- 0:09Speaker 1: Welcome to the Favorites presented by Draft Kings.
- 0:12Speaker 2: The Crown is yours.
- 0:13Speaker 1: We are an Action Network podcast. I'm Brandon Kravitz, back
- 0:17Speaker 1: at it with the crew. The first Lady of the pod,
- 0:19Speaker 1: Kendra Middleton, has returned from her travels and the Prime
- 0:25Speaker 1: Minister of Primers, Evan Abrams, sliding in ver Stucky today.
- 0:32Speaker 1: Kendra first and foremost, Welcome back to the pod. How
- 0:35Speaker 1: was Portugal?
- 0:36Speaker 3: Thank you? It was so good? Highly recommend I had
- 0:40Speaker 3: a lot of wine, lots of food. If you're a
- 0:42Speaker 3: picky eater, you won't love Portugal.
- 0:43Speaker 4: But if you are not a picky eater, it is
- 0:46Speaker 4: a fat person's dreamland.
- 0:48Speaker 3: The food is so good, the pastries are so good.
- 0:51Speaker 3: I had a great time. And the wine.
- 0:54Speaker 4: I will say, if you don't love port wine, probably
- 0:57Speaker 4: not the best.
- 0:58Speaker 3: Place to go drinking. How Ever, if you like port wine,
- 1:01Speaker 3: it is heaven.
- 1:03Speaker 2: What was the best thing you did while you were there?
- 1:06Speaker 3: The best thing I did or the best thing I ate?
- 1:08Speaker 1: Mm could be both, Okay, I was going with did
- 1:12Speaker 1: like an activity of sorts.
- 1:15Speaker 4: I would say the best thing that I did was
- 1:19Speaker 4: we went to this thing called Fotto, which I was
- 1:22Speaker 4: talking to you guys a little bit before you went on,
- 1:23Speaker 4: which was cool to see. It's like a traditional Portuguese
- 1:26Speaker 4: style of dining where they sang to you while you eat.
- 1:29Speaker 4: I wish it wasn't as long, but it was really cool,
- 1:33Speaker 4: and I really just kind of appreciated like the walking
- 1:36Speaker 4: tours that we did, checking out all of the architecture,
- 1:38Speaker 4: and like their big thing, which we'll get into in
- 1:40Speaker 4: a minute, is like hand painted tiles, and.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Those were really cool.
- 1:46Speaker 4: They just really appreciate the arts and I really I
- 1:48Speaker 4: really liked that. And everything was so cheap.
- 1:51Speaker 3: So cheap.
- 1:52Speaker 4: That is a uber twenty five minute uber anywhere.
- 1:58Speaker 3: What do you think the average.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Cost eight dollars fifty dollars.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Like seven year rod which is like probably like eight
- 2:07Speaker 4: or nine US day. If you wanted to go anywhere
- 2:10Speaker 4: under fifteen minutes, it was like three bucks.
- 2:13Speaker 2: That's the dream.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Everything's so close together. Evan has some experience with that.
- 2:19Speaker 1: How many times have you been to Portugal?
- 2:22Speaker 5: Once? But I visited a few different places. The algar
- 2:25Speaker 5: was amazing, what an amazing place by the water, beach,
- 2:30Speaker 5: ish town. It just Portugal's awesome.
- 2:33Speaker 3: I agree.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Well, while you guys have been gallivanting around the world.
- 2:40Speaker 1: We've been cranking away with some content over here on
- 2:44Speaker 1: the podcast. The World Baseball Classic is underway. If you
- 2:47Speaker 1: missed any of those episodes, Sean Zarillo was dropping dimes
- 2:51Speaker 1: last week on the Favorites podcast.
- 2:54Speaker 2: Go and check that out.
- 2:55Speaker 1: There's still value to be extracted based on some of
- 2:57Speaker 1: the things that he told us.
- 2:59Speaker 2: With this turn of continuing on through.
- 3:01Speaker 1: Group play, Evan, we've dragged you out of the March
- 3:05Speaker 1: madness duldrums. We are just about a week or so
- 3:09Speaker 1: away from the start of the best tournament of the
- 3:12Speaker 1: entire year. Although I guess some soccer fans would argue,
- 3:15Speaker 1: with the World Cup being this year, perhaps that's the one.
- 3:18Speaker 2: But how is it going?
- 3:19Speaker 1: I know you got a big time primer coming up
- 3:21Speaker 1: at Actionnetwork dot Com.
- 3:23Speaker 5: Yeah, it's great. I just got to set up databases
- 3:26Speaker 5: and all that stuff for these different conference tournaments. And
- 3:31Speaker 5: it's a great time of year. I mean, this college
- 3:32Speaker 5: about it really starts today too, on Tuesday, with the
- 3:35Speaker 5: game starting at like twelve thirty Eastern. All the different conferences,
- 3:39Speaker 5: especially power conferences this week. Honestly, the biggest storyline has
- 3:43Speaker 5: been all the teams not making it. Belmont Navy. All
- 3:48Speaker 5: these really good teams getting knocked off in the conference tournament,
- 3:51Speaker 5: so it'll probably be a weaker like fourteen fifteen sixteen.
- 3:54Speaker 5: We'll do my guess.
- 3:56Speaker 1: We have a big time NFL Wave one free agency
- 4:01Speaker 1: breakdown coming up in just a moment. But first, Kendra
- 4:05Speaker 1: your weekly thoughts.
- 4:11Speaker 5: But you've been.
- 4:18Speaker 4: You guys obviously know me well enough to know that
- 4:20Speaker 4: I'm a quite outspoken person. If I don't like something,
- 4:24Speaker 4: if I think differently than you, no I will I
- 4:29Speaker 4: respect your opinion.
- 4:30Speaker 3: However, I will tell you about your ass.
- 4:33Speaker 2: That being said, that needs to be a tattoo. I
- 4:36Speaker 2: will tell you about your head.
- 4:40Speaker 4: I get tattoos when I go somewhere new, and I
- 4:43Speaker 4: fully understand that when I do that, there is a
- 4:47Speaker 4: chance that it may not be perfect, it might not
- 4:49Speaker 4: be something that I want. And like I mentioned, the
- 4:52Speaker 4: Portuguese tiles are like the big thing there and they're
- 4:56Speaker 4: obviously just like classic like pottery style tiles, and I
- 4:59Speaker 4: wanted to get a little design from one as a tattoo,
- 5:03Speaker 4: and the guy, while he was drawing it up spoke
- 5:05Speaker 4: Brazilian Portuguese, not Portugal Portuguese, which fine, still a bit
- 5:10Speaker 4: of a language barrier obviously because uh, I don't speak Portuguese.
- 5:15Speaker 4: But I told him, no outline. I just wanted, like
- 5:17Speaker 4: the outline, but he thought that I meant like the
- 5:19Speaker 4: outline of like.
- 5:20Speaker 3: The square on the tile, and he didn't know that.
- 5:24Speaker 4: I didn't want the tie like the design filled in.
- 5:27Speaker 3: I just wanted the outline.
- 5:28Speaker 4: And so he put the outline of like everything on there,
- 5:31Speaker 4: filled it out, and then started coloring it in. And
- 5:34Speaker 4: I didn't want it colored in. But because of the
- 5:37Speaker 4: conversation we had with the outline about.
- 5:39Speaker 3: The square of the tile, he didn't know that.
- 5:42Speaker 4: So I want to know because now I'm sitting here
- 5:44Speaker 4: with this tattoo, which totally fine. Like I said, I
- 5:47Speaker 4: know that these things are like there's an opportunity that
- 5:49Speaker 4: will happen, But now I have a tattoo that's not
- 5:52Speaker 4: what I wanted. Would you guys, because I looked down
- 5:55Speaker 4: and one of the little one of the little dots
- 5:58Speaker 4: had been filled in, and you can't do anything from
- 6:00Speaker 4: that point on, like it's just it is what it is.
- 6:01Speaker 4: You have to let it happen, Like there's that's one
- 6:03Speaker 4: diddle that can't be undid home skillet.
- 6:05Speaker 3: Would you have said something, or would you have just
- 6:09Speaker 3: sat there.
- 6:09Speaker 4: Like I did, because, like I said, I'll tell you
- 6:11Speaker 4: about your ass, but I just took it and sat there.
- 6:15Speaker 2: Yeah, I am.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I am confrontational on a on a necessity basis. If
- 6:22Speaker 1: it's not completely needed, I'm just gonna kind of lay
- 6:25Speaker 1: in the cut.
- 6:26Speaker 2: I talked about this last week.
- 6:28Speaker 1: On last week's episode, I sat in the doctor's office
- 6:31Speaker 1: for ninety minutes waiting for a doctor.
- 6:33Speaker 2: To come in.
- 6:34Speaker 3: You sell your tweet about that's important.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I finally said, you know, I don't think they know
- 6:39Speaker 1: I'm here. I'm gonna go ninety minutes. You know why,
- 6:43Speaker 1: because I didn't feel like ruffling any feathers. So no,
- 6:47Speaker 1: I would just let it ride and cringe the whole
- 6:49Speaker 1: time and just pray. I have no tattoos. But that
- 6:53Speaker 1: is one fear I have of getting a tattoo, is
- 6:55Speaker 1: that I ask for something and they just start drawing
- 6:58Speaker 1: something else, and I would just I would just kind
- 7:01Speaker 1: of let it ride because at that point, like you said,
- 7:03Speaker 1: what are you gonna do about it? You could say something,
- 7:05Speaker 1: but you're fucked anyway. So what's the difference.
- 7:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm gonna cut out.
- 7:09Speaker 5: I'm kind of caught here, because one, you do it
- 7:12Speaker 5: on every trip, so you're used to doing this, and
- 7:14Speaker 5: then it's the permanency of it from being permanent of
- 7:18Speaker 5: doing it. I would have said something, I don't know,
- 7:20Speaker 5: God itchy, it.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Was already done, Like I have other tattoos I.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Don't love, Like I have this microphone that I got
- 7:25Speaker 4: when I was like really young, and it was because
- 7:27Speaker 4: that I didn't at the time, I was so young,
- 7:29Speaker 4: I didn't know how to tell him that I didn't
- 7:30Speaker 4: like it, so I just let it happen.
- 7:32Speaker 5: Have you changed any of the tattoos or everything you've
- 7:35Speaker 5: done has stayed the way it is?
- 7:37Speaker 3: Everything I have probably ooh.
- 7:39Speaker 4: I think I'm getting close to twenty at this point,
- 7:42Speaker 4: and I have two that I don't love, but I've
- 7:44Speaker 4: never changed any of them.
- 7:45Speaker 5: Got it?
- 7:46Speaker 2: I'm with Evan.
- 7:47Speaker 1: I think that's I would immediately start thinking about how
- 7:49Speaker 1: can I draw around this and make this something completely
- 7:52Speaker 1: different and make a bad problem probably worse is the
- 7:56Speaker 1: way that that's the method I would do.
- 7:57Speaker 4: I think that that's why I'm not going to get
- 7:59Speaker 4: any of them change, just because I feel like I
- 8:00Speaker 4: would just make them worse.
- 8:03Speaker 1: That microphone could probably use some work though I think
- 8:05Speaker 1: we can make like you can make like a whole
- 8:07Speaker 1: like radio board, you know, let's make this.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Just give us the whole studio going on the arm.
- 8:12Speaker 4: I think I want to get it removed and redone like.
- 8:14Speaker 4: I still want what I have, just not this version of.
- 8:17Speaker 1: It that does look like more of an American Idol
- 8:21Speaker 1: microphone than the kind that we use.
- 8:23Speaker 3: I got it when I was a television.
- 8:27Speaker 5: Aspirations.
- 8:28Speaker 1: Yes, absolutely, anyway, we have five questions to get to
- 8:33Speaker 1: to recap wave one of NFL Free Agency. This has
- 8:36Speaker 1: been so much fun over the last twenty four hours.
- 8:39Speaker 1: We have seen massive moves, millions, hundreds of millions of.
- 8:43Speaker 3: Dollars, spending over two billion.
- 8:46Speaker 2: Insane, absolutely insane.
- 8:47Speaker 1: So we will start with our favorite move that we
- 8:50Speaker 1: have seen so far, and you can whatever makes it
- 8:53Speaker 1: your favorite move for whether it's because it's your team,
- 8:57Speaker 1: because it's a player that you like, you just like it,
- 8:59Speaker 1: and in terms of smart business for these NFL squads. Kendra,
- 9:04Speaker 1: we'll start with you your favorite move in NFL free agency.
- 9:08Speaker 4: I don't know if it's a favorite move for me
- 9:12Speaker 4: as a person because I hate the Chiefs, but getting
- 9:16Speaker 4: Kenneth Walker was a massive move for them, I think.
- 9:20Speaker 4: I think a lot of people on like a national
- 9:21Speaker 4: scale are just talking about how they're bringing Travis Kelce back.
- 9:25Speaker 3: They're just kind of clinging.
- 9:27Speaker 4: On to any sort of relevancy that they have with
- 9:29Speaker 4: some of the signings that they've made. But I think
- 9:31Speaker 4: that they got a lot better yesterday and this puts
- 9:34Speaker 4: this puts them a tear up from where they were.
- 9:38Speaker 4: I think that this made them a lot better. So
- 9:39Speaker 4: I don't love it in the sense that I love
- 9:41Speaker 4: the Chiefs, but I think that this was a good move.
- 9:45Speaker 3: That I also really like Travis.
- 9:47Speaker 4: I hate to see Travis Gough because I've loved Travis
- 9:50Speaker 4: Etn for the Jags obviously, and him and Trevor Lawrence
- 9:53Speaker 4: have had just such a legendary run together.
- 9:56Speaker 3: But he's just such a class act.
- 9:58Speaker 4: Guy, locker room guy, team first and I'm glad that
- 10:01Speaker 4: he gets to go home to New Orleans and play
- 10:04Speaker 4: in Louisiana once again. So I would say I don't
- 10:07Speaker 4: love the Chiefs, but loved that move for the current
- 10:09Speaker 4: situation that they have. But probably and you know, both
- 10:13Speaker 4: running backs whatever, but I love that Etn is going
- 10:15Speaker 4: home too.
- 10:16Speaker 1: I think it was really shrewd of Jacksonville and smart
- 10:19Speaker 1: to let him walk. They like the young guys they have,
- 10:23Speaker 1: They've invested a lot on the defense, they've invested a
- 10:26Speaker 1: lot at wide receiver. Trading for Jacobe Myers. That's a
- 10:30Speaker 1: tough move to make because you know Trevor Lawrence and him,
- 10:33Speaker 1: as you mentioned, they've played together since college that they
- 10:35Speaker 1: have a tight connection, and you got to piss off
- 10:37Speaker 1: your quarterback a little bit. But not bringing him back,
- 10:40Speaker 1: but not getting drunk on last season was really smart.
- 10:43Speaker 1: And sometimes the best moves are just letting guys walk
- 10:46Speaker 1: in free agency and letting somebody else overpay for them. Evan,
- 10:49Speaker 1: what are your thoughts on Kendrick's list. I have a
- 10:51Speaker 1: take on the Kenneth Walker thing, but he's on a
- 10:53Speaker 1: different category of mind, so I'll get to that in
- 10:56Speaker 1: a moment.
- 10:57Speaker 5: Etn would be probably where I would start with that.
- 11:00Speaker 5: I mean, I think that is probably the more difficult
- 11:03Speaker 5: move if you're Jacksonville to do right, like the connection
- 11:06Speaker 5: to the quarterback how many years he's been with the franchise.
- 11:09Speaker 5: But I think that's the right move. So I think
- 11:11Speaker 5: some franchises don't exactly do that. Well, I think they
- 11:14Speaker 5: did and I kind of like him in New Orleans. Obviously,
- 11:16Speaker 5: they got to figure out everything with Kamara there, but
- 11:18Speaker 5: I do think a change of scenery in that up
- 11:21Speaker 5: and coming offense, up and coming team in a weaker
- 11:24Speaker 5: division could be interesting for him. So that's my take
- 11:27Speaker 5: on ETN. Honestly, I had a list of like three
- 11:29Speaker 5: things that I kind of liked in terms of moves,
- 11:31Speaker 5: and one of them was also Walker. I think they
- 11:34Speaker 5: went after Breissee Hall last year, couldn't get it done. Obviously,
- 11:39Speaker 5: everyone has opinions on the Sharbona versus Walker, what they
- 11:42Speaker 5: did and what they didn't do kind of for that offense,
- 11:44Speaker 5: especially with sharbon ay out at the end of the season,
- 11:46Speaker 5: But I think Walker is just a good ad there.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I think it's a part of their offense that they
- 11:50Speaker 5: really really really have issues with last few years. No explosiveness.
- 11:55Speaker 5: There was that crazy stat. I believe Walker had two
- 11:59Speaker 5: twenty five yard runs on one Super Bowl drive. The
- 12:01Speaker 5: Chiefs had one of those runs all CDs in last year,
- 12:04Speaker 5: like they really really really needed this, So I agree,
- 12:08Speaker 5: and that.
- 12:08Speaker 2: Was probably from Patrick Mahomes too. On top everything else.
- 12:12Speaker 1: Is that Does that qualify as your favorite move or
- 12:15Speaker 1: do you have another that you would like.
- 12:18Speaker 5: I think Carolina, like, I just kind of like what
- 12:21Speaker 5: they did on defense. You get Phillips, which is just
- 12:26Speaker 5: to me a good move coming off of like we
- 12:30Speaker 5: thought he could have been back in his original destination,
- 12:34Speaker 5: but four years, one hundred and twenty million. Obviously the
- 12:37Speaker 5: money kind of talks in that situation and got him
- 12:39Speaker 5: to move over. And then Lloyd Like, I think it's
- 12:42Speaker 5: really difficult for Jacksonville to lose him in that situation.
- 12:45Speaker 5: But I think adding a linebacker, adding the edge, I
- 12:48Speaker 5: kind of like the moves in Carolina, like that division
- 12:50Speaker 5: is extremely unfortaking. One of my bad moves is and
- 12:53Speaker 5: I think we all agree with it would be to us.
- 12:55Speaker 5: So I think it's on the other side of I mean,
- 12:58Speaker 5: the money's not bad, paying him one and a half million,
- 13:01Speaker 5: but I just don't like to fit. So I kind
- 13:04Speaker 5: of like Carolina. I like the two defensive ads.
- 13:07Speaker 1: I like that a lot. I like strengthening of strength. Well,
- 13:11Speaker 1: do you hate it on a personal level or do
- 13:13Speaker 1: you hate it for that?
- 13:15Speaker 4: I just know it's more so the fact that that
- 13:18Speaker 4: came under so far from what I and I don't
- 13:21Speaker 4: get me wrong, I personally projected him probably in like
- 13:23Speaker 4: the twenty million dollars a year range and the fact
- 13:27Speaker 4: that it's what I think, fifteen average per year or
- 13:30Speaker 4: something like that. I I get that Jacksonville did not
- 13:33Speaker 4: have the cap space to do it, but I also
- 13:34Speaker 4: am in the camp that he would have cut them
- 13:37Speaker 4: a deal to stay and the cap is crap. I
- 13:39Speaker 4: think for that cost, they should have just figured out
- 13:43Speaker 4: a way to make it fucking work.
- 13:45Speaker 1: Yeah, they that's a big loss for the Jacksonville Jaguars
- 13:49Speaker 1: and the Panthers defense.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Are you renaming your spider or are you just gonna
- 13:54Speaker 2: roll with the open?
- 13:56Speaker 4: I'm open to debate if anyone would like to send
- 13:58Speaker 4: me a comment, tweet us something, send us a DM.
- 14:01Speaker 3: I'm open. I'm open to renaming her.
- 14:05Speaker 1: Oh can we have a renaming ceremony later in the
- 14:08Speaker 1: off season?
- 14:09Speaker 5: Yes?
- 14:09Speaker 2: Do that on an episode?
- 14:10Speaker 5: I think, Yeah, maybe we gotta figure. You got to
- 14:12Speaker 5: wait to see who you draft.
- 14:14Speaker 3: I could let her sit on my forehead for a show.
- 14:16Speaker 5: Oh great, Okay, there you go.
- 14:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Uh DIBs on not doing that, but we'll leave
- 14:23Speaker 1: that for Kendra. My favorite move. I do really like
- 14:25Speaker 1: the Panthers, and they were definitely in consideration, I'm gonna
- 14:29Speaker 1: get drunk on a thirty two year old aging wide
- 14:33Speaker 1: receiver going out west to a power plant. I love
- 14:37Speaker 1: this move Mike Evans to the forty nine ers. Talk
- 14:40Speaker 1: about a tough decision to make. This guy's spent twelve
- 14:43Speaker 1: years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and he was in
- 14:45Speaker 1: line to be one of those rare Ripkin Jeter Dan
- 14:50Speaker 1: Marino athletes that just stays with one team his whole career.
- 14:55Speaker 2: But he saw what we all see.
- 14:59Speaker 1: This Bucks team's go nowhere, and he chose to go
- 15:02Speaker 1: somewhere where he has a chance to win.
- 15:03Speaker 2: So I love it for Mike Evans.
- 15:06Speaker 1: I love it for what is easily the best division
- 15:09Speaker 1: in football right now in the NFC West. The Seahawks
- 15:12Speaker 1: just won the Super Bowl, the Rams probably have the
- 15:14Speaker 1: most loaded roster in the league, and now the forty
- 15:17Speaker 1: nine ers have perty. I think got over the hump
- 15:22Speaker 1: of is he a game manager? Was he worth the contract?
- 15:25Speaker 1: He's clearly a star level quarterback. Still have Christian McCaffrey,
- 15:28Speaker 1: George Kittle coming back, Mike Evans, Ricky Piersall, and then
- 15:34Speaker 1: their entire defense was injured last year. I think the
- 15:36Speaker 1: forty nine ers have a legitimate chance to win a
- 15:38Speaker 1: Super Bowl this year, and they had to go super
- 15:40Speaker 1: team mode if they were gonna actually have a chance,
- 15:44Speaker 1: especially with the Behemoths are going up against. So love
- 15:47Speaker 1: Evans to the forty nine ers. Evan reacting to an
- 15:52Speaker 1: old receiver.
- 15:53Speaker 4: Yes, Kendrick, are you not worried about the electromagnetic fields
- 15:56Speaker 4: in his he?
- 15:57Speaker 1: Of course I am, yes, But it's not like they
- 16:01Speaker 1: haven't had success with the A is the Are the
- 16:05Speaker 1: electromagnetic fields new or is that just a new theory
- 16:08Speaker 1: because it's.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Not like this It's been there, I believe.
- 16:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:12Speaker 4: So, I mean they've been to super off the bone
- 16:15Speaker 4: like it was on a slow cooker.
- 16:16Speaker 3: Baby, I am a little.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Worried about his his meat just fall out the bone.
- 16:21Speaker 1: That's a little more word about Evan's meat. But other
- 16:24Speaker 1: than that, you know, if I'm putting all of that
- 16:27Speaker 1: bullshit to the side, I love the move, but obviously
- 16:32Speaker 1: an aging wide receiver that's coming off of the worst
- 16:34Speaker 1: year of his career by mile.
- 16:37Speaker 5: Yeah, the contract isn't fantastic, even though I believe it's
- 16:40Speaker 5: technically like a one year deal masked as a three
- 16:44Speaker 5: year deal, like there's definitely options to get out of it.
- 16:47Speaker 5: So the three years sixty million, I think is just
- 16:49Speaker 5: a mirage in itself. But it's like one year, seventeen
- 16:53Speaker 5: million or so. I guess in certain ways, I think.
- 16:56Speaker 2: He took lots money to go to San Francisco.
- 17:00Speaker 5: And I think it's all blamed on Bowls, like the
- 17:03Speaker 5: culture in Tampa Bay. I don't like him as a
- 17:05Speaker 5: head coach. He's obviously been there a long long time
- 17:08Speaker 5: and I'm just I'm not a huge fan. And I
- 17:11Speaker 5: think Mike Evans saw an opportunity to go to a
- 17:14Speaker 5: better head coach with uh, I guess he would probably
- 17:18Speaker 5: have to say, a better quarterback, with a better defense,
- 17:22Speaker 5: and I think a team in a much much tougher division,
- 17:26Speaker 5: but probably in a situation that leads him closer to
- 17:28Speaker 5: a Super Bowl. I would guess.
- 17:31Speaker 1: Yep, yep, agreed. All right, Now let's go to the
- 17:33Speaker 1: negative side, least favorite. I'm gonna steal from the rest
- 17:36Speaker 1: of you guys because this is my burden to bear.
- 17:42Speaker 2: Tua to the Falcons.
- 17:44Speaker 1: Here, I am with my lovely seventy five to one
- 17:47Speaker 1: ticket on Atlanta to win the Super Bowl next year.
- 17:50Speaker 1: And what do they do they bring in Tua. I
- 17:53Speaker 1: can't get rid of this guy. This is gonna be
- 17:56Speaker 1: my squad in twenty twenty six. Now I have to
- 17:58Speaker 1: deal with a turnover prone porcelain doll all over again
- 18:02Speaker 1: and two lefties? Who does that? So weird? Also, isn't
- 18:06Speaker 1: this tampering guys? Tua is not technically a free agent,
- 18:09Speaker 1: so shouldn't he not be able to sign?
- 18:11Speaker 2: I'm a little confused by all of that.
- 18:13Speaker 1: But Tua to the he was released, but yeah, but
- 18:16Speaker 1: he's he was posted for release. He hasn't been released yet.
- 18:20Speaker 1: They can't really release him until June first?
- 18:24Speaker 5: Is that true?
- 18:25Speaker 2: That the letter of the law?
- 18:28Speaker 3: I didn't think about that.
- 18:29Speaker 1: Actually, I guess the NFL just decides to overlook that
- 18:32Speaker 1: because of the intent to cut.
- 18:33Speaker 2: But they can't cut him until June.
- 18:35Speaker 5: You're so upset about him going to Atlanta, you're trying
- 18:38Speaker 5: to circumvent the cap right now.
- 18:40Speaker 1: That's that really is sounds right. I'm trying to see
- 18:44Speaker 1: if I can get Atlanta in trouble, so this doesn't.
- 18:47Speaker 5: You're starting this on a podcast right now legitiately to
- 18:50Speaker 5: get the move reversed.
- 18:53Speaker 4: I think, honestly, my least favorite move I was going
- 18:55Speaker 4: to say, was Malik Willis.
- 18:57Speaker 3: So you're just double screwed.
- 19:01Speaker 2: Wow.
- 19:01Speaker 1: I so another one that is on one of my
- 19:04Speaker 1: later questions in the five.
- 19:06Speaker 2: So I will hold off on rebuttal on that.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But I will tell you tease, I completely disagree with you.
- 19:13Speaker 3: I am Oh my god, you're drinking the kool aid.
- 19:17Speaker 2: It's March.
- 19:17Speaker 1: Isn't this what we do? So your least favorite is
- 19:21Speaker 1: Malik Willis. My least favorite is Tua Evan. Where do
- 19:24Speaker 1: you land on least favorite move in the first wave?
- 19:29Speaker 5: I mean, I don't I think there's some bad moves.
- 19:31Speaker 5: I don't think Tua is a like bad move in
- 19:35Speaker 5: terms of the money. It was super cheap for Atlanta
- 19:38Speaker 5: to take a shot. Pennick's not ready, Like, I think
- 19:41Speaker 5: all of the angles of the deal with Tua makes sense.
- 19:45Speaker 5: I think from Miami's standpoint, like eating the dead cap
- 19:48Speaker 5: and then using it on Malik Willis, even though obviously
- 19:51Speaker 5: the whole front office Green Bay guys like I don't
- 19:53Speaker 5: know how that's gonna work out. Like he he showed,
- 19:56Speaker 5: he showed up well in a few games at the
- 19:59Speaker 5: end of this season, then got a big pay deal.
- 20:02Speaker 5: I guess We'll kind of see what happens. I think
- 20:04Speaker 5: the worst deals are like what Buffalo gave up for
- 20:07Speaker 5: DJ Moore. How much Detroit's kind of lost when you
- 20:11Speaker 5: look at all the people that have walked out the
- 20:13Speaker 5: door so far. The fact that the Colts pierced to
- 20:16Speaker 5: Pittman or Pittman to Pierce and then paying him all
- 20:19Speaker 5: that money, I think is an interesting choice.
- 20:23Speaker 2: I'm like, yeah, is.
- 20:25Speaker 1: There any bigger winner and free agency from a player
- 20:28Speaker 1: perspective than Alec Pierce?
- 20:30Speaker 2: And this guy was treated like he's a legit one.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah I got.
- 20:33Speaker 5: And the money and everything like that. And I think
- 20:35Speaker 5: Pittsburgh becomes interesting Dean Dowdell Pittman. Those are some fun ads. Yes,
- 20:42Speaker 5: the quarterback, well find out, Yeah, we'll find out.
- 20:46Speaker 3: Still still a miss.
- 20:48Speaker 1: We're gonna play the flag at the end of the
- 20:50Speaker 1: episode on the move that we want to see that
- 20:53Speaker 1: that still has not happened. Jack's forward and might have
- 20:58Speaker 1: might have a little look here for the steel.
- 21:00Speaker 4: He did not make you feel better about your to
- 21:03Speaker 4: a pick that at least he's in a dome and
- 21:06Speaker 4: playing still in the South.
- 21:08Speaker 1: I think Tua, I mean, I think, I honestly, I
- 21:12Speaker 1: I'm somewhat kidding when I hated as much as I
- 21:14Speaker 1: do just because I was all in. I'm all in
- 21:16Speaker 1: on the idea of the Falcons being really good this year,
- 21:19Speaker 1: but that was under the impression that Michael Fennix would
- 21:22Speaker 1: come back. I actually liked what I saw in him
- 21:25Speaker 1: and with better coaching. Kevin Stefanski is an offensive wizard
- 21:29Speaker 1: that's been working with a whole lot of nothing for
- 21:31Speaker 1: the last several years, and when he was working with
- 21:33Speaker 1: a little something, he was winning Coach of the Year.
- 21:36Speaker 1: So that and that's just a terrible division. But if
- 21:40Speaker 1: he can't go, I mean, I guess Tua is. No
- 21:44Speaker 1: one's ever said that Tua is a bad quarterback from
- 21:47Speaker 1: backup quarterback standards. He's a bad quarterback in terms of
- 21:52Speaker 1: paying him like he's Joe Burrow.
- 21:54Speaker 2: He's terrible in that sense.
- 21:57Speaker 1: So if you're saying Tua is the placeholder until you
- 22:00Speaker 1: can figure out this penix health issue, it's fine. And
- 22:03Speaker 1: I do actually think there there is perhaps some merit
- 22:07Speaker 1: to if the offense is used to a left handed quarterback,
- 22:12Speaker 1: keeping a left handed quarterback in there, I guess makes sense.
- 22:15Speaker 1: It's like it's like having Tyler Huntley behind Lamar Jackson stylistically,
- 22:20Speaker 1: let's keep the flow the same. I know that there's
- 22:24Speaker 1: gonna be a downgrade in this scenario, we're not even
- 22:27Speaker 1: sure that it is a downgrade going from Penix.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm.
- 22:30Speaker 5: Not really sure which one's the downgrade if you're gonna
- 22:32Speaker 5: pick one of them, because this is a These are
- 22:34Speaker 5: opinion guys, like you either really like them or you
- 22:36Speaker 5: really don't. These are both really I mean, we've seen
- 22:39Speaker 5: a lot more of Tua than we have of Penix
- 22:42Speaker 5: in terms of just his ability at this level. So
- 22:44Speaker 5: I think Tua's resume is kind of out there, Like
- 22:47Speaker 5: I don't know if we're gonna see I mean, there's
- 22:49Speaker 5: been really really, really good right and then there's been
- 22:53Speaker 5: a lot of the bad. And I think in Atlanta,
- 22:55Speaker 5: in that atmosphere with London with Pitts, like I don't
- 22:59Speaker 5: mind it, Like I I think there's a shot to
- 23:01Speaker 5: be good, especially with the contract. It's a no brainer.
- 23:04Speaker 5: I think that.
- 23:06Speaker 1: On Miami big time because they're the ones that are
- 23:10Speaker 1: still paying them a boatload. But I think we're kind
- 23:12Speaker 1: of burying Kendrick's point here, which was a good one,
- 23:15Speaker 1: that he's gonna be playing in a dome now, and
- 23:17Speaker 1: one of the biggest concerns for Tua is that he
- 23:20Speaker 1: cannot withstand weather.
- 23:22Speaker 2: The fact that he is.
- 23:23Speaker 1: Not only in a dome, but the majority of his
- 23:26Speaker 1: opponents are playing in the South. Now that he is
- 23:29Speaker 1: in the Hes, in the a f C East, and
- 23:31Speaker 1: they and the yes, Miami is in Miami, and obviously,
- 23:34Speaker 1: but no one else they play is in warm weather
- 23:38Speaker 1: twice a year. Everybody else you gotta go play in
- 23:41Speaker 1: cold weather a couple of times a season, and that
- 23:45Speaker 1: never bode would bode.
- 23:46Speaker 2: Well for him. Hey, listen, you actually kind of selling
- 23:50Speaker 2: me on this. All right, let's go.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Question number three is the w t F move of
- 23:54Speaker 1: free agency. Now, this doesn't mean that you hate it
- 23:59Speaker 1: or that you love it. You just sort of trying
- 24:03Speaker 1: to figure it out. And I'll give you an example
- 24:05Speaker 1: of what I'm talking about here, Kenneth Walker to the
- 24:08Speaker 1: Chiefs is my answer. I don't think it's a bad
- 24:12Speaker 1: move for the Chiefs. Clearly they needed this, and you
- 24:15Speaker 1: guys love it, and you love it for the right reason.
- 24:17Speaker 1: So the Chiefs have been trying to play this. Hey,
- 24:20Speaker 1: let's just get dirt cheap at running back game for
- 24:23Speaker 1: too many years now and it worked out to a degree.
- 24:26Speaker 1: That's not like they don't have Super Bowls, but they
- 24:29Speaker 1: just put so much on mahomes plate and it's just
- 24:32Speaker 1: so easy to find these running backs out there that
- 24:35Speaker 1: can help buoy your offense. But it just goes in
- 24:38Speaker 1: the complete opposite direction of everything that they've done.
- 24:42Speaker 2: You're signing a guy who.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Has struggled to stay healthy, he struggled with consistency issues,
- 24:46Speaker 1: and you're buying him at his absolute apex. This is
- 24:50Speaker 1: not what shrewd organizations do. And it might work out.
- 24:56Speaker 1: They definitely need what he brings to the table. It
- 24:59Speaker 1: just doesn't feel like what smart organizations do. It has
- 25:03Speaker 1: a little scent of desperation, and that makes me worry
- 25:08Speaker 1: about Kansas City. But that's why it's the what the
- 25:10Speaker 1: fuck move for me, because I don't hate it. I
- 25:13Speaker 1: just I'm a little bit confused that it was Kansas
- 25:15Speaker 1: City that did this.
- 25:17Speaker 4: Kendra, I'm gonna go with the news coming out to
- 25:21Speaker 4: the Patriots tried to re sign Kiris Tanga in December
- 25:25Speaker 4: and didn't get it done, and now he's gone. The
- 25:27Speaker 4: Patriots have so much money to spend, They have a
- 25:29Speaker 4: lot of improvements they need to make and letting a
- 25:31Speaker 4: guy like that that had an awesome season for you go,
- 25:34Speaker 4: I think is just my WTF for you guys doing
- 25:38Speaker 4: moment like you spent free agency. All you've done is
- 25:40Speaker 4: like sign a full back and you're gonna let that
- 25:42Speaker 4: guy walk and it was pretty much on the table.
- 25:43Speaker 3: That's for me, I think the what is going on
- 25:46Speaker 3: here moment?
- 25:47Speaker 2: Yeah, that a great move for the Chiefs.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Get a guy that you can get creative with too,
- 25:52Speaker 1: and throw him at full back and all that good stuff. Evan,
- 25:55Speaker 1: what about you? The WTF move of free agency?
- 25:59Speaker 5: I just can't believe you used yours on Walker? Like
- 26:02Speaker 5: that's that to me? Is that, to me is the
- 26:04Speaker 5: opposite of a w AT T W t F move
- 26:08Speaker 5: because like they need a running back.
- 26:13Speaker 2: Guys, how many years?
- 26:14Speaker 1: How many years do we need to go through NFL
- 26:16Speaker 1: free agency where you get the team that get that
- 26:20Speaker 1: wins on the big bold headline, that that buys high
- 26:25Speaker 1: on talent at their absolute peak and it doesn't work out.
- 26:31Speaker 1: It happens every single year, and usually it's the teams
- 26:34Speaker 1: like perennially it's the Steelers and the Packers and the
- 26:39Speaker 1: Patriots and the Chiefs that don't fall for this crap.
- 26:42Speaker 5: And it's also desperate, though it's desperate because they need
- 26:46Speaker 5: to be desperate, Like they just had the worst season Mahomes' career.
- 26:50Speaker 1: But couldn't you go a level down from Walker and
- 26:53Speaker 1: trade a second round pick because Taylor.
- 26:57Speaker 3: Swift and the Super Bowl m v P and Doonna
- 27:01Speaker 3: Kelsey's renovating her Hunt.
- 27:02Speaker 5: I also think it feels like something that do one
- 27:05Speaker 5: thing as well. I believe certain things are also happening
- 27:09Speaker 5: in the anticipation that Love is going to go earlier
- 27:13Speaker 5: in the draft, like four or five. So like Casey,
- 27:16Speaker 5: I think would be worried at nine without a move
- 27:18Speaker 5: that they weren't going to be able to get him.
- 27:20Speaker 5: So that that's just I mean, if you look at
- 27:22Speaker 5: some of the running back moves, I feel like that's
- 27:24Speaker 5: some of the stuff you're seeing as Love is kind
- 27:26Speaker 5: of moving up the board.
- 27:27Speaker 1: But this is so frustrating about it is so they
- 27:30Speaker 1: go they go three four years in a row where
- 27:32Speaker 1: they're like, it's okay, we have Isaiah Pacheco, who is
- 27:35Speaker 1: a one trick pony, an old Kareem Hunt who's been
- 27:38Speaker 1: washed up for the last six years. But all of
- 27:41Speaker 1: a sudden, now, because we can't get a running back
- 27:44Speaker 1: in the top ten of the draft, we're gonna go
- 27:47Speaker 1: buy the most expensive one in free agency, coming off
- 27:50Speaker 1: of the best game of his life.
- 27:51Speaker 2: That just direct like this desperate. This is a sports
- 27:54Speaker 2: betting podcast. Yes, this was a not.
- 27:57Speaker 5: What not WTF desperation.
- 28:00Speaker 2: Yes, this is like buying the team.
- 28:04Speaker 4: Would they go out there and sign a Super Bowl MVY?
- 28:08Speaker 2: Yeah, all right.
- 28:10Speaker 5: To answer your question, Kravits, mine is dabel and the Titans.
- 28:14Speaker 5: Like there's a viral tweet going around. The viral tweet
- 28:17Speaker 5: going around, that's just basically like Brian Dabele, like, you know,
- 28:21Speaker 5: I got fired and I might as well take the
- 28:22Speaker 5: players back that I got fired for. And that's basically
- 28:26Speaker 5: what it's just. I understand Tennessee was going to spend
- 28:29Speaker 5: money and like John Franklin Myers I kind of liked,
- 28:31Speaker 5: but Wandell Bellinger like he really is just kind of
- 28:35Speaker 5: Mitch as a backup, Like I don't know, I kind
- 28:39Speaker 5: of saw some angles and the division, you know, isn't
- 28:43Speaker 5: the best division. Like you know, people are making mistakes,
- 28:45Speaker 5: Jackson will losing some pieces, like they could have gotten better.
- 28:48Speaker 5: I just these movies are kind of laughable.
- 28:51Speaker 1: But I think every week you get some sort of
- 28:55Speaker 1: viral Ryan Clark video from first take where you're saying
- 28:59Speaker 1: something ridiculous, and usually there's some race baiting element involved
- 29:03Speaker 1: in it. But who's trying to sell the audience on
- 29:06Speaker 1: Mitch Trubisky being a really sneaky ad? I just I
- 29:11Speaker 1: don't know why that had to be a topic, but
- 29:13Speaker 1: it was the fourth question whose odds should shift the
- 29:18Speaker 1: most based on a move that was made? So this
- 29:22Speaker 1: is specifically looking at how we expect the betting market
- 29:26Speaker 1: for win totals to react to the moves that have
- 29:30Speaker 1: been made. I think not my official nomination, but one
- 29:33Speaker 1: to think about would be the Raiders. The Raiders made
- 29:37Speaker 1: they've been the busiest team.
- 29:39Speaker 4: In free lenderbound trade should have been one of my favorites.
- 29:42Speaker 4: I forgot to include that one, but I.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Love that they overhauled their linebacking room to Kobe Dean
- 29:47Speaker 1: kuway Walker, they had Tarn Johnson, they get Jalen Naylor
- 29:50Speaker 1: on offense, and of course they have the number one pick.
- 29:53Speaker 1: If Mendoza is halfway decent, this team is going to
- 29:57Speaker 1: be not great and they're dealing with a loaded Division two.
- 30:00Speaker 1: But if we're just talking about win totals, this team
- 30:03Speaker 1: could be a lot better than a team that is
- 30:06Speaker 1: picking number one overall in the draft. So that's a
- 30:09Speaker 1: not my answer, but that's an option. Evan, What do
- 30:11Speaker 1: you think the team that will shift the most based
- 30:14Speaker 1: on the moves?
- 30:17Speaker 5: I don't really think too much other than like Crosby
- 30:22Speaker 5: has really happened so far that would impact it to
- 30:26Speaker 5: that degree. Like just going up and down, you know,
- 30:30Speaker 5: usually one player. It's usually a group of players or
- 30:33Speaker 5: a unit or something like that that could potentially try
- 30:37Speaker 5: to move a win total. It doesn't really like I'm
- 30:39Speaker 5: looking at some odds at a sportsbook in terms of
- 30:42Speaker 5: movement from March first to like today and some team.
- 30:48Speaker 5: Most teams have had numbers added to their value, like
- 30:52Speaker 5: the Titans one from one hundred to one hundred and
- 30:54Speaker 5: twenty five. So did the Panthers. Not much has changed
- 30:58Speaker 5: even based off what we happened. But the Ravens were
- 31:01Speaker 5: twelve to one now ten to one. So I think
- 31:03Speaker 5: the splash of Crosby had some movement in the market.
- 31:07Speaker 5: I don't think it's correct movement. I don't think Crosby's
- 31:11Speaker 5: worth that much in general, but I think the name
- 31:16Speaker 5: of the move is something that's intriguing. You also saw
- 31:19Speaker 5: the Rams like getting McDuffie. I don't think any and
- 31:23Speaker 5: necessarily anything other than that, but they moved, you know,
- 31:26Speaker 5: at that height from nine to eight to one, which
- 31:28Speaker 5: at the you know, when you're at the top of
- 31:30Speaker 5: the market, that movement usually doesn't happen too much. So
- 31:32Speaker 5: that would probably be my answer. It's nothing crazy yet
- 31:35Speaker 5: my opinion.
- 31:35Speaker 2: Kendron, what about you, I'm going to go with the Saints.
- 31:39Speaker 3: It has to be the Saints for me.
- 31:41Speaker 4: You could point out one of the individual moves that
- 31:43Speaker 4: they have made, but it's a weak division.
- 31:46Speaker 3: I think that they kind of peeked towards the end
- 31:47Speaker 3: of it.
- 31:48Speaker 4: The coaching there has obviously been beneficial, Tyler Schuck coming
- 31:52Speaker 4: out and making a bit of some noise at the
- 31:54Speaker 4: end of their season. And they've added to not just
- 31:57Speaker 4: like I said, I love the Travis etn deal for them,
- 31:59Speaker 4: but they've added everywhere. They've added on defense, they've added
- 32:02Speaker 4: on offense, they've on it, added it special teams. I
- 32:05Speaker 4: just think that with such a weak division and the
- 32:07Speaker 4: Panthers having a little bit of movement and questions on
- 32:12Speaker 4: if they can keep the momentum that they had last season.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Obviously the Bucks getting worse, I think the Falcons are
- 32:18Speaker 4: going to be shit. I probably will be putting a
- 32:21Speaker 4: rather hefty wager on the Saints winning this division this
- 32:25Speaker 4: coming season. I think that they're going to be the
- 32:26Speaker 4: new NFC East and we're going to have a different
- 32:29Speaker 4: divisional winner every single season for the next ten years.
- 32:33Speaker 1: So for you, it's it's less about the moves and
- 32:35Speaker 1: more the fact that they made moves to get better,
- 32:37Speaker 1: showing that they are ready to at least compete.
- 32:40Speaker 2: It's kind of an attitude thing.
- 32:42Speaker 3: Yeah, well, I think that they're competing.
- 32:44Speaker 4: I think that they've got a quarterback, they added to
- 32:46Speaker 4: the run game, they're adding on the offensive line, they're
- 32:48Speaker 4: adding on defense, and it's just that their division is
- 32:51Speaker 4: the worst division in football, and the moves that they
- 32:54Speaker 4: made can put that.
- 32:56Speaker 3: Dude, there was a point where we were like, if the.
- 32:58Speaker 4: Saints didn't struggle the first three or four weeks of
- 33:01Speaker 4: this season as shitty of a team as they had
- 33:04Speaker 4: this year, they could have won that division had you know,
- 33:06Speaker 4: one or two things gone differently with how that planned out.
- 33:09Speaker 4: And now obviously the Bucks are having a ton of regression.
- 33:12Speaker 4: I am curious about the Bryce Young scenario and how
- 33:15Speaker 4: that can continue to trend in an upward direction. I
- 33:19Speaker 4: think that the Saints could really make some noise.
- 33:21Speaker 3: In this division this coming season.
- 33:24Speaker 1: So the my nomination you guys are gonna laugh is
- 33:30Speaker 1: the Miami Dolphins.
- 33:32Speaker 5: Yeah, obviously.
- 33:35Speaker 2: A quarterback.
- 33:36Speaker 1: Is you mentioned the you make moves to a unit,
- 33:42Speaker 1: it's a plethora of moves that will change the market. Also,
- 33:47Speaker 1: a quarterback. Adding Willis is a market mover their win
- 33:52Speaker 1: total before.
- 33:53Speaker 3: This move was Willis market mover mor.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Leaque will As not by much, but like Evan said,
- 33:59Speaker 1: you're not to get major movement in the win total market.
- 34:02Speaker 1: If the Dolphins go from four and a half over
- 34:05Speaker 1: under to five and a half, that might be the
- 34:08Speaker 1: most significant move that we see based on free agency.
- 34:11Speaker 1: And nobody moves the market more than a quarterback. And
- 34:14Speaker 1: this isn't even so much an endorsement of Malik Willis.
- 34:17Speaker 1: I'm excited about him being the quarterback just as a
- 34:21Speaker 1: fan because he's a fun watch, but he's it. They
- 34:25Speaker 1: were gonna trot out Quinn Ewers. Part of the price
- 34:28Speaker 1: on the Dolphins was Quinn Ewer's seventh round pick being
- 34:31Speaker 1: the quarterback of the team.
- 34:33Speaker 2: And the idea that they were going in the tank.
- 34:36Speaker 1: I think the Dolphins are at least saying we're not
- 34:39Speaker 1: totally tanking. Maybe mildly, but we're not totally tanking.
- 34:44Speaker 5: Wouldn't you prefer them to be totally tanking though?
- 34:47Speaker 1: So No, I'm looking ahead at next year's draft class,
- 34:52Speaker 1: and I think it is amazing how quickly we as
- 34:55Speaker 1: sports fans and sports media will just whap our head
- 34:59Speaker 1: on the se out of a wall and forget what
- 35:01Speaker 1: we just saw. Next year's draft class is what Dante Moore?
- 35:07Speaker 1: Anybody remember the last time he played football? He was atrocious?
- 35:11Speaker 1: How about Arch Manning, who we've all thought teams were.
- 35:15Speaker 1: We thought the Saints were gonna tank for this guy
- 35:17Speaker 1: because he was gonna be so unbelievably good. He was terrible.
- 35:22Speaker 1: He got better as the season went along, saying so
- 35:26Speaker 1: Julian saying, I don't even know if this guy is good.
- 35:28Speaker 1: He's been tossing the rock to Jeremiah Smith. I just
- 35:32Speaker 1: I think the Soresby's gonna be up there. I think
- 35:34Speaker 1: the draft class for next year has a chance to
- 35:37Speaker 1: be as overrated as we overrated the one that we
- 35:41Speaker 1: thought we were gonna get this year, and this year's
- 35:43Speaker 1: quarterback class sucks. So I think we are perhaps on
- 35:49Speaker 1: the cusp of doing the exact same thing again, rinse, recycle,
- 35:52Speaker 1: repeat overhype arch Manning, and then everybody's disappointed at the
- 35:55Speaker 1: end of the year, going, oh, I thought this was
- 35:57Speaker 1: going to be a good quarterback class.
- 36:00Speaker 2: That's my thoughts.
- 36:01Speaker 4: You could have Quinniers and arch Manning back together, kissing
- 36:05Speaker 4: my god.
- 36:06Speaker 2: Okay, Kendrick, did we go to you on this? Yes,
- 36:11Speaker 2: you have the Saints. You had the Saints and moving on.
- 36:16Speaker 3: Him so hard you forgot.
- 36:17Speaker 1: You know, it's a lot to keep track of. Okay,
- 36:20Speaker 1: you gotta keep track of your own. Takes everybody else's.
- 36:23Speaker 1: But nobody cry at river for the for the host
- 36:26Speaker 1: who has been oddly inactive. So I think about question
- 36:29Speaker 1: number five is kind of like that meme with the
- 36:31Speaker 1: stick figures or the guy with the.
- 36:34Speaker 2: Something.
- 36:36Speaker 1: How is it not the Cincinnati Bengals. You do realize, Cincinnati,
- 36:40Speaker 1: you have Joseph Burrow, right, this guy is so cool
- 36:44Speaker 1: he could bag Jessica Alba.
- 36:46Speaker 2: Let's go and get him.
- 36:48Speaker 5: False Okay news, come on now, not by Burrow, though.
- 36:54Speaker 3: You got to get your TMZ notifications on.
- 36:56Speaker 1: But all right, I'm sorry, Okay, let me only update
- 36:58Speaker 1: that as I finished this obvious take, they got to
- 37:01Speaker 1: do something.
- 37:02Speaker 2: When the defense is.
- 37:03Speaker 1: Bad, the whole line is bad, they've obvious needs, they
- 37:05Speaker 1: don't address anything.
- 37:06Speaker 2: It was the same thing.
- 37:07Speaker 1: Go back last year and look at the big moves
- 37:09Speaker 1: that Cincinnati made. Their biggest move was trying to ghost
- 37:13Speaker 1: Trey Hendrickson. I mean, it's just it's embarrassing what this
- 37:16Speaker 1: team does and how they operate.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Evan, what about you?
- 37:20Speaker 5: I think the Bengals are a really good one. I
- 37:22Speaker 5: kind of hadn't thought about that in that direction. But
- 37:25Speaker 5: also I was looking for something that was already changed, right,
- 37:28Speaker 5: like the Bengals continuing to do something that they've always
- 37:31Speaker 5: done and not being any different, which is not helping Burrow.
- 37:34Speaker 5: Like it seems to be very consistent for them. I guess,
- 37:37Speaker 5: other than the fact that their two highest paid players
- 37:39Speaker 5: are wide receivers, they can't be doing much more for Burrow.
- 37:43Speaker 5: So you know, it depends how you look at it there,
- 37:46Speaker 5: I would guess. I would say I was kind of
- 37:48Speaker 5: surprised by the Seahawks, Like I guess you have to
- 37:50Speaker 5: have faith in Schneider, but with the deal they made
- 37:54Speaker 5: with Shahit, you better be getting him the ball, like
- 37:57Speaker 5: when you're gonna pay him this money and kind of
- 37:59Speaker 5: lose some of these other pieces and not be real spenders.
- 38:02Speaker 5: I guess in free agency, I think they just need
- 38:06Speaker 5: to figure out how he's not a guy that's getting
- 38:09Speaker 5: like seven routes and you're just trying to make him
- 38:12Speaker 5: a huge kick return, pump return, whatever guy. I just
- 38:16Speaker 5: think there's more value there, especially if you're gonna pay
- 38:18Speaker 5: him long term. So I think Seattle's kind of interesting.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Broncos have been brought up a bunch. They haven't done
- 38:24Speaker 5: too much, and they've let some stuff out the door,
- 38:27Speaker 5: especially being I don't know, a half a quarterback away
- 38:31Speaker 5: from going to the Super Bowl. I think some people
- 38:33Speaker 5: would have thought they would have done some more.
- 38:35Speaker 2: Kendrol, what about you.
- 38:37Speaker 4: The Bengals were my one, but my number two, and
- 38:39Speaker 4: I'm surprised in the listing of teams that you two
- 38:42Speaker 4: gave out that neither in this is a.
- 38:44Speaker 3: Home or take, I guess a homer take. But the Patriots.
- 38:47Speaker 4: The Patriots have so much money to spend and Drake
- 38:53Speaker 4: May should be a destination now to play with. And
- 38:57Speaker 4: I get the taxes are high here, the weather sucks
- 38:59Speaker 4: sometimes times whatever, but you have so much money to
- 39:02Speaker 4: spend and you've signed a full back and let Tongo walk.
- 39:05Speaker 3: What the hell are you guys doing.
- 39:06Speaker 4: I don't understand what the Patriots are doing whatsoever, other
- 39:10Speaker 4: than cheaping out on the field and cheaping out and
- 39:13Speaker 4: paying for security for the World Cup. Double whammy for
- 39:16Speaker 4: Robert Kraft Ligma.
- 39:18Speaker 5: I like it. I like Vera Tucker. That's probably the
- 39:20Speaker 5: only thing they've done that I liked. I mean a
- 39:22Speaker 5: little bit, a lot of you know, some probably more
- 39:24Speaker 5: money than you needed to, but some more protection is
- 39:27Speaker 5: going to help, especially when that was May's issue.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Who is it?
- 39:32Speaker 4: Yeah, you can have all the time in the world,
- 39:33Speaker 4: but who the hell is catching the freakin' football?
- 39:36Speaker 1: What about the big t trade market? I think New
- 39:38Speaker 1: England is going to make a big time deal. Let's
- 39:40Speaker 1: not forget this is we are reacting to Wave one.
- 39:43Speaker 1: There's crappy Wave two and there's still trades in a
- 39:46Speaker 1: draft to get to as well.
- 39:47Speaker 5: But you have they didn't get at least Yeah, I
- 39:50Speaker 5: was what's the guy from the Raiders that just gots on. Oh,
- 39:53Speaker 5: Jalen Naylor. At least they didn't give him sixty million dollars.
- 39:57Speaker 2: That's for us.
- 39:58Speaker 4: But you guys, Robert Kraft shown us who he is
- 40:01Speaker 4: for the last twenty five years.
- 40:04Speaker 3: And when someone shows you who they are, listen.
- 40:07Speaker 4: This is a guy who expected Tom Brady to take
- 40:09Speaker 4: a pay cut to keep people together, to keep that
- 40:12Speaker 4: Super Bowl roster what it was.
- 40:14Speaker 3: And nobody's gonna take a pay cut to play here anymore.
- 40:17Speaker 3: You have to pay people.
- 40:18Speaker 4: You are the team with the most money available to
- 40:21Speaker 4: you last season and you still did nothing with it.
- 40:24Speaker 3: If you're showing me you're cheap, and you think that.
- 40:26Speaker 4: People should just take a pay cut consistently to play
- 40:29Speaker 4: somewhere that was a super Bowl destination ten years ago.
- 40:32Speaker 3: Give me a break. You can't keep cheaping.
- 40:34Speaker 4: Out and going to a super Bowl on a weird
- 40:36Speaker 4: off year because you didn't have to play anybody and
- 40:39Speaker 4: then just be like, oh, well you should be happy
- 40:41Speaker 4: with that. We're not gonna do anything. We're gonna keep
- 40:43Speaker 4: cheaping out and sucking, which fine by me. I'm a Patriotator.
- 40:47Speaker 4: It makes the AFC easier for my boys to get through.
- 40:50Speaker 4: But like if you're gonna sit here and you're gonna
- 40:52Speaker 4: cause your quarterback to be injured because you don't want
- 40:55Speaker 4: to pay offensive line for him and you want to
- 40:56Speaker 4: Joe burrow him to death and you don't want to
- 40:58Speaker 4: give him a receiver.
- 40:59Speaker 3: Fine, whatever, do it. But if you're gonna show me
- 41:01Speaker 3: who you are, I'm gonna listen.
- 41:03Speaker 2: You hear that. You see that, Evan, that's Mike Trupp,
- 41:07Speaker 2: Kendri Middleton.
- 41:08Speaker 5: They could just be waiting for AJ Brown to or bt.
- 41:10Speaker 2: Do't if they stole Brian Thomas Junior.
- 41:13Speaker 4: For That's been the big conversation here the last couple
- 41:16Speaker 4: of days. And honestly, I would let BTJ go for
- 41:21Speaker 4: the right price personally because I just I think that
- 41:26Speaker 4: that concussion he got in pre season has broken him
- 41:29Speaker 4: and maybe he does need a change of scenery to
- 41:31Speaker 4: be different. Maybe it was a coaching issue. I think
- 41:34Speaker 4: that it was just the concussion and some personal things
- 41:36Speaker 4: that he had going on. But for the right price,
- 41:38Speaker 4: I'd let him go. But I just as close as
- 41:42Speaker 4: AJ Brown and Rabel are the issues that Stefan Diggs
- 41:47Speaker 4: kind of I don't. He was allegedly a great locker
- 41:50Speaker 4: room guy, and everybody loved him and he was a leader,
- 41:52Speaker 4: and that's been the conversation surrounding him. But a lot
- 41:55Speaker 4: of the off field drama, I'm just not sure is
- 41:58Speaker 4: something that the Patriot.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Can They're just so young. Why would you screw up
- 42:04Speaker 3: that chemistry?
- 42:05Speaker 4: And I get that he respects Rabel in a way
- 42:07Speaker 4: that he would probably cool it. But at the same time,
- 42:10Speaker 4: if you're going to spend money on somebody, is it
- 42:12Speaker 4: going to be.
- 42:12Speaker 3: A gamble of that type of player? Once again, I
- 42:16Speaker 3: just and you're cheap. You're cheap. You don't even want
- 42:19Speaker 3: to pay the eight million dollars.
- 42:21Speaker 4: Okay, for example, the thing that we're talking about, the
- 42:24Speaker 4: World Cup obviously here in Boston, is supposed to bring
- 42:27Speaker 4: a billion dollars of revenue to the city, and they
- 42:30Speaker 4: don't want to pay the eight million dollars in security
- 42:32Speaker 4: fees for the World Cup to be held at Gillette.
- 42:34Speaker 3: They want the town to do it. You're cheap. I'm
- 42:36Speaker 3: going to keep believing you're cheap.
- 42:38Speaker 2: Wow, that is that at his next level cheap.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Also a reminder for everyone out there to not completely
- 42:45Speaker 1: overreact to free agency. I was reading an article from
- 42:48Speaker 1: Sorry to Chop You down here, Bill Barnwell does a
- 42:50Speaker 1: great job at ESPN. I was reading his article, I
- 42:52Speaker 1: went back and looked at his twenty twenty five winners
- 42:56Speaker 1: and losers from NFL free agency because this always makes
- 42:58Speaker 1: me chuckle. One of the big losers from Barnwell, who
- 43:02Speaker 1: knows this stuff was the Seattle Seahawks for signing Sam Darnolds.
- 43:07Speaker 1: They won a Super Bowl and the Patriots were big
- 43:11Speaker 1: losers after failing to sign Chris Godwin. And that was
- 43:15Speaker 1: the team that the Seahawks played in the Super Bowl.
- 43:17Speaker 1: So sometimes we swing and miss on our free agency takes.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Coming up in a moment, we plant the flag more
- 43:25Speaker 1: on the Favorites right around the corner.
- 43:26Speaker 2: But first a word from our very own Kendri Middleton.
- 43:29Speaker 4: The Favorites podcast is sponsored by DraftKings sports book, and
- 43:32Speaker 4: you should know DraftKings is the sports book for betting

- 43:57Speaker 4: your pick. Sign up using promo code Favorite to get
- 44:00Speaker 4: in on the action.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Now time to plant the flag presented by DraftKings. Let's
- 44:05Speaker 1: wrap up the show with the one move that you
- 44:07Speaker 1: want to see a team make. We are going to
- 44:11Speaker 1: plant our flag claire voyantly as we look into the future.
- 44:16Speaker 5: Mind the flag in a shut up. I'm trying to
- 44:18Speaker 5: plant my flag here.
- 44:20Speaker 2: Okay, you're really planted your flag in that deck, Hendra,
- 44:24Speaker 2: where would you like to take us?
- 44:26Speaker 4: I'd like to see the Jags sign another running back
- 44:29Speaker 4: after letting etn go, and another linebacker.
- 44:31Speaker 3: But I don't love anybody left, So I'm going.
- 44:33Speaker 4: To plant my flag on needing Trey Hendrickson to.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Stay out of the AFC South.
- 44:40Speaker 4: I'm going that is that is the one thing I'd
- 44:42Speaker 4: like to see happen, is him.
- 44:44Speaker 3: Not be there.
- 44:45Speaker 1: I put a nice, hefty wager, one of the biggest
- 44:49Speaker 1: I've ever placed, on Trey Hendrickson to not be a
- 44:53Speaker 1: Green Bay packer. I cannot believe that that market is
- 44:58Speaker 1: available out there, because they make one big move every
- 45:02Speaker 1: twenty years, and they just traded for Micah Parsons, So
- 45:06Speaker 1: I don't see that. To me, should be at about
- 45:09Speaker 1: one hundred percent chance of not happening, and if you
- 45:13Speaker 1: search long and hard enough, you will find that that
- 45:15Speaker 1: is not the case. So I think Trey Hendrickson will
- 45:18Speaker 1: probably end up. Who knows, the Chargers Cowboys could be
- 45:22Speaker 1: one of those.
- 45:22Speaker 4: Places that's so kind of quiet. I will say, who
- 45:26Speaker 4: is the Chargers. They have a ton of money.
- 45:28Speaker 1: They have been very quiet. The Chargers have been oddly
- 45:32Speaker 1: and maybe this is why. Maybe they're about to swoop in,
- 45:34Speaker 1: So maybe that's not a bad idea either. If you
- 45:37Speaker 1: can find a Charger's market for me, it's Kyler Murray
- 45:41Speaker 1: to the Steelers.
- 45:43Speaker 2: Just be done with this Rogers nonsense.
- 45:45Speaker 1: It's been far too long since the Steelers have had
- 45:49Speaker 1: a team that's fun to watch, and Kyler might not
- 45:52Speaker 1: be the world's best quarterback, but he's at least a spark.
- 45:56Speaker 1: He's something fresh. They haven't had a guy that can
- 45:59Speaker 1: just run around in the pocket since Cordell Stewart. Just
- 46:03Speaker 1: go they've had they have been one of the most
- 46:06Speaker 1: boring watches. And why would I care about this. Well,
- 46:09Speaker 1: they're always in primetime because they're the Steelers and they
- 46:12Speaker 1: have one of the biggest fan bases in the country.
- 46:14Speaker 2: I'm tired of watching boring Steeler games.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Give me entertaining, tiny Kyler Murray running around in the pocket,
- 46:21Speaker 1: and be done with this Rogers nonsense.
- 46:23Speaker 2: Evan, where would you like to plant your flag?
- 46:26Speaker 5: I want Kyler Murray Minnesota. I just think it's a
- 46:30Speaker 5: better fit inside the Dome. I just like I think
- 46:34Speaker 5: Rogers ends up going back to Pittsburgh after adding Pittman, Like,
- 46:37Speaker 5: I think that's still the ideal situation for him. It
- 46:41Speaker 5: would be very funny for Rogers. Yeah, it would be
- 46:45Speaker 5: very funny for him to go to Minnesota and follow
- 46:47Speaker 5: a farv, But I think Kyler Murray in Minnesota would
- 46:52Speaker 5: be a much better fit overall. I mean, I think
- 46:55Speaker 5: Justin Jefferson will be just as frustrated, which would be
- 46:57Speaker 5: very funny. But I do you think it would be
- 47:02Speaker 5: the right move? And I think from Trey Hendrickson, I
- 47:04Speaker 5: feel like, now this is the move I don't want.
- 47:07Speaker 5: But I think if I'm trying to like accurately predict it,
- 47:10Speaker 5: like Tampa Bay losing out and getting Evans back and
- 47:13Speaker 5: then flipping over and having some money to be able
- 47:15Speaker 5: to get Hendrickson. I think is mildly intriguing, and it
- 47:19Speaker 5: would happen and you would be like, Okay, I get it,
- 47:22Speaker 5: but they're not going to be able to do X
- 47:24Speaker 5: and maybe it's still not enough, but Tampa Bay there
- 47:28Speaker 5: is interesting.
- 47:29Speaker 3: Okay.
- 47:30Speaker 4: Question do you think Justin Jefferson would get more pissed
- 47:33Speaker 4: off with Kyler Murray being Kyler Murray or watching nine
- 47:37Speaker 4: continue develop?
- 47:38Speaker 3: What do you think would piss him off more?
- 47:41Speaker 5: I think nine nine?
- 47:43Speaker 2: You have no part of JJ McCarthy. Those guys, my god, it.
- 47:48Speaker 5: Was like at least I think at least he would
- 47:50Speaker 5: like a new frustration, right, like, like, at least change
- 47:53Speaker 5: up what his frustration is going to be into who
- 47:55Speaker 5: he's frustrated at, you.
- 47:56Speaker 3: Know, shoving him into a locker fair.
- 48:00Speaker 2: You know when you meet someone.
- 48:03Speaker 1: And you you you just lack such natural chemistry. You
- 48:06Speaker 1: go in for the handshake, they go in for the
- 48:07Speaker 1: fist bump, and it's super weird. And then every time
- 48:10Speaker 1: you see them are You're like, are we handshake buddies?
- 48:13Speaker 2: Are we fist bump? And you do it like seven
- 48:15Speaker 2: more times.
- 48:17Speaker 1: That's watching JJ McCarthy and Justin Jefferson play quarterback and
- 48:21Speaker 1: wide receiver together. It's just so clunky and awkward. So
- 48:27Speaker 1: I'm sure that he wants no part of that.
- 48:31Speaker 3: I can't wait for the JJ McCarthy.
- 48:33Speaker 4: Could he be the next Sam Darnold Baker Mayfield conversations
- 48:36Speaker 4: in three years?
- 48:37Speaker 3: I cannot wait.
- 48:39Speaker 2: Yeah, and how about Daniel Jones?
- 48:40Speaker 1: How the cults saying we don't care, we don't care
- 48:43Speaker 1: that you rubs your dear Achilles Jason table, you.
- 48:46Speaker 2: Come on, come on over.
- 48:49Speaker 5: In that division?
- 48:50Speaker 2: They could they could.
- 48:51Speaker 1: I mean last year was such a charmed year for
- 48:53Speaker 1: them that at least at the start of it, then
- 48:55Speaker 1: it all fell apart for like ten days.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Those here's Anthony gonna go.
- 49:04Speaker 2: Think the NFL is UFL is hiring.
- 49:10Speaker 4: Hey, he could be a mass pirate now down by
- 49:12Speaker 4: you like in or Layda.
- 49:14Speaker 5: He's an intriguing backup. He's an intriguing backup.

- 49:32Speaker 4: Now, Mmm, this is interesting you guys. Okay, last thing
- 49:37Speaker 4: for me. Do you think that the NFL has a
- 49:41Speaker 4: quarterback problem in the sense that there's not as much
- 49:44Speaker 4: talented as there used to be? Or do you think
- 49:45Speaker 4: it's a quarterback development problem? Do you think that these
- 49:48Speaker 4: teams are giving up on these guys too quick?
- 49:50Speaker 5: Quarterback development and patience? I think patience is a massive
- 49:54Speaker 5: and it's patients from everyone, the Internet, owners, fans like
- 49:58Speaker 5: everyone wants to win this secon. So I think it's development,
- 50:02Speaker 5: but I think it's also just patience.
- 50:04Speaker 2: Great big time.
- 50:05Speaker 1: I mean your Jacksonville Jaguars are a good example of
- 50:08Speaker 1: what we don't see much anymore.
- 50:09Speaker 2: Okay, let's just wait.
- 50:11Speaker 1: We believe in this guy, We'll continue to try and
- 50:12Speaker 1: find the right coach for him, and then boom, now
- 50:15Speaker 1: he's in an MVP conversation.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Now we're dragging off.
- 50:19Speaker 1: No better way to end the pod than that be
- 50:21Speaker 1: on the lookout for the March Madness primer.
- 50:24Speaker 2: Four thousand words from Evan Abrams, pure brilliance on the way.
