- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the almost famous podcast with iHeartRadio. Hey, everybody,
- 0:06Speaker 1: I'm really excited for today's interview. I'm going to be
- 0:08Speaker 1: talking today with Melissa Redcroft Strickland. She was on Jason
- 0:12Speaker 1: mesnixt season and if you didn't watch back then maybe
- 0:16Speaker 1: you should go watch because it's one of the most
- 0:19Speaker 1: dramatic episodes ever. I know that's very overused, but and
- 0:23Speaker 1: it's all Chris Harrison's thing, and I'm not Chris Harrison,
- 0:25Speaker 1: but it still is. It was an incredible season, and
- 0:31Speaker 1: you know, since then, Molly and Jason have gone on
- 0:33Speaker 1: to have a very happy family, as has Melissa. I'm
- 0:36Speaker 1: very happy for her and Ty who they've been married. Actually,
- 0:40Speaker 1: I don't know how long they've been married for maybe
- 0:43Speaker 1: fifteen at least ten years. Actually they have a twelve
- 0:47Speaker 1: year old, so probably like thirteen, fourteen, fifteen years. I'm
- 0:52Speaker 1: really excited to talk to her. It's been a very
- 0:55Speaker 1: long time since we've seen each other, but I'm excited
- 1:00Speaker 1: to chat. So let's bring her in.
- 1:03Speaker 2: How are you.
- 1:05Speaker 3: Okay?
- 1:05Speaker 4: I mean, summer as chaotic in your house as it
- 1:08Speaker 4: is in mine. I'm like, I don't know what day
- 1:11Speaker 4: it is. Time schedules changed daily, and I just you know,
- 1:15Speaker 4: I get it.
- 1:15Speaker 3: I love it, I hate it, I get it. I
- 1:17Speaker 3: get it.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I know I get it.
- 1:19Speaker 3: And but I'm so excited that you're here.
- 1:21Speaker 1: I am so happy to welcome you to the almost
- 1:24Speaker 1: famous ogs podcast, because that's of course what you are.
- 1:28Speaker 1: And I know you know all about podcasting because you've
- 1:30Speaker 1: been doing it for a while.
- 1:31Speaker 3: So I'm just so excited to be able to chat.
- 1:33Speaker 3: It's been a long time.
- 1:36Speaker 4: It has been a very long time. I think it
- 1:39Speaker 4: was that old show Bachelor Pad. I'm pretty sure that
- 1:43Speaker 4: was the last time.
- 1:43Speaker 1: But actually I think it was Dancing with the Stars
- 1:48Speaker 1: the Well, let's see which one was first or second
- 1:52Speaker 1: or I So I know that we were both there
- 1:57Speaker 1: for the episode, right maybe.
- 2:03Speaker 4: Oh, I don't know what's first, that chicken or leg
- 2:06Speaker 4: You were at the hundredth episodes, right.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yes, you were at one hundredth episode. Yeah, so where
- 2:12Speaker 1: they had like a cake in the middle of the
- 2:15Speaker 1: ballroom and a big we took a big picture, yes, yeah, yeah, yes, okay, okay,
- 2:22Speaker 1: so maybe that was the last maybe either or but yes,
- 2:27Speaker 1: it's been regardless, it's been it's been a while. It's
- 2:30Speaker 1: been three kids later, and for you a bottle. A
- 2:36Speaker 1: lot of life changes. How is life?
- 2:40Speaker 4: Life is good, Life is good. It's we are in
- 2:44Speaker 4: summertime right now. I've got three of them, seven, nine,
- 2:47Speaker 4: and twelve. So it's just it's chaos. But I got
- 2:52Speaker 4: really emotional at the start of summers. I'm like, I
- 2:53Speaker 4: only have like five or six more with my daughter.
- 2:56Speaker 4: Oh less, I know, it's like it's a weird thing
- 3:01Speaker 4: when it hits you. So I told my husband Ty,
- 3:03Speaker 4: I was like, I want to travel this summer. I
- 3:05Speaker 4: want to start making memory and you know because before
- 3:09Speaker 4: long she's going to invite a friend and then vacation
- 3:12Speaker 4: changes and so but it did hit me. I went,
- 3:15Speaker 4: how did we get here? Like, how do I? I?
- 3:18Speaker 1: Oh, I just went on, I just got back from
- 3:20Speaker 1: a mother daughter trip to a friend's cabin or like
- 3:24Speaker 1: big barn that they just built and tell your ride.
- 3:27Speaker 3: And it was, you know, the moms and.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The daughters, and the daughters of course, just mainly hung
- 3:34Speaker 1: out with the daughters. So you know, I was hoping
- 3:37Speaker 1: for a little bit more time with her, but I
- 3:40Speaker 1: was also happy that she was happy and having fun.
- 3:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 3:44Speaker 1: So she's fourteen and Matt held Max is fifteen. So
- 3:50Speaker 1: we are we so and the chaos of like summer
- 3:54Speaker 1: for me right now is we are currently trying to
- 3:57Speaker 1: sell our house and move to Denver and go They're
- 4:01Speaker 1: going to be going to a new school. But in
- 4:03Speaker 1: changing schools, it's really sinking in because we consistently are saying, well,
- 4:09Speaker 1: we only have four more years with Blakesley here, so
- 4:12Speaker 1: we could live in a house that you know is
- 4:14Speaker 1: close to school. Blah blah blah, you know all of
- 4:16Speaker 1: those things. But so it really sinks in like it has.
- 4:19Speaker 1: It has definitely sunk in for me lately.
- 4:23Speaker 4: Yeah, Like every time I think about it, I just
- 4:24Speaker 4: get the goosebumps of like, oh, I'm not ready.
- 4:26Speaker 1: I'm not I know, I know, And and your boys
- 4:30Speaker 1: like what is everyone into?
- 4:32Speaker 3: I believe it's ava right?
- 4:34Speaker 1: Your daughter yes, and she's a dancer, does answer.
- 4:39Speaker 4: She's kind of following up.
- 4:41Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:41Speaker 4: But it makes me nervous too to get.
- 4:43Speaker 3: That mine is true.
- 4:46Speaker 4: Yes, yeah, I love it. I was very adamant of like,
- 4:52Speaker 4: I'm you find your own path, girlfriend, you know where
- 4:54Speaker 4: I went. I will not push you. And she you know,
- 4:59Speaker 4: I worked with the Cowboys cheerleaders this past weekend and
- 5:02Speaker 4: I came home and she goes, Mom, do you think
- 5:04Speaker 4: I could make the team if I keep doing what
- 5:06Speaker 4: I'm doing? And I'm like, oh, that breaks, Yes you can.
- 5:09Speaker 4: But oh it's such I feel like I feel like
- 5:14Speaker 4: because she's chosen the past, she has, there's a high
- 5:16Speaker 4: bar that, like she wants to be on Dancing with
- 5:19Speaker 4: the Stars, I'm like, baby, they ask you to be on.
- 5:23Speaker 4: You know what I mean? You can't audition and get
- 5:26Speaker 4: on Dancing with the Stars. And you know, twelve is
- 5:30Speaker 4: a hard age when they're coming into their own. But yes,
- 5:32Speaker 4: she's a dancer. She loves it. This is what she
- 5:34Speaker 4: wants to do when she grows up. And so I
- 5:37Speaker 4: was like, we'll put all our eggs in that basket, girl,
- 5:39Speaker 4: and I'll do whatever I can to help you fulfill
- 5:43Speaker 4: that dream, whatever the dream may be.
- 5:45Speaker 3: You know, No, that's totally Blakesley too.
- 5:48Speaker 1: She is all in and it's been it's it's it's hard,
- 5:54Speaker 1: and it is so amazing to see. Like I don't
- 5:57Speaker 1: know about about you, how you how your experiences, but
- 6:02Speaker 1: for me, I always say, like, she is so much
- 6:05Speaker 1: more talented than I ever was, Like she is technically
- 6:09Speaker 1: traditionally trained, like you know.
- 6:11Speaker 3: I was not.
- 6:12Speaker 1: I was just like I did the school thing, you know,
- 6:15Speaker 1: like in high school and then in college and then
- 6:17Speaker 1: for my Miami heat Like I that was my path
- 6:20Speaker 1: and her path is competitive, like technically trained, which just
- 6:26Speaker 1: fills me with so much joy. But at the same time,
- 6:28Speaker 1: it makes me so nervous because I'm like, it's a
- 6:31Speaker 1: hard career to choose because you know, they're not very
- 6:36Speaker 1: kind all the time. You know, at auditions, they're not
- 6:40Speaker 1: necessarily gonna just you know, tell you all the nice things.
- 6:44Speaker 1: They're gonna, you know, kind of beat you down. So yeah,
- 6:47Speaker 1: it is hard.
- 6:47Speaker 3: But I love that our girls both bound dance. I
- 6:50Speaker 3: love it.
- 6:51Speaker 2: That's a thing, you know, I will say.
- 6:54Speaker 4: I love that it's becoming dance is becoming more of
- 6:57Speaker 4: a quote unquote thing, if you will. We just had
- 7:00Speaker 4: a girl that we grew up dancing with who got
- 7:02Speaker 4: dance scholarships to Michigan State University, and I'm like, dance
- 7:06Speaker 4: scholarships didn't even exist back when on not that I
- 7:10Speaker 4: ever got one, but that was people laughed at that,
- 7:12Speaker 4: like what is a dance scholarship going to do?
- 7:15Speaker 3: Right?
- 7:15Speaker 4: So I do like that it's evolved a little bit,
- 7:17Speaker 4: and you know, I mean, there is some incentive to
- 7:19Speaker 4: keep up with it, that there's there's more than what
- 7:22Speaker 4: we had growing up as totally for them.
- 7:24Speaker 1: And there's so many incredible schools with dance programs now
- 7:29Speaker 1: that I'm finding out, like I had, I had no
- 7:31Speaker 1: idea because it wasn't something that I necessarily wanted to
- 7:34Speaker 1: study as a career. But yeah, so you so you
- 7:38Speaker 1: spoke about the Dallas Cowboy Chailader thing.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Tell me about that, like, do they do?
- 7:43Speaker 1: I know, I've caught it a couple times on TV.
- 7:46Speaker 1: I tell me the channel, tell me all the things
- 7:48Speaker 1: about what's.
- 7:49Speaker 3: Going on with that, and how long have you been
- 7:51Speaker 3: doing it?
- 7:53Speaker 4: Let's I think I've been on the judging side of
- 7:56Speaker 4: it for seven years now.
- 7:58Speaker 3: Amazing.
- 7:58Speaker 4: I get it mixed up with my timing. I'm very
- 8:01Speaker 4: bad about that and I think it's been about seven
- 8:04Speaker 4: Everything is always two years ago for me. It's awesome
- 8:11Speaker 4: being on the other side of a professional sports team,
- 8:14Speaker 4: as you know, like being in one, and you kind
- 8:16Speaker 4: of always want to know what's going on behind the scenes.
- 8:19Speaker 4: And now you know, I'm able to be a part
- 8:21Speaker 4: of the tryout process and the Cowboys cheerleaders have a
- 8:25Speaker 4: three month tryout process.
- 8:27Speaker 2: It's a pretty intense months.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Whoa and they follow it with camera.
- 8:32Speaker 4: We just is there a show they did? They did,
- 8:36Speaker 4: there was a show on CMT it it went away
- 8:40Speaker 4: two seasons ago. So now we're just just doing doing tryouts. Yeah,
- 8:45Speaker 4: just doing tryouts. But yeah, I mean it's I love
- 8:47Speaker 4: staying involved in the organization. I mean, I think that
- 8:49Speaker 4: was a big reason why I was able to launch
- 8:53Speaker 4: kind of into the quasi career that I had. Ye,
- 8:55Speaker 4: you know, and so you always go back and do
- 8:58Speaker 4: what you can to keep it going.
- 9:00Speaker 1: Well, yeah, of course, it's so much fun. We just
- 9:03Speaker 1: had a Miami Heat reunion alumni reunion, and they had
- 9:08Speaker 1: really yes, they had a reunion and there were I
- 9:10Speaker 1: think there were seventy seventy five of us on the
- 9:13Speaker 1: court at the same time dancing. We and mind you,
- 9:18Speaker 1: I'm fifty. So I was scrolling your Instagram just kind
- 9:21Speaker 1: of checking out what you're doing lately, and I saw
- 9:24Speaker 1: you post on her fortieth birthday of the picture like
- 9:28Speaker 1: what was the old T shirt?
- 9:30Speaker 4: Love that.
- 9:32Speaker 2: I feel like it's old.
- 9:34Speaker 4: I know what you're talking about about, But.
- 9:37Speaker 1: I'm now one of the old people essentially, And I
- 9:40Speaker 1: was like, but she's only.
- 9:41Speaker 4: Forty, but still every time it hits you where you're like, oh, man,
- 9:46Speaker 4: you're old. Oh but we went to high school together.
- 9:49Speaker 4: My bad never.
- 9:53Speaker 1: Totally yes, So anyway, I definitely feel old. And when
- 9:59Speaker 1: they yes, oh, well, right back at you, right back
- 10:03Speaker 1: at you, thank you. I just they sent us like
- 10:07Speaker 1: choreography in like, you know, videos so that we could
- 10:11Speaker 1: do it from home. So we did if we didn't
- 10:12Speaker 1: live in Miami, which a lot of us don't, and
- 10:17Speaker 1: I had to go to my I called the dance
- 10:19Speaker 1: director of my daughter's dance studio and I was like,
- 10:21Speaker 1: can I please.
- 10:22Speaker 3: Use the studio?
- 10:23Speaker 1: So she has like a TV up and I put
- 10:26Speaker 1: it on the TV, like learning this at my daughter's
- 10:28Speaker 1: dance studio. Mind you, of course she's totally making fun
- 10:31Speaker 1: of me.
- 10:32Speaker 3: But I was like, oh my gosh, it's.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Been a long long time and it was so hard
- 10:40Speaker 1: but so much fun.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Have you gotten to do anything like that?
- 10:45Speaker 4: They do alumni games every year, and it's always about
- 10:48Speaker 4: when our anniversary is and we're in Vegas, so I
- 10:51Speaker 4: have mist like every alumni performance. But last year I
- 10:56Speaker 4: saw the routine. I was like, that's a they're doing
- 10:58Speaker 4: double pirouette. And jumps in the CLUMPI are you getting me?
- 11:05Speaker 1: Thank goodness, they didn't ask me to do that.
- 11:07Speaker 3: Oh my goodness.
- 11:08Speaker 4: It was unbelievable, and they were doing it, these fifty
- 11:11Speaker 4: sixty seventy year old women. I was like, all right, girls,
- 11:14Speaker 4: get it, do your achievers.
- 11:18Speaker 2: No, I'm not me, I know.
- 11:20Speaker 3: Right, just meet me at the barn after thanks exactly whatever.
- 11:26Speaker 1: You totally could still do all that stuff. I definitely
- 11:29Speaker 1: oh no, no, no, no, I mean my flexibility is
- 11:32Speaker 1: poop and yeah, I have definitely not kept up with it.
- 11:37Speaker 3: So you said, Vegas. Do you go to Vegas every
- 11:39Speaker 3: year for your anniversary?
- 11:42Speaker 4: We go like four times a year. You do work
- 11:45Speaker 4: are really weird and that Vegas is our happy relaxation place.
- 11:50Speaker 2: Boys do we go to Vegas?
- 11:52Speaker 4: Are y'all like crazy gamblers? Are you going to the clubs?
- 11:55Speaker 2: I'm like bed by eight thirty in Vegas?
- 11:58Speaker 4: Okay, I'm making a collect dinner reservations. We walk the
- 12:02Speaker 4: strip home. It's it's like a one stop shop. You
- 12:05Speaker 4: have pool, massages, shopping. It's the best people watching you
- 12:09Speaker 4: will ever find in your entire library.
- 12:11Speaker 3: That's so true.
- 12:13Speaker 4: So we do, we go.
- 12:14Speaker 3: We go a lot that is amazing.
- 12:17Speaker 1: I have never heard anyone explain to describe Vegas as
- 12:21Speaker 1: a like retreat.
- 12:25Speaker 4: I mean, do it right, That's what I'm saying everybody else.
- 12:28Speaker 4: While we're walking home and I see the lines for
- 12:30Speaker 4: the nightclub and there's you could say me money.
- 12:33Speaker 3: No go into that night right, No, thank you? Uh uh.
- 12:41Speaker 2: It can actually be a very relaxing place.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I mean, I guess if you like, go to the
- 12:47Speaker 1: right hotels. They do have incredible restaurants, great shopping, great pools,
- 12:52Speaker 1: great spas.
- 12:53Speaker 3: So you're right.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I just never thought about it like that. Ryan took
- 12:56Speaker 1: the kids one one year. I had a work trip
- 13:00Speaker 1: around spring break and so he was like, well then
- 13:03Speaker 1: I'm going to go somewhere, and he's like, where can
- 13:04Speaker 1: I go? They went to Vegas and did like Blue
- 13:06Speaker 1: Man Group and you know, did the roller coaster rides
- 13:09Speaker 1: and you.
- 13:10Speaker 4: Know, right, whole other part of Vegas that is not
- 13:14Speaker 4: Blackjack tables in my clothes And it's so true.
- 13:28Speaker 3: Okay, So Bachelor, do you used to watch?
- 13:33Speaker 4: I don't.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Yeah, that is not shocking. That's not shocking. I don't think.
- 13:37Speaker 1: I don't know a lot of people watch of ogk
- 13:40Speaker 1: of like the Ogs.
- 13:41Speaker 4: You know, I do feel like it works an explanation
- 13:44Speaker 4: because it sounds like you're bitter when you're like, no,
- 13:46Speaker 4: I don't watch, and I don't watch for any other
- 13:49Speaker 4: reason other than I just don't relate to anybody anymore.
- 13:52Speaker 4: You know, they're hot, even twenty year old that can't
- 13:56Speaker 4: settle down at twenty and I just am like, I
- 14:00Speaker 4: just can't relate anymore.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I've aged out of you know, having this.
- 14:04Speaker 4: Oh and we try, I always try, and I fall out,
- 14:10Speaker 4: and I know I haven't watched a long time.
- 14:13Speaker 1: That's kind of like I am starting to feel that way,
- 14:17Speaker 1: as like the first one. I have always said that
- 14:20Speaker 1: I feel very maternal towards everyone on the show, just because,
- 14:27Speaker 1: like I've watched, I've watched everyone kind of go through
- 14:30Speaker 1: the same thing, and so I feel like I have
- 14:34Speaker 1: an obligation in a way.
- 14:35Speaker 3: And now that I'm you know, have been.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Doing this podcast, I feel like a little bit even
- 14:39Speaker 1: though we just mainly talk to OG's. So I definitely
- 14:45Speaker 1: feel that way. And but recently I have been like,
- 14:50Speaker 1: oh gosh, like I just feel the same way.
- 14:53Speaker 3: These people are so young, like I could I could
- 14:57Speaker 3: be their mother.
- 14:59Speaker 4: Crazy yeah, and as their mother, I like twenty one,
- 15:05Speaker 4: you do not need to take this route right.
- 15:09Speaker 1: Right, So I definitely feel you I have. I do
- 15:13Speaker 1: watch Bachelor in Paradise, like I do love Bachelor in Paradise,
- 15:18Speaker 1: and I love the shows.
- 15:19Speaker 3: I mean, I am going to watch I'm going to
- 15:20Speaker 3: try to.
- 15:20Speaker 1: Watch Charity season, which is the new Bachelorette that's going
- 15:23Speaker 1: to be coming out. Actually I think it's on Monday.
- 15:26Speaker 1: I think it's coming out next week, but I.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Think it is. It's either next week or the week after.
- 15:33Speaker 3: I want to say it's next Monday.
- 15:36Speaker 1: So I didn't finish Zach season completely, so I didn't
- 15:41Speaker 1: see like her final episode. But I think that she's
- 15:45Speaker 1: pretty strong in terms of like all things that I
- 15:48Speaker 1: personally feel like you need in terms of being a bachelorette.
- 15:52Speaker 1: But but who knows how long i'll watch, We'll see, right.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Do you still get recognized?
- 16:00Speaker 2: I do?
- 16:01Speaker 4: And you know what's funny is I feel like, as
- 16:03Speaker 4: much stuff as I've done in my career, it's always
- 16:07Speaker 4: Bachelor really that they Yes, it's always Bachelor that I
- 16:11Speaker 4: get recognized for. And Ty still gets the oh, you're
- 16:13Speaker 4: so much better than that other guy. And I'm like,
- 16:16Speaker 4: y'all it's been nearly twenty years.
- 16:18Speaker 2: Like we've all we are all so where we're supposed
- 16:21Speaker 2: to be and we're.
- 16:23Speaker 4: Fine, like a lifetime ago. But our I don't even
- 16:28Speaker 4: know if you again, my timeline's all off. Like three
- 16:31Speaker 4: years ago, my season of The Bachelor came out on Netflix.
- 16:35Speaker 4: Do you remember that?
- 16:37Speaker 3: Well?
- 16:37Speaker 1: They did, yes, during COVID they did like a best
- 16:42Speaker 1: uh best in show kind of thing, so Chris did
- 16:45Speaker 1: like episodes. Actually they showed the entire series. I feel
- 16:49Speaker 1: like of some of them, mine was on same thing.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Like I think that's when it was because I know
- 16:56Speaker 1: it was during COVID.
- 16:57Speaker 4: It was it was weird, and now my daughter's friends
- 17:00Speaker 4: were watching it. I was like, ooh, I had kept
- 17:02Speaker 4: that a nice little secret for a while. It did that,
- 17:08Speaker 4: But I mean.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Do they do they think it's cool or do they
- 17:13Speaker 3: think it's because.
- 17:14Speaker 4: It's on TV. They don't even really care about the
- 17:17Speaker 4: story or what happened. It's you're on my TV. Let's
- 17:22Speaker 4: pat off.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I've got other things you can watch. Let's not watch that. Yeah,
- 17:31Speaker 2: it's yeah, yeah, it's just weird.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Do you regret doing the show?
- 17:37Speaker 1: Because I'm interested to hear like your take, because I
- 17:40Speaker 1: have a I'll share my opinion in a second.
- 17:42Speaker 4: I mean, I can't say I regret it because I
- 17:45Speaker 4: look at everything that happened in my life after, including
- 17:48Speaker 4: the fact that I got back with my ex boyfriend
- 17:51Speaker 4: who became my home you know what I mean, Like
- 17:52Speaker 4: everything in my life changed case of that show, and
- 17:57Speaker 4: I really went on it. I had a friend, she
- 17:59Speaker 4: was a cheerleader with me or front. Her name was Natalie.
- 18:01Speaker 4: She's the one that nominated me. I don't even know
- 18:03Speaker 4: how they do the process anymore, but she submitted my
- 18:05Speaker 4: name and fogo online and I got this huge packet
- 18:10Speaker 4: in the mail and I went.
- 18:11Speaker 3: Well why not.
- 18:12Speaker 4: You know what, I'm not happy right now. I hate
- 18:15Speaker 4: my job. I'm not cheering anymore. And I just went,
- 18:19Speaker 4: let's just see what I Let's just see And so
- 18:23Speaker 4: I really went into it with a who knows what's
- 18:25Speaker 4: going to happen. I mean, you know, when we did this,
- 18:27Speaker 4: there's no social media. There was really no ulterior motive
- 18:30Speaker 4: for going on this show other than one with fits
- 18:33Speaker 4: finding love or two like what I was doing of like,
- 18:35Speaker 4: I just need something else. I'm not happy where I
- 18:38Speaker 4: am and I just need a change of scenery and
- 18:40Speaker 4: to see if this could be it, and so because
- 18:44Speaker 4: of that, I don't regret it now. I hate what
- 18:46Speaker 4: happened for sure, but if it hadn't happened, I don't
- 18:51Speaker 4: know what would have happened after, And so I can't,
- 18:54Speaker 4: you know, I can't hate that totally.
- 18:57Speaker 1: That is that is my mentality for the people like obviously,
- 19:02Speaker 1: for me, I found my husband and we are still married,
- 19:05Speaker 1: and you know, so yes, for me, it's different. But
- 19:10Speaker 1: I feel like for the people who didn't have like
- 19:13Speaker 1: the happy ending that they wanted or maybe were looking for,
- 19:17Speaker 1: that it led you to where you are today, you know,
- 19:20Speaker 1: in some way, shape or form, hopefully you're happy now
- 19:23Speaker 1: and it led you to where you were today. So
- 19:27Speaker 1: you said that you hated what happened. What do you
- 19:29Speaker 1: for the people who need a little refresher? What do
- 19:32Speaker 1: you hate about what happened?
- 19:34Speaker 4: You really?
- 19:36Speaker 1: I mean, I know everyone knows. Everyone knows, And it's
- 19:43Speaker 1: funny to me that people are like when they count
- 19:46Speaker 1: like successful relationships, they're like not Molly and Jason, which
- 19:50Speaker 1: is interesting to me because they met on the show,
- 19:53Speaker 1: you know, so even though things went down like they did,
- 19:58Speaker 1: that's just that's always interesting, you know, I.
- 20:01Speaker 4: Mean, here's here, Like, I've had so much time to
- 20:03Speaker 4: sit and reflect, and it really only took a couple
- 20:06Speaker 4: weeks of me sitting at home stirring before I realized
- 20:08Speaker 4: what happened. I legit think he got played as much
- 20:12Speaker 4: as I did, you know what I mean. I think
- 20:14Speaker 4: he was telling producers what he was doing and how
- 20:17Speaker 4: he was feeling behind the scenes. They told him not
- 20:20Speaker 4: to say anything, so he didn't say anything, and they
- 20:24Speaker 4: said wait for it on camera. Because I heard the
- 20:26Speaker 4: phrase the audience deserves to hear it, and so.
- 20:30Speaker 2: I know he was hearing that, and it ended up.
- 20:34Speaker 4: Making him look like a horrible villain and embarrassing me completely,
- 20:41Speaker 4: you know what I mean, Like all around, I think
- 20:42Speaker 4: we were all victims in the production of the show.
- 20:47Speaker 2: Do I blame production? No, we know they're making the show.
- 20:49Speaker 2: I get that now.
- 20:50Speaker 4: Like when I was twenty two and twenty three, I
- 20:52Speaker 4: was mad, you know, when they approached Bachelorette, I was like,
- 20:55Speaker 4: absolutely not. You guys are psychos. I want nothing to
- 20:58Speaker 4: do with you or.
- 20:59Speaker 2: Your show right like you say you're Bachelor the bus.
- 21:02Speaker 4: I don't want to be a part of it. And
- 21:04Speaker 4: now being forty and seeing it. I'm like, they didn't
- 21:07Speaker 4: owe me anything, they didn't know Jason anything. They exactly
- 21:12Speaker 4: what they wanted when they put us on that stage together.
- 21:17Speaker 1: So so right, You're so right, And I think that's
- 21:20Speaker 1: so wise, such a wise way to look at it,
- 21:22Speaker 1: a mature way. You know, when you're when you're twenty two,
- 21:25Speaker 1: twenty three, twenty five, thirty whatever, going through it, it's hard,
- 21:28Speaker 1: especially when you're in the middle of it, I'm sure,
- 21:31Speaker 1: but I have always felt like, you know, I have
- 21:35Speaker 1: always told people I'm friends with the exec producers because.
- 21:40Speaker 3: I'm able to separate it.
- 21:41Speaker 1: I know that they're creating a show, right, and then
- 21:45Speaker 1: we also have this relationship. So as long as I
- 21:48Speaker 1: get that, then it's fine. Like for Ryan, it's different,
- 21:52Speaker 1: Like he just always reflects back to when we were
- 21:55Speaker 1: trying to plan the wedding and you know, people were
- 21:59Speaker 1: not being super kind so like from production and and
- 22:04Speaker 1: he so he reflects back to that and kind of
- 22:06Speaker 1: holds a grudge in a way. And I'm just kind
- 22:08Speaker 1: of like, they're producing a show.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Yeah, that's their job.
- 22:11Speaker 4: You know, I'll ever go back and be there for
- 22:13Speaker 4: it again. But they're gonna be right, Yeah, No, they're right,
- 22:17Speaker 4: there's definitely a lay.
- 22:26Speaker 3: Yeah. Have you talked to Jason?
- 22:30Speaker 2: No, you looks really funny.
- 22:34Speaker 4: Seven or eight years ago, we were in talks Ty
- 22:38Speaker 4: and I were for a wife swap. Do you remember
- 22:39Speaker 4: that show on ABC?
- 22:41Speaker 1: Yes? Of course they asked us to do that too.
- 22:43Speaker 1: That would have been fun if we would have swapped.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Going to the whole process and kinda like, let's whip ever,
- 22:49Speaker 4: it's fun, it'll be fun. Well, some sweet producer at
- 22:53Speaker 4: the very end of the whole casting process goes, I
- 22:55Speaker 4: just need to tell you, and I didn't even cross
- 22:59Speaker 4: my mind. How it didn't crossed my mind, I don't know.
- 23:01Speaker 4: But they're like, they're gonna switch you with Jason and Molly,
- 23:03Speaker 4: and I went yeah, no, yeah, And it was a
- 23:06Speaker 4: very quick note for so many reasons that where I'm like,
- 23:09Speaker 4: that's disrespectful to Mollie.
- 23:11Speaker 2: She doesn't need me in her household first of all.
- 23:13Speaker 3: And your kids just every like all of everyone.
- 23:17Speaker 2: And she told me.
- 23:19Speaker 4: That this against sweet producer who wasn't supposed to tell me,
- 23:22Speaker 4: and like, I'm sorry, you just lost probably your job
- 23:26Speaker 4: for telling me. But she had said they want y'all
- 23:28Speaker 4: to have like this whole conversation of like closure, and
- 23:32Speaker 4: I went, there's no need for nobody's mad, there's no
- 23:35Speaker 4: need for that conversation.
- 23:38Speaker 2: Like, yes, I was hurt at the time, and I
- 23:40Speaker 2: was mad he didn't.
- 23:41Speaker 4: Tell me beforehand, but it only took a very small
- 23:45Speaker 4: amount of time for me to feel bad for him,
- 23:47Speaker 4: with all the badlash cot that he again was just
- 23:49Speaker 4: as much of a victim. I'm not mad at him.
- 23:51Speaker 4: I'm not mad at Molly. Mollie and I were really
- 23:53Speaker 4: good friends. Like people tend to think that there's like this.
- 23:57Speaker 2: Huge oh you would against Jason and Mille, Like, really,
- 24:01Speaker 2: there's some thing I would.
- 24:04Speaker 4: I'd say, I don't know, if we need to like
- 24:05Speaker 4: have double dates and stuff, probably.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Right, go to Vegas for your anniversaries, wife swap. I
- 24:14Speaker 1: cannot even imagine if that had happened. Oh my god,
- 24:17Speaker 1: if you had, if you had gone through with it
- 24:21Speaker 1: and no one had warned you, and you and you
- 24:23Speaker 1: got that, what would you have done?
- 24:25Speaker 2: I don't know, because you know how TV works.
- 24:27Speaker 4: When you've signed the contract, you're in, it's not like
- 24:29Speaker 4: you can turn around and no, I'm not, I don't
- 24:32Speaker 4: I really don't know. It would have been so awkward
- 24:35Speaker 4: and uncomfortable and like and again producers of like what
- 24:41Speaker 4: are you doing?
- 24:41Speaker 2: Like stop doing it?
- 24:45Speaker 4: So, but I have not talked to him since I
- 24:47Speaker 4: walked off the stage that day, Like there has not
- 24:49Speaker 4: been my gosh, yeah.
- 24:52Speaker 1: It's shocking to me that you haven't like run into
- 24:55Speaker 1: each other at an event or something, do you know
- 24:57Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 24:58Speaker 4: Like, you know, I have not gotten invited to any
- 25:01Speaker 4: bachelor me neither. Lately. I'm like, ah down bachelorette pretty hardcore,
- 25:08Speaker 4: and I think that made them angry. I don't get.
- 25:10Speaker 4: People are like, why weren't you at so and So's wedding.
- 25:13Speaker 4: I'm like, well, one, I don't know them, and two yea,
- 25:15Speaker 4: I didn't night. I don't know why I don't know them.
- 25:21Speaker 3: That's that you even have to say that. I mean,
- 25:24Speaker 3: it's so true.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I remember going to Jane and Tanner's wedding and seeing
- 25:30Speaker 1: them like at the like pret reception like beforehand that
- 25:36Speaker 1: like you know, we're like hanging out before the wedding
- 25:38Speaker 1: like the day before or something, and I walked up
- 25:41Speaker 1: to her and I'm like, Hi, thanks so much for
- 25:44Speaker 1: inviting us, Like this is so weird that.
- 25:47Speaker 3: I'm just meeting you. But thank you. We're so excited
- 25:50Speaker 3: to celebrate you.
- 25:51Speaker 1: I mean only in Bachelor verse, you know, Firstachelor Nation.
- 25:55Speaker 4: Yeah it is, you all know each other.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:59Speaker 4: I got asked Jason and Mollie's wedding. I was like,
- 26:02Speaker 4: are you kidding me? Is that really?
- 26:03Speaker 3: Are you kidding? Who asked you that? Stupid?
- 26:07Speaker 2: Probably we're so interestal going or not going?
- 26:11Speaker 3: Yes?
- 26:12Speaker 4: Come on, like.
- 26:13Speaker 1: I'm sorry, but what Yeah, although I say that and
- 26:19Speaker 1: then I go back to you.
- 26:21Speaker 3: So I just did an episode about my wedding.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Yeah, and I don't know if you watched it, but
- 26:28Speaker 1: on and you don't, It's okay if you didn't watch it.
- 26:32Speaker 1: But Charlie, who was the runner up, like the second
- 26:37Speaker 1: guy that I didn't choose, he was the like commentator.
- 26:40Speaker 3: Do you remember did you watch it?
- 26:41Speaker 4: I don't remember.
- 26:42Speaker 2: I know I watched it.
- 26:43Speaker 4: I don't remember.
- 26:44Speaker 3: No, me too, I mean pretty much.
- 26:49Speaker 4: So I feel like bachelor relationships don't count if they
- 26:53Speaker 4: don't last past that engagement day.
- 26:55Speaker 2: Like I look, right, do all those guys you dated
- 26:58Speaker 2: really count as exes?
- 27:00Speaker 4: I don't think so.
- 27:02Speaker 3: I don't think so either. But like so many people,
- 27:05Speaker 3: you know, joke about that. If whatever it is, what
- 27:10Speaker 3: it is.
- 27:10Speaker 1: But that's so that's embarrassing, like that I had my
- 27:14Speaker 1: ex boyfriend commentating at my wedding.
- 27:17Speaker 3: Like literally, he.
- 27:18Speaker 4: Is on.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Commentating at a wedding, and there's a whole reason behind it,
- 27:25Speaker 1: like people can tune into the episode where I talked
- 27:28Speaker 1: about the wedding. But so it wasn't like this decision
- 27:32Speaker 1: was made lightly. I knew full well that it was
- 27:36Speaker 1: going to be really weird, but there were reasons behind it.
- 27:39Speaker 3: It was just funny like he's commentating. He's in the
- 27:42Speaker 3: room with.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Ryan and his dad as like, oh, let's tune in
- 27:46Speaker 1: Ryan and Bob's about to give Ryan some the last
- 27:49Speaker 1: minute advice.
- 27:50Speaker 3: Oh my god. It was so bad. So I just
- 27:56Speaker 3: can't like that was my wedding weird. Okay, so tell
- 28:01Speaker 3: me about the podcast.
- 28:03Speaker 4: So in your podcast, sorry figured, we talk about your
- 28:10Speaker 4: logically irrational time I do it. I think this is
- 28:13Speaker 4: your number five that we have been doing it, and amazing.
- 28:19Speaker 4: The idea just came one night we were watching TV
- 28:22Speaker 4: and we talk while we're we're big reality TV fans,
- 28:25Speaker 4: like just kind of love mindless television and how different
- 28:28Speaker 4: are takes on everything?
- 28:30Speaker 3: You know?
- 28:30Speaker 4: I was like, how can you even how are we
- 28:32Speaker 4: watching the same show and you think this, and I
- 28:34Speaker 4: think that podcasts we're still kind of new. At the time,
- 28:38Speaker 4: I had babies at home and so I went, this
- 28:41Speaker 4: could just be a fun way to still connect with
- 28:43Speaker 4: the audience without me having to travel and.
- 28:47Speaker 2: You know, working out stuff like that.
- 28:49Speaker 4: And it's it's been successful. It's been you know. I mean,
- 28:52Speaker 4: like I said, we're going into year five. It's exhausting.
- 28:55Speaker 4: I don't know how you feel about a podcast, but
- 28:57Speaker 4: like when you do it from top to bot, it's
- 28:59Speaker 4: it's it's a lot of work.
- 29:01Speaker 3: But I do and do I do everything.
- 29:03Speaker 1: I do, do all of that. You do everything, So yes,
- 29:06Speaker 1: it is exhausting.
- 29:07Speaker 3: I do get it.
- 29:07Speaker 4: So I'm a control so like from making our topics,
- 29:12Speaker 4: making the outline, I do the editing. I do it
- 29:14Speaker 4: all because I'm like, I kind of don't trust when
- 29:16Speaker 4: it's your voice, you know what I mean. And I'm like,
- 29:18Speaker 4: I don't want anybody to leave in a part. I
- 29:20Speaker 4: don't want or take out something that I like. So yeah, right,
- 29:24Speaker 4: it definitely is a lot, but I love it. And
- 29:27Speaker 4: it kind of is a time that Tay and I
- 29:29Speaker 4: we lock ourselves up in our room and we'll sit
- 29:30Speaker 4: up there for a couple hours and just kind of
- 29:33Speaker 4: go at it. So it's therapeutic in a way, I
- 29:35Speaker 4: guess for us.
- 29:37Speaker 3: Yeah, for sure.
- 29:38Speaker 1: I had a podcast called Better et cetera. And I
- 29:44Speaker 1: had a company that I was working with, but basically
- 29:48Speaker 1: I was because I'm a control freak. Two, I was
- 29:51Speaker 1: doing all of the editing like they would have done it,
- 29:54Speaker 1: but I was like, I'll just edit it, I'll send
- 29:56Speaker 1: it to you.
- 29:57Speaker 3: I was the one who was booking guests, the one
- 30:00Speaker 3: who was you know, researching.
- 30:03Speaker 1: I was the one who was writing an outline and
- 30:06Speaker 1: doing the interview all by myself, and so I get that.
- 30:10Speaker 3: I took a break for a little while and I
- 30:12Speaker 3: was like, well, maybe I'll go back to it.
- 30:14Speaker 1: And then this opportunity came up with almost famous Ashley
- 30:19Speaker 1: I and Ben do it and I actually I think
- 30:23Speaker 1: we reached out to Sugarman. I'm sure you know Sugarman,
- 30:25Speaker 1: Well maybe you don't, but she's like, you know pr
- 30:29Speaker 1: person that a lot of us have crossed paths with
- 30:32Speaker 1: in Bachelor Nation, and I was talking to her and
- 30:36Speaker 1: trying to work something out with her, and Bob and
- 30:38Speaker 1: I did an interview together and we were like, this
- 30:41Speaker 1: is actually really fun, like we need to do something together.
- 30:43Speaker 1: We talked to her and that's when it happened. And
- 30:46Speaker 1: because it's like there's a production team you know that
- 30:50Speaker 1: basically does everything for this, I I you know, I
- 30:54Speaker 1: do a little bit of research on my own just
- 30:56Speaker 1: to be sure that I know who I'm talking to
- 30:59Speaker 1: when what's going on in their life prior, because I
- 31:03Speaker 1: feel like if you.
- 31:03Speaker 3: Don't, that's a little disrespectful. But I've been in interviews
- 31:08Speaker 3: with it. I have no idea what so my name?
- 31:12Speaker 4: Yeah, who are you again?
- 31:15Speaker 1: So anyway, I do that just because I feel like
- 31:18Speaker 1: it's important. But it's a whole different ballgame when someone
- 31:23Speaker 1: else is doing, you know, all the other stuff, and
- 31:25Speaker 1: I feel like I can fit it in and it's
- 31:27Speaker 1: so fun. I feel like for you too, like we
- 31:31Speaker 1: kind of did similar things, like I did you know
- 31:33Speaker 1: a lot of hosting gigs afterwards, so did you. I
- 31:36Speaker 1: just feel like after the show I was so drawn
- 31:40Speaker 1: to like media and like kind of like behind the
- 31:45Speaker 1: scenes are like on air talent kind of thing. But
- 31:49Speaker 1: just because the energy and like the people, like, I
- 31:53Speaker 1: just felt like it was fun, you know, it was
- 31:55Speaker 1: a fun job. And getting to talk, like I'm obviously
- 32:00Speaker 1: both of us are fine talking, especially for you, like
- 32:03Speaker 1: talking to your husband all the time, Like that's got
- 32:05Speaker 1: to be such a fun way to just connect.
- 32:08Speaker 4: Yeah, And you know, I do feel like, like I
- 32:11Speaker 4: hate to keep saying, but like back in our era
- 32:14Speaker 4: of reality TV, like the audience got to know us
- 32:17Speaker 4: as people, you know what I mean, Like that was yeah,
- 32:19Speaker 4: genuinely where everything that we did after that was us,
- 32:24Speaker 4: you know, Whereas now when you see people on social media,
- 32:27Speaker 4: you're like, that's a pretty picture, but I have no
- 32:28Speaker 4: idea who you are. So I do think that there
- 32:32Speaker 4: is that club of us that are about our age
- 32:34Speaker 4: that we're in reality TV at the time that we were,
- 32:37Speaker 4: that those people that still follow us follow us genuinely
- 32:41Speaker 4: for our life. They follow our kids, they follow our relationship,
- 32:45Speaker 4: and to me, I think that's very special because I
- 32:48Speaker 4: don't think that's there anymore. I look at my twelve
- 32:50Speaker 4: year old daughter on social media and I'm like, you
- 32:52Speaker 4: are so disconnected from everything. Every even though like you're
- 32:55Speaker 4: doing is like scrolling on TikTok, but you have no
- 32:58Speaker 4: real connection.
- 32:59Speaker 2: And I really feel a.
- 33:01Speaker 4: Genuine connection to these people that have followed me for
- 33:04Speaker 4: nearly twenty years, and I'm like, I kind of owe
- 33:06Speaker 4: it to you to let's just keep the journey up.
- 33:08Speaker 4: And I do enjoy it, you know, And so yeah,
- 33:11Speaker 4: that's a big reason why I like to I like
- 33:13Speaker 4: to continue it. I feel like all of our audience
- 33:15Speaker 4: from our era is just very special.
- 33:18Speaker 3: I agree. I don't.
- 33:20Speaker 1: I'm sure you hear the same kind of things, but
- 33:23Speaker 1: we hear constantly about how our time on the show
- 33:28Speaker 1: was something that allowed them to connect with like a
- 33:32Speaker 1: significant other or their mother, or like they were having
- 33:35Speaker 1: a baby while they were watching our wedding in the
- 33:37Speaker 1: hospital or whatever.
- 33:38Speaker 3: So I definitely feel that.
- 33:41Speaker 1: I and there are multiple people that I have DMed
- 33:46Speaker 1: through Instagram over the years that I have never met before.
- 33:50Speaker 1: They were fans, and we just have connected and every
- 33:54Speaker 1: time they write, I'm writing them back, you know, like
