- 0:00Speaker 1: And now Move the Sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
- 0:06Speaker 1: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the Sticks on a Monday, DJ,
- 0:09Speaker 1: Bucky Rhett back with you guys, and man, that was interesting.
- 0:13Speaker 1: That was an interesting weekend of football, some wild games.
- 0:16Speaker 1: We have a chance to break down the college stuff
- 0:19Speaker 1: later on in the week, but it is a Monday,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and I don't even Like a lot of times, I'm like, okay,
- 0:23Speaker 1: we are starting here, Buck, I don't even know where
- 0:25Speaker 1: to start today because so much craziness it took place,
- 0:28Speaker 1: right I mean, you guys, I don't know where to start.
- 0:30Speaker 1: It's crazy.
- 0:31Speaker 2: So I was on Game Day Highlights and Game Day
- 0:34Speaker 2: Final last night and it was pretty clear we're going
- 0:36Speaker 2: to start with the team to score ten touchdowns, and
- 0:38Speaker 2: so I am. I'm pretty excited that Bucky's going to
- 0:43Speaker 2: break down each and every one of those touchdowns for
- 0:45Speaker 2: us here on this podcast.
- 0:47Speaker 3: And I think we'll get to the other fifteen games tomorrow.
- 0:51Speaker 4: So it's so unbelievable that a team can score seventy
- 0:54Speaker 4: points in the NFL game, and I've been the high
- 0:57Speaker 4: school games and I can't imagine people scoring seventy points
- 1:01Speaker 4: like you almost have to in a high school game.
- 1:04Speaker 4: You have to not try to let someone score it
- 1:06Speaker 4: like seventy points. It's really it has to be either
- 1:08Speaker 4: that big of a mismatch or your team just has
- 1:11Speaker 4: to pack it in. To give up ten touchdowns in
- 1:14Speaker 4: an NFL game while scoring twenty points three.
- 1:18Speaker 1: P fifty on the ground, buck three and behind fifty
- 1:22Speaker 1: in the air seven six total.
- 1:25Speaker 5: I just don't understand.
- 1:26Speaker 4: But I mean, I'll say this, if you're Mike mc daniels,
- 1:30Speaker 4: this is the offense that everyone has been afraid of.
- 1:34Speaker 4: I mean, when you look at that tape and you
- 1:35Speaker 4: watch this team go up and down the field, you
- 1:38Speaker 4: look at the track stars that they have.
- 1:39Speaker 5: And keep in mind they didn't have Jaden model.
- 1:41Speaker 4: But that's okay, Devin, A chain of just coming there
- 1:44Speaker 4: and I'll show you that I am also a track star,
- 1:46Speaker 4: and I'll run for two hundred yards and I'll put
- 1:48Speaker 4: it in the paint from anywhere on the field, and.
- 1:51Speaker 5: Tua, don't worry about it, Tua, we can run it.
- 1:53Speaker 4: But we're still gonna let you get your throws in
- 1:56Speaker 4: and let you make sure that you're a fantasy legend.
- 1:59Speaker 4: I mean, this is an unbelievable performance from an offense
- 2:02Speaker 4: that we knew they had firepower. But I'm sure that
- 2:05Speaker 4: every defensive coordinating the league is going to take a
- 2:06Speaker 4: look at the take and be like, what in the world, Like,
- 2:11Speaker 4: how do you handle it? And before I didn't want
- 2:13Speaker 4: to say I dismissed the Dolphins. I thought their offense
- 2:16Speaker 4: was like cute and those things. But now I'm like,
- 2:19Speaker 4: I mean, can you really ride the offense like they're
- 2:23Speaker 4: riding it and make a big run and big Fangio
- 2:26Speaker 4: is everything to that defense. You now have a high
- 2:29Speaker 4: powered offense with a guy who understands how to play defense,
- 2:32Speaker 4: and now he only has to hold serve.
- 2:35Speaker 5: They're a dangerous team. They're a very dangerous team, I.
- 2:38Speaker 1: Think, I think, and and we'll go through all these games.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We'll get there in a minute. I think they're the
- 2:42Speaker 1: best team in the AFC right now based off what
- 2:43Speaker 1: they've shown through three games, two on the road. Then
- 2:45Speaker 1: they come back and just demolish the Broncos. I will
- 2:48Speaker 1: say one thing and then we'll jump into these But Ratt,
- 2:50Speaker 1: I don't know if you've ever you ever had just
- 2:52Speaker 1: a terrible day at work, you know, and you call
- 2:55Speaker 1: your wife on the way home, you call Cana and
- 2:57Speaker 1: you just go, guys, it's just been a terrible day.
- 2:59Speaker 1: And then you get home and she's made your favorite dinner,
- 3:01Speaker 1: she's got you've got your favorite show, all het keyboarded
- 3:04Speaker 1: up and ready to go. I wonder if Nathaniel Hackett
- 3:08Speaker 1: got home last night and was just like man Zach Wilson.
- 3:11Speaker 1: I mean, we can't move the ball. This is just
- 3:13Speaker 1: I don't know, are we going to survive? And then
- 3:15Speaker 1: he gets home when there's a nice warm plate of cookies,
- 3:18Speaker 1: a glass of milk, and that Denver Dunphs Miami game
- 3:20Speaker 1: is just on the TV, just waiting for him to
- 3:22Speaker 1: watch that thing, and hey, we'll pick you up a
- 3:25Speaker 1: little bit. That's that's what I want to see when
- 3:26Speaker 1: I get home. The worst coaching job in the history
- 3:29Speaker 1: of sports. All I know is at least they had
- 3:32Speaker 1: a good defense. The offense wasn't any good, but the
- 3:34Speaker 1: defense or the defense was really good. Now the offense
- 3:36Speaker 1: still isn't any good now the defense thinks. So I
- 3:39Speaker 1: don't know what to say about that one training. I mean,
- 3:43Speaker 1: probably probably in the rule book why you don't trash
- 3:45Speaker 1: other coaches, though, just saying probably yeah.
- 3:48Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:49Speaker 4: Football commerce certainly came back to get u Sean Payne,
- 3:52Speaker 4: I mean in a major way.
- 3:53Speaker 2: Or you were just setting this up, right you were
- 3:55Speaker 2: You're like, hey, look man, you know really I got
- 3:58Speaker 2: nothing we're gonna do this year.
- 3:59Speaker 1: But I didn't do it. I have to go back
- 4:01Speaker 1: through the game logs, but I don't remember them giving
- 4:04Speaker 1: up seventy points last year. Seventy I mean, but seven
- 4:08Speaker 1: oh seventy could have kicked a field goal made it
- 4:11Speaker 1: seventy three.
- 4:12Speaker 3: NFL.
- 4:13Speaker 2: We're the three games in and by the way, the
- 4:15Speaker 2: questions to Sean Payton on the conference call today with
- 4:18Speaker 2: the media, where did you fire.
- 4:20Speaker 3: Anyone WHOA yeah? Like no, and I wouldn't announce that
- 4:26Speaker 3: on a conference call.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Wow. Wow, that's well. This is why this week is
- 4:31Speaker 1: so bonkers, because we've got our rundown and we haven't
- 4:33Speaker 1: even jumped into it here, I know, because it's crazy.
- 4:36Speaker 1: All right, let's get started. Let's go to the games
- 4:38Speaker 1: that uh the Buck and I were at. We'll start
- 4:40Speaker 1: with the Chargers Vikings game. I joke with you guys,
- 4:43Speaker 1: every week I've never called I've been doing these games
- 4:45Speaker 1: for six years for the church. I've never called a
- 4:47Speaker 1: boring game. I don't even know what that's like. What's
- 4:49Speaker 1: it like to like have like a three touchdown winner
- 4:51Speaker 1: or loss? I have no clue. Every game comes down
- 4:53Speaker 1: to the very last possession. That's unbelievable. Man, it's crazy.
- 4:57Speaker 1: But they end up beating the Vikings twenty eight to
- 4:59Speaker 1: twenty four. I'll get to some of the highlights and
- 5:02Speaker 1: then i'll let I'll let you guys jump in on
- 5:04Speaker 1: on the decision making, because that was the big buzz
- 5:06Speaker 1: in social media was Brandon Staley electing to go for
- 5:09Speaker 1: it deep in his own territory late to try and
- 5:12Speaker 1: put the game away, which we'll get to and i'll
- 5:13Speaker 1: get your guys opinion on that. But before that, justin
- 5:16Speaker 1: Herbert's forty forty seven for four h five, it was
- 5:20Speaker 1: They're like, ah, they didn't really run the ball. This
- 5:22Speaker 1: was a classic case of you're gonna play zero and
- 5:24Speaker 1: you're gonna play man. We're just why run the ball
- 5:27Speaker 1: into a wall. I'm just gonna zip it out. We're
- 5:29Speaker 1: gonna throw bubbles and quick screens all day long, make
- 5:32Speaker 1: you tackle on space. We'll take those five six, eight
- 5:34Speaker 1: yards and then and then now I felt bad for
- 5:37Speaker 1: Byron Murphy Man, I'm like Bira Murphy, like, hey, dude,
- 5:39Speaker 1: you are alone with arguably the best route runner in
- 5:43Speaker 1: the NFL. And Keenan Allen like, there's other people that
- 5:45Speaker 1: can be in the conversation. He's in the conversation, and
- 5:48Speaker 1: you're gonna have two way gos against that dude with
- 5:51Speaker 1: no help the whole day. And Keenan Allen cooked him
- 5:53Speaker 1: to the tune of eighteen catches and over two bills,
- 5:56Speaker 1: like he had he had no chance. I don't know
- 5:58Speaker 1: anybody eighty corners gonna hold up out there, no help
- 6:00Speaker 1: against that dude, as polished as he is. And Herbert
- 6:03Speaker 1: was just kind of dialed in, so they chucked it
- 6:06Speaker 1: all over the place. The difference too, And I saw
- 6:09Speaker 1: a stat that got posted. You know, we'll get to
- 6:11Speaker 1: the Cowboys loss in a little bit, but the difference
- 6:14Speaker 1: between Kellen Moore and Mike McCarthy. Kellen Moore, I think
- 6:17Speaker 1: the Cowboys were number one in red Zone last year.
- 6:19Speaker 1: I think they're twenty seventh now. It's been their achilles heel.
- 6:22Speaker 1: The Chargers went from way down to the bottom of
- 6:24Speaker 1: the league that they're up in the top ten now.
- 6:26Speaker 1: His creativity and ability to kind of finish drives in
- 6:29Speaker 1: this game was the difference the Chargers hold on. They
- 6:31Speaker 1: end up winning this one twenty eight to twenty fourth.
- 6:34Speaker 1: Last thing I'll say, I'll kick it over to Red
- 6:36Speaker 1: on this one. But the best player on the field
- 6:40Speaker 1: defensively in this game was a rookie and it was
- 6:43Speaker 1: twoy Polo two from out of sc He was awesome.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I think he had four or five pressures. He had
- 6:50Speaker 1: a sack. He could he could have had three sacks.
- 6:52Speaker 1: It's one of those ones where he generates the carnage
- 6:55Speaker 1: and everybody else gets to kind of clean it up.
- 6:57Speaker 1: But he's moving around. I mean, he has been playing
- 6:59Speaker 1: like gangbusters. He is a really, really good football player.
- 7:03Speaker 3: That's awesome to hear.
- 7:04Speaker 2: I love getting those little rookie reports, you know, on
- 7:07Speaker 2: guys that you know maybe not getting a ton of
- 7:08Speaker 2: buzz like elsewhere or otherwise, and you find that they're
- 7:11Speaker 2: making an impact on the game.
- 7:13Speaker 3: Here's what I'll say on the coaching decision.
- 7:15Speaker 2: If there was anybody, and I'm gonna talk directly into
- 7:17Speaker 2: the microphone that was surprised that Brandon Staley went for
- 7:21Speaker 2: fourth and one from his own twenty four there you
- 7:23Speaker 2: have not been watching the Chargers. I mean, like that
- 7:27Speaker 2: was the most the least unsurprised, the least surprising.
- 7:31Speaker 3: Move from a head coach that day.
- 7:32Speaker 2: Now, you know, you could certainly take some issue with
- 7:35Speaker 2: the way that they went about trying to convert that
- 7:37Speaker 2: fourth down, and look, credit to the defense for making
- 7:40Speaker 2: it stand up, you know, amidst some definite anxious moments there.
- 7:45Speaker 2: So I was not surprised that he ended up doing that.
- 7:48Speaker 2: You know, I wouldn't have been surprised if it ended
- 7:50Speaker 2: up biting them. I mean, that's just one of those things.
- 7:52Speaker 2: If you're gonna if you're gonna live and die with it.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It's like, look, if you're gonna hit sixteen on blackjack,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you're gonna hit it all day long. You don't just
- 7:57Speaker 2: pick and choose when you're gonna hit it. You gotta
- 7:59Speaker 2: go for it right each time you're gonna hit you know,
- 8:01Speaker 2: twelve versus two, you have to do it every time.
- 8:03Speaker 3: You don't just pick it along.
- 8:04Speaker 1: As long as you're not on an NFL business related trip,
- 8:07Speaker 1: then you don't go in there because we don't know.
- 8:09Speaker 2: We're just talking generalities here, we're just talking general talking strategy.
- 8:13Speaker 3: But let me ask you this first.
- 8:16Speaker 2: And then you can you can get in on the
- 8:19Speaker 2: on the decision making here. But to DJ's point about
- 8:22Speaker 2: the vikings, you know, with a ton of cover zero
- 8:25Speaker 2: cover one in this game, at what point and how
- 8:29Speaker 2: difficult is it for a defensive coordinator to mid stream
- 8:36Speaker 2: kind of flip the script And look, we talk about adjustments.
- 8:38Speaker 2: Everybody's making adjustments, But if you have game planned, and
- 8:41Speaker 2: if you have this is the way we want to
- 8:43Speaker 2: attack the Chargers, and now all of a sudden you're
- 8:46Speaker 2: gonna how difficult is it to truly end game kind.
- 8:49Speaker 3: Of reverse course that way?
- 8:51Speaker 2: If this is what you've been working on in a
- 8:52Speaker 2: week of practice to say, hey, look, Keenan Allen's flipping
- 8:55Speaker 2: cooking us over here. We got to do something different.
- 8:57Speaker 2: So how hard is that?
- 8:59Speaker 4: Well, I mean it's hard to do it in game,
- 9:01Speaker 4: but I guess it depends on what was the goal
- 9:04Speaker 4: of the game going into it, Like what did Brian
- 9:06Speaker 4: Floydes really want to take away? Because I'm looking at
- 9:09Speaker 4: the numbers and yeah, they had four hundred and seventy
- 9:11Speaker 4: five yards, but at the end of the day, I
- 9:13Speaker 4: mean he gave up twenty eight points, He gave up
- 9:16Speaker 4: a touchdown a quarter. They were in the game the
- 9:19Speaker 4: entirety of the game. It was fourteen ten at halftime,
- 9:21Speaker 4: they're there. I'm sitting there looking at third down. They're
- 9:24Speaker 4: five for eleven on third down. I mean, Justin Herbert
- 9:26Speaker 4: had an unbelievable completion rate like forty one to forty
- 9:29Speaker 4: I mean, that's crazy, the average nine zero point one
- 9:31Speaker 4: yards per play.
- 9:32Speaker 5: But they didn't allow him to run.
- 9:33Speaker 4: They forced them to play a one dimensional attack, and
- 9:36Speaker 4: then from an offensier standpoint, they controlled it. You know,
- 9:39Speaker 4: it's tough because statistically you'd be like, man, you gave
- 9:43Speaker 4: up so many yards on the air. But if you
- 9:46Speaker 4: ask them, they had the game the way they wanted it.
- 9:49Speaker 4: They were still right there at the end of the game.
- 9:51Speaker 4: And so we talked about points not yards. I can
- 9:55Speaker 4: see where Brian Floyd is like, the strength of our
- 9:58Speaker 4: team is I back end. I'll put it on not
- 10:00Speaker 4: back end to hold up and Keenan Allen had a
- 10:02Speaker 4: bunch of yards and they did that, but at the
- 10:04Speaker 4: end of the day, they still had a chance to
- 10:05Speaker 4: win the game.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I think that's a fair point. I'll add
- 10:09Speaker 1: a couple other things on that though. If you look
- 10:12Speaker 1: the week before Tennessee, look at look at the difference
- 10:14Speaker 1: in third down with what Vrabel and their group did
- 10:17Speaker 1: against the Chargers versus they obviously played a totally different
- 10:20Speaker 1: style of game. Now, the difference also being that Jeffrey
- 10:22Speaker 1: Simmons in playing in Minnesota. So that's that's.
- 10:26Speaker 5: They don't have. They don't have a pass rusher outside.
- 10:28Speaker 4: Of Daniel Hunter, Like I know, you've got Marcus Vnpoort
- 10:30Speaker 4: and those guys heard the Hunters the only one, and
- 10:32Speaker 4: so you don't have you don't have a way to
- 10:35Speaker 4: generate it. So all their pressure has to be manufactured.
- 10:38Speaker 4: And so you're trying to quicken the clock. You're trying
- 10:40Speaker 4: to see if you can bake Justin Herbert into that
- 10:43Speaker 4: like a turnover. But look, man, Brian Floyd's and we know,
- 10:47Speaker 4: like he comes from New England, they'll use those snowflake
- 10:49Speaker 4: game plans, something that is unique and creative and and different.
- 10:52Speaker 5: They tried it.
- 10:53Speaker 4: They had the game and if not for Kirk Cousins
- 10:56Speaker 4: throwing up look at an untied.
- 10:58Speaker 5: Righty jam one in. Yeah, they clock and they go there.
- 11:01Speaker 5: If they win the game, who's to say that celebrate? No?
- 11:05Speaker 1: That was two two goal line stands, though at the
- 11:07Speaker 1: end of the game the Chargers had two of them
- 11:09Speaker 1: and the On the Viking side of things, let me
- 11:12Speaker 1: give you some good news on the Biking side of things.
- 11:13Speaker 1: First of all, their offensive line is beat up and
- 11:17Speaker 1: they're not great to begin with. In my opinion, I'll
- 11:20Speaker 1: say Cousins hung in there. Cousins got the not kicked
- 11:23Speaker 1: out of him in this game between Bosa and Tuey Peloto.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Mac was back there. Sebastian Joseph Day was hitting him
- 11:28Speaker 1: all game long. He got he got peppered in there,
- 11:32Speaker 1: and I left the stadium thinking another thing too. Jordan Addison, guys,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know we all liked him coming out. He is
- 11:39Speaker 1: going to be very good. Like it's going to be.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He's gonna be They're gonna have a thousand yard receivers
- 11:45Speaker 1: every year. It's going to be JJ doing his thing,
- 11:47Speaker 1: and he's Jefferson was unbelievable. He was a yard shy.
- 11:50Speaker 1: He was one forty nine. He goes one to fifty.
- 11:52Speaker 1: He'd have been the only receiver in NFL history to
- 11:55Speaker 1: go one fifty plus in each of the first three
- 11:57Speaker 1: games of the season. He missed it by one yard.
- 12:00Speaker 5: He was right there.
- 12:00Speaker 1: He was awesome. But Addison is smooth and fluids his
- 12:05Speaker 1: ability to get in and out. Cousins trust him. Buck,
- 12:08Speaker 1: he's toe tapping on the siline. He looked like you
- 12:11Speaker 1: just sometimes you watch these guys like he looks like
- 12:13Speaker 1: he's been playing this for ten years.
- 12:14Speaker 5: Like he is.
- 12:15Speaker 1: There is no assembly.
- 12:16Speaker 4: Another example of route runners being coveted at a premium.
- 12:22Speaker 4: You think about Kevin O'Connell and what they wanted. They
- 12:24Speaker 4: wanted someone that could compliment justin Jefferson. They wanted to
- 12:27Speaker 4: have interchangeable wide receivers that could win their individual battles
- 12:31Speaker 4: or isolation routes and do all the creative stuff on
- 12:35Speaker 4: the route.
- 12:35Speaker 5: Tree to be able to create these big plays.
- 12:37Speaker 4: Jordan Aison can do that, and for me, I think
- 12:40Speaker 4: it has to change the way that we evaluate wide receivers.
- 12:42Speaker 4: We can put the clock, the stop watches to bid
- 12:45Speaker 4: like it's about your ability to stop, start, get open,
- 12:48Speaker 4: create all this stuff, and we need to see you
- 12:50Speaker 4: at the combine and at your pro day really run
- 12:53Speaker 4: routes to get open because the athleticism is great, but man,
- 12:58Speaker 4: the guys that are able to do it with tactic
- 13:00Speaker 4: and technique, they have an opportunity to do it in
- 13:03Speaker 4: a major way.
- 13:04Speaker 2: How about my dude, Jake Bobo by the way, we'll
- 13:05Speaker 2: get into that. I don't think we're hitting on that game,
- 13:07Speaker 2: but kind of fits that bill too.
- 13:09Speaker 1: You know, we'll get bonus, we'll get some bonus stuff.
- 13:11Speaker 1: But I'm gonna transition Buck to his easy here because
- 13:14Speaker 1: we talked about this a few weeks ago. I feel
- 13:16Speaker 1: like I love it when we get a chance to
- 13:17Speaker 1: be a little bit ahead of the curve. Do you
- 13:18Speaker 1: remember when we talked about the little dudes and we're like, look,
- 13:21Speaker 1: Calvin Austin's had a good camp, Tank Dell's had a
- 13:23Speaker 1: good camp, Jordan Addison's had a good camp. Like all
- 13:26Speaker 1: of a sudden, too too at Well had been making
- 13:28Speaker 1: plays like We're like, we've been kind of we've been
- 13:30Speaker 1: kind of like you're too little.
- 13:31Speaker 5: You're too little. It's too small.
- 13:33Speaker 1: It's like, hey, Buck, we get the Tank Dell in
- 13:35Speaker 1: the game. You rat but he had a phenomenal game,
- 13:37Speaker 1: and score another one for the little dudes.
- 13:39Speaker 4: Yeah, score another one for the little dudes. But this game,
- 13:42Speaker 4: to me, DJ like is one thing to.
- 13:45Speaker 5: Go through your pre draft stuff.
- 13:47Speaker 4: And we talk about it and I feel like maybe
- 13:49Speaker 4: sometimes we spend so much time talking about it that
- 13:51Speaker 4: maybe you lose a little bit of your natural feel
- 13:53Speaker 4: for the prospect because we're on TV, we're going back
- 13:56Speaker 4: and forth, we're trying to create different storylines in different angles.
- 13:59Speaker 4: But I'm gonna say this Stroud is as good as
- 14:01Speaker 4: we've talked about. He is as advertised, And I know
- 14:04Speaker 4: doing the run up to the draft, there was a
- 14:06Speaker 4: lot of conversation about other stuff that kind of clouded
- 14:08Speaker 4: his event, right.
- 14:09Speaker 1: All right, the S two By the way, thoughts your
- 14:12Speaker 1: prayers to the two tests?
- 14:14Speaker 5: Yeah, DJ, like all this stuff clouded.
- 14:16Speaker 4: I'm telling you, when I'm watching him, this dude looks
- 14:19Speaker 4: like a ten year vet in the pocket. They have
- 14:22Speaker 4: four offensive linemen missing. The Jaguars are trying to heat
- 14:25Speaker 4: him up, and he never flinches. He only got hit
- 14:28Speaker 4: four times, but he is delivering dime after dime after
- 14:32Speaker 4: dome And.
- 14:32Speaker 5: We talked about in the run up to the draft
- 14:34Speaker 5: about him being maybe the most natural passer and thrower.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It is effortless, to the point where when you talk
- 14:41Speaker 4: to the coaches for the Jaguars about they're like, man,
- 14:42Speaker 4: this dude is I mean, he is legit, like we
- 14:44Speaker 4: better get him now because in a couple of years
- 14:47Speaker 4: he is going to own it in terms of like how.
- 14:50Speaker 5: He gets it. I mean, this dude, he's so good.
- 14:53Speaker 4: And at the end of the day, you talk about
- 14:54Speaker 4: Tank Deal, Tankdal hissed him. Look the game, it is
- 14:58Speaker 4: like a ten point game, and this is is a
- 15:00Speaker 4: zero hit. It is third and five and they bring
- 15:02Speaker 4: all the pressure. Tank Deal escapes and CJ calmly Cooley
- 15:08Speaker 4: hissed the layup, I mean perfect pass, oh boy, and
- 15:11Speaker 4: he just does it over and over again. And afterwards
- 15:15Speaker 4: Demiko ryans and everyone's talking about, oh, we got the
- 15:17Speaker 4: right quarterback for us.
- 15:18Speaker 5: The players believe in Brevin Jordan their team.
- 15:22Speaker 4: We talked about franchise quarterbacks giving guys hope.
- 15:26Speaker 5: He's that guy. I mean, look, I'm looking.
- 15:29Speaker 4: Three passers have only started their career with at like
- 15:33Speaker 4: nine hundred passing yards.
- 15:35Speaker 5: He's that. He's one of three to do it. DJ.
- 15:37Speaker 4: He has no interceptions. We talk about ball securary, he
- 15:40Speaker 4: doesn't turn the ball over. For a young guy to
- 15:42Speaker 4: play behind up a hodgepodge of mess to not turn
- 15:46Speaker 4: it over everything, he's a really good player.
- 15:50Speaker 1: I can I add one thing on Stroud here and
- 15:52Speaker 1: RTT jump in here. By the way, this is the
- 15:55Speaker 1: score if you don't know, thirty seven to seventeen. The
- 15:57Speaker 1: Texans got all over the Jacks. This is one thing
- 16:00Speaker 1: in scouting. I think this is a good lesson in scouting.
- 16:02Speaker 1: Every every evaluation is an individual evaluation. We talk about
- 16:06Speaker 1: in the past, don't scout the helmet in other words,
- 16:08Speaker 1: like don't just give a guy grade because he's at
- 16:10Speaker 1: a big school versus punishing a guy who's at a
- 16:12Speaker 1: small school. But also don't grade a current player on
- 16:16Speaker 1: the sins of a past player at the same position.
- 16:19Speaker 1: They're all different, they're all unique. You can't say that
- 16:22Speaker 1: Ohio State quarterbacks lump them up together and throw them
- 16:25Speaker 1: in a barrel. That he is so different than the
- 16:27Speaker 1: other guys. He's different than Dwayne Haskins was coming out.
- 16:30Speaker 1: He's different than Justin Fields was coming out. And I'll
- 16:33Speaker 1: pull up the reports. I was curious. I want to
- 16:35Speaker 1: go back and look at it. Stroud pure natural thrower,
- 16:39Speaker 1: outstanding production, has desired arm size, arm and decision making
- 16:44Speaker 1: for the position. Decision making a big point in there
- 16:46Speaker 1: not a dynamic athlete and a setup. But he always
- 16:48Speaker 1: throws off a firm, strong platform, smooth delivery, throws a
- 16:51Speaker 1: beautiful tight ball. He can layer the ball over linebackers
- 16:53Speaker 1: and under safeties. Puts a nice loft on deep balls,
- 16:56Speaker 1: making life easy on pass catchers. His issues arise when
- 16:59Speaker 1: he has to move and reset and deliver the ball,
- 17:01Speaker 1: and this causes his accuracy to suffer. The impressive college
- 17:05Speaker 1: football playoff performance against Georgia is a notable exception in
- 17:08Speaker 1: this department. He's a build up speed runner and lanes
- 17:11Speaker 1: open up for him to take off. Overall, Stroud is
- 17:13Speaker 1: definitely more of a shooter than a score Bucky phrase.
- 17:16Speaker 1: He will have success provided the pieces are in place.
- 17:19Speaker 1: It in front of him and on the perimeter. And
- 17:22Speaker 1: I mean just it was the most natural throwing session
- 17:25Speaker 1: at the combat. I remember saying that, specifically saying, I've
- 17:28Speaker 1: never seen a more natural throwing such I've seen some
- 17:31Speaker 1: guys throw harder, I've seen guys throw farther. I've seen
- 17:33Speaker 1: guys make more throws on the move. This was just
- 17:36Speaker 1: this ball requires this velocity and pace. He puts that
- 17:39Speaker 1: velocity and pace on the ball. It requires this amount
- 17:42Speaker 1: of loft. He puts that amount of loft on it.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Buck He's pure. He is a pure, pure thrower man.
- 17:47Speaker 4: So you know, DJ, when you call in the game,
- 17:50Speaker 4: you get there early, so you get a chance to
- 17:51Speaker 4: see those guys go through so doing warm ups, like
- 17:53Speaker 4: he goes that pre warm up where it's just him
- 17:55Speaker 4: and the quarterback coach and whatever. And DJ, the way
- 17:58Speaker 4: that he throws in warmups is the same way that
- 17:59Speaker 4: he throws in the game. It is all their bodies around,
- 18:01Speaker 4: but like, it doesn't change motion, doesn't change ball placement,
- 18:05Speaker 4: none of that stuff changes. And he plays with like
- 18:09Speaker 4: I would say, a calmness to his game that Khiet
- 18:12Speaker 4: never's real quiet, never never speeds up, never does anything
- 18:16Speaker 4: or whatever. And I'm jaded because having known him since
- 18:18Speaker 4: he was sixteen seventeen, he's the same exact guy. He
- 18:21Speaker 4: was the same player when he came through the lead eleven.
- 18:23Speaker 4: He's the same exact guy and now he's just a
- 18:25Speaker 4: little bigger. But he has a maturity about him where
- 18:29Speaker 4: you can just feel that the confidence is coming. And
- 18:32Speaker 4: when they actually put real wide receivers around him, I mean,
- 18:36Speaker 4: like high end, it's gonna be a problem.
- 18:39Speaker 5: I mean, it's really gonna be a problem.
- 18:42Speaker 2: You guys want me to say something, I was just
- 18:45Speaker 2: mesmerized watching the first quarter, second and seven deep ball
- 18:49Speaker 2: that tanks out here.
- 18:51Speaker 3: I've watched it about.
- 18:51Speaker 1: It, you weren't just reading up on like what you know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: the Taylor Swift Kelsey thing.
- 18:55Speaker 5: I don't know what.
- 18:56Speaker 2: I watched it about thirty six times since you guys
- 18:58Speaker 2: we were talking, and it's it's like a video game.
- 19:03Speaker 2: I'm watching the end zone copy like looking at Stroud right,
- 19:06Speaker 2: so from that end zone. And the best part about
- 19:10Speaker 2: this is the camera loses the ball, like you can't
- 19:15Speaker 2: see the ball, but what you can do is you
- 19:17Speaker 2: can follow the trajectory of it from the shadow on
- 19:20Speaker 2: the turf. Nice and it's incredible to watch this, like
- 19:24Speaker 2: the way it I mean, the natural release is awesome,
- 19:27Speaker 2: by the way Jaguar's getting zero pressure but.
- 19:29Speaker 3: CJ's back there.
- 19:30Speaker 2: I mean, I mean, perfect release, right, and and then
- 19:34Speaker 2: the thing just.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Goes like it curves right like perfectly.
- 19:37Speaker 2: Around the hash and then like comes back right into
- 19:41Speaker 2: the arms of Tank Dell with a closing safety that
- 19:44Speaker 2: it just beats. I mean, it's just it's like a
- 19:46Speaker 2: thing of beauty. I mean, I could say I consider
- 19:49Speaker 2: I'm watching another thirty six times like it's and there
- 19:51Speaker 2: was more of them like that, right, I mean you
- 19:53Speaker 2: have the deep deep throw actual touchdown later in the
- 19:56Speaker 2: game to Tank Dell.
- 19:57Speaker 3: There's a lot to like here about this young quarterback
- 20:00Speaker 3: in Houston. He's only getting better.
- 20:02Speaker 1: Can I just add one more thing here? And Buck
- 20:05Speaker 1: just put a button on it with this. But we'll
- 20:07Speaker 1: get through the rest of these games here, you know,
- 20:09Speaker 1: these big eight games that we have. But I was thinking, Okay, Trevor,
- 20:12Speaker 1: many they don't like Trevor's playing great. We know, Zach
- 20:14Speaker 1: Wilson has been terrible. Justin Fields is struggling, Trey Lance
- 20:17Speaker 1: has already been traded. You know, Mac Jones has been okay.
- 20:21Speaker 1: But that that was a draft that we were talking
- 20:23Speaker 1: about maybe being one of the best quarterback drafts we
- 20:26Speaker 1: had seen, you know, going back a long time. Man,
- 20:28Speaker 1: it's not going well for that group right now.
- 20:30Speaker 5: No, not going well.
- 20:32Speaker 4: And you know, speaking directly about like Trevor Lawrence, like
- 20:35Speaker 4: there's something that's just off. And you know, there's a
- 20:38Speaker 4: lot of conversation this week about justin fields and the
- 20:40Speaker 4: kind of offense that he needs to be in and
- 20:42Speaker 4: those things. And I'm looking at the offense each and
- 20:44Speaker 4: every week that Jacksonville has put around Trevor Lawrence.
- 20:47Speaker 5: It's all the stuff that he did at Clemson.
- 20:49Speaker 4: They're bubble screens, the shell acrosses, there's things where he
- 20:52Speaker 4: has I think the hardest thing to do in our
- 20:54Speaker 4: seat as evaluators is to be able to project.
- 20:56Speaker 5: How someone can play in something differently, you.
- 20:59Speaker 4: Know, because you can have the I'm telling you gonna
- 21:00Speaker 4: have the pedigree, the intelligence to instincts in those things.
- 21:03Speaker 4: But sometimes it still doesn't come together because that look,
- 21:06Speaker 4: the NFL is fast, it's a fast league.
- 21:08Speaker 5: Things happen.
- 21:09Speaker 4: You got to be able to anticipate the timing and
- 21:11Speaker 4: touch and all that, and so it's just you know,
- 21:15Speaker 4: we'll see he's been good, but you want more because
- 21:18Speaker 4: when you're the number one overall pick, the expectation isn't good,
- 21:21Speaker 4: it's great.
- 21:22Speaker 5: And so that's where he's at right now.
- 21:23Speaker 2: All right, let me take you guys to the Packers
- 21:25Speaker 2: Saints game at lambeau Field, And for about three quarters
- 21:29Speaker 2: you were like, all right, Saints are going to roll
- 21:30Speaker 2: home here with a big.
- 21:32Speaker 1: Road victory seventeen to nothing. Right, I was falling the
- 21:35Speaker 1: score and when I was the game I was at
- 21:36Speaker 1: and I was like oh, that one's over.
- 21:38Speaker 2: Seventeen to nothing. Derek Carr goes down. Now, ordinarily you'd
- 21:42Speaker 2: be like, all right, you know that was that was
- 21:44Speaker 2: the turning point there, And it might have been. But
- 21:45Speaker 2: Jameis Winston actually came in and made some big throws
- 21:47Speaker 2: in this game, and the Saints actually had a chance
- 21:49Speaker 2: to win it with a fair go ahead or the
- 21:50Speaker 2: field goal at the end, and they couldn't get it done.
- 21:53Speaker 2: But this game is about Jordan Love. This fourth quarter
- 21:57Speaker 2: was about Jordan Love, who, when this game, throws his
- 22:00Speaker 2: first career touchdown pass at lambeau Field and in doing so,
- 22:03Speaker 2: leads the biggest fourth quarter comeback at lambeau Field and
- 22:08Speaker 2: Packers history, all the way back from seventeen down And
- 22:13Speaker 2: we'll go back to the last two drives here, because
- 22:15Speaker 2: that's what I was most interested of, and when his
- 22:18Speaker 2: best was required, he gave his best fourth quarter comeback here.
- 22:22Speaker 2: The big plays from Love on the first touchdown drive,
- 22:25Speaker 2: third and ten down inside the red zone, twelve yard
- 22:28Speaker 2: throw to Jayden Reed, middle of the field, verse drop
- 22:30Speaker 2: eight coverage. I mean like he's patient, he waits and
- 22:33Speaker 2: bam as soon as Reed uncovers ball right on him.
- 22:36Speaker 3: They're in business.
- 22:37Speaker 2: And then they have trouble getting into the getting over
- 22:40Speaker 2: the goal line here, and then he gets down to
- 22:41Speaker 2: fourth and one and like this could be the game here,
- 22:44Speaker 2: and Love takes it himself, jukes a defender at the
- 22:47Speaker 2: goal line. He's into the end zone. First career rushing touchdown.
- 22:51Speaker 2: Let's go to the next drive. He's got to scramble
- 22:53Speaker 2: for twenty four yards tiptoeing down the left sideline. That
- 22:57Speaker 2: gets the drive rolling. And then when you watch the
- 23:00Speaker 2: tape of this play, here, this Jayden Reid explosive play
- 23:04Speaker 2: that went for thirty yards. You watch the tape, you
- 23:06Speaker 2: see him manipulate They got one high safety, so he
- 23:08Speaker 2: manipulates that post safety for the Saints. With his eyes
- 23:11Speaker 2: you can see the safety dark to the right or
- 23:15Speaker 2: to the left of the offense. And then beautifully, Love
- 23:19Speaker 2: comes right back throws a dime to Reid, whose outstretch
- 23:23Speaker 2: makes a perfect catch. But by the way, it dropped
- 23:24Speaker 2: a couple in this game, and he won the only
- 23:26Speaker 2: one for Love earlier, and I just you know, it
- 23:30Speaker 2: was fantastic. So thirty yards there. Then on third and three,
- 23:32Speaker 2: he's got the back shoulder fade ball to Romeo Dobs,
- 23:35Speaker 2: that's essentially the game winner. There's just there was so
- 23:38Speaker 2: much there in those last two drives where you're like,
- 23:41Speaker 2: all right, Packers are going to be a good hands buck.
- 23:44Speaker 4: Yeah, the Packers are going to be in good hands.
- 23:46Speaker 4: And I think we've talked about this on the DJ
- 23:49Speaker 4: and I talk. I'm sure we've also mentioned it. I
- 23:51Speaker 4: feel like in a way, and this is going to
- 23:52Speaker 4: sound crazy, but I want to make sure I give
- 23:54Speaker 4: it a proper context. I feel like Anne Rodger's departure
- 23:58Speaker 4: was additioned by subtraction for the team, meaning that once
- 24:01Speaker 4: you remove the crutch of having the four time MVP,
- 24:04Speaker 4: it was going to force Matt Lafleur and this team
- 24:07Speaker 4: to play differently and play in a style that I
- 24:09Speaker 4: believe is better for them when it comes to the postseason.
- 24:12Speaker 4: A little more complimentary football, a little more reliance on
- 24:15Speaker 4: the running game, a quarterback that is now playing within
- 24:19Speaker 4: the system as opposed to him being the system, and
- 24:23Speaker 4: in time, because they've drafted well over years, I feel
- 24:26Speaker 4: like this would be a team that plays much better
- 24:29Speaker 4: than everyone expects.
- 24:30Speaker 5: We're kind of seeing some of that.
- 24:32Speaker 4: We are also seeing something that we never we talked about,
- 24:36Speaker 4: but it never happens when the young quarterback sits down
- 24:39Speaker 4: and has an opportunity to acclimate to the league. Sometimes
- 24:43Speaker 4: it is for the betterment of their development, and we're
- 24:46Speaker 4: seeing that with Jordan Love because he didn't have to
- 24:48Speaker 4: rush them to the field despite what we all did
- 24:50Speaker 4: when we tried to make those early predictions on whether
- 24:52Speaker 4: you could play or not. The patience that they exhibited
- 24:55Speaker 4: in terms of waiting before he got on the field
- 24:58Speaker 4: is being rewarded because now he has a bitter feel
- 25:00Speaker 4: for the game.
- 25:01Speaker 2: DJ just real quick before we get this back to you.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Packers without David Baktiari Elton Jenkins, Christian Watson has yet
- 25:10Speaker 2: to play this year, No Aaron Jones in this game,
- 25:13Speaker 2: and no gy R Alexander on the defensive side of
- 25:15Speaker 2: the ball, and they find a way to win. I mean,
- 25:17Speaker 2: that's five top dudes on your team right there.
- 25:21Speaker 1: Yeah, it is impressive. And the other thing I would
- 25:22Speaker 1: just add that Bucky used I think the word rare
- 25:25Speaker 1: to me. The cool thing for Jordan Love is he's
- 25:29Speaker 1: a first year starter, but he's not a first year player.
- 25:33Speaker 1: He's got a lot of his skill players are younger
- 25:36Speaker 1: than he is, who are guys that have. He's got
- 25:39Speaker 1: all the receivers, so he's actually he's already established himself.
- 25:43Speaker 1: He can come in and be a leader as a
- 25:45Speaker 1: first time starter because he's known everybody in the organization
- 25:48Speaker 1: in the building for several years and he's he's been
- 25:50Speaker 1: there longer than all the guys he's playing with on
- 25:52Speaker 1: the perimeter. So he's already got credibility and leadership established
- 25:56Speaker 1: where most guys that's all a big storm scrolling around
- 25:59Speaker 1: at once. I'm trying to figure out what I'm doing now,
- 26:01Speaker 1: I'm trying to establish myself as a leader in trying
- 26:04Speaker 1: to learn. Like No, he's already got a chance to
- 26:06Speaker 1: have that foundation laid and now he can not only
- 26:09Speaker 1: be a first year start, but a first year starter
- 26:11Speaker 1: with some you know, with some leadership qualities there. So
- 26:15Speaker 1: it's worked out beautifully for Brian Goudikins and the Green
- 26:18Speaker 1: Bay Packers, how this whole thing has come together. So
- 26:21Speaker 1: a big win for them. The Packers keep rolling, they
- 26:23Speaker 1: win eighteen to seventeen over the Saints. Right, we're going
- 26:25Speaker 1: to take quick break and we come back Titans Browns.
- 26:28Speaker 1: What we saw on that one, including one of the
- 26:31Speaker 1: best defensive performances we've seen this year. We'll get to
- 26:34Speaker 1: that right after this. All right, guys, let's jump into
- 26:40Speaker 1: this one. This was a thrashing. This was not a
- 26:44Speaker 1: good matchup for the Tennessee Titans, who have an offensive
- 26:46Speaker 1: line that has holes and has issues, and they ran
- 26:49Speaker 1: up against really, in my opinion, the most talented defensive
- 26:51Speaker 1: player in the NFL.
- 26:52Speaker 5: TJ.
- 26:52Speaker 1: Watt you can make cases is odd track right now,
- 26:55Speaker 1: with Micah Parsons in the discussion as well. Both those
- 26:57Speaker 1: guys are playing great. Nobody as a rusher is as
- 27:01Speaker 1: skilled has everything at their disposal like Miles Garrett does,
- 27:04Speaker 1: and that was on display in this game. They had
- 27:07Speaker 1: no answer for him. He was just completely dominant. Three
- 27:10Speaker 1: and a half sacks, forced to fumble, five quarterback hits.
- 27:13Speaker 1: I went back and watched it. You know, the plays
- 27:16Speaker 1: circulating on the internet. You're seeing every with him moving
- 27:18Speaker 1: side inside and the tight ends are following him, which
- 27:20Speaker 1: is kind of hilarious. But his speed to power is
- 27:26Speaker 1: unlike anything that I've seen, just in terms of how
- 27:29Speaker 1: dynamic and explosively is. I posted a couple of plays
- 27:32Speaker 1: his first two three steps up the field and when
- 27:34Speaker 1: he transitioned speed to power, it's a rap man like
- 27:37Speaker 1: you are on roller skates. Nobody's anchoring that. He just
- 27:39Speaker 1: throws tackles port Dillard. I felt bad for Andre Dillard.
- 27:42Speaker 1: That's a rough one for him trying to stop that charge.
- 27:44Speaker 1: It's not gonna happen. But Jim Schwartz has this defense rolling.
- 27:49Speaker 1: And Jim Schwartz, you know, I think he had been
- 27:51Speaker 1: consulting with the Titans after he left the Eagles as well,
- 27:54Speaker 1: so I'm sure he knew he knew what the issues
- 27:56Speaker 1: were there, and he was able to attack them very,
- 27:59Speaker 1: very specifically. But two takeaways from the game, but that
- 28:02Speaker 1: one and Buck I'll get it to you after this,
- 28:03Speaker 1: but you can go either any way you want. But
- 28:06Speaker 1: that was the first one was Miles Garrett. Then I
- 28:08Speaker 1: was like, you know what, Deshaun Watson. Gosh, I look
- 28:10Speaker 1: at the box score. So then I'm like, I want
- 28:11Speaker 1: to watch the game and see what I discovered. So
- 28:13Speaker 1: as I'm watching it, I'm sitting here thinking, Okay, this
- 28:16Speaker 1: is he's like two different players when when what we've
- 28:19Speaker 1: said in the past is I don't know how great
- 28:20Speaker 1: this offense fits him. So I'm like, you know, I'm
- 28:23Speaker 1: watching it and I'm charting and I'm like, you know,
- 28:25Speaker 1: I nein't got to go to PFF afterwards and see
- 28:27Speaker 1: what these numbers are, because this is what stands out
- 28:29Speaker 1: to me is he is infinitely more comfortable in the gun,
- 28:32Speaker 1: no shotgun, I mean, no no play action. He's different.
- 28:35Speaker 1: A lot of quarterbacks prefer the play action. It simplifies looks,
- 28:37Speaker 1: it gives them, it gives them more space and depth.
- 28:40Speaker 1: He has always been more comfortable in a catch rock
- 28:43Speaker 1: and throw gun attacks. What he did in college, it's
- 28:45Speaker 1: what he did in Houston under center. Play action doesn't
- 28:48Speaker 1: it's not him. That's not who he is and not
- 28:50Speaker 1: what he does best. So I'm watching, I'm like, okay,
- 28:52Speaker 1: let me go pull up these numbers and you can
- 28:54Speaker 1: do it pretty easy here. So when they were on
- 28:57Speaker 1: play action and it wasn't bad, but on play action action,
- 29:00Speaker 1: he was nine to fifteen. Okay, he had a touchdown
- 29:05Speaker 1: nine to fifteen for one hundred and twelve yards, but
- 29:08Speaker 1: he was saying he took three sacks there. So nine
- 29:12Speaker 1: to fifteen took three sacks, one hundred and twelve yards
- 29:16Speaker 1: and a touchdown. Now let's go to non play action, which,
- 29:18Speaker 1: again most quarterbacks like play action. On non play action.
- 29:22Speaker 1: He was eighteen for twenty two with a drop included
- 29:25Speaker 1: in that should have been nineteen for twenty two for
- 29:27Speaker 1: one hundred and seventy seven yards. He had a touchdown,
- 29:31Speaker 1: no picks, no sacks like that is. At some point
- 29:35Speaker 1: in time they got to put it together of like, Okay,
- 29:37Speaker 1: I know what we've done, and I know if I'm
- 29:40Speaker 1: Kevin Stefanski, what I'm comfortable with. That's not him. He
- 29:43Speaker 1: is not a play action quarterback. He's not an under
- 29:45Speaker 1: center quarterback. Put that dude in the gun and as
- 29:49Speaker 1: buck as you like to say, it is spread and shred.
- 29:51Speaker 1: That's who Deshaun Watson is.
- 29:53Speaker 4: So if you go back and we talked about the quarterback,
- 29:56Speaker 4: that's how he's played his entire life.
- 29:58Speaker 5: He didn't play under s in Clemson.
- 30:01Speaker 4: When you look at the best of Deshaun Watson going
- 30:03Speaker 4: back to Clemson, it was shotgun, ball out RPOs.
- 30:07Speaker 5: Quick game, quick rhythm thrower. Let him go to work.
- 30:10Speaker 5: When you go and you.
- 30:10Speaker 4: Think about what they did in Houston with him, it
- 30:13Speaker 4: was shotguns, spread it out, give me the matchups, I'll
- 30:16Speaker 4: figure it out.
- 30:17Speaker 5: DJ.
- 30:17Speaker 4: That's him and what you're seeing and it's a great
- 30:20Speaker 4: observation by you. He's a much different player when he's
- 30:24Speaker 4: under center than when he's in the gun and doing
- 30:26Speaker 4: what he's always done. Will Kevin Stefanski and that crew
- 30:29Speaker 4: be able to say, Hey, guys, I know our playbook
- 30:31Speaker 4: is built around these things, but the player does this
- 30:36Speaker 4: stuff well. And it's the hardest thing for any coach
- 30:38Speaker 4: to admit. Man, I love all this stuff, but I
- 30:40Speaker 4: spent all season drawing up all my stuff. But my
- 30:43Speaker 4: players do something different. They play better doing something that.
- 30:48Speaker 4: You got to meet him where he's at because they're
- 30:50Speaker 4: going to need him to play at his best, and
- 30:51Speaker 4: playing at his best is in the gun.
- 30:53Speaker 1: And it's it's not even and it's not even like
- 30:56Speaker 1: just play action under center, Buck, he's in the gun.
- 30:59Speaker 1: If he's they use some they use him in the gun,
- 31:01Speaker 1: ride play action pistol player. He's not He's not comfortable
- 31:04Speaker 1: in any of it. He's just better. Just put him
- 31:06Speaker 1: in the side saddle, go empty, whatever you got to do.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Just let him take a three step from the gun
- 31:10Speaker 1: rat and let him pick and stick there.
- 31:12Speaker 2: And look, it's it's about time that they start to
- 31:15Speaker 2: figure out right what he wants, what he does well.
- 31:18Speaker 2: I mean like it's you know, I know they haven't
- 31:19Speaker 2: played a full season yet, but he'd been around now
- 31:21Speaker 2: for a while.
- 31:22Speaker 3: Like you hope they can build on this.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Meanwhile for the Titans, like I mean, I asked this
- 31:27Speaker 2: us just to you DJ, and then we can we
- 31:29Speaker 2: can move past this game. But is there a team
- 31:31Speaker 2: with a smaller margin for error offensively or really team
- 31:36Speaker 2: wide than the Tennessee Titans. Like if they can't dominate
- 31:40Speaker 2: on the ground with the King, with Derrick Henry.
- 31:44Speaker 3: It's over, Like they just they don't.
- 31:46Speaker 1: Have those are the two players and Henry.
- 31:53Speaker 2: And it just feels like, you know, at some point,
- 31:55Speaker 2: are we like, okay, this the way we are currently
- 31:57Speaker 2: constructed is going to allow us to find suctin sustained
- 32:02Speaker 2: success much longer. Like I think after this year, you know,
- 32:05Speaker 2: I'm gonna be looking at some you know, some pretty
- 32:07Speaker 2: significant roster changes.
- 32:09Speaker 1: Well. I think Jim Schwartz watched that tape against the
- 32:11Speaker 1: Chargers too and realized, look, they hit two home run
- 32:13Speaker 1: balls on the Chargers. Chargers just got caught, and Jim
- 32:17Speaker 1: Schartz like that ain't happening. You've got to have to
- 32:19Speaker 1: march the ball against us, and we're gonna and this
- 32:21Speaker 1: is not gonna happen, not gonna give that up at
- 32:23Speaker 1: three points. So and the Cleveland Browns look that that's
- 32:26Speaker 1: a great We talk about scheme and player. I don't
- 32:29Speaker 1: know there's a better fit. You know, when you look
- 32:31Speaker 1: at Jim Schwartz with the personality has it's it's a
- 32:34Speaker 1: really really good fit there.
- 32:35Speaker 5: Buck.
- 32:36Speaker 1: We teased this game at the top. We talked about
- 32:37Speaker 1: at the top. We couldn't avoid it. But we can
- 32:40Speaker 1: go a little deeper if you'd like. Here on the
- 32:41Speaker 1: Dolphins seventy burger they put on the Broncos.
- 32:45Speaker 3: H what do you got for us?
- 32:47Speaker 4: But no, this is what everyone wanted to see from
- 32:50Speaker 4: this offense when MIAMC Games took over. So what we
- 32:52Speaker 4: wanted and what we thought we were getting from the
- 32:54Speaker 4: Miami Dolphins when they hired McGinn. We thought we were
- 32:57Speaker 4: getting the Cols shanahan running game. Okay, So now the
- 33:01Speaker 4: first year we saw a spread attack that was built
- 33:04Speaker 4: around TOA and Tyreek Hill and the.
- 33:06Speaker 5: Fast guys outside.
- 33:08Speaker 4: So you have we just talked about building your passing
- 33:10Speaker 4: game around what the quarterback does well. So MIKEI Danias
- 33:13Speaker 4: did a great job of taking Hey Tua does a
- 33:15Speaker 4: lot of quick rhythm shows. We talked about him being
- 33:17Speaker 4: like a blackjack dealer at a Vegas casino.
- 33:20Speaker 5: That's what he does. He can get it out or whatever.
- 33:22Speaker 4: So now they've been able to take that pass attack
- 33:25Speaker 4: and then begin to put some of the Shanahan running
- 33:27Speaker 4: game with it. And when it comes together like it
- 33:31Speaker 4: came together on Sunday against the Broncos, it is a
- 33:34Speaker 4: problem because both things present different challenges to the defense
- 33:38Speaker 4: and the defensive coordinator. Obviously Ban Joseph and the Broncos
- 33:41Speaker 4: couldn't stop any of it, but it is a difficult set.
- 33:45Speaker 5: Of concepts and things to defend.
- 33:48Speaker 4: And when the Dolphins have it rolling, good luck, because
- 33:52Speaker 4: to stop the running game requires you to play a
- 33:54Speaker 4: certain weight on defense. You may have to play more
- 33:57Speaker 4: man to man to stuff the box, but you play
- 33:59Speaker 4: man to man against that track team that they have outside,
- 34:02Speaker 4: you're inviting them to bust the clock on you in
- 34:04Speaker 4: the passing game. I'm waiting for the team to crack
- 34:07Speaker 4: the code on how to defend this team. But right now,
- 34:10Speaker 4: twenty twenty three, I don't know if there's a better
- 34:13Speaker 4: offense we've seen in the Miami Dolphins.
- 34:15Speaker 2: I mean, I think we were always kind of waiting, like,
- 34:18Speaker 2: all right, we know they've got the speed, right, we
- 34:19Speaker 2: know that that Tyreek and Jalen when he's healthy, that
- 34:23Speaker 2: they can roll and they can push the ball down
- 34:25Speaker 2: the field, they can run.
- 34:26Speaker 3: Those deep overs.
- 34:27Speaker 2: I think Tyreek Hill was in the scouting report for
- 34:30Speaker 2: the Broncos this week, although they sure did leave him
- 34:32Speaker 2: uncovered on that first drive and obviously that was a
- 34:35Speaker 2: bust and so they got issues there. But I felt
- 34:39Speaker 2: like we were always kind of waiting, you know, for
- 34:41Speaker 2: what we knew was possible with a Mike McDaniel led
- 34:45Speaker 2: run game plan. And man, I don't know that you
- 34:49Speaker 2: will ever see and this is the first time we've
- 34:50Speaker 2: ever seen it. Three hundred and fifty plus passing, three
- 34:52Speaker 2: hundred and fifty plus rushing in NFL history. Like they're
- 34:55Speaker 2: not going to get that every week. But if you're
- 34:57Speaker 2: talking this team's capable of two hundred on the ground
- 34:59Speaker 2: and two fifty in the air every week, what do
- 35:02Speaker 2: you take away, DJ.
- 35:05Speaker 1: Well, I was just looking up some some numbers because
- 35:08Speaker 1: I was curious on this and I can swing it.
- 35:11Speaker 1: I can swing it back to buck quickly on this one.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But you know, comparisons. Often we look at body types first,
- 35:18Speaker 1: and that's the comparison that you make. You can have
- 35:21Speaker 1: a similar game in a different body and just just
- 35:24Speaker 1: off of this, I'm just taking Obviously this the Tyreek
- 35:27Speaker 1: one's deeper, but we'll get to the A Chane one
- 35:29Speaker 1: here in a second. But if you look at it,
- 35:31Speaker 1: the closest thing that Tyreek Hill that we've seen in
- 35:33Speaker 1: the NFL, I mean is Randy Moss. I mean, they're
- 35:36Speaker 1: totally different body types. But Randy Moss played at a
- 35:38Speaker 1: different speed and Buck you saw him, I mean, yeah,
- 35:41Speaker 1: he was just different. He looked different than everybody else.
- 35:44Speaker 1: Do you play, you watch the games every week. He's different,
- 35:46Speaker 1: He's faster than everybody. And then you look at that
- 35:49Speaker 1: same biking team. You remember in the backfield they had
- 35:51Speaker 1: Robert Smith. Now Robert Smith and A Chane and Devin
- 35:54Speaker 1: Ah Chane have totally different bodies. But I'm like, in
- 35:56Speaker 1: some weird way, Robert Smith was a track star Ohio State,
- 36:00Speaker 1: I believe went to school, so you've got he was
- 36:03Speaker 1: brackstar running back and the fastest receiver in the NFL.
- 36:07Speaker 1: In some ways, this this kind of this looks a
- 36:10Speaker 1: little bit like the old like Minnesota Vikings, that offense
- 36:13Speaker 1: that took the league over with Brian Billock is the
- 36:15Speaker 1: offensive coordinator back on those teams.
- 36:17Speaker 5: Buck, Yeah, you know what I'm try about that.
- 36:19Speaker 4: Rahie Moster also has a very accomplished, like track background.
- 36:22Speaker 5: So you just talk about.
- 36:23Speaker 4: The speed that they have and how they can attack it,
- 36:27Speaker 4: but Han gives them a different dimension.
- 36:29Speaker 5: Is one of the things.
- 36:30Speaker 4: You know, DJ, when we were doing the evaluation and
- 36:32Speaker 4: I'm looking at the running backs and so you look
- 36:34Speaker 4: at all the other guys, look at Zach from an
- 36:36Speaker 4: AEC and he's just hammering Dwayne McBride from u A
- 36:40Speaker 4: just and then I was like, I was like, okay,
- 36:42Speaker 4: then put the texta in and he's like whoa all.
- 36:45Speaker 5: Over the all over the place, and it's whatever.
- 36:48Speaker 4: And then you realize, like, oh, he's like though, and
- 36:51Speaker 4: the Dolphins have found a way to put him on
- 36:53Speaker 4: the field and allow him to uh be an effective
- 36:56Speaker 4: weapon despite his size deficiencies. And it's a album just
- 37:00Speaker 4: to speed overall, and we've said it the number one
- 37:03Speaker 4: thing that you have to have. Like we can talk
- 37:04Speaker 4: about size or whatever, but you want a fast team
- 37:07Speaker 4: because fast teams create big plays. They create turnovers on
- 37:11Speaker 4: defense because the speed is everything and the Miami Dolphins
- 37:14Speaker 4: have a similar world class track team, and because of that,
- 37:17Speaker 4: they wanted teams to be feared.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Can I ask you, can I ask you one question.
- 37:21Speaker 1: I'll go to red on this one. You put the
- 37:24Speaker 1: for sale sign up in the yard? If you're Denver,
- 37:26Speaker 1: do you say, hey, you know Simmons, maybe maybe Certain
- 37:31Speaker 1: just say hey, we gotta we got to reboot this thing.
- 37:35Speaker 3: I wouldn't do Certain.
- 37:37Speaker 2: He's a building block, all right, Like you got to
- 37:39Speaker 2: have something right that you can you can hang your
- 37:41Speaker 2: hat on.
- 37:42Speaker 3: But I feel like at some point here, you know,
- 37:44Speaker 3: you'll start.
- 37:44Speaker 2: To look at those receivers, right, Judy Sutton, you know
- 37:48Speaker 2: they they already.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Pushed that for sales sign up. They didn't get any nibbles.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I'm talking about real assets. I'm talking about real dudes,
- 37:54Speaker 1: and say we are going to take this down to
- 37:56Speaker 1: these studs.
- 37:58Speaker 5: Yeah, it's funny.
- 38:00Speaker 4: Did you chompaign comments about trying to win the off
- 38:04Speaker 4: season and all the other stuff, Like they had a
- 38:06Speaker 4: team that was trying to win the off season, and
- 38:08Speaker 4: they spend so much time worrying about that that they
- 38:10Speaker 4: didn't necessarily build a team I mean.
- 38:12Speaker 5: He definitely is firing all shots.
- 38:15Speaker 4: I mean he kind of threw the management team and
- 38:17Speaker 4: everybody under the bus about the construction of the squad.
- 38:20Speaker 4: But they're not a good squad right now. And we
- 38:22Speaker 4: can put it all over Russ for a minute, but
- 38:24Speaker 4: it's beyond that. You give him seventy points and you
- 38:26Speaker 4: play the way that they play. It's more than just
- 38:28Speaker 4: Russell Wilson.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Why don't you reunite Why don't you have Joe call,
- 38:33Speaker 2: call Sean and see if we could reunite Hacket with
- 38:36Speaker 2: with Russell Wilson again.
- 38:38Speaker 1: If that don't work, have like eighty five, have like
- 38:42Speaker 1: eighty five, what like ninety million dollars on a quarterback room.
- 38:46Speaker 5: They'll go, well, so, but.
- 38:49Speaker 1: Anyway, I wouldn't. I'm out of who the player would be.
- 38:51Speaker 1: I don't know who it would be, but I could.
- 38:52Speaker 3: I just think, Yeah, I mean run the under the bottom. Yeah,
- 38:57Speaker 3: I think you're on the right track though.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, let's get to the next one here.
- 39:01Speaker 1: Rhtt are you up here? What do we got?
- 39:03Speaker 3: Yeah? We talking bears chiefs now yep. Oh, Because this.
- 39:09Speaker 1: All right? If you do one Taylor Swift pun I'm
- 39:13Speaker 1: gonna kick you off the show. So just no, that's
- 39:15Speaker 1: not allowed.
- 39:15Speaker 5: DJ.
- 39:16Speaker 2: I had planned to not mention the Chiefs, Okay, not
- 39:20Speaker 2: at all, because.
- 39:21Speaker 1: They did what they did.
- 39:22Speaker 3: What they do.
- 39:23Speaker 2: They beat up on teams are supposed to beat up on.
- 39:25Speaker 2: They're far better personnel wise, scheme wise, coaching staff wise
- 39:28Speaker 2: than the Bears right now. And they showed it and
- 39:30Speaker 2: they proved it. So let's dig in on the disaster
- 39:33Speaker 2: that is the Bears offense here for a second. So
- 39:35Speaker 2: I just kind of went in and wanted to see
- 39:36Speaker 2: what this thing looked like. And I watched the first
- 39:39Speaker 2: drop back from Justin Fields. He's in his own end zone,
- 39:42Speaker 2: which you know is in a great start, but he
- 39:44Speaker 2: actually makes a really he makes a really good play,
- 39:47Speaker 2: like he gets out of some trouble, like he is
- 39:49Speaker 2: scrambling for his life out to the right, makes a
- 39:52Speaker 2: pinpoint throw and they get like a ten twelve yard game,
- 39:55Speaker 2: get and get some breathing room. And I watched the
- 39:58Speaker 2: second play and the right guard gets absolutely destroyed and Fields,
- 40:02Speaker 2: you know, is in trouble like from the jump and
- 40:05Speaker 2: it wasn't even Chris Jones, right, And so then the
- 40:09Speaker 2: third play, Casey has the deal. They have four guys
- 40:13Speaker 2: ready to tackle what essentially is a two man route combo.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Both guys going vertical down the field. Nobody open, nobody
- 40:21Speaker 2: open fields throws in DJ Morre's direction, but they got
- 40:24Speaker 2: no chance at It's essentially a throwaway, and he's getting
- 40:26Speaker 2: pressure by the way because he's holding it, waiting, waiting.
- 40:29Speaker 2: Nobody's there. All right, next play he gets good. This
- 40:32Speaker 2: is all in like the first quarter here, and I
- 40:34Speaker 2: was like, all.
- 40:34Speaker 1: Right, please don't do too much more of this. This
- 40:36Speaker 1: is painful, listen, I know, but I'm.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Just telling you it gets gets good protection. Another two
- 40:41Speaker 2: man deeper route combo. Again, no shot, Like they keep
- 40:44Speaker 2: challenging it deep down the field with two guys and
- 40:46Speaker 2: there's nobody in the middle of the field for high
- 40:49Speaker 2: percentage completions, I mean like the third and six, third
- 40:52Speaker 2: and seven, and they've got these deep routes well covered.
- 40:55Speaker 2: There's nobody challenging the sticks but nobody they're sending a
- 40:59Speaker 2: little delay out to the flat like at the.
- 41:01Speaker 3: End, but in the field is just sitting there.
- 41:04Speaker 2: Here's a sitting duck and it's just like a microcosm
- 41:08Speaker 2: of that you know, ten to twelve place secrets sequence
- 41:10Speaker 2: that I'm talking about like a microcosm of what we're
- 41:13Speaker 2: talking about here, Like for the whole game, I don't know,
- 41:16Speaker 2: part of it's on justice and like everybody takes a
- 41:18Speaker 2: piece of the blame here, I think is the ultimate conclusion.
- 41:20Speaker 5: Such, it's such a crazy thing to watch.
- 41:23Speaker 4: I mean, I understand his challenges in those things, but
- 41:27Speaker 4: just the level of inebstitute from this offense is beyond belief,
- 41:31Speaker 4: from personnel to scheming to just the executions quarterback and others.
- 41:37Speaker 5: It is crazy.
- 41:37Speaker 4: And to come off the week that they had when
- 41:39Speaker 4: everyone is talking all the conversation and.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Man, that was a bad that's a bad week for them,
- 41:45Speaker 1: And that's not the opponent you want to face coming
- 41:47Speaker 1: off oh, really bad week.
- 41:48Speaker 2: Yeah, usually find refuge in between the white lines and.
- 41:53Speaker 4: Yeah, and they got and they got beat the sleeping
- 41:56Speaker 4: I don't know where it goes. They've lost thirteen in
- 41:58Speaker 4: a row for the first time in franchise history. Uh,
- 42:01Speaker 4: they don't have any confidence as a team. If you're
- 42:03Speaker 4: mad ALUs, I mean, I don't know even know where
- 42:06Speaker 4: you start, you know, like trying to figure out how
- 42:08Speaker 4: to how to pick up the pieces on this team
- 42:11Speaker 4: on the offense, on the quarterback.
- 42:14Speaker 2: Man.
- 42:14Speaker 5: That's a tough one. Tough one.
- 42:15Speaker 2: The weird the weird thing is like, yo, if you
- 42:17Speaker 2: wanted to make a change, like where are you going offensively?
- 42:21Speaker 2: Like if you're saying like it's not working with Luke Getzi,
- 42:24Speaker 2: you know, like all right, now, what you know?
- 42:27Speaker 3: I feel like it's taken this long to get to
- 42:29Speaker 3: this point, you know where like you've.
- 42:31Speaker 2: Been trying to find all right, give them some time
- 42:33Speaker 2: to get used to each other, to figure things out
- 42:35Speaker 2: a little bit.
- 42:36Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't know that there's an easy
- 42:39Speaker 3: solution here.
- 42:42Speaker 1: I don't think that solution comes. So to warn Detroit
- 42:45Speaker 1: for the draft, that's when that solution comes. Yeah, we'll see,
- 42:48Speaker 1: you know, we'll see who all's who allys left there.
- 42:50Speaker 1: But that's this current mix is not good. I can't
- 42:53Speaker 1: even spend any more time on this because this is
- 42:55Speaker 1: just like it's painful. They're there and there's the reason
- 42:58Speaker 1: why the Jets Patriots is not on.
- 43:02Speaker 2: I don't you know what, DJ, I don't think they
- 43:03Speaker 2: can shake it off, you know, I just don't.
- 43:05Speaker 5: Think they can.
- 43:06Speaker 1: So bad, that's so bad. I thought you're I thought
- 43:13Speaker 1: you were gonna go somewhere ELSEI I thought, you know,
- 43:14Speaker 1: if they just love to see him just get to seventeen,
- 43:18Speaker 1: you know, can they just yes? All right, that's why
- 43:21Speaker 1: I said no. I didn't want to go down that road.
- 43:23Speaker 1: But that's also why Patriots. So for those that are listening, going,
- 43:26Speaker 1: is he going to break down Patriots Jets? No, because
- 43:28Speaker 1: I didn't want to subject myself to having to watch that.
- 43:30Speaker 1: I didn't see the game. I was at another game
- 43:32Speaker 1: this morning. I have so much time. There's games I
- 43:35Speaker 1: want to study, There's things I'm curious about. Out of
- 43:37Speaker 1: respect for the game, I can't do it. I can't
- 43:39Speaker 1: do that. I didn't want. I just didn't want to
- 43:41Speaker 1: spend my Monday morning watching that. I couldn't do it.
- 43:44Speaker 5: All right.
- 43:44Speaker 1: The Sunday night Er Steelers beat the Raiders twenty three
- 43:49Speaker 1: to eighteen.
- 43:50Speaker 5: TT.
- 43:50Speaker 1: I'll let you get back on the decision here, because
- 43:52Speaker 1: we've been you know, I think we have the numbers,
- 43:54Speaker 1: the odds. You can read those off here in just
- 43:56Speaker 1: a minute. Yeah, McDaniel's going for it late, which was
- 43:58Speaker 1: very curious, to say the least. I'll just say this
- 44:00Speaker 1: a couple things. Yeh, can he Pickett? I thought he
- 44:02Speaker 1: played well. I thought he trusted his eyes. I thought
- 44:05Speaker 1: he threw the ball well. I thought it made sense
- 44:07Speaker 1: what they were doing. They mixed in some screens, they
- 44:10Speaker 1: took shots down the field. He just looked like it
- 44:13Speaker 1: was I don't want to say screw it, but it
- 44:16Speaker 1: was just kind of he was just like, you know what,
- 44:18Speaker 1: just I'm just gonna play. I'm just gonna sit back here,
- 44:20Speaker 1: I'm gonna hit my back foot, I'm gonna trust it,
- 44:22Speaker 1: and I'm gonna let it rip. There was no hesitancy.
- 44:25Speaker 1: I thought there was a little he was a little
- 44:26Speaker 1: unsure early in the season. In those first couple of games.
- 44:28Speaker 1: He just wasn't playing with confidence, and I thought it
- 44:31Speaker 1: was just kind of a screw it type game. He
- 44:33Speaker 1: was like, you know, no, I'm gonna take my shots wherever,
- 44:35Speaker 1: wherever they are. I'm gonna use my legs and create,
- 44:37Speaker 1: which he did, which I love to see because he's
- 44:40Speaker 1: really athletic when he gets on the move. I just
- 44:42Speaker 1: thought I thought he did it.
- 44:43Speaker 5: Really.
- 44:43Speaker 1: I thought he did a really nice shot. With their defense.
- 44:46Speaker 1: If he plays just that, that's the bar he plays
- 44:48Speaker 1: at that level, there'll be a playoff team because the
- 44:50Speaker 1: defense is so good.
- 44:51Speaker 2: Yeah, and he used his athleticism a little bit too.
- 44:54Speaker 2: On a number of plays he kind of got out
- 44:55Speaker 2: of the pocket and showcase that he can, you know,
- 44:57Speaker 2: actually make some moves. The throw down field Alvin Austin
- 45:00Speaker 2: was awesome, Like that was a heck of a way
- 45:02Speaker 2: to start the game right on that deep shot and
- 45:05Speaker 2: it gave the.
- 45:05Speaker 1: Little guys big yeah there it is, see all right.
- 45:09Speaker 2: So this is courtesy of our our buddy Bill Smith,
- 45:12Speaker 2: who does a great job with all the analytics and
- 45:14Speaker 2: research for us, and you put this in here on
- 45:17Speaker 2: this email from Bill who was talking about the win
- 45:20Speaker 2: probability percentages based on the decision making from Josh McDaniel.
- 45:24Speaker 3: So let me just run through this first part to
- 45:26Speaker 3: set the stage here.
- 45:27Speaker 2: They had the ball at the three point fifteen mark
- 45:30Speaker 2: of the fourth quarter, down eight, right, so one score game,
- 45:34Speaker 2: need a touchdown, two point conversion. They got a fourth
- 45:36Speaker 2: and five from the Pittsburgh twenty nine. They decided to
- 45:39Speaker 2: opt for a Daniel Carlston field goal at that point,
- 45:43Speaker 2: which they kicked and it was good. I was like,
- 45:45Speaker 2: you know what, at that point, all right, I get it.
- 45:47Speaker 2: There's three fifteen left. Like, even if you don't get
- 45:49Speaker 2: the stop on you know, they get a first down,
- 45:51Speaker 2: you're still okay, you have all three timeouts to the
- 45:53Speaker 2: two minute warning.
- 45:54Speaker 3: I understand. I kind of understood it at that point.
- 45:56Speaker 2: Right then they actually get you know, some good fortune,
- 46:00Speaker 2: and there's a penalty call leverage call on Demarvin Leal,
- 46:04Speaker 2: and so they actually get a personal foul fifteen yards
- 46:06Speaker 2: moving the ball down the field. They take the three
- 46:08Speaker 2: off the board and they're trying to go get the touchdown. Well,
- 46:11Speaker 2: then a whole nother minute comes off the clock and
- 46:14Speaker 2: find themselves in another fourth and four situation, this time
- 46:17Speaker 2: from the Pittsburgh eighth, and they still opt to kick
- 46:22Speaker 2: the field goal on fourth down, And so that part
- 46:25Speaker 2: of it, like the second time doing it, I was like, okay,
- 46:28Speaker 2: this this feels like this might come back to bite them.
- 46:30Speaker 1: So here's what the win probability did.
- 46:33Speaker 2: Essentially, Josh McDaniels lost five point four percent of win
- 46:35Speaker 2: probability by deciding to kick the field goal on fourth
- 46:37Speaker 2: and four with two twenty five to go. If the
- 46:41Speaker 2: win probability with the field goal was just eight point
- 46:45Speaker 2: five percent, if they would have gone for it, the
- 46:49Speaker 2: win probability was almost fourteen percent if successful on the
- 46:53Speaker 2: fourth down. The win probability is twenty six percent if
- 46:58Speaker 2: unsuccessful three point five, but the conversion probability was forty.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Yeah, he was not with the math on that one. Yeah.
- 47:09Speaker 3: And by the way, Jimmy Garoppolo was under constant duress
- 47:12Speaker 3: in this game.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Well, Jermaine the Luminar is not. That's not a great
- 47:16Speaker 1: matchup with t J.
- 47:16Speaker 5: Watt.
- 47:17Speaker 1: Let's just let's just be I'll be nice about it.
- 47:18Speaker 1: I'll leave it at that buck.
- 47:20Speaker 4: No, And for the stillness, it's just another way that
- 47:23Speaker 4: they find a way to win ugly and they just
- 47:26Speaker 4: stack enough wins until they find their stride. It's another
- 47:28Speaker 4: ugly win defensive kind of defense kind of led the way.
- 47:31Speaker 4: You're right about Kenny pickyt being able to just kind
- 47:33Speaker 4: of find enough place on offense in the passing game
- 47:37Speaker 4: to kind of keep them going. But Mike Tomlin typically
- 47:40Speaker 4: finds it out, figures it out, and as long as
- 47:42Speaker 4: they continue to win these games and whatever fashion that
- 47:44Speaker 4: they can win him in the first half of the year,
- 47:46Speaker 4: we know they're gonna be a much better team down
- 47:48Speaker 4: the stretch, uh, barring any injuries. And so they go
- 47:52Speaker 4: the two and one sit at the top of the
- 47:54Speaker 4: AFC North with Baltimore.
- 47:56Speaker 1: All right, last last game. We'll jump into here and
- 47:58Speaker 1: then maybe a couple nuggets here at the end. But
- 48:00Speaker 1: I want to start before I Bucky jumps on this game. Look,
- 48:04Speaker 1: I try to live my life with proper morals and integrity,
- 48:08Speaker 1: and when I screw up, I'll tell you I screwed up.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I've done it a million times on players I've screwed
- 48:12Speaker 1: up on. But I thought this was a slam dunk,
- 48:15Speaker 1: foregone conclusion that the Arizona Cardinals would have the first
- 48:18Speaker 1: pick in the draft. They're going to be the worst
- 48:20Speaker 1: team in the league. And all they've done is be
- 48:23Speaker 1: competitive and then go out and knock off what had
- 48:26Speaker 1: been the most dominant team in the NFL and the
- 48:28Speaker 1: Dallas Cowboys, and did it pretty convincing fashion. So Jonathan Gannon,
- 48:34Speaker 1: please accept my apology. Many Austin Ford is a good buddy.
- 48:38Speaker 1: Please accept my apology. You have put a team on
- 48:41Speaker 1: the field that is competing. Their rear ends off, and there's.
- 48:45Speaker 3: The fire of the gut. I think, yeah, we all fires.
- 48:47Speaker 1: In the gut to me, So that Buck, you can
- 48:51Speaker 1: go in on this game whatever way you want to go.
- 48:53Speaker 1: But I just wanted to issue a formal apology and
- 48:56Speaker 1: say I was wrong. I was wrong. You guys have
- 48:58Speaker 1: put a competitive product on the field. It's more than
- 49:00Speaker 1: it's been a good product for the first three weeks.
- 49:03Speaker 5: Yeah, a good product. Josh Dobbs.
- 49:04Speaker 4: How about that, Josh Dobbkins his first win of his
- 49:06Speaker 4: career as a quarterback, seven years into the league.
- 49:09Speaker 5: He finally gets it done.
- 49:10Speaker 4: There's some things that I don't even know if we
- 49:11Speaker 4: saw him do much at University of Tennessee, running his
- 49:14Speaker 4: own rings, getting outside, playing with a lot of emotion
- 49:17Speaker 4: and firepower. But this is a team that is kind
- 49:20Speaker 4: of scrappy. I didn't expect them to be scrappy, and
- 49:23Speaker 4: sometimes we can get bogged down by the I would
- 49:26Speaker 4: say awkward presser, the awkward initial press conference, or the
- 49:30Speaker 4: awkward behind the scenes stuff that we saw on Jonathan Gannon.
- 49:33Speaker 4: But whatever it is that they're selling in the building
- 49:37Speaker 4: is working. Team plays hard, team is competitive. They were
- 49:39Speaker 4: able to get a dub against I mean to get
- 49:43Speaker 4: a dub against the.
- 49:44Speaker 1: Cowboys had been crushing people. I mean they crush the Giants,
- 49:48Speaker 1: they crushed the Jets.
- 49:50Speaker 4: And so they figured out they're playing just well enough
- 49:53Speaker 4: on offense not messing it up, and in defensively they
- 49:56Speaker 4: were able to kind of get it done against the
- 49:57Speaker 4: Cowboys team that should have been able to just go
- 49:59Speaker 4: up and down the field.
- 50:00Speaker 2: It will, Yeah, I mean it, Uh just kind of shocked,
- 50:06Speaker 2: you know, watching the whole thing unfold, and I guess
- 50:08Speaker 2: we you know, maybe you know the way they played
- 50:10Speaker 2: the Giants last week, and maybe we shouldn't be, but
- 50:14Speaker 2: I think that this team will. Definitely they may not
- 50:17Speaker 2: win a ton of games this year, but they're gonna
- 50:19Speaker 2: give some people trouble. Is probably the best way that
- 50:21Speaker 2: I can. They're they're they're not laying down for anybody.
- 50:24Speaker 2: And Cowboys continue to have issues.
- 50:25Speaker 1: As we mentioned a little bit earlier in the red
- 50:27Speaker 1: Zone that has been a bugaboo continues to be an
- 50:29Speaker 1: issue for them. They've got to get that resolve and
- 50:31Speaker 1: get that fixed. I would also say, you know, one
- 50:33Speaker 1: of the one of the storylines that maybe didn't pay
- 50:36Speaker 1: attention to in this one is that Jonathan Gannon has
- 50:38Speaker 1: been in Philadelphia. He's very familiar with Dallas, he's very
- 50:40Speaker 1: familiar with their personnel, and maybe that played a part
- 50:43Speaker 1: in here as they were able to get a big
- 50:44Speaker 1: win all right through some of these other games real quick.
- 50:48Speaker 1: I'll just run through them. If there'snything else you guys
- 50:50Speaker 1: want to add Patriots Jets. As I mentioned, it's Zach Wilson.
- 50:53Speaker 1: It's not working. It's there's no no, nothing else needs
- 50:57Speaker 1: to be said. It's like to me in high school,
- 50:59Speaker 1: if you're failing Spanish too, and you drop the course
- 51:01Speaker 1: so you can pick up a teacher's assistant class, and
- 51:03Speaker 1: two weeks later they throw you back in Spanish too,
- 51:05Speaker 1: You're like, I don't want to be in here. All right,
- 51:07Speaker 1: field this I dropped this class. What are you doing me?
- 51:12Speaker 1: Let me just let me just help this teacher? Great,
- 51:14Speaker 1: some papers over here, like what, I don't want to
- 51:16Speaker 1: do this, but they've got to figure something out there.
- 51:19Speaker 1: The Bills and the Commanders with that was a butt kicking.
- 51:21Speaker 1: The Bill's thirty seven to three. All is right, Buffalo right.
- 51:24Speaker 3: Now, Bill's defense. That's I think it's for real.
- 51:27Speaker 2: And you know what, they lost Tremaine Edmonds in free agency,
- 51:31Speaker 2: but that linebacker corps might be better this year with
- 51:33Speaker 2: Terrell Bernard and not Milano.
- 51:35Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 51:35Speaker 3: Bernard was incredible this last week.
- 51:38Speaker 1: And then Colts Ravens maybe one of the biggest surprises
- 51:41Speaker 1: on that one buck the Colts with Gardner Minshew, they
- 51:44Speaker 1: go and I know the Ravens are missing seven starters. Nonetheless,
- 51:46Speaker 1: that is not an easy place to play, and that
- 51:48Speaker 1: is a rivalry they take seriously in Baltimore for obvious reasons.
- 51:51Speaker 1: That's a big win for the Colts.
- 51:53Speaker 4: Yeah, big win for the Coles. Gana Minchew finds a
- 51:55Speaker 4: way to kind of make enough place. Now he also
- 51:57Speaker 4: has some bonehead blunders it he did it, but they
- 52:00Speaker 4: were able to overcome it. But how about the day
- 52:04Speaker 4: for the kicker being able to knock you down, being.
- 52:06Speaker 1: Able to get its four from fifty plus.
- 52:09Speaker 4: I mean that's unbelievable. Like they have a long distant kicker.
- 52:11Speaker 4: So you never really like kickers until you need a kicker.
- 52:15Speaker 4: Indianapolis Colts soon may have a greater appreciation for the
- 52:17Speaker 4: kicking game.
- 52:18Speaker 2: No one loves competing and playing football. I can't say
- 52:22Speaker 2: no one. There are a few who love competing and
- 52:25Speaker 2: playing football as much as Gardner Minshew does. Like the
- 52:27Speaker 2: joy that dude plays with is awesome.
- 52:31Speaker 1: I would also add one more thing on those guys, Uh,
- 52:34Speaker 1: they got after the passer a little bit with their
- 52:35Speaker 1: defensive front. Let's see, say or Franklin had a sack,
- 52:39Speaker 1: Cam had a sack. Quity pays gonna be a good player,
- 52:42Speaker 1: starting to come into his own. He had one. Tavi
- 52:44Speaker 1: and Brian had one, So they've did a nice Brian,
- 52:49Speaker 1: I know, how about that? Be honest with yourself. Did
- 52:53Speaker 1: you know that Tavi and Brian was playing for the
- 52:55Speaker 1: Colts right now? Be honest there? Pick Yeah, last one.
- 53:01Speaker 1: I didn't see any of this game, so I can't
- 53:03Speaker 1: comment on it. But Panthers Seahawks. The Seahawks win that one,
- 53:07Speaker 1: thirty seven twenty seven. Either of you guys catch any
- 53:09Speaker 1: of that one.
- 53:10Speaker 2: I caught the stiff arm that Zach Charboney put on
- 53:14Speaker 2: a Panthers unsuspecting member of the secondary on his way
- 53:18Speaker 2: to the end zone. Charbon Ay and Kenneth Walker essentially
- 53:23Speaker 2: are the That's the way they.
- 53:24Speaker 3: Want to win, and they're going to beat you up
- 53:27Speaker 3: doing it.
- 53:28Speaker 4: Yeah, it's old school. It's old school for them, as
- 53:30Speaker 4: Pete Carroll, and it's the way that they want to play.
- 53:32Speaker 4: They want to beat you up, they want to run it,
- 53:34Speaker 4: they want to play defense, and they've been able to
- 53:36Speaker 4: do it for a long time in Seattle, so no
- 53:37Speaker 4: need for them to change it.
- 53:40Speaker 1: All right, guys, So this is this was fun. Man
- 53:42Speaker 1: went through. We went through a bunch of stuff today.
- 53:44Speaker 1: I always love it when we kind of get in
- 53:45Speaker 1: some of those deeper discussions as were able to do.
- 53:47Speaker 1: Really enjoyed it. You know what I'm doing. I'm off
- 53:49Speaker 1: to go buy a texedo because my daughter's getting married
- 53:51Speaker 1: in two weeks. Two weeks, two weeks, just getting married,
- 53:55Speaker 1: and so I've got to I was going to rent
- 54:00Speaker 1: by thing, and I somehow convinced myself that you know what,
- 54:03Speaker 1: there might be other big, big events and uh then
- 54:06Speaker 1: I'll never have to run a tuxedo again. Wow, it'd
- 54:09Speaker 1: be this could be flawed thinking. I know he is
- 54:13Speaker 1: my he is my clothing consultant. I'm going to be
- 54:16Speaker 1: at Nordstrom in about two hours. If you'd like to
- 54:20Speaker 1: meet me down at Fashion Valley in San Diego in
- 54:22Speaker 1: two hours. Fortune to get there, so quick quick question,
- 54:26Speaker 1: quick pull for the group pair for the panel tuxedo,
- 54:29Speaker 1: we go long tire bow tie.
- 54:32Speaker 2: I mean, you want to be classic or you want
- 54:34Speaker 2: to be a little bit more like polish Modern is
- 54:38Speaker 2: going to send you with the with the tie.
- 54:39Speaker 4: Okay, but I think I think James Bond style, you
- 54:42Speaker 4: got to go to bowtie dude like that.
- 54:45Speaker 5: You got to go Sean Connery. I would expect you
- 54:48Speaker 5: to be very uh, debon and dapper.
- 54:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I can see you as a as a bow
- 54:52Speaker 1: tie guy.
- 54:53Speaker 3: I think.
- 54:54Speaker 1: Okay, I feel like I don't want to be the
- 54:56Speaker 1: person who's trying too hard. I want to be a
- 54:59Speaker 1: properly aged apparel forty five years old.
- 55:03Speaker 5: I think.
- 55:04Speaker 4: I think I think the shoe game is really more important.
- 55:06Speaker 4: Make sure we get we have some nice shoes.
- 55:08Speaker 1: I got the shiny too. I think there are are
- 55:10Speaker 1: you going are you going like a shiny black?
- 55:13Speaker 5: Are you going with the pad and leather? You're going
- 55:14Speaker 5: with the pad and leather joints? Make sure you get
- 55:15Speaker 5: a good, nice nice.
- 55:17Speaker 1: So would you go leather over the shine man? Well
- 55:20Speaker 1: oh no no, but.
- 55:21Speaker 4: I'm saying, but like, if you're going to do it,
- 55:22Speaker 4: you got to do it the right way. Don't don't
- 55:23Speaker 4: have those rental joints.
- 55:24Speaker 1: Just make sure they're looking good. Yeah, yeah, but answer
- 55:28Speaker 1: me the question. You know what I'm talking like, do
- 55:29Speaker 1: they need to be like, oh shiny like you can classic? Yeah,
- 55:34Speaker 1: you've got to have the sta face them.
- 55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, okay, and bull.
- 55:39Speaker 4: Tie and you need to practice you like that first
- 55:43Speaker 4: dance and all that other stuff.
- 55:44Speaker 1: You got to get yourself ready. No, the best part
- 55:46Speaker 1: about it, you know, the best part about that. I'm
- 55:48Speaker 1: glad you mentioned that my daughter did me a solid
- 55:51Speaker 1: on that and she was like, look, you know, it's
- 55:53Speaker 1: kind of it's kind of a weird part of the
- 55:54Speaker 1: wedding is that everybody's just staring at you doing the
- 55:58Speaker 1: father daughter dance. The first dance off, She's like, so
- 56:00Speaker 1: she cut the songs down to a minute, so she's like, hey,
- 56:04Speaker 1: that's hey work, that's a couple of these one chorus,
- 56:08Speaker 1: we are done, one twirl and then boom, let's get
- 56:10Speaker 1: on with the show here. So that's uh, that's big. Yeah,
- 56:14Speaker 1: I can believe that night. Yeah, she's twenty two years old,
- 56:16Speaker 1: just getting married in two weeks. So it's busy for
- 56:19Speaker 1: for me over here. Okay, yeah, very busy, hotly smokes.
- 56:23Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 56:23Speaker 1: So I'll say I'll let you guys know, I'll send
- 56:24Speaker 1: you a text if I go bow tire a regular time.
- 56:26Speaker 1: I think I'm waiting towards the bow ta I think
- 56:28Speaker 1: I like that more of a classic age appropriate.
- 56:30Speaker 3: Look, Yeah, you're gonna be a good shaped all right.
- 56:33Speaker 1: I appreciate Uh. If you have. If you want to
- 56:34Speaker 1: weigh in on that, go ahead and send us, send
- 56:36Speaker 1: me a tweet down that let me know, leave us
- 56:37Speaker 1: a review.
- 56:38Speaker 5: We appreciate that.
- 56:39Speaker 1: In the review, yeah, leave us a rating and review,
- 56:40Speaker 1: and let me know if I should wear a long
- 56:42Speaker 1: tire of bow tie. I appreciate it, all right. We
- 56:45Speaker 1: got plenty more coming your way this week four more episodes.
- 56:47Speaker 1: Be on the lookout for those, including number one thousand,
- 56:52Speaker 1: the thousandth Move the Sticks episode. Uh, that's going to
- 56:55Speaker 1: be coming your way. I believe Friday is when that's
- 56:57Speaker 1: going to air, So be on the lookout for that. Anyways,
- 57:00Speaker 1: we'll see you next time right here on Move Sticks.
- 57:22Speaker 4: Mhmm.
