Transcript
- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: Jacksonville Jaguar's fans, welcome in to Dove All Daily, presented by GenJag.com and fueled by brass tax coffee right now.
- 0:06[SPEAKER_00]: Jaguar's Saints obviously, your Jaguar has had a pretty epic comeback in their preseason opener and the overall results wins and losses in preseason.
- 0:15[SPEAKER_00]: We don't know doesn't really matter all that much.
- 0:18[SPEAKER_00]: You talk about the Jaguar is not winning a single preseason game last year.
- 0:22[SPEAKER_00]: and then obviously winning 13 games in the regular season.
- 0:26[SPEAKER_00]: That's just one example.
- 0:28[SPEAKER_00]: But it does matter, I think, looking at individual performances and things like that.
- 0:36[SPEAKER_00]: And so I think that there were a lot of big winners from the game yesterday individually for the Jacksonville Jack Wars.
- 0:42[SPEAKER_00]: And we're going to kind of go over that today.
- 0:43[SPEAKER_00]: Excited to get into it.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: It was a fun game.
- 0:46[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, really brutal for us to have to watch, but it ended up being a good overall game.
- 0:52[SPEAKER_00]: Um, and I think that there was a lot more good than bad overall.
- 0:56[SPEAKER_00]: The bad does stand out and we will talk about the players who kind of did not help themselves.
- 1:01[SPEAKER_00]: But.
- 1:02[SPEAKER_00]: We're gonna get into the big winners.
- 1:04[SPEAKER_00]: There are a couple players I wanted to highlight that I felt like showed promise as well, even if they weren't big winners and we'll just go over those ones quickly.
- 1:13[SPEAKER_00]: Here at the beginning, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
- 1:16[SPEAKER_00]: If you enjoy the content, please like and subscribe, you can also hit that high button.
- 1:19[SPEAKER_00]: So, players that showed promise, Carter Bradley had several mistakes where like,
- 1:25[SPEAKER_00]: through an interception that shouldn't have been thrown almost through another interception, probably a turnover worthy play, but he showed grit, he showed some ability to really zip the ball down the field.
- 1:36[SPEAKER_00]: He also showed the ability to execute, you know, picking up first downs in short yarded situations.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: So I was impressed by that overall, and just as athletic ability, and would have had another touchdown, but not for a drop from Trevor Pena, who was also on the list here, and Trevor Pena, he would have been a big winner, had he not dropped what would have been a touchdown pass.
- 1:57[SPEAKER_00]: Should have been an easy completion or easy, fairly easy catch.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: It was a little bit congested, but the ball hit him right in the hands, right in stride, and Pena should have caught that.
- 2:06[SPEAKER_00]: But outside of that, Pena did a lot of good things, including catching,
- 2:10[SPEAKER_00]: 43 yard bomb late in the game to kind of make up for that.
- 2:13[SPEAKER_00]: That was one of the stories of the game in my opinion.
- 2:15[SPEAKER_00]: Guys bouncing back from having mistakes.
- 2:18[SPEAKER_00]: So yeah, Bradley paying you both showed promise.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: CJ William showed promise.
- 2:22[SPEAKER_00]: He would have been a big winner from this one.
- 2:24[SPEAKER_00]: Had he not dropped what would have been an easy completion as well.
- 2:29[SPEAKER_00]: Jabarmu Hammid, he had plenty of ups and downs, played, I think, like the whole game pretty much at corner for the Jack Wars, and, you know, he missed a tackle on the first drive, had a couple passing her parents as called on him, but he was there, he was competing, he made plays,
- 2:45[SPEAKER_00]: And you know, right after getting called for PI on the final drive by the Saints, he then goes and makes the game winning pass break up as Liam Cohen's trying to call a timeout.
- 2:55[SPEAKER_00]: One on one played physical in the end zone and got the pass break up.
- 2:59[SPEAKER_00]: So I think to Barman Muhammad did show promise, he wasn't a big winner, but was very competitive, was in there on a lot of run plays after missing the initial tackle that he missed.
- 3:09[SPEAKER_00]: And just showed a lot of competitiveness, toughness and grit.
- 3:13[SPEAKER_00]: I'm jallining to Vi, I thought showed a lot of promise.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_00]: Out of all the players, the Jaguars have signed recently, due to injuries and different things going on.
- 3:21[SPEAKER_00]: I think to Vi is the most experienced, but also had the best performance.
- 3:25[SPEAKER_00]: Now, I do think there was one completion late in the game where to Vi kind of got out of position and kind of allowed the window to open up.
- 3:34[SPEAKER_00]: But outside of that, I thought coming downhill and playing against the run and
- 3:38[SPEAKER_00]: and even, you know, trying to get in there as a blitzer a little bit, I thought to buy, showed plenty of promise as somebody that could potentially stick around here, maybe kind of like a matte digger-scent type situation from last year, Quentin Moore's type situation, where starts out on the practice squad, potentially, and then ends up
- 3:56[SPEAKER_00]: You know, having to get caught up and playing well for them.
- 3:59[SPEAKER_00]: Cameron on Soman Craig, he made a couple plays that I thought were really impressive.
- 4:03[SPEAKER_00]: The Jaguars, like him, he was an undrived fridge in the last year, and the safety, he just kind of flew around.
- 4:09[SPEAKER_00]: I thought a lot of the safety's played very well.
- 4:11[SPEAKER_00]: But Cameron on Soman Craig stood out a little bit to me.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_00]: Devon Marshall was not perfect out there, but another player who, you know, I thought played very competitive, made some good plays in coverage, and definitely showed some promise.
- 4:26[SPEAKER_00]: Those are just the showed promise guys.
- 4:28[SPEAKER_00]: The big winners we can get into right now we'll get it kicked off with BJ Green who I thought was just an absolute catalyst for the Jack Wars up front.
- 4:38[SPEAKER_00]: They had a difficult time blocking him.
- 4:40[SPEAKER_00]: They double teamed him at times.
- 4:42[SPEAKER_00]: He got in the backfield of time.
- 4:43[SPEAKER_00]: He played the run tough.
- 4:45[SPEAKER_00]: He showed explosiveness.
- 4:46[SPEAKER_00]: I felt like he was the leader of the Jack Wars defense for a lot of that football game while he was out there.
- 4:53[SPEAKER_00]: And this
- 4:55[SPEAKER_00]: showed a lot last year during training camp and then when he got his limited opportunities during the regular season a little bit showed out and he's just carried that work ethic that drive that motor he's explosive but he's a little bit shorter and stature so he's able to get like some natural leverage going and I think he's just working really hard and making a ton of plays recovered a fumble was involved in multiple sacks in this game pressures
- 5:24[SPEAKER_00]: Absolutely an excellent job.
- 5:26[SPEAKER_00]: Ruka Warro, I thought did a really good job.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_00]: You've seen some comments like, why was he playing so much?
- 5:31[SPEAKER_00]: Well, he's a new player in this system.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: He's a young player.
- 5:35[SPEAKER_00]: People were asking why is he out there?
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Why isn't Matt Dickerson out there?
- 5:38[SPEAKER_00]: To me, Matt Dickerson is a player who's been here long enough and shown enough to this organization.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_00]: They don't feel like they need to get him the work, need to get him the reps, to get him ready for the regular season, whereas Rook, they want to get him more reps, more live reps.
- 5:53[SPEAKER_00]: in the system and I thought Rook did a really good job.
- 5:56[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he made plays against the run, he made plays in the backfield as a pass rusher, he was able to win one on one, he was able to shoot a gap on a third and one to really disrupt the play and blow it up in the backfield toward they couldn't get the first down.
- 6:10[SPEAKER_00]: I was very impressed by Rook or Raro.
- 6:13[SPEAKER_00]: I was also very impressed by Wesley Williams.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he wasn't super flashy.
- 6:18[SPEAKER_00]: As a pass rusher, although he did make some plays in the pass rusher department, but physical, he played down the line, he was able to, you know, make some plays in the backfield, contribute pressure and, you know, just have a very solid performance.
- 6:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, as a good first showing for Wesley Williams for sure.
- 6:39[SPEAKER_00]: And then.
- 6:41[SPEAKER_00]: the, uh, safety rookie, Jalen Husky.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: First play of the game.
- 6:46[SPEAKER_00]: Special teams was not a good play for the Jaguars, but he made a touchdown saving tackle by just hustling his butt off to get to the ball carrier.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: No one else was going to get to him.
- 6:57[SPEAKER_00]: He was going to score a touchdown.
- 6:59[SPEAKER_00]: Jalen Husky comes flying in to make the play, so special teams stand out there, and then he was flying all over the field on defense.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, had a great pass break up where he ripped it out, almost kind of, almost intercepted, I think.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: But ripped it out as the, the past culture was going to the ground,
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: made a ton of tackles flying around and just looking the part of the player that you thought you were drafting at a Maryland, someone who is going to compete his tail off, he's going to run really fast and attack the ball.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he did that a lot.
- 7:32[SPEAKER_00]: So I was very impressed by Jalen Husky as well.
- 7:36[SPEAKER_00]: And you know yesterday, the Jaguars, they were one and a half point road underdogs.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_00]: They took care of business, I took the jaguars in this one over at my bookie, hopefully he did too.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also looking ahead though, kind of at some regular season stuff here.
- 7:50[SPEAKER_00]: Trevor Lawrence, his over under for passing yards is 3,775 and a half.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_00]: He's hit that throughout the last four years and the only reason he didn't in 2024 is because he only played 10 games.
- 8:02[SPEAKER_00]: So I really liked that one over at my bookie, the over on that.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: And you can find all the action you want at my bookie on desktop or mobile.

- 8:36[SPEAKER_00]: So, getting into the rest of the standout performers here, Jemari Taylor, he was just a fighter.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, he had some plays where he got hit in the back field.
- 8:46[SPEAKER_00]: He had plays where I thought he showed some good vision in patients and made some people miss.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_00]: He finished runs.
- 8:51[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to capitalize on a big touchdown run late in the game.
- 8:54[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to convert a 2.1 conversion.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: I was very impressed by Jemari Taylor.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_00]: Josh Cameron.
- 9:02[SPEAKER_00]: He didn't have a ton of work on offense, but he was able to make it not a contested grab, but a tight window grab, make it made it look easy, and then broke a tackle immediately, which was really cool.
- 9:15[SPEAKER_00]: And then he also got his first special teams action as a returner, forced him as tackle there.
- 9:21[SPEAKER_00]: It wasn't totally perfect on there.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_00]: There was one punt where he definitely shouldn't have fair caught it.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_00]: He had plenty of room to work, but
- 9:28[SPEAKER_00]: Overall, I thought Josh Cameron acquitted himself very well, so did CJ Williams, but CJ Williams had the drop you don't want to see I thought you're Sierra duela He first stood out to me on my first watch special teams wise making some plays there Getting down the field and covering kicks, but then defensively too like
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: he was in on multiple plays where he was showing high effort getting in the back field and doing a good job.
- 9:51[SPEAKER_00]: So obviously there's a battle there between McLeod and Abdullah.
- 9:54[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like to make the team McLeod not healthy right now and of course, missed his rookie year.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: So I feel like you're Sierra Abdullah, even though they drafted McLeod.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know how you keep that guy off the team just without good.
- 10:07[SPEAKER_00]: He is on special teams and then
- 10:09[SPEAKER_00]: has been showing more as a defender, as of late.
- 10:13[SPEAKER_00]: And then Albert Regis, shout out to him, man.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: I've fought.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: He's a guy who's been a little up and down in camp so far as the Jaguar is third round pick 81 over all this year, but he was really strong in run defense and he got a sack.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: Huge sack, which was awesome to see.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_00]: Love to see that for Albert Regis.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_00]: He was able to quickly dispose of the offense of guard, hit him with his right hand and then kind of crossed over with the left hand and was in the backfield system nimbleness, nimbleness getting to the quarterback.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: I thought round lane played really fast as a safety for the Jaguars, which was a good sight for him.
- 10:48[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, the safety, as I mentioned, I think they played really, really well overall.
- 10:53[SPEAKER_00]: And then you look at Brian Thomas Jr., not the receiver Brian Thomas Jr., but the past Russia, undrafted guy, he was very explosive, strong against the run, I thought he set the edge well.
- 11:05[SPEAKER_00]: But he was consistently giving the offensive line fits as a past Russia.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_00]: I thought he was able to
- 11:11[SPEAKER_00]: went around the outside arc, he was able to show some speed to power as well.
- 11:15[SPEAKER_00]: So those are the guys that really stood out to me.
- 11:18[SPEAKER_00]: We will talk about the players who I think their stock was kind of taking a hit in this game as well later on today, but just wanted to get these winners out here for y'all kind of celebrate the dub, really appreciate y'all tuning in.
