- 0:47Thank you. Now here are the hosts of the
- 0:50United We Scan podcast. Welcome back everybody.
- 0:54What are we at episode 85? We've got some news, some
- 0:59updates and more of who knows what.
- 1:03So we'll start it off. And how was your week?
- 1:08Toasty. My week was pretty good.
- 1:11Monday was a solid day, solid regular Monday.
- 1:14Tuesday we had ADVO so it went off not too bad.
- 1:20And then Wednesday I finally got my edit book back after RO had
- 1:23been implemented or the rule route optimization.
- 1:27And so I turned around quickly try to re edit it for my line of
- 1:33travel because it ungrouped my CD us because of the ones that
- 1:36were vacant it didn't recognize as in the program.
- 1:40I guess it only takes the ones that are occupied.
- 1:43So I had to rearrange my entire line of travel again in the
- 1:46correct order and submit that back in on Wednesday.
- 1:50So hopefully I get it back here pretty soon so I can change my
- 1:52stickers because our new DPS is coming in the quote UN quote
- 1:58correct way. Now.
- 2:00Other than that, I had Thursday and Friday off, Kids started
- 2:03school on Wednesday and my wife actually left Wednesday to
- 2:07Vincon, which is the Zumba instructor conference in Florida
- 2:11and she's going to be flying back tonight.
- 2:12Her flight got delayed so easily.
- 2:15Make the podcast and then go pick her up from the airport.
- 2:19How about you James? How was your week?
- 2:22It was about normal overall for everything.
- 2:26I am setting up my route right now for the Subs and I had sent
- 2:32my edit book in and asked for new labels because I had changed
- 2:36all the names on my labels, added the ones that are missing,
- 2:39stuff like that. And AMS came back and said you
- 2:43just got new labels because you changed an address.
- 2:45Why do you need new labels again?
- 2:48And so that kind of got screwed up.
- 2:50So new labels will have to come next month and whoever hopefully
- 2:55can get that fixed for them. And then I'm going through and
- 3:01making sure all my mailboxes are marked.
- 3:02I'm actually putting an arrow inside at my corner boxes so
- 3:06carriers know where they need to go when they get there.
- 3:09You know, like a right turn here or do AU turn, stuff like that.
- 3:14Just simple arrows using that and the address numbers inside
- 3:18the box so that when they have that open, they can verify the
- 3:21address. But other than that, had the air
- 3:26show at Pontiac today. So I spent all day out there
- 3:30with the air show and had right up on the freight flight line
- 3:34watching the stunt planes and planes coming in and going from
- 3:38Pontiac. And it was very busy today.
- 3:41Lots, lots of planes today. They did have a Ford Tri motor
- 3:46there, a 1928 Ford Tri motor was was actually giving rides for
- 3:52people. So that was pretty awesome to
- 3:54see. It was right in front of us.
- 3:56So it kept coming in and leaving right in front of us and but
- 4:02then came back home here to do the podcast.
- 4:06So All in all, a pretty good week.
- 4:08The one thing I do have to note, everybody check your vacants and
- 4:16actives on the mapping. The system is marking them
- 4:23vacant automatically. When you get a PARS label for
- 4:30the address, whether it's an individual or a family, it is
- 4:33marking it vacant on the computer, which is against the
- 4:37contract because we don't mark them vacant for 90 days.
- 4:42So keep track of that. I'm working with, I contacted my
- 4:46ADR, my ADR contacted the Dr. The Dr. is contacting the NRO
- 4:51and hopefully the NRO will contact the director of Stewart
- 4:55Operations. The director of Stewart
- 4:57Operations will contact the director of Labor relations and
- 4:59they'll file a Step 4 on this because marking them vacant will
- 5:05affect your evaluation. So keep an eye on that.
- 5:11But anyway, how was your week, Bill?
- 5:13Oh my God, after two months off I'm back to work.
- 5:17I'm up at the SDC in Wayne, PA in my first A2 miles of walking.
- 5:28A Rook at 5.1212 miles walking. That's just in the building
- 5:35folks. That wasn't, you know, on the
- 5:37rock that was in the building to the parking lot, you know, to my
- 5:42truck twice back from the back to that area.
- 5:48Thankfully, Tuesday I remembered where everything was and I cut
- 5:51it down to 3 1/2 miles. So now I'm only doing 3 1/2
- 5:54miles a day in my post office. That is just incredible.
- 6:01I and here it is folks. The SD and CS don't work as of
- 6:08Saturday. All routes in my for my office,
- 6:11the Westchester office were adjusted to account for the new
- 6:16footage and the extra mileage. Driving everywhere is now AK
- 6:21route. Do not have AK route underneath
- 6:2443. Five J routes jumped up 1K route
- 6:30jumped from a four. That's how bad this
- 6:36miscalculation is on the joy's part in regards to saving money.
- 6:41The Phoenixville office, which is a a local post office that's
- 6:46permanently assigned to the state, they're half the three
- 6:50hours extra on each route. So I'm trying to wrap my head
- 6:54around the numbers and say you're you're saving money.
- 6:58How? Because you're still post
- 7:01offices. The windows are there, boxes are
- 7:03there and save me and on top this district manager has.
- 7:11If people have got mail for customers that they will pick up
- 7:16themselves, it has to be sent to the local post office.
- 7:22IBM beer or CA take the whole mail and any parcels and any
- 7:29cannibals back up to the original post office so that the
- 7:33customers can get them there instead of traveling down the
- 7:35wane. Because we don't have a retail
- 7:38window per SE in the SD and C. So I, I fail to see how we're
- 7:45saving any money whatsoever. Mr. Dejoy, or should I say
- 7:48Lewis, I'll tell you what, after being off for two months, the,
- 7:54the calves and the thighs, guess what?
- 7:57They, they, they were sore at the end of the week.
- 7:59I can feel all 214 jumps out of an airplane at the end of the
- 8:04week because I was sore. But we we actually had a
- 8:10situation on Wednesday when our postmaster stood up and gave a
- 8:15service talk to the city carriers and explained to them
- 8:20at the local people inside this SD and C don't like us, don't
- 8:25want us there, think we're too loud, we make too much noise.
- 8:30I mean, you know, everything under the sun.
- 8:32And she was basically crying by the end of her speech how much
- 8:35they hate having Westchester in their facility.
- 8:39And I'm sitting there going, aren't we all mail carriers?
- 8:42I mean, folks, what, what the Hell's going on here?
- 8:46But apparently they're territorial and they don't like
- 8:50us and we don't care. Mail volume was moderate to to
- 8:56heavy. Monday, my first day back
- 8:59getting oriented everything I finished at 9:11 PM.
- 9:05Tuesday I got back by 7 and the next three days I was back right
- 9:10before 6, but adding the extra couple hours onto my route for
- 9:14the for the week. It's let me tell you, it's a
- 9:19wear and tear in your body that you know you don't expect,
- 9:21especially traveling down a highway in an LLV and trying to
- 9:25do 60 miles an hour so you don't get run over.
- 9:29And let's say, Oh yes, does everybody know that Ron, Ron
- 9:33Speakman from Fed Up has put up the podcast with his interview
- 9:37with me. Oh my God, what gracious host.
- 9:41What a great individual. I mean, his summary was just
- 9:45magical. It, it was so good that I'm
- 9:48going to vote for myself this year.
- 9:50Honestly, I'm going to, it's the first time I'm going to vote for
- 9:53myself. But I believe in myself now
- 9:55because he made me believe in me.
- 9:58And I want to thank him from the bottom of my heart for all his
- 10:01work, his effort, his guidance and counseling.
- 10:05Then you know, I, I, I can see us getting a national position
- 10:08for him. How about you there, Kristen?
- 10:11How was your week? Well, I ended up working all
- 10:15week with the exception of Monday for those.
- 10:19I'll do the baby update real quick.
- 10:23Sunday contractions died off after she calmed down.
- 10:26I think she just kind of overdid it at work.
- 10:29So Monday we go into the doctor and doctor was so thrilled that
- 10:34he's jumped up above that 10%, cut off up to the 12th percent,
- 10:39and we are going in on Monday, August 19th to have this baby
- 10:46boy. Oh yeah, that's the baby update.
- 10:52We have another full week and then I'll get to be there and
- 10:56get her home just in time to leave for Reno.
- 11:00So yes, if you're around me at Reno during break time,
- 11:04lunchtime, feel free to check in because I will definitely be
- 11:07video calling her to see that grandbaby.
- 11:11So there's the baby update. I know everybody that has
- 11:15reached out to me with questions this week.
- 11:17That was usually like the first question was how's your daughter
- 11:19doing? And then they went on to what
- 11:22they wanted to ask me. So there's the update for
- 11:24everybody right now. We have one more week.
- 11:28So there we go. August 19th was actually I'm
- 11:32kind of, it's kind of cool if you think about it, as long as
- 11:36he's born by 11:59 PM on the 19th.
- 11:39This is a little scenario I thought was kind of cool and it
- 11:43kind of runs between myself and my first born son.
- 11:46And, and my birthday as most you know is March 16th.
- 11:51My son's birthday is August 16th, which is this coming up
- 11:56Friday. So shout out to my son over in
- 11:58Okinawa. And Ruby's birthday is October
- 12:0319th and little man may be making his appearance on August
- 12:0719th. That's kind of cool.
- 12:10But other than that, I went back to work Tuesday.
- 12:14I guess Amazon made a late appearance.
- 12:16Monday was super heavy and so they held over 3USPS APCS apart
- 12:24packages so they could get all of Amazon out.
- 12:27So Tuesday I ended up with like 161 scans on a Tuesday.
- 12:32For package wise it was the Monday is Tuesday outside of a
- 12:35day after a holiday. Mail was light.
- 12:38Rest of the week was pretty average.
- 12:41Amazon again on Thursday decided they didn't want to show up till
- 12:46almost 930 as everybody was leaving.
- 12:49Luckily it was light. When I come in Friday and I come
- 12:52back Thursday afternoon I only had like a dozen packages.
- 12:54I'm like that's not even worth a second trip.
- 12:56So I just took it out on a Friday and then I graciously
- 13:01volunteered to work my K day yesterday so one of my Co
- 13:05workers who hasn't seen AK day in a couple months can have his
- 13:08weekend. And that's what I did.
- 13:11The supervisor didn't want to hear about it at all when I
- 13:14approached her Wednesday on it and her day off is normally
- 13:17Thursday. So when she was back Friday and
- 13:19the postmaster was there as well, I went to the postmaster
- 13:22and she was more than happy to make that work out even though
- 13:26the supervisor wasn't happy about it.
- 13:28But yes, so I will. Yep.
- 13:33And then I'm working Monday through Saturday.
- 13:35I got a six day week this week. So and then I'll be off for 2
- 13:381/2 weeks between baby arriving and National Convention.
- 13:44Six more days and it's a step away from the from the route for
- 13:48a couple of weeks. And I will say to add on to what
- 13:52Bill said, I yeah, so Ron is definitely a gracious and it's
- 13:57awesome that he's giving us the airtime.
- 14:00I did my interview with him this morning.
- 14:02We're looking forward to having that released on Saturday the
- 14:0617th. So I look forward to that.
- 14:11And thank you Ron for doing that.
- 14:13That was a good time. And outside of that, that was
- 14:16pretty much my week. Nothing too exciting.
- 14:21And Yep, no baby yet. Got another week.
- 14:24So. Oh yeah.
- 14:25In a quick correction, this is episode 86, not 85.
- 14:28Other than that, James, what else you got on the agenda for
- 14:31tonight? All.
- 14:33Right. So the first thing we have, I
- 14:36wanted to discuss that the NALC, our brothers and sisters in the
- 14:43city craft, had their convention this past week.
- 14:47Now a lot of chatter has been going on with the issues with
- 14:53their president and the fact that he got away with lying to
- 14:58his own craft and other things. But this was a win for the Craft
- 15:07in one very important way. The Craft was told by their
- 15:13president that the appeals to the decisions against the
- 15:18president's charges could not be heard at their National
- 15:22Convention. And 2/3 of their National
- 15:26Convention stood up and said no. The people of the Craft are the
- 15:33supreme body to make these decisions.
- 15:37Whatever happened after that doesn't matter because the
- 15:41people were speaking. Now, whether you agree or
- 15:45disagree with how the people spoke on it, it doesn't matter
- 15:49because the people made the choice, which is what was
- 15:53supposed to happen. So I wanted to put it out there
- 15:57that there was a major victory for the people.
- 16:02Now they look forward to their twenty 26th National Convention
- 16:06as well as their elections, which are the entire craft
- 16:10versus just a delegation like we have.
- 16:13So if the craft themselves want to speak, they can with their
- 16:18vote when it comes to their twenty 26th convention.
- 16:21So I just wanted to put it out there that it is possible for
- 16:25the people to stand up against the regime that thinks they are
- 16:32untouchable and tell them that no, the body still speaks for
- 16:37the craft. You.
- 16:40What do you guys think? Oh I agree, I was following
- 16:45along. We're good.
- 16:45I couldn't follow along as much as some people did, but I was
- 16:51definitely listening to the updates and whatnot and the
- 16:54daily 8 arbitrations that came on.
- 16:57And you know, I, I, I'm proud of our city carrier brothers and
- 17:01sisters for, for, for what they were able to accomplish this
- 17:06week. Definitely is may have not been
- 17:11the best outcome, but let me tell you as standing up and
- 17:14uniting and everything that they were able to accomplish, I
- 17:19definitely applaud them 100%. So shout out to Corey from for
- 17:24made arbitration If you all looked in that discord while
- 17:28everything was going on. That thing was.
- 17:31Packed. You just try to scroll through
- 17:34how many people were listening in just to what was going on.
- 17:37And it was, you were scrolling for a good minute just trying to
- 17:41get through it all. Of course, everyone was on mute
- 17:44and you know, they were just listening in.
- 17:47But that's engaging the craft, that's bringing the members in,
- 17:51the ones that couldn't make it, the ones that couldn't get the
- 17:54time off, the ones that want to be engaged, want to be informed,
- 17:58you know, being able to at least hear what's going on, see what's
- 18:02being proposed through that sort of communication rather than
- 18:07having to wait until the recap or the next magazine.
- 18:10There is that open communication brought on by Corey and from
- 18:13able to arbitration. So that way people could get
- 18:18that information now instead of waiting for it, you know, that's
- 18:22a, that's a beautiful thing. Just had to have, I mean, sure,
- 18:25the, the, the votes were disappointing.
- 18:27You know they, they wanted, you know, a bit of a change, but you
- 18:30know, they, they sent a very loud and clear message 100%.
- 18:35And I just want to put it out there for the folks that listen
- 18:38to us and, and that listened to aid arbitration and was
- 18:42following along and listening in to their proceedings and
- 18:46whatnot. I'm just going to put it out
- 18:47there that we cannot do that. We will not be doing that in a,
- 18:53you know, as much as it would be awesome if we could.
- 18:57That is something that we will definitely not be crossing that
- 19:00line at our convention. As we all know, if anybody is
- 19:04caught from our convention doing that, then they are removed from
- 19:08the convention floor and we will not be doing that so.
- 19:12And I will also with that, I'll throw this out there with that,
- 19:15Kristen. And with that, because that is a
- 19:19violation of our standing policies, it is a possibility
- 19:24that they could actually take action and make the member
- 19:29become a member not in good standing.
- 19:32Meaning you won't be able to vote, you won't be able to
- 19:35participate in voting on things and things like that.
- 19:39So you'll be basically like a non dues paying member even
- 19:43though you're still paying dues. Correct.
- 19:45So because that isn't. Otherwise.
- 19:48Go ahead, Bill. So otherwise they're going to
- 19:51treat you like Dominic Crooks, right?
- 19:55And James, you're right. It it it was win for the the
- 19:58body of the NALC because of the fact they stood up and said no.
- 20:03We, we have a voice here. We are the voice and we are
- 20:06going to be heard. Even though they didn't get to
- 20:10basically resolve the issues in the in the manner that we would
- 20:15have liked to see them because that would have been a great
- 20:17impetus for our craft. It's still proved that the body
- 20:22has more power than the board in regards to saying how the
- 20:26proceedings go along and that that that was a great win for
- 20:30the city carriers. Congratulations to them.
- 20:36I agree completely. The next NEWS UPDATE that I have
- 20:41is the Postal Pulse survey coming out.
- 20:44So according to this is the statement from the NRLCA.
- 20:50According to USPS correspondence received by the NRLCA, the
- 20:54Postal Service will administer the Postal Pulse Survey August
- 20:576th through September 13th, 2024.
- 21:01The NRLCA remains committed to the vision of a better,
- 21:04healthier workplace where supervisors and employees have a
- 21:07constructive dialogue with each other, where differences are
- 21:10recognized and diversity is valued, where we are able to
- 21:14work together and unlock the great potential of our
- 21:16workforce. The NRLCA reaffirms its
- 21:19commitment to workplaces where every employee at every level of
- 21:22the Postal Service is treated at all times with dignity, respect
- 21:25and fairness. Now, those were two different
- 21:28statements. One was MOU 14, the other was
- 21:31the Joint Statement on Violence Behavior in the Workplace.
- 21:34Paraphrased. But let me just read what the
- 21:38APWU has said about the Postal Pulse Survey before we get
- 21:44discussing it. The APWU is urging union members
- 21:48to refrain from participating in the USPSS Management's Postal
- 21:53Pulse survey. Negotiations for a new union
- 21:56contract began on June 25th and any information you give them
- 22:00can be used in retaliation to hurt us during negotiations and
- 22:04arbitration. Regardless of pressure from
- 22:06supervisors or managers, letter correspondents, excessive
- 22:10emails, or other tactics. Employees are not required to
- 22:13participate in this survey. APWU urges you to not
- 22:17participate in the Postal Pulse. Please be aware of these new
- 22:21changes to the survey. A new company is conducting the
- 22:24survey for Septics instead of Gallup.
- 22:27There is now a 5 point scale. Questions have been added and
- 22:31others refreshed. There will be no more paper
- 22:34surveys sent to employees homes. Instead the paper servers are
- 22:38being sent to work locations as well as electronically.
- 22:41Stay united and don't be fooled by management's tricks created
- 22:45to divide us. We want to remind members to
- 22:47wear a PWU gear with pride every Thursday until our current
- 22:51contract expires to send a powerful message to management
- 22:54that we are union proud. Say it loud.
- 22:57The APWU Negotiations team is working diligently to secure a
- 23:00good union contract for postal workers.
- 23:02Stand strong. Don't let management take your
- 23:05pulse. Kind of a black and white
- 23:08difference there between the two statements of unions on the
- 23:12Postal Pulse Survey. Now, I will put this out there.
- 23:15I've been talking with a manager who was pushing the Postal Pulse
- 23:19survey in a royal carrier associate group, and this
- 23:23manager tried to say that it's been 30 years since management
- 23:27used the Postal Pulse Survey against carriers.
- 23:30But yeah, just last year, the Gallup poll, which is who they
- 23:33just replaced, had our EIN numbers on there.
- 23:36So don't be mistaken by this. There's going to be something on
- 23:40that Postal Pulse survey that tracks it back to you.
- 23:43They want to know because they've abused carriers over it
- 23:46too. Now I open it up to you guys.
- 23:49What do you guys think? Which is better, our unions or
- 23:52the APWS response to the Postal Pulse?
- 23:55I'm not a fan of the Postal Pulse, so I'll just tell you
- 23:57that. I like the APW U's response to
- 24:03it. Oh yes.
- 24:07Well that and I have also heard over the years that management
- 24:11get to kick back for every one of those that gets returned out
- 24:15of their offices. Whether or not that's true or
- 24:19not, I don't know, but I've heard that in the past.
- 24:26Yeah, and that is true. Somebody just said this in the
- 24:29chat. And because if you have a postal
- 24:32e-mail, they send it to your e-mail with a link, what's to
- 24:36say that link doesn't have something to track it back to
- 24:38you? Or doing it on Blue and doing
- 24:42the postal post survey on there. Guess what?
- 24:43You've logged into Blue that's tracking you.
- 24:47Apparently you can do it on light blue, and that of course
- 24:49is tracking you as well. So that is carrier discretion
- 24:57whether you wish to do the post to post survey or not.
- 25:00But I'm not going to do it on the basis that number one, you
- 25:04can't actually tell them what's going on.
- 25:07You have to use the one through 5 system.
- 25:10That's it. There's no comment section
- 25:12anymore anyway. Yeah, I've never.
- 25:19Been Is nobody going to ask why Bill so quiet?
- 25:24Why is Bill so quiet? I fill out the postal survey all
- 25:30the time and I put down my sincere comments that this is a
- 25:35waste of time, is a waste of money.
- 25:38You don't listen to us and management abuses us.
- 25:41You haven't done anything in 10 to 15 years.
- 25:44And I put my name on it because I'm Bill May and I'm not afraid
- 25:48of anybody. And yes, the APW is doing does
- 25:55the right thing for by their membership in regards to this,
- 25:58because of the fact that just like the ballots, the mail in
- 26:01ballots, I haven't seen any, you know, returned yet this year.
- 26:05But in the past you, you could track who was Republican,
- 26:08Democrat by the coding on the back.
- 26:11Same thing with these damn things.
- 26:12I guarantee you, you, you can send it in there with no address
- 26:16or anything on there. And that barcode is, is a, you
- 26:19know, exactly matched up with your address, your EIN and
- 26:23everything else. So no, don't fill it out.
- 26:27Don't give them the satisfaction.
- 26:28And you know, if anything, you know, throw it in the trash.
- 26:31Don't even send it back. I will do as I have in the past
- 26:35and put my comments on there and send it back because like I
- 26:38said, I, I don't fear anybody. And you know, somebody be
- 26:42sitting there getting a good laugh going all this guy's a
- 26:44real asshole or he's really pissed off or whatever.
- 26:47You know what, He might be an angry bill.
- 26:50But the thing of it is, is that it's a waste of time.
- 26:52You do not take any of our input part.
- 26:56You don't take our input in regards to our line of travel.
- 26:59You don't take any of our input in regards to benchmarking for
- 27:03unscanned parcels. Oh, you know, you can't have
- 27:06more than six. Why?
- 27:08Why can you not have more than six?
- 27:10Yeah, well, they benchmarked that number.
- 27:15Do what you want. Told you what I do, but I
- 27:18believe the APW has sent a strong message to their
- 27:21membership and I'm 100% behind them.
- 27:27Very completely with I always. Like to pause after I'm done
- 27:30talking, huh? But.
- 27:33I'm making. I'm making sure we're ready to
- 27:35move on to the next topic. So now we have we have a
- 27:41National Convention update to talk about.
- 27:45And that update is we now have another position that has
- 27:51opposition and that opposition is to the Director of Labor
- 27:57Relations position. Now you have Bridget Boziak, who
- 28:02is the incumbent, and you have John Adams running against
- 28:08Bridget. Now I'm going to speak for
- 28:11myself here. As a Michigander, I support John
- 28:14Adams because everybody I've talked to that has dealt with
- 28:19this gentleman has never said a bad thing about him.
- 28:23Now somebody has something bad to say about him.
- 28:25Send me a message, let me know what's going on.
- 28:28But I've heard he's a fighter. He has gone to bat for people.
- 28:33He has defended people. And when he was a in office as
- 28:37well as as a steward. So he and he really cares.
- 28:42And in fact, he's one of the guys that I send people to to
- 28:47get information. If I don't know who their NRO
- 28:51is, he's the first person I send them to because he knows his
- 28:55stuff. And that's who I'm I'm pulling
- 28:59for in this election. How about you guys?
- 29:03Oh, I can speak for the fact that he he's my NRO and I've run
- 29:08into him at several of our state functions and I, I basically
- 29:14have encouraged him to look at at a higher position, which
- 29:18thankfully he's now running for. This gentleman got involved with
- 29:23our office particularly because of our fire and us being
- 29:27relocated to the SD and C 12 miles away from our Home Office.
- 29:33Now mind you that I made a phone call on the Friday morning after
- 29:37the fire to my Dr. My DDR got back to me eight days later.
- 29:46John Adams was contacted on a Saturday, responded and then
- 29:53made a return call on Sunday to the carrier who called them wait
- 30:00until Tuesday to get a call from our full time ADR.
- 30:04That's the type of individual he is very proactive and he does
- 30:08not wait and he is not satisfied with the response time that
- 30:12we're getting from the people who are full time
- 30:14representatives of the union. And I believe in him 100%.
- 30:20He's got the, the personality, the charm, he he has, you know,
- 30:25the presence, you know, to be a good national leader and I
- 30:29support him 100%. Absolutely.
- 30:32When I had the chance to meet him in Orlando and when we
- 30:35talked to him a little bit in Grand Rapids last year, I have
- 30:39absolutely nothing but positive to say about him and anytime
- 30:45that I have talked to him, I have thoroughly enjoyed having
- 30:49his company. He is definitely for the craft
- 30:54and yes, I I do support John Adams 100%.
- 30:58I unfortunately have never been able to meet John Adams yet.
- 31:02Looking forward to seeing him at National Convention.
- 31:06But I will say that being at mid states with Y'all and hearing
- 31:13the responses from questions from the floor to the current
- 31:17Director of Labor Relations, Bridge of Boziak, I would I was
- 31:24a little frustrated when people were asking, can we get
- 31:26something in writing on unscanned parcel, please?
- 31:29She said, well, a parcel is a parcel.
- 31:32OK, well, you want something in writing to take back to our
- 31:34managers so that way you can say please leave us alone.
- 31:37Here is the wording, you know, let me do my job.
- 31:40I know how to do it. So if from what y'all are saying
- 31:45then he's got my vote. Just a little bit of a
- 31:49disclaimer here on this. John Adams did not ask for us to
- 31:53do this. He never contacted us to do
- 31:57anything like this. And he is.
- 32:00But this is the type of person that we believe he is.
- 32:04So it's important to know that he is running to all the
- 32:10candidate, all the delegates that are going to National
- 32:13Convention. So just wanted to make everybody
- 32:18aware of the fact that he is running now.
- 32:21We have gotten confirmation, we have seen his letter that he has
- 32:24sent to state officers and NSS people.
- 32:29And you can actually view that on our Discord channel.
- 32:32We'll put it in, we'll have somebody put it in the topics
- 32:35section for people to see if it's not there already.
- 32:38So that way you can actually see that we'll also put any
- 32:41candidates letters in there that we have found out and gotten
- 32:46copies of. So that way you guys can view
- 32:48them as well. Anybody else got anything to say
- 32:52on that? I don't.
- 32:54Think it's been covered pretty good there.
- 32:57Not that we're supporting any anybody, James, but we're going
- 32:59to give them equal time in regards to posting their
- 33:03letters, yes, So people can make up their make up their own
- 33:06minds. You know, we want to be fair and
- 33:09even feel about this. Like we say.
- 33:12Everybody has a voice. This our views and our views
- 33:15alone, does not represent the views, opinions, or strategies
- 33:18of the United States Postal Service or the National World
- 33:20Air Carriers Association. Everybody should do their own
- 33:23research to ensure the accuracy of what is being said on this
- 33:27podcast. And I take, I take offense to
- 33:31that, James, about their strategies because you're
- 33:34assuming they have strategies and that's very presumptuous of
- 33:38you. They do they.
- 33:42Do have a strategy? They do have a strategy.
- 33:44It's to take as much as they can.
- 33:51Well, I mean, we can infer their strategies from what they say in
- 33:54their letters and their statements and what they say on
- 33:56the stage. Even if the stage stuff is not
- 33:59recorded, there is somebody still paying attention to what
- 34:02they're saying. So we can take it from that to
- 34:04know what their strategies are. Actions no are the words.
- 34:10Yes, like they say, management will climb a tree, tell a lie
- 34:15and stand on the ground and tell the truth.
- 34:17And when you act like managements that that statement
- 34:20applies to you too. All right, the next thing I have
- 34:26is it's it's mini male survey time again.
- 34:33We did an episode on the mini male survey last year, I believe
- 34:38it was last year, and we talked about all the things that are
- 34:41needed for the mini mail survey. Nothing has changed from the
- 34:45items that need to be recorded for the mini mail survey.
- 34:50It begins on the 23rd and it will include the holiday,
- 34:57unfortunately. So you're getting technically 11
- 35:00days of it, but you get the day after a holiday volume, so
- 35:05there's that portion as well. So if they do decide that on
- 35:09Saturday they'll run DPS and then on Sunday or month on
- 35:14Sunday they'll run DPS and then on Monday they run DPS at the
- 35:17plant and you get 2 trays of DPS.
- 35:21Guess what The smaller tray is raw mail for the mini mail
- 35:25survey. So don't forget that routes must
- 35:31be mapped and done by September 6th.
- 35:37They will lock them out on September 6th.
- 35:42So don't forget that they will be doing that.
- 35:45And then Friday September 13th they will lock out the mini mail
- 35:51surveys after September 13th. So everything has to be input on
- 35:57September 13th or it won't go in.
- 36:00And then September 28th should be the 4241 A&M printed and
- 36:08distributed and the effective date will be October 5th.
- 36:13So we wanted to put that out there.
- 36:14Those are the dates that we have from the union on the mini meal
- 36:19survey and when it should be done.
- 36:21Don't let managers try to say, oh, it's got to be done earlier,
- 36:24it's got to be done later. If you can do it earlier, go for
- 36:27it. But those are the days and.
- 36:30James. Yes.
- 36:33It starts Friday the 23rd and goes through Friday the 6th.
- 36:39It's not starting on Saturday. So it is 12 days.
- 36:43It is 12 work days. 12 days, yes OK 12 work days I I'm still
- 36:48thinking I have Saturdays off so I don't.
- 36:53Well, not only that, would you, but not only that, but the Union
- 36:57did post for about a week before they did the quote UN quote
- 37:00official announcement as August 24th.
- 37:03So. Yeah, that's true.
- 37:06So they confused me. No, I was confused compose
- 37:11because of the holiday and that always confuses everybody the
- 37:14holidays. But yes, so make sure management
- 37:19is doing it by these timelines and make sure it's getting done.
- 37:24And I will only be on my route the last three days of that mini
- 37:28mail survey. I'm going to leave instructions
- 37:31that I want my numbers texted to me every single day while I'm
- 37:36in, either in route or at National Convention.
- 37:45And I know that National Convention was planned out years
- 37:51in advance, but don't you think somebody, somebody that was in
- 37:55the planning of the National Convention and also working with
- 38:00national on the REC system would have known to adjust it to fit
- 38:06the days that they have the mini mail survey?
- 38:08So the regular carriers who go to National Convention would be
- 38:12able to take the time off without worrying whether Subs
- 38:15are actually getting things done right on their route for the
- 38:17mini mail survey. As much as I'm.
- 38:20I'm going to go ahead, Justin. Great.
- 38:23You know I that I'm going to. The one good thing about when my
- 38:27sub started was shortly before the spring mini mail survey, so
- 38:32he is familiar with what to do. I will be leaving instructions
- 38:37if I don't talk to him prior. Since he will be off for a few
- 38:42days, I will be leaving. I now have a notebook at my case
- 38:46for important information and I will be leaving it in there with
- 38:53a note saying please read. That way he knows he has to do
- 38:56what he did, why he was covering my route after he first started
- 39:01during the Minnie mail survey. And I do want communication on
- 39:07what my numbers are each and every day, why I'm gone.
- 39:13This is a situation where, again, communication,
- 39:16transparency, who on the national board agreed to this
- 39:23and not that the post office put that out there.
- 39:25I mean, we have started, you know, mail counts, AKA mini mail
- 39:29surveys, you know, on a Tuesday and worked it for the 12 days.
- 39:34But you've had this convention plan for years.
- 39:38Who didn't look at this and say, oh, there's a conflict?
- 39:42There's going to be 1200 people at this convention that aren't
- 39:46going to be able to verify their numbers, regardless of how well
- 39:50you put your notes there. Kristen, you know something's
- 39:52going to slip by. You know it's going to happen,
- 39:54OK? But the fact of the matter is
- 39:57you didn't have the sway to tell the post office to bump it back
- 40:02an extra week or you didn't have the balls to this.
- 40:07This is the problem with this leadership is that they didn't
- 40:10come in there and tell the post office.
- 40:13Oh, we need to push this back a week, maybe even two weeks, but
- 40:17we're not having it during our convention because you can
- 40:21absolutely guarantee how many phone calls are going to be made
- 40:25during the mini mail survey to people while they're sitting
- 40:28there in their seats and the answering text back and forth
- 40:31about this, that and the other thing.
- 40:33I guarantee you then phones will be lightened up during the
- 40:37convention. That means they won't be paying
- 40:42attention to what's going on in the convention if they're
- 40:45constantly answering questions from carriers.
- 40:51Well, what can I say? A lot of them don't anyway.
- 40:58I got a whole stack of about 10 clicker counters for the Rcas
- 41:02and for other carriers. So they want to borrow them.
- 41:04They know they're out of my case, so that way they can count
- 41:07their upside downs and then at the end of the day they can
- 41:09count their markup mail with the Fords and everything else that
- 41:13was pulled out of the DPS. But yeah, it's not going to be
- 41:18fun for that first week, especially with us having a
- 41:20couple more new RC as that just got hired on.
- 41:23So we'll see how it goes. If I do the same thing, I have
- 41:281/2 sheet that I do that I print out that has all the tracking on
- 41:32it and they can actually write everything on it and calculate
- 41:37it and all that stuff so they don't have to worry about it.
- 41:41I have two cases of Crown Royal so that at the end of the day,
- 41:44everybody can eat in the parking lot and drown their woes.
- 41:52Oh, did I say that out loud? I'm sorry.
- 41:55Those are the 1st celebration on Friday.
- 41:59Yes. Oh, yeah, Don't worry.
- 42:02We're, we're, we're going to wear Costco out there in Reno.
- 42:06And go somewhere just. Yeah, just make sure they they
- 42:09have liquor there so that we can celebrate.
- 42:14Yep, so. And those that are waiting on
- 42:18meet and greet information, things have calmed down.
- 42:22I will have that stuff out by next week's episode on where and
- 42:29when in Reno. We will have the meet and greet
- 42:32and then I'll post it in the group and on the page and
- 42:34whatnot. And and for the three of you,
- 42:38everything that we're going to get at Costco is on Bill Meg.
- 42:45I'm not kidding. We know.
- 42:49I just want you to know, I mean, you know, don't worry about
- 42:52putting money aside for anything else.
- 42:54Take care of, you know, the, the essentials that you have to.
- 42:57I'll take care of the the goodies.
- 43:00OK. I I got to get my collapsible
- 43:02wagon. Yeah.
- 43:06I do have, so far one person walking with me.
- 43:09If anybody else is interested in walking with any of us, please
- 43:12reach out, let us know. We can always work details out
- 43:15too, and we get there for those that may be interested.
- 43:20Yeah. All right, James, what else did
- 43:23you have now that we've sidetracked?
- 43:25All right. So earlier I talked about the
- 43:28computer system turning boxes vacant automatically and I
- 43:34wanted to go in a little bit more detail about that for
- 43:36people. So the biggest issue we have in
- 43:43directs program with management is the fact that they are doing
- 43:49our mapping without us. And this has actually been asked
- 43:54to be stressed by several DRS and ADRS that have contacted me.
- 44:00Carriers, you need to be doing your mapping especially right
- 44:06now because the mini mail survey coming up and if it has marked
- 44:11those boxes vacant, then you're going to lose money just like on
- 44:17the 1st mini mail survey. And we all, we had 66% of
- 44:21carriers drop. Then they turned around and did
- 44:24the the route optimization and cut carriers with that.
- 44:31Now they're going to do it with the mapping by cutting boxes out
- 44:37of your route. On my route alone, one box
- 44:41equals 3 minutes of evaluation, 1 box equals 3 minutes for me.
- 44:48So if I lose so many boxes I could go down an hour and if I'm
- 44:54not doing my mapping and this computer systems doing this, I
- 44:58could lose that hour without even knowing it.
- 45:01You have to go through your mapping because.
- 45:06Go ahead. Because if you don't, you are
- 45:10taking money out of your wallet, as Bill would say.
- 45:13And I have a postmaster that has never mapped with the carriers,
- 45:23and the carriers don't want to map with this postmaster because
- 45:29of how toxic she is. That's when they need the union
- 45:33needs to step in and bring in an outside mapping facilitator.
- 45:37Yes, Yep I agree and but I got to put it out there.
- 45:42Do your mapping because there are some managers that are now
- 45:46turning around and getting forms created for you to sign that you
- 45:51don't want to do your mapping for carriers that say, oh, just
- 45:55go through it and clear it. It's your money now.
- 46:00Go ahead, Kristen. Also on that with the boxes
- 46:04being converted to vacant when a Parge label is made, I'm going
- 46:10to say not only double check with your mapping, but if you
- 46:14get double check your edit sheets in your edit book.
- 46:17If you order new edit sheets at any time, skim through those and
- 46:22check as well. We had an instance on one of our
- 46:26routes, did a route inspection and there was three active boxes
- 46:32that was marked vacant on the paperwork that the postmaster
- 46:35had and they were never vacated. They had had forwards come out
- 46:41of them, individual forwards, not family forwards, and had
- 46:45never been vacant. In fact one of them always got a
- 46:47ton of mail. I used to do a sub on that
- 46:49route. And so double check when you're
- 46:52doing your edit books for the month always, and especially if
- 46:57you get new edit sheets, skim through that thing too, just to
- 47:00double check and verify prior to submitting it in.
- 47:04And then double check when you're doing your DPM and LTM on
- 47:07that electronic edit book there on the side, double check that
- 47:11as well. And yes, mapping is big, big,
- 47:17big, big. And if management's not mapping
- 47:21with you or you don't want to map with that manager because of
- 47:24a toxic environment, contact your Dr. immediately.
- 47:29And if it's an issue, especially with a toxic environment or them
- 47:32just not doing anything with anybody, they can pull an
- 47:36outside facilitator to come in and do the mapping with you.
- 47:40I know of facilitators that have gone around to other offices to
- 47:43help get these offices where they should be with mapping.
- 47:47So definitely contact your DRASAP on that.
- 47:51If you're not getting responses, go up to your NRO and to tack.
- 47:55On to this I'm. Not sure if James was going to
- 47:57go into it later, but with the new rule route optimization, I
- 48:03for me this is what happened to me.
- 48:04It may not be the same for everyone.
- 48:06My route is about half CBU, half curbside.
- 48:10When it did the RO, it had me do what I used to do, which is my
- 48:14rule part first and then all my subdivisions basically.
- 48:19So what I used to do, we'll say I went on Main Street, I did 300
- 48:24block, 800 block and I turn into one of the new subdivisions.
- 48:28Well, the first couple of boxes in that subdivision in that CBU
- 48:33are vacant because they're still being built out.
- 48:36The houses that are moved in are about 1224 deep in that CBU stop
- 48:44when the new RO has me do the 300 block in Main Street 800 and
- 48:47then turn left into a different subdivision.
- 48:51But on my edit book it shows the 300 block, 800 block Main
- 48:55Street, the first vacant boxes in the CT.
- 49:00Subdivision. Instead of the first open boxes
- 49:05at the we'll say Swanson neighborhood across the street
- 49:09that it has to be turned into. So you this is completely messed
- 49:13up my mapping because now I can't group my CB US correctly.
- 49:17And when you can't group your CB US correctly, you can't get the
- 49:20correct CBU credit because not only do you get credit for the
- 49:24open boxes in the CBU, you get credit for the key turn As for
- 49:29the collection departments and you get CBU credit for actually
- 49:33opening up and servicing ACBU. So opening the doors, unlatching
- 49:39it all, that is another credit. So you have to make sure that if
- 49:43you went through this program, this optimization program, that
- 49:46it didn't put those boxes somewhere else because in
- 49:49another part of the subdivision, they put, we'll call it Adam St.
- 49:54And it put that before my very last street at the end of my
- 49:59route, which is nowhere close to where it should have been.
- 50:04So which is why I had to turn in a line of travel on Wednesday to
- 50:07put everything back in its correct places.
- 50:10So that way I can group my CB us correctly so I can get the
- 50:12correct credit. And then of course trying to do
- 50:15my dismount list, that was another mess because it
- 50:18completely deleted everything. So it deleted how many parcel
- 50:22lockers I had, it deleted the footage and it was just a mess
- 50:26so I had to turn around. I couldn't even do my DPMLTM
- 50:30because I had to fix that first so that once it gets corrected
- 50:35then I can go back in, regroup everything and then re put in
- 50:38all the dismount measurements you can resequence.
- 50:42In the DPM, if need be, you just have to change the sequencing
- 50:47number. It can be a pain in the butt
- 50:49when you're doing a lot of them. But just so you know and the
- 50:52edit the electronic edit both side of the DPM, you can
- 50:55resequence it what using the sequence numbers it was about
- 50:59100. Boxes that were Yeah, that that
- 51:03one might just. Be easier to be uploaded by AMS.
- 51:06And yeah definitely with the mapping because I know I am on
- 51:10leave all of next week. Not this coming week, but
- 51:13starting the 19th and obviously I'm leaving Thursday for Reno
- 51:18and I'm on leave as well for Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday with
- 51:21the new baby coming. But I am actually going to go in
- 51:24on my own time. Why I'm on leave to make sure my
- 51:27mapping is done because I don't trust anybody else to do my
- 51:31mapping for my route. I would rather go in after the
- 51:36carriers have all left. So you know, it's nice and
- 51:39quiet. I can go in, get logged in since
- 51:42I was trained as a mapping facilitator.
- 51:45My postmaster just lets me do it by myself.
- 51:48She comes in, enters in password when it's needed to go to the
- 51:52next. Other than that, I am completely
- 51:54owned on doing my mapping so I will be going in on my own time
- 51:58to make sure that my mapping is done prior to leaving for Reno.
- 52:03Bill's been awfully quiet. Well, technically I'm on leave
- 52:07so. I'm not worried about the off
- 52:09the clock thing, I just want my mapping done before I go and I
- 52:14know a update until after the 20th.
- 52:18I don't like them being done. Sooner than that, even though
- 52:21our plume tries to push them to start sooner than that.
- 52:24I refuse to do it sooner than the 20th because then it will re
- 52:27update anyways and then you have to go back in and redo it.
- 52:32Well, Angry Bill would just like to go.
- 52:34Around and. Who's working off the clock?
- 52:38Because of the fact that, you know, they just, they don't pay.
- 52:42Attention, You know they, they. Don't care.
- 52:44It's it's all in their own self-interest.
- 52:46It really is. And I actually have one carrier
- 52:50who needs to be out early so that he can get his kids at
- 52:5523245 at daycare every day. Well, ladies and gentlemen,
- 53:01we've been fighting that story for years.
- 53:03And as you know, especially a lot of single moms, so excuse
- 53:08the expression, but don't cry on my shoulder about your
- 53:13situation. If you know you can't get there
- 53:16in time, then pay for after school, daycare, whatever.
- 53:20But stop cheating yourself, chop, stop cheating the Subs,
- 53:23stop helping management. And, and technically down the
- 53:27road these engineers will come back and say, wow, we need to
- 53:30change the time standards. Look at this.
- 53:33Well, This is why I always say when you take 100% of anything,
- 53:36you take 5% at the top, 5% of the bottom, you throw them out.
- 53:39The other 90% will give you your average because there are you
- 53:44know those unicorns top and bottom that affect us the same
- 53:49way it did with the mini mail survey.
- 53:51The problem with the mini mail survey, the first one we had
- 53:53were 66% of the carriers drop taking 5% out of there was
- 53:59approximately 12 + 1000 dollars the carrier.
- 54:05That's a huge 5% to drop at it versus the other end that went
- 54:09up the 8 hours, 5% of them was almost half of those carriers.
- 54:15So stop it. Just just stop it played by the
- 54:20same rules as everybody else is supposed to play by.
- 54:23OK. And you know, normal Bill, the,
- 54:27the, the conservative one, he turns around and he just files a
- 54:31grievance with the management. He talks to him once.
- 54:33The second time it happens, he files a grievance and there's a
- 54:36$200.00 panel. It's been paid once in my office
- 54:39this year. They don't want to pay $200.00
- 54:42again to every carrier. And it's not just.
- 54:45The rule carriers because. The settlement said every
- 54:48carrier in Westchester, so that's inclusive of city
- 54:51carriers, that's close to $20,000 they have to pay out
- 54:57and. Even they don't want to do that.
- 54:58And even if you. Have no.
- 55:00Edit book changes for the month or a month or any month.
- 55:04At that point, you don't have any edit book changes.
- 55:08Then still do your mapping. That gives you the chance to
- 55:12make sure that your pinpoints are where they need to be, that
- 55:17they haven't moved on you. I've had some end up in weird
- 55:20spots. It, you know, still take that
- 55:24time each month even if you don't have an edit book change.
- 55:27I understand some routes don't change very often at all.
- 55:30I understand that, but still take that time to run through
- 55:34your mapping and definitely, you know, find tweak those things
- 55:38that may need to be moved back into place.
- 55:41Or you may notice during an LTM that something looks wonky, like
- 55:45you're driving in a circle because a a box pinpoint is out
- 55:49of whack. You know, still go through and
- 55:52make sure that that is all correct on those months that you
- 55:56don't have any edit book changes.
- 55:58Kristen, you gotta. Remember.
- 56:00Yeah, we've. Heard enough stories from
- 56:01carriers across the country that you know that they're having
- 56:05traffic control points disappear on them.
- 56:07They're they're having cluster box, you know, credits disappear
- 56:10for parcel lockers and and mail collection units, dismounts, the
- 56:15dismount distances, even if you haven't changed anything, these
- 56:18things are just randomly disappearing.
- 56:21And James says, you know, you get a pars label, which is a
- 56:24change of address. All of a sudden you have a
- 56:26vacancy. Well, no, it's not vacant.
- 56:29I just received this last week. It's 90 days.
- 56:32What the hell is wrong with the system?
- 56:34So unbelieved just because you didn't change anything that
- 56:39there aren't changes being made to the system you should check
- 56:42with every month because every month that's money.
- 56:45That's money out of your pocket. Absolutely.
- 56:49I have a new build going in. You know, they, I, I got the,
- 56:54the, the no stats notice for management.
- 56:58It's a new build. I didn't know they had moved in.
- 57:01In fact, I found out on Facebook, one of the local,
- 57:03local groups that they just moved into the new place and I
- 57:08was like, I don't even think they have a box up yet.
- 57:10It's a new bill I went by, no box.
- 57:11I click no, it's, it's vacant. The very next day I got a hold
- 57:15card for them. So I'm like, OK, but yeah, you
- 57:19know, you definitely, like I said, even if you don't have any
- 57:22edit book changes that you make yourself, definitely go through
- 57:25your mapping and double check and make sure everything is
- 57:27where it's supposed to be, whether it's active inactives or
- 57:32pinpoints, making sure that these don't move.
- 57:35I've had some that ended up in a Creek.
- 57:39Yeah, 1/4 of a. Mile from the box.
- 57:41Where the actual boxes? How that happened I have no
- 57:43clue, but I had to go in and change it.
- 57:46And I'm going to say it's been the past.
- 57:48Two months that I've noticed that it was doing the marking of
- 57:52vacant. Last month it happened.
- 57:54I kind of threw it off as maybe a fluke, something just got
- 57:58wires got crossed or something, you know.
- 58:01But this month it was an address that I had known the people had
- 58:04moved out, had sold the house, knew people had moved in
- 58:08literally the next day. It was funny because the person
- 58:13that bought the house put in there forward to start ahead of
- 58:18time and literally came in the day after they moved in to the
- 58:23post office asking where their mail was and that was the first
- 58:28piece of mail that day I had gotten for their address was
- 58:30that specific day that they came into the post office and it.
- 58:35Marked it vacant. This past mapping, so I had to
- 58:39turn around and tell my postmaster I'm going to have to
- 58:43file on that because that's the second month in a row it's
- 58:45happened and all of them are. Verified they were.
- 58:48Because of pars labels so. That's why I've passed.
- 58:52It up the chain, I'm going to see if up tops going to say
- 58:56anything if not, no, this week I'm filing the grievance because
- 58:59I want it to be timely. Whether they get back to me or
- 59:02not on that is up to them and their response is and I don't
- 59:07want to. I'll get back to you on that.
- 59:08We'll look into it or any of that.
- 59:10It's going to be file the grievance or give me a Step 4 on
- 59:14it. One of the two.
- 59:16It's like I said one at least. I know for sure you know with
- 59:19the one route in our office that one address had had their kids
- 59:23had moved back out and had forwarded out they still.
- 59:28Live there, it was just their. Kids, it was individual forwards
- 59:31and it was vacant, marked vacant.
- 59:33And he's like, this has never been a vacant box ever.
- 59:37So yeah, they had. Three of them like that.
- 59:40Yeah, definitely pay attention and like I said, double check.
- 59:43If you get new edit sheets, definitely take that time and
- 59:45double check those as well. In God we Trust.
- 59:49All this pay cash pretty much. All right, I had.
- 59:55One more thing come across my desk and then I'll be done for
- 59:58the day. I have in my hands a.
- 1:00:05Date of. Award of July 5th, 2023 National
- 1:00:10Association of letter carriers versus the United states Postal
- 1:00:13Service in arbitration and. The issue at hand?
- 1:00:19Was management had changed the start time from 8:00 to 8:30 and
- 1:00:25they filed agreements on it and it went to arbitration with
- 1:00:29them. Now I will post a link to the
- 1:00:36arbitration decision and in discord for people if they want
- 1:00:42to read it. But in summary, I find that
- 1:00:48management violated Articles 5 and 19 of the National Agreement
- 1:00:52in a of the NALC and M 39 Section 122.11 when it won
- 1:00:58unilaterally change the start time at the JFK facility from
- 1:01:028:00 AM to 8:30 without considering the factors in M39
- 1:01:06and failed to bargain over the effects of the unilateral
- 1:01:09change. This grievance is granted.
- 1:01:12Management shall immediately reinstate the original start
- 1:01:14time of 8:00 AM for the carriers at the facility.
- 1:01:18This is a big win to start times and the grievance was on
- 1:01:29November 19th, 2022 was when it when it happened.
- 1:01:34So think about it was July 5th, 2023 that this answer came out.
- 1:01:39So it was almost a year later, but this right here on the start
- 1:01:44Times and this includes our 10 AM start times on Amazon
- 1:01:48Sundays. I want to know if our national
- 1:01:50office agreed to the changes across the nation of 10:00 AM
- 1:01:56sit. Excuse me, I sneezed.
- 1:02:01I'm sorry. That's OK, we know you have.
- 1:02:04Allergies. It's all right.
- 1:02:08Bullshit to bullshit. Yeah, so.
- 1:02:15That's the biggest thing that I can say is start times should be
- 1:02:20following all procedures. When it comes to that.
- 1:02:24I'm going to post it in the topics section for everybody to
- 1:02:31follow. And that's all I have for the.
- 1:02:35Day. Oh, next week everybody get.
- 1:02:41Your questions in. We want to do 1 final carrier
- 1:02:47Q&A of the candidates. Is there any candidates?
- 1:02:51Out there that want to join. In feel free let us know we'll
- 1:02:53get put it out so they can hear us.
- 1:02:55But Kristen, you have the question form still.
- 1:02:59Yep, I figured we repost. Those and get those up.
- 1:03:04In fact, I was just thinking that this evening while I was
- 1:03:08working on the buttons that we should do one final round.
- 1:03:12Must be we're around the same wavelength there for a moment,
- 1:03:16James. And yeah, definitely I was
- 1:03:20thinking the same thing. We'll get one more Q&A in in
- 1:03:22next week. I will get those posted up
- 1:03:25tonight. As a matter of fact, I will get
- 1:03:29on that as soon as I stop recording and whatnot.
- 1:03:35Sorry for all the if I got any background noise.
- 1:03:37I've been trying to get all this stuff together and and I'd like
- 1:03:42to put a shout out to my daughter.
- 1:03:44This past week. This girl has been a button
- 1:03:47pressing machine. So all the lovely buttons that
- 1:03:51you'll see for all four of us candidates on there, as well as
- 1:03:55podcast buttons, small ones, some of the bigger ones.
- 1:04:00This girl has pressed over 600 buttons this week.
- 1:04:06So she a big shout out to Ruby on that one.
- 1:04:12Thank you Ruby. Thank you Ruby.
- 1:04:16She is from Godfather. Bill.
- 1:04:18Yeah, right she is. Still thinking about joining the
- 1:04:22craft this fall, so we'll see what happens.
- 1:04:24Oh, I know, I know isn't quite swayed away yet.
- 1:04:30She, you know, she, she as much as she would love to come to
- 1:04:33Reno, I am not traveling across the country with a newborn.
- 1:04:36So nor was she'll be ready to travel across the country
- 1:04:40either. But well, that's why they make
- 1:04:42them roof. Carriers, you know, I have one
- 1:04:45of those, but yeah. But no, we yeah, she she's done
- 1:04:53a lot of work for for all of us this past week.
- 1:04:56And that I will have button key chains for the podcast.
- 1:05:01I will have both the 1 1/2 inch and the two and 1/4 inch buttons
- 1:05:06for the podcast. I do have some limited magnets
- 1:05:12and bottle opener slash magnets, very limited like 14 each.
- 1:05:18I think I might save those out for the meet and greet or select
- 1:05:22individuals. We'll see how that goes.
- 1:05:25I thought about ordering more, but it just was not financially
- 1:05:27feasible to do that for the amount they want, for the stuff,
- 1:05:32for how many I get. So, but I do have limited
- 1:05:36amounts of those. But we'll have the button key
- 1:05:38chains and the buttons and of course the campaign buttons for
- 1:05:41all four candidates. Yeah, it it should.
- 1:05:44Be. You know, it should be fun.
- 1:05:47What do you guys think? You looking forward to?
- 1:05:49Reno as much as I am. Oh God, yes.
- 1:05:53Thank you. Can't wait to meet.
- 1:05:55Everyone I I'm so hyped up that you know.
- 1:06:01We could actually change this craft and and, and bringing
- 1:06:04everybody back together in the fold.
- 1:06:06Really exactly. It's like it's.
- 1:06:09It's like being. It's like being a steward.
- 1:06:11You got to represent people that you don't particularly like or
- 1:06:14people that don't particularly like you.
- 1:06:17Doesn't matter. You do the same job.
- 1:06:19And and that's the problem with our national board.
- 1:06:22They they forgot they're in a position of service.
- 1:06:27It's not a matter of leadership because of the fact that you're
- 1:06:31in an elected position. You're our leader, You're a
- 1:06:34spokesperson. That's right.
- 1:06:36You're supposed to speak on our behalf and they don't.
- 1:06:40I mean, we had the first mini mail survey.
- 1:06:44At what point did anybody on the national board lose money?
- 1:06:48Oh, it doesn't matter. They're not in the craft.
- 1:06:50They're not paid by them. But, and I saw somebody who
- 1:06:53said, you know something about the board pays the NSS, we pay
- 1:06:58the NSS, we pay the board, we pay the NSS, we pay for the
- 1:07:02consultants, the lawyers, the engineers, we pay for every damn
- 1:07:07thing that this union occurs as an expense.
- 1:07:12It comes out of our dues money. And guess what?
- 1:07:16I'm sick and tired of getting a poor return on my investment.
- 1:07:21It's not even an investment. It depreciates as soon as they
- 1:07:24get it. We need the.
- 1:07:27We need to change it. We need to change it this year
- 1:07:31and we need to change it before we get to a contract because Don
- 1:07:35Madison will sell us down the river and say, well, this is the
- 1:07:39best we got or we couldn't persuade them so went to
- 1:07:42arbitration. This with the arbitrator awarded
- 1:07:45us before it gets to arbitration.
- 1:07:49You ought to be hammering these bastards because we deserve it.
- 1:07:53Table 2 needs to disappear. Table 4 needs to disappear.
- 1:08:00Rcas need a age step program so that if you're in there for 15
- 1:08:05years, you're not making the same money as the guy hired last
- 1:08:08month, James says. PTFS let's realign their their
- 1:08:14allotment the half of what a regular carrier pays because
- 1:08:19they're not getting full time hours every week they're only
- 1:08:23guaranteed two to five let's get this union turned around let
- 1:08:27let's get RCA is paid time and 1/2 for Sundays and holidays
- 1:08:32about that ladies and gentlemen no especially the fact that
- 1:08:35they. Created a position specifically
- 1:08:37for holidays and Sundays the the the arc position.
- 1:08:42So now if you're having city or excuse me, you're having Rcas
- 1:08:47and PTFS running packages on Sundays and holidays, they
- 1:08:51should be doing it at a premium. You have a position specifically
- 1:08:54for that job? Yep.
- 1:08:57It's time to enough is enough, guys.
- 1:08:59It's time to stand up. It's time to fight.
- 1:09:00It's time to make sure our voices are 100% heard when we
- 1:09:05get to convention. If you're a delegate, remember
- 1:09:09you're responsible for 100 dues paying members.
- 1:09:14That's how our constitution is broken down.
- 1:09:16You represent 100 other carriers.
- 1:09:20Make sure you know. Which 100?
- 1:09:22You're representing. Yeah, it's funny.
- 1:09:25To think that right now we are at a precipice with the royal
- 1:09:31Craft when it comes up to the contract that's coming up and
- 1:09:38you've got people out there that just like the last one, say you
- 1:09:41need to vote for this contract because if we go to arbitration,
- 1:09:44we'll lose. You know, arbitrations shouldn't
- 1:09:49be a loss. You should go into arbitrations
- 1:09:53expecting to win. I understand like Corey says,
- 1:09:57you go in, it's a 5050 crapshoot whether or not the arbitrator is
- 1:10:00going to rule for you. But to be losing arbitrations,
- 1:10:0478% of arbitrations means you're not going in there properly.
- 1:10:10You're not properly prepared. You're not prepared with what
- 1:10:13the adversary on the other side of the aisle is going to bring
- 1:10:16up. You're not prepared for what's
- 1:10:18going on in society today. Our arbitration losses are way
- 1:10:25too high. How is it that every other craft
- 1:10:30has way better arbitrations than we do when we're using almost
- 1:10:36all the same language in the contracts?
- 1:10:38Most of the contracts are nearly identical in a lot of languages.
- 1:10:43So I don't understand how it is that people can go into
- 1:10:47arbitration and not be fully prepared for them in that
- 1:10:51aspect. And when we're talking about
- 1:10:53contract arbitrations, you can win a contract arbitration.
- 1:11:01Yes, you're going to lose on some points, but you're going to
- 1:11:06have to sit there and fight to win your argument.
- 1:11:14And you have to know what management's going to put
- 1:11:17against you. Because if you can sit there and
- 1:11:20say, Mr. Arbitrator, this is what they're going to tell you.
- 1:11:24This is what they're going to say, but this is the actual
- 1:11:27truth to what they're saying. Do you know how many
- 1:11:31arbitrations are won with just the fact that the person arguing
- 1:11:34their point knows what their adversary is going to say and
- 1:11:37tells the arbitrator what their adversary is going to say?
- 1:11:41All of them. Remember you lose 100% of the
- 1:11:46fights. You don't fight or you lose 100%
- 1:11:49of the fights. You don't even go into all.
- 1:11:52Right, guys, we ready to wrap this.
- 1:11:54Up for The Tonight, ready as I'll ever be.
- 1:11:58All right, go ahead, James, your.
- 1:11:59Final words for this evening. Pay attention.
- 1:12:03Guys, these next three weeks are very important.
- 1:12:09These next three weeks, not only leading up to National
- 1:12:13Convention but also through National Convention, are going
- 1:12:17to be the most important weeks for the Royal craft.
- 1:12:22Not only do we. Have a national.
- 1:12:23Convention during the mini meal survey, which is very important
- 1:12:27as well for all rural carriers. But we're at a precipice when it
- 1:12:33comes to contract negotiations. We know that the city craft is
- 1:12:37almost 2 two years without a contract, but it's time for the
- 1:12:41rural craft to stand up, time for us to get together, time for
- 1:12:48us to. Show management.
- 1:12:50The rural national officers and the world that the rural letter
- 1:12:58carriers who stand up prove that we're all in this together.
- 1:13:04Toasty. Go ahead and stay safe out.
- 1:13:07There guys, it's still getting pretty hot, especially in my
- 1:13:10area and thankfully it's gone from one hundreds down to the
- 1:13:1390s. Stay hydrated If you've got I
- 1:13:17know we were talking pre show about water spouts and rain and
- 1:13:21storms and hurricanes right now. Turn around, don't drown.
- 1:13:24It's not worth it for just the male you.
- 1:13:28Safety relies on you. You know that you have your
- 1:13:31training if you've been given training.
- 1:13:36Make sure that you always look out for yourself.
- 1:13:38Make sure that you look out for your brothers and sisters, of
- 1:13:42the craft, of your neighbors, of your family.
- 1:13:47Look out for each other. How about you, Kristen?
- 1:13:49I was going to go to bed. What about?
- 1:13:51Bill. OK, Bill.
- 1:13:52Bill Yeah. Thanks.
- 1:13:54Thanks a lot, Toasty. Damn.
- 1:13:57You know. I've been.
- 1:13:59Too quiet on. Here, that's the problem.
- 1:14:02Well, you know, I, I, I've been. Pensive.
- 1:14:04I mean, I've got a lot on my plate right now, but you know
- 1:14:08that that's OK. My feelings aren't hurt.
- 1:14:10Toasty. I'm not sensitive like the rest
- 1:14:13of them. I'm sorry anyway, the build off
- 1:14:18of what Tosi said in regards to looking out for each other, look
- 1:14:21out especially for for the Subs. The RCA's OK because if their
- 1:14:26new hires are you know, they're 5-6 months into the job.
- 1:14:30They can be intimidated and and always explain to a carrier if
- 1:14:37the hairs on. Your back of your neck are.
- 1:14:38Going up if something just doesn't feel right in regards to
- 1:14:41traveling in bad weather and don't do it.
- 1:14:46Don't put yourself at risk. Not for the male, not for
- 1:14:49somebody's parcels, not for their medication or anything.
- 1:14:53Because guess what? You know, if anything happens to
- 1:14:55you, can't replace you. We can replace everything else
- 1:14:59in that truck with you. So, you know, pay attention to
- 1:15:03your your feelings, OK? If you don't feel safe, then
- 1:15:06you're not safe and turn around and fill out a 1767 and cover
- 1:15:11your ass for it. And it's a judgement call.
- 1:15:13Management can't make it for you.
- 1:15:14You are the only one can make that judgement call at the time.
- 1:15:19So exercise discretion. Like James says, the next three
- 1:15:22weeks are going to be critical for this union and the direction
- 1:15:26it goes into and the representation of the craft.
- 1:15:30But please take that to heart. If you're a delegate listening
- 1:15:34to us, please don't go along with the sheep.
- 1:15:38Vote your conscience. Vote for.
- 1:15:40What you believe should be the direction this craft is going
- 1:15:45into regards to representing the craft, the entire craft, all
- 1:15:51120,000 plus carriers because if we.
- 1:15:55Continue down the. Path we've been going, if we go
- 1:15:58with the status quo, you're going to get the status quo
- 1:16:01raises, you're going to get the status quo protection, you're
- 1:16:04going to get the same type of information and lack of
- 1:16:08information, I should say, and the lack of transparency that
- 1:16:12we've been getting from our national board for the last 15
- 1:16:14years. This is your opportunity to
- 1:16:17change that. This is the opportunity to take
- 1:16:19your union back, make it your own.
- 1:16:23I will guarantee you, just like we endorse John Adams, we will
- 1:16:28be accessible. It's almost. 24 hours a.
- 1:16:32Day seven days a week, we get some sleep in there somewhere,
- 1:16:36but the fact of the matter is if we get called on a Saturday or
- 1:16:40Sunday, we're going to respond on a Saturday and Sunday because
- 1:16:43you're entitled to that service and for what they're paying
- 1:16:47these individuals. Thank you for checking my
- 1:16:51language there Kristen, we deserve more.
- 1:16:56We. We deserve a lot more what we're
- 1:17:00paying. Our dues.
- 1:17:02New week coming up. Get your edit books done, get
- 1:17:07your DPM, your LTMS done. Sooner the better.
- 1:17:11Mini mail survey coming up. Pay attention.
- 1:17:14Train your Subs you know to pay attention to.
- 1:17:17Look for what to enter, where to enter it.
- 1:17:21Protect your paycheck, ladies and gentlemen.
- 1:17:22Educate yourselves, educate your Subs, educate your fellow
- 1:17:26carriers. We are in this all together.
- 1:17:30And with that, be safe, be professional, be efficient,
- 1:17:36because you are. The most important delivery.
- 1:17:38Of the day and that's to your loved ones.
- 1:17:41Have a good week. Thank you guys.
- 1:17:44I appreciate. It and you know, whatever what
- 1:17:48are you shouldn't one of these gentlemen have spoken to tonight
- 1:17:52as well? I have to agree with, you know,
- 1:17:55these next three weeks are pretty crucial.
- 1:17:57I have one more week left at work and like I said, I'm going
- 1:18:01to go. I'm going to make sure my
- 1:18:03mapping's done. Whether it happens as much as I
- 1:18:06really don't want to do it before the 20th, if I have to do
- 1:18:08it Saturday, I will. Otherwise I will say, hey, I
- 1:18:11will stop in and do my mapping real quick.
- 1:18:14You know, I know what I. Have a difference I.
- 1:18:16Keep a pretty good eye on my mapping every month, so it
- 1:18:19shouldn't Take Me Out much more than maybe 15 minutes.
- 1:18:22But at that spot, guys, especially if you're in offices
- 1:18:26where management's doing the mapping behind your back, don't
- 1:18:30let that continue anymore. Make sure you take the time to
- 1:18:34do that mapping. It is critical for your route.
- 1:18:39Evaluation the mapping. Is it?
- 1:18:41It's a big, huge portion. It's it affects more than you
- 1:18:44realize, you know, it's still. August, the weather.
- 1:18:48Is kind of crazy. It's been kind of cooler here in
- 1:18:51northeastern Michigan. I mean, it was really great
- 1:18:54yesterday. I didn't have to turn the fan on
- 1:18:55in the LOVI, just had the other window rolled down a crack and I
- 1:18:59enjoyed the day. But it's still hot in some
- 1:19:02areas. You know, stay hydrated.
- 1:19:04Even if it's cooler, stay hydrated, you know, do what you
- 1:19:08got to do to protect yourself because you know, as Bill says,
- 1:19:11you are the most important delivery today.
- 1:19:13Getting home to your loved ones and watch out for each other.
- 1:19:17If you know somebody's having an issue with the heat or even if
- 1:19:20it's in the office, you know, let them know, let somebody know
- 1:19:25if somebody's not handling something well, have each
- 1:19:27other's backs. That's the very least you can do
- 1:19:30for your Co workers is, is to have their backs in, in, in in
- 1:19:35times of need. So and I go stay safe this week.
- 1:19:38We will be back next week. I will get the questionnaire
- 1:19:42posted. We will do one last trial by
- 1:19:46fire Q&A for the four candidates that are on here.
- 1:19:50And then, yeah, then we'll be off to Reno early after I have
- 1:19:56that grandbaby. Updates for that will be on
- 1:19:58Discord, not Facebook. Sorry guys, but.
- 1:20:02On that note, take care everybody, stay safe and we will
- 1:20:05be back next week. You hear that?
- 1:20:20We got groceries. For under $100.
