- 0:00Speaker 1: And oh, well, I believe it's German, but it's Haberstrow.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yeah, let's give credit. What credit to todm and Haberstrow
- 0:07Speaker 2: of Yahoo Sports.
- 0:09Speaker 1: So SGA has fallen twenty times on one hundred and
- 0:12Speaker 1: eighty seven shots.
- 0:13Speaker 2: That's at ten point seven percent.
- 0:15Speaker 1: James Harden has fawn nineteen times with two hundred and
- 0:18Speaker 1: nineteen shots at eight point seven percent. Jalen Brunson fawn
- 0:21Speaker 1: nineteen times two hundred and forty shots, seven percent, seven
- 0:24Speaker 1: point nine. Donovan Mitchell twenty six fall three hundred and
- 0:29Speaker 1: forty two shot attempts. Good lord, he's checking that thing
- 0:32Speaker 1: and four percent rates seven point six. And then Victor
- 0:34Speaker 1: women Yama one hundred and sixty four shots.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Guess somebody times he's falling. Just guess forty once, zero
- 0:44Speaker 2: point six. I love that.
- 0:46Speaker 1: So Victor he you know, he mister slim thing. He
- 0:49Speaker 1: stays up right quite a bit.
- 0:50Speaker 2: Maybe he should be the MVP. Is gildess Alexander gonna
- 0:54Speaker 2: win it again? He already won it? Oh, they are
- 0:57Speaker 2: determined for this year. Yep, where was I Connecticut? You
- 1:00Speaker 2: was that this week? He was handling business?
- 1:02Speaker 1: Okay, celebrating that was this week yes, okay, so this
- 1:05Speaker 1: past week technically, so it happened.
- 1:08Speaker 2: I want to say Sunday, Monday, okay, so yeah, I'm okay,
- 1:12Speaker 2: you're good. I'm glad I missed it then, but okay,
- 1:14Speaker 2: So not as much as people think that gildas Alexander.
- 1:17Speaker 1: And it gets a little deeper. How often does SGA
- 1:20Speaker 1: fall on foul shots? So this is when clearly the
- 1:23Speaker 1: rep see the fall foul SGA thirty seven shots fall
- 1:28Speaker 1: nineteen times, that's fifty one percent. James Harden has fallen
- 1:32Speaker 1: twelve on forty one shots, twenty nine. Victor Wibinyama twenty
- 1:37Speaker 1: eight shots has fallen seven times. Jalen Brunson and Domin
- 1:41Speaker 1: Mitchell have fallen five times both, and then twenty six
- 1:44Speaker 1: shots for Jalen, twenty eight shots for Domin Mitchell nineteen
- 1:47Speaker 1: and seventeen percent perspectively.
- 1:49Speaker 2: So that's more interesting because then whenever gil just Alexander
- 1:53Speaker 2: even thinks he's feeling this is more than the heart
- 1:55Speaker 2: of the matter. When he's even feeling like he might
- 1:58Speaker 2: get contact, he's going to the ground, and then I
- 2:01Speaker 2: think it's a chicken in the egg. The fowls are
- 2:03Speaker 2: coming after he hits the floor right.
- 2:05Speaker 1: I would argue you probably most likely, because usually when
- 2:09Speaker 1: you see someone hit the floor, you're industy records, Oh
- 2:10Speaker 1: something happened.
- 2:11Speaker 2: I gotta blow it.
- 2:12Speaker 1: Whereas if you stay grounded and you're official, you've done it.
- 2:16Speaker 2: He's probably flopping.
- 2:17Speaker 1: I'm not gonna give him credit for that, but I
- 2:20Speaker 1: think one thing that he's also good at doing is
- 2:23Speaker 1: getting players defenders hands in the cookie jar per se.
- 2:26Speaker 1: If you're reaching, he's able to abuse his arms and
- 2:29Speaker 1: maneuver them. And when there's contact that's obvious, you can't
- 2:32Speaker 1: do that. That's illegal contact. So there's files and the
- 2:35Speaker 1: last one, how often does SGA fall on all shots?
- 2:40Speaker 1: So this is everything falling, not falling, you name it.
- 2:44Speaker 1: With two hundred and twenty four shots, SG has fallen
- 2:47Speaker 1: thirty nine times at seventeen point four percent. James Harden
- 2:51Speaker 1: has taken two hundred and sixty shots. He has fallen
- 2:54Speaker 1: thirty one at eleven point nine Jalen Brunton to sixty six,
- 2:58Speaker 1: falling twenty four times. Donovan Mitchell three hundred and seventy shots.
- 3:03Speaker 1: That boy Donovan be shooting, y'all. He's fallen thirty one
- 3:06Speaker 1: times at an eight point four percent, clip and then
- 3:08Speaker 1: Victor Winbin Yama one hundred and ninety two shots and
- 3:11Speaker 1: has fallen eight times at four point two percent. And
- 3:14Speaker 1: this dude has gone back and watched all the tape.
- 3:17Speaker 1: So shout out to Tom. I want to say it's
- 3:21Speaker 1: Haberstrow of Yahoo's Sport. Yah's so wait a minute.
- 3:24Speaker 2: Donovan Mitchell has shot three hundred and sixty times seven
- 3:27Speaker 2: and James Harden has shot two hundred and sixty times.
- 3:29Speaker 2: That's that's six hundred and fifty times for those two stars.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Yeah, and that's through the playoffs, right, so from round
- 3:36Speaker 1: one up until right now where they're at the Eastern
- 3:39Speaker 1: Conference Finals.
- 3:40Speaker 2: They have basketballs in Cleveland for those two they're in
- 3:42Speaker 2: the same team shooting six hundred and fifty times and
- 3:45Speaker 2: getting they shots up. Thirty nine minutes for Donovan Mitchell
- 3:48Speaker 2: last night twenty six points, but they lost to the
- 3:52Speaker 2: Knicks in Game one of the Eastern Conference Finals. Well, thanks, Chris.
- 3:55Speaker 2: That was interesting when you.
- 3:56Speaker 1: Yeah, because a lot of fans were, you know, he
- 3:58Speaker 1: flops every time, and some dude was like, all right,
- 4:00Speaker 1: that's not the case. Let's just do a little digging here.
- 4:04Speaker 1: So again, that's a lot of shot attempts to watch
- 4:06Speaker 1: for all these players. It's over a thousand shots that
- 4:08Speaker 1: he's just going through and watching the tape, and how
- 4:12Speaker 1: many times are you fallen on all shots versus being
- 4:14Speaker 1: fouled not being fouled. So yeah, seventeen point four fall
- 4:19Speaker 1: rate percentage for SGA, which is not what you would think.
- 4:23Speaker 2: You would think it's somewhere.
- 4:25Speaker 1: I think you said like forty percent Greg this morning
- 4:27Speaker 1: when we talked off way. Yes, yeah, so yeah, quite interesting.
- 4:31Speaker 1: They still a lot though, I mean seventeen percent is
- 4:34Speaker 1: I mean, look at Victor Wimenyama, He's at four percent of.
- 4:37Speaker 2: The whole Thunder team. I saw a breakdown of women
- 4:39Speaker 2: Yama getting hooked by someone in the post for the Thunder. Yeah,
- 4:42Speaker 2: and they called the foul and women Yama.
- 4:44Speaker 1: But see the refs they got to I think they
- 4:46Speaker 1: need to train their eyes to be to realize when
- 4:49Speaker 1: they're being hooked. Because it's easy for us that don't
- 4:51Speaker 1: officiate games to watch it live and like, oh, that's
- 4:54Speaker 1: an offensive foul, But when you're in the moment, you
- 4:56Speaker 1: don't even your brain doesn't even realize, oh, he's being hooked,
- 5:02Speaker 1: Like you have to go back to the replay to
- 5:04Speaker 1: see that if they even challenge it, and then again,
- 5:07Speaker 1: you only get one challenge, so if you get it wrong,
- 5:10Speaker 1: you're not getting another challenge for the rest of the game.
- 5:11Speaker 2: That's the thing on these floppings and fake contacts that
- 5:15Speaker 2: the Thunder are doing is that if the the ponent
- 5:19Speaker 2: wants to get it right, he's got to use his challenge.
- 5:21Speaker 2: The coach, the team has to use their challenge, and
- 5:23Speaker 2: they got to use it on something that should never
- 5:24Speaker 2: been called in the first place.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, all right. Who's running the Rams right now?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Because who I'm trying to destroy them?
- 5:34Speaker 2: That would work out for the Seahawks. They just the
- 5:36Speaker 2: Rams go inviscerate themselves. The biggest threat to the Seahawks
- 5:40Speaker 2: getting back to the super Bowl in their own division
- 5:42Speaker 2: the Rams. Who's in charge of them right now? Because
- 5:45Speaker 2: it sure looks like Sean McVay did orchestrated what happened yesterday?
- 5:50Speaker 2: What happened yesterday the Ram. I'm sure, Mike Benton, you
- 5:53Speaker 2: guys talked about this yesterday.
- 5:54Speaker 1: Maybe we did it after we didn't, Okay, we didn't,
- 5:57Speaker 1: But it's a perfect opportunity to.
- 5:58Speaker 2: Break a new ground and then the show fifty five
- 6:01Speaker 2: million dollars one year extension for Matthew Stafford, who's thirty
- 6:04Speaker 2: eight years old of back problems. His contract now runs
- 6:07Speaker 2: through twenty twenty seven with the not just this season,
- 6:10Speaker 2: but now next. They tacked on an extra season at
- 6:12Speaker 2: fifty five million. Chris, you know how much they owe
- 6:15Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford the next two seasons? The Rams do over
- 6:18Speaker 2: one hundred and ten million dollars one oh five to
- 6:20Speaker 2: be exactly. That's really good, by the way, one to
- 6:23Speaker 2: oh five. They owe him one hundred five million this
- 6:25Speaker 2: year and next. They drafted a quarterback thirteenth overall. Done
- 6:30Speaker 2: this thing, you can do the magic. So who's running
- 6:33Speaker 2: the Rams? Matthew Stafford and Sean McVay are buds. I mean,
- 6:38Speaker 2: McVeigh got Stafford to come from the ramp from the
- 6:40Speaker 2: Detroit where he'd played his whole seat career and not
- 6:42Speaker 2: done anything in the postseason and comes to the Rams
- 6:45Speaker 2: and wins the Super Bowl. So McVeigh loves him, and
- 6:47Speaker 2: Stafford loves McVay. McVeigh pulled this strain yesterday. They give
- 6:52Speaker 2: him fifty fifty five million dollars for his age thirty
- 6:55Speaker 2: nine season. But that's not the same mentality that if
- 7:00Speaker 2: you existed in the Rams draft this spring, because they
- 7:03Speaker 2: drafted Ty Simpson, the Alabama quarterback who some people think of,
- 7:06Speaker 2: maybe not as first round pick, maybe not as surefire
- 7:08Speaker 2: NFL starter. Some scouts I know think they drafted him
- 7:13Speaker 2: thirteenth overall. Of course, the magic of drafting a quarterback
- 7:16Speaker 2: in the first round is that you think that guy's
- 7:19Speaker 2: going to start immediately, and therefore you have your quarterback
- 7:23Speaker 2: at rookie rock bottom price. At quarterback market, it's a
- 7:29Speaker 2: fraction of the cost of whatever typical NFL start. I mean, hell,
- 7:33Speaker 2: their quarterbacks aren't even middle of the road making twenty
- 7:36Speaker 2: five million dollars a year in this league, and you're
- 7:38Speaker 2: going to get a first round draft pick on a
- 7:40Speaker 2: slotted salary at a twentieth of that cost for a
- 7:44Speaker 2: season or two. If you got a quarterback starting on
- 7:48Speaker 2: a rookie contract, you're and he succeeds, you could go
- 7:51Speaker 2: to the Super Bowl. Look at the Seahawks with Russell
- 7:54Speaker 2: Wilson in twenty thirteen to fourteen, Jalen Hurts on the
- 7:57Speaker 2: twenty twenty two Eagles on a rookie con you can
- 8:01Speaker 2: go buy the rest of your team to fill the holes.
- 8:03Speaker 2: Because your quarterback's making pennies relative to the rest of
- 8:06Speaker 2: the quarterbacks in the league. So if you're drafting a
- 8:09Speaker 2: quarterback in the first round, he's playing so you can
- 8:12Speaker 2: build the rest of your team around him. So the
- 8:14Speaker 2: Rams they drafted a layaway quarterback. That was less Sneed's decision.
- 8:18Speaker 2: And we went through. Remember the night of the draft
- 8:20Speaker 2: and Sean McVay with his terse and hands of his
- 8:23Speaker 2: jeans as he was sitting, just the body language of
- 8:26Speaker 2: his eye rolls, and I mean, he was pissed. And
- 8:29Speaker 2: then next day he came out and apologized and said, Wow,
- 8:33Speaker 2: I was really on board, and I've talked to him
- 8:34Speaker 2: and it was great. And I was just trying to
- 8:38Speaker 2: vouch for how much I still aligned with Matthew Stafford
- 8:42Speaker 2: and how Stafford's on board and we're not trying to
- 8:44Speaker 2: run him out, and obviously they're not trying to run
- 8:46Speaker 2: him out if they're gonna give him a fifty five
- 8:47Speaker 2: million dollar extension. Now, having said all that, if Matthew
- 8:52Speaker 2: Stafford's back backs up this season, he can't play anymore
- 8:54Speaker 2: than that fifty five million dollar extension won't matter in
- 8:58Speaker 2: a non guarantee league, and that would be the end
- 8:59Speaker 2: of the contract in career. But if he doesn't get hurt,
- 9:04Speaker 2: of course the big if In the NFL, they've got
- 9:06Speaker 2: him on books for one hundred and five million to
- 9:08Speaker 2: be their start in the next two seasons. That would
- 9:10Speaker 2: be halfway into Ty Simpson's rookie contract. So I mean,
- 9:15Speaker 2: this is Aaron Rodgers in Green Bay behind Brett fav
- 9:18Speaker 2: that was at the bottom the last pick of the
- 9:20Speaker 2: first round. This is at top thirteen pick. The Rams
- 9:23Speaker 2: never picked Bear, and yet they picked Bear anyway. So
- 9:30Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford getting a fifty five million dollar extension means
- 9:33Speaker 2: that the Rams are playing for Ty Simpson to not
- 9:36Speaker 2: play at least two years, losing half of his rookie
- 9:40Speaker 2: contract window. I mean, it's it is just about. It
- 9:44Speaker 2: remains a baffling decision that makes me want to think
- 9:46Speaker 2: who is actually calling the shots down there. Less Snead,
- 9:49Speaker 2: the general manager called the shot on drafting Ty Simpson,
- 9:52Speaker 2: that's obvious, and Matthew Stafford that is Sean mcvay's guy.
- 9:57Speaker 2: And it seems as though that is Sean McVay getting
- 10:01Speaker 2: his way in this extension four nine four or five
- 10:03Speaker 2: one and to come a dodge text on. We'll be
- 10:04Speaker 2: back to text at eleven thirty about this about the
- 10:06Speaker 2: Seahawks chief rival, the Rams, about what we talked about
- 10:10Speaker 2: the Enhanced Olympics. A couple good quote texts on that
- 10:12Speaker 2: incutting one from a guy in Las Vegas. Maybe laugh
- 10:15Speaker 2: two heights. We'll helpen up the phone lines if you
- 10:17Speaker 2: want to talk. Everyone says, how come KG already ever
- 10:19Speaker 2: puts people with fans on the air. You want to
- 10:22Speaker 2: talk about this piggybacking with Luis Castillo as some of
- 10:24Speaker 2: you are on the text line two O six two
- 10:27Speaker 2: eight six ninety five ninety five. Put a couple of
- 10:30Speaker 2: callers on the air two O six two eight six
- 10:32Speaker 2: ninety five ninety five. Anything you want to talk about,
- 10:35Speaker 2: We'll open it up. We're trying to get the New
- 10:37Speaker 2: York Knicks beat writer, but he was busy today this afternoon.
- 10:40Speaker 2: That's what we thought we were gonna do at eleven
- 10:41Speaker 2: o'clock today. But Chris, the the NBA plasses. You see
- 10:47Speaker 2: the Knicks rolling, I love it. It's it's been really
- 10:50Speaker 2: good seeing the Knicks do this. Because Nicks they're a
- 10:53Speaker 2: big market, right, They're one of those lah they're definitely
- 10:57Speaker 2: flagship team.
- 10:58Speaker 1: Yeah, so's to see them in jail brunts and the
- 11:00Speaker 1: team playing well.
- 11:02Speaker 2: It's fun.
- 11:03Speaker 1: NBA is that's great for the league, and I think
- 11:06Speaker 1: they're gonna get out of the East. I believe that
- 11:08Speaker 1: the Cleveland Cavs will respond to when the next two games,
- 11:10Speaker 1: but I think ultimately Nixon six. But so far, the
- 11:13Speaker 1: Knicks have been playing some good basketball. Mike Brown's been
- 11:16Speaker 1: criticized quite a bit as the coach, and I think
- 11:18Speaker 1: a lot of it is deserved. But the way he
- 11:20Speaker 1: has his team playing right now, I mean you gotta
- 11:22Speaker 1: to give him credit. And Greg kind of teased about
- 11:24Speaker 1: it earlier. Shoot, I talked about the Knicks, and here
- 11:26Speaker 1: they are on the Cusp two games, two wins away
- 11:29Speaker 1: from going to the NBA Finals to take on one
- 11:33Speaker 1: of those Joggarnaut teams. I'm sorry, whoever they face, the
- 11:35Speaker 1: Knicks are probably going to lose. I don't see them
- 11:37Speaker 1: beating either of those teams.
- 11:40Speaker 2: So the Spur's gonna beat the Floppers.
- 11:42Speaker 1: I don't know if their time, I don't know if
- 11:43Speaker 1: they're ready yet. I don't know unless Victor takes the
- 11:46Speaker 1: next step and becoming the best player on that court,
- 11:49Speaker 1: which he definitely could it's I just don't know if
- 11:53Speaker 1: they're ready. I think one more year because I do
- 11:56Speaker 1: believe that okay SE's a little deeper. Not to mention
- 11:58Speaker 1: dearon Fox is out, that doesn't really help.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Who has to go off for the Spurs beside women
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yama for them to beat the thunder vessel Castle.
- 12:10Speaker 1: Maybe one of those two guys, if one of them
- 12:12Speaker 1: can get hot, that could really help. But I mean
- 12:15Speaker 1: missing D'aron Fox, and that's tough not having your point
- 12:18Speaker 1: guard because now you're relying on guys that aren't point
- 12:21Speaker 1: guards necessarily to carry your offense.
- 12:24Speaker 2: And that's the Aaron's job.
- 12:25Speaker 1: So that's that ankle injury must be really serious because
- 12:28Speaker 1: he's missed the first two games and it sounds like
- 12:30Speaker 1: he's not gonna plays. So that's a really unfortunate situation
- 12:34Speaker 1: for this team that has goals of winning a championship
- 12:37Speaker 1: and they could fall short because they don't have their
- 12:39Speaker 1: point guard, which is as a.
- 12:41Speaker 2: Small thing, but it's big at the end of the day.
- 12:43Speaker 1: When you don't have your leader at the guard position,
- 12:46Speaker 1: that changes your whole dynamic for your offense. So Mitch
- 12:48Speaker 1: Johnson's gonna have his work cut out for him tonight
- 12:52Speaker 1: to try to figure out how to get this offense
- 12:54Speaker 1: rolling without just saying, hey, Victor, do what you do.
- 12:57Speaker 1: It'd be nice for him to get touches just off
- 12:59Speaker 1: assist instead him trying to do everything off the dribble,
- 13:02Speaker 1: which he can do, but you want to make it
- 13:04Speaker 1: easy for your big man, I would say.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Mitch Johnson from Seattle. Don't you know you knew that?
- 13:09Speaker 2: Chris right? Oh yeah, how could you not? Man? Go
- 13:11Speaker 2: go Irish Oday High School two thousand and two to
- 13:15Speaker 2: five under coach Lumpkin. You knew that?
- 13:18Speaker 1: Yep, shout out Coach Lumpkin, Rest in peace. One of
- 13:20Speaker 1: the legends, one of my guys.
- 13:21Speaker 2: So yeah, he's the coach of the Spurs and thirty
- 13:24Speaker 2: nine years old. Are you able to watch I mean
- 13:28Speaker 2: they've been on Prime and yeah, YouTube.
- 13:30Speaker 1: And unfortunately caught up with everything. Oh so yeah, I
- 13:35Speaker 1: can watch it.
- 13:35Speaker 2: I've watched snap Kick. Those are lives a couple of
- 13:39Speaker 2: those streaming services.
- 13:40Speaker 1: So if you are let's say Eric, he's into streaming,
- 13:44Speaker 1: let's you know, he would probably have a channel on Kick.
- 13:46Speaker 1: He'll probably have a channel on all of those.
- 13:48Speaker 2: I get as. I don't know if he does, but
- 13:51Speaker 2: tonight's NBA NBC though, right, yeah, yeah, it's now I
- 13:54Speaker 2: got double check, sure to question it. Yeah, tonight's on NBC.
- 13:57Speaker 2: I did look that up. And so at least you
- 14:00Speaker 2: can watch it. Yes, it's available for you on NBC. Oh. ABC, Yes,
- 14:04Speaker 2: so if you have channel five, you should be good.
- 14:06Speaker 2: NBC Tonight is thunder at Spurs Game three tomorrow the
- 14:10Speaker 2: Eastern Conference Finals in the NBA five o'clock our time
- 14:14Speaker 2: on ABC. My bad, so NBC tonight, ABC.
- 14:17Speaker 1: It's also on Peacock for all you folks that are
- 14:19Speaker 1: caught up into streaming services, so you get it two ways.
- 14:22Speaker 2: Oh, so we got Peacock NBC tonight, ABC tomorrow, Peacock
- 14:25Speaker 2: NBC on Sunday and then Monday the Eastern Conference Finals.
- 14:29Speaker 2: On Memorial Day is in Cleveland for Game three, and
- 14:33Speaker 2: that's on ESPN. Oh thanks, I'm looking through here. And
- 14:36Speaker 2: everything else is on regular cable and or streaming network
- 14:41Speaker 2: ESPN and ABC and NBC. That's it for the rest
- 14:45Speaker 2: of the continent. So no YouTube, Prime for service. I
- 14:50Speaker 2: don't know what else they put it on, but no,
- 14:52Speaker 2: none of that. So we're in at least terror somewhat
- 14:55Speaker 2: terrestrial television for the rest of the NBA, the NHL.
- 14:59Speaker 2: I'll go to excellent right now. And really I appreciate
- 15:03Speaker 2: this from the five eighty five Western New York people.
- 15:05Speaker 2: I told you Ork just fantastic. Hey, Grey, active duty
- 15:07Speaker 2: Army here, thanks for your support. Of course, active duty Army,
- 15:11Speaker 2: appreciate you for what you do for our country, all
- 15:13Speaker 2: of you service members, men and women. Did you watch
- 15:16Speaker 2: Game seven of the Sabers series. I was watching the
- 15:18Speaker 2: end of it in our vacation house in Connecticut. It
- 15:22Speaker 2: was like eleven o'clock back there that night. That's another thing, man,
- 15:25Speaker 2: you go back to the East coast. Christian reminded that
- 15:27Speaker 2: we got we're spoiled out here. Yeah, Greg's probably like,
- 15:30Speaker 2: oh it's one am. That's fun exactly. America's games ended
- 15:33Speaker 2: at about one am. But I did catch the overtime
- 15:38Speaker 2: on my phone as we were sitting there hosting a party,
- 15:41Speaker 2: a graduation party, the Savers and the Canadians. And yes, that,
- 15:45Speaker 2: as the five eighty five is saying on the text line,
- 15:48Speaker 2: classic Buffalo sports and overtime, so disappointing. Yes, that was
- 15:52Speaker 2: a crushing loss for Western New York and the great
- 15:55Speaker 2: people that would have been waiting decades for the Savers
- 15:57Speaker 2: to be relevant, and here they are, the top seed,
- 16:00Speaker 2: one of the top seeds in the conference, a one
- 16:03Speaker 2: hundred plus point regular season fill in the arena of
- 16:07Speaker 2: the Barn down there downtown Buffalo, and they lose in
- 16:11Speaker 2: Game seven at home to upstart Montreal team who now
- 16:15Speaker 2: has up won nothing in the Carolina Hurricane Series for
- 16:18Speaker 2: the Eastern Conference Finals. As a flip side of that,
- 16:20Speaker 2: it's been thirty three years since a Canadian team has
- 16:25Speaker 2: won the Stanley Cup, and Montreal is close. I mean
- 16:29Speaker 2: they are three wins away from the Cup final. Edmonton's
- 16:32Speaker 2: failed to do it the last two years. I've mentioned
- 16:35Speaker 2: this a thousand times. I'll mention it again. If you
- 16:37Speaker 2: want to watch postseason sports at its best, watch the
- 16:42Speaker 2: Stanley Cup playoffs on Sportsnet CBC. If you're living in
- 16:45Speaker 2: Seattle and you're paying five hundred dollars a month for
- 16:47Speaker 2: cable anyway, you might as well use the channel ninety
- 16:50Speaker 2: nine on your cable streaming from Infinity and check out
- 16:54Speaker 2: cbut CBC out of Vancouver and watch it there. Don't
- 16:57Speaker 2: watch it on ESPN, don't watch it on TNT, watch
- 16:59Speaker 2: it CBC. Especially when a Canadian team is involved this
- 17:03Speaker 2: deep in the playoffs. It is a treat. The intensity.
- 17:06Speaker 2: They have the mics on the rink, on the benches,
- 17:09Speaker 2: you can hear line change calls, you can hear the
- 17:12Speaker 2: coaches instructions of the player, you can hear the hits
- 17:14Speaker 2: in the glass. The audio alone Chris is amazing on
- 17:17Speaker 2: CBC sports Net and the intensity in the building, it's
- 17:21Speaker 2: almost like the US channels, the US networks TNT and
- 17:26Speaker 2: ESPN are muting the crowd noise compared to when you
- 17:29Speaker 2: watch it on Sportsnet CBC. The intensity comes through your
- 17:33Speaker 2: television and just grabs you. It's an amazing viewing experience
- 17:37Speaker 2: for a sporting event. To watch the Stanley Cup playoffs
- 17:40Speaker 2: on CBC and Sportsnet Game two of that series in
- 17:43Speaker 2: the Eastern Conference and tomorrow night Montreal at Carolina Game
- 17:49Speaker 2: two tonight in the West is Colorado hosting Las Vegas
- 17:53Speaker 2: and that'll be on CBC and Sportsnet as well. So
- 17:58Speaker 2: this is a great It is a really I know
- 18:01Speaker 2: you're an NBA guy, but this is a really cool
- 18:02Speaker 2: time of the year when these two sports converge like
- 18:05Speaker 2: this with conference finals going on at the same time.
- 18:07Speaker 2: It's really cool. Absolutely, you get different perspectives.
- 18:10Speaker 1: You get to hear the energy, as you mentioned, but
- 18:12Speaker 1: in the stadium and how crazy it gets. So yeah,
- 18:14Speaker 1: it's it's a fun time. The sun's out, so it's
- 18:17Speaker 1: tough to be indoors watching these things, but you do
- 18:20Speaker 1: it for a little bit because you enjoy it. So yeah,
- 18:22Speaker 1: it's a it's a good opportunity. It sucks at the
- 18:24Speaker 1: crackingron in it, though. It'd be nice to get them back.
- 18:26Speaker 1: So hopefully this time would be so off the hook
- 18:29Speaker 1: for the right like maybe next year, you know, assuming
- 18:32Speaker 1: this off season takes off like a rocket ship and
- 18:35Speaker 1: they take care of business. This audit if it works,
- 18:37Speaker 1: oh boy, Yeah, that that that has heavy fan excited.
- 18:40Speaker 2: Yeah, they're auditing what they're doing.
- 18:42Speaker 1: That that that can't be good, right, guys, Like usually
- 18:45Speaker 1: when an audit comes in, that's not because things are
- 18:46Speaker 1: going well.
- 18:47Speaker 2: Here's here's our season ticket planning for the off too,
- 18:50Speaker 2: the first we're gonna audit everything we do. Right, Alarm,
- 18:53Speaker 2: red alarm. But they did keep Lane Lambert as coach. Yes,
- 18:56Speaker 2: sounds like everything else is changing, including the new general
- 18:58Speaker 2: manager coming in. But yeah, I mean the new general
- 19:05Speaker 2: manage in the sense that he's got all the authority
- 19:06Speaker 2: now that Ron Francis is gone, I get it. But yeah,
- 19:09Speaker 2: to Chris's point, this town would be off the hook
- 19:11Speaker 2: if we had May hockey going on in Memorial Day
- 19:14Speaker 2: weekend conference finals. I mean, that's we've seen when the
- 19:18Speaker 2: Sonics did that, and what this city is like, it's
- 19:21Speaker 2: it's just incredible and as Chris said, hopefully soon for
- 19:24Speaker 2: the first five years of cracking not making the playoffs,
- 19:26Speaker 2: and that's why they're doing what they're doing this offseason.
- 19:29Speaker 2: Up next, you're part of the show four nine four

- 19:57Speaker 2: The Great Belt Show with Christopher Kidd on a Friday
- 19:59Speaker 2: Memorial weekend. We've covered a lot of ground today, from
- 20:03Speaker 2: the Coast Guard Academy to the Mariners and piggybacking starters
- 20:07Speaker 2: and JP Crawford selflessness with a purpose moving to third base,
- 20:11Speaker 2: and what the hell of the Rams doing drafting a
- 20:15Speaker 2: quarterback at thirteenth oir' wrong? Then giving a thirty eight
- 20:17Speaker 2: year old a back issue with fifty five million dollars
- 20:20Speaker 2: extension through twenty to twenty seven the enhanced games. We
- 20:24Speaker 2: were all over the place today in the NBA playoffs.
- 20:27Speaker 2: Chris talk about that last segment at length fourtnit four
- 20:30Speaker 2: to five one's coming out to text sign. You know
- 20:32Speaker 2: what time it is. The music is boogie Nights on
- 20:34Speaker 2: the radio or our text line, and so far we
- 20:36Speaker 2: have not found out how to put boogie Knights on
- 20:38Speaker 2: the radio. So we're back to the text line.
- 20:42Speaker 1: All right?
- 20:42Speaker 2: Where to start here? We go.
- 20:46Speaker 1: From the four two five calls on Friday, I bet
- 20:53Speaker 1: over under for drunk callers is sixty six percent. Good
- 20:56Speaker 1: luck you brave souls. Shout out to Keith. There they were,
- 20:59Speaker 1: so they didn't call We never did? That is true? Hey, Greg?
- 21:05Speaker 1: From the five eight to five that you read this one, yeah,
- 21:08Speaker 1: okay with the from Keith again, when the Seahawks start
- 21:11Speaker 1: kicking first round picks is when they started, Oh.
- 21:14Speaker 2: I just lost it. Shout out to me doing the
- 21:16Speaker 2: old Greg Bill fashion. Way. Here it is.
- 21:19Speaker 1: They started the descent to mediocrity. Mediocrity, excuse me. Let's
- 21:23Speaker 1: hope the rams are following that pattern.
- 21:29Speaker 2: Fortune five says, kid, get there early tomorrow. Poo poo point.
- 21:32Speaker 2: You picked likely the most busy day to hike that trail.
- 21:36Speaker 2: It's going to be tough parking. Just saying it's one
- 21:38Speaker 2: of the best hikes in the area. Though I'm in
- 21:40Speaker 2: Atlanta now, so miss that spot. Great spot for picks
- 21:43Speaker 2: when you get up there. By the way, there was
- 21:45Speaker 2: a northwest side. In the southeast side a little bit longer,
- 21:48Speaker 2: fifteen minutes longer. Try to do both. I've done both.
- 21:50Speaker 2: The southeast side is a better view. I think I
- 21:53Speaker 2: can't remember which is the longer side, but yeah, I
- 21:55Speaker 2: don't either.
- 21:56Speaker 1: I went up there once with a wife, but sounds
- 21:59Speaker 1: like we might be screwed. My friend decided to make
- 22:02Speaker 1: plans after I had what so scout off, I'm not
- 22:06Speaker 1: I'm I'm gonna have to life up there. Well, she's working,
- 22:10Speaker 1: but the so I want I personally was gonna do
- 22:13Speaker 1: flag football at eight am and then go on a hike.
- 22:16Speaker 1: We're not gonna have your achilles is better. Oh, I
- 22:18Speaker 1: haven't had that in a while. It's been great, it's
- 22:20Speaker 1: been been fine.
- 22:22Speaker 2: So I told him.
- 22:23Speaker 1: I was like, hey, the best case scenario, we go
- 22:25Speaker 1: at eight am, worst case one pm.
- 22:27Speaker 2: Everybody was okay with that.
- 22:28Speaker 1: So Greg, when you hear that, would you think if
- 22:32Speaker 1: they have football, Okay, I'm gonna make plans for my
- 22:34Speaker 1: eight am morning or would you just leave it open
- 22:37Speaker 1: just in case Chris has football. You can do it
- 22:39Speaker 1: at one No football, you can still do it at
- 22:41Speaker 1: eight am. Who would you do beat?
- 22:44Speaker 2: Okay?
- 22:44Speaker 1: So my friend decides to make plans. So I text
- 22:47Speaker 1: today like, hey, everybody, are we all good for eight
- 22:50Speaker 1: am tomorrow? Or already made plans? And in my head,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I'm like, I told you.
- 22:55Speaker 2: That's a busy homie that's got plans at eight am
- 22:57Speaker 2: on a holiday weekend.
- 22:58Speaker 1: But I already told him what my plan was to do.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Because I'm being selfish. I told him I want to
- 23:02Speaker 1: do this, but if we can't, here's what we'll do.
- 23:05Speaker 1: And everybody was okay with it. And now he made
- 23:07Speaker 1: plans and eight AM's open. So I think I'm about
- 23:10Speaker 1: to be like, well, I guess you're not coming because
- 23:12Speaker 1: I don't know why you make plans.
- 23:13Speaker 2: But anyway, let's get back to the text. Uh here
- 23:16Speaker 2: we go.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Go to YouTube and look up the old SNL skip
- 23:19Speaker 1: of the Steroid Olympics.
- 23:20Speaker 2: I did that. It's nineteen eighty eight, Kevin Neeland. It
- 23:25Speaker 2: was in Bogata, Columbia. They said that steroids in every
- 23:29Speaker 2: steroids kwailud just gokay, everything you could possibly want to
- 23:32Speaker 2: take during a sporting competition was legal. And the last
- 23:36Speaker 2: studio audience in New York was laughing like, this is ridiculous,
- 23:39Speaker 2: and now it's now it's true. Now you could do it.
- 23:43Speaker 2: No steroid testing. Actually steroid use under the doctor's supervision
- 23:47Speaker 2: permitted in the Enhanced Games that starts Sunday in Las Vegas.
- 23:51Speaker 2: And it was nineteen eighty eight Saturday Night Live Skit
- 23:54Speaker 2: was thinking, O, this is preposterous, and now it's true
- 23:56Speaker 2: they're doing it, So thank you for the tip. I
- 23:59Speaker 2: went ahead and looked at.
- 24:00Speaker 1: From the two O six Amen Chris Amen on little
- 24:03Speaker 1: steroid Olympic facts. Congratulations, my buck guy brother and proud
- 24:07Speaker 1: pop Ya my buddy.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Hawaii Vacations in the future is living the dream. Go
- 24:12Speaker 1: cost Guard go Sihawks. Please pray for my Cleveland Browns.
- 24:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I appreciate my buck that man, that's good. Uh
- 24:19Speaker 2: you got one fourth Greg Yeah. This I don't know
- 24:22Speaker 2: because I wasn't listening, But the two five three said
- 24:24Speaker 2: the Mariners went so far as to even announcing Castillo
- 24:27Speaker 2: as in the starting lineup on the radio for that
- 24:30Speaker 2: piggyback game when he relieved Bryce Miller. It's about ninety
- 24:34Speaker 2: eight percent ego feelings related. That's interesting and and and
- 24:39Speaker 2: to the point, there's another text on here about Oh
- 24:42Speaker 2: it's actually I'll read it to three six three six.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Excuse me. So why are you against the way they
- 24:47Speaker 2: piggyback the starters. Do you think the manager did this
- 24:49Speaker 2: by something. No, we never said that it's just Dan
- 24:52Speaker 2: Wilson's idea. No, we never said that. That's not it's
- 24:55Speaker 2: Jerry de Poto and Justin Hollander and Jerry Depoto more
- 24:58Speaker 2: than Hollander. Yes, Jerry has approved this idea beforehand. I
- 25:02Speaker 2: think it's a great idea.
- 25:05Speaker 1: This is from the four two five. You are crazy
- 25:11Speaker 1: if you think seventeen percent is not a lot in
- 25:13Speaker 1: regards to SGA flopping, Well, I mean that's around the League. Yeah,
- 25:18Speaker 1: that could be a lot, but it also means on
- 25:21Speaker 1: eighty two percent of his other shots he's not falling.
- 25:24Speaker 1: That's that's pretty impressive. Seventeen is a big number, sure,
- 25:27Speaker 1: but there's two sides of it. I think so five
- 25:31Speaker 1: five of every six shots he doesn't fall, that's I
- 25:35Speaker 1: don't think that's crazy.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I think that's you know, good for him. Back to
- 25:38Speaker 2: my day, how many times did Michael Jordan flop his
- 25:40Speaker 2: entire career?
- 25:42Speaker 1: I don't know if he flopped. No, that's not no,
- 25:44Speaker 1: that wasn't flopping back in the day didn't exist.
- 25:46Speaker 2: I don't think exactly. I think, Hey, the Pistons Bull series,
- 25:50Speaker 2: the Knicks Bull series.
- 25:51Speaker 1: Yeah you got we got regular fund from Yeah, exactly,
- 25:55Speaker 1: just two shots Charles Oakley.
- 25:58Speaker 2: Those Nicks, the New York College Days Nicks. Yeah. It
- 26:02Speaker 2: was warfare. Yeah, and I use that term not very
- 26:06Speaker 2: we understand, Greg. I'm just saying it. In basketball a ways,
- 26:09Speaker 2: it was like gorilla O. Hey, you could just say
- 26:11Speaker 2: they were wrestling on the court. They were. They were.
- 26:13Speaker 2: It was crazy what they used to get away with.
- 26:15Speaker 2: And no one was flopping. They were. If they hit
- 26:17Speaker 2: the ground, it was because somebody just gave them a
- 26:19Speaker 2: WW but real w wrestling move, Yeah, it was. It
- 26:23Speaker 2: was compared to that. I guess you can't even compare
- 26:25Speaker 2: them both. Two o six congratulations Dad, thanks for sharing that,
- 26:30Speaker 2: and hats off to your daughter graduating from the Coast
- 26:32Speaker 2: Guard Academy making and shining on the crew on the
- 26:36Speaker 2: Crew team. I lived in Boston three one hundred thousand
- 26:40Speaker 2: on the Charles River. Yes, for the head of the
- 26:42Speaker 2: Charles it's amazing lifetime thrill. The Boys in the Boat
- 26:45Speaker 2: unforgettable Book of Grit, Yes it is. This is someone
- 26:49Speaker 2: writing who went to Roosevelt High School with Joe Rantz
- 26:53Speaker 2: of course the central figure, and then Boys in the
- 26:55Speaker 2: Boat novel and the movie after Gritten for the book
- 27:01Speaker 2: and sang in the glee club had the high school
- 27:04Speaker 2: and you to prove it had to share. Yeah, thank
- 27:07Speaker 2: you appreciated. Stand from the two o six.
- 27:10Speaker 1: From the two six district meets this weekend and there's
- 27:14Speaker 1: a young freshman from Olympia that is tearing it up
- 27:16Speaker 1: in the mile and the two guys got I want
- 27:19Speaker 1: to check that out. Okay, that is right state starting
- 27:22Speaker 1: next weekend, so yeah, I'll have to take a peek
- 27:25Speaker 1: and see what's going on with Track and Field.
- 27:27Speaker 2: I asked what your great greatest graduation moments are to
- 27:30Speaker 2: share him with us four to two five says our
- 27:32Speaker 2: greatest graduation moment. My daughter is graduating high school this
- 27:36Speaker 2: year thanks from USCG. That's Coast Guard, oh Day listener,
- 27:41Speaker 2: and graduations to her and to you and your family.
- 27:44Speaker 2: My best grad story is my ex husband, I and
- 27:47Speaker 2: our news spouse all sat together at our son's graduation,
- 27:52Speaker 2: showing that we put him above any bad feelings. Do
- 27:55Speaker 2: it's best for your kids always. Thank you for the
- 27:58Speaker 2: two oh six. Marcus loved both stepdaughters equally, but the
- 28:02Speaker 2: one I like most graduates high school next month, and
- 28:05Speaker 2: I'm already proud, sad, and happy.
- 28:08Speaker 1: I love how he had to start it, but love
- 28:09Speaker 1: both step daughters equally, but the one that I liked
- 28:12Speaker 1: the most.
- 28:13Speaker 2: That's funny. Shout out to Marcus. S Out out to
- 28:15Speaker 2: Marcus in front of the show and probably my favorite
- 28:18Speaker 2: Texas day from again the two o six, Greg, does
- 28:20Speaker 2: this mean you have to salute your daughter? Yes? It does.
- 28:24Speaker 2: She's active duty ends and I'm a washed up retired
- 28:28Speaker 2: veteran Army captain thirty years out of the service. I
- 28:31Speaker 2: damn well, going to salute her. Yeah, Apre Sorr.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Right, Greg, you got thirty seconds to amsters before we
- 28:36Speaker 1: throw to the Mayor. All right, what were your favorite
- 28:38Speaker 1: teams growing up Eric and Kitsap County.
- 28:40Speaker 2: All Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers won the World Series in
- 28:43Speaker 2: the Super Bowl in the same year, nineteen seventy nine.
- 28:45Speaker 2: One for the thumb is what the term was for
- 28:47Speaker 2: the Steelers trying to win a fifth Super Bowl. Penguins
- 28:50Speaker 2: when they were back in blue and white uniforms. They
- 28:53Speaker 2: didn't have an NBA team, So my NBA team in
- 28:56Speaker 2: Pittsburgh they didn't. So my NBA team were the Cleveland
- 28:58Speaker 2: Cavaliers who played about an hour and half up the
- 29:00Speaker 2: road in the Richfield Coliseum and we're awful, but they
- 29:02Speaker 2: had world b Free You ever heard of him? Lloyd
- 29:04Speaker 2: Free absolutely one of the best point guards to do it.
- 29:07Speaker 2: You talk about gunning that guy shot you shoot fifty
- 29:10Speaker 2: times a night? Yeah, that was Those are my favorite teams.
- 29:13Speaker 2: They in Ohio State Buckeyes because I was born and
- 29:15Speaker 2: raised in eastern Ohio. Those are my favorite teams. The Mayor,
- 29:20Speaker 2: Maple Valley and for Nest standing outside my door. He
- 29:23Speaker 2: will be up next. To ninety three point three kJ RFM,
- 29:32Speaker 2: Welcome back to Greg Best Show with Christopher Ken on
- 29:34Speaker 2: a Friday Memorial Day weekend. Also in on a Friday
- 29:37Speaker 2: Memorial Day weekend, the veteran.
- 29:39Speaker 3: Didn't want to be I'm here. I'm only here for
- 29:42Speaker 3: two hours a day though. Oh we have a gong
- 29:44Speaker 3: show coming up in a second, so at two o'clock. Yeah,
- 29:47Speaker 3: I'll explain out in the second. But I guys say,
- 29:49Speaker 3: I was listening and driving in. Congrats, thank you, congratulations,
- 29:53Speaker 3: thank you. It was great, Thank you. This sounds awesome.
- 29:56Speaker 3: You know what resonated with me, And I think for
- 29:59Speaker 3: a lot of people who are parents out there, a
- 30:01Speaker 3: lot of people can relate to something. And also a
- 30:04Speaker 3: lot of people this is probably a heads up and
- 30:07Speaker 3: something you can that you want to be aware of.
- 30:11Speaker 3: Because you talked about her wanting to drop out. Yeah, okay,
- 30:15Speaker 3: And and I thought back to my own experiences with that.
- 30:21Speaker 3: You know, as all these kids around our area graduating
- 30:23Speaker 3: over the next few weeks from high school and a
- 30:25Speaker 3: lot of them are going to go on to post
- 30:27Speaker 3: secondary educations and whatever it might be.
- 30:30Speaker 2: And I thought about it.
- 30:31Speaker 3: I'm like, you know, if you're an athlete, you're always
- 30:34Speaker 3: used to being the best. Like both your son and
- 30:37Speaker 3: daughter were really good soccer players, and all of a
- 30:39Speaker 3: sudden you get cut from a team, you know, or
- 30:42Speaker 3: it's not what you expected to be in your son's case,
- 30:44Speaker 3: right at the next level, because you're used to being
- 30:47Speaker 3: the star, not a star, but just elite player. Right,
- 30:51Speaker 3: you're one of the dudes, and that's that's always a hit.
- 30:55Speaker 3: Or you just go your son or daughter is just
- 30:57Speaker 3: going to go to college and then for the first
- 30:59Speaker 3: time they're not doing something extracurricular, they're just going to school.
- 31:02Speaker 3: That's a weird transition. But when you said she thought
- 31:05Speaker 3: about dropping out a couple of times, I would caution
- 31:09Speaker 3: parents or just my experience, and you know, I know.
- 31:13Speaker 2: We're a sports show, but what the hell that happens.
- 31:17Speaker 3: That's normal, Like both my kids went through stuff. You
- 31:21Speaker 3: helped my son get through stuff because he had two
- 31:23Speaker 3: things going athletically. Thought he should be somewhere else. Maybe
- 31:28Speaker 3: would have been, but he was a year and a
- 31:29Speaker 3: half from being diagnosed after being diagnosed with type one diabetes,
- 31:32Speaker 3: and he also didn't have a senior year because of COVID.
- 31:35Speaker 3: You you ended up where you needed to be and
- 31:37Speaker 3: where you should be. But when you're not starting in
- 31:40Speaker 3: a star right away, do I need to do this?
- 31:44Speaker 3: Just be do I just want to be a student,
- 31:46Speaker 3: And then the student part of it, there's a transition like, oh, whoa,
- 31:51Speaker 3: this is different, like especially if you're going to a
- 31:54Speaker 3: good school, which honestly, I don't really think there's too
- 31:57Speaker 3: many bad colleges out there, universities I could be wrong.
- 32:00Speaker 3: Is going to correct me? And I don't give a ratch.
- 32:02Speaker 3: You know what about US News and World Reports rankings,
- 32:05Speaker 3: there's professors, you've worked in the schools, you know, if
- 32:08Speaker 3: you're in a post secondary educate, you know, a four
- 32:10Speaker 3: year school, it's there's there's some pretty redeeming quality. It's
- 32:12Speaker 3: about said place. But it's hard, you know. And I
- 32:16Speaker 3: know my own son he twice after football games. I
- 32:20Speaker 3: don't know if I need to do this. I should
- 32:21Speaker 3: be playing blah blah blah blah blah. And like, dude,
- 32:24Speaker 3: you can quit. Is that what you are?
- 32:26Speaker 2: Like? Seriously, you can. You do what you want to do.
- 32:30Speaker 3: And well, by the way, you'll get a job because
- 32:34Speaker 3: you're not You're not just going to go to college
- 32:35Speaker 3: and party. You're going to get a job as well
- 32:38Speaker 3: and then you know, but you stick it out. Just
- 32:39Speaker 3: like your daughter, she found something else. Took my kid
- 32:42Speaker 3: two years, ended up having memories for a lifetime. And
- 32:45Speaker 3: and I would end school academically. You know, I've talked
- 32:48Speaker 3: about this before. Greg my son ended graduate with pretty
- 32:51Speaker 3: high honors from a really good school. English was not
- 32:54Speaker 3: his forte at least he didn't think it was. He's
- 32:56Speaker 3: actually a good writer, but he didn't like it. And
- 33:00Speaker 3: one of his first classes, he's just like called me
- 33:02Speaker 3: one day and he's just like, oh blah blah.
- 33:05Speaker 2: Blah all this.
- 33:05Speaker 3: And I put him in touch with you. You walked
- 33:07Speaker 3: him through some stuff, helped him to this day. He's thankful.
- 33:10Speaker 3: And I would just say for all the parents out there,
- 33:13Speaker 3: like as your kids get ready to go to college,
- 33:15Speaker 3: understand freshman year it's not fun. Like there's a lot
- 33:19Speaker 3: of stuff going on. Another thing, and if it is
- 33:21Speaker 3: really too much fun, then I'd be like saying, what's wow.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Yeah, Well, here's another thing we notice as parents now
- 33:28Speaker 2: today in this particular world. The Instagram that snapchat, yeah tactic,
- 33:34Speaker 2: snap Graham every kid. So they're high school kids, they're
- 33:39Speaker 2: the best friends, and then they split off and go
- 33:40Speaker 2: to UCLA or Loyola or Washington State or U dub
- 33:44Speaker 2: or Western or whatever. Right, so they're separated for the
- 33:47Speaker 2: first time, but they stay in touch through social media. Yeah, well,
- 33:49Speaker 2: every one of the high school classmate best friend peoples
- 33:52Speaker 2: are posting their greatest moments of each of their weeks
- 33:55Speaker 2: at those schools. Yeah, they're not posting being at the
- 33:58Speaker 2: library at twelve thirty in the morning, No, or doing
- 34:00Speaker 2: the laundry at five am.
- 34:02Speaker 3: Or they are posting the first time in their life
- 34:04Speaker 3: doing laundry, posting the highlights.
- 34:08Speaker 2: So all of the kids seeing those things, Wow, Janie
- 34:13Speaker 2: Ah is having a blast. Why am I struggling? Why
- 34:15Speaker 2: am I hating college when Janie's just love it? Well,
- 34:18Speaker 2: they don't see the Janey's in the library to keep
- 34:20Speaker 2: her grades up to she can stay there, and that
- 34:23Speaker 2: she's studying and cramming for four Nobody posts instagrams of that. No, no,
- 34:27Speaker 2: So all these kids have this inflated senses of each
- 34:31Speaker 2: other having a great time. Only yeah, at colleges, when
- 34:34Speaker 2: they're grinding like everybody.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Else, it's and the challenges are real. It doesn't matter
- 34:38Speaker 3: if it's athletically, academically, socially, especially socially all those things.
- 34:42Speaker 3: I just yeah, I you know, listen, neither one of
- 34:46Speaker 3: us have PhDs, but we've all we've both been through
- 34:48Speaker 3: it with you know, a total four kids that in
- 34:51Speaker 3: the last three or four, you know, have all graduated
- 34:53Speaker 3: and successfully. But it's it resonated with me to driving
- 34:57Speaker 3: in when I heard about Sarah struggles and I knew Eric,
- 34:59Speaker 3: you know, he made a change of schools and ended
- 35:02Speaker 3: up in God's Country where he should have been from
- 35:04Speaker 3: the first, from the start, but in Pullman. But that's
- 35:07Speaker 3: just the way it is. And it's yeah, I always
- 35:11Speaker 3: thought got high school's a struggle. No, then college is struggle.
- 35:13Speaker 3: Then you know what real life to struggle afterwards, Well.
- 35:17Speaker 2: Now you're entering a different realm of parenting.
- 35:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's it's just so different. But then
- 35:22Speaker 3: you get to see your kids as young adults and
- 35:24Speaker 3: it's the greatest it's the greatest thing ever because the
- 35:27Speaker 3: older they get, the closer. Sometimes you get in a
- 35:29Speaker 3: different level of a relationship. But I'm so happy for
- 35:31Speaker 3: you and your family and h and I always say, like,
- 35:34Speaker 3: you know, what you did for Keith is is something
- 35:35Speaker 3: we're always gonna be grateful for. It you know, he
- 35:37Speaker 3: was writing something the other day for a job interview
- 35:39Speaker 3: and he's just like, I don't write. I go, Do
- 35:40Speaker 3: you want me to have to call Greg again? No,
- 35:45Speaker 3: he's like, I just can't write.
- 35:46Speaker 2: Ago. That's not what I hear, dude. I think you're
- 35:47Speaker 2: a decent writer. But when I handed my daughter the
- 35:50Speaker 2: commissioning certificate next to the Admiral of the Coast Guard
- 35:53Speaker 2: on Wednesday afternoon in New London, Connecticut, and when she
- 35:57Speaker 2: hugged me on the stage and she said thanks, Dad said,
- 36:00Speaker 2: thanks for not letting me quit. Yeah, that's it. That's
- 36:04Speaker 2: why your parent, that's why. Yes, that's why you have kids.
- 36:08Speaker 2: That's what.
- 36:08Speaker 3: It's a sense of accomplishment, not just for them, but
- 36:11Speaker 3: for you as well as a parent. And you know,
- 36:15Speaker 3: like I said, it doesn't matter what school you go to.
- 36:17Speaker 3: You know, whether it's a military academy, which is a
- 36:20Speaker 3: different level of stress and things, whether it's just just
- 36:23Speaker 3: four your college wherever, you know, for your college A
- 36:26Speaker 3: or Big four your college B.
- 36:28Speaker 2: There are struggles, of course. And I always tell my
- 36:31Speaker 2: kids new and when you feel uncomfortable, that's when you grow. Yeah,
- 36:35Speaker 2: if you feel comfortable, you're not growing.
- 36:37Speaker 3: Yeah, Well, and I think, you know, like my thing
- 36:41Speaker 3: always was like finished the first year, right, because I
- 36:44Speaker 3: see too. I saw too many kids, especially when daughters
- 36:46Speaker 3: in the situation wise, it was you know, there's the
- 36:49Speaker 3: pressure there. And I bet you dub has the same thing.
- 36:51Speaker 3: I'm guessing they do, you know, especially for girls you
- 36:54Speaker 3: get there, Oh god, I gotta go through rush. Gotta
- 36:56Speaker 3: be in a sorority. Am I in the right sorority?
- 36:58Speaker 3: Is it going to work? All the stress? And so
- 37:00Speaker 3: we went through all that stuff, and I'm sure a
- 37:01Speaker 3: lot of parents are gonna do the same thing. So
- 37:04Speaker 3: just hanging their parents hanging there. It's it's never easy.
- 37:08Speaker 3: It's never easy. You got eighteen years, but you're okay,
- 37:11Speaker 3: you're eighteen years away. You're eighteen years a set of
- 37:14Speaker 3: worries right now. But yeah, yeah, you do, Yeah you do.
- 37:16Speaker 3: You got to listen, trust me. There's all there's always worries.
- 37:20Speaker 3: They're just different. Sometimes they're in diapers and sometimes they're not.
- 37:24Speaker 3: It's just it's it's that's always so yeah, yeah, yeah, gong.
- 37:28Speaker 2: Show at two o'clock. So I lost.
- 37:30Speaker 3: Not only I lose, I finished dead last in my
- 37:32Speaker 3: longtime fantasy football league with a bunch of really close friends,
- 37:35Speaker 3: my neighbors, the Rock Creek Homies League, so we we've
- 37:39Speaker 3: I've I've had great success over the years, finishing the
- 37:42Speaker 3: money most of the time won it, even the one
- 37:46Speaker 3: year I didn't. I think there's only one year in
- 37:48Speaker 3: the last ten I haven't made the playoffs. And I
- 37:49Speaker 3: finished number one of the Consolation Bowl on the Dookie
- 37:51Speaker 3: Bowl trophy, which is a toilet kept that in our
- 37:54Speaker 3: house for a year, a little toilet trophy.
- 37:55Speaker 2: My wife wife appreciate that, not at all.
- 37:58Speaker 3: But this year I somehow fits dead last, and there's
- 38:02Speaker 3: various punishments. These guys are going to come in and
- 38:05Speaker 3: they're doing my show at two o'clock today in here. Yes, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 38:13Speaker 2: Andrews out to be something to orchestrate. Thankfully, Jess is
- 38:18Speaker 2: taking charge of all that.
- 38:20Speaker 3: When I told you, when I told Purple Sheet rich More,
- 38:24Speaker 3: after he rolled his eyes did about seven Kevin shocky
- 38:27Speaker 3: heavy size, really really yes, Rich really, He's like, long pause,
- 38:37Speaker 3: all right, just tell Jess she's in charge. And I said, perfect, thanks,
- 38:42Speaker 3: walked out Jess, And what what am I in charge of?
- 38:45Speaker 3: She's had more phone calls and meetings with them than
- 38:49Speaker 3: she does with me in a month, which probably says
- 38:52Speaker 3: something about my extensive preparation for each individual show.
- 38:56Speaker 2: Let's start. Shut up, I see you laughing in there.
- 38:58Speaker 2: Stop it. Two o'clock.
- 39:00Speaker 3: You want to hear how sports radio should be sounding
- 39:03Speaker 3: these days. Two o'clock today, I walk away, guys in
- 39:06Speaker 3: the bar, guys here, Well, I'll be somewhere around. I
- 39:10Speaker 3: got to make sure it doesn't go completely off the rails.
- 39:13Speaker 2: That dumb button work, Chris, Is it still working?
- 39:16Speaker 3: I hope so, because the one in here is not,
- 39:17Speaker 3: so they would not have used it anyway. Andrews is
- 39:21Speaker 3: on the dumb button today here on dump button duty.
- 39:23Speaker 2: Buddy, great, Yeah, yeah, I don't have enough dumps to
- 39:26Speaker 2: worry about.
- 39:26Speaker 3: No, nope, this is easier to clean up. That's easier
- 39:28Speaker 3: to clean up than the diaper you got later on today.
- 39:31Speaker 3: So we got that coming up. And then Daniel Yilt
- 39:32Speaker 3: one o'clock.
- 39:33Speaker 2: Oh yeah, dang Aposta for you o'clock. Yeah, Danny, sorry,
- 39:38Speaker 2: Well you have just made it that we all have
- 39:40Speaker 2: to listen to two. It's Destination Radio that's coming up next.
- 39:45Speaker 2: It's great to be back. Thanks a lot, Greg Bell
- 39:48Speaker 2: News tribute Christopher Kids, thank you for listening. What is back?
- 39:51Speaker 2: What Tuesday? I won't be here. I've got a birthday
- 39:55Speaker 2: celebration with my daughter. But uh well, I think Mike Betton.
- 39:58Speaker 2: I'm not sure who's coming in. Mike Chris is shaking
- 40:00Speaker 2: his head. Mike Ben will join you on Tuesday. I'll
- 40:02Speaker 2: be back Wednesday from Seahawks. I think it's from Seahawks
- 40:05Speaker 2: and OTAs Now no Tuesdays. Mike Ben will be with
- 40:10Speaker 2: Ian at Seahawks on Tuesday. I have a great Memorial
- 40:13Speaker 2: Day weekend. Thanks for listening. On ninety three point three
