- 0:39Speaker 3: Oh Gavel Gavel a podcast all.
- 0:44Speaker 1: About courtroom TV shows. We watch them so you don't
- 0:47Speaker 1: have to. We got a couple of new reviews. Makes
- 0:50Speaker 1: it sound like it's not fun to watch core room
- 0:52Speaker 1: TV shows. Brand We watch them in case you don't
- 0:54Speaker 1: have the time. We do it so you don't have
- 0:57Speaker 1: to do it. That's right.
- 0:58Speaker 2: We've worked it into our our our calendar. We've worked
- 1:01Speaker 2: into our calendar to watch TV. That's how you know
- 1:03Speaker 2: you have the best job. It's just look, I can't.
- 1:05Speaker 2: I gotta watch Boss Ross here because it's part of
- 1:08Speaker 2: my page.
- 1:09Speaker 1: I got some reviews June June two September said the
- 1:14Speaker 1: best little tree, the best little tree, best tree.
- 1:18Speaker 3: When I discovered the team at Bramble Jam over Christmas,
- 1:22Speaker 3: I couldn't have guessed how much a true treasure I
- 1:26Speaker 3: had found. It's a little like picking your favorite kid,
- 1:30Speaker 3: but your Gavel Gavel is the best way to start
- 1:33Speaker 3: my morning? Am I ever watching these shows on TV?
- 1:36Speaker 3: Absolutely not been there. Law School ruined that, but I'm
- 1:41Speaker 3: eagerly awaiting every new Yo Gavel Gavel episode. I guess
- 1:46Speaker 3: these guys are hilarious and this show is the best
- 1:51Speaker 3: companion to my morning coffee. Thank you.
- 1:54Speaker 1: June two sept I love that.
- 1:58Speaker 2: I love that that we're getting new use and you know,
- 2:01Speaker 2: a bunch came in. I know, so that's exciting, So
- 2:04Speaker 2: maybe we'll keep doing this. Well, put that ultimatum down.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of my m oh, you know that's
- 2:10Speaker 1: how I, uh, I always stick to them. I know,
- 2:13Speaker 1: I'm big on the ultimatums, and I never I never
- 2:15Speaker 1: looked back, or as Troy says in Community an aultmato,
- 2:19Speaker 1: that's exactly what my favorite. Yeah, that's great. I've got
- 2:22Speaker 1: Judge Jerry, You've got Judge Ross. That's right. Mine's a
- 2:26Speaker 1: little bit shorter, yours a little bit longer. Get me,
- 2:28Speaker 1: let's get out of the way. Uh. Frankie Rubin and
- 2:31Speaker 1: I think this is an all time low amount for
- 2:34Speaker 1: a suit is suing Mike Ryan for eighty dollars. I
- 2:38Speaker 1: don't know how many double digit cases we've had. I
- 2:40Speaker 1: think we've had a few, but eighty might be eight zero. Wow,
- 2:44Speaker 1: that is petty, petty. That is not small, claims downy petty.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Be cool. These guys, both of them, I think they
- 2:53Speaker 1: don't say where they're from. I don't think, but they
- 2:55Speaker 1: sound like they're New Yorkers, And it's kind of like
- 2:57Speaker 1: lo from New York, come here, try this coffee. Frankie
- 3:03Speaker 1: is a very enthusiastic coffee drinker. He loves his coffee.
- 3:08Speaker 1: He gives a bit of a manifesto on how to
- 3:11Speaker 1: drink and how to make the perfect cup of coffee
- 3:13Speaker 1: at home. Of course, you it's got to be whole bean.
- 3:16Speaker 1: You gotta grind. You got to do the organic, single
- 3:19Speaker 1: origin coffee. And uh, it's it, listen it is. He doesn't,
- 3:24Speaker 1: but he wants to get there one but right now,
- 3:27Speaker 1: what he's to him, the most important part of the
- 3:31Speaker 1: coffee experience is making sure that you grind your own coffee.
- 3:34Speaker 1: Not in the store. Don't grind it in the bag.
- 3:36Speaker 1: You got to grind it new every single day. And
- 3:38Speaker 1: that's why you need a really good grinder. He had
- 3:42Speaker 1: grinder risks. He had a fifty dollars coffee grinder, which
- 3:45Speaker 1: seemed low for really good grinders, but it looked nice.
- 3:48Speaker 1: He ran away with coffee grinder. Is more than fifty,
- 3:52Speaker 1: I would think, So, I don't know. We've had to
- 3:55Speaker 1: say coffee grinder forever. It was great. It's my mind,
- 3:58Speaker 1: it's great. But his fifty dollars and he's been having
- 4:03Speaker 1: some problems with this coffee grinder. It is uh. He
- 4:07Speaker 1: did bring it into the court, so I will tell
- 4:09Speaker 1: you if it pleases the court. Would It's a coffee grinder,
- 4:13Speaker 1: and some coffee grinders have a thing that you pull
- 4:17Speaker 1: out and but it doesn't go all the way to
- 4:19Speaker 1: the top. There's a little bit of a gap there.
- 4:22Speaker 1: This one is fully enclosed, okay, and you can pull
- 4:26Speaker 1: it out pour the coffee. But it's you know, supposed
- 4:28Speaker 1: to make it to where there's no leakage of grounds.
- 4:31Speaker 1: You know, I'm talking about nothing getting out. All of
- 4:35Speaker 1: it's going straight there into the cup there. But he
- 4:40Speaker 1: was having some leakage problems. Somehow some of the coffee
- 4:43Speaker 1: grounds as they were grinding were coming out. We're getting
- 4:46Speaker 1: out into onto his counter. And all this stuff, and
- 4:50Speaker 1: the company said that if you would ship it to us,
- 4:53Speaker 1: we'll take a look at it. But it's gonna cost
- 4:55Speaker 1: twenty five dollars. It's a man, I know, twenty five
- 4:58Speaker 1: dollars ship. We're just in over our head a on
- 5:00Speaker 1: a coffee grinder. You think, so, so he is, but
- 5:05Speaker 1: he really likes to grinder, so so he's just say it,
- 5:09Speaker 1: say it. Try to say it six more times. Okay,
- 5:12Speaker 1: I can do it. So he is talking to his
- 5:14Speaker 1: neighbor Mike, and Mike is like, oh, I bet I
- 5:16Speaker 1: could fix it. And I was like, listen, I can
- 5:20Speaker 1: send it to the company. We don't have to try
- 5:23Speaker 1: to fix it. Mike insists on putting his hands on
- 5:29Speaker 1: the grinder.
- 5:29Speaker 2: Mike said, I can fix it, and dude's like no,
- 5:33Speaker 2: but he's fix my coffee grinder.
- 5:35Speaker 1: Yes, this is this is this is Frankie's version of
- 5:37Speaker 1: the story. Okay, Frankie got it. Frankie's version of story.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Mike is like no, no, no, let me get it
- 5:42Speaker 1: and gets his hands on the grinder, and and now
- 5:45Speaker 1: the grinder is worse. It's it's it's even more is
- 5:49Speaker 1: coming out every single day. What am I to do?
- 5:51Speaker 1: Frankie asked, buy a new coffee grinder. There's a lot
- 5:55Speaker 1: of emotional distress here as a result of this. I
- 5:57Speaker 1: haven't been able to have it's shane. A little bit
- 6:00Speaker 1: of the flavor of the coffee's a little bit different.
- 6:02Speaker 1: It's messing me up. Me Mike says, Listen. I came
- 6:10Speaker 1: over one day and Frankie slid the grinder row for
- 6:14Speaker 1: to me. He said, will you look at this? You
- 6:17Speaker 1: look at this one. Frankie says, don't touch. He said,
- 6:19Speaker 1: don't touch. Frankie says it. He said, don't touch. Mikey,
- 6:24Speaker 1: take a look at it. Maybe maybe you can. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: can't figure it out, maybe you can figure it out. Basically,
- 6:28Speaker 1: is is the thing here? And He's like, I could
- 6:30Speaker 1: see kind of where the looseness was taking place, but
- 6:33Speaker 1: I couldn't figure out how to fix it. I didn't
- 6:34Speaker 1: really do a lot. I just kind of saw where
- 6:36Speaker 1: the problem was poked around a little bit. But I,
- 6:38Speaker 1: you know, I left it in the same condition, not works.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I didn't do anything to it. I didn't break anything
- 6:45Speaker 1: loose same condition. Frankie says. It's the principle of it all.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Judge Jerry, it's about boundaries. People need to learn that
- 6:53Speaker 1: you don't just touch other people's stuff when you go
- 6:56Speaker 1: over to them, especially when they ask you not to boundaries.
- 7:00Speaker 1: Mikey's like, he didn't, that's exactly right. So he said,
- 7:03Speaker 1: he said, yes, he said, he said, this is exactly right.
- 7:06Speaker 1: Jerry says, isn't it possible that it was already broken
- 7:09Speaker 1: beyond repair? That he couldn't have broken it anymore than
- 7:13Speaker 1: it already was?
- 7:14Speaker 2: Unusually great question? Yes, wait, well wait till you see
- 7:18Speaker 2: what he does in a little bit.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Okay, Uh, he says, well, listen, the company said they
- 7:22Speaker 1: were going to fix it. Now they say they won't
- 7:24Speaker 1: fix it, So you tell me, judge Jerry. So they
- 7:26Speaker 1: they're okay, I don't know, I don't know what information
- 7:29Speaker 1: the coffee company got. What company is this? I don't know.
- 7:33Speaker 1: I don't know what information they received where they were
- 7:35Speaker 1: like this out of our hands out, I don't know.
- 7:38Speaker 1: We don't we're not private to that information. Jerry says,
- 7:40Speaker 1: why don't you just buy coffee like everyone else? Go
- 7:42Speaker 1: to a store, go to a coffee shop, and I
- 7:44Speaker 1: coffee shop, get a cup of coffee. And he's like,
- 7:47Speaker 1: I could do that, but it's inferior coffee. That's where
- 7:50Speaker 1: the emotional stress comes. I've been drinking inferior coffee. There's
- 7:53Speaker 1: other grinders out there. I don't know why he doesn't
- 7:56Speaker 1: just buy it. I think he's trying to get the
- 7:58Speaker 1: money for a new grinder. Basically, if he's that tight
- 8:01Speaker 1: budget wise, he didn't grind. It's the principal. It's the
- 8:04Speaker 1: principal thing. That's the thing.
- 8:06Speaker 2: But even if it's the principle, even if I decide
- 8:08Speaker 2: it's the principal thing and I'm assuing you for let's
- 8:09Speaker 2: say a fifteen dollars air tag that you broke on
- 8:12Speaker 2: the keys that you launched in the air.
- 8:13Speaker 1: Let's say that I'm doing that.
- 8:15Speaker 2: I'm if I need the tag, I'm gonna if I
- 8:18Speaker 2: decide I'm gonna be petty about this and bother, you'll
- 8:21Speaker 2: probably if I need the tag day to day, I'll
- 8:23Speaker 2: probably still go get a tag while I'm waiting on
- 8:24Speaker 2: the pettiness.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Sure, if I have the money, Sure, right, you would
- 8:28Speaker 1: think so this doesn't know that he's willing to drink
- 8:31Speaker 1: bad coffee every day to be petty. Yeah, that's another
- 8:34Speaker 1: level of petty that I've just man, Jerry says, Okay,
- 8:38Speaker 1: so you're a coffee expert, Frankie says, and I wouldn't
- 8:41Speaker 1: say that. It's not a coffee expert law, Jerry says,
- 8:44Speaker 1: coffee officionado. Frank sis, that's what we're looking for. That's
- 8:47Speaker 1: the word we're looking at the ticket. Jerry says, Okay,
- 8:50Speaker 1: here's what we're going to do. Bring it in. They
- 8:52Speaker 1: bring in five cups of coffee. Good, okay, and you
- 8:57Speaker 1: maintain that there's been emotional, just stressed because you need
- 9:01Speaker 1: your cup of coffee from your grind. I love what
- 9:05Speaker 1: we're doing here. Jerry wants to gauge if he can
- 9:07Speaker 1: really tell which cup of coffee is his. So Jerry
- 9:11Speaker 1: brings into five cups. He tries them all. He says,
- 9:14Speaker 1: I think it's number four, but it was closer than
- 9:16Speaker 1: I anticipated. Jerry says, it's not number four. That's coffee
- 9:22Speaker 1: from a breakroom. Jerry's ready to rule. Wow, do you
- 9:26Speaker 1: think they were all coffee from the breakroom? I hope her.
- 9:30Speaker 1: He breaks down what they all are so I don't know.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He's clearly not getting the money now right, Yeah, He's like,
- 9:36Speaker 1: you can live without it. Clearly you don't even know
- 9:38Speaker 1: which one is the correct cup of coffee, no money
- 9:41Speaker 1: for the grinder or for the emotional distress. Sorry.
- 9:44Speaker 2: When I told elementary school PE, and I wonder I
- 9:46Speaker 2: know you're wondering how we got here. But when I
- 9:48Speaker 2: taught elementary school Pe, I had a kid one year
- 9:52Speaker 2: who's swore that Desawny water was better than any other water.
- 9:55Speaker 1: He would make a big deal about it in PE class.
- 9:57Speaker 2: I don't know why, and he would annoy the other
- 9:59Speaker 2: kids like that's Deshni's blah blah blah could blah blah blah.
- 10:02Speaker 2: And I just was like, I love this kid, yeah,
- 10:04Speaker 2: And I was like, his name was Carson. I was
- 10:06Speaker 2: like Carson, Like, dude, you made him try different waters.
- 10:10Speaker 2: So one finally he kept when I could tell Desani
- 10:13Speaker 2: from anything. So I did a blind taste test during
- 10:15Speaker 2: PA class, because you know, teacher of the year. I
- 10:18Speaker 2: put him all in the refrigerator, made sure they were
- 10:21Speaker 2: the all the exact temp. Did a blind taste test
- 10:23Speaker 2: for this third grader and he could flip like I
- 10:27Speaker 2: made the whole thing where he could flip up the
- 10:28Speaker 2: thing at the end and he missed it, and it
- 10:32Speaker 2: was he he was devastated.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Bullied him a little bit but it was nice. Looking back,
- 10:37Speaker 1: now we have a better understanding what bullying twenty twenty
- 10:41Speaker 1: one year old Dan. It was a different time. It
- 10:43Speaker 1: was a different time, but we got some good stories
- 10:46Speaker 1: out of it.
- 10:46Speaker 2: Twenty years or twenty years ago, that was considered fun,
- 10:50Speaker 2: that was considered teaching and nurturing and education.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Nowadays, all of this woke culture. Everyone's out there being like, guess, bully,
- 10:56Speaker 1: you're making a kid feel bad. Yeah, I think I
- 10:59Speaker 1: were in this. I think we're somewhere in the middle middle,
- 11:02Speaker 1: a happy medium there. But he threw the water. He
- 11:05Speaker 1: knew that as an eight or nine year old, he
- 11:08Speaker 1: was taught. He was taught. He was cashing check. He
- 11:11Speaker 1: couldn't cash actly right. All right, let's have to learn
- 11:13Speaker 1: that lesson. Let's got to learn that.
- 11:14Speaker 2: Los America's Court with Boss Ross, and what you need
- 11:18Speaker 2: to know is justicee No, it is a foreign concept.
- 11:24Speaker 2: Is interesting you to overstand it. He wants you, don't
- 11:27Speaker 2: want you to understand, wants you to overstand it. Let
- 11:30Speaker 2: me introduce you to Terrence Lawton and Samantha Nathan.
- 11:33Speaker 1: I want to know if anyone out there has watched
- 11:36Speaker 1: Judge Ross because of the way in which we talk
- 11:38Speaker 1: about the opener. Has anyone out there every been like,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I got to give this guy a shot because of
- 11:42Speaker 1: the way. Then every time they talk about Judge Ross, there's.
- 11:46Speaker 2: More quirks with him. It seems like a regular show.
- 11:50Speaker 2: But his court like that thing that we do the
- 11:53Speaker 2: thank Thomas, the fact that it looks like it's from
- 11:56Speaker 2: the eighties even though it's not. And then and then
- 11:59Speaker 2: also when he rules a lot of times he rules,
- 12:02Speaker 2: and the way he does it is like the Cavali
- 12:05Speaker 2: is the fallen favor of the planet, the gavil is
- 12:07Speaker 2: the fallen favorite defendant. Like he does it like it's
- 12:10Speaker 2: this big twist ending And I think those things make
- 12:13Speaker 2: Ross a legend.
- 12:15Speaker 1: He's the Boss Ross. He's Boss Ross. This is a
- 12:17Speaker 1: great case.
- 12:18Speaker 2: And I gotta be honest, if you can figure this
- 12:19Speaker 2: one out, all right, you might be able to figure
- 12:21Speaker 2: it out.
- 12:22Speaker 1: I think both sides have a legitimate case. I'm gonna
- 12:25Speaker 1: put my my judge cap on. Yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 2: So Terrence Lawton is suing Samantha Nathan for eleven hundred
- 12:31Speaker 2: dollars of hospital bills. Terrence says, your honor, this is
- 12:35Speaker 2: right out of the gate. What's going on, Ross is
- 12:37Speaker 2: what's going on? Terrence gets right to it, Your honor,
- 12:40Speaker 2: Samantha tried to kill me with a candle, your honor.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Let's tell what. He says, Your honor, Samantha tried to
- 12:44Speaker 1: kill me with a candle, your honor, Double your honor, Yeah,
- 12:46Speaker 1: and double your honor. That's right. Samantha immediately goes, I
- 12:49Speaker 1: lit a candle, your honor. That is it. I did
- 12:52Speaker 1: not try to kill him.
- 12:55Speaker 2: Apparently he has asthma. I think this is gonna be
- 13:00Speaker 2: a fun time ross dead. Sirius goes, are.
- 13:03Speaker 1: You saying he's lying about his asthma? Wow?
- 13:05Speaker 2: She goes, I've never seen it. Terrence says, your honor,
- 13:11Speaker 2: she knows I have asthma, and he goes, were you
- 13:13Speaker 2: guys dating? Yes, your honor, Terrence's we were dating eight months.
- 13:16Speaker 2: Samantha goes, more like a year.
- 13:18Speaker 1: All right.
- 13:19Speaker 2: He's like, okay, eight months to a year. Did you
- 13:22Speaker 2: ever have an asthma attack? Terrence says no. Did you
- 13:25Speaker 2: tell her you had asthma? Yes, I did, Samantha says
- 13:30Speaker 2: he He would often tell me he couldn't have a
- 13:33Speaker 2: lot of strong smells around, and he would bring it
- 13:36Speaker 2: up whenever I wanted to buy buy my brand of
- 13:39Speaker 2: anything for our apartment. Didn't work, he would say that,
- 13:43Speaker 2: oh just wait, it's gonna get better. That would set
- 13:46Speaker 2: off my asthma. And Ross was like, so you were
- 13:49Speaker 2: aware of his condition. She's like, you're on only as
- 13:52Speaker 2: an excuse. I never saw him have any like if
- 13:57Speaker 2: I ever wanted to do anything, go on a high,
- 14:00Speaker 2: go outside, we couldn't because of his asthma.
- 14:02Speaker 1: But he could spend time outside regularly. Not a problem.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Oh wow, and that does seem a little suspenoed. Ross
- 14:08Speaker 1: is like, but what his asthma brought up frequently? She
- 14:10Speaker 1: says yes, and he goes, so why would you doubt it?
- 14:13Speaker 1: And he says, well, she goes, he's never had an inhaler,
- 14:17Speaker 1: never seen an inhaler. They lived together, by the way,
- 14:20Speaker 1: never seen inhaler. I never saw him cough, like it
- 14:24Speaker 1: ain't a cold or something. That's one thing, but like
- 14:25Speaker 1: just never even saw him cough because of a smell. Nothing,
- 14:30Speaker 1: And he goes, Russ's it looks like you guys were
- 14:33Speaker 1: living together. Did you tell him that you were like?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Did he tell you that he was sensitive this stuff
- 14:40Speaker 2: about his asthma while you were living together? She said, yeah,
- 14:43Speaker 2: he would say that things would set off his asthma,
- 14:45Speaker 2: and so like, I was very good to not but like,
- 14:47Speaker 2: I've never in any setting seen him have any sort
- 14:51Speaker 2: of symptoms of asthma.
- 14:52Speaker 1: Ever, it seems like there's an easy way to prove
- 14:55Speaker 1: in the court of why whether or not he has asthma.
- 14:57Speaker 2: We're we're never gonna get that, Terence says, I was
- 15:00Speaker 2: always really firm about my triggers. You're, honor, I couldn't
- 15:03Speaker 2: have any synthetic fragrances. She knew it was a big deal.
- 15:06Speaker 2: She knew a fragrance could kill me. She knew it.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Wow, this points.
- 15:10Speaker 2: Ross does laugh. He's like, a fragrance could kill you.
- 15:12Speaker 2: Samantha says, doesn't that sound ridiculous? Your honor, Like, doesn't
- 15:15Speaker 2: it sound ridiculous? He goes, well, I don't have asthma,
- 15:19Speaker 2: so I don't really know. Did all did you ever
- 15:21Speaker 2: have candles lit when you lived together? And she said, yeah,
- 15:25Speaker 2: we'd have the soy wax candles, but didn't really have
- 15:29Speaker 2: pandalili so to speak. But it didn't have like the
- 15:33Speaker 2: the scent was too mild for me personally. Okay, but
- 15:38Speaker 2: like what happened, Well, we broke up because we started
- 15:43Speaker 2: getting on each other's nerves. If you can believe it,
- 15:45Speaker 2: I know. And but they continue to live together in
- 15:49Speaker 2: the apartment because their lease wasn't top They signed the
- 15:52Speaker 2: lease together and so they decided to live in the
- 15:55Speaker 2: same apartment. So this is where things get real crazy.
- 15:59Speaker 1: That's tough, tough.
- 16:00Speaker 2: They wanted to make sure blah blah blah at least
- 16:02Speaker 2: wasn't up. Terrence says, I thought she would do the
- 16:05Speaker 2: mature thing and find her own place that was more
- 16:07Speaker 2: suitable to her, so she could do what she wanted
- 16:09Speaker 2: to do, Ross goes. Or you could have done the
- 16:11Speaker 2: man thing and let the lady have the apartment. And
- 16:14Speaker 2: you didn't do that either.
- 16:15Speaker 1: There it is who was this his place first? Nope,
- 16:19Speaker 1: they signed it together. They moved in together. Wow.
- 16:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, So Samantha goes, well, after finding some unmentionables
- 16:28Speaker 2: from a lady friend that he brought home left in
- 16:30Speaker 2: my bed, I did get.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Upset as attacking there, Ross goes. Rosco's how many bedrooms
- 16:38Speaker 1: do you have? Why weren't you in your own bedroom?
- 16:40Speaker 1: And and Samantha's like just one bedroom. After we broke up,
- 16:43Speaker 1: they're still sleeping together. He was sleeping on the couch. Oh,
- 16:46Speaker 1: I was sleeping in the bed, same apartment. Still they
- 16:49Speaker 1: had to you had to have sex in the bed
- 16:51Speaker 1: apparently figure out not only come on you start. Everyone knows, yeah, start, yeah, yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 1: yeah we can. We can put up for a half hourly.
- 16:59Speaker 1: You got a whole, a whole yeah yeah, yes, uh
- 17:06Speaker 1: so you're broken up. He starts falling through that. It's
- 17:08Speaker 1: a whole thing. Yeah, sectional. Maybe that's why it's called
- 17:11Speaker 1: a section section. Yeah.
- 17:15Speaker 2: Uh So he goes, you're broken up in a one
- 17:18Speaker 2: better apartment and you start bringing women home, and he goes,
- 17:21Speaker 2: you're on. We had an agreement on days like Monday, Wednesday,
- 17:24Speaker 2: Friday were her days. She wanted to bring somebody home
- 17:27Speaker 2: and I would go somewhere else. I had Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday.
- 17:30Speaker 2: I guess they took the Lord's day off.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, and you have to, but they didn't.
- 17:33Speaker 1: But they understanding didn't uh cover where, Well that really
- 17:41Speaker 1: isn't important, but it didn't cover where. But yeah, you
- 17:43Speaker 1: probably should not be in her. That's that's a tough spot.
- 17:46Speaker 1: That's a tough That's all this case is about. Did
- 17:48Speaker 1: you bring some of them?
- 17:49Speaker 2: Did you bring men home, and she goes, not very often,
- 17:51Speaker 2: and he goes, but you did, and she said yes,
- 17:54Speaker 2: and he goes. So you bought a candle you knew
- 17:56Speaker 2: would bother him because you were angry about this underwhere
- 17:58Speaker 2: you found in your bed. And she goes, no, he
- 18:02Speaker 2: wasn't supposed.
- 18:03Speaker 1: To be there that night.
- 18:04Speaker 2: I texted him and said, I had a date that evening.
- 18:08Speaker 2: I was cooking dinner for my new boyfriend, and could
- 18:12Speaker 2: you please respect the apartment on my night. He said
- 18:15Speaker 2: he would and he wasn't going to be home that evening.
- 18:19Speaker 1: Wow.
- 18:20Speaker 2: Uh Ros says it was her night. She texted you,
- 18:23Speaker 2: why didn't you respect that? He goes, well, I had
- 18:25Speaker 2: to go back home to get my boxing gloves. I
- 18:28Speaker 2: had to go home home to get my boxing gloves.
- 18:30Speaker 2: He said, what are you talking about. He's like, I
- 18:31Speaker 2: had a boxing class. I forgot my gloves. I was
- 18:33Speaker 2: going to go in. He goes, and I knew she
- 18:35Speaker 2: was in there in the kitchen, so I just snuck
- 18:38Speaker 2: in to the bedroom.
- 18:39Speaker 1: He did to text her and say, hey, can you
- 18:41Speaker 1: put him out? He didn't come on. I had to
- 18:44Speaker 1: go in, so I popped in to get the gloves.
- 18:46Speaker 1: I was going to go right back out. You wanted
- 18:48Speaker 1: to check in on.
- 18:49Speaker 2: When I was in my bedroom, my mom called, uh
- 18:53Speaker 2: and she wanted to update me on my father's health condition.
- 18:56Speaker 2: We don't get any information on that. He sat down,
- 18:58Speaker 2: so I got to take those He's like, so I
- 19:00Speaker 2: moved my boxing appointment back. I had to sit literally
- 19:03Speaker 2: sat down in the bedroom. Didn't want to ruin their date.
- 19:07Speaker 2: Sat in the bedroom and talked for forty five minutes
- 19:08Speaker 2: to my mom on the phone. Then I was going
- 19:11Speaker 2: to sneak out. That was the plan.
- 19:12Speaker 1: He couldn't take this call on the on the like,
- 19:15Speaker 1: walking Ross says, So Samite don't know he was in
- 19:19Speaker 1: the bedroom this whole time. She goes, I had no
- 19:21Speaker 1: idea he was there. No, he really snuck in. Yeah,
- 19:24Speaker 1: And he goes, why did you light a candle though
- 19:27Speaker 1: in the apartment that you guys shared that you knew
- 19:30Speaker 1: would be that He's told you would be sensitive, And
- 19:32Speaker 1: Samantha says, I heard on the radio that the smell
- 19:36Speaker 1: of pumpkin pie makes women seem more attractive to men.
- 19:41Speaker 1: So I got one of those candles and was gonna
- 19:44Speaker 1: cook Chris a meal. I love the honesty there, right,
- 19:49Speaker 1: I love the honest corner law. She could make up
- 19:52Speaker 1: any excuse she wants. And she's like, nah, and you
- 19:55Speaker 1: know what my thought process would be. I'll light it now,
- 19:58Speaker 1: you know, I'll make sure that it that I blow
- 20:00Speaker 1: it out, plenty of time for that smell to dissipate,
- 20:03Speaker 1: maybe open a window, like there's ways to go about it,
- 20:06Speaker 1: you know.
- 20:06Speaker 2: So Ross says, well, couldn't you have done this at
- 20:08Speaker 2: Chris's place because you know that your cohabitant, the roommate
- 20:12Speaker 2: on the lease, can't have the smell. And she says, well,
- 20:16Speaker 2: we weren't official yet. So I was trying to make
- 20:18Speaker 2: this a special night. I was going to cook for him,
- 20:21Speaker 2: set it ambiance, and it was my night with the apartment.
- 20:24Speaker 2: So I did everything I thought I should do. And
- 20:28Speaker 2: he says, but you do know about your roommates asthma.
- 20:33Speaker 1: You know about it. Samantha says, yes, I do. The
- 20:36Speaker 1: idea of it.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Terrence says, yeah, we'll get there. Terrence says, so I
- 20:39Speaker 2: come out of the room and I see them boot
- 20:41Speaker 2: up on the couch. That's what he says, boot up
- 20:44Speaker 2: on the yes, and he goes, that's my space. If
- 20:48Speaker 2: the bed's her space, that's my space. This isn't your day, bro,
- 20:52Speaker 2: He goes, So, I said something. Now, his thing is
- 20:54Speaker 2: that I can't bring a girl in the bed. You
- 20:57Speaker 2: can't boot up on the couch. So tough spot. Does
- 21:00Speaker 2: she have a TV in her room?
- 21:01Speaker 1: I don't know?
- 21:02Speaker 2: So and he goes, she told me she cooked all
- 21:05Speaker 2: smel was that candle and I immediately smelled the candle.
- 21:08Speaker 1: And I was like uh oh, and I walked out.
- 21:09Speaker 1: I was like, I'm getting out of here. So I walked.
- 21:12Speaker 2: I go to the gym. One of the trainers saw
- 21:15Speaker 2: I was having an asthma attack and took me to
- 21:17Speaker 2: the hospital. And I have the bills. I have the
- 21:20Speaker 2: hospital bills here he.
- 21:22Speaker 1: Had he started the workout yet.
- 21:24Speaker 2: No, he got to the gym immediately they noticed it.
- 21:27Speaker 2: Ross said, when's the last time he had an asthma attack?
- 21:29Speaker 2: High school? And now he's twenty two years old. That's
- 21:32Speaker 2: what he said. He does have bills from the hospital.
- 21:34Speaker 2: So Ross goes, Samantha, what do you have to say
- 21:36Speaker 2: about this? Like you lit the candle he was in there,
- 21:38Speaker 2: blah blah blah. She goes, well, I assumed, first of all,
- 21:41Speaker 2: you need to know I didn't know it was there.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Second of all, I texted him that it wasn't his night.
- 21:46Speaker 2: Third of all, I assumed he'd be an adult and
- 21:48Speaker 2: to manage his medical condition on his own. He would
- 21:51Speaker 2: have preventive measure that every asthma asthmatic has, and she's
- 21:55Speaker 2: very well spoken, every asthmatic has, which is and inhaler.
- 21:58Speaker 2: He does not own an inhaler. I've never seen him
- 22:01Speaker 2: with an ast.
- 22:02Speaker 1: I agree that he doesn't own an He does not
- 22:05Speaker 1: own an inhaler. If he knows he has asthma, he
- 22:08Speaker 1: should have prevented measures on hand at all times. Ross says,
- 22:12Speaker 1: do you believe you exercised a reasonable duty of your
- 22:15Speaker 1: care for your fellow tenant? She says, I feel like
- 22:18Speaker 1: I did. It was my date night. He wasn't supposed
- 22:20Speaker 1: to be there, and furthermore, he wasn't carrying inhaler. Ross
- 22:23Speaker 1: is ready to rule, it's this is tough. Eleven hundred bones. Yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: this is tough. I mean personally, my thought process on
- 22:31Speaker 1: this is is her night. She should be able to
- 22:33Speaker 1: light a candle she wants to, because I do believe
- 22:37Speaker 1: that there are ways to get that fragrance out of
- 22:40Speaker 1: there in time for your uh, you know, roommates to
- 22:44Speaker 1: come home, and he wasn't supposed to be there in
- 22:46Speaker 1: the first place. There were so many ways that he
- 22:49Speaker 1: could have gone about getting his box, so many there
- 22:51Speaker 1: are so many ways that he could have had a
- 22:52Speaker 1: conversation with his mom, not in that room, could have
- 22:57Speaker 1: had it, you know, assuming he's not on the landline,
- 22:59Speaker 1: you know, could have done it in any number of ways.
- 23:03Speaker 1: I listen, I understand where he's coming from, but I
- 23:07Speaker 1: think I don't think this is her fault, and I'm
- 23:10Speaker 1: not going to give him any money.
- 23:11Speaker 2: As Ross would say, the gavel has to come down
- 23:13Speaker 2: in favor of the plaintiff.
- 23:15Speaker 1: Uh huh, yeah, he says.
- 23:17Speaker 2: Listen, you may have had a deal with him, not
- 23:19Speaker 2: written down through text messages that it was your night.
- 23:22Speaker 2: You also may may have had all intentions of getting
- 23:27Speaker 2: rid of that fragrance before he came home. The reality
- 23:30Speaker 2: is is that you guys share a space, you cohabitate,
- 23:34Speaker 2: and you have known about his condition for over six months.
- 23:38Speaker 2: It is your job to make sure you exercise a
- 23:42Speaker 2: reasonable duty to his job in your apartment, regardless of Inhaler,
- 23:48Speaker 2: the javel falls in favor of the playoff. I don't know,
- 23:51Speaker 2: Terrence gets eleven hundred bucks. I couldn't believe it. I'm
- 23:54Speaker 2: not sure about that. I understand what he's saying. He
- 23:57Speaker 2: grills her heart at the end of this case. I
- 23:59Speaker 2: didn't put that in there because it would have given
- 24:00Speaker 2: it away. He grills her heart. You think you gave
- 24:03Speaker 2: a reasonable duty of care. You know he's got asthma.
- 24:05Speaker 2: You could choose any candle you want to choose. You
- 24:07Speaker 2: chose that one. Like he does a full bit with
- 24:09Speaker 2: her at the end. It's a whole thing.
- 24:13Speaker 1: Did her date find her more attractive because it's a candle?
- 24:15Speaker 2: I have no idea where her and Chris stand and
- 24:18Speaker 2: why it would take a pumpkin pie candle to.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Sway the sometimes one way or the other.
- 24:23Speaker 2: There electre wel my girlfriend, but that pumpkin smell O gosh.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I mean they were boot up, So boot up on
- 24:32Speaker 1: the couch. Say what you will. We never make congratulations,
- 24:35Speaker 1: running back next time with another one. Until then, all
- 24:38Speaker 1: rise Yo.
