- 0:00Speaker 1: Hi, it's Brook Shields.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Brooks Shields is joining us live on air.
- 0:06Speaker 3: Hello, Hello, Hello, Hi.
- 0:10Speaker 4: Thank you for coming on. You've got a brand new
- 0:12Speaker 4: crime drama. You're killing me. It's coming out on stan.
- 0:15Speaker 4: True crime is just huge women in particular or obsessed.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Brook Do you.
- 0:21Speaker 5: Feel I think it's a genre that people have loved
- 0:25Speaker 5: from murder, she wrote, and only murders in the building.
- 0:29Speaker 5: You know, that's sort of that genre where it's easy
- 0:33Speaker 5: to watch, it's not too gory. There's a you know,
- 0:36Speaker 5: maybe a guy falls out of a closet with a knife.
- 0:38Speaker 1: In his back, but there's no blood.
- 0:39Speaker 5: Like it's that old school, almost Dagatha Christie. But to
- 0:44Speaker 5: have two females at the helm, two different generations.
- 0:48Speaker 1: I think women are.
- 0:49Speaker 5: Responding to that because it's you know, my characters made
- 0:52Speaker 5: fun of a lot, like my daughters do every day.
- 0:56Speaker 5: So I think it's just I think it's appealing, it's entertainment.
- 1:01Speaker 1: It's a bit of escapism.
- 1:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:03Speaker 4: Do you love investigations in your own life, like trying
- 1:07Speaker 4: to figure things out?
- 1:08Speaker 3: I feel like.
- 1:09Speaker 6: Women are like inheritently detectives undercover.
- 1:13Speaker 3: Why we've all got to do I kind of have
- 1:15Speaker 3: to be yeah, I have to.
- 1:17Speaker 5: I think it has something to do with like, if
- 1:20Speaker 5: you can bear our children, you kind of also have
- 1:23Speaker 5: to be a detective. Yes, because yes, and if you're
- 1:27Speaker 5: if you happen to be a partnered you have to
- 1:29Speaker 5: be a detective because I got to read what they're saying,
- 1:33Speaker 5: because they don't often say what they mean.
- 1:35Speaker 1: So I think it is inherent. I do think.
- 1:38Speaker 5: I'm my character, but also me as a person. I'm
- 1:41Speaker 5: better with motive and story and why and what's happening
- 1:46Speaker 5: in that person's life, whereas Andy, my partner and the
- 1:50Speaker 5: younger generation is really good with forensics, and I find like,
- 1:54Speaker 5: I find that that's what I am in life too,
- 1:57Speaker 5: Like I'm it's.
- 1:58Speaker 1: Like, well, no, why would you do that? You know, Yeah,
- 2:01Speaker 1: it's fun to play.
- 2:02Speaker 6: I have a girlfriend and I find this crazy, But
- 2:05Speaker 6: she listens to these.
- 2:07Speaker 3: Horrific true crime podcasts to put herself to sleep. Do
- 2:13Speaker 3: you get into true crime? Like do you listen to
- 2:15Speaker 3: podcasts and stuff like that because.
- 2:16Speaker 5: They're all No, I don't because they're all going to
- 2:19Speaker 5: be under my bed raped by the ale. When I
- 2:23Speaker 5: get in bed and I sat my arm, you're going
- 2:25Speaker 5: to grab me myself and that's the.
- 2:27Speaker 1: End of me.
- 2:28Speaker 3: That's exactly right.
- 2:29Speaker 5: Minute I give my attention to it and give its energy,
- 2:32Speaker 5: it's going to find me.
- 2:34Speaker 4: Now, Brooke, are you being in the industry for fifty
- 2:37Speaker 4: years now? Oh now, yeah, well yeah, sixty sixty on
- 2:43Speaker 4: your sixty one?
- 2:44Speaker 2: So when what were you doing commercials and stuff as
- 2:47Speaker 2: a baby? I was?
- 2:48Speaker 1: I was the Iriso baby when I was eleven.
- 2:52Speaker 2: And look, I can't rock the diaper.
- 2:55Speaker 4: I can't have you on Brook without admitting The Blue
- 2:58Speaker 4: Lagoon when I was a teenager was u It was
- 3:01Speaker 4: that a movie for me?
- 3:02Speaker 3: You know what I mean?
- 3:04Speaker 5: It depends like some people say it was for me,
- 3:08Speaker 5: some people say it was for the boy.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Well it was. You had a poster of Brook on
- 3:14Speaker 3: you on your bedroom wall.
- 3:16Speaker 2: And I watched The Blue Lagoon.
- 3:19Speaker 1: It's all an Australian crew, Fiji all assies.
- 3:24Speaker 4: It's actually, apart from me being a teenager, it's a
- 3:26Speaker 4: very good movie. Do you go back and watch some
- 3:29Speaker 4: of the stuff that you've done? Do your kids watch
- 3:31Speaker 4: your work? Or do you just go no, never watching again?
- 3:35Speaker 1: No, no, no, no nothing.
- 3:37Speaker 5: The only thing I sort of make my kids watch
- 3:41Speaker 5: is like suddenly Susan Okay, I don't have it on
- 3:44Speaker 5: a loop in my house. Yeah, but I've been like,
- 3:47Speaker 5: you're gonna sit down, you're gonna watch this.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Mom was funny, So they appreciate now.
- 3:52Speaker 5: But what's interesting is, without my asking, they both watched
- 3:57Speaker 5: You're Killing Me, Like they both watched it out me
- 4:00Speaker 5: saying you have to watch your mother.
- 4:02Speaker 1: So that was and they were like, well, I'm you're funny.
- 4:05Speaker 1: It's good.
- 4:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you watch your old stop.
- 4:07Speaker 3: Nobody wants to watch their old stuff back.
- 4:09Speaker 5: Really, when I do something, it's done like move okay,
- 4:13Speaker 5: I don't know, I think. I mean when I have
- 4:17Speaker 5: been on Broadway, which I have been multiple times, the
- 4:25Speaker 5: clips from those shows I will say I will go.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Back and watch just they're such a triumph for me
- 4:33Speaker 1: because it was so physically.
- 4:36Speaker 5: Life altering and difficult to be on Broadway or be
- 4:39Speaker 5: in the West play the West End. And when you
- 4:42Speaker 5: go through something like that and you survive it, to
- 4:45Speaker 5: me that that I'll watch for the rest of the stuff.
- 4:48Speaker 2: We'll watch it for you.
- 4:49Speaker 1: That I'm not going to judge myself anyway.
- 4:51Speaker 4: So yeah, fair enough, all right, Hey mowive Brookes Shields
- 4:54Speaker 4: coming up, hang around plays Brooke and you get out
- 4:57Speaker 4: continues your chance between a thousand bucks, every.
- 5:01Speaker 2: Call on it within ten minutes.
- 5:03Speaker 4: All right, Ariana Grande playing right now and more We
- 5:06Speaker 4: Brookshields next.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Hate it's Brookshields.
- 5:11Speaker 4: Yeah, Hollywood icon. Brook Shields has taken over the show
- 5:15Speaker 4: this morning.
- 5:15Speaker 3: Brook.
- 5:16Speaker 6: You're celebrating your twenty fifth wedding anniversary this year, aren't you.
- 5:21Speaker 1: I told them not to get too comfortable.
- 5:23Speaker 3: Yeah, exactly.
- 5:24Speaker 6: I'm actually celebrating my tenth wedding anniversary, and ten years.
- 5:29Speaker 3: Feels like a lifetime with my husband.
- 5:31Speaker 6: Twenty five years, that's such an achievement, and I just
- 5:34Speaker 6: think I need to know what are the tips? What
- 5:38Speaker 6: do you do to keep the marriage alive and healthy
- 5:40Speaker 6: in all of those things?
- 5:41Speaker 2: Basicially in Hollywood, that's a huge milestone.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Brook, Well, we we live in New York, so we're
- 5:49Speaker 5: not in the Hollywood world in the thing. Yep, We've
- 5:52Speaker 5: never been there. I've never been there. I've always lived
- 5:55Speaker 5: in New York City. So I think that that just
- 5:57Speaker 5: environment has something to do with it. Yeah, I think
- 6:01Speaker 5: it's really hard. I don't think it's and you know,
- 6:05Speaker 5: you forget to talk to the other person, forget you know,
- 6:10Speaker 5: you forget to kiss some Hello, and you come in
- 6:13Speaker 5: from a trip and like you have to remind yourself,
- 6:17Speaker 5: and then you add kids to it. It's you know,
- 6:20Speaker 5: it's really easy to lose sight of the relationship because
- 6:25Speaker 5: it's all about the kids, and the kids go to
- 6:26Speaker 5: college and then you're just left with the person and
- 6:29Speaker 5: you're like, what do we do now. I don't think
- 6:34Speaker 5: there's an I don't think that there's a trick.
- 6:38Speaker 1: I think I mean, I think women and men and.
- 6:43Speaker 5: Relationships grow at different paces, and I think that's the
- 6:47Speaker 5: hardest thing because I'm always trying to grow and learn
- 6:51Speaker 5: and you know, and like I've gone to therapy forever
- 6:54Speaker 5: and my husband's like, how long have you been in
- 6:56Speaker 5: therapy forever?
- 6:58Speaker 1: Like really, where how's that going for you? I'm like,
- 7:00Speaker 1: it's going very well, thank you very much. I'm still
- 7:03Speaker 1: here with you, right.
- 7:04Speaker 6: You don't want to know what I'd be like without it, Yeah, exactly.
- 7:09Speaker 5: But I think it's a it's a source of insecurity
- 7:13Speaker 5: for men to think maybe they you know, they are
- 7:16Speaker 5: a failable Yeah. I think you have to still keep
- 7:20Speaker 5: talking about it, but it is I do not think
- 7:22Speaker 5: it is easy.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 7:23Speaker 6: I remember my mom always saying to me, like obviously
- 7:25Speaker 6: kids are challenging and that's hard work. But the hardest
- 7:29Speaker 6: job you will ever have is your marriage, and it's
- 7:32Speaker 6: something that you constantly have to work at and pour
- 7:36Speaker 6: into and both people need to pour into it as well.
- 7:40Speaker 3: And yeah, don't usey in. I'm very much I'm pouring.
- 7:45Speaker 2: Well, let's see if you can do twenty five like Brook.
- 7:47Speaker 5: But it's true though, because it's very easy to get complacency.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Yeah, you know.
- 7:52Speaker 5: And by the way, the kids are easy because they're difficult,
- 7:57Speaker 5: like you, just you can throw it all into them
- 7:59Speaker 5: and then and all of a sudden, that's an easy distraction.
- 8:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it's just but it's.
- 8:05Speaker 5: It's hard to grow and it's almost like unnatural because
- 8:09Speaker 5: the adrenaline isn't the same and attraction isn't the same.
- 8:13Speaker 5: And so you're like, oh, this is why people break
- 8:15Speaker 5: up because there's a shiny new penny over there, and
- 8:18Speaker 5: why not. Yeah, so I think it's I mean, I
- 8:22Speaker 5: have a long view, which is what I'm holding on to.
- 8:26Speaker 4: Yeah, well we are glad it's still working for your
- 8:28Speaker 4: twenty five years later, and we are really we are
- 8:31Speaker 4: looking forward to your killing me now.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I I'm in New York.
- 8:34Speaker 5: It's like it's like, separate bathrooms.
- 8:37Speaker 2: Are there? We go, there's the tips and bathrooms.
- 8:40Speaker 1: There's the answer there, it is right there.
- 8:42Speaker 3: Separate bathrooms.
- 8:44Speaker 2: All right, you're killing me.
- 8:45Speaker 4: It's going to premiere August seventeen, only on stand. We
- 8:48Speaker 4: are looking forward to watching it all episodes at once.
- 8:51Speaker 4: Will drop by the way, which is great. You're not
- 8:54Speaker 4: making us wait, Brookshields, thank you for coming on.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Thank you so much, thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 8:59Speaker 1: I appreci shade it
