- 0:37Speaker 1: great thing. So Neil Svader here in the morning. Crew
- 0:39Speaker 1: Handle is out today with Amy K. King. People go,
- 0:43Speaker 1: what do you call her? Amy K? King? Well, that's
- 0:46Speaker 1: that's her full name. Kay is her middle name, and
- 0:49Speaker 1: that's also her her social media that's her Instagram, Amy
- 0:53Speaker 1: K King.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Maybe she likes it, she likes that middle and middle
- 0:57Speaker 2: initial or middle word.
- 0:58Speaker 1: I don't get. I don't know why I do that.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I don't know. Why does you know Conway call him Steffus.
- 1:06Speaker 1: I mean it's like.
- 1:07Speaker 2: It's an affectionate nickname.
- 1:10Speaker 3: You know.
- 1:11Speaker 1: Why do we call Kona we man? I don't know,
- 1:14Speaker 1: It's just like what we many. Heather just did.
- 1:21Speaker 2: No, I know I would never because ConA will cut
- 1:23Speaker 2: me at the knees.
- 1:25Speaker 1: Yeah, I love, I take it back, I don't mean it. Please.
- 1:32Speaker 1: Oh and then God forbid, something happens to him. He
- 1:35Speaker 1: comes back as a chihuahua. And then then what.
- 1:42Speaker 2: Cono is going to cut?
- 1:44Speaker 1: You? Bring it?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Watch your back on the way to the car.
- 1:47Speaker 1: Bacon that can get Oh that's funny to you because
- 1:50Speaker 1: I'm fat. It's a disability. It's a.
- 1:55Speaker 4: What is it?
- 1:56Speaker 1: It's a fat? What is it? It's a fat? No,
- 2:04Speaker 1: it's a disease. Have a disease.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Someone call me fat earlier and I was like, and.
- 2:12Speaker 1: I'm also redhead, and well, people are rough, are rude,
- 2:15Speaker 1: people are rude. I don't care. It doesn't fade me
- 2:19Speaker 1: in the slightest. I was there. I was there when
- 2:22Speaker 1: I built this temple. I know what I was doing.
- 2:25Speaker 1: I was there for the whole thing. I'll tell you though.
- 2:29Speaker 1: When you're working out six days a week in the
- 2:33Speaker 1: martial arts and then all of a sudden you have
- 2:34Speaker 1: to stop, maybe back off on the snacks afterwards. What
- 2:40Speaker 1: did Petros Papadegus refer to football players after they stop?
- 2:44Speaker 1: You know, they're used to eating twenty thousand calories a
- 2:46Speaker 1: day or whatever he calls it. The what is the spread?
- 2:49Speaker 1: The spread formation? AnyWho? I hate this story in so
- 2:53Speaker 1: many ways, but I want to talk about it. So
- 2:59Speaker 1: you have a woman who loses her her sons, beautiful boys,
- 3:08Speaker 1: Mark and Jacob, in that horrible crosswalk accident that we
- 3:14Speaker 1: heard about. You have this socialite, which I hate that term,
- 3:19Speaker 1: but she strikes me as one socialite. Rebecca Grossman was
- 3:24Speaker 1: sentenced for killing those two brothers in that twenty twenty
- 3:29Speaker 1: crash there in Westlake Village. I know the area very
- 3:32Speaker 1: very well. Grew up near out that, not in Westlake,
- 3:34Speaker 1: but Newbury Park. So Nancy iscandor she was not through dot.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Now I don't know the legality of this, but I
- 3:49Speaker 1: don't know. You can ask, if you're the victim of
- 3:54Speaker 1: something like this, you can ask to not be contacted.
- 3:57Speaker 1: I would imagine right you can say to the court,
- 3:59Speaker 1: I do not want to be contacted by this person,
- 4:02Speaker 1: what have you. I don't know that if that's in
- 4:03Speaker 1: place or not, but I think it was through an
- 4:06Speaker 1: attorney that she had been reached out to. So the
- 4:13Speaker 1: mom of two dead boys killed by this woman is
- 4:19Speaker 1: contacted by Rebecca Grossman, and she says, I want you
- 4:26Speaker 1: to come visit me in prison, to see the circumstances
- 4:30Speaker 1: that I'm in. That she's a victim, posts herself as
- 4:35Speaker 1: a victim, and I'm floored. I'm absolutely floored. God bless
- 4:45Speaker 1: Nancy and her strength as a human being. Says while
- 4:51Speaker 1: I can only imagine how difficult her life is behind
- 4:53Speaker 1: bars and what that must be, the truth is this,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I would trade places with her in a heartbeat. She
- 5:01Speaker 1: said on social media. I would live in any prison cell,
- 5:06Speaker 1: under any conditions, for the rest of my life if
- 5:08Speaker 1: it meant my beautiful boys could be alive again, laughing, dreaming,
- 5:12Speaker 1: growing up and chasing every beautiful future they deserved. Holy crap.
- 5:18Speaker 1: If that doesn't kick you in the solar plexus, there's
- 5:22Speaker 1: something wrong with you.
- 5:23Speaker 2: It's heartbreaking and just frankly disgusting that she would in
- 5:28Speaker 2: any way ask for come see me, see where I'm living,
- 5:33Speaker 2: see the circumstances I'm in. The woman was driving eighty
- 5:37Speaker 2: one miles an hour when she hit these two little
- 5:40Speaker 2: boys who were in the crosswalk. This is one of
- 5:42Speaker 2: those stories that I remember covering it when it happened,
- 5:44Speaker 2: and it has stuck with me. Ever since, and every
- 5:47Speaker 2: time we talk about it's heartbreaking. I cannot imagine that
- 5:50Speaker 2: mother what she went through seeing that happen, losing her children,
- 5:55Speaker 2: and then to have the person who did it convicted?
- 5:59Speaker 2: Who did it? Say? But come and see me, and
- 6:01Speaker 2: how hard my life is. I agree with you. I'm
- 6:06Speaker 2: very passionate, and it makes me angry as well.
- 6:10Speaker 1: You hurt my family, you hurt my beautiful nine year
- 6:14Speaker 1: old boy. I will forgive you, by the grace of God,
- 6:21Speaker 1: but I will not forget. And to be asked such
- 6:28Speaker 1: a thing shows the vulgar display of entitlement that Rebecca
- 6:38Speaker 1: Grossman has and still has she had then from the defense,
- 6:46Speaker 1: and how disgusting her attorneys are to me that they
- 6:49Speaker 1: would even like at what point, listen, I get it.
- 6:53Speaker 1: As an attorney in the United States, you are paid
- 6:57Speaker 1: to defend somebody and they have the right to a defense.
- 7:02Speaker 1: But to go past that after the case is done,
- 7:06Speaker 1: And if this was delivered by an attorney, this letter
- 7:08Speaker 1: of this request, whatever it is, I would say, f and.
- 7:14Speaker 2: You, Well, they're taking that check, they're charge I'm sure
- 7:18Speaker 2: they're charging.
- 7:18Speaker 1: It for it. They're getting paid seven hundred dollars an hour,
- 7:22Speaker 1: probably whatever it is. But at that point you're not
- 7:26Speaker 1: defending somebody. Court's not hearing this. There is not a
- 7:31Speaker 1: you know, constitutional commitment at that point. I just this
- 7:40Speaker 1: whole thing. Mark and Jacob Mark and Jacob Mark and
- 7:45Speaker 1: Jacob never forget their names. They are the victims, Nancy,
- 7:51Speaker 1: their mother is candor that she is the victim. Rebecca
- 7:57Speaker 1: Grossman only lost her status and thank god, through the
- 8:06Speaker 1: justice justice system has seen herself behind bars, and we
- 8:13Speaker 1: all know that she'd prefer to be you know, at
- 8:16Speaker 1: a bar, not behind them. But the fact that she
- 8:20Speaker 1: would even dare to ask this there is the reason
- 8:23Speaker 1: why this stood out to me is that there is
- 8:25Speaker 1: that that entitlement that we can't seem to shake right
- 8:29Speaker 1: now in the United States. Everybody is entitled, everybody selfish.
- 8:34Speaker 1: Everybody is so good, so focused on themselves. We don't
- 8:37Speaker 1: see how we interact and how our actions affect others.
- 8:43Speaker 1: And I say, we I fight this in my own self,
- 8:49Speaker 1: but what a vulgar just play. This is the peak
- 8:52Speaker 1: of it right here. She should get nothing. And I
- 8:55Speaker 1: hope she's eating that that meat block or meat brick
- 9:00Speaker 1: or whatever they serve in prison. Tiny fest we represent thelipop,
- 9:11Speaker 1: tiny homes. Man, if you remember there was a Tiny
- 9:14Speaker 1: House Nation, was that the name of that television show
- 9:17Speaker 1: that kind of showed these people with these tiny homes. Well,
- 9:22Speaker 1: this is coming to southern California. If you're in, you know,
- 9:25Speaker 1: hunting for a house. There is this event called tiny
- 9:29Speaker 1: Fest and it's coming to Orange County. It will be
- 9:33Speaker 1: at the OC Fair and Event Center in Coasta, Mesa.
- 9:36Speaker 1: But the concept of this is, you know, everybody's talking
- 9:42Speaker 1: about the cost of living, about homes, and this story
- 9:48Speaker 1: in the Register hit me because I wondered, you know,
- 9:52Speaker 1: I don't live in a big house. It's just under
- 9:55Speaker 1: fifteen hundred square feet I think, and maybe I don't
- 10:01Speaker 1: know seven thousand square or seven thousand square foot lot,
- 10:06Speaker 1: so you know, decent little backyard and front yard. But
- 10:11Speaker 1: we don't live high in the hall. We're not in
- 10:14Speaker 1: negated community or anything like that, and we're at I
- 10:17Speaker 1: like our little home. Now. Everyone you can always say, hey,
- 10:20Speaker 1: we need more space and all of this. I always
- 10:23Speaker 1: find myself, you know, wanting more space from my stuff.
- 10:27Speaker 1: But don't you kind of sometimes think it's a sexy
- 10:33Speaker 1: option to just go smaller, like have less that you
- 10:39Speaker 1: need to fix or check or you know, when I
- 10:46Speaker 1: moved in with my wife Tracy the day we got married,
- 10:50Speaker 1: into her six hundred square foot apartment or whatever it was,
- 10:56Speaker 1: and I mapped out the whole place, took pictures, mapped
- 10:59Speaker 1: it up out on a computer every inch, and then
- 11:03Speaker 1: we picked the furniture from her place and from my
- 11:06Speaker 1: place and decided what we were going to put in
- 11:08Speaker 1: there because I needed an office, but it was only
- 11:10Speaker 1: a wedd in bedroom, so we put the office in
- 11:12Speaker 1: the living room. And at that time I had a
- 11:16Speaker 1: massive desk doing a lot of graphic and design work
- 11:19Speaker 1: and all of that along with doing radio, and I
- 11:25Speaker 1: loved it. She could if she was watching TV, I
- 11:28Speaker 1: could literally reach back while I was at my desk
- 11:30Speaker 1: and hold her hand, and it was We often talk
- 11:34Speaker 1: about how cool it was to live that way, even
- 11:37Speaker 1: though we were both established in our careers and could
- 11:40Speaker 1: afford bigger We did that for two two and a
- 11:42Speaker 1: half years before we bought a house, and I often
- 11:46Speaker 1: as much as I like space and I like having
- 11:49Speaker 1: some land to go in the backyard to have a
- 11:52Speaker 1: nice barbecue, do you ever and you ever think, gosh,
- 11:56Speaker 1: it'd be nice to just have don't You don't know?
- 12:02Speaker 1: You don't ever think about having like just a tiny
- 12:04Speaker 1: place that you didn't have to worry about. Or No,
- 12:10Speaker 1: you could fit two of my houses in your house easy.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You've never been in my house.
- 12:14Speaker 1: No, but I know it's square footage because we've talked
- 12:16Speaker 1: about it. Oh, okay, I love room. Yeah you don't.
- 12:24Speaker 1: But you end up being underneath each other anyways, underfoot
- 12:27Speaker 1: all the time. Do you really have all the rooms?
- 12:30Speaker 1: Or are you in the kitchen in the living room
- 12:31Speaker 1: all the time.
- 12:33Speaker 2: Mostly the family hangs out in those areas, but it
- 12:36Speaker 2: is also nice to be able to go to your
- 12:37Speaker 2: own place. You guys are so in love, it's cute.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Well, you love your husband too, No, I do? I do?
- 12:48Speaker 1: She goes what is love?
- 12:49Speaker 2: Like?
- 12:51Speaker 1: You guys still still kiss and stuff.
- 12:54Speaker 2: You reach back and you hold her hand while you're working.
- 12:56Speaker 1: I love my wife. I like she. I have a
- 12:59Speaker 1: really etic There's always been a spark when we It's
- 13:03Speaker 1: one of the reasons I knew like when I that's holdsful.
- 13:07Speaker 2: I love my husband too, but we don't need to
- 13:09Speaker 2: touch that much. Yeah, we've been together twenty five years, Like.
- 13:13Speaker 1: We don't need We're going eighteen years of marriage this
- 13:17Speaker 1: coming Saturday on the twenty fifth. Oh yeah, eighteen years.
- 13:22Speaker 2: Are you going to do an anniversary theme for reporter
- 13:24Speaker 2: you and take the day off?
- 13:26Speaker 1: Oh no, I'm on Saturday. We'll we'll celebrate throughout the week. Okay, right, yeah, no,
- 13:31Speaker 1: we're pretty practical people. Cono, what about you in a
- 13:35Speaker 1: tiny house? I have a tiny house? Does still feel
- 13:40Speaker 1: huge to you? Portionately? Neil Savader in the Morning crew,
- 13:46Speaker 1: Happy Monday to you. Thanks for hanging out with us
- 13:48Speaker 1: today until nine o'clock. Then we hand things over to
- 13:52Speaker 1: Gary and Shannon, so go ne Aware. Hey, also a
- 13:57Speaker 1: little note, I hang out with Conway every Friday now
- 14:00Speaker 1: starting at seven, So join me there. Won't you have
- 14:03Speaker 1: a great time with him? He's you know, we started
- 14:06Speaker 1: doing food stuff and then he just says, you know,
- 14:09Speaker 1: no nothing, just come on and he just steers it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: But it's been a blast, and I appreciate him for
- 14:15Speaker 1: taking the time to have me on. That's a great invitation.
- 14:19Speaker 1: All right, Today, your back to back world champion Dodgers
- 14:22Speaker 1: take on the Rockies in Colorado with first pitch at
- 14:26Speaker 1: five forty. Listen to all Dodgers games on AM five seventy.
- 14:30Speaker 1: LA Sports stream all games on the iHeartRadio app Keyword
- 14:34Speaker 1: AM five seventy LA Sports brought to you by Asahi
- 14:38Speaker 1: super Dry discovered Japan's number one selling beer seek what
- 14:43Speaker 1: is unique? I love Asahi, you know with sushi ooh,
- 14:49Speaker 1: that used to be my jam. I don't need a
- 14:51Speaker 1: lot of sushi these days because I have a kidney transplant.
- 14:57Speaker 1: They don't like you eating raw stuff. Any who delish
- 15:02Speaker 1: love me some osagi? All right? So the Karen, the
- 15:06Speaker 1: term Karen's and I don't know what is the guy one?
- 15:09Speaker 1: Is it Ken or something? I don't know. They're changing.
- 15:11Speaker 1: I think there's a new one. Is it Jessica. Is
- 15:16Speaker 1: that the new one? Jessica is the new one? So
- 15:19Speaker 1: that changes, and really what it comes down to is
- 15:22Speaker 1: a certain age. You know, the name Karen was very popular,
- 15:28Speaker 1: like in the seventies. My sister's name is Karen, but
- 15:32Speaker 1: she changed it after all this to not Karen so
- 15:35Speaker 1: that she wouldn't get caught up. Thanks ConA for the charity. Laugh.
- 15:40Speaker 1: I appreciate it. But we use that, we use that,
- 15:45Speaker 1: and there are some legitimate terms that they're legitimate uses
- 15:49Speaker 1: for it, like the whole you know, let me speak
- 15:52Speaker 1: to the manager on everything. The entitlement stuff is garbage.
- 15:55Speaker 1: We all hate that. Nobody likes that. But what I
- 15:58Speaker 1: hate is when there are legitimate concerns, are legitimate beefs
- 16:04Speaker 1: with things. Now you're a Karen. Now it's like, oh,
- 16:08Speaker 1: this person doesn't like noise at four in the morning.
- 16:11Speaker 1: What a Karen. Nobody does? Man, nobody does. People want
- 16:15Speaker 1: to sleep. Sorry, that's not a Karen thing. That's a
- 16:19Speaker 1: society thing. That's a community thing. And so there was
- 16:23Speaker 1: a couple of stories that producer and I were talking
- 16:26Speaker 1: about that popped up that made me go, you know,
- 16:30Speaker 1: are these Karens or no? Okay, So, first of all,
- 16:34Speaker 1: the first one is someone that they've actually deemed the
- 16:38Speaker 1: Venice Karen, some guy and they put up these posters,
- 16:42Speaker 1: they're like wanted posters with the guy's picture on it
- 16:46Speaker 1: and his name and saying, this guy's a jerk, he's
- 16:50Speaker 1: the Venice Karen. He's gotten threats now social media attacks
- 16:56Speaker 1: on his character. Why because he lives in Venice and
- 17:00Speaker 1: he's annoyed by this restaurant nearby that has you know,
- 17:08Speaker 1: since the pandemic that everybody started eating outside. You had
- 17:11Speaker 1: to pivot, you had to, you know, that word that
- 17:13Speaker 1: we all loved during COVID Gonna Pivot, Pivot, Pivot friends
- 17:18Speaker 1: reference for those that watch, and that whole thing between, Hey,
- 17:23Speaker 1: we've you know, in the pandemic. You gotta feed everybody
- 17:27Speaker 1: in the outside. And then what happened was you had
- 17:30Speaker 1: a lot of restaurants, rightly, so that had to make
- 17:33Speaker 1: up and try and build, you know, their business back
- 17:37Speaker 1: up because it was stupid they were shut down in
- 17:40Speaker 1: the first place. And so they are now relying on
- 17:45Speaker 1: those outdoor seats even without a license or going through
- 17:49Speaker 1: the proper that the hell Fresco license or whatever the
- 17:53Speaker 1: permit that they used. So I don't know if this
- 17:59Speaker 1: falls into the Karen category. When you have this outdoor
- 18:04Speaker 1: place near residential where you can be loud, and I
- 18:11Speaker 1: guess with that attracts some crime elements, some fighting and
- 18:16Speaker 1: stuff like that, So drug dealing urinating because they don't
- 18:21Speaker 1: have the bathrooms for the extra people. They weren't built
- 18:25Speaker 1: for that, So you've got dudes going and peeing all
- 18:29Speaker 1: over the place and all of that. Now, this this
- 18:32Speaker 1: guy is deemed the Venice Karen, and I don't know
- 18:36Speaker 1: if that falls into I don't think it does. This
- 18:40Speaker 1: isn't just that cafe.
- 18:43Speaker 4: Though HBO's new documentary series Neighbors that talks about neighbors
- 18:50Speaker 4: that hate each other. Venice Karen is on there. So
- 18:53Speaker 4: this David guy is way worse than what you're describing. Well,
- 18:57Speaker 4: this guy property lines, you can't. He chases out like kids.
- 19:03Speaker 4: He's he's insane as the way the HBO documentary Neighbors
- 19:08Speaker 4: portrays him.
- 19:09Speaker 1: But he is insane. Okay. Do you think that that
- 19:13Speaker 1: is just a bias in the way they put this
- 19:16Speaker 1: together or I don't know if.
- 19:18Speaker 4: I'm just walking on the beach, like I don't know
- 19:20Speaker 4: this is a property, I'm not doing anything and ankinally
- 19:23Speaker 4: approaches me like get out of here.
- 19:26Speaker 1: But that here you're allowed to walk on the beach. No,
- 19:28Speaker 1: not in his territory. No you're not. No, you're not
- 19:33Speaker 1: during like during the day or after hours during the day.
- 19:36Speaker 4: He knows property lines, he has maps. He will tell
- 19:40Speaker 4: you if you're sitting on the beach, he'll say, like
- 19:43Speaker 4: you are four feet on this property, you need to
- 19:45Speaker 4: move forward. It's he's a wild guy and he likes
- 19:49Speaker 4: to do it though he likes to bring this upon himself.
- 19:52Speaker 1: Okay, well, I either stand corrected or I am uh
- 19:56Speaker 1: it's on the episode. You can watch it and then
- 19:58Speaker 1: you come back and you were I don't have time.
- 20:01Speaker 1: I'm a homeowner, Dave. I can't just watch.
- 20:04Speaker 4: Something like that. Fich he's at g is a Karen. Yeah,
- 20:10Speaker 4: I would say, okay, so that that the.
- 20:14Speaker 1: The cafe is not doing anything then, but so they're
- 20:18Speaker 1: not doing anything, they're there're some people are not doing anything.
- 20:21Speaker 1: I mean just reading a book of beach. No, no,
- 20:23Speaker 1: I'm talking about the cafe.
- 20:24Speaker 3: They're not loud at night, They're not again, this could
- 20:27Speaker 3: have been an incident where things happen. I get it,
- 20:30Speaker 3: But I wouldn't say that this cafe is the main
- 20:33Speaker 3: story behind Venice.
- 20:35Speaker 1: Karen. Well, I didn't mention them because I don't. I
- 20:37Speaker 1: don't know for myself, and and I am a supporter.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Don't associate a bunch of drunks going to a cafe.
- 20:43Speaker 1: It's in a bar. It's not it's a it's a cafe,
- 20:46Speaker 1: probably nice people and samples. Okay, Well, you love chaos,
- 20:50Speaker 1: I know it. Not this guy. I don't like this.
- 20:53Speaker 1: Just wait to you own a home Bob. This is
- 20:56Speaker 1: KFI heard everywhere on the iHeartRadio app.
- 20:58Speaker 2: You've been listening to the Bill Handle Show, Catch My
