- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermindset coach, creative strategist, and also happened to
- 0:10be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop and let's
- 0:23start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. Oh my goodness, so much
- 0:31happening here on the farm. We had a missing chicken for
- 0:34days, like she just went missing and I knew who it was because
- 0:38it, it's happened before. And these chickens that moved in
- 0:43from our neighbor when like a year and a half ago, almost two
- 0:46years ago now that you know, they're different.
- 0:50They're, they're a type of Bantam.
- 0:52They're a little bit smaller. They're called sea brights.
- 0:54They're a little flighty. They take off, they like to
- 0:56sleep in trees. But this has this chicken has
- 0:59gone usually for a night and then comes back.
- 1:01But she was gone for like 3 days, four days now.
- 1:05And so I was convinced that she was just gone, like literally
- 1:08dead. And I was never going to see her
- 1:10again. And then all of a sudden, boom,
- 1:13she's back in the coop. And I'm like, where does she go?
- 1:17And this just got me thinking about how sometimes this is,
- 1:20this is exactly like what happens to us mentally.
- 1:23We just check out, we just take off and we might like not tell
- 1:28anybody where we are. Mentally we're just like, OK,
- 1:30we're checked out. And I thought she just needed a
- 1:33break and she got out. She just took off, went to where
- 1:36she needed to go and took herself a break.
- 1:39And there's nothing wrong with that.
- 1:40She's back. She's totally fine.
- 1:41She's acting normal, but how many times do we check out
- 1:45mentally? How many times do we just like
- 1:48take off? And I do know, I mean, I have
- 1:50had people in the past that I've coached where they have
- 1:52literally just checked out physically too, where they're
- 1:54like, that's it. I'm going to a hotel for the
- 1:56night and they just leave. And I've always been like,
- 1:59that's so interesting. I, I wouldn't like to do that.
- 2:02I'm not somebody that wants to just take off and go sleep in a
- 2:06hotel bed. But I do understand the theory
- 2:09of just getting out of dodge and saying I got to get out of here.
- 2:12I need a break or whatever. So, you know, when you think
- 2:16about the fact that you, you know, you're feeling this way,
- 2:20what are you doing about it? Are you getting yourself into a
- 2:23position where you can pull yourself into reality and say, I
- 2:29see this coming before it actually hits you so that you
- 2:33can do anything about it? Or do you just want to let
- 2:36yourself get there so that then you're pushed and you're forced?
- 2:40Now? It's an interesting question.
- 2:43I like to believe that I see everything ahead of time, but I
- 2:47don't. That's the reality.
- 2:49And sometimes I think I do set myself up for a lot of work.
- 2:53That's just like this week, you know, coming up, I am 100% I'm
- 3:01off from coaching. It's a five week month, so I'm
- 3:04off. And that means to me that I'm
- 3:06going to push myself to do all kinds of farm work.
- 3:09I could have been doing it up to this point, but instead I've
- 3:13stacked it. And I, when I was thinking about
- 3:15this, I'm like, huh, I pushed myself right to the edge and I
- 3:19set myself up and, and now I'm like, oh, I've got so much to
- 3:23do. I've got so much to do.
- 3:24Well, of course I have so much to do.
- 3:25I set myself up that way. So how different is that?
- 3:29Then maybe the chicken just got fed up with everybody and took
- 3:31off. I don't know, because I don't
- 3:33speak chicken that well. I do want some things, but not
- 3:37this one. Like I can't, I can't figure out
- 3:38what they're what she tries to do and what she tries to say.
- 3:42But I do know I did set myself up for this.
- 3:44So there are so many lessons in this and there are so many
- 3:47things to think about in this. So I and I am challenging myself
- 3:51to look at this from a different perspective, see it differently
- 3:55and work to figure out, OK, I'm going to actually schedule all
- 4:00of the work this week. I'm not going to get myself into
- 4:02a position where I don't have any other time to do things.
- 4:07I'm going to actually schedule stuff.
- 4:09I'm going to sit down and sort it out.
- 4:11And sometimes that helps. But if you're at the pinnacle,
- 4:13like if you're right at the top of the tippity, tippity top of
- 4:16feeling like I'm just getting to this point where my head's going
- 4:20to blow off, stop and do a brain dump.
- 4:24Get it out now. So then you can choose if you
- 4:26want to wait until that blow up happens or you want to fix it
- 4:29ahead of time because you've got opportunities to do both, or you
- 4:34can wait until you just go down a rabbit hole.
- 4:37Either way, the choice is yours. So I hope that's helpful.
- 4:40I'm going to go take care of the chickens now and I will see you
- 4:45all tomorrow. Bye.
