[SPEAKER_02]: Alright, you guys, this is a very fun episode for me because not only are we interviewing Alisha's sister and brother-in-law, but Lilia was my best friend and partner in crime growing up and she's the only reason she's not my best friend is because her brother replaced her.
0:18
[SPEAKER_02]: Aside from that, we just have a long history together and it just feels like old times.
0:23
[SPEAKER_02]: We just have 11 kids between us now and now we're just like sorting out the gender wars between our five boys and their five girls.
0:32
[SPEAKER_02]: And yeah, we're very...
0:34
[SPEAKER_02]: very different family dynamics, but I love it.
0:37
[SPEAKER_02]: Anyways, so today we get to ask Blake and Leah a few questions.
0:41
[SPEAKER_02]: We get to work with Blake and Leah.
0:43
[SPEAKER_02]: They work together, and yeah, do you guys want to start off by introducing yourselves to our audience?
0:50
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you go first?
0:52
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm Malaya, and like Katie said, I'm a licensed sister.
0:56
[SPEAKER_03]: There we go.
0:57
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a girl.
0:57
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a licensed sister.
1:00
[SPEAKER_03]: And Katie and I grew up best friends.
1:03
[SPEAKER_03]: I think we've been best friends since what?
1:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Like seven, eight, seven.
1:08
[SPEAKER_03]: So we've known each other a long time.
1:11
[SPEAKER_03]: And Blake and I have been married almost eight years.
1:15
[SPEAKER_03]: And then yeah, we have five girls.
1:16
[SPEAKER_03]: Our oldest is seven, just turn seven, and then the youngest is five months.
1:22
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow, yeah, right now folks, just so you know, there's 11 children that are supposed to be in their beds in our home.
1:29
[SPEAKER_00]: And I feel like we're really pushing.
1:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it is.
1:32
[SPEAKER_00]: It is risky business.
1:33
[SPEAKER_00]: We're pushing our luck.
1:34
[SPEAKER_01]: Christopher Church mouse is working overtime right now.
1:40
[SPEAKER_00]: So there's a whole plethora of things that I feel like we could talk about in this episode.
1:44
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to kind of hone in on a few things because I think it is interesting.
1:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Blake came from a family of notoriety and our community, the Rasmus and family.
1:55
[SPEAKER_00]: My sister, Lilia, similarly came from a family in our hometown.
1:58
[SPEAKER_00]: that was a relatively prominent because of our numbers, kind of, you know, more than anything.
2:03
[SPEAKER_00]: However, there was differences in our upbringing.
2:05
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, Blake was public schooled, was a part of a different church.
2:09
[SPEAKER_00]: L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L'L
2:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I vividly remember when the line I first started hanging out, like almost dating, probably almost dating is what I would say.
2:38
[SPEAKER_01]: We'd known each other for a while, but I remember we had a very intentional drive and you asked me some pretty direct questions.
2:45
[SPEAKER_01]: One of them was what are my views on the homeschooling?
2:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Do you remember that?
2:50
[SPEAKER_03]: It was almost like, well, I had to get the list of questions.
2:53
[SPEAKER_03]: It was like, basically, if these questions don't go out, then this relationship isn't going to go anywhere.
3:00
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's just getting them out.
3:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
3:02
[SPEAKER_01]: But for me, you know, for me, you know, I grew up
3:06
[SPEAKER_01]: And I always kind of thought that home school kids were just kind of a little odd.
3:10
[SPEAKER_01]: But then I got to know them.
3:12
[SPEAKER_01]: And I realized they're not, they're actually pretty cool, pretty fun.
3:14
[SPEAKER_01]: So a lot of the more fun families that I knew were large families that home school.
3:19
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I was already open to the idea, but she really wanted to make sure I was willing to commit to that off that.
3:26
[SPEAKER_01]: So I wasn't intimidated by that.
3:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I guess I've never asked Lilia.
3:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, you, did you was homeschooling a non-negotiable for you when it came to dating and getting married?
3:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I mean, I definitely, they weren't open home schooling.
3:40
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, I would be open to other things, but I wasn't open to public school, I would say.
3:46
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, and then Blake, so you said, you felt like, you know, home schoolers are a little weird.
3:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I'm the little sarcastic thing.
3:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, I mean, it's kind of true.
3:54
[SPEAKER_02]: It's okay.
3:54
[SPEAKER_02]: We think public schoolers are a little weird, so yeah, okay.
3:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You gotta have like, you know, faith in your clan, what they're doing, but okay.
4:04
[SPEAKER_02]: But that said,
4:06
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, what are do you notice some like public school home school differences like even in your marriage and stuff like that we're like, oh, that's like a home school court or you know, does it does it play out and I was usually like I don't understand the inappropriate reference and he's like, I'm not going to say that right.
4:33
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like I'll say something I may be heard and I don't really know it's full context and then Blake will be like yeah I'm there with the context.
4:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, well, that's nice.
4:43
[SPEAKER_00]: You guys have each other's best.
4:44
[SPEAKER_03]: That's really helpful.
4:45
[SPEAKER_03]: You saved my big.
4:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, so let's jump into some other questions here.
4:50
[SPEAKER_00]: What are some ways?
4:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, no, we'll jump into this one right here.
4:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, unless you have another question, Katie.
4:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, so Blake, you're from family.
4:59
[SPEAKER_02]: Your dad's a pastor, you guys, you guys knew a ton of families, but Louis's family was exceptionally large.
5:05
[SPEAKER_02]: Was that intimidating coming into the Voperg family?
5:09
[SPEAKER_02]: Or no.
5:10
[SPEAKER_01]: A little bit, I think it's more just a personality thing, because my personality is good like one-on-one with people.
5:16
[SPEAKER_01]: So I feel like when I get into a large group, I kind of turn into a little bit more of an observer than a participator.
5:22
[SPEAKER_01]: So you can imagine,
5:24
[SPEAKER_01]: I was just some of them who were like most of the time, the Voper house.
5:28
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think it, I mean, they're all just super fun people.
5:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I know you're as a family for a really long time.
5:35
[SPEAKER_01]: So like we were friends before.
5:38
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, and he did in my sister.
5:39
[SPEAKER_01]: OK, that's not going to happen.
5:42
[SPEAKER_02]: You guys did kind of brother sister Swamp.
5:45
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, so I mean, do we really want to go into the world?
5:48
[SPEAKER_01]: It's actually an interesting story.
5:49
[SPEAKER_01]: It's a really interesting story, but do we want the world to know?
5:52
[SPEAKER_01]: But well, here's not that.
5:54
[SPEAKER_01]: It's not that interesting.
5:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, my brother, Jared, and Willia,
5:59
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, okay, that didn't happen.
6:01
[SPEAKER_01]: I wasn't even going to say that.
6:02
[SPEAKER_03]: No, okay.
6:03
[SPEAKER_01]: I was going to say that you guys want to set me up.
6:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh, right.
6:06
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
6:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
6:06
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
6:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And I did take Annie on a few dates.
6:10
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
6:10
[SPEAKER_00]: But Annie is our, our other sister.
6:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, our sister.
6:13
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
6:14
[SPEAKER_01]: But here's, here's what I knew that it was not going to go anywhere is when we were driving back from a concert.
6:18
[SPEAKER_01]: I took her to a concert in the park at Redmond.
6:21
[SPEAKER_01]: We were listening to John Williams music.
6:23
[SPEAKER_01]: Performed by the Seattle Symphony.
6:24
[SPEAKER_01]: Lilia's really jealous that she didn't get to go on that with me.
6:27
[SPEAKER_03]: It's a little bit.
6:27
[SPEAKER_01]: But Annie slept in the car the entire way home.
6:30
[SPEAKER_01]: She was an interested in having any kind of conversation with me.
6:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Wow.
6:33
[SPEAKER_01]: So I know you don't hold it against me, Annie.
6:35
[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah.
6:37
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I mean, we should wrap this whole story up.
6:39
[SPEAKER_01]: Okay, so yeah, you go for it.
6:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Okay, so then basically it wasn't working with Annie, so he went to plan B.
6:48
[SPEAKER_03]: He went to me, which he realized later was the better option.
6:51
[SPEAKER_02]: So you're the older brother because he yes, and Annie is the older sister.
6:55
[SPEAKER_02]: So like it made sense.
6:57
[SPEAKER_02]: Age wise.
6:57
[SPEAKER_03]: Is he tried that way?
6:59
[SPEAKER_03]: The match wasn't good.
7:01
[SPEAKER_03]: So then, so then you went for me, right?
7:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, yeah, I basically I had to ask my brother's permission that's all another story, but I said Jared, if you don't go for this girl, I'm going to you don't go for Lily, I'm going for Lily, so you can go for it and then two years later.
7:20
[SPEAKER_03]: Blate, Jared married our sister Annie.
7:24
[SPEAKER_03]: Wow, that's twisty.
7:25
[SPEAKER_03]: That is twisty.
7:26
[SPEAKER_03]: And everything works out.
7:27
[SPEAKER_03]: It's legal.
7:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Let's just say this is like falling in line with everything of like in bread, a weird home school or a fundamentalist, everyone's to turn around.
7:38
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, you're contributing to the problem here.
7:40
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, some marketing problem.
7:42
[SPEAKER_00]: So I'm curious, when you guys come to a disagreement, which is inevitable, right?
7:46
[SPEAKER_00]: This is real life that we're talking about here.
7:49
[SPEAKER_00]: What are some things you guys do to navigate those disagreements?
7:54
[SPEAKER_01]: Where do you think the disagreements start?
7:57
[SPEAKER_01]: It's probably.
7:58
[SPEAKER_03]: What?
7:58
[SPEAKER_01]: What else?
8:01
[SPEAKER_01]: Here's what I think.
8:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Typically, Lily is always processing things.
8:05
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, usually 10 years ahead of me.
8:08
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, okay?
8:10
[SPEAKER_01]: And so she's like thinking 10 years down the road about something.
8:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And she's got this idea.
8:16
[SPEAKER_01]: And she always finishes her sentence with, you know what I mean?
8:19
[SPEAKER_01]: You know what I mean?
8:21
[SPEAKER_01]: And it almost feels like she's trying to get a commitment out of me to something that we're not gonna deal with for another 10 years.
8:32
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I understand what you're saying.
8:34
[SPEAKER_01]: I say it in a way just that people know where she knows that I'm not agreeing to it, but I understand her.
8:40
[SPEAKER_01]: Got it.
8:41
[SPEAKER_01]: Because I need more time to think about it.
8:43
[SPEAKER_03]: So are you seeing that's where all of our disagreements are?
8:46
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just saying that in order to kind of navigate the in-between before we've actually settled on something.
8:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't want to commit to something before I've had time to process it.
8:56
[SPEAKER_01]: I kind of say, well, I know what you're saying.
8:58
[SPEAKER_01]: I understand what you're saying.
8:59
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
9:00
[SPEAKER_00]: So basically this was like her tactic of getting you to commit the things that you're ready to do.
9:04
[SPEAKER_00]: It feels like you're mitigating.
9:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, that's so preemptively.
9:07
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like we're about to get into it.
9:11
[SPEAKER_02]: It's the best time.
9:12
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, I feel like that's actually really know that that was because that's just that make you feel understood.
9:19
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, okay, at least he heard me out.
9:21
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I think so.
9:22
[SPEAKER_03]: I think yeah, when you respond like that, yeah, but I do usually I want him to
9:29
[SPEAKER_03]: an answer like yes or no or and I'm usually just not ready to do that.
9:34
[SPEAKER_01]: So it's kind of a true.
9:35
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you ever come to like, just like ever give you an answer?
9:39
[SPEAKER_03]: Uh, sometimes it'll be like, we'll cross that bridge when we get there.
9:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It's usually the answer.
9:47
[SPEAKER_02]: What about when you come to a bridge this like it's like we're crazy right now.
9:50
[SPEAKER_02]: I think it's the bridge.
9:52
[SPEAKER_01]: I know I need an example I guess I mean I feel like just in marriage you have to be willing to be patient with your spouse and let them you know navigate things and think about things and I don't just be gracious with one another, but yeah
10:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's true.
10:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Blake does listen to me in all my processing.
10:17
[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes I'm not sure if he's awake, but he's a good listener.
10:22
[SPEAKER_02]: I love you guys this marriage because it's so fun.
10:25
[SPEAKER_02]: And you guys tease each other.
10:27
[SPEAKER_02]: And I feel like Lilio's one of those people growing up that like always said the crazy stuff.
10:32
[SPEAKER_02]: She like the shock effect and was like funny.
10:35
[SPEAKER_02]: And when she got married to you, like you would just like laugh with her.
10:40
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
10:40
[SPEAKER_03]: Sometimes I do get like the touch of silence, which is like, first of all, the touch of silence is not something I coined.
10:46
[SPEAKER_01]: That's, I'm just like, oh, I'm the suppressive.
10:49
[SPEAKER_03]: No, he's not oppressive.
10:50
[SPEAKER_03]: He's helping me out.
10:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Like when I'm digging myself in a hole, they'll gently just,
10:56
[SPEAKER_02]: I mean, no, so that's what I think did my siblings name that, or did you guys get that's what we've Yeah, it's called it, I think from you guys because the life she would always, I used to say more, I used to put my foot in my mouth more than I do now And when we were first married, I would get like really riled up at the dinner table and he just kind of like put his hand on my leg and my sister So it all go
11:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, they're just trying to help us out.
11:24
[SPEAKER_03]: They are.
11:24
[SPEAKER_02]: They're like, hey, you might regret this later.
11:26
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, just have fun later.
11:27
[SPEAKER_03]: Do it earlier.
11:28
[SPEAKER_03]: Like, don't let.
11:29
[SPEAKER_01]: I don't know.
11:30
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to give yourself a little bit of a leash because it's fun.
11:33
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
11:34
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you know, with that, because you, as we already mentioned, Blake, your father is a pastor has been a pastor in our community for a long time.
11:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Now,
11:42
[SPEAKER_00]: And then little you married into that family.
11:44
[SPEAKER_00]: We've been going to church there since the time you guys have been married Were there any things anything that kind of caught you off guard when it came from being an our family where we didn't Although we were you know We wanted to have a good reputation in the community.
11:57
[SPEAKER_00]: It's not like we are in ministry formal ministry So maybe we could get away with a little bit more.
12:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Did you find yourself feeling that Age of responsibility when you were you felt like you were a part of the family the pastor family
12:08
[SPEAKER_03]: Um, yes, I mean, I think the biggest differences like in our family is our family would just hash everything out and Blake's family had a little more self control.
12:25
[SPEAKER_02]: They are a little more gracious about that when you say that.
12:28
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
12:29
[SPEAKER_02]: Do you feel like that's because you guys knew that you were, um, you know, like you had a reputation to fill within the community or do you feel like that was just more like the culture of your family either way?
12:40
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's just our family culture and I think just the nature of only having three kids in the family.
12:45
[SPEAKER_01]: There weren't as many, um, conflict, um,
12:51
[SPEAKER_01]: It was definitely fun, like going over to the Vogue Brick House and like hearing some of these heated discussions about topics that are really not necessarily, you know, carry much weight.
13:04
[SPEAKER_01]: But yeah, I don't know if that has so much to do with like the church upbringing.
13:08
[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking more along the lines of when you and I first got married, I was working at the church.
13:14
[SPEAKER_01]: And I think even in my employee agreement, I could really miss like two Sundays a year.
13:19
[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, we can only miss two Sundays a year?
13:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that was a that was a difference is I mean our family always grew up going to church but there was also a lot of Sundays we would miss because we'd be out of town or something.
13:32
[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's part of being homeschool, too.
13:34
[SPEAKER_01]: You guys have to free them to do some trips and stuff.
13:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Or we would visit a lot of other churches.
13:39
[SPEAKER_03]: And then, yeah, when we got married, it's like, we were committed to that church.
13:43
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I mean, even like, on our honeymoon, we came back.
13:46
[SPEAKER_01]: We went to church and then we continued our honeymoon.
13:49
[SPEAKER_03]: And so basically, we're committed churchgoer.
13:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Alright guys, we need to jump in here and let you know that out of necessity, we are raising the prices over a Voper music academy and you say out of necessity, I don't buy it and it actually has shifted.
14:06
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, we are able to keep our prices very low for a long time because we weren't offering live instruction, right?
14:12
[SPEAKER_00]: and we've added so many live calls.
14:14
[SPEAKER_00]: We're needing to add to the team, okay?
14:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Not only has the customer service load increased greatly, the the teacher load has increased greatly.
14:23
[SPEAKER_00]: We're creating more courses than ever.
14:24
[SPEAKER_00]: We're doing more live calls than ever.
14:26
[SPEAKER_00]: We're sending out more badges in the mail than ever before.
14:29
[SPEAKER_00]: We're also sending out more $10 bill awards for the six hongs of summer, and ever before that that might be the number one reason for raising prices.
14:38
[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, no, no.
14:39
[SPEAKER_02]: It really is.
14:39
[SPEAKER_02]: We want to continue.
14:40
[SPEAKER_02]: We've talked about scaling back what we're offering on a vogue music academy because there's nothing like it.
14:46
[SPEAKER_02]: We've never seen any method where you can learn as easily, as affordably, and as fun.
14:53
[SPEAKER_02]: As you can, it will bring me so we're very confident in that.
14:57
[SPEAKER_02]: We don't want to change anything that we're doing.
14:59
[SPEAKER_02]: And so we just need to bring more people on to keep giving you an excellent product.
15:04
[SPEAKER_02]: And so this is going to still be the most affordable way that you and your family can learn music.
15:10
[SPEAKER_02]: But we want to keep families learning together, we didn't want to start saying, okay, every child has to have their own account.
15:17
[SPEAKER_02]: So yeah, we want to continue offering an exceptional product to you guys.
15:22
[SPEAKER_02]: And as a result of that, we are going to have to increase our prices, but it's still going to be very affordable.
15:28
[SPEAKER_00]: that is.
15:28
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you sign up before we raise prices this fall, you can lock in that price.
15:33
[SPEAKER_00]: And once you are signed up in that course, we won't like raise prices once you're already in at that price.
15:39
[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, there is kind of a time line.
15:41
[SPEAKER_00]: We wanted to give you a chance to get in under the current price and enjoy those lessons.
15:46
[SPEAKER_00]: This also is kind of like, I mean, this we could
15:51
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, wow.
15:52
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
15:52
[SPEAKER_02]: We're doing that.
15:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Sure.
15:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Why not?
15:53
[SPEAKER_00]: Because we, we really, really fast.
15:55
[SPEAKER_00]: We are.
15:55
[SPEAKER_00]: This is a job listing.
15:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
15:57
[SPEAKER_00]: So reach out.
15:58
[SPEAKER_00]: If you guys, well, no, we'll do the job listing separate.
16:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, a job listing is coming because then we'll, we'll lay out what we're looking for in the job listing.
16:05
[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
16:06
[SPEAKER_00]: So stay tuned if that's something that's interesting to you.
16:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Good for you guys.
16:11
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
16:12
[SPEAKER_00]: And that is interesting.
16:13
[SPEAKER_00]: You say that.
16:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Because that is something that we have changed a little bit.
16:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I think in our home culture, with as much fun as I feel like we did have in our home, and it was full of love and support and all those things, I think I personally became way too flipping in my communication where I would just let things fly and just assume that forgiveness will always be there if there are feelings and
16:35
[SPEAKER_00]: that you can undo things and in retrospect, like you said, you attribute it there, you know, peaceful communication to self-control.
16:43
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
16:44
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, that's actually something that should be true just in Christians.
16:46
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, it's just a good attribute.
16:49
[SPEAKER_00]: And I think so often we
16:50
[SPEAKER_00]: That dismissed poor attributes and say, well, it's just a part of our family culture.
16:54
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's like, well, it's just the way I was brought up rather than actually asking if it's you know, beneficial to the listener if it's edifying.
17:02
[SPEAKER_00]: And so it's cool you guys have, yeah, you guys saw that early on.
17:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And yeah, I think you guys have, you've made the change.
17:07
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, I think you can.
17:07
[SPEAKER_00]: I have a lot.
17:09
[SPEAKER_01]: But I think even you can go too far the other way where you just start passive and you don't Yeah, it's like somewhere in the middle, but you know like the Matthew 18 principles if you have something Against your brother.
17:20
[SPEAKER_01]: You got to go to them.
17:21
[SPEAKER_01]: So just you don't go to them like aggressive aggressively You know go to them in love
17:27
[SPEAKER_02]: I think this spectrum is so funny because I've heard several of you vote for a girl say that about your husband's like their family culture and then with the vote for family being very like, you know, more have more conflict.
17:42
[SPEAKER_02]: And then when a lie should I got married, he was the one who was really cool because we were like,
17:49
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't love it.
17:49
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
17:50
[SPEAKER_02]: Like, you're lunging across the day water.
17:52
[SPEAKER_03]: I've been in some of those, and I thought I was used to intense, and then I would spend time with Johnson.
17:57
[SPEAKER_03]: It was fun, though.
18:00
[SPEAKER_03]: I enjoyed it.
18:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
18:02
[SPEAKER_02]: So that said, what was one of the biggest differences when you guys first got married?
18:06
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like every marriage has things that they stumble upon were like, okay, this is a big nut to crack.
18:11
[SPEAKER_02]: Was that more like theology, your family backgrounds growing up?
18:18
[SPEAKER_02]: school backgrounds.
18:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, media standards, you know, entertain us to play.
18:22
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, family size, like what was kind of like when you guys first got married, you're like, okay, like we kind of are going around this merry-go-round a couple times here.
18:31
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not like one conversation.
18:33
[SPEAKER_02]: We see eye-dye.
18:34
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I feel like I was more extraverted.
18:39
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think as time's gone on I've become more introverted.
18:43
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, I don't know.
18:43
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm still extroverted But I'm also just fine hanging out with Blake at all times.
18:49
[SPEAKER_03]: Would you agree?
18:49
[SPEAKER_01]: Are you talking about like foam?
18:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, like I would get phomo initially when we were married and I wanted to be a part of stuff where you were fine Not yeah, it would kind of Effects yeah, you and your mood.
19:02
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, I'm like I'm scared.
19:05
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm gonna hang out with them You know, it's just hanging with us Yeah, so but now I feel like that's changed.
19:11
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like I'm cool just hanging out with Blake
19:15
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, like, 10 hours before too, but it is just that initial, I did, like, I was kind of like the party girl.
19:22
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, not party girl.
19:25
[SPEAKER_03]: I like to have fun.
19:28
[SPEAKER_00]: They were like, wholesome party.
19:29
[SPEAKER_02]: They were like homeschooled.
19:30
[SPEAKER_02]: Yes.
19:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Please, this life of the homeschool party.
19:34
[SPEAKER_02]: She was.
19:35
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, I'm curious because you, like, we already mentioned, you had two siblings.
19:39
[SPEAKER_00]: One of them is our brother-in-law, right?
19:45
[SPEAKER_01]: But then family size, you know, you came from 10 and here you are not yet eight years in a marriage and you have five five girls Was kid count one of those things that you guys talked about like and yeah, what was that conversation like I mean Lillia Has always wanted to have a large family and we talked about that early on and I was always open to it because like I said The large families that I knew just had a lot of fun and and even even I would say even some of the ones that were not
20:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Economically suited to be a large family like there's some large families that you're like amazed how do they even make it day to day But they were just like the most fun Well life giving families that I knew so I think that was just a very attractive thing So I was open to the idea for sure.
20:33
[SPEAKER_01]: Actually I think I wanted to have a large van Enough to say I want to have enough kids to fill the bay I was like one of my life goals is to get a big van because I think they were so cool
20:44
[SPEAKER_01]: So it wasn't so much about He doesn't care about it It is about the kids too I was just like a milestone for me I was like I want to get a big van and fill with kids You know what I'd be like But I mean it's really Practically speaking you can set out to say You know we're going to have a large family But you still just take it one at a time And then Here we are five kids later So Yeah
21:08
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, all girls too.
21:09
[SPEAKER_00]: All girls.
21:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
21:10
[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you guys planned it that way.
21:11
[SPEAKER_00]: But now that we did have five goals.
21:13
[SPEAKER_00]: We nailed it.
21:13
[SPEAKER_00]: What are some things that like stand out to you?
21:16
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, we, you know, we have our daughter, but we feel like a boy family having our five boys and one girl.
21:21
[SPEAKER_00]: What are some like differences you see in being a girl family versus when you see like our family or some things that stand out that are special about being a girl family?
21:29
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, just being around your boys in the last couple days, I would say our girls are generally not as aggressive.
21:40
[SPEAKER_03]: No, I think it's been good for our girls being around your boys, though, because I feel like they're toughening them up.
21:46
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like one of your boys will just look at our little toddler and she'll start crying.
21:51
[SPEAKER_03]: And so.
21:53
[SPEAKER_03]: I think they're one-year-olds, yes, the one-year-olds are like going at it, but yeah, I would say in general we just don't they don't wrestle They like to play with dolls.
22:05
[SPEAKER_03]: We like to they like to cook.
22:07
[SPEAKER_03]: They basically like to do anything I do, which is why I love it.
22:10
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like they just like to be domestic.
22:13
[SPEAKER_03]: They like to sew with me
22:15
[SPEAKER_03]: They like to cook, and clean, and there can be times where I'm like, man, this would be nice to do it just by myself, but I have to remind myself, this is awesome, this is what I wanted.
22:27
[SPEAKER_03]: And I really feel, I mean, this might sound cheesy, but I feel like I was meant to be a girl mom.
22:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Like I just, I love it.
22:32
[SPEAKER_03]: I love having the girl pack, and they love going grocery shopping with me.
22:37
[SPEAKER_03]: They're just very girly girls.
22:39
[SPEAKER_03]: I think is, I think I'm realizing they're girly girls, and I'm totally okay with it.
22:44
[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, if you go back to, when we first got married, and the phomo, you were kind of feeling like you were missing out on the party all the time.
22:50
[SPEAKER_01]: So now I have my own part.
22:51
[SPEAKER_01]: You're in the hill and all your siblings.
22:53
[SPEAKER_01]: And now you're just hanging out with me.
22:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I mean, we enjoy that.
22:57
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
22:58
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like now we've got five girls.
22:59
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like you are the party, like parties at home.
23:02
[SPEAKER_01]: And it's like they're all doing the things that you love to do.
23:04
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like sewing and like baking.
23:07
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think that's one of my favorite things about having a bunch of girls.
23:10
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just the little is just having blast with all the girls.
23:14
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, well, that's awesome.
23:16
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, you're like running a finishing school.
23:17
[SPEAKER_02]: Like your eldest is an all good old for these school.
23:20
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, it's like she's so accomplished.
23:22
[SPEAKER_02]: They're also accomplished.
23:24
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay, that like see all the music books and the piano and the violins and the, I don't know.
23:29
[SPEAKER_02]: It's not a huge blessing to me too.
23:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, well, I'll just tell the story.
23:33
[SPEAKER_01]: It was truly was how old I don't know.
23:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Two sold down.
23:38
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, and we hadn't been getting a whole lot of sleep in one Saturday morning.
23:42
[SPEAKER_01]: We happened to sleep until nine o'clock and George year old us comes into our room and she's like telling us it's like, Mom, I I made breakfast for everybody and or maybe we came out.
23:55
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, she came in and she's like we're gonna go upstairs and play quietly and we came out in the kitchen with clean She had fed the girls and they're all upstairs playing quietly with dolls It's like wow, we've arrived.
24:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, yeah, that's great exactly.
24:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I mean, I think of it because like Katie mentioned the music academics You guys are you know already high achievers academically with your girls arts and crafts.
24:18
[SPEAKER_00]: We just got the wedding invitation
24:20
[SPEAKER_00]: We're just incredible that you guys hand made for Vance and Alex and it's just beautiful.
24:25
[SPEAKER_00]: It's like, what is that?
24:25
[SPEAKER_03]: The you sold those like, yeah, yeah, yeah, they like embroidered these like, I had the girls where my sweatshop.
24:33
[SPEAKER_03]: We had we were working hard.
24:35
[SPEAKER_01]: I didn't even know you could embroider on tool, but you did it.
24:38
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, my mom helped to with some of that.
24:40
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, not to mention that.
24:41
[SPEAKER_03]: I'll continue.
24:42
[SPEAKER_00]: Is that okay, you guys, you, you are always hosting as well.
24:46
[SPEAKER_00]: And if you're not hosting, you're bringing food to other people.
24:48
[SPEAKER_00]: And they just kind of, I guess, begs the question.
24:50
[SPEAKER_00]: The Katie and I have actually talked about you.
24:52
[SPEAKER_00]: I think before on the podcast, because you guys remind us, we've used this analogy before of like ducks, where it's like you guys are just so chill, but then under the water, it's just like your legs are going to happen.
25:02
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, just going twice the speed as everybody else and I actually mean that when we just hear about the things you guys are doing with business with vote Voper music academy You guys are filming courses not just for fiddle and guitar, which you guys are that we didn't mention that
25:17
[SPEAKER_00]: Blake, not sponsored for Voper Music Academy.
25:20
[SPEAKER_00]: Lily is the fit-all instructor for Voper Music Academy.
25:24
[SPEAKER_00]: The Blake also films all the piano courses, all the ukulele courses, so they're doing live calls for Voper Music Academy filming courses.
25:31
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, hosting, you know, tending to the widows and the orphans and the community.
25:35
[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm not just saying this to flatter you.
25:38
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a question that I'm leading to, and that is like, what is your guys' criteria for getting on the same page to commit to things?
25:47
[SPEAKER_00]: It seems like you guys are committing at a pace that Katie and I would like we would kill us and yet you guys show up You just have smiles on your faces and your chill your girls are well put together, you know, well dressed so like how how do you do you can Made dresses I mean well all answer first.
26:05
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I
26:07
[SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoy those things, and I feel like Blake and I make a good team.
26:13
[SPEAKER_03]: I know a lot of couples probably said, but I really do feel like we make a good team.
26:17
[SPEAKER_03]: And I don't know, I feel like we just have, we complement each other in a lot of ways.
26:22
[SPEAKER_03]: So if it's like, if I commit to something,
26:25
[SPEAKER_03]: Blake is good about helping me vice versa.
26:29
[SPEAKER_03]: And I think that we also enjoy a lot of the things we do so hosting I really enjoy hosting and I feel like it's something the girls can easily come alongside me They get excited.
26:40
[SPEAKER_03]: They're every night.
26:41
[SPEAKER_03]: They're like who's coming over tonight?
26:42
[SPEAKER_03]: They're always wanting to have people over tonight.
26:45
[SPEAKER_03]: And it's like if someone's not coming over, they're kind of like disappointed.
26:49
[SPEAKER_03]: But they love setting the table, doing things like that.
26:53
[SPEAKER_03]: And yeah, like I said, they love sewing.
26:55
[SPEAKER_03]: So that project with the wedding invites, it was something they could do with me.
27:01
[SPEAKER_03]: During nap time when the younger ones were napping, they got to help me.
27:05
[SPEAKER_03]: But yeah, I feel like usually if we've committed to something, it's something that we're both excited about.
27:13
[SPEAKER_01]: I would say, if it's something that you're bringing up that you want to do, generally something that is life giving to you, like the invitations or if it's like, you know, making a meal for somebody.
27:26
[SPEAKER_01]: So while I might add to our play, it's something that is actually pretty energizing to you.
27:31
[SPEAKER_01]: And so I think I would err on the side of saying yes to things like that.
27:37
[SPEAKER_01]: But I kind of feel like life is like run to bike, like balance.
27:42
[SPEAKER_01]: It's like putting weight on one side and putting weight on the other.
27:44
[SPEAKER_01]: Like you're constantly just kind of shifting up what you're doing.
27:47
[SPEAKER_01]: And there's plenty of time so we've overloaded.
27:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, we've definitely done that.
27:52
[SPEAKER_01]: And then it's like June is always a crazy month for us.
27:56
[SPEAKER_01]: But July is so great, like we've just kind of have these kind of rhythms of just like busy and then not so I don't know we just kind of manage the pressure like basically we just afford to July every year.
28:09
[SPEAKER_01]: So you go through a season where you just like load up your plate so much and then you're like okay I'm not committing to anything for the next six weeks or whatever and so we kind of just.
28:17
[SPEAKER_01]: play about your I guess.
28:18
[SPEAKER_02]: We need to learn from you guys because I was like July is like the worst.
28:23
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like the most over committed month on the calendar.
28:27
[SPEAKER_02]: It's like I like that though.
28:28
[SPEAKER_02]: You like commit heavily and then you guys rest.
28:31
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I feel like we we go hard and then we'll rest hard.
28:36
[SPEAKER_01]: Work hard play hard.
28:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
28:38
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
28:39
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay.
28:39
[SPEAKER_02]: I like it put that on me.
28:40
[SPEAKER_03]: You just made that up right there.
28:43
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
28:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Well, you mentioned working well as a team, and it seems like that, right?
28:48
[SPEAKER_00]: Never seems like, okay, this is a big ask of Blake and Lily's doing this thing, and then this is a huge ask of Lily and Blake is to do this thing over here.
28:56
[SPEAKER_00]: Has it always been that way?
28:58
[SPEAKER_00]: Or have there been moments where it really was, like somebody was committing to something, and then there was potential for the other person to resent them for it, you know, how we get into this mess or why do we have to commit to this thing?
29:09
[SPEAKER_00]: Have you guys had to have conversations around situations like that?
29:14
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, I feel like something that brought us together before we were married is that we did projects together.
29:22
[SPEAKER_03]: Like we worked a lot together as a team with music stuff, or I'm trying to think some of the other projects we worked on.
29:30
[SPEAKER_03]: But I feel like that's something that drew us together.
29:33
[SPEAKER_03]: We did work together, well, and then I feel like we have a lot in common.
29:39
[SPEAKER_03]: So there's not like a Blake doesn't have any interest where I'm like, oh my word, that's so annoying.
29:45
[SPEAKER_03]: Like I don't you don't and so
29:54
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it genuinely, it's like, all the things he likes, I like, like leisurely time.
30:01
[SPEAKER_03]: We like to go out bike riding or roller-blading, and so we're never like, you know, fighting for that, I guess.
30:10
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.
30:10
[SPEAKER_01]: I do think it's just one thing, I don't know if it's ever a big issue, but it's like basically just learned that you don't commit to anything without really running a buy-a-the-person.
30:20
[SPEAKER_01]: So I don't think there's a time really that.
30:23
[SPEAKER_01]: This recently we've committed ourselves to something without actually having talked about it.
30:27
[SPEAKER_01]: So, guys, got to consult before you commit.
30:30
[SPEAKER_00]: All right.
30:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we definitely, that's good.
30:33
[SPEAKER_02]: That's important.
30:35
[SPEAKER_02]: So you guys work together and then work together in life, okay?
30:40
[SPEAKER_02]: But then you also work together with us, if they'll release a story.
30:44
[SPEAKER_02]: How is that for you?
30:46
[SPEAKER_03]: Working with you guys?
30:48
[SPEAKER_02]: We love it.
30:50
[SPEAKER_02]: We are ready to hear that.
30:51
[SPEAKER_02]: We can do that off air.
30:53
[SPEAKER_00]: But if you're willing to leave a Google review.
30:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
30:57
[SPEAKER_02]: We love working with you guys though.
30:59
[SPEAKER_02]: So how is that working together?
31:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Just like Blake, you film Julia when she's doing tutorial action.
31:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Now that we talk about that, that has been an area that we've worked through.
31:11
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh, filming each other?
31:12
[SPEAKER_03]: Yes.
31:12
[SPEAKER_03]: We can go back to the car.
31:13
[SPEAKER_03]: Sure.
31:14
[SPEAKER_03]: This is kind of a fun thing to talk about because when we first started filming Blake's a bit of a perfection.
31:21
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm a producer.
31:21
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I was trying to like I was giving her a lot of feedback on like everything I was being a little critical really so that didn't really go over too well
31:30
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, he's gotten better about that.
31:32
[SPEAKER_03]: And I've gotten better at receiving some criticism.
31:37
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, my intent was never to criticize, but more just to touch.
31:44
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, we've worked through that, and that's gotten better.
31:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, yeah, when I was sitting on the other side of the camera teaching in guitar class, I felt pretty bad.
31:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh my goodness, I can't believe I was so critical of her.
31:57
[SPEAKER_01]: This is tough.
31:58
[SPEAKER_02]: I remember when you first, when you filmed your first video and you were like, I had so much grace for Lilia like this is hard on this side of the camera.
32:07
[SPEAKER_01]: That's true.
32:08
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
32:09
[SPEAKER_02]: I do feel like filming is a new level of working through your stuff with your spouse.
32:14
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't know why, it's been that way for us.
32:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, like the first week of our marriage we tried to do, because we had been, we had done videos on our own, separate from each other.
32:25
[SPEAKER_00]: and then we got sat down side by side to record a video and we got so mad at each other.
32:31
[SPEAKER_00]: We just, like, why did you say that?
32:33
[SPEAKER_00]: We have to keep pausing it and it took us a long time.
32:36
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, there's been times where I'm like, do you want to teach this spittle song?
32:39
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, exactly.
32:40
[SPEAKER_00]: So like if you got all the right ideas.
32:43
[SPEAKER_01]: But it's been a huge blessing.
32:45
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it has.
32:46
[SPEAKER_01]: Because when we first got married, Lily had 55 fiddle students, like in person.
32:53
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she was working longer days than I was.
32:55
[SPEAKER_01]: And so now that would not be very feasible with, you know, five kids at home.
33:01
[SPEAKER_03]: notes.
33:01
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, it's been a great way for me to be able to teach without having, you know, to teach all day or be away from my girls.
33:09
[SPEAKER_03]: And also, I still have energy to teach my girls.
33:13
[SPEAKER_03]: So that's, yeah, that is a huge blessing.
33:15
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
33:16
[SPEAKER_01]: So we kind of schedule our days so that we can both do that.
33:19
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
33:19
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
33:20
[SPEAKER_00]: I've got another question because you've got like a VMA is essentially your side hustle.
33:25
[SPEAKER_00]: You've got like a full career job that you oftentimes work from home as well.
33:29
[SPEAKER_00]: How have you guys found this good?
33:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Because we've experienced this and I think a lot of our listeners have experienced the like the lemma of the ability to work from home where there's a huge blessing in it and like being able to be with your children, you know, be
33:42
[SPEAKER_00]: more part of the family flow but there's a double-edged sword right where sometimes you feel too convoluted into the home flow and you're in each other's business have you guys found any systems that work for you when it comes to working from home you know keeping keeping the home a place where you can unplug for work right and just do family things like you feeling like you can actually pull away and get worked on and
34:06
[SPEAKER_00]: And then, bully, you feel like you actually have your domain where you can really just kind of own the home during the day.
34:12
[SPEAKER_00]: How's that been?
34:13
[SPEAKER_01]: thing has been going good.
34:14
[SPEAKER_01]: I'm just kind of learning how to do that.
34:16
[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't always worked remote.
34:18
[SPEAKER_01]: The thing about my day job, I guess I'll say, is that it does require me to be very of present and available for my job.
34:25
[SPEAKER_01]: So we basically just told the girls to not bug me while I'm working and I have an office and they're supposed to not be where they come in and they'll see me come down, you know, grab a cup of coffee and then I just kind of
34:40
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like he's intentional about starting his work day.
34:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It'll be like, you know, Willy breakfast and he'll be all right.
34:46
[SPEAKER_03]: I'm headed to work and he just blocks upstairs.
34:49
[SPEAKER_01]: I joke even about driving around the block and then like driving home and then walking upstairs.
34:57
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I feel like I mean, Blake's very productive at home.
35:02
[SPEAKER_03]: So for him, he gets a lot of work done, and then it's just maybe for the girls, but in a transition of like Kate don't bug daddy And um, but I feel like it's been going pretty long.
35:11
[SPEAKER_01]: And I feel like you're actually more productive at home when I am not, and I'm not bugging.
35:16
[SPEAKER_03]: Oh yeah, I feel like when
35:19
[SPEAKER_03]: like we love Blake being home.
35:21
[SPEAKER_01]: There used to be times that I would come home for lunch, like maybe a long lunch from work, and she was kind of just waiting for me to go back to work because I was kind of disrupting the whole flow.
35:30
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, she had a plan of what she was going to do with the kids.
35:32
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's like then the girls are excited to see him.
35:34
[SPEAKER_03]: They just want to hang out.
35:36
[SPEAKER_03]: It's like, you know, we got nap time or whatever.
35:39
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I feel like we have kind of the designated daddy's working and we're doing our thing.
35:46
[SPEAKER_01]: It's kind of goes back to the work hard play hard thing just like when you're working work, and then when you're out working stop working.
35:52
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah That's great.
35:54
[SPEAKER_00]: I mean we certainly relate to not getting anything done when we're both at home like it's You just to get cognitive conversation.
36:00
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, next thing you're valiant.
36:01
[SPEAKER_02]: Okay Yeah, if you don't have clear boundaries.
36:03
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah, which ever after every baby.
36:05
[SPEAKER_02]: I feel like we've gotten clear boundaries
36:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, we've had to.
36:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
36:08
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
36:08
[SPEAKER_02]: I like it.
36:09
[SPEAKER_02]: This is going to work.
36:10
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
36:10
[SPEAKER_00]: What's something that you would like a piece of encouragement or advice that you would give to a girl family?
36:16
[SPEAKER_00]: Right?
36:16
[SPEAKER_00]: You guys have.
36:17
[SPEAKER_00]: You're going five strong now with the girls.
36:19
[SPEAKER_00]: What are some things you've learned?
36:22
[SPEAKER_03]: What would you say about that one I don't I mean we're still obviously there's still so little But I think it's just fun having a bunch of the same gender to just embrace it and be like we're just the girl family and
36:41
[SPEAKER_03]: There's like all this stereotypes, you know, when I go into the grocery store, people will be like, oh, just wait til there are teenagers and I'm always like, yeah, I can't wait.
36:51
[SPEAKER_03]: Like I'm so excited to have a bunch of teenagers and I feel like that's just gonna be really fun and just embracing it.
37:01
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I'm excited.
37:03
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I don't know if this really is an answer to that same question, but we have talked a little bit about the stereotypes of like boys and girls and how people will comment on our girls and be like, oh, like just wait till you guys have a boy, you know, it's going to be chaos in your house and we kind of
37:20
[SPEAKER_03]: And now being here with you guys, I can't get it because there's a lemon kill.
37:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, you're usually this chaotic I guess what I was going to say is we kind of push back against that a little bit because like we've seen plenty of girls that are chaotic or whatever
37:39
[SPEAKER_03]: Or boys that are really caught, I mean, you meet the families where it's like the boys are the easiest.
37:44
[SPEAKER_03]: So it's, I mean, I think it is just what you make it.
37:48
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I think just, I guess I can't really give a piece of advice for a girl specific family, but just for parenting and genitals, just don't be discouraged and just be diligent with your training.
38:01
[SPEAKER_01]: and do it love.
38:03
[SPEAKER_03]: You know, don't screw up.
38:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, don't screw up.
38:07
[SPEAKER_02]: Guys, you're wonderful parents.
38:08
[SPEAKER_02]: You are.
38:09
[SPEAKER_02]: And you notice with your girls.
38:11
[SPEAKER_02]: They're just so sweet.
38:12
[SPEAKER_02]: They're so fun loving, fun to be around, but they're also so obedient and helpful one.
38:17
[SPEAKER_02]: I'm curious, what's something that you guys appreciate about each other?
38:23
[SPEAKER_01]: You want to say, yeah, I do.
38:25
[SPEAKER_01]: All right.
38:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Lilia.
38:27
[SPEAKER_03]: You can say more than what they want.
38:29
[SPEAKER_01]: Why is that married Lilia?
38:31
[SPEAKER_01]: Well, she, I knew she was going to be a great mom.
38:34
[SPEAKER_01]: And also, I just really enjoyed spending time with her.
38:37
[SPEAKER_01]: I think she's really fun and funny.
38:39
[SPEAKER_01]: But the one of the things that she's proven to be a great mom in is that she has a very high capacity for Chaos and messes and she's not afraid to get her hands dirty.
38:54
[SPEAKER_01]: You know changing the dirty diaper on our lap
38:58
[SPEAKER_01]: it's like the first time I saw her do that it's like are you going to just change that diaper on your lap?
39:04
[SPEAKER_01]: you know?
39:04
[SPEAKER_03]: I know just a cell in love with me.
39:06
[SPEAKER_03]: That's a strong example.
39:08
[SPEAKER_01]: It's just like there's I feel like if you're going to be a mom you're going to have some grit.
39:13
[SPEAKER_01]: She's got a lot of grit.
39:14
[SPEAKER_01]: You know ready to just like tackle the messes.
39:17
[SPEAKER_01]: And then my role is then come in and think, how can we avoid what kind of systems can we put in place to never have to change a dirty diaper on your lap ever again?
39:26
[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's kind of like how our mirror works.
39:28
[SPEAKER_03]: This is systems, yeah.
39:30
[SPEAKER_03]: So yeah, I feel like for me, I just really appreciate Blake as like the most steady person in the whole world.
39:38
[SPEAKER_03]: I feel like I'm serious.
39:41
[SPEAKER_03]: He's just like, no highs and lows.
39:43
[SPEAKER_03]: It's all just like, hi.
39:47
[SPEAKER_03]: No, it's true.
39:48
[SPEAKER_03]: I just use very grounding and stable.
39:53
[SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, that's good.
39:54
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
39:54
[SPEAKER_00]: You know, you said something.
39:55
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, thanks for sharing that.
39:57
[SPEAKER_00]: Um, this gets thrown around a lot.
40:00
[SPEAKER_00]: I think with parenting, but you said you've embraced, yeah, the girl family who just embraced parenting.
40:04
[SPEAKER_00]: And then you guys have completely done that from the beginning.
40:07
[SPEAKER_00]: Even when it comes to your guys as hobbies, you guys, you mentioned really that you guys share a lot of hobbies.
40:11
[SPEAKER_00]: There's a lot of things.
40:12
[SPEAKER_00]: you have similar interests but I think you've morphed your interests too as you've had children and you know I even think of the fact that you guys like all have your bikes you all have your roller blades that you take out these are hobbies that like you are developing with music you know even though your musicians already you've really thought through like okay what can we do with our daughters what can we all do together and you've like embrace those things and you've decided to have a blast with them and that's really inspiring because I know that like for me I've
40:41
[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe weren't that conducive to a family life, and then once I let go of them and embrace the things that were good for the family life, I fell in love with those things, whether it's a hobby or you know a discipline, books that you read, and so as just as humans were so adapt, like we can learn to love anything.
40:59
[SPEAKER_00]: And so when you think through the lens of like, is it with this be helpful to all the kids or we do it all together and then choose to love that thing?
41:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I think you guys really exemplified that, which is cool to see.
41:09
[SPEAKER_03]: Thanks, yeah, that is fun.
41:14
[SPEAKER_00]: We should wrap this up.
41:16
[SPEAKER_00]: For, yeah, those of you that are, yeah, listening or watching, you might be able to hear some sounds in the background, the kid, the natives are getting restless.
41:24
[SPEAKER_02]: I don't think everyone's sleeping.
41:26
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
41:28
[SPEAKER_00]: Uh, Lilya Blake, thank you so much.
41:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
41:30
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, yes, thank you for being awesome.
41:32
[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, did we end well as I mean, the whole thing.
41:35
[SPEAKER_00]: So thank you.
41:36
[SPEAKER_00]: Love you guys.
41:36
[SPEAKER_03]: We're huge fans.
41:38
[SPEAKER_03]: And also, I just want to say it's been my dream to be on a podcast.
41:42
[SPEAKER_03]: Any podcast.
41:42
[SPEAKER_03]: So.
41:44
[SPEAKER_03]: but yours is much like, is it your first podcast?
41:48
[SPEAKER_03]: You guys didn't a lot in my dream.
41:50
[SPEAKER_01]: She's been in a lot in her dream because she'll listen to podcast when Trudeau was born.
41:55
[SPEAKER_01]: Like, close bar, yeah.
41:56
[SPEAKER_01]: You know, trying to stay awake, nursing in the middle of the night.
41:58
[SPEAKER_01]: She'll listen to a podcast, but then she falls asleep and she's a host on the podcast in her dream.
42:02
[SPEAKER_03]: So this is how a dream comes true.
42:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Wow.
42:05
[SPEAKER_00]: I didn't know that we should have led with that.
42:08
[SPEAKER_03]: I mean, yeah, if you ever need a co-host,
42:11
[SPEAKER_00]: That's great.
42:12
[SPEAKER_00]: You are moving to the area.
42:13
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
42:14
[SPEAKER_00]: It's a lot in your dreams.
42:15
[SPEAKER_02]: Well, maybe you can sub for me because I went to church two weeks ago at William Blake's church and this older woman came up to me and started talking to me like she just knew me so well and I'm just like trying to place her and then she could tell I was like a little confused and she goes,
42:31
[SPEAKER_02]: Oh, you aren't Lilia, are you?
42:33
[UNKNOWN]: I'm just kidding.
42:35
[SPEAKER_02]: No, I'm not.
42:36
[SPEAKER_02]: It's true.
42:37
[SPEAKER_03]: Well, it's funny because Katie's the only Burnett in her family.
42:40
[SPEAKER_03]: So when we'd hang out, people always thought we were sisters.
42:43
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
42:44
[SPEAKER_00]: That is fun.
42:44
[SPEAKER_00]: We didn't mention this either.
42:45
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
42:46
[SPEAKER_00]: I know we got to wrap this up.
42:47
[SPEAKER_00]: But Lilia and Blake are moving to the town that we live in.
42:49
[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
42:49
[SPEAKER_00]: So that's going to be real fun.
42:50
[SPEAKER_00]: We're going to be able to do a lot more things in person with Voperate music academy who knows what else.
42:55
[SPEAKER_02]: We're going to take over the podcast.
42:56
[SPEAKER_02]: Yeah.
42:57
[SPEAKER_02]: It's gonna be great.
42:58
[SPEAKER_02]: You guys are out of town.
43:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Awesome.
43:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Cool.
43:01
[SPEAKER_00]: Folks, thank you all so much for listening.
43:03
[SPEAKER_00]: Talk to you next time.
43:04
[SPEAKER_00]: Bye.
43:05
[SPEAKER_03]: Bye.
