Chapter 3, Part 1: A New Frontier - The Media Desk, Citizen Science, and the Weird West
Hosts Evan and Tanya wrap up Summer Library Club and talk with KCPL technology librarian Kelsey Johnson about the Idea Lab makerspace, vocal recording booths, and a new multimedia desk for audio and video editing.
Kelsey outlines expanded digitization services (VHS, cassette, negatives/35mm, and photo scanning) and announces citizen science kits for observing pollinators and biodiversity that connect patrons to real research through apps like iNaturalist.
The episode wraps up with a discussion of the Weird West, a genre that blends the American frontier with science fiction and fantasy.
