- 0:01Hello. We're going to.
- 0:01He's hopping. Something's off of me.
- 0:04Just Joey T, how are you doing all in the Internet today.
- 0:09There is this one car that I think they are in the apartment
- 0:14next to ours, the next building over, and it's a very loud car
- 0:20like the engine and the exhaust is really, really loud.
- 0:24And it's so loud that from one building over from inside my
- 0:28apartment, no matter what I'm doing, I can have the TV on, I
- 0:32can music on. I can always hear that car start
- 0:35up. It's an extremely loud car.
- 0:37My car is actually pretty loud, as though my car has an optional
- 0:42exhaust package that came from the factory with like an extra
- 0:45loud exhaust. But it's not like obnoxiously
- 0:50that. It's not like those.
- 0:51Sometimes you see those sports cars that like just cruise down
- 0:55Santa Monica Blvd. At like 5 or 10 miles an hour
- 0:58and all they do is like ref the engine.
- 0:59My car is not like that loud. Actually there is.
- 1:02There's this one black Beamer in my building and I don't know
- 1:06which unit drives. It's like some guy and the like
- 1:11three or four times where I happen to be in the garage.
- 1:15While that car is like pulling in or pulling out of the garage,
- 1:18he drives like too fast. Or a tiny little parking garage
- 1:24for this, like apartment building.
- 1:26Like when you're in a parking garage, you do not need to Rev
- 1:30your engine and you don't need to like floor it and like screw
- 1:35your tires or anything like that.
- 1:36One time I try to One time I saw him try to park, I was doing
- 1:41laundry. Our laundry is in our parking
- 1:43garage level and I was walking to do laundry and then he was
- 1:47like pulling each in a park. He sounds like either he really
- 1:53doesn't know how to park or maybe he's driving a manual and
- 1:56he doesn't know his how to use his clutch because he was just
- 1:58giving it like way too much gas and like just way too much Revs
- 2:03on the engine. So I like, you know, in general,
- 2:07I like a good sounding car like Ava that's got like, you know,
- 2:12like a nice sounding exhaust. I'm a car person, so I
- 2:15appreciate that. Except, you know, like, you
- 2:18don't need to Rev your engine in, you know, like a small
- 2:22little parking lot like that in an apartment building.
- 2:24Like, there's honestly, like, no one is impressed how small is
- 2:27your fucking Dick, right? So there's like this one car
- 2:30that's like, it's just this one black Beamer in my building.
- 2:32It's just like you don't need to squeak your tires and floor in
- 2:37and out of the parking garage. Honestly anyways, as we are
- 2:43recording this, I'm calling this a little earlier than usual.
- 2:46I am currently packing to go to Chicago for a market day, so
- 2:52when this goes up on Thursday, I'll already be in Chicago.
- 2:56I love going to Chicago for market days and it's not.
- 2:59Technically, the Chicago Pride Market Days is like a separate
- 3:03event, but I feel like Pride in a lot of U.S. cities is pretty
- 3:09similar. There is a parade one day of the
- 3:13weekend usually, and there is like all all the bars and clubs
- 3:17and stuff, gay bars and gay clubs.
- 3:19They've got stuff going on. There's usually some amount of
- 3:22circuit parties that are thrown over the weekend, and some
- 3:26cities might have, like a street fair or like some sort of
- 3:30outdoor thing. And that's where I think that's
- 3:34the chance, where cities can make their Pride weekend unique.
- 3:37Because bars and clubs, at least in the US, in the major cities
- 3:42here in one gay bar, is not so different than another gay bar.
- 3:47You know, every major US city have gay bars and clubs that
- 3:51they're known for, right? You go to, like, San Francisco,
- 3:53You go to, like, the Castro in LA, you go to Wee Ho.
- 3:56And, you know, in New York, you go to Hell's Kitchen, You'd like
- 3:59the typical, like, gay neighborhood where all the bars
- 4:02are. Yeah, each of these cities have
- 4:05kind of like the famous or popular gay bars and clubs that
- 4:09they have. But honestly, none of them are
- 4:13so wildly different. You go to 1 Gay Bar, you've kind
- 4:17of sort of know how all the other gay bars kind of work.
- 4:20So I think I like market days. It's because of the outdoor
- 4:26festival that they have. It's on Saturdays and Sundays
- 4:29and it's right in kind of like the gay neighborhood.
- 4:33And that means it's not just like the regular St.
- 4:37Fairs where you have vendors and food and kind of like the pop up
- 4:41stuff. It also kind of includes some of
- 4:45the gay bars and clubs that they have.
- 4:47It's just right on this one street where all the everything
- 4:50is. So like the street fair.
- 4:53I feel like it's a lot of fun in we for we hold pride.
- 4:57They did have like a similar thing this year.
- 5:00There's actually like a Ferris wheel and all that kind of
- 5:02stuff, but the one here I felt like it was completely separate
- 5:06from the gay bars and stuff. The one in Chicago for Market
- 5:08Day is really fun because they've got different stages
- 5:12available. Oh, the food there is really
- 5:14good. The food there is really good.
- 5:16The other unique thing about the Street Fair for Chicago Market
- 5:21Days is that there's a Steam Works in Chicago.
- 5:25There's only like not, there's actually not that many Steam
- 5:28Works locations like most cities have like a gay bath house.
- 5:31But it's kind of sort of unique in that in Chicago you have like
- 5:34one of the big name bath houses which is Steam Works and it's
- 5:38like right in the middle of Boys Town.
- 5:40It's like right in the middle of like the gay neighborhood.
- 5:43It's one of the oh, are we going to spill the tea?
- 5:46It's like one of the few times of the year where I may go to a
- 5:52gay bathhouse because even in LA I'm sure they exist.
- 5:55I've never been to one in Vancouver.
- 5:58In Canada there is another Steam Works that I have been to like a
- 6:04few times, but that's really only because like I grew up in
- 6:08Vancouver and like I visit Vancouver all the time.
- 6:11To be honest I haven't been to Steam works in like several
- 6:15years I think because obviously the Pandemic that kind of stuff
- 6:19only reopen I think maybe earlier this year or maybe last
- 6:25year and yeah even when I was in Vancouver Oh yeah it was that
- 6:31was definitely pre Pandemic that that was like the last time that
- 6:34I went. But yeah just something about
- 6:37Chicago is with the city. I just really like the vibe of
- 6:39it. So I really enjoyed going to
- 6:41market days. I've been to market days three
- 6:44or four times. I was kind of sort of on the
- 6:46fence about going this year, but I found out that there were some
- 6:50friends that were going, some other people.
- 6:52I knew they were there. I have some, I have some good
- 6:54friends that actually live in Chicago as well.
- 6:56So it's like, cool, let's do it. You know, not a super far plane
- 7:01ride from LA to Chicago. So I'm packing and doing all
- 7:04that and I'll be flying out there in a few days.
- 7:08Speaking of flying, I just got back from Vancouver.
- 7:11I was up there just for a few days to visit some family, and
- 7:13one thing I wanted to talk about was tips for going to the
- 7:21airport. So I fly all the time.
- 7:23I mentioned it before. It's very autopilot for me to
- 7:29like, pack, go to the airport, go through security, the TSA, go
- 7:34through like password control, that kind of stuff, get on a
- 7:37plane, all that kind of stuff. It's very, very easy for second
- 7:40nature only because I do it so much like at least once a month
- 7:45I would take a trip. Sometimes it's like two or three
- 7:46times a month I would do a trip somewhere or fly to fly
- 7:50somewhere. But when I fly these days, I
- 7:55drive to LAXI Park in the economy parking which is off the
- 8:00not where the terminals are. You take a shuttle and then it
- 8:04will stop at all the different terminals and that's how you get
- 8:07to the terminal. So one thing that always catches
- 8:10my ear is when passengers on that shuttle to the terminals,
- 8:16when they know what airline they're flying, but they have no
- 8:20idea what terminal they're supposed to go to.
- 8:24And a lot of the times they'll try to ask the bus driver
- 8:32whether they know like, I'm flying Alaska, like, you know,
- 8:37like can you drop us off at Alaska.
- 8:39But I don't know if the shuttle bus drivers for the economy
- 8:44parking are particularly chatty or maybe they just get asked the
- 8:50question so often that they just kind of sort of give up.
- 8:52Some of the drivers will be like, OK, you're Alaska, that's
- 8:56that terminal. Whatever, I'll drop you off
- 8:58there. Just last time that I was flying
- 9:01out to Vancouver last week and there are people that were on
- 9:05vacation that they clearly don't fly very much.
- 9:08They knew what airline they were going to but have no idea like,
- 9:11oh, there are different terminals at the airport.
- 9:15They were just like, oh, they got in the shuttle and they're
- 9:17like they have no idea where to get off.
- 9:19And I I think they try to yell from the back of the shuttle to
- 9:22like the bus driver, which I guess like the bus driver either
- 9:25didn't hear because it was so noisy or they just don't
- 9:30respond. If you're just trying to yell
- 9:31from the back, maybe he's like walk up there and like have a
- 9:35conversation that way. Anyways, so it was like these
- 9:38two or three families are like they were on the.
- 9:40They're trying to go on a family vacation.
- 9:42I guess the height of summer, all these families go on
- 9:44vacation. They just had like no idea where
- 9:45they're going. The only thing I did remember
- 9:48besides that was it took 25 minutes for that shuttle to like
- 9:51make its way because there's so many people traveling.
- 9:54People had like tons of luggage. We would have their kids and
- 9:56everything. And for me, I was like just in
- 9:59the in the back little corner of the back of the bus.
- 10:02And I was just like I was trying to just ignore everything that
- 10:09was going on around me because I was just like I'm just trying to
- 10:12get to my terminal. Terminal 7 is the last terminal
- 10:15it stops at and it stops at every other terminal before it
- 10:18stops at terminal 7, which is the one I need.
- 10:20So I was like, I just want to get to my terminal.
- 10:22I just want to get to my terminal and it was taking
- 10:24forever. What I thought I would do is for
- 10:28those of you that don't fly that much if you have a trip coming
- 10:34up, I just want to give you a few tips for like getting to the
- 10:37airport and maybe even some tips for getting through a security
- 10:42or getting through the TSA. I feel like people that don't
- 10:45fly very much going through security in TSA.
- 10:49The extent of knowledge they have about the TSA is only the
- 10:54news articles that come out once in a while about how jam packed
- 10:59the airports are, how busy travel is that you have to show
- 11:02like 3 hours or some stupid shit before your flight or something
- 11:06like that. How much random stuff the TSA
- 11:08finds. And sometimes if there's like an
- 11:11incident at the TSA at a checkpoint because of this or
- 11:14that or whatever, I feel like we don't fight very much.
- 11:17But you do watch the news all the time, that's you don't have
- 11:19a great perception of the TSA. But it's very, very simple.
- 11:23So let me give you some tips. Don't the terminal you're going
- 11:28to so know which terminal you're going to.
- 11:30Like if you're gonna take an Uber or something.
- 11:33I mean, sometimes the Uber will know where they drop you off,
- 11:37sometimes you don't. But you need to know where
- 11:39you're going. It's great that you know what
- 11:40airline you're flying with, but you need to know, OK, I need to
- 11:45look up my flight status before I leave the house.
- 11:48You can just log onto the Internet.
- 11:51You know what flight you're taking is like Alaska 1234 or
- 11:55something. You just Google that, you just
- 11:56put it Alaska 1234 and then it pops up the status.
- 11:59Like, Google does all the work for you, literally, And it would
- 12:02tell you like what terminal you're supposed to be at and
- 12:05what your gate number is, the gate number subject to change,
- 12:07But like, at least know what terminal you're at?
- 12:09Because I just can't believe how many people on this shuttle bus
- 12:11that I take all the time, how many people have no idea what
- 12:14terminal they're going to get off at.
- 12:16I'm sure a lot of these people have just gone off the wrong
- 12:18terminal with all their luggage, and then they spend probably
- 12:21like 1520 minutes figure on how to get to the right terminal.
- 12:25There's another bus for that, by the way.
- 12:28Yeah. So just know which terminal
- 12:30you're going to before you head to the airport.
- 12:34Go to the right airport. I've, I've heard stories of
- 12:36people not going to the right airport in cities rather than
- 12:39multiple airports in like New York, for example, are you going
- 12:43to La Guardia? Are you going to New York?
- 12:45Are you going to JFK? Because there's three different
- 12:49airports you'd be going to if you go to the wrong airport.
- 12:53It could take way too long to get to the right airport and you
- 12:57might just miss your flight. So there you go.
- 12:59It's not super common though. Not a lot of cities have like
- 13:01tons of different airports. Now, I never get to a flight 3
- 13:06hours before I can a standard recommendation that you get the
- 13:08two hours before, right? But then when they had some,
- 13:12like issues with some of the airports earlier this year or
- 13:15like last year when they said, oh, it was like too busy or when
- 13:18there's like weather and that kind of stuff and they say, oh,
- 13:20you should go extra early, get there like 3 hours before.
- 13:23No one needs to be there for three hours before.
- 13:24I think the only thing most people need extra time for is to
- 13:29get through security, but sometimes there's a lineup for
- 13:32that. Now I will show up at the
- 13:35terminal literally less than an hour before the flight departs,
- 13:41and the flight boards like 40 minutes before I show up like
- 13:45like an hour or sometimes like a little less.
- 13:48So the flight is sketched for 11:00 AM.
- 13:50I'll get there at like 10 AM and then I have 20 minutes to get
- 13:56through security or do whatever I need to do for my water bottle
- 14:00and then usually 40 minutes for my flight.
- 14:02That's when it starts boarding and I usually board like early
- 14:05on in the process. Now I don't recommend this and I
- 14:09only do this because of two things.
- 14:14One, I have TSA pre-check and two, I have a clear membership.
- 14:18So this basically means I almost never wait more than like one or
- 14:25two, maybe 5 minutes at the very most to go through the
- 14:29checkpoint. And then when I do get to the
- 14:31front of the line of the checkpoint, I don't have to take
- 14:34my liquids out. I don't have to take my laptop
- 14:35out. I don't have to take my tablets
- 14:36off, I don't have to take my shoes, I don't have to take my
- 14:38jacket, things like that because I'm in the pre-check line and
- 14:42most people are not in that line.
- 14:44So I basically like from getting to the terminal to getting
- 14:48through security is usually like less than 10 minutes and then I
- 14:52just have like 10 or 50 minutes to kill before I need to board.
- 14:56So for me that's just like waste of time, but that's how that's
- 14:59how that's how close I cut it. And that doesn't work for most
- 15:03people. By the way, if you can get pre
- 15:06checked like please go get pre checked.
- 15:08Even if you only fly like twice a year, there's a lot of people
- 15:12only fly maybe a couple times a year for like Christmas or
- 15:16Thanksgiving or like a summer vacation.
- 15:19If you if that's you like you please go get Precheck.
- 15:25It might be like, I don't know how much it costs like 50 bucks
- 15:28or like 100 bucks or something. If you're going to travel during
- 15:31the summer or you're going to travel during like, especially
- 15:34during the holidays, Precheck will like save your life.
- 15:38It is like even if you only do it like doing the major
- 15:41holidays, you only fly for like Memorial Day or Thanksgiving or
- 15:45like Christmas or New Year's or something like that.
- 15:47You only fly like maybe twice a year or something.
- 15:50If you fly on the major holidays in the US, get prechecked.
- 15:54They having times where if I didn't have precheck I would
- 15:56have missed my flight. Like again, I'm cutting it
- 15:58close, but like, yeah, it's just the lineups get so long.
- 16:02The regular lineups, I don't technically know how long the
- 16:05regular lineups are because it's been so long.
- 16:07So I've been in a regular lineup at an airport.
- 16:10I'm always on the pre-check and I'm always on the clear line
- 16:12nowadays. But I've seen that line
- 16:14sometimes of the corner of my eye and it's like that.
- 16:17Lineups got to take like an hour or like 45 minutes, and it's
- 16:23especially doing the big major holidays like that's going to be
- 16:28an even longer wait. It's just not worth it to like
- 16:31have to waste all this time to like get to the airport like
- 16:34super, super early and be standing in this line for like
- 16:36over an hour. You know, when it's like, you
- 16:39know, a busy time of the year to get through security.
- 16:43I think like spending. I'm going to Google this right
- 16:46now. I just really don't think it's
- 16:48it's worth most people's time to like be standing in that lineup
- 16:51for so long. A lot of airlines will like we
- 16:54have some sort of status or you just sign for the membership.
- 16:57Sometimes you get it for discounted, like a discount off
- 17:00the Precheck fare or if you have like some sort of travel credit
- 17:05card. Sometimes those who reimburse
- 17:06you the fee. But like Precheck has saved my
- 17:09life. I will never travel without
- 17:11Precheck in the US, but yeah, just get pre checked basically.
- 17:16I don't know how much it is, Google it.
- 17:17It can't cost that much. I think it's like 55 bucks or
- 17:20something like that. 55 bucks even unify like twice a year
- 17:24during the holidays or something like that.
- 17:26It's you're gonna be like, wow, I'm glad I spend the $55.
- 17:31Seriously. For sure.
- 17:33The other thing I wanna give tips on is going through the
- 17:37security, like actually going through the TSM.
- 17:40But you actually get to the front of that security line and
- 17:43you have to like get all your stuff scanned through the X-ray
- 17:46and they have to like walk through the body scanner.
- 17:49I don't understand all the people that wear okay.
- 17:54Let's just break this down. Like, don't wear a belt because
- 17:59the amount of times, countless amount of times that I've seen
- 18:03guys fumble with ticking off the belt, which seems like a very
- 18:09not elegant thing to do in public.
- 18:13Just being by like all these guys that just like kind of
- 18:16struggling, I'm surprised how many people struggle to take off
- 18:18their belt. You can't just like whip it out.
- 18:19I don't wear a bus. I don't know these things, but
- 18:22all these people that are wearing, like, first of all,
- 18:25straight guys are wearing pants are way too big for them,
- 18:28therefore necessitating the belt.
- 18:30Like without the belt, the pants are just like F and fall off.
- 18:33The second thing is they almost never ever remember take off
- 18:37their belt until like they're about to walk through the
- 18:40scanner and they set the scanner off.
- 18:42And then like the TSA agent tells them, do you, are you
- 18:45wearing a belt? Do you have anything in your
- 18:46pocket? They're like, oh, wearing a
- 18:47belt. And then now they have to put
- 18:49the belt through the X-ray scanner.
- 18:50But then by the time you are, you know, doing that, two other
- 18:54people have put their luggage onto the belt and like they have
- 18:57to cram it in somehow. It's just very, very messy.
- 19:02I would say if you're going to be flying on a plane, wear pants
- 19:07that don't need a belt for that plane ride.
- 19:09I think maybe in like the old golden days of flying, I don't
- 19:14know, back in like the 60s or 70s or something like that.
- 19:18It was more of an occasion to fly.
- 19:20So like, people dressed up a little bit to fly, I think these
- 19:24days, unless you need to go to a meeting immediately right after
- 19:31you get off the plane, like there's no need to.
- 19:33Like, you know where nice pants that actually require you to
- 19:38have a belt? Like there's no one on a plane
- 19:41that's going to care whether you're wearing a belt or not.
- 19:44And if your pants are so loose that without the belt they fall
- 19:48off, like go buy proper pants like your pants should not be
- 19:52that loose. Seriously, the amount of times
- 19:54that I've seen guys like walk through the scanner, the belt
- 19:57sets off the alarm. Now they have to like cram their
- 20:00belt onto the X-ray belt between other people's luggage like
- 20:05somehow and they have to walk through again.
- 20:08And then the final kicker is. Guys that have to do that I
- 20:13don't know what it is. It's not that hard to put in the
- 20:14belt right but it's not not the most easy thing I yeah but I see
- 20:18guys struggle to put their belt back on afterwards.
- 20:22It's like I don't know it's I I just can't understand how it's
- 20:26so hard for all these people to put in the but they but they
- 20:29look like they're really not having to put the belt on.
- 20:31They they they kind of sort of look like they're like solving a
- 20:36puzzle or it's like a Rubik's Cube or something put in their
- 20:38belt back on of getting this like belt through all the loops
- 20:42and everything seems like a stressful experience for like
- 20:46all these people but like. So my recommendation my tip is
- 20:51don't wear a belt to the airport.
- 20:53You don't need a belt on the plane ride.
- 20:55If you need to go to a business meeting right after the plane
- 20:59ride, just change into your nice clothes after you land like you.
- 21:06I'm sure you can spare like 2 minutes of time to just change
- 21:10afterwards. Like for the people that are.
- 21:12If you literally need to go from the airport to the office, like
- 21:15you can even then yeah, I'm sure you can spare 2 minutes going to
- 21:18the bathroom and just change into your clothes.
- 21:20And also that way the clothes that you wear into your, I
- 21:24guess, very important business meeting that you're flying to
- 21:27doesn't get like all wrinkled and scuffed up from lugging
- 21:30luggage around and sitting on the plane and like walking
- 21:33through airports and you know, whatever, right?
- 21:35Like you get to change into some fresh pants or suit or whatever
- 21:42people wear to business meetings these days.
- 21:43That's so important that you have to fly and go directly to
- 21:46it or whatever. Yeah.
- 21:48So just never really understood that.
- 21:50The other thing is that if I'm funny is when people are
- 21:52boarding a plane and they're holding everything in their
- 21:55hands, like they've got no pockets.
- 21:57So like, I don't know, it's always so weird.
- 21:59So I actually board kind of part of like the board very fairly
- 22:04early for most of the flights that I take.
- 22:06So I get to see other people walk down the aisle, I get to
- 22:10see 90% of plane of the passengers walk down the aisle.
- 22:13I'm just, like, sitting there getting settled, and it's
- 22:16amazing how many people have to hold on to everything in their
- 22:21hands as they board the plane, as if they can't put them away.
- 22:26Like they'll hold like a drink and their phone and their paper
- 22:31ticket and like a notebook and like a pillow and their
- 22:35headphones. Like people are holding a
- 22:37million different things as they're like walking down the
- 22:40very narrow, tight aisles of the airplanes.
- 22:43I'm like, don't you have pockets for these things?
- 22:47Honestly, the only thing you need to have in your hand is
- 22:51luggage. And if you have like a drink of
- 22:57coffee or something, yeah, you're holding onto that.
- 22:59If you bought some food like like take away food in the
- 23:02terminal that you're going to eat on the plane, yeah, you're
- 23:04maybe you're holding the take out bag.
- 23:06But yeah, it's like some of these people they're holding on
- 23:09to like everything. And like, yeah, it's quite
- 23:12confusing when people make things intentionally difficult
- 23:14for themselves. Like, do you need to hold on to,
- 23:16like, you need to hold on to, I don't know, all that stuff?
- 23:21Do you need to hold on to your makeup and your mascara and your
- 23:25cell phone and your dog and your whatever, It's all that stuff.
- 23:32So that's my second tip is like you wear pants with wear pants
- 23:38with pockets and you know you don't need to hold onto
- 23:41everything. Like you don't need to hold onto
- 23:43your phone. Honestly, once you're on the
- 23:45plane, just put your phone in your pocket so that you know you
- 23:47can have your hands free to hold your luggage and not be bumping
- 23:52all your shit into other people. Which is another one of my pet
- 23:55peeves. Anyways, I don't want this to
- 23:57turn into like, a rant, but yeah, so advice is don't wear
- 24:02belt, don't wear a belt to the airport, and don't hold on to
- 24:06all your shit when you're boarding a plane.
- 24:08So there you go. I should probably write some
- 24:10blog articles on my website. I think maybe that's like a more
- 24:12appropriate place for me to give some travel advice.
- 24:16The anyways, my Church of Vancouver was pretty good.
- 24:20I saw my niece and nephew I always liked I hang out with
- 24:23them. I hung out with a lot with my
- 24:25niece this time because my nephew was with my sister and
- 24:31brother-in-law kind of sort of doing his own thing.
- 24:35But my mom was babysitting my niece most of the time, so I
- 24:40hung up with her a bunch. And she's four years old now, so
- 24:45they are what they're. I was gonna say they're teaching
- 24:48her like the numbers and like the alphabet.
- 24:50I don't think they're teaching her that, but they got her some
- 24:54books so to like write their ABC's and like the 1-2 threes,
- 24:58so she knows like some of the numbers and some of the
- 25:02alphabets like the first five or something.
- 25:05So every day she would like write like a new number in like
- 25:08the lettering book and then write a new letter as well.
- 25:12And then she would, like, write a bunch of them and then she
- 25:15would show me, and I'm like, OK, these are in my head.
- 25:17I'm thinking these are getting progressively uglier.
- 25:20So like, I would teach her how to, like, write, you know, like
- 25:22the letters properly in the numbers.
- 25:25So every day I would teach her how to write a new number, like
- 25:277 or 8 or 9. And then every day I would teach
- 25:30her to like write a new letter. So I specifically remember
- 25:34telling her how to write the letter K properly.
- 25:37I think for a four year old, it might be, I don't know what age
- 25:42people are supposed to learn how to write the alphabet.
- 25:44But I think maybe when you're 4, that's like maybe a little bit
- 25:49too early. Maybe you didn't like, do you do
- 25:52this in, like, kindergarten, like first grade?
- 25:54What's that? That's when you're like five or
- 25:55six or something like that. Yeah.
- 25:57But she was having a lot of trouble writing the letters.
- 25:59And I was thinking like, I don't think she's, I think she's too
- 26:02early to do this. But anyways, she's a very good
- 26:05liar. I will say that my nephew is not
- 26:11a very good liar, so that could become a problem later in life.
- 26:16But I see that my niece will be very good aligned to boys when
- 26:20she gets older. Like because she already is able
- 26:23to like lie to my mom's face and lie to my face.
- 26:26Just like, straight off, look me in the eye will tell me a lie.
- 26:30Because sometimes I asked her, like, I think couple times I
- 26:32asked her like, oh, like do you brush your teeth in the morning?
- 26:35And then she would be like, yes. And then, like, I can kind of
- 26:38tell she's lying. And I'm So I also asked like, do
- 26:40you really brush your teeth? Do you brush your teeth this
- 26:42morning? And then she would then say, oh,
- 26:45grandma did it, help me brush my teeth.
- 26:47So I didn't do it this morning, things like that.
- 26:49But she's very cute. Again, I love that.
- 26:52I love that my sister has the two kids so that it keeps my mom
- 26:55busy. But she loves kids.
- 26:59Yeah. So anyways, yeah, otherwise, you
- 27:02know, just spend a lot of time with family in Vancouver.
- 27:05One thing I do like to do when I visit Canada is I like to go to
- 27:10A. And WA&W is a fast food chain
- 27:13that's a Canadian fast food chain.
- 27:15They're most well known for root beer.
- 27:19So there's like A and W root beer.
- 27:21I think A and W have some branches in the US, maybe in
- 27:25like the East Coast or something like that.
- 27:29But they're like it's like a Canadian thing.
- 27:31But The thing is that their burgers are named after like
- 27:34family members. So they have like a teen burger
- 27:36and a Mama burger and like a popup burger and like all that
- 27:39kind of stuff. So the teen burger is like their
- 27:41standard thing is kind of like the equivalent of like a
- 27:44McDonald's Quarter Pounder or something.
- 27:47But it tastes better. There's like bacon and lettuce
- 27:50and tomatoes and those like a Patty, so pretty standard.
- 27:52But I, Scott, they've got a unique sauce I guess and like
- 27:55kind of unique buns that they use.
- 27:57So like, when you taste it, it's like, oh, it tastes like an A
- 27:59and W burger because of like the the buns and the sauce.
- 28:03But it's kind of like something I I will like have because it's
- 28:07something I think you can only get in Canada.
- 28:09People talk about Tim horton's in Canada or like Timmy Hoes,
- 28:12which is like like Donuts and coffee and like quick.
- 28:19They do sandwiches as well, but they'll do like Donuts and kind
- 28:22of sort of pastries and do coffee.
- 28:24So that's a very Canadian thing. Timmy Hoes remember on my
- 28:28college campus, I went to UBC, University of British Columbia
- 28:32and they have a Tim horton's on the campus.
- 28:35It's like very, very popular. So Tim horton's, I think it's
- 28:39what most people think of as like a very Canadian fast food
- 28:44chain. And it is, it's like the most
- 28:47well known. But this.
- 28:47I'm not a big drip coffee person and I'm not like a donut person.
- 28:55So going to like, it's not a thing for me to go to Tim
- 28:57horton's, but it is a thing for me to go to like A and W because
- 29:00I really like the burgers. So this time when I'm into
- 29:05Vancouver, I made it a thing to like stop by A and W Once it was
- 29:09like like a random afternoon and I was like okay, I'm hungry.
- 29:12So I was running some chores, doing some shopping for mom.
- 29:16So I went to this. A and W that I've never been to
- 29:19before is in this like random shopping center where I was like
- 29:22picking some things up for mom and it was in the food court of
- 29:27this shopping center and I got up there and food court.
- 29:32It was not a very busy shopping center.
- 29:33Was like, it was like 4:00 PM on a Wednesday.
- 29:37It was not a busy time for that mall.
- 29:39It was not a very busy mall anyways, and it wasn't a very
- 29:42busy food court, but I walked up there.
- 29:45It's clearly A and W that doesn't get a lot of traffic.
- 29:48It's very small A and W Anyways, I walked up there and there was
- 29:52like just two people in the counter behind the counter.
- 29:54They were just like chit chatting, whatever.
- 29:55So I go up and I ordered a tea burger without cheese cuz I'm
- 30:00off dairy right now. Thin burger without cheese, make
- 30:03it a meal. And I ordered a Diet Coke and I
- 30:05ordered fries. You can also get onion rings
- 30:07there, which is pretty good. But I just want our fries.
- 30:10So the and then the guy behind the counter says, oh, do you
- 30:14just want fries or do you want like, onion rings?
- 30:16We can make onion rings. So he's kind of trying to, like,
- 30:18upsell. Usually when I go to any fast
- 30:21food chain at McDonald's or whatever, they never try to
- 30:26upsell. Like every time you go to
- 30:27McDonald's, they're not trying to say like, oh, you ordered 1/4
- 30:31pounder. Do you want to make it a Double
- 30:33Quarter Pounder? Do you want to make it a Deluxe
- 30:35Quarter Pounder? They just take your order and be
- 30:37like, OK, 795. Like, you know, they never try
- 30:41to like recommend items or like make you unless they're out of
- 30:44something like, oh, we're out of chicken Nuggets, what else do
- 30:46you want instead? But they never try to upsell
- 30:49you. But like, this guy was like
- 30:50upselling me. So it's like to the onion rings,
- 30:52which are more expensive. But I just said I just wanted
- 30:55regular fries. And then when he asked again,
- 31:00oh, what drink do you want said I want to die cook.
- 31:03And then he goes like, fill the Diet Coke and he's like, oh, the
- 31:06Diet Coke is like, not good for you.
- 31:08It's not very healthy. And I was like, I did not expect
- 31:13the guy to be giving me commentary and judging me for
- 31:19the Diet Coke not being very healthy when I'm ordering like
- 31:25fast food like a. And Debbie is literally just
- 31:28like the Quint of Madonna is just like like super fast food.
- 31:33It's not healthy. Like, no one calls McDonald's
- 31:35healthy. So it's weird that first of all,
- 31:39you're telling me that the Diet Coke is unhealthy.
- 31:41But on top of that, you're telling me it's unhealthy when
- 31:44I've ordered a whole, like, burger and fries meal from you.
- 31:47And after you're trying to upsell me from the fries to the
- 31:50onion rings, which I assume is probably even less healthy than
- 31:54the regular fries and got like a little back and forth and as he
- 31:58said, like, oh, the diet coat isn't very good for you, blah,
- 32:01blah blah blah, blah. And then I said like, oh, it's
- 32:03OK, I don't, I don't drink it all the time.
- 32:06And then he's, he says something to like, continues argument.
- 32:09And then by the time in my head, I was like, in slight disbelief
- 32:13that he was like telling me and like maybe streaming me to like
- 32:17I get a different drink or something because it's unhealthy
- 32:21or not good for me, whatever that I was.
- 32:23Like I didn't even process what he said.
- 32:26But but all I said was like, the Diet Coke is fine to just be
- 32:30like, just give me the effin Diet Coke and he's like, OK,
- 32:33I'll give you the Diet Coke. But it was such a weird exchange
- 32:37of like, ordering fast food. It's like like I'm, I'm ordering
- 32:42something very standard like the the the teen burger, which is
- 32:45like when you guys always sell a Diet Coke whichever place has
- 32:48and just fries. It wasn't like anything
- 32:50complicated. But yeah, that was like, that
- 32:53was the most. I've never been.
- 32:57I've never had anyone try to upsell me on a fast food order
- 33:03and also tell me that unhealthy at the same time and also be I
- 33:08guess at the same time judge for eating there when he's the
- 33:11person that's like selling me the food.
- 33:14So it was like a really weird interaction and like, what's the
- 33:18left? I instantly went on to social
- 33:20media and like just say like, well not this guy judging me for
- 33:24my junk food order and telling me that Diet Coke isn't healthy
- 33:27for me, which is like such a it was just just like a weird
- 33:31interaction. So I was like, OK, I've got to
- 33:33mention that on the podcast for sure it was good podcast
- 33:37material. All right, that will take us to
- 33:40the end of the podcast for this week.
- 33:43Again, make sure you subscribe and remember that there is a
- 33:46video version of this podcast on my YouTube channel.
- 33:48Just Joey T as on Spotify. And until next time, bye.
