- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:13Speaker 2: So brand new edition of NFL Power Rankings we are
- 0:16Speaker 2: presented by Energizer Long with Eric at home, I am
- 0:19Speaker 2: with you. We go through the top teams in the NFL. Actually,
- 0:22Speaker 2: we're going through all the teams in the NFL. For
- 0:23Speaker 2: complete analysis of all thirty two, check out NFL dot com.
- 0:27Speaker 2: Uric I had asked you, Hey, did you watch the
- 0:29Speaker 2: World Series game before we started recording. He said, no,
- 0:31Speaker 2: Monday night was over. I get home and I immediately
- 0:34Speaker 2: go to my inbox because I usually get a preview
- 0:36Speaker 2: of what your rankings are going to be, and you
- 0:38Speaker 2: would say, hey, like the game is over. I fell
- 0:40Speaker 2: asleep on the couch and I don't want to get
- 0:43Speaker 2: Tami here. Was that by design?
- 0:45Speaker 3: Though?
- 0:45Speaker 2: Like were you told to sleep on the couch.
- 0:47Speaker 3: It happens more often than I probably should let it happen. Right,
- 0:50Speaker 3: I'll start watching TV. I'll get into something interesting next thing,
- 0:53Speaker 3: and I wake up. It's, you know, quarter to two
- 0:55Speaker 3: in the morning, and I'm thinking I got to be
- 0:56Speaker 3: up in about four hours. Here, this isn't very good,
- 0:58Speaker 3: but the alert for the game came off right when
- 1:02Speaker 3: I woke up, so I didn't realize quite how long
- 1:04Speaker 3: had gone.
- 1:05Speaker 2: We got off the set on Monday Night Football. On
- 1:07Speaker 2: our postgame show, our researcher said, hey, it's in the
- 1:09Speaker 2: tenth inning. It was a long one, I think for
- 1:12Speaker 2: all sports fans. When I was reading our article, by
- 1:14Speaker 2: the way, while the game was going on, I did
- 1:17Speaker 2: notice that you called the rankings semi chalking, and I
- 1:20Speaker 2: think that's maybe the best way to describe really the
- 1:22Speaker 2: top here. Let's go through one through eight, and you
- 1:25Speaker 2: got the Detroit Lions sitting at one, the Colts at two,
- 1:29Speaker 2: and the Chiefs at three. So no change here. The
- 1:31Speaker 2: Packers move up one spot to the fourth position. Philadelphia Seattle.
- 1:35Speaker 2: We got the Rams at seven and Tampa Bay sitting
- 1:38Speaker 2: at eight. Sitting at that six and two record, I
- 1:41Speaker 2: think we should focus in on the Colts. They feel
- 1:44Speaker 2: like a very, very complete team, and I guess it
- 1:47Speaker 2: shouldn't surprise Well, maybe it surprises some people, but it
- 1:49Speaker 2: shouldn't surprise us right now, considering how these pieces are
- 1:52Speaker 2: all working together. Are we finally at a point where
- 1:55Speaker 2: we just say, hey, like this is legit? And they
- 1:57Speaker 2: had a real chance to get to the Super Bowl.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Yeah, I kind of slow played them a little bit, Mike.
- 2:02Speaker 3: You know, it was just sort of holding back. I
- 2:04Speaker 3: wanted to see a bigger body of work, maybe some
- 2:06Speaker 3: better competition. But I've seen enough to say, hey, if
- 2:09Speaker 3: this team stays relatively intact through the rest of the season,
- 2:12Speaker 3: they are gonna be a problem. Okay, Daniel Jones has
- 2:15Speaker 3: played very well. It didn't have a great first half Sunday,
- 2:17Speaker 3: but eventually receivers came open, and they have so many
- 2:20Speaker 3: guys they can throw to. And of course the backbone
- 2:23Speaker 3: of that offense too, Jonathan Taylor, and really that offensive
- 2:26Speaker 3: line too. I think we should mention them, Quenton Nelson,
- 2:29Speaker 3: guys like Bernard Raymond Tanner, BORDERLINI getting out on these
- 2:33Speaker 3: runs and these screens and everything. And boy, when you
- 2:36Speaker 3: can take a punt in your territory and the other
- 2:40Speaker 3: team's not going for it, what do you do? You
- 2:42Speaker 3: hand off to Jonathan Taylor takes at eighty yards and
- 2:45Speaker 3: that's just how explosive. They've been a little worried about
- 2:47Speaker 3: the defense, Mike. I mean, they've given up some yards
- 2:50Speaker 3: this year, there's no doubt, but that pass rush can
- 2:52Speaker 3: cover some of it. And they're always seemingly playing with leads,
- 2:55Speaker 3: which really helps. I think.
- 2:57Speaker 2: I think there's gonna be a really interesting conversation about
- 2:59Speaker 2: how to handle Daniel Jones and Anthony Richardson in this offseason.
- 3:03Speaker 2: Got to imagine this team doesn't have much of choice.
- 3:06Speaker 2: They're gonna have to pay Daniel Jones just toased off
- 3:08Speaker 2: of his performance this year, and Jonathan Taylor obviously has
- 3:11Speaker 2: been rolling to number three. Right now, we got a
- 3:13Speaker 2: Kansas City Chief squad that is all of a sudden
- 3:16Speaker 2: looking like one of the most complete teams in the NFL.
- 3:18Speaker 2: They're one of two squads sitting in the top five
- 3:20Speaker 2: of total offense and defense. I'll tell you who that
- 3:22Speaker 2: other team is a little bit later when we talk
- 3:24Speaker 2: about them. Are you like, we're not worried about that
- 3:27Speaker 2: that O and two start, right Like, we're officially back
- 3:29Speaker 2: with Kansas City being one of the premier teams in
- 3:31Speaker 2: the NFL.
- 3:33Speaker 3: Yeah. The O and two starts certainly had me kind
- 3:35Speaker 3: of pause in a little bit. The loss to Jacksonville.
- 3:37Speaker 3: Everybody was sort of questioning, hey, is this sort of
- 3:39Speaker 3: shades of what we saw last year coming to roost? Right?
- 3:42Speaker 3: All those close games that they won, could have lost
- 3:44Speaker 3: several This one, the Monday night game, I thought was
- 3:47Speaker 3: a really interesting test. The Commanders brought everything they had,
- 3:51Speaker 3: had more energy early. It was a tie game, and
- 3:53Speaker 3: then what happened in the third quarter The Chiefs turned
- 3:56Speaker 3: their lights out, and Mike again just kind of comparing
- 3:58Speaker 3: it to the last couple of years worth the Chiefs teams.
- 4:00Speaker 3: I know they're different, but the corps the same, Andy Reid,
- 4:03Speaker 3: Patrick Mahomes, Driving, Kelsey all the rest. They now have
- 4:07Speaker 3: the explosiveness to turn your lights out fast. I don't
- 4:10Speaker 3: think they had that as readily available to them the
- 4:14Speaker 3: last couple of seasons. But now Rashi Rice is in
- 4:16Speaker 3: the lineup, Xavier Worthy healthy, you still have Marquise Brown.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Obviously Kelsey could have a big night. He had the
- 4:23Speaker 3: drop to catch that win Ford interception. You know, those
- 4:26Speaker 3: things happened. But the defense too, has really kind of
- 4:29Speaker 3: turned it on the last few games. So look, they
- 4:32Speaker 3: can play a poor half or so so half, come
- 4:35Speaker 3: back and beat a team like the Commanders with ease,
- 4:38Speaker 3: and I think that's a pretty good sign of their health.
- 4:40Speaker 3: Right now.
- 4:40Speaker 2: What do you make of this game on Sunday against Buffalo,
- 4:42Speaker 2: Because this is that you know, before the season, you'd
- 4:45Speaker 2: say mussy television. Now that we're in the season, I'm
- 4:47Speaker 2: still saying it's mussy TV.
- 4:50Speaker 3: It is right, And obviously you can kind of throw
- 4:52Speaker 3: the records out a little bit or whoever's playing the
- 4:54Speaker 3: best at the time, given that Buffalo has had a
- 4:57Speaker 3: little bit more success in the regular season meetings. Obviously
- 5:00Speaker 3: Kansas City more in the playoff meetings. So who knows
- 5:03Speaker 3: right final season at high these teams pretty know each
- 5:05Speaker 3: other pretty well. Bill's had a get right game last week,
- 5:08Speaker 3: but this casey defense and what they're doing on offense
- 5:11Speaker 3: could be tough to stop. Yeah, good to.
- 5:13Speaker 2: See Buffalo sort of get their minds right. It was
- 5:15Speaker 2: back to back losses by and then they handle business
- 5:18Speaker 2: against the Carolina team that didn't have Bryce Young. But
- 5:20Speaker 2: a win is a win all right, time for future champions.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It is presented by fan Duel. Take a closer look
- 5:26Speaker 2: at the NFC North odds to win. The Green Bay
- 5:29Speaker 2: Packers sitting at minus one thirty, they are the favorite.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The Detroit Lions not far behind plus one twenty five.
- 5:34Speaker 2: I think you make an argument Detroit's got one of
- 5:36Speaker 2: the top two or three offenses in the league feel
- 5:39Speaker 2: good about that defense when they're healthy. The Bears had
- 5:41Speaker 2: a four game winning streak that got snapped. They're in
- 5:44Speaker 2: that third position plus twenty two hundred and then a
- 5:47Speaker 2: plus forty five hundred the Minnesota Vikings, who will be
- 5:50Speaker 2: playing JJ McCarthy now that Carson Wentz is no longer healthy,
- 5:54Speaker 2: although I think JJ was ready and he was going
- 5:55Speaker 2: to get that job back, all right. The Packers sit
- 5:58Speaker 2: at number four right now. You wrote on your article
- 6:01Speaker 2: that's on NFL dot com with regard of these power rankings,
- 6:03Speaker 2: Jordan Love, that's been game that you've seen. I actually
- 6:06Speaker 2: think it's a really positive sign that in a big moment,
- 6:08Speaker 2: you could say, hey, regular season, but it's big when
- 6:11Speaker 2: it's Aaron Rodgers on the other side, like we it's
- 6:13Speaker 2: his primetime game Sunday Night Football. He played his best
- 6:16Speaker 2: game that you think you might have seen from him.
- 6:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I heard a lot of people talking about, oh,
- 6:21Speaker 3: what a great second half he had. I thought he
- 6:23Speaker 3: played a great four quarters, right that he couldn't really
- 6:26Speaker 3: generate the kind of points they wanted early, and we've
- 6:28Speaker 3: seen that from the Packers. Maybe a little bit slower
- 6:30Speaker 3: starting or they have one good drive early and then
- 6:33Speaker 3: kind of stall out, But you know, Love seemed to
- 6:35Speaker 3: get better as the game went on. You found these
- 6:37Speaker 3: plays with Kraft, who missed a chunk of this game
- 6:40Speaker 3: with injury, but you know he did outstanding. Obviously, Watson
- 6:43Speaker 3: back in the lineup that helps didn't really have much
- 6:46Speaker 3: run game going, but never truly felt threatened. Even when
- 6:50Speaker 3: they were down nineteen to fourteen. It felt like the
- 6:52Speaker 3: momentum was on their side. Some of that you credit
- 6:55Speaker 3: the Green Bay defense. Certainly, some of that you obviously
- 6:58Speaker 3: credit the offense, but you're right as far as big
- 7:00Speaker 3: moments go, playoff atmosphere. Pittsburgh team that's had some success
- 7:05Speaker 3: this year, the specter of Rogers, whatever you want to say,
- 7:09Speaker 3: Jordan Love, I thought outplayed them, not by a huge margin,
- 7:12Speaker 3: but by enough to win the game. And you know,
- 7:15Speaker 3: the Packers, this is probably one of their best games
- 7:17Speaker 3: of the season outside of that that week one went
- 7:19Speaker 3: over the Lions.
- 7:20Speaker 2: They look like a more complete football team. And I'd
- 7:22Speaker 2: say this, Michael Parsons six and a half sacks on
- 7:25Speaker 2: the year, they sacked Rogers three times in this game,
- 7:27Speaker 2: and maybe that's the difference here. The only other thing
- 7:29Speaker 2: that I would add is you saw in that first
- 7:31Speaker 2: half green Bay trying to go with those deep shots
- 7:33Speaker 2: a whole lot. In that first half, they went to
- 7:35Speaker 2: the quick game. In the second half, you saw twenty
- 7:37Speaker 2: straight completions from Jordan Love. Maybe that's a recipe that
- 7:40Speaker 2: we see duplicated over the coming weeks. Carolina on deck
- 7:43Speaker 2: now for the Green Bay Packers once again move up
- 7:46Speaker 2: one spot into that fourth position. The Eagles also move
- 7:49Speaker 2: up one spot. They sit at number five. Look, I
- 7:53Speaker 2: don't want to say get right game. I mean, look,
- 7:54Speaker 2: they had an avenge what happened in week number six
- 7:57Speaker 2: to the Giants, But they're heading into the buy are
- 8:00Speaker 2: all things? Like Okay, I mean we've seen an explosive
- 8:02Speaker 2: passing game. We've also now seen Sake want to get
- 8:05Speaker 2: back on track with another monster game against the Giants.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Like can we finally just say hey, Like, let's put
- 8:10Speaker 2: the drama aside. They got a comfortable lead in this division.
- 8:13Speaker 2: They're really good.
- 8:15Speaker 3: I think we're almost there, if not there already. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 3: I mean, obviously the last couple of weeks have looked good,
- 8:20Speaker 3: a lot better than we expected. You know, the questions
- 8:22Speaker 3: about the offense, what was wrong with Saquon why wasn't
- 8:25Speaker 3: Hurts being able to connect with his receivers and you know,
- 8:28Speaker 3: a game with no Aj Brown, the offense looked great, right,
- 8:32Speaker 3: Saquon Barkley was obviously a huge part of it. Hurts
- 8:34Speaker 3: kept up with his four TD passes. They were very
- 8:36Speaker 3: good in the red zone. You know, Barkley gets hurt
- 8:39Speaker 3: at the end of the game, but they're on by
- 8:40Speaker 3: It doesn't sound like a serious injury. So this was
- 8:42Speaker 3: kind of the best of all worlds developing here. You
- 8:47Speaker 3: vanquished the team that beat you earlier in the season,
- 8:49Speaker 3: you develop Barkley, you get him going again, the injury
- 8:52Speaker 3: isn't that serious, and the defense ends up taking care
- 8:55Speaker 3: of business when it when it matters. So yeah, again,
- 8:59Speaker 3: this is if you kind of look back to last
- 9:00Speaker 3: year that first month of the season, Eagles were still
- 9:03Speaker 3: kind of feeling themselves out loss of the Bucks, you know,
- 9:06Speaker 3: low swin over the Saints in New Orleans and really
- 9:09Speaker 3: turned it on after the bye. So I kind of wonder,
- 9:11Speaker 3: even if it's a little later this season, is this
- 9:13Speaker 3: the time where they kind of hit the turbo boosters
- 9:15Speaker 3: and get back into that upper upper echelon where they
- 9:18Speaker 3: were last year. By seasons in of.
- 9:20Speaker 2: All the teams in the NFC, do they have the
- 9:22Speaker 2: highest ceiling?
- 9:24Speaker 3: They might, you know, obviously Green Bay is really interesting
- 9:26Speaker 3: with if Love plays at his peak and Parsons start dominating,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and you know, the Lions, if they get healthy defensively,
- 9:33Speaker 3: you could certainly make a case for them. But you know,
- 9:35Speaker 3: those are the teams that come to mind right away
- 9:37Speaker 3: when you say that. Obviously the NFC West has a
- 9:39Speaker 3: little something to say about it too, But you know,
- 9:42Speaker 3: there's some teams that have some pretty high ceilings, and
- 9:44Speaker 3: they've got to be one of the top ones.
- 9:46Speaker 2: Yeah. I look at the talent that's on this roster,
- 9:48Speaker 2: both offensive and defense, and I think if we remove
- 9:51Speaker 2: some of the drama, they are one of the scariest teams.
- 9:53Speaker 2: And it looks like their path Giants obviously banked Upskataboo
- 9:57Speaker 2: goes down. We've seen what's happened now with the Commanders.
- 9:59Speaker 2: Hopefully Jayden can get back onto the football field. They
- 10:02Speaker 2: got some problems and Daking Company. We know that there's
- 10:04Speaker 2: some issues there too. One team that has been rolling
- 10:08Speaker 2: doesn't feel like there's many issues. Bo Nicks. The defense
- 10:11Speaker 2: has been balling out and he is delivering Haymaker after
- 10:15Speaker 2: Haymaker won five straight games. Where do they sit on
- 10:18Speaker 2: the rankings? The answer to that is coming up next.
- 10:26Speaker 1: Power Rankings is brought to you by Energizer.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Still going.
- 10:36Speaker 2: Hey back here on power rankings along with Derek at
- 10:39Speaker 2: Holme Mike am with you. Teams nine through sixteen according
- 10:42Speaker 2: to Eric, no change at nine, ten and eleven. It's
- 10:45Speaker 2: the Bills, the Broncos, and the Patriots. I still can't
- 10:48Speaker 2: believe we're talking about New England as a six and
- 10:50Speaker 2: two football team. More on them in just a moment.
- 10:52Speaker 2: The Chargers at twelve. The Niners drop a spot to thirteen.
- 10:55Speaker 2: We have the Steelers also following one spot there. Four
- 10:58Speaker 2: and three football team at fourteenth is their position. The
- 11:01Speaker 2: Jacksonville Jaguars at fifteen, and the Houston Sexans that offense
- 11:04Speaker 2: woke up, they move up five spots into the sixteenth position.
- 11:08Speaker 2: All right. The Buffalo Bills, I think is sort of
- 11:11Speaker 2: an interesting team to dissect here because I made reference
- 11:13Speaker 2: to it. We had the two losses, one of them
- 11:15Speaker 2: against a Patriots team where they've typically owned this entire division.
- 11:19Speaker 2: I think that was a wake up call. Then they
- 11:20Speaker 2: lose the following week. Then it's a bye and then
- 11:22Speaker 2: they beat a Carolina team without their starting quarterback in
- 11:25Speaker 2: Bryce Young. Is it fair to say, like, hey, they're
- 11:28Speaker 2: who we thought they were, especially because we saw from
- 11:31Speaker 2: James Cook, you know, basically over two hundred yards on
- 11:33Speaker 2: the ground. Or are you still a little hesitant to say, hey,
- 11:36Speaker 2: they're gonna be able to handle business against that twos
- 11:38Speaker 2: team on Sunday.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah. Obviously they've had a good sort of regular season
- 11:43Speaker 3: record against the Chiefs and they probably know how much
- 11:46Speaker 3: this game means. And look forty to nine. You're never
- 11:48Speaker 3: going to really complain with the final like that, especially
- 11:50Speaker 3: when James Cook is finding this much green when you
- 11:53Speaker 3: can't see another panther in the screen, usually a good
- 11:56Speaker 3: sign for the running back. And you know, they kept
- 11:58Speaker 3: giving them the ball. He could have had three hundred
- 11:59Speaker 3: yards if it was a closer game. So that was
- 12:02Speaker 3: a terrific development. The offensive line really kind of dominating
- 12:05Speaker 3: up front. Still want to see a little bit more
- 12:07Speaker 3: crisp execution offensively. It's you know it's going to come
- 12:11Speaker 3: at some point. I suspect do they have the horses
- 12:14Speaker 3: at receiver. I don't know. But the big question on
- 12:16Speaker 3: defense for them now at Oliver's injury. I think that's
- 12:20Speaker 3: the big one. His peck injury is going to be
- 12:22Speaker 3: a concern. Don't know if he's out for the year,
- 12:24Speaker 3: but it's certainly going to be out for a while.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Stings too, just because you get Larry Ogunjobi back, you
- 12:29Speaker 3: get Michael Hoyt back. He had a big game Sunday.
- 12:32Speaker 3: It felt like that defensive line was really kind of
- 12:34Speaker 3: coming together. Now all of a sudden they have one
- 12:36Speaker 3: of their best players out, so still kind of pumping
- 12:39Speaker 3: the brakes slightly, but a win over the Chiefs next
- 12:41Speaker 3: week could obviously flip that pretty quickly.
- 12:43Speaker 2: I cannot wait to see if because if that does happen,
- 12:45Speaker 2: where you end up putting case and where you put
- 12:47Speaker 2: Buffalo I think is going to be one of those interesting,
- 12:49Speaker 2: oh yeah wories. I'll be reading it Monday night, super late,
- 12:51Speaker 2: while you're sleeping on the couch. Sheet Again, it's time
- 12:55Speaker 2: for her the Team of the Week. It's presented by
- 12:58Speaker 2: Truest at number ten. It's a Broncos squad. You could
- 13:01Speaker 2: say what you want. I love what this team does offensively,
- 13:04Speaker 2: you know, I know there's been a little bit of
- 13:06Speaker 2: some hiccups and some roller coaster moments for him. But
- 13:08Speaker 2: I'll give them the benefit of the doubt that Bonnicks
- 13:10Speaker 2: has got to figure it out, and we'll have it
- 13:11Speaker 2: figured out the rest of the way. I think the
- 13:13Speaker 2: most impressive thing that we saw from this win. I
- 13:16Speaker 2: loved Dak and what this offense has been doing for
- 13:19Speaker 2: the Cowboys erk like they shut them down now all
- 13:22Speaker 2: of a sudden, I take a step back and say,
- 13:23Speaker 2: all right, I know Denvers lost a couple games, those
- 13:25Speaker 2: are walk off field goals late could have gone the
- 13:28Speaker 2: other way. This to me is one of the best
- 13:31Speaker 2: teams in the NFL, and I'm almost surprised. I know
- 13:33Speaker 2: you have them tenth, but I think there's an argument
- 13:35Speaker 2: they could have even been a little bit higher.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there are a lot of teams in
- 13:39Speaker 3: this range, right, the Bills could certainly rise New England
- 13:41Speaker 3: and Denver. I mean, obviously, we've, like you said, we've
- 13:44Speaker 3: seen games where they've had some early hiccups. And when
- 13:47Speaker 3: both threw that interception on the third play of the game,
- 13:49Speaker 3: I went, oh, another slow start, but they quickly ended
- 13:53Speaker 3: that talk. I mean, I think touchdowns and four of
- 13:55Speaker 3: their next five drives, and you know, Nicks had his
- 13:57Speaker 3: best game.
- 13:58Speaker 2: RJ.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Harvey had his best game. Had the touchdown receiving right there.
- 14:02Speaker 3: Also had two rushing, one from a wow well kat
- 14:05Speaker 3: and one just a clean forty yard run around the end,
- 14:07Speaker 3: So you know they're finding more ways to get him involved.
- 14:10Speaker 3: You know, Courtland Sutton did have the touchdown drop and
- 14:13Speaker 3: he caught a beautiful one later. This was as close
- 14:15Speaker 3: to perfect execution for this team this season, so great
- 14:19Speaker 3: on both sides of the ball. Big worry though with
- 14:21Speaker 3: Patrick Certan he missed half the game. He's going to
- 14:24Speaker 3: miss some time to with that peck injury. You see
- 14:26Speaker 3: him kind of flexing there right now. Riley Moss has
- 14:29Speaker 3: been picked on, there's no doubt about it, so that
- 14:31Speaker 3: pass rush and the other defenders on the field have
- 14:34Speaker 3: to really kind of do their job. Chris Abrams Drain
- 14:36Speaker 3: likely to take the starting job there, and you know
- 14:38Speaker 3: that's why they drafted Jade Baron in round one, just
- 14:40Speaker 3: to have more depth. I think on that side of
- 14:42Speaker 3: the ball, their defense was believed to be the unit
- 14:44Speaker 3: that was going to carry them while the offense kind
- 14:47Speaker 3: of matured and reached a peak performance.
- 14:50Speaker 2: The nixt touchdown is Sutton. I don't know if he
- 14:52Speaker 2: could have placed the ball better. What a beautiful ball
- 14:56Speaker 2: that bow Knicks was able to throw there. Nick's not
- 14:59Speaker 2: only their young quarterback having success at number eleven. Patriots
- 15:03Speaker 2: Drake may I keep hearing his name being sprinkled into
- 15:05Speaker 2: that MVP conversation. I don't know if I'm quite ready
- 15:08Speaker 2: to go there. He's having a great year. I mentioned
- 15:10Speaker 2: this before, with the Chiefs one of two teams in
- 15:12Speaker 2: the NFL top five offense, top five defense, it's this
- 15:15Speaker 2: Patriots team that's there as well. I couldn't help but
- 15:17Speaker 2: notice on your article on NFL dot com with regard
- 15:20Speaker 2: to these power rankings, you mentioning a softer schedule for
- 15:23Speaker 2: the Patriots. I know you're doing some schedule watching while
- 15:25Speaker 2: you're tracking with this team and what every team can
- 15:28Speaker 2: do in the league. How important is that is you
- 15:31Speaker 2: project out on where this team might finish this year.
- 15:34Speaker 3: Yeah, early in the year we looked at the schedules
- 15:37Speaker 3: and the strength of schedule based on the projected wins,
- 15:39Speaker 3: not necessarily last year's win percentage, and he said, man,
- 15:43Speaker 3: the Patriots have some games they can win forty nine
- 15:45Speaker 3: ers two and it's holding up with New England. They
- 15:48Speaker 3: have a very very favorable schedule. Their nine remaining opponents
- 15:51Speaker 3: have a win percentage of three sixty two. No other
- 15:54Speaker 3: team is below four hundreds, So that tells you quite
- 15:57Speaker 3: a bit. Even with the Ravens on this schedule expected
- 16:00Speaker 3: to be much better than their record indicates. This is
- 16:02Speaker 3: a team the offense is humming. Yeah, le Garrett did
- 16:05Speaker 3: cause some problems four five sacks. They had six total
- 16:08Speaker 3: as a team. But the big pass plays May's legs,
- 16:11Speaker 3: He's really used them every single game, and the increased
- 16:15Speaker 3: improvement of the New England defense. Maybe not the three
- 16:18Speaker 3: best teams they faced the last three weeks since Buffalo,
- 16:20Speaker 3: but still you're seeing better execution on that side of
- 16:23Speaker 3: the ball, and uh, you know, I can't wait to
- 16:25Speaker 3: see how they match up with teams like Tampa Bay
- 16:27Speaker 3: and Baltimore, some of the better teams left on their schedule.
- 16:30Speaker 2: Only thing I'll throw out there with regard to this
- 16:32Speaker 2: Patriots team offensive line play Drake May. I feel like
- 16:35Speaker 2: he's been getting beat up a little bit. Just a
- 16:38Speaker 2: storyline to watch as the season progresses over the next
- 16:41Speaker 2: few weeks. Time for power Moves. It's presented by Energizer,
- 16:45Speaker 2: moving up five spots into the twelfth position. We got
- 16:49Speaker 2: a Chargers team. Do you want to talk Justin Herbert
- 16:51Speaker 2: on the football field or all the posts on social
- 16:53Speaker 2: media with his girlfriends at Madison Beer that's the girlfriend's name.
- 16:56Speaker 2: I feel like they're everywhere, Lakers game, Halloween costumes. I
- 17:01Speaker 2: like this is a different side of Justin. I've known
- 17:03Speaker 2: him since he was out all It's kind of cool
- 17:06Speaker 2: to see like having some fun in real life. And
- 17:09Speaker 2: clearly when his team's healthy, you get to all back
- 17:11Speaker 2: into the lineup like this team's dangerous all of a
- 17:14Speaker 2: sudden again.
- 17:15Speaker 3: Absolutely, And what I love about Justin is after a
- 17:18Speaker 3: win he'll use a little of that subtle sarcasm too,
- 17:20Speaker 3: he says, bright guy. You know you remember the Oregon
- 17:22Speaker 3: dais he was studying like molecular biology or whatever, but
- 17:26Speaker 3: now he's studying football. Three ozho one. It feels like
- 17:28Speaker 3: he's taking a big step this year, even with that
- 17:31Speaker 3: little lull and you know, taking some hits and making
- 17:34Speaker 3: some interceptions, but with Aronde Gatston really breaking out the
- 17:37Speaker 3: last couple of games, he looks like Antonio Gates. I
- 17:40Speaker 3: mean this is the second coming almost. He's been really impressive.
- 17:42Speaker 3: We know, Lad McConkie can do it, you know. I
- 17:45Speaker 3: mean they have veteran receivers too. It was a really
- 17:48Speaker 3: smart performance from him and a really sharp one from
- 17:51Speaker 3: the offense. I mean, Camanie Vaidale helped obviously help move
- 17:54Speaker 3: the chains. Joe All coming back on the on the
- 17:57Speaker 3: offensive line was absolutely terrific, and you know, even if
- 18:00Speaker 3: it wasn't a perfect night for him, the execution overall
- 18:03Speaker 3: was much better. Herb had clean pockets and boy, when
- 18:07Speaker 3: he's like that, I mean, when they give him time
- 18:09Speaker 3: to operate, this is a really tough team. I am
- 18:11Speaker 3: worried about Derwin James Tarheb's still both injured on defense.
- 18:15Speaker 3: That's probably the concern of the team. And it's too
- 18:17Speaker 3: bad because this last performance against the Vikings one of
- 18:20Speaker 3: their best of the season. So we'll see how they
- 18:22Speaker 3: hold up after that. I mean, no division games till
- 18:24Speaker 3: after the bye, so they got a little time to
- 18:26Speaker 3: kind of get right.
- 18:28Speaker 2: I know, we got to get to Texans real quick.
- 18:30Speaker 2: Just give me one team name a Broncos, Chargers and
- 18:32Speaker 2: Chiefs right now in this division? Who takes it?
- 18:35Speaker 3: I still go Chiefs. I think they're they're the favorites
- 18:38Speaker 3: until they're not.
- 18:39Speaker 2: You know, it's trying to bait you a little bit.
- 18:41Speaker 2: I just wanted to see if you would lean towards
- 18:43Speaker 2: in one of those still other squads. It's gonna be
- 18:45Speaker 2: a hell of a race down the stretch here all
- 18:47Speaker 2: of these teams, six and two, five and three, five
- 18:49Speaker 2: and three, for all of those squads. Meanwhile, the Texans,
- 18:52Speaker 2: they're at seventeen. I'm doing the pregame show game day
- 18:55Speaker 2: preview on Sunday. Steve White is telling me, Hey, like
- 18:58Speaker 2: this offense issues issues issues. Boy. I texted him a
- 19:01Speaker 2: couple of minutes into that game. I said, hey, I
- 19:03Speaker 2: think they heard you. Euston's offense looked normal against CJ.
- 19:06Speaker 2: Stroud looked like the guy that I saw a couple
- 19:08Speaker 2: of years ago. Can we say, like, hey, this is
- 19:11Speaker 2: a launching pad for what could still be for a
- 19:14Speaker 2: team that's got one of more dangerous defenses in the NFL.
- 19:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, you know, the first quarter of the season,
- 19:21Speaker 3: first third of the season, we're bemoaning the fact that
- 19:23Speaker 3: they have this amazing statistical defense right it ranks up
- 19:26Speaker 3: there amongst the best in the league. They might be
- 19:28Speaker 3: pound for pound the best defense, but when the offense
- 19:31Speaker 3: wasn't getting it done. It reflected in the record. Now
- 19:34Speaker 3: they're starting to win some games because the run game
- 19:37Speaker 3: is going, the offensive line is blocking better, the play
- 19:39Speaker 3: action game is open up, and Stroud has started to
- 19:42Speaker 3: play more like he did for the majority of his
- 19:45Speaker 3: rookie year. Then I would say that, you know, he
- 19:47Speaker 3: did for long stretches last year. It was a little disappointing.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Things looked more disjointed, the play calling wasn't great. So
- 19:53Speaker 3: you know, everything is kind of coming together. I credit
- 19:57Speaker 3: Demiko Ryans for not letting this team get down when
- 20:01Speaker 3: the losses started piling out, because he knew he had
- 20:03Speaker 3: a good football team. And even and you know, with
- 20:06Speaker 3: some setbacks along the way, even the Seattle game comes
- 20:08Speaker 3: to mind, this team can hang with virtually anybody, especially
- 20:11Speaker 3: in the AFC side, where that defense can slow down
- 20:14Speaker 3: some of those great quarterbacks.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Find out if they're real. Against the Broncos. By the way,
- 20:18Speaker 2: well done, because I haven't heard too many people talk
- 20:20Speaker 2: about Demiko, and I actually think it's a really good point.
- 20:22Speaker 2: The way this season was playing, it almost felt like
- 20:24Speaker 2: it could spiral out of control. That was an important
- 20:26Speaker 2: win against a team that we feel is pretty good.
- 20:29Speaker 2: In the San Francisco forty nine ers. There's one team
- 20:32Speaker 2: in particular that I think it's pretty good, but they
- 20:33Speaker 2: only got two wins on the season. Apparently they're still
- 20:36Speaker 2: the favorite to go and win the division. I swear
- 20:39Speaker 2: I'm not lying. Where the Ravens sit in the power
- 20:41Speaker 2: rankings is coming up next? Got here on power rankings,
- 20:59Speaker 2: we got team seventeen through twenty four. The Chicago Bears
- 21:02Speaker 2: dropped in three spots. They had one four straight games,
- 21:04Speaker 2: had some issues on Sunday. The Commander's falling two spots
- 21:07Speaker 2: at eighteen, the Ravens at nineteen, the Falcons what's going
- 21:10Speaker 2: on with that squad at twenty, Carolina twenty one, The
- 21:13Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboy is stropping two spots to twenty two, the
- 21:16Speaker 2: Vikings once again, Jaj McCarthy will get the start this week,
- 21:19Speaker 2: and we got the Arizona Cardinals sitting at twenty four.
- 21:23Speaker 2: All Right, what am I supposed to make of what
- 21:25Speaker 2: I'm watching? Offensively from the Bears, I know you're in
- 21:27Speaker 2: that city. I'm sure talk radio is buzzing about this. Dude.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It feels like a real rollercoaster.
- 21:32Speaker 3: Here, it does. Yeah, I mean, everyone wanted to know
- 21:35Speaker 3: how would Caleb Williams and Ben Johnson work together. And
- 21:39Speaker 3: that interception was obviously the kind of the backbreaker, if
- 21:42Speaker 3: you will, and you saw the reaction from Johnson didn't
- 21:45Speaker 3: love it. And you know, the reality is that Caleb
- 21:47Speaker 3: had a tough game. I mean, they didn't execute in
- 21:49Speaker 3: the red zone the first two drives. He had a
- 21:51Speaker 3: couple grounding calls in the first half. You know, there
- 21:53Speaker 3: were some big pass plays, but combine that with a
- 21:57Speaker 3: soso running game performance really kind of driven the team
- 22:00Speaker 3: recent games. It's not going to add up, you know,
- 22:02Speaker 3: and the defense was short, some members weren't taking the
- 22:05Speaker 3: football away the way they have and a lot of
- 22:07Speaker 3: other wins and that's how you lose to you know,
- 22:10Speaker 3: Lamar Jackson is not out there, and you still find
- 22:13Speaker 3: a way to lose against a team that hadn't won
- 22:15Speaker 3: very much this year. So missed opportunity for Chicago after
- 22:18Speaker 3: the four wins. Highly disappointing, but you know, again they've
- 22:22Speaker 3: helped themselves throughout the course of the season. Now the
- 22:24Speaker 3: question is how does Caleb and Ben Johnson get back
- 22:26Speaker 3: on track.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Mentioned losing that game without a Lamar Jackson out on
- 22:29Speaker 2: the football field, Kudos to Tyler Huntley Snoop looked like
- 22:33Speaker 2: one of the better backups in the NFL. Didn't make
- 22:35Speaker 2: a whole lot of mistakes in that win. They move
- 22:37Speaker 2: up four spots in the power rankings. They're sitting at
- 22:40Speaker 2: two and five. FanDuel says, there's still the favorites in
- 22:43Speaker 2: that division. How much are you buying that a two
- 22:45Speaker 2: win football team at this point still could win this thing?
- 22:49Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I understand. You know, maybe some Steelers fans
- 22:51Speaker 3: out there are denying that the Ravens could win the division,
- 22:54Speaker 3: and a couple of weeks ago it felt like Pittsburgh
- 22:56Speaker 3: had a hammer lock on that thing. But yeah, you
- 22:58Speaker 3: see the way they're playing much much, much better defensively
- 23:02Speaker 3: against the Rams, and then over the bye against the
- 23:04Speaker 3: Bears to Lamar Jackson, expected back Derek Henry had some
- 23:08Speaker 3: okay run Sunday. You're starting to re see the receiver's day.
- 23:10Speaker 3: Flowers get more involved, So the pieces are all there.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Tyler Loop's been hitting field goals like crazy this year.
- 23:16Speaker 3: So all three phases have promising qualities to them, and
- 23:20Speaker 3: you could see them with this schedule getting back to
- 23:23Speaker 3: five and five before November's at which is crazy to
- 23:25Speaker 3: say but it's the reality, and I think they're coming.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I'm just pulling up the box score here as we
- 23:30Speaker 2: focus our attention on the Atlanta Falcons. I just wanted
- 23:32Speaker 2: to confirm this done carries for Jean Robinson. He had
- 23:35Speaker 2: three catches in this game. What in the world is
- 23:38Speaker 2: going on? Like it isn't shouldn't he just be the
- 23:41Speaker 2: focal player? I mean, Kirk Cousins was starting. I thought
- 23:43Speaker 2: there was going to be a monster game for the
- 23:44Speaker 2: running back.
- 23:46Speaker 3: Absolutely I figured so too. I mean, if anybody figured
- 23:49Speaker 3: that the Miami Dolphins would outrush the Atlanta Falcons in
- 23:52Speaker 3: Atlanta by almost one hundred yards, boy, kudos to you.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I never could have predicted that in my life. But
- 23:58Speaker 3: it was like a reversal of fortune. The Dolphins went
- 24:00Speaker 3: out there and established a line of scrimmage, They moved
- 24:02Speaker 3: people off the line, they ran the ball and then
- 24:04Speaker 3: play action shots, and that very good Falcons defense was
- 24:08Speaker 3: beat up. On the other side, Bijon had the early fumble.
- 24:11Speaker 3: They were stacking the box. They were daring Kirk Cousins
- 24:14Speaker 3: to beat them. He couldn't do it. And you know,
- 24:16Speaker 3: really disappointing game all around. If they already hopes for
- 24:19Speaker 3: Kirk to get traded or anything, but Falcons all of
- 24:21Speaker 3: a sudden, you know, back to kind of square one,
- 24:23Speaker 3: if you will. After that, Big Bills win. Yeah.
- 24:25Speaker 2: Now, match up on the road against the Patriots teams
- 24:27Speaker 2: twenty five through thirty two. Cincinnati, what happened there at
- 24:30Speaker 2: twenty five, the Dolphins at twenty six. The Giants drop
- 24:33Speaker 2: a spot. Nope, cam scad being the rest of the season,
- 24:35Speaker 2: most likely because they had dislocated ankle. We got the
- 24:38Speaker 2: Browns at twenty eight, the Raiders at twenty nine, the
- 24:40Speaker 2: Saints Tyler Schuck will get the starts, according to Ian Rappaport,
- 24:43Speaker 2: against the Rams, the Jets at thirty one, and the
- 24:45Speaker 2: Titans at thirty two. Can we just love up real quick?
- 24:48Speaker 2: Aaron Glenn, I mean, win number one. I just wanted
- 24:50Speaker 2: to see him dance.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Nick Mangold's death was a shock to Jets community. Justin
- 24:55Speaker 3: Fields had the week from hell, and they went out
- 24:57Speaker 3: there and won an incredible game. Good for them and
- 24:59Speaker 3: good for them. Get off the the schneid.
- 25:01Speaker 2: I would imagine it's Justin Fields the rest of the way.
- 25:03Speaker 2: Always appreciate you guys watching Power rankings.
