• 0:20
Speaker 1: Hey, everyone, welcome to Bless this Mess and then for
• 0:22
Speaker 1: a Crump podcast I Don't care here with Stu. Say,
• 0:23
Speaker 1: hey Stu, Hey, all right, we are back this week
• 0:26
Speaker 1: and we are going.
• 0:27
Speaker 2: To Alabama, Alabama, Alabama.
• 0:33
Speaker 1: This episode is late this week because we here's the deal. Okay,
• 0:39
Speaker 1: tell me we got all these children?
• 0:42
Speaker 2: Well I don't know where they even came from.
• 0:43
Speaker 1: I don't either. I look around, like, what in the
• 0:45
Speaker 1: daycare happened? Here's anyway, So we it's just hard to record.
• 0:51
Speaker 1: The only real time we can record is either on
• 0:54
Speaker 1: the weekends during nap time now or on Friday afternoons
• 0:58
Speaker 1: because I usually only work half a day so then
• 0:59
Speaker 1: I can come home we can record. So that is
• 1:01
Speaker 1: why we're recording on the afternoon. But we're gonna try
• 1:04
Speaker 1: to record another episode this weekend so we can get
• 1:06
Speaker 1: ahead so we can start being back on time. Guys,
• 1:11
Speaker 1: we did put out Shoot the Pooh on time, though,
• 1:14
  Speaker 1: didn't we?
• 1:16
  Speaker 2: I don't know?
• 1:17
Speaker 1: Yeah, but maybe we did it on I don't remember. No,
• 1:20
Speaker 1: I think we did it on it. We got it
• 1:21
Speaker 1: out on Monday. Maybe. Anyways, why are you looking at
• 1:25
  Speaker 1: me like that?
• 1:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, we had recorded it and we were like way
• 1:27
  Speaker 2: ahead and then.
• 1:29
Speaker 1: Well we were ahead, but we The problem is, I
• 1:32
Speaker 1: like we we can't record at nighttime because I go
• 1:34
Speaker 1: to work at seven, so that means I have to
• 1:36
Speaker 1: be up, should be up by six, usually up by
• 1:39
Speaker 1: six thirty, and so I cannot stay.
• 1:43
  Speaker 2: Up till midnight.
• 1:44
Speaker 1: Yes, because record. Yes, they don't go to sleep because
• 1:48
Speaker 1: they sleep in, which is fine because they don't go
• 1:50
Speaker 1: to daycare or anything. So they sleep in, which is
• 1:53
Speaker 1: just fine. But that means that they don't have these
• 1:55
Speaker 1: early bedtimes. We've tried seven thirty. It doesn't work, so
• 2:00
Speaker 1: they're really they really go to bed between eight thirty
• 2:02
Speaker 1: and nine is realistically where they're at in their life,
• 2:05
  Speaker 1: you know.
• 2:06
Speaker 2: And sometimes do not go to actual sleep until eleven.
• 2:10
Speaker 1: Yes, it is what it is way to ghost do.
• 2:14
Speaker 2: Why are you putting stuff on my calendar? Put did
• 2:17
Speaker 2: I put in your calendar something about some photographers? Oh yeah, the.
• 2:20
Speaker 1: Fall photos for the family. Yes, we try to do
• 2:23
Speaker 1: fall family photos out here, but there is no fall
• 2:25
Speaker 1: out here. But somehow that lady last year magically made
• 2:28
Speaker 1: fall happen. There's one bunch of trees in this whole
• 2:32
Speaker 1: entire town because the lady I work with, I was
• 2:34
Speaker 1: telling her. I was like, yeah, we went and last
• 2:36
Speaker 1: year we went and took these pictures in these trees.
• 2:38
Speaker 1: She's like, oh, yeah, that's the set of trees that
• 2:39
Speaker 1: everybody goes. There's only one place. And when I say
• 2:43
Speaker 1: it looks like every corner of Louisiana or anything down south, now.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: You go out in the backyard and that's what it
• 2:50
  Speaker 2: looks like.
• 2:51
Speaker 1: Well that's even a shittier version of what it looks
• 2:53
Speaker 1: like in the backyard. But because it's like kind of
• 2:55
Speaker 1: dried up bristle like hard stickery.
• 2:58
Speaker 2: Yes, I was sweating out there last time we went out.
• 3:00
Speaker 1: Yeah, but this time anyways, this time we're doing at
• 3:03
Speaker 1: this new thing, this new place in town. And we
• 3:06
Speaker 1: waited until I was got on there early, so I
• 3:08
Speaker 1: got the October date. So hopefully it's not hot.
• 3:11
Speaker 2: It's gonna be hot, it may not be.
• 3:13
Speaker 1: It's six point forty how by had yachty get two
• 3:16
Speaker 1: o'clock in the afternoon. Yes, that's the other thing is
• 3:20
Speaker 1: sometimes I choose nap on the weekend instead of recording,
• 3:23
  Speaker 1: and then I'm in a we're in a buying so
• 3:25
Speaker 1: but where I do this this weekend, We're gonna be
• 3:26
Speaker 1: good all right this week, we are going to Alabama
• 3:29
Speaker 1: and we're doing a episode. I was watching Homicide for
• 3:34
Speaker 1: the Holidays, a classic, and I came across this case
• 3:39
Speaker 1: out of Alabama because frankly, I'm over summer. So like
• 3:42
Speaker 1: the other night we watched Halloween movies because I just
• 3:45
Speaker 1: close all the blinds, turned down the air conditioner and
• 3:50
Speaker 1: pretend it's not summer anymore because I'm over it. But
• 3:54
Speaker 1: so yeah, so I was watching Holidays for the homicide, like.
• 3:56
Speaker 2: Some holidays for the homicide.
• 4:00
Speaker 1: Aside for the holidays to get into the spirit of
• 4:04
Speaker 1: a colder days because they cover they started branching out.
• 4:07
Speaker 1: It used to just be Christmas, but now they're like, hey,
• 4:10
Speaker 1: you got murdered on Thanksgiving. Sure, Halloween, definitely. They even
• 4:13
Speaker 1: had a Fourth of July murder. So I'm gonna have
• 4:15
Speaker 1: to watch that one.
• 4:17
Speaker 2: For next year. Time for next year, because you don't
• 4:20
Speaker 2: think anything happens in July. No what we had that conversation.
• 4:25
Speaker 1: No, I just said, it's not my.
• 4:28
  Speaker 2: Tomatoes.
• 4:28
Speaker 1: Yes, it's not my cup of tomatoes. I'm a fall
• 4:33
Speaker 1: winter cold weather person until after New Year's and I'm
• 4:38
Speaker 1: over the cold too. I'm like, okay, let's move on.
• 4:40
  Speaker 1: I'm like everybody else, do I want what I can't
• 4:42
Speaker 1: what I don't have right now?
• 4:43
  Speaker 2: Right? All right?
• 4:46
Speaker 1: So we are going to cover this episode out for Thanksgiving.
• 4:51
Speaker 1: We've been having our own Thanksgiving discussions ourselves, making plans,
• 4:57
Speaker 1: but we'll talk about that later because we've yammered on already.
• 5:02
Speaker 2: I don't know what this we shit is, but yes,
• 5:04
Speaker 2: somebody has yammered on.
• 5:05
Speaker 1: All right, So if you want to join the Patreon,
• 5:08
Speaker 1: you get the episodes twenty four hours early. They're ad free.
• 5:11
Speaker 1: You also get the once a week. So far we've
• 5:15
Speaker 1: been doing good of Shoot the Poo. Well, we'll probably
• 5:17
Speaker 1: talk about our Thanksgiving plans because nobody wants to hear
• 5:21
Speaker 1: about it here now. But we pretty much yammer on
• 5:24
Speaker 1: about something and then we usually have something we're talking about.
• 5:28
Speaker 1: Like last week we talked about Amy Bradley, and I
• 5:30
Speaker 1: used I told everybody how what I thought happened, because
• 5:34
Speaker 1: I think this is this has gone The Amy Bradley
• 5:37
Speaker 1: thing is just out of control with the conspiracy theories
• 5:41
  Speaker 1: like this.
• 5:41
Speaker 2: Is absolutely particulously ridiculous. I'm glad I didn't sit there
• 5:45
Speaker 2: for all five episodes.
• 5:47
Speaker 1: There was only three Stewards.
• 5:48
Speaker 2: Well, one episode seemed like four.
• 5:50
Speaker 1: Anyway, so we talked about that one, and this week
• 5:52
Speaker 1: we're probably going to talk about our reactions to the
• 5:55
  Speaker 1: Brian Coberger's victim.
• 5:57
Speaker 2: Statements, all the impact statements.
• 6:00
Speaker 1: Yes, victim and victim. Yeah, impact statements. I also have
• 6:03
Speaker 1: some controversial thoughts on those as well.
• 6:05
  Speaker 2: A Stewart, Yes, I don't doubt it.
• 6:07
Speaker 1: All right, So we have Instagram, Facebook, check out the TikTok.
• 6:11
Speaker 1: I have been recommending documentaries and things like that over there.
• 6:17
Speaker 2: Bradley documentary I did.
• 6:20
Speaker 1: Everyone needs to watch it and have an opinion. I mean,
• 6:21
  Speaker 1: their opinion is.
• 6:22
Speaker 2: Probably wrong, but if it doesn't line up with your yes.
• 6:25
Speaker 1: If it doesn't line up with mine. But I've been
• 6:28
Speaker 1: slacking this week because it's just I've just been tired.
• 6:30
Speaker 1: So and then we have oh, we have bias a coffee.
• 6:35
Speaker 1: We got some more? Uh, buy me a coffee. I
• 6:37
Speaker 1: feel super bad because I feel like I shamed people
• 6:45
Speaker 1: into it. But Tommy bought us five coffee.
• 6:48
Speaker 2: So really appreciate that bought us me.
• 6:52
Speaker 1: Speaking of coffee, Okay, at the end the recipe at
• 6:55
Speaker 1: the not the recipe at the end of the episode,
• 6:56
Speaker 1: I will tell you I just made a new coffee
• 6:58
Speaker 1: today that I saw on TikTok and it's absolutely delicious.
• 7:02
Speaker 1: So I'll give you guys the recipe at the end
• 7:03
Speaker 1: if you're still here and you want to know about it.
• 7:06
Speaker 1: So all right, let's go ahead and get into this
• 7:08
Speaker 1: week's episode. Out of Alabama. All right, So we start
• 7:13
Speaker 1: with Brent and Charlotte Springford. So they live in Montgomery, Alabama,
• 7:17
Speaker 1: in this super expensive Garden District.
• 7:20
Speaker 2: Area, kind of like New Orleans has the Garden District.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: Yes, very very nice neighborhood. They were very well known
• 7:27
Speaker 1: in the community. They were very wealthy. Brent was the
• 7:30
Speaker 1: CEO of the Pepsi Cola bottling company there in Montgomery.
• 7:34
  Speaker 2: Nice.
• 7:35
Speaker 1: So I think he actually started not obviously didn't start Pepsi.
• 7:39
Speaker 2: But now they're usually independent distributors that bottle it.
• 7:44
Speaker 1: Yeah, so he was either a co founder or started
• 7:46
Speaker 1: that that one that in that area. Yeah, because when
• 7:50
Speaker 1: I lived in Lufkin, there was a Pepsi cola bottling
• 7:54
Speaker 1: company in Luffkin, I believe.
• 7:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, there's one. There's a coke one there in Lafayette too,
• 7:59
  Speaker 2: I think.
• 8:01
Speaker 1: All right, so the they were very active in the community,
• 8:05
Speaker 1: very active in local charities. They were just like those people.
• 8:08
Speaker 1: They had money, they go to the charities around town, but.
• 8:12
Speaker 2: Wanted to doing on the scene. Being seen.
• 8:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, but they didn't seem like assholes or anything like that.
• 8:19
Speaker 1: So they were known kind of like as a as
• 8:24
Speaker 1: a power couple. So you're kind of seeing sure, so
• 8:29
Speaker 1: I don't know which we barely have any power in
• 8:31
Speaker 1: this household thanks to our four year old. But no,
• 8:35
Speaker 1: they they're in the folk, you know, like you see
• 8:37
Speaker 1: the pictures of the people in the newspaper. So that's
• 8:39
Speaker 1: these are if you're trying to get an image of
• 8:41
Speaker 1: what they are, that's just who they were. So they
• 8:45
Speaker 1: had two children, Robin who lived in Birmingham, which is
• 8:48
Speaker 1: I think was about ninety minutes away, and then a
• 8:51
Speaker 1: son named Brent Junior, named after his father, who lived
• 8:55
Speaker 1: in Colorado. Not where we're going though, I don't think.
• 9:01
  Speaker 1: I didn't remember. I don't remember where they said he
• 9:02
  Speaker 1: lived in Colorado.
• 9:04
Speaker 2: I think he lived over on the other side of
• 9:06
Speaker 2: the mountain in the west part of Colorado, Montrose, Grand Junction.
• 9:14
Speaker 1: All that over there. We're going to Colorado Springs. Yeah,
• 9:17
Speaker 1: possibly for well, you got to say the springs, the springs, Yes.
• 9:22
Speaker 2: Nobody in Colorado Springs causing Colorado Springs. They call it
• 9:26
  Speaker 2: the springs.
• 9:26
Speaker 1: Well, I'm not in Colorado Springs.
• 9:28
Speaker 2: You don't want to sound like a tourist, do you, Yes, Oh.
• 9:32
Speaker 1: Stuart, I'm gonna open my mouth and they're going to
• 9:34
  Speaker 1: know I'm a tourist.
• 9:36
Speaker 2: Not everybody on the podcast has to know you're a tourist.
• 9:39
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 9:41
Speaker 2: November twenty fifth, two thousand and four, is Thanksgiving Day,
• 9:44
Speaker 2: and the spring Firs headed to Birmingh Birmingham, Alabama to
• 9:48
Speaker 2: spend Thanksgiving with their newly weed daughter Robin. Normally, everyone
• 9:52
Speaker 2: would come to Montgomery to spend the Thanksgiving, but their
• 9:55
Speaker 2: daughter had just gotten married before Thanksgiving, so she wanted
• 9:59
Speaker 2: to host in her home for the first time as
• 10:01
  Speaker 2: a married woman.
• 10:03
Speaker 1: Yes, she's taken on Thanksgiving duties, the big meal for
• 10:09
  Speaker 1: the family.
• 10:10
Speaker 2: Why would anybody do that to themselves?
• 10:13
Speaker 1: Oh, well, I've cooked Thanksgiving, but it's because like rest
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: in peace. Mom.
• 10:18
Speaker 2: Well, I mean, as far as you're newlywed, this is
• 10:21
Speaker 2: your first Thanksgiving. Have you even practiced anything?
• 10:26
Speaker 1: But it was just her parents coming over.
• 10:28
  Speaker 2: Oh okay, fine.
• 10:30
Speaker 1: I was gonna say rip mom, but she wasn't the
• 10:34
  Speaker 1: best cook, so I was I had. I was a
• 10:38
Speaker 1: little bit better. So they were happy to come to
• 10:41
Speaker 1: my house and do Thanksgiving.
• 10:44
Speaker 2: And let you practice on them. Yes you did, all right. Yeah,
• 10:48
Speaker 2: you followed the directions and made Stuart moist turkey.
• 10:51
Speaker 1: You stop saying moist. You're so gross. What I make
• 10:54
Speaker 1: excellent food. That thing we made I made last night,
• 10:57
Speaker 1: and the crocpot was delicious and nutritious and nutritious. The
• 11:01
Speaker 1: children refused to eat it, So fuck.
• 11:03
Speaker 2: Them, little bastards, ungrateful little shits. Now they're about ninety
• 11:09
Speaker 2: miles away from their house. So after they had a
• 11:11
Speaker 2: nice Thanksgiving dinner with their daughter, the Springford's drove back
• 11:16
Speaker 2: from Birmingham back to Montgomery. The next day, the Springford's
• 11:20
Speaker 2: planned on heading to their Florida condo because their home
• 11:24
  Speaker 2: was being renovated.
• 11:25
  Speaker 1: Rich people problems.
• 11:27
Speaker 2: Yes, yeah, had probably got a condo in Navarro or
• 11:30
Speaker 2: Destin or something like that.
• 11:33
Speaker 1: I think they said Pensicola or something like that.
• 11:36
Speaker 2: Yeah, we're in that area, right around the Orange Gulf Shores, Alabama,
• 11:40
Speaker 2: Orange Beach area. Yeah, yep.
• 11:43
Speaker 1: So on November twenty six, construction crews arrived at the
• 11:46
Speaker 1: Springford's home. The construction crew was given access to the
• 11:49
Speaker 1: home so they could just start work whenever the Springfords
• 11:52
Speaker 1: were not there because they were leaving to go and
• 11:55
Speaker 1: not be there whenever they arrived, and that was the
• 11:58
Speaker 1: plan this morning. So when the construction workers walked into
• 12:00
Speaker 1: the home, they immediately knew something was wrong. The house
• 12:04
Speaker 1: appeared to have been broken into. There were bookshelves pulled over,
• 12:08
Speaker 1: drawers pulled out, and just a complete mess, not anything
• 12:11
Speaker 1: like they would have ever seen walking into the Springford's home.
• 12:17
Speaker 1: They decide to walk upstairs just to see if anybody's
• 12:20
Speaker 1: home or what's going on. Well, they start seeing blood
• 12:23
Speaker 1: on the carpet, so they immediately like got to get
• 12:25
Speaker 1: the fuck out of air. They were like, we're not
• 12:27
  Speaker 1: getting pinned.
• 12:28
Speaker 2: For them now, No, Yeah, construction crew people are always
• 12:32
Speaker 2: did it right after the right after the spouse, right
• 12:35
  Speaker 2: after the.
• 12:36
Speaker 1: Like it's I feel like it's the spouse, the construction worker,
• 12:40
Speaker 1: and the truck driver. They are always suspect number one.
• 12:45
Speaker 1: So they immediately run down the stairs and call nine
• 12:46
Speaker 1: one one. Police arrive on the scene and it is
• 12:49
Speaker 1: clear that whoever was there was looking for something because
• 12:52
Speaker 1: pretty much every room was rifled through, the office. Everything. Yeah,
• 12:56
Speaker 1: so you're seeing an office that has all the files
• 12:59
Speaker 1: pulled out, things like that. You know, it's just it
• 13:02
Speaker 1: looks like someone might have been targeting the officer.
• 13:04
Speaker 2: Yeah, they tossed the entire place.
• 13:06
Speaker 1: Just as they're working their way upstairs, things take a
• 13:10
Speaker 1: very deadly turn because you remember we saw they saw blood.
• 13:15
Speaker 1: There was blood pretty much everywhere they described it. As
• 13:19
Speaker 1: you entered the second floor, they immediately noticed some throw
• 13:21
Speaker 1: rugs on the floor, and the rugs had been pulled
• 13:24
Speaker 1: over some of the blood stains, which led to one
• 13:26
Speaker 1: of the side rooms, so they could tell like the
• 13:29
Speaker 1: blood wasn't across the rug, there was blood under it,
• 13:31
Speaker 1: so obviously someone had moved.
• 13:33
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, they'll never know.
• 13:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, covered up with the rug, like I don't know
• 13:37
Speaker 1: if they used it to walk on so they wouldn't
• 13:38
Speaker 1: get blood all over their feet or or what. But
• 13:41
Speaker 1: it definitely had been moved. So in that side room
• 13:44
Speaker 1: in the closet they find a male victim. The victim
• 13:47
Speaker 1: had their throat slashed and had extensive head injuries. His
• 13:50
Speaker 1: face was bruised as well as his knuckles, so it
• 13:53
Speaker 1: looked like he had fought back. Yeah, the manner of
• 13:57
Speaker 1: death was very brutal and very bloody. He also appeared
• 14:01
Speaker 1: to that his body had been moved into that closet,
• 14:05
Speaker 1: so maybe use the rug to move them, They're not sure.
• 14:10
Speaker 1: It also appeared that the murder weapon was lying next
• 14:12
Speaker 1: to the victim. There was a knife covered in blood,
• 14:15
Speaker 1: as well as a piece of wood that looked like
• 14:17
Speaker 1: the handle of an axe covered in blood. That that
• 14:19
  Speaker 1: was the other.
• 14:19
Speaker 2: Thing nice pledging him to death with that.
• 14:22
Speaker 1: Yes, police leave that room and make their way to
• 14:25
Speaker 1: the bedroom. Now, in the bedroom, they can see scuff
• 14:27
Speaker 1: marks on the wall, blood on the walls. It was
• 14:30
Speaker 1: clear that there was some sort of struggle, some sort
• 14:32
Speaker 1: of fight in this room because it was just there
• 14:36
Speaker 1: was just a lot going on. So they walk around
• 14:39
Speaker 1: the room and that is where they found the female victim.
• 14:42
Speaker 1: The victim appeared to have been beaten severely. She had
• 14:45
Speaker 1: defensive wounds as if she was holding up her arms
• 14:47
Speaker 1: to protect herself from the attack. Her wrist was broken,
• 14:50
Speaker 1: her watch was broken, and again this was another very
• 14:53
Speaker 1: brutal passion, like there's passion behind this killing anger now
• 14:59
Speaker 1: in it. It did appear that she crawled from the
• 15:01
Speaker 1: initial place where she was attacked before she laid down
• 15:04
Speaker 1: and passed away. She also had a slit on her throat,
• 15:07
Speaker 1: just like the male victim. Now police were quickly able
• 15:10
Speaker 1: to identify them as Brent and Charlotte.
• 15:12
Speaker 2: Springford police start processing the crime saying and they find
• 15:16
Speaker 2: that there are no signs of four st entru on
• 15:18
Speaker 2: the first floor. However, as they look around on the
• 15:21
Speaker 2: second floor, they notice that there's a broken window hidden
• 15:25
Speaker 2: behind some drapery. There's a word you don't use off drapery, drapery.
• 15:30
Speaker 2: I use that word, drapery. Yes, drapery, I said. You
• 15:34
Speaker 2: don't hear it often drapes, Doug.
• 15:38
Speaker 1: We don't even have any drapes in our house, Dude.
• 15:42
Speaker 2: There is I don't know. Do the carpets match the
• 15:45
  Speaker 2: draper Shut.
• 15:46
Speaker 1: Up, stew What is wrong with you?
• 15:47
  Speaker 2: What?
• 15:48
Speaker 1: They obviously not for you because you're bold? Oh maybe
• 15:56
Speaker 1: what's wrong with you?
• 15:56
Speaker 2: Okay? What is wrong with you?
• 15:58
Speaker 1: This is a serious subject.
• 16:00
Speaker 2: Leading up to that window outside on the outside of
• 16:03
Speaker 2: the house was a trellis, which would have allowed somebody
• 16:05
Speaker 2: to climb that to break into the upstairs floor and
• 16:10
Speaker 2: enter the home that way. This is how police believe
• 16:13
Speaker 2: the killer got into the house. Since they're in such
• 16:15
Speaker 2: a nice neighborhood. They did have an alarm system. However,
• 16:19
Speaker 2: there was no alarm system on the second floor, meaning
• 16:22
Speaker 2: there's no window contacts or anything out there. And a
• 16:25
Speaker 2: lot of people do this because it's cheaper, but I'm
• 16:28
Speaker 2: not guessing that was the reason why.
• 16:29
Speaker 1: Maybe they probably just didn't think they needed it.
• 16:31
Speaker 2: You know, who's gonna who's gonna you gotta bring a ladder,
• 16:34
Speaker 2: you gotta climb up there, blah blah blah.
• 16:36
Speaker 1: Well they weren't going to do it. They were going
• 16:38
Speaker 1: to pay someone to do it.
• 16:39
Speaker 2: Well, that's what I mean. I'm saying, no, not not
• 16:42
Speaker 2: having to install it with a ladder, I'm saying that
• 16:45
Speaker 2: a criminal would they would have thought would have to bring.
• 16:47
Speaker 1: A lot of people think they're safe on the second floor.
• 16:50
Speaker 1: They're safe nowhere. Okay, someone's trying to murder you right now.
• 16:54
Speaker 2: Okay, there could be somebody outside this closet door right
• 16:57
Speaker 2: now waiting on us.
• 17:00
  Speaker 1: Know.
• 17:00
Speaker 2: It almost seemed like the person who broke into the
• 17:03
Speaker 2: house knew about the home not having any contacts on
• 17:06
Speaker 2: the first window. The first theory they're working on is
• 17:10
Speaker 2: a burglary gone wrong. They're thinking that maybe someone came
• 17:13
Speaker 2: to rob the home and then the Springsfurd showed up
• 17:16
Speaker 2: in the middle of that robbery and that this is
• 17:19
Speaker 2: when they're attacked. However, despite the entire house being tossed
• 17:22
Speaker 2: and rummaged through, especially on the first floor, there was
• 17:25
Speaker 2: nothing that they could find that was really taken of
• 17:29
Speaker 2: any value. And since this is a nice home, there's
• 17:32
Speaker 2: valuables everywhere, but nothing but there's nothing that they can
• 17:38
Speaker 2: they can see of any value that like a burglar
• 17:42
Speaker 2: would want to take to pawn or fence later on
• 17:46
  Speaker 2: down the road.
• 17:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, there's all these valuable stuff and nothing really is taken.
• 17:50
Speaker 1: So this is starting to look not match up with
• 17:52
  Speaker 1: what they thought.
• 17:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, so they start was staged, little stage action go on.
• 17:57
Speaker 2: So now they're leaning towards someone who knew the victims
• 17:59
Speaker 2: and targeted them because of the bludgeoning with the axe
• 18:03
Speaker 2: handle what they believe happened. They believe that there's a
• 18:07
Speaker 2: lot of anger behind these attacks and that they must
• 18:10
Speaker 2: have been familiar with the home. Police do notice that
• 18:13
Speaker 2: the black jag you are that the Springsford drove was
• 18:16
Speaker 2: missing from the garage.
• 18:19
Speaker 1: Well, that's kind of strange to not take anything in
• 18:23
Speaker 1: the house and then try to cover this up. But
• 18:26
Speaker 1: then take something as as a.
• 18:28
Speaker 2: Car that you would leave DNA in well that.
• 18:32
Speaker 1: Someone being able to find with the license plate number
• 18:35
Speaker 1: and all this stuff. So it's a little bit a
• 18:39
Speaker 1: little bit odd, all right, So please they begin interviewing neighbors,
• 18:46
Speaker 1: calling up family members. They've got to call up Robin
• 18:49
Speaker 1: now and let them know, let her know that her parents,
• 18:52
Speaker 1: you know, were found deceased. So they call her up.
• 18:54
Speaker 1: They ask when before they tell her anything. They say
• 18:57
Speaker 1: they kind of try to get a timeline from her
• 18:58
Speaker 1: and everything. They do finally tell her that her parents
• 19:01
Speaker 1: were found deceased in the home, and immediately Robin says,
• 19:04
Speaker 1: I have an older brother in Colorado and he did this. Wow, Okay,
• 19:10
Speaker 1: they were pretty shocked to, you know, have a statement
• 19:13
Speaker 1: from the sister saying this. So now they need to
• 19:16
Speaker 1: follow up with this whole dynamic that if the sister
• 19:18
Speaker 1: immediately suspects her brother, or.
• 19:21
Speaker 2: Is she trying to throw the brother into the bus
• 19:22
Speaker 2: when she's the one that did it.
• 19:23
Speaker 1: That's what they're trying to got to figure out. Initially, though,
• 19:27
Speaker 1: they must take these types of accusations at face value
• 19:30
Speaker 1: until they can find how they can find additional evidence
• 19:33
Speaker 1: to support it. They actually were able to pinpoint when
• 19:37
Speaker 1: the Springfelds were back in Montgomery area because Brent received
• 19:41
Speaker 1: a speeding ticket when he was coming back towards town.
• 19:44
Speaker 1: The ticket was received at six fifteen pm, and the
• 19:46
Speaker 1: trooper remember seeing a man and a woman and nothing
• 19:49
Speaker 1: seemed suspicious. They weren't frantic, they weren't upset, nothing like that,
• 19:53
Speaker 1: just normal behavior. They knew the location that they got
• 19:57
Speaker 1: the tickets in, which was about an hour from their home,
• 19:59
Speaker 1: putting the back at the house around seven to fifteen
• 20:01
Speaker 1: pm that night. Based on other evidence, they were able
• 20:04
Speaker 1: to determine that they were probably attacked around eight thirty
• 20:07
Speaker 1: pm that evening. They put a bolo out for that
• 20:10
Speaker 1: black Jaguar all around and the state police started pulling
• 20:14
Speaker 1: over cars matching the description trying to see if they
• 20:18
Speaker 1: could find this missing vehicle. And a Jaguar is not common,
• 20:22
  Speaker 1: I don't think.
• 20:23
Speaker 2: No, I mean, depending on what it is too.
• 20:26
Speaker 1: Well, I guess depends like what do you mean.
• 20:28
Speaker 2: On how old the jaguar is?
• 20:30
  Speaker 1: Okay, but still a jaguar isn't isn't a convience.
• 20:34
  Speaker 2: A jaguar A jaguar? I don't know. I don't have one.
• 20:38
Speaker 2: I've written in one before, but the jag, if you will, man, well,
• 20:43
Speaker 2: the one that I rode in didn't have a reverse
• 20:46
Speaker 2: and we the guy pushed it out of his grandma's
• 20:49
Speaker 2: garage because we went Troy riding one night when we
• 20:52
Speaker 2: were younger, and it was one with the big twelve
• 20:55
Speaker 2: cylinder that would do like a couple hundred miles an
• 20:57
  Speaker 2: hour real quick.
• 20:59
  Speaker 1: I don't know that.
• 21:00
Speaker 2: Probably shouldn't have been doing that, but we were out
• 21:04
Speaker 2: there joy riding in Grandma's car. Well, let's hope that
• 21:08
Speaker 2: with no seat belts on problem.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: Our children do not do saying things as you start.
• 21:13
Speaker 2: Let's hope, let us hope. Yes, please reach out to
• 21:16
Speaker 2: Brent Springford Junior, who now lives out in Colorado. They're
• 21:21
Speaker 2: familiar with Brent because he went to one of the
• 21:23
Speaker 2: most prestigious schools in Montgomery, Alabama. And he can probably
• 21:27
Speaker 2: say prestigious without having to do it twice. Yes, he
• 21:30
Speaker 2: was a great student, very smart. He however, did not
• 21:33
Speaker 2: want to join the family business and he decided to
• 21:36
Speaker 2: move out to Greeley, Colorado.
• 21:38
Speaker 1: He was a good looking fellow too. He had the
• 21:41
Speaker 1: natural you know how Johnny Depp like in Pirates of
• 21:45
Speaker 1: gabbean puts that eyeliner down there under his eyes. You know, yeah,
• 21:51
Speaker 1: I guess well, he the Brent guy, had kind of
• 21:53
Speaker 1: like a natural like eyeliner look. It was very he
• 21:58
Speaker 1: was handsome, handsome fellas.
• 22:00
Speaker 2: Because he was wearing an eyel on her.
• 22:01
Speaker 1: No, he just had his eyelashes were so dark it
• 22:04
Speaker 1: looked like eyeliner. You don't have to see it.
• 22:07
Speaker 2: You want me to wear eyeline?
• 22:08
Speaker 1: No, I'm just it's a striking look. Okay, if you
• 22:14
Speaker 1: can pull it off.
• 22:15
Speaker 2: Would you like me to try to pull it off?
• 22:17
Speaker 1: Absolutely, I'd like to watch you try to put eyeliner on.
• 22:21
  Speaker 2: I think if I can put a contact in, I
• 22:23
Speaker 2: can do eyelin her. Huh Is it a separate skill?
• 22:27
Speaker 1: Is a separate skill? You can it? Stab yourself in
• 22:30
Speaker 1: the eye with them?
• 22:31
Speaker 2: Yeah, that would hurt. Now. I thought that.
• 22:34
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 22:36
Speaker 2: I thought that the strong I was wrong. I thought
• 22:39
Speaker 2: he lived out on the western Slope. Greeley is up
• 22:41
Speaker 2: north of Denver, northeast of Denver, so up toward the
• 22:44
Speaker 2: border with Wowman. I believe in Greeley he lived with
• 22:49
Speaker 2: a woman named Carolyn Scout and her children. Montgomery plays
• 22:54
Speaker 2: contact the Greeley Greeley.
• 22:56
Speaker 1: Carolyn was an older an older lady.
• 22:58
  Speaker 2: Okay, a cougar.
• 23:00
Speaker 1: Yes, we'll get more into Carolyn in that whole situation
• 23:04
Speaker 1: here in a little.
• 23:05
Speaker 2: Bit, Montgomery police contact the Greeley Police Department so that
• 23:09
Speaker 2: they can go by and let Brett Brett Brent know
• 23:12
Speaker 2: that his parents had been found murdered. When they go
• 23:15
Speaker 2: by the residence, he is not there, so they call
• 23:18
Speaker 2: a cell phone number that they have. The cell phone
• 23:20
Speaker 2: number actually went to Carolyn and she said that Brent
• 23:24
Speaker 2: was there for Thanksgiving and that he was there all
• 23:26
Speaker 2: week and that he had just gone over to a
• 23:28
Speaker 2: friend's house in a nearby town. Police ask Carolyn to
• 23:33
Speaker 2: have Brent call them. She's like, okay, she agrees. Police
• 23:37
Speaker 2: are thinking that if all this is true, and that
• 23:39
Speaker 2: if Brent Junior was in Colorado at the time of
• 23:42
Speaker 2: the murder, it would make it nearly impossible since it's
• 23:45
Speaker 2: fourteen hundred miles away from the home in Alabama.
• 23:49
Speaker 1: Now, as there waiting for Brent Junior to call them back,
• 23:51
Speaker 1: they continue to look into other possible leads, including the workplace.
• 23:55
Speaker 1: Could someone I mean he is the CEO. Could someone
• 23:59
Speaker 1: have been and for being fired for being reprimanded something
• 24:03
Speaker 1: like that. So they interviewed people at work and they
• 24:05
Speaker 1: just couldn't find anyone that had a grudge against him
• 24:07
Speaker 1: or had threatened him. Nothing really stood out to them.
• 24:11
Speaker 1: So they start looking at the other properties that the
• 24:13
Speaker 1: Springford's owned, which included a lake house about thirty minutes away.
• 24:17
Speaker 1: They were rich, rich too, very rich, rich rich. Yes.
• 24:21
Speaker 1: They head out to the lake house and then what's
• 24:23
Speaker 1: crazy is they find the doors open and there's a
• 24:25
Speaker 1: bloody towel in the scene.
• 24:26
Speaker 2: You shut your mouth.
• 24:27
Speaker 1: I know. So they're thinking, like, maybe this is related
• 24:32
Speaker 1: to the crime scenes. They start asking around and they
• 24:34
Speaker 1: actually find out it was just the grounds keeper that
• 24:36
Speaker 1: was there that day and he cut his hand. Oh,
• 24:40
Speaker 1: so this was another because they were thinking, did someone
• 24:43
Speaker 1: like was familiar and went to the other house to
• 24:45
Speaker 1: clean up or something like that, So completely unrelated to
• 24:48
Speaker 1: the actual murders. Now, on November twenty seventh, two days
• 24:52
Speaker 1: after the murder, they finally receive a callback from Brent Junior.
• 24:56
Speaker 1: They tell him that there was an incident with their
• 24:59
Speaker 1: fami with his fam and that they need to know
• 25:01
Speaker 1: where he was the week of Thanksgiving. He tells them
• 25:04
Speaker 1: that he was with his family the whole week except
• 25:08
Speaker 1: for on Thanksgiving Day. He got really sick, so he
• 25:13
Speaker 1: went hiking in some canyon so that he wouldn't infect
• 25:15
  Speaker 1: his family, Which.
• 25:16
  Speaker 2: Is that's what I do when I'm sick. I just
• 25:18
Speaker 2: leave houing, go hiking. It's not lay in my bed
• 25:21
Speaker 2: wishing I was dead.
• 25:23
Speaker 1: He and remember that's different than what Carolyn said, because
• 25:26
Speaker 1: she said he went to a friend's house or something.
• 25:28
Speaker 1: So things are a little weird. Well, they told him
• 25:32
Speaker 1: that his parents have been murdered. He didn't even ask
• 25:34
Speaker 1: you know anything about it, like how or anything?
• 25:37
Speaker 2: Did you catch him?
• 25:39
Speaker 1: Very strange behavior altogether, And like we said, this was
• 25:43
Speaker 1: different than what Carolyn said. So things aren't adding up
• 25:45
Speaker 1: on Brent. So maybe the sister's right. Something's weird with this.
• 25:51
Speaker 2: They bring Carolyn down to the police station in Greeley.
• 25:54
Speaker 2: She's very emotional about the murders. She has children, ranging
• 25:57
Speaker 2: three children ranging from age thirteen to twenty years old.
• 26:01
Speaker 2: She said that she was home all week with them
• 26:03
Speaker 2: and that they could talk to the children anytime they wanted.
• 26:06
Speaker 2: Police did not believe she had anything to do with
• 26:08
Speaker 2: these murder. Police are finally able to get Brent Junior
• 26:11
Speaker 2: into the police station. Brent has no emotion at all
• 26:14
Speaker 2: in regards to his parents their murder. Nothing. He said
• 26:18
Speaker 2: he didn't know anything about the murder. He said that
• 26:20
Speaker 2: they weren't close and that he was here in Greeley,
• 26:23
Speaker 2: Colorado the entire time. They head to the home to
• 26:27
Speaker 2: interview the children. All the children tell a similar story,
• 26:31
Speaker 2: but police said they noticed a few little minor differences
• 26:34
Speaker 2: or things that just weren't matching up. One of the
• 26:36
Speaker 2: children did mention that Brent earlier in the week prior
• 26:40
Speaker 2: to Thanksgiving had a very disheveled, long hair look, and
• 26:44
Speaker 2: that when he came back he was clean cut, and
• 26:46
Speaker 2: it just was very different. So police are finding this
• 26:50
Speaker 2: is suspicious as well.
• 26:51
Speaker 1: Yeah, because these children aren't old enough to start talking.
• 26:55
Speaker 2: You know, they're not paying attention to a lot of
• 26:58
Speaker 2: things unless the thing that what they notice just slaps
• 27:02
Speaker 2: them in the face because it's so one eighty degree.
• 27:05
Speaker 1: Well, they're also kids are also so terrible with timelines too,
• 27:08
Speaker 1: because they don't know if he's probably there all Thanksgiving week, No,
• 27:12
Speaker 1: you know, they don't know what they don't remember the
• 27:13
Speaker 1: day before. So police they begin asking neighbors about the
• 27:18
Speaker 1: family about Brent's little family over there in Carolyn. They
• 27:22
Speaker 1: do call her his wife, but she's not. She's not
• 27:25
Speaker 1: actually married to him. She's like his spiritual wife. There's
• 27:30
Speaker 1: weird thing. We're going to talk about it more.
• 27:32
Speaker 2: But while they call it common law wife if you've
• 27:35
  Speaker 2: been shacked up.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: Okay, but this is they're into like spiritual things and.
• 27:41
Speaker 2: They touch and then they feel the energy for them
• 27:44
  Speaker 2: in between them.
• 27:45
Speaker 1: Yes, I don't think they actually have sex. What No
• 27:50
Speaker 1: things are weird to too. We're going to talk about him, okay.
• 27:53
Speaker 1: So they told so they're talking to the neighbors. They
• 27:55
Speaker 1: told him there was some odd behavior leading up to Thanksgiving.
• 27:58
Speaker 1: So Brent was actually seen at two o'clock in the
• 27:59
Speaker 1: morning in just like boots and shorts or something, or
• 28:03
Speaker 1: possibly just boots, they said, just boots digging up a
• 28:06
Speaker 1: fence post. Like this is two o'clock in the morning
• 28:08
Speaker 1: in Colorado in November.
• 28:10
Speaker 2: I mean it's chilly, yes, Like what make you shovel up?
• 28:14
Speaker 2: Probably don't email shorts to hold nothing.
• 28:16
Speaker 1: In at that even if you're dressed properly for the weather.
• 28:19
Speaker 1: We shouldn't be outside digging up a fence post at
• 28:21
Speaker 1: two o'clock in the morning. They also found that Brent
• 28:24
Speaker 1: and Carolyn slept in different rooms. The house had been
• 28:28
Speaker 1: purchased as a wedding present by Brent's parents, but they
• 28:32
Speaker 1: did not actually sleep together, so I don't think it
• 28:35
Speaker 1: was a real wedding. Again, there was some mental health
• 28:39
Speaker 1: issues in this involvement with this, so the family just
• 28:43
Speaker 1: kind of, you know, bought this for as a present,
• 28:45
Speaker 1: just to help out Brent. If things weren't odd enough.
• 28:49
Speaker 1: Brent actually called into a local news station to talk
• 28:52
Speaker 1: to them about him being a suspect. So he just
• 28:54
Speaker 1: voluntarily calls into this new station a dummy and says,
• 28:58
Speaker 1: I can't believe they think I'm a suspect, blah blah blah,
• 29:02
Speaker 1: and they have the whole thing recorded. Again, this is
• 29:04
Speaker 1: just odd behavior. Investigators start looking at how he could
• 29:08
Speaker 1: possibly have made it from Colorado to Alabama. They did
• 29:11
Speaker 1: not have any records that he had flown, and the
• 29:13
Speaker 1: drive would take about twenty plus hours, so they need
• 29:16
Speaker 1: to figure out how he would have been able to
• 29:17
Speaker 1: do this on his own in a short period of time. Yes,
• 29:22
Speaker 1: he had, Yeah, he had mental health issues and he
• 29:25
Speaker 1: kind of this. Caroline Scout is a whole nother She
• 29:29
  Speaker 1: has a whole life that's just sketchy, but we'll we'll
• 29:33
Speaker 1: go into it later on at the in the podcast.
• 29:35
Speaker 1: But because I don't want to give away the whole
• 29:37
Speaker 1: story right now, but.
• 29:39
Speaker 2: Why you want to be able to keep listening.
• 29:41
Speaker 1: Yes, she's she's her own, her own whole.
• 29:47
Speaker 2: Story there, Yes, whole podcast on Carolyn. Yes, Carolyn out
• 29:52
Speaker 2: of the blue. I guess she volunteers to go back
• 29:55
Speaker 2: to the police station to answer questions along with her attorney.
• 30:00
Speaker 2: Carolyn got lawyered up. I'm guessing that this is not
• 30:04
Speaker 2: a spur of the moment volunteer thing. The lawyerd explained
• 30:08
Speaker 2: the police that Carolyn had anxiety issues and that it
• 30:12
Speaker 2: can sometimes affect her memory, but if they ask her
• 30:15
Speaker 2: very direct questions in small time frames, she might be
• 30:19
Speaker 2: able to recall more details.
• 30:20
Speaker 1: Drink, Carolyn's a liar. I'm just going to tell you
• 30:24
Speaker 1: that you think, yes, Carolyn is is a manipulative person.
• 30:31
Speaker 1: And as we go through this and explain.
• 30:33
Speaker 2: This, she was like, She's about to go down. Somehow
• 30:38
Speaker 2: they've attracted back to this.
• 30:41
Speaker 1: What I'm saying, Right, So.
• 30:41
Speaker 2: I'm going to get a lawyer and I'm going to
• 30:43
  Speaker 2: go down and.
• 30:44
Speaker 1: Never I think she was involved with this, but don't
• 30:47
Speaker 1: feel sorry for, Like she's just some like sad lady
• 30:52
Speaker 1: in the world I'm talking about the listeners. Do don't
• 30:55
Speaker 1: feel sorry for right now that she's some like sad
• 30:57
Speaker 1: lady with an anxiety that's married to a murder and
• 31:01
Speaker 1: all this stuff, and she's it's actually quite different.
• 31:06
Speaker 2: Well we know because she already told Plice that he
• 31:08
Speaker 2: was there all week, Yes, except for one day when
• 31:10
Speaker 2: he went to his friend's house.
• 31:11
Speaker 1: Okay, well she's about to change her story.
• 31:13
Speaker 2: Yes, we know, do you we already see that.
• 31:18
Speaker 1: We already see that.
• 31:20
Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, if she's having trouble with small time frames
• 31:24
  Speaker 2: or whatever.
• 31:24
Speaker 1: She's claiming that she's having trouble remembering and that if
• 31:28
Speaker 1: they ask her very specifically in front of her lawyer,
• 31:30
Speaker 1: she might be able to recall some things.
• 31:32
Speaker 2: Yes, so she's not going to go down there and
• 31:34
Speaker 2: get no trap, but no investigator. She's going down there
• 31:37
Speaker 2: with the Laura was prepared. Uh it came with.
• 31:39
  Speaker 1: This bullshit anxiety.
• 31:41
Speaker 2: Yes, defense police ask Carolyn when was the last time
• 31:45
Speaker 2: she saw her husband that week? She tells him that
• 31:47
Speaker 2: it was on Monday, and then they police say it
• 31:51
Speaker 2: says if a light bulb went off on her head
• 31:53
Speaker 2: and she's like, oh, I remember I took him to
• 31:56
  Speaker 2: the bus station.
• 31:58
Speaker 1: So your anxiety made you forget that you took your
• 32:00
Speaker 1: husband to the bus station.
• 32:02
Speaker 2: And then how he got back and everything else. So
• 32:04
Speaker 2: red flags go off in the investigator's mind. They're like, Okay,
• 32:08
Speaker 2: some this is a bunch of bullshit. This might be
• 32:11
Speaker 2: how Brent actually made it to Alabama to commit the
• 32:14
Speaker 2: murder of his parents.
• 32:16
Speaker 1: Yeah, because Thanksgivings on a Thursday, and this was Monday's
• 32:19
Speaker 1: plenty of time. So they head to the Greyhound bus
• 32:21
Speaker 1: station in town and we're able to find video footage
• 32:24
Speaker 1: a Brent junior. He's just meandering in the parking lot outside.
• 32:28
Speaker 1: He did look very disheveled, like the kid said, he
• 32:31
Speaker 1: had long, scraggly hair. He was he went in laid
• 32:35
Speaker 1: down in the back of a truck in the parking
• 32:37
Speaker 1: lot for a couple hours. Just it wasn't his truck.
• 32:41
Speaker 2: It was just it looked like he was hired from
• 32:43
Speaker 2: the camera so he wouldn't be seen.
• 32:45
Speaker 1: No, I don't even think it was that, because he
• 32:47
Speaker 1: was right in front of the cameras, like just walking
• 32:49
Speaker 1: around the parking lot. I think he has mental health problems,
• 32:52
Speaker 1: like severe, so he's me in this truck parking lot
• 32:58
Speaker 1: or in this truck in the parking lot, lays down
• 32:59
Speaker 1: for a little while. He then pops up and heads
• 33:02
Speaker 1: over to a bus that had pulled up. He speaks
• 33:06
Speaker 1: to the bus driver and then boards the bus. They
• 33:09
Speaker 1: did not find a bus ticket under the name Brent Springford,
• 33:12
Speaker 1: but they did find an unconfirmed passenger under the name
• 33:16
Speaker 1: of Terry Chance. So they follow that passenger and he
• 33:19
Speaker 1: went from Greeley, Colorado, to Denver, to Nashville and then
• 33:23
Speaker 1: finally to Montgomery, Alabama. So I guess he just went
• 33:26
Speaker 1: and bought the ticket directly from the bus driver. I
• 33:28
Speaker 1: guess you can do that. I have no idea, and
• 33:31
Speaker 1: then you just have to give him a name.
• 33:33
  Speaker 2: I won't fly Sparrit Airlines. I definitely won't ride a
• 33:36
Speaker 2: greyhound bus cross country, so I'm not sure.
• 33:43
Speaker 1: I only know one person that rode a Greyhound bus.
• 33:45
Speaker 1: And who do you think that was?
• 33:46
Speaker 2: Your brother? Probably the one, the other one, the other brother.
• 33:53
Speaker 1: Yes, it's funny you knew exactly talking about riding the
• 33:58
Speaker 1: ground bus, not if there's anything wrong with Greyhound. But
• 34:01
Speaker 1: I won't be caught dead on one.
• 34:02
Speaker 2: If I am, you probably are dead in a suitcase.
• 34:08
Speaker 1: Being smuggled like Amy Bradley.
• 34:10
Speaker 2: You would be caught dead on a bus. Yeah.
• 34:13
Speaker 1: So, so they now have this track of this person
• 34:17
Speaker 1: making it all the way to Montgomery, Alabama. This would
• 34:20
Speaker 1: put that Terry chance fella aka Brent in Montgomery, Alabama
• 34:24
Speaker 1: at five thirty pm on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Now,
• 34:29
Speaker 1: while they are figuring out all of this information about
• 34:31
Speaker 1: the bus ride, that black Jaguar is located outside of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
• 34:36
Speaker 1: There was a bus ticket purchase from Tulsa back to
• 34:39
Speaker 1: back up to Denver and then to Greeley. And they
• 34:42
Speaker 1: were able to confirm that Brent Junior, that it was
• 34:45
Speaker 1: Brent Junior who did this. So he drove the car
• 34:48
Speaker 1: back to all the way to Tulsa and then hopped
• 34:50
Speaker 1: on a bus and just abandoned the vehicle. They were
• 34:53
Speaker 1: able to confirm that Brent Junior was in Montgomery, Alabama.
• 34:57
Speaker 1: As they were putting all this information together and they
• 34:59
Speaker 1: have timeline, they find out he did visit a hair
• 35:02
Speaker 1: salon while he was there and had his head basically
• 35:06
Speaker 1: shaved all the hair off and the hairstylist does remember
• 35:10
Speaker 1: him because he was just acting very odd.
• 35:14
  Speaker 2: Not Brent.
• 35:15
  Speaker 1: Not Brent.
• 35:17
Speaker 2: With this information, police obtain an arrest warrant on December eighth,
• 35:21
Speaker 2: two thousand and four. There was no rush, however, because
• 35:24
Speaker 2: Brent Junior was in a mental institution. After the arrest,
• 35:28
Speaker 2: they were able to find out that he developed mental
• 35:30
Speaker 2: health issues right after high school.
• 35:34
Speaker 1: Yeah, so he had checked himself into a mental institution
• 35:37
Speaker 1: when this was all going down. I'm guessing as time
• 35:41
Speaker 1: got closer than being caught, he went and checked himself in.
• 35:45
Speaker 2: I don't know if I was getting to him or
• 35:46
Speaker 2: if he was like, hey, checking into a mental institution
• 35:49
Speaker 2: will be a good escape.
• 35:51
Speaker 1: No, he was truly mentally ill.
• 35:54
Speaker 2: Do kind of like.
• 35:58
Speaker 1: Kind of like who.
• 36:01
  Speaker 2: You?
• 36:03
Speaker 1: Kind of like you.
• 36:04
Speaker 2: They bring Brent and speak to him again, and he
• 36:07
Speaker 2: decides to confess. After Brent's mental issue started, his parents
• 36:11
Speaker 2: paid for psychiatric care and all sorts of help for him.
• 36:16
Speaker 2: They also supported him financially, but as time went on
• 36:19
Speaker 2: they started having disagreements about that financial support. It finally
• 36:23
Speaker 2: came to a head when his father decided to cut
• 36:25
Speaker 2: him out of the will altogether and threatened to sell
• 36:28
Speaker 2: the home that he had purchased for him and his wife.
• 36:31
Speaker 1: Yes, he had gone to He had agreed to go
• 36:34
Speaker 1: to Vanderbilt University after high school and everything because he
• 36:37
Speaker 1: had good grades and everything like that. Plus he was
• 36:39
Speaker 1: rich that definitely could get in. And he only made
• 36:42
Speaker 1: it like a semester or two or something and he
• 36:44
Speaker 1: dropped out. And that's when he really went off the
• 36:46
Speaker 1: deep end. He moved to he got into like all
• 36:50
Speaker 1: the spiritual stuff. He moved to Wyoming where that's where
• 36:54
Speaker 1: he met that Carolyn Scout. She's like Native American, so
• 36:56
Speaker 1: she was trying to show him like this ritual side.
• 37:01
Speaker 1: But she was actually a scam artist. She had claimed
• 37:04
Speaker 1: she was abused and stuff and collect all of this
• 37:06
Speaker 1: money to start a abuse center like a safety center
• 37:10
Speaker 1: for Native American women, and then never did it. So
• 37:13
Speaker 1: she basically scammed people pocketed. She's a grifter, she scams people.
• 37:18
Speaker 1: And then she kind of latched onto Brent. She saw
• 37:20
Speaker 1: an opening with his mental health problems.
• 37:26
Speaker 2: Well, Caroline, Carolyn, Carolyn had encouraged him to speak to
• 37:33
Speaker 2: his parents and that's why she took him with the bust.
• 37:35
Speaker 1: This is what Brent's telling the police that she encouraged
• 37:38
Speaker 1: him to speak to her parents because.
• 37:40
Speaker 2: As she's confessing this, this is his confession.
• 37:42
Speaker 1: Yeah, she's manipulating him. I believe she manipulated. They have
• 37:46
Speaker 1: no proof that she did, but she's a scam artist.
• 37:49
Speaker 2: So yeah, it seems like she put all this in
• 37:52
Speaker 2: his mind to send him down there. Brent Junior arrives
• 37:55
Speaker 2: at the home the night before and he just hangs
• 37:57
Speaker 2: out there until his parents come home, and then he
• 38:00
Speaker 2: attacks him. He said. He killed his father first while
• 38:03
Speaker 2: his mother was downstairs, and that's why he was dragged
• 38:07
Speaker 2: into the closet to hide his body so that his
• 38:10
Speaker 2: mother would not be aware as she walked up the stairs.
• 38:13
Speaker 1: Oh, Stu was right, he said, I think she. I
• 38:15
Speaker 1: think he moved the rug to cover the blood up.
• 38:17
Speaker 2: So my mom wouldn't realize. She wouldn't notice right away,
• 38:21
  Speaker 2: it wouldn't be.
• 38:22
Speaker 1: Well, maybe it was covering up better. Maybe it got
• 38:25
Speaker 1: moved in the thing because the construction workers saw it immediately.
• 38:29
Speaker 2: Well it was daylight, it was probably dark one.
• 38:31
Speaker 1: Yeah, this is true. Coming up the stairs.
• 38:33
Speaker 2: Now, when he attacked his mother, she put up a
• 38:36
Speaker 2: very big fight, he said, And that's why there was
• 38:38
Speaker 2: such a scene of struggle in the bedroom. He then
• 38:41
Speaker 2: staged the scene as if it was a robbery, and
• 38:44
Speaker 2: that's why the house was completely torn apart. He then
• 38:47
Speaker 2: stole the Jaguar, drove it to Tulsa, and got on
• 38:51
Speaker 2: the greyhound bus to go back home.
• 38:53
Speaker 1: Yes, now, Brent Junior was arrested for the double homicide.
• 38:59
Speaker 1: He did plead insanity. However, a psychiatrist believes that he
• 39:03
Speaker 1: knew what he was doing. And this goes into like
• 39:05
Speaker 1: I said, he did have severe mental health issues, but
• 39:08
Speaker 1: this was so premeditated. Normally you for to get the
• 39:13
Speaker 1: insanity defense, it has to be like a snap in
• 39:15
Speaker 1: the moment yes decision. This is cannot be. You literally
• 39:20
Speaker 1: went on a greyhound bus, You rode for twenty plus hours,
• 39:24
Speaker 1: You changed bus stations multiple times. You got your hair
• 39:27
Speaker 1: cut in town to prepare for to change your parent yes,
• 39:31
Speaker 1: to change your appearance. You stole the car, you drove
• 39:34
Speaker 1: all the way to Tulsa, you got on another bus
• 39:37
Speaker 1: and got back home. This was not a I just snapped,
• 39:43
Speaker 1: because if you snapped, then you would go You wouldn't
• 39:45
Speaker 1: think of all these ways to cover it up either
• 39:46
Speaker 1: on your way back.
• 39:47
Speaker 2: I mean, he's trying to say he was insane. All
• 39:49
Speaker 2: along and whatever. Temporary insanity is just that you.
• 39:53
Speaker 1: Snapped, yes, but he is he isn't he is?
• 39:57
Speaker 2: But it was premeditated insanity. I guess, yeah, okay, can
• 40:01
  Speaker 2: you have that.
• 40:02
Speaker 1: I don't know, Stu. Premeditated insanity.
• 40:06
Speaker 2: Well, you've premeditated that. You're just mentally ill, because you're
• 40:09
  Speaker 2: that mentally ill.
• 40:10
Speaker 1: I don't know. Well, it didn't work because his lawyers
• 40:15
Speaker 1: pleaded with the prosecution for a plea deal. Pleaded with
• 40:18
Speaker 1: the cons that's some awesome. They begged, yes, they begged
• 40:22
Speaker 1: for a plea deal. They were like please, So they decided.
• 40:25
Speaker 1: The prosecution decides to speak with Robinson. She was the
• 40:28
Speaker 1: only surviving family member, and after a lot of discussion,
• 40:31
Speaker 1: they decided to a plea agreement. Now, Brent was sentenced
• 40:35
Speaker 1: to life in prison without a chance at parol in
• 40:36
Speaker 1: two thousand and eight, but in twenty thirteen he overdosed
• 40:40
Speaker 1: in prison at the age of thirty seven and passed away.
• 40:43
Speaker 1: So they don't cover it in the show. But if
• 40:45
Speaker 1: you start reading up about Caroline Scout, you see what
• 40:48
Speaker 1: a scammar she was. She basically found Brent. She was
• 40:52
Speaker 1: this older woman with these three children. She saw him
• 40:56
Speaker 1: as a prime you know, person to manipulate. He had
• 41:00
Speaker 1: a bunch of money behind him. So basically she got
• 41:02
Speaker 1: her house, she got they the parents just sent money
• 41:06
Speaker 1: after money, just try to keep their.
• 41:07
Speaker 2: Son trying to keep that coming in.
• 41:10
Speaker 1: Yeah. So anyway, so she was worried about this being
• 41:13
Speaker 1: cut off and then what's the point of being around
• 41:15
Speaker 1: Brent and everything? And so I believe she to go
• 41:20
Speaker 1: kill kill Yeah, because apparently Brent decided to be celibate
• 41:25
Speaker 1: at some point. That's why they slept in separate room
• 41:27
Speaker 1: before he met her. I mean, but she was an
• 41:29
Speaker 1: older woman and not I'm not an old not older
• 41:33
  Speaker 1: than you.
• 41:35
Speaker 2: You're an you're an older woman to somebody.
• 41:39
Speaker 1: Okay, Well, anyway, so they just were not in that
• 41:42
Speaker 1: type of relationship. It almost seemed like mother son type
• 41:49
Speaker 1: thing rather than partners or whatever. So anyway, she needed
• 41:54
Speaker 1: this gravy train to keep going. I'm sure she thought,
• 41:55
Speaker 1: maybe they haven't changed the will yet, so you need
• 41:57
Speaker 1: to go kill them before they changed the will, because
• 41:59
  Speaker 1: they rich.
• 42:00
Speaker 2: Very rich, So yeah, you gotta stay in that. Well,
• 42:03
Speaker 2: my man, keep us on the in the lifestyle we.
• 42:07
Speaker 1: Have because they weren't making any money, so there was
• 42:10
Speaker 1: no way for them to support. They were the parents
• 42:12
Speaker 1: just and apparently it was also he had trouble in
• 42:15
Speaker 1: high school and they it almost I don't know if
• 42:19
Speaker 1: this is true or not. So allegedly they kind of
• 42:23
Speaker 1: let him do what he wanted, so there wasn't a
• 42:25
Speaker 1: lot of discipline. There was a lot of drugs and
• 42:27
Speaker 1: alcohol use by the by the son, and the parents
• 42:30
Speaker 1: didn't really discipline him. They just very very murdochy.
• 42:34
Speaker 2: Of them, just let him run wild.
• 42:37
Speaker 1: Yes, it is what they say. I don't know if
• 42:40
Speaker 1: that's true. That's alleged. All right, we've had to cut
• 42:43
Speaker 1: out multiple inappropriate sides, so we're gonna end on that note.
• 42:49
Speaker 1: St Do you have a yelling Jesus?
• 42:50
Speaker 2: Of course I have. I've had him stacked up because
• 42:53
Speaker 2: they're just in the last couple of weeks.
• 42:54
Speaker 1: They're just a lot of things.
• 42:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, they're just bubbling up to the surface.
• 42:57
Speaker 1: A lot of stupidity in the world.
• 42:59
Speaker 2: Yes, I had like or four I was trying to
• 43:00
Speaker 2: decide between whenever the cold Play thing popped up, and
• 43:05
Speaker 2: by the time that.
• 43:06
Speaker 1: Hit, people have moved on from the cold Play though
• 43:09
Speaker 1: it's old news on TikTok now it was.
• 43:12
Speaker 2: Probably way old news whenever we talked about it. By
• 43:15
Speaker 2: the time the episode dropped, it was probably like ancient
• 43:20
Speaker 2: and social media years. I'm sorry, am I boring you?
• 43:23
  Speaker 1: You're boring me?
• 43:25
  Speaker 2: Wow? All right?
• 43:26
Speaker 1: She was saying that because I had a complete meltdown
• 43:29
Speaker 1: with him because he yawned the other day on when
• 43:32
Speaker 1: we were recording any and he said, you're boring me,
• 43:37
Speaker 1: and I lost my ship on him, so we had
• 43:39
Speaker 1: to cut bost that out.
• 43:40
Speaker 2: But yes, last episode that was.
• 43:45
Speaker 1: Sometimes sometimes the last episode recorder that was on the
• 43:51
  Speaker 1: shoot the Pooh.
• 43:51
Speaker 2: No, I think it was.
• 43:52
Speaker 1: It was on the Shoot the Poo. It was Monday.
• 43:54
  Speaker 1: I was tired.
• 43:56
Speaker 2: You're always cranky. But which leads perfectly dovetails right into
• 44:04
Speaker 2: this yell need Jesus because this is about a woman
• 44:08
Speaker 2: who just does woman stuff.
• 44:12
Speaker 1: This is the story of a girl required a river
• 44:15
Speaker 1: and drown the whole world.
• 44:17
Speaker 2: Nope, nope, stop place. Associated Press January sixth, twenty nineteen AP.
• 44:25
Speaker 1: For those that are in the.
• 44:26
Speaker 2: Note, woman sent one hundred and fifty nine thousand texts
• 44:33
Speaker 2: to a man she met on a dating site. Wow
• 44:37
Speaker 2: Florida or not Florida, not Florida, Arizona, Phoenix ap A
• 44:45
Speaker 2: woman accused of stalking a man that she met on
• 44:48
Speaker 2: a dating site and sent him more than sixty five
• 44:52
  Speaker 2: thousand text messages.
• 44:55
Speaker 1: Apparently you said one hundred and fifty nine thousand.
• 44:58
Speaker 2: Well, they said it was six sixty five thousand, but
• 45:01
Speaker 2: apparently sent more than twice that many. Jacqueline Aids ades
• 45:08
Speaker 2: I guess sent a man more than one hundred and
• 45:10
Speaker 2: fifty nine thousand text messages, some of which were threatening,
• 45:13
Speaker 2: over the course of nearly ten months, According to police
• 45:16
Speaker 2: records the Arizona Republic attained via a public records request,
• 45:22
Speaker 2: the two went on a single date. Women, bitches be crazy.
• 45:28
Speaker 2: I am all right. The man, whose name has not been released,
• 45:32
Speaker 2: called the police after he found Aids parked outside his
• 45:36
Speaker 2: home in July twenty seventeen.
• 45:38
Speaker 1: Okay, I did the math for you guys, because I
• 45:40
Speaker 1: need to know. This is about five hundred and thirty
• 45:42
Speaker 1: text on average per day for ten months.
• 45:45
Speaker 2: Paradise Valley officers escorted her office property, and that's when
• 45:49
Speaker 2: police say Aids began threatening the man. One text read,
• 45:53
Speaker 2: I'd make sushi out of your kidneys and chopsticks out
• 45:56
  Speaker 2: of your handbones.

  Speaker 1: Ooh nice burn.
• 46:00
Speaker 2: Mm hmm. Aids was okay, had a damn ad pop
• 46:05
Speaker 2: up in my story here. She was arrested for trespassing
• 46:09
Speaker 2: inside his home while he was out of the country.
• 46:12
Speaker 2: Aids has pleaded not get guilty to the charges of
• 46:14
Speaker 2: stalking and criminal trespassing. Her trial was scheduled to begin
• 46:19
  Speaker 2: February fifth.
• 46:21
Speaker 1: I don't care what you know. How many women get
• 46:25
Speaker 1: stalked by men every day and they murder them? So
• 46:28
Speaker 1: what you get a little taste of your own medicine.
• 46:34
Speaker 1: What I'm just saying, one man gets quits, gets a
• 46:39
Speaker 1: little one woman that's a little active on the text,
• 46:42
Speaker 1: and all of a sudden, people are getting arrested. Poor
• 46:44
Speaker 1: women are out there like, hey, he keeps hating pitting
• 46:47
Speaker 1: roses at my door. Can you do anything? Nope, He's
• 46:49
Speaker 1: gotta harm you first before we can do anything.
• 46:52
Speaker 2: Was she actually trespassed in his home?
• 46:53
Speaker 1: So okay? Well, I feel like women have to prove
• 46:56
Speaker 1: the guy basically has to murder the woman before she
• 46:58
Speaker 1: can get any help. And this guy's a little my
• 47:01
  Speaker 1: Taylor Swift.
• 47:02
Speaker 2: She can get people arrested on the drop of a dime.
• 47:05
Speaker 1: Who did she get arrested?
• 47:06
Speaker 2: I don't know whoever was stalking herd stock her.
• 47:10
Speaker 1: I don't know. It's hard for celebrities even to get
• 47:12
Speaker 1: them if they don't do anything. If they stay the distance,
• 47:15
Speaker 1: they can get restraining orders, but they can't do anything
• 47:17
Speaker 1: with them being in the vicinity of that.
• 47:20
Speaker 2: I think he actually broke into her house.
• 47:22
Speaker 1: And yes, they usually have to do something. But I'm
• 47:24
Speaker 1: just saying, like women every day are getting stalked by
• 47:27
Speaker 1: men and nobody does anything about it.
• 47:30
Speaker 2: Well, I got stalked by you. I just ended up
• 47:32
Speaker 2: dating you. Just quit stalking me.
• 47:34
Speaker 1: Okay, man stalked by a woman produces three children, just
• 47:44
  Speaker 1: does podcast?
• 47:46
Speaker 2: Yes, did not have that on my bingo card as the.
• 47:49
Speaker 1: Kids, Well here we are didn't either, all right, so
• 47:52
Speaker 1: that is our episode of a week. Okay. So I'm
• 47:54
Speaker 1: gonna do the coffee recipe real quick. So I do
• 47:56
Speaker 1: two shots. So I do some honey in the bottom
• 47:58
Speaker 1: of the the cup, and then I do two shots
• 48:03
Speaker 1: of espresso and then star that up because that'll get
• 48:05
Speaker 1: the honey. You don't want to put the cold in
• 48:07
Speaker 1: because it'll the honey won't dissolve, So start that up.
• 48:11
Speaker 1: Then add ice you do. And this is probably in
• 48:14
Speaker 1: a I use like a mason jarnt how many those
• 48:17
Speaker 1: are probably twelve ounces or something, so something like that.
• 48:20
Speaker 1: Put some ice in there. Do half oat milk? Okay,
• 48:26
Speaker 1: go ahead, half oat milk, and I like the creamy
• 48:29
Speaker 1: Barista one in the brand is what's that brand?
• 48:35
  Speaker 2: Oatly?
• 48:35
Speaker 1: No, it's not Oatly.
• 48:38
Speaker 2: Milkley No, it's like oat Lovers.
• 48:41
Speaker 1: Or something like that. Anyways, it's orange and it says
• 48:43
Speaker 1: Barista style, so it's like extra creamy.
• 48:46
Speaker 2: You're gonna probably have to put this on the website now.
• 48:48
Speaker 1: Anyways, half the oat milk, half regular milk, and then
• 48:52
Speaker 1: a splash of the Chobani sweet cream creamer h perfection,
• 48:59
  Speaker 1: per affections.
• 49:00
Speaker 2: Do is it? Yes?
• 49:02
Speaker 1: Give her a good stir, drink it up.
• 49:06
Speaker 2: That sounds like that could be an aporno or making
• 49:09
  Speaker 2: a coffee.
• 49:13
