- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:04Speaker 1: am six fortys Come and now Handle on the news.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Ladies and gentlemen, here's Bill Handle. Okay, foody Friday, except
- 0:22Speaker 1: without the food.
- 0:24Speaker 2: This morning. It is a Friday morning, May twenty two. Oh,
- 0:28Speaker 2: some fun politics we're going to have today. First a hello,
- 0:32Speaker 2: and then I'm going to get into a couple of
- 0:34Speaker 2: things said before we started Handle on the news, Kono,
- 0:38Speaker 2: good morning, Good morning Bill. Okay, and Amy, Oh, you
- 0:43Speaker 2: got a Star Wars Wars a T shirt?
- 0:45Speaker 3: I do. I'm wearing my Grogu T shirt. Also, yeah,
- 0:51Speaker 3: we went to s Mandalorian and Grogu yesterday afternoon.
- 0:54Speaker 2: How was the movie?
- 0:56Speaker 3: If you're a Star Wars fan, you will absolutely adore
- 0:58Speaker 3: this movie.
- 0:59Speaker 2: Great.
- 1:00Speaker 3: Yeah, traditional Star Wars, not the super high action high
- 1:04Speaker 3: end during Star Wars the original right, and Neil I.
- 1:07Speaker 2: Said, already hello to you?
- 1:09Speaker 4: Yeah, what's up? Dog?
- 1:10Speaker 2: Not much? And then I tell you Will Will walked
- 1:15Speaker 2: into the studio and I just saw him sitting down
- 1:21Speaker 2: and Will, I tell you that sure you're wearing is
- 1:25Speaker 2: not particularly slimming. I love that you're like mister Blackwell, yeah,
- 1:31Speaker 2: yeah you could. I'm vertical stripes. I think it works
- 1:35Speaker 2: for you. Yeah, vertical stripes instead of horizontal stripes.
- 1:39Speaker 3: We need to figure out why you're obsessed with will
- 1:42Speaker 3: this way, you know.
- 1:44Speaker 5: What, he's obsessed with anyone's weight since he lost weight.
- 1:49Speaker 5: Sure before he never talked about it because he was here.
- 1:53Speaker 2: Sure I did. I always talked about being fat always.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Yeah, come on, yes, but you didn't talk about other
- 1:58Speaker 5: people the same way.
- 2:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I guess you always have.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Yeah, no, I always have. You know, when I work out,
- 2:05Speaker 2: I always I make sure that I work out next
- 2:08Speaker 2: to fat people so I feel better. I do. I'll
- 2:12Speaker 2: point to the trainer, I go, no, no, I don't want
- 2:15Speaker 2: to train this machine. I want to go over there.
- 2:18Speaker 2: And so now he just looks around the gym and
- 2:22Speaker 2: figures out who's fat. I'll tell you who. We're very depressing.
- 2:25Speaker 2: Oh there, and I didn't say hello to you, good morning, Anne,
- 2:29Speaker 2: Hi hi. Oh there was excitement there are. What he
- 2:34Speaker 2: tends to do too, is unfortunately putting me next to
- 2:37Speaker 2: hard bodies because we no, there's no room next to
- 2:41Speaker 2: fat people. And it was I sit next to or
- 2:46Speaker 2: I worked out the other day next to a woman
- 2:48Speaker 2: had to be ninety five, and she was doing weights
- 2:52Speaker 2: that were twice mine, and I look at her, I go,
- 2:57Speaker 2: how old are you are? You like one hundred and third?
- 3:01Speaker 2: You're my hero that you could do that. And the
- 3:05Speaker 2: other thing, why is it the women go to the
- 3:06Speaker 2: ball to the gym with these incredibly tight yoga pants.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I mean, I've always wondered why why would they do that?
- 3:17Speaker 2: I don't get it. I don't I don't understand.
- 3:21Speaker 3: Their pants don't get caught in the machines.
- 3:23Speaker 2: Well, I wear shorts that are fairly loose, and mine
- 3:27Speaker 2: don't get caught in the machine.
- 3:29Speaker 4: Not the shorts. Picture Yeah, well yeah.
- 3:33Speaker 2: Loose shorts all right. Anyway, one quick one because today
- 3:37Speaker 2: before we get to the news, one quick one about
- 3:40Speaker 2: ask handle anything. Last weekend, Lindsey got pretty upset with me,
- 3:46Speaker 2: and it had to do with the question that was
- 3:49Speaker 2: asked that I participate with hookers between my marriages. And
- 3:55Speaker 2: I do remember what I said, But Lindsay said, Bill,
- 4:00Speaker 2: you so disappointed me because I was fully expecting to say, yes,
- 4:06Speaker 2: I participated. I ended up marrying one. And she said,
- 4:12Speaker 2: why why didn't you say that?
- 4:15Speaker 4: Yeah, that's hurtful.
- 4:17Speaker 2: Yeah, And I was right, I was. I was ashamed
- 4:20Speaker 2: of myself that I didn't come up with that line.
- 4:22Speaker 2: She's absolutely right.
- 4:24Speaker 5: You need to refer to your new wife as a
- 4:29Speaker 5: prostitute more on the show. I've long felt that.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Well she's no longer, you know, I must tell you.
- 4:38Speaker 4: So she still gets paid?
- 4:40Speaker 2: Yeah, well no she doesn't. She doesn't. Because we're married.
- 4:45Speaker 2: You won't have to worry about it anymore. You know.
- 4:47Speaker 2: That's that's a law. You know that, don't you. That's
- 4:50Speaker 2: a law in the Jewish religion that once you get married,
- 4:54Speaker 2: it's over. I thought I'm saying that, you know, beforehand.
- 5:02Speaker 2: I don't know if I can say it or not beforehand.
- 5:04Speaker 2: Jewish women can suck the chrome off of the Oh,
- 5:08Speaker 2: I can't say that. Oh oh oh, okay, all right,
- 5:12Speaker 2: fair enough, Okay, we won't go there. We will not
- 5:17Speaker 2: Oh a Memorial Day weekend, all right? We are not
- 5:21Speaker 2: working on Monday? Will Are you working on Monday? I
- 5:25Speaker 2: am working on Monday. Oh, good for you. How far
- 5:28Speaker 2: up the food chain are you? And then me and
- 5:31Speaker 2: Kono is working? Who's filling in on Monday? Are you? Neil?
- 5:35Speaker 2: Are you working? Oh?
- 5:36Speaker 4: It's a I believe it's a best of as they
- 5:39Speaker 4: call him.
- 5:40Speaker 2: Oh yeah, that's the other thing. They call them best
- 5:42Speaker 2: of Yeah please. Okay, so there'll be a recording, but
- 5:46Speaker 2: we'll promise to Oh no, we won't promise to be here.
- 5:49Speaker 2: We don't try to fool anybody that we're here now tomorrow.
- 5:53Speaker 2: It's a recorded show, but we're going to pretend that
- 5:56Speaker 2: I'm doing the show. Well, the best for everybody. I
- 6:00Speaker 2: think the best of it is going to be obvious
- 6:02Speaker 2: because it's going to be all of us talking.
- 6:04Speaker 6: Yeah, well, and then Bill intros them by saying I'm
- 6:07Speaker 6: actually not here. So just listen to this and I'll
- 6:10Speaker 6: not hear multiple times.
- 6:14Speaker 2: Yeah, because we want to fool people in the thinking
- 6:17Speaker 2: that I'm here. Okay, guys, are you ready to do it?
- 6:20Speaker 3: Sure?
- 6:21Speaker 2: It is time for handle on the news? Amy neil
- 6:25Speaker 2: Me lead story. Oh man, did the president step into
- 6:30Speaker 2: it on this weaponization bill to give one point eight
- 6:37Speaker 2: billion dollars for victims of government weaponization that's during the
- 6:43Speaker 2: the Biden administration and the Congress. That that's a bridge
- 6:48Speaker 2: too far. I mean, come on that you're talking about
- 6:53Speaker 2: people who rioted. One hundred and fifty police people, policemen
- 6:59Speaker 2: and women were some severely injured. And first of all, well,
- 7:06Speaker 2: you know what, in Trump world, that's legitimate, the one
- 7:10Speaker 2: point eight billion dollars because these all of these rioters
- 7:13Speaker 2: were patriots and being arrested, they were held as hostages,
- 7:19Speaker 2: and they were merely upholding the Constitution, which was being
- 7:22Speaker 2: denied because somehow the police and the billet that was
- 7:28Speaker 2: just police and that got involved in trying to stop
- 7:31Speaker 2: their peaceful demonstration. So the possibility and by the way,
- 7:35Speaker 2: it's not that they would get money, it's that they
- 7:39Speaker 2: could get money, and that Congress just went crazy. The
- 7:43Speaker 2: Republicans just went, Okay, that's too far. We're not going
- 7:46Speaker 2: to do that.
- 7:47Speaker 5: The thought of some guy wearing a buffalo hat becoming rich, yeah.
- 7:53Speaker 2: Yeah, no kidding, and then you have and then also
- 7:57Speaker 2: the bill, this was all part of the border enforcement
- 8:02Speaker 2: bill that was going to be argued and passed by Congress,
- 8:07Speaker 2: by the way, and so the Senate Republican said, no,
- 8:11Speaker 2: you're done, We're not going to do this. And also
- 8:14Speaker 2: they're very upset about the deal that Trump cut with
- 8:17Speaker 2: himself to drop the lawsuit against himself that is against
- 8:22Speaker 2: the irs, and then settling the lawsuit with himself by
- 8:28Speaker 2: dropping his ten billion dollars. But here's what he gets
- 8:32Speaker 2: because here's what was the settlement is all tax returns
- 8:37Speaker 2: prior to this from all members of his family, him
- 8:41Speaker 2: and his organizations will not be oddited, will not be audited.
- 8:45Speaker 2: That's it done. And don't forget this one point eight billion.
- 8:51Speaker 2: And then also the ballroom. Have you noticed that you're
- 8:54Speaker 2: not hearing anymore about the ballroom being paid for donor
- 8:58Speaker 2: by donors. You're not hearing that anymore. Why? Well, because
- 9:02Speaker 2: he wanted a billion dollars to quote security underneath the ballroom.
- 9:07Speaker 2: Billion dollars and the ballrooms just sort of thrown in,
- 9:10Speaker 2: you know, why not a billion dollars? And so, and
- 9:14Speaker 2: then that arch that he plans on putting out bigger
- 9:18Speaker 2: than the Arc, the Triumph. It's gonna be the Arc,
- 9:20Speaker 2: the Trump, the Trump Uff. Okay, it's good. They went crazy.
- 9:25Speaker 2: So it's the first open revolt, I mean, straight out revolt.
- 9:28Speaker 2: And Trump has not back down. He is doubling down.
- 9:33Speaker 2: Todd Blantz yesterday went in front of a Congressional committee.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It was a closed door hearing, and they ripped into him.
- 9:41Speaker 2: Why because he wants the bill passed. Trump wants it.
- 9:44Speaker 2: There's nothing set up. We don't know who's gonna be
- 9:48Speaker 2: on the panel who's going to decide who gets the money,
- 9:50Speaker 2: how it's going to be determined. Just give us one
- 9:53Speaker 2: point eight billion dollars and we'll figure out who gets
- 9:55Speaker 2: the money or not. They said, no, that's not gonna work,
- 9:59Speaker 2: So the immigration bill held up. Okay, one more.
- 10:03Speaker 3: Cause of death. The Democratic National Committee has released its
- 10:08Speaker 3: autopsy report on the twenty twenty four election. It's been
- 10:12Speaker 3: done since like December, but under a lot of pressure
- 10:14Speaker 3: they finally released it. The report claims Democrats did not
- 10:17Speaker 3: provide a strong enough message as to why President Trump
- 10:20Speaker 3: should not have been elected again, also that the Harris
- 10:23Speaker 3: campaign relied too heavily on Trump being unacceptable rather than
- 10:28Speaker 3: making the case for why Harris should be elected, and
- 10:30Speaker 3: also said the Hairs campaign took a lot of voters
- 10:33Speaker 3: for granted. What it did not talk about was Joe Biden.
- 10:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and his age, which was one of the primary reasons.
- 10:40Speaker 2: So there's three main reasons in the takeaway, and we're
- 10:43Speaker 2: going to do this later on, and the three big
- 10:46Speaker 2: reasons are they're Democrats, Joe Biden, Kamala Harris. Okay, thank
- 10:53Speaker 2: you very much, moving on, we're gonna do something else.
- 10:56Speaker 2: So I'm going to break this one down at seven
- 10:59Speaker 2: twenty in the Major Takeaways.
- 11:01Speaker 5: All Right, I'm not up on NASCAR, but what a
- 11:04Speaker 5: sad story. Kyle Busch, I believe is how you pronounce it.
- 11:08Speaker 5: Two time NASCAR Cup Series champion has died at the
- 11:11Speaker 5: age of forty one. This was announced yesterday, of course,
- 11:17Speaker 5: a sad, sad story. The NASCAR referred to him as
- 11:22Speaker 5: one of our sport's greatest and fiercest drivers. He had
- 11:26Speaker 5: been hospitalized with some severe illness, his family said earlier
- 11:30Speaker 5: on Thursday, and was undergoing treatment. They did not disclose
- 11:35Speaker 5: what the illness was, but he passed.
- 11:38Speaker 2: Yeah, big deal. Lindsey was a real car person with
- 11:41Speaker 2: her ex I mean serious car person. She went, oh
- 11:45Speaker 2: my god, I mean she was visibly upset. I had
- 11:48Speaker 2: no idea who Kyle Busch was. I don't watch I
- 11:51Speaker 2: don't watch NASCAR. Huge. It's a huge I have.
- 11:56Speaker 5: Teeth so well, it's a huge sport and it looks
- 12:04Speaker 5: like there's a lot of camaraderie and all of that.
- 12:07Speaker 4: But a sad story forty one years.
- 12:09Speaker 2: Old, Yeah that is sad. A couple of very small ones.
- 12:13Speaker 2: You got the little kids, and yeah, that's tough. I
- 12:16Speaker 2: assume we're going to get the cause of death at
- 12:19Speaker 2: some point. I can't imagine it wouldn't leak, so obviously
- 12:24Speaker 2: he got. They said he did have an illness just beforehand,
- 12:27Speaker 2: so man, it must have gone really quick. Jim Henson,
- 12:31Speaker 2: what was there? Was a flu? That he has a
- 12:33Speaker 2: hamorrhagic flu I think and was dead within hours this one.
- 12:39Speaker 3: I think his family said he was sick for a
- 12:42Speaker 3: couple of weeks or something, but then they he was
- 12:44Speaker 3: found unresponsive and taken to the hospital on Wednesday and
- 12:48Speaker 3: then died yesterday. AI still has free reign. The President
- 12:55Speaker 3: abruptly delayed the signing of a landmark executive order on
- 12:59Speaker 3: a I, telling reporters at the White House that he
- 13:03Speaker 3: pulled the order at the last minute because it could
- 13:05Speaker 3: interfere with American competitiveness on AI. He said, we're leading China,
- 13:10Speaker 3: We're leading everyone, and I don't want to do anything
- 13:13Speaker 3: that's going to get in the way of that lead.
- 13:15Speaker 2: Then why did he let Congress? In fact, no, this
- 13:21Speaker 2: was an executive order, not Congress. But yeah, so I
- 13:24Speaker 2: guess that morning he was going to sign it, and
- 13:27Speaker 2: yesterday morning, and by yesterday afternoon he changed his mind,
- 13:31Speaker 2: which is not bad for Trump because I think he
- 13:34Speaker 2: actually waited five or six hours before he changed his mind.
- 13:40Speaker 3: I'm amazing he's making progress.
- 13:43Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I would say he's making progress. Do you
- 13:47Speaker 2: think Mr. Mercurial is a word that I would use.
- 13:53Speaker 4: Barely?
- 13:55Speaker 5: The Sandy fire burning over in the Sewee Valley area,
- 13:59Speaker 5: if that wasn't bad enough. It is near a partial
- 14:05Speaker 5: nuclear meltdown once took place. That is the Santa Susana
- 14:10Speaker 5: Field Laboratory. So it's this almost three thousand acre laboratory
- 14:15Speaker 5: complex used to be used for rocket engine testing and
- 14:20Speaker 5: nuclear research. It's currently undergoing a state led environmental cleanup
- 14:26Speaker 5: and that's part of the burn. So obviously the concern is,
- 14:32Speaker 5: you know, it's burning.
- 14:34Speaker 3: It has not entered the property. It's just burning close.
- 14:38Speaker 4: It's knocking on the door. That's close enough for me.
- 14:40Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah. And it turned out that I think that
- 14:44Speaker 2: really started when a few researchers in the evening came
- 14:49Speaker 2: to a meeting and they had glowing scroats. So it
- 14:53Speaker 2: will do it. Yeah, that'll do it. That nuclear stuff
- 14:57Speaker 2: is just yeah, no night lights on that house held. Yeah,
- 15:04Speaker 2: all right, Moving.
- 15:06Speaker 3: On World Cup on ice Mark Wayne Mullen, the DHS secretary,
- 15:12Speaker 3: has announced that Immigration and Customers enforcement officers will be,
- 15:16Speaker 3: as he put it, out there every day during the
- 15:18Speaker 3: FIFA World Cup. He said that ICE and Homeland Security
- 15:24Speaker 3: are going to be out there every day fighting against
- 15:26Speaker 3: the counterfeit tickets, human drug trafficking or human trafficking, drug smuggling,
- 15:31Speaker 3: and counterfeit products. He says, World Cup is you know,
- 15:35Speaker 3: it's a place where bad things happen, and they're going
- 15:38Speaker 3: to be looking for him.
- 15:40Speaker 2: How many Hispanic soccer players you think are going to
- 15:43Speaker 2: be picked up and deported?
- 15:45Speaker 3: None? Either just pull them off the field and take
- 15:52Speaker 3: them off away, just.
- 15:53Speaker 2: Say you're done. ICE just literally picks them out and
- 15:56Speaker 2: pulls them off the field. It's a it's all. It
- 16:01Speaker 2: is so entertaining all of this, and if ICE is
- 16:05Speaker 2: there obviously limited to do those that job. I don't
- 16:12Speaker 2: think anybody has a problem with that, all right.
- 16:17Speaker 4: So it's a good but small start, if you ask me.
- 16:21Speaker 5: In the Los Angeles City Council, in a twelve to
- 16:24Speaker 5: one approval, Bass's spending plan to get fifteen billion dollar
- 16:30Speaker 5: budget for twenty twenty six twenty twenty seven, preserving her
- 16:35Speaker 5: police hiring plan well, stocking away some money for potential emergencies.
- 16:41Speaker 5: She's going to hire five hundred and ten Los Angeles
- 16:45Speaker 5: PD officers. Great, but you know we're that'll put us
- 16:52Speaker 5: a what about eight and a half thousand officers.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Yeah, it's about fifteen hundred short of it should be
- 17:00Speaker 2: about ten thousand.
- 17:02Speaker 4: Yeah, should be that.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Is that That is the magic number and that's the
- 17:06Speaker 2: sweet spot.
- 17:07Speaker 5: And Tracy Park was the loan opposing boat say saying
- 17:11Speaker 5: that the budget short changes the fire department.
- 17:16Speaker 7: She kind of went off, Yeah, and what Bass said
- 17:21Speaker 7: on this one, Okay, we'll pass the budget and then
- 17:24Speaker 7: we'll talk about the firefighter supplement and how we're going
- 17:29Speaker 7: to deal with the budget for firefighters.
- 17:32Speaker 2: And it's predicated on a November proposition or a November
- 17:38Speaker 2: I guess what ordinance that's being put on the ballot
- 17:41Speaker 2: in Los Angeles for another half cent sales tax increase
- 17:47Speaker 2: to pay for firefighting. So you know, we'll see. And
- 17:50Speaker 2: then one of the things about Los Angeles, anybody in
- 17:53Speaker 2: southern California, they've never met a tax they they didn't like.
- 17:58Speaker 2: Now we tax ourselves into oblivion, and we've taxed ourselves
- 18:01Speaker 2: into the most expensive state in the United States.
- 18:07Speaker 3: The LA School District is seeing pink. More than a
- 18:11Speaker 3: thousand workers in the district are expected to lose their jobs.
- 18:15Speaker 3: The Board of Education approved the layoffs yesterday, and district
- 18:20Speaker 3: management quietly went around terminating employment of workers that don't
- 18:23Speaker 3: have tenure or other union job protections. LA Unified also
- 18:28Speaker 3: got a first look at an updated fiscal stability plan
- 18:31Speaker 3: that calls for cuts totally more than three point six
- 18:33Speaker 3: billion dollars over the next three years.
- 18:35Speaker 2: Yeah, as far as the union is concerned, and they,
- 18:38Speaker 2: you know, legitimately don't want to lose employees. I mean,
- 18:42Speaker 2: they're represent employees in One of the issues is they
- 18:47Speaker 2: fight cutbacks in reductions like crazy. But how do you
- 18:50Speaker 2: argue with we have fewer schools because we have fewer students,
- 18:56Speaker 2: and which you like to remain employed, which like teachers,
- 19:01Speaker 2: and then have no place to go because there are
- 19:03Speaker 2: not enough classroom, not enough kids, and they're shutting down
- 19:08Speaker 2: right now. According to this story out of the La Times,
- 19:11Speaker 2: three hundred and ninety thousand students are part of LA Unified,
- 19:16Speaker 2: about half of the number as in the early two thousands.
- 19:21Speaker 2: I'm surprised it's only that number that is that's being
- 19:26Speaker 2: let go.
- 19:26Speaker 5: All right, Well, by now we all know the very
- 19:29Speaker 5: sad story about the Camp Mystic flooding that took the
- 19:35Speaker 5: lives of twenty five girls, two teenage counselors, and just
- 19:40Speaker 5: a sad story. Well, now we're hearing some fallout from it.
- 19:48Speaker 5: Texas Board has suspended the nursing license of Camp Mystic's
- 19:53Speaker 5: co director, scathing order that accused her of not helping
- 19:57Speaker 5: children evacuate during last year's drop floods. And so this
- 20:03Speaker 5: is one of the first major actions against a member
- 20:06Speaker 5: of the family that owns and operates the All Girls
- 20:09Speaker 5: Christian campsite and the July fourth flood there. So Mary
- 20:15Speaker 5: Liz east Lynn, she was a registered nurse. She served
- 20:20Speaker 5: as the camp's medical officer. She had previously acknowledged in
- 20:23Speaker 5: court that she never tried to reach the children and
- 20:27Speaker 5: staff in that area, and so they took away her
- 20:33Speaker 5: nursing license. Her father in law, a Camp Mystic owner,
- 20:37Speaker 5: Richard Eastlynn, also died in the flood.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Yeah, now this is a slap in the wrist where
- 20:43Speaker 2: it misses the wrist. You would think that based on
- 20:48Speaker 2: these facts that she would be criminally charged. Also, the
- 20:53Speaker 2: Camp Mystic was supposed to open up this summer again
- 20:58Speaker 2: and they yanked the license. Well, not long it took
- 21:02Speaker 2: for Texas to deal with this. Twenty seven kids died.
- 21:07Speaker 2: And this is beyond negligence on the part of the
- 21:12Speaker 2: camp counselors in the way where the camp was built,
- 21:16Speaker 2: built right there in the flood zone of the Guadalupe River.
- 21:19Speaker 2: I mean it was fact after fact, incident after incident,
- 21:24Speaker 2: negligence after negligence. I mean this should go a lot further. Ooh,
- 21:30Speaker 2: daylight savings Time.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Amy, Yeah, we're sick of the switch. Daylight Saving Time
- 21:35Speaker 3: would stay in effect year round under a US House proposal.
- 21:40Speaker 3: The House Energy and Commerce Committee voted forty eight one
- 21:42Speaker 3: yesterday in favor of the Sunshine Protection Act. It would
- 21:46Speaker 3: be implemented into a five year transportation bill if it passes,
- 21:51Speaker 3: so it has to go to the House, and President
- 21:54Speaker 3: Trump praised the vote. He supports it, but apparently when
- 21:58Speaker 3: it gets to the Senate, it's going to face opposition
- 22:00Speaker 3: from Republican Tom Cotton and others.
- 22:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and why why are they opposed to it?
- 22:08Speaker 3: Cotton said it would make late winter sunrises and forced
- 22:13Speaker 3: kids to go to school in the dark.
- 22:16Speaker 2: Disappoint to that I'm just thinking, what state does the
- 22:20Speaker 2: line between Central and Pacific time separate? I think it's
- 22:26Speaker 2: down literally down the middle of a state where people
- 22:29Speaker 2: living across the street from each other are on one
- 22:33Speaker 2: time zone and then the other one is on another, except.
- 22:36Speaker 3: There's a Mountain time in between there, right, Pacific and
- 22:40Speaker 3: then Mountain, then Central than Eastern.
- 22:43Speaker 2: Well, there's only three hours difference between Pacific and Eastern,
- 22:49Speaker 2: so I don't know whether Mountain time is synonymous with
- 22:53Speaker 2: Central time.
- 22:55Speaker 5: And then pay attention, and then you get Arizona doesn't
- 23:00Speaker 5: switch over, so sometimes there're an hour off from US,
- 23:03Speaker 5: I think, and sometimes not.
- 23:05Speaker 3: He doesn't do it either.
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Yeah, it's truly nuts in terms of the way we work.
- 23:10Speaker 2: So the entire country should be on one time zone.
- 23:14Speaker 2: How many time zones there are in Russia? I think
- 23:18Speaker 2: they have nine time zones in Russia. If I'm not mistaken.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Amy's looking it up because she wants me to be wrong.
- 23:25Speaker 3: No, I want to support your rightness.
- 23:27Speaker 2: Okay, and Watcher is gonna even if it's right, you're
- 23:29Speaker 2: gonna go. Bill. I don't think you're right, Okay, do doo, dude,
- 23:34Speaker 2: we're waiting Bill.
- 23:36Speaker 3: You know how we say Ai is wrong a lot
- 23:39Speaker 3: AI is saying it's eleven time zones.
- 23:41Speaker 2: See there you go, see there you go. But okay,
- 23:44Speaker 2: so let's let's compromise. We'll say ten time zone.
- 23:48Speaker 3: Okay.
- 23:48Speaker 4: Wow, but that is a negotiator.
- 23:51Speaker 2: Yes, that's kind of crazy, all right.
- 23:54Speaker 5: Billionaire Mark Cuban, uh, very outspoken against President and Trump
- 24:01Speaker 5: also was you know, on the line with Kamala Harris
- 24:06Speaker 5: and very much against Trump. Well now he stood on
- 24:11Speaker 5: the White House stage Monday alongside Trump for a great cause,
- 24:19Speaker 5: the rolling out of Trump RX dot g O V.
- 24:22Speaker 5: So some people may want to take shots at him personally,
- 24:26Speaker 5: I think to put your politics aside for such a
- 24:29Speaker 5: great cause as actually pretty noble. So he stood there,
- 24:33Speaker 5: You've got good RX, You've got Amazon, Mark Cuban's Cost
- 24:38Speaker 5: Plus Drugs and partnering together so they'll be business partners
- 24:43Speaker 5: in a venture that will actually help many Americans get
- 24:48Speaker 5: better pricing on pharmaceuticals.
- 24:52Speaker 2: And of course Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drugs is going
- 24:54Speaker 2: to be the Donald J. Trump and Mark Cuban plus
- 24:59Speaker 2: Cost drug You know, even though I'm accused a lot
- 25:06Speaker 2: of nailing Trump, I'd like to know at what point
- 25:11Speaker 2: I'm wrong on this one.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Bad veins have given a really bad guy another year
- 25:17Speaker 3: on Earth. Tennessee called off the execution of a death
- 25:21Speaker 3: row inmate who's been convicted of three murders. Why because
- 25:27Speaker 3: his executioners couldn't insert a backup intravenious line. The governor
- 25:33Speaker 3: granted him a one year reprieve, so they put the
- 25:36Speaker 3: IV in for the execution, but they couldn't find another
- 25:40Speaker 3: suitable vein to put in a backup line. Apparently they
- 25:43Speaker 3: tried for about an hour before they called the whole
- 25:45Speaker 3: thing off. Of course, deathmate in our death row inmates
- 25:49Speaker 3: aren't guaranteed a pain free death, but the US Constitution
- 25:52Speaker 3: manitates that their executions be free of cruel and unusual punishment.
- 25:57Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the Eighth Amendment, no cruel and unusual.
- 26:00Speaker 4: But who decides what the court does?
- 26:03Speaker 2: The court does? In the end, the court does. It
- 26:07Speaker 2: would end up with the Supreme Court. Now a lot
- 26:10Speaker 2: of states, having had this problem are bailing on the
- 26:15Speaker 2: execution on the lethal injection. I think Utah is going
- 26:19Speaker 2: back to the firing squad and now you're not going
- 26:22Speaker 2: to say where ten people or five people at fifteen
- 26:27Speaker 2: feet away with longa and saying, oops, all five of
- 26:31Speaker 2: us missed. You're not going to hear that problem. And
- 26:34Speaker 2: the hanging I think is also allowed. Now if an
- 26:38Speaker 2: inmate does not choose any way to die, then I
- 26:41Speaker 2: think it defaults to the leathless execution. In the first
- 26:47Speaker 2: lethal execution in California, I went to a witness and
- 26:52Speaker 2: I really enjoyed it. It was one of the best days
- 26:54Speaker 2: of my life seeing someone execute it. Loved every manute
- 26:58Speaker 2: of it. Yeah, odd bird, all right.
- 27:02Speaker 5: PepsiCo, the company behind snack and beverage brands including you know,
- 27:07Speaker 5: Pepsi obviously, but lays, Rito's, Gatorade, Quaker Oats. They said
- 27:14Speaker 5: that they're raising prices on some of their smaller chip bags.
- 27:18Speaker 5: And this is what weeks now after executives touted the
- 27:22Speaker 5: success of earlier price cuts aimed at winning back cost
- 27:26Speaker 5: conscious shoppers. So it's like willing you with one, and
- 27:30Speaker 5: then you know, yeah, you know the usual corporate speak.
- 27:37Speaker 2: The official line is we are investing in value. Yeah,
- 27:44Speaker 2: value of Pexico.
- 27:45Speaker 4: No company is gonna lose money. They just aren't.
- 27:48Speaker 2: So, no, they do lose money, but they try not to.
- 27:53Speaker 5: Yeah, they're just gonna keep pricing us to death. And
- 27:56Speaker 5: then they're gonna find their ceiling.
- 27:59Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're gonna tell us that they're not pricing
- 28:01Speaker 2: as to death. Gas prices are going down. H really
- 28:08Speaker 2: ooh Target, This is great piece of news because I
- 28:11Speaker 2: shop at Target occasionally.
- 28:13Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 28:13Speaker 3: You know, Target's been losing money. So here's how they're
- 28:15Speaker 3: going to draw get shoppers to come back. They're putting
- 28:17Speaker 3: out new carts. They're redesigning their shopping carts. They are
- 28:22Speaker 3: effortlessly functional, made to last, and redesigned with a lower
- 28:26Speaker 3: environmental footprint in mind. The carts will have smoother maneuverability
- 28:31Speaker 3: and ergonomic handles, a deeper, more comfortable, secure child seat,
- 28:36Speaker 3: increased basket space, and larger cup holders.
- 28:40Speaker 2: I already think they have the best carts in the industry,
- 28:44Speaker 2: So to.
- 28:44Speaker 4: All the homeless people in Los Angeles, Yes, that's true.
- 28:47Speaker 2: But they're very thick plastic to begin with, and they
- 28:53Speaker 2: roll pretty smoothly. They're not the kind that supermarkets have
- 28:57Speaker 2: that are designed to go left or right as you
- 29:01Speaker 2: roll them forward. These actually work. Now they're going to work.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Yeah, but how about concentrating on the experience at Target,
- 29:10Speaker 5: which has gone downhill? Used to be a wonderful shopping
- 29:13Speaker 5: experience lots of choices, and it's just not as we
- 29:18Speaker 5: used to.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Do Target Sundays. My girlfriends and I we'd all go like, Hey,
- 29:22Speaker 3: what are we doing today, Let's go to Target, kind
- 29:24Speaker 3: of like Bill goes to Costco. We used to do
- 29:25Speaker 3: that at Target.
- 29:26Speaker 5: Wow, you live in exciting one, I know, right, Me
- 29:30Speaker 5: and my girls, we'd put our cats away and we'd
- 29:34Speaker 5: go I.
- 29:35Speaker 3: Was the only one who had cats and I had
- 29:36Speaker 3: a dog at the time.
- 29:38Speaker 2: Okay, we're done, guys. That is it for at least
- 29:42Speaker 2: the news part of the Friday Show coming up the
- 29:46Speaker 2: big story yesterday, and it's being touted as this may
- 29:51Speaker 2: be the disintegration, which is not the case of the
- 29:54Speaker 2: Republican Party at least in terms of the legislators. But man,
- 30:00Speaker 2: this one took the president for a loop. And I'll
- 30:04Speaker 2: share that with you when we come back. This is
- 30:06Speaker 2: KFI AM six point forty. You've been listening to the
- 30:10Speaker 2: Bill Handle Show. Catch My show Monday through Friday six
- 30:13Speaker 2: am to nine am, and anytime on demand on the
- 30:16Speaker 2: iHeartRadio app.
