- 0:07Speaker 1: All right, everybody, I'm Dave Rubin. This is the Ruben Report,
- 0:11Speaker 1: and in lieu of a Friday round table extravaganza, I
- 0:14Speaker 1: have legendary director. That's right, I'm calling you a legend,
- 0:18Speaker 1: Deneche Desuza in studio with me, co hosting the show.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Today.
- 0:21Speaker 1: We're going to talk about your new film, which I
- 0:23Speaker 1: watched this morning, which was absolutely fantastic, The Dragon's Prophecy,
- 0:27Speaker 1: and we're going to catch up on the news and
- 0:29Speaker 1: all that stuff. But before we do any of that,
- 0:31Speaker 1: you mentioned to me right before that, right before we
- 0:33Speaker 1: started filming, that you live in Houston. We're here in Miami.
- 0:38Speaker 1: It's a lot of sweat, you feel. Are you HAPPI
- 0:40Speaker 1: or coming to Miami or is this worse? No, it's worse.
- 0:43Speaker 2: Well, it's you know, it's transitioning to fall. So it's
- 0:46Speaker 2: a little milder in Miami. Look, you know the tropical
- 0:50Speaker 2: look of Miami. Can't beat that. We don't have that
- 0:53Speaker 2: in Houston. We have the humidity. But you know, Debbie,
- 0:57Speaker 2: my wife and I we joke. She was born in Venezuela.
- 0:59Speaker 2: I was born in so we grew up in really.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Hotcas So you guys are fine.
- 1:03Speaker 1: So we're fine, good, good, Well, listen, I watched the
- 1:06Speaker 1: film this morning. I was usually I am able to
- 1:10Speaker 1: watch just a short snippet of something before I do
- 1:12Speaker 1: an interview, but I saw your interview with Roseanne Barr
- 1:14Speaker 1: a few days ago, and the way she was talking
- 1:16Speaker 1: about the film, I thought I have to watch the
- 1:18Speaker 1: whole thing, and I watched it this morning.
- 1:19Speaker 3: I mean, it's.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Absolutely, absolutely wonderful. So why don't we first, So we'll
- 1:24Speaker 1: show you a quick shot of the movie poster before
- 1:27Speaker 1: we get into anything. And obviously people are going to
- 1:29Speaker 1: recognize several of those people besides just you on that
- 1:34Speaker 1: on that poster right there, Eric Matexis of course who's
- 1:36Speaker 1: been on the show, and bb net Yaho and my
- 1:38Speaker 1: cuckolbe Etctera, etcetera. And let's show Let's show a quick portion.
- 1:42Speaker 1: This is just a small portion, about a minute of
- 1:44Speaker 1: the trailer. We'll get into that and then we're gonna connect.
- 1:46Speaker 1: I mean, the fact that the movie is coming out
- 1:48Speaker 1: in theaters on Monday, as you mentioned, it'll be streaming
- 1:50Speaker 1: next Thursday. But it is so timely relative to so
- 1:54Speaker 1: many things happening right now, which I don't know if
- 1:56Speaker 1: that was coincidence or happenstance or what. Let's take a
- 1:58Speaker 1: logally trailer and that we'll on the other side.
- 2:00Speaker 4: October seventh was the Devil's hobbit.
- 2:07Speaker 2: It's very hard to believe what happened, even though I
- 2:09Speaker 2: was there and seeing with my own eyes and seeing
- 2:11Speaker 2: them laughing and killing and having fun with it.
- 2:15Speaker 4: Because if you don't open the door, they are going
- 2:17Speaker 4: to kill you, and they are going to kill me.
- 2:19Speaker 3: So please open the door. So who are the Jews?
- 2:27Speaker 2: Who are the Palestinians?
- 2:28Speaker 3: And whose land is it?
- 2:30Speaker 5: Really?
- 2:33Speaker 2: Could the fate of the world of humanity itself be
- 2:37Speaker 2: somehow tied to this place.
- 2:39Speaker 4: The nation of Israel is a resurrected nation, so what
- 2:43Speaker 4: if there was going to be a resurrection of another
- 2:46Speaker 4: people and enemy people of Israel. The Bible speaks about
- 2:52Speaker 4: this whole war as a dragon representing the enemy attacking
- 2:56Speaker 4: a woman representing Israel.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Okay, so I think fairly obviously people can see why
- 3:02Speaker 1: this is timely and why it's important in all of
- 3:05Speaker 1: those things. So first off, where where did the idea
- 3:08Speaker 1: for the film come from? And then are you just
- 3:10Speaker 1: kind of lucky that was a plan that it will
- 3:13Speaker 1: come out around the second anniversary of October presentent. Obviously
- 3:16Speaker 1: you didn't know all of the geopolitical stuff that was
- 3:18Speaker 1: going to happen. The fact that Trump has now offered
- 3:20Speaker 1: this you know, peace plan, that Israel has accepted Hamas
- 3:23Speaker 1: now sounds like they're not accepting. There's just a lot
- 3:25Speaker 1: of things going out in the world that connect directly
- 3:28Speaker 1: back to this.
- 3:29Speaker 2: The film is it's a departure from me in the
- 3:32Speaker 2: sense that you know, my films and really all of them,
- 3:35Speaker 2: in one way or another, are about the meaning of America.
- 3:39Speaker 2: With this film, it actually began I've long wanted to
- 3:42Speaker 2: do a film on sort of Christian apologetics. I went
- 3:46Speaker 2: to Israel for the first time at the end of
- 3:48Speaker 2: twenty twenty two, and I discovered that there's all this
- 3:51Speaker 2: archaeology going on in which they're pulling out, you know,
- 3:55Speaker 2: stones and clay seals and inscriptions out of the ground,
- 3:59Speaker 2: and it's validating small details in the Hebrew and the
- 4:04Speaker 2: Christian scriptures, kind of showing that the Bible is not
- 4:08Speaker 2: like Greek mythology. It's in fact a document about real
- 4:12Speaker 2: people and real events. So 's very intrigued by all this,
- 4:16Speaker 2: but kind of put it to the side nine months
- 4:18Speaker 2: later October seventh, and that's when I got the idea
- 4:22Speaker 2: of doing a film that would sort of combine the
- 4:25Speaker 2: politics October seventh, the war with biblical archaeology and the link.
- 4:30Speaker 2: As I saw it, was the ultimate question being whose
- 4:33Speaker 2: land is it? So the archaeology is good not just
- 4:36Speaker 2: for authenticating the Bible, but for establishing the ancient presence of.
- 4:40Speaker 3: The Jews in that land.
- 4:42Speaker 2: And then I came across as fellow Jonathan Kahan, and
- 4:47Speaker 2: he had this arresting idea that the battle between Israel
- 4:51Speaker 2: and Hamas Israel and the Palestinians, he said, is a
- 4:54Speaker 2: kind of recreation of an ancient Biblical conflict between the
- 4:59Speaker 2: israel Lights on the one hand, and their longtime enemies,
- 5:03Speaker 2: the Philistines. And then he goes on not just to
- 5:06Speaker 2: say that the Philistines the Palestinians, it's the same name.
- 5:09Speaker 2: He goes on to show the tactics are the same.
- 5:12Speaker 2: He draws out this parallel in a very fascinating way.
- 5:15Speaker 2: And then my wife is on a telegram channel where
- 5:18Speaker 2: she's collecting all the footage of October seventh, and I
- 5:21Speaker 2: begin to realize no one has seen this stuff. Apparently
- 5:25Speaker 2: the Israeli government decided we're not going to be pushing
- 5:27Speaker 2: it out there. We're going to show it to select journalists.
- 5:30Speaker 2: But the consequences people know about October seventh, but they
- 5:34Speaker 2: don't have that feeling of having been there. Right.
- 5:36Speaker 3: So, just to be.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Totally here, because I did see the forty seven minute
- 5:39Speaker 1: video at an army base in Israel, the stuff that
- 5:42Speaker 1: most people have seen is not the worst of the worst,
- 5:47Speaker 1: because that's what they didn't want out of respect for
- 5:49Speaker 1: the family members of those who were killed and everything else.
- 5:52Speaker 1: I mean there are literally, well I'm sure you've seen
- 5:54Speaker 1: it that you have some of it in the film,
- 5:56Speaker 1: But watching the man be beheaded with the JMASKI smiling
- 5:59Speaker 1: and laughing, that wasn't the worst of it. I mean
- 6:01Speaker 1: there were things that were worse than that. The two
- 6:03Speaker 1: kids running into the bomb shelter, the follower father following them,
- 6:06Speaker 1: and then the guy just throws the bomb in. You
- 6:08Speaker 1: see them all stumble out and die right there, and
- 6:10Speaker 1: he's laughing. I mean it, it's off the charts, insane.
- 6:14Speaker 3: It's off the charts.
- 6:14Speaker 2: And saying what I found from a cinematic point of view,
- 6:17Speaker 2: and this is putting on a movie hat on Is.
- 6:19Speaker 2: I said, what's really fascinating here is this is filmed
- 6:23Speaker 2: by the attackers, so you're not going to see it
- 6:25Speaker 2: from the point of view of the Kibbutzes with the
- 6:28Speaker 2: terrorists approaching. It's almost like I'm going to put the
- 6:30Speaker 2: audience on a motorcycle with a goal pro and you
- 6:33Speaker 2: get to ride over the fence into the Kibbutzes from
- 6:36Speaker 2: the Hamas side. Not almost literally no, literally literally, yeah, yeah,
- 6:39Speaker 2: And this is not recreations. This is actually we have
- 6:41Speaker 2: the opening ten minutes of the film and some of
- 6:43Speaker 2: the most brutal stuff is not in there, but there's
- 6:46Speaker 2: enough to give you a And this is my filmmaking technique.
- 6:50Speaker 5: Right.
- 6:50Speaker 2: If I go back to two thousand meals, I don't
- 6:52Speaker 2: want to tell you about election fraud. I want to
- 6:54Speaker 2: kind of put you on the scene. You see a
- 6:56Speaker 2: guy pull up in a car at night. He's got
- 6:58Speaker 2: a backpack full of ballots. You know, make up your
- 7:00Speaker 2: own mind, and similarly here, and I think a lot
- 7:05Speaker 2: of the reason why October seventh has not resonated emotionally
- 7:10Speaker 2: with enough people is they just haven't seen it. And
- 7:12Speaker 2: so that's how the film begins. I think what's different
- 7:16Speaker 2: for me, is not only the topic this is my
- 7:18Speaker 2: first film that is about Israel, about the Middle East,
- 7:21Speaker 2: but it is also the fact that I'm integrating the
- 7:24Speaker 2: political with the spiritual, the biblical, and even a hint
- 7:30Speaker 2: of the apocalyptic, in other words, Bible prophecy. I think
- 7:34Speaker 2: it's a very tantalizing combination and it works in this case.
- 7:37Speaker 1: So that's why I really liked it, because I thought
- 7:39Speaker 1: going in that I was watching something that was going
- 7:41Speaker 1: to be a little more political, but it actually is
- 7:43Speaker 1: much more spiritual. And then I guess you could say
- 7:47Speaker 1: historically driven. I mean, you go to the city of
- 7:49Speaker 1: David and sorry, what's the guy's name again, says zev
- 7:51Speaker 1: ornste dev Borns, and who I did the dig at
- 7:55Speaker 1: the City of David. Maybe you want to tell people
- 7:57Speaker 1: what the city of David is and the excavation they're
- 7:58Speaker 1: doing there and how that's connected all this, because it's
- 8:00Speaker 1: rather extreme. I mean, you walk in the footsteps of
- 8:03Speaker 1: Jesus without question, actually.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Absolutely, Well it's the city of David is well, it's
- 8:10Speaker 2: built right around David's palace, and you know, this is
- 8:13Speaker 2: how this archaeology is in and this is what first
- 8:15Speaker 2: piqued my interest. So the renowned archaeologist a Lot Mazar
- 8:20Speaker 2: comes to these folks at the city of David, a
- 8:22Speaker 2: foundation that does archaeology, and she says, you have to
- 8:26Speaker 2: move your office, and so they go. Why she goes
- 8:31Speaker 2: because the palace of King David, we think about three
- 8:34Speaker 2: thousand years ago, and until recently people didn't even people
- 8:38Speaker 2: disputed whether the David even existed. But his actual palace
- 8:41Speaker 2: is underneath your feet.
- 8:43Speaker 3: And they go all over there, that's right, and they go, well,
- 8:48Speaker 3: how on earth would you know that? And listen to this.
- 8:51Speaker 3: So she goes.
- 8:52Speaker 2: She opens the Old Testament to the Book of Samuel,
- 8:54Speaker 2: and she goes, look over here. It says that David
- 8:58Speaker 2: invited the Phoenicians, king Hiram of Tire, to send carpenters
- 9:03Speaker 2: and stonemasons to build this palace. David could not build
- 9:06Speaker 2: a palace. He brought in the experts, the Phoenicians and
- 9:09Speaker 2: el at Mazago's we found a Phoenician artifact, a capital,
- 9:13Speaker 2: the top part of a.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Pillar right here.
- 9:16Speaker 2: And so I'm going to infer that that's because the
- 9:19Speaker 2: Phoenicians were here and they were building David's palace.
- 9:21Speaker 3: Sure enough, you.
- 9:22Speaker 2: Dig outcome these giant walls, these giant pillars. So some
- 9:26Speaker 2: people eve into the state dispute. Was it a palace,
- 9:29Speaker 2: was it a royal administrative center? Well, it was clearly
- 9:32Speaker 2: some massive monumental structure, as the archaeologists call it. So,
- 9:38Speaker 2: and then the pilgrimage road, which is the ancient road
- 9:41Speaker 2: linking the pool of Saloam, I mean the Pool of
- 9:43Speaker 2: Salom is important because because millions of Jews over the
- 9:46Speaker 2: centuries have ritually bathed in it. It's the size of
- 9:49Speaker 2: an Olympic swimming pool. And then there's a half mile
- 9:52Speaker 2: pilgrimage road leading to the temple.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So I asked them, so what people need to understand, though,
- 9:57Speaker 1: is that's largely underground still. I mean, now it's being
- 9:59Speaker 1: x but it's basically almost under the old city of
- 10:02Speaker 1: Jerusalem sort of leading to it.
- 10:04Speaker 3: That's right.
- 10:04Speaker 2: And so when they did the archaeology, they had to
- 10:08Speaker 2: preserve the road above versus underground. Archaeology an incredible archaeological project.
- 10:13Speaker 2: But I asked zeb, I, go, well, what is the
- 10:15Speaker 2: probability that Jesus walked.
- 10:18Speaker 3: On that road?
- 10:19Speaker 2: And you know in Jerusalem and in Israel generally, there
- 10:22Speaker 2: are some archaeological sites disputed, like the road to Calvary.
- 10:26Speaker 3: Some people go, it's over here, some people go it's
- 10:27Speaker 3: over there.
- 10:28Speaker 2: But in this case, Zev says, the probability is one
- 10:31Speaker 2: hundred percent because all the out of town Jews so
- 10:34Speaker 2: to speak, didn't have their own private bats. They had
- 10:37Speaker 2: to come to this math ritually cleanse themselves, go to
- 10:40Speaker 2: the temple. So the scenes right out of the Bible,
- 10:43Speaker 2: Old and New Testament both kind of spring to life.
- 10:47Speaker 2: And the reason I have that in the film is
- 10:49Speaker 2: because Jonathan Kahn gives an exposition kind of from a
- 10:52Speaker 2: Biblical point of view. But I have also a secular
- 10:55Speaker 2: audience that's going to go, well, gee, how do we
- 10:57Speaker 2: know that Ponchous Pilot or Jera Maya Isaiah King Day?
- 11:01Speaker 2: How do we know these are real people? So the
- 11:03Speaker 2: archaeological section is a way of saying, guess what. I
- 11:07Speaker 2: couldn't answer that question fifty years ago, but now I can.
- 11:12Speaker 2: And I even offer the tantalizing ideas that as the
- 11:14Speaker 2: world is becoming more secular sort of, God is speaking
- 11:18Speaker 2: back and speaking back through the language of science. That's
- 11:20Speaker 2: what makes this so powerful. It's you look at a seal,
- 11:24Speaker 2: it's a clay seal. It has the name of some
- 11:26Speaker 2: obscure guy in the Bible mentioned only once, and then
- 11:29Speaker 2: you go, well, all the people who've been telling me
- 11:32Speaker 2: for one hundred years of the Bible was written centuries later,
- 11:36Speaker 2: they wouldn't have known about this guy. This guy was
- 11:37Speaker 2: the royal steward, the King Josiah in like the sixth
- 11:40Speaker 2: century BC.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Is that the weirdest part of what connects it to
- 11:45Speaker 1: the political part, which is that the deeper you go down,
- 11:48Speaker 1: the more you find out. And that doesn't seem to
- 11:52Speaker 1: match the narrative of what of whatever you want to
- 11:56Speaker 1: call them. The anti israel set want you to believe
- 11:59Speaker 1: that the facts are literally right there.
- 12:02Speaker 2: Well, I mean, think about it. The main left wing
- 12:05Speaker 2: critique of Israel is that the Jews are colonizers.
- 12:09Speaker 3: Now, first of all, how do you colonize your own land? Right?
- 12:12Speaker 2: This is like accusing the Irish of colonizing Ireland, the
- 12:15Speaker 2: Indians of colonizing India. It makes no sense. Not only that,
- 12:20Speaker 2: but it's quite obvious that the colonization, to the degree
- 12:24Speaker 2: that there is one, is from the Islamic side. Right
- 12:26Speaker 2: in the middle of Jerusalem is the site of the
- 12:30Speaker 2: Solomonic Temple, built by Solomon later rebuilt by Herod the
- 12:34Speaker 2: Second Temple. This is supposedly on the site where Abraham
- 12:38Speaker 2: was ready to sacrifice his son Isaac. So it is
- 12:41Speaker 2: far and away the holiest site in Judaism and Christianity.
- 12:46Speaker 2: And yet what is sitting on top of it right
- 12:48Speaker 2: now an Islamic conquest arch known as the Dome of
- 12:51Speaker 2: the Rock and adjoining it the Alaxa Mosque. So not
- 12:55Speaker 2: only is this a sign of the Muslims basically saying
- 12:58Speaker 2: we're here now and we've taking it over, they would
- 13:02Speaker 2: have been happy to have been called colonized, as they
- 13:04Speaker 2: were very proud of it, kind of like haw Maas
- 13:05Speaker 2: was really proud of October seventh. But we also look
- 13:09Speaker 2: at it in a deeper sense. It's almost as if
- 13:11Speaker 2: there is there is a an endless war raging between
- 13:15Speaker 2: God and the devil, and the theme of the film
- 13:19Speaker 2: is that the devil imitates God, he inverts God's strategy,
- 13:23Speaker 2: and so what is more wonderful for the devil than
- 13:27Speaker 2: to take the holiest site in Judaism and Christianity and
- 13:30Speaker 2: go sit on top of it. And that is exactly
- 13:33Speaker 2: what he's doing right now.
- 13:34Speaker 1: So that is a perfect segue to this segment or
- 13:36Speaker 1: this portion that I wanted to show people where you
- 13:38Speaker 1: ask commentator Eric Stackleback about the uniqueness as it pertains
- 13:43Speaker 1: anti semitism, because that obviously is connected to a lot
- 13:46Speaker 1: of the hatred of Israel.
- 13:47Speaker 3: Let's say, take look, what do you make Eric of antisemitism.
- 13:51Speaker 2: It seems to be a cousin of racism, and yet
- 13:56Speaker 2: it's different. In racism, there's an effort by a group
- 13:59Speaker 2: of people to say I'm up here and you're down there.
- 14:03Speaker 3: You're inferior to me.
- 14:05Speaker 2: But that's hard to say about the Jews because they
- 14:07Speaker 2: are far and away the most successful tribe in world history.
- 14:12Speaker 2: So anti Semitism is not simply a looking down on
- 14:16Speaker 2: the Jews, but in some weird way, it's a looking
- 14:18Speaker 2: up to the Jews.
- 14:19Speaker 5: It's the world's oldest hatred. Certainly demonic a spiritual driver
- 14:24Speaker 5: to it, but much of it is based on envy.
- 14:27Speaker 5: People have asked why the Jews the devil hates the
- 14:30Speaker 5: Jewish people because they represent the existence of God. You
- 14:34Speaker 5: can't explain the existence and the rebirth of Israel without
- 14:37Speaker 5: bringing God into the picture. Where else in human history
- 14:41Speaker 5: have we seen a people after two thousand years of disbursement,
- 14:45Speaker 5: they return to that homeland, they revive the Hebrew language
- 14:49Speaker 5: and it's in regular use for the first time in
- 14:51Speaker 5: twenty five hundred years.
- 14:53Speaker 3: And you're saying it has to be a miracle.
- 14:54Speaker 5: It's a miracle.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So then is Israel just that now the avatar for
- 15:01Speaker 1: all the hatred because it became a ridiculously successful, safe,
- 15:06Speaker 1: largely safe, i should say, flourishing society. That is the
- 15:10Speaker 1: envy of much of that part of the world, and
- 15:12Speaker 1: perhaps now what we're seeing across the Western world.
- 15:15Speaker 2: So I think, and I think Eric alludes to this,
- 15:19Speaker 2: there is a natural and a supernatural dimension to it,
- 15:21Speaker 2: and let's take a moment on each. The natural dimension is,
- 15:24Speaker 2: in fact, that anti Semitism is a disguised form of envy.
- 15:32Speaker 3: The guy who's doing badly.
- 15:33Speaker 2: In the world likes to say that the Jews are
- 15:36Speaker 2: doing better than his group. Not because they are smarter,
- 15:39Speaker 2: not because they work harder, not because they are more industrious,
- 15:42Speaker 2: not because they study more, not because they have more
- 15:45Speaker 2: Nobel laureates and have made more discoveries. It's because they
- 15:48Speaker 2: are uniquely wicked. They are willing to stoop to things
- 15:52Speaker 2: that I in my group, the virtuous group would never
- 15:55Speaker 2: stoop to. So this is the natural human explanation, and
- 15:59Speaker 2: it applies not exclusively to Jews. Other successful tribes get
- 16:02Speaker 2: kind of the same thing. The supernatural explanation I think
- 16:05Speaker 2: is worth adding to it, because I think the natural
- 16:07Speaker 2: explanation by itself is not doesn't give the full account
- 16:11Speaker 2: of it. The supernatural explanation is this that, going back
- 16:16Speaker 2: to the very beginning the rebel angels in heaven, God
- 16:19Speaker 2: is fighting and the devil, the devil can never defeat God,
- 16:23Speaker 2: and so the devil develops a new strategy, which is
- 16:26Speaker 2: to pick on the things that God cares about. So like,
- 16:29Speaker 2: why does in Genesis one, why does the devil tempt
- 16:32Speaker 2: Adam and Eve? What has he got against Adam and e?
- 16:35Speaker 2: What have Adam and Ev done to him?
- 16:36Speaker 3: Nothing?
- 16:37Speaker 2: But his idea is that if I can ruin God's creation,
- 16:41Speaker 2: I get the last laugh on God. That's my ultimate
- 16:43Speaker 2: revenge and God. And in a sense, the devil picks
- 16:46Speaker 2: on the Jews for the exact same reason. And the
- 16:48Speaker 2: Jews are the people of God. And by the people
- 16:51Speaker 2: of God here I mean I don't mean chosenness in
- 16:53Speaker 2: some esoteric sense. I just mean this is the instrument
- 16:57Speaker 2: by which we get the New we get the Ten Commandments,
- 17:01Speaker 2: the Law, the prophets. So the Jews are witnesses in
- 17:05Speaker 2: a way to God in that sense.
- 17:07Speaker 3: Right.
- 17:07Speaker 2: So if that's the case, the devil goes, Okay, I
- 17:10Speaker 2: need to ruin those people.
- 17:11Speaker 3: How do I do it?
- 17:12Speaker 2: First of all, I push them out from the river
- 17:15Speaker 2: to the sea. I get rid of them. And number two,
- 17:17Speaker 2: I go occupy their holiest place, and I declared off limits.
- 17:22Speaker 2: And the Jews can't worship at the side of their
- 17:25Speaker 2: of their own temple, accept at the whaling wall. So
- 17:30Speaker 2: the idea here is that the Jews and by extension,
- 17:34Speaker 2: the Christians, because the Christians are, you know, Jesus, we
- 17:39Speaker 2: present ourselves as spiritual Israelites. We are engrafted onto the
- 17:43Speaker 2: Jewish Covenant.
- 17:44Speaker 3: That's how the New Testament relates to the Old.
- 17:47Speaker 2: So if the Bible is right, you would expect to
- 17:48Speaker 2: see now in a kind of end times or the
- 17:51Speaker 2: last Age and increased hostility to the Jews and increased
- 17:56Speaker 2: persecution of the Christians. And not only is that what
- 17:59Speaker 2: we see, it's coming from the same people. And I
- 18:02Speaker 2: don't just mean it's the radical Muslims. On the one hand,
- 18:04Speaker 2: but notice it's also coming from the secular left. The
- 18:07Speaker 2: secular left hates Israel. The secular left hates the Christians
- 18:11Speaker 2: and the radical Muslims, and the secular left who would
- 18:14Speaker 2: not seem to have a lot in common, Like what
- 18:16Speaker 2: does an.
- 18:17Speaker 3: LGBTQ guy have, you know, in.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Common with He's not going to move to Gaza, his
- 18:21Speaker 2: life isn't going to be that good. And similarly, you
- 18:24Speaker 2: can't take a bunch of you know, Jihadis and put
- 18:26Speaker 2: them at the folsome Street fair.
- 18:28Speaker 3: They're not going to fit in so well. So this
- 18:31Speaker 3: odd strange.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Bedfellows are united by hatred of the Jews and the Christians,
- 18:38Speaker 2: and I think so this is where the movie comes out.
- 18:40Speaker 2: The Jews and the Christians need to come together. The
- 18:44Speaker 2: Christians and Israel need to come together, recognizing that we
- 18:49Speaker 2: have a common adversary in both radical Islam and in
- 18:53Speaker 2: the secular left.
- 18:55Speaker 1: Right. That's actually one of the best explanations of the
- 18:57Speaker 1: Red Green Alliance that I've ever heard. There's obviously a
- 19:00Speaker 1: religious portion of it that's mostly coming from radical Islam, right,
- 19:05Speaker 1: but then the hyper secular version of it is what
- 19:08Speaker 1: the left now is, which is just we hate Western society.
- 19:12Speaker 1: That thing represents Western society. Let's go all in.
- 19:15Speaker 2: And the way that the left incorporates this is they
- 19:19Speaker 2: treat the radical Muslims as another ethnic group. So the
- 19:23Speaker 2: left says, all right, we got we got the blacks
- 19:25Speaker 2: over here, we got the feminists over there, we got
- 19:27Speaker 2: the LGBTQ over here. All right, then here we have
- 19:31Speaker 2: the ilhan Omar people, the mom Dannie people, you know,
- 19:36Speaker 2: the illegals who have come in from Iran. They're going
- 19:40Speaker 2: to be just one more constituency group, and we will
- 19:42Speaker 2: treat them in that way. It's it's a very dangerous
- 19:45Speaker 2: game they're playing, but they the left thinks we can
- 19:48Speaker 2: incorporate them. The radical Muslims think we don't have very
- 19:52Speaker 2: good entree into this society. Right, the left will let
- 19:55Speaker 2: us into the boardrooms, they will get us, they will
- 19:58Speaker 2: connect us with George Soros all the other people we
- 20:00Speaker 2: need to meet. So it's the alliance has worked out
- 20:03Speaker 2: for both sides.
- 20:04Speaker 1: Right the Unfortunately for the lefties, they just get beheaded
- 20:07Speaker 1: a little lower on the neck, right, and then they
- 20:09Speaker 1: start to bury their head in the sand a bit more,
- 20:12Speaker 1: but the beheading still ends up coming. So clearly people
- 20:14Speaker 1: can see how this is connected to so much what's
- 20:16Speaker 1: going on? Let me just ask you one other question,
- 20:18Speaker 1: then we'll connect this to some of the news of
- 20:20Speaker 1: the week, which I don't want you to give away
- 20:22Speaker 1: the full conclusion of the movie per se, But are
- 20:26Speaker 1: you hopeful there's a way out of a seemingly intractable
- 20:30Speaker 1: problem that's a political problem, but now you're also arguing
- 20:34Speaker 1: is a spiritual problem.
- 20:35Speaker 2: Let's say, yeah, I think it needs to be dealt
- 20:38Speaker 2: with at both levels. I mean, my reason for having
- 20:40Speaker 2: that in Yahoo in the film, for example, is to
- 20:42Speaker 2: talk politics, but.
- 20:45Speaker 3: I also ask him questions like what do you think
- 20:47Speaker 3: of Jesus? You know, and I think he.
- 20:51Speaker 2: Very interestingly talks about the jewishness of Jesus and the
- 20:56Speaker 2: fact and you know, these days, of course, the left
- 20:58Speaker 2: is trying to say Jesus was Palestinian or so there
- 21:04Speaker 2: is a political solution. What you have here with the
- 21:08Speaker 2: political solution is, you know, Trump comes in and he'll
- 21:11Speaker 2: say something that seems on the face of it absurd.
- 21:13Speaker 2: Gaza needs to be another riviera. People laugh this. God
- 21:18Speaker 2: doesn't even know what he's talking about. But Trump is
- 21:20Speaker 2: like a real estate guy, right, He looks at the
- 21:22Speaker 2: rubble and he goes. You know, I see some opportunities
- 21:25Speaker 2: for some new buildings and clean streets and safe neighborhoods
- 21:29Speaker 2: and people going to work, and high tech companies and prosperity.
- 21:32Speaker 2: So let's offer these people another road. They may not
- 21:37Speaker 2: take it. They may be too twisted, they may be
- 21:39Speaker 2: too indoctrinated, they may love blood, but at least they
- 21:44Speaker 2: are being given an option. I think that's really what's
- 21:46Speaker 2: on the table here. Now. The spiritual side of it,
- 21:49Speaker 2: I think is very important and is particularly relevant after
- 21:52Speaker 2: Charlie Kirk, and that is the sort of mood of renewal,
- 21:58Speaker 2: of a need for us to connect the political to
- 22:01Speaker 2: the moral to the spiritual. And I think this film
- 22:04Speaker 2: actually fits that mood very well because where the film
- 22:07Speaker 2: comes out, I don't mind giving away the ending, and
- 22:10Speaker 2: these kinds of films, the plot, so to speak, is
- 22:13Speaker 2: not Keith's the experience of the film. The ending is
- 22:16Speaker 2: basically saying this, look, if God is raised back the
- 22:21Speaker 2: Jews and brought him back to their ancestral homeland, and
- 22:24Speaker 2: if the devil has decided, let me recreate in a
- 22:27Speaker 2: modern way the enemies of Israel, the Philistines, you know,
- 22:30Speaker 2: the Moabites, the Malakites. So if things are going back,
- 22:35Speaker 2: then we have to go back. And by we, I
- 22:38Speaker 2: mean the Jews are going back.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Right.
- 22:40Speaker 2: You've got young nineteen year olds and twenty two year
- 22:43Speaker 2: olds in Israel and they're putting on the armor of
- 22:45Speaker 2: the ancient Israelites. And the message of the film is, hey, Christians,
- 22:50Speaker 2: we need to do the same thing. We need to
- 22:51Speaker 2: go back to the way Christians were in the Book
- 22:53Speaker 2: of Acts. I mean the main difference I think between
- 22:56Speaker 2: Christianity and Islam right now in the world. Islam has
- 22:59Speaker 2: not lost the force of its original revelation. Christianity in
- 23:03Speaker 2: many ways has and so the renewal, I think, is
- 23:07Speaker 2: to recover that, to recover the kind of energy of
- 23:11Speaker 2: the early apostles who are on fire for the fate.
- 23:16Speaker 2: Now there are Christians like this, by the way, in Nigeria.
- 23:18Speaker 2: This is why the radical Muslims want to behead them.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Because Islam is spreading basically by having eight kids, and
- 23:26Speaker 2: Christianity is spreading by conversion. So it's a competition and
- 23:29Speaker 2: the Muslims are a worried about it and they want
- 23:31Speaker 2: to stop.
- 23:32Speaker 1: Do you think that Christian revival is the only thing
- 23:35Speaker 1: that will stop radical Islam throughout the West. I mean,
- 23:37Speaker 1: we're going to get to what happened in Manchester yesterday
- 23:40Speaker 1: in just a second. But I mean I see no
- 23:41Speaker 1: other way sort of for Europe to combat what's happening.
- 23:46Speaker 2: I think it's a necessary part, and I would put
- 23:49Speaker 2: it philosophically in this framework. Athens and Jerusalem neither one
- 23:53Speaker 2: can stand by itself. These are the two pillars of
- 23:56Speaker 2: the West. Now, Athens at some level doesn't need a defense, right,
- 23:59Speaker 2: It's Socrates is it's Marcus Aurelius, it is, it's the
- 24:02Speaker 2: Greek theater, it's Pericles and the foundations of democracy. But
- 24:06Speaker 2: Athens has always been nourished and sustained by Jerusalem, which
- 24:09Speaker 2: is Abraham and Moses and the prophetic tradition and the
- 24:14Speaker 2: idea of a moral law that is outside of us,
- 24:17Speaker 2: not merely inwardly generated, that puts claims on us. And
- 24:23Speaker 2: I think the founders would have said that the good
- 24:25Speaker 2: life is to combine both. That was those were the
- 24:30Speaker 2: sort of that was the soil of the American founding.
- 24:33Speaker 2: So the restoration of the West requires, I think a
- 24:39Speaker 2: revival of Jerusalem even more so than Athens and Athens
- 24:44Speaker 2: ultimately needs to be saved by Jerusalem the way it
- 24:48Speaker 2: was in.
- 24:48Speaker 3: The history of the West.
- 24:49Speaker 2: I mean, when we read Aristotle and when we read Socrates,
- 24:53Speaker 2: we're actually not getting the ancient Greeks the way they were.
- 24:57Speaker 2: The ancient Greek society was incredibly blood thirsty. It had
- 25:01Speaker 2: widespread slavery, It was brutal in a manner that we
- 25:04Speaker 2: would find unendurable today we get when we go to
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, we go to Yale and Dartmouth. We study
- 25:10Speaker 2: Greece as filtered through Jerusalem.
- 25:13Speaker 1: Although Yale and Dartmouth are getting bloody again, yeah, in
- 25:16Speaker 1: some respect, although it's a different thing altogether. If you're
