Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The rugby New Zealand faced their second match against England
- 0:03Speaker 1: this weekend after a nail biting finished last week. Both
- 0:06Speaker 1: squads have been named with almost no changes. We're just
- 0:09Speaker 1: Finlay Christie replacing TJ. Peinada following his injury. There's also
- 0:13Speaker 1: a change over at the England side. Elliott Smith is
- 0:17Speaker 1: News Talks here Be's rugby commentator and he is with
- 0:19Speaker 1: me now. Elliott, good morning, Nice to have you on
- 0:21Speaker 1: the program. Is this a more significant test given than
- 0:27Speaker 1: it's Eden Park?
- 0:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. Possibly for the All Blacks now
- 0:31Speaker 2: they've had a week to settle into their combinations. Scott
- 0:34Speaker 2: Roberts Simm's no longer like the first week of school,
- 0:36Speaker 2: he was saying yesterday to the media. It's more like, Okay,
- 0:40Speaker 2: we know what we're doing. Now everyone knows they're way
- 0:42Speaker 2: to the class room. Let's get things done. So for
- 0:45Speaker 2: the All Blacks, I think is the sense that last
- 0:47Speaker 2: week was about putting some systems in place. This week
- 0:49Speaker 2: it's really about fine tuning that and putting what they
- 0:52Speaker 2: want to do in terms of a rugby product out
- 0:55Speaker 2: onto the park. Look, they got the win last week,
- 0:57Speaker 2: but it's quite clear that it wasn't entirely per effect
- 1:00Speaker 2: or thing that hard want things to go over the
- 1:02Speaker 2: course of a season. So week one on the board,
- 1:05Speaker 2: now that looks a week two and try and make
- 1:07Speaker 2: some improvements.
- 1:07Speaker 1: What are you expecting. Do you expect that now that
- 1:10Speaker 1: they've got that first one out of the way, maybe
- 1:11Speaker 1: the nerves or the gishes or whatever are gone and
- 1:13Speaker 1: that we'll just kind of run home.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Let's hope so from an all tax perspective and hope
- 1:19Speaker 2: that things run a little more smooth. England will be
- 1:21Speaker 2: making sure to the best of their possibilities. That can't happen,
- 1:25Speaker 2: of course, and you all Blacks desperately need to find
- 1:27Speaker 2: a way to figure out this rush defense or the
- 1:30Speaker 2: unbreillered defense, whatever way you won't call it. They need
- 1:32Speaker 2: to find a way to score more points against England.
- 1:35Speaker 2: England were very very good at suffocating the All Black
- 1:38Speaker 2: last week, making sure there was in enough space. And
- 1:40Speaker 2: you'll Blacks are a team that historically likes to run
- 1:43Speaker 2: the ball and use their outside backs and create some
- 1:46Speaker 2: opportunities there. They simply didn't get enough of those last
- 1:49Speaker 2: week against England. They had two tries in the first
- 1:51Speaker 2: spell where keeps to trialists and the second spell, and
- 1:55Speaker 2: that they're not a team that is comfortable. I don't
- 1:57Speaker 2: think we're scoring penalty goals to keep the scoreboard ticking
- 2:00Speaker 2: over and win test that way. So they're going to
- 2:03Speaker 2: have to try and find ways to get past this
- 2:04Speaker 2: English defense. And there wasn't a lot of space out
- 2:08Speaker 2: on the park last week, and that's what international rugby
- 2:10Speaker 2: is seemingly all about at the moment, is finding those
- 2:13Speaker 2: little patches of space and converting that into try scoring opportunities.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Elliott, thank you. You're going to pick a score for us?
- 2:21Speaker 2: I'll go to the All Blacks. I hit the All
- 2:23Speaker 2: Blacks I think by five when I was chatting last week,
- 2:24Speaker 2: So I'm going to go the All Blacks by seven?
- 2:26Speaker 2: How about that tomorrow?
- 2:26Speaker 1: And I sounds pretty good. Allott Smith with US News
