- 0:06Speaker 2: BE anymore.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Well, yes I can, but you can always hate on TB.

- 0:35Speaker 3: Daylight Troll here in the spaceship.
- 0:38Speaker 2: Tonight midday Walker.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Okay, I read like that. I came up with that one.
- 0:44Speaker 3: The real life bars you gotta deal with. When I
- 0:46Speaker 3: was on one of my morning walks the other day, I.
- 0:48Speaker 2: Was like, come on, man, mid day Walker, Like, nah,
- 0:52Speaker 2: I like it. It's right there. Yes, and as always,
- 0:55Speaker 2: I'm joined by King D Grant.
- 0:57Speaker 1: That's just a tech also known as Gucci Man, Lauri
- 1:00Speaker 1: and Flex Luthor. Glorilla Rod facts the Destroyer DA Hockey
- 1:05Speaker 1: Chestarek Thompson and Tatiana Kan The Conqueror.
- 1:10Speaker 3: GLORIALA Rod would be a great T shirt if not
- 1:13Speaker 3: for racism.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, we can't. We won't be able to. I don't
- 1:18Speaker 1: think that one's gonna fly just.
- 1:20Speaker 3: Because of racism. Like, if we didn't live in a
- 1:22Speaker 3: racist world, we could do that, no problem. But because
- 1:25Speaker 3: we live in a racist world.
- 1:26Speaker 1: That we live in a Fantastic four universe, whatever earth
- 1:32Speaker 1: they're on, where there's no thing as racism or whatsoever, you.
- 1:36Speaker 2: Can just call a black person an ape and nobody
- 1:38Speaker 2: thinks twice about it. You know, it's just like are
- 1:40Speaker 2: you know, like that's just the animal you know, like yeah,
- 1:43Speaker 2: you know their animal form could be an ape?
- 1:45Speaker 3: Yeah, because I don't know, is there any cartoons where
- 1:48Speaker 3: it's like a black you know, like an ape talking
- 1:51Speaker 3: with a black voice, like Gloriala, I mean, Grila Grod.
- 1:57Speaker 3: He only talks pretty blackish. Let's be for real.
- 2:01Speaker 2: Look, you watch Jailer, watch j LU.
- 2:04Speaker 1: You're not going down this rabbit hole.
- 2:06Speaker 3: You made that whole video about Les Luthor being black
- 2:08Speaker 3: and the real truth is that Grod.
- 2:13Speaker 1: No, no, we're not doing this.
- 2:16Speaker 2: The real truth is a Grod is a black man.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Oh my god, expect them.
- 2:22Speaker 3: You know, it's just because of racism that we can't
- 2:24Speaker 3: admit this again, you know, there it is. If it
- 2:27Speaker 3: wasn't a racism, we could admit that. Go Wriller grod
- 2:30Speaker 3: Is Goriller. Yeah, it's so hard to say because I
- 2:34Speaker 3: want to say moving on. But speaking of DC, you
- 2:38Speaker 3: know this is for all nerd you know what it is.
- 2:40Speaker 3: You know, it's like it's we gotta talk about one thing.
- 2:42Speaker 3: It's the end the summer, you know what I mean.
- 2:44Speaker 3: Thank you to everybody. Hope everybody's having a good summer
- 2:47Speaker 3: in the summer, all that coming into the fall.
- 2:51Speaker 2: I'm not really feeling that. You know, it is what
- 2:53Speaker 2: it is, though, I guess.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Use pumpkin spicette. Niggas need to calm down. Okay, basically
- 2:59Speaker 1: lat the summer officially and the summer is not officially
- 3:01Speaker 1: over till September. What twenty first, twenty second, something like that.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Let it just let it rot, let it ride. Yes, please,
- 3:09Speaker 1: because y'all get to my nerves, the people who are
- 3:12Speaker 1: all I want to where you winter, your layers and
- 3:15Speaker 1: Halloween please go away.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Not yet.
- 3:18Speaker 1: Your time is coming, but not yet.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Yeah, And I love me some Halloween. I love all that.
- 3:22Speaker 3: I love the layers, you know, I love getting fly,
- 3:24Speaker 3: but you know I do want a little bit of summer.
- 3:27Speaker 3: It has been a beautiful summer and real quick again,
- 3:30Speaker 3: shout out to the Dallas Pen Foundation and everyone who
- 3:34Speaker 3: came through for the dallas Pin Family Day this weekend.
- 3:37Speaker 3: It was an amazing event. Shout out to dallas Pin Forever.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Make sure you follow that account on Instagram for more information.
- 3:45Speaker 3: And yeah, just man, it was really beautiful. It was
- 3:47Speaker 3: always beautiful and sad, you know, yeah, yeah it's Kelly.
- 3:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 3:54Speaker 3: Melancholy, I guess is the word, but it was. It
- 3:56Speaker 3: didn't feel melancholy that day. You know, there are moments
- 3:59Speaker 3: of melon holly, but overall felt very joyous that day.
- 4:03Speaker 3: Definitely celebration of life. Yeah, definitely a celebration of life.
- 4:07Speaker 3: But it just always reminds you that, you know, these
- 4:09Speaker 3: people are not with us in the physical, but we
- 4:11Speaker 3: keep their memory and their energy alive, and in different
- 4:14Speaker 3: ways they still are with us. So it was definitely
- 4:17Speaker 3: a very beautiful day. I actually got to DJ for
- 4:19Speaker 3: Smith and Wesson, and that was a moment for me,
- 4:23Speaker 3: as someone who pretty much grew up on their music.
- 4:27Speaker 3: It was really like, wow, look at me, you know,
- 4:29Speaker 3: look at it. I mean, over here, Smith and Wesson, your.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Your your younger self would be proud.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Of you, super proud, super blown away. They were actually
- 4:37Speaker 3: the first people I ever interviewed back when I was
- 4:40Speaker 3: in high school too.
- 4:41Speaker 1: Look at that full circle moment.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Full circle. I told him about it. He did not remember.
- 4:47Speaker 3: But like my sister and one of my good friends,
- 4:50Speaker 3: Javetta Is, they're still cool with Evil d the producer
- 4:54Speaker 3: of the Beat Miners and Black Moon and Smith and
- 4:57Speaker 3: West and everybody else, so you know, still goes on.
- 5:00Speaker 1: Well, rest in power to Dallas Pennell.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Always yes, yep, yeah, man, it's been it's been a
- 5:06Speaker 3: really good summer. I've been doing all kinds of stuff.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Shout out to Jim Shirts, Jim's Search. I went out
- 5:11Speaker 3: to his hip trivia hip hop trivia event this week.
- 5:15Speaker 3: I went out to the New Yorkers that she was
- 5:18Speaker 3: so rich to you.
- 5:22Speaker 2: What it was. It was the you know, the New
- 5:26Speaker 2: Yorker magazine.
- 5:26Speaker 3: They put on an event last night at Joe's Pub
- 5:30Speaker 3: in Manhattan, and it was basically four writers from The
- 5:34Speaker 3: New Yorker came up and told the story each of them.
- 5:38Speaker 3: And I went because friend of the show and friend
- 5:40Speaker 3: of ours, Juno Diaz, was there and doing a speech
- 5:44Speaker 3: and doing one of the stories, and so I went
- 5:46Speaker 3: to see him and you know, hung out with him.
- 5:48Speaker 3: But oh my god man, I'm not should have expected it.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Like I grew up reading the New Yorker magazine. It's
- 5:53Speaker 3: something one of my favorite magazine.
- 5:54Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you already know. Yeah, Upper West, Upper east Side.
- 6:00Speaker 1: Upper west Side. Kind of like that crowd when we
- 6:04Speaker 1: went to see.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Yes, Yeah your Boy, Yes, definitely gr Boy, see your
- 6:12Speaker 3: Boy for and or the exact same type of crowd. Yes,
- 6:16Speaker 3: a lot of money in that place last night, Yes,
- 6:20Speaker 3: Tony Gilroy, a lot of money in that.
- 6:22Speaker 2: Place last night. It was very good to see mister Diaz.
- 6:25Speaker 3: But beyond that, yeah, No, the rest of the writers
- 6:29Speaker 3: were really dope though too.
- 6:30Speaker 2: It was a really dope event.
- 6:31Speaker 1: But just the crowd, Yeah, well there's a better event.
- 6:35Speaker 1: I think it's going to be attended by not so
- 6:38Speaker 1: ritchy people. That's coming up. What the Film Live Show.
- 6:42Speaker 3: I keep wanting to say, what the Yeah, I would
- 6:44Speaker 3: keep wanting that, you know. Yeah, it's not like what
- 6:48Speaker 3: the It's not w t f.
- 6:49Speaker 1: F, it's w TF. It stands for what the film?
- 6:52Speaker 2: What the film? Yes.
- 6:54Speaker 1: For those who have been listening to our most recent shows,
- 6:56Speaker 1: or even if you haven't, Front of the Show, Brandon
- 6:59Speaker 1: Collins has he always comes on the show on a
- 7:01Speaker 1: regular basis, but he has a new show that he announced.
- 7:04Speaker 1: He does the drunk Black History shows. We've been on
- 7:06Speaker 1: those shows a few times as well. But his new
- 7:08Speaker 1: live show, What the Film is basically him and friends
- 7:12Speaker 1: just talking about like the beautiful disasters in cinema. I
- 7:16Speaker 1: know that this show is going to be about nineties
- 7:18Speaker 1: movies and your favorite two favorite hosts, Tatiana Ben I mean,
- 7:23Speaker 1: will be there this Thursday, September fourth, at seven point
- 7:27Speaker 1: thirty pm at Littlefield in Brooklyn. And we can't tell
- 7:32Speaker 1: you what we're gonna what we're gonna I should say
- 7:36Speaker 1: it should be a surprise, but we have a good
- 7:39Speaker 1: movie to review and talk about.
- 7:41Speaker 2: So you guys the movie.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah, you guys will be in on the fund. So
- 7:45Speaker 1: if you can make it, please do. I know the
- 7:46Speaker 1: tickets are still on sale. They're not that expensive. I
- 7:49Speaker 1: think it's like fifteen bucks if that so, yeah, so
- 7:53Speaker 1: or twenty sorry I'm gonna oops, sorry guys, it's twenty now.
- 7:56Speaker 1: She missed out on the early birth, but I know
- 8:00Speaker 1: it goes up to like twenty five the day of
- 8:02Speaker 1: the show. So anyway, make sure that you are if
- 8:05Speaker 1: you are in town, please come see us. And if
- 8:07Speaker 1: you miss it, that's okay. I know you probably see
- 8:09Speaker 1: some videos or pictures from there, but it's better to
- 8:11Speaker 1: be their lives. So again, what the film show starring
- 8:14Speaker 1: Brandon Collins, featuring amazing guests including ourselves, Tatiana King and
- 8:19Speaker 1: DJ Beja mean of four honors.
- 8:21Speaker 2: We will be there, Yes.
- 8:22Speaker 3: We will be and I'm really excited for that. Actually,
- 8:27Speaker 3: I really wish we could let people know what movie
- 8:29Speaker 3: we're gonna talk about. I'm about to rewatch it again.
- 8:32Speaker 3: It's definitely one of my favorites and a classic. And
- 8:36Speaker 3: I'll just just one hit, right, it's a sci fi classic.
- 8:39Speaker 2: I'll say that.
- 8:40Speaker 1: They're gonna know immediately it's nineties.
- 8:43Speaker 2: There's so many there's so many great ones, so many
- 8:47Speaker 2: great ones. It could be Galaxy Quests, right, that's nineties,
- 8:49Speaker 2: wasn't it.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I don't remember, But anyway, you've seen Galaxy Quests, right, Yeah,
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't know if that was. Anyway, it's gonna be
- 8:58Speaker 1: a great if not, I mean it's close.
- 9:01Speaker 2: It's pretty close. Some people would consider one. I wouldn't.
- 9:04Speaker 3: Some people would. You know, it had a lot of
- 9:08Speaker 3: greatness in it, you know what I mean. Rest in
- 9:11Speaker 3: peace to my Man's from Harry Potter. Uh and also
- 9:15Speaker 3: from Diehard.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Of course, yes, oh who plays Snap Yep.
- 9:19Speaker 3: He was also in Galaxy Question amazing snape. I was,
- 9:23Speaker 3: that was right on tip of my tongue. But yeah,
- 9:25Speaker 3: rest in peace, Alan Rickmond fucking God. Yeah, so you know, okay,
- 9:29Speaker 3: it's not Galaxy Quest.
- 9:34Speaker 2: Four. Yeah.
- 9:35Speaker 3: See there, And you know this was really surprising this news.
- 9:40Speaker 3: I really was surprised by this.
- 9:42Speaker 2: Today.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Uh, James Gunn announced that Superman Too, which isn't titled
- 9:48Speaker 3: Superman two, is just titled Man of Tomorrow, which is
- 9:51Speaker 3: one of Superman's many a ka's. He's known as the
- 9:55Speaker 3: Man of Tomorrow, the last Son of Krypton. It's the
- 9:59Speaker 3: Dark Night and uh, what's Superman's one like that, because
- 10:03Speaker 3: it's like Dark Knight and something sun I can't remember.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Right they I don't know, it's something like that.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's not a few other ones, but Man
- 10:10Speaker 3: of Tomorrow has always been one of my favorite ones
- 10:12Speaker 3: for Superman. And so that's the title of Superman two.
- 10:15Speaker 3: And even more surprising part about it, it's just coming seven.
- 10:21Speaker 1: I mean they're filming that shit right now.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Like I mean not yeah, but they need to they
- 10:26Speaker 3: need to get on their job, and they haven't, so
- 10:28Speaker 3: we'll see. But yeah, coming, I know the strip's already
- 10:31Speaker 3: written because he was already working on that and so coming.
- 10:35Speaker 3: Gunn did not announce that he's directing it, but I
- 10:38Speaker 3: would assume he is, but I don't know. He also
- 10:41Speaker 3: said that Superman is not his, like really his bag,
- 10:45Speaker 3: and he would like somebody else to take over.
- 10:47Speaker 1: So good, I mean, just a little less Guardians of
- 10:50Speaker 1: the Galaxy. No, yeah, nose but all truth, just take
- 10:54Speaker 1: a little bit of the Guardians out of it, So
- 10:57Speaker 1: I would. I wouldn't mind seeing someone else. He still
- 10:59Speaker 1: did a great job. Yes again, since enough time has
- 11:03Speaker 1: passed for me to sit there, because before the last
- 11:05Speaker 1: time you spoke about it, I was on. Since I
- 11:09Speaker 1: like Superman twenty twenty five, right, I love it. I
- 11:13Speaker 1: liked it. I still think it was too much Guardians.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It was too much wackedness, a little bit old on
- 11:18Speaker 1: a wackedness for me, but I understood. So at the
- 11:21Speaker 1: end of the day, he's an amazing director of James
- 11:24Speaker 1: gun And if he does end up doing again, I'm
- 11:26Speaker 1: sure he'll he'll temperate. My hope is he does. If
- 11:29Speaker 1: he doesn't, if it's not him and somebody else. I'm open,
- 11:32Speaker 1: like I just want to I'm okay, because there is
- 11:35Speaker 1: a plan now DC the dc universe, the DCU has
- 11:39Speaker 1: a plan. Now it has a captain. James Gunn is
- 11:42Speaker 1: the captain now, and now that they have direction and instruction,
- 11:49Speaker 1: I expect much better results than what we've been seeing.
- 11:52Speaker 1: And we've already seen really good results.
- 11:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 11:54Speaker 3: I actually dropped a video today on Instagram TikTok all
- 11:58Speaker 3: the rest of foreign nerds social media talking about that
- 12:02Speaker 3: because actually one of our rock questions from a few
- 12:06Speaker 3: months back when it dropped asked us what we thought
- 12:08Speaker 3: of Creature Commandos and I had not had a second
- 12:10Speaker 3: to watch it yet, And this weekend I was like,
- 12:13Speaker 3: let me finally catch the show. I've really been feeling
- 12:15Speaker 3: the you know, the new DCU, and I'm like, this
- 12:18Speaker 3: is a part of it, so let me at least
- 12:19Speaker 3: give it a watch. And I'm like, yo, I mean,
- 12:22Speaker 3: James Joon, we know he knows how to tell a story,
- 12:25Speaker 3: he knows how to pull on emotional heart streams when
- 12:27Speaker 3: he wants to. But I will really commend him for
- 12:31Speaker 3: the format of these twenty two minute stories and how
- 12:35Speaker 3: each one focuses on a different member of the Creature Commandos.
- 12:39Speaker 3: And again when I something I talked about in the video,
- 12:43Speaker 3: the tonal differences in the projects that DCU has presented
- 12:47Speaker 3: so far and what they're talking about coming down the pike,
- 12:50Speaker 3: Because so far we've had Superman, which is a straight
- 12:53Speaker 3: up pretty much family friendly, you know, adventure other than
- 12:56Speaker 3: you know, like harem and occasional murder, but beyond that,
- 13:01Speaker 3: you know, it's very family friendly, very kid not kid,
- 13:03Speaker 3: but you know, just family oriented.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 13:07Speaker 2: Then you have Creature Commandos, which is an animated series
- 13:10Speaker 2: which you would think, you know, okay, animated, and no,
- 13:13Speaker 2: it is full on. There's a lot of sex. There
- 13:17Speaker 2: is Hella violence, it's hella emotional, and it's also about
- 13:23Speaker 2: a group of monsters, and it never shies away from
- 13:27Speaker 2: the fact that these are all monsters.
- 13:29Speaker 3: And it's not even that Guardians of the Galaxy monsters
- 13:32Speaker 3: where they'll be redeemed in the heroes. They might be
- 13:35Speaker 3: redeemed in the heroes, but there'll still be monsters at
- 13:38Speaker 3: the end of this as far as I can tell,
- 13:40Speaker 3: because they're pretty monstrous. And now I've only got two
- 13:42Speaker 3: episodes left, and then we have Peacemaker, which is, you know,
- 13:46Speaker 3: just all over the place.
- 13:47Speaker 2: I'm loving season two.
- 13:49Speaker 3: But Orgies straight up and down Orgies like that, you know,
- 13:54Speaker 3: like I said, from Golly to Orgies, it is a
- 13:56Speaker 3: wide difference in Superman and Peacemaker, and I just feel
- 14:00Speaker 3: like we still have not seen that difference from Marvel.
- 14:03Speaker 2: They'll attempt to.
- 14:04Speaker 3: Like do little jumps at it, like wear Wolf by
- 14:06Speaker 3: Night or the upcoming Marvel Zombies, which has a lot
- 14:10Speaker 3: of violence and a lot of cursing, But I don't
- 14:12Speaker 3: feel like they're going to get near as far as
- 14:15Speaker 3: like something like Creature Commandos does, where it's the violence
- 14:17Speaker 3: of sex. It's it is not done in a way where,
- 14:21Speaker 3: you know, it's just like where Marvel Zombies so far
- 14:24Speaker 3: as just the gore fit, you know, it's just like, oh,
- 14:26Speaker 3: let's see what these heroes look like when they kill
- 14:28Speaker 3: each other.
- 14:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's not Creature Commandos.
- 14:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:31Speaker 1: I thought about that just to jump on, like, I
- 14:34Speaker 1: don't know if mc you can do that. At the
- 14:37Speaker 1: end of the day, the MCU is Disney. Now, well, okay,
- 14:42Speaker 1: Marvel is under Disney's wing. It's under Disney's direction at
- 14:47Speaker 1: the end of the day, and it's very much focused
- 14:51Speaker 1: to gathering as the middle of the road as many
- 14:53Speaker 1: people as possible, not to say that there cannot be
- 14:55Speaker 1: edgy things like as we have seen in things like
- 14:59Speaker 1: The Watcher, you know, the Watch excuse me, the animated
- 15:02Speaker 1: series on Disney Plus featuring like The Watcher, Like we've
- 15:05Speaker 1: seen some of the edgy things you mentioned the zombies,
- 15:07Speaker 1: but like tonally, to your point, is kind of all
- 15:10Speaker 1: the same, Like there isn't anything that's except for maybe
- 15:14Speaker 1: animation right where it's kind of outside the overall bubble
- 15:18Speaker 1: of the MCU of the films. But other than that,
- 15:21Speaker 1: like I don't at least as things as currently blueprinted,
- 15:25Speaker 1: I don't see them going completely let feel like they
- 15:28Speaker 1: can do with DC. Like one of the benefits of
- 15:31Speaker 1: DC just just being I didn't want to say having
- 15:36Speaker 1: you know, just just just being a dumpster fire. But
- 15:38Speaker 1: if DC being a dumpster fire is they kind of
- 15:41Speaker 1: come out of the fire like a phoenix and get
- 15:43Speaker 1: to be a new right. And Also the thing about DC,
- 15:45Speaker 1: at least for me, I've always seen DC is more dark,
- 15:48Speaker 1: Like even from the comics perspective, I always just saw
- 15:51Speaker 1: it as well. First one, a lot of the characters
- 15:54Speaker 1: they of many of them godlike they're not necessarily humans,
- 15:59Speaker 1: but also God's are fallible, right, so you got to
- 16:02Speaker 1: see a lot of that weird as you mentioned the
- 16:05Speaker 1: orgies or or or you know, people cussing it and
- 16:07Speaker 1: going and carrying on and violence. Right, not to say
- 16:10Speaker 1: that it didn't happen and for the MCU, but it's
- 16:13Speaker 1: it's just much more sanitized. Like again, I just feel
- 16:17Speaker 1: like it's only been the animation. Like back in the day,
- 16:19Speaker 1: the Iron Man animation, the man was a drunk and
- 16:23Speaker 1: they didn't shy away from that, right, and he was
- 16:25Speaker 1: he was a you know, he was a terrible person,
- 16:28Speaker 1: and like they really like even as a child, like,
- 16:31Speaker 1: they didn't shy away from that. Whereas that's completely kind
- 16:34Speaker 1: of that's kind of glossed over when they kind of
- 16:36Speaker 1: translate it to live action. So as far as can
- 16:40Speaker 1: they make tone ships, I don't know they're even allowed
- 16:43Speaker 1: to at this point, just because of they may be
- 16:45Speaker 1: in a box now and and DC doesn't have that box,
- 16:48Speaker 1: like DC could run wild as it's happening now. And
- 16:52Speaker 1: just to go back again to how good Gun is
- 16:54Speaker 1: in this short period of time, he completely reccon everything
- 16:58Speaker 1: that was in the DCEU with one scene m the
- 17:02Speaker 1: end of the Peacemaker when the return scene where at
- 17:04Speaker 1: the end when he's coming and you see the silhouettes
- 17:06Speaker 1: of what was the Justice League that's been completely changed
- 17:10Speaker 1: to the niggas. You know, the I forgot what they
- 17:13Speaker 1: call themselves, the Justice Gang complete and now I was
- 17:17Speaker 1: like and with that, like literally with the snap, it's like, Okay,
- 17:21Speaker 1: this is new. This is how the direction we're going to.
- 17:23Speaker 1: And to your point, there's no questions and there's no
- 17:27Speaker 1: there's no pushback from anybody because the tones match the character.
- 17:30Speaker 1: Peacemaker is supposed to be fucked up. He's a fucked
- 17:34Speaker 1: up dude, he does fucked up things. So there's gonna
- 17:36Speaker 1: be some very adult situations versus what they're trying to
- 17:40Speaker 1: do with Superman, where it's if you're going back to
- 17:42Speaker 1: his roots, if you're going back to the deepness of
- 17:45Speaker 1: his particular character about humanity, is going to be more
- 17:48Speaker 1: family friendly and a little bit more goofy, yes, got it.
- 17:51Speaker 1: There's gonna be in between. Whereas with MCU, I'm just like, well,
- 17:56Speaker 1: what characters do they have that they're going to actually
- 17:58Speaker 1: put on screen that they're going to be different with
- 18:01Speaker 1: besides maybe besides maybe the street level people like Dareduvil,
- 18:05Speaker 1: Dared Devils is probably the most, the most violent, the
- 18:09Speaker 1: most in terms of Daredevil.
- 18:10Speaker 2: Uh, you're I'm sure.
- 18:14Speaker 3: I was trying to remember has the MCA just has
- 18:16Speaker 3: spread up sucking and Dared Devil was fucking He did
- 18:20Speaker 3: a little.
- 18:20Speaker 1: I mean he he he was with Homegirl.
- 18:22Speaker 2: Yeah, she hope was fucking. She hoped was fucking right.
- 18:26Speaker 2: You know, the Devil was fucking on his own series, remember,
- 18:29Speaker 2: because he was with Night Nurse. He had a few,
- 18:31Speaker 2: he had my girl, you know, a few, but not
- 18:34Speaker 2: just that, like.
- 18:35Speaker 1: The dope situations you talk about, Like the closest we've
- 18:38Speaker 1: gotten was all the street level heroes. Yea, and Dared
- 18:42Speaker 1: Devil's kind of the one, the one, you know, he's
- 18:45Speaker 1: up there right now. He's the only one right now,
- 18:47Speaker 1: and it's like, what else did they got.
- 18:50Speaker 3: The season the kids? I'm sure he is no, I know,
- 18:54Speaker 3: I know in the first season. I'm saying, in the
- 18:56Speaker 3: new first season, I don't remember him smashing Yeah, oh
- 19:01Speaker 3: that fight he was know, You're right, yep, he was
- 19:03Speaker 3: still a getting okay, so they still all right, So
- 19:05Speaker 3: they still that's what I'm saying they still got the opportunity,
- 19:08Speaker 3: and that's.
- 19:08Speaker 1: The opportunity, but in what way?
- 19:11Speaker 3: But and I don't think whenever people say it's Disney,
- 19:13Speaker 3: I don't think that really holds weight because if you
- 19:16Speaker 3: look on Disney plus there is all you know, everything,
- 19:19Speaker 3: you know, it's not like Disney. You know, they have
- 19:23Speaker 3: different tears or whatever. You know, different studios that make different.
- 19:28Speaker 2: Films that will you know, be this now, Like I
- 19:33Speaker 2: can't tell you because they have a lot of like Search,
- 19:35Speaker 2: I'm not sure what of those studios are Disney. There's
- 19:38Speaker 2: a lot of little smaller studios that you hear about,
- 19:41Speaker 2: like you know where it's like what's his name? B
- 19:43Speaker 2: plus Brad Pitt, shit is under someone else? You know.
- 19:48Speaker 2: Disney has multiple I can't remember if it's Search, Like
- 19:51Speaker 2: it's one of them joints like that where you're like,
- 19:53Speaker 2: oh shit, that's Disney and it's al rated down the line,
- 19:57Speaker 2: you know what I mean. That's where they that's how
- 19:59Speaker 2: they do it so that people don't know it's Disney.
- 20:01Speaker 2: So to say that Disney won't do it, I don't think.
- 20:04Speaker 1: So.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Remember, Marvel was sanitizing Tony before Disney became part of it.
- 20:09Speaker 1: Well, I guess that's what my point is, Like, yeah, sure,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you're right, but now that's already in the history, and
- 20:14Speaker 1: that here comes Disney's like you gotta make money with this,
- 20:17Speaker 1: you gotta gotta grandmother kids again. Yeah, they've done it
- 20:20Speaker 1: in some respect, but I just feel like the door
- 20:22Speaker 1: is more open when it comes to DC.
- 20:23Speaker 2: No. I definitely, I definitely do that too, And especially
- 20:27Speaker 2: because someone like James Dunn who comes from a very
- 20:30Speaker 2: he comes from trauma films, which is a very shock
- 20:32Speaker 2: value type thing. So he's you know, he's grown with
- 20:36Speaker 2: that though.
- 20:36Speaker 3: And that's something where I really like about him as
- 20:38Speaker 3: a filmmaker, where he's grown and knows how to put
- 20:41Speaker 3: that shot. He but still knows how to get the
- 20:43Speaker 3: families in the seats. And then, like you said, you know,
- 20:47Speaker 3: to spand on that they're already doing it. They have Superman.
- 20:49Speaker 3: The next year they have Supergirl, which, while it's going
- 20:52Speaker 3: to be Superman asque Supergirls to be very different than
- 20:55Speaker 3: Superman and people are going to be very unexpectedly shock
- 21:00Speaker 3: probably when they go.
- 21:01Speaker 2: And see it.
- 21:01Speaker 3: And then on that Molly all that, and then they
- 21:05Speaker 3: have like Peacemaker, I mean Peacemaker they have a playface
- 21:08Speaker 3: coming out in that year, which is supposed to be
- 21:11Speaker 3: some body horror type shit. So they're already, you know,
- 21:15Speaker 3: trying to do a lot of different things. And yeah,
- 21:19Speaker 3: I said in my video, but I'm more excited for
- 21:21Speaker 3: them right now than I am from Marvel.
- 21:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:24Speaker 1: I mean, hey, twenty years, look at the look at
- 21:27Speaker 1: the change in twenty years. Look, you know gets here.
- 21:30Speaker 2: It was a good run Marvel. But I mean maybe,
- 21:33Speaker 2: but I'm not excited about the direct thirty X men.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So it's just like, are you still not excited? I mean,
- 21:38Speaker 1: are you so excited about doom ooh? Not that pause?
- 21:44Speaker 3: No, I don't think they've given it enough time. And
- 21:47Speaker 3: I'm not one hundred percent as belief in the Russos.
- 21:52Speaker 3: And only one of the writers from you know, the
- 21:55Speaker 3: writing team that made everything right is coming back for
- 21:58Speaker 3: this now.
- 21:59Speaker 2: Is he the good one? Let's hope. So, But I
- 22:01Speaker 2: also think, you know, it's a great team, and you know,
- 22:03Speaker 2: don't that's the team? You know?
- 22:05Speaker 1: So is he the god son?
- 22:08Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 22:09Speaker 3: You know, like you know, hopefully he ain't the one
- 22:11Speaker 3: that got dropped off the cliff, you know, the bridge.
- 22:16Speaker 2: The funny thing is I did not see that movie.
- 22:18Speaker 2: I was an adult, so I ride when that nigga
- 22:21Speaker 2: dropped because I was like, yo, this is so hilarious.
- 22:25Speaker 3: They dropped McCauley like he des he did he I mean,
- 22:31Speaker 3: he was a monster, but it was still the fact
- 22:33Speaker 3: that they dropped his ass, Like, I'm like, yo, if
- 22:35Speaker 3: I've seen this as a kid, I would have lost
- 22:37Speaker 3: it coming out of Home Alone and then watching that,
- 22:41Speaker 3: I would have lost it.
- 22:42Speaker 2: I would have not been able to handle it.
- 22:44Speaker 1: Also, as a kid, you don't realize it's the same person.
- 22:47Speaker 2: No, I knew. I knew because remember I'm like I
- 22:52Speaker 2: was different.
- 22:53Speaker 3: I was just enough of a kid where like I
- 22:56Speaker 3: was probably like mccaulay's age or a little younger.
- 22:59Speaker 2: But I knew him. He was an Uncle Buck, so
- 23:01Speaker 2: I was already.
- 23:02Speaker 3: Remember I'm a kid who loves movies, So you know,
- 23:04Speaker 3: I'm like, I know, you know, I'm like all that
- 23:05Speaker 3: little fuck from Uncle Buck because he was funny as
- 23:07Speaker 3: hell and Uncle Buck and then he got Home Alone
- 23:10Speaker 3: and blew.
- 23:10Speaker 1: I never I don't know what uncle Buck is.
- 23:12Speaker 3: Oh man, he's funny as hell and uncle Buck he's
- 23:14Speaker 3: uh yeah, he's my macauley.
- 23:16Speaker 1: History starts with Home Alone, Holdloe.
- 23:18Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he was an uncle Buck and I'm not
- 23:20Speaker 3: sure what else before that, but I knew him an
- 23:22Speaker 3: uncle buck because he curses, and you know, I was
- 23:24Speaker 3: a little kid, and so this little kid cursing, it
- 23:26Speaker 3: was like, you know, it's great. You know, mccauday's so
- 23:28Speaker 3: cute and him cursing was hilarious.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Yeah. But just the one other thing about that announcement
- 23:34Speaker 1: from James Gunn he it was accompanied by a teaser image. Yes,
- 23:38Speaker 1: the cartoon or cartoon or.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Anim Jimy cartoon. It's Trauma Book.
- 23:43Speaker 1: The comic book image, I should say, of Lex and
- 23:46Speaker 1: his warsuit with with soups right next to him. And
- 23:50Speaker 1: obviously that means that it's gonna be more of Lex.
- 23:53Speaker 1: And you know how I feel about Lex. I didn't
- 23:58Speaker 1: hate I didn't hate Man in the Superman twenty twenty
- 24:03Speaker 1: five film as I love them. I thought he was
- 24:06Speaker 1: cool again. I thought they they just did a little
- 24:08Speaker 1: bit too much like angry, you know, evil Jeff Bezos,
- 24:12Speaker 1: evil blurred Jeff Bezos versus just you know Lex. And
- 24:16Speaker 1: I would just like to see more of like the
- 24:19Speaker 1: intrinsic nature to why Lex does not fuck with soups
- 24:23Speaker 1: like because it still was giving. Just I'm just jealous
- 24:25Speaker 1: and not to say that's not the that's that can't
- 24:27Speaker 1: do that is part of it. That's part of it.
- 24:29Speaker 1: And that's my point. It's only part. It's not the
- 24:32Speaker 1: full extent of this man's hate. So yeah, I just
- 24:35Speaker 1: want to see more.
- 24:37Speaker 3: It's not the full extent, but it is like the
- 24:39Speaker 3: biggest part of it, because that's the thing.
- 24:41Speaker 2: It's like he.
- 24:42Speaker 3: He desguises his jealousy with a lot of bullshit about
- 24:45Speaker 3: why he hates him, because one of his big things
- 24:47Speaker 3: that he says is Superman is keeping back the human
- 24:51Speaker 3: race by being there, and that's bullshit.
- 24:53Speaker 2: And then the other one he tries to say is
- 24:55Speaker 2: why is that bullshit?
- 24:56Speaker 1: He feels like because people are becoming reliant on him,
- 24:59Speaker 1: Why is that bullshit?
- 25:01Speaker 2: Nigga? Because this nigga is only one nigga. He can't
- 25:03Speaker 2: be everywhere.
- 25:04Speaker 1: One nigga that's been stopping wars and stepping in and
- 25:07Speaker 1: making decisions on his own.
- 25:08Speaker 2: Okay, all right, but for the good of earth, right.
- 25:14Speaker 1: That's what we believe.
- 25:15Speaker 3: But believe that, yeah, and that's the problem, and that's
- 25:18Speaker 3: the other and that's the other thing that lets spits
- 25:20Speaker 3: to some nonsense.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Is flex feels we let us where the humans let
- 25:24Speaker 1: us handle our own ship.
- 25:25Speaker 3: And the other thing he says is if it was
- 25:27Speaker 3: up to me, I could say the world if you
- 25:29Speaker 3: weren't here, But.
- 25:30Speaker 1: She did and uh was it red Son, Which here's
- 25:37Speaker 1: a story where Lex basically makes a utopia only only through.
- 25:42Speaker 2: The help of Superman. That's Red Sun.
- 25:45Speaker 3: It's still only through that, but.
- 25:48Speaker 1: It was Lax.
- 25:54Speaker 3: That's the problem is his ass is jealous of this
- 25:57Speaker 3: nigga and it said it to being like, yo, we
- 25:59Speaker 3: can work together and do great things. This niggas a
- 26:02Speaker 3: hater and that is Lex's biggest problem is being a hater.
- 26:07Speaker 2: Like I always love the old.
- 26:09Speaker 3: School Superman where it's I'm not sure if it's disposure
- 26:13Speaker 3: to kryptonite, but it's something that makes Lestro bald as
- 26:16Speaker 3: a teenager. And that's why a small villain that beause
- 26:23Speaker 3: that goes back to the old school comics when they
- 26:25Speaker 3: were when they grew up together and in high school,
- 26:27Speaker 3: something happens and it makes leed'stro bald, and that's why
- 26:31Speaker 3: he hates him because he has like bright red hair
- 26:32Speaker 3: and I just always found out out.
- 26:34Speaker 1: But I just cannot let everything boil down to this
- 26:37Speaker 1: nigga's a jealous nigga. He never came off like that
- 26:43Speaker 1: to me because about Superman anime series.
- 26:45Speaker 2: But it's slickness. But it's that's what I'm saying. It's
- 26:48Speaker 2: it's a nigga who he's good.
- 26:49Speaker 3: At being charismatic and telling you a story, you know,
- 26:53Speaker 3: and he's telling you the story. Oh look at this
- 26:55Speaker 3: alien if not for him, but it's like, nigga, you
- 26:58Speaker 3: still here. And that's what Man says to him over
- 27:01Speaker 3: and over again. I'm here and you're here. What are
- 27:03Speaker 3: you doing but hating on me? How I'm over here
- 27:06Speaker 3: helping and you're just hating.
- 27:09Speaker 1: Tell it cannot just be that because then no, and
- 27:13Speaker 1: this is the reason why, because it's gonna get boring.
- 27:15Speaker 1: It's gonna be boring fast that it's just every movie,
- 27:18Speaker 1: every Superman movie, there's just this nigga that's hating.
- 27:20Speaker 2: We see. That's the thing about that image, Like, No,
- 27:24Speaker 2: that's that's the thing.
- 27:25Speaker 1: New film that we're gonna in twenty twenty seven is
- 27:27Speaker 1: gonna be Oh, I'm a hater twenty nine, Oh I'm
- 27:30Speaker 1: a hater likes gun knows that won't work and that's
- 27:34Speaker 1: the thing about that, and that's all I'm saying.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But look at that about.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Hate, no I'm saying, and look at the image that
- 27:40Speaker 3: it's not just Lex and his warsuit. It's Superman leaning
- 27:43Speaker 3: against lets looking at him like whatever, nigga, which.
- 27:47Speaker 1: Which happens also in the animated again the anime series
- 27:50Speaker 1: where it was like the rivalry basically it was on
- 27:53Speaker 1: some Gary o'catch ship where it's like I don't really
- 27:56Speaker 1: like you like that, nigga, but no our tolerance when
- 28:00Speaker 1: I need to.
- 28:01Speaker 2: And it also happens in your favorite red Son when
- 28:04Speaker 2: Brainiat dumb dumbs comes through. Yes, and that's what people are.
- 28:08Speaker 3: You know, there's a lot of speculation that Brainiac is
- 28:11Speaker 3: the villain of Man of Tomorrow because when you speak
- 28:14Speaker 3: about the tomorrow, you're speaking about the future, and that's
- 28:16Speaker 3: brainiac territory.
- 28:18Speaker 1: So shout out to front of the show seven, Shout
- 28:21Speaker 1: out seven, who said, that's a young kid who gave
- 28:24Speaker 1: his take. You know, he has some really good takes
- 28:27Speaker 1: on Superman and everything else. But he mentioned that he
- 28:30Speaker 1: felt that Brainiac should be the villain.
- 28:33Speaker 3: It definitely, I mean BRAINI that's the villain of Red Son.
- 28:37Speaker 3: Brainiac is part of the villain of All Star Superman.
- 28:40Speaker 3: So yeah, Braini, that's one of my favorite Superman villains
- 28:44Speaker 3: and one of the illis and one of.
- 28:45Speaker 2: The like, yeah, mister terrifying too.
- 28:48Speaker 3: That's what I really like about BRAINI at Brainiac is
- 28:50Speaker 3: terrifying when they do him as the you know, completely
- 28:53Speaker 3: computer intelligence where he just has no feeling and no
- 28:58Speaker 3: thought process that's anything like our Yeah, and then with
- 29:01Speaker 3: all the AI talk going on today, I think Brainy
- 29:04Speaker 3: that's like a perfect feeling right now, it makes sense.
- 29:06Speaker 1: I mean besides, like Brainiac had Superman villains have been
- 29:09Speaker 1: my favorite have been him in Dark Side. Oh yeah,
- 29:12Speaker 1: those are those are my two waves?
- 29:14Speaker 2: Who else? I love? Mister Mitchell Blick I cannot lie
- 29:17Speaker 2: miol I love him. He's just so ill.
- 29:20Speaker 3: I mean, you know that's supposed to be him in
- 29:22Speaker 3: the background of Superman twenty twenty five, where when he's
- 29:27Speaker 3: talking to Lowest and the Justice Dangers in the background
- 29:29Speaker 3: battling this energy thing. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, that's what
- 29:33Speaker 3: it might be, mitchplit because he says it's an interdimensional
- 29:36Speaker 3: imp and that's what mister Bay is.
- 29:41Speaker 2: Yeah, he isn't.
- 29:42Speaker 3: And you're not, and he doesn't look like the little
- 29:44Speaker 3: old man. That's not what it really looks like. But
- 29:47Speaker 3: it really looks like something like that.
- 29:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, okay, I'll take it if that's true.
- 29:53Speaker 3: So yeah, I was gonna make a joke on Threads
- 29:56Speaker 3: the other day that JD. Vance said his name backwards.
- 29:58Speaker 3: He probably vanishes.
- 30:01Speaker 1: I wish she would, she would do something.
- 30:04Speaker 3: So that's all I promise you. If they just did
- 30:09Speaker 3: him to say his name backward to vanish to the
- 30:11Speaker 3: fifth dimension. Oh my god, you just look in an dimensional.
- 30:20Speaker 3: We got some reviews you want to start off with.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Well, let me get this out the way before I
- 30:24Speaker 1: started crying. So I saw The Long Walk a few
- 30:29Speaker 1: weeks ago. Actually I saw it rather early, and I
- 30:33Speaker 1: wish i'd never seen it. And and let me be clear, yeah,
- 30:39Speaker 1: not because it's a bad movie. It's actually incredible. Yep,
- 30:43Speaker 1: it's extremely well done. It is an adaptation of the
- 30:47Speaker 1: Stephen King novel of the same name. I never read
- 30:50Speaker 1: the book, but after the film I did like read
- 30:52Speaker 1: through like excerpts of the book and try to like
- 30:54Speaker 1: try to match up with a lot of the scenes
- 30:56Speaker 1: that I saw.
- 30:57Speaker 3: Yeah, it's actually written. Stephen King did write it, but
- 31:00Speaker 3: he wrote it under his pen name Richard Bachman at
- 31:03Speaker 3: a point when he was trying to see if he
- 31:04Speaker 3: could sell books without being Stephen King King, and it
- 31:08Speaker 3: still sold pretty well. From what I understand, I read it.
- 31:12Speaker 1: Because it's incredible.
- 31:14Speaker 3: Yeah, I read it when I was a kid, like
- 31:16Speaker 3: not a kid kid, but very young. And it's so
- 31:19Speaker 3: when we got the offer to see the film, I told,
- 31:22Speaker 3: ain't no way, because I already know like the Long
- 31:25Speaker 3: Walk and the Running Man book and they're doing the
- 31:27Speaker 3: Running Man film later on this year are two of
- 31:30Speaker 3: those Stephen King stories that ruined me, and so I
- 31:33Speaker 3: had no desire to see this movie.
- 31:36Speaker 1: But yeah, and as mentioned, I really wish I didn't
- 31:39Speaker 1: see it, only because, like I wish I had known
- 31:43Speaker 1: ahead of time and prep myself by knowing what the
- 31:46Speaker 1: book was about. The problem was, like I was intrigued
- 31:49Speaker 1: by the premise of the film of the Travelers.
- 31:54Speaker 2: That's not happening to me as a kid.
- 31:57Speaker 1: I was like this, shiit wow, And I'm thinking it's
- 32:00Speaker 1: just like level six wild, right, No, this is level
- 32:04Speaker 1: two hundred and thirty five of the level of wild
- 32:07Speaker 1: that it could ever be. And the book is already
- 32:13Speaker 1: brutal and messed up, and the film just to it's different.
- 32:20Speaker 1: As everyone knows, when you're reading a book, especially books
- 32:22Speaker 1: that dictate things that are graphed happening, you are making
- 32:27Speaker 1: pictures in your mind. You are, especially if you're very illustrative,
- 32:32Speaker 1: when it comes to your imagination. As you read, you're
- 32:34Speaker 1: gonna see what you're gonna see. But it's probably still
- 32:36Speaker 1: not gonna be as fucked up. But what someone else
- 32:39Speaker 1: thinks the imagery of that scene should be right, especially
- 32:42Speaker 1: someone that's already twisted, Which is why I think the
- 32:44Speaker 1: director Francis I think he's a little twisted because the
- 32:47Speaker 1: way he interpreted certain scenes in that book was just
- 32:52Speaker 1: beyond beyond the pale when it comes to the level
- 32:57Speaker 1: of violence that I expected, Like I'm I thought I knew,
- 33:00Speaker 1: but I didn't know. And the trailers think the trailers
- 33:03Speaker 1: for those who were you know, are like, oh, it's
- 33:05Speaker 1: not that big of a deal. The trailers do not
- 33:07Speaker 1: give how big of a deal it really is. And
- 33:11Speaker 1: it's probably more so why why my reaction has been
- 33:15Speaker 1: so outsized. It is because these are they're not children,
- 33:18Speaker 1: but they're young men. These aren't like grown old ass
- 33:22Speaker 1: men that had their whole life, and you know, at
- 33:24Speaker 1: the at the end of their.
- 33:26Speaker 3: Time, these are young men, be eighteen, right, that's one
- 33:29Speaker 3: of the rules that are long walk.
- 33:31Speaker 2: I don't remember, I don't know, I don't know.
- 33:33Speaker 1: That's still the was still the case. But the fact
- 33:35Speaker 1: is they're young because.
- 33:36Speaker 2: One of them lies to get in, because one of
- 33:38Speaker 2: them lies to get in.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, but again they changed some stuff in the film,
- 33:43Speaker 1: so it might be a little different in the film
- 33:44Speaker 1: than in the book. But the point is these as
- 33:46Speaker 1: young men with their lives fully ahead of them. And
- 33:50Speaker 1: as mentioned, there are some who are maybe younger than
- 33:52Speaker 1: they appear. And you see some things. You see some things.
- 33:56Speaker 1: You see some horrifying, terrifying things, and it's not scary
- 34:01Speaker 1: in the in the sense of you know, jump scares
- 34:04Speaker 1: or anything like that, even though there are a couple
- 34:07Speaker 1: which is just just just again ruined me. As you say,
- 34:11Speaker 1: it's more psychological horror, psychological trauma. And as I mentioned
- 34:16Speaker 1: in my social review, my quick social review, you have
- 34:19Speaker 1: to be very careful with this film.
- 34:21Speaker 2: If you.
- 34:23Speaker 1: If you are have some stuff going on in your
- 34:25Speaker 1: life right now that you want to keep your peace,
- 34:28Speaker 1: I would not say to go watch this again, it's
- 34:32Speaker 1: an incredible good film. It's well directed, the ensemble cast,
- 34:39Speaker 1: and hopefully we'll get to actually interview some of them.
- 34:40Speaker 1: But the ensemble cast, they do an incredible job with
- 34:43Speaker 1: each other because it's a lot of dialogue as well.
- 34:47Speaker 1: It's dialogue heavy, and it has to be because it's
- 34:49Speaker 1: literally a movie about people walking for hundreds of miles
- 34:52Speaker 1: and you're just with them walking. There's besides the stuff
- 34:55Speaker 1: that happens, and then there's no other main point of action.
- 34:59Speaker 1: So it requires good synergy between the actors. It requires
- 35:03Speaker 1: them to befriend each other, requires you to believe that befriending,
- 35:08Speaker 1: and it works. I will say that there are some
- 35:12Speaker 1: characters where you don't really get and I don't I
- 35:16Speaker 1: don't know if that's just you didn't have the time
- 35:17Speaker 1: to or what, or just maybe the way that they
- 35:21Speaker 1: were interpreted. You don't get to see. They're more like
- 35:23Speaker 1: sketches of fully characters versus you know, you get the
- 35:28Speaker 1: real history behind them, like why, what their motives are
- 35:32Speaker 1: if that makes any sense, Like you know, you'll have
- 35:34Speaker 1: the person who is the evil one quote quote, you
- 35:37Speaker 1: have the person who is the kid quote like they
- 35:40Speaker 1: some of them are more like archetypes as opposed to
- 35:43Speaker 1: fully fleshed characters. And again, I don't know if that's
- 35:46Speaker 1: just didn't have the time for that or is.
- 35:48Speaker 2: Just a differend.
- 35:49Speaker 1: It's a lot of characters, it's a lot, but the
- 35:52Speaker 1: only really focus on like maybe five or six people.
- 35:54Speaker 2: That's the thing. I mean, five or six is a
- 35:56Speaker 2: lot for a film to carry.
- 35:57Speaker 1: So well, you know what, we've seen it done foreign
- 36:00Speaker 1: TV shows with with less time.
- 36:02Speaker 3: So no c TV shows are more time. Remember that
- 36:05Speaker 3: TV shows are going to be episodic. You're gonna have no.
- 36:07Speaker 1: No, no, I'm talking about in one episode. What I'm
- 36:09Speaker 1: saying is it's Britson about how some of the characterizations
- 36:16Speaker 1: are okay.
- 36:18Speaker 3: Also, you know, again, a TV show is a different
- 36:20Speaker 3: audience of film. You know, it's a big screen. You're
- 36:22Speaker 3: gonna have to get to the point, you know, and
- 36:24Speaker 3: then like you know, get to the shootings him.
- 36:30Speaker 2: Bullets do hurt.
- 36:31Speaker 1: It's horrific some of the the ways that these kids
- 36:36Speaker 1: go out.
- 36:37Speaker 2: Yeah, for those that don't, the quick premise of the
- 36:40Speaker 2: thing is that there's it's an alter the Future type.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Thing where it's a game show. People can enter, there's
- 36:47Speaker 3: a prize and the game or contest is you must walk.
- 36:53Speaker 3: And if you did blow four miles that's.
- 36:55Speaker 2: The book four miles pour.
- 36:57Speaker 1: It's three miles powers prior in the film, you get
- 37:02Speaker 1: a warning and then your third warning you were shot
- 37:05Speaker 1: by people who are driving alongside as the boys walk.
- 37:09Speaker 2: Yeah, and that's it.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, and and and all this is this is direct
- 37:13Speaker 1: from the trailers, so we're not telling you anything.
- 37:14Speaker 2: That's noticed before you go in and see.
- 37:18Speaker 1: This film and you see that it's like it's militarized, right,
- 37:21Speaker 1: Like the people who are driving alongside them are military people.
- 37:23Speaker 1: So and these are just regular kids. And again just
- 37:26Speaker 1: imagine just you're just walking. Yeah, you're just walking for
- 37:31Speaker 1: hundreds and hundreds of miles until it's the last man standing.
- 37:35Speaker 2: Yep.
- 37:35Speaker 1: So again I thought, you know, from the premise alone,
- 37:38Speaker 1: I was like, oh, that's tough, but oh like, how
- 37:41Speaker 1: bad could it be?
- 37:44Speaker 2: And I told you, I was like, well, it's one
- 37:46Speaker 2: of those all farm books I've ever read.
- 37:48Speaker 1: It's man again, well done film, I will never see
- 37:53Speaker 1: it again.
- 37:54Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:54Speaker 3: I've told people about this, like, I'm a huge Stephen
- 37:58Speaker 3: Keanon fan. But when you talk about books that ruined
- 38:02Speaker 3: me as a child, several of his are on there,
- 38:05Speaker 3: and The Long Walk, the Running Man, and the Mists
- 38:09Speaker 3: are all up in there. Like I'll never forget sitting
- 38:12Speaker 3: in classes elementary school when I'm reading The Mists and
- 38:14Speaker 3: at one point they're driving and I lift my head
- 38:17Speaker 3: up from the book and I felt the car like
- 38:20Speaker 3: going away from me, you know what I mean, Like
- 38:22Speaker 3: I felt like I was driving with them. That's how
- 38:26Speaker 3: in this fucking book I was. That's you know, like
- 38:29Speaker 3: I felt the motion of the car. I'm sitting in
- 38:31Speaker 3: my desk at school, but I felt the motion of
- 38:35Speaker 3: the cars. I mean, you talk about like so that's
- 38:37Speaker 3: fine when you know it's like, yeah, this director might
- 38:39Speaker 3: have it, but I knew childhood that The Long Walk
- 38:42Speaker 3: was something.
- 38:43Speaker 2: I never needed to read or see again.
- 38:45Speaker 1: So yeah, and again this is very it's extremely graphic. Yeah,
- 38:50Speaker 1: the things that you watch these kids endure is like
- 38:58Speaker 1: you would never think that they would force should watch it.
- 39:00Speaker 1: Like a lot of times, especially in films, they'll cut
- 39:03Speaker 1: away like or they'll get they'll tease something, or they
- 39:06Speaker 1: do silhouettes or shadows or whatever. No, they show you, Yep,
- 39:11Speaker 1: you see the stuff happening. You just see it all.
- 39:15Speaker 1: And I just that will it's burning my brain forever.
- 39:21Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I'm so good. I gotta say.
- 39:23Speaker 3: They're doing an adaptation of The Running Man later this year,
- 39:27Speaker 3: and even from the trailer, it seems that they're going
- 39:31Speaker 3: closer to the book than the original Running Man film,
- 39:35Speaker 3: with a start on the Schwarzenegger, which was completely different
- 39:39Speaker 3: from the book. And so just the idea of them
- 39:41Speaker 3: getting close to the book started like, you know, those
- 39:45Speaker 3: hairs on the back of my nets started standing up
- 39:47Speaker 3: because it's just like, oh God, that book is one
- 39:50Speaker 3: of those books that I just regret reading. Most Stephen
- 39:54Speaker 3: King books that I read as a child, I regret reading,
- 39:57Speaker 3: like seriously, just like you regret seeing be.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Really Stephen King as a child.
- 40:01Speaker 2: This is probably true. This is probably true.
- 40:05Speaker 1: Another thing, this film obviously is not for children, and
- 40:09Speaker 1: it's barely for adults because certain adults will not be
- 40:12Speaker 1: able to have the mental capacity to really processes as mentioned.
- 40:16Speaker 1: Just be very careful. If you know yourself, or I
- 40:19Speaker 1: should say know yourself, get to learn yourself, and if
- 40:22Speaker 1: you cannot process that type of brutality and graphic nature
- 40:27Speaker 1: of what kind of mirrors was going on today, then
- 40:32Speaker 1: you might want to be cared. You might want to
- 40:35Speaker 1: take a pass or at least some be be prepared
- 40:38Speaker 1: to take breaks if you can, because I assume this
- 40:42Speaker 1: is not going to be in theaters for that long,
- 40:44Speaker 1: considering they keep pulling stuff so fast nowadays. So if
- 40:47Speaker 1: you end up watching this at home, like on streaming
- 40:50Speaker 1: when it eventually comes to streaming, take some breaks if
- 40:52Speaker 1: you need to.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Yeah, I would definitely recommend it because, like I said,
- 40:57Speaker 3: I've read it, and I just knew and you know,
- 40:59Speaker 3: and I knew that they were sticking way too close
- 41:01Speaker 3: to the book, and then Todd down has told me
- 41:03Speaker 3: the whole thing, and so I'm like, oh.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Yeah, when I read it against the book and then
- 41:07Speaker 1: I look at the I just remember when I saw it,
- 41:09Speaker 1: I was like, they actually did.
- 41:11Speaker 2: That, and they do the whole go ahead? Do they
- 41:14Speaker 2: do the whole diarrhea incident?
- 41:16Speaker 1: And for fans of the book, I'm not going to
- 41:19Speaker 1: answer that as for fans because I don't want to
- 41:23Speaker 1: give nothing away, But for.
- 41:24Speaker 2: Fans that means the fans of the book.
- 41:27Speaker 1: If you're worried about them wording it down, no, they
- 41:30Speaker 1: turned it up. They turned it up like a lot
- 41:34Speaker 1: of That was one of the other things that I
- 41:35Speaker 1: saw floating around people were just because I looked around
- 41:38Speaker 1: the see what the internet was talking about when they
- 41:40Speaker 1: thought about law. And they was like, oh, I hope
- 41:41Speaker 1: that they didn't, you know, sanitize this or no it's
- 41:45Speaker 1: dirty as fuck.
- 41:46Speaker 2: Yeah, I believe.
- 41:47Speaker 1: Sitized about it.
- 41:49Speaker 2: It's hard not to be.
- 41:50Speaker 3: It's just such a good like you say, it sounds
- 41:52Speaker 3: like that saying I'm like ten eleven, maybe twelve. You know,
- 41:56Speaker 3: somebody's like, oh, you know, check out this, and I'm like, oh,
- 41:58Speaker 3: the Long Walk and they read it and they're like.
- 42:00Speaker 2: Yo, this is this happens. I'm like, oh, word, and
- 42:02Speaker 2: I'm like, that's an ill premise.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Now, that's an innocence killer. They should not have told.
- 42:06Speaker 2: You, yeah, And it was they should not that, yeah,
- 42:10Speaker 2: because and I just thought and I was like, oh,
- 42:12Speaker 2: this is interesting.
- 42:12Speaker 3: And then you you know, and that's how SIMI can
- 42:14Speaker 3: get you. And it's like, you know, he's such a
- 42:16Speaker 3: great writer and such a great storyteller.
- 42:17Speaker 2: It.
- 42:19Speaker 3: Oh man, he has this one about time, not time travel,
- 42:21Speaker 3: about teleportation, and it's a very short story.
- 42:26Speaker 2: It might be twenty some pages.
- 42:28Speaker 1: And was that one when the person's got like ripped apart,
- 42:31Speaker 1: no body parts or something like that.
- 42:33Speaker 3: No, it interests somebody tearing their eyes out though, so
- 42:36Speaker 3: it's pretty bad.
- 42:37Speaker 1: But that's the body part.
- 42:40Speaker 3: It was basically the story about how man kind of
- 42:42Speaker 3: vince teleportation, and when they teleport, there's like one point
- 42:47Speaker 3: something seconds that they can't account for because you have
- 42:50Speaker 3: to go through a portal, you know, that's how they
- 42:52Speaker 3: do it, and anyone who sees what's in that portal
- 42:56Speaker 3: goes insane. And so to counter at that, they made
- 43:01Speaker 3: people take sleeping gas. You know, it's like a plane
- 43:03Speaker 3: like you know, everybody gets on the plane, everybody gets
- 43:06Speaker 3: taken them sleeping gas, and then they push the plane through.
- 43:09Speaker 2: The portal and you tell the port you know, no problem.
- 43:12Speaker 3: And the whole story is about this man telling his
- 43:15Speaker 3: son about you know, the whole history of it. You know,
- 43:19Speaker 3: how they figured out the portals, how they kept sending
- 43:22Speaker 3: people through, and they were going insane. It's an animals,
- 43:24Speaker 3: nothing worth. And then they figured out if you were
- 43:26Speaker 3: to sleep, you know, you were fine. Boom boom boom,
- 43:28Speaker 3: and now we have worldwide teleportation. And so then they
- 43:32Speaker 3: go through the portal, and the fucking kid, because he
- 43:36Speaker 3: heard this story, wants to see what was out there,
- 43:38Speaker 3: and he helds his breath during the sleeping gas, and
- 43:44Speaker 3: so he goes insane and comes out and they're like,
- 43:46Speaker 3: the kid looks like a.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Ninety year old man.
- 43:48Speaker 3: His hair is all white, all kind of shit. And
- 43:51Speaker 3: then he's like, I saw that. I saw that.
- 43:53Speaker 2: And he tears his.
- 43:54Speaker 3: Eyes out and they drag his dad away, screaming, and
- 43:58Speaker 3: that's the end of the short story.
- 44:00Speaker 1: Stephen King, Ladies and gentlemen, fucking Stephen King, Ladies and gentlemen.
- 44:04Speaker 3: And I'm sitting reading like, well, this is interesting because
- 44:07Speaker 3: it's like, you know, they're breaking down how the scientists
- 44:08Speaker 3: figure out the teleportation.
- 44:10Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, that's so cool. Yeah, well that's interesting.
- 44:13Speaker 1: And that's what and that's how it gets you. Oh,
- 44:14Speaker 1: this is and that's what happened.
- 44:15Speaker 2: This is an interesting premise. That's how he does you.
- 44:18Speaker 1: That's how Stephen King do you people crazy. Oh, this
- 44:23Speaker 1: is a good idea, right, this sounds what you're Let's
- 44:25Speaker 1: let's keep going.
- 44:27Speaker 2: Horror, horrorr tay her and horror.
- 44:31Speaker 3: All right, Well, I have a her view myself of
- 44:34Speaker 3: something that is not so terror and horror oriented.
- 44:39Speaker 2: Robo force.
- 44:40Speaker 1: What's that?
- 44:42Speaker 2: Robo force is a reboot, reimagining. I'm not sure what
- 44:49Speaker 2: you wanna actually call it, since they never I don't
- 44:53Speaker 2: as far as I know, Robo Force never had a
- 44:54Speaker 2: cartoon back to day anyway. Back in the day, you know,
- 44:58Speaker 2: in the early eighties, there was Transformers, and then there
- 45:01Speaker 2: was a lot of biers. There's a lot of people.
- 45:05Speaker 2: There's a lot of people Transformers. There's a lot of
- 45:07Speaker 2: people trying to live off the fame of Transformers.
- 45:09Speaker 1: It's all say yes, okay, wow.
- 45:15Speaker 3: And there was you know, go Bots, who are known
- 45:18Speaker 3: as the pure on Transformers biers. Like you know when
- 45:23Speaker 3: when mom said you had Transformers at home.
- 45:25Speaker 2: She meant you had go Bots, Like it was not
- 45:28Speaker 2: a good look, that's a.
- 45:29Speaker 1: Dollar store bots.
- 45:30Speaker 2: It was.
- 45:33Speaker 1: Transformers.
- 45:34Speaker 2: You want to remember that. I remember when I got
- 45:36Speaker 2: a go Bot. I was so hurt. It was so
- 45:38Speaker 2: bad and their cartoon was weak.
- 45:41Speaker 3: It was everything about it was terrible, Like Transformers isn't
- 45:45Speaker 3: the best of high entertainment.
- 45:46Speaker 2: But go Bots was asked, and then.
- 45:49Speaker 1: There was still on brand versus off brand.
- 45:51Speaker 3: Yeah, and then there was robo Force, which they don't
- 45:55Speaker 3: even really transform so they weren't even that. But you know,
- 45:57Speaker 3: robots of everybody was trying to get a piece of
- 45:59Speaker 3: the buy and whatever a company had. Robero Force had
- 46:02Speaker 3: these toys. They were like little clunky robots with rubbery
- 46:07Speaker 3: arms or whatever. They couldn't do much. I had a
- 46:09Speaker 3: couple of them as a kid, but they were asked.
- 46:11Speaker 2: I can't lie.
- 46:11Speaker 3: There was nothing about robo Force that made you want
- 46:13Speaker 3: to buy more than one of them most so that
- 46:16Speaker 3: never really went anywhere. But in twenty twenty five, Robo
- 46:19Speaker 3: Force has a new series. It's out on two B.
- 46:22Speaker 3: We got sent preview copies of it, so I peeped it.
- 46:26Speaker 3: It's all out now, dropped in April. Actually, I can't
- 46:30Speaker 3: say I was blown away by rober Force or anything
- 46:32Speaker 3: or that I was like, wow, this is, you know,
- 46:35Speaker 3: more than I expected.
- 46:37Speaker 2: It was about what I expected.
- 46:39Speaker 3: You know, for robo Force, Like it was a very
- 46:44Speaker 3: kid oriented cartoon. I'll say that the one the couple
- 46:49Speaker 3: things that I really did enjoy about it is that
- 46:52Speaker 3: it has a lead character, sorayah Avaram, who was a.
- 46:57Speaker 2: You know, young East Indian woman.
- 47:02Speaker 3: You know, child like you know ten to eleven, I guess,
- 47:05Speaker 3: and she basically leads the robo Force. She puts them
- 47:08Speaker 3: back together that's in the future where the robots are
- 47:11Speaker 3: plenty and the Robo Force are of course the line
- 47:14Speaker 3: that you know has been abandoned and nobody messes with anymore,
- 47:18Speaker 3: basically a callback to you know, the old Robo Force
- 47:21Speaker 3: of the nineteen eighties, Like those are the old eighties
- 47:23Speaker 3: toys that nobody plays with anymore. She puts them back
- 47:26Speaker 3: together and they go on wacky adventures, you know, as
- 47:28Speaker 3: you would say. It's a series, so you know it's
- 47:30Speaker 3: troub be whacky adventures. The one thing that I did enjoy,
- 47:34Speaker 3: beyond you know, having a personal color or young woman
- 47:37Speaker 3: personal color doing stem stuff, which is very dope, is
- 47:41Speaker 3: that the series does take some twists and turns. It's
- 47:44Speaker 3: like some friends who become foes and foes who become
- 47:47Speaker 3: friends and all that type of thing, and they're trying
- 47:51Speaker 3: to tie it into a larger universe. There's a couple
- 47:53Speaker 3: of other They have a bootled teenage Muni Ninja Turtles
- 47:57Speaker 3: that they tieing in into from the eighties.
- 48:00Speaker 2: Something about these mice. I can't remember what it is.
- 48:02Speaker 3: I never paid attention to that, but it's another you know,
- 48:05Speaker 3: boot leg So they got to come up bootleg properties
- 48:07Speaker 3: that they're building their own boutleg universe.
- 48:10Speaker 1: And I see that this is exactly produced by the
- 48:13Speaker 1: Rock Dwayne Johnson, Danny Garcia and then Brian Volkee Weiss.
- 48:19Speaker 1: Brian Brian is the producer. He's produced a lot of
- 48:22Speaker 1: ship actually uh cleaning some shit with Kevin Hart and
- 48:27Speaker 1: all that. You know, even though I was clowning to
- 48:29Speaker 1: be not for nothing, to Be is actually doing a thing.
- 48:33Speaker 2: That's what I'm saying.
- 48:35Speaker 1: Anymore, Well, yes I can, but you can always hate
- 48:38Speaker 1: on to Be. But what I'm saying is that they
- 48:40Speaker 1: do have some good stuff in the mix. Like I
- 48:43Speaker 1: want to start watching Damascus.
- 48:45Speaker 2: Yes, that's my people show.
- 48:47Speaker 1: The black sci fi show. I call it black sci
- 48:51Speaker 1: fi show. But it's about uh, you know, a black
- 48:53Speaker 1: man like he experiments with emerging therapy that sends him
- 48:56Speaker 1: into alternate timelines of his own life. Has an incredible
- 49:01Speaker 1: cast too, So I'm just like, oh shit, I kind
- 49:03Speaker 1: of I kind of want to say it like it
- 49:05Speaker 1: stars Janet Hubert, black On, viv Shakiraj and I pe
- 49:09Speaker 1: Martin Lawrence and then the main character, I don't want
- 49:14Speaker 1: to mispronounce his name, but ok RITI Ope, that's how
- 49:19Speaker 1: I fed sai Ocrette. Yeah, this this is a great
- 49:23Speaker 1: cast actually, and I just heard that, like, like I said,
- 49:26Speaker 1: it's on to me, so people, I mean, I give
- 49:28Speaker 1: the chance, like I don't. I've never really been on
- 49:30Speaker 1: to be like that besides seeing the clips. But people
- 49:33Speaker 1: say that this is really good.
- 49:34Speaker 2: No, and shout out to my brother.
- 49:36Speaker 3: Kirk writes that's one of my black men writer from Hollywood.
- 49:40Speaker 2: He executive produced that show.
- 49:42Speaker 3: And why why it's so good is because it was
- 49:45Speaker 3: actually on another network.
- 49:47Speaker 2: I want to say it was an AMC show.
- 49:49Speaker 3: And they produced it, did everything with it because I
- 49:52Speaker 3: remember when he was first getting it together and he
- 49:55Speaker 3: was telling me about some people they were trying to
- 49:57Speaker 3: get cast on it, thank God or not. And I
- 50:02Speaker 3: don't know why AMC abandoned it, but they had I
- 50:05Speaker 3: think they produced and created the whole show, and it
- 50:08Speaker 3: was like, now when I can put this on?
- 50:10Speaker 2: So it got picked up by.
- 50:11Speaker 3: To be so and as he said, he had some
- 50:14Speaker 3: really good people behind him who kept fighting for it
- 50:16Speaker 3: to make sure they have found a new home.
- 50:18Speaker 2: So yeah, y'all go check out the Master. Yeah.
- 50:21Speaker 1: So if Toby ends up being a place where it
- 50:23Speaker 1: saves like especially like independently, you know, written or produced
- 50:27Speaker 1: things like I'm all for it because that tends to
- 50:29Speaker 1: be the good stuff you really you know, won't be
- 50:33Speaker 1: able to see on other places. So again I won't
- 50:36Speaker 1: but put too much on to be if they keep
- 50:37Speaker 1: going in this direction.
- 50:38Speaker 3: No, And like I say, if for kids and for
- 50:41Speaker 3: people you know of my generation and a little bit
- 50:45Speaker 3: younger who have kids, now this is something you know
- 50:48Speaker 3: that might be worth checking out, I would definitely check
- 50:50Speaker 3: out well Beth for it. Yeah, because, like I said,
- 50:53Speaker 3: it features a POC woman as the lead, which a
- 50:57Speaker 3: you know girl as the lead, which is really dope,
- 50:59Speaker 3: you know what I mean, I really I had to
- 51:00Speaker 3: see that, and the fact that she's involved in STEM,
- 51:02Speaker 3: she's the smartest character on the show. All that type
- 51:04Speaker 3: of thing is dope, and you know, to give you
- 51:06Speaker 3: that nostalgia vibes, it's very simple animation, et cetera. It
- 51:11Speaker 3: feels like in eighties early nineties, you know, animated cartoon
- 51:16Speaker 3: show that has been rebooted for now, you know. So
- 51:19Speaker 3: if you've got nothing else and you're looking for a
- 51:22Speaker 3: kids show something to occupy at the time, definitely check.
- 51:25Speaker 2: Out Roll before Us.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Okay, one other thing that I would recommend. I love documentaries.
- 51:30Speaker 1: I'm a big documentary buff. I love and I love
- 51:33Speaker 1: all types of documentaries, like from the one on one
- 51:35Speaker 1: interview type styles into the ones that are like the large,
- 51:38Speaker 1: you know, sweeping ones like I've watched. I don't know
- 51:40Speaker 1: if you watched, and it was hard to watch us
- 51:42Speaker 1: remembering that because I was in school when it was happening.
- 51:44Speaker 1: But the Katrina documentary, yeah, I.
- 51:46Speaker 2: Know, I haven't because you know that's I knew people
- 51:49Speaker 2: who died it. Yeah, yeah, it was very Yeah, it was.
- 51:54Speaker 3: I was like my girl at the time, her grandmother
- 51:58Speaker 3: was not her grandmother, but her her best friends grandmother was.
- 52:02Speaker 2: Her house was underwater, and then I forward, yeah, they
- 52:05Speaker 2: were in there.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Yeah. And and like my class was like that first
- 52:09Speaker 1: class that we did alternative spring break where we actually
- 52:11Speaker 1: went to New Orleans to help with the clean up efforts.
- 52:14Speaker 1: It was like six months or so after. So so
- 52:18Speaker 1: I did watch the Hulu and this is interesting. This
- 52:20Speaker 1: keeps happening with Hulu and Netflix. And yes it's the
- 52:22Speaker 1: twenty the twentieth anniversary, but like Netflix has the Katrina
- 52:29Speaker 1: what's it called Hurricane Katrina racis excuse me? Hulu has
- 52:33Speaker 1: Hurricane Katrina Race Against Time. That's the one I watched,
- 52:36Speaker 1: which just really again just shows the level of competency
- 52:40Speaker 1: and racism and everything else that had really signified all
- 52:49Speaker 1: of the what went wrong with her Hurricane Katrina, amongst
- 52:52Speaker 1: other things. And then there what I haven't watched yet
- 52:55Speaker 1: is the Netflix version of theirs is called Katrina Come
- 52:58Speaker 1: Hell and High Water, And a lot of people who
- 53:01Speaker 1: are in the Hula one actually show up in the
- 53:03Speaker 1: Netflix one as the people that get interviewed and things
- 53:06Speaker 1: like that, including like the key players, like the like
- 53:09Speaker 1: the police chief at the time, and some other people. Again,
- 53:14Speaker 1: this is one of those things where this is trigger warning, right,
- 53:16Speaker 1: like if you're able to like, like for me, I
- 53:18Speaker 1: have big triggers when it comes to nine to eleven stuff,
- 53:20Speaker 1: being from New York, being around when that happened. It's
- 53:23Speaker 1: a lot, right, I can't really watch that stuff. If
- 53:26Speaker 1: this is a trigger for you when it comes to Katrina,
- 53:28Speaker 1: you know, that's warning for you. But otherwise, like you know, justice,
- 53:32Speaker 1: it needs to be taught, especially to the new gen
- 53:34Speaker 1: that hasn't you know, they just know it by name
- 53:37Speaker 1: or they know it by the memes. The whole you know,
- 53:39Speaker 1: George Bets don't care about black people, but it was
- 53:40Speaker 1: obviously way more than that, and I would definitely recommend
- 53:44Speaker 1: it the Netflix series, excuse me, the Hulu series, and
- 53:47Speaker 1: I' probably gonna I'm gonna start watching the Netflix series.
- 53:49Speaker 1: We'll see how that goes and the differences between there.
- 53:51Speaker 1: And then the other thing that I wanted to recommend
- 53:54Speaker 1: that I actually just watched recently is the anti social
- 53:57Speaker 1: Network that actually came out in twenty twenty four or
- 54:00Speaker 1: another documentary, and it basically to boil all the down
- 54:03Speaker 1: shows the link edge, the linkage between four Chan and
- 54:09Speaker 1: the mag of movement as you see oh wow, yeah,
- 54:12Speaker 1: and when you like the way it connected the dots
- 54:15Speaker 1: and the way that the people who were involved in
- 54:18Speaker 1: the creation and group of four chan, like those are
- 54:21Speaker 1: the people who do the primary first person interviews in it.
- 54:26Speaker 1: And when they start making the links to all of
- 54:29Speaker 1: the ways that all the different like major social things
- 54:33Speaker 1: that's happened in this country in the last fifteen twenty years,
- 54:37Speaker 1: right like Occupy Wall Street. When it comes to like
- 54:40Speaker 1: those man against the Machine type things, Occupy Wall Street, Anonymous,
- 54:46Speaker 1: the Tea Party, all this other stuff, like when you
- 54:49Speaker 1: see the linkage between that and how again how dangerous
- 54:53Speaker 1: things have become with so many things happen internet spilling
- 54:56Speaker 1: over to the real world and how people get and
- 55:00Speaker 1: essentially is also precursor to show how people get red
- 55:02Speaker 1: pilled again those like the people who they typically go to,
- 55:06Speaker 1: young men who are lonely or feel slighted, and this,
- 55:09Speaker 1: this and that, and now you have this community of
- 55:11Speaker 1: quote like minded people who get you into conspiracy theories
- 55:15Speaker 1: and get you into misogyny and all this other stuff,
- 55:17Speaker 1: right and this this documentary actually goes into all of that,
- 55:22Speaker 1: and like it really draws the lines very cleanly, and
- 55:26Speaker 1: you're like, oh shit, that's where these people are coming from.
- 55:29Speaker 1: And all those now this damn near all of those
- 55:31Speaker 1: fortune people are now grown as mag of people. That's
- 55:35Speaker 1: what I got from it, besides other things, But that
- 55:37Speaker 1: was kind of the main point I got. But it's
- 55:39Speaker 1: again very interesting just how that works. Another thing that
- 55:44Speaker 1: I got out of it was just like, damn white people. Wow,
- 55:49Speaker 1: you guys, really, I'll do yourselves every every decade, every decade,
- 55:54Speaker 1: every decade. People that I saw, not to say there
- 55:58Speaker 1: aren't because we've seen some were black folks as part
- 56:01Speaker 1: of the we know some, mac we know some, but
- 56:04Speaker 1: it's just the vast majority.
- 56:08Speaker 3: So okay, so yeah, look them crackers, like you know
- 56:12Speaker 3: what I mean, you got a call?
- 56:13Speaker 2: How you see it?
- 56:15Speaker 1: You're not wrong? Then, I mean so yeah, so the
- 56:18Speaker 1: Anti Social Network, the two Kastrina documentaries, but I mean
- 56:21Speaker 1: mentioned not Robotech but robo Force.
- 56:24Speaker 2: Yes, shot robo Force, not Robotech because right now, the.
- 56:28Speaker 1: Long Walk again, I recommend it, but be careful, but
- 56:32Speaker 1: these are all kind of recommended items.
- 56:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and also Creature Commandos because and I'm loving it.
- 56:40Speaker 3: I got two more episodes. I'm really tight that it
- 56:42Speaker 3: was only seven episodes in the seven I don't.
- 56:45Speaker 1: I don't know if I watch it because it's not
- 56:46Speaker 1: that's not really my I'm not really into that.
- 56:48Speaker 2: But I'm telling you I felt the same way.
- 56:51Speaker 3: That's why I didn't, because it was funny, like I
- 56:52Speaker 3: watched the first episode, because you know, when you go
- 56:54Speaker 3: back to watch something that's like, oh, I'm already on
- 56:56Speaker 3: the second, and I don't remember the first at all.
- 56:58Speaker 3: But I was like, fuck it, I'm already on the second.
- 57:00Speaker 3: I'm going to the second. I'm not going back.
- 57:02Speaker 1: You know, you didn't remember the first.
- 57:03Speaker 2: And what was you doing ignoring it? You know what
- 57:07Speaker 2: I mean? Probably working on beats. That's that's what it
- 57:09Speaker 2: usually happened.
- 57:10Speaker 3: I'll started watching something and I'll start working on music,
- 57:12Speaker 3: and it's just like it'll become background noise. So yeah,
- 57:16Speaker 3: I did not remember the first episode, but by the
- 57:18Speaker 3: end of the second I was like, damn, I kind
- 57:19Speaker 3: of need to go back and watch the first. I
- 57:21Speaker 3: really enjoyed it, like it's it's James gun that's the thing.
- 57:25Speaker 3: It's and he knows how to tell a story. He
- 57:28Speaker 3: knows how to pull heartstrings. There's one episode with the
- 57:30Speaker 3: Weasel from Suicide Squad. If you saw the one with
- 57:33Speaker 3: Ris Elba, well, wesel is a character who did not talk.
- 57:37Speaker 2: He he yeah, so you know the man.
- 57:40Speaker 3: Yeah, that episode that centers on the Weasel is one
- 57:43Speaker 3: of the most heart pulling, like fucked up At the end,
- 57:47Speaker 3: I'm sitting there like, damn, that fucked up what they
- 57:50Speaker 3: did to that day, you know what I mean?
- 57:51Speaker 2: It is like that, like he knows how to do it.
- 57:54Speaker 2: This is pure James Gunn.
- 57:55Speaker 3: This is like, you know, Guardians of the Galaxy punching
- 57:59Speaker 3: you in the chest type James Dunn. So if you
- 58:02Speaker 3: like that shit. I would definitely Poppins. Yeah, yeah, yes,
- 58:06Speaker 3: this is that. This is fucking Mary Poppins, every damn episode.
- 58:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:12Speaker 3: The Bride of Frankenstein episode was like that. The Weeza
- 58:15Speaker 3: episode is like that, Gi Robots whatever, I'm I think
- 58:19Speaker 3: I'm on the dude who's like a flaming skull. I
- 58:22Speaker 3: don't know his name, but yeah, the bride episode and
- 58:26Speaker 3: the running story of the Bride and the real Frank
- 58:29Speaker 3: is time. I can't wait to see how that ends,
- 58:31Speaker 3: because that shit is wild. And they got, like I said,
- 58:34Speaker 3: two more episodes. But we do have, you know, some
- 58:38Speaker 3: other things, some wak coming in asked questions.
- 58:46Speaker 1: Yes, please make sure you guys every week we want
- 58:49Speaker 1: your questions, keep them coming. It could be about anything.
- 58:52Speaker 1: Could be about the things we've just talked about. It
- 58:53Speaker 1: could be about the clips you see from our socials.
- 58:56Speaker 1: It could be a question from your own life that
- 58:58Speaker 1: you want us to answer. Like, whatever it is, definitely
- 59:01Speaker 1: hit us up. We're gonna put be putting Pulse up
- 59:03Speaker 1: every week where you can ask your questions or you
- 59:05Speaker 1: can email us if you want a little bit more privacy.
- 59:07Speaker 1: I mean, even though we're about to read it out
- 59:08Speaker 1: loud on our podcast, but you can also email us
- 59:12Speaker 1: contact thatforur oal nerds dot com.
- 59:14Speaker 2: Yeah, if you just want us to answer question and
- 59:16Speaker 2: you don't want it on the show, hit us up,
- 59:18Speaker 2: you know what I mean?
- 59:19Speaker 1: Yeah, and tell us that, like, hey, I don't want
- 59:22Speaker 1: you to talk about this, let us know. But otherwise, yeah,
- 59:26Speaker 1: just put it on the socials. Like again, you'll have
- 59:28Speaker 1: spaces we put on TikTok ig, proply Twitter.
- 59:31Speaker 2: You'll definitely be seeing these a lot more.
- 59:33Speaker 3: We're gonna make sure we start flooding you know, these
- 59:35Speaker 3: socials first of what we got, So the.
- 59:38Speaker 1: First comes on our very own Engineer Extraordinaire Luna. Luna
- 59:43Speaker 1: Rights Ben spoke before about the DCU having tonal differences
- 59:47Speaker 1: when it comes to Superman Peacemaker. I agree and think
- 59:51Speaker 1: that's going to be a strong point for the films
- 59:53Speaker 1: and shows moving forward. My question is what kind of
- 59:56Speaker 1: tone would you like to see for the upcoming Green
- 59:57Speaker 1: Lantern series on HBO.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Dad is a great question, Luna, And it's funny because
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: somebody made this point on a comment session a few
- 1:00:07Speaker 3: weeks ago and I was like, ooh, and it really
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: made me hype for the show because it's not called
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: Green Lanterns. The show is called Lanterns and that when
- 1:00:17Speaker 3: somebody made that point, I'm like, oh, and then they
- 1:00:20Speaker 3: had there's a video of Nathan Fillion, right because he
- 1:00:23Speaker 3: plays yeah, he's playing Hal.
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: Jordan, and he's still Guy Gardner.
- 1:00:31Speaker 2: Guy Gardner who's playing How Jordan in them?
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: How Jordan is Kyle Chandler.
- 1:00:35Speaker 2: Kyle Chandler, Yeah, the other he's a great actor and
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: my fave.
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: He's John Stewart.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he's Jon Stewart. And so again it's Lanterns, right,
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: and you have Kyle Chandler, who's an older actor and
- 1:00:52Speaker 3: airpier new hotness. So it's probably you know, how Jordans
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: Now How Jordan does a lot of different things in
- 1:00:58Speaker 3: the commons. So we'll see how it goes. But back
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: to the name Lanterns and Kyle Channer, there's a video
- 1:01:04Speaker 3: of him talking or it might have been Nathan Filling.
- 1:01:06Speaker 3: I think it wasn't Nathan who's in Nathan is also
- 1:01:09Speaker 3: in it, yep. And there's a video of Nathan talking
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: about all the different colors of the lanterns and naming
- 1:01:17Speaker 3: them and being like, Okay, orange is about greed, Blue
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: is about hope.
- 1:01:22Speaker 2: This is about that and knowing all about it. So
- 1:01:24Speaker 2: just the fact that, I mean, you know he's a geek,
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: but we also know Gun is geek. We know everyone
- 1:01:30Speaker 2: involved in the geek they're gonna pull on the lore.
- 1:01:32Speaker 2: So I think we're gonna see a lot of different
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: shades of Lanterns instead of just green. But as far
- 1:01:38Speaker 2: as tone, i've heard stories of like or you know
- 1:01:42Speaker 2: a lot of people talk about True Detective. That's one
- 1:01:44Speaker 2: of the references that they've been given for this, which
- 1:01:48Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: True Detective might be a little too dark for what
- 1:01:52Speaker 3: I want to see from Lanterns.
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: I mean, I want to see like you think about Superman, right,
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: like minus the scenes with soups, where again it was
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: more lighthearted and goofy when it was just centered on
- 1:02:07Speaker 1: the Justice Gang or whatever they called like that tone
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: where it was just like it was adult but there
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: were some funny shit happening, but not like goofy funny.
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: It was just like smart humor and sharp, like kind
- 1:02:23Speaker 1: of that sharp comedy that's smart. There's action and maybe
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: a little bit of drama. I would like that probably
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: to be the tone of this. And again because it's
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: about the lantern core. So there's a lot of different
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: people in different personalities. And also like I can't see
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: Nate's how how how like being warded down from what
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: you saw in Superman, So I like and what he
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: was in Superman is the nigga just like was cracking
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: on everybody. So I just I can't see them like
- 1:02:57Speaker 1: stopping that from happening again.
- 1:02:59Speaker 2: So I don't know, I better see.
- 1:03:01Speaker 3: I think it should be a thing, and I think
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: this is yeah, and I think this is what gunned
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: the balancing that I think that's gonna be. Like how
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: when you saw in She Hulk, when we saw Daredevil
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: show up in Sea Hulk where she hop was a
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: completely different series than what you know, the dar level series.
- 1:03:19Speaker 2: Yeah, and he reacted and acted in that way. It worked,
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: you know, he worked in that way, And.
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: I think that's how it should be, Like Guard Garner
- 1:03:27Speaker 3: should be, I think, not toned down, but I think
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: when he encounters it because if they do do and
- 1:03:33Speaker 3: I think they are because you remember, it should be
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: an hour long series on HBO Max. So I don't
- 1:03:37Speaker 3: think they're gonna go for like the comedy even like
- 1:03:40Speaker 3: the version of I think they're gonna really it's gould
- 1:03:43Speaker 3: be totally different than what we saw from even the
- 1:03:45Speaker 3: Justice Ding. I think it's could be because it's gonna
- 1:03:48Speaker 3: be on Earth from a lot of it. I don't
- 1:03:50Speaker 3: think they're gonna get into space maybe like parts of it.
- 1:03:52Speaker 3: But the first shot that they released is of how
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: and John walking down the road and the thing.
- 1:04:00Speaker 1: I just don't want it to be two almost street level,
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: because I'm like, yeah, because you have the rings. That's
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: my point. You ye still got these fucking rings, and
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: you know, I don't want it to be fucking hot
- 1:04:12Speaker 1: wheels car track like you know, Ryan Reynolds. But I
- 1:04:14Speaker 1: also don't want it to be like a prosue dual
- 1:04:17Speaker 1: drama with lanterns, like I don't know if that would
- 1:04:20Speaker 1: work either.
- 1:04:21Speaker 3: Well, we'll see, but I do say one of my
- 1:04:23Speaker 3: favorite Green Lantern series from back on the Day was
- 1:04:25Speaker 3: when he was he wasn't in the court at the time,
- 1:04:28Speaker 3: and how it's just like riding across America on a bike.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: Now he like the lead up to him joining the chorus,
- 1:04:34Speaker 1: he already no, he.
- 1:04:35Speaker 3: Got kicked out of the court at this point. I
- 1:04:37Speaker 3: think the corp would dissolve one or the others. So
- 1:04:39Speaker 3: he was just like on Earth and he had the ring,
- 1:04:41Speaker 3: but he was just driving around.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: He didn't really wear the suit. He didn't want people
- 1:04:44Speaker 2: to know these green Lander but he ended up doing
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: stuff with But it was a really dope series. I
- 1:04:48Speaker 2: really love that series.
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I think that was the first Green Lantern series that
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: I read, so it, you know, has that installedial thing too,
- 1:04:54Speaker 3: But it was just really nice. And he did use
- 1:04:57Speaker 3: the ring a lot, you know, So I think that's
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: gonna be the out anywhere. You won't always see them
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: in the suits, but you'll see them using the ringing
- 1:05:04Speaker 3: when they need to.
- 1:05:05Speaker 1: As long as I see the rings being used, I'm
- 1:05:07Speaker 1: with it.
- 1:05:07Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you're gonna have to.
- 1:05:10Speaker 1: It's gonna be great. I feel like it's gonna be great.
- 1:05:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I really do have a faith.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: Yeah, after like I said, after really examining what they
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: did with Superman, with Peacemaker and with.
- 1:05:22Speaker 2: Creature Commandos, I have it's just like, nah, man, I
- 1:05:26Speaker 2: really I'm so it hurts because I want to be
- 1:05:29Speaker 2: dis excited for like the X Men coming to the NCU,
- 1:05:32Speaker 2: because this is the type of ship that the X
- 1:05:34Speaker 2: Men should bring it.
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: Though I'm not I'm not seven.
- 1:05:39Speaker 2: But yeah, but that's what I'm saying.
- 1:05:40Speaker 3: It's like X Men right now, they should be like, Okay,
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: we have, you know, an X Men movie coming out,
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: and then we've got a fucking Rogue TV series, you know,
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: or a kro Cola TV series, and then we've got
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: a new Mutant's TV series, and that's how it should
- 1:05:55Speaker 3: be doing. And not doing that, there's like, we got
- 1:05:58Speaker 3: one movie that's directed by the dude who did some
- 1:05:59Speaker 3: book shit. I'm sorry, you know, it's directed by this
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: white guy who's done a bunch of average stuff and
- 1:06:05Speaker 3: I can't trust that. So I can't trust that. It's
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: just yeah, while like over here it's like James Johon's like, oh,
- 1:06:11Speaker 3: I got this director and you know, he brought me
- 1:06:13Speaker 3: a version because he said that he wasn't even thinking
- 1:06:15Speaker 3: about doing a play Face movie until the director was like, oh,
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: I have this idea in this scrip.
- 1:06:20Speaker 2: Check this out. And he was like, Yo, this is
- 1:06:21Speaker 2: so ill, we gotta do it.
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: I wouldn't think clay Face would be the first person
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: you go to, but.
- 1:06:26Speaker 3: Yeah, and there so, and he's like, but it was
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: an ill body horror type thing where it's like, you know,
- 1:06:30Speaker 3: it's gloring what it means to be playfaced, right, And
- 1:06:33Speaker 3: I'm like, that's dope, you know, and I want to
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: see that. And then it's and it has nothing to
- 1:06:37Speaker 3: do with Superman, but that's fire. I don't need it,
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: you know. And that's that's one problem a Marvel because
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: of the whole Infinity saga day, like now everything must
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: link into a big you know, and that we were
- 1:06:47Speaker 3: talking about doomsday and it's like that's why I'm not
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: excited for Doomsday, Like I don't know that there's.
- 1:06:52Speaker 2: Going to be some big, dark sided you know, villain
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: in DC, and I don't care.
- 1:06:57Speaker 3: I just want to see dope movies and that's what's
- 1:06:58Speaker 3: happening right now and dope shows, you know.
- 1:07:01Speaker 2: And it's like I think Marvel needs.
- 1:07:03Speaker 3: To get back to that, and I think that would
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: be there road with X Men, because it's like X
- 1:07:06Speaker 3: Men doesn't need a big movie, it just needs you know,
- 1:07:09Speaker 3: you can do a gamer Throne series with X Men.
- 1:07:11Speaker 2: But god damn it, it's.
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: Like it's right there, Sue. I sound like this is
- 1:07:19Speaker 1: literally the inverse of what it was again fifteen years ago,
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: where I'm just like, oh my god, the DC is
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: pissing me off. Why are they doing this? It's literally yes,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: it's it's spin flips.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: It's so it's so interesting it is. And now it's
- 1:07:34Speaker 2: like I see because I was like.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: I'm a peripheral DC fan, but I also dude, like
- 1:07:39Speaker 3: Marvel used had a book Marvel Universe where they had
- 1:07:42Speaker 3: like catalog the characters, and DC had DC's Who's Who,
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: and I would read both of those, and especially I
- 1:07:48Speaker 3: would read Who's Who because I didn't know most of
- 1:07:50Speaker 3: those characters. So I have like this encyclopedia knowledge of
- 1:07:54Speaker 3: just you know, facts about DC characters and random DC characters.
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: You know, I might have never read a book with them,
- 1:08:00Speaker 3: but I know all these and because of it, I'm
- 1:08:04Speaker 3: really excited because it's like, I know how wild and
- 1:08:07Speaker 3: weird and interesting all these DC characters are. And because
- 1:08:10Speaker 3: it's not the X minut stuff, it's stuff we haven't
- 1:08:13Speaker 3: really seen that much at the New Gods, who I know,
- 1:08:16Speaker 3: Ava Duvene was trying to do something with a few
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: years ago, but the New Gods are really dope characters,
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: you know, it's so many. I mean, Metamorpho was one
- 1:08:24Speaker 3: of those characters where I was like, yeah, that's you
- 1:08:27Speaker 3: know that's a really ill character. And now he's been
- 1:08:29Speaker 3: on screening the Supergirl like that Supergirl grapha novel I'll
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: tell everyone Supergirl, Woman of Tomorrow. I think it is
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: by Tom King. It is what the new book is
- 1:08:39Speaker 3: based on. Go check it out, y'all, like, go pick
- 1:08:42Speaker 3: it up. They put it back in print. It is
- 1:08:45Speaker 3: incredible and it will get you so hyph for this movie.
- 1:08:49Speaker 2: Yeah, the god Tom King, So you know God, yep.
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: The next The last question comes from Ja or J.
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: Sorry if I missed A or just Jay.
- 1:09:06Speaker 2: It might be either one.
- 1:09:08Speaker 1: They right, I watched the last episode, so I know
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: genre is not really real. But what is y'all's favorite
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: era and genre of music? Minus nineties?
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Dancel always a classic nineties and early two thousands to
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: mid two thousands. There was a lot of crack cocaine
- 1:09:25Speaker 3: in those producer studios in Jamaica. Because those rhythms are eternal,
- 1:09:31Speaker 3: boy like, those are some of the greatest beats ever
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: committed to Wax.
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: I don't know if I have a favorite genre because
- 1:09:39Speaker 1: I really sick across the spectrum of sound. Right. I
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: love I love rap, hip hop, I love R and B,
- 1:09:48Speaker 1: I love E, D M, I love, you know, could
- 1:09:52Speaker 1: be drum and bass, like I you know, the subs,
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: the sub the sub categories of the genres right instruments,
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: like I like and appreciate all of these different things.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: I can't also can't say favorite error per se, but
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I could say era that stirs the most nostalgia, and
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: that would be like the two thousands of the crunk era,
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: because that was when I was coming up in school
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: and that was like that was the formidable time of
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you know, like like we I always say, we always
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: make a joke about like people in my age, like
- 1:10:26Speaker 1: we were the original y ns, Like we was the
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: ones going to the clubs, tearing it up, you know,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: you know, listen to Bone Crusher and all this other
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: stuff like that was my time. So and just in
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: terms of that idea, I would just say that error
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: because it was just like people was dancing in the clubs. Okay,
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: we was wearing business casules, sweating that shit out right,
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: We was, We was living. And not to say that
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: that's not happening now because like there is a resurgence
- 1:10:55Speaker 1: of that energy about like actually having fun with other people,
- 1:10:59Speaker 1: dancing with other people, just being alive versus staring at
- 1:11:02Speaker 1: each other. That's reseurging. But again just just as far
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: as the thing that probably just stokes the most great
- 1:11:09Speaker 1: memories was probably that that crunk era. But you know,
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: I I I really appreciate like the entire their entire thing,
- 1:11:17Speaker 1: especially stuff now, like I really like the New Kids now.
- 1:11:20Speaker 2: So yeah, I'm the.
- 1:11:22Speaker 3: Same way I went and as a DJ, because I've
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: been DJing through all these eras, Like it's you know,
- 1:11:29Speaker 3: like I love that era you were talking about because
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: that's like, you know, when you talk about nostalgia that
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: brings people back to love and dream nightclub and it's like,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: those are some of my formative years as a DJ,
- 1:11:39Speaker 3: and just some of the greatest times of my life
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: for that matter.
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: So I mean like scenes like people don't know what
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: that like. Like a lot of the gen z they like,
- 1:11:47Speaker 1: what was it like in the club in two thousand
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: and I wasn't yet in the clubs, but I was
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: in the clubs by the time I got the Howard,
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: I was in the clubs. The crunk era was like
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: cooling off a little bit, but it was still it
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: was still fairly strong, and to see one song shift
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: the entire crowded ass club where it could be Elbow's
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: getting throwed. You understand, like like to see the power
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: of the song in motion and bodies on the floor
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: and whether that was you know, you know you talk
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: about back that ass up or you're talking about again.
- 1:12:22Speaker 1: I mentioned like fucking three six, Mafia eight Ball and
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: MJG type shit like going crazy and that was a
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: great era.
- 1:12:31Speaker 3: But I think about like people like when like I
- 1:12:35Speaker 3: actually got people you know, mad at me today because
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: I posted a video of me playing can We Talk
- 1:12:40Speaker 3: and was like, yo, you know, shut up about stop
- 1:12:42Speaker 3: playing Tevin Campbell's Can't We Talk?
- 1:12:43Speaker 2: Yes every time?
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: That's the hood classic. That's that's that's an African American classic.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: Why would you stop playing?
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: To that point, I was saying, it would be so
- 1:12:52Speaker 3: hard for you, Like when you asked about what it
- 1:12:54Speaker 3: was like in the club, people don't understand how it
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: was when let's say the Benjamin's was out, or when
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: in the club was out, or when put your hands
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: from my eyes and she was out. Like I literally
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: was in the club at one point and saw DJ
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: S and S play Benjamin's about twenty times in a
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: row and it never lost a moment, you know, like
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: and then and when he stopped playing it, I swear
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: to God, true story.
- 1:13:24Speaker 2: I turned my boy. I was like, Yo, this ain't
- 1:13:27Speaker 2: gonna be good, and fight broke out to see a
- 1:13:35Speaker 2: song we played twenty times in a row and they
- 1:13:38Speaker 2: still have.
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: The same effect. To see people go fearal over certain
- 1:13:41Speaker 1: songs was incredible to watch it just again. That's why
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I like that era. And I guess, I guess maybe
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: that ends up it is going to end up being
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: my favorite. But like that, that time was was insane.
- 1:13:51Speaker 2: I mean, anytime before people had phones was really you know,
- 1:13:55Speaker 2: because it was just it was just a different thing.
- 1:13:57Speaker 2: In love.
- 1:13:58Speaker 1: The phone is the way we are because I had
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: a phone, but.
- 1:14:00Speaker 2: You know the way they are now. Like I mean,
- 1:14:02Speaker 2: I remember when like.
- 1:14:05Speaker 3: This is inauguration, I shot the video it's famous footage
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: of Gez and jay Z performing My President is Black,
- 1:14:14Speaker 3: And I shot that footage. If you ever google it
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: and see it, that was me shooting that footage and
- 1:14:18Speaker 3: so camera shot from behind them up above.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: And it was just the.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Fact that back then, even if you had a phone,
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: they didn't have a fucking camera on it like that.
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: And I actually had a real camera. So and I
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: was one of the few people in the club that
- 1:14:31Speaker 3: night who had a real camera. And nowadays every motherfuck
- 1:14:35Speaker 3: in the world would have the camera.
- 1:14:36Speaker 1: So you did have a camera. It was that two
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: megapixel ship that.
- 1:14:41Speaker 2: They couldn't do nothing with it.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: And I had a real handheld h VHSC I think
- 1:14:46Speaker 3: doing with you know, cartridges and tapes and so that
- 1:14:50Speaker 3: ship shot that footage and that you know, that's why
- 1:14:52Speaker 3: I have it.
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: But that that's what I'm saying, that type of error.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: It was like all the way up to like I
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: remember that Homecoming when we Fly High came out.
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: Oh my god, yeah, oh dipset, I'm being from New York.
- 1:15:08Speaker 1: That's my like again when I talk about going Pharaoh,
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: when you hear certain songs.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: To this day, like I was at Howard when Cam
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: got shot, you know what I mean Like that, Yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:20Speaker 2: like that, Like yeah, I'm I'm like, I just saw
- 1:15:24Speaker 2: Tyler this summer. You know, I thought he was fucking incredible.
- 1:15:27Speaker 1: Tyler, I go crazy.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, I think he's one of my favorite artists ever.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: And so it's like genre said it, like like you said,
- 1:15:34Speaker 3: I'm a you know, I'm a music So it's like
- 1:15:36Speaker 3: I can never choose a genre, Like what was that
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: last year? I think last year I got addicted to
- 1:15:41Speaker 3: John Coltrane and I never and not even protrayed The
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: Loneous Monk even more. And I never really paid that
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: much attention the Loneous like that, and I was reading
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: books on the man. That's how much I was listening
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: to his ship because it was just, you know, I
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: was just like, oh my god, you know, my eyes
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: was open. And then at the same time, I got
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: really into resilient funk, like modern brazilion funk, really straight
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: up hard beats and remixes and a lot.
- 1:16:07Speaker 1: Of that when we were in Brazil this summer.
- 1:16:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yep, so I got into that. And so it's
- 1:16:11Speaker 3: like I'm always listening to different ship. I heard about
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: some new stuff that's coming out of like South Africa.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: I gotta find out, Like that's after I'm a piano,
- 1:16:20Speaker 3: I gotta find out about that, or it's not even
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: South Africa after no, it's like a piano is still
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: South Africa, like another region of Africa is doing their
- 1:16:28Speaker 3: own heavy.
- 1:16:33Speaker 1: Heavy heavy, and and again just to give you guys
- 1:16:38Speaker 1: like context and what I mean, Like I said, I
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: like everything, like you know, went to a Copboy card
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: a concert, went to the Tyler concert, going to the
- 1:16:46Speaker 1: k tr Nada Justice concert, going to see Erica by dude, Like,
- 1:16:51Speaker 1: I'm all over the map when it comes to music,
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: I am. I'm a purveyor and lover of music and
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: good music, good music that hits you and as rhythm
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: and life like that's the shit that I like. The genre.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: I like music, Yeah, No, I mean, like I said
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: on the show, that's it's one of my I'm I'm
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: an anti idea genre. That's why I feel like genre
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: is mainly rude and racism and separatism, and it's two
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: of the things that I cannot stand.
- 1:17:18Speaker 2: And so that's why I.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: Like because all music is Black music, especially all American
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: music is pretty much all major popular American music is
- 1:17:27Speaker 3: black music, and black people pretty much have made blues
- 1:17:31Speaker 3: music with different changes in technology, et cetera, and genre
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: as most like artists say, like Miles David says, I
- 1:17:38Speaker 3: don't make jazz I mad pop music because it's very
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: popular music. What he would say, you know, Michael Jackson
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: said the same thing, and he's like, don't separate me
- 1:17:46Speaker 3: by putting me into these categories that you reserve for
- 1:17:49Speaker 3: urban artists, but that's all jazz is always like these
- 1:17:52Speaker 3: niggas are making jazz, urban nip hop, you know, and
- 1:17:56Speaker 3: so it's like, no, nigga, we are making music, and
- 1:17:59Speaker 3: we're making the most popular music and we're making the
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: backbone of American music. So I'm never a person, you know,
- 1:18:05Speaker 3: I'm always into exploring.
- 1:18:08Speaker 2: The buddy guy.
- 1:18:08Speaker 3: For everybody who saw Centers that nigga dropped a new album,
- 1:18:12Speaker 3: It's firefam. That ship is fucking slamm and I'm jamming
- 1:18:16Speaker 3: that shit a free weeks ago when it dropped. That
- 1:18:18Speaker 3: shit is fire and Juicy Jay's fucking jazz album is it?
- 1:18:23Speaker 2: Oh yeah, what nigga taking my kids to school?
- 1:18:27Speaker 3: That ship is a jam. That's what drests on there,
- 1:18:30Speaker 3: taking my kids to school.
- 1:18:32Speaker 2: It is a full blown funky ass jazz album like
- 1:18:36Speaker 2: it is.
- 1:18:36Speaker 1: Yeah, because I'm interested in watching like all of like
- 1:18:38Speaker 1: these well, in my in my view, older school, old
- 1:18:41Speaker 1: school coming with a new quote genre.
- 1:18:45Speaker 2: That shit was mind blowing.
- 1:18:46Speaker 1: I tried Andre's three thousand Flu album and I wasn't
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: really I trieded, y'all, and like, I'm very open minded,
- 1:18:55Speaker 1: and they didn't do it for me. So that's why
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: I was like, I was a little nervous about Juicy Jaw.
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: No, that shit is jamming. Taking my kids to school
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: as a jam. There's a couple on there that are
- 1:19:06Speaker 3: like and they're just straight instrumental. He raps on a
- 1:19:09Speaker 3: couple of black thought raps on some on one, but
- 1:19:12Speaker 3: a lot of it is instrumental.
- 1:19:13Speaker 2: Like I said, taking my kids schools, that's my jam,
- 1:19:17Speaker 2: you know what I mean? That is a jam where
- 1:19:18Speaker 2: I'm like, okay, but you know, it's like that saying.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: I've always people underestimate how talented a lot of these
- 1:19:26Speaker 2: people are, you know, like Juicy j. Like I always
- 1:19:29Speaker 2: talk about shot G.
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: You know, it's just one of the most genius hip
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: hop producers and also played mad instruments.
- 1:19:36Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:19:37Speaker 3: Flavor Flav, who people think of as this clown, is
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: a classically trained pianist, can pick up pretty much any.
- 1:19:44Speaker 1: Instrument you can name.
- 1:19:46Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, he can pick up any instrument you can
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: name and play it pretty well.
- 1:19:51Speaker 2: You know.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: It's so many people like that. DJ Quick is an
- 1:19:54Speaker 3: absolute genius, you know, instrumentalist all this stuff. DJ Quick
- 1:19:58Speaker 3: has been having instrumental jam on every one of his
- 1:20:01Speaker 3: albums going back to the very first one, and they're
- 1:20:03Speaker 3: always like bangers. So it's like people don't realize how talented,
- 1:20:07Speaker 3: and that's the thing because they get put in these boxes.
- 1:20:10Speaker 3: Starface for years wanted to do a rock and rap
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: and funk album because he plays Gutari plays based on
- 1:20:16Speaker 3: all that type of shit. But he was always like
- 1:20:19Speaker 3: people wouldn't accept it, you know, they won't let me
- 1:20:22Speaker 3: do anything but rap albums, and that was always a
- 1:20:25Speaker 3: big problem. So, like you said, it's really great that
- 1:20:27Speaker 3: now people like Juicy J. I heard Boosey got a
- 1:20:29Speaker 3: country album or a blues album and they say it's
- 1:20:33Speaker 3: pretty good.
- 1:20:33Speaker 2: I know, I was same thing.
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: But my man's like Juicy J's last four projects have
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: all been fired and they're all different, like because he
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: did the jazz and then earlier this year he dropped
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: like a plastic Juicy J album, but then like last
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: year or two years ago, he dropped like a real
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: hip hop Juicy J album, you know, like very different
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: than his normal stuff. So he's been doing all kinds
- 1:20:54Speaker 3: of stuff. So it's really dope to see.
- 1:20:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I like ww artists do that, and like he's
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: more of a new artist. But big ext the plug.
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: Like his new album is her country Altuts. I heard,
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: but it's all country. Yeah, he has crazy features on it.
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: So great album. I know, like we're like all off
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: topic now, but like also Tiana Taylor's album, Gee's Sauce,
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: it is so good. Geauce is so like I'm so
- 1:21:23Speaker 1: happy that she was able to come back to music.
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: You know, she's famously you know, retired from it a
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: few years ago because of the industry and all the
- 1:21:30Speaker 1: other stuff.
- 1:21:31Speaker 2: But man, all right, I'm gonna definitely keep that then. No,
- 1:21:35Speaker 2: like man Earl sweatshirts, new one was not hitting me
- 1:21:39Speaker 2: like that. I tried.
- 1:21:41Speaker 3: I tried, really, I mean that niggas be rapping, you know,
- 1:21:44Speaker 3: just like Blad but blaad and the beats were just
- 1:21:46Speaker 3: like not there. Yeah, I heard Chance is good, but
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: the Chance yet I don't like the singles. But I
- 1:21:52Speaker 3: heard the album is good, but the school and the
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: other one was cool. But if you were like notice
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: and I'm a you know, coloring book acid wrap, those
- 1:22:01Speaker 3: are my jams, So I want to give it a chance. Yeah,
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: because I've heard, but I didn't like them singles.
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: Whatever.
- 1:22:09Speaker 1: One more thing you wanted to mention about your new show.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: With Oh yeah, Yeah, we're dropping a new episode next week.
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: Thank you to everybody who keeped the first episode. We're
- 1:22:19Speaker 3: basically doing me and BJ Kicks, who is the founder, owner, creator,
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: content creator or over at Comics Are Dope. If you're
- 1:22:28Speaker 3: not following them on YouTube, head over to their page
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: and make sure you hit that subspribe. BJ does a
- 1:22:32Speaker 3: lot of great work reviewing comics all the time, and
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: so BJ and I teamed up. It's Ben and BJ
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: and we're doing We still have not figured out a
- 1:22:41Speaker 3: name or other Comics are Dope?
- 1:22:43Speaker 2: What is it? Comics I copped are Dope? Something?
- 1:22:45Speaker 3: I don't know, because basically a collaboration where comics I
- 1:22:48Speaker 3: copped and Comics Are Dope, where every month we're coming
- 1:22:51Speaker 3: together and talk about all of our favorite comics from
- 1:22:54Speaker 3: that month, and we.
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: Dropped dope comics I copped, Yeah.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: Something, I think that's what you said, Yeah, dope comic
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: I copped. So yeah, So we'll figure out a name.
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: But every month for dropping an episode, we dropped one
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: what is it? And we dropped our favorites of July
- 1:23:11Speaker 3: And we're a little behind this month, but early September
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: we'll be dropping our favorites of August. A lot of
- 1:23:16Speaker 3: good stuff came out in August.
- 1:23:17Speaker 2: I was really hype.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: I can't wait to record this because I really want
- 1:23:20Speaker 3: to talk about it. No secret surprises on what's coming,
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: but yeah, definitely got some more things coming on that cool.
- 1:23:29Speaker 3: And I want to do a quick announcement because I'm
- 1:23:32Speaker 3: going to drop a video on this. But it is
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: September third today, and well one happy birthday to my
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: niece new Aria.
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: Love you very much, you know I love you New New.
- 1:23:41Speaker 3: And then also a week or so ago, it has
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: been one year since the release of Jimmy Hendrix Purple Haze.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: Yeah nominated, nominated edition.
- 1:23:59Speaker 2: Real quick, there we go, yep.
- 1:24:05Speaker 3: So yeah, yeah, thank you to everybody.
- 1:24:08Speaker 2: It's been really amazing.
- 1:24:09Speaker 3: I'm about to drop a video on the socials talking
- 1:24:11Speaker 3: about it. It's been an amazing journey. I know it's
- 1:24:14Speaker 3: still going on, but just really thank you to everyone
- 1:24:18Speaker 3: who has supported this book in any way shape form.
- 1:24:21Speaker 3: I got to give a copy to Juno Das last night,
- 1:24:24Speaker 3: so that was a big moment for me.
- 1:24:27Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:24:27Speaker 3: Look at Tatana with double double fisting that hope beautiful.
- 1:24:34Speaker 2: Yes, oh man, it's still very surreal. Honestly, to this
- 1:24:38Speaker 2: day it is so surreal.

- 1:25:19Speaker 2: Yep. And on that note, the other night, I actually

- 1:25:26Speaker 2: first issue of what would be a sequel to Hendrix.
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: So yeah, you and Mellow back at it again.
- 1:25:34Speaker 2: Well, I actually wrote this.
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: I put together this outline on my own because this
- 1:25:38Speaker 3: it might not end up being an official sequel to Hendrix.
- 1:25:41Speaker 2: We'll see.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: You know, Titan publisher wants to get it together. But
- 1:25:43Speaker 3: if not, you know, it'll be a you know it'll
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: be it'll be some good quest. Yeah, it'll be a
- 1:25:48Speaker 3: side quest hit starter. Yeah, and it'll feature some characters
- 1:25:52Speaker 3: from Hindricks.
- 1:25:53Speaker 2: You know. That's all I can say so far. But yeah,
- 1:25:55Speaker 2: it's spin off, a spin off.
- 1:25:56Speaker 3: Yes, look at you building a universe, a quasi legal spinoff.
