Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: The sun is shining, not a cloud in the sky.
- 0:05Speaker 1: We wouldn't know because we're so happy inside. Some people
- 0:10Speaker 1: row a boat or put on some skis. But we
- 0:14Speaker 1: would rather sit on down and talk some movies.
- 0:17Speaker 2: We're the avid endorsement.
- 0:20Speaker 1: Come listen to our show. We're the Avid Indoorsmen. At
- 0:25Speaker 1: home or on the go, we're the Avid Indoorsmen.
- 0:29Speaker 2: We hope you love it so.
- 0:31Speaker 3: So come on in and stay a while.
- 0:33Speaker 2: We'll do our best to make you smile.
- 0:35Speaker 1: We're the Avid Indoorsmen.
- 0:40Speaker 4: What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquist. And I'm Bukes. And
- 0:44Speaker 4: we are the Avid Endorsmen.
- 0:46Speaker 3: Oh, hi, everybody.
- 0:47Speaker 4: Hello, hello. How are you, buddy?
- 0:50Speaker 5: Oh, my God.
- 0:50Speaker 3: I'm so good.
- 0:52Speaker 5: You are so good. Yeah, I don't know.
- 0:55Speaker 3: I'm great.
- 0:55Speaker 5: How are you? I'm doing really well. Thank you for asking.
- 0:58Speaker 5: I love it.
- 1:00Speaker 4: Just got back from a little run.
- 1:02Speaker 3: Yeah, an interesting one from what it sounded like, huh?
- 1:06Speaker 5: Yeah, home free. We were out and about.
- 1:09Speaker 3: Out and about.
- 1:11Speaker 5: Well, I mean, first, we were out in Oregon. They'll
- 1:13Speaker 5: get this at some point. The Oregon getaway. That was
- 1:16Speaker 5: so much fun. That'll be next week. That'll be next week.
- 1:20Speaker 3: I got the audio yesterday, and so I can edit
- 1:23Speaker 3: it for next week. No problem.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Love it.
- 1:25Speaker 3: It sounds lush. Lash.
- 1:27Speaker 4: We love that.
- 1:29Speaker 5: And then I had a couple of days at home
- 1:31Speaker 5: and then we had a five show run.
- 1:33Speaker 4: I was like, sweet, little five show run.
- 1:35Speaker 5: Bing, bang, boom. This will be easy. Come on home. Sweet.
- 1:39Speaker 5: And it was the toughest five show run.
- 1:42Speaker 3: So full disclosure, we haven't talked about this at all
- 1:45Speaker 3: because I just haven't connected with you. So this is
- 1:48Speaker 3: we're all learning together. Fun.
- 1:50Speaker 5: Yeah. So the the first night we were in Newberry,
- 1:54Speaker 5: South Carolina. which we'd never been to before. And apparently
- 2:00Speaker 5: we went through some mountains. And so all of us
- 2:03Speaker 5: slept for not great that night. So we're starting off.
- 2:08Speaker 4: I'm not the best.
- 2:08Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:10Speaker 4: Um, and so, uh, we did that. That show was fun.
- 2:14Speaker 4: Had never been there.
- 2:14Speaker 5: That was neat. Then we went to Lancaster. Lancaster is
- 2:17Speaker 5: always a good time.
- 2:18Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:19Speaker 5: Um, and, uh, had hung out with our bus driver,
- 2:22Speaker 5: had some breakfast with them. Nice guy. His name is Lafayette,
- 2:25Speaker 5: which I loved that. That's great. Nice guy.
- 2:27Speaker 3: Great name.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Um, and it slept much better that night, which was
- 2:31Speaker 5: so nice. Um, we did the show. It was fun.
- 2:35Speaker 5: And then, uh, our runner went to go and pick
- 2:39Speaker 5: up the bus driver from the hotel to bring him
- 2:41Speaker 5: to the bus. So we could then make the kind
- 2:44Speaker 5: of a long track to, uh, Verona, New York. And, um,
- 2:51Speaker 5: couldn't get ahold of him. And, uh, Abe was like, okay,
- 2:55Speaker 5: I guess I'll just go there and like knock on
- 2:57Speaker 5: his door.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:58Speaker 3: Like not that weird, unless we know the story, then
- 3:00Speaker 3: it's like, right. Yeah, sure. Sure.
- 3:03Speaker 5: Wasn't answering his door. And then, um, the runner had said, well,
- 3:08Speaker 5: there was an ambulance out front.
- 3:10Speaker 3: Oh my.
- 3:11Speaker 5: And so he was like, okay. So he's like, talk
- 3:14Speaker 5: to the, the front desk clerk. Indeed. Our bus driver
- 3:18Speaker 5: went to the hospital.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:21Speaker 5: Um, Abe went to the hospital then to see how
- 3:23Speaker 5: he was doing. And he was in rough shape. Like
- 3:25Speaker 5: half of his face was kind of goofy. He was
- 3:28Speaker 5: talking to him, but he was just like, um, I
- 3:32Speaker 5: went and got some food as I was eating food.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I started feeling like something isn't right. Immediately called an ambulance.
- 3:40Speaker 3: Oh, good for him. Didn't like think, oh, I'm going
- 3:43Speaker 3: to go have a nap. You know, I feel like.
- 3:44Speaker 5: Right, right.
- 3:45Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Like you hear about that, right?
- 3:47Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Scary. And they were kind of like, it's a good
- 3:51Speaker 5: thing you came in because apparently it like there was
- 3:54Speaker 5: a bleed going on from his brain.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Like a strange kind of thing. OK, scary.
- 3:59Speaker 5: I don't know exactly what for sure.
- 4:01Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 4:02Speaker 5: But to the point where he was going to have
- 4:04Speaker 5: to have surgery. So it was like a big deal.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Wow.
- 4:08Speaker 5: Um, so yeah, super scary. Yeah. Um, thanks.
- 4:13Speaker 4: And hope that he's doing well.
- 4:14Speaker 5: Last we heard he was out and was okay, but like,
- 4:17Speaker 5: we don't know all the ins and outs. Of course.
- 4:20Speaker 3: I mean, also so lucky for everyone involved that it
- 4:23Speaker 3: didn't happen while he was driving. I mean, a hundred
- 4:25Speaker 3: percent for him too, obviously.
- 4:27Speaker 5: Right. Like, you know, every bit scary, but yeah. Yes.
- 4:31Speaker 3: You know, yeah.
- 4:32Speaker 5: I know.
- 4:32Speaker 4: So that was crazy.
- 4:33Speaker 5: Then the bus company brought a new bus driver. They
- 4:37Speaker 5: had to be woken up in the middle of the night. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 5: Got on the first flight, had to drive to Lancaster,
- 4:44Speaker 5: got there. We're ready to go. And the bus won't start.
- 4:49Speaker 5: And so at that point, like, great. And it's like
- 4:53Speaker 5: 10 a.m. And we're like, OK, we have like six hours.
- 4:55Speaker 5: So it's going to be tough.
- 4:57Speaker 3: And maybe we can do it.
- 4:59Speaker 5: Right. So they're working on it. They're working on it.
- 5:02Speaker 5: And then we're like, oh, this is not happening. So
- 5:05Speaker 5: then we all started going to different rental car places
- 5:10Speaker 5: to try and just we're just going to try and
- 5:12Speaker 5: get ourselves together. Yeah. Yeah. Sure. And out of all
- 5:16Speaker 5: of the Lancaster rental car places, we were able to
- 5:20Speaker 5: get one rental car that they were willing to do
- 5:22Speaker 5: like a one-way rental. Otherwise, they were completely out of cars.
- 5:26Speaker 5: I suppose, because that sucks for them, too. Sucks for them,
- 5:28Speaker 5: but they just didn't have any cars, dude.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 5:31Speaker 4: And so.
- 5:34Speaker 5: We just we tried everything.
- 5:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 5:36Speaker 5: And it just wasn't going to happen. So we had
- 5:38Speaker 5: to actually cancel the show in Verona, New York. I
- 5:40Speaker 5: saw that. That's a bummer. It was such a bummer.
- 5:43Speaker 5: We did end up getting to Uncasville, Connecticut. That's where
- 5:46Speaker 5: the next show was. OK, but we didn't get in
- 5:49Speaker 5: there until like midnight.
- 5:51Speaker 3: So how did you get there?
- 5:52Speaker 5: You had the bus fixed.
- 5:53Speaker 3: The bus did get fixed.
- 5:54Speaker 5: Got it.
- 5:55Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 5:56Speaker 5: It promptly then broke down again the Uncasville morning of
- 6:00Speaker 5: the show.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Beautiful.
- 6:01Speaker 5: Why wouldn't it?
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, great.
- 6:02Speaker 5: So we had to get a U-Haul to get all
- 6:04Speaker 5: the stuff out of the trailer for the Uncasville show.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Wow.
- 6:09Speaker 4: So just a nightmare, dude.
- 6:11Speaker 5: It was crazy. And just so much work for Frank
- 6:14Speaker 5: and everybody.
- 6:14Speaker 3: The crew had to work so hard.
- 6:19Speaker 5: The only silver lining was that those shows were awesome. Yeah,
- 6:22Speaker 5: that's great. We had a matinee in Concord that was
- 6:26Speaker 5: for sure our best matinee ever. We had so much fun. Amazing.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Matinees can be a mess, too.
- 6:31Speaker 5: That's great. Usually miss.
- 6:33Speaker 3: More miss than hit. Yeah, I am.
- 6:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 6:35Speaker 3: It's no one's fault. It's just harder to get, you know.
- 6:37Speaker 3: It's harder.
- 6:38Speaker 5: And after that crazy week, having the crew have to
- 6:43Speaker 5: go early and do a matinee is just like, it
- 6:46Speaker 5: was a brutal week.
- 6:48Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, that's a lot. And a lot of just like,
- 6:51Speaker 3: what is happening? We're going to go here right now.
- 6:54Speaker 3: And then it's like, no, hold that. That plan has changed. Yep.
- 6:58Speaker 5: And so I was then after the Concord show, I
- 7:00Speaker 5: was going to be on the bus and go all
- 7:02Speaker 5: the way to Cleveland to.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Fly home in the morning.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:05Speaker 5: Save money on hotels and. And we were all like,
- 7:09Speaker 5: I don't trust that bus.
- 7:10Speaker 3: Uh, we're not doing that.
- 7:11Speaker 5: We just, we just ended up getting rental cars and
- 7:14Speaker 5: going down to Boston and flying out the next morning.
- 7:16Speaker 5: And it cost way more, but of course we're just
- 7:19Speaker 5: like this. Everything is going wrong with.
- 7:21Speaker 3: The way everything is going. Maybe we just, uh, we
- 7:25Speaker 3: make this as easy on ourselves as we can. This part. Yeah,
- 7:28Speaker 3: for sure.
- 7:29Speaker 5: But bummer.
- 7:30Speaker 4: We got through them.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:31Speaker 5: Uh, hopefully, hopefully Lafayette is doing well.
- 7:33Speaker 4: Big, uh, prayers out to him.
- 7:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 7:36Speaker 5: And, um, yeah but we did it we did it
- 7:39Speaker 5: and we're back i.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Love it well welcome back i'm so glad you're here
- 7:43Speaker 3: how have you been i've been great uh we did
- 7:46Speaker 3: the oregon thing it was a ton of fun yeah
- 7:49Speaker 3: i tacked on some coast time on either end of
- 7:52Speaker 3: that and i.
- 7:53Speaker 5: Felt real good about that real yeah you did.
- 7:57Speaker 3: Had a great time the first night I went in
- 7:59Speaker 3: and saw our guy Neil in Portland and that.
- 8:02Speaker 5: Was super fun we love Neil he's doing his burger
- 8:05Speaker 5: week I'm seeing oh is he really oh no dude
- 8:08Speaker 5: you gotta check out his Instagram well not if you're
- 8:10Speaker 5: hungry he's one of the.
- 8:12Speaker 3: Few times I'll go on Instagram for sure cause he
- 8:14Speaker 3: goes crazy we went crazy too we went to three
- 8:17Speaker 3: different pizza places that night we had a super funny
- 8:20Speaker 3: conversation before where he was like what are you feeling
- 8:23Speaker 3: he was like you know There's so many places I
- 8:25Speaker 3: want to show you, but we can only have one
- 8:27Speaker 3: meal because you're only here for one night. And I
- 8:28Speaker 3: was like, I feel like there's a fault in this logic.
- 8:31Speaker 3: Number one.
- 8:31Speaker 5: Do you know me? And he was like, you're right.
- 8:34Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 8:34Speaker 5: Let's do this.
- 8:35Speaker 3: So we went to three different spots.
- 8:37Speaker 5: They were all great.
- 8:38Speaker 3: And then the most recent movie I watched, we watched
- 8:41Speaker 3: together with his lady friend, a little segue here.
- 8:44Speaker 5: Love this.
- 8:45Speaker 3: And we watched Dogma together.
- 8:48Speaker 5: Dogma dude it's been so long.
- 8:50Speaker 3: I know that's what we were actually going to watch
- 8:53Speaker 3: what were we going to watch it was gonna be
- 8:56Speaker 3: uh the wedding singer because we had referenced it a
- 8:58Speaker 3: couple times at.
- 8:59Speaker 5: Dinner another movie i haven't seen him.
- 9:00Speaker 3: For sammy's and we couldn't find that for free uh
- 9:04Speaker 3: neil has the dvd for dogma so we watched that
- 9:08Speaker 3: which i was amazing clutch buddy clutch uh so yeah
- 9:12Speaker 3: we watched dogma and that movie is so fun I
- 9:16Speaker 3: loved that movie when it first came out. Like, back
- 9:19Speaker 3: in the day, I watched it a ton. It's an
- 9:22Speaker 3: irreverent story about the Lord. If people haven't seen it,
- 9:27Speaker 3: it's a Kevin Smith movie. So it's, you know, dirty
- 9:30Speaker 3: and crass and all these things.
- 9:33Speaker 5: Great monologues.
- 9:34Speaker 3: So many great monologues. And it's such an interesting story
- 9:37Speaker 3: because it's about, like, angels who have been cast down
- 9:40Speaker 3: that are now, like, going to.
- 9:42Speaker 5: Reenter heaven and.
- 9:44Speaker 3: It sounds like it could be very serious and it
- 9:46Speaker 3: has its moments, but it's mostly just silly and funny
- 9:49Speaker 3: and like satire-y. Yeah. It's not for everyone for sure,
- 9:52Speaker 3: but I loved it. uh and it was really fun
- 9:55Speaker 3: to re-watch we had a really good time doing that
- 9:57Speaker 3: so amazing yeah it was great man but otherwise life
- 10:00Speaker 3: is good just chilling hanging out chilling uh what's the
- 10:04Speaker 3: most recent movie you've seen since i kind of snuck.
- 10:07Speaker 5: Yeah you're good i've seen i've been on so many
- 10:10Speaker 5: flights and had really long travel days so i i
- 10:13Speaker 5: am like caught up on some movies which is really
- 10:15Speaker 5: great i'm not but i love it got you love
- 10:18Speaker 5: it um so yeah i was on a flight finally
- 10:21Speaker 5: got to check out one of the biggest movies in
- 10:23Speaker 5: the world this year uh antoine fuqua's michael um nice
- 10:29Speaker 5: it's the michael jackson biopic featuring jafar jackson michael jackson's
- 10:35Speaker 5: nephew um is what i keep hearing.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Yeah i didn't know that until you said that yeah fun.
- 10:42Speaker 5: Dude, this guy has his speaking voice down perfectly.
- 10:47Speaker 3: It's nuts. So I wasn't going to talk about this today,
- 10:50Speaker 3: but I'll talk about this as well. 100% confirmed with you. Unbelievable.
- 10:55Speaker 3: It's nuts.
- 10:56Speaker 5: And I can't imagine anyone dancing as well.
- 10:59Speaker 4: As this guy either.
- 11:01Speaker 5: Um, I thought Coleman Domingo was awesome as his evil dad, Joseph.
- 11:05Speaker 5: And I wouldn't have even known it was him if
- 11:07Speaker 5: it wasn't for his super deep gravelly voice.
- 11:09Speaker 3: He had those crazy eyes and the like prosthetic stuff. Yeah.
- 11:12Speaker 3: It was wild.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Didn't look anything like, yeah, it was kind of cool. Um,
- 11:17Speaker 5: it was really fun seeing me along in something super successful.
- 11:20Speaker 5: I feel like it's been a long time for me. Uh,
- 11:23Speaker 5: I always loved to knee along. Um, Miles Teller has
- 11:27Speaker 5: a really small part. And Mike Myers basically does the
- 11:30Speaker 5: same thing in this biopic that he did in the
- 11:33Speaker 5: Queen biopic.
- 11:33Speaker 3: Yeah, in Bohemian or Rocketman. I don't remember which one.
- 11:36Speaker 5: No, Bohemian Rhapsody. Was it called Bohemian Rhapsody?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 3: Rocketman was Elton.
- 11:40Speaker 5: Elton John.
- 11:40Speaker 3: Yeah, I thought the same thing. I was like, they
- 11:43Speaker 3: just were like, do that. I was even trying to
- 11:46Speaker 3: be like. that can't be the same guy right like
- 11:49Speaker 3: is he playing the same character.
- 11:51Speaker 5: By no the other one was british oh that's what
- 11:54Speaker 5: i thought yeah this guy was being more like new
- 11:57Speaker 5: yorker yeah.
- 11:59Speaker 3: So weird that i mean great it was fun yeah
- 12:02Speaker 3: and he yeah he crushed it took me a second
- 12:04Speaker 3: to recognize him honestly uh in this one so i'm
- 12:07Speaker 3: with you on that i thought that was really.
- 12:08Speaker 5: Neat But yeah, tons of music and performances. And we
- 12:13Speaker 5: get a look at his messed up childhood, which has
- 12:15Speaker 5: been pretty well documented. But I liked it much more
- 12:19Speaker 5: than I thought I would. I had low expectations going
- 12:21Speaker 5: in and I thought it was really well done. I
- 12:24Speaker 5: was pleasantly surprised. Yeah.
- 12:26Speaker 3: Same here. I think my expectations were maybe slightly higher,
- 12:30Speaker 3: but because you had seen it before I did. Right.
- 12:34Speaker 3: But I was like, man, this was actually pretty good.
- 12:37Speaker 5: Did you watch it on the flight home? No, when
- 12:40Speaker 5: did I watch it?
- 12:42Speaker 3: Okay. I went to the theater, actually, and saw it
- 12:44Speaker 3: once I was home, which was a fun choice because
- 12:48Speaker 3: the music was really bombastic and big and stuff. There
- 12:51Speaker 3: was only like one showing, so you probably can't even
- 12:53Speaker 3: see it now. You know what I mean? It was
- 12:55Speaker 3: like a really... I happened to like an afternoon one.
- 12:58Speaker 3: But yeah, it was.
- 13:00Speaker 5: I really liked it. I thought it was really good.
- 13:03Speaker 3: I mean, with the caveat of like... His family made this.
- 13:07Speaker 3: I think.
- 13:09Speaker 5: This is the, you know, I don't know how true
- 13:12Speaker 5: it is. Right, right, right, right. All of it. Yeah.
- 13:15Speaker 5: I'm not even saying that, like.
- 13:16Speaker 4: They probably glossed over some stuff, yeah.
- 13:18Speaker 3: Yeah, and I'm not even saying that, like, they did
- 13:19Speaker 3: it nefariously. Just, like, when we tell stories, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 3: we augment things.
- 13:25Speaker 5: And, like, you know, I don't know.
- 13:26Speaker 3: So, like.
- 13:27Speaker 5: Sure.
- 13:28Speaker 3: To whatever level you want to take that to. But
- 13:31Speaker 3: as a pure, you know... as a pure biopic i
- 13:34Speaker 3: actually thought it was it was pretty compelling i liked
- 13:36Speaker 3: it yeah uh i'm super interested because it sounds like
- 13:39Speaker 3: they're gonna do the next one they are for sure
- 13:42Speaker 3: and that that seems like that could be that'll be
- 13:45Speaker 3: a tougher time because they pretty much stop right when
- 13:49Speaker 3: things get controversial yeah he hasn't he hasn't built Neverland yet,
- 13:54Speaker 3: but it's like right there. But he's doing like the,
- 13:57Speaker 3: you know, the plastic surgery and yeah, I totally forgot
- 14:01Speaker 3: the vitiligo stuff.
- 14:04Speaker 5: Really?
- 14:04Speaker 3: I don't know why I, that just left my brain
- 14:07Speaker 3: that that's what, like once they said it, I was like,
- 14:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, duh. But I said, Oh yeah, duh. So
- 14:13Speaker 3: it was like, I must've left my brain for a moment. Yeah.
- 14:16Speaker 3: Kind of funny.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Do you, um, were you old enough? Do you remember
- 14:19Speaker 5: like his, his, uh, I guess it was an interview
- 14:24Speaker 5: that went like it was so big at the time.
- 14:27Speaker 5: It might have been like Barbara Walters or something. And
- 14:30Speaker 5: he was like. being like being questioned about, cause I
- 14:34Speaker 5: think there were people were worried about whatever he was
- 14:37Speaker 5: doing with children and he had to be deposed pretty much.
- 14:41Speaker 3: I feel like I know it happened, but I don't
- 14:43Speaker 3: think I like watched it or we watched it in
- 14:46Speaker 3: real time for sure.
- 14:47Speaker 5: When I was a kid. Yeah.
- 14:48Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 14:49Speaker 5: It was a big deal.
- 14:50Speaker 3: I don't know that that would even matter. Cause we
- 14:51Speaker 3: didn't have satellite for a long time when I was
- 14:53Speaker 3: growing up. So we just had like the couple channels,
- 14:56Speaker 3: but that was probably on a network. So that probably
- 14:58Speaker 3: didn't matter anyway. Um, but yeah, no, I'd, Honestly, I
- 15:02Speaker 3: don't I didn't know a ton about I knew a
- 15:04Speaker 3: ton like sporadically about his life, but not in sequence
- 15:07Speaker 3: like that all told at the same time kind of deal.
- 15:10Speaker 3: So I thought it was interesting. He obviously is tremendously talented.
- 15:15Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 15:16Speaker 3: You know, in so many ways, unlike affected so many people.
- 15:20Speaker 3: artist you know and music around him forever it's crazy
- 15:24Speaker 3: just changed the world yeah and so many bangers of
- 15:26Speaker 3: tunes um.
- 15:27Speaker 5: Yeah but yeah the next movie i don't know i
- 15:30Speaker 5: don't know man yeah it's gonna be so controversial any
- 15:35Speaker 5: way he does it so.
- 15:36Speaker 3: It's either like well this is clearly a lie or
- 15:39Speaker 3: they're glossing over it or it's like yeah yeah I know.
- 15:43Speaker 5: I feel like they should quit while they're ahead.
- 15:46Speaker 3: Janet Jackson must have just been like, I don't want
- 15:48Speaker 3: to be involved or something, because I feel like she
- 15:50Speaker 3: was barely referenced in this movie.
- 15:52Speaker 5: Not at all.
- 15:52Speaker 3: Right.
- 15:53Speaker 5: I felt like Latoya was much more. Yeah, for sure.
- 15:56Speaker 3: But I don't even know if we ever even saw
- 15:58Speaker 3: Janet or like her and her name.
- 16:01Speaker 5: No, we never did.
- 16:02Speaker 3: But yeah, anyway, I agree with you. I thought it
- 16:04Speaker 3: was actually pretty great. And he was magnificent. Like the,
- 16:09Speaker 3: what is that dude's name?
- 16:11Speaker 5: Jafar Jackson.
- 16:12Speaker 3: Jafar Jackson.
- 16:13Speaker 5: He was great.
- 16:14Speaker 3: Really, really good. So yeah, I almost wonder if he'll
- 16:17Speaker 3: get nominated or something. Like, I think if it, I
- 16:20Speaker 3: wouldn't be surprised if it was about anyone other than
- 16:23Speaker 3: Michael Jackson, I think it would be like unquestionable.
- 16:26Speaker 5: For sure. Right.
- 16:27Speaker 3: So I don't know.
- 16:28Speaker 5: Why he wouldn't, you know, I could absolutely see that. Yeah.
- 16:31Speaker 3: So, Anyway, so, yeah, I guess I glommed on to yours.
- 16:35Speaker 3: What have you been streaming?
- 16:38Speaker 5: I found another gem on a Delta flight. I did
- 16:42Speaker 5: see that it is you can rent it on Prime
- 16:44Speaker 5: and somewhere else. OK, Apple probably. Yeah, but I watched
- 16:49Speaker 5: the film. It's called I Swear, which is it's about
- 16:54Speaker 5: a guy named John Davidson who. was diagnosed with Tourette's
- 16:57Speaker 5: syndrome at a young age.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Oh, yeah.
- 17:00Speaker 5: This looked interesting. And he was growing up. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, dude.
- 17:03Speaker 5: I hadn't heard anything about it, but I was like, oh,
- 17:05Speaker 5: I saw that the Rotten Tomatoes scores were insane. So
- 17:07Speaker 5: I was like, oh, I'll try it.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Love that.
- 17:10Speaker 4: But this was like a new thing.
- 17:11Speaker 5: He was growing up. I think it was like in
- 17:13Speaker 5: the 70s. And nobody knew how to deal with him
- 17:17Speaker 5: in this small town in the UK. And so it's
- 17:20Speaker 5: based on a true story. Such an incredible film. It's
- 17:25Speaker 5: led by the actor Robert Aramayo. And this guy is
- 17:29Speaker 5: so good, dude.
- 17:31Speaker 3: That's Elrond. Do you know that?
- 17:33Speaker 5: Elrond?
- 17:34Speaker 3: Yeah, from the Lord of the Rings show. Amazing. Ring
- 17:38Speaker 3: of Power.
- 17:39Speaker 4: I did not know that.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Yeah, that's that same guy.
- 17:41Speaker 4: That's that same guy.
- 17:43Speaker 3: Cool.
- 17:44Speaker 5: I didn't know that. I was I was meaning to
- 17:46Speaker 5: look up his his filmography and I did not. but
- 17:50Speaker 5: um dude he kills it he could certainly be up
- 17:53Speaker 5: for a for an academy award as well yeah i
- 17:55Speaker 5: think i saw a clip.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Of them like talking and he yeah i was like
- 17:59Speaker 3: whoa this looks cool like.
- 18:01Speaker 5: Interesting it's so good that's cool man his performance really
- 18:05Speaker 5: carries it um people are loving it and it is
- 18:09Speaker 5: currently number 113 on imdb's top 250 so like it
- 18:14Speaker 5: is getting very high price it's gonna he he Yeah,
- 18:19Speaker 5: I wouldn't be surprised if he's up.
- 18:20Speaker 3: That's so fun.
- 18:22Speaker 4: Worth checking out.
- 18:23Speaker 3: Good for him. He's a good actor.
- 18:25Speaker 5: He's incredible in this, too.
- 18:27Speaker 3: I like it. I like it. Yeah.
- 18:29Speaker 5: Very cool.
- 18:30Speaker 3: Well, should we do a few plug-a-roons here?

- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 5: And I'm going to be hoping these guys are carrying it. Yes.
- 19:48Speaker 4: Big time. Feel free to go obscure.
- 19:51Speaker 5: Oh, no, because I also was hoping that.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Crap.
- 19:55Speaker 5: I was having a hard time. I thought this.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Was going to be way easier than it was. Yeah.
- 19:59Speaker 5: I mean, I have plenty. I mean, if we could
- 20:01Speaker 5: just do teams, then it would be a lot.
- 20:04Speaker 3: You need to pick two people from those teams.
- 20:06Speaker 5: Two people, yeah.
- 20:07Speaker 4: Let's do two people from the team.
- 20:10Speaker 5: Sure.
- 20:11Speaker 3: We'll figure it out. I mean, yeah, it'll be great.
- 20:14Speaker 3: It'll be great.
- 20:14Speaker 5: It'll be fun.
- 20:15Speaker 3: It'll be so fun.
- 20:17Speaker 5: We will look forward to that.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Greg.
- 20:18Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 5: But we're here today.
- 20:21Speaker 3: A little Marvel madness for everybody. I'm doing a great job.
- 20:25Speaker 3: You are. We're here to talk about a movie that
- 20:30Speaker 3: is taking the world by storm. I think it just
- 20:33Speaker 3: passed two billion dollars or something. I read today.
- 20:35Speaker 5: It's nuts. That's pretty, pretty intense.
- 20:38Speaker 3: We're here to talk a little Spider-Man brand new day
- 20:42Speaker 3: and maybe a brand new day. But we're going to
- 20:45Speaker 3: get our guy back that we have on for pretty
- 20:47Speaker 3: much all the Marvel movies. So, yeah, let's give it up.
- 20:51Speaker 3: You know him.
- 20:51Speaker 5: You love him. Give it up for Riley Zember.
- 20:54Speaker 4: What's up, Riley?
- 20:55Speaker 2: Hello, my friends.
- 20:57Speaker 5: Hi. So good to see you, buddy. I know.
- 21:00Speaker 3: How are you?
- 21:01Speaker 5: I'm great.
- 21:02Speaker 2: I was just saying that I got to see your
- 21:03Speaker 2: beautiful faces in real life at the getaway, which was
- 21:06Speaker 2: a treat.
- 21:07Speaker 3: I know.
- 21:08Speaker 2: To follow up so quickly with a little digital hangout here.
- 21:11Speaker 5: Yeah, dude, you're going to be on back-to-back episodes for us.
- 21:15Speaker 5: Oh my gosh, yeah.
- 21:16Speaker 3: That's a good call.
- 21:17Speaker 5: That is true.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I can't wait to hear and see some of those
- 21:20Speaker 2: segments from the live stuff because it was a whirlwind
- 21:23Speaker 2: in person. So then to go back and.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 2: See it after the fact. It'll be very fun.
- 21:27Speaker 3: It's going to be fun. I haven't edited it yet,
- 21:29Speaker 3: so I don't remember what happened.
- 21:30Speaker 2: No pressure.
- 21:31Speaker 3: No pressure. I think we won't talk about it. Just excited.
- 21:34Speaker 5: Just excited.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Wonderful.
- 21:35Speaker 2: But I'm great.
- 21:37Speaker 3: We're like awesome.
- 21:38Speaker 2: We're very busy. There's a lot going on. Rowan starts
- 21:41Speaker 2: school next week again. And then Cypress starts preschool this
- 21:46Speaker 2: fall here.
- 21:46Speaker 5: So that's a.
- 21:47Speaker 2: Couple days a week for him. And we just are
- 21:50Speaker 2: trying to gear up for... Halloween and Christmas content and just,
- 21:55Speaker 2: you know, stuff. So trying to stay busy over here
- 21:59Speaker 2: while also keeping our lives together. Yep.
- 22:03Speaker 3: That is the trick of it. Well, if you want
- 22:06Speaker 3: to hear the things that they do, you can go
- 22:07Speaker 3: to houndfoxmusic.com.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Yes, please.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And find everything, basically, right?
- 22:12Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got a new EP that we just dropped.
- 22:16Speaker 2: That's right. It's got the new one that we did
- 22:18Speaker 2: from Project Hail Mary.
- 22:20Speaker 5: Yes, I love it.
- 22:21Speaker 3: With the little helpful.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Nudge from you guys and excitement for that was definitely
- 22:26Speaker 2: part of making that possible. And then we were like,
- 22:27Speaker 2: we've got a few songs that kind of tell a
- 22:29Speaker 2: weird little post-apocalyptic love story here. Let's put them on
- 22:34Speaker 2: an EP. So that's just a little four-song EP. You
- 22:36Speaker 2: can get that on our website. shopify and stuff or
- 22:39Speaker 2: stream it and yeah and then just looking out for
- 22:42Speaker 2: some really cool really cool halloween stuff this year cool
- 22:47Speaker 2: follow us on on patreon even just at like the
- 22:49Speaker 2: basic level you'll see lots of sneaky little previews and
- 22:52Speaker 2: then some very cool stuff for uh for christmas so
- 22:55Speaker 2: as well lots.
- 22:56Speaker 5: Of that you guys own halloween you guys always run.
- 22:59Speaker 2: That makes me feel really good i love yeah that
- 23:02Speaker 2: people see that and think that because like we call
- 23:04Speaker 2: it dark folk and that's like such a generic phrase
- 23:07Speaker 2: but it like really fits and we have so much
- 23:09Speaker 2: fun uh fun with stuff you know and uh and
- 23:13Speaker 2: yeah it's great we love it and it makes us
- 23:15Speaker 2: happy so uh you can hear it same same same
- 23:19Speaker 2: we love it it makes us happy spooky spooky fun times.
- 23:23Speaker 3: Yeah nice love that well check that out uh we're
- 23:27Speaker 3: here today like we said earlier to talk a little
- 23:29Speaker 3: spider-man brand new day And I think we should get
- 23:32Speaker 3: right into it. Rob, you want to hit us with
- 23:34Speaker 3: a rough synopsis? Sure.
- 23:36Speaker 5: Okay. Four years after No Way Home, an isolated Peter
- 23:40Speaker 5: Parker works full time at Spider-Man in New York while
- 23:43Speaker 5: tracking Ned and MJ from afar. Stressed by loneliness, Peter
- 23:48Speaker 5: undergoes a biological mutation, giving him organic cancer. When a
- 23:53Speaker 5: body-hopping telepath, Jean Grey, targets MJ and possesses Bruce Banner
- 23:58Speaker 5: slash Hulk, Spider-Man teams up with Frank Castle to stop
- 24:02Speaker 5: the chaos. Nice.
- 24:06Speaker 2: Wow.
- 24:06Speaker 5: Nice.
- 24:07Speaker 2: That, I have to say, is the most spoilerific synopsis
- 24:13Speaker 2: that I may have ever heard for any of these
- 24:14Speaker 2: movies ever.
- 24:15Speaker 3: That's interesting.
- 24:16Speaker 2: If you hadn't seen this movie and read that, you'd
- 24:18Speaker 2: be pissed because.
- 24:21Speaker 5: Spoiler alert anybody who hasn't listened or seen brand new
- 24:25Speaker 5: day uh they know that we're good we're they know
- 24:28Speaker 5: almost 400 episodes in yeah.
- 24:30Speaker 3: They got they got to expect we're gonna talk about
- 24:32Speaker 3: a million dollars or something everyone has seen it probably
- 24:34Speaker 3: at this point i.
- 24:35Speaker 2: Know dude it's crushing we're this is it's got like
- 24:39Speaker 2: like uh golden age mcu vibes as far as like
- 24:42Speaker 2: crazy performing Agreed.
- 24:46Speaker 3: Let's hear how it's performing on Rotten Tomatoes now. Critics
- 24:49Speaker 3: have it coming in at a pretty rock solid 89%.
- 24:53Speaker 2: Wow.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Yeah. That's hot. That's got to be the best one
- 24:56Speaker 3: in the world. I was going to say, do you.
- 24:58Speaker 2: Have the other numbers? Because that'd be interesting how it
- 24:59Speaker 2: compares to the other ones.
- 25:01Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 25:02Speaker 2: You don't have to pull them up, but I just
- 25:03Speaker 2: am curious.
- 25:04Speaker 3: You know? We just did Thunderbolts. What was that one?
- 25:10Speaker 3: Because I feel like that was.
- 25:12Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 25:14Speaker 3: One second. One second. Yeah, dude.
- 25:16Speaker 5: It has reached over 2 billion. You're right.
- 25:18Speaker 2: That's crazy.
- 25:19Speaker 5: And Super Mario Galaxy was just at number one at 1.01 billion. Nuts.
- 25:26Speaker 4: Like two weeks ago. So that's insane.
- 25:29Speaker 5: That is crazy.
- 25:30Speaker 2: That was a fun movie, too.
- 25:33Speaker 3: Thunderbolts. Around the same. 88%. Well, here's what.
- 25:36Speaker 2: I find fascinating is the Spider-Man MCU movies.
- 25:40Speaker 3: So.
- 25:41Speaker 2: Homecoming had a 92 critic, 87 audience. Far From Home
- 25:46Speaker 2: had 91, 95 audience. No Way Home had a 93,
- 25:50Speaker 2: 97 audience. No surprise there.
- 25:52Speaker 3: That sounds right.
- 25:53Speaker 2: And then this one has, like you said, 89, but
- 25:55Speaker 2: a 98 audience. So this one has the best audience score,
- 25:59Speaker 2: but the lowest critic score, which I find very interesting,
- 26:02Speaker 2: of just.
- 26:02Speaker 5: The MCU Spider-Man movies.
- 26:04Speaker 3: I do think for movies that are sort of like
- 26:07Speaker 3: hot right away, I think they go down over time.
- 26:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Slightly.
- 26:12Speaker 2: Sure, sure.
- 26:13Speaker 3: So I wonder if that happens.
- 26:14Speaker 2: We'll see how it balances out.
- 26:15Speaker 3: People start being like, I have something to say. Yeah.
- 26:18Speaker 5: It's not that good.
- 26:19Speaker 2: But the audience going bananas over this one. I mean,
- 26:23Speaker 2: it's gone up and up. It went literally from Homecoming
- 26:26Speaker 2: to this one. It's only gotten better for the audiences,
- 26:28Speaker 2: which I would agree with, I think.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Dude, people love Spidey.
- 26:32Speaker 5: Same.
- 26:33Speaker 3: That includes me. Join the club.
- 26:34Speaker 5: Well, let's hear what we think.
- 26:36Speaker 3: It's time for our hot take.
- 26:38Speaker 5: Hot take.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Oh, ouch.
- 26:39Speaker 5: Oh, spicy.
- 26:41Speaker 3: Mmm, that's a hot take.
- 26:43Speaker 4: Mmm, that's a hot take.
- 26:44Speaker 5: Ow, I burned myself.
- 26:46Speaker 3: Ah, damn it.
- 26:48Speaker 5: Ow.
- 26:49Speaker 1: Ow.
- 26:50Speaker 3: The chip lights on fire at one point. It overheats,
- 26:52Speaker 3: so that's probably pretty hot.
- 26:53Speaker 5: The inhibitor. That's hot.
- 26:54Speaker 3: The inhibitor chip, yeah. Mm-hmm. there we go we we
- 26:57Speaker 3: did it way to go um i can go first
- 27:01Speaker 3: on this one i love love love this movie oh
- 27:05Speaker 3: yeah i i think i i probably say it every
- 27:09Speaker 3: mcu movie but you do really truly i i think
- 27:12Speaker 3: we're back like i think we're you say it every
- 27:14Speaker 3: time this is a nice uh this is a nice
- 27:16Speaker 3: new era i think that we're gonna be in i
- 27:18Speaker 3: really probably I like them. I don't know what to
- 27:22Speaker 3: tell you. But I think this movie is genuinely pretty amazing.
- 27:28Speaker 3: Super fun.
- 27:29Speaker 5: It is. They have so many homages.
- 27:32Speaker 3: I don't know if either of you have played the
- 27:33Speaker 3: Spider-Man video games that have been coming out recently.
- 27:36Speaker 2: I haven't, but I've seen some of the I've seen
- 27:39Speaker 2: the comparisons that they make.
- 27:40Speaker 3: Yeah. So fun. The best thing about those games, in
- 27:43Speaker 3: my opinion, is just getting to sling around over in
- 27:46Speaker 3: New York and And this movie really had that vibe
- 27:49Speaker 3: to it up to and including a couple of shots
- 27:51Speaker 3: that were like they had to be recreations from the
- 27:54Speaker 3: video game itself. Just like there are a bunch of
- 27:56Speaker 3: comic book, you know, frames that came right out of
- 27:59Speaker 3: the pages and stuff like that.
- 28:01Speaker 5: Really loved it.
- 28:02Speaker 3: I just think so much personality from Spider-Man. Spider-Man continues
- 28:08Speaker 3: to kind of just be like the golden goose a
- 28:10Speaker 3: little bit for MCU. I think even when they're flagging
- 28:14Speaker 3: a tiny bit. Which I've come around to being like, yeah,
- 28:18Speaker 3: but also like circumstances were really against them for a
- 28:21Speaker 3: long time with like several, you know, a global pandemic.
- 28:26Speaker 3: And then we had like multiple strikes with some unions.
- 28:32Speaker 3: We had like some people do some dumb stuff and then,
- 28:35Speaker 3: you know, kind of had to pivot around it. We
- 28:38Speaker 3: lost Black Panther, who was going to be clearly a
- 28:40Speaker 3: big part. Oh, yeah. what they were going to do
- 28:42Speaker 3: and that, you know, like had to kind of figure
- 28:44Speaker 3: that out. Anyway, uh, I'm not here to apologize for them, but, uh,
- 28:48Speaker 3: I really loved this movie a ton. I had a
- 28:51Speaker 3: great time with it. I don't. So I'm going to
- 28:54Speaker 3: go into a spiel here and I want to, I
- 28:56Speaker 3: want to add the caveat right away. We all know
- 28:59Speaker 3: the saying, uh, to a hammer, everything is a nail. Uh,
- 29:04Speaker 3: have you guys heard that? I have.
- 29:05Speaker 2: I have.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I feel like there's so many movies.
- 29:09Speaker 5: About grief right now.
- 29:09Speaker 3: And I don't know if that's because I'm like in
- 29:11Speaker 3: my own grief path or whatever, but this one specifically
- 29:15Speaker 3: felt like it was so much about that, about Aunt May,
- 29:18Speaker 3: about his friends, about all these things. And I just,
- 29:21Speaker 3: I loved how they did that and how the MCU
- 29:24Speaker 3: in general is kind of starting to speak about these
- 29:28Speaker 3: like bigger things that affect all of us as humans
- 29:30Speaker 3: and through the lens of seeing it through a superhero,
- 29:34Speaker 3: which is really fun, right?
- 29:35Speaker 2: We have that's what thunderbolt.
- 29:36Speaker 3: Anxiety and depression from thunderbolts is that what you said
- 29:40Speaker 3: riley yeah.
- 29:40Speaker 2: That's what thunderbolt i was just saying that's exactly the
- 29:42Speaker 2: same sort of thing like human emotions And then using
- 29:45Speaker 2: that to tell a greater story about superheroes.
- 29:47Speaker 3: So, so fun. But I just I love this and
- 29:50Speaker 3: I love their take on it of just like, you know,
- 29:53Speaker 3: it can feel all encompassing and it but you still
- 29:56Speaker 3: like there's moments of sunlight through that. But also we
- 30:00Speaker 3: have this at least at times or I do at
- 30:03Speaker 3: times like the feeling that you need to pull away
- 30:05Speaker 3: when maybe that's actually antithetical to like. actually coming back
- 30:09Speaker 3: to yourself to healing. I loved the, like the more
- 30:12Speaker 3: that he pulled away from himself and from the people
- 30:15Speaker 3: he loved. Cause like Spider-Man at his core, uh, like
- 30:19Speaker 3: he is crazy powerful he's crazy good but he is
- 30:22Speaker 3: like just a good dude and a good hang like
- 30:25Speaker 3: that's almost his biggest superpower i feel like you know
- 30:28Speaker 3: that's why he gets along with everybody.
- 30:30Speaker 6: You know yeah good hang good web hang um i
- 30:34Speaker 6: like that but i just love that like the imagery
- 30:37Speaker 6: of him like the spiders taking over more as he
- 30:40Speaker 6: forgets peter parker and like trying to find that balance
- 30:43Speaker 6: and i just thought that was such a i just
- 30:45Speaker 6: thought it was so lovely the way they did it
- 30:47Speaker 6: uh Yeah.
- 30:49Speaker 3: The action is fantastic. Everything about it is just wonderful.
- 30:53Speaker 3: I really, really like this movie a lot. I saw
- 30:55Speaker 3: it too many times in theaters.
- 30:57Speaker 4: Uh, how many times tell us.
- 30:59Speaker 3: Three times I've seen it. But also I watched before
- 31:04Speaker 3: I went and saw it this last time I saw
- 31:06Speaker 3: it yesterday before I went and saw it, I've rewatched
- 31:09Speaker 3: all the original trilogy again, or not the original Tom
- 31:12Speaker 3: Holland's trilogy.
- 31:13Speaker 5: I was like, I kind of want to feel the
- 31:15Speaker 5: through line.
- 31:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:16Speaker 3: Uh, I don't think this one is my favorite of
- 31:20Speaker 3: them all. I still love Homecoming the most for whatever reason.
- 31:25Speaker 3: I love Homecoming.
- 31:26Speaker 5: I don't know why.
- 31:28Speaker 3: It's just amazing to me, but it's got to be second.
- 31:31Speaker 3: If it's not first, it's second or 1A or whatever.
- 31:34Speaker 3: Just love this movie. I have a hot take, but
- 31:37Speaker 3: I also have a couple of Marvel-y things. So I'm
- 31:40Speaker 3: going to do the Marvel hot takes first. When Peter
- 31:43Speaker 3: talks to Bruce at the college... He clearly impresses him, right?
- 31:47Speaker 3: Talking about the inhibitor and, like, calls out how it's
- 31:50Speaker 3: going to work. He says his name is Ned. I think...
- 31:55Speaker 3: We clearly keep saying, like, Ned's not going to be
- 31:57Speaker 3: a bad guy. Ned's not going to be an enemy.
- 31:59Speaker 3: I do think they have some idea of that happening.
- 32:02Speaker 3: I wonder if Bruce says, hey, I just had this student.
- 32:05Speaker 3: If you're looking for an intern, this Ned Leeds kid
- 32:08Speaker 3: who I just talked to was amazing. You should hire him.
- 32:12Speaker 3: Maybe an Oscorp situation. Maybe that's how Ned gets over there.
- 32:15Speaker 3: And we get Hobgoblin Ned. Yeah, because I think he's
- 32:18Speaker 3: going to be some goblin.
- 32:20Speaker 2: He would be Hobgoblin, who's not Green Goblin, nor is
- 32:23Speaker 2: he Harry Osborn. He's Goblin's a whole other thing. And
- 32:26Speaker 2: have you if you've seen the concept art of Jacob,
- 32:29Speaker 2: is it battle on as Hobgoblin?
- 32:32Speaker 3: Especially since it's cool. It's very cool.
- 32:35Speaker 2: I mean, not that I would be heartbroken to see
- 32:37Speaker 2: Ned take that journey.
- 32:38Speaker 5: Any of that.
- 32:39Speaker 2: But it's because it makes me too sad.
- 32:40Speaker 3: But interesting, though. No, but I do.
- 32:44Speaker 5: No, I hate that.
- 32:46Speaker 3: No.
- 32:46Speaker 2: Rob says hard pass.
- 32:48Speaker 3: Rob says no.
- 32:49Speaker 5: So thank you. I love that, guys.
- 32:51Speaker 2: Listen, I'm saying that.
- 32:53Speaker 3: Also, Peter Parker came up with the universal inhibitor in
- 32:56Speaker 3: this dimension, and that's very interesting.
- 33:00Speaker 2: Very interesting.
- 33:00Speaker 3: That's the concept for it. I think that's really cool.
- 33:02Speaker 3: And quite a problematic little device. It's going to come
- 33:05Speaker 3: up a lot in the X-Men movies, is my guess.
- 33:08Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 33:09Speaker 3: But will lead to some fun interactions with Peter in them,
- 33:11Speaker 3: so I think that's really cool. Also, additional side hot take,
- 33:18Speaker 3: did Peter's X-Gene... Does he have an X gene as
- 33:22Speaker 3: well as being bit? I looked this up.
- 33:24Speaker 2: Or actually, I didn't look this up because people on Facebook,
- 33:27Speaker 2: if you want to pull your hair out, go on
- 33:29Speaker 2: Facebook and read comment threads.
- 33:31Speaker 5: Just in general.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Just in general about anything, let alone divisive superhero stuff.
- 33:39Speaker 2: And I have something in my hot take that I'll
- 33:41Speaker 2: mention about that same sort of journey that I was
- 33:43Speaker 2: just like, oh my gosh, you guys use your eyes
- 33:45Speaker 2: and your ears. They are, the X-Men are mutants, right?
- 33:50Speaker 2: They're born with the X gene. Peter, Bruce, Banner, a
- 33:55Speaker 2: handful of others are mutates. So they were mutated by
- 34:01Speaker 2: something exterior, i.e. the spider bite or the Bruce's gamma accident.
- 34:08Speaker 3: They were mutated.
- 34:09Speaker 2: They have mutated genes. They're Their DNA is mutated, but
- 34:12Speaker 2: they weren't born with the X gene that blossoms.
- 34:17Speaker 3: During sort of puberty kind of vibe, right?
- 34:19Speaker 2: Like, that's the comparison. There's mutants and there's mutates. And
- 34:23Speaker 2: so you've got, yeah, Captain America's a mutate as well. The, like,
- 34:26Speaker 2: serum mutated him, but he's not a mutant. Is that, yeah, so, like.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, that's interesting.
- 34:31Speaker 2: But the inhibitor works regardless, right? But it does define
- 34:34Speaker 2: them differently from the X-Men and people that have the
- 34:38Speaker 2: X gene.
- 34:39Speaker 7: Versus yeah intriguing uh but then my last and true
- 34:44Speaker 7: hot take is uh uh evie uh his uh his
- 34:49Speaker 7: suit voice um it is absolutely not helpful when someone's
- 34:54Speaker 7: senses are being overloaded to say alert senses overloading.
- 35:00Speaker 5: Every time that happened, I cracked up. I was just like,
- 35:02Speaker 5: who is this helping? That's good. I wanted a.
- 35:08Speaker 2: Comment from him like that, like to the suit.
- 35:12Speaker 5: I know, Evie.
- 35:13Speaker 3: I know. No kidding. You don't say. Stop helping me.
- 35:17Speaker 4: I am sensing it.
- 35:20Speaker 3: That's good.
- 35:20Speaker 5: That's really good. Hot take, buddy. I also love this
- 35:25Speaker 5: movie very much. All of the Tom Holland Spider-Man films
- 35:28Speaker 5: have been awesome. This one is no exception. It's directed
- 35:31Speaker 5: by Destin Daniel Cretton, who also directed Shang-Chi and The
- 35:35Speaker 5: Legend of the Ten Rings.
- 35:37Speaker 3: Hell yeah.
- 35:37Speaker 2: No wonder the fight choreography was on point for this one.
- 35:40Speaker 3: He did Wonder Man as well, right? A couple episodes, yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 4: A couple episodes.
- 35:44Speaker 3: A couple episodes.
- 35:45Speaker 5: Delightful show.
- 35:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 5: But it's written by Chris McKenna and Eric Summers. And
- 35:51Speaker 5: they did the other Tom Holland Spider-Man films as well. Nice.
- 35:55Speaker 5: Which I love. That's so smart.
- 35:56Speaker 2: You can tell the cohesion. It's just like the Russo
- 35:59Speaker 2: brothers doing Infinity War.
- 36:02Speaker 3: Endgame, and, you know, Doomsday. The Captain America trilogy.
- 36:05Speaker 2: And the trilogy. Like, you can feel the cohesion in
- 36:07Speaker 2: the writing. And that's when, that's why these movies rock
- 36:10Speaker 2: is because the story is there. It's all being told
- 36:13Speaker 2: by the same people.
- 36:15Speaker 5: Yes. And you can tell they really understand the characters
- 36:17Speaker 5: they're writing for. And so I love that as well.
- 36:21Speaker 5: I love all these characters. I love that we got
- 36:23Speaker 5: so many other superheroes in there with Bruce Banner and
- 36:26Speaker 5: Frank Castle and Yolanda Belova and the new Jean Grey.
- 36:29Speaker 5: I loved all that. I was enjoying the themes of
- 36:33Speaker 5: self-acceptance and not hiding who you are and also not
- 36:37Speaker 5: carrying all the weight on your own and not being
- 36:39Speaker 5: afraid to like need people. I loved all of that.
- 36:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:43Speaker 4: Um, the visuals in this are so cool.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Um, I had the thought while he was flying through
- 36:49Speaker 5: the city, which we've seen so many times, but I
- 36:51Speaker 5: was like, if I was a kid seeing this for
- 36:53Speaker 5: the first time, I would just be obsessed with this.
- 36:56Speaker 3: Obsessed. Yeah.
- 36:58Speaker 5: Good call.
- 36:59Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 36:59Speaker 5: We get his like POV a few times. It's just insane.
- 37:03Speaker 5: Those scenes will never get old for me. Like I
- 37:06Speaker 5: could watch an hour of just those. I love it. Um,
- 37:12Speaker 5: I loved all the hopping into people that Jean Grey does.
- 37:15Speaker 5: Really cool. It really reminded me of a film I
- 37:19Speaker 5: brought up a few times. It made me think of
- 37:21Speaker 5: that and I haven't even seen it because.
- 37:22Speaker 3: You brought it up.
- 37:23Speaker 5: The movie is called Fallen with Denzel Washington and there's
- 37:27Speaker 5: this like spirit that's like will transfer to other people
- 37:31Speaker 5: if you touch them. But it's still that same kind
- 37:33Speaker 5: of like hoppy, like you see them become.
- 37:36Speaker 2: The physical lurch was such a great little subtle choice.
- 37:39Speaker 2: You need that to like be able to... Because how
- 37:41Speaker 2: do you convey that effectively without... Without that physicality.
- 37:46Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:47Speaker 5: And it was like through a crowd and stuff.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Yeah, so neat.
- 37:50Speaker 2: The lurch literally physically kind of pointing an arrow to
- 37:53Speaker 2: the next target.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 5: It was neat. Loved all that.
- 37:56Speaker 4: I got a few hot takes. Love it.
- 38:00Speaker 5: One that I don't feel super strongly about, but I
- 38:04Speaker 5: did feel like the first act could have been sped
- 38:07Speaker 5: up a bit.
- 38:07Speaker 4: Although I love these characters, I could spend all day
- 38:11Speaker 4: with it.
- 38:11Speaker 5: Sure. I did feel like the first act could have
- 38:14Speaker 5: moved on a little bit. We get that he is
- 38:18Speaker 5: like lonely and sad.
- 38:21Speaker 2: He's a sad little hot dog boy.
- 38:24Speaker 3: We get it.
- 38:26Speaker 5: I felt like they were really kind of hitting us
- 38:28Speaker 5: over the head with it in the beginning. We know
- 38:31Speaker 5: that he's all work and no play and he's bummed out.
- 38:35Speaker 5: And I definitely felt that the second watch through. Another
- 38:40Speaker 5: thing that I hated not loving was I thought that
- 38:44Speaker 5: the VMAX reveal was kind of anticlimactic. Oh, really? I
- 38:49Speaker 5: loved how she really got into her powers after that
- 38:53Speaker 5: and like Whatever. But just knowing that all it was
- 38:56Speaker 5: was a vent that she was seeing. I felt like
- 38:59Speaker 5: they really built it up. And I was like, just
- 39:01Speaker 5: the vent in the room like that. So that's so
- 39:04Speaker 5: I felt a little let down by that. Another really
- 39:09Speaker 5: dumb hot take. And it's very superficial. But Tom Holland
- 39:14Speaker 5: has one eyebrow where he'd like just has one hair
- 39:18Speaker 5: that just is up. And he has had this. He
- 39:22Speaker 5: had it throughout all of the Odyssey and all of
- 39:25Speaker 5: this movie. And I am just like, dude, just just
- 39:29Speaker 5: somebody go, please.
- 39:30Speaker 3: To go.
- 39:30Speaker 5: Just take it out because it's all I can see
- 39:34Speaker 5: on the close ups.
- 39:34Speaker 3: It's all I can see. Hair and makeup. Get in here.
- 39:37Speaker 2: Snip this hair.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Really? I've never noticed this.
- 39:40Speaker 5: I'm so sorry if I wrecked this for you.
- 39:42Speaker 2: I'm currently Googling Tom Holland eyebrow right now.
- 39:45Speaker 3: I want to do that too.
- 39:47Speaker 5: It would be his left eyebrow.
- 39:50Speaker 3: I see it.
- 39:50Speaker 5: And it's just like right, like halfway through. And there's
- 39:52Speaker 5: just like one that just kind of sticks up a
- 39:55Speaker 5: little bit.
- 39:55Speaker 3: Do you know what it.
- 39:56Speaker 2: Almost looks like? I almost wonder if he's got a
- 39:58Speaker 2: scar on his eyebrow that causes the hair to grow
- 40:01Speaker 2: in a crazy way.
- 40:02Speaker 3: So now you're just being rude, right?
- 40:04Speaker 2: Yeah, you're being ableist.
- 40:05Speaker 5: Well, maybe, maybe. No, it does stick up. It sticks up.
- 40:10Speaker 5: Just a little.
- 40:10Speaker 3: I've never noticed that.
- 40:12Speaker 2: But even little. He's got a cowlick on his damn eyebrow, guys.
- 40:15Speaker 5: That is what it is.
- 40:16Speaker 2: This is a baby picture that I just pulled up
- 40:18Speaker 2: of him. And this is a that is a straight up.
- 40:21Speaker 2: eyebrow cowlick that's crazy i never really noticed.
- 40:24Speaker 5: It that's just it's in everything i feel like i've
- 40:27Speaker 5: only noticed it i first noticed it in the odyssey
- 40:30Speaker 5: And it was every time he was on screen. I
- 40:32Speaker 5: was like, oh, maybe that's a thing, a Greek thing
- 40:35Speaker 5: or something. I don't know.
- 40:36Speaker 4: And then I saw it in Spider-Man. I was like, oh,
- 40:38Speaker 4: my God, it's it's all I can see.
- 40:40Speaker 5: No, it's everywhere.
- 40:41Speaker 3: It's in every picture.
- 40:42Speaker 2: And it does. I can't decide. It feels the growth
- 40:44Speaker 2: patterns off there. There's something funky where they're growing straight up.
- 40:47Speaker 2: I don't know if clipping it or trimming it would
- 40:49Speaker 2: actually make a difference, but it's noticeable now.
- 40:51Speaker 3: That's interesting. Yeah.
- 40:53Speaker 4: I'm so sorry.
- 40:54Speaker 2: Not on seeing it.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I'll never be able to watch him again.
- 40:56Speaker 4: No, no, it's still, he's still incredible.
- 41:00Speaker 3: For sure.
- 41:00Speaker 2: Despite his eyebrow, he's still.
- 41:03Speaker 5: Despite his one piece, he's just completely jacked. Very attractive.
- 41:09Speaker 3: It's going to be like Austin Powers. Mole.
- 41:12Speaker 5: Mole, mole, mole.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Eyebrow.
- 41:14Speaker 5: Eyebrow. Eyebrow.
- 41:16Speaker 4: Hey, look at me.
- 41:17Speaker 3: I'm up here. Old Eyebrow McGee over here. Eyebrow Holland.
- 41:23Speaker 3: that's a great, I hate that.
- 41:25Speaker 5: I noticed that, but I couldn't not say that.
- 41:30Speaker 3: That's funny. I like it.
- 41:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 41:32Speaker 5: Hot take.
- 41:33Speaker 3: All right, Riley, what do you got?
- 41:36Speaker 5: All right.
- 41:36Speaker 2: I mean, no surprise here. This movie slapped. Like it
- 41:40Speaker 2: was so fun. We, it was really exciting. Cause like we,
- 41:44Speaker 2: Rowan and I have been in, and by proxy Cypress
- 41:47Speaker 2: has been catching some of it because there's no, the
- 41:49Speaker 2: kids are running around.
- 41:50Speaker 3: So, right.
- 41:51Speaker 2: Uh, We did not let Cypress watch Multiverse of Madness
- 41:55Speaker 2: recently because that's a little bit on the spooky side.
- 41:58Speaker 3: That's very spooky.
- 41:59Speaker 2: And scary. But we were catching up just so that
- 42:03Speaker 2: mostly we can watch Doomsday in theaters because Rowan's been
- 42:06Speaker 2: getting more hyped as he's gotten older about his movies.
- 42:09Speaker 2: So we did all of the movies leading up to
- 42:14Speaker 2: this one. And so No Way Home was very fun.
- 42:16Speaker 2: I had to give him some cliff notes. There was
- 42:18Speaker 2: not enough time to go back and watch the Toby trilogy.
- 42:22Speaker 2: and the Andrew duology.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Oh, my gosh.
- 42:25Speaker 4: I had to be like, there's.
- 42:26Speaker 2: Also these X-Men movies, so you're going to see this.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Maybe you'll see a couple characters from there, like trying
- 42:30Speaker 2: to spoil it, but also.
- 42:32Speaker 5: Give them the down low.
- 42:33Speaker 2: So it was really exciting because he wanted to go
- 42:36Speaker 2: see us in theaters. Ken's has always been my MCU partner,
- 42:38Speaker 2: but Alder still just kind of gives her a hard time.
- 42:42Speaker 2: If we're going to find a movie to watch that
- 42:44Speaker 2: we can go see, it's not going to be this one.
- 42:46Speaker 2: It would be something else that we could get a
- 42:48Speaker 2: sitter for the kiddos. So Rowan was psyched. And then
- 42:51Speaker 2: it was like a day where I was like, well,
- 42:54Speaker 2: maybe Cypress should come to like there's things about these
- 42:56Speaker 2: movies that are a little bit grown up for him.
- 42:58Speaker 3: But he loves Spider-Man.
- 43:01Speaker 2: So he was and it's like the little Spidey and
- 43:03Speaker 2: Friends shows, the animated stuff. Yeah, he's all about it.
- 43:06Speaker 2: It's like every morning Spidey cartoons to wake up to
- 43:10Speaker 2: and stuff.
- 43:11Speaker 3: So I was like, I was like, Cypress will love this, too.
- 43:12Speaker 2: And if it's too much, he can hide his face
- 43:14Speaker 2: and whatever will be fine. And so we went and
- 43:17Speaker 2: saw it. Rowan was absolutely loving it. He said, hot
- 43:21Speaker 2: take from Ro, his favorite MCU movie so far.
- 43:25Speaker 5: Oh, buddy. Just a little.
- 43:26Speaker 2: Hot take from him. He loved it. And then Cypress
- 43:29Speaker 2: was really into it and then absolutely passed out in
- 43:32Speaker 2: the theater on me.
- 43:34Speaker 5: Cute.
- 43:35Speaker 2: He leans over because it was him next to me.
- 43:36Speaker 2: He goes, could I sit on your lap? I was like, sure, bud.
- 43:40Speaker 2: And he just snuggled in. I was like, you can
- 43:42Speaker 2: close your eyes. He just goes, okay. And like fell asleep.
- 43:45Speaker 5: In like five minutes.
- 43:46Speaker 2: So he slept for the middle hour of this movie.
- 43:49Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 43:50Speaker 2: He woke up to when Peter was in the hospital
- 43:54Speaker 2: room with Frank. And Frank puts the mask on there.
- 43:57Speaker 5: To, like, wave to the crowd. And everyone's clapping.
- 43:59Speaker 2: And Cypress wakes up and is, like, clapping for it. Like,
- 44:03Speaker 2: he's clapping along with the crowd.
- 44:05Speaker 5: He did the wake up, start clapping.
- 44:07Speaker 3: He did.
- 44:08Speaker 5: I love that.
- 44:08Speaker 2: And, like, and it got a good laugh, like the
- 44:10Speaker 2: movie did. So then Cypress laughed, having no idea what
- 44:12Speaker 2: the setup.
- 44:13Speaker 3: Or context was. That's so great. Very funny.
- 44:14Speaker 2: So it was a really fun time to go see it.
- 44:17Speaker 2: I really, really enjoyed this movie. I think I'm like you, Bugues,
- 44:21Speaker 2: where I actually.
- 44:24Speaker 2: So I've got a lot of notes here. I'm going
- 44:26Speaker 2: to be concise with them. I'll start with my main hot...
- 44:29Speaker 2: With one of my hot takes, which is that... I
- 44:32Speaker 2: think that this was the best film of the Spider-Man...
- 44:38Speaker 2: The Tom Holland Spider-Man movies. I think it was the
- 44:40Speaker 2: best movie. I think the story it told... And this
- 44:45Speaker 2: is very, very close with Homecoming. Because Homecoming was clutch.
- 44:49Speaker 5: But.
- 44:51Speaker 2: I think Homecoming a little bit was riding the coattails
- 44:54Speaker 2: of Civil War and the greater MCU at large. Tony's
- 44:57Speaker 2: influence on Peter's life, it relied a lot on the
- 45:02Speaker 2: tie-ins to the rest of the MCU. Whereas they all reference,
- 45:06Speaker 2: they all have fun references and cameos and little shout-outs
- 45:09Speaker 2: in here. But this one, because he was so isolated,
- 45:13Speaker 2: it just, the story, it told the emotional story and
- 45:17Speaker 2: arc for Peter and the growth for Spider-Man as a hero.
- 45:21Speaker 2: with nobody stuck on his own. I really feel like it, like,
- 45:25Speaker 2: it played the best role as, like, a movie, right?
- 45:29Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:29Speaker 2: As its own thing. Now, like, No Way Home was, like,
- 45:33Speaker 2: the biggest sort of, like, fists in the air pumping
- 45:35Speaker 2: because of the, like, nostalgia for all of us millennials
- 45:38Speaker 2: and Gen Xers that watched the.
- 45:40Speaker 5: I think that was my favorite one. And it, like, was...
- 45:43Speaker 5: That's fair.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Even on a rewatch, because, again, Rowan and I just
- 45:46Speaker 2: watched that recently, on a rewatch, it holds up.
- 45:48Speaker 3: It's so.
- 45:49Speaker 2: And it's, like, so nonstop amazing references. But if you
- 45:53Speaker 2: haven't seen those old movies, it relies heavily on nostalgia.
- 45:58Speaker 2: So this movie, while it does reference the greater MCU
- 46:01Speaker 2: at large, it does not rely on as much nostalgia.
- 46:04Speaker 2: We don't even get, like, we don't even get J.
- 46:07Speaker 2: Jonah in this. And he, you know, really, like, it
- 46:10Speaker 2: performs as its own wonderful emotional story for Peter that
- 46:14Speaker 2: has so much growth for his character, which you guys
- 46:17Speaker 2: already talked about, like the emotional journey. The time jump,
- 46:20Speaker 2: I was like, oh, damn, we're jumping.
- 46:22Speaker 3: We're jumping forward. Yeah, they jumped a long way.
- 46:24Speaker 4: They jumped a long way.
- 46:25Speaker 2: I loved the initial montage, too, of him sort of
- 46:27Speaker 2: fighting all these low-level villains. It's like he's taking this
- 46:32Speaker 2: role of the friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, the ground-level Spidey. We're
- 46:36Speaker 2: not going to space. We're not fighting aliens. We're fighting messed-up,
- 46:40Speaker 2: crazy people on the ground to keep the people of
- 46:42Speaker 2: New York safe. And that was really cool to see
- 46:45Speaker 2: because that's... where Spidey started, like, as a character in
- 46:49Speaker 2: the comics, and you... It really felt like the same
- 46:54Speaker 2: sort of warm feelings from the Tobey movies and the
- 46:57Speaker 2: Andrew movies that weren't so universal in their, like, scope, which...
- 47:02Speaker 2: Certainly Far From Home and then definitely No Way Home
- 47:05Speaker 2: had that, you know, as amazing as they were. I
- 47:08Speaker 2: love this little, like, isolated viewpoint of Peter's growth. Heartbreaking
- 47:14Speaker 2: development with, like, the memory loss spell being... And proving
- 47:18Speaker 2: to be this permanent, irreversible, unwavering thing. There's no getting
- 47:22Speaker 2: around it. There's no there's no little inklings of memory.
- 47:25Speaker 2: And they're really of who he is. And that was
- 47:28Speaker 2: like I was really rooting for. And this poor woman,
- 47:31Speaker 2: you know, our age sitting right in front of me
- 47:33Speaker 2: with her husband. She was really hoping for it, too.
- 47:36Speaker 2: and like audibly gasping and like, like at a couple
- 47:39Speaker 2: spots where like when MJ full out is like, I
- 47:42Speaker 2: don't know who you are. She's like, she's like, like,
- 47:46Speaker 2: like literally like gasping and like crying. And I'm like,
- 47:49Speaker 2: I'm so sorry.
- 47:50Speaker 3: We're in the same theater. Yeah.
- 47:52Speaker 2: As well i was like okay boohoo moment check there.
- 47:56Speaker 5: We go that was me and you know it you were.
- 47:58Speaker 2: Right there you with just this black wig on just yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 3: I always wore a wig when i got a spidey movie.
- 48:03Speaker 2: Every nobody remembered who he was except for one single
- 48:07Speaker 2: soul i think and i the big green guy oh.
- 48:15Speaker 5: When he is tells him.
- 48:17Speaker 2: When he is hulk And he's about to fall down
- 48:20Speaker 2: with all that.
- 48:20Speaker 3: I'm your friend.
- 48:21Speaker 2: With all that cement and all that concrete hanging on him.
- 48:24Speaker 2: And there's this moment of, like, recognition and then release
- 48:28Speaker 2: from the Hulk. He's not Bannery again yet, at least.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:32Speaker 2: And I think that there was some recognition there once
- 48:34Speaker 2: Gene's hold let go on him, because that's why he
- 48:36Speaker 2: was raging out. It's because of Gene's hold on his
- 48:39Speaker 2: mind and her sort of, like, breaking his psyche for
- 48:41Speaker 2: a moment there. I do find that... Here's a little
- 48:44Speaker 2: tangential hot take.
- 48:46Speaker 5: Love it.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Interesting... Because let's talk about the timeline for a sec.
- 48:50Speaker 2: Hulk was off planet after Ultron. He went and went
- 48:54Speaker 2: to Sakaar and was doing his Ragnarok thing for however
- 48:57Speaker 2: long that was. He was not on planet for Civil War.
- 49:00Speaker 2: He did not meet Spider-Man then. And when he came
- 49:04Speaker 2: back finally in Infinity War, he turned back into Bruce
- 49:09Speaker 2: and then Hulk didn't want to come out at any
- 49:12Speaker 2: point in that time. And then they all get dusted.
- 49:16Speaker 2: yep and then smart hulk kind of banner figures out
- 49:19Speaker 2: how to combine hulk and banner and he becomes smart
- 49:22Speaker 2: hulk so unless hulk is back in the back of
- 49:25Speaker 2: his mind always observing and listening i'm kind of like
- 49:28Speaker 2: when did hulk even know who peter inspired yeah that's
- 49:31Speaker 2: interesting it's interesting so I don't know that. And that's
- 49:34Speaker 2: like a very like we're getting nitpicky here with that
- 49:37Speaker 2: because it was a badass sort of like one of
- 49:40Speaker 2: my favorite scenes in the movie. This whole fight sequence.
- 49:43Speaker 2: And I like that recognition because it gives this sort
- 49:45Speaker 2: of like, oh, there Hulk wasn't present.
- 49:48Speaker 3: Right.
- 49:49Speaker 2: He wasn't there when the spell happened. So is that
- 49:52Speaker 2: fragment of Bruce's mind able to recall? You know, it's interesting.
- 49:56Speaker 2: Interesting implications, but we'll see where they go with that
- 49:59Speaker 2: in the future. I thought all the acting across the
- 50:03Speaker 2: board was phenomenal in this, like from everybody.
- 50:06Speaker 3: Really good.
- 50:07Speaker 2: Love Sadie Sink. She was incredible. And like, obviously, Jean Grey.
- 50:12Speaker 2: They were just trying to pretend like she wasn't Jean
- 50:14Speaker 2: Grey because.
- 50:15Speaker 3: We all called it.
- 50:16Speaker 2: But it was great. Very unique. To go back to
- 50:22Speaker 2: this version of MJ and Ned that they don't know him,
- 50:26Speaker 2: I bet it was interesting for them to play these
- 50:29Speaker 2: roles that they developed over a decade that are now
- 50:32Speaker 2: completely different, as far as their recognition of the world
- 50:35Speaker 2: around them and this character.
- 50:37Speaker 3: Acting was great.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Rob, you kind of mentioned it, but this movie was gorgeous,
- 50:42Speaker 2: and the cinematography was amazing.
- 50:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:46Speaker 2: It brought back so much nostalgia, like you were saying,
- 50:49Speaker 2: the swinging through the city. The way they captured his
- 50:53Speaker 2: connection to New York through the cinematography was so cool.
- 50:58Speaker 2: Like you said, the little inside-his-mask eye shots and the
- 51:02Speaker 2: swinging and his acrobatics and mastering his powers, but also
- 51:06Speaker 2: losing control a little bit. Really, really cool stuff. The
- 51:10Speaker 2: fight with the hand was just.
- 51:13Speaker 5: So not so freaking.
- 51:14Speaker 2: Sick from a cinematography and like a choreography standpoint.
- 51:17Speaker 3: So cool.
- 51:18Speaker 2: Um, like I said, Jean was wonderful as like a villain,
- 51:21Speaker 2: but then the best kind of villain that you're like, Oh,
- 51:25Speaker 2: I get it.
- 51:26Speaker 3: Okay.
- 51:26Speaker 5: You understand.
- 51:27Speaker 2: She's like, she's like a killmonger. She's like a Baron Zemo.
- 51:31Speaker 2: Like you're like, I understand your motives here, but she
- 51:35Speaker 2: is in fact more of a hero in the end.
- 51:37Speaker 2: Whereas those guys were still kind of villains, you know? Um,
- 51:41Speaker 2: I now here's a hot take and we don't usually
- 51:43Speaker 2: like disagree on something.
- 51:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:46Speaker 5: In this little digital workspace.
- 51:48Speaker 2: I thought the V max twist was wonderful because all
- 51:53Speaker 2: of us were like, this is some kind of weapon.
- 51:55Speaker 2: This is some kind of program code name. This is
- 51:57Speaker 2: some kind of like other super powered being like, and
- 52:02Speaker 2: then it was a heartbreaking glimpse into her sister's final
- 52:08Speaker 2: moments and, that then fueled her blossoming into her powers.
- 52:14Speaker 2: She was like, and also there's no shot. Anybody called that.
- 52:21Speaker 2: And that's the best kind of twist. Whereas we all
- 52:23Speaker 2: knew she was Jean gray. It wasn't like, Oh, surprise, surprise.
- 52:25Speaker 2: My name's Jean gray.
- 52:27Speaker 3: No, we knew that. Yeah.
- 52:29Speaker 2: That was like an almost unpredictable plot like twist. And
- 52:34Speaker 2: I think that's the best kind. I'm like, Oh damn,
- 52:36Speaker 2: that's just really sad. And then she goes bananas and is, like,
- 52:40Speaker 2: so powerful. So I really loved that.
- 52:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 52:44Speaker 2: Because they really, like, they played into all of the
- 52:47Speaker 2: expectations that we expect with superhero movies. There's some sort of...
- 52:50Speaker 2: New serum or new power-up thing, right? So I thought
- 52:53Speaker 2: that was great. And to each their own. I totally
- 52:55Speaker 2: get it being something that someone might not. But I
- 53:00Speaker 2: really enjoyed that a lot. The fan service was amazing.
- 53:05Speaker 2: We got Frank Castle in an MCU movie. We got...
- 53:10Speaker 2: really big scary Hulk again because the MCU has been
- 53:13Speaker 2: huge MCU's been doing Hulk a little dirty since Ragnarok
- 53:17Speaker 2: you know sort of like a weaker toned down version
- 53:20Speaker 2: of him and we got like big scary monster Hulk
- 53:24Speaker 2: which was really fun to see again um and then
- 53:30Speaker 2: let's see I mean Oh, I love this is a
- 53:32Speaker 2: funny little thing. I loved, I said this to you, Bugues,
- 53:34Speaker 2: his like New York accent developing over the course of
- 53:37Speaker 2: the time.
- 53:38Speaker 5: Yeah, that was so interesting.
- 53:39Speaker 4: But it was just kind of like little bits. It
- 53:41Speaker 4: was like, what is he doing?
- 53:43Speaker 2: He's not coming out like, hey, what are you talking about?
- 53:45Speaker 2: But it was like just enough. You're like, this dude's
- 53:47Speaker 2: been living in the city now on his own. interacting
- 53:50Speaker 2: with New Yorkers. And that's going to happen. If you,
- 53:54Speaker 2: you're not a kid anymore. You're not in high school
- 53:55Speaker 2: over in Queens. You're in proper Manhattan with the people
- 53:59Speaker 2: of New York. And I love that subtle nod to
- 54:01Speaker 2: his accent changing and developing over time. Like that course
- 54:04Speaker 2: of that four years, it was really fun.
- 54:06Speaker 3: Like a subtle little thing.
- 54:07Speaker 2: Um, and then like to just top it all off,
- 54:10Speaker 2: this is the other thing that my last bit here
- 54:12Speaker 2: from Facebook, people being like, what are we talking about guys?
- 54:16Speaker 2: The final handshake with Ned was such a lovely little moment.
- 54:19Speaker 3: Um, Yes.
- 54:20Speaker 2: Because he takes a leap.
- 54:21Speaker 5: Right.
- 54:22Speaker 2: And he kind of listens to his own his own
- 54:25Speaker 2: narrative that he spoke to Jean about inside the like
- 54:29Speaker 2: the Aunt May memory moment.
- 54:31Speaker 3: Right. That scene.
- 54:32Speaker 2: And he's like, I can't do this alone. And these
- 54:34Speaker 2: people might not remember who I remember everything we've been
- 54:37Speaker 2: through and who I am to them in the past.
- 54:41Speaker 2: But can we forge like a new relationship moving forward?
- 54:43Speaker 2: Maybe he and MJ find romance again. That'd be lovely.
- 54:47Speaker 2: Maybe not. I don't know. That remains to be seen.
- 54:49Speaker 2: But with Ned, his homie, like, dude, the scene where
- 54:53Speaker 2: they're building the Legos together and he's in the costume,
- 54:55Speaker 2: I was like.
- 54:56Speaker 3: This is.
- 54:56Speaker 2: You can't do this to me. This is so sweet
- 55:00Speaker 2: and sad. I was, like, dying during that moment trying
- 55:04Speaker 2: to hold back the tears because it was, like, really
- 55:06Speaker 2: cute and sad and sweet. And he goes up and
- 55:09Speaker 2: he introduces himself and the handshake and, like, this, like,
- 55:13Speaker 2: little twinge of, like, whoa, wait a sec, there's, like.
- 55:16Speaker 3: Peter?
- 55:16Speaker 2: Peter? There's a little, there's something there, right? And so
- 55:19Speaker 2: the thing that Facebook people were doing is like, see, the.
- 55:22Speaker 3: Spell didn't work.
- 55:23Speaker 2: Ned remembered him. And it's like, no, Ned didn't remember Peter.
- 55:27Speaker 2: Muscle memory kicked in with this handshake that they'd done
- 55:30Speaker 2: a thousand times because Doctor Strange's spell didn't erase a handshake.
- 55:35Speaker 2: It erased who Peter Parker is. So the recognition of
- 55:38Speaker 2: the name comes from when MJ says Peter as he
- 55:42Speaker 2: jumps out the window, but he's in Spidey. He's in
- 55:44Speaker 2: a Spidey outfit. So then he goes, I'm Peter. And
- 55:48Speaker 2: Ned goes, oh, handshake recognition. There's something here. Like, I
- 55:52Speaker 2: don't know who you are, but there's something good here
- 55:55Speaker 2: between us. There's good vibes. So that was the obvious
- 55:58Speaker 2: takeaway for any of us with brains in our skulls.
- 56:01Speaker 2: But a huge portion of Facebook was like in vehement
- 56:05Speaker 2: argument about. whether or not he actually remembered who peter
- 56:08Speaker 2: was and like that would literally defeat the entire purpose
- 56:10Speaker 2: of this whole movie and like cheapen the whole emotional
- 56:13Speaker 2: journey that peter goes on but um i love that
- 56:16Speaker 2: because it either sets us up for future heartbreak if
- 56:20Speaker 2: ned goes down a negative path and a villainous path
- 56:22Speaker 2: which let's hope not rob says no thank you again.
- 56:26Speaker 5: Definitely still in i don't want that listen.
- 56:29Speaker 2: Up sony rob lundquist says don't do that please anybody
- 56:33Speaker 2: but ned not ned um Yeah, this movie freaking rocked, guys.
- 56:37Speaker 2: It rocked.
- 56:39Speaker 3: Love it.
- 56:39Speaker 5: It was so good. God takes, bud.
- 56:42Speaker 3: Love it. Well, should we talk about our favorite acting performance?
- 56:44Speaker 3: Shall we name the dude? The dude.
- 56:47Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 56:48Speaker 3: I'm the dude. So that's what you call me, you know?
- 56:52Speaker 2: That or his dudeness or duder or, you know, El Duderino, if.
- 56:58Speaker 3: You're not into the whole brevity thing. Riley, you want
- 57:00Speaker 3: to go first? I mean.
- 57:02Speaker 2: I talked a lot a second ago, so I'll talk
- 57:04Speaker 2: a lot less right now. Tom Holland, he stole the show. He, like,
- 57:09Speaker 2: he's always, from the first moment that he stepped on
- 57:13Speaker 2: screen with Underoos, you know, and, like, that whole, like,
- 57:16Speaker 2: he just embodied this. He was born to play this character.
- 57:19Speaker 2: I mean, the passion in his, like, in his, what
- 57:22Speaker 2: do you call him, his little videos that he sent in, like,
- 57:25Speaker 2: for casting and stuff, his audition videos, and embodying the
- 57:28Speaker 2: physicality and the, like, acrobatics of this character. This guy
- 57:32Speaker 2: was born to play this character, and it has never
- 57:35Speaker 2: shined more than this movie. Like, for not just Spidey,
- 57:39Speaker 2: but for Peter Parker. Like, this was Peter Parker's movie.
- 57:43Speaker 2: And it was really, really special to see him just
- 57:48Speaker 2: knock it out of the park.
- 57:50Speaker 3: So great.
- 57:50Speaker 2: I have, like, no notes. Not that he needs my notes,
- 57:53Speaker 2: but no notes. You know what I mean?
- 57:56Speaker 3: Hands down.
- 57:56Speaker 2: I mean, there's incredible supporting roles in this, but it's...
- 58:02Speaker 2: Cut and dry.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Boom.
- 58:04Speaker 3: Love it.
- 58:04Speaker 5: Yes. Yeah. Everything you said. I don't think anybody does
- 58:11Speaker 5: a scene better where they're like about to die. Him. Seriously.
- 58:17Speaker 5: His back.
- 58:18Speaker 4: I don't think anybody does it better than that.
- 58:20Speaker 3: That and him just welling up with tears. Like he's
- 58:23Speaker 3: so good at that. I think I said that in
- 58:25Speaker 3: the Odyssey one.
- 58:26Speaker 5: But like when he gets hit with the bullet and
- 58:29Speaker 5: he's like, I'm okay. I'm okay.
- 58:31Speaker 4: And then just drops.
- 58:32Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:32Speaker 5: You're just like, he.
- 58:33Speaker 4: Does that so well, dude.
- 58:36Speaker 2: Yep. Yep.
- 58:37Speaker 5: But he does so many things so well. Um, And
- 58:40Speaker 5: he really jacked up. Yeah, he was huge.
- 58:44Speaker 4: He significantly. I was just like, holy cow, dude.
- 58:48Speaker 2: That first sort of like, oops, I'm in my underwear
- 58:50Speaker 2: hanging from my gross organic webs in the alleyways.
- 58:54Speaker 5: Like, oh, man.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Wow. OK, so let's look at all those.
- 58:58Speaker 5: I guess I'm in my boxers again.
- 59:00Speaker 2: Look at all those geometric shapes and lines on your
- 59:02Speaker 2: body now, bud.
- 59:02Speaker 5: Insanity.
- 59:03Speaker 3: I would never wear clothes again if I looked like that.
- 59:07Speaker 5: Not a chance.
- 59:08Speaker 3: Nope.
- 59:09Speaker 2: You guys would be seeing, I would be rocking this
- 59:13Speaker 2: self-made tank top.
- 59:14Speaker 3: What's up?
- 59:14Speaker 5: Hey, guys. What's happening?
- 59:16Speaker 3: My spider mutation gene is taking over. Ooh, I love it.
- 59:21Speaker 5: I love it.
- 59:21Speaker 4: No, he's the best. What do you got, Bukes?
- 59:24Speaker 5: Well, this one's a little, you know, out of right field.
- 59:28Speaker 4: Left field?
- 59:29Speaker 3: Left field.
- 59:30Speaker 5: Left field.
- 59:31Speaker 3: But, well, I guess it is left field because I
- 59:33Speaker 3: chose the left eyebrow of Tom Holland.
- 59:35Speaker 5: There it is.
- 59:38Speaker 3: I feel so awkward about it now. I just think
- 59:41Speaker 3: it toughs up in a very special way.
- 59:43Speaker 5: I really love it. Yeah. Yeah.
- 59:46Speaker 3: No, I also picked Tom Holland for all the reasons
- 59:48Speaker 3: you guys said. I think he's just spectacular in this.
- 59:52Speaker 3: He plays that little hot dog boy so well, but
- 59:54Speaker 3: he also is like so funny, so quippy, the physicality,
- 59:59Speaker 3: all of it.
- 59:59Speaker 2: The balance. It's a crazy balance because like I said too,
- 1:00:02Speaker 2: like whether it's Frank and he and Frank's interactions are so, like, special.
- 1:00:07Speaker 2: And him and all these, like, low-level villains, including Scorpion
- 1:00:10Speaker 2: and Tombstone and all these great little characters that make their, like,
- 1:00:13Speaker 2: these fun moments to, like, the heavy emotional stuff. Like,
- 1:00:17Speaker 2: we go through, like, like, all the stages of grief.
- 1:00:21Speaker 3: Like, right? Like, heartbreak.
- 1:00:23Speaker 2: He gets, like, when the kind of the spider gene
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: takes over, he's in this, like, rage spider form.
- 1:00:29Speaker 5: Like, that's new.
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: That's new. And it was.
- 1:00:32Speaker 4: And he really, like.
- 1:00:34Speaker 2: took over that like uncontrolled version of himself, like was
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: really impressive and different.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: For, for him.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: And yeah, the range was nuts in this movie for him.
- 1:00:43Speaker 3: And that, I will say having, since I rewatched the,
- 1:00:47Speaker 3: you know, the trilogy before this, right. The, the, seeing him,
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: him himself and the character, both like they've matured so
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: much over these movies. And that was really cool. And
- 1:01:00Speaker 3: it was fun to see this character and him acting
- 1:01:02Speaker 3: it so well, uh, being like, he still does need
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: help and needs others around him, but, He also has
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: a ton of help to offer now. Right. For other people,
- 1:01:10Speaker 3: for Jean Grey or, you know, whoever else, whoever else
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: needs help.
- 1:01:14Speaker 2: He's starting to mentor others.
- 1:01:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:01:16Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: Which is great. Such an important part of Spidey.
- 1:01:19Speaker 2: So I mean, like the age, the age. Sorry about
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: the age. The time jump made like their collective ages match.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Yeah. The actors age makes more sense.
- 1:01:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: So they're not like they're.
- 1:01:30Speaker 5: Not 29 years old. Yeah.
- 1:01:31Speaker 3: We got we got like 22, 23 year olds now.
- 1:01:36Speaker 2: And it makes more sense, and you can see the
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: maturity clearly on all of them.
- 1:01:41Speaker 3: Really great. Yeah. But yeah, so clean sweep for Mr.
- 1:01:45Speaker 3: Holland and whichever eyebrow he prefers. But let's go talk
- 1:01:48Speaker 3: about everybody else. Let's name the Tucci. The Tucci Award.
- 1:01:54Speaker 3: The Tucci.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: The Tucci. This one gets more tough because there was...
- 1:01:59Speaker 2: So really stellar supporting.
- 1:02:01Speaker 5: This is a coin flip of.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: Like varying levels of like involvement, you know, like I
- 1:02:08Speaker 2: really am so glad that we still got Aunt May
- 1:02:10Speaker 2: in this in the sort of like mentorship capacity and
- 1:02:14Speaker 2: memory version of her, like because to me is just
- 1:02:18Speaker 2: was perfect as Aunt May.
- 1:02:19Speaker 3: She's the best.
- 1:02:21Speaker 2: Man, it is really a toss up.
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: I mean, like. MJ is.
- 1:02:27Speaker 2: For me, it's hard to not pick Zendaya because, again,
- 1:02:31Speaker 2: such a different, like, version of this character to have
- 1:02:37Speaker 2: to hop into after so many years of developing such
- 1:02:41Speaker 2: a close, special relationship with Peter Parker and stuff. And
- 1:02:44Speaker 2: getting to act with her real-life partner and husband now, like,
- 1:02:48Speaker 2: has got to be super fun and special. And just, like, really, yeah,
- 1:02:53Speaker 2: very impressively embodying who MJ, like, was. Yeah. pre-Peter's influence
- 1:03:00Speaker 2: and relationship development, right? It's really cool to see her and, like,
- 1:03:04Speaker 2: Ned kind of, like, hop back in time as, like,
- 1:03:07Speaker 2: who they used to be. But then Sadie Sink really crushed,
- 1:03:12Speaker 2: really crushed as Jean.
- 1:03:14Speaker 5: She crushed.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: And, like, no surprise that Bernthal is just the perfect Punisher.
- 1:03:21Speaker 2: Absolutely brutal and just damaged human being, you know?
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: And.
- 1:03:28Speaker 2: And what a fun like antithesis to who Peter Parker is.
- 1:03:34Speaker 2: And like their banter was just so great. And I
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: was so confused because I didn't catch the Punisher special,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: like the hour-long special yet.
- 1:03:42Speaker 5: Same.
- 1:03:43Speaker 2: Because it's like wildly not.
- 1:03:45Speaker 4: That's the Staten Island thing. I don't think so. That
- 1:03:47Speaker 4: they keep referencing.
- 1:03:47Speaker 5: No, it's not.
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: The Staten Island thing is, I think, sort of a
- 1:03:51Speaker 3: running thing like Budapest was. Yeah.
- 1:03:55Speaker 2: I was thinking, wow, I missed something huge. Same. And really,
- 1:03:59Speaker 2: just like you said, was like this reference to something
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: that nobody has seen before. And I actually liked that more,
- 1:04:05Speaker 2: you know? Because I'm thinking, how did none of us
- 1:04:08Speaker 2: hear about the fact that Spidey made a cameo in
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: the Punisher special, right?
- 1:04:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:04:13Speaker 3: That Punisher special is crazy. I know. I really want
- 1:04:16Speaker 3: to watch it. Sorry, Ro.
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: This is not one you get to see.
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: Yeah, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:04:23Speaker 2: I will be definitely waiting on that one with him.
- 1:04:26Speaker 2: But I really, I got to go with Zendaya as MJ.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: I just, I love the character. um, such a significant
- 1:04:36Speaker 2: part of the most significant character to Peter. Um, and,
- 1:04:41Speaker 2: and his, and his character growth, you know what I mean?
- 1:04:44Speaker 5: Like, yeah.
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: And some really heartbreaking stuff with like the emotional, like just,
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: I'm so sorry that I don't know who you are.
- 1:04:51Speaker 2: And that girl really seemingly cared about you. And that's
- 1:04:54Speaker 2: just not me. And it's just like, Oh no.
- 1:04:56Speaker 3: So I'm so glad they chose to do that. And
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: also was like, but maybe they just get back together.
- 1:05:02Speaker 2: But maybe now they forge a new relationship, possibly, and
- 1:05:05Speaker 2: that could be really cool. So I think I will
- 1:05:09Speaker 2: zip it, and I'm just going to choose MJ and Zendaya.
- 1:05:11Speaker 2: I don't think that's wrong.
- 1:05:13Speaker 3: I'm excited for you guys.
- 1:05:14Speaker 2: Thoughts, too, because there's a lot of other secondary characters
- 1:05:17Speaker 2: that we could go into.
- 1:05:18Speaker 5: Absolutely. And I was struggling, too, between the three people
- 1:05:22Speaker 5: that you were talking about. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I
- 1:05:25Speaker 5: would be happy with Zendaya getting it. Hell yeah. She
- 1:05:28Speaker 5: has impressed me so much in every single thing that
- 1:05:32Speaker 5: I've seen of hers. I think she is absolutely incredible
- 1:05:38Speaker 5: when she is. possessed by Jean Grey in that scene.
- 1:05:43Speaker 2: It's phenomenal.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: It's phenomenal what she can do.
- 1:05:47Speaker 3: Because it's so subtle, but also so obvious.
- 1:05:50Speaker 5: She can completely just change her whole face. Her eyes,
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: everything changed. I was so impressed.
- 1:05:59Speaker 4: How cool of an ability to have to tap into
- 1:06:01Speaker 4: the sort of.
- 1:06:09Speaker 2: Menacing nature of a different character. I mean, you can
- 1:06:13Speaker 2: say the same of almost anybody that was possessed by Jean,
- 1:06:15Speaker 2: which I think was actually true, quite impressively maintained from
- 1:06:19Speaker 2: random extra to random extra, like the energy and vibe
- 1:06:23Speaker 2: of Jean was conveyed very convincingly through every single person
- 1:06:27Speaker 2: that she was possessing. But Zendaya took it to a
- 1:06:31Speaker 2: totally different level. Like you said, like had had us
- 1:06:34Speaker 2: all fully tricked into thinking that that MJ was something
- 1:06:39Speaker 2: was clicking.
- 1:06:39Speaker 5: You know what I mean?
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: And made it all that much more like, oh, oh,
- 1:06:43Speaker 2: like just absolutely took me out of it when she
- 1:06:46Speaker 2: was like, is that whatever she says to him? And
- 1:06:49Speaker 2: then he's like, oh, no. Yeah.
- 1:06:52Speaker 3: Although I will say I was suspicious when they were
- 1:06:55Speaker 3: swinging and she wasn't freaking out because she hated the
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: swinging so much in previous movies. Oh, that's a good point.
- 1:07:00Speaker 5: Which is kind of a fun little thing.
- 1:07:02Speaker 2: Way to pay attention, Bugues. I didn't catch that.
- 1:07:05Speaker 3: I was too into just the moment. Yeah, for sure.
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: Sorry, Rob.
- 1:07:08Speaker 3: What were you going to say?
- 1:07:10Speaker 5: Nope. And yeah, so I'd be fine picking her as well.
- 1:07:14Speaker 5: I just loved the camaraderie between Jon Bernthal and Tom Holland.
- 1:07:19Speaker 5: So I was kind of going to go that way.
- 1:07:20Speaker 5: But I after talking about the.
- 1:07:22Speaker 2: Next biggest, the next biggest impact on Peter, like in
- 1:07:26Speaker 2: the movie, he was the next most significant, like, I think,
- 1:07:29Speaker 2: presence there. So it's a hard choice.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: Yeah, those two just love each other, too.
- 1:07:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: John Bernthal and Tom Holland, apparently. So great life. Dude, homies.
- 1:07:38Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:07:39Speaker 5: Yeah, just like best buds.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: I also love that they PG-13'd Punisher a little bit,
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: but also made Spidey a little bit more toward that.
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: They found a nice, happy medium where neither felt... They
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: felt like they were pushing their edges, but not totally
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: going out of character, which I thought was really fun.
- 1:07:58Speaker 5: I mean, let's be real.
- 1:07:59Speaker 2: The most unrealistic thing about the MCU at large... is
- 1:08:04Speaker 2: that no one's dropping F-bombs and cussing as much as
- 1:08:07Speaker 2: they would and should be in the circumstances they find
- 1:08:10Speaker 2: themselves in.
- 1:08:11Speaker 3: Or maybe just that people still live in New York
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: City at all. Like, that's... Get out of here, guys.
- 1:08:17Speaker 2: I'm moving upstate, baby.
- 1:08:19Speaker 4: I'm moving upstate.
- 1:08:20Speaker 3: You gotta get out of here. I love your guys' picks.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: I think... I would have chose between those two, too.
- 1:08:30Speaker 3: And I also was just kind of like, I guess
- 1:08:32Speaker 3: I'll feel it out because I don't have a strong.
- 1:08:34Speaker 3: Sadie Sink was incredible. Agreed on that as well.
- 1:08:37Speaker 2: But like you said, Rob, it was kind of a
- 1:08:39Speaker 2: slow first act. And so she doesn't start trickling in
- 1:08:42Speaker 2: until like a third the way through the movie. Like,
- 1:08:45Speaker 2: so we don't even see her face until halfway through
- 1:08:47Speaker 2: or whatever.
- 1:08:48Speaker 5: So it's hard.
- 1:08:48Speaker 2: To give her that whole thing because her presence wasn't
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: as strong throughout the whole movie.
- 1:08:54Speaker 5: So, yeah. But when she was in, she crushed that.
- 1:08:57Speaker 2: But when she was in, she was locked in. Yeah.
- 1:08:59Speaker 3: Yep. Florence Pugh playing Yelena is an absolute charisma bomb,
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: and she works with everyone.
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: And I.
- 1:09:09Speaker 3: I she could be in every single thing for all
- 1:09:12Speaker 3: time and I would love it.
- 1:09:14Speaker 2: She needs to be the new like the new Phil
- 1:09:16Speaker 2: Coulson slash Nick Fury of where she's just always making
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: little moments and cameos. That was some of the best
- 1:09:22Speaker 2: dialogue of the entire damn movie was those little bathhouse scenes.
- 1:09:26Speaker 3: I loved it so much.
- 1:09:27Speaker 2: So funny.
- 1:09:28Speaker 3: So great. Yeah. Just everything about those was just so fun.
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: I just love her. So dearly. Uh, Ned, what was
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: his name again? Sorry. I know he said it.
- 1:09:36Speaker 4: Jacob Badalan.
- 1:09:37Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:09:38Speaker 3: Always love him. I feel like he wasn't in it
- 1:09:41Speaker 3: as much or in it as the same, like hard
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: character because of the plot, you know, it wasn't his fault. Um,
- 1:09:48Speaker 3: but yeah, just seeing that. Also, did you guys pick
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: up who was the voiceover for that awful spider molting video?
- 1:09:55Speaker 5: I had. I was like, that sounds like him.
- 1:09:58Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:09:59Speaker 5: I didn't see it until today.
- 1:10:00Speaker 2: Tell me. Tell me.
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: Tell me.
- 1:10:01Speaker 4: But I did have a.
- 1:10:01Speaker 2: Do you want to save it for the for the trivia?
- 1:10:05Speaker 3: No, I don't think we need to. Maybe I should,
- 1:10:07Speaker 3: but I'm not going to. Keith David was the voice.
- 1:10:10Speaker 3: And he, of course, is the how to get the
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Frank above the beans guy from.
- 1:10:14Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:10:15Speaker 5: Such a distinctive voice. He also voiced the bad guy
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: in Princess and the Frog. So I know his voice.
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: Oh, I still haven't seen that.
- 1:10:24Speaker 2: Is he Facilier in that movie? He's Dr.
- 1:10:26Speaker 5: Facilier? Yeah.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:27Speaker 3: You haven't seen Princess and the Frog? He was also
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: Goliath in Gargoyles. If you ever watch that. back in
- 1:10:31Speaker 3: the day?
- 1:10:32Speaker 2: No. Did you say you haven't seen Princess and the Frog?
- 1:10:35Speaker 3: No, I missed Princess and the Frog somehow.
- 1:10:37Speaker 4: I hadn't until.
- 1:10:39Speaker 5: We had the kiddos and we were going back and
- 1:10:41Speaker 5: watching all of them. And that's like my fave.
- 1:10:43Speaker 3: I know, and Rob has brought it up so many times.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: I'm sure I would love it. You would? And I
- 1:10:47Speaker 3: don't even have a good reason for why.
- 1:10:49Speaker 2: You have no reason not to. The music is incredible.
- 1:10:51Speaker 5: The characters are amazing.
- 1:10:52Speaker 2: Music is so good. And that villain.
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: It's all that New Orleans stuff, right?
- 1:10:55Speaker 5: Yeah, maybe.
- 1:10:56Speaker 2: All that jazzy Bayou goodness. And then Facilier is a
- 1:11:00Speaker 2: wonderful villain.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: I really do need to check that out put it
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: on the list for sure but yeah and then guys
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: I know we said it but Marisa Tomei I mean.
- 1:11:14Speaker 2: Give me dream sequence Aunt May any day.
- 1:11:17Speaker 3: Yeah if this were a different time or a place
- 1:11:20Speaker 3: I would worship her as a goddess without any issue
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: at all she's the best she's.
- 1:11:25Speaker 2: The perfect she's been the perfect Aunt May from day
- 1:11:27Speaker 2: one both in like like a woman living in new
- 1:11:33Speaker 2: york at that age raising a yes nephew on her
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: own kind of vibe so great from homecoming uh and
- 1:11:39Speaker 2: like people were oh yeah she's just not even but
- 1:11:42Speaker 2: she's absolutely the exact perfect age to have a 20
- 1:11:45Speaker 2: something year old nephew perfect and like because i love
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: we love nostalgic old aunt may from like the toby
- 1:11:51Speaker 2: movies but she was like way old to.
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: Have a nephew. She was like Great Aunt May.
- 1:11:57Speaker 2: Great Aunt May. And then Sally Field in the Amazing
- 1:11:59Speaker 2: Spider-Man movies was wonderful, but also still felt a little
- 1:12:02Speaker 2: bit on the older side, but a little bit better direction.
- 1:12:06Speaker 2: And then they're like, let's just be able to never
- 1:12:09Speaker 2: top ourselves again with Marisa Tomei.
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: She's breathtaking. She's so great. I love her so much.
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: I forgot, I don't know the actor's name, but... Homeslice
- 1:12:19Speaker 2: that played Metzger, who was kind of the actual.
- 1:12:21Speaker 5: Tramiel Tillman. Yeah!
- 1:12:24Speaker 3: Severance guy, right?
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: He's great from Severance, playing very similar characters. I have
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: not seen Severance, and.
- 1:12:29Speaker 2: I really want to see Severance. It looks frickin' rad.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: Oh, it's so good.
- 1:12:32Speaker 2: He was great in this as sort of our actual,
- 1:12:35Speaker 2: I guess... antagonist, not a villain, but he's like the
- 1:12:38Speaker 2: antagonist kind of, you know, like guy, obviously the, the,
- 1:12:41Speaker 2: the subversion of our expectations of who's the actual bad guy. Um,
- 1:12:45Speaker 2: we got a little bit of, of Ruffalo in there,
- 1:12:47Speaker 2: you know, that was great to see.
- 1:12:48Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12:49Speaker 2: Hulk is lovely. I liked the lady cop. I say that.
- 1:12:53Speaker 4: Sounds from the Bayer.
- 1:12:54Speaker 2: Yeah. She's from the Bayer, which is great.
- 1:12:56Speaker 5: Her name is Liza Colon Zayas.
- 1:12:59Speaker 2: She was your, the absolute perfect ground level, New York, uh,
- 1:13:04Speaker 2: like uh sergeant or you know like sort of like
- 1:13:07Speaker 2: lead of the of the nypd group that you know
- 1:13:09Speaker 2: is in his neck of the woods she was great
- 1:13:11Speaker 2: loved her relationship with him and the sort of like
- 1:13:14Speaker 2: you don't often see like the acceptance.
- 1:13:15Speaker 3: Of the hero by the police force.
- 1:13:17Speaker 2: It's usually like get him you know and everyone loves
- 1:13:21Speaker 2: spider-man right now in new york city so like even
- 1:13:23Speaker 2: the cops are like hey he's making our job a
- 1:13:25Speaker 2: little easier too like she was great i liked her
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: a lot yeah same and then like we got We
- 1:13:31Speaker 2: got our Scorpion guy back for a hot second, too.
- 1:13:33Speaker 3: Like that. Yeah.
- 1:13:34Speaker 2: They've been they've been sitting on that since Homecoming, like
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: the post credits with Homecoming, you know.
- 1:13:40Speaker 5: Right.
- 1:13:41Speaker 3: Michael Mando is his name. Mando.
- 1:13:43Speaker 5: He's great. Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 2: Just like a little, you know, tying up some loose
- 1:13:46Speaker 2: ends with cameos and stuff.
- 1:13:49Speaker 5: Dude, I didn't know Evie was voiced by Naomi Watts.
- 1:13:52Speaker 5: Didn't know that.
- 1:13:53Speaker 3: I didn't recognize her voice at all. Yeah.
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: No clue. Didn't clock that at all. That's great.
- 1:13:59Speaker 5: But that was everybody.
- 1:14:00Speaker 3: Terrible advice. Sensories are overloaded. Attention!
- 1:14:06Speaker 2: Hey!
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: Hey!
- 1:14:10Speaker 5: Well, let's move on. Let's pick our favorite scene and
- 1:14:12Speaker 5: let's choose the dingus.
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: The dingus.
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: So dingus is quite simple, really.
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: Dingus. Dingus. I could talk about my dingus all night long.
- 1:14:21Speaker 5: I'm going to kiss you, dingus.
- 1:14:22Speaker 3: What do you guys go first? Oh, okay. Because I
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: need to hear some thoughts.
- 1:14:26Speaker 2: I can't decide.
- 1:14:27Speaker 5: I need to hear some thoughts first. I did write
- 1:14:29Speaker 5: down six scenes, but I think my favorite is when
- 1:14:36Speaker 5: Peter's eyes go black and he says, I'm both. And
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: then takes out the hand with the like web tornado
- 1:14:44Speaker 5: and And, dude, the visuals in that are so insane.
- 1:14:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we get, like, bullet time, Peter Parker.
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: Yeah, dude, full Matrix stuff. Full Matrix.
- 1:14:55Speaker 5: That's when he's fighting the Handler.
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: And they're, like, jumping on top of each other and stuff. Yeah,
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: it's so cool.
- 1:15:02Speaker 5: It's so cool.
- 1:15:03Speaker 3: He breaks the swords when he says, you know, or
- 1:15:06Speaker 3: when he's like, I'm both.
- 1:15:08Speaker 2: Shatters a katana with his webs. Like, come on.
- 1:15:12Speaker 5: Incredible.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:15:14Speaker 5: Yeah, I was so pumped, dude. I loved that so much.
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: It's organic webs.
- 1:15:19Speaker 5: Remember in.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: No Way Home when they were like, that comes out
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: of your body? Yeah.
- 1:15:26Speaker 5: Where else does it come from?
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Does it come from other places?
- 1:15:31Speaker 2: Toby just like, I don't like talking about it, guys.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: It's making me a little uncomfortable.
- 1:15:35Speaker 5: I mean, that was another one that I wrote down
- 1:15:37Speaker 5: was just when he like sees the organic web shooting
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: out of his rest.
- 1:15:40Speaker 3: He's like, oh, great.
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: That was so funny.
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: A dry heap is always welcome in my house. It's
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: so funny.
- 1:15:48Speaker 5: It goes real far for me as well.
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: Same, same.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: Yeah, that's hard to beat that scene.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: It's hard to beat it.
- 1:15:57Speaker 2: It also catapults into the end sequence with Jean as well.
- 1:16:01Speaker 5: Which is amazing too. Can we tie those together?
- 1:16:05Speaker 3: Because then I'm a thousand percent in. You almost can't.
- 1:16:09Speaker 2: You can't help it. Because then that also not just
- 1:16:10Speaker 2: ties into the sequence with her, but into the emotional
- 1:16:13Speaker 2: Aunt May and Peter, like Peter dream sequence fusion, right?
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: Where he reaches out to Jean's emotions and stuff and
- 1:16:23Speaker 2: And he's.
- 1:16:23Speaker 3: Like, I don't know the right thing to say, so
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: let me have the most wonderful person I knew have
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: a talk with you. Oh, so great. Love that.
- 1:16:31Speaker 2: Just come on into my noggin for a second. You'll
- 1:16:34Speaker 2: get the best pep talk you've had.
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: Of your life.
- 1:16:36Speaker 2: That.
- 1:16:37Speaker 3: Those two together were one for me, 100%. That feels
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: connected and for sure. One we talked about when Jean
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: first jumps in to the person on the street and
- 1:16:48Speaker 3: then she's like, well, boy, MJ, you know, and she's like, Ned,
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: put the address on there. I'll race you across town
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: or whatever. And then they get there. He gets to MJ,
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: gets her up on the roof. And then we think
- 1:17:00Speaker 3: that they have reconciled.
- 1:17:01Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: But then she's like. touch her or whatever, like some
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: gross thing she.
- 1:17:05Speaker 5: Says, you know, whatever.
- 1:17:08Speaker 4: Such a weird, like, like, uh, you've wanted this for
- 1:17:11Speaker 4: so long.
- 1:17:12Speaker 3: It's so perfect though, as like a bad guy to
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: say that. Right. That was, that was her shift.
- 1:17:17Speaker 2: Jean at her worst, at her most villainous moment of
- 1:17:20Speaker 2: this movie was that scene.
- 1:17:21Speaker 5: Yeah, for sure.
- 1:17:22Speaker 2: Um, and I loved his in that sequence though. It
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: was very fun. His swinging around and, and Evie helping
- 1:17:28Speaker 2: him calculate, uh, These like velocities and like there's something
- 1:17:32Speaker 2: right there.
- 1:17:32Speaker 5: Yeah, that was cool.
- 1:17:33Speaker 2: He's got to figure it out because this was also
- 1:17:36Speaker 2: if I may jump into his Peter's character for a
- 1:17:39Speaker 2: sec again. We this was him at his absolute peak
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: intelligence level.
- 1:17:44Speaker 5: Yeah, like for sure.
- 1:17:45Speaker 2: This dude was MacGyver in every single friggin facet of
- 1:17:48Speaker 2: his life to be the best version of Spider-Man that
- 1:17:51Speaker 2: he could be. And, like, him being one of the
- 1:17:55Speaker 2: smartest guys in this world really came to the forefront.
- 1:18:00Speaker 2: And that was just a fun little, like.
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: I love that.
- 1:18:01Speaker 2: Little calculations, like, doing some measurements, and, oh, it's 30-whatever
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: feet of... You know, and then... But he, like, miscalculated
- 1:18:07Speaker 2: in some way, right? Because he stuck her up there
- 1:18:09Speaker 2: in that helicopter, and she figured out a way to
- 1:18:11Speaker 2: get out of there. Either she jumped back into her
- 1:18:13Speaker 2: own body and then went and found someone else again,
- 1:18:16Speaker 2: you know, or whatever happened.
- 1:18:17Speaker 5: Probably that.
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: Probably, but yeah.
- 1:18:18Speaker 2: But that scene was great. And then, like, I... we're
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: in agreement that the hand leading into Jean and her,
- 1:18:26Speaker 2: her explosive strength there. And that has some of the
- 1:18:28Speaker 2: best quotes to her whole, like her monologue at him
- 1:18:31Speaker 2: is great. So that's, that's definitely the winner, but dude,
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: Spidey and Punisher versus Hulk.
- 1:18:37Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: That's my runner up. That's my third one too.
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: That scene was like fan service galore. Like when he slides,
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: he's pulling Frank with webs as he's just good, good, good, good, good.
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: Screaming as the.
- 1:18:53Speaker 2: Best version of Hulk that we've had in a long
- 1:18:55Speaker 2: time is just flying over the top of him. And
- 1:18:57Speaker 2: it has one of my favorite quotes of the whole movie,
- 1:18:59Speaker 2: which we can get to in a sec. Uh, but
- 1:19:02Speaker 2: that was like chef's kiss. Cause Frank is so out
- 1:19:05Speaker 2: of his element and Spidey's out of his element in this.
- 1:19:09Speaker 2: Like he's, this is just like, it was such a great, like, uh,
- 1:19:14Speaker 2: you know, the inhibitor is not going to work and yada, yada,
- 1:19:16Speaker 2: just such a great scene. But the hand fight tying
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: into Jean and the emotional and the side and Peter's
- 1:19:24Speaker 2: Peter's sort of like stepping in front of the bullet
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: literally for her because he sees she's just like him,
- 1:19:30Speaker 2: you know, which is kind of Aunt May's whole shtick.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: You know, they're like, they're similar. They're just not in
- 1:19:35Speaker 2: the way that Jean thought. You know what I mean?
- 1:19:37Speaker 2: Jean thought they were similar in a different way, but
- 1:19:39Speaker 2: Peter showed her how they're actually similar and that they
- 1:19:42Speaker 2: just are lonely and need people to support them, you know?
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: Yeah, love that.
- 1:19:47Speaker 2: Ooh, God, I got to see it again, guys. I
- 1:19:49Speaker 2: only saw this the one time because I just don't
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: have the time to get.
- 1:19:52Speaker 5: Back in the theater. It's so freaking good.
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: Yeah, man.
- 1:19:54Speaker 5: I was really happy I was able to see it
- 1:19:56Speaker 5: again last night. So it's a little fresh.
- 1:20:00Speaker 3: Fresh on the mind. Well, let's just pick that one,
- 1:20:04Speaker 3: and let's go right into quotes. Should we show me
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: the money?
- 1:20:07Speaker 2: Show me the money! Cha-ching. I need to feel you, Jerry!
- 1:20:11Speaker 1: Show me the money!
- 1:20:12Speaker 5: Jerry, you better yell!
- 1:20:14Speaker 2: Show me the money!
- 1:20:15Speaker 3: All right, Riley, you want to say a couple?
- 1:20:17Speaker 2: Sure, I can go first this time, and I'll start with...
- 1:20:20Speaker 2: There's the favorite, like, funny, and then the favorite, like,
- 1:20:24Speaker 2: cuts deep. There's always kind of one. In these movies,
- 1:20:27Speaker 2: there's always a great emotional moment and then something funny.
- 1:20:30Speaker 2: And the funny one is, hands down, this is way
- 1:20:34Speaker 2: above your pay grade, Frank.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: So great. We're fighting the Hulk here. And then Frank's, oh,
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: sh * *. Like, not clocking how out of his
- 1:20:41Speaker 3: element he really is in this moment. And then Hulk
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: just proves.
- 1:20:45Speaker 2: How out of their element those guys are. So great.
- 1:20:49Speaker 2: just i mean frank literally has to dip out because
- 1:20:51Speaker 2: it's just not he can't he can't handle it he
- 1:20:54Speaker 2: can't which i love.
- 1:20:55Speaker 3: Are you really doing that or do you just want
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: to get out of fighting the whole thing yeah a
- 1:21:00Speaker 3: little bit a little.
- 1:21:01Speaker 2: Bit yeah it's like the first you don't ever see
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: fear from frank castle and you see a little.
- 1:21:06Speaker 3: Bit of he's got a gun against a guy who
- 1:21:09Speaker 3: can withstand a nuke i.
- 1:21:11Speaker 2: Mean he's clenching frank is clenching in this moment and
- 1:21:13Speaker 2: i'm gonna go check out the other chick the mind.
- 1:21:15Speaker 3: Control follow someone else and then she also is way
- 1:21:18Speaker 3: too strong for him.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: Yeah, she wipes the floor with him, too. She doesn't
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: stand a chance at all.
- 1:21:22Speaker 3: But him getting to act like Sadie Sink was also
- 1:21:25Speaker 3: very fun.
- 1:21:26Speaker 5: I loved that so much.
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: Yeah, that's what I mean. All these people that were
- 1:21:30Speaker 2: taken over by her for a moment had to embody
- 1:21:33Speaker 2: that same energy, and it was really, really well done.
- 1:21:37Speaker 2: I don't know if that's your... The director really just
- 1:21:42Speaker 2: honing in on that for everybody and making it important,
- 1:21:44Speaker 2: because it.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Could get really goofy. Yeah.
- 1:21:46Speaker 2: Eat quickly with different actors and different people playing it differently,
- 1:21:50Speaker 2: but it was really consistent.
- 1:21:51Speaker 5: His was the goofiest. He played it more like a,
- 1:21:55Speaker 5: like a girl. Yeah. When he's just.
- 1:21:58Speaker 4: Like, whoa, this guy's got issues.
- 1:22:01Speaker 2: Someone as hyper masculine as Bernthal's Frank Castle, it will
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: come across a little.
- 1:22:09Speaker 5: Bit like cheesy like that.
- 1:22:12Speaker 2: And then, yeah, like I think that, It's a long.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: Quote to read.
- 1:22:21Speaker 5: Is it the May one?
- 1:22:22Speaker 2: It's the whole May talk. The whole May talk leading
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: into Peter then sort of taking over and connecting with
- 1:22:29Speaker 2: her emotionally and stuff. It really just encompasses his whole
- 1:22:36Speaker 2: journey throughout the movie. And then it's that moment of
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: mentorship for this broken, lost, and lonely woman you know,
- 1:22:46Speaker 2: young woman who, like, just needs somebody to care about her.
- 1:22:53Speaker 2: And after loss, you know, and grief and stuff, and
- 1:22:57Speaker 2: it was really cool to see the Aunt May pivot
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: into the Peter, like, in that scene, too. It was
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: really cool. But maybe, I think, my favorite quote, and
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: you said it, Robb, to as far as leading into
- 1:23:12Speaker 2: our best scene, which feels pretty poignant, is her whole monologue,
- 1:23:16Speaker 2: Jean's monologue, villainous, like, to Peter, and then ending with,
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: are you Peter Parker or are you Spider-Man?
- 1:23:22Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:23:23Speaker 2: And he's like, F this, I'm both, Beezy, and, like,
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: just Rex, and it's like, the I'm both, like you said,
- 1:23:29Speaker 2: with the black eyes, and then the black going away,
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: and now he's truly balanced himself and Spider-Man in that moment,
- 1:23:37Speaker 2: and he's found that way to to walk that tightrope
- 1:23:41Speaker 2: that was just, like, chills down the spine, and then
- 1:23:44Speaker 2: you have no time to, like, recoil.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: It's, like, the coolest fight scene in the movie. It's, yeah. Yeah,
- 1:23:49Speaker 3: so great.
- 1:23:50Speaker 2: I would have to give that my, like, the most
- 1:23:52Speaker 2: impactful moment was that.
- 1:23:54Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: And then the funny Frank quote, and then the, like,
- 1:23:57Speaker 2: Aunt May monologue being sort of these alternate bookends to, like,
- 1:24:02Speaker 2: what the dialogue of this movie had to offer, which
- 1:24:04Speaker 2: was just nonstop great moments.
- 1:24:06Speaker 3: Love that.
- 1:24:07Speaker 5: Another quote that really got me hyped up was when
- 1:24:11Speaker 5: she realizes that she's super powerful and she was like,
- 1:24:16Speaker 5: the only hands that wield this power are mine.
- 1:24:22Speaker 2: Shatters the whole isolation room.
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:24:24Speaker 5: So cool. That was badass.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: We know Jean Grey.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: We've seen Jean Grey a few times and she's like
- 1:24:31Speaker 2: an extremely strong telepath and an extremely like extremely powerful person.
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: And so she was just this sort of like mind
- 1:24:41Speaker 2: control gal in this.
- 1:24:43Speaker 3: And I'm like, huh.
- 1:24:44Speaker 2: Interesting.
- 1:24:45Speaker 3: Very early powers.
- 1:24:47Speaker 2: This is very early Jean Grey. Oh, and then it
- 1:24:49Speaker 2: was like, there's the moment. There's the upgrade. Level up.
- 1:24:57Speaker 3: Also, presumably when she gets on maybe a school teacher's
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: radar in upstate New York. I would think so.
- 1:25:03Speaker 2: I would think that might get her on some radar.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: I know.
- 1:25:06Speaker 5: Maybe.
- 1:25:06Speaker 3: Who knows?
- 1:25:07Speaker 2: We'll have to talk about how the crap they're going
- 1:25:10Speaker 2: to seamlessly introduce the fact that these characters have been
- 1:25:13Speaker 2: in the background this whole time.
- 1:25:15Speaker 5: Yeah, it'll be a different thing.
- 1:25:17Speaker 3: Who knows? Yeah.
- 1:25:20Speaker 5: Another quote that I loved, and I felt like there
- 1:25:23Speaker 5: were funny moments, but not like a lot of funny
- 1:25:25Speaker 5: moments in this, but one that I did find very
- 1:25:27Speaker 5: funny was when he's at the party and Ned's like,
- 1:25:31Speaker 5: you two know each other? He's like, no, I'm a neighbor.
- 1:25:33Speaker 5: And she's a friendly neighbor.
- 1:25:35Speaker 4: And then he like spits up the coffee.
- 1:25:38Speaker 5: That was pretty great. I love it. I loved that.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: Nice little fan service there.
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: I loved uh pretty much anything yelena said.
- 1:25:48Speaker 2: Oh she's every word out of her like.
- 1:25:50Speaker 5: Small potato stuff where the new avengers are working on
- 1:25:53Speaker 5: big potatoes i liked all the potato talk for sure
- 1:25:59Speaker 5: i'm just and then later i'm just.
- 1:26:00Speaker 2: So happy the sad man has friends on.
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: Yes that was cute that was cute.
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: Or her like oh it's like a little bit patronizing
- 1:26:07Speaker 2: but also like actually heartfelt too.
- 1:26:10Speaker 5: And later on, I think, she's like, this is medium
- 1:26:13Speaker 5: potato stuff or something at some point. Yeah, medium potato.
- 1:26:17Speaker 3: That's for sure going to come up later, right?
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: The potato stuff?
- 1:26:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it'll be a recurring thing.
- 1:26:22Speaker 5: Has to. She also says, you know, you're not completely
- 1:26:25Speaker 5: anonymous anymore. I've seen your belly button.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: Yes, it's so funny.
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: You do a really good Yelena in Russian accent.
- 1:26:33Speaker 4: Hey, dude, she's got a deep voice.
- 1:26:35Speaker 5: She does have the deep. She's alto.
- 1:26:39Speaker 3: And, like, Alto through and through.
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: Big time.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: Like, sultry deep voice.
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: Oh, yeah. Yeah. I also like this random dude who
- 1:26:48Speaker 5: got possessed by Jean Grey. He's like, I don't remember
- 1:26:52Speaker 5: any of this stuff.
- 1:26:53Speaker 4: I would never hurt you. I love you, Spider-Man. He's like, okay, guy.
- 1:26:56Speaker 5: Okay, guy. Okay, thank you.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: I appreciate it.
- 1:26:59Speaker 5: The, like, Spidey fanboy soldier.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:27:01Speaker 5: That was pretty good. Okay, guy. I liked that.
- 1:27:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:27:04Speaker 5: Why don't you say something?
- 1:27:06Speaker 3: It's really funny. Also, just a random character. They make
- 1:27:10Speaker 3: a point to show the gal that lives in the
- 1:27:12Speaker 3: same building as him. When they get off the thing,
- 1:27:16Speaker 3: she's like, hey, we live on the same floor. And
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: he just goes, cool. Cool.
- 1:27:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:27:22Speaker 2: He promptly moves to the attic, moves all of his
- 1:27:25Speaker 2: stuff to the attic of the building.
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: And then later she's like, is that my shirt?
- 1:27:28Speaker 5: No.
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: No.
- 1:27:30Speaker 5: And then he tries to get the dog and the
- 1:27:33Speaker 5: dog is like. Yeah.
- 1:27:34Speaker 2: And then he's got her sweatpants on with Juicy on
- 1:27:37Speaker 2: the ass as well.
- 1:27:38Speaker 5: So great. That was good.
- 1:27:40Speaker 3: Another Yelena one. even your girlfriend or boyfriend, or she's like,
- 1:27:43Speaker 3: you never take your face mask off or whatever, like
- 1:27:46Speaker 3: the hat off. She's like, even your girlfriend or boyfriend
- 1:27:51Speaker 3: or whatever, there's a lot of conjecture online and super
- 1:27:55Speaker 3: graphic artwork.
- 1:27:56Speaker 5: Have you seen the one with you and 10 Mysterios?
- 1:28:00Speaker 3: That cracked me up so hard. And then you're like, yeah,
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: I've seen it. Super graphic artwork.
- 1:28:05Speaker 5: It's hard to unsee it, actually.
- 1:28:08Speaker 2: That was one where I'm like, This one's going to
- 1:28:10Speaker 2: go over Rowan's head, and that's okay.
- 1:28:11Speaker 5: Yeah, that's all right.
- 1:28:13Speaker 3: He'll get it later. Speaking of his... Oh, go ahead.
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: I was going to say, speaking of another mask quote,
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: and this one's a little more heartfelt, but it's during that, like,
- 1:28:23Speaker 2: when he is bringing MJ to Frank's, like, boat hideout,
- 1:28:27Speaker 2: you know what I mean? And Frank kind of... I
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: think it's then, maybe, where Frank goes into a little
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: bit of a monologue about When he's, you know, Peter's
- 1:28:35Speaker 2: asking him to have MJ and he says, it's like,
- 1:28:37Speaker 2: if I had one second, people I love were still breathing.
- 1:28:40Speaker 2: you think I'd be hiding behind a mask yeah I
- 1:28:42Speaker 2: think I'd pretend to be something I'm not acting like
- 1:28:44Speaker 2: a goddamn coward I was like yes bring it Frank
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: come on like just that that like just grizzled damaged
- 1:28:53Speaker 2: you know person this guy is but then still willing
- 1:28:55Speaker 2: to help out because of Staten Island you know so.
- 1:28:59Speaker 3: Yeah It's a good and you think it's you think
- 1:29:02Speaker 3: Frank is like wishing Spidey would be more like him,
- 1:29:05Speaker 3: but he's not actually like it comes out at the
- 1:29:08Speaker 3: end that he's like, no, that you can move on
- 1:29:10Speaker 3: is incredible, you know?
- 1:29:12Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:12Speaker 3: Or not move on, but not be this thing.
- 1:29:15Speaker 5: You can cope.
- 1:29:15Speaker 3: Yeah, you can cope and you can exist. Yeah.
- 1:29:19Speaker 5: I loved this MJ moment.
- 1:29:20Speaker 3: It felt like old school MJ when she's like, God,
- 1:29:22Speaker 3: there's like 50 people in our apartment. Statistically, that means
- 1:29:25Speaker 3: at least two of them are sociopaths.
- 1:29:27Speaker 5: Which is cool.
- 1:29:28Speaker 3: I just loved that little moment of her weirdness.
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: And another MJ moment is when she tries to grab
- 1:29:33Speaker 2: Frank's picture, the picture of his family, and he's like,
- 1:29:36Speaker 2: get the hell away from that. Look, I got one
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: rule in this house. You don't touch anything, you don't
- 1:29:40Speaker 2: move anything, and you sure as shit don't ask me
- 1:29:42Speaker 2: any goddamn questions about anything.
- 1:29:44Speaker 3: So, three rules. Yeah.
- 1:29:47Speaker 2: And it's like such a wise.
- 1:29:49Speaker 5: I see why you like. I love that.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: I see.
- 1:29:51Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 2: Yeah. So her her like old school MJ stuff was
- 1:29:55Speaker 2: really fun in this movie because of that, like broody
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: sort of sassiness that she used to have is really great.
- 1:30:03Speaker 3: I love that. Frank says something about MJ. him going
- 1:30:09Speaker 3: and making sure Peter's okay. And Peter's like, she said
- 1:30:12Speaker 3: to do that. And he just goes, are you blushing daffodil?
- 1:30:15Speaker 5: Yeah. Good. I love that so much.
- 1:30:19Speaker 3: So great. Uh, also the, the joy in my heart
- 1:30:23Speaker 3: that I thought couldn't get bigger, uh, grew a hundred
- 1:30:27Speaker 3: times when we had a Lord of the Rings reference
- 1:30:29Speaker 3: in this movie.
- 1:30:30Speaker 5: And it's Ned going, all right, then keep your secrets. Oh, yes.
- 1:30:36Speaker 3: I loved it so much. Good call. That went over
- 1:30:38Speaker 3: my head a little bit.
- 1:30:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:30:39Speaker 3: Loved it.
- 1:30:40Speaker 4: Well, and then he says the next thing, too, right?
- 1:30:41Speaker 4: And then they're like, oh, great reference.
- 1:30:43Speaker 5: Don't they actually say that? Yeah, what else does he say?
- 1:30:45Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:30:47Speaker 3: I don't remember.
- 1:30:48Speaker 2: Is that when they're, like, building Legos and stuff? It's
- 1:30:50Speaker 2: that whole, just, like, neural sequence, which arguably is up
- 1:30:53Speaker 2: there for best scene in my book just.
- 1:30:55Speaker 5: Because I was, like, I was just, like, dying.
- 1:30:58Speaker 3: Like, you should tell him.
- 1:31:00Speaker 5: He can handle it.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: He can handle it. So cute.
- 1:31:02Speaker 2: It's like she knows Ned so well, too.
- 1:31:05Speaker 3: And he does at the end, I guess, which is fun. Also,
- 1:31:09Speaker 3: before Peter goes and fights the guys on the island,
- 1:31:12Speaker 3: he's like, all right, just give me a sec. I'm
- 1:31:14Speaker 3: not in high school anymore. You stretcher. You big stretcher.
- 1:31:17Speaker 5: You big stretcher.
- 1:31:18Speaker 3: So good for you.
- 1:31:21Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 1:31:23Speaker 2: And they're all just like guns in hand.
- 1:31:24Speaker 3: Just looking at.
- 1:31:25Speaker 5: Him like waiting. What?
- 1:31:27Speaker 2: Letting him limber up.
- 1:31:30Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: And then you have me, which we said for scene,
- 1:31:34Speaker 3: but that line just got me.
- 1:31:35Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:31:36Speaker 2: Such a cut deep moment. And to circle back to
- 1:31:39Speaker 2: the funny thing we were talking about, he's all right.
- 1:31:42Speaker 2: Organic whips.
- 1:31:43Speaker 3: Peter two had him.
- 1:31:44Speaker 2: He was cool.
- 1:31:45Speaker 5: He was cool. He was cool. You're cool. You're cool.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: And then he does it.
- 1:31:50Speaker 3: And then the like the heaving. So funny.
- 1:31:52Speaker 5: Peter two. He was cool. You're cool.
- 1:31:59Speaker 3: You're cool. The self-hype talk is so good. Yeah, so great.
- 1:32:04Speaker 3: Friggin' movie was great, guys.
- 1:32:06Speaker 5: It was great.
- 1:32:07Speaker 2: Each segment we're ending with this movie was great.
- 1:32:09Speaker 5: It was great.
- 1:32:10Speaker 2: How many times did Bugues cry?
- 1:32:12Speaker 5: Yes, and yeah, people should read that whole May quote
- 1:32:16Speaker 5: because it is really beautiful. Yeah, it's lovely.
- 1:32:19Speaker 4: But it's really long.
- 1:32:19Speaker 5: It is long, yeah.
- 1:32:21Speaker 4: Bugues Boohoo moments.
- 1:32:22Speaker 5: Wah, wah, wah. The crying game.
- 1:32:24Speaker 3: Wah, wah, wah.
- 1:32:26Speaker 5: I picked nine. I bet there's more than that, but
- 1:32:29Speaker 5: here's the nine that I picked. We'll get going. Opening
- 1:32:34Speaker 5: montage of him watching MJ and Ned on social media
- 1:32:36Speaker 5: while he's clearly very lonely.
- 1:32:38Speaker 3: Thousand percent. Too real.
- 1:32:41Speaker 5: There's probably some in between this time, but when he
- 1:32:44Speaker 5: sees MJ kiss her boyfriend and then it's a bunch
- 1:32:46Speaker 5: of flashbacks of them as friends over the years.
- 1:32:48Speaker 3: Yes, yes.
- 1:32:50Speaker 5: Uh, when MJ says she figures out that they used
- 1:32:54Speaker 5: to be more and they kiss and then we find
- 1:32:56Speaker 5: out it's actually Jean. Yeah.
- 1:32:58Speaker 3: Touch her. That sucked. You've wanted it for so long.
- 1:33:02Speaker 3: Oh God.
- 1:33:03Speaker 5: True loves kiss and like star cross lovers. She would
- 1:33:07Speaker 5: puke or whatever it is. Um, when MJ finds the
- 1:33:10Speaker 5: letter and says she doesn't love him because she doesn't
- 1:33:12Speaker 5: remember the spell worked.
- 1:33:14Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:33:15Speaker 5: It's heartbreaking.
- 1:33:16Speaker 3: Brutal.
- 1:33:18Speaker 5: Um, the scene that Riley just mentioned when they're, they're
- 1:33:20Speaker 5: all hanging out in the apartment when he's hanging with
- 1:33:22Speaker 5: Ned and MJ.
- 1:33:23Speaker 3: Absolutely.
- 1:33:23Speaker 5: That was tough.
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: That was a tough one.
- 1:33:26Speaker 3: Loved it so much.
- 1:33:28Speaker 5: Um, when May talks to Jean and Peter's mind. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:33:35Speaker 3: And you're right. That whole line is just so good.
- 1:33:37Speaker 2: It's so good.
- 1:33:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:38Speaker 2: It's just like 19 sentences long. So I was like,
- 1:33:40Speaker 2: maybe we'll just save it for, go read it, go
- 1:33:42Speaker 2: read it. Everybody watch the movie.
- 1:33:45Speaker 5: Um, I have no one.
- 1:33:47Speaker 4: You have me.
- 1:33:48Speaker 3: You have me. Got me so good.
- 1:33:52Speaker 5: Frank crying at the hospital with him.
- 1:33:56Speaker 3: Hold on. Hold on.
- 1:33:56Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:33:57Speaker 3: Oh, further.
- 1:33:58Speaker 5: Yeah, I skipped over. I mean, I'm not. Scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll, scroll.
- 1:34:08Speaker 4: Or maybe not.
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: No, it did. I think I kind of combined that with,
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: like you said earlier, Rob Tom Holland dying. Like, he's
- 1:34:15Speaker 3: so good.
- 1:34:16Speaker 5: When he's doing the, I'm okay, I'm okay. I'm okay.
- 1:34:19Speaker 3: And then it's into Frank's arms, and then they're in
- 1:34:21Speaker 3: the hospital.
- 1:34:21Speaker 2: You know what it felt like? It felt like him...
- 1:34:24Speaker 2: pre-dust when he recognized.
- 1:34:25Speaker 4: Me 100 i'm saying.
- 1:34:28Speaker 3: He really he like.
- 1:34:29Speaker 2: You said that dude knows how to die on camera.
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: Or almost unbelievable but also so perfect that he was
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: trying to make sure that gene was okay in that
- 1:34:38Speaker 3: moment not himself.
- 1:34:39Speaker 2: Like yeah he's a hero through and through it incredible yes.
- 1:34:43Speaker 5: And the last one i had was just uh they
- 1:34:46Speaker 5: do their handshake and ned is just like doing it
- 1:34:49Speaker 5: hell yeah just like Yeah.
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: Hell yeah. It's there.
- 1:34:52Speaker 5: And then he remembers Peter and the spell never worked.
- 1:34:56Speaker 2: And it was all a dream in the end, guys.
- 1:34:58Speaker 5: Oh, it was Rob on Facebook. I get it.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: It was Rob on all his ghost accounts. All of
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: his ghost accounts on Facebook.
- 1:35:06Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: Rage baiting me specifically.
- 1:35:11Speaker 5: Those are the ones I put down, but I'm assuming
- 1:35:13Speaker 5: there's more.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: Yeah, there's no.
- 1:35:14Speaker 5: Reason to belabor this.
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: Should I just tell you more?
- 1:35:17Speaker 2: Because I felt like I had one more and I
- 1:35:18Speaker 2: couldn't think now.
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: What it was. Do you have one more?
- 1:35:22Speaker 5: Maybe more stuff with Jean and her sister could have happened.
- 1:35:27Speaker 2: Yeah, I could see just her recognition of the loss
- 1:35:31Speaker 2: and realizing that her sister truly is dead.
- 1:35:35Speaker 3: Also, this was hard because a bunch of these do
- 1:35:36Speaker 3: roll together.
- 1:35:37Speaker 5: Yeah, they do.
- 1:35:40Speaker 3: There's a few more. Go and do it.
- 1:35:42Speaker 2: So....
- 1:35:44Speaker 3: When he sees Ned has been searching for Spidey's identity,
- 1:35:48Speaker 3: I thought that was very touching and like heartbreaking in
- 1:35:51Speaker 3: its own way.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: Like the red string and yeah.
- 1:35:53Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah. And he's like, I don't know. I just,
- 1:35:55Speaker 3: we're connected somehow, but like, that just must've been unmooring.
- 1:35:59Speaker 5: Um, how great was it that he had, uh, their
- 1:36:02Speaker 5: old teacher as one of the guys.
- 1:36:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:36:05Speaker 5: Flash.
- 1:36:06Speaker 3: And then that guy.
- 1:36:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:36:07Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:36:08Speaker 5: Martin star.
- 1:36:09Speaker 3: 100%. Um, Every single time they went into the May memory? Yeah. Crap.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: Yeah, because they soft-launched that with a shorter version, and
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: then a little bit more, and then full beans, full send, like,
- 1:36:25Speaker 2: we're going to break your heart.
- 1:36:26Speaker 5: Full beans.
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: Which the rewatch really made even more special. I liked
- 1:36:29Speaker 3: that a lot, that they sort of like... Not at that,
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: which is really fun.
- 1:36:33Speaker 2: Because you think, oh, it's for Peter. You think this
- 1:36:35Speaker 2: is supposed to help him reconnect with himself, but he
- 1:36:38Speaker 2: uses it as like a weapon of kindness to like
- 1:36:41Speaker 2: reach out to this character that just needs help. Yeah.
- 1:36:44Speaker 3: So great. I got some hype tears. No banner, no girl,
- 1:36:51Speaker 3: only Hulk.
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: That was pretty cool.
- 1:36:53Speaker 2: That was a good line.
- 1:36:54Speaker 3: I loved that line a lot. I thought that was neat.
- 1:36:59Speaker 3: I thought it was very sad, too. Speaking of banner.
- 1:37:02Speaker 3: When he was being rolled out and all he is
- 1:37:04Speaker 3: saying is, is anyone hurt? Did I hurt anyone? Like,
- 1:37:07Speaker 3: it's so sad.
- 1:37:08Speaker 2: Dude, because you really feel for Banner because he's been
- 1:37:11Speaker 2: trying so hard to just keep this locked up at
- 1:37:15Speaker 2: varying degrees of success over his tenure.
- 1:37:17Speaker 3: As the character. And he just wants to be a
- 1:37:19Speaker 3: dorky professor. You know, like, that's what he wants, you know?
- 1:37:23Speaker 2: So many of his, like, dad jokes in the classroom, too, of.
- 1:37:26Speaker 1: Like, rawr!
- 1:37:28Speaker 3: Yeah, so great. uh the picture that mj draws of
- 1:37:32Speaker 3: peter and ned that we talked about that got me
- 1:37:33Speaker 3: too yep uh yeah.
- 1:37:35Speaker 4: That's still the same scene yeah that is the same
- 1:37:37Speaker 4: you're right.
- 1:37:38Speaker 2: I remembered my thought oh tell me this is maybe
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: too niche and too quick of a moment but it
- 1:37:43Speaker 2: really like kind of like really briefly choked me up
- 1:37:45Speaker 2: i was like oh it's like when uh when jean
- 1:37:49Speaker 2: has her like bubble of mind control on the whole
- 1:37:53Speaker 2: and it's a growing and ned and mj are frozen
- 1:37:56Speaker 2: and mj's got a tear rolling down our cheek you.
- 1:37:58Speaker 3: Know that's so amazing that really like that's a good
- 1:38:01Speaker 3: call maybe.
- 1:38:02Speaker 2: It was too short to like actually boohoo ad but
- 1:38:05Speaker 2: it like it really like kind of choked me up
- 1:38:07Speaker 2: for a second like i was like oh that's really
- 1:38:09Speaker 2: sad yeah I.
- 1:38:10Speaker 3: Didn't write that one down, so I must not have
- 1:38:11Speaker 3: full-on cried to that, but yes, that's a good call, though.
- 1:38:14Speaker 4: An honorary mention.
- 1:38:16Speaker 3: Yeah, to do, like, the one tear. That effect, too.
- 1:38:20Speaker 2: That effect, if we do that mention, was really powerful.
- 1:38:23Speaker 2: It reminded me of, no surprise here, but another telepath,
- 1:38:27Speaker 2: and his strength was in Logan.
- 1:38:29Speaker 3: Logan.
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: Patrick Stewart's, uh, professor X loses control and everything's just
- 1:38:36Speaker 2: vibrating and like in the stasis moment, you know, you're right.
- 1:38:39Speaker 3: It was very similar. I wonder if they kind of
- 1:38:41Speaker 3: homage that a little bit more.
- 1:38:42Speaker 2: I wouldn't be surprised if it was my favorite, my favorite,
- 1:38:45Speaker 2: like usage of X's powers, like over things.
- 1:38:48Speaker 3: Yeah. Uh, Rob, uh, earmuffs, uh, when she sees V
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: max on the vent.com. Here we are.
- 1:38:57Speaker 2: I don't know what to tell you.
- 1:38:59Speaker 4: I wish you would have done something more for me.
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: I'm more in the middle than Riley, but it definitely
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: made me cry.
- 1:39:05Speaker 2: I dug it. I was like, this is the kind
- 1:39:07Speaker 2: of twist that I like.
- 1:39:09Speaker 5: She could have said anything to her when she says VMAX.
- 1:39:13Speaker 4: But does she say it?
- 1:39:15Speaker 2: I don't think she says it.
- 1:39:16Speaker 3: I think that just gets through for a second before
- 1:39:19Speaker 3: she does.
- 1:39:20Speaker 2: It's a last moment twist. Echo like like aftershock of
- 1:39:25Speaker 2: something she sees that this character latches on to, not
- 1:39:28Speaker 2: knowing how both insignificant and significant it is.
- 1:39:32Speaker 3: You know what I mean? Yeah. It's insignificance was, I.
- 1:39:35Speaker 2: Think, what made it like so heartbreaking and powerful.
- 1:39:38Speaker 3: Yeah. So some hype tears of people like us don't
- 1:39:42Speaker 3: get to live a normal life. We don't get friends.
- 1:39:44Speaker 3: We don't get family. Those people are gone. That life
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: is over. So why don't you just be honest with yourself?
- 1:39:49Speaker 3: Are you Peter Parker or are you Spider-Man? I'm both.
- 1:39:52Speaker 5: I'm both.
- 1:39:53Speaker 3: And then he goes all Matrix and it's like, all
- 1:39:55Speaker 3: I could hear was.
- 1:39:56Speaker 2: She really thought she was cooking with that, too.
- 1:39:58Speaker 3: She thought she was going to get him.
- 1:39:59Speaker 2: Be honest with yourself. Which one are you? And he's like,
- 1:40:02Speaker 2: guess what, chick?
- 1:40:04Speaker 5: I've been learning about this this whole movie and I
- 1:40:07Speaker 5: know what's up.
- 1:40:07Speaker 2: That's the whole point of the plot of this movie
- 1:40:09Speaker 2: we're in.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: All I could hear when he was doing the Matrix
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: stuff was Morpheus. He's beginning to believe. Yeah. It was
- 1:40:17Speaker 3: so great.
- 1:40:19Speaker 5: And then.
- 1:40:21Speaker 3: Hell yeah. Morpheus. That movie continues to slap. By the way,
- 1:40:25Speaker 3: I re-watched it recently. So good.
- 1:40:27Speaker 2: It holds up.
- 1:40:28Speaker 3: Always. Oh, so yes, Rob, the Frank in the hospital
- 1:40:36Speaker 3: scene did get me. Sorry, it was here, but it
- 1:40:39Speaker 3: was the line I wrote on the line of you
- 1:40:42Speaker 3: look exactly the way I thought you would. Nice kid.
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: I never had a friend like that. And he was like,
- 1:40:46Speaker 3: are we friends now? Which I thought was very sweet.
- 1:40:48Speaker 2: Yeah, that was that was actually in Frank.
- 1:40:51Speaker 3: Are you crying, Frank?
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: I was going to ask what that line, if you
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: had that line written down, cause I was like, he,
- 1:40:56Speaker 2: Frank said something about what Peter looks like now that
- 1:40:59Speaker 2: he's been unmasked to him.
- 1:41:01Speaker 3: You look exactly the way I thought you would. Nice kid.
- 1:41:05Speaker 3: That's all he says. And I think that's great.
- 1:41:06Speaker 2: Such a, such a New Yorker too. Like he's, he's
- 1:41:10Speaker 2: that like dirty, like grizzled New Yorker, New York veteran,
- 1:41:14Speaker 2: like of that city. And I love how it comes
- 1:41:17Speaker 2: out in those kinds of lines like that.
- 1:41:18Speaker 5: Nice kid.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: And then the last one is just Peter goes back
- 1:41:23Speaker 3: to the grave and he just does the, I'm not
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: going to do this alone anymore. I miss you, May.
- 1:41:27Speaker 3: But it's like, I miss you, May, but also hopeful
- 1:41:31Speaker 3: in some way.
- 1:41:32Speaker 5: But I'm going to be okay.
- 1:41:33Speaker 2: But I think I'm okay.
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: Yeah, kind of like a goodbye. Not goodbye, but like,
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: I'm good.
- 1:41:38Speaker 2: Letting go of the grief as much and moving forward
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: with the lessons that were taught. Yeah.
- 1:41:44Speaker 3: Turning the sad memory into the happy memory, like in
- 1:41:47Speaker 3: Inside Out or something, you know, like that, like it's
- 1:41:50Speaker 3: transforming a bit. Oh, God. Talk about boohoo moments. Dude,
- 1:41:53Speaker 3: that movie rushed me. Those were all of them. I
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: don't remember how many there were.
- 1:41:59Speaker 5: Yeah, it was almost double, I think, probably around 16
- 1:42:04Speaker 5: or 17. Yeah, that's good.
- 1:42:06Speaker 2: That's a par for the course, I feel like, on
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: an emotional MCO movie.
- 1:42:08Speaker 3: Definitely not a chemical imbalance issue. Movie trivia. Let's go there.
- 1:42:15Speaker 3: Kind of surprisingly not as many as I thought there
- 1:42:17Speaker 3: would be, so feel free to pepper in if I
- 1:42:19Speaker 3: missed any. But the film is dedicated to the memory
- 1:42:22Speaker 3: of comic book writer Jerry Conway, the co-creator of the Punisher,
- 1:42:28Speaker 3: who first appeared in the Amazing Spider-Man issue 129. So
- 1:42:32Speaker 3: that was who.
- 1:42:33Speaker 2: Punisher was from an Amazing Spider-Man.
- 1:42:35Speaker 5: It wasn't. I thought it was 128. It is 129.
- 1:42:38Speaker 3: I that's what I copied. Oh, you were being serious.
- 1:42:41Speaker 2: And I was like, I tricked the out of me
- 1:42:44Speaker 2: with that, Rob. I was like, you are dropping issue number.
- 1:42:50Speaker 5: Definitely not. Point of order. It's 128.
- 1:42:59Speaker 3: It was a reprint of 129 that got it there.
- 1:43:03Speaker 3: A scene from Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back is
- 1:43:10Speaker 3: briefly seen on one of Ned's computer screens. The scene
- 1:43:13Speaker 3: where the Snow Walker trips and falls on Hoth is
- 1:43:16Speaker 3: the exact scene Spider-Man references during the airport battle in
- 1:43:19Speaker 3: Captain America Civil War.
- 1:43:21Speaker 5: You got to love that.
- 1:43:22Speaker 2: A bunch of nerds.
- 1:43:23Speaker 4: I hope that was on purpose.
- 1:43:24Speaker 3: Continuity. A bunch of dorks. Oh, it was absolutely on purpose.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 1:43:28Speaker 5: I love that kind of stuff.
- 1:43:29Speaker 3: Me too. I think that's so fun. Also love Peter's
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: wearing a shirt that's advertising Del Mar's Deli. And that's
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: the bodega that he goes to in Homecoming, which I
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: think is fun.
- 1:43:40Speaker 5: Nice.
- 1:43:40Speaker 3: Also, I want that shirt.
- 1:43:42Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: That'd be a fun deep pull to wear. Such a great.
- 1:43:45Speaker 5: Like, lore merch item.
- 1:43:47Speaker 3: Yeah, so great. It's got to be somewhere.
- 1:43:49Speaker 5: Let's see.
- 1:43:51Speaker 3: Oh, we had, Rob, this is for you then. Some
- 1:43:53Speaker 3: Spider-Man comic covers are recreated in this movie, such as
- 1:43:57Speaker 3: Amazing Fantasy, which was number 15, of course. Right, of course.
- 1:44:00Speaker 5: Spider-Man's first appearance.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: Amazing Spider-Man 134, Tarantula's first appearance.
- 1:44:07Speaker 5: Yep, that was Tarantula's first appearance.
- 1:44:10Speaker 3: As you well know, Spider-Man's battle with Ramrod. Take it easy.
- 1:44:14Speaker 5: Ramrod. Love Ramrod.
- 1:44:16Speaker 3: Yeah, from Super Troopers. Car Ramrod.
- 1:44:18Speaker 4: Super Troopers.
- 1:44:18Speaker 5: Ramrod. Chicken.
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: The Amazing Spider-Man 345. From Spider-Man's Battle with Boomerang. I
- 1:44:29Speaker 3: made myself snort there. I wish anyone thought I was
- 1:44:33Speaker 3: half as funny as I think I am at all times.
- 1:44:36Speaker 3: That's all I'm saying.
- 1:44:36Speaker 5: I'm right up there with you. Thank you very funny, buddy.
- 1:44:38Speaker 5: I'm right up there with you.
- 1:44:39Speaker 3: 142, which is Spider-Man's defeat of Tombstone.
- 1:44:46Speaker 5: Defeat of Tombstone, yes.
- 1:44:46Speaker 3: And then number two, Spider-Man Adventures number two, which was
- 1:44:50Speaker 3: a battle with Scorpion, of course, so. I thought that
- 1:44:53Speaker 3: was fun.
- 1:44:53Speaker 2: It was very fun because it was like, it also
- 1:44:55Speaker 2: was like Fantastic Four, the new one, because they did
- 1:45:00Speaker 2: a similar thing where like, we can't, these guys already exist.
- 1:45:03Speaker 2: We got to show a montage of how these heroes
- 1:45:05Speaker 2: have been affecting.
- 1:45:06Speaker 3: Their universe for a while.
- 1:45:07Speaker 5: Yeah, with like Mole Man and all that stuff. Yeah, exactly.
- 1:45:09Speaker 2: Like the fun little, I don't know if that was
- 1:45:10Speaker 2: the beginning or the middle of the movie, but they
- 1:45:12Speaker 2: had a similar sort of like... Defeating low-level villains montage.
- 1:45:16Speaker 5: I love that.
- 1:45:16Speaker 2: It's a great way to quickly pay homage to a
- 1:45:18Speaker 2: bunch of cool characters that are not going to make
- 1:45:20Speaker 2: big appearances.
- 1:45:21Speaker 3: In this universe past this point.
- 1:45:24Speaker 2: It was really fun. And like you said, the splash
- 1:45:26Speaker 2: moments of the actual front of the comic book. Very
- 1:45:30Speaker 2: fun comparisons side-by-side of those.
- 1:45:33Speaker 3: Love that. Tom Holland got a concussion during filming, which
- 1:45:38Speaker 3: sent him to the hospital and required a few days
- 1:45:41Speaker 3: of a break in the you know the set stuff so.
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: Tom holland smashed his left eyebrow into it i knew
- 1:45:48Speaker 2: it yeah that's.
- 1:45:49Speaker 5: What it was must have been before the odyssey he.
- 1:45:52Speaker 3: Went back in time and yeah uh let's see when
- 1:45:57Speaker 3: peter parker walks into the store to buy flowers in
- 1:45:59Speaker 3: the beginning of the movie you can see barrow at
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: uh on one of the shelves and this is tom
- 1:46:05Speaker 3: holland's brand of non-alcoholic.
- 1:46:07Speaker 5: Company Oh, yeah. I've seen him promoting that so much.
- 1:46:11Speaker 3: Yeah, me too. I've heard about it.
- 1:46:12Speaker 2: People say it's really good. Like, for teetotalers and stuff, it, like,
- 1:46:16Speaker 2: really tastes like, like, it gives the same experience.
- 1:46:18Speaker 3: But it actually tastes like beer, right?
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: It does.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: That's what people say, yeah. That wouldn't be good for me.
- 1:46:22Speaker 3: But I love that that's out there.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, exactly. I want this to taste less
- 1:46:27Speaker 2: like beer, actually, Tom. I'm going to write to the.
- 1:46:30Speaker 3: Do you have, like, something that tastes like Sprite? That'd
- 1:46:33Speaker 3: be nice. Thanks. remember when I just screamed chicken that was.
- 1:46:40Speaker 4: Fun you really did we do.
- 1:46:44Speaker 2: Oh man isn't your guys' bleep out noise a chicken
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: sound as.
- 1:46:48Speaker 4: Well it's gonna work so well chicken burr okay let's
- 1:46:51Speaker 4: see the first trailer.
- 1:46:52Speaker 5: Received 719 million views.
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: Online within the first 24 hours insane that's bonkers dude
- 1:47:07Speaker 3: uh beating the previous previously held record uh which was
- 1:47:10Speaker 3: deadpool and wolverine and they only had a paltry 365
- 1:47:14Speaker 3: million so dude yeah that's crazy dude people love spider-man
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: oh yeah nuts uh they're all so solid so so
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: solid even the bad ones are like fun you know
- 1:47:26Speaker 3: yeah Back in the day.
- 1:47:28Speaker 5: There aren't any bad ones.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: Well, there was a few back in the day.
- 1:47:30Speaker 5: Second film directed.
- 1:47:32Speaker 3: I'm sorry.
- 1:47:32Speaker 5: I see what you mean.
- 1:47:33Speaker 3: No, you're right about that. You're right about that. Oh,
- 1:47:36Speaker 3: we already said the director stuff. I've got one maybe
- 1:47:39Speaker 3: you don't have on the list.
- 1:47:41Speaker 5: I was going to say.
- 1:47:41Speaker 3: Oh, say it again?
- 1:47:42Speaker 5: Yeah, say it.
- 1:47:42Speaker 2: I was going to say, it's a very... It's not
- 1:47:44Speaker 2: even like a trivia, but the guy who plays... who
- 1:47:47Speaker 2: had a way smaller role than I thought. He's in
- 1:47:50Speaker 2: one scene, but her boyfriend guy, I don't remember the
- 1:47:54Speaker 2: actor's name, but he plays Ezra Bridger in the live-action
- 1:47:58Speaker 2: interpretation of Ezra Bridger in the Star Wars extended universe. Yeah,
- 1:48:03Speaker 2: because if you watch Star Wars Rebels, the animated series,
- 1:48:07Speaker 2: Ezra is a... He's a young Jedi protege.
- 1:48:10Speaker 3: I knew there was a live-action version, but I didn't
- 1:48:12Speaker 3: know that was the dude.
- 1:48:13Speaker 5: That's cool.
- 1:48:14Speaker 2: In ahsoka in the ahsoka show on disney plus he
- 1:48:17Speaker 2: plays ezra the live action as a bridge he's fantastic
- 1:48:20Speaker 2: as ezra like he's he's a perfect live action casting
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: and i was like oh he's in this and then
- 1:48:26Speaker 2: he had literally one scene.
- 1:48:27Speaker 3: In two months yeah not in it got to smooch
- 1:48:30Speaker 3: zendaya though.
- 1:48:30Speaker 2: That's kind of fun Well, it gets the action there.
- 1:48:33Speaker 3: Yeah. Worst ways to live a life, I guess.
- 1:48:36Speaker 2: Yeah, definitely.
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: Oh, Ned leads his spider tracker app. It plays the
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: theme music from Spider-Man, the animated series.
- 1:48:46Speaker 5: Love it. Yeah.
- 1:48:48Speaker 2: Well, because like they always they shied away from that,
- 1:48:50Speaker 2: I feel like in the other ones, because they didn't
- 1:48:52Speaker 2: want to feel like too campy. I mean, they had
- 1:48:54Speaker 2: what in the in the O.G.
- 1:48:55Speaker 5: Tobey movie.
- 1:48:56Speaker 2: Isn't there like a lady playing violin or something crappily
- 1:48:59Speaker 2: in the subway?
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: And she's playing. That's right.
- 1:49:02Speaker 2: Referencing it way back and I remember being like, that's
- 1:49:04Speaker 2: the song! But they, besides that, they kind of shy
- 1:49:08Speaker 2: away from it. I love that there was that reference
- 1:49:10Speaker 2: in this.
- 1:49:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that was neat.
- 1:49:11Speaker 2: And it's like truly like 8-bit version of it.
- 1:49:15Speaker 3: Uh, this is the weirdest thing I've ever read. Uh,
- 1:49:18Speaker 3: that's not true, but it is weird. Uh, in the
- 1:49:20Speaker 3: scene where Spider-Man was hit by the battle van, there
- 1:49:23Speaker 3: was a wall mural depicting Eminem's iconic character B rabbit
- 1:49:27Speaker 3: from eight mile specifically styled after the limited edition variant
- 1:49:31Speaker 3: cover of the amazing Spider-Man one in 2022 where Spidey
- 1:49:36Speaker 3: and Eminem face off in a rap battle, recreating the
- 1:49:40Speaker 3: finale of the film. Eminem recorded the track Venom for
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: the Spider-Man spinoff film Venom in 2018, and he has
- 1:49:48Speaker 3: a history of referencing the hero in his music, including
- 1:49:52Speaker 3: a song named Toby that uses Spider-Man metaphors on his album.
- 1:49:56Speaker 5: Wow.
- 1:49:58Speaker 2: That is crazy.
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: So that's pretty wild. That is so bonkers.
- 1:50:00Speaker 4: That's wild.
- 1:50:01Speaker 3: Bee Rabbit referenced in this.
- 1:50:03Speaker 5: Mom's Spaghetti.
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: Vomit on his sweater over it.
- 1:50:07Speaker 3: Yeah. Marvin Jones III appears in the cameo as the
- 1:50:11Speaker 3: crime lord Lonnie Lincoln, a.k.a. Tombstone. And he voiced that
- 1:50:16Speaker 3: same character in Spider-Man into the Spider-Verse. So that's kind
- 1:50:19Speaker 3: of fun. That's cool.
- 1:50:20Speaker 5: That is fun.
- 1:50:21Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:50:22Speaker 3: And he looked really cool.
- 1:50:23Speaker 2: He is in that. I've just connected that dot.
- 1:50:26Speaker 3: That guy's got such a cool voice. Yeah, he does.
- 1:50:29Speaker 2: He's with Catherine Han's Doc Ock, right? Is that where
- 1:50:33Speaker 2: he's at?
- 1:50:34Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: So good.
- 1:50:37Speaker 5: Cool.
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: I love that.
- 1:50:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that was it. That was all the
- 1:50:44Speaker 3: trivia I had, so maybe it was fun.
- 1:50:45Speaker 2: Also, isn't it kind of fun that Catherine Han plays
- 1:50:47Speaker 2: multiple characters? You could connect the Spider-Verse now into.
- 1:50:53Speaker 2: The MCU, like the greater Marvel connected universe, because we
- 1:50:56Speaker 2: get like Donald Glover's Nightcrawler self in the Spider-Verse movies.
- 1:51:02Speaker 2: And then she voices Doc Ock in the first one.
- 1:51:05Speaker 2: But then she's also Agatha. Like, that's kind of fun.
- 1:51:07Speaker 3: It is fun. Yeah. Interesting.
- 1:51:09Speaker 5: She knows it all. I saw one thing. The Leopard Queen.
- 1:51:14Speaker 5: Apparently Leopard Queen is a bad person. was originally meant
- 1:51:20Speaker 5: to be the main antagonist of this movie.
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: Oh, okay.
- 1:51:24Speaker 5: And it was going to be played by Anne Hathaway,
- 1:51:26Speaker 5: and she decided the role was too small, so the
- 1:51:29Speaker 5: character was changed into Bill Metzger.
- 1:51:31Speaker 3: Wow, okay, okay.
- 1:51:33Speaker 5: So who knows if that's true, but that is what
- 1:51:35Speaker 5: it said. Dude, yeah, she would have.
- 1:51:37Speaker 2: Been in all the biggest grossing, highest grossing movies ever.
- 1:51:40Speaker 3: That's crazy. Yeah. That's cool.
- 1:51:42Speaker 2: No, just Zendaya with Odyssey, this movie, and then friggin'...
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: Dune 3 coming out, and then possibly also Doomsday that
- 1:51:50Speaker 2: she might have. I could see her having an appearance
- 1:51:52Speaker 2: in that. What a year for Miss.
- 1:51:55Speaker 5: Dude, all these folks.
- 1:51:56Speaker 2: For Miss Zendaya.
- 1:51:57Speaker 5: Isn't that crazy?
- 1:51:59Speaker 4: That was all I had, though.
- 1:52:00Speaker 3: Nice. Riley, do you have any other trivia that we missed?
- 1:52:03Speaker 2: I just liked that I saw Ezra Bridger in the.
- 1:52:05Speaker 3: Yeah, that's cool.
- 1:52:06Speaker 5: That's crazy.
- 1:52:06Speaker 3: That's really cool.
- 1:52:07Speaker 2: And like I said, a wacky sort of like... Not
- 1:52:10Speaker 2: a small role. I mean, he hasn't been in like
- 1:52:12Speaker 2: a crazy ton of stuff. That guy, that actor, but
- 1:52:15Speaker 2: like He was so good as that character and a
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: pretty prominently beloved character in the Star Wars universe. So
- 1:52:24Speaker 2: it was funny to see him there. He has a
- 1:52:26Speaker 2: beard as Ezra, too, so he was clean-shaven.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: Oh, okay. That really made him look.
- 1:52:30Speaker 2: Very different as well, so it's hard to tell.
- 1:52:33Speaker 5: Well, maybe he'll keep up with the... Maybe she'll be
- 1:52:38Speaker 5: boyfriend with him for a while. I don't know. Super
- 1:52:41Speaker 5: pleased with him. She didn't know.
- 1:52:43Speaker 2: He kind of seemed like he sucked a little bit.
- 1:52:45Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a little bit. Who knows, though? You know,
- 1:52:46Speaker 3: things change. Yeah, we'll see.
- 1:52:49Speaker 5: She was withholding. So it's true. It's true.
- 1:52:52Speaker 4: Will there be a sequel?
- 1:52:54Speaker 5: Yes.
- 1:52:54Speaker 4: Judgment Day.
- 1:52:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: It seems pretty clear there. This is kind of.
- 1:52:59Speaker 5: All they said in the after slightly used. The credits
- 1:53:02Speaker 5: are just like Spider-Man will.
- 1:53:04Speaker 3: Well, we'll see him in Doomsday. Yeah, I assume part
- 1:53:05Speaker 3: of that's because Doomsday is going to get crazy.
- 1:53:08Speaker 2: We'll see him in Doomsday. We'll see him in Secret Wars.
- 1:53:10Speaker 2: But this felt like the first chapter of a new
- 1:53:13Speaker 2: little trilogy. I mean, I think that it seems like
- 1:53:17Speaker 2: no secret that Tom is around for a while still.
- 1:53:21Speaker 2: And unless we lose him in Secret Wars or something tragically,
- 1:53:27Speaker 2: I don't see why they wouldn't give us another installment
- 1:53:29Speaker 2: of his... his journey and his world, you know?
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: And they still have all the Miles Morales. Like he
- 1:53:36Speaker 3: can do a one where he finds Miles Morales and
- 1:53:38Speaker 3: then one where he like passes the torch still.
- 1:53:40Speaker 2: Like there's a lot.
- 1:53:42Speaker 3: Of options out there still. So it'd be so cool. Yeah. Yeah. Nice.
- 1:53:47Speaker 4: You guys want to play a game?
- 1:53:48Speaker 2: Let's play a game.
- 1:53:49Speaker 5: I did a starting five. I'm going to name five
- 1:53:51Speaker 5: actors from a particular film. When you know the film,
- 1:53:53Speaker 5: you're going to ring in with your name. If you
- 1:53:55Speaker 5: get it wrong, there won't be negative points, but you
- 1:53:58Speaker 5: won't be able to guess again for that movie. If
- 1:54:00Speaker 5: there are actors' names remaining, you can guess those for
- 1:54:02Speaker 5: one point each. The other person can steal if you
- 1:54:07Speaker 5: get any of those names wrong. All of these films
- 1:54:09Speaker 5: have something in common. It usually pertains to the movie
- 1:54:14Speaker 5: that we've just discussed.
- 1:54:16Speaker 4: When you know the theme, you can ring it at
- 1:54:17Speaker 4: any time for a point.
- 1:54:18Speaker 3: Love it.
- 1:54:20Speaker 5: Boom.
- 1:54:21Speaker 3: Let's do it.
- 1:54:21Speaker 5: Are we ready for number one?
- 1:54:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:54:24Speaker 4: Number one, the first name, Coleman Domingo.
- 1:54:28Speaker 3: He's in everything.
- 1:54:28Speaker 5: Another guy who is working constantly.
- 1:54:31Speaker 3: So many things.
- 1:54:32Speaker 5: He's in all of them.
- 1:54:32Speaker 4: Every movie.
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: He's in everything.
- 1:54:34Speaker 5: He's a busy man.
- 1:54:34Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:54:36Speaker 5: Let's go to number two. Colin Firth. Not to be
- 1:54:41Speaker 5: confused with Colin Thekint.
- 1:54:44Speaker 3: Every time, and I love it every single time.
- 1:54:46Speaker 2: That's my first time hearing that joke, and that was wonderful.
- 1:54:48Speaker 3: Evergreen. That joke's so good.
- 1:54:51Speaker 5: I like it.
- 1:54:51Speaker 3: I love it.
- 1:54:52Speaker 4: The third name is Eve Hewson.
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: Eve Hewson? Who's Eve Hewson?
- 1:54:59Speaker 5: We've talked about her. I will tell you after this.
- 1:55:02Speaker 4: Yes, the fourth name is Josh O'Connor.

- 2:08:01Speaker 2: of your abilities.
- 2:08:02Speaker 5: Like, yeah, he's incredible as a millennial.
- 2:08:04Speaker 2: It just, you're just the jokester guy, you know?
- 2:08:07Speaker 5: Right. No, he's super accomplished. Um, where are we going
- 2:08:11Speaker 5: into 10 guys? We're tied at five and a half.
- 2:08:13Speaker 5: Oh my God. Five and a half each. All right.
- 2:08:16Speaker 5: Five and a half.
- 2:08:17Speaker 4: I also feel like this one could go quickly.
- 2:08:19Speaker 5: I did an easier one at the end.
- 2:08:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:08:22Speaker 5: So we'll see.
- 2:08:24Speaker 3: I don't have any day movies in my brain at all.
- 2:08:27Speaker 2: None.
- 2:08:28Speaker 4: Okay.
- 2:08:28Speaker 5: Well, maybe you will after I say this first name.
- 2:08:32Speaker 5: And the name is Jennifer Lawrence. J-Law to some friends.
- 2:08:40Speaker 4: The second name is Michael Fassbender.
- 2:08:43Speaker 2: Riley.
- 2:08:44Speaker 3: Damn it.
- 2:08:44Speaker 5: Riley.
- 2:08:48Speaker 2: Can I name the other actors first?
- 2:08:51Speaker 3: Oh, how dare you?
- 2:08:52Speaker 5: You can. You can, I guess.
- 2:08:55Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no. Just hold on a sec. Uh.
- 2:09:00Speaker 2: This is embarrassing because I obviously know what movie this is,
- 2:09:04Speaker 2: but I'm fully brain farting on the appropriate title that
- 2:09:09Speaker 2: I could name off.
- 2:09:10Speaker 5: So you know what word has to be in it.
- 2:09:12Speaker 2: I do know what word has to be in it.
- 2:09:14Speaker 5: And you know what one hyphenated word probably is in it.
- 2:09:18Speaker 5: All right.
- 2:09:19Speaker 3: Yeah, I sure do. I'm just kidding.
- 2:09:20Speaker 5: I'm totally kidding.
- 2:09:22Speaker 2: I don't deserve the movie point, but I could definitely
- 2:09:24Speaker 2: get the other three actors.
- 2:09:25Speaker 3: Well, I think you should because I always struggle with
- 2:09:27Speaker 3: that part.
- 2:09:28Speaker 5: I will say.
- 2:09:29Speaker 3: But I don't want to break the rules.
- 2:09:30Speaker 2: This feels like I'm bending the rules here.
- 2:09:32Speaker 5: No, you're fine. You can go out of order. No,
- 2:09:33Speaker 5: we've never actually said that out loud, so you're welcome
- 2:09:36Speaker 5: to do it.
- 2:09:37Speaker 2: Absolutely.
- 2:09:39Speaker 5: There is one. I will just give a hint that
- 2:09:43Speaker 5: the three that I picked, I think it's the first
- 2:09:47Speaker 5: two build, and then I think it was the fourth build.
- 2:09:49Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:09:50Speaker 5: So I skipped the third because I wanted.
- 2:09:52Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:09:52Speaker 3: Anyway.
- 2:09:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 2:09:54Speaker 5: But we'll see. We'll see how you do.
- 2:09:56Speaker 2: Am I allowed to name the guys first?
- 2:09:58Speaker 3: Yes. Okay.
- 2:10:00Speaker 2: So you said Fassbender and you said J-Law.
- 2:10:03Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:10:04Speaker 2: So we're going with McAvoy. We're going with James McAvoy.
- 2:10:08Speaker 3: James McAvoy.
- 2:10:09Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:10:09Speaker 2: Got to go with him because.
- 2:10:11Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:10:12Speaker 2: It's James McAvoy. We're going to go with... So J-Law
- 2:10:17Speaker 2: is in it.
- 2:10:19Speaker 3: Right.
- 2:10:19Speaker 2: Okay. So it's not that....
- 2:10:22Speaker 5: Dude, there's so many people in that movie.
- 2:10:24Speaker 2: There's so many. Interesting.
- 2:10:26Speaker 5: And I wanted to make sure you got that out
- 2:10:28Speaker 5: of this whole, all of those films. It was this one.
- 2:10:32Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Right.
- 2:10:34Speaker 2: Right. Ooh. My brain is struggling a little bit here.
- 2:10:39Speaker 2: Do I, how many chances do I get to guess names,
- 2:10:42Speaker 2: I guess?
- 2:10:42Speaker 5: You only get two more chances.
- 2:10:43Speaker 2: So I get two more chances.
- 2:10:44Speaker 5: But so far, so far you have one point.
- 2:10:47Speaker 2: It's gotta be, I mean, we gotta get, I feel
- 2:10:50Speaker 2: like it would be dumb to not say Hugh Jackman.
- 2:10:54Speaker 4: And that's the one that I didn't pick.
- 2:10:56Speaker 5: That is.
- 2:10:56Speaker 3: You actually didn't pick Hugh Jackman?
- 2:10:58Speaker 5: I actually didn't pick Hugh Jackman. I'm so sorry.
- 2:11:01Speaker 3: But it's that movie.
- 2:11:03Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:11:03Speaker 2: But it's that movie. Okay. This really is funny because
- 2:11:07Speaker 2: that means if I get.
- 2:11:07Speaker 4: You have one more name.
- 2:11:09Speaker 5: You can say one more name.
- 2:11:10Speaker 2: So Bugs can still win this because he.
- 2:11:12Speaker 4: He still could.
- 2:11:13Speaker 2: He probably knows the correct name. And if he can get.
- 2:11:15Speaker 4: You got to get this.
- 2:11:16Speaker 5: It might be a tie.
- 2:11:16Speaker 3: It might be a tie.
- 2:11:19Speaker 2: I don't know the correct name. That's the thing. Okay.
- 2:11:21Speaker 5: I think you'll be good.
- 2:11:23Speaker 2: So we have J-Law, we have Fassbender, we have McAvoy.
- 2:11:27Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:11:27Speaker 2: Because there's some legends.
- 2:11:32Speaker 5: Yeah, go that way.
- 2:11:33Speaker 3: Go that way? Yep.
- 2:11:35Speaker 2: Come on.
- 2:11:36Speaker 3: I'm just kidding.
- 2:11:37Speaker 5: There's two.
- 2:11:37Speaker 2: There's two legends.
- 2:11:39Speaker 3: How could I possibly?
- 2:11:40Speaker 2: This is a coin toss.
- 2:11:42Speaker 5: Yep.
- 2:11:43Speaker 4: So yeah, just say one of the names.
- 2:11:45Speaker 3: Patrick Stewart.
- 2:11:47Speaker 5: Boom, got it. So, Bugues, you can't say J-Law, Michael Fassbender,
- 2:11:52Speaker 5: James McAvoy, or Patrick Stewart. There's one name remaining and
- 2:11:57Speaker 5: the name of the movie.
- 2:11:57Speaker 2: Yep, and then you're going to tie it, and then
- 2:11:59Speaker 2: what do we do?
- 2:12:00Speaker 3: Ian McKellen?
- 2:12:02Speaker 5: Ian McKellen is the name.
- 2:12:03Speaker 3: X-Men Days of Future Past.
- 2:12:05Speaker 5: Days of Future Past.
- 2:12:06Speaker 3: There we go.
- 2:12:07Speaker 2: It's such a convoluted name.
- 2:12:08Speaker 3: Can I give you another name of the cast? Should
- 2:12:12Speaker 3: we just go back and forth and see who can
- 2:12:13Speaker 3: stop doing that? do we just i was gonna say
- 2:12:21Speaker 3: sophie turner if there was another one but i don't
- 2:12:23Speaker 3: even know dude there's the other one that you have
- 2:12:26Speaker 3: she's not in that one oh no we said all
- 2:12:28Speaker 3: of them.
- 2:12:29Speaker 5: You said all five but like i should have probably
- 2:12:32Speaker 5: had hugh jackman in there but i wanted to put
- 2:12:34Speaker 5: patrick seward and mckay what's that guy's name Nicholas Holt.
- 2:12:38Speaker 3: Nicholas Holt, I was going to say.
- 2:12:39Speaker 5: I was trying to think of that, too. I could
- 2:12:40Speaker 5: have said Nicholas Holt, too.
- 2:12:41Speaker 3: Yeah, let's do the bonus.
- 2:12:44Speaker 5: I have a bonus.
- 2:12:44Speaker 3: Oh, sorry.
- 2:12:45Speaker 5: Did we each get... It doesn't matter.
- 2:12:46Speaker 3: We're still tied.
- 2:12:47Speaker 5: Yeah, you guys are tied. We each got two.
- 2:12:48Speaker 2: We both got two points, yep.
- 2:12:51Speaker 5: Here we go. The bonus. The first name is Christopher Eccleston.
- 2:12:56Speaker 5: The second name is Alex Palmore.
- 2:13:02Speaker 4: So you won't know the first two names.
- 2:13:04Speaker 5: Hold on, hold on.
- 2:13:05Speaker 3: I guess I need to start again.
- 2:13:08Speaker 2: Start again.
- 2:13:09Speaker 5: Christopher Eccleston. It reminds me of that Got Milk commercial.
- 2:13:14Speaker 5: El Wimbo. El Wimbo.
- 2:13:16Speaker 3: El Wimbo.
- 2:13:17Speaker 2: That made my brain stop.
- 2:13:19Speaker 3: Oh, Sammy's.
- 2:13:21Speaker 2: Christopher Eccleston.
- 2:13:22Speaker 3: Okay.
- 2:13:22Speaker 4: Christopher Eccleston.
- 2:13:24Speaker 3: Eccleston. Okay.
- 2:13:26Speaker 4: The second name is Alex Palmer.
- 2:13:29Speaker 3: Again. Don't concentrate on those ones.
- 2:13:32Speaker 5: Either of those two people.
- 2:13:33Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:13:33Speaker 4: But these next.
- 2:13:34Speaker 5: Three you'll know.
- 2:13:35Speaker 2: Okay.
- 2:13:35Speaker 5: Well, two for sure.
- 2:13:38Speaker 4: Brendan Gleeson.
- 2:13:40Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 2:13:44Speaker 5: Naomi Harris.
- 2:13:47Speaker 2: All right.
- 2:13:48Speaker 5: And the last name is Killian Murphy.
- 2:13:53Speaker 3: Bukes.
- 2:13:55Speaker 5: Bukes. 28 days later. Got it. Nice. Dude, you guys,
- 2:14:02Speaker 5: that was a good game.
- 2:14:03Speaker 3: That was a really good game.
- 2:14:04Speaker 2: Hey, man.
- 2:14:05Speaker 5: Way to go, you two.
- 2:14:06Speaker 2: I think the last two times we've done, like the
- 2:14:08Speaker 2: last two pods, you've buried.
- 2:14:10Speaker 3: Me in these games.
- 2:14:12Speaker 2: So the fact that we came into this so close.
- 2:14:14Speaker 5: I feel like you did one pretty, you guys were
- 2:14:16Speaker 5: neck and neck recently, but maybe I'm wrong.
- 2:14:18Speaker 3: I don't really remember.
- 2:14:19Speaker 2: I distinctly remember the last one.
- 2:14:21Speaker 3: Best I've ever done.
- 2:14:23Speaker 2: No, you were like, you were pulling out like your
- 2:14:25Speaker 2: first string A team. And I was really like, I
- 2:14:29Speaker 2: flubbed that one.
- 2:14:30Speaker 3: But this felt good, albeit.
- 2:14:33Speaker 5: You're killing it.
- 2:14:33Speaker 2: I'm annoyed about the X-Men name and I'm annoyed about
- 2:14:37Speaker 2: the Bill Pullman. That was dumb.
- 2:14:39Speaker 3: The Pullman one, it's an entire meme of people mixing
- 2:14:43Speaker 3: them up. But I'm obsessed with Lewis Pullman right now.
- 2:14:46Speaker 3: I'm obsessed with him. That is harder. The wires should
- 2:14:49Speaker 3: have connected.
- 2:14:50Speaker 5: You're right. You should feel bad.
- 2:14:52Speaker 3: You're right.
- 2:14:54Speaker 4: I take it back.
- 2:14:56Speaker 3: In fact, let's go.
- 2:14:58Speaker 5: Ahead and shut off your computer now.
- 2:14:59Speaker 3: Thanks so much.
- 2:15:01Speaker 5: No, no. For the listeners at home, Riley's leaving.
- 2:15:05Speaker 2: I'm leaving.
