- 1:35Speaker 4: We did.
- 1:35Speaker 5: We changed it on you. It was for the dad's pod.

- 1:58Speaker 1: That's dad brain. Yeah, that's dad brain. Where's the creatine gummies?
- 2:02Speaker 1: I need the brain operating a little bit better. We
- 2:04Speaker 1: need more create. Truly, like, shout out create.
- 2:06Speaker 2: We went through these. No free shout out to create.
- 2:08Speaker 2: No free shout out to create.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Oh, they're gone? They're gone. Dad brain's real, man. We
- 2:14Speaker 1: got to get some more.
- 2:15Speaker 2: And Willie C, just at the very, very top, the
- 2:20Speaker 2: dad brain, some are saying it's only going to get
- 2:22Speaker 2: worse with your 37 years of age.
- 2:25Speaker 1: Do we have some? They're dry. I'll take them, though.
- 2:28Speaker 1: They're stale. Oh, no, Will. They're not bad. They're not bad.
- 2:38Speaker 2: You know you have to put a lid on it.
- 2:40Speaker 2: They say it's only going to get worse with 37
- 2:42Speaker 2: years of age. We wanted to wish Will a happy birthday,
- 2:46Speaker 2: a belated happy birthday on the pod.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:50Speaker 2: And have a little gift for you. It's inside of
- 2:53Speaker 2: this sweater. I'll toss you the sweater. I wrapped it
- 2:56Speaker 2: very nicely for you.
- 2:57Speaker 1: Sweater's a banger. BWTV.com. BWTV.com. What you got here? Shut up.
- 3:06Speaker 2: 94, 95, back to back, baby.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Back to back.
- 3:14Speaker 2: And a lot of people are saying it's starting to
- 3:16Speaker 2: feel a little like 94, 95. We don't want to
- 3:19Speaker 2: get too far into it.
- 3:22Speaker 1: But it is starting to feel like 94, 95 all
- 3:26Speaker 1: over again. Some can throw in 97. I do.
- 3:28Speaker 2: And I had a little help from... I want to
- 3:31Speaker 2: give a special shout out to Justin Williams. He is
- 3:34Speaker 2: a PT sicko. He messaged me months ago. Found that
- 3:38Speaker 2: in a story.
- 3:38Speaker 1: He said.
- 3:39Speaker 2: I think it could only go to one guy. We
- 3:42Speaker 2: got to get this to Willie. See, I said, Justin,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I would love to go in on it for you.
- 3:47Speaker 2: And so he shipped it to me. I paid him back.
- 3:50Speaker 2: So it's really a gift from Justin Williams and myself.
- 3:53Speaker 2: By the way, this is a phenomenal gift. For those
- 3:55Speaker 2: that are just listening right now and not watching on YouTube,
- 3:57Speaker 2: it is a Huskers jersey.
- 3:59Speaker 1: 94 on the front, 95 on the back. Last name National.
- 4:03Speaker 1: And underneath the 95, it says Champions. I actually have
- 4:07Speaker 1: a follow-up right here from Chase Cunningham At Bold City
- 4:12Speaker 1: Coast to Coast. This is on YouTube. The boys having
- 4:17Speaker 1: to bring Will back down to earth whenever he goes
- 4:19Speaker 1: into his fandom for Nebraska is the funniest ongoing joke
- 4:21Speaker 1: of the bus to the point where when I hear
- 4:24Speaker 1: him say it, I'm like, oh, God, somebody please stop him. Look,
- 4:27Speaker 1: I like this football team. We're going into Michigan State
- 4:30Speaker 1: this weekend. We're going to beat their candy asses. We're
- 4:32Speaker 1: going to run the ball. We're going to throw the ball.
- 4:34Speaker 1: We're going to do whatever the fuck we want to
- 4:35Speaker 1: do to the Spartans. And after we win on the
- 4:38Speaker 1: road first conference game, You'll start to hear the hype
- 4:41Speaker 1: come a little bit more. If I didn't already lay
- 4:43Speaker 1: out some hype right there. All I'm saying is I
- 4:45Speaker 1: like this football team. We're not going to get too high.
- 4:47Speaker 1: We're not going to get too low. And what broke
- 4:49Speaker 1: my right now, minus five and a half. Go ahead
- 4:50Speaker 1: and take it. Go ahead and take it. Hey, what
- 4:53Speaker 1: broke my heart was hearing Willie C.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Then after our episode last week, he started walking around
- 4:59Speaker 2: the office and he started saying that he's being shadow
- 5:01Speaker 2: banned by our office.
- 5:03Speaker 1: I'm being suppressed.
- 5:04Speaker 2: He's being suppressed. He's being shadow banned. And you gave
- 5:07Speaker 2: me a look that was like, et tu, Brute? Like,
- 5:10Speaker 2: what are you doing? You were my guy. And I
- 5:13Speaker 2: knew that I had that in the holster. And I
- 5:15Speaker 2: was like, I need to feed into the Nebraska. I
- 5:18Speaker 2: need to feed into it. Best birthday gift?
- 5:21Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Potentially it's in the running. I don't know. My wife
- 5:25Speaker 1: got me set up with some film study at the house.
- 5:27Speaker 1: She actually, so her gift to me on my birthday
- 5:30Speaker 1: was a, it's this Nebraska Cornhuskers book of all the
- 5:33Speaker 1: newspaper headlines. Like dating back, back in the day. Rolodex
- 5:39Speaker 1: in there. Of all the newspaper headlines from the Washington Post, maybe? Okay.
- 5:47Speaker 1: But yeah, all the newspaper clippings and headlines. This Nebraska.
- 5:50Speaker 1: I mean, from the kids, too. But wifey got it
- 5:54Speaker 1: set up. Dude, it was a good birthday weekend. Yeah.
- 5:57Speaker 1: Before we get into the birthday weekend, do we have some...
- 6:02Speaker 1: Some other housekeeping items? Yes, some housekeeping right here. Childhood
- 6:06Speaker 1: Cancer Awareness Month in the month of September. Shout out
- 6:10Speaker 1: Dylan Payne. Shout out Evie the Bray. But we have
- 6:12Speaker 1: these shirts up right now, BWTB.com. 100% of net proceeds
- 6:16Speaker 1: if you buy this shirt in our store online. 100%
- 6:18Speaker 1: of net proceeds is going to Alex's Lemonade Stand, and
- 6:22Speaker 1: we are also matching every dollar that we do raise.
- 6:25Speaker 1: We've had several bought, but go... Shop till you drop.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Go support Charlotte Cancer Awareness Month in the month of September.
- 6:31Speaker 1: That's the big shout-out. Big reminder for everybody out there
- 6:35Speaker 1: that taps in the For the Dad spot. Did you see, Will,
- 6:37Speaker 1: before we get to Sherm's comment, Evie attended her first
- 6:40Speaker 1: Huskers game? I saw that. I saw that. She had
- 6:43Speaker 1: the headphones on. She was rocking in Memorial Stadium. People
- 6:47Speaker 1: are like, oh, Willie, see, where's the hype videos before
- 6:49Speaker 1: the game? I know I've let some Husker fans down
- 6:53Speaker 1: by not having those videos go out. Busy season right now.
- 6:57Speaker 1: Busy season. Not saying they're out. Never say never. Okay.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Videos are shadow banned in the stadium, maybe. Maybe everybody's
- 7:07Speaker 1: shadow banned in Willie C from his Husker fandom. And
- 7:10Speaker 1: that's all right. That's a good place to be. They
- 7:13Speaker 1: know that you love them. Yeah. I have a write-in.
- 7:17Speaker 2: On the topic with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, this comes
- 7:21Speaker 2: from Nick Hayden. This is a really cool write-in and
- 7:23Speaker 2: story from one of our PT sickos that decided to
- 7:27Speaker 2: reach out to us just because of us helping tell
- 7:30Speaker 2: the story of Evie the Brave. He wanted to share
- 7:33Speaker 2: a little bit of his own experience with childhood cancer.
- 7:36Speaker 2: Back in 2014, his now sister-in-law, Megan, was diagnosed with
- 7:41Speaker 2: stage four, I'll give it my best shot, Alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma.
- 7:50Speaker 1: He said in parentheses, good luck with that one, Willie boy.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Otherwise known as ARMS. Megan was just 14 years old.
- 8:00Speaker 2: This was also around the time my now wife and
- 8:03Speaker 2: I started dating. I got to witness firsthand what childhood
- 8:06Speaker 2: cancer can do to a family, but I also got
- 8:09Speaker 2: to see the incredible difference a strong community can can
- 8:12Speaker 2: make when a family is going through the worst moments
- 8:14Speaker 2: of their lives. Unfortunately, after more than seven years of fighting,
- 8:18Speaker 2: Megan passed away in 2022, but before she did, Megan
- 8:24Speaker 2: accomplished some truly incredible things. She traveled to Washington, D.C.
- 8:29Speaker 2: to speak about the fact that childhood cancer research receives
- 8:32Speaker 2: only 4% of federal cancer research funding. She visited children
- 8:38Speaker 2: across the country, inspiring them to keep fighting She raised
- 8:43Speaker 2: more than a million dollars herself and helped fully fund
- 8:46Speaker 2: two research labs in Portland, Oregon, dedicated to finding better
- 8:51Speaker 2: treatments and ultimately beating childhood cancer. After Megan passed, my
- 8:55Speaker 2: father-in-law started the Megan's Mission Foundation to continue her fight
- 8:59Speaker 2: and carry on the legacy. Throughout the entire battle, her
- 9:02Speaker 2: dad was right there beside her. During one of the
- 9:05Speaker 2: most difficult periods that my wife's family has ever faced,
- 9:08Speaker 2: I got a front row seat to what being an
- 9:10Speaker 2: amazing father looks like. My father-in-law was not only running
- 9:14Speaker 2: our school district as superintendent, but he also made sure
- 9:17Speaker 2: to never miss his daughter's games or performances.
- 9:21Speaker 1: He made dinner.
- 9:22Speaker 2: He went to doctor's appointments. He had sleepovers with his girls.
- 9:26Speaker 2: He did all the little things that a great dad does.
- 9:29Speaker 2: Even while his family was facing something no family should
- 9:33Speaker 2: ever have to endure. He taught me more lessons during
- 9:36Speaker 2: the most difficult time of his life than he probably
- 9:39Speaker 2: realizes to this day. I still take every opportunity I
- 9:43Speaker 2: can to learn from him, especially now as my wife
- 9:45Speaker 2: and I get ready to welcome our own daughter in November.
- 9:49Speaker 2: Hearing Evie's story from her dad, Dylan, immediately reminded me
- 9:52Speaker 2: of my father-in-law. Dylan, I don't know ya, and I
- 9:55Speaker 2: don't know Evie, but I do know what it looks
- 9:58Speaker 2: like when a dad refuses to stop fighting for his daughter.
- 10:01Speaker 2: You're both badasses. And I have no doubt Megan is
- 10:04Speaker 2: looking out for you guys. Love you boys. Keep up
- 10:07Speaker 2: the great work. And as always, fuck childhood cancer. Hashtag
- 10:12Speaker 2: more than four. And that's in reference to the 4%
- 10:15Speaker 2: of federal spending dollars on cancer. Cancer research, going to
- 10:19Speaker 2: childhood cancer. That's Nick from Wisconsin.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Nick, thank you for the message. Thank you for the write-in.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Thank you for sharing the story, and that was also
- 10:28Speaker 1: very sweet of you to reach out and tell Dylan
- 10:31Speaker 1: How much him and the family's been fighting for Evie.
- 10:34Speaker 1: I started to feel it in my nose.
- 10:35Speaker 2: Oh, dude.
- 10:36Speaker 1: I started to feel it in my nose a little bit.
- 10:37Speaker 1: I fought that really, really hard.
- 10:40Speaker 2: And it's also, I know that his words, I don't
- 10:43Speaker 2: want to speak for Nick, but I feel like his
- 10:45Speaker 2: words go out to any listeners of this pod that
- 10:49Speaker 2: are facing or have loved ones facing childhood cancer.
- 10:54Speaker 1: You're all badasses, dude. Truly. Yeah. I can only imagine, man.
- 10:59Speaker 1: You want to hit some follow-ups? Follow-ups from last week's episode.
- 11:01Speaker 1: We had a little choking scare with Scott Zilla. And
- 11:05Speaker 1: I will say, Milk Team 6 APR report. APR, Charo laughed.
- 11:11Speaker 1: She thought it was a fun episode. She thought the
- 11:13Speaker 1: energy was good. She was laughing a lot of the episode. Okay, good.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So we had a good follow-up.
- 11:18Speaker 4: I did.
- 11:18Speaker 1: Before the episode came out, I told her. I kind
- 11:20Speaker 1: of told her what was... Okay, good. I said, yeah, sweetheart,
- 11:23Speaker 1: I just got to be honest with you. I didn't
- 11:27Speaker 1: tell you, but Scotty had a little bit of a
- 11:29Speaker 1: choking scare.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:30Speaker 1: At last week at the Luan birthday party.
- 11:34Speaker 2: No better dad hack than, I think it is a
- 11:37Speaker 2: dad hack, is delivering bad news to your wife via podcast.
- 11:41Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 11:42Speaker 2: Because it has come in handy for myself. So any
- 11:45Speaker 2: dads out there, just start a podcast.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Start a podcast.
- 11:48Speaker 2: No one even has to listen to it. Just post
- 11:52Speaker 2: anything you don't want to tell your wife in person.
- 11:54Speaker 1: Just send it to us. We'll tell her.
- 11:57Speaker 2: Hey, yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 1: We just get a bunch of write-ins next week or
- 12:01Speaker 1: voicemails like, hey, I've been wanting to tell my wife this.
- 12:04Speaker 1: Can't do it. I'm just going to do it through
- 12:05Speaker 1: your guys' show. Go tell the wife I can't mow
- 12:08Speaker 1: the lawn on Saturday.
- 12:09Speaker 2: I'm going to Brandon's for his birthday.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Can you tell wifey? Oh, my gosh. This one here
- 12:17Speaker 1: is from Nick C9 Sicko on YouTube. You got to
- 12:24Speaker 1: get the D-Choker and keep one in the car. I
- 12:27Speaker 1: got them for my daughter's preschool, one for the house,
- 12:30Speaker 1: and one for each of our cars. Ounce of prevention
- 12:34Speaker 1: is worth a pound of cure. Oh, a little bar
- 12:37Speaker 1: there from old Nicky Sicko. Let's go.
- 12:39Speaker 2: Nathan Hoskins7689 on YouTube says, No way. Sure, I'm wanting
- 12:45Speaker 2: to take a puppy home, but sent his other dogs
- 12:49Speaker 2: four states away with his parents.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Ha ha ha ha ha. Hey, bro, I was seeing
- 12:53Speaker 1: some of those comments where it's like, what the hell
- 12:55Speaker 1: is Sherm talking about? He just shipped his two dogs
- 12:58Speaker 1: to the state of Texas and saying like, oh, they
- 13:00Speaker 1: would have got another puppy last week. And they did not.
- 13:04Speaker 2: They commented before I came back on and prefaced that
- 13:10Speaker 2: that would have been the wifey.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Not me. That would have been the wifey. But didn't
- 13:13Speaker 1: the wifey bring up the idea of sending them down
- 13:14Speaker 1: to Texas?
- 13:15Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 13:17Speaker 1: So ain't no way she would have went back and
- 13:19Speaker 1: got herself another puppy.
- 13:20Speaker 2: Hey, listen, Willie, see? That's what I'm talking about. That's
- 13:23Speaker 2: what I've been screaming. How has it been going? Are
- 13:27Speaker 2: the dogs on vacation right now? Dude, update on the dogs. Actually,
- 13:32Speaker 2: they are thriving in Texas. As far as being at
- 13:37Speaker 2: a house that they're used to with the backyard that
- 13:39Speaker 2: they're used to, we're just getting... FaceTime's from Grandma all
- 13:43Speaker 2: the time because she wants to see Scarlet, obviously. But
- 13:45Speaker 2: then she's also giving us updates on the dogs. And
- 13:49Speaker 2: there's just way more to do. There's way more life.
- 13:52Speaker 2: There's way more wildlife. They're basically, they have a doggy door.
- 13:56Speaker 2: They get to zip in and out all day. They're
- 13:58Speaker 2: not behind some baby gate all day. So it has
- 14:03Speaker 2: been really good of cementing in my mind of, Dude,
- 14:07Speaker 2: the dogs are just absolutely ripping at Gammy's house. They're
- 14:10Speaker 2: allowed to sleep in the bed at Gammy's house. They
- 14:13Speaker 2: can run in and out of the doors. There's possums
- 14:16Speaker 2: on the telephone wires that Wrigley loves to bark at
- 14:19Speaker 2: all throughout the night.
- 14:21Speaker 1: So it was the right move. It was the right move.
- 14:23Speaker 1: And good for them. Like they, they, they went to
- 14:26Speaker 1: a Superbowl team. You know what I mean? They got
- 14:29Speaker 1: out of their shit situation and now they're thriving. Yes. Like, man,
- 14:33Speaker 1: I bet coach misses us right now, but we are
- 14:35Speaker 1: way better off out here.
- 14:36Speaker 2: Way better off. And the dude, the human food that
- 14:40Speaker 2: they're getting, they don't get human food with us. I
- 14:42Speaker 2: know Gabby's sneaking some human food to him.
- 14:45Speaker 1: What the hell?
- 14:46Speaker 2: We've been missing out on this shit. What a dog,
- 14:48Speaker 2: what a dog shit place we were at the time before.
- 14:50Speaker 2: We should have been at Jill's suck. We should have
- 14:52Speaker 2: been at Candy's the whole time. So they're loving it.
- 14:57Speaker 2: And as far as like the house, oh my gosh,
- 15:01Speaker 2: just the burden, the, the like every morning type stuff
- 15:06Speaker 2: that like I can now, I'm just able to focus
- 15:10Speaker 2: more on scarlet in the mornings scarlet and in the
- 15:14Speaker 2: evenings jill in the mornings jill in the evenings.
- 15:17Speaker 1: Just say it one of the best decisions you ever
- 15:19Speaker 1: made in your life was getting rid of your.
- 15:20Speaker 2: Dogs yeah but can i tell you a dad loss
- 15:22Speaker 2: just say that though oh best decision i've ever truly
- 15:25Speaker 2: best decision i've ever made as a father was sending
- 15:29Speaker 2: the dogs.
- 15:29Speaker 1: To grandma's house make them send in their eye turn
- 15:31Speaker 1: in their ipad you gotta cut them loose there's 31
- 15:33Speaker 1: other teams out there there's one i know that's gonna
- 15:36Speaker 1: love you And now they're getting rings, probably back-to-back rings.
- 15:40Speaker 2: And this is actually a massive dad loss underneath Scarlett's
- 15:45Speaker 2: high chair at the end of meals. I didn't realize
- 15:50Speaker 2: the work that old Wrigley boy was putting in. I
- 15:53Speaker 2: truly did not. The amount I have to clean up
- 15:56Speaker 2: now after every single meal is, it's a daunting task.
- 16:01Speaker 1: And I'm like, no, that's crazy. That's crazy.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Dog can eat.
- 16:07Speaker 1: You remember last week how you kind of derailed the
- 16:11Speaker 1: podcast with the news of old buddy getting paralyzed from
- 16:14Speaker 1: diving in the pool?
- 16:15Speaker 2: Yes.
- 16:16Speaker 1: You kind of put a weird error in the building?
- 16:18Speaker 6: Yes.
- 16:19Speaker 1: We didn't really know how to laugh anymore after that? Yes. Well,
- 16:22Speaker 1: we had somebody, Mason Hale.
- 16:24Speaker 4: Right in.
- 16:25Speaker 1: What's up, boys? This is Mason from Choctaw, Oklahoma. I
- 16:28Speaker 1: had to immediately pause the pod to write this to
- 16:31Speaker 1: tell y'all after hearing y'all talk about diving into pools.
- 16:34Speaker 1: A year and a half ago, he's on family vacation.
- 16:36Speaker 1: He had a couple cold ones, threw them back, thought
- 16:40Speaker 1: it was a smart idea to add a few tequila
- 16:42Speaker 1: shots in the mix while he's in the pool. One
- 16:43Speaker 1: thing led to another, and he decided to playfully dive
- 16:46Speaker 1: into this little pool. Mind you, it's only about five
- 16:48Speaker 1: and a half feet deep. It was more of an
- 16:50Speaker 1: angled dive instead of a head first, but it's still,
- 16:52Speaker 1: he hit his head at the bottom of the pool. Thankfully,
- 16:56Speaker 1: no major issues or concussion, but he scraped his forehead.
- 16:59Speaker 1: He sent in a little photo and basically got scalped.
- 17:03Speaker 1: Oh my gosh. He can't be drinking and diving. Nah,
- 17:06Speaker 1: he can't. He can't be drinking and diving. Especially in
- 17:09Speaker 1: the shallow end. Yeah, especially in the shallow end.
- 17:12Speaker 2: That derailment helped anybody out there.
- 17:16Speaker 1: What is scalping, too? That's when you're like, oh, my God. Well, actually,
- 17:20Speaker 1: I have a dad hack.
- 17:21Speaker 2: Don't drink cold ones and just dive into the shallow
- 17:24Speaker 2: end of a pool. I think that's a good dad hack.
- 17:27Speaker 2: It's a good dad hack.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Good dad hack. Don't drink a few cold ones and
- 17:31Speaker 1: go diving into the shallow. Don't be doing that shit.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Do a gainer. That's way better.
- 17:37Speaker 2: PT Sickos, we interrupt this episode to bring you Nanit.

- 18:46Speaker 2: you by Lucy. And guys, we talk about Lucy all
- 18:49Speaker 2: the time. We talk about how much we love Lucy.
- 18:52Speaker 2: We talk about how much we use Lucy. But I've
- 18:55Speaker 2: been only talking about these products uh, 12 milligram espresso,
- 19:00Speaker 2: because that is my speed. I want to tell you
- 19:03Speaker 2: about some other speeds that Lucy, uh, is bringing. And
- 19:07Speaker 2: that's our Lucy breakers. And the guys, they got all
- 19:10Speaker 2: these different flavors.
- 19:11Speaker 1: They got mint.
- 19:13Speaker 2: We got apple cider right here. We got berry citrus
- 19:17Speaker 2: right here.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Uh, these are an eight.
- 19:19Speaker 2: Usually when I do my breakers, I do eight milligram.
- 19:22Speaker 2: I know that they feature, uh, some lower milligrams, I
- 19:25Speaker 2: believe four, um, Is how they do it. But love
- 19:31Speaker 2: these breakers. Whenever I'm putting a Lucy in or just
- 19:36Speaker 2: kind of sitting there in the past when I use
- 19:39Speaker 2: different products, I would sit there and I'd ask myself,
- 19:41Speaker 2: why does the flavor go away so quickly? Like, I
- 19:44Speaker 2: feel like this experience of a nicotine pouch should be
- 19:48Speaker 2: something that's a bit more long lasting.
- 19:50Speaker 1: Lucy has answered the bell.
- 19:54Speaker 2: They have introduced this breaker system where there's actually a
- 19:57Speaker 2: flavor pod inside of the pouch that you can break
- 20:01Speaker 2: open and You can break it open at the very beginning.
- 20:05Speaker 2: I know a couple of users that do that. Will
- 20:07Speaker 2: Compton being one of them. I myself, I'll use it
- 20:11Speaker 2: for probably 10, 15 minutes. That's then when I do
- 20:16Speaker 2: the breaker. You can break it at any point. But
- 20:19Speaker 2: it's just that extra flavor, juice, kick that we all
- 20:23Speaker 2: know and love.
- 20:24Speaker 1: So, Lucy, are they the big guys? No, they're the
- 20:28Speaker 1: small guys.
- 20:28Speaker 2: They're the guys just like you and me, American made,
- 20:31Speaker 2: and they want to make sure you have the best
- 20:34Speaker 2: product possible. Lucy is the only pouch that delivers long-lasting
- 20:39Speaker 2: on-demand flavor. Get 20% off your first order when you
- 20:42Speaker 2: buy online at lucy.co forward slash FTD. Again, that's code FTD.
- 20:51Speaker 2: And here comes the fine print. Lucy products are only
- 20:54Speaker 2: for adults of legal age. And every customer is age verified. Warning,
- 20:59Speaker 2: this product contains nicotine. Nicotine is an addictive chemical.
- 21:04Speaker 1: Buddy, even last night, and I realize, too, I'm starting
- 21:07Speaker 1: to get a little bit more impatient with the whining
- 21:10Speaker 1: to where it's just like, hey, I just look at her.
- 21:12Speaker 1: Stop whining. To which I know it's almost going to
- 21:16Speaker 1: be a domino effect that it's going to make her
- 21:18Speaker 1: even sadder because now that has matted her.
- 21:21Speaker 2: And I don't know what to do. Because you got
- 21:24Speaker 2: to toughen up, man.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Yeah. Like last night we had lasagna, pasta, meat sauce,
- 21:33Speaker 1: and cheese. And she loves pasta.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Scotty isn't saying a word. Usually it's just chaos the
- 21:39Speaker 1: whole time at dinner. You're trying to get them to eat.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Mom and dad are usually finished first. We're trying to
- 21:43Speaker 1: play games to get them both to eat. Do that
- 21:45Speaker 1: whole song and dance. Scotty's silent the whole time. She's
- 21:49Speaker 1: hand in. She eats the whole thing. She gets two
- 21:52Speaker 1: extra servings. Of lasagna, because she wants more. And she's
- 21:56Speaker 1: yelling at Dadat, more. Dadat, more.
- 21:59Speaker 2: I got you, man. And I'm looking at Rue, I'm like,
- 22:02Speaker 2: she's cleaning her plate. Like, Rue, this is a meal
- 22:06Speaker 2: you're going to like. It's worthy of consumption.
- 22:09Speaker 1: Yeah, like this isn't, we're not trying to dance around
- 22:11Speaker 1: and give you something different that you're like, oh, I
- 22:13Speaker 1: don't like this. And it's like, dude, you never tried it.
- 22:15Speaker 1: Just try a bite and see if you like it.
- 22:16Speaker 1: This is pasta, meat sauce, and cheese. And, bro, I
- 22:21Speaker 1: was so internally fed up. Like, I'm keeping it together.
- 22:25Speaker 1: She goes to go, Mama, I want to sit by
- 22:27Speaker 1: you and eat. Go sit by next to Mama and eat.
- 22:29Speaker 1: If that's what's going to get you to eat your food,
- 22:30Speaker 1: go sit next to Mama and eat. She sits next
- 22:32Speaker 1: to Mama. She wants to just tell stories all the time. Hey, sweetheart, eat.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Eat your food. You're going to like that food. Look
- 22:37Speaker 1: at Scotty. She's on her third helping. And Rue, it's
- 22:41Speaker 1: like I'm getting up. Scotty gives me her plate. And
- 22:43Speaker 1: I just turn to Rue. I'm like, Rue, it's pasta,
- 22:47Speaker 1: meat sauce, and cheese. And I pause and we're just,
- 22:52Speaker 1: she's staring back at me and I'm staring at her.
- 22:53Speaker 1: And there's a part of my brain that almost flickers
- 22:56Speaker 1: to start smiling the way she's kind of just like
- 22:57Speaker 1: staring at me. And I'm like, you like pasta, meat, sauce,
- 23:01Speaker 1: and cheese.
- 23:03Speaker 4: Meat sauce.
- 23:03Speaker 1: She's like, what are these little tomatoes? It's sauce.
- 23:06Speaker 2: It's marinara sauce. It's what's on pizza. You love pizza.
- 23:09Speaker 2: You love pasta. You're putting the sauce on your little
- 23:13Speaker 2: pasta dumpling things that we get for you.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 1: You're going to love this meal. And we're both just,
- 23:19Speaker 1: it's like a stare off. And I'm like, you got
- 23:21Speaker 1: to eat it. And then I just walked back to
- 23:22Speaker 1: the pantry. And I'm just like, dog, I just, the
- 23:26Speaker 1: emotions that she's in right now. Great kid. Did she
- 23:30Speaker 1: eat it? Yeah, she came up. She's like, daddy, can
- 23:33Speaker 1: I have a cookie? And I'm like, no, you didn't
- 23:35Speaker 1: eat all your food. And then mama chimes in.
- 23:39Speaker 3: Oh.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Hey, she pretty much ate all of it. And then
- 23:42Speaker 1: I look back at the plate where she almost did
- 23:44Speaker 1: eat all of it.
- 23:45Speaker 4: And I'm like.
- 23:46Speaker 1: All right, I'm going to give you a piece of
- 23:47Speaker 1: this cookie, and then you're going upstairs and getting ready
- 23:49Speaker 1: for bed. A piece, not the whole thing. A piece. No,
- 23:52Speaker 1: she never gets the whole cookie. Oh, okay, good, good.
- 23:53Speaker 1: It's a piece. Yeah, yeah. Give me a piece. She
- 23:57Speaker 1: eats into my pajamas, PJs, your little ass upstairs. I also...
- 24:03Speaker 1: But I find myself getting just more frustrated with the
- 24:06Speaker 1: emotions of this four-year-old. Yeah, once you have it, I guess,
- 24:12Speaker 1: with two.
- 24:14Speaker 2: I worry that they might, like, what happens when it
- 24:18Speaker 2: starts multiplying on top of each other? Because in that moment,
- 24:21Speaker 2: you had Scottzilla that you could really celebrate there and
- 24:24Speaker 2: be like, Scottzilla is cleaning the plate. But what happens
- 24:27Speaker 2: when they both start whining? Does that happen? Dad's out there.
- 24:32Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 24:32Speaker 1: When they both start going. Does it compile? Has to. Yeah,
- 24:37Speaker 1: it does. Like, I'm just like, hey, stop. And then
- 24:42Speaker 1: usually I have to focus on Rue because this is like, Scottie's,
- 24:44Speaker 1: she's one.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 24:46Speaker 1: So it's like, I can't sit there and try and
- 24:48Speaker 1: talk rationally to Scottie yet. Usually Scottie's upset about something.
- 24:51Speaker 1: You got to work with her a little bit differently
- 24:53Speaker 1: because she's one. Rue, I almost put the expectation that
- 24:57Speaker 1: you know better, but I have to put, when I'm like, hey, stop.
- 25:01Speaker 1: And it might make Rue stop whining for a second
- 25:04Speaker 1: to hear what I'm saying, whereas Scottie's going to continue
- 25:06Speaker 1: to cry because she's upset about something. But then I
- 25:09Speaker 1: have to just break down to Rue how Scottie's one
- 25:12Speaker 1: And if it's something that's in Rue's favor, hey, I'm
- 25:14Speaker 1: going to get you this, whatever it is, because I
- 25:16Speaker 1: understand that Scotty is annoying the hell out of you.
- 25:20Speaker 1: But I don't know. I have to just compartmentalize and
- 25:22Speaker 1: work on one at a time. I have to get
- 25:25Speaker 1: Rue calm. That's all I have to do first. Once
- 25:27Speaker 1: I get Rue calm, hey, just patience with Dada. Dada,
- 25:29Speaker 1: trust me, I got your back. Let me handle Scotty.
- 25:32Speaker 1: I'll look at Scotty. Scotty, whenever this gets done, we
- 25:35Speaker 1: got to get it to Rue, so that way Rue
- 25:36Speaker 1: hears me say it. Then I focus solely on Scotty,
- 25:39Speaker 1: go and take her out of the room, calm her down.
- 25:41Speaker 1: But yeah, it compiles.
- 25:43Speaker 2: You have three years to get Rue officially on your
- 25:48Speaker 2: side because that's when Scottzilla is going to hit the
- 25:51Speaker 2: four mark.
- 25:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:52Speaker 2: And once you have Rue fully on your side, seven
- 25:57Speaker 2: or eight year old Rue, now we're operating.
- 25:59Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 26:00Speaker 1: Because Scotty, now she can get into the cabinet stuff with,
- 26:04Speaker 1: she loves grabbing the board games now. It's like, buddy,
- 26:07Speaker 1: I'm not going to sit here and play Candyland with you.
- 26:10Speaker 1: You're just going to knock over all the cards and
- 26:12Speaker 1: you're not even going to move the pieces the right way.
- 26:14Speaker 1: You're still goo goo gaga. Like you don't get it.
- 26:16Speaker 1: You're not fun yet. I know you want to play
- 26:18Speaker 1: this game. You don't know how to play this game yet.
- 26:22Speaker 1: She's got a share sparkle unicorns. I'm playing that with
- 26:25Speaker 1: him before mom comes home yesterday. It's a three, three
- 26:27Speaker 1: man weave on share sparkle unicorns. I got to keep
- 26:30Speaker 1: all the gems away from Scotty.
- 26:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:32Speaker 1: Cause you got to reach in and get a gym
- 26:33Speaker 1: and put them on the share sparkle unicorns. And I'm like, Hey,
- 26:36Speaker 1: it's Rue's turn to roll the dice. Rue rolls the
- 26:38Speaker 1: dice and goes. She puts her hand in the bag,
- 26:40Speaker 1: does all that stuff. Scotty tries to take the bag. No, no, Scotty,
- 26:42Speaker 1: it's not your turn yet. Scotty's now the troll in
- 26:45Speaker 1: the game. Scotty is the troll in the game. Then
- 26:48Speaker 1: if Scotty's trying to roll the dice, she wants to
- 26:50Speaker 1: roll the dice.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 26:51Speaker 1: So she has to take, let me see here. What
- 26:53Speaker 1: can I grab? What do you got? Oh, I'll use
- 26:56Speaker 1: this lollipop. she'll like take the dice and she sees
- 27:00Speaker 1: how we'll like jiggle it and roll it on the table.
- 27:02Speaker 1: She like takes the dice and takes it and she's
- 27:04Speaker 1: got to like smash it in her hand. So that
- 27:06Speaker 1: way she can like have her hand. And then she
- 27:08Speaker 1: like slowly puts her hand over the table and she's
- 27:10Speaker 1: just like, Oh, two!
- 27:13Speaker 2: She's got to draw two. It only, it only like
- 27:17Speaker 2: turns over one time.
- 27:18Speaker 1: And the die looks so big in her hand. She's
- 27:22Speaker 1: like holding.
- 27:24Speaker 7: It.
- 27:25Speaker 1: That's incredible.
- 27:27Speaker 3: I was going to say to Sherm's point about when
- 27:31Speaker 3: Scotty gets older and I don't mean to be like
- 27:33Speaker 3: a harbor of bad news, but I'm pretty sure the
- 27:36Speaker 3: picky eating stage gets worse from like six to 10.
- 27:39Speaker 1: The what eating stage? Like a picky eater. Oh, picky.
- 27:42Speaker 4: Oh yeah, yeah.
- 27:43Speaker 3: I feel like my own experience and everyone I know,
- 27:45Speaker 3: it's like, as you get older, all of a sudden
- 27:47Speaker 3: there's foods that you used to eat that you hate now.
- 27:50Speaker 3: And it gets really bad from like, at least I
- 27:52Speaker 3: was super bad from like five to maybe 10. I
- 27:55Speaker 3: think my parents said I was like, that was the
- 27:57Speaker 3: worst stretch where all of a sudden stuff I would
- 27:59Speaker 3: eat all the time. I was getting really weird about
- 28:02Speaker 3: certain things.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Yeah. Rue's a picky eater and she's headstrong too. Like it's,
- 28:10Speaker 1: I also, she's tough. This morning she told me she
- 28:12Speaker 1: don't like carrots anymore. I.
- 28:15Speaker 2: I just, I have to shout out, this is one
- 28:17Speaker 2: of my favorite follow-ups, because Deke and I actually laughed
- 28:21Speaker 2: about this after we recorded last week's episode of when
- 28:26Speaker 2: Chef was spilling his soul.
- 28:28Speaker 1: While we were doing the ice cream floats.
- 28:31Speaker 2: And mid-Chef spilling his soul, Gary Lloyd, author, wrote, Will said,
- 28:36Speaker 2: ice cream.
- 28:37Speaker 1: Interesting. Your brain was on the ice cream.
- 28:43Speaker 2: Oh, my God, this float. That float is amazing. Hey,
- 28:46Speaker 2: I love what you said. This, hey, this lollipop float.
- 28:51Speaker 1: Yeah, Chef, good job. Oh, by the way.
- 28:53Speaker 2: Chef, what were you talking about, too, Chef? It was
- 28:58Speaker 2: like something kind of deep.
- 28:59Speaker 1: Oh, like, thank you, my parents, for the year of
- 29:01Speaker 1: letting me back in their home. Chef's in a monologue,
- 29:08Speaker 1: being vulnerable, talking about his food. I feel like I
- 29:11Speaker 1: learned a lot during this time.
- 29:12Speaker 2: Oh my God, this caramel apple lollipop and some ice cream.
- 29:17Speaker 2: You guys got to try.
- 29:18Speaker 1: Go ahead, Chef.
- 29:19Speaker 2: Oh, that was so good, dude. Crack a cold one.
- 29:25Speaker 2: Do we want to jump into crack a cold one?
- 29:27Speaker 2: Speaking of lollipops, crack a cold one is always brought
- 29:32Speaker 2: to us by.
- 29:35Speaker 7: Olipop.
- 29:37Speaker 2: And we have our caramel apple seasonal flavors here with us.
- 29:41Speaker 2: I have a special Crack a Cold One, though, before
- 29:44Speaker 2: I get into my personal Crack a Cold One.
- 29:46Speaker 1: If that's okay with you. Dude, it's your show. Okay.
- 29:52Speaker 1: All of ours.
- 29:53Speaker 4: All of ours.
- 29:55Speaker 2: We have a very special wedding taking place this weekend.
- 29:59Speaker 3: Oh!
- 30:00Speaker 1: With one of our very own Deke Whiten.
- 30:05Speaker 4: Yes, sir.
- 30:06Speaker 1: And we had a little- Putting a bow on it
- 30:08Speaker 1: for real. Putting a bow on it for real.
- 30:10Speaker 2: We had a little something, something that we wanted to
- 30:12Speaker 2: give you, Deke. Just a tip. When you open this,
- 30:16Speaker 2: it's your left hand. You're going to put your thumb
- 30:19Speaker 2: and point your finger like that, and then you'll open it.
- 30:21Speaker 2: You'll see what you do next.
- 30:24Speaker 1: Deke getting married this weekend, putting a bow on the
- 30:27Speaker 1: entire operation. Dude, we're fired up. Very fired up. Then
- 30:33Speaker 1: who knows how quickly you get into buds. We have...
- 30:37Speaker 1: How quickly you get into buds. I won't spill the
- 30:39Speaker 1: entire point. We have a plan. And it is based around.
- 30:42Speaker 5: We have a very dear friend of mine getting married
- 30:45Speaker 5: next year around the same time, which we'll use as
- 30:47Speaker 5: our excuse for our one-year anniversary to take a trip.
- 30:49Speaker 5: And then we'll see where the life takes us after that.
- 30:52Speaker 5: We'll see what the PT6 operation looks like. Come on.
- 30:57Speaker 5: A little congrats just for you. Index finger through this
- 31:00Speaker 5: whole thumb and this whole tap them together while opening
- 31:03Speaker 5: this card.
- 31:03Speaker 1: Little hedgehog. Oh my gosh.
- 31:13Speaker 4: Little hedgehog.
- 31:16Speaker 1: And a lot of applause. Bravo.
- 31:17Speaker 3: Woo.
- 31:18Speaker 1: Thank you guys very much. This is great. Yeah. What's
- 31:22Speaker 1: it say? What's it say? Happy marriage. Love you from
- 31:25Speaker 1: Jack Hanning. That's chef. Thank you.
- 31:28Speaker 5: We have keep January 3rd open on the old schedule.
- 31:32Speaker 5: The Steelers are going to need their.
- 31:38Speaker 1: Really? Their boy on the stands. Cheer them on. We
- 31:40Speaker 1: love you.
- 31:40Speaker 3: Really.
- 31:40Speaker 1: Congrats to you and cat and Willie C loves you. Really?
- 31:45Speaker 1: You about to cry, dude?
- 31:46Speaker 4: Yeah, dude, we've been.
- 31:48Speaker 1: For anyone who doesn't know, the Pittsburgh Steelers are coming
- 31:50Speaker 1: to Nashville.
- 31:50Speaker 4: Oh, you're crying!
- 31:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:52Speaker 4: Yeah!
- 31:53Speaker 1: Well, so, like, we have.
- 31:54Speaker 5: Wow, okay, in my time living here, the Steelers have
- 31:57Speaker 5: never played here. Kat and I have always said if
- 32:00Speaker 5: they would, we'd try. Tickets are large because it is
- 32:04Speaker 5: the last game in Nissan Stadium. So we have made
- 32:06Speaker 5: the decision based on the wedding to just watch it
- 32:09Speaker 5: at home.
- 32:10Speaker 1: And so... Is it for real?
- 32:12Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 32:13Speaker 1: Oh yeah buddy you're gonna be tight if Steelers come
- 32:16Speaker 1: to town we know you love your Pittsburgh the city
- 32:18Speaker 1: of Pittsburgh we know you love your Steelers.
- 32:20Speaker 5: What's crazy is I'm almost crying too just the card
- 32:22Speaker 5: is just as cool thank you guys so much that
- 32:27Speaker 5: is unbelievable we we've talked about that game so much
- 32:32Speaker 5: and trying to and just like we're just like it's
- 32:34Speaker 5: just getting to the point of like let's just do
- 32:35Speaker 5: the wedding and be happy about it.
- 32:37Speaker 1: So thank you guys. I love you all very much.
- 32:39Speaker 1: And I think we all speak for the Papa Team
- 32:41Speaker 1: 6 community. If they could all write, if they could
- 32:43Speaker 1: all write, we love you, Deke. Congratulations. I'm sure all
- 32:46Speaker 1: of Papa Team 6, they'll be signing off in the comments.
- 32:48Speaker 4: Oh, big time.
- 32:48Speaker 1: They're also sending you to Nissan Stadium to see the
- 32:51Speaker 1: Pittsburgh Steelers.
- 32:52Speaker 4: That's amazing.
- 32:52Speaker 5: I also, let me get out in front of it now.
- 32:54Speaker 5: We planned this wedding over a year ago. I was
- 32:56Speaker 5: unaware Tennessee would be going to war against Texas. So
- 33:00Speaker 5: I do want to say we tried to skip our
- 33:02Speaker 5: own wedding.
- 33:03Speaker 1: It's impossible.
- 33:04Speaker 5: So I'm there with chef in moral and I'll miss
- 33:06Speaker 5: you guys and love you dearly, but I'll be watching
- 33:09Speaker 5: the game.
- 33:09Speaker 1: In the groom suite before my wedding. Have the most fun, dude.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Thank you. Have the most fun. It'll be a blast.
- 33:15Speaker 1: Don't drink too much and dive in a shallow pool. Yes.
- 33:18Speaker 1: No pools around. Maybe the hotel later. I don't know. Oh, yeah, yeah,
- 33:24Speaker 1: the pool at the hotel. You've been diving in it, though.
- 33:27Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? Shockwave.
- 33:29Speaker 5: The worst is this is going to be the episode
- 33:31Speaker 5: that her parents are like, let's all watch Derek's podcast
- 33:33Speaker 5: tonight as a family.
- 33:34Speaker 1: I got to go on a run. Couple coupons. Who
- 33:41Speaker 1: got waters? I'll go get waters for everybody. Who wants
- 33:43Speaker 1: a water? Thank you, guys. Yes, dude.
- 33:47Speaker 2: We're excited. Another crack of cold one. For myself, Jilly
- 33:53Speaker 2: Bean's B-Day went off without a hitch.
- 33:58Speaker 1: It went very well.
- 34:00Speaker 2: Some are saying that I completely redeemed myself for Mother's Day.
- 34:04Speaker 2: Some say I have room to improve. Who's saying you
- 34:07Speaker 2: have room to improve?
- 34:08Speaker 1: Myself. Myself.
- 34:10Speaker 2: Not everything came to fruition like I wanted it to,
- 34:14Speaker 2: but I felt like I did a way better job
- 34:17Speaker 2: of celebrating Jill's slash Um, it was just fun celebrating
- 34:22Speaker 2: Jill all weekend. We did two birthday dinners, one with
- 34:27Speaker 2: Scarlett and then one date night birthday dinner. So we
- 34:30Speaker 2: did like the bit more, uh, financially easier to do
- 34:36Speaker 2: a B day dinner with Scarlett and, uh, got to
- 34:39Speaker 2: celebrate her twice. And, um, then we went to, uh,
- 34:43Speaker 2: pastis here in Nashville, the French restaurant.
- 34:48Speaker 1: How was it?
- 34:49Speaker 2: Dude, it was really good. Have you been there, Deke, Pastis?
- 34:51Speaker 2: Not yet, but I've heard good things. Where's it at? Sorry,
- 34:55Speaker 2: did I say Green Hills? It's in Wedgwood, Houston. It's
- 34:57Speaker 2: not in Green Hills.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Oh, is that the one that's by Soho? Possibly. I
- 35:03Speaker 1: don't know where Soho is. Like kind of on that
- 35:04Speaker 1: like main woods with Houston. Oh, yeah. I mean, it's
- 35:06Speaker 1: on that street. It's part of that new build, all
- 35:08Speaker 1: that new stuff there.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Like that street is unbelievable. I think I've eaten there.
- 35:12Speaker 4: At Posse's?
- 35:12Speaker 1: It is good, yeah. Yeah, dude.
- 35:14Speaker 2: It was, oh.
- 35:14Speaker 1: I think. It was very good. There's a new Italian spot. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 35:20Speaker 1: We've ripped there. It is a good spot. It was great.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Julie Bean loved it.
- 35:24Speaker 2: We never really do the bottle of wine thing at dinner, but.
- 35:28Speaker 1: We bought a bottle of wine.
- 35:29Speaker 4: Yeah, you did.
- 35:30Speaker 1: Which was awesome. We kept the bottle.
- 35:32Speaker 2: We're going to do like a little candle in it
- 35:36Speaker 2: and let the wax melt down and stuff so it
- 35:38Speaker 2: looks all cool. And then I had like a little
- 35:43Speaker 2: thing set up for on the kitchen counter because she
- 35:46Speaker 2: had done that before. for me for Father's Day. And
- 35:48Speaker 2: it did make me really like feel special and celebrated.
- 35:51Speaker 2: And so I wanted Jilly Bean to feel the same way.
- 35:54Speaker 2: And we had like a little poster made and gave
- 35:57Speaker 2: Scarlett a marker. And she did all of her stuff
- 36:00Speaker 2: on there. And it said like, happy birthday from both
- 36:02Speaker 2: of us. But it was good, dude.
- 36:04Speaker 4: Good.
- 36:05Speaker 2: It's good to get to celebrate wifey, baby mama. My
- 36:09Speaker 2: wifey got to celebrate her boy.
- 36:10Speaker 4: Yes.
- 36:12Speaker 1: Birthday went really well. Got to wake up in the morning. Um,
- 36:16Speaker 1: to the kiddos, my wife made me this, uh, iced
- 36:19Speaker 1: Americano and she made like this cold foam to put
- 36:21Speaker 1: on top. It was phenomenal. This, uh, the fat of
- 36:24Speaker 1: coconut milk, a little bit of whole milk and a
- 36:27Speaker 1: little bit of maple syrup frothed up into a cold foam.
- 36:30Speaker 1: Oh my God. Delivered that. They each had a card
- 36:32Speaker 1: for me.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Baru.
- 36:35Speaker 1: Rue and Scotty. They want to give you the card.
- 36:38Speaker 1: Paris probably knows. They want to give you the card,
- 36:40Speaker 1: but they don't want you to read the card. They
- 36:42Speaker 1: want to. Dada, you got to open. I got you. Dada, no, here,
- 36:46Speaker 1: let me show you. Sweetheart, let Dada, this is your
- 36:48Speaker 1: gift to Dada. You just got to give it to
- 36:49Speaker 1: me and let Dada figure it out. They want to
- 36:52Speaker 1: read you the card. They want to point at everything
- 36:53Speaker 1: they're doing on it, which was sweet and awesome. Having
- 36:56Speaker 1: a little snuggle wrestling match, giving them kisses as they're
- 36:58Speaker 1: telling me happy birthday. Had a little cake. So funny,
- 37:03Speaker 1: Charles was like, I know you love, I have this
- 37:05Speaker 1: whole 30 biscuits and gravy that I do, but I
- 37:09Speaker 1: had to make it since I'm the one who makes it.
- 37:12Speaker 1: But Charles took the kiddos to Rue's Ballet so that
- 37:14Speaker 1: way I could just have some quiet time. I'm just
- 37:16Speaker 1: chefing it up in the kitchen. I got college game
- 37:18Speaker 1: day on and make some biscuits and gravy. We had
- 37:21Speaker 1: a little cake that they came out. The kiddos were
- 37:23Speaker 1: singing happy birthday to me. Rue, Charles tells me after
- 37:26Speaker 1: the fact, that Rue felt really bad for me on
- 37:31Speaker 1: the way home. Because she was wondering, why doesn't Dada,
- 37:35Speaker 1: our friend's not coming over for his birthday?
- 37:37Speaker 7: I know.
- 37:39Speaker 1: And she was really concerned about me being at home
- 37:42Speaker 1: by myself. Yeah. And we're going to go home and
- 37:45Speaker 1: have brunch with Dada and have a cake, but where
- 37:47Speaker 1: are his friends? And Charles trying to tell her that like, Dada,
- 37:50Speaker 1: this is what Dada prefers is to be a lone dog. Yeah.
- 37:55Speaker 1: He doesn't like a lot of people all the time. Yeah. Yeah.
- 37:58Speaker 1: But she's like, yeah, but. It's his birthday. It's his party.
- 38:02Speaker 1: And we're the only ones showing up for his party.
- 38:05Speaker 1: So sweet.
- 38:06Speaker 4: I know.
- 38:07Speaker 1: I know. And I was like, well, did you make
- 38:10Speaker 1: her feel better by the time you got home? She's like, yeah,
- 38:11Speaker 1: but you could just tell. She was just like, didn't
- 38:14Speaker 1: make sense to her that nobody's coming over.
- 38:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 38:19Speaker 1: She's like being extra. I'm wondering why she's being so
- 38:21Speaker 1: special to me when she got home. She just wanted
- 38:23Speaker 1: me to play. Hey, let's play a game.
- 38:26Speaker 2: Honey, you may need to pull aside Rue and tell
- 38:28Speaker 2: her that you have friends because she's worried.
- 38:32Speaker 1: She was worried.
- 38:33Speaker 2: I would have photos of said friends. I would show
- 38:35Speaker 2: her pictures because she wasn't believing.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Me in the car. She might actually be worried about
- 38:39Speaker 1: me this morning when we were having breakfast. Like, Scotty's
- 38:42Speaker 1: standing on her stepstool to eat. Rue sits in her
- 38:46Speaker 1: place in the corner at the island. Mama's sitting next
- 38:49Speaker 1: to Rue. There's a couple things just on the island
- 38:52Speaker 1: where I just didn't sit next to Charo. I sat
- 38:54Speaker 1: on the other corner of the island. So I'm just
- 38:57Speaker 1: kind of sitting solo once the eggs and everything get made.
- 39:01Speaker 1: And Charles makes the comment, oh, you didn't want to
- 39:02Speaker 1: sit next to us? I'm like, oh, a couple things.
- 39:04Speaker 1: A couple things were in the spot, so I just
- 39:06Speaker 1: figured I'd just sit here. A couple minutes later, Rue
- 39:09Speaker 1: makes her way over to sit by me at the
- 39:12Speaker 1: corner of the island. And I'm thinking in my head,
- 39:14Speaker 1: based on what my wife told me the other night,
- 39:15Speaker 1: I'm like, is Rue just concerned that Dada doesn't have
- 39:18Speaker 1: anybody that loves him? She's like, Dada, I'll sit next
- 39:22Speaker 1: to you. I'm like, oh, I appreciate it, sweetheart.
- 39:24Speaker 2: I don't know if it's pity now.
- 39:26Speaker 1: Maybe milk that, though. You know what I'm saying? You
- 39:30Speaker 1: know dad is feeling alone.
- 39:32Speaker 2: Because it's always kind of with the kids, like they're
- 39:34Speaker 2: doing something to get something.
- 39:37Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying?
- 39:38Speaker 2: But now, like, you're getting some true emotional support from
- 39:42Speaker 2: your daughter.
- 39:44Speaker 1: Where's that emotional support when she won't finish her plate? Amen, Jeff.
- 39:48Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 39:51Speaker 1: She doesn't have her hand out at all other than
- 39:53Speaker 1: to give Dada a hug. Sweetie, you know why Dada
- 39:56Speaker 1: doesn't have friends? My friends told me. They'll start coming
- 40:00Speaker 1: over when you start eating your dinner.
- 40:06Speaker 2: They said I'm a bad Dada because my sweet, precious
- 40:10Speaker 2: little angel girls, they don't finish their dinner.
- 40:13Speaker 1: But why? You make friends when their kids eat their dinner.
- 40:19Speaker 1: That's just how it goes. When you're a dada, of course.
- 40:22Speaker 1: That's life.
- 40:23Speaker 2: That's like a dada thing. And start calling people like
- 40:27Speaker 2: in front of her and be like, so excited to
- 40:30Speaker 2: talk to Uncle Sherman. Let's call Uncle Sherman and let's
- 40:34Speaker 2: tell him a funny story.
- 40:35Speaker 4: Blah, blah, blah.
- 40:36Speaker 1: Put it on speakerphone. Let her hear it. Hear it.
- 40:39Speaker 1: Let it hit voicemail. Oh, he must be busy. Have
- 40:43Speaker 1: you sent me a text when you don't answer the call?
- 40:46Speaker 1: Not answering unless we're eating dinner. Did Rue finish her plate? No,
- 40:54Speaker 1: she didn't tonight. Blah, blah. We'll be seeing you. Have
- 40:58Speaker 1: a good night. Bro, I might pull that move. That
- 41:01Speaker 1: might work.
- 41:02Speaker 4: It might.
- 41:02Speaker 1: Yeah, I think that that can work. I think that
- 41:04Speaker 1: that'll work. We'll give it a trial run for next
- 41:07Speaker 1: week's episode. Let's do it. A dad act. We'll just
- 41:10Speaker 1: create our own dad act. That's a good dad act.
- 41:13Speaker 1: That's your daughter. Your dad has no friends. Uncle Sherman
- 41:19Speaker 1: doesn't want to talk to you? Oh, he just sent
- 41:21Speaker 1: me a message. Says he'll answer when you eat your dinner.
- 41:26Speaker 3: Oh.
- 41:27Speaker 1: But I get it.
- 41:28Speaker 2: I mean, it's going to be kind of hard for
- 41:30Speaker 2: you to finish your dinner, right? He says as soon
- 41:32Speaker 2: as you clean your plate, we'll get on the phone.
- 41:36Speaker 2: You think you could do it?
- 41:37Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. I could eat it. Oh, that's a
- 41:40Speaker 1: dad act. Am I worried?
- 41:41Speaker 4: Maybe. Maybe.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Time will tell. Was that your crack a cold one,
- 41:45Speaker 1: by the way, your birthday? That, and also just a
- 41:49Speaker 1: subtle one, subtle crack a cold one. All of this
- 41:53Speaker 1: stuff that I'm complaining about that I know other parents
- 41:57Speaker 1: do with the young kiddos that are very frustrated. Dude,
- 42:00Speaker 1: I feel like your kids are the only humans on
- 42:03Speaker 1: earth that you can be frustrated. Let's just say it's
- 42:08Speaker 1: a full day of frustration, a full day of whining,
- 42:11Speaker 1: a full day of like, You and mom, you've been
- 42:14Speaker 1: in the trenches and it's like you finally get them
- 42:16Speaker 1: down and you're like, oh, thank God. I feel like
- 42:19Speaker 1: your kids are the only humans on the planet to
- 42:22Speaker 1: where when I walk into my closet to change, to
- 42:26Speaker 1: get into shorts, to get in something comfortable, where I
- 42:29Speaker 1: look at the photos I have with them up with
- 42:32Speaker 1: their smiles and everything else. And then instantly it puts
- 42:37Speaker 1: a smile on your face. That you like, you know,
- 42:40Speaker 1: you miss them or you're like, God, I just love
- 42:42Speaker 1: them so much. They're the only humans that can just
- 42:46Speaker 1: change your mood in an instant. God, that's so true.
- 42:50Speaker 2: The amount of times that I look at that little
- 42:52Speaker 2: nanite cam, like once we put Scarlett down and.
- 42:55Speaker 1: I just want to go wake her up.
- 42:58Speaker 2: Even though I know that that's the worst thing I
- 43:00Speaker 2: could possibly do in that moment.
- 43:02Speaker 1: We had a really hard day with her. She was teething.
- 43:05Speaker 2: I just want one last little smile or hug or
- 43:08Speaker 2: like kiss.
- 43:09Speaker 1: That's so true, dude. I was thinking about that last
- 43:13Speaker 1: night because we didn't have a tough bedtime, but I
- 43:17Speaker 1: knew I was very frustrated with her not eating the pasta,
- 43:21Speaker 1: meat sauce and cheese. And when I was seeing that
- 43:24Speaker 1: we did a little photo booth at Eleanor Market a
- 43:26Speaker 1: couple weekends ago. So I have the little photo thing
- 43:29Speaker 1: printed out. And I see me like kissing her on
- 43:31Speaker 1: the cheek and she's smiling and I just see the
- 43:33Speaker 1: photo and I just have a smile on my face
- 43:35Speaker 1: and I just thought to myself, I just had a tough,
- 43:38Speaker 1: like she can be so frustrating sometimes.
- 43:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 43:40Speaker 1: And our kids might be the only humans on earth
- 43:42Speaker 1: that can snap us out of whatever we're feeling and
- 43:45Speaker 1: put a smile on our face at the end of
- 43:46Speaker 1: the day. I'm not saying like our wives or our
- 43:49Speaker 1: best friends can't, but you might like you say you
- 43:52Speaker 1: might see a photo with my wife, but we might
- 43:53Speaker 1: be at arms about something going on. So I see
- 43:56Speaker 1: the photo and I'm like, oh man, we got to,
- 43:57Speaker 1: you know, we got to figure this out. But you're
- 43:59Speaker 1: thinking of whatever dilemma that you might be in.
- 44:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 44:02Speaker 1: But you see your kiddos in a family photo or something.
- 44:05Speaker 1: You're just like, oh God, I'm so lucky.
- 44:07Speaker 2: It's such a wild concept to then like apply that
- 44:11Speaker 2: to anything outside of you and your child.
- 44:14Speaker 1: Like you're a diehard Bills fan.
- 44:17Speaker 2: You're in the AFC championship. Josh Allen fumbles. You're not
- 44:24Speaker 2: going to the Super Bowl. You're probably really pissed at Josh.
- 44:26Speaker 2: But then you see like a picture of Josh Allen
- 44:28Speaker 2: on Instagram. All of a sudden you're like, Man, that's wild, dude.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I just can't. I can't even be mad at it.
- 44:33Speaker 1: You know what I mean? That doesn't even make sense. No,
- 44:37Speaker 1: I mean, that kind of does it. If he has
- 44:39Speaker 1: a bad game. That makes sense.
- 44:40Speaker 5: Kat sent me a video this morning and said, we
- 44:41Speaker 5: like Josh Allen, right? And it was him with the
- 44:43Speaker 5: big hat on just going.
- 44:45Speaker 2: I guess you know what Josh Allen might be the
- 44:47Speaker 2: worst example of that now that I think about it
- 44:51Speaker 2: but it is it's like we love him but if
- 44:55Speaker 2: he's lost like three in a row and thrown six
- 44:58Speaker 2: picks and now they're second in the division like you
- 45:01Speaker 2: might look like man we need him to pick his
- 45:03Speaker 2: shit up But if your kiddo is on a three-day
- 45:06Speaker 2: losing streak with massive turnovers, you see a photo of
- 45:10Speaker 2: them at the end of the day and you're like,
- 45:11Speaker 2: oh God.
- 45:12Speaker 4: I'm lucky.
- 45:12Speaker 1: But they're the best.
- 45:13Speaker 2: I'm lucky to have them. Also, a little dad hack
- 45:21Speaker 2: that I wanted to throw in there before we do call-ins.
- 45:26Speaker 1: Sticky toys in the bath.
- 45:28Speaker 2: I don't know what your bath time situation looks like,
- 45:32Speaker 2: I don't think I've ever seen like y'all's bath time
- 45:35Speaker 2: set up.
- 45:36Speaker 1: We got like a basket in the corner with a
- 45:38Speaker 1: bunch of toys, like the foam letters, duckies and shit
- 45:40Speaker 1: that you can play with. God, those are so, yes.
- 45:42Speaker 1: And then you're talking about like the suction ones that
- 45:44Speaker 1: are against the bathtub.
- 45:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:47Speaker 2: Dude, we got some for Scarlett. They're just like little
- 45:51Speaker 2: Amazon cheapy. ones that you can stick onto the wall
- 45:55Speaker 2: and you pour the water into it and it's like
- 45:57Speaker 2: a flower that will then bud or like a giraffe's
- 46:00Speaker 2: head will like come out and start going like that
- 46:03Speaker 2: when you pour the water into it. And Scarlett just
- 46:06Speaker 2: stands there now. She doesn't even sit in her bath.
- 46:08Speaker 2: She like stands just doing that, which is kind of
- 46:11Speaker 2: optimal for bath time cleaning.
- 46:15Speaker 1: Makes it really easy. That's a good dad hack. I
- 46:17Speaker 1: have one here from Patrick Carter. for a dad hack
- 46:21Speaker 1: got a hack for college football Saturdays and found it
- 46:23Speaker 1: by accident Saturday mornings I wake up start a load
- 46:26Speaker 1: of laundry then take off for my boys to rip
- 46:28Speaker 1: some flag football by the time I'm back the laundry
- 46:31Speaker 1: is done so once you're all set up for that
- 46:33Speaker 1: first game to kick off you grab the laundry and
- 46:35Speaker 1: start folding normally I'm not halfway through the first game
- 46:39Speaker 1: when wifey comes in and says is this what we're
- 46:42Speaker 1: gonna do all day but not anymore She walks in
- 46:46Speaker 1: and sees me folding that laundry and doesn't say a word.
- 46:49Speaker 1: The trick is you can't fold too fast. Pace yourself. Also,
- 46:54Speaker 1: got to make sure you keep the rotation of machines
- 46:56Speaker 1: going so you don't run out. My nine-year-old son, Bear,
- 46:59Speaker 1: loves college football. My wife is not nearly as pissed
- 47:02Speaker 1: that I'm hitting nine hours of ball and the laundry
- 47:05Speaker 1: gets done. Love you guys in the pod. Keep up
- 47:07Speaker 1: the awesome work. Patty C.
- 47:09Speaker 4: P.S. Willie.
- 47:11Speaker 1: I don't cut my grass either. That shit sucks. That's
- 47:14Speaker 1: what the kids are for. Builds character. Hey, there we go.
- 47:19Speaker 1: There's multiple dad hacks in that, by the way. Yeah.
- 47:22Speaker 1: I was just about to say cutting, you know, mowing
- 47:25Speaker 1: your yard. You get a little.
- 47:27Speaker 2: Arm attachment for your push mower and you can have
- 47:30Speaker 2: YouTube TV going. Make sure you cook some big old dinner,
- 47:35Speaker 2: lots of plates, lots of pans, use all the dishware possible.
- 47:39Speaker 2: Then you can do some dishes. You're in the kitchen,
- 47:42Speaker 2: you're doing dishes, but you're watching the game. Just create
- 47:45Speaker 2: all these tasks that you have to do. Just sit
- 47:49Speaker 2: around and knock them out.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Dishes are a sneaky move. I'm big on hitting the
- 47:53Speaker 1: dishes after dinner. And I just pick up on it
- 47:56Speaker 1: as I'm doing it, but I felt myself gravitating toward
- 47:58Speaker 1: hitting the dishes.
- 47:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Because then it's like finishing up dinner time or running
- 48:04Speaker 1: around with the kiddos. They love doing dance parties. Like
- 48:06Speaker 1: I like dancing, but not every night. You know what
- 48:09Speaker 1: I mean? What is the deal with that? I only
- 48:11Speaker 1: got so many moves in the arsenal. Yeah. And you
- 48:15Speaker 1: can only listen to Let It Go so many times.
- 48:18Speaker 2: You know?
- 48:19Speaker 1: Dude, we got this Italian banger that we rip every night.
- 48:23Speaker 1: The Chi Chi Cha Cha song. That was the one
- 48:26Speaker 1: where when we were in Italy, it's got the mascots
- 48:29Speaker 1: on the stage. And I kind of just show up
- 48:31Speaker 1: my face like, what the hell is going on here?
- 48:32Speaker 1: But they love that song. I love that song.
- 48:34Speaker 2: And that one's still ripping to this day.
- 48:36Speaker 1: Yeah. And the Zootopia one. There's a Zootopia song that
- 48:42Speaker 1: is a banger that we rip. But they love dance parties.
- 48:45Speaker 1: But you kind of get some alone time here just
- 48:47Speaker 1: hitting the dishes. Gotta hit the dishes. And I lock it.
- 48:51Speaker 2: That's why I lock in with my audio books is
- 48:52Speaker 2: when I'm mowing or cooking. doing dishes or something where
- 48:56Speaker 2: I'm just like by myself, mopping, mopping's a good one. Um,
- 49:01Speaker 2: you brought up something though that made me think, oh, Frozen. Dude,
- 49:06Speaker 2: I think we've watched Frozen every single day in my
- 49:09Speaker 2: house for the last like three months straight.
- 49:13Speaker 1: I think it's, it's played in my house every single day.
- 49:15Speaker 1: Is that normal?
- 49:17Speaker 2: Because Jill said Scarlett loves the movie Frozen look at
- 49:21Speaker 2: her honey and it's true every single day every single
- 49:24Speaker 2: night when we do our little bedtime routine we'll just
- 49:27Speaker 2: have Frozen on in the background but I'm worried is
- 49:30Speaker 2: that going to affect her mentally if she's just watching
- 49:33Speaker 2: the same movie over and over and over again.
- 49:36Speaker 1: It's a good question.
- 49:39Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 49:40Speaker 1: I don't know how much screen time she's getting throughout
- 49:41Speaker 1: the day. And then I'm not going to be the
- 49:42Speaker 1: parent that's like, hey, they shouldn't be doing that much
- 49:45Speaker 1: screen time. Yeah. You know what I mean? I'm not
- 49:47Speaker 1: trying to sit up here. I'm not trying to sit
- 49:49Speaker 1: on some high horse and talk about screen time. I'll
- 49:51Speaker 1: tell you what we do, and then it's like, you
- 49:54Speaker 1: know what I mean? Like, we do the coupons and
- 49:56Speaker 1: everything else. Yeah. What you're going to come to, because
- 49:59Speaker 1: Scotty's not there yet, but it's that age, because Rue
- 50:01Speaker 1: was big on Frozen. They'll be pissed about watching anything else.
- 50:05Speaker 3: Damn.
- 50:06Speaker 1: I knew it. So you'll be cornered into something until
- 50:09Speaker 1: you just show them kind of the world that there's
- 50:10Speaker 1: a Rolodex. Like movie night is always something different. We
- 50:13Speaker 1: haven't watched Frozen in a while. We'll probably get to
- 50:15Speaker 1: it because I want Scotty to sit still during a movie.
- 50:17Speaker 1: And we've hit the Disney Frozen books at nighttime.
- 50:20Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 50:20Speaker 1: For Scotty that she loves. But Rue was very much cornered.
- 50:26Speaker 1: She had us cornered at all times for Frozen. And
- 50:29Speaker 1: she would be pissed if we watched anything else. Scarlett's
- 50:32Speaker 1: not at the age yet where she can do all
- 50:33Speaker 1: the talking and snap back at you yet. Yeah, yeah.
- 50:36Speaker 1: How old is Scarlett again? A year and three months. Yeah,
- 50:39Speaker 1: so Ash, yeah, I mean, you're getting closer. Like, once
- 50:41Speaker 1: you get in that 16, 22-month range, like, Scottie isn't
- 50:45Speaker 1: stuck on something yet. Rue, at that age of Scottie,
- 50:48Speaker 1: she would just want Frozen. And then I want to
- 50:51Speaker 1: say it was like How to Train Your Dragon was
- 50:52Speaker 1: kind of the first, maybe I could be talking out
- 50:55Speaker 1: of my ass here. Or Princesses, like a different princess
- 50:57Speaker 1: is what got her, got us to experiment outside of Frozen.
- 51:01Speaker 1: But you get them zoned in on one movie, like
- 51:03Speaker 1: one world, they're all about that world. They don't make
- 51:08Speaker 1: Frozen anymore. That might be... Oh, yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 51:11Speaker 1: They don't make frozen eggs. They don't. Chef, I didn't even...
- 51:14Speaker 1: Forgot about the dad hack a couple weeks ago. Here's
- 51:16Speaker 1: the Jungle Book. Instead, they make this one now. They
- 51:19Speaker 1: don't make... Oh, they make that one now.
- 51:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Oh, here's a Little Giants because it's football Saturday right now.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Or Cinderella.
- 51:24Speaker 2: I may need Uncle Chef's help and I can do
- 51:28Speaker 2: two dad hacks in one. We can call Uncle Chef...
- 51:32Speaker 2: and uncle chef could deliver the bad news of they
- 51:35Speaker 2: don't make frozen what frozen's not working on your tv
- 51:38Speaker 2: i'm in as long as i could do like a
- 51:40Speaker 2: big time hollywood producer voice i'm like.
- 51:42Speaker 3: Nah kid that's sippish that ship has sailed i just.
- 51:48Speaker 2: We may have to facetime you then you can have
- 51:49Speaker 2: a cigar in your mouth.
- 51:50Speaker 3: Yes yes like a maybe a suit or like a robe.
- 51:54Speaker 2: Honey this is this is uncle chef our disney exec
- 51:58Speaker 2: friend You know Uncle Chef. He's a Disney executive.
- 52:01Speaker 1: What's up, kid?
- 52:03Speaker 4: Ah, hurry up. Oh, my gosh.
- 52:12Speaker 2: I have another dad hack here. Get an individual first
- 52:16Speaker 2: aid kit. This comes from Mitchell Benson 2689. get individual
- 52:22Speaker 2: first aid kit for both vehicles. Most likely you'll always
- 52:25Speaker 2: be close to one of those instead of searching for
- 52:28Speaker 2: a store.
- 52:29Speaker 4: Amen.
- 52:30Speaker 1: Amen.
- 52:31Speaker 2: And then Mitchell Vincent also wrote in and said, boys,
- 52:36Speaker 2: the shoes. Talk about a problem that needs to be fixed.
- 52:41Speaker 2: My 17 month old daughter won't stop curling her damn toes.
- 52:45Speaker 2: Nine times out of 10, we just end up in
- 52:47Speaker 2: Crocs before everyone knows. is over it after 10 tries
- 52:51Speaker 2: and a full meltdown. Little bit of a hack. We
- 52:53Speaker 2: did figure out though, that has helped tremendously. If they
- 52:58Speaker 2: have socks on, pinch the top of the socks near
- 53:01Speaker 2: their ankle and pull it up towards their knees with
- 53:05Speaker 2: one hand and put the shoe on with the other hand.
- 53:08Speaker 2: keeps their toes straighter, and the socks slides a little
- 53:12Speaker 2: bit easier.
- 53:14Speaker 1: Good dad hack. Good dad, double dad hack. Double dad hack.
- 53:17Speaker 1: And people on the first aid, they might be like, oh,
- 53:19Speaker 1: Captain Obvious have a first aid. I'm telling you, if
- 53:21Speaker 1: you're a new dad, sometimes you don't know until the
- 53:23Speaker 1: moment's happened. It absolutely seems obvious. I don't have one.
- 53:27Speaker 1: But then you're out in Florida driving around looking for
- 53:29Speaker 1: a first aid kit because your little one cut her
- 53:32Speaker 1: eye by falling on the table. Oh, I forgot about that.
- 53:36Speaker 1: That's where that dad hat comes in is Root busted
- 53:39Speaker 1: her eye open and I'm out driving to a CVS
- 53:41Speaker 1: or a Walgreens to find a first aid for the
- 53:43Speaker 1: butterfly band-aids. And it is, you're sitting there like, yeah,
- 53:46Speaker 1: why don't we have a first aid? How dumb are we?
- 53:49Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 53:49Speaker 1: It seems obvious, but any new dads that might be
- 53:51Speaker 1: rocking right now that aren't already on top of that,
- 53:54Speaker 1: it's kind of like, oh yeah, yeah, yeah. It does
- 53:57Speaker 1: seem like an obvious thing.
- 53:57Speaker 2: That is an obvious. That might even be a this
- 54:00Speaker 2: week I need to get that done. Because I do
- 54:02Speaker 2: not have a first aid. Jill has a ton of
- 54:05Speaker 2: stuff at our house, but we don't have anything in
- 54:07Speaker 2: the car.
- 54:07Speaker 4: Right. Mobile.
- 54:08Speaker 1: Affordable.
- 54:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 54:12Speaker 1: Shout outs? Shout outs. Dude, my first shout out is
- 54:15Speaker 1: just going to go to my wife. Phenomenal birthday. There's
- 54:18Speaker 1: part of my wife, she was just asking me kind
- 54:21Speaker 1: of throughout the day, is this your dream life? Like,
- 54:24Speaker 1: is this what you, cause she felt like there's just
- 54:26Speaker 1: not enough birthday. Like we did a little, we went to, uh,
- 54:30Speaker 1: we went to South hall and got away on Saturday.
- 54:33Speaker 1: Like after we did the whole birthday brunch and everything else,
- 54:35Speaker 1: the in-laws came over to watch the kids, watch the house,
- 54:37Speaker 1: do bedtimes, all that stuff. Charlie and I got out
- 54:39Speaker 1: of Dodge early afternoon on Saturday. We got in the
- 54:43Speaker 1: room and I'm like, I laid on the bed. I
- 54:45Speaker 1: flipped on the multi-view YouTube TV, had this four screens
- 54:48Speaker 1: going with college football. And she's just making sure like,
- 54:52Speaker 1: are we doing what you want to do? And I'm like, sweetheart,
- 54:54Speaker 1: if I could just watch ball all day, like this
- 54:57Speaker 1: is the life she's reading a book. She's taking a nap.
- 55:00Speaker 1: She's getting re-energized, but she's like concerned that there wasn't
- 55:04Speaker 1: enough birthday. And I'm like this sweetheart, you know, this
- 55:07Speaker 1: is it.
- 55:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 55:08Speaker 1: Just uninterrupted got ball on. I'm in the group chats
- 55:11Speaker 1: with the boys being nasty to each other, talking some shit,
- 55:17Speaker 1: just watching ball. Now the one caveat that she was
- 55:20Speaker 1: like kicking herself for is our dinner reservation was at
- 55:22Speaker 1: seven o'clock. Because I kind of looked at her like,
- 55:25Speaker 1: can we kick it up to five? We weren't able
- 55:27Speaker 1: to kick it up to five, but I'm like, it's,
- 55:29Speaker 1: you know, who plays at night? And I'm like, LSU
- 55:32Speaker 1: Ole Miss. Not only that, Huskers play at 6 p.m.
- 55:37Speaker 1: It's a big game. No, it's not the biggest. It's
- 55:38Speaker 1: North Dakota. But you know I love watching the Scurs.
- 55:42Speaker 1: Pack the old Nebraska shirt. Like it's the most important
- 55:47Speaker 1: slate of the day. You got Florida Auburn. You got
- 55:51Speaker 1: Ole Miss LSU. Games got delayed. Games got delayed. Yeah,
- 55:56Speaker 1: games were getting delayed. And we're in prime time. She's like, well,
- 55:59Speaker 1: we'll see if the restaurant has a TV. And I'm like,
- 56:01Speaker 1: I don't think it does, but let's hope. Cause I
- 56:03Speaker 1: don't want to be the guy sitting there on my phone.
- 56:05Speaker 1: Like while we're on a date, I know it's my birthday.
- 56:07Speaker 1: I can do whatever I want. It is your birthday.
- 56:09Speaker 1: It is your birthday. She was making that known.
- 56:10Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 56:11Speaker 1: She's like, if not, you can, we can have the
- 56:13Speaker 1: phone out and you can watch. I was like, all right.
- 56:15Speaker 1: You know, we've been to this restaurant before January. It's
- 56:17Speaker 1: at South hall and we go and sit down and
- 56:19Speaker 1: we're kind of in the booth. You know how you
- 56:21Speaker 1: have like the long booth and they have like a
- 56:23Speaker 1: tabletop for two. Yes. Down the booth or in the middle,
- 56:27Speaker 1: we're in a middle one. So there's a couple, there's
- 56:30Speaker 1: dates happening on each side of us. Yeah. So I
- 56:32Speaker 1: don't want to seem like the asshole where I just
- 56:34Speaker 1: got my phone out. I did.
- 56:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 56:35Speaker 1: But then you feel like you're getting judged because you're
- 56:38Speaker 1: on a date with wifey. She's sitting across and I
- 56:41Speaker 1: got YouTube TV out on the side. Other guys locked
- 56:45Speaker 1: in with their date. Got the sound down, but I
- 56:47Speaker 1: got LSU Ole Miss on. I got kind of, you know,
- 56:49Speaker 1: the four screen at a time going on the phone,
- 56:51Speaker 1: but it's a little too small. So I got LSU
- 56:52Speaker 1: Ole Miss because I wanted to watch that one. Checking
- 56:54Speaker 1: in on the Scurs, checking in on Florida Auburn. But
- 56:58Speaker 1: I had to watch LSU Ole Miss. I got a
- 57:00Speaker 1: dad hack for you. A simple one. A birthday boy pin.
- 57:05Speaker 1: You put the birthday boy pin on the shirt. That's
- 57:08Speaker 1: a good point. Because there was some like, I kind
- 57:12Speaker 1: of feel like an asshole doing this. And you're not.
- 57:15Speaker 1: It's your birthday.
- 57:16Speaker 2: You're the birthday boy. You get your big old, get
- 57:18Speaker 2: a big one so they can read it real easily.
- 57:20Speaker 2: So when they're sitting there, they're going, look at this dickhead, dude.
- 57:23Speaker 2: Because my wife, she was trying to make me feel comfortable.
- 57:25Speaker 2: She's like, no TV is in here. And I'm like, yeah,
- 57:28Speaker 2: the waiter came over, kind of took our drink order.
- 57:30Speaker 2: She's like, what are you thinking about right now? I'm like,
- 57:31Speaker 2: I'm thinking about LSU Ole Miss. Like what's happening? Like
- 57:34Speaker 2: Ole Miss is up right now. Like this could be
- 57:36Speaker 2: a throttling with Lane Kiffin coming to town. She's like,
- 57:39Speaker 2: pull it out on your phone. I'm like, dude, we
- 57:41Speaker 2: got dates on each side of us. She's like, it's
- 57:43Speaker 2: your birthday. You can do whatever you want. As long
- 57:46Speaker 2: as you say so.
- 57:46Speaker 1: And I kind of maneuver it to where it's like,
- 57:48Speaker 1: you know, phone's right here, but I maneuver it sideways.
- 57:50Speaker 1: So it seems like my wife's involved on the game.
- 57:53Speaker 1: She loves the ball as much as you. She wanted
- 57:56Speaker 1: to watch.
- 57:57Speaker 2: Because some people, they can't mind their own business. There's
- 58:01Speaker 2: probably some couple in that restaurant that the guy's just
- 58:04Speaker 2: fighting himself to go, I got to.
- 58:05Speaker 1: Go say something. I heard an older gentleman next to
- 58:07Speaker 1: me talking about LSU Ole Miss. I'm like, Ole Miss
- 58:10Speaker 1: is up right now. Hey, inadvertently, the guy's sitting.
- 58:14Speaker 3: based on the phone side might have been relieved and
- 58:17Speaker 3: snuck a couple of peeks in and goes, oh my God,
- 58:18Speaker 3: this guy pulled out the phone. I can't do that
- 58:21Speaker 3: right now. Thank God this other guy had the nuts
- 58:24Speaker 3: to pull the phone out and put it on.
- 58:26Speaker 1: Now I can peek. The birthday pin is a great
- 58:28Speaker 1: call because then when the waiter would come over, even
- 58:30Speaker 1: the waiter like standing over and talking about the specials
- 58:32Speaker 1: and I got, the screen is playing like while I'm
- 58:35Speaker 1: looking up at him and I see him glance down
- 58:37Speaker 1: at it a couple of times. But even that feeling
- 58:40Speaker 1: of like, I just want to tell him, hey, it's
- 58:41Speaker 1: my birthday. I'm watching some balls. Some restaurants will even
- 58:45Speaker 1: tell you, hey, no phones.
- 58:46Speaker 4: Right.
- 58:47Speaker 1: You put it away.
- 58:47Speaker 3: Right.
- 58:48Speaker 2: But they see that birthday boy pin, they go, oh,
- 58:50Speaker 2: so sorry, sir. Sorry for interrupting.
- 58:53Speaker 1: Happy birthday, boy.
- 58:53Speaker 4: I like that, dude.
- 58:56Speaker 1: It could work. But shout out to my wife. Shout
- 58:59Speaker 1: out to my wife. She crushed it on my birthday.
- 59:00Speaker 1: Got some good sleep. Got the coupons. Couple coupons. Rocking
- 59:04Speaker 1: and roaring shockwave. Put a bow on.
- 59:06Speaker 2: Hey did y'all also y'all hit the um i heard
- 59:10Speaker 2: that they have like really good massage stuff there too
- 59:13Speaker 2: no we didn't hit like a massage you just got
- 59:15Speaker 2: kind of like a spot like a day pass where
- 59:17Speaker 2: we could access the tubs the saunas everything else yeah
- 59:21Speaker 2: we had that for the next jill jill's putting that
- 59:24Speaker 2: in my ear for a while that's why i knew
- 59:25Speaker 2: what south hall was When you initially told me about it.
- 59:29Speaker 1: I got to make that happen. Because I'm thinking, am
- 59:31Speaker 1: I putting enough time into wifey? Because I am so
- 59:34Speaker 1: engaged with football the whole time. She had her Kindle out.
- 59:38Speaker 1: She's reading. Yeah. She's reading like the whole time. But
- 59:41Speaker 1: part of you is like, I know it's kind of
- 59:43Speaker 1: us doing a getaway. And then I'm like, I know
- 59:45Speaker 1: it's my birthday. So maybe she doesn't feel any type
- 59:47Speaker 1: of way that I'm just glued to everything football right now.
- 59:50Speaker 1: I don't know. You get into those zones. She made
- 59:53Speaker 1: me feel very comfortable about it.
- 59:54Speaker 4: Good.
- 59:54Speaker 2: Because we've been to the beach before, Jill and I, pre-Scarlet.
- 59:59Speaker 2: And all she wants to do on the beach is
- 1:00:01Speaker 2: lay out and read. And she is the happiest camper
- 1:00:05Speaker 2: in the entire world. Does not need anything from me
- 1:00:08Speaker 2: except just sit on her Kindle and read.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: That's the positive is Charlie is a massive bookworm. Yeah.
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Massive bookworm. Do we want to jump into Collins? Do
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: we have a shout out? Do we have a shout out?
- 1:00:21Speaker 4: I read.
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: I felt like I did. There we go. Oh, you
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: read your shout out. I have a birthday shout out
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: as well. I actually didn't. I didn't read mine, but
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: you read yours because I gave my own shout out.
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: I shout out my wife. She didn't write in. I
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: didn't read the shout out. So we have two shout outs.
- 1:00:38Speaker 1: Got one from Daniel Taylor.
- 1:00:39Speaker 4: Ready to go.
- 1:00:39Speaker 3: Perfect.
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: And I have birthday Jess Dowdy who wrote in. Jess said,
- 1:00:45Speaker 2: Dear Will and Sherman, first of all, hats off to
- 1:00:47Speaker 2: both of you for creating this amazing podcast. My husband
- 1:00:50Speaker 2: is from Tennessee and I'm from Nebraska and we met
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: in Kansas City, which has turned our home into a
- 1:00:56Speaker 2: glorious melting pot of accents and barbecue styles. We recently
- 1:01:01Speaker 2: moved to Tennessee to raise our beautiful baby girl, Coraline.
- 1:01:05Speaker 2: And let me tell you, we're determined to get her
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: that sweet southern twang. She's just a few days younger
- 1:01:13Speaker 2: than Scottzilla, and we even call her Corzilla, because much
- 1:01:18Speaker 2: like Godzilla, she has the power to wreak havoc and
- 1:01:21Speaker 2: capture hearts all at once.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: Here are some pictures of the fam. Oh, I love that.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: They have a... Corzilla!
- 1:01:28Speaker 7: A T!
- 1:01:29Speaker 2: Corzilla T, which is... Mega hyphy. She is reaching out
- 1:01:34Speaker 2: to wish a happy birthday to her husband, Brandon. He's
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: been a faithful listener since the early days of busing.
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: And it is a hardcore, hardcore for the dad's junkie.
- 1:01:47Speaker 2: Some would even say sicko. His birthday is on September 25th.
- 1:01:51Speaker 2: And let's just say he's not exactly a birthday person,
- 1:01:54Speaker 2: more like a Grinch when it comes to birthdays. So
- 1:01:57Speaker 2: I thought, what better way to sprinkle some joy into
- 1:02:00Speaker 2: his day than with a little shout out from you two.
- 1:02:03Speaker 2: He's the main caregiver for our daughter while I get
- 1:02:06Speaker 2: to work from home. And let's be honest, his days
- 1:02:09Speaker 2: are filled with enough toddler drama to be a reality show.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: Happy birthday, Brandon. Happy birthday, man. Happy birthday. I got
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: one here from Daniel Taylor. DT Taylor, PT Sicko from
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: Soda No. 1, and look forward to listening every week
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: here in Central Florida. The U Canes, C-A-N-E-S, Canes, Canes, Canes.
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: I wanted to see if y'all boys can hit the
- 1:02:31Speaker 1: bong for my little dude, Miles Jamison's second birthday. The
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: boy's changed my life in ways I never imagined. I'm
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: so grateful for every single day that I'm given with him.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: He's absolutely built and lives in the A-gap. 40 pounds,
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: 38 inches tall, and four and five T clothes. We
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: might have a future Canes offensive tackle on our hands.
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: But on a serious note, love, the love, compassion, patience, presence,
- 1:02:58Speaker 1: and sense of self-worth I have discovered since becoming a
- 1:03:02Speaker 1: dad is beyond my wildest dreams. This day is badass.
- 1:03:06Speaker 1: The day his badass milk team six mama delivered him,
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: my purpose, my drive, my reason became crystal clear for
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: raising this little man. I wanted to send this to
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: you guys in hopes that one day I can go
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: back and show him just how much he means to
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: me and his mommy and how much he is loved, cherished,
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: and cared for. Happy birthday, Miles, baby. Love y'all, boys.
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: DT Taylor. Please have a picture of that. Photos ripping
- 1:03:29Speaker 1: and rocking. Offensive tackle, maybe a three-tech. Who knows? Some
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: long arms, get your hands inside on the chest, control
- 1:03:40Speaker 1: the breastplate. That's not a four-year-old. You're telling me that's
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: not a four-year-old? Hey, look at my kid. 40 pounds.
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: Look at him. 38 inches tall. Three foot two, 40 pounds, man. Monster.
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: I have a voicemail, a very special voicemail. Okay. We
- 1:04:01Speaker 1: hit the shorter one first?
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: Let's hit the shorter one first. 601 the dad, you
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: want to be featured on the show? You want to
- 1:04:07Speaker 2: be featured? 601 The Dads. Now, both of these come
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: from someone you know.
- 1:04:13Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: First one, you know him very well.
- 1:04:15Speaker 6: Hey, guys.
- 1:04:24Speaker 1: Pause it. Pause it. Can't pause. The voice memo. No, no.
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: I have it saved as a... I can send it
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: to you. Is it up as loud as it can go?
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: That's as loud as it can go. Okay. Do you
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: want me to put it in between us? Is that easier?
- 1:04:38Speaker 4: Yeah. Okay.
- 1:04:42Speaker 8: Hey, guys. Taylor LeJuan here. Long-time listener, second-time caller. Just
- 1:04:47Speaker 8: wondering your opinion on fall weddings. No specific reason, just
- 1:04:52Speaker 8: the fact that today it's a little cooler in Nashville, Tennessee.
- 1:04:55Speaker 8: And I thought to myself, man, we got Rocky Top
- 1:04:59Speaker 8: this weekend. We got a lot of fun stuff going on.
- 1:05:01Speaker 8: It would just be crazy if someone had a fall
- 1:05:04Speaker 8: wedding taking place. So we'd love to know your guys' thoughts.
- 1:05:06Speaker 8: And how you feel about fall weddings. And is that
- 1:05:09Speaker 8: good for dads? Is it not good for dads? Just
- 1:05:14Speaker 8: really want your unbiased opinion. Appreciate you guys.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: We couldn't hear it. That sucks. So our call in
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: there from Taylor LeJuan, father of three, got a newborn
- 1:05:25Speaker 1: girlie at home, Goldie. Shout out Taylor LeJuan. Shout out Taylor. Yeah,
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: what was it? Because we couldn't hear it over here.
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: Our thoughts on fall weddings. Our thoughts on fall weddings.
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I keep glancing over at our man, Deke. I know.
- 1:05:37Speaker 5: I think they sound lovely. Fall's the best time of
- 1:05:40Speaker 5: the year. I guess where I lean as a human
- 1:05:42Speaker 5: being with, it was Taylor.
- 1:05:44Speaker 2: Taylor.
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: Taylor LeJuan.
- 1:05:46Speaker 5: Is that we have a guy here named Taylor, too,
- 1:05:49Speaker 5: who is supposed to be like the Jack Skellington of
- 1:05:52Speaker 5: Spooktober and fall and like pumpkins and things.
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: Oh, no.
- 1:05:56Speaker 5: It's an interesting take for this Taylor LeJuan, who might
- 1:05:59Speaker 5: be different, might be the same, to crap on the
- 1:06:02Speaker 5: beautifulness of love in his favorite season of the year.
- 1:06:06Speaker 5: And it's just really good that I, who have a
- 1:06:08Speaker 5: wedding this weekend, and it is fall today, got ahead
- 1:06:11Speaker 5: of it on the show already and illustrated that my
- 1:06:13Speaker 5: wonderful fiance picked this date Because Tennessee had a bye
- 1:06:16Speaker 5: week last year and it's not the Bama game. So
- 1:06:19Speaker 5: all of those combined with me being from the north
- 1:06:21Speaker 5: and only really caring about Sundays. I just hope that
- 1:06:24Speaker 5: that Taylor LeJuan is not the same Taylor LeJuan next
- 1:06:26Speaker 5: door who's supposed to tout all things pumpkin and spice.
- 1:06:29Speaker 5: And a little lackluster. Not even wearing a hoodie today.
- 1:06:32Speaker 5: So if I'm hearing you clearly.
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: If you're going to throw the question mark of fall
- 1:06:39Speaker 1: weddings in there, the burden it can place on the invitees.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: You also got to throw in fall spooktober festivities on
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: the weekends. Events around spooktober, events around Halloween.
- 1:06:55Speaker 5: Yeah, I guess why leave the couch at all if
- 1:06:58Speaker 5: that's your take? It's interesting- If I see Taylor at
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: a pumpkin patch on a Saturday, I'm going to be like, well,
- 1:07:03Speaker 5: that's just different.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: Yeah. What's up with that, man? Yeah. I thought it's
- 1:07:07Speaker 1: all ball.
- 1:07:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: It's either all or nothing apparently. So like, uh, thank
- 1:07:14Speaker 1: you for the call in Taylor. Thank you, Taylor.
- 1:07:16Speaker 4: Thank you, Taylor.
- 1:07:18Speaker 2: Deke, shout out wedding this weekend in the fall. Shout
- 1:07:20Speaker 2: out Deke wedding this weekend.
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: Congratulations. Congratulations. Listen, I had to go to one last
- 1:07:28Speaker 1: year in the theme of Spooktober as well with my boy.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: You got to. I got to go. Got to go
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: to a wedding. From my boy B-Rad, the biscuit, the
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Bontair biscuit. He had one where we had to travel
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: out to wherever Sleepy Hollow is. Is that New Jersey?
- 1:07:43Speaker 1: New York.
- 1:07:44Speaker 4: New York.
- 1:07:44Speaker 6: New York.
- 1:07:46Speaker 4: New York.
- 1:07:49Speaker 1: Loved it.
- 1:07:50Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: Loved it. Um, it's tough. Like if I'm living in
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: my own selfish world, I would love to have zero
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: obligations other than the ones that are created with the family.
- 1:08:04Speaker 1: So when people have like a fall wedding and it,
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: maybe it lands on a big weekend to where you
- 1:08:09Speaker 1: feel like you're picking and choosing between one of the two.
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: And really it's just, It's not even that. You just
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: wish it was on a different date. But that's my world.
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: That's my selfish world. I understand that they have their
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: world and that's what works best for them. So you
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: need to prioritize them if you care for them in
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: your life. It's a dilemma. Selfishly, personally, it's a dilemma.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: You hope that the person on the other side, all
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: the empathy on both sides is there if you do
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: fall short. I don't know. Fall is a beautiful time
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: of year to have a fall wedding. I will say that.
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: That's a serious note. I do feel like it is
- 1:08:49Speaker 1: a beautiful time of year. I agree.
- 1:08:53Speaker 2: Technically, a fall wedding haver, mine was November 18th, is
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: a beautiful time of year.
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: Year for weddings.
- 1:09:03Speaker 5: Derek yes thank you who was playing that day during
- 1:09:06Speaker 5: B-Red's thing the fact that you don't remember.
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: It was on a Saturday so Huskers are always playing
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: on Saturday yeah sure and I get that who were
- 1:09:17Speaker 1: they playing.
- 1:09:20Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: We took care of business. Maybe. Maybe. I don't know
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: if we did.
- 1:09:24Speaker 5: My point here being, if this wasn't the same weekend
- 1:09:28Speaker 5: that Bustin' with the Boys was going to do a
- 1:09:29Speaker 5: tailgate and the show, and it was Tennessee and all
- 1:09:32Speaker 5: those things, we would look back a year from now
- 1:09:34Speaker 5: and I'd be like, I don't even know who's playing.
- 1:09:36Speaker 5: I know I'm going to remember who's playing, and I
- 1:09:38Speaker 5: know I'm going to call Chef after the Vols handle business,
- 1:09:41Speaker 5: say congratulations, now I'm going to go handle business. But
- 1:09:44Speaker 5: I will say, just to push back on everybody, more
- 1:09:46Speaker 5: games will always be played.
- 1:09:48Speaker 4: Taylor.
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: LeJuan.
- 1:09:50Speaker 4: LeJuan.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: LeJuan. I will say I am bummed. I'm very bummed.
- 1:09:54Speaker 5: We were really upset when we heard when everything was
- 1:09:57Speaker 5: kind of organized because we literally picked this weekend because
- 1:10:00Speaker 5: the Vols had a bye week last year. Like it
- 1:10:02Speaker 5: was very organized and thought. And then every week that
- 1:10:05Speaker 5: we kept finding out more information about the whole team
- 1:10:07Speaker 5: going to Knoxville, I was like, we can't get out
- 1:10:10Speaker 5: of this, huh? She's like, it's in two weeks. They're like, no,
- 1:10:13Speaker 5: we can't get out of this. Said obligations, man.
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: No doubt. No doubt. Because when you go to the wedding,
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: it's a moment for the fellas to ball bust the
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: groom on you having us here during a football Saturday.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: And then you're kind of locked in arms in whatever
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: building you're in around the wedding, watching the games and
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: who Ron and everything else. Yeah. Greed. The only disagree
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: I'll give you, no one in Pittsburgh cares outside of
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: it being a fun game. Like no one has ties
- 1:10:42Speaker 1: like Baylor balls, Nebraska. That's not a thing for all
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: my friends. We all go, oh, I got money on
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: this game or that game, and we'll get into it.
- 1:10:50Speaker 1: If we would have done this on a Sunday, nobody
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: would have came because the Steelers play Sunday. And so
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: that is like, it's a northern thing, really, from where
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: I'm at, too.
- 1:10:58Speaker 4: No, I don't hold.
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: To me, it's like... It's like I'm busting Caleb Williams'
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: balls right now for having the straight hamstring and having
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: the theatrics that he had on the field. Because that's like,
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: if you're in the locker room, you're ball busting about
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: that stuff. Am I actually questioning his toughness and everything else? Like, no,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: deep down, no. Like, bro, you're an NFL quarterback. Like,
- 1:11:20Speaker 1: you're in the big leagues. Like, I'm not questioning that whatsoever,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: but you know you have a ploy to bust your
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: boy's balls about something. And it's like, I don't hold
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: anything against you, but it's a ploy. It's a moment
- 1:11:30Speaker 1: where I can kind of bust your balls whatsoever. when
- 1:11:32Speaker 1: I'm going to be there doing the wedding and also
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: watching games and getting some camaraderie with the guys that are,
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: we're all kind of bitching and complaining about like, we
- 1:11:39Speaker 1: got the games. Hey, what's going on in that game? Oh,
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: the ceremony, the ceremony, stand up, stand up. Hey, what's
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: going on in that game?
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:11:44Speaker 1: What is Derek doing? Then you've got to bust their
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: balls after the fact.
- 1:11:49Speaker 2: Yes, absolutely. Absolutely. I, I am sad that we are
- 1:11:55Speaker 2: missing it. And I do hope that it is an
- 1:11:58Speaker 2: awesome evening and love you.
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: Love you lots. Dude, we love you. Thank you, Taylor,
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: for the call in. Thank you, Taylor. Intern Chris. Can
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: we illustrate the conversation leading up to this or do
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: you want to do that after? You can illustrate it. Yeah,
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: I think context is great.
- 1:12:19Speaker 5: The only context, he has been texting the three of
- 1:12:22Speaker 5: us on the side for the story he's going to
- 1:12:24Speaker 5: illustrate for a little while now. And last week I
- 1:12:28Speaker 5: texted him, I was like, hey, anytime you call in,
- 1:12:30Speaker 5: text me so I can find it. Yesterday, hey, Chris,
- 1:12:33Speaker 5: you keep telling us you're going to call in. Text
- 1:12:35Speaker 5: me if you can find it. On the drive in
- 1:12:37Speaker 5: this morning, Chris let me know he had forgotten to
- 1:12:39Speaker 5: call in because he went to the bars after class.
- 1:12:43Speaker 5: And so I really do. That doesn't sound like the
- 1:12:45Speaker 5: intern Chris we know. I think Chris is in a hole.
- 1:12:47Speaker 5: He needs us. Texas A & M goes down. I
- 1:12:50Speaker 5: think our buddy Chris just needs a little love right now.
- 1:12:55Speaker 4: Goomberay.
- 1:12:58Speaker 2: Intern chris intern chris and of course uh our call-ins
- 1:13:02Speaker 2: are presented by gravely let's hop into our call-in this week.
- 1:13:10Speaker 7: Will sherb chef deke hi it's uh chris um your
- 1:13:17Speaker 7: intern um I don't even know what I would call it.
- 1:13:21Speaker 4: I guess this could be like catching up with Chris,
- 1:13:24Speaker 4: you know.
- 1:13:25Speaker 6: But it's been, you know, a tumultuous month since school
- 1:13:29Speaker 6: started for my senior year.
- 1:13:32Speaker 4: And when I say that, I mean.
- 1:13:33Speaker 6: Olipop has saved my life recently. And I figured it
- 1:13:40Speaker 6: would be no better way than to call you about it.
- 1:13:42Speaker 6: But to summarize, I was having some bad stomach issues
- 1:13:48Speaker 6: on Wednesday.
- 1:13:48Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:49Speaker 6: Horrible, horrible, horrible.
- 1:13:51Speaker 4: Tried everything.
- 1:13:52Speaker 6: Tried all the remedies they recommend. And then it was
- 1:13:55Speaker 6: leading up to the football game on Saturday. And I
- 1:13:58Speaker 6: worked the game on Saturday. It was like wireless camera.
- 1:14:00Speaker 4: I walk around the stadium.
- 1:14:03Speaker 6: And the turf, like, around the stadium was 167 degrees.
- 1:14:10Speaker 6: And let me just tell you, I wasn't able to
- 1:14:12Speaker 6: hold many things inside myself, if you get what I mean.
- 1:14:16Speaker 4: And it was going to be tough. And, well, Olipop
- 1:14:23Speaker 4: saved me.
- 1:14:23Speaker 6: I went there on Friday, and I was able– I
- 1:14:26Speaker 6: just downed four Dr. Feelgood Olipops in a row because
- 1:14:29Speaker 6: it said doctor on them. And, man, I was able
- 1:14:32Speaker 6: to flush out my system before the game Saturday, and
- 1:14:35Speaker 6: I felt great.
- 1:14:36Speaker 4: So, Olipop.
- 1:14:38Speaker 6: Olipop genuinely– I mean, that thing saved my life.
- 1:14:42Speaker 4: So, for real. So, if anyone– you know, people in college,
- 1:14:46Speaker 4: they focus on a lot of drinks. But Olipop, man–
- 1:14:50Speaker 4: that should be the drink that goes there. And then,
- 1:14:53Speaker 4: you know, just kind of chilling.
- 1:14:55Speaker 6: In college now, but I want to ask y'all, is
- 1:15:01Speaker 6: there anything I should do for my senior year that
- 1:15:05Speaker 6: you would recommend that I go out and try or
- 1:15:07Speaker 6: something that you may regret that you didn't do in
- 1:15:10Speaker 6: college that maybe I should go do? Is there a
- 1:15:12Speaker 6: challenge you have for me? that's kind of where I'm
- 1:15:15Speaker 6: at right now. I'm trying to figure out how to
- 1:15:17Speaker 6: maximize my senior.
- 1:15:18Speaker 4: Year, you know?
- 1:15:18Speaker 6: So I figured, you know, I could call the, you know,
- 1:15:21Speaker 6: the unction or, you know, the, for the dash and
- 1:15:24Speaker 6: whatever the function is that y'all would call.
- 1:15:27Speaker 4: Yourselves, you know?
- 1:15:28Speaker 6: Um, and you know, is what should I do for myself?
- 1:15:36Speaker 5: I received a text from Chris after this voicemail that said, well,
- 1:15:39Speaker 5: I didn't know there was a time limit, but it
- 1:15:41Speaker 5: cut me off. And he goes, I can call in
- 1:15:43Speaker 5: after class if you guys want me to while you're recording.
- 1:15:46Speaker 5: So the voicemail's perfect.
- 1:15:48Speaker 2: Digestive health! That's what they're there for. Thank you, Olipop.
- 1:15:53Speaker 2: Do we have anything for young intern Chris? Chef and
- 1:15:58Speaker 2: I were thinking a felony.
- 1:16:00Speaker 1: I was going to say on the student level, I
- 1:16:04Speaker 1: wish I would have been a little bit more loose
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: in college, but I mean, I was just all ball,
- 1:16:09Speaker 1: so I don't feel like I have any advice for
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: him on that level. I have a weird one.
- 1:16:15Speaker 2: I know A & M would actually be, he goes
- 1:16:18Speaker 2: to Texas A & M.
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: Tough, overrated ball club. Willie C. I love Elko. I
- 1:16:27Speaker 1: will say I love Elko. I do. I truly do.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: He does. But they got to show up. Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: And Chris, we have some footage of Chris on the
- 1:16:39Speaker 2: sidelines from one of the broadcasts. That might be a
- 1:16:41Speaker 2: fun little throw that in to the show. He also did,
- 1:16:45Speaker 2: before I give him my advice, he's putting feelers out
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: there of a potential run it back internship. Feelers are
- 1:16:55Speaker 2: being thrown out there. He's talking maybe even a For
- 1:16:57Speaker 2: the Dad specific internship.
- 1:16:59Speaker 1: Let's see if the Papa Team 6 community right now,
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: if they can sound off in the comments about catching
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: up with Chris. Catching up with Chris. Or possibly a
- 1:17:07Speaker 1: running back internship with Chris. That could be fun.
- 1:17:10Speaker 2: My advice for him, this is a weird one, but
- 1:17:13Speaker 2: it would probably be fine at Texas A & M.
- 1:17:15Speaker 2: When I think back to Baylor and the campus, there
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: were only certain schools that I went into as a student.
- 1:17:23Speaker 2: to do my classes, but there's like all these old historic,
- 1:17:27Speaker 2: like really beautiful buildings on campus that you can just
- 1:17:30Speaker 2: go into at any time and go look around. And
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: so I feel like I explored 30% of Baylor's campus.
- 1:17:38Speaker 2: And I know it's probably the same for Texas A &
- 1:17:41Speaker 2: M with how big their campus is. It's like, go
- 1:17:43Speaker 2: explore the campus, like places that you've never been before
- 1:17:47Speaker 2: and go check out some spots.
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: That's some good, just now that you're a father. Good
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: advice for the young lad. Yeah? Yeah, responsible.
- 1:17:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like, oh, Sherman was fun in college. It's
- 1:18:02Speaker 2: like Chef and Deke, they brought up a felony. Yeah, felony.
- 1:18:06Speaker 2: You don't have to worry about owning a gun. Like,
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: it's great. Like a car jack? Flights are awesome. Chef,
- 1:18:14Speaker 2: did you have something?
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: Yeah, you're not too far removed from your senior year. Yeah,
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: I just finished up two years ago, which it goes
- 1:18:20Speaker 3: by really quickly. I would say senior year is usually
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: the time where you start thinking about getting out of college.
- 1:18:26Speaker 3: You're like, I'm ready to get out of here. You're
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: looking for jobs. Soak in all the stuff. Just do everything.
- 1:18:34Speaker 3: You're a senior.
- 1:18:34Speaker 4: Do more.
- 1:18:35Speaker 3: Go hang out with your friends because after college, everyone's
- 1:18:37Speaker 3: going to split. You won't see a lot of friends
- 1:18:40Speaker 3: as much as you usually do. Don't take moments for
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: granted because... Although there's awesome parts of like post-grad and
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: like getting an actual job, making actual money. there's certain
- 1:18:51Speaker 3: things about college that I miss so much. I miss
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: like a Friday, like right before a game, you can
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: feel like a big game coming up and you're like,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: all your buddies are together. And it's just like, there
- 1:19:00Speaker 3: are certain things that you will never, ever, ever in
- 1:19:02Speaker 3: your life get back again. That is so tailored to
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: that moment, especially at a school like A & M.
- 1:19:08Speaker 3: So just do it all. Don't, don't do less and go,
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: I'm just ready to get out of here. Like double down.
- 1:19:13Speaker 3: Cause I promise you in a year you'll look back
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: and go, man, there are parts of college that I'm like,
- 1:19:17Speaker 3: I wish I could go experience, you know, that again.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: That'd be my advice. That's good advice.
- 1:19:23Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: Yeah. Make the most of it. Yeah. Go do everything.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: You won't, you're tired. It's so specific. Everything is worth it.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: It won't ever happen again. Like you're never going to
- 1:19:32Speaker 3: get that kind of experience again. So, like, just soak
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: it in. Because it really is, like, once it's gone,
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: it's gone.
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: And be the glue guy for that friend group. Yes. Like,
- 1:19:41Speaker 1: getting them out.
- 1:19:41Speaker 2: Like, hey, dude, we're not going to have these times
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: ever again. Be the glue guy. Be the glue guy.
- 1:19:48Speaker 2: I would say create opportunities, too, of, like, grill outside.
- 1:19:52Speaker 2: We didn't start doing that until my senior year. And
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: I was like, what the hell were we thinking? We
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: started grilling outside more and, like, cooking and at the house, like,
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: all together.
- 1:20:02Speaker 1: And it's just, like.
- 1:20:03Speaker 2: you bring all the boys together for like day stuff.
- 1:20:06Speaker 2: Cause we have the nightlife figured out, but like the
- 1:20:09Speaker 2: day stuff on Fridays where that feeling is in the
- 1:20:12Speaker 2: air and yeah, it's.
- 1:20:14Speaker 1: Fun, dude. I like that.
- 1:20:16Speaker 5: Big one to rip off what chef is saying is
- 1:20:18Speaker 5: my advice to Chris would be don't your free time
- 1:20:21Speaker 5: is not downtime because nowadays to your point, we'll like
- 1:20:24Speaker 5: you go to South on, you're like, all I want
- 1:20:25Speaker 5: to do for my birthday is be alone and sit
- 1:20:27Speaker 5: in this room. I would say for Chris, somebody with
- 1:20:29Speaker 5: his energy level, use your free time to do all
- 1:20:32Speaker 5: this stuff. Like, don't be like, oh, I'm just going
- 1:20:34Speaker 5: to take an easy day, like every inch of your college.
- 1:20:36Speaker 5: Because once you get out, your free time is hard
- 1:20:38Speaker 5: to fight for. You're going to have a lot of
- 1:20:40Speaker 5: free time now. Chris is a bundle of energy, an
- 1:20:42Speaker 5: lollipop at this point. Use your free time.
- 1:20:44Speaker 4: Start.
- 1:20:44Speaker 5: Chris needs to stream. Check out the buildings. Like, don't
- 1:20:47Speaker 5: have a downtime right now because there's a lot of
- 1:20:49Speaker 5: time that you'll have down later in life.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:20:53Speaker 1: Let's go. I like that. Chris, thank you for calling in.
- 1:20:57Speaker 1: And we love our intern, Chris. Oh, so much.
- 1:21:00Speaker 2: That is this week's Dad Call-Ins presented by Gravely. Click
- 1:21:04Speaker 2: the link in the description below of this episode to
- 1:21:08Speaker 2: find Gravely Miller.
- 1:21:11Speaker 4: Emails?
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: You hit yours. You hit yours and we'll hit lesson.
- 1:21:14Speaker 4: Oh, sorry.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: And then we'll hit lesson. Daniel Kolish wrote in an email.
- 1:21:19Speaker 2: Daniel said, my name is Daniel C.
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: Riding in from... Grants Pass, Oregon. Skoducks.
- 1:21:26Speaker 2: I just wanted to ride in and give my wife
- 1:21:28Speaker 2: a massive shout out for the absolute clinic that she
- 1:21:32Speaker 2: put in this week.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: Let me set the scene for you. Tuesday morning, 3 a.m.
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: Water breaks. Good. Wednesday rolls around. Still not a peep
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: from our boy downstairs.
- 1:21:44Speaker 4: Good.
- 1:21:45Speaker 2: Thursday morning, midnight. She's up feeling the contractions coming on.
- 1:21:49Speaker 2: I decide to stay up with her.
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Bad move.
- 1:21:53Speaker 2: We get a hold of the midwife. Yeah, this is
- 1:21:56Speaker 2: a home birth situation here. Midwife says, if you're not
- 1:22:00Speaker 2: in labor by 3 p.m., you can forget having a
- 1:22:03Speaker 2: home birth and go to the hospital. My wife is brokenhearted,
- 1:22:07Speaker 2: crying on the couch.
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Good.
- 1:22:09Speaker 2: Thursday flies by. We're timing contractions. We call the midwife.
- 1:22:14Speaker 2: This is really happening. By 3 p.m., she's giving it
- 1:22:17Speaker 2: all she got. Then 9 p.m.
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Rolls around.
- 1:22:19Speaker 4: Then 3 a.m.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: Then 9 a.m. Then noon.
- 1:22:23Speaker 2: She has been giving her best effort for damn near
- 1:22:25Speaker 2: a full day and we can finally see our boy's
- 1:22:27Speaker 2: head poking out. Three hours later and she is drenched
- 1:22:31Speaker 2: in sweat, pushing like it's fourth and goal in the
- 1:22:34Speaker 2: final minute of the natty and she's down three. Then
- 1:22:38Speaker 2: all of a sudden he's out. She's laying down, relaxed
- 1:22:40Speaker 2: for the first time in almost two days and the
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: kid she just pushed out is the biggest I've ever seen.
- 1:22:47Speaker 2: sorry Colter Anthony C weighing in at 10 pounds on
- 1:22:51Speaker 2: the dot 21 inches big boy big boy yeah that's
- 1:22:56Speaker 2: three days of pushing yeah this kid looks like he
- 1:23:00Speaker 2: was bred to fill a little something I like to
- 1:23:04Speaker 2: call the agap a place I would not want to
- 1:23:06Speaker 2: meet my wife or any laboring mother because my lord
- 1:23:10Speaker 2: my lord these women are dogs spelled D-A-W-G-S all caps
- 1:23:15Speaker 2: especially mine Everyone made it out unscathed. Wife didn't tear.
- 1:23:21Speaker 2: Baby latched like a champ. God is truly good. Absolutely
- 1:23:25Speaker 2: love the show. Keep up the great work. That comes
- 1:23:27Speaker 2: from Daniel. And there's he and his wife and son.
- 1:23:32Speaker 2: Shout out to fam, dude. That's crazy.
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: Good on ya. Beautiful baby, 10 pounds. That baby just
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: came out of the womb. Full head of hair. Baby's
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: a grown-ass man, dude. I was about to say.
- 1:23:48Speaker 2: It looks like some of the kids in Scarlett's daycare
- 1:23:51Speaker 2: class with one-year-olds. He looks like he's trying to give
- 1:23:54Speaker 2: mom an order right now. He's trying to get some
- 1:23:56Speaker 2: food after all that.
- 1:23:58Speaker 1: Probably do. They got nuggets, mac and cheese. Mac and cheese. Oh,
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: it's just milk? Okay, we'll do milk. I'll do milk. Uh,
- 1:24:07Speaker 1: I got a little lesson for us. I do as well.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: I have just a reminder here for, for the, uh,
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: for the girl dads, you know, uh, I came across
- 1:24:16Speaker 1: a little, little Instagram last night where it talks about
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: one day they're the, your little ones, their calendars are
- 1:24:21Speaker 1: going to be booked up. So get in their schedule
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: now because one day they're not going to need mom
- 1:24:26Speaker 1: and dad anymore. And it's just so true. It's just
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: such like little good reminders on the gram that I love.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: But here's one here for, um, How daughters see their
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: dads at every age. Ages zero to five, dad is
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: my safe place. You hold her close, you protect her
- 1:24:39Speaker 1: without making the world feel scary. Your voice, your arms,
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: your presence tell her everything she needs to know. When
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: dad is here, I'm safe. Ages six to 10, dad
- 1:24:48Speaker 1: sees me. You show up to the little things. You
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: listen to her stories. You cheer the loudest. She's quietly
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: asking one question. Do I matter? When dad celebrates her efforts,
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: not just achievements, she starts believing in her own worth.
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: Ages 11 to 14. Dad respects me, but I'm still watching.
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: She changes. She wants privacy, independence, and sometimes distance. You
- 1:25:11Speaker 1: give her space while still staying emotionally present. Even if
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: she rolls her eyes or seems embarrassed, inside she's wondering,
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: does dad still see me the same way? Ages 15
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: to 18, dad becomes my standard. How you treat her,
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: speak to her, and respect her begins shaping what she
- 1:25:26Speaker 1: believes love should look like. Your consistency teaches her what
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: respect feels like. and what she should never settle for.
- 1:25:33Speaker 1: 19 to 21, dad trusts me. You start taking a
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: step back. You offer guidance instead of control. When you
- 1:25:40Speaker 1: trust her decisions, she learns to trust her own judgment
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: as well. In 21 plus, dad becomes fully human. She
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: begins to see the man behind the role, your stress,
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: your sacrifices, your quiet ways of loving, and she realizes
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: he was figuring it out too. Dude, that was really
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: well said. Really well said. Just one I wanted to share.
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: Just a reminder. Could be the same for boys.
- 1:26:08Speaker 2: Yeah, that's a great reminder too of for myself as
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: a kid, now a dad and like seeing my mom
- 1:26:17Speaker 2: and dad as the people that they are.
- 1:26:20Speaker 1: And all the sacrifice. Man. Oh yeah. What a humbling
- 1:26:24Speaker 1: realization of.
- 1:26:26Speaker 2: Golly, I was not hard on my parents, but we're
- 1:26:30Speaker 2: all kids and we have that mindset of, man, are
- 1:26:35Speaker 2: they doing enough? Man, they should do a better job
- 1:26:37Speaker 2: at this.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: Stuff you kind of resent them for when you become
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: a parent and you, I don't know, you think of
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: things and then you also have that completely fully flipped
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: empathy card of, you understand that they were in different
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: times still figuring out just as much all the stress
- 1:26:51Speaker 1: that they carried outside of the household and everything else
- 1:26:54Speaker 1: that kind of operated there to where you kind of
- 1:26:55Speaker 1: released that resentment a little bit.
- 1:26:57Speaker 4: Dude.
- 1:26:58Speaker 2: And just the, my looking at myself in the mirror. Oh, Sherman, you're,
- 1:27:02Speaker 2: you're bad at communicating, uh, emotions that you're having. You're
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: bad at communicating when you have stress, you're bad at
- 1:27:09Speaker 2: delegating stress, blah, blah, blah.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Oh, who's that remind me of?
- 1:27:13Speaker 4: Yep.
- 1:27:14Speaker 2: That was going through that same thing and was doing
- 1:27:16Speaker 2: it with two kiddos for all those years. And it
- 1:27:19Speaker 2: just makes you appreciate your mom and dad that much
- 1:27:21Speaker 2: more of like, damn.
- 1:27:25Speaker 1: I'll save my.
- 1:27:26Speaker 2: Quote because I think that was a great one to
- 1:27:29Speaker 2: end on.
- 1:27:30Speaker 1: I can save this one. This one's pretty evergreen. Okay.
- 1:27:34Speaker 1: And the people in the comments, they'll be like, oh, Sherman, Sherman,
- 1:27:37Speaker 1: we got to hear it. It's that good. I promise.
- 1:27:41Speaker 3: I did.
- 1:27:41Speaker 2: I want to shout out. I believe his name was Nick.
- 1:27:46Speaker 2: We went to the Ruby Slipper in Franklin, Tennessee. And
- 1:27:52Speaker 2: he shared some extremely kind words to me when I
- 1:27:56Speaker 2: was a little bit frustrated with young Scar Scar. She
- 1:27:59Speaker 2: was throwing a fuss at the table. And I said, honey,
- 1:28:04Speaker 2: let me take her outside and have her cool down.
- 1:28:06Speaker 2: And I wanted to be eating my breakfast and was
- 1:28:09Speaker 2: a little bit frustrated dad, but wasn't showing it. And
- 1:28:13Speaker 2: he came up and shared some really kind words and
- 1:28:15Speaker 2: said he was a huge fan of yours and loved
- 1:28:17Speaker 2: the For the Dad show. And it was just a
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: A really good reminder of staying level-headed, staying in it,
- 1:28:26Speaker 2: and appreciating those moments.
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: Yeah, keep going. Dude, you just sparked a reminder, and
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I would have felt so shitty for forgetting this. When
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: we were at Bussin' and Pate on campus. This weekend,
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: this weekend, we're going to be busing paid on campus
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: Friday afternoon. We're going to be in Knoxville, Tennessee.
- 1:28:39Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: So chef, you got to hit all the group chats.
- 1:28:42Speaker 1: You got to get all the boys ready to rock.
- 1:28:44Speaker 1: I just texted my little brother. Let's go. We need everybody.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: We need everybody. But last week, the, uh, Auburn campus
- 1:28:52Speaker 1: was rocking our best crowd yet. Some PT sickos in
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: the crowd, bro. Sickos in the crowd. And there was
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: one that came up to me, his name, shout out
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: Ken Nielsen. Shout out Ken Nielsen. And he was bringing
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: up the, I forget what part of the episode we're on,
- 1:29:07Speaker 1: but we were talking about getting pulled over. And if
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: the cop says like, hey, if you listen to For
- 1:29:12Speaker 1: the Dads, he might give you a little freebie. Is
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: he a cop? He's not, but his boy is who's
- 1:29:16Speaker 1: also a sicko. The cop, his name is Evan.
- 1:29:20Speaker 4: Okay.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Won't say last name, won't put all that out there.
- 1:29:22Speaker 1: But shout out Evan.
- 1:29:23Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:29:23Speaker 2: Because Evan reached out to Ken and was like, if
- 1:29:26Speaker 2: I get a moment, I'm going to be, if I
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: spot a PT sicko in the wild that I just.
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: Pulled over, might give him a pass.
- 1:29:33Speaker 3: Oh!
- 1:29:34Speaker 1: And I said, man, if that happens, you got to
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: call in and let us know. Oh, my God. That
- 1:29:39Speaker 1: would be so electric. All anonymously, of course. All anonymous.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: All anonymous. But if there's some cops out there that
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: are PT sickos, you find another PT sicko in the wild.
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: As long as there's a little, you know, I'm not
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: going to tell you how to do your job. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:29:52Speaker 1: You just give them a little. Oh, that's what it is?
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: I see it, buddy. I see it. You're just going
- 1:29:58Speaker 1: to see people who listen to the show. They get
- 1:30:00Speaker 1: pulled over. They hurry up and throw on just our episode.
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: Just as the cop comes up. Oh, excuse me. Let
- 1:30:06Speaker 1: me turn this down. We're in the background. Oh, let
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: me turn this down for you. Was I speeding?
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: That wouldn't happen to be one shelf in old Fat Stafford,
- 1:30:22Speaker 2: was it? It was actually Chef. He was telling us
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: about how he is a Disney exec and he'll be
- 1:30:27Speaker 2: calling Scarlett.
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: I'm a big fan. You're good.
- 1:30:33Speaker 2: It also reminds me, too, final little housekeeping. If you
- 1:30:37Speaker 2: are a dad in the Knoxville area, you will be
- 1:30:40Speaker 2: at that game. I know Chef will be there. Willie
- 1:30:43Speaker 2: C will be there. Jilly Bean and I will be there.
- 1:30:46Speaker 2: And come say what up at the bus and tailgate.
- 1:30:49Speaker 1: Come say what up, man. Yeah. Come say what up.
- 1:30:51Speaker 1: At Kern's Bakery, for anyone. It's that way everyone knows.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 1:30:54Speaker 3: At Kern's Bakery. Also, Friday's show, Ayers Hall. 2 p.m.
- 1:30:59Speaker 3: on the back lawn. Anyone from Knoxville, you know it.
- 1:31:01Speaker 3: It's where they put game day. That's where we'll be at.
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: Show out. There's any ST sickos out there that go
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: to Tennessee. Show up. I know you're not going to
- 1:31:11Speaker 1: do shit on Friday. Let's be honest with ourselves. Go
- 1:31:14Speaker 1: walk over there. It's a five minute walk. Come on.
- 1:31:16Speaker 1: Take out the trash. We'll see you next week.
