- 5:15by as many as 21 points and finishing the game
- 5:18with most starters on the bench. Next, the C's
- 5:22will host Sacramento on Friday. In top news,
- 5:28the U .S. government does not fund Olympic athletes,
- 5:31so one man is paying them $200 ,000 each. Financier
- 5:36Ross Stevens is gifting $100 million to provide
- 5:40American Olympians with retirement security.
- 5:44Starting from the Milan Cortina Olympics next
- 5:46month, each U .S. Olympic and Paralympic athlete
- 5:50will receive this amount, regardless of performance.
- 5:54Stevens believes that financial insecurity should
- 5:56not hinder elite athletes from achieving excellence.
- 6:00Other countries like Russia and China have long
- 6:03provided retirement support for their Olympians.
- 6:07But this donation may encourage athletes to remain

- 8:04back to the show. Let's talk science. The stray
- 8:09dogs in Chernobyl are evolving, with their blood
- 8:12potentially solving a genetic mystery, scientists
- 8:15say. For decades after the nuclear disaster,
- 8:19researchers continue to study how animals adapted
- 8:22to harsh radioactive conditions. In 1986, a reactor
- 8:27exploded at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant,
- 8:31contaminating about 58 ,000 square miles. Cleanup
- 8:35workers were tasked with eliminating thousands
- 8:38of contaminated animals, including pet dogs left
- 8:41behind. Today, scientists are investigating genetic
- 8:45changes in free -breeding dogs, which are genetically
- 8:48distinct from surrounding dog populations. Research
- 8:51indicates that genetic differences may not solely
- 8:55result from radiation exposure. And in entertainment
