- 0:00Speaker 1: Now back to the Mark Simon Show on WR.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Hey, let's take some calls eight hundred three two one
- 0:09Speaker 2: zero seven ten is and then let's go to Bob
- 0:11Speaker 2: in Montvale, New Jersey. Bob, how you doing good? Mark?
- 0:16Speaker 1: Thanks for taking my call. And just as an awareness,
- 0:19Speaker 1: I hope everybody's okay on the Red Cup. But Thursday
- 0:23Speaker 1: there's a big rally in Brooklyn later on today, Chris,
- 0:26Speaker 1: they're on strike.
- 0:27Speaker 2: What are you talking about?
- 0:28Speaker 1: Union? No coffee, old Starbucks. Oh, I hope it's going
- 0:33Speaker 1: to be extra angry libs out there today.
- 0:35Speaker 2: Be careful, please, Oh what would you say? Red Cup?
- 0:39Speaker 1: It's today?
- 0:40Speaker 2: Is there?
- 0:41Speaker 1: Red Cup? Thursday day that they kick off their holiday
- 0:44Speaker 1: and the baristas are on strike. Yeah, of course, I
- 0:48Speaker 1: guess thirty dollars an hour isn't enough.
- 0:51Speaker 2: And yeah, that's a good point. You know. I gave
- 0:53Speaker 2: up on Starbucks. Actually since we moved into our new
- 0:57Speaker 2: place here because the kitchen is right down there, we
- 1:00Speaker 2: got like twelve different coffee machines and make you any
- 1:02Speaker 2: kind of coffee you want, it's free. They got like
- 1:05Speaker 2: forty seven different brands of coffee you can choose. And
- 1:08Speaker 2: I imagine a lot of people where they go to
- 1:10Speaker 2: work in a nice, big office. But the coffee's free.
- 1:14Speaker 2: Why would just stand in line at Starbucks and pay
- 1:16Speaker 2: twelve dollars or something? And it's like getting coffee from
- 1:19Speaker 2: the motor vehicle department. You wait in line. Finally you
- 1:22Speaker 2: get up there, you place your order. Now they say,
- 1:24Speaker 2: all right, now go over there and wait in that
- 1:27Speaker 2: line to go get it. It's like motor vehicle. Here's
- 1:29Speaker 2: your temporary coffee. You'll get the real coffee in that
- 1:31Speaker 2: line over there. It's absolutely ridiculous. And you always get
- 1:35Speaker 2: in the line behind that one guy with the most
- 1:38Speaker 2: complicated order, and it takes forever. And you know, and
- 1:44Speaker 2: they have food at Starbucks. But you notice the food
- 1:47Speaker 2: case got smaller. It used to be like the whole counter.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Now it's like a little tiny section. And it's avoid Starbucks.
- 1:56Speaker 2: You know. There's all these other places springing up. What's
- 1:58Speaker 2: the one over there? I can't remember. There's one right
- 2:02Speaker 2: across the street, Blank Street. Blank Street is a great
- 2:04Speaker 2: one that they're bringing up all over the place. Gregory's
- 2:06Speaker 2: coffee is pretty good. Hey, and dunkin Donuts. Dunkin Donuts
- 2:12Speaker 2: has much better coffee than Starbucks. It tastes much better
- 2:15Speaker 2: than Starbucks. I mean, I wouldn't exactly hire their decorator.
- 2:19Speaker 2: I mean, they're the most depressing looking stories you've ever seen.
- 2:21Speaker 2: But the coffee is great. It's probably the best coffee
- 2:25Speaker 2: you can get dunkin Donuts. It's one tenth the price
- 2:27Speaker 2: of Starbucks. And everybody that works there looks like they're
- 2:30Speaker 2: gonna kill themselves as soon as you leave. They don't
- 2:32Speaker 2: look too thrilled. But but it's much better coffee. Let's
- 2:37Speaker 2: go to Aaron in Indianapolis. Erin, how you doing, good morning, Mark.
- 2:43Speaker 3: I'm sure you saw some of the clips of Gavin
- 2:46Speaker 3: Newsom partying with the indigenous folks in Brazil.
- 2:50Speaker 2: Well, listen, let the guy enjoy himself.
- 2:53Speaker 3: Well, my point is that I think he should return
- 2:56Speaker 3: the favor and treat them to the French Laundry.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Well, that's a famous Thomas Keller restaurant out in California
- 3:03Speaker 2: in the middle of the pandemic, when you were not
- 3:05Speaker 2: allowed to go to a restaurant, he was seen at
- 3:07Speaker 2: the French Laundry, which is it doesn't sound very good,
- 3:10Speaker 2: the French laundry, but it's one of the most expensive,
- 3:13Speaker 2: one of maybe the ten best restaurants in the world,
- 3:16Speaker 2: and there he was. Now this other problem is his
- 3:18Speaker 2: campaign director got caught embezzling funds a quarter of a
- 3:23Speaker 2: million dollars. It's not his fault, Gavin Newsom, and there's
- 3:30Speaker 2: no governor or candidate goes line by line over the
- 3:33Speaker 2: accounting stuff. But it's the guy he picked, so reflects
- 3:37Speaker 2: on him. Let's go to Dave in Chicago. Dave, how
- 3:40Speaker 2: you doing. Good morning, Mark.
- 3:42Speaker 4: I'm doing very well.
- 3:43Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Mark.
- 3:44Speaker 4: We all know that Chuck Schumer's career was over, as
- 3:47Speaker 4: well as his fake Sunday press conferences.
- 3:50Speaker 3: So I have to ask, first of all, if he writes.
- 3:53Speaker 4: A book, will he go on the liberal networks to
- 3:57Speaker 4: promote it? Secondly, will he get hired as a commentary
- 4:02Speaker 4: And when people touches him and Kamala Harris write books,
- 4:06Speaker 4: are they artificially inflated for The New York Times by
- 4:10Speaker 4: having people buying thousands of copies?
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yes, that can be done. All good questions. If Chuck
- 4:15Speaker 2: Schumer writes a book, nothing will happen. Nobody will buy it.
- 4:18Speaker 2: We just tested that about six months ago. Remember he
- 4:21Speaker 2: wrote that book. What's it called anti Semitism? Here's the
- 4:24Speaker 2: guy who looked the other way when the worst anti Semitism,
- 4:29Speaker 2: the most frightening anti semitism, was taking place on our
- 4:31Speaker 2: college campuses in his district, and he looked the other way.
- 4:34Speaker 2: He left town, ran away. Then he has a gall
- 4:37Speaker 2: to write a book called anti Semitism. It didn't sell.
- 4:40Speaker 2: He's a disaster. No, he cannot get a job as
- 4:42Speaker 2: a TV commentator because he's an old, depressing, fossil old
- 4:46Speaker 2: dinosaur who just sounds awful talking. That's why he always
- 4:51Speaker 2: reads everything off these index cards. What's the other question? Oh,
- 4:55Speaker 2: if he leaves, you know, if he leaves as bad
- 4:58Speaker 2: as he is, you can get somebody worse. Is senate
- 5:01Speaker 2: to minority leader. You're going to get like a Chris Murphy,
- 5:04Speaker 2: that real dirty, uh, you know, lying, thieving, rotten Connecticut senator.
- 5:10Speaker 2: And then speaking of Connecticut, you guys got Richard Blumenthal.
- 5:14Speaker 2: He's your Chuck Schumer. Just depressing old man. Uh. Let's
- 5:18Speaker 2: let's go to Jimmy and New Milford. Jimmy, how you doing.
- 5:23Speaker 5: Thanks, Good morning, Mark. Mark. You know the way you
- 5:25Speaker 5: were saying that every time it turned around, people were
- 5:28Speaker 5: saying that Curtis can't When Curtis can't win.
- 5:32Speaker 3: Curtis can't win.
- 5:33Speaker 5: You know, I love w All and I love the DJs.
- 5:37Speaker 5: But the problem is, I think when they always have
- 5:40Speaker 5: to repeat or they're a bad You know, the nuts
- 5:44Speaker 5: are saying about Donald Trump. You know you got to say,
- 5:48Speaker 5: uh course they have to say to lad, who's ever
- 5:52Speaker 5: saying anything bad? They have to repeat it to make
- 5:55Speaker 5: the point. You know, look at what they're saying.
- 5:58Speaker 1: WHOA.
- 5:58Speaker 5: But I'm so sick to it.
- 6:00Speaker 2: We're talking about it. Oh do you know what he said?
- 6:05Speaker 2: I don't know what he said. He's sounded good. He's
- 6:08Speaker 2: got a good voice. It said something catchy about his way.
- 6:10Speaker 2: You like listening to him. But I have no idea
- 6:12Speaker 2: what you're talking about. But and did he say? The
- 6:14Speaker 2: DJs at w R I think the last DJ here
- 6:20Speaker 2: I'm trying to remember, well, it would have been somewhere
- 6:23Speaker 2: in John Gambling. I think he used to play music.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Gene Claven used to be here in the afternoons. He
- 6:28Speaker 2: played music. But I think that was in the late seventies,
- 6:31Speaker 2: so I don't think we've had a DJ since then.
- 6:34Speaker 2: When we come back, we'll see if we can talk
- 6:36Speaker 2: to Steve Moore. I think he'll show up Steve Moore.
- 6:39Speaker 2: The brilliant Economists will be with us next on seven
- 6:42Speaker 2: to ten wo r
