- 0:05Speaker 1: NFL Now is a production of the NFL in partnership
- 0:08Speaker 1: with I Heart Radio. You take down along, get chase
- 0:16Speaker 1: straight ahead and got into the end zone. Touchdown, Mr Relevant.
- 0:25Speaker 1: I'll get the show out of this. I'm let it
- 0:30Speaker 1: catch bat your heart's kiddo, Mahomes, Magic, Deebo, Samuel all
- 0:34Speaker 1: the way and the dynamite had set dated early with
- 0:37Speaker 1: Christian McCaffrey. Try to run forward and go to the
- 0:40Speaker 1: episode standing down and party baby, let's go, let's it fly.
- 0:45Speaker 1: He is going deep and it has cut for a
- 0:47Speaker 1: cut that ain't j Brown. Sam Hubbard scooped it up
- 0:51Speaker 1: and ran the length of the field, as the Great
- 1:05Speaker 1: Tim Ryan said right there down in Purty. Welcome to
- 1:08Speaker 1: NFL Now on NFL Network. That is Brian Balding or
- 1:10Speaker 1: Omar Ruiz. My name is Andrew Ceciliano. Coming up and
- 1:14Speaker 1: update on Patrick Mahomes ankle. We will do this every
- 1:17Speaker 1: day until Sunday. Also coming up the coaching carousel, it
- 1:23Speaker 1: continues to spin. Are we any closer to actually getting
- 1:26Speaker 1: a higher gentleman? Happy Tuesday before Championship Sunday to both
- 1:30Speaker 1: of you. It feels good. It feels good like this
- 1:32Speaker 1: is the build up you know, we're just getting in
- 1:34Speaker 1: that process and it's a lot of fun because we
- 1:36Speaker 1: I think we got the four best teams standing right now,
- 1:39Speaker 1: and that's all you can ask for. Championship Tuesday's legacy
- 1:42Speaker 1: time in the NFL right now. Guys trying to get
- 1:44Speaker 1: to the super Bowl, some guys for the first time,
- 1:46Speaker 1: sometimes for multiple times. That's what's all about here. Andrew
- 1:49Speaker 1: tom Brady has been there before. The question is is
- 1:51Speaker 1: he gonna get back there? And if so, with whom?
- 1:54Speaker 1: A lot of eyebrows raised, a lot of what was
- 1:58Speaker 1: he really trying to say here? After yesterday, Tom Brady
- 2:03Speaker 1: on his own podcast with his pal Jim Gray, said this, Tom,
- 2:11Speaker 1: you're leaving everybody guessing. Uh. You've said you'll take your time.
- 2:14Speaker 1: Do you have any type of a timetable as to
- 2:16Speaker 1: what you might want to do regarding your football career? Jim,
- 2:21Speaker 1: if I knew what I was gonna do, woud've already
- 2:23Speaker 1: done it. Okay, I'm taking a day at a time.
- 2:27Speaker 1: I appreciate you asking. Thank you. I can tell I
- 2:35Speaker 1: don't send sarcasm there. Um. I listened to that thing.
- 2:41Speaker 1: Most Mondays. It's nationally broadcast, it's on sirious sex m
- 2:45Speaker 1: and what always strikes me in the past is he
- 2:48Speaker 1: has an answer ready, like to say he threw a
- 2:50Speaker 1: tablet on Sunday, he has something witty to say. He
- 2:53Speaker 1: knows how to distract on money. This is coming, so
- 2:59Speaker 1: why react? Tom Brady is intentional and he's about everything
- 3:04Speaker 1: in his life. And I think he might be making
- 3:06Speaker 1: the rounds for eight for Brady, his new movie that's
- 3:09Speaker 1: coming up. Obviously he's a spokesman for his own brands,
- 3:12Speaker 1: TV twelve and the Brady brand. I think he's just
- 3:15Speaker 1: setting the tone in a friendly environment. Of course, goes
- 3:18Speaker 1: way back Jim Gray. He had a little chuckle there
- 3:21Speaker 1: at the end, but setting the tone for all these
- 3:23Speaker 1: interviews that he might be doing this month leading up
- 3:26Speaker 1: to the movie, or maybe it's on Super Bowl radio row.
- 3:29Speaker 1: I don't see him doing that, but you know, likely
- 3:31Speaker 1: promotion for the film, but setting the tone that, hey,
- 3:33Speaker 1: he doesn't want to talk about it. If you do,
- 3:36Speaker 1: you might get a hostile reaction from him. So tread
- 3:39Speaker 1: lightly baldy, hostile or salty. Salty seemed a little bit
- 3:43Speaker 1: uh uh more accurate right there. You know, he always
- 3:46Speaker 1: has a purpose behind everything he does and so he's
- 3:50Speaker 1: getting He probably wants to give you the impression that
- 3:54Speaker 1: he's already tired of the question that's gonna be asked
- 3:57Speaker 1: everywhere he goes, and so until he finds a landing spot,
- 4:00Speaker 1: if there is one, that's what we're gonna get. You know,
- 4:04Speaker 1: the questions coming. It is very very easy to say, Jim,
- 4:07Speaker 1: loving the time with my family, loving the time. It's
- 4:10Speaker 1: been a great week, spending time with the kids. Looking
- 4:12Speaker 1: at the ocean. By the way, on Instagram Stories today,
- 4:15Speaker 1: Brady posted a picture of the ocean and a little heart,
- 4:18Speaker 1: maybe trying to send the message, hey, I'm breathing, okay,
- 4:21Speaker 1: likes not the end of the world, but still I
- 4:23Speaker 1: think we're all together. That was for a reason, he
- 4:27Speaker 1: was sending some kind of message. What that message was,
- 4:29Speaker 1: other than leave me the leap alone, remains to be seen.
- 4:34Speaker 1: All right, Let's get to Patrick Mahomes and his ankle.
- 4:38Speaker 1: He's gonna play, that's what Andy Reid says, gonna play
- 4:41Speaker 1: on his sprained right ankle, a high ankle sprain, an
- 4:46Speaker 1: injury that you know, quite often we see players go
- 4:50Speaker 1: on injured reserve. For now, listen, no one's suggesting he
- 4:56Speaker 1: needs surgery. Injured reserve, and obviously none of us are
- 4:59Speaker 1: doctors here. There are different levels of severity. Mike Garafolo,
- 5:03Speaker 1: Tom Tela sera when it come the high ankle sprains,
- 5:07Speaker 1: but Tom Andrew Reid was pretty clear yesterday he should
- 5:11Speaker 1: be able to go. Notably, Andrew Andy Reid said that
- 5:16Speaker 1: this high ankle sprain for Patrick Mahomes is not as
- 5:20Speaker 1: severe as the one that he suffered in Week one
- 5:22Speaker 1: of the nineteen season. Seven days after that injury, Mahomes
- 5:26Speaker 1: went out and threw for four or forty three yards
- 5:28Speaker 1: and four touchdowns in a blowout win over the Raiders,
- 5:31Speaker 1: So certainly it's something to monitor. Mahomes in essence, finished
- 5:35Speaker 1: the game last weekend, hopping around on one leg at times.
- 5:38Speaker 1: He's gonna undergo a lot of treatment through the week.
- 5:41Speaker 1: Unclear how much, if any, practice time he's going to get,
- 5:44Speaker 1: but Mike, as Reid said, Patrick has done some pretty
- 5:47Speaker 1: amazing things on limited time before well, and he's gonna
- 5:51Speaker 1: have limited mobility. So if you've got Chad Henny running
- 5:55Speaker 1: your practices this week while Mahomes is getting rehab, or
- 5:58Speaker 1: maybe even if Mahomes is limited and hen he's taken
- 6:01Speaker 1: some other reps as well. At least you're gonna have
- 6:03Speaker 1: a quarterback back there was to be somewhat stationary and
- 6:06Speaker 1: you get that kind of rep uh in the week
- 6:10Speaker 1: leading up to the game this coming Sunday. So that
- 6:13Speaker 1: should at least allow for some of that consistency. Now.
- 6:15Speaker 1: They do have confidence in Chad Henny as well if
- 6:18Speaker 1: they need him. I mean that's why when he went
- 6:20Speaker 1: in the game, Hendy Reid called the pass on the
- 6:22Speaker 1: first play that Henny was under center. So, uh, if
- 6:25Speaker 1: they need him to do whatever he needs to do,
- 6:28Speaker 1: that's why he's been around for what one to three
- 6:30Speaker 1: or four or five years now at this point. Uh,
- 6:33Speaker 1: we'll see about that. But Mahomes should be able to go,
- 6:36Speaker 1: just won't be able to move around like we're quite
- 6:39Speaker 1: used to seeing him able to move, and he'll have
- 6:40Speaker 1: to find other ways to be creative and dynamic from
- 6:43Speaker 1: the pocket. Andrew, there's some great stuff, some great audio
- 6:46Speaker 1: that NFL Films has that's going to be on inside
- 6:50Speaker 1: the NFL streaming tonight on Paramount Plus, where Mahomes is
- 6:53Speaker 1: on the sideline saying, Hey, can I go back in?
- 6:55Speaker 1: Can I go back in? And my good am, I
- 6:56Speaker 1: good am? My good. But there's also scenes where it
- 6:59Speaker 1: looks like Byron left which his teammates at Marshall trying
- 7:01Speaker 1: to pick him up and carry him down the field
- 7:03Speaker 1: at times. So how that reacts on Sunday a week
- 7:07Speaker 1: later remains to be seen. Thank Tom, Pank and Mike
- 7:09Speaker 1: both coming back shortly here on this Tuesday edition of
- 7:12Speaker 1: the NFL. Now, if you haven't heard by now, Joe
- 7:15Speaker 1: Burrow is undefeated against Patrick Mahomes. Except they're not really
- 7:17Speaker 1: starting pitchers. It doesn't work like that. But still, for
- 7:20Speaker 1: the sake of historical context, we will throw this on
- 7:23Speaker 1: the screen. Uh. There's a different level of context here,
- 7:27Speaker 1: Brian Baldinger, and that is how much Mahomes does outside
- 7:30Speaker 1: the pocket. As Tom and Mike were just saying. This year,
- 7:33Speaker 1: during the regular season, Mahomes led the league in past
- 7:36Speaker 1: attempts outside of the pocket with one d and twenty
- 7:40Speaker 1: four So when he is stationary, he's a different quarterback.
- 7:43Speaker 1: It's a different offense. Well it is, and um, you
- 7:46Speaker 1: know he's His ability to play beyond the xs and
- 7:49Speaker 1: os and extend plays and keep molive with his mobility
- 7:52Speaker 1: is something not many can do. I mean, Chad Henny
- 7:55Speaker 1: did take him ninety yards down the field, taking and
- 7:58Speaker 1: dunking and running the ball. Um Isaiah Pacheco's coming off
- 8:02Speaker 1: his best game as a pro at his longest running
- 8:04Speaker 1: the season of thirty nine yards. Jet McKinnon is the
- 8:08Speaker 1: best personal protector in this league. He'll be in the
- 8:10Speaker 1: backfield next to Mahomes quite a bit. Um. Look, you
- 8:14Speaker 1: might have to throw the ball quicker and shorter, and
- 8:17Speaker 1: maybe Kelsey does have to catch fourteen more passes for
- 8:20Speaker 1: this offense to move because you're not going to get
- 8:23Speaker 1: the big plays or the plays that get extended because
- 8:26Speaker 1: of his mobility. You're gonna have to play it a
- 8:28Speaker 1: different way. And that's the job this week of Andy Reid,
- 8:30Speaker 1: Eric b Enemy, Matt Negge put this game playing together.
- 8:33Speaker 1: I'm gonna expand on the point that Tom made given
- 8:35Speaker 1: the twenty nineteen comparisons to the ankle injury there that
- 8:39Speaker 1: was a first half ankle injury, came back in that game,
- 8:43Speaker 1: finished with three d seventy eight yards, three touchdowns, no interception,
- 8:47Speaker 1: zero sacks, and like Tom said, the very next week
- 8:49Speaker 1: against the Raiders, goes out and throws for more than
- 8:52Speaker 1: four hundred yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions. Now Taking
- 8:55Speaker 1: this a step further, this will be a storyline if
- 8:57Speaker 1: it goes to the Super Bowl week leading into that
- 9:00Speaker 1: game as well. So Week three of that twenty nineteen
- 9:03Speaker 1: season against the Ravens twenty seven of thirty seven, three
- 9:06Speaker 1: hundred seventy four yards, three touchdowns, was sacked once. He
- 9:10Speaker 1: ran the ball four times for nine yards. And if
- 9:12Speaker 1: he gets to the super Bowl, that'll be a Week four,
- 9:15Speaker 1: three weeks after the injury. That Week four against the
- 9:18Speaker 1: Lions twenty four forty two, three hundred fifteen yards, no touchdowns,
- 9:23Speaker 1: no interceptions, no sacks, he did run the ball six
- 9:26Speaker 1: times for fifty four yards. So if he does get
- 9:30Speaker 1: through this game against Cincinnati, and that's a big if
- 9:32Speaker 1: at this point, the way Cincinnati has played him over
- 9:34Speaker 1: the years, it will be something that they hope won't
- 9:37Speaker 1: be too much of an effect on Patrick mahomes greatness,
- 9:39Speaker 1: the way that Cincinnati has played them for years, in
- 9:42Speaker 1: the last couple of years, in the way that Cincinnati
- 9:44Speaker 1: played this past week as well. The Lou and Rumo
- 9:47Speaker 1: for President crowd right now is saying, okay, great, I
- 9:50Speaker 1: know where Mahomes is. Here comes Mike Hilton off the slot,
- 9:53Speaker 1: Here comes Low Hendrickson, right. It's one thing to say
- 9:58Speaker 1: he's played well in the past. All of those facts
- 10:00Speaker 1: are true. He is still superhuman at times. He's Patrick Mahomes,
- 10:04Speaker 1: but Cincinnati he is good on the other side. Bam,
- 10:06Speaker 1: we got all week to talk about this. Thank you, guys.
- 10:09Speaker 1: I mentioned the coaching CAROSL keeps on spinning. There are
- 10:12Speaker 1: these five open head coaching jobs. There are also many
- 10:16Speaker 1: an open offensive coordinator job as well, except we take
- 10:20Speaker 1: the Patriots off that list. Tom, that's right, Andrew, no
- 10:26Speaker 1: surprise here. Bill O'Brien is headed back to New England,
- 10:29Speaker 1: actually already there in the building and expected to be
- 10:32Speaker 1: named the Patriots offensive coordinator again. O'Brien was on the
- 10:36Speaker 1: Patriots staff from two thousand seven through before he left
- 10:40Speaker 1: to go to Penn State and then eventually to the
- 10:43Speaker 1: Houston Texans as their head coach. Fast couple of years
- 10:46Speaker 1: O'Brien has been at the University of Alabama, did not
- 10:50Speaker 1: coach Mac Jones there. O'Brien got in that building right
- 10:53Speaker 1: as Mac was headed into the NFL Draft. He would
- 10:56Speaker 1: certainly expect that they are going to speak a lot
- 10:58Speaker 1: of the same language, Mike, as the Patriots try to
- 11:01Speaker 1: get this offense and Mac Jones headed in the right direction. Yeah,
- 11:05Speaker 1: this is going to help the offense. This is going
- 11:07Speaker 1: to help Mac Jones. There's no doubt in my mind
- 11:09Speaker 1: that this offense is going to be better in the
- 11:12Speaker 1: season than it was in two because of Bill O'Brien.
- 11:15Speaker 1: I just can't wait, because I loved it years ago
- 11:19Speaker 1: when O'Brien and Tom Brady were screaming at each other
- 11:21Speaker 1: on the sideline. If mac Jones comes back frustrated after
- 11:25Speaker 1: a series and starts yelling like he did, what is
- 11:28Speaker 1: it that Thursday game against Buffalo? If he does that,
- 11:31Speaker 1: what's the reaction going to be from old tepot Bill
- 11:33Speaker 1: O'Brien looking forward to maybe another one of those was
- 11:36Speaker 1: being rehashed Andrew, Well, if they knew what they were
- 11:40Speaker 1: gonna bleeping do, they would bleeping do it by now, right,
- 11:43Speaker 1: Mike just saying and it is I'm glad it is
- 11:47Speaker 1: good to point out there. Tom, I'm glad you did that.
- 11:49Speaker 1: They did not overlap it. Maybe saw each other in
- 11:52Speaker 1: the building. Mac Jones and Bill O'Brien in Tuscaloosa. People
- 11:55Speaker 1: want to connect those two thought they worked together. No,
- 11:57Speaker 1: that was not necessarily the case. All right, we talked
- 11:59Speaker 1: a lot about the Cowboys yesterday, and we sat here
- 12:02Speaker 1: Mike McCarthy. If you believe Jerry Jones is definitely coming back.
- 12:05Speaker 1: What about his offensive coordinator Kelln Moore. He's on the
- 12:08Speaker 1: interview circuit, Tom. That's right, Andrew Kellen Moore interviewing today
- 12:14Speaker 1: for the Carolina Panthers head coaching job. This was an
- 12:17Speaker 1: interview that originally was scheduled for late last week. Than
- 12:21Speaker 1: there was the tragedy involving a passing of the member
- 12:24Speaker 1: of the Charlotte FC soccer team. Owner David Tepper of
- 12:28Speaker 1: the Panthers own Set Football club as well, so he
- 12:31Speaker 1: traveled back to Charlotte to support that organization. They picked
- 12:35Speaker 1: up their interviews on Saturday. Of course, the Cowboys season
- 12:38Speaker 1: ended on Sunday. Now here's Kellen Moore interviewing for a job,
- 12:42Speaker 1: as he did for four different positions a year ago.
- 12:45Speaker 1: He fits with the Panthers are looking for in terms
- 12:47Speaker 1: of being a young, sharp offensive mind. He is very
- 12:51Speaker 1: creative and again did interview well when he got his
- 12:54Speaker 1: opportunities a year ago. This is the final interview in
- 12:57Speaker 1: the first round for the Panthers. I would fully expect
- 13:00Speaker 1: like some other teams today, they're going to move into
- 13:03Speaker 1: second interviews sooner than later. Here, we're now sixteen days
- 13:07Speaker 1: past the end of the regular season, Andrews still no hires.
- 13:10Speaker 1: Good chance that that changes here in the coming days
- 13:12Speaker 1: again with those five vacancies. And as your point out,
- 13:15Speaker 1: we are a full two weeks out from the Monday
- 13:17Speaker 1: after the end of the regular season. All right, Mike,
- 13:20Speaker 1: this is a non football story here at of Santa Clara.
- 13:23Speaker 1: The forty Niners had some off field issues that they
- 13:25Speaker 1: are now dealing with, notably Charles Amena, who was arrested
- 13:29Speaker 1: last night. What do we know? Yes, yesterday afternoon, Charles
- 13:33Speaker 1: Omnehue's girlfriend called police uh to respond and by the way,
- 13:38Speaker 1: San Jose Police was the responding police department, and she
- 13:43Speaker 1: claims that he threw her down during an argument. Officers
- 13:46Speaker 1: did not observe any visible injuries, but she did complain
- 13:51Speaker 1: of armed pain. She refused medical treatment, so Amnahue was
- 13:55Speaker 1: arrested on a suspicion of misdemeanor domestic violence. The forty
- 14:01Speaker 1: Niners said they are aware of the situation in gathering facts,
- 14:05Speaker 1: UH so no indication regarding his status for this weekend's
- 14:10Speaker 1: NFC Championship game to this point of many who had
- 14:12Speaker 1: four and a half sax for the forty Niners in
- 14:14Speaker 1: the regular season and regularly played more than half of
- 14:17Speaker 1: the snaps for them. So we will continue to update
- 14:20Speaker 1: you on this story as we received more facts, either
- 14:22Speaker 1: from police or the team. Again regarding the football side
- 14:25Speaker 1: of things, Niners gathering information. We as well on our
- 14:29Speaker 1: newsroom gathering information tosturb disturbing story out of Santa Clara,
- 14:33Speaker 1: Charles and Mena who arrested yesterday. Thank you Mike and
- 14:36Speaker 1: thank you Tom. This is NFL. Now on to Tuesday.
- 14:39Speaker 1: I had a championship Wednesday. Well here from Kyle Shanahan
- 14:41Speaker 1: coming up tomorrow on that and anything else. Hurts fires
- 14:50Speaker 1: to play. It's got Dallas Gunnard starting into the ends,
- 14:57Speaker 1: cutting smooth. What was music? Kip goes to Boston Scott
- 15:01Speaker 1: he took from the touchdown, hurts back, He's gonna run,
- 15:05Speaker 1: He's gonna score. Caroline hurt that whole capital. The Philadelphia
- 15:14Speaker 1: Eagles up breached the championship game. This guy is used
- 15:21Speaker 1: to playing in the NFC Championship game, used to seeing
- 15:24Speaker 1: this on the socials. Although when Freddy Mitchell was playing.
- 15:28Speaker 1: We didn't necessarily have the Twitter in the Instagram, Freddie,
- 15:31Speaker 1: We're all getting older. It is great to have the
- 15:34Speaker 1: former Eagles first round pick with us live on NFL.
- 15:39Speaker 1: Now is the Eagles get ready for another NFC championship game, Freddy,
- 15:43Speaker 1: good to see you. How are you, Andrew Baldi? What's
- 15:46Speaker 1: going on? It's great to be here, man. The Eagles
- 15:48Speaker 1: are winning. The city is live, I'm here in Philadelphia.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Everything is amazing right now. It really seems like that
- 15:54Speaker 1: old Eagles offense that we had in early two thousand's.
- 15:58Speaker 1: Can you can you, Freddie put into words what that
- 16:01Speaker 1: stadium is going to be like. You've gone through this
- 16:03Speaker 1: on Sunday. Jonathan and Gannon, the Eagles defensive coordinator, was
- 16:06Speaker 1: talking earlier today, said that when he was on the
- 16:09Speaker 1: sideline before the game that he could see it, not
- 16:11Speaker 1: not saying that the Giants were intimidated, but he could
- 16:14Speaker 1: see their reaction to the energy in the building. It's
- 16:19Speaker 1: a feeling like no other. It's just like a passion
- 16:21Speaker 1: for your country. It's just like you know what you
- 16:24Speaker 1: come to do, and they're they're rooting for you a
- 16:27Speaker 1: hundred percent and just don't mess up. Just don't mess up, Freddie.
- 16:32Speaker 1: You were in the huddle with Donovan McNabb for all
- 16:34Speaker 1: your years there in Philadelphia, and you've got a chance
- 16:36Speaker 1: to watch Jalen Hurts just kind of take over. Like,
- 16:39Speaker 1: can you make any comparison between the two, between Donovan
- 16:43Speaker 1: and your time and what we're all watching Jalen Hurts
- 16:46Speaker 1: to do right now. Well, I think Donovan McNabb actually
- 16:49Speaker 1: paved the way for guys like Jalen Hurst actually exists
- 16:52Speaker 1: in the league. And um as far as Donovan, a
- 16:55Speaker 1: lot of people said his deep ball wasn't great, but
- 16:57Speaker 1: whenever he found Tarall Owens, I mean it was deep
- 17:00Speaker 1: and it was great. I mean, we had a great team.
- 17:02Speaker 1: Andy Reid's offense is absolutely amazing. I look at the
- 17:05Speaker 1: Kansas City Chiefs every day, uh and and and see
- 17:09Speaker 1: his offense, and no I was involved in a couple
- 17:11Speaker 1: of them plays. So I mean, it's it's really great
- 17:14Speaker 1: to see Hurts coming in and throwing it and just
- 17:16Speaker 1: letting it go. Freddy, I'll go there because I'm sure
- 17:19Speaker 1: people in Philadelphia are already buying their plane tickets. If
- 17:21Speaker 1: you contemplated the Andy Reid against the Eagles Super Bowl,
- 17:26Speaker 1: I did, and then I and then when Mahomes got hurt,
- 17:29Speaker 1: it really scared me. You know, it really scared the
- 17:31Speaker 1: chances of of that. But I know the Andy Reid system.
- 17:34Speaker 1: You know. You you get in and you plug in play,
- 17:37Speaker 1: you know. And I think that if if Andy Reid
- 17:39Speaker 1: has an opportunity to get to the Super Bowl again,
- 17:41Speaker 1: he is going to be studying his butt off and
- 17:44Speaker 1: he will get there. Freddie, You're involved in one of
- 17:47Speaker 1: the iconic plays in Philadelphia sports history, just not Eagle history,
- 17:51Speaker 1: but Philadelphia's sports history. Fourth and Freddy, you get asked
- 17:55Speaker 1: about it all the time. Green Bay Packers take us
- 17:58Speaker 1: from the huddle to the play, Freddie, just one more time,
- 18:01Speaker 1: like the play, call, what it was designed to do,
- 18:04Speaker 1: and how you became the benefactor of it. We actually
- 18:07Speaker 1: had that play ran about two or three times, and
- 18:10Speaker 1: I saw that their defense were creating a gap in
- 18:13Speaker 1: the in the middle and it was basically a middle read. Um.
- 18:17Speaker 1: It was the scariest thing because I had guys like
- 18:19Speaker 1: John Runyon and Trey Thomas looking at me and saying,
- 18:21Speaker 1: you better not mess up. So everybody in the huddle.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Everybody in the huddle knew the ball was coming to me.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I'm looking at Donovan at saying a bro, I'm ready,
- 18:31Speaker 1: and I'm used to these situations, you know, third down
- 18:33Speaker 1: and fourth down situations. I don't get many opportunities because
- 18:37Speaker 1: you have Tarill Oins, which is a Hall of Fame
- 18:38Speaker 1: wide receiver right next to me, and it's just it's
- 18:41Speaker 1: a blessing for him to throw me the ball. And
- 18:44Speaker 1: then you you quite famously said, I'd like to thank
- 18:47Speaker 1: my hands so so so this so, this play is
- 18:53Speaker 1: not only in a Philadelphia Eagles history, this is NFL history.
- 18:57Speaker 1: We need to start putting that up there. Donovan me
- 18:58Speaker 1: Knapp throw it in the right spot. Um, the play
- 19:02Speaker 1: was called by Andy Reid. It's a great play. I mean,
- 19:05Speaker 1: are some great Eagles postgame quotes over the years that
- 19:08Speaker 1: have worked their way and stayed in the NFL lex kloon,
- 19:11Speaker 1: I'd like to thank my hands for who for what?
- 19:14Speaker 1: Your yours is my favorite, though, Freddy. But it's the
- 19:16Speaker 1: second time I want to backpedal here that you've used
- 19:19Speaker 1: the sentence. You better not mess up right. You talked
- 19:23Speaker 1: about it before when talking about how great this atmosphere
- 19:27Speaker 1: is and what this game truly means for the fans.
- 19:30Speaker 1: It hasn't seemed to me from Afar that any of
- 19:33Speaker 1: the you better not mess up has has affected this
- 19:37Speaker 1: team at all. I mean there is a weight on
- 19:40Speaker 1: this team that most teams feel playing in Philly. Does
- 19:43Speaker 1: this team feel it? I think that you know what
- 19:46Speaker 1: the fans and that they actually the team are just
- 19:49Speaker 1: like the fans, and it's so great. It's it's an
- 19:52Speaker 1: arrogance that is very very positive, and they know the
- 19:55Speaker 1: work that they put in and and it's really good.
- 19:57Speaker 1: I think that UH coach Siriannic is doing a great job.
- 20:00Speaker 1: Is spreading the ball. Please get Brownd the ball more.
- 20:04Speaker 1: He needs to be targeted more to be able to
- 20:07Speaker 1: open up this offense. I know, as a receiver of Baldi,
- 20:11Speaker 1: you remember me coming at you are practice saying I
- 20:13Speaker 1: want the ball more, I want the ball more. He's
- 20:15Speaker 1: very hungry. It's no way that your top receiver should
- 20:18Speaker 1: have three two. He needs to catch the ball a
- 20:21Speaker 1: lot more. He needs to be thrown to a lot
- 20:23Speaker 1: more because you know he got you there. You know
- 20:26Speaker 1: Freddie real quick. I thought Jaalen healthy this year through
- 20:30Speaker 1: the best deep ball in the NFL. A J. Brown
- 20:32Speaker 1: was a recipient a lot of those, so was Davante,
- 20:35Speaker 1: so was Dallas got Quez got a few. When you
- 20:37Speaker 1: watch him to a deep ball. What makes him so
- 20:40Speaker 1: good at doing it? Just the way that nose is
- 20:43Speaker 1: dropping down on the ball. You know, I can't really,
- 20:45Speaker 1: I'm not a quarterback, but the intricates is. But it's
- 20:47Speaker 1: an easy cut ball. It's in the basket every time.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And when he does run and scramble, you know he's
- 20:53Speaker 1: gonna throw the ball and he's looking for you. So
- 20:55Speaker 1: it's just a beautiful ball to catch it. It lays
- 20:58Speaker 1: right in there, the nose dives down perfectly, and velocity
- 21:01Speaker 1: control on it is amazing. He's just a great quarterback
- 21:04Speaker 1: and he's very special when he has a team behind him.
- 21:08Speaker 1: And there should be a special game. Jalen Hurts in
- 21:10Speaker 1: his third year. Brock Purty as a rookie. The Eagles
- 21:14Speaker 1: and the forty Niners coming up for the right to
- 21:16Speaker 1: go to Glendale and Super Bowl fifty seven. Freddie Mitchell,
- 21:19Speaker 1: it is always great to connect. Good luck to your
- 21:21Speaker 1: Eagles on Sunday, Go Birds. You got it. Man Chase
- 21:38Speaker 1: straight Ahead got into the end zone, hated hearts touchdown.
- 21:43Speaker 1: The Cincinnati Bengals are heading to Kansas City, my homes
- 21:47Speaker 1: to Chelsea for the twelfth time in the postseason for
- 21:50Speaker 1: homes now steps up in the pocket, throws wife right
- 21:52Speaker 1: off the back of the end zone. Touched off. What
- 21:56Speaker 1: catch my charts can't out bottled in a couple of times,
- 21:59Speaker 1: get off my can't rag chud Four to one, we
- 22:07Speaker 1: Heldlphia Eagles outreached championship game. I don't know who put
- 22:15Speaker 1: that together. Did you intentionally have Merril ree counting backwards?
- 22:19Speaker 1: Because we here are putting numbers and names and rankings
- 22:23Speaker 1: on a screen counting five four, three to one. Merrill
- 22:26Speaker 1: would go Bill's Chiefs, Niners, Eagles, and yes, Bengals in
- 22:30Speaker 1: the brand new Championships. Sunday, Dan hand Zeus collated power rankings.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Dan is with us as he has every Tuesday on
- 22:40Speaker 1: NFL now throughout the season. We get a lot of
- 22:43Speaker 1: Bengals fans here, Dan saying, what about us? Why haven't
- 22:46Speaker 1: you paid attention to the defending a f C champions
- 22:49Speaker 1: You finally have, We finally all have. We have I
- 22:51Speaker 1: think all year long, I'm going to get defensive. Collectively,
- 22:54Speaker 1: the Bengals are your new number one. Couldn't deny it
- 22:57Speaker 1: any longer. It's one of those things. I tried to
- 23:00Speaker 1: deny it, maybe subconsciously, I don't know, because I had
- 23:04Speaker 1: the Bills ahead of them last week, and I had
- 23:06Speaker 1: the Niners at number one for weeks before this, and
- 23:09Speaker 1: then I'm just watching that game in Orchard Park and
- 23:12Speaker 1: I'm thinking to myself, this team is not gonna lose again.
- 23:16Speaker 1: There's not gonna lose, and it's it's Joe Burrow obviously
- 23:19Speaker 1: the biggest reason why, but it's the fact that the
- 23:22Speaker 1: whole team is playing at a very high level. They're
- 23:24Speaker 1: battle tested. I'm just so confident that Joe Burrow does
- 23:28Speaker 1: not walk off a field a loser this year. And
- 23:30Speaker 1: if that's the case, how can I have them anywhere
- 23:32Speaker 1: else but at the top of this list. Okay, and
- 23:34Speaker 1: just for the record, when you say they're not gonna
- 23:36Speaker 1: lose again, you say that the Cincinnati Bengals will win
- 23:40Speaker 1: Super Bowl fifty seven. Yeah, I didn't just say it.
- 23:43Speaker 1: I guarantee it. A little Joe Namath there for Cincinnati,
- 23:46Speaker 1: this is happening. He could say it on a chase
- 23:48Speaker 1: lounge by a pool, and I could see Joe Burrow
- 23:51Speaker 1: actually trying to recreate that. All right, So the Niners
- 23:54Speaker 1: get knocked out of the top spot. They've been there
- 23:56Speaker 1: like a month and a half. We'll get to them
- 23:57Speaker 1: at a second. You have the Eagles as the number
- 24:00Speaker 1: two team. Yeah, And that was actually the hardest decision
- 24:04Speaker 1: for me, Drew, because the Niners, you know, they played
- 24:08Speaker 1: a very good game. It wasn't as glitzy and glamorous
- 24:11Speaker 1: as what we had seen in past weeks when they're
- 24:14Speaker 1: averaging over thirty eight points a game, just blowing the
- 24:16Speaker 1: doors off opponents. But I think in the crucible of
- 24:19Speaker 1: the postseason, you have to be able to win in
- 24:21Speaker 1: different ways, and the Niners showed us that. Um However,
- 24:26Speaker 1: the Eagles, I think for me, I had them parked
- 24:29Speaker 1: at five because I needed to see which version of
- 24:32Speaker 1: Philly shows up after the bye and with the Jalen
- 24:34Speaker 1: Hurts issue and Lane Johnson being out, and the fact
- 24:37Speaker 1: that they showed up looking like the team that was
- 24:39Speaker 1: the best team in football for seventy five or seven
- 24:41Speaker 1: of the season. With the game in Philly, I just
- 24:44Speaker 1: have to give them the slight edge over the Niners.
- 24:48Speaker 1: But it's so close. I struggled with that. We have
- 24:50Speaker 1: a fun fact coming up momentarily about the fact that
- 24:52Speaker 1: the Eagles are hosting the Niners here in the postseason. Again,
- 24:55Speaker 1: the Eagles to the Niners three. You have the Chiefs
- 24:59Speaker 1: as four? Is that with Mahome on one legs or two?
- 25:04Speaker 1: It's funnyations say that because I just did the Power
- 25:06Speaker 1: Rankings podcast with a great Colleen Wolf and I was
- 25:09Speaker 1: thinking out loud about it. If Mahomes was where would
- 25:13Speaker 1: the Chiefs be? I think they'd still be at four.
- 25:15Speaker 1: And again, it's kind of unfair than I'm doing this
- 25:17Speaker 1: Andrew like, why are you? Why are you? And you're
- 25:20Speaker 1: the standard for the entire NFL asking me to rank
- 25:23Speaker 1: these four teams because this is impossible your job. I
- 25:26Speaker 1: know it's in my contract, so I must so. But
- 25:29Speaker 1: someone then has to be number four. But here's the thing.
- 25:32Speaker 1: The Chiefs, they showed what they can do when they're
- 25:35Speaker 1: superstar quarterback is at and missing a quarter and finding
- 25:40Speaker 1: ways the defense led by Chris Jones that that just
- 25:42Speaker 1: showed me so much about that team. You can flip
- 25:45Speaker 1: this and make them one and make Bengals four and
- 25:47Speaker 1: that wouldn't be the worst thing either. Can I offer
- 25:49Speaker 1: you a different way out of it? Yes? Didn't the
- 25:51Speaker 1: Bills beat the Chiefs this year they did. Okay, So
- 25:54Speaker 1: why didn't you put the Bills five and the Chiefs four?
- 25:57Speaker 1: Who said that your final power rankings had to have
- 26:00Speaker 1: the final four as the top four. Now you're being submembered.
- 26:05Speaker 1: I like it. The power standing that is, that would
- 26:08Speaker 1: be chasing clout in the power rankings realm. And I'm
- 26:11Speaker 1: above that, Andrew, I don't. I mean, I understand what
- 26:14Speaker 1: you're saying, but you gotta give respect to the teams
- 26:16Speaker 1: that are still in the dance. You have standards. We
- 26:20Speaker 1: don't chase the power rankings. You have standards. Is that
- 26:24Speaker 1: Power Ranking podcast ready to drop? Oh? It will be
- 26:28Speaker 1: out as you listen or as you watch this right now,
- 26:30Speaker 1: it's there. Maybe I don't know. I don't publish it,
- 26:33Speaker 1: but around this afternoon, okay. And you could also find
- 26:38Speaker 1: Dan's well written piece about the teams we just ranked.
- 26:40Speaker 1: He has the Bills, the Cowboys, the Jaguars, the Giants
- 26:43Speaker 1: as five through eight on NFL dot com slash Power
- 26:47Speaker 1: Rankings two rs. They're back to back Power Rankings in
- 26:51Speaker 1: the middle. Thank you, Dani. I Gotta NFL Now is
