- 0:05[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, we are talking.
- 0:08[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguars and my two relative concerns about this team right now.
- 0:16[SPEAKER_00]: I say relative because I think I feel pretty good about both of these situations, both of these questions, concerns, et cetera, but
- 0:27[SPEAKER_00]: I think if you're a more pessimistic person, a more pessimistic fan, somebody who just kind of is worrisome by nature.
- 0:37[SPEAKER_00]: or worry to buy nature.
- 0:39[SPEAKER_00]: These are two things that can be keeping you up and not a little bit, I think.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: So we're gonna dive into it.

- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: Now, two things.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: can the Jaguar's handle wide receiver ones?
- 1:10[SPEAKER_00]: This was a major issue for the Jaguar's last year.
- 1:14[SPEAKER_00]: Teams that had legitimate wide receiver ones, a lot of them popped off against the Jaguars, they didn't have a good answer for that.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_00]: It, uh, I wouldn't say it cost them a ton of games, but there were some games that not being able to slow down the opposing wide receiver one, it either directly led to them losing or it made it more difficult for them to win.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: For sure.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: I think there's no question about that.
- 1:44[SPEAKER_00]: So what have they done to improve in that area?
- 1:48[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Travis Hunter for one.
- 1:51[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, down the stretch last year, they didn't have Travis Hunter.
- 1:55[SPEAKER_00]: and even when they did have Travis Hunter, he was playing way more offense than defense.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: I think he'll still play a lot of offense.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think people are underrated, how much offense he'll play, but I think he's gonna play a ton of defense.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the guy does not want to be on the sideline.
- 2:12[SPEAKER_00]: Obviously the Jaguars have to manage how much they have him out there, but
- 2:17[SPEAKER_00]: You don't trade up to number two overall, give up your fifth pick, basically, you say five and two, that's a direct swap.
- 2:26[SPEAKER_00]: But then you give up a first round, the next year, a second round, that same year, and some other late round stuff moving around.
- 2:35[SPEAKER_00]: But basically, you did give up an extra first round pick and second round pick to go get Travis Hunter.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't think you do that.
- 2:46[SPEAKER_00]: for anybody that does not play the quarterback position if they're not gonna be doing something pretty revolutionary for you.
- 2:53[SPEAKER_00]: And I think Travis Hunter's gonna be doing a lot of that.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: Now, can you handle opposing Y to C for once?
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I believe Travis Hunter is going to help them be able to do that.
- 3:03[SPEAKER_00]: I think I also believe in Anthony Campanyley's defense with Matthew Arujo coming in.
- 3:10[SPEAKER_00]: being more focused, attention to detail, the Jaguar's field that they upgraded in a big way, just by having Travis Hunter at corner and by having Matthew Erujo coaching up that group instead of Ron Milis.
- 3:24[SPEAKER_00]: Will that be enough at corner, in the secondary to really slow down opposing wide receiver ones?
- 3:33[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna find out, we are gonna find out.
- 3:37[SPEAKER_00]: This isn't an issue where I feel like it's going to potentially cause the jaguars to not be able to be a playoff team.
- 3:43[SPEAKER_00]: And neither is the second one, honestly, that we're going to talk about.
- 3:46[SPEAKER_00]: I do think the jaguars are a playoff team.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: I look at this team and I think they're one of the best teams in the AFC.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: I think they're in tier one of AFC contenders.
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think the wide receiver one situation being able to handle wide receiver ones.
- 4:06[SPEAKER_00]: is a question where does it cause them to not win a playoff game?
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: Does it impact their ability to string together consecutive wins in the playoffs against really good teams?
- 4:18[SPEAKER_00]: Because you look around the AFC playoff landscape now, teams that did not have true wide receiver ones last year, now do.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: And it's three teams at the top of the AFC last year,
- 4:32[SPEAKER_00]: The buffalo bills beat you in the playoffs without a true wide receiver one.
- 4:36[SPEAKER_00]: They got DJ Moore.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: That's a damn good football player.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_00]: The Denver Broncos did not have jail and water last year.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: The New England Patriots did not have AJ Brown last year.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_00]: So you're gonna face wide receiver ones in the playoffs.
- 4:57[SPEAKER_00]: You're gonna face them in the regular season.
- 4:59[SPEAKER_00]: Can you handle it?
- 5:01[SPEAKER_00]: And why this is kind of creeped back into my mind, I think somebody brought it up yesterday on our club Jaguar in the comment section or something.
- 5:11[SPEAKER_00]: But Parker Washington has been absolutely cooking the Jaguar's defense.
- 5:18[SPEAKER_00]: And Chris O'Lave cooked the Jaguar's defense yesterday.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_00]: So, is it in a place that this is no longer an issue?
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Cause it was absolutely an issue last year.
- 5:28[SPEAKER_00]: I hadn't thought about it that much this off season cause I'm like, okay, Travis Hunter, let's go.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Travis Hunter, Matthew, Rujo, you're good to go.
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: But, is that really the case?
- 5:41[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know yet.
- 5:44[SPEAKER_00]: Offensive line.
- 5:47[SPEAKER_00]: Is it good enough?
- 5:49[SPEAKER_00]: is it healthy enough?
- 5:50[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for the second question.
- 5:52[SPEAKER_00]: Right now, it is definitely not healthy enough.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: You're currently missing three of your top six, right?
- 6:01[SPEAKER_00]: You have your left side to center, Anton Harris and starting left tackle now.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: You have Ezra Cleveland, left guard, good football player, underrated football player.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: Robert Hainesy, center, who a leader, great communicator, up and down as a starter in my opinion, and basically, I think a replacement level starter, but somebody who does bring some intangibles to the field.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_00]: and then on the right side it's like who knows right now right now it's like they've been rolling out monheim and my loom at guard and tackle respectively that hasn't been going very well in my opinion but you know monheim is more of a center I think my loom is more of a guard so uh
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't been seeing much tumour lately.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: You haven't seen Patrick McCarray pretty much out all during teamwork.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: Is he really injured or are they just managing him?
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: Walker Little got injured last week.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: And Colvin Lannon is still not back from PUP.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_00]: So there's the question of health.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: As of right now, they are not healthy enough.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: And that is problematic.
- 7:11[SPEAKER_00]: Again, I don't think it's problematic to the point where they can't go win some games.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: But I do think at the highest level against some of the best teams that is gonna be a big issue.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: If they don't get healthy.
- 7:23[SPEAKER_00]: Now, it's August 14th.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: You have a month until that first game.
- 7:30[SPEAKER_00]: Now, technically, a day less than a month.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: The game is September 13th, right?
- 7:34[SPEAKER_00]: But you've got about a month and tell that game.
- 7:38[SPEAKER_00]: Is the offensive line, if they get healthy in the next month, if COVID-19 starts practicing and is ready for week one, if Walker Little gets back out there, if Patrick McCary starts practicing in team, you know, if Tuma Doge is healthy, is this a group that is good enough just when they're fully healthy?
- 8:01[SPEAKER_00]: To, you know, help the Jaguar
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: win playoff games.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: I believe so.
- 8:10[SPEAKER_00]: I really do.
- 8:11[SPEAKER_00]: I think Cole Vainland and I right tackle changes the complexion of everything.
- 8:16[SPEAKER_00]: And then whoever earns the job at right guard between McCary, Little, Milum, I think whichever one of those guys kind of rises to the top of that list is going to be fun.
- 8:30[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm at a place where if they get healthy for the start of the regular season, and they maintain relative health throughout the season, I'm at a place where I feel confident in that group.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_00]: Do I think it could get better?
- 8:45[SPEAKER_00]: Like, yeah, I think there's a couple of spots you could upgrade.
- 8:49[SPEAKER_00]: I really like the tackle duo when healthy of Anton Harrison and Colve and Lannon.
- 8:53[SPEAKER_00]: I really like Ezra Cleveland.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: That's what I'll say.
- 8:59[SPEAKER_00]: And I think that the coaching from the top down on the offensive side of the ball is enough to make that group very good.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Could you upgrade it?
- 9:11[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, but we're going to find out if it's good enough and if they're healthy enough and the next month they're so.
- 9:19[SPEAKER_00]: So really appreciate y'all tuning in.
