- 0:00Hi everyone, welcome to Mini Scroll, the daily Internet
- 0:04culture podcast bringing you the biggest stories from social
- 0:07media, the creator economy and the digital space every Monday
- 0:11through Thursday and sometimes Fridays.
- 0:13I'm your host, Lauren Meissner, the founder of the Australian
- 0:16youth digital media brand Centennial World.
- 0:20Welcome back to Mini Scroll, everyone.
- 0:22OK, before I get into the stories for today, Please
- 0:25remember to rate, review and subscribe.
- 0:27Please Spotify Star rate US and I hope you guys are all taking
- 0:30care of yourself. I know that so much horrible
- 0:33stuff is going on around the world, and I encourage you to
- 0:36stay offline if and when you can.
- 0:40All right, let's get into the stories for today.
- 0:43So the first story that I have for you guys today is the 2
- 0:46Bears 1 Cave podcast is facing backlash over a rage bait viral
- 0:51clip about holding your newborn baby.
- 0:54So the podcast 2 Bears 1 Cave, it's kind of like a raunchy
- 0:58comedy podcast. It's by two comedians, Bert
- 1:01Kreischer, Craig Kreischer. I always see EIS.
- 1:06My last name is EIS, like Meisner EIS.
- 1:09And I always pronounce it the opposite of how I pronounce my
- 1:12last name. And then I'm like, why did I not
- 1:14read it like my last name. Bert and Tom Segura.
- 1:17The podcast is super popular. They have millions of listens.
- 1:21They have millions of followers. They've been supported over the
- 1:25years by Joe Rogan. So it's like that type of comedy
- 1:28podcast, OK. Over the weekend, the podcast
- 1:30was facing major backlash after a resurfaced clip started going
- 1:35viral from an episode in which Bert makes a sexual joke about
- 1:39men holding their newborn babies.
- 1:42I know what I'm about to say to you and I know that you're going
- 1:43to go what he goes. There's a lot of things people
- 1:47don't tell you about parenting, especially dads.
- 1:49A lot of people keep dads in the dark.
- 1:50Like first time you hang out and hold your kid by yourself,
- 1:53you're going to get hard. It gets better.
- 2:09So I didn't know any better so I just listened to him and I'm
- 2:12only my kid going. How come my?
- 2:15OK, so in this clip it's kind of hard to decipher, but he's
- 2:17actually referring to something that someone else said to him.
- 2:21So this was apparently a prank that his father played on him
- 2:25before he had his first child. Which is why everyone is
- 2:28laughing so much in the clip. Because Burt was basically
- 2:30saying like I was holding my newborn child waiting for this
- 2:33to happen to me after I was told that it would happen to me and
- 2:37he was told that it was going to happen to him as a prank.
- 2:40And while that context has been missing from a of the social
- 2:45media reactions and the reporting of this clip, I don't
- 2:49think that makes this any better.
- 2:51That's been like the defense that, you know, fans of this
- 2:54podcast and men that don't think that this is that weird and
- 2:58thought that this joke was funny or whatever.
- 2:59That's the defense that they've been using when people are
- 3:02criticizing this podcast clip. They're like, this is taken out
- 3:04of context. You don't understand.
- 3:06He's not saying it about himself.
- 3:07He's telling a story about something that was told to him.
- 3:10OK, That honestly doesn't make it any better.
- 3:12First of all, the entire room of men laugh so hard that they can
- 3:17barely breathe. This is a room filled with grown
- 3:20men and fathers laughing at a joke about being aroused over
- 3:24your newborn baby. If my friend told me a story
- 3:27like that, that their parent played some type of prank on
- 3:29them like this, I would think that was sick and I would be
- 3:33deeply concerned about what my friend experienced as a child
- 3:37having a parent like that. That is not a story to use as a
- 3:41joke on a podcast to relate to people and think that this this
- 3:44is a funny joke that was told to you.
- 3:46This was a funny prank that was played on you.
- 3:48Once you realize that that was a quote UN quote prank, you should
- 3:50have been so horrified that somebody thought that that was
- 3:53appropriate or funny or whatever to play on you and to tell you.
- 3:57And that should have been it done there.
- 3:59Second, this clip was obviously edited to be rage bait.
- 4:03The podcast episode that this clip is from came out in 2019.
- 4:07Their podcast network posted this clip to TikTok in 2024.
- 4:11And then the two bears. I was going to say Two Birds,
- 4:14Two Bears 1 Cave podcast posted it on their like actual podcast
- 4:18account in 2025. So they have reposted this clip
- 4:23multiple times over the course of several years because they
- 4:27knew that it's shocking and that it probably goes viral every
- 4:30time they post it. And look like we all understand
- 4:33the dynamics of rage bait online.
- 4:35We've probably all engaged in rage bait online.
- 4:37We've probably participated in it in one way or another.
- 4:40But this is not rage bait opinion.
- 4:42This is not being contrary in for rage bait purposes.
- 4:46This is not like sensational rage bait.
- 4:48This is intentional rage bait that makes a mockery of
- 4:52something so sick and disgusting and they're just.
- 4:56There needs to be consequences for people who engage in rage
- 4:59bait like this. At some point you actually can
- 5:03take the joke too far. You can take the rage bait too
- 5:06far. And the fact that they have
- 5:07reposted this so many times over so many years is really telling.
- 5:12This is an example of what we constantly say, which is other
- 5:16men need to hold their friends, their family, their peers
- 5:19accountable. They need to hold each other
- 5:22accountable. That room of men who were just
- 5:24laughing their asses off at this.
- 5:26I understand some of them are probably working for Bert.
- 5:29It's an uncomfortable situation. But at the very least bare
- 5:33minimum his host who is on equal playing field with in this clip
- 5:37should have called him out and been like that is sick.
- 5:40We are obviously not posting that anywhere.
- 5:42We are cutting this out. Like what the fuck is wrong with
- 5:44you? OK, the next story that I have
- 5:45for you guys today is the McDonald's CEO is being trolled
- 5:49for his new promotion of the McDonald's Big Arch Burger.
- 5:53So Chris Kemsinski, who is the CEO and president of McDonald's,
- 5:58is going viral for his promo video that he made of the
- 6:01company's new burger, the Big Arch.
- 6:02I've never done this on many before, but I'm going to do a
- 6:04live react for you guys because I actually need you to
- 6:07understand how insane this video is.
- 6:10Here it is, the big arch. This is something that we have
- 6:13tested already in Portugal, Germany, Canada.
- 6:18I love this product. This is a man who is speaking to
- 6:21shareholders all day, every day. This is not a man consuming
- 6:26their quote UN quote product to be speaking to consumers, trying
- 6:29to get us excited about this new burger and calling it a product,
- 6:32talking about how you've tested it around the world.
- 6:35This is the least humanizing, appetizing way that you could
- 6:39ever market this burger. So good.
- 6:41I'm going to do a tasting right now, but I'm going to eat this
- 6:43for my lunch, just so you know, so.
- 6:45Just so you know, I eat McDonald's too, just like you
- 6:48plebs. Here we go first.
- 6:50Holy cow God, that is a big burger.
- 6:52We've got a. Very God that's a big burger.
- 6:55That is a regular degular sized burger.
- 6:58As we all know, McDonald's burgers are like, notoriously
- 7:01incredibly flat and very small. Unique kind of sesame poppy sort
- 7:06of bun on it. We've got 2 quarter pound
- 7:10patties. Is it that unique?
- 7:12A bun with sesame seeds and poppy seeds on it.
- 7:15Is it that unique? This thing, I don't even know
- 7:18how to attack. It got so much to it.
- 7:21Oh, there's also some crispy. Has he ever eaten a burger
- 7:23before? I just.
- 7:24Want those kind of coming out All right.
- 7:26The moment of truth that is so good.
- 7:33That's a big bite for a big arch.
- 7:35The jump cut from when he takes the world's smallest bite.
- 7:40We don't even see him swallow. He says that's so good.
- 7:43And then the immediate jump to the world's smallest bite in his
- 7:47burger, that's a big bite. No, it's not.
- 7:50Delicious product. You know, you've got sort of the
- 7:52cheeses and the gooeyness, but those crispy onions as well
- 7:56gives a nice texture. And of course, we've got the
- 7:58Pickles. So I'm going to enjoy the rest
- 8:00of my lunch. Of course, the Pickles.
- 8:03Try it when you can get it. So this is going viral because
- 8:06this is basically like Aceo cosplaying as a normal person
- 8:10trying to convince us to eat this for lunch as if he's ever
- 8:13in McDonald's for lunch in his life.
- 8:15He's being trolled so much. Everybody's like, hello fellow
- 8:18humans. What a delicious product.
- 8:21It's so funny. You guys need to look at the
- 8:23reactions on Reddit and like in his comments on TikTok.
- 8:26It's so good. I love how he also doesn't tell
- 8:28us at all like what it tastes like.
- 8:29Like what is this new quote UN quote product?
- 8:32What is big garch sauce? Like what is the flavor profile?
- 8:35Why would I want to try it? I don't know anything about the
- 8:37burger. All I know is that he thinks he
- 8:39took a big bite out of this burger that has a mixture of
- 8:43sesame seeds and poppy seeds on the button.
- 8:45So aside from being awkward and obviously funny because of how
- 8:49awkward it is, I do feel like if you want people to purchase from
- 8:53your brand, don't get the CEO who is totally out of touch,
- 8:58makes around $20 million a year in salary to promote your brand,
- 9:02especially when you are on the boycott list.
- 9:05Like none of this is going down. Well, I mean, they actually, you
- 9:08know what, they're going viral. Maybe I take that back.
- 9:10They are getting their viral moment.
- 9:12It's just really not for what they expected or probably what
- 9:15they hoped for. There are some brands that don't
- 9:18need to be humanized because it doesn't actually make sense.
- 9:21There's a lot of CE OS that promote their companies and use
- 9:24their products and all that kind of stuff, but for a company like
- 9:27McDonald's, we don't need to humanize the executive team.
- 9:30We don't need for you to pretend that the executive team is
- 9:34eating McDonald's for lunch. We know they are not eating
- 9:36McDonald's for lunch. This doesn't do anything for the
- 9:38brand aside from making us think that the social media team or
- 9:42his own personal team, whoever is encouraging him to make this
- 9:45type of content, it feels like they really don't understand the
- 9:48purpose behind employee generated content, leader
- 9:51generated content, CEO generated content, founder generated
- 9:55content whatever. OK, the next word that I have
- 9:57for you guys today is Flava flav someone I never thought I would
- 10:00talk about on mini scroll is putting on a celebration for
- 10:04women Olympic athletes and tons of brands are stepping up to
- 10:08participate. So rapper Flavour of Love, star
- 10:12and apparent women's sports enthusiast Flava Flav offered to
- 10:16host the US women's hockey team in Las Vegas for a celebration
- 10:20of their win after they were disrespected by Trump and the
- 10:23men's hockey team. Which caused a lot of backlash,
- 10:26especially amongst the hockey community.
- 10:28Over the past couple of weeks, given the hockey community has
- 10:31expanded a lot and now includes, I'm sure, way more women than
- 10:34ever before, particularly thanks to disciplines, particularly
- 10:38thanks to things like book talk and huge rivalry.
- 10:41Last Monday, Flava Flav wrote on X quote.
- 10:43If the USA women's hockey team wants a real celebration and
- 10:47invite, I'll host them to Las Vegas, do some nice dinners and
- 10:51shows and good at times. I'm sure I can get a hotel and
- 10:53airline to help me out here and celebrate these women for real,
- 10:56for real almost right away. StubHub and Alaska Airlines
- 10:59reached out to Flave over social media, offering to cover the
- 11:02women's show tickets and airfare.
- 11:04Now, for anyone confused, Flava Flave first got involved in the
- 11:07US Olympic teams during the 2024 Paris Summer Olympics, where he
- 11:11pledged to support the women's water polo team.
- 11:14I will also note before I keep going that Flava Flav does have
- 11:17a history of alleged abuse and violence against female family
- 11:21members, romantic partners. So I think we need to keep that
- 11:24in mind when looking at, you know, his advocacy and his
- 11:28support of women's sports over these just past couple of years.
- 11:32Now, this offering that he put out early last week has
- 11:35continued to evolve. Flava Flav has now widened the
- 11:37invite to include all US female Olympic and Paralympic medalists
- 11:42as well as the US bobsled and skeleton teams groups that he
- 11:45did support as an official sponsor and self-proclaimed
- 11:48quote UN quote hype man at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter
- 11:51Games. He then launched A GoFundMe for
- 11:53people who want to support the celebration from afar as well As
- 11:56for people who want to support the women's hockey player Kelly
- 11:59Pannek who was recently involved in a car accident and I guess
- 12:02needs a new car. This is from women's sports
- 12:04commentator You forgot about Dre.
- 12:06Was started as a desire to celebrate the women's hockey
- 12:08team because the men and the president weren't now turn into
- 12:12an entire female Olympian celebration weekend in Vegas
- 12:17hosted by Flavor Flav and the gist and sponsored by hundreds
- 12:21of companies already Alaska Air stuff, Amica Carvey, Michaels.
- 12:25I mean, literally, so many stores are like, we're in, let's
- 12:28do. This I do love seeing brands
- 12:29jump on to support something like this, but maybe we can keep
- 12:34this energy for women's sports in general when they need
- 12:37sponsorship and money and funding and support, you know,
- 12:40year round, not just around this one specific event.
- 12:44All right, And the last word that I have for you guys, this
- 12:45is like 3 seconds long, but I saw it right before I started
- 12:48recording. La Roche has seemingly confirmed
- 12:51that Zendaya and Tom Holland are already married.
- 12:54So in an interview on the red carpet at the Actor Awards,
- 12:57which used to be the SAG after awards but now they've renamed
- 13:00it to the Actor Awards, Zendaya's longtime stylist La
- 13:03Roche told Access Hollywood that her wedding to Tom Holland
- 13:06already happened and we all missed it.
- 13:08The. Wedding has already happened.
- 13:10You missed it. It's not true.
- 13:13It's very true. Thank you so much.
- 13:16I feel like I'm not surprised that they would have done this
- 13:18like totally DL, but I am surprised that we're finding
- 13:20that out through her stylist on the red carpet in such a casual
- 13:24way. People online are like, Oh my
- 13:26God, I can't believe he spilled it like this.
- 13:28And then others are like, he's been her stylist for decades.
- 13:32Like he obviously knows what he is and is not allowed to say and
- 13:36she probably would be OK with him saying this if he's saying
- 13:40it and I tend to agree with that.
- 13:41Anyways, guys, that's it for mini scroll today.
- 13:43Thank you so much for listening. I love you guys.
- 13:46Please remember to rate review and subscribe.
- 13:48Please Spotify star rate US. We're trying to get to 1000
- 13:50Spotify star ratings. I love you and I will talk to
- 13:53you tomorrow. Bye.
