- 0:01Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, folks, well it's
- 0:07Speaker 1: Alex Garrett. It's election night, and.
- 0:10Speaker 2: I won't be doing a continual stream.
- 0:12Speaker 1: I'll just be dropping a few different things here and there,
- 0:15Speaker 1: because this is a historical night. And in sixteen I
- 0:18Speaker 1: didn't really have this podcast blooming yet, twenty twenty was pandemic.
- 0:23Speaker 1: And then of course now now with a little more attraction,
- 0:27Speaker 1: a little more footing, a little more of a one
- 0:29Speaker 1: leg up in the podcast world, I wanted to do
- 0:33Speaker 1: some breakdowns of what's going on as we get to
- 0:36Speaker 1: the polls closing at nine PM. The first big question
- 0:40Speaker 1: today going into today was how many counties and how
- 0:44Speaker 1: many things will be delayed going into to tonight once
- 0:48Speaker 1: the poll's officially closed. Well, once you know it, the
- 0:52Speaker 1: New York Posts and others are reporting. The first big
- 0:55Speaker 1: county to have a problem today has been deep read
- 0:59Speaker 1: Cambria County to Pennsylvania.
- 1:01Speaker 2: Forget this.
- 1:02Speaker 1: There are one hundred and thirty three thousand people voted well,
- 1:07Speaker 1: officials had to hand count many thousands of those votes
- 1:11Speaker 1: by hand in the critical state of swing state Pennsylvania.
- 1:16Speaker 2: Let me say that again.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Problems at the ballot box forcing officials to hand count
- 1:24Speaker 1: many thousands of votes by hand in this critical election,
- 1:31Speaker 1: and that has now delayed officials and Commissioner Keith Rager
- 1:36Speaker 1: has told the Post delayed voting and delayed poll results
- 1:42Speaker 1: in the county of one hundred thirty three thousand. So
- 1:46Speaker 1: there's our first delay of the year. The election year.
- 1:51Speaker 2: Deep red Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
- 1:54Speaker 1: And again William Penn printing is to blame, and a
- 1:59Speaker 1: judge is also a red to keep the polls open
- 2:01Speaker 1: an extra two hours in this county until ten pm
- 2:05Speaker 1: to make.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Up for the problems.
- 2:06Speaker 1: So if you're listening in the County of Cambria in Pennsylvania,
- 2:12Speaker 1: please go right now now. The commissioners said, thousands of
- 2:18Speaker 1: freshly printed ballots which do work in the voting machines,
- 2:21Speaker 1: were printed and rushed from Pittsburgh, seventy miles away from
- 2:26Speaker 1: Cambria County to pulling sides across the county. And this
- 2:36Speaker 1: has nothing to do with Shenanigans. But I feel like
- 2:41Speaker 1: every election cycle, every four years, we have these problems
- 2:44Speaker 1: where delays are going on, intentional or not.
- 2:47Speaker 2: It's unacceptable to keep election.
- 2:52Speaker 1: Integrity, you should keep a pretty good track of the
- 2:57Speaker 1: quote unquote good.
- 2:58Speaker 2: Ballots and.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Make it so that no delays or the least amount
- 3:06Speaker 1: of delay is possible. But a lot of hand counting
- 3:14Speaker 1: already in Deep Brigg Cambria County. Now, I know people
- 3:18Speaker 1: are gonna highlight that because oh, it's a Trump county
- 3:21Speaker 1: and they're maybe rigging the election there. I don't know.
- 3:26Speaker 1: I just know that it feels a bit like a
- 3:30Speaker 1: Shenanigan of election integrity. And I know I just had
- 3:36Speaker 1: a second ago I didn't feel like that. But at
- 3:37Speaker 1: the end of the day, this does feel wrong, and
- 3:44Speaker 1: I'm glad the commissioner's doing his best to alleviate this,
- 3:47Speaker 1: and then a judge is actually saying no, keep the
- 3:49Speaker 1: poles open. But in a day that where delays are
- 3:53Speaker 1: being watched, where polls are being watched very closely, I
- 3:56Speaker 1: told you eighty six counties are being monitored by the DOJ.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Boom. This just happened the whole day.
- 4:07Speaker 1: And before we get to whether this is you know,
- 4:15Speaker 1: legitimate or not the votes, let's just see how it
- 4:18Speaker 1: plays out in the county of in the Pennsylvania County
- 4:22Speaker 1: of Cambria.
- 4:25Speaker 2: Before we jump to conclusions.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Just it feels it could have been unavoidable, and that's
- 4:35Speaker 1: why I'm a little unnerved, and we don't want any
- 4:38Speaker 1: more delays than we're gonna have. I mean, I saw
- 4:40Speaker 1: the Wall Street Journal today reporting on this little factoid
- 4:46Speaker 1: Georgia and now extending time at full a few polling
- 4:49Speaker 1: stations after fake threats were made to them. So we've
- 4:55Speaker 1: got threats made against these counties and these poll workers.
- 5:01Speaker 1: So imagine combating that while trying to figure out if
- 5:04Speaker 1: this vote got counted or not. I can't imagine the
- 5:09Speaker 1: stress going on at polling places. And then the other
- 5:13Speaker 1: hit today, which I thought was interesting, was right in
- 5:17Speaker 1: our own borough of Queens. Earlier today, the New York
- 5:21Speaker 1: City Board of Elections Rights, we were notified the scanners
- 5:24Speaker 1: in some Queen's poll sites required multiple attempts to scan
- 5:28Speaker 1: a ballots. Technicians were immediately dispatched and corrective measures were undertaken.
- 5:35Speaker 1: We had all two hundred and ninety sites in Queens
- 5:39Speaker 1: inspected voters are voting and have been voting all day.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Votes have not been impacted beyond additional attempts to scan
- 5:47Speaker 1: their ballots or have a place in the emergency bin,
- 5:51Speaker 1: as is protocol.
- 5:54Speaker 2: And of course they had to say that to make.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Sure people knew, hey, if you voted for Trump, were
- 6:00Speaker 1: counting it. That's why the Boa wrote that sentence. Because
- 6:04Speaker 1: I gotta tell you a funny story. Okay, three years
- 6:07Speaker 1: ago in the mayoral election, in my first attempt to
- 6:12Speaker 1: scan for Curtis sliwa it said it was not red
- 6:16Speaker 1: and I'm like, that's a little weird. Well, I scanned
- 6:19Speaker 1: it another time at worked, but it just was odd
- 6:22Speaker 1: that the first time I'm trying to cast my ballot
- 6:25Speaker 1: it did say, oh, this ballot's not recognized, And I.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Thought, is this because I didn't vote for Adams.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Anyway, I want to believe this will be a fair
- 6:34Speaker 1: and integral election. In that election, integrity is in place, but.
- 6:42Speaker 2: These stories do make you question it and make you
- 6:49Speaker 2: question the preparedness.
- 6:52Speaker 1: Maybe some of these counties are dealing with or lack
- 6:56Speaker 1: of preparedness.
- 7:02Speaker 2: But all we want is this to be resolved.
- 7:06Speaker 1: And to be settled, even if it's not by tonight,
- 7:13Speaker 1: at least before the end of the week, because the
- 7:16Speaker 1: more delays happen, the more questions are gonna arise. And
- 7:21Speaker 1: that's what I hoped we'd have learned from four years ago,
- 7:31Speaker 1: and it's what I had hoped we could have even
- 7:36Speaker 1: learned from a hanging chad in two thousand, remember that
- 7:41Speaker 1: whole thing. But I don't remember anybody really questioning the
- 7:46Speaker 1: viability or the integrity of it back in two thousand.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It's just was like, all right, the Supreme Court's got
- 7:55Speaker 2: to vote on it. You know, we'll see what they say.
- 8:01Speaker 1: But the more you think about it, the more these
- 8:05Speaker 1: quote unquote shenanigans have been going on for decades, and
- 8:11Speaker 1: are we right to question them? I think it's right
- 8:15Speaker 1: to hold these polling places accountable and these ballot makers
- 8:19Speaker 1: accountable for unscannable paper. And yes, in a predominantly red county,
- 8:28Speaker 1: you would think a lot of those votes are going
- 8:30Speaker 1: for Trump, and by hand, it's gonna take longer, and
- 8:46Speaker 1: no matter how leaning the voting times are, I mean,
- 8:49Speaker 1: ten pm is great for these situations.
- 8:57Speaker 2: It could be avoided, and it should have been.
- 9:04Speaker 1: For the questioning to die down, because the more delayed
- 9:11Speaker 1: it gets, I think the more eyebrows are gonna get raised.
- 9:14Speaker 1: And that's my first update here on Election Night twenty
- 9:18Speaker 1: twenty four. Stay tuned with me, and when the results
- 9:23Speaker 1: come in, I'll never forget real quick how in twenty twenty.
- 9:30Speaker 1: I think it was Arizona that Fox News had called
- 9:33Speaker 1: for Biden early, and I couldn't believe it, but that
- 9:38Speaker 1: was true. Then you find out Arizona was hanging out
- 9:42Speaker 1: sharpies to voters, and those sharpies I don't think counted
- 9:49Speaker 1: Trump votes.
- 9:52Speaker 2: I mean, it's gotta be to the te this cycle,
- 10:04Speaker 2: and we'll see if it is.
- 10:05Speaker 1: This update number one, we'll talk to you in a
- 10:08Speaker 1: few hours from now on the one that got network
- 10:12Speaker 1: decision twenty twenty four is here. Are you excited or
- 10:18Speaker 1: what
