- 0:00Speaker 1: Good afternoon everybody, and welcome to the program here on
- 0:02Speaker 1: Sports Radio AM thirteen under the Zone. My name is
- 0:05Speaker 1: Craig Wait. Glad to have you with us on board
- 0:08Speaker 1: here on this Thursday afternoon. Us, of course includes the
- 0:11Speaker 1: producer of this program, Cameron D. Parker. The D stands
- 0:16Speaker 1: on the birth certificate for Dallas, as in his favorite
- 0:18Speaker 1: pro football team that he refuses to watch out of
- 0:21Speaker 1: the disgust he has, and maybe the D stands for that.
- 0:27Speaker 1: But he's kept pretty busy these days with the duties
- 0:31Speaker 1: here at the station and with our Long Warn Radio
- 0:33Speaker 1: network from Learfield Basketball broadcast and as the host along
- 0:38Speaker 1: with my Cardball Herte and Mark Henry on our Long
- 0:41Speaker 1: Warns game day coverage which includes this Saturday from the
- 0:47Speaker 1: hook them hangout along Bevo Boulevard in the Winship Circle
- 0:51Speaker 1: there in Austin, and that will start at eight a m.
- 0:58Speaker 1: On Saturday. How's that hit?
- 0:59Speaker 2: The Yeah, D stands for double espresso shot, a Starbucks order.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Starbucks and inconceivable today we got a Starbucks item and
- 1:08Speaker 1: inconceivable today.
- 1:10Speaker 2: But no excited to be back at DKR. You know,
- 1:12Speaker 2: deacons in for DKR as well. The one hundredth anniversary
- 1:16Speaker 2: of Darryl K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium this weekend. How
- 1:20Speaker 2: about that one hundred years of DKR. So it's gonna
- 1:24Speaker 2: be a fun week. It's been three weeks since Texas
- 1:27Speaker 2: last played a football game at home, and a lot
- 1:30Speaker 2: to prove, coreig a lot to proove with this Texas
- 1:32Speaker 2: football team. At the loss to Georgia you get by Vanderbilt,
- 1:36Speaker 2: people are starting to doubt them. And I'm anticipating we're
- 1:40Speaker 2: going to see a very focused, in hungry football team
- 1:42Speaker 2: on Saturday as they begin a closing four week stretch
- 1:45Speaker 2: that begins with Florida and ends with the Texas A
- 1:49Speaker 2: and M fighting Aggies. And by the end of that
- 1:51Speaker 2: we'll know this is a college football playoff team, but
- 1:53Speaker 2: the SEC championship team perhaps.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm gonna say this and it'll bring about a
- 2:00Speaker 1: collective eye roll, and that's cool. I get it. I
- 2:06Speaker 1: think people have kind of underrated Vanderbilt a little bit. Yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 1: they took Missouri to double overtime on the road, should
- 2:12Speaker 1: have won the game at a couple of kicking game mistakes. Yes,
- 2:14Speaker 1: they had an ugly earlier season loss to Georgia State.
- 2:17Speaker 1: They did. They also have a win for Alabama, and
- 2:20Speaker 1: they played Texas tough at home and they won on
- 2:23Speaker 1: the road in the SEC at Auburn. Let's see how
- 2:25Speaker 1: they do against South Carolina this week. The game is
- 2:27Speaker 1: in Nashville. We'll see on that they're already Bowl eligible.
- 2:31Speaker 1: They are nashally ranked. So for people who say that
- 2:33Speaker 1: Texas is meeting, the team has not beaten any teams
- 2:36Speaker 1: that are that are ranked any longer talking about Michigan
- 2:40Speaker 1: or Oklahoma, that would be incorrect. Vnderbield is ranked, and
- 2:43Speaker 1: I'm not saying that they're world beaters or anything like that.
- 2:46Speaker 1: I'm just saying it proved to be a difficult change.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And even then, the long Orange control a lot of
- 2:52Speaker 1: that game, but the penalties and you know, and then
- 2:55Speaker 1: the late touchdown drive and all that led and the
- 2:58Speaker 1: fact that Vanderbilts in the two Texas tip pass interceptions
- 3:02Speaker 1: and the touchdowns and the long wards did not cash
- 3:04Speaker 1: in the three Vanderbilt turnovers. That can turn a game
- 3:08Speaker 1: and make it interesting. But it's but when people say
- 3:11Speaker 1: Texas almost lost to Vanderbilt, no, they didn't almost lose.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Vanderbilt scored with under a minute to go to get
- 3:17Speaker 1: within three and then couldn't recover an on sidekick. I
- 3:19Speaker 1: don't call that as almost losing. Yeah, they had the
- 3:23Speaker 1: early seven to nothing lead, and then Texas had twenty
- 3:26Speaker 1: one and a sered points after that before Vanderbilt made
- 3:29Speaker 1: it a little bit of a closer game then, and
- 3:31Speaker 1: then Texas kind of kept them at arm's length until
- 3:34Speaker 1: those late moments of the game. But bottom line is,
- 3:37Speaker 1: you went on the road, you move on. Vanderbilt did
- 3:39Speaker 1: that and they're back home. Texas did that, and coming
- 3:42Speaker 1: off a bye week, they're at home to take on
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Florida Gators. It's an interesting Florida team. You know. Me,
- 3:50Speaker 1: I'm not much into the into the wagering lines, but
- 3:53Speaker 1: somebody told me a little while ago that it's like
- 3:58Speaker 1: minus twenty one Florida. Yeah.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I believe it opened at twenty one and a half.
- 4:03Speaker 1: Yeah. I am not an expert on any of that stuff.
- 4:09Speaker 1: I always say that first, I do not regularly converse
- 4:13Speaker 1: with the boys in the desert that sort of thing,
- 4:16Speaker 1: But I just think that's a little elevated when you
- 4:19Speaker 1: look at what Florida has day. Anyway, we'll talk more
- 4:21Speaker 1: about that coming up. We've got that to get to.
- 4:24Speaker 2: That line is the Aiden Wagner or Aiden Warner starting QUARTERB.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah line, yeah, yeah, the Aiden Warner line. Yeah. And
- 4:33Speaker 1: Sean Kelly, played by play voice of the Florida Gators,
- 4:36Speaker 1: was on with us yesterday to say that they were
- 4:38Speaker 1: still working on DJ Lagway to see if he might,
- 4:43Speaker 1: you know, be able to go that you know, he
- 4:46Speaker 1: might have an opportunity. What does the player availability report
- 4:50Speaker 1: say about Florida?
- 4:50Speaker 2: He was questionable, That's what I thought. But you know,
- 4:53Speaker 2: I said this to a friend. Remember when Quinn Yours
- 4:55Speaker 2: had that entry his first year and Stark said he
- 4:58Speaker 2: was day to day and you missed what like four weeks?
- 5:00Speaker 1: He called him week to week, is what he said.
- 5:03Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't see how Logway's playing this game that
- 5:07Speaker 2: this is purely gamesmanship, purely, Hey, let's just try and
- 5:10Speaker 2: have Texas prepare for two quarterbacks same way that T.
- 5:14Speaker 2: Sark would not rule out quin Yours early on in
- 5:16Speaker 2: the week. But I anticipate that the injury report either
- 5:21Speaker 2: tonight or tomorrow will have him as doubtful or out.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Maybe I'll be wrong and I'll eatcro but there's no
- 5:29Speaker 2: way he He was carted off the field last week.
- 5:32Speaker 2: Craig he was carted off the field. He's gonna be
- 5:34Speaker 2: playing football a week later against his Texas defense.
- 5:37Speaker 1: Okay, well here's the other thing too. They could leave
- 5:41Speaker 1: him listed as questionable questionable supposedly fifty to fifty. They
- 5:44Speaker 1: could leave him listed as questionable. That's how it was
- 5:48Speaker 1: with Queen Youwers. It was questionable I think all the
- 5:51Speaker 1: way up to game one of the weeks up to
- 5:53Speaker 1: game time at maybe the Mississippi State game possibly and
- 5:56Speaker 1: then and then unavailable. So he's listed as questionable. The
- 6:02Speaker 1: running back Montreal Johnson Junior's listed is questionable. Damian George,
- 6:07Speaker 1: the huge guard from Galena Park, No. North Shore, who
- 6:11Speaker 1: I saw play on a couple of state championship teams
- 6:14Speaker 1: and then started at Alabama and transferred in is listed
- 6:18Speaker 1: as questionable. So we'll keep an eye on that. It's funny.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Here's if you needed any other reason, no other reason,
- 6:30Speaker 1: if you had to have another reason for why it's
- 6:33Speaker 1: called the SEC's student Athlete Availability report instead of the
- 6:38Speaker 1: injury report. Take a look at the Texas win. Vernon
- 6:41Speaker 1: Broughton out first half. Yep, that's availability. That's not injury.
- 6:46Speaker 1: That's because of the targeting call in the fourth quarter
- 6:48Speaker 1: of the Vanderbilt game. So he's going to be out.
- 6:50Speaker 1: I asked Sark last night on Long Worn Weekly, you'll
- 6:54Speaker 1: be able to hear the program tonight at seven o'clock.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I kind of did a follow up to what was
- 7:01Speaker 1: asked of him in the press conference on Monday about
- 7:03Speaker 1: Vernon brought and how do you prepare knowing you're not
- 7:07Speaker 1: going to have him? How much prep does he get?
- 7:10Speaker 1: How does how does all that work? And he talked
- 7:13Speaker 1: about it in the tale like he did on Monday
- 7:15Speaker 1: as well. So he's listed on that. Isaiah Bond is
- 7:20Speaker 1: listed as probable, and I think we'll see him. He's
- 7:24Speaker 1: he's been able to practice this week, and so that's
- 7:26Speaker 1: that's good. That's a healthy sign. Andrew mccooba, while questionable
- 7:31Speaker 1: maybe updated, upgraded and probable by tomorrow. Well you're going
- 7:35Speaker 1: to hear Sark talk about that coming up. This of course,
- 7:38Speaker 1: being Thursday, it means Thursday, of course is the Sark
- 7:45Speaker 1: Zoom media availability. We're back on that regular schedule now
- 7:50Speaker 1: where Monday have Long Horns Monday and we broadcast live
- 7:56Speaker 1: from from campus at eleven am and then eleven thirty
- 8:00Speaker 1: is Sark's weekly press conference and then we bring him
- 8:06Speaker 1: the sound from that, we're bringing the press conference live
- 8:08Speaker 1: and then highlights of that during this program. And then
- 8:12Speaker 1: on Wednesday is the SEC teleconference we had that Sark
- 8:16Speaker 1: was on that, and then he was chuckling about the
- 8:20Speaker 1: same thing cam that you and I were chuckling about
- 8:23Speaker 1: yesterday that nobody but nobody asked him about the college
- 8:29Speaker 1: football playoff revealed the first one and you're like eighteen
- 8:34Speaker 1: hours removed from that, and no, like fourteen hours I
- 8:41Speaker 1: guess whatever, But nobody asked him about it on the
- 8:46Speaker 1: SEC teleconference yesterday, and yet he was he was amused
- 8:50Speaker 1: by the fact that somebody asked him about the injury thing.
- 8:52Speaker 1: He's like, you're gonna find out we have an injury
- 8:54Speaker 1: report that's coming out later day. Why waste a question
- 8:57Speaker 1: on that? I think was his words on that. But
- 9:01Speaker 1: in talking about things on the media Zoom this morning,
- 9:06Speaker 1: he gave an encouraging update on Andrew mccuba. We'll hear
- 9:11Speaker 1: that coming up because on Thursday he does the media
- 9:13Speaker 1: zom final opportunity of the week for the local and
- 9:17Speaker 1: the few who are part of it outside the Greater
- 9:22Speaker 1: Austin area. The local reporters, you will say, you might
- 9:25Speaker 1: say the Beat reporters. He'll give it update on that
- 9:28Speaker 1: and talk about some other things, including the fact that
- 9:30Speaker 1: John T. Cook is no longer on the football team.
- 9:33Speaker 1: He'll talk about that. Also. We have inconceivable, as I mentioned,
- 9:39Speaker 1: this hour coming up, but we'll hear from Sark in
- 9:41Speaker 1: all three hours. We're gonna have to talk about some NBA.
- 9:45Speaker 1: Your thunder is not going eighty two and oh. I
- 9:47Speaker 1: asked you yesterday if they were going eighty two and oh,
- 9:50Speaker 1: and you said they might, but it didn't happen. We'll
- 9:53Speaker 1: get to that and talk about the Spurs and talking
- 9:55Speaker 1: about the Mavericks and Rockets. So we'll get to all
- 9:58Speaker 1: of that. So we've got a lot to get to
- 10:00Speaker 1: the program this afternoon, and we're glad to have you
- 10:02Speaker 1: with us. If you like to, you know, check in
- 10:06Speaker 1: with us, you can do it a couple of different ways. One,

- 10:21Speaker 1: comment to eight one five three zero. Standard messaging and
- 10:25Speaker 1: data rates may apply. So you text the word texts
