- 0:22end of this week, you clever thing, we are going to dip back
- 0:27into God's proverbs and we're going to read through and hear

- 0:36That's right. Wisdom through the ages,
- 0:38delivered in podcast form to you by the living God.
- 0:42How good is that? And yes, we're going to read
- 0:45through them twice, but we're going to read through them
- 0:47instead of 11223344. We're going to read them through
- 0:51once and then through again. So settle yourselves into your
- 0:55comfy armchair and await these incredible pearls of wisdom as
- 1:00we read together Proverbs 1222 to 28.
- 1:16The Lord detests lying lips, but he delights in those who tell
- 1:21the truth. The wise don't make a show of
- 1:25their knowledge, but fools broadcast their foolishness.
- 1:31Work hard and become a leader. Be lazy and become a slave.
- 1:37Worry weighs a person down. An encouraging word cheers a
- 1:42person up. The godly give good advice to
- 1:47their friends. The wicked lead them astray.
- 1:51Lazy people don't even cook the game they catch, but the
- 1:55diligent make use of everything they find.
- 2:00The way of the godly leads to life.
- 2:03That path does not lead to death.
- 2:08And once again, 22 to 28, the Lord detests lying lips, but he
- 2:14delights in those who tell the truth.
- 2:19The wise don't make a show of their knowledge, but fools
- 2:23broadcast their foolishness. Work hard and become a leader.
- 2:29Be lazy and become a slave. Worry weighs a person down.
- 2:37An encouraging word cheers a person up.
- 2:43The godly give good advice to their friends.
- 2:46The wicked lead them astray. Lazy people don't even cook the
- 2:52game they catch, but the diligent make use of everything
- 2:56they find. The way of the godly leads to
- 3:00life. That path does not lead to
- 3:03death. Our Lord, here you are so long
- 3:16ago speaking through the words of that king about worry, about
- 3:21anxiety, about this way of being in our modern world that drags
- 3:27us down. And the antidote that's
- 3:32presented here in your proverbs is an encouraging word to cheer
- 3:37up a person, to lift up our hearts.
- 3:39Again, our Lord warriors, not something new.
- 3:44It's been around as long as humanity has been here.
- 3:48But Lord, you give us the power to raise each other up with an
- 3:54encouraging word. And Lord, not only that, but you
- 3:58fill your word top to bottom with encouragement to us that we
- 4:02are loved, that we are forgiven, that our identity is secure.
- 4:07As a member of your family, we are your children, Jesus, we are
- 4:11your brothers and sisters. So much encouragement you give
- 4:15us as worry threatens to weigh us down.
- 4:19Lord, may Your encouragement cheer our hearts and let us
- 4:25rise, push our shoulders back with a smile on our face,
- 4:29knowing that we certainly can take on whatever it is the world
- 4:33is going to throw at us. As you encourage us with your
- 4:36love and your compassion, we just soak it up.
- 4:43We thank you for it, and we pray all of this in your name, Jesus,
- 4:48Amen.
