- 0:10All right, a little Sam Spence here on the Alex Garrett Podcast Network,
- 0:14and let me tell you, if there was ever a need for some rallying,
- 0:22you know Sam Spence music, I would say, it's to honor what
- 0:27a big weekend it was. Not in football so much, but in American
- 0:33history. I mean, when I hear that music, I think of the
- 0:38fired up troops that and the sons of liberty that dumped the tea in the
- 0:44Boston Harbor in rebellion against the English two hundred and fifty years ago. What
- 0:52this weekend kicked off kicked off was a start to year two fifty of America,
- 1:02because two hundred and fifty years ago, on December sixteenth, in protest
- 1:07to the taxation, with that representation, those who do not want to go
- 1:15along with England's rule, those who want to rebel, as I mentioned a
- 1:22a mill ago against the taxes, dumped tea in the Boston Harbor which led
- 1:30to the beginnings of a revolution. Couple that with the fact that this past
- 1:38Friday, Joe Biden, interestingly enough, of course, he would reaffirmed that
- 1:45indeed, December fifteenth is Bill of Wright's Day here in America. But did
- 1:53you know all of that, or did you know that a sex scandal has
- 1:57rocked Capitol Hill? Is that what you were focused on this weekend? How
- 2:01about the Israeli Hamas War? Was that a focus of yours as well?
- 2:08Because I think to not lose sight of what we could be, we must
- 2:14remember where we came from. And I don't know if any of us would
- 2:20be here today if in a two hundred fifty years ago, in seventeen seventy
- 2:29three, the Boston Tea Party did not happen. We may not all be
- 2:36here right now, if they did not rebel. That was the start of
- 2:42rebellion and the March to independence. So while we deal with the current events
- 2:51of today and the craziness of today, in the horrors of today, let's
- 2:58remember what we could be by honoring the fact that Boston's Sons of Liberty in
- 3:04twenty twenty three partnered up with America two fifty, an organization that is taking
- 3:12stories of people in America on the March to two hundred and fifty years as
- 3:16a country twenty twenty six, by the way, and saying here, we're
- 3:23gonna honor what two hundred fifty years ago was. I mean the Harbor was
- 3:28filled with people for the reenactment. The Red Coats were even involved as part
- 3:34of this reenactment, the Red Coats, they went all out last night in
- 3:42Boston, in Boston Harbor to honor the men and women the Sons of Liberty
- 3:50that started off a journey that of course would include George Washington, the Intercontinental
- 3:55Congress or the First Continental Congress. It would include bloody battles and Lexington and
- 4:02Concord, victorious ones at that, it would include poor revereers. The British
- 4:09is coming. The British is coming. But it wouldn't have happened if the
- 4:18Sons of Liberty didn't go on and say, no, we will not pay
- 4:25your taxes on this tee so far to the point where we will dump it
- 4:29in the Boston Harbor. I think that's a pretty powerful statement. And today
- 4:40England and US are allies, of course the UK. But to be knowing
- 4:47how great we can be, and how resilient we can be, and how
- 4:53really saying no to big government we can be, we only have to look
- 4:58at what happened two undred and fifty years ago December sixteenth, twenty twenty three,
- 5:04seventeen seventy three, two hundred fifty years ago, the dumping of the
- 5:14tea in Boston Harbor. I could talk about how bad the Jets and Giants
- 5:19were. Today, I could talk about how great it is that Josh Allen
- 5:24looks back. I mean, at least someone in the Tri States playing decent
- 5:28football. Hell, I can even talk about how the Chiefs knocked out the
- 5:32Patriots in year two fifty. And now the Rangers knocked out the Bruins the
- 5:38day of the Boston Tea Party anniversary. How's that for bucking establishment? Remember
- 5:46the Bruins our establishment of the NHL right now, So for the Rangers to
- 5:49knock them off and get two points on the day of the Tea Party anniversary,
- 5:58pretty cool up in Boston. And by the way, oh, by
- 6:01the way. And then of course we could talk about what's happened in Capitol
- 6:10Hill and how bad this Senate staffer has has become an issue. But I
- 6:20want to think positive today on a Sunday. I want to think positive on
- 6:27a weekend that honored such a moment in history where we said no, we
- 6:33will not accept your rule of thumb, we will not accept being under your
- 6:41thumb. And by God, if we can get that spirit again and not
- 6:46easily go into lockdown when the government tells us again, and not easily be
- 6:57I hate to say the word sheep, but easily be swayed into doing what
- 7:01the government tells us. We'll be better off. We are meant to be
- 7:10a small government country, with the government intervention being very limited and only when
- 7:15needed. And I think the Boston Tea Party and the Bill of Rights proves
- 7:23that. I think the fight toward the Bill of Rights, which was ratified
- 7:27in Philadelphia, by the way, proves that the fight for independence proves that
- 7:34we broke away from England for the very reason we complain every time we file
- 7:45our taxes because government didn't work in seventeen seventy three for those in the Boston
- 7:51Tea Party movement. And I don't think government works for us today as well
- 7:59as it could and should. So that's why I'm so happy that many gathered
- 8:03in Boston on a cold December day to remember our ancestry, America's ancestry,
- 8:13and what they did to help us become America. I'd feel like, two
- 8:20hundred and fifty years later, we're losing it. We're losing the very fabric
- 8:24of what it means to be America because we bowed down to government more than
- 8:31we say more than we stick up to government. We need to stand up
- 8:39to government when need be, take them to court when need be, dump
- 8:46the TA in the harbor when need be, because that's the spirit of America
- 8:52that can do attitude, not the I'm gonna let the government do it for
- 8:58me attitude. We have to get away from that again and believe it or
- 9:05not, when even under President Trump they pass spending bills that were still ridiculous,
- 9:13proving to me Republican, independent businessman, Democrat or not, things can
- 9:22get done. But at the end of the day, they're all in it
- 9:26to keep the spending going. That's how I feel. I started this podcast,
- 9:35in fact, because I thought my generation wasn't knowing where our taxes are
- 9:39going. So I'm going to also say right now, for Mayor Adams to
- 9:46even dare dare suggest raising taxes on us, I would say, no,
- 9:58way. Focus on the migrants. First. Trump calling immigrant blood poisoning to
- 10:09the country doesn't help our cause of a closed border system. But I think
- 10:20instead of doing what we did on January sixth, which was really, really,
- 10:26really really not the point of what happened two hundred fifty years ago.
- 10:31It might have that same rebellion nature, but doesn't accomplish. It makes movements
- 10:39look stupid. Of course, now there are laws in place where rebellion may
- 10:48not be able to happen so quickly, so people have to break the law.
- 10:56And I guess you could consider the dumb the Boston Tea Party breaking the
- 11:01law. But I look at as a spirit of America right there. It
- 11:09was an innocent act. To dump the tea in the harbor. Jan SIGs
- 11:16was not an innocent act. So we gotta figure out better ways to rebel
- 11:22and stand up when we see the government closing it on us so tightly.
- 11:31And I think I think the godsend was that IRS agents won't be on our
- 11:37asses anymore. When we're talking about taxes. They're not knocking on our doors.
- 11:46Believe it or not. In America, the reason for the Tea Party
- 11:48movement is still happening. That encroachment is still happening. Did you know?
- 11:54Did you know? In America alone? I gotta find the staff for you
- 11:58before I wrap up here on Alex Scare podcast, Because as of this year,
- 12:11the IRIS announced an end to unannounced revenue officer visits to taxpayers. This
- 12:22was a decade long practice by IRS revenue officers knocking on the door, and
- 12:28we had to all be okay with that. We had to be all okay
- 12:37with that. You know, the Inflation Reduction Act was a big part of
- 12:39it. So thanks to Commissioner Danny Walfrow for understanding that the taxpayers should not
- 12:50be intimidated by knocking on the door. That's a big policy change. That's
- 13:01a big policy change, and we should be thankful for that. Sure,
- 13:30thankful for that. But let's do other movements towards less encroachment as a country,
- 13:41as a country, because what happened two hundred and fifty years ago was
- 13:46saying no, no, we will not let you encroach on us. We
- 13:52will not let you encroach on our livelihoods by giving us by presenting taxation without
- 14:00representation. That will not happen on this third Sunday and advent. Maybe,
- 14:11just maybe we can take that higher power of resilience and spirit of answering to
- 14:26a different call to heart, because Christ answer to a higher calling. Even
- 14:35the guys in twoin fifty, two hundred and fifty years ago, we're answering
- 14:37to a higher calling of independence and freedom and yes, God by the way,
- 14:43Yes, God by the way. The first Amendment is freedom of religion.
- 14:56And that is something that came about because those in the Boston Tea Party
- 15:03said no more, that active disobedience led to something bigger. So let's not
- 15:11storm a Capitol building. Let's work on ways to remove encroachment of the government
- 15:20that can be as successful and as poignant as Boston Tea Party two fifty on
- 15:30that No little more spent Sam Spence for you as I say good night on
- 15:33the Alex Garrett Podcast Network
