- 0:00Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM, variety from the 80s through today. 609, Cubby, Christine, producer, Kristen,
- 0:05Speaker 1: thank you for joining us on this Wednesday morning hump day.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Beautiful day ahead, sunshine, clouds, a good blend, and a
- 0:12Speaker 1: high of 75 on this final day of September, Christine.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Can you believe it?
- 0:17Speaker 2: I love playing Do You Remember?
- 0:19Speaker 1: Yes, you know, we have to retire Earth, Wind & Fire,
- 0:22Speaker 1: and we have to retire this song, actually. In 2004,
- 0:25Speaker 1: Green Day had a big hit, and this was the song.
- 0:28Speaker 2: Wake me up When September ends.
- 0:35Speaker 1: That'd be 11.59 tonight.
- 0:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Wake me up when September ends. And then, boom, we
- 0:39Speaker 1: flipped all Christmas tomorrow.
- 0:41Speaker 2: 6 a.m. I got, like, all stats this morning, Cubby, of, like, 10%
- 0:45Speaker 2: of people have finished their Christmas shopping. Like, I don't
- 0:49Speaker 2: want to know. I was in the post office yesterday.
- 0:51Speaker 2: I did not see Christmas stamps.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Okay, good.
- 0:54Speaker 2: I was on the lookout.
- 0:55Speaker 1: All right.
- 0:56Speaker 2: I didn't see them yet.
- 0:57Speaker 1: And for the record, I was kidding about going all
- 0:59Speaker 1: Christmas tomorrow. Although I'm sure Christmas fans wouldn't mind hearing
- 1:02Speaker 1: it in October.
- 1:03Speaker 2: Very true.
- 1:03Speaker 1: But we are not flipping all Christmas until November. I'll
- 1:06Speaker 1: tell you that.
- 1:06Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:07Speaker 1: You spent your day, what, you had a podcast to
- 1:09Speaker 1: record yesterday?
- 1:10Speaker 2: Yes.
- 1:11Speaker 1: You went to the dentist yesterday. When did we start
- 1:13Speaker 1: with you?
- 1:13Speaker 2: It was a big day, wasn't it?
- 1:14Speaker 1: It was a big day.
- 1:15Speaker 2: The podcast is Inside Broadway, and it's the stars of
- 1:17Speaker 2: Two Strangers Carry a Cake Across New York. And they,
- 1:20Speaker 2: it's just, the two of them, they were both up
- 1:22Speaker 2: for Tony Awards. Sam Tutte and Christiane Pitts. And they
- 1:26Speaker 2: were so wonderful and funny and engaging. So once that's posted,
- 1:30Speaker 2: I encourage you to listen to it.
- 1:32Speaker 1: And it's a great show, right?
- 1:32Speaker 2: I'll let you know when it's up. Yeah, it's a
- 1:34Speaker 2: great show. It's closing November 29th. Get yourself in there
- 1:36Speaker 2: because it's so good.
- 1:37Speaker 1: We'll be all Christmas by then, November 29th.
- 1:39Speaker 2: We will be. And there's like a lot of Christmas
- 1:42Speaker 2: in the show too. So it kind of works. But yes,
- 1:45Speaker 2: at the dentist yesterday, and I love our dentist, Notchview
- 1:48Speaker 2: Dental Group in Clifton, New Jersey. I was listening to
- 1:51Speaker 2: Rich Kaminsky yesterday.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Oh, they have us on?
- 1:53Speaker 2: They have us on all the time. All the time. Stephanie, Dr. Ralph,
- 1:56Speaker 2: thank you guys.
- 1:57Speaker 1: I got to ask you a question. Do you get
- 1:58Speaker 1: nervous before the dentist? Because I used to. And now
- 2:02Speaker 1: that we're so busy and life is just nonstop, I
- 2:06Speaker 1: now look forward to going to the dentist. Not for
- 2:09Speaker 1: a root canal, but if it's a routine cleaning, I
- 2:11Speaker 1: can't wait for that chair.
- 2:12Speaker 3: To go back.
- 2:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:14Speaker 1: And I'm like, just do your thing.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Just get some rest.
- 2:17Speaker 1: Lean back.
- 2:17Speaker 2: Anywhere we can.
- 2:18Speaker 1: And then I see the light. And the light says Ritter. R-I-T-T-E-R.
- 2:21Speaker 2: I always remember that.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Ritter.
- 2:23Speaker 2: Yeah, it always says that, doesn't it?
- 2:24Speaker 1: Yep. And I think of John Ritter.
- 2:27Speaker 2: And then you go, good night.
- 2:29Speaker 1: But that's only for a routine cleaning.
- 2:31Speaker 2: Yes.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Now, if I'm there for a cavity or root canal,
- 2:32Speaker 1: then I'm kind of on edge.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Well, that's a different thing.
- 2:34Speaker 1: And I'm holding on.
- 2:35Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 2:36Speaker 1: You ever eat a whole box of Oreos in the
- 2:38Speaker 1: waiting room before you go to the dentist? No. That's
- 2:40Speaker 1: a fun thing to do. Yeah.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Let them clean that up.
- 2:43Speaker 3: Yep.
- 2:43Speaker 1: And tomorrow kicks off National Popcorn Month. So how about
- 2:46Speaker 1: some popcorn before the dentist?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Dentists must love that.
- 2:50Speaker 1: I'm guessing you do. Do you like clean, do like
- 2:52Speaker 1: a toothbrush? Do you clean your teeth before you go
- 2:55Speaker 1: to the dentist?
- 2:56Speaker 2: Yeah, of course.
- 2:57Speaker 1: No, like the moment before, like an hour before, half
- 2:59Speaker 1: hour before?
- 3:00Speaker 2: Yeah, just like, you know, I mean, yesterday my appointment
- 3:03Speaker 2: was at like two, so I had lunch and brushed
- 3:05Speaker 2: my teeth.
- 3:06Speaker 1: But normally you wouldn't after lunch. Yes, I would. You would?
- 3:09Speaker 2: I brush my teeth like crazy.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Oh, I didn't know that.
- 3:11Speaker 2: Stephanie said I have beautiful oral hygiene at home.
- 3:15Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:16Speaker 2: Yes, she said my home care is very good.
- 3:18Speaker 1: So I brush my teeth at night before bed and
- 3:20Speaker 1: in the morning, and you do it more than twice
- 3:22Speaker 1: a day? Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 3:23Speaker 2: I brush my teeth, like, at least three times a day.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Wow. Good for you.
- 3:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I don't know. Maybe, like, I don't know if you're
- 3:30Speaker 2: supposed to or not. I just feel better.
- 3:32Speaker 1: Just breathe at me real quick before we go to break. Oh,
- 3:35Speaker 1: that smells great.
- 3:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Wow.
- 3:36Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Light FM, coming right back with more variety from the
- 3:39Speaker 1: 80s through today.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I need to tell you two things.
- 3:48Speaker 1: Cubby and Christine's.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Two pretty cool things.
- 3:53Speaker 1: Christine, there's a beer, Voodoo Ranger IPA, and they've launched
- 3:57Speaker 1: a nationwide contest giving away free beer. It's open to
- 4:02Speaker 1: anybody who can legally prove their name is Michael Myers.
- 4:06Speaker 2: Oh, okay.
- 4:07Speaker 1: The winners will receive the cash equivalent to a year's
- 4:11Speaker 1: supply of Voodoo Ranger beer, along with a copy of
- 4:14Speaker 1: the upcoming movie, Halloween, the game. Now, over the next week,
- 4:19Speaker 1: eligible adults with the name Michael Myers can visit the
- 4:23Speaker 1: Voodoo Ranger website to enter. With contest winners being revealed
- 4:27Speaker 1: on October 19th, which, Christine, happens to be Michael Myers' birthday.
- 4:33Speaker 1: All right, so just Google Voodoo Ranger IPA. That'll take
- 4:37Speaker 1: you to the website. And if you can prove your
- 4:39Speaker 1: name is Michael Myers... You may be off to big things. Wow.
- 4:42Speaker 1: What's your cool thing, Christine?
- 4:43Speaker 2: Well, now we need like happy joy joy music because
- 4:46Speaker 2: I'm talking Dolly Parton and coffee. So Dolly had worked
- 4:50Speaker 2: on a coffee line called Cup of Ambition. Of course,
- 4:54Speaker 2: you know, after 9 to 5 song.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:55Speaker 2: One of the lyrics in 9 to 5. And do
- 4:57Speaker 2: you know Community Coffee Company? They're Baton Rouge-based community coffee, family-owned. Like,
- 5:08Speaker 2: I see them when I'm down in New Orleans.
- 5:09Speaker 1: They're everywhere, right?
- 5:09Speaker 2: Yes. And I think they're here, too.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Yes.
- 5:11Speaker 2: Well, they are the ones who partnered with Dolly Parton. Okay.
- 5:15Speaker 2: So they are releasing the coffee nationwide this week. You
- 5:19Speaker 2: have light roast, you have medium, you have dark roast.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And Dolly had recorded three commercials promoting the coffee. So
- 5:25Speaker 2: we're actually seeing commercials of Dolly talking about her new coffee.
- 5:29Speaker 1: And you brought up a good point. She accepted an award. Yeah.
- 5:32Speaker 1: That she pre-recorded. Yeah. Like, little things like that are happening.
- 5:35Speaker 2: Yeah, there's things that, like.
- 5:36Speaker 1: It gives you goosebumps.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, kind of, like, will feel like she's still here.
- 5:39Speaker 2: The company says coffee sales will support Dolly's Imagination Library
- 5:43Speaker 2: and will also help pay for the children's reading program
- 5:46Speaker 2: in Lafayette Parish. And just so you know, it is
- 5:50Speaker 2: ground coffee that you can order now, and the K-Cups
- 5:53Speaker 2: are on the way.
- 5:53Speaker 1: All right, this has been your Beer and Coffee Report.
- 5:56Speaker 1: On 106.7 Light FM.
- 5:58Speaker 3: More Covey and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 6:01Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 6:03Speaker 1: Put me in some Burberry. Christine and I are working
- 6:08Speaker 1: on a parody of this song. Something more our speed.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Put me in Old Navy.
- 6:14Speaker 1: Put me in Old Navy. I like that. Put me
- 6:18Speaker 1: in Bloomingdale's. Put me in Macy's.
- 6:19Speaker 2: Yeah, go Old Navy.
- 6:22Speaker 1: Put me in Goodwill.
- 6:23Speaker 2: Kohl's.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Put me in Kohl's. Give me a coupon, 25% off.
- 6:27Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM with Cubby, Christine, and Chris.
- 6:31Speaker 2: The place we can afford, please.
- 6:34Speaker 1: All right. It's the end of September, folks. Tomorrow's October 1st.
- 6:38Speaker 1: It's time to break out the Halloween stories.
- 6:40Speaker 2: It's full-on Halloween.
- 6:42Speaker 1: I mean, let's talk about it. Yes. You have a
- 6:43Speaker 1: Halloween story right now, and not the movie Halloween, although
- 6:46Speaker 1: I just played that theme. Let me play it again.
- 6:48Speaker 1: This is perfect.
- 6:50Speaker 2: It is.
- 6:50Speaker 1: What do you got, Christine?
- 6:52Speaker 2: Well, these are our favorite destinations for Halloween.
- 6:55Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:56Speaker 2: So we're talking, you got to have some, you got
- 6:58Speaker 2: to put me and Chanel to go to some of
- 6:59Speaker 2: these places, okay?
- 7:00Speaker 1: You've already done one of these trips this year.
- 7:02Speaker 2: I've done a couple. I missed out on one. One
- 7:04Speaker 2: of the top places, and this was where I planned
- 7:06Speaker 2: to go in August, but we couldn't get it together, Edinburgh, Scotland.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And that's considered just creepy?
- 7:12Speaker 2: Yeah. You've got the medieval streets and old graveyards and
- 7:16Speaker 2: ghost walks and centuries of Scottish folklore. Built-in atmosphere. I
- 7:20Speaker 2: so wanted to go there. So hopefully Eric and I
- 7:22Speaker 2: can do that one day.
- 7:23Speaker 1: That takes some planning. Like you've got to plan next
- 7:25Speaker 1: year already.
- 7:26Speaker 2: We have to.
- 7:26Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 7:27Speaker 2: But we did get to one of the top places,
- 7:29Speaker 2: and it is attainable, kids. Salem, Massachusetts.
- 7:32Speaker 1: I've heard amazing things about it.
- 7:34Speaker 2: So fun.
- 7:35Speaker 1: Isn't it beautiful no matter what time of year you go?
- 7:37Speaker 1: But they really do it well for Halloween, right?
- 7:38Speaker 2: They do. It's just that they are a small town
- 7:41Speaker 2: and they get super, super crowded. So if you're going
- 7:43Speaker 2: to go, you have lots of company. Just keep it
- 7:45Speaker 2: in mind. But they know how to do Halloween. If
- 7:49Speaker 2: you're going to travel, again, Derry, North Ireland. City's massive
- 7:54Speaker 2: Halloween festival features parades, street performers, immersive events. They've got
- 7:58Speaker 2: some old traditions there. Transylvania.
- 8:01Speaker 1: I mean. You can't go wrong with that name, can you? Yes.
- 8:04Speaker 1: That screams Halloween.
- 8:06Speaker 2: Medieval castles, Romanian folklore, Gothic mountain scenery make it the
- 8:10Speaker 2: most naturally spooky destination on the list. Yes, I'm allowed
- 8:14Speaker 2: to do the accent because my dad was from Hungary.
- 8:16Speaker 1: I was going to say, you do it so well.
- 8:18Speaker 2: I grew up listening to it.
- 8:20Speaker 1: That was really good.
- 8:21Speaker 2: And the territories have always changed, so there's a mix there.
- 8:24Speaker 2: Sometimes you'll hear Hungarian. Have you ever been there?
- 8:25Speaker 1: No. No.
- 8:27Speaker 2: No, we haven't been there.
- 8:28Speaker 1: You've got to put that on the list.
- 8:29Speaker 2: Okay, that's going on the list. Next to Scotland. Yes.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Sleepy Hollow, New York. Guys.
- 8:33Speaker 1: Right here, baby.
- 8:34Speaker 2: Come on. Headless Horseman. So much fun going over there.
- 8:38Speaker 2: And it is creepy. Like, when you talk creepy factor,
- 8:41Speaker 2: you can go to the graveyard of the Headless Horseman. Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 2: it's so cool. Quebec City, Canada. They're cobblestone streets, century-old architecture,
- 8:51Speaker 2: and they do good ghost tours. Tokyo, Japan.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Japan. I had no idea. I was just there, but
- 8:58Speaker 1: I mean, I had no idea they were known for
- 8:59Speaker 1: Halloween stuff.
- 9:00Speaker 2: Halloween here is more modern than traditional. Built around theme parks,
- 9:04Speaker 2: elaborate decorations, limited time attractions, and pop-up culture-driven seasonal entertainment.
- 9:08Speaker 2: So they're doing up Halloween. And finally... Again, another big favorite,
- 9:13Speaker 2: New Orleans.
- 9:13Speaker 1: I was about to say, I haven't heard Florida or
- 9:15Speaker 1: New Orleans yet. Yes.
- 9:17Speaker 2: Oh, Orlando. You're right. Orlando's right on there.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Okay. Yes. I know Sarasota or that other old town
- 9:23Speaker 1: is also good.
- 9:23Speaker 2: Oh, some of the old towns?
- 9:24Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Yeah, but Orlando because you've got Walt Disney World.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Right.
- 9:30Speaker 2: And they do a Halloween like crazy. So that's a
- 9:33Speaker 2: lot of fun. And New Orleans, Eric and I did
- 9:35Speaker 2: New Orleans a couple of years ago at Halloween and
- 9:37Speaker 2: just loved it. It's the perfect place.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Well, it's such an old town.
- 9:40Speaker 2: It is. And they've got great ghost tours and people
- 9:43Speaker 2: really go all out and decorate. It's great.
- 9:46Speaker 1: Give us a text if you do these road trips
- 9:48Speaker 1: around here and you do the Halloween things. 44363. We
- 9:52Speaker 1: would love to hear from you. It's Light FM on
- 9:54Speaker 1: a hump day.
- 9:54Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 10:00Speaker 1: What are the meanest Zodiac signs? Oh, I know. Let's go.
- 10:04Speaker 1: 106.7 Light FM. Cubby, Christine, producer Kristen. No, no, no.
- 10:07Speaker 1: I will say.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Yes.
- 10:08Speaker 1: You and Kristen have the same sign.
- 10:11Speaker 2: We're Capricorns.
- 10:12Speaker 1: Yes. And that's considered.
- 10:15Speaker 2: No, this is.
- 10:15Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:16Speaker 2: This is not an official.
- 10:17Speaker 1: I think you're nice people.
- 10:18Speaker 2: Thank you, Cubby. I actually have what is considered the
- 10:21Speaker 2: nicest sign in the Zodiac. And it's not Capricorn. And
- 10:25Speaker 2: Kristen and I were like, no surprise. We're not the meanest.
- 10:29Speaker 1: Just the nicest.
- 10:30Speaker 2: Because I don't know why Capricorns get this rap, but
- 10:33Speaker 2: we do, of being like really serious and cold.
- 10:37Speaker 1: All kidding aside, I don't see that.
- 10:38Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 10:39Speaker 1: At all.
- 10:40Speaker 2: I think we're pretty nice.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Of course, I haven't seen you at home.
- 10:43Speaker 2: I think we're pretty nice at home.
- 10:44Speaker 1: But if you're the same at home as you are here,
- 10:46Speaker 1: you seem very approachable, very nice, very kind.
- 10:49Speaker 2: We're very consistent.
- 10:50Speaker 1: Yes.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Capricorns. We're good people. But not the nicest. The nicest sign,
- 10:56Speaker 2: according to the experts, is the Pisces.
- 10:59Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:00Speaker 2: Pisces people, you have been named the nicest zodiac sign.
- 11:04Speaker 2: You're able to figure out other people's feelings before those
- 11:06Speaker 2: people even get the chance to speak. That means you're
- 11:09Speaker 2: incredible friends, a shoulder to cry on. You'll soothe your friend.
- 11:13Speaker 2: Pisces will make you feel loved, appreciated, accepted. Not in
- 11:18Speaker 2: my experience, but okay.
- 11:20Speaker 1: Well, I'm a Gemini, and we're known for having twins.
- 11:24Speaker 1: So we're the nicest and the meanest.
- 11:27Speaker 2: A lot of you Geminis live up to your names.
- 11:30Speaker 2: Eric is a Gemini, too.
- 11:31Speaker 1: Now, do you see our two personalities?
- 11:34Speaker 2: He's really even keel, more so than I feel like
- 11:37Speaker 2: every boyfriend I've ever had has been Gemini. And have, like,
- 11:40Speaker 2: so been Gemini.
- 11:41Speaker 1: Wow.
- 11:41Speaker 2: Like, start out so great, and then it's like, what?
- 11:44Speaker 2: We flipped the script so fast. I haven't seen you
- 11:46Speaker 2: do that. Honestly, I haven't seen Eric do that. You
- 11:49Speaker 2: guys have been good. I feel like really nice signs
- 11:52Speaker 2: from what I'm seeing, like, Leo, Cancer, seems to be, like,
- 11:56Speaker 2: a really nice sensitive sign. Sagittarius, the people right before
- 12:00Speaker 2: the Capricorns.
- 12:01Speaker 1: Yeah. We read all of them.
- 12:04Speaker 2: I know, because everybody's got a beautiful sign.
- 12:06Speaker 1: We're trying to offend anybody, I think.
- 12:07Speaker 2: There's that.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Somebody's waiting for their sign to be called and be like, oh,
- 12:11Speaker 1: I hate that guy or that girl. Or if you
- 12:13Speaker 1: have this sign. Yeah.
- 12:15Speaker 2: But I didn't have a good experience with a Pisces,
- 12:20Speaker 2: so that's just me.
- 12:23Speaker 1: Do you still read horoscopes, by the way? There was
- 12:25Speaker 1: a time where I would run to the paper and
- 12:26Speaker 1: read it. Oh, I don't really.
- 12:28Speaker 2: When do we check the paper?
- 12:29Speaker 1: Well, that's that's the problem, too. We don't really go
- 12:31Speaker 1: to the paper.
- 12:32Speaker 2: I don't know. Have you just like in your life
- 12:37Speaker 2: kind of observed who's who's the kindest or do you
- 12:39Speaker 2: not even pay attention?
- 12:40Speaker 1: So I don't really pay attention. I really don't. I
- 12:43Speaker 1: really don't.
- 12:43Speaker 2: What's Coco?
- 12:44Speaker 1: Well, she was born. Her birthday, September 3rd. So that's Virgo, right? Yes.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I don't know what Virgos are like. How are they described?
- 12:54Speaker 1: If I can get the actual, if I could Google
- 12:55Speaker 1: it and find out.
- 12:56Speaker 2: You know, my friend Ann Sayers, she's Virgo.
- 12:59Speaker 1: Okay.
- 12:59Speaker 2: So I love her. She's great. If she's any indication
- 13:02Speaker 2: of Virgos, that's really good.
- 13:04Speaker 1: Virgo definition. Virgo is someone born between August 23rd and
- 13:08Speaker 1: September 22nd. Okay, I know that. Known for being analytical, practical, hardworking,
- 13:14Speaker 1: and deeply dedicated to helping others. Yeah, that's my wife.
- 13:17Speaker 1: Definitely hardworking. Service driven. They love to be useful, improve
- 13:25Speaker 1: broken symptoms, and support their friends.
- 13:29Speaker 2: Oh, look at that. Virgos are pretty deep and reliable.
- 13:32Speaker 1: Oh, and they're perfectionists, too. Their high standards can turn
- 13:35Speaker 1: into overthinking, worry, or being overly critical of themselves and others.
- 13:40Speaker 1: They're loyal, dependable, cautious. Hi, honey. I'll see you later.
- 13:44Speaker 2: I mean, that kind of sounds like you're Capricorns. It's
- 13:49Speaker 2: very similar.
- 13:49Speaker 1: This is a copy and paste, probably. Same as Capricorn.
- 13:54Speaker 2: I don't know.
- 13:55Speaker 1: Hit us up at 44363. Hit us up with your
- 13:58Speaker 1: Zodiac sign.
- 13:59Speaker 2: And who do you think is the nicest?
- 14:00Speaker 1: And who do you think is the nicest?
- 14:01Speaker 2: Like, what have you found in life? Who's the nicest sign?
- 14:04Speaker 1: All right, what do we have coming up in the news?
- 14:06Speaker 2: We're going to check the headlines. And, ladies, apparently we
- 14:08Speaker 2: need to be drinking a lot more water.
- 14:11Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 14:14Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 14:15Speaker 1: Good morning.
- 14:16Speaker 2: And good morning, Cubby. And, yes, the Yankees won last night.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Game one of the Wild Card World Series. So it's
- 14:24Speaker 2: got to be best of three.
- 14:25Speaker 1: What's the Wild Card? They're not in the World Series yet.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, you're right. Jumping the gun here.
- 14:30Speaker 1: Playoffs.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I feel confident, though. I would like it to be
- 14:32Speaker 2: the World Series. Yeah. But we hope this leads them
- 14:36Speaker 2: on the road there. So they shut out the Red
- 14:38Speaker 2: Sox 9-0.
- 14:41Speaker 1: U.S.
- 14:41Speaker 2: Withdrawing troops out of Iraq after a 12-year mission.
- 14:45Speaker 3: U.S.
- 14:45Speaker 2: Military has had troops in the northern Iraq area since
- 14:48Speaker 2: 2014 battling ISIS as part of Operation Inherent Resolve. The
- 14:53Speaker 2: terrorists were defeated in 2019. Withdrawal plan negotiated in 2024.
- 14:58Speaker 2: And the final pullout date is set for today. And
- 15:01Speaker 2: a former American Idol contestant going to prison for murdering
- 15:04Speaker 2: his wife in Ohio. A jury found Caleb Flynn guilty
- 15:08Speaker 2: of killing his wife Ashley in their Tip City home
- 15:11Speaker 2: earlier this year. Prosecution said Flynn killed her because he
- 15:14Speaker 2: wanted to be free to marry his mistress.
- 15:16Speaker 1: And you're telling me like in court they were playing
- 15:19Speaker 1: songs he wrote?
- 15:20Speaker 2: For the woman he was in love with.
- 15:23Speaker 1: In love with?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Allegedly, yes.
- 15:25Speaker 1: Oh, my gosh.
- 15:25Speaker 2: Yeah, then they played the full boat songs. He sat
- 15:29Speaker 2: through it, and they did. Flynn had claimed an intruder
- 15:32Speaker 2: killed her while the two slept in separate rooms. By
- 15:35Speaker 2: the way, that was his story. In sports, baseball, again,
- 15:38Speaker 2: Yankees beat the Red Sox 9-0. This is game one
- 15:42Speaker 2: of the wildcard series. Game two tonight at 8, or
- 15:45Speaker 2: actually 7.30. It starts a little early. They start talking early.
- 15:48Speaker 2: WNBA Liberty defeated the Lynx 87-71. They advance to the
- 15:52Speaker 2: next round. And hockey is back. Rangers lost to the
- 15:55Speaker 2: Bruins 3-0.
- 15:56Speaker 1: I thought you were talking preseason, by the way, earlier
- 15:59Speaker 1: when you mentioned that. I didn't realize it was opening
- 16:01Speaker 1: night of hockey.
- 16:02Speaker 2: You know, I feel like it snuck up on us.
- 16:04Speaker 1: It really did.
- 16:04Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:05Speaker 1: It's already here.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Happened fast.
- 16:06Speaker 1: NBA think in a couple of weeks.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Right? Yep. Yep. Ladies, apparently we need to drink more water.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Most women report sipping just about 40 ounces of water
- 16:15Speaker 2: a day. That's half the recommended amount to keep women healthy.
- 16:19Speaker 2: So if you have muscle cramps, dizzy spells, headaches, it
- 16:24Speaker 2: could be because you're not getting enough water.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And I think that goes for everybody, really. We should
- 16:28Speaker 1: all drink more water.
- 16:29Speaker 2: Absolutely, yeah.
- 16:30Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 16:35Speaker 1: What do most people not know? It's 106.7 Light FM.
- 16:38Speaker 1: You know us. We're Cubby and Christine, producer Kristen. But
- 16:41Speaker 1: Reddit had a question. And it was a simple question.
- 16:45Speaker 1: What do most people not know? And here are some
- 16:47Speaker 1: of the answers. And let me know if you know
- 16:49Speaker 1: some of these, Christine.
- 16:51Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 16:51Speaker 1: Have you recently changed your password? And if so, what
- 16:54Speaker 1: is your password? Apparently, when people change their password, they
- 16:58Speaker 1: just don't know it after that.
- 16:59Speaker 2: Yeah, very true.
- 17:00Speaker 1: Do you do anything specifically, like after you change your password?
- 17:04Speaker 1: Here at work, I always forget the work password. Yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 1: that's bad. So the day I change it, I put
- 17:09Speaker 1: it in my notes on my phone.
- 17:11Speaker 2: But do you ever have to get into an app
- 17:13Speaker 2: and you don't know what your password is and you're
- 17:16Speaker 2: like on the fly, you've got to change it?
- 17:19Speaker 1: Yes.
- 17:19Speaker 2: But you don't make a note of it wherever you
- 17:21Speaker 2: make a note? And then the next time you go back,
- 17:23Speaker 2: you have to change it again?
- 17:25Speaker 1: And I'm so used to face ID on everything now.
- 17:28Speaker 2: Yes, I know. I'm always like, read my face.
- 17:31Speaker 1: I know, read it. Look, it's me. So you have
- 17:34Speaker 1: everything from passwords to this. Bananas are berries. Did you
- 17:39Speaker 1: know bananas are berries?
- 17:41Speaker 2: Honestly, I did not know that. We looked it up.
- 17:44Speaker 2: It's true. I didn't know that.
- 17:46Speaker 1: Did you know that Antarctica is a desert?
- 17:51Speaker 2: Not really. I never thought about it.
- 17:52Speaker 1: When you think desert, you think sunny, 120 degrees. And dust.
- 17:57Speaker 1: And camels.
- 17:58Speaker 2: But now we're talking polar bears.
- 18:00Speaker 1: But Antarctica is a desert. Yeah. How to use there, there,
- 18:07Speaker 1: and there. So there's T-H-E-R-E. There's T-H-E-I-R. There's T-H-E-Y apostrophe R-E.
- 18:18Speaker 2: I will not correct you, but It makes me crazy,
- 18:21Speaker 2: but yes.
- 18:22Speaker 1: I have a pet peeve with my brother-in-law and I've
- 18:24Speaker 1: never told him this and I'm about to snap one day.
- 18:27Speaker 1: I've told you this.
- 18:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Sometimes he'll text me and if he says, you're welcome,
- 18:31Speaker 1: for example, it's always Y-O-U-R and never Y-O-U. And every
- 18:38Speaker 1: single time I'm like, this is the day I'm going
- 18:41Speaker 1: to say, no, it's Y-O-U-R-E.
- 18:44Speaker 2: And does he say me too, T-O instead of T-O-O?
- 18:48Speaker 1: I don't think so.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Does that get you? That gets me too.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yeah. If they're going to write me too, it has
- 18:53Speaker 1: to be two O's, right?
- 18:54Speaker 2: Yes. Okay. It's like me as well.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yes. Other things people may not know. The average person
- 18:59Speaker 1: will spend about five to six years of their life
- 19:02Speaker 1: waiting in line. It's a surprising amount of time we
- 19:05Speaker 1: spend just waiting around.
- 19:07Speaker 2: That's awful.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Probably more around here too if you count traffic and
- 19:10Speaker 1: all that.
- 19:11Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 19:13Speaker 1: Did you know that Oscar the Grouch was orange on
- 19:16Speaker 1: Sesame Street on the very first season? I did not
- 19:19Speaker 1: know that. No.
- 19:20Speaker 2: No, I'm glad they changed them up.
- 19:22Speaker 1: Or maybe the TVs just changed.
- 19:26Speaker 2: Mind blown.
- 19:26Speaker 1: When Sesame Street first came out. Here's one. That phone
- 19:32Speaker 1: number you have, like when I call you on your
- 19:33Speaker 1: cell phone.
- 19:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 19:35Speaker 1: You don't own that phone number. You lease it from
- 19:38Speaker 1: a carrier. Yeah.
- 19:40Speaker 2: I do know that because I always wanted like take
- 19:42Speaker 2: it with me if I change services and that's like
- 19:45Speaker 2: a big request. Right. You don't get to keep that
- 19:47Speaker 2: number necessarily.
- 19:48Speaker 1: They'll charge you sometimes, right?
- 19:49Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah.
- 19:50Speaker 1: And finally, on this list, when you sneeze in the
- 19:53Speaker 1: middle of peeing, it speeds up. What? Probably something you
- 19:59Speaker 1: never paid attention to. But next time you're on the bowl.
- 20:02Speaker 2: I thought everything stopped for a second.
- 20:05Speaker 1: I think it just speeds up. I thought you had.
- 20:07Speaker 2: To sneeze or cough. Everything is like on hold. And
- 20:10Speaker 2: then we continue.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 2: I think I'm sharing too much. I'm going to stop now.
- 20:16Speaker 1: I'm trying to think if I've ever been midstream and
- 20:19Speaker 1: I've sneezed and I don't know if I have.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Could you make that work? Like look into a light
- 20:23Speaker 2: or something next time you go.
- 20:25Speaker 1: I'm thinking the flow comes out a little bit quicker.
- 20:29Speaker 2: Well, according to this. Yeah.
- 20:32Speaker 1: When you, when you sneeze, you're right though. Everything does
- 20:35Speaker 1: kind of.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Everything stops.
- 20:37Speaker 1: Your eyes shut. It's like your body's taking a screenshot.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Don't you get afraid if you're driving and you
- 20:42Speaker 2: have to sneeze and you're like, oh no, oh no.
- 20:44Speaker 2: And I'm like, please let no one be around. Right.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Is this the moment I have to change lanes?
- 20:48Speaker 2: I'm going to be gone for a second.
- 20:49Speaker 1: Okay. Anyway, any fun facts out there? Something maybe you
- 20:53Speaker 1: didn't know until late in life?
- 20:55Speaker 2: Educators.
- 20:56Speaker 1: Want to hear from you. 44363. Yes, educators.
- 20:59Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine. And the great music variety you expect.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Next on Light FM.
- 21:04Speaker 2: Here we are.
- 21:05Speaker 1: Final day of September. It's Light FM with Cubby and
- 21:08Speaker 1: Christine in the morning. Got producer Kristen. And yeah, September's done.
- 21:12Speaker 1: We go all Christmas tomorrow. That was a joke. We
- 21:16Speaker 1: don't go Christmas.
- 21:16Speaker 2: People won't believe you.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I know. I got to be careful. Do you know
- 21:19Speaker 1: there are some stations? I'm not kidding you. Last year,
- 21:22Speaker 1: they flipped to all Christmas October 1st. Oh, boy. Yeah.
- 21:26Speaker 1: We're going to do our usual.
- 21:27Speaker 2: We'll get there.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Then November, we'll get there.
- 21:28Speaker 2: Yes.
- 21:29Speaker 1: But yeah, I mean, I'm seeing stories about one to
- 21:31Speaker 1: two percent of shoppers have already finished their Christmas shopping.
- 21:35Speaker 2: Please. It stresses me.
- 21:38Speaker 1: It's coming, man.
- 21:39Speaker 2: I know. I know. I was in Macy's and they
- 21:42Speaker 2: were all done up for Christmas already.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Yeah, there's already a turf war going on at Costco
- 21:47Speaker 1: and Lowe's and Home Depot where they have all the
- 21:51Speaker 1: Halloween animatronics. And then right next to it, all the
- 21:54Speaker 1: Christmas animatronics. Oh, boy. That's always funny. I've seen TikTok
- 21:58Speaker 1: videos of that, like a big turf war going on.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Wow.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But we're right in the sweet spot right now. Everything's
- 22:04Speaker 1: coming at us.
- 22:05Speaker 2: It's good. Like at Macy's, they had a lot of
- 22:07Speaker 2: the gift sets and stuff that I like to get.
- 22:08Speaker 2: And I'm thinking, just get them and get them mailed out.
- 22:11Speaker 2: Because I have friends overseas. You've got to get that
- 22:13Speaker 2: stuff out early. The post offices get so, so busy.
- 22:16Speaker 2: I was there yesterday. So the Christmas stamps are not
- 22:20Speaker 2: out yet, just for the record. I didn't see them yet,
- 22:24Speaker 2: but I saw the deadlines. And if you're mailing, you know, U.S.
- 22:28Speaker 2: first class, December 17th is the deadline for Christmas cards.
- 22:32Speaker 2: And Hanukkah is very early this year.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Oh, good point.
- 22:36Speaker 2: The deadlines are coming up fast.
- 22:39Speaker 1: It's weird to talk about Christmas, but as you know,
- 22:41Speaker 1: as quick as I snap my fingers, it's going to
- 22:44Speaker 1: be at our front door.
- 22:45Speaker 2: What about the tree? Did you hear the Rockefeller Center
- 22:48Speaker 2: Christmas tree will be arriving on November 7th?
- 22:51Speaker 1: We just don't know where it's coming from yet.
- 22:53Speaker 2: We have no idea, though. We don't know which tree
- 22:55Speaker 2: it is.
- 22:55Speaker 1: That's always a big deal, by the way, when they
- 22:57Speaker 1: find a tree and they talk to the people that
- 22:59Speaker 1: own the house. And then they tell you a story
- 23:01Speaker 1: how it's been in their family for hundreds of years.
- 23:04Speaker 2: And then they start crying.
- 23:05Speaker 1: Let's cut it down.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Why are you taking it down?
- 23:08Speaker 1: But then they do great things with it. Then it
- 23:10Speaker 1: becomes like mulch and it goes into parks and all that.
- 23:13Speaker 2: It gets a lot of love and spreads a lot
- 23:15Speaker 2: of joy. I understand.
- 23:16Speaker 1: Well, we hope to spread some winning right now. 1-800-222-1067.
- 23:21Speaker 1: We need two people to play a trivia battle, and
- 23:23Speaker 1: what are they playing for, Christine?
- 23:24Speaker 2: Tickets to see In the Heights at New York City Center,
- 23:27Speaker 2: this Tony-winning musical coming to New York City Center right
- 23:31Speaker 2: now this fall. It gets you dancing in your seat
- 23:33Speaker 2: with its game-changing blend of Latin rhythms, hip-hop, and traditional
- 23:36Speaker 2: Broadway sounds. For tickets, visit nycitycenter.org. or give us a
- 23:41Speaker 2: call and play.
- 23:41Speaker 1: 1-800-222-1067. More Covey and Christine.
- 23:46Speaker 3: And the great music variety you expect. Next on Light FM.
- 23:50Speaker 1: You pretty good at trivia?
- 23:51Speaker 3: Light FM's Trivia Battle.
- 23:54Speaker 1: Christine, it is the final Trivia Battle of September, and
- 23:58Speaker 1: let me introduce to you who's on Team Covey. Okay.
- 24:01Speaker 1: Scott from Plainview. And I believe, Scott, you have played before,
- 24:05Speaker 1: but what's your record? How many times have you won?
- 24:07Speaker 1: How many times have you lost? I've won once, and
- 24:10Speaker 1: I think I've lost twice. Okay. So he's one and two. Yes.
- 24:15Speaker 1: One and two. And who is he playing against? Good luck, Scott.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Kim in Connecticut. Good morning, Kim.
- 24:20Speaker 1: Hi, good morning. Hi.
- 24:22Speaker 2: How about for you? Have you played with us before?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Yes. Okay. And what's your record?
- 24:27Speaker 2: I'm one and one.
- 24:28Speaker 1: One and one. All right. Okay. People play so much,
- 24:31Speaker 1: we have to start keeping records. Like we're hitting up
- 24:33Speaker 1: the newspaper and looking at all the sports scores. Well, actually,
- 24:38Speaker 1: speaking of records, Scott, you're going to get three questions. Kim,
- 24:41Speaker 1: you're going to get three questions. Best out of three
- 24:43Speaker 1: is going to win our trivia battle. And Scott, question
- 24:45Speaker 1: number one for you has to do with Major League Baseball.
- 24:49Speaker 1: Two MLB teams lost at least 100 games this season.
- 24:54Speaker 1: The Colorado Rockies lost And who else? A, Seattle Mariners, B,
- 24:59Speaker 1: San Diego Padres, or C, Los Angeles Angels?
- 25:05Speaker 3: Caution, I don't really follow baseball.
- 25:08Speaker 1: Los Angeles Angels.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Pretty good guess.
- 25:12Speaker 1: You're up 1-0, Scott.
- 25:14Speaker 2: All right, Kim, here we go. The New York Rangers
- 25:16Speaker 2: played their first game of the season last night against
- 25:18Speaker 2: what team? A, Boston Bruins, B, New Jersey Devils, or C,
- 25:23Speaker 2: New York Islanders?
- 25:26Speaker 1: We're going to go with A.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Yes. The Bruins. Thank you. Wow.
- 25:30Speaker 1: Rangers are playing like Boston.
- 25:32Speaker 2: Yes. The Yankees are beating Boston.
- 25:35Speaker 1: Okay. One to one, guys. Scott, which singer-songwriter just announced
- 25:41Speaker 1: a 2027 Las Vegas residency at Sphere where they're going
- 25:45Speaker 1: to perform six shows featuring solo, full band, and trio sets?
- 25:50Speaker 1: Is it A, John Mayer, B, Harry Styles, or C,
- 25:54Speaker 1: John Legend? That one I know, John Mayer. John Mayer.
- 25:58Speaker 1: We got two for Scott.
- 26:00Speaker 2: All right, Kim, we'll get this one. Anne Hathaway was
- 26:03Speaker 2: advised by her doctor not to appear on what popular
- 26:06Speaker 2: show because she's pregnant? A, Last Meals, B, Hot Ones, C,
- 26:11Speaker 2: Hiking with Kevin. Oh, man. We'll try B. B, Hot
- 26:17Speaker 2: Ones is correct.
- 26:20Speaker 1: Got a good game here.
- 26:20Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 26:22Speaker 1: I feel a tiebreaker coming.
- 26:23Speaker 2: All right, let's see.
- 26:24Speaker 1: But maybe I'm wrong. It's 2-2 though right now. Scott,
- 26:27Speaker 1: what color is the sunset on Mars? If you're on
- 26:30Speaker 1: Mars and the sun is setting, you're going to see A, red, B, blue,
- 26:34Speaker 1: or C, brown? Red, blue. No, I get blue.
- 26:43Speaker 3: Wow.
- 26:44Speaker 1: The guesses are working out.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, they are.
- 26:46Speaker 1: You are correct. It is blue. So, Kim, for the
- 26:48Speaker 1: tie now.
- 26:49Speaker 2: Yes, Kim, let's get this one. What planet is closest
- 26:52Speaker 2: in size to Earth? A, Neptune, B, Venus, C, Jupiter. B. Yes,
- 27:00Speaker 2: Venus it is. We have ourselves a tie. Our champions
- 27:04Speaker 2: are just too good.
- 27:05Speaker 1: They are.
- 27:06Speaker 2: Yes.
- 27:06Speaker 1: So, let's have Kristen pick a number between 1 and 250. Okay.
- 27:12Speaker 1: And whoever's closest is going to win. We don't know
- 27:14Speaker 1: what she's writing down, but Christine will make the announcement
- 27:17Speaker 1: for Kristen in just a second. Scott, give us a
- 27:20Speaker 1: number between 1 and 250. 120. 120. How about you, Kim? Okay,
- 27:27Speaker 1: we're going to go with 121.
- 27:30Speaker 2: Kim's pulling a Price is Right, and Kristen's number is 200,
- 27:35Speaker 2: which makes Kim the winner. Congratulations. Congratulations, Kim. And Scott,
- 27:42Speaker 2: thank you. And you do know you can play again anytime.
- 27:44Speaker 1: Thank you so much. Congratulations, Kim.
- 27:47Speaker 2: Thank you. Thank you so much, Kim. Congrats. You're going
- 27:50Speaker 2: to see In the Heights at New York City Center.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Cool. That's awesome.
- 27:54Speaker 2: Thank you so much.
- 27:55Speaker 3: More Cubby and Christine and the great music variety you
- 27:58Speaker 3: expect next on Light FM.
- 28:00Speaker 2: 106.7 Light FM with Cubby and Christine in the morning and.
- 28:08Speaker 1: Producer Kristen. I had to add Alicia in there.
- 28:11Speaker 2: Alicia is one of her favorite contestants ever. Sorry. I mean,
- 28:15Speaker 2: we shouldn't pick favorites, but she was just.
- 28:17Speaker 1: She was so good-hearted. Yes. And she played last week.
- 28:20Speaker 2: And she didn't win.
- 28:21Speaker 1: And we thought easy questions. Yes. And she got every
- 28:23Speaker 1: question wrong. And I took her reaction and I edited
- 28:26Speaker 1: them all together. And this was her last week, pretty
- 28:28Speaker 1: much in a nutshell.
- 28:29Speaker 2: Yeah.
