  Speaker 1: a ten thousand dollars grant from State Farm the Good

  Speaker 1: Neighbor Firefighter Safety Program. They are one of one hundred

  Speaker 1: and fifty volunteer fire departments throughout then throughout the Good

  Speaker 1: Neighbor Firefighters Safety Program. And I'm very excited that these

  Speaker 1: various fire departments across New York will be supported like this.

  Speaker 1: The announcement was made on August eighteenth, a date many

  Speaker 1: celebrate as Volunteer Firefighters Recognition Day and Volunteer firefighters make

  Speaker 1: up sixty five percent of the US Fire Service, and

  Speaker 1: believe me, on nine to eleven alone, Look how many

  Speaker 1: firefighters lost their lives. Look how many volunteer in addition

  Speaker 1: to the FDNY stormed in. I mean you can go

  Speaker 1: to O'Hara's. Patches upon patches upon patches of fire departments

  Speaker 1: small town and rural fire departments operating with limited budgets,

  Speaker 1: equipment and gear they need to best serve their community.

  Speaker 1: These grands are a lifeline for local departments to obtain

  Speaker 1: equipment that will increase safety, efficiency and effectiveness. In New York,

  Speaker 1: here's where they're going to be fulfilling the needs of

  Speaker 1: the different fire departments Aimes Volunteer Fire Department, Barneveld Fire Department,

  Speaker 1: East Palmyra Fire Department, Maple Springs Fire Department, Auto Fire Department,

  Speaker 1: Willett Fire Department, and Spring Lake Fire Department in Kingston

  Speaker 1: shouted to Andy Gladding up there as well as Slottsburg

  Speaker 1: Fire Department joining and they will also join ten of

  Speaker 1: the fire department recipients at a community event later this fall,

  Speaker 1: which may include an open house, fire prevention event, parade,

  Speaker 1: or other local gathering will ENVFC chair Steve Hurst said,

  Speaker 1: to continue the Good Neighbor Firefighter Safety program and provide

  Speaker 1: critical assistance to volunteer fire departments. And let me tell you,

  Speaker 1: these fire departments not just look for that cat stuck

  Speaker 1: up in the tree. They go and fight the fires.

  Speaker 1: They go into the blaze for their communities on a

  Speaker 1: volunteer basis. So to get that support must feel like

  Speaker 1: the you know, the way the world's being lifted here

  Speaker 1: and they're going to be able to do the job.

  Speaker 1: And we should be thinking our first responders, whether it
• 4:34
  Speaker 1: is FDN LIE, whether it is you know, suburban or

  Speaker 1: rural or small town fire departments, they all should be supported.

  Speaker 1: And so I want to thank State Farm on behalf

  Speaker 1: of a city that saw how important fire fighters were

  Speaker 1: to the rescue efforts time and time again, especially around

  Speaker 1: tight knit these firefighters communities are. And just like that
