- 0:31What's going on, everybody?
- 0:33It's lunch hour here at the
- 0:35Sweats are household, so coming down,
- 0:39hanging out with my friends
- 0:39here on the podcast.
- 0:43Some topics for today,
- 0:44we're going to talk about
- 0:45some TV shows of the fall.
- 0:47We're going to talk about
- 0:50the Caroline Lambre clip
- 0:51that's going around.
- 0:52I actually watched the full
- 0:54interview to get it in its context,
- 0:59and I do have some thoughts about that.
- 1:02um and we're gonna talk
- 1:04about some other stuff as
- 1:07well uh my birthday dinner
- 1:09with my wife last night not
- 1:10my birthday her birthday
- 1:11dinner uh last night and
- 1:14then a couple other like
- 1:15just uh quick little
- 1:16hitters uh to finish off
- 1:18the lunch but um I'm gonna
- 1:20start with uh the birthday
- 1:22lunch birthday dinner gosh
- 1:25can't speak today I gotta
- 1:27tell you like doing this alone is like
- 1:31hardest thing for me right
- 1:32now I'm really trying to
- 1:34kind of make this
- 1:36comfortable for myself I'm
- 1:38really going outside the
- 1:39box doing these alone shows
- 1:42uh we got judy and jody in
- 1:44the chat good to see both of you today
- 1:47There's Lex.
- 1:48But I'm really trying to get
- 1:49comfortable just doing
- 1:50these alone shows where if
- 1:53there's something that
- 1:54breaks and I need to get on really quick,
- 1:56I'm comfortable doing that.
- 1:58But doing these lunch shows
- 1:59is just helping me kind of
- 2:00dip my toes in the water to do that.
- 2:04But anyway,
- 2:04I'm going to start with the
- 2:06dinner I took my wife on last night.
- 2:09The way it worked is...
- 2:11it's a local restaurant in
- 2:12delaware ohio which is
- 2:14about ten miles north of
- 2:15where I live um and because
- 2:17columbus is so chaotic uh
- 2:20for my wife and I it's
- 2:21better to go to this
- 2:22neighboring town north of
- 2:23us if we're gonna go
- 2:24shopping or go out to eat
- 2:26and it's a quaint little
- 2:27smaller town and we really
- 2:29enjoy it much more than
- 2:31going into the city uh for
- 2:33any of that stuff um so
- 2:37Really love going up there.
- 2:39Our favorite restaurant is
- 2:40called The Backstretch.
- 2:42Delaware is known for sulky racing.
- 2:47It's a horse racing with a
- 2:49carriage behind it.
- 2:51And they compete there every
- 2:53fall for the Little Brown Jug.
- 2:56And so a lot of the stuff
- 2:57there is themed based on that.
- 3:01And that's what the backstretch is.
- 3:03So anyway,
- 3:04I'm on their email list and they
- 3:06do these special events all the time.
- 3:09And this was going to be a
- 3:11holiday four-course meal
- 3:13with a cocktail sampling
- 3:19paired with each course.
- 3:21And you bought a table.
- 3:24Um,
- 3:25and so I bought a table so my wife and I,
- 3:29and two friends could go
- 3:30hang out and for her
- 3:31birthday and do this.
- 3:33And we had the most fun time doing it.
- 3:37Um,
- 3:37the chef of the restaurant came out on
- 3:41each course,
- 3:42explained why the food and
- 3:44the cocktail paired together.
- 3:46Um, and, uh, it was, it was delicious.
- 3:51So I have a couple pictures
- 3:52that I've put out on social media.
- 3:54I'm going to share that real
- 3:55quick just so you can kind of see.
- 3:57And when we got there, you'll see here,
- 4:01there was an envelope on
- 4:03each one of our place
- 4:04settings with our name on it.
- 4:06And when you opened it up,
- 4:08it actually had the menu for the evening.
- 4:11And then behind it was every
- 4:13cocktail that was coming
- 4:15with the recipe for the cocktail.
- 4:18um and you can see here that
- 4:19the menu was it started
- 4:21with a charcuterie board um
- 4:24and it came with a porto
- 4:25flip spinach salad which
- 4:27was a cranberry refresher
- 4:28was a cocktail and then
- 4:29beef oscar and a twice
- 4:31baked potato that came with
- 4:33a holiday bourbon punch and
- 4:34then a flourless chocolate
- 4:35cake I came with a raspberry margarita
- 4:41this was the Chuck charcuterie board, uh,
- 4:44very small.
- 4:44Each person got one of these.
- 4:46Uh, there were two stuffed peppers.
- 4:48Um, there were some meats and cheeses.
- 4:50Um,
- 4:50and then that was homemade focaccia
- 4:53bread.
- 4:53And it was, it was pretty small.
- 4:55It was, um, just enough to like,
- 4:58you could have like a
- 4:58little corner of it with
- 5:00like a piece of meat or a
- 5:00piece of cheese.
- 5:02Um, but it was, it had to be whole grain.
- 5:04It, it, it had like seeds and stuff in it,
- 5:08uh, that really gave it kind of a,
- 5:12hearty flavor to it but it
- 5:14was really good and then
- 5:16the next course which I did
- 5:18not get a picture of was a
- 5:19spinach salad that had a
- 5:24they made their own
- 5:25balsamic vinaigrette that
- 5:26went over the top it had
- 5:27pomegranate seeds blue cheese bacon and
- 5:32it was probably the best
- 5:34course of the night um I
- 5:36could have I could have
- 5:37eaten like eighteen of
- 5:39those salads it was so good
- 5:41um and actually the the
- 5:43chef described it as it's
- 5:44their holiday salad every
- 5:46year uh they put this out
- 5:48on the table with their uh
- 5:50their family dinner um and
- 5:52it's a salad they use for
- 5:53that and that's why they
- 5:54wanted to share it at this tasting
- 5:59This was the bourbon punch
- 6:02that they put out.
- 6:05That's rosemary and two
- 6:06whole cranberries in there.
- 6:10And what was nice is there
- 6:12were small samples of the cocktails.
- 6:14So didn't get too buzzed up
- 6:18on it or anything like that.
- 6:19It was really just to pair
- 6:21it with the food and to see
- 6:22how it reacted.
- 6:24and then this was the uh the
- 6:26beef oscar and you can see
- 6:28uh there's crab meat over
- 6:29the top with a homemade
- 6:31hollandaise sauce
- 6:33underneath that is a bernet
- 6:36sauce and then a twice
- 6:38baked potato and it was it
- 6:42was really delicious
- 6:48And then the dessert was
- 6:51these little mini flourless
- 6:52cakes with a small scoop of
- 6:56ice cream to kind of finish
- 6:58off the evening.
- 7:02And it was, what was amazing about this,
- 7:04this came with the raspberry margarita.
- 7:07And at first taste of the
- 7:09raspberry margarita, it was very citrusy,
- 7:12very acidy.
- 7:14But if you actually sipped
- 7:15it with a piece of cake,
- 7:17all that went away and it
- 7:19really smoothed it out.
- 7:21It was really interesting to
- 7:22kind of see all that, but yeah.
- 7:24My wife, most importantly,
- 7:25my wife loved the evening.
- 7:27We were there for probably
- 7:30two and a half hours for
- 7:31the four courses.
- 7:33And we got to hang out with
- 7:35two of our best friends in
- 7:36the world and just got to
- 7:38chat and hang out.
- 7:42And the experience was
- 7:43awesome as well as the
- 7:45service and everybody just
- 7:47telling stories.
- 7:48It was a really great time
- 7:49to spend her birthday.
- 7:50And today is actually her birthday.
- 7:53And so happy birthday to my wife.
- 7:55It's really cool.
- 8:00Jay Burch asked,
- 8:01I was about to ask how the
- 8:02pairing made it.
- 8:03The pairings were really cool.
- 8:05And that was really fun to
- 8:07kind of experience because
- 8:07I've never done anything like that.
- 8:09This is very out of the box for us.
- 8:14So it was a fun experience.
- 8:16One that we will probably
- 8:17try again in the future.
- 8:21Alex asks, is there surgery coming up?
- 8:23This is great for her to enjoy this.
- 8:25It is.
- 8:26We haven't been able to do a
- 8:27lot of stuff outside the
- 8:28house because her ability
- 8:30to walk around is almost gone.
- 8:33But her surgery is coming up
- 8:35January sixth.
- 8:36So we just got to get
- 8:37through the holidays and then she will...
- 8:41have that surgery.
- 8:42She'll have a new knee on her bat,
- 8:43the worst of the two knees,
- 8:46and then we'll get that rehabbed.
- 8:48Then she'll go in and have
- 8:49the second knee done.
- 8:50And hopefully she will, um,
- 8:53be up and running, um, around again.
- 8:56Uh, but she's super excited about that.
- 9:00Judy asked, what surgery?
- 9:01My wife is having a total
- 9:03knee replacement done on
- 9:07her left knee January six.
- 9:10We have been fighting
- 9:11insurance companies for
- 9:12about three years.
- 9:15because her age is she's
- 9:18fairly young to have this
- 9:19done um but she played
- 9:23volleyball a lot as a child
- 9:25and she was a big time
- 9:25runner and the running
- 9:28really damaged her knees up
- 9:30really bad um and it made
- 9:32it so that she couldn't be
- 9:34very active and it's caused
- 9:35a lot of problems we've
- 9:37been fighting and fighting
- 9:38and we were on her
- 9:39insurance for a couple years which
- 9:42I'm was Blue Cross Blue
- 9:43Shield and they were denying everything.
- 9:46This July,
- 9:47we switched back to my insurance,
- 9:49which is Ohio Med Plus with
- 9:51the state of Ohio.
- 9:53They've approved it immediately.
- 9:55And we are in our we're
- 9:58sailing smooth sailing to
- 9:59the surgery on January six
- 10:02and can't wait for all of that.
- 10:04So.
- 10:05Um, yeah,
- 10:07she's been in a lot of pain for a
- 10:09long time and it's going to
- 10:10be great that she finally
- 10:11gets that relief.
- 10:16Uh, Jay Birch says, good for y'all.
- 10:18We always try to do a four
- 10:18course meal for anniversary,
- 10:20which is coming up in two weeks,
- 10:21December thirty first.
- 10:23how does that work for you Jay Burch?
- 10:24Because my wife's birthday is today,
- 10:26which is exactly one week
- 10:28before Christmas.
- 10:30Um,
- 10:30and then my birthday is exactly one
- 10:32week after Christmas.
- 10:33So mine is January first.
- 10:35So in a two week span,
- 10:37we do all the celebrating, uh,
- 10:39for the year.
- 10:41And then thank goodness we
- 10:42were smart enough to get married in may,
- 10:45um, to kind of break that up.
- 10:46But yeah, we,
- 10:49we do a lot of celebrating in
- 10:50a couple of weeks.
- 10:55Alex S about the denial.
- 10:58I don't want to get into much of a rant,
- 10:59but they denied for just
- 11:00about everything.
- 11:02Every time we would clear another hurdle,
- 11:04they would deny it for something else.
- 11:06It was just crazy.
- 11:11And we haven't hardly used
- 11:13our insurance ever.
- 11:14And then for them to keep
- 11:19denying it was just ridiculous.
- 11:21But anyway,
- 11:23we're on the flip side of that.
- 11:26We are totally approved.
- 11:27We have the approval letter in writing.
- 11:29And it is happening January
- 11:30sixth for sure.
- 11:34So, yeah.
- 11:38That is our dinner last night.
- 11:42And then for lunch today,
- 11:44I will make for my wife
- 11:45whatever she wants.
- 11:46She's actually working from home today.
- 11:48So as soon as this is over,
- 11:49I'll go upstairs and cook
- 11:50whatever she wants for lunch.
- 11:52Don't know what that is yet
- 11:53because she has not given me her request.
- 11:58Um, uh,
- 12:00before we get into the top shows
- 12:02and the worst show of the fall, uh,
- 12:04I want to get into a little
- 12:06bit of the Carolyn Lambre thing.
- 12:08I'm only going to briefly
- 12:09touch on this because again,
- 12:11these shows are going to be appetizers.
- 12:14I'm not going to get into a full, um, uh,
- 12:18I'm not going to get into
- 12:19full debate about this yet.
- 12:21Uh, those are for our shows,
- 12:23our Sunday night show and
- 12:24our Thursday show.
- 12:27Um,
- 12:29so what what I'm going to
- 12:31say is I saw the clips that
- 12:34went wild with carolyn
- 12:35lambre on the savan show
- 12:37and dense updates posted as
- 12:39well other people are
- 12:40posting on social media I
- 12:42would just implore you to
- 12:44go watch the entire thing
- 12:46and not make a judgment
- 12:47based on just that clip um
- 12:53so I watched the whole thing
- 12:57don't believe she was saying
- 12:58what is being implied at
- 13:00all um I think that there
- 13:02is a lot going on in her
- 13:04head um as well as a lot of
- 13:06the elite athletes um right
- 13:09now because there are two
- 13:12options out there kind of
- 13:13the wfp the crossfit game
- 13:15season there is very little
- 13:16information about either of
- 13:18them um they're really
- 13:20trying to get it all into
- 13:21their head what is the best
- 13:23route for them
- 13:26Um,
- 13:26and she is in a spot where she owns an
- 13:29affiliate and she's the
- 13:31coach of an elite athlete.
- 13:32And that puts her,
- 13:33gives her two different
- 13:34perspectives and both that
- 13:36she has to figure out what
- 13:38is best for her in each situation.
- 13:41And so.
- 13:45The interview goes on.
- 13:46It's an hour and forty two minutes.
- 13:49They talk about a lot more
- 13:50than that ten second clip.
- 13:53And and again,
- 13:54we will get into this more
- 13:56on our Sunday night
- 13:57CrossFit talk show or and
- 13:59maybe even the roundtable tomorrow.
- 14:01But I know that.
- 14:02That Carolyn and Jamie
- 14:06probably have some things
- 14:07to say about this,
- 14:08and we'll talk about that then.
- 14:12The other thing I'm going to
- 14:13say is that I have my notes here.
- 14:21she makes a lot of great points.
- 14:23The CrossFit game season
- 14:24does change every single
- 14:26year and that has to change.
- 14:28And,
- 14:28and she even suggests maybe taking a
- 14:30year off to figure it out.
- 14:33Uh, um,
- 14:34and she uses the example of Jaguar
- 14:36taking a year off of production, um, to,
- 14:40to rethink how they're
- 14:41going to do their car.
- 14:42Um,
- 14:44And she suggests maybe a
- 14:45uniform layout that is the
- 14:48standard CrossFit floor.
- 14:49And that if gyms want to put it in,
- 14:51that's their choice.
- 14:53But it gives a place where
- 14:54people can go to do things
- 14:56in the more advanced stages
- 14:58of the CrossFit game season.
- 15:01She had a lot of interesting things.
- 15:02And she even says in the
- 15:03interview that she likes to
- 15:05pose questions and she
- 15:07doesn't often always have the answers.
- 15:09But she likes to question
- 15:10things in that area.
- 15:12in that vein the other thing
- 15:14I'm going to say is there
- 15:15seems to be a lot of fight
- 15:16over what is a professional
- 15:17athlete and I don't I
- 15:19really don't think any of
- 15:20that matters if you're
- 15:21doing this at an elite
- 15:23level and you're trying to
- 15:24make money that is fine you
- 15:26know what we define you as
- 15:28professional or not really
- 15:29doesn't matter in the end
- 15:31of it right it is that
- 15:32there are elite athletes
- 15:35trying to compete at a
- 15:37level win some prize money
- 15:39and become the fittest on earth
- 15:41Whatever we call that, we call that.
- 15:44Whether you call it a career,
- 15:46whether you call it professional,
- 15:47whether you call it elite,
- 15:50who gives a shit, honestly?
- 15:52Like, I don't care.
- 15:54But there are a group of
- 15:55athletes that do that.
- 15:58And then the other point I'm going to make,
- 16:00and then we'll again talk
- 16:01about this more on the other shows,
- 16:02is her biggest point in the clip,
- 16:05if you watch beyond that,
- 16:06is the open needs to be defined.
- 16:10It does not have a
- 16:11definition of who it's for.
- 16:13We just hear rumblings that
- 16:14we need to make it more
- 16:18approachable for people.
- 16:21But it's also the initial
- 16:23qualification for the elite athletes.
- 16:26What is it?
- 16:27And we need to define it so
- 16:28we can actually make it
- 16:30what it's supposed to be.
- 16:35And I think she makes a
- 16:36great point about that.
- 16:37I think we've talked about
- 16:38that on this show a few
- 16:39times in the past.
- 16:42And that was really the clip
- 16:43that's being taken was all about that.
- 16:46You have the affiliates want
- 16:48the open to be one thing.
- 16:50You have the elite athletes
- 16:51that want the open to be another thing.
- 16:53CrossFit's trying to make it
- 16:54work for both.
- 16:56And in some ways,
- 16:57it's missing the mark
- 16:58because there's no way to
- 16:59come to a middle.
- 17:02She doesn't say that.
- 17:02I say that.
- 17:05Um, but anyway, I think that is, uh,
- 17:07was her main point in the clip, but that,
- 17:10that thing at the end, the, the,
- 17:12the piece at the end was clipped off, um,
- 17:15on both the seven show and, uh,
- 17:18replayed on dense updates.
- 17:19And so I just,
- 17:20I wanted to get the full
- 17:21context of the interview
- 17:23before I talked about it.
- 17:25And I even think there's,
- 17:26they talked about so much
- 17:28that I need a few more days, uh, to,
- 17:30to think about it as we
- 17:31approach it this weekend on the CrossFit
- 17:35talk show on Sunday night.
- 17:36So make sure you tune in for that.
- 17:41I'm going to look through a
- 17:42couple comments because I
- 17:43know a bunch came in here.
- 17:49So usually I eat the same
- 17:51thing as my wife.
- 17:53We just have good food in the house.
- 17:55Her choice is going to be
- 17:57something with lean ground
- 17:58beef or something with chicken.
- 18:01That's the two meats we have to cook.
- 18:03So it'll be something with that.
- 18:06What is my favorite food to make her?
- 18:07Whatever she wants, honestly.
- 18:11I used to be a short order cook.
- 18:13Uh, when I was in college,
- 18:15that's how I paid my rent.
- 18:17Um,
- 18:18and so I'm actually a pretty good cook.
- 18:21Um, and I can make just about anything.
- 18:26Uh, back on the insurance thing, uh,
- 18:29ACR talks about her husband.
- 18:31First of two arm surgeries
- 18:32was almost two years ago
- 18:33and insurance still has
- 18:35almost ten thousand pending
- 18:37because the back and forth
- 18:38with the doc and not liking
- 18:39certain codes.
- 18:43Good.
- 18:43And AC, are you work in the medical field?
- 18:45Correct.
- 18:46Are you a nurse?
- 18:47If I'm remembering right.
- 18:52Uh, Lex says, uh,
- 18:54it was interesting hearing
- 18:55Lambert talk about her
- 18:56trying to be on seminar stuff.
- 18:58I found that really fascinating.
- 19:00Um,
- 19:02it's really cool that she's a CrossFit
- 19:03level four.
- 19:06what I find fascinating is
- 19:07she has totally drank the
- 19:09CrossFit Kool-Aid.
- 19:11She has her CrossFit level four.
- 19:12She owns an affiliate.
- 19:14She's not de-affiliating.
- 19:16Um,
- 19:16she is paying for all of that to remain
- 19:20a part of CrossFit.
- 19:22Um, yet she's this pro coach, um,
- 19:25with Jeff and, and,
- 19:29and she gets caught in the
- 19:31middle of all this stuff.
- 19:33Um,
- 19:35And she,
- 19:35her and Jeff both started as volunteers,
- 19:38which was really cool.
- 19:39Um,
- 19:42Her and Jeff are one of the
- 19:43first people that agreed to
- 19:45come on this show when we
- 19:46first started way back in the day.
- 19:49I've always had a good
- 19:50relationship with both of them.
- 19:52Every time I see Carolyn at events,
- 19:54she is super friendly.
- 19:57We hug, we talk,
- 20:00and it's always very cordial.
- 20:01And I actually love her and Jeff.
- 20:04And if you've been watching
- 20:06this show for any time,
- 20:07you know I am a big Jeff Adler supporter.
- 20:11So I thought it was a great,
- 20:14great interview.
- 20:18Craig says, I watched the whole interview.
- 20:20It was good.
- 20:26Jody Lynn,
- 20:26I never do anything with a
- 20:27doctor until I get the code they'll use.
- 20:31Then I'll get it approved by insurance.
- 20:33It's ridiculous.
- 20:34I know,
- 20:34but why do we have to take all
- 20:35those steps?
- 20:37why it just doesn't make any
- 20:38sense to me at all why we
- 20:40are forced to do all this
- 20:42leg work to just ensure
- 20:44that we can stay healthy um
- 20:51kind of ridiculous so so
- 20:54let's talk about some fun
- 20:55stuff um so I'm going to
- 20:57give you my top five shows
- 20:59of the fall top five tv
- 21:00shows that I watched um
- 21:04and you can you can agree
- 21:05disagree or whatever put it
- 21:07in the comments um we love
- 21:09comments on this show uh
- 21:17denise moore
- 21:19congratulations on legends
- 21:21nice podium performance
- 21:23miss moore uh now I'm going
- 21:25to go watch the full
- 21:26interview I wasn't going to
- 21:27because I hate the made-up
- 21:29controversies happening
- 21:30this fall but now I'm
- 21:31interested in what she has to say
- 21:35I thought it was good.
- 21:36I think she makes a lot of great points.
- 21:38And yeah,
- 21:40that was ten seconds of an hour
- 21:41and forty-three minute interview.
- 21:44So that'll give you that perspective.
- 21:50So top five shows for me
- 21:52this fall that I have
- 21:55binged or watched as they came out.
- 21:58The first one is number five
- 22:01is Tulsa King.
- 22:03And it is on Paramount Plus.
- 22:04That is Sylvester Stallone's
- 22:07show about a...
- 22:09um,
- 22:10mafia member who goes to prison because
- 22:12he, uh, was the scapegoat and, uh,
- 22:15did not rat on his friends,
- 22:17spent several years in prison, gets out,
- 22:21um, is,
- 22:22is then outcast from New York city to, uh,
- 22:28to Tulsa, uh, to set up shop.
- 22:30And he sets up his shop there.
- 22:33I thought season two,
- 22:34which was this fall was
- 22:35better than season one.
- 22:38Um,
- 22:40much better than season one
- 22:42I it had it it kind of
- 22:44tightened up shipped a
- 22:45little bit and really
- 22:46focused the story in one direction um and
- 22:52some of the characters I got
- 22:53really emotionally attached
- 22:54to um are play integral
- 22:57roles in season two so I
- 22:59highly recommend that that
- 23:00is my number five show uh
- 23:03for this fall and jeffrey
- 23:05birchfield says I haven't
- 23:06seen second season the
- 23:08first was good second
- 23:09season is better second
- 23:12season is definitely better
- 23:16Number four is Lioness.
- 23:19That is the Zoe Zaldana show
- 23:22with Nicole Kidman, Morgan Freeman,
- 23:25where they...
- 23:27train operatives to go
- 23:29undercover to infiltrate
- 23:31the families of terrorists,
- 23:34the wives and the daughters,
- 23:37to go undercover, befriend them,
- 23:40and then essentially
- 23:42assassinate the terrorist
- 23:45from the inside.
- 23:48The second season shifts a
- 23:50little bit to some stuff
- 23:53more domestically.
- 23:55And it actually was very
- 23:56educational for me as well
- 23:58as a really well done show.
- 24:01What I will say about this
- 24:02is it is the one show that was so tense.
- 24:08I was literally on the edge
- 24:10of my seat in two or three
- 24:12of the episodes in season two.
- 24:15uh holding my breath for the
- 24:16characters in the show it
- 24:18was really really good um
- 24:20season two of lioness this
- 24:23fall number four on my uh
- 24:27on my list number three is
- 24:29a newcomer to tv and it is
- 24:32called high potential um
- 24:38It stars – her name is Olsen.
- 24:43Oh, gosh.
- 24:46She's been in a lot of shows before.
- 24:48She's in Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
- 24:51I'll think of – Elizabeth Olsen.
- 24:54Is that right?
- 24:56I don't know.
- 24:57That's not right.
- 24:58Anyway, I'll think of it.
- 24:59But she is actually – it's a very monk –
- 25:04monk style show if you liked
- 25:06monk in the past it's
- 25:08someone who with like ocd
- 25:10they see things that other
- 25:11peoples don't that don't
- 25:12see their memory is like
- 25:14really good they can see
- 25:15when things are out of
- 25:16place and shouldn't be
- 25:17where they are um but the
- 25:20heart of this character is so good
- 25:23And she is a single mother
- 25:25of three children, taking care of them.
- 25:28And she gets hired by the
- 25:29LAPD as a consultant to
- 25:32come in on cases to kind of
- 25:34figure out where the evidence is.
- 25:37It is a very, very well done show.
- 25:41It seems to be a little bit
- 25:42of an underdog in the better way.
- 25:45I thought Denise is better than Monk.
- 25:46I agree.
- 25:47I agree.
- 25:49She is a much more lovable
- 25:50character than Monk.
- 25:52Monk took some time to kind
- 25:53of understand where she,
- 25:55because of all of this
- 25:56stuff going on in her family life,
- 25:58it's just more heartwarming.
- 26:05And the heart of the show is
- 26:07better than Monk.
- 26:08So I really, really, really enjoyed it.
- 26:13Yeah, Elizabeth Olsen is WandaVision.
- 26:15This is not Elizabeth.
- 26:19Oh, my gosh.
- 26:21I know so much about her.
- 26:22Her husband owns the Wrexham
- 26:24soccer team with Ryan Reynolds,
- 26:28Rob McElhinney.
- 26:31She's married to him.
- 26:33But I can't think of her first name.
- 26:35But her last name is Olsen.
- 26:37But anyway, it's a great show.
- 26:39You should check it out.
- 26:41And kind of one of the neat
- 26:43things is one of her kids
- 26:44has the same condition that
- 26:48she has with the OCD.
- 26:50So it's kind of watching her
- 26:53deal with that as well.
- 26:56And the cast of characters
- 26:57are great on the show.
- 26:58It is on ABC.
- 26:59This is not a streaming service show.
- 27:02It's on ABC on Tuesday nights.
- 27:05We always stream it later
- 27:06because we can't stay up that late,
- 27:07but it's a great show.
- 27:10Number two for me is,
- 27:11it was mentioned in the chat already,
- 27:13Caitlin Olsen.
- 27:14That is it.
- 27:15Thank you, Denise.
- 27:16Caitlin Olsen.
- 27:19Number two for me was
- 27:20already mentioned the chat
- 27:21and that is land, man.
- 27:23Uh,
- 27:23the new Billy Bob Thornton show on
- 27:25paramount plus it is about, uh,
- 27:29basically a fixer in the oil industry.
- 27:33And they're called landmen.
- 27:35And it is the guy who goes
- 27:37between the workers on the
- 27:40wells and the drilling
- 27:43operations and the owner of
- 27:45the oil company,
- 27:46making sure that they get
- 27:48the lease agreements for
- 27:49the rights to the land to drill on,
- 27:53all of that kind of stuff.
- 27:54But it is done in Midland, Texas.
- 27:58it is amazing.
- 27:59Uh,
- 28:00I grew up in Western Pennsylvania where
- 28:01wildcat drilling was a big thing.
- 28:04Um,
- 28:04and literally right outside my parents'
- 28:06backyard.
- 28:08Um,
- 28:08if you go across the dirt road behind
- 28:10my house, uh,
- 28:11there is an oil well drilling, um,
- 28:14right there.
- 28:14And so I, uh,
- 28:17I grew up around Wildcat oil drillers,
- 28:20and this really takes me
- 28:21back to hanging out with
- 28:23them because my bus stop
- 28:27was a general store.
- 28:28They would come in to get
- 28:29their sandwiches and all
- 28:30that kind of stuff,
- 28:31and I got to know them a
- 28:32lot when I was a kid.
- 28:34And yeah.
- 28:40It is a smaller oil company
- 28:42and they talk about like BP
- 28:44and Chevron and all of
- 28:46those that they're competing against.
- 28:48But this one is actually a
- 28:49smaller oil company
- 28:51competing against them.
- 28:54Denise says the first scene
- 28:55is captivating.
- 28:56Yeah, not to give too much away,
- 28:58but it is Billy Bob trying
- 29:01to negotiate the lease
- 29:03rights to drill with the
- 29:06owner of the land who
- 29:07happens to be part of the drug cartel.
- 29:11And that's how the show opens.
- 29:14It gives you a very good,
- 29:15quick look at what it's
- 29:16like to be a land man.
- 29:20And then my number one show
- 29:22for the fall is Shrinking.
- 29:24If you are not watching this show,
- 29:25it is the best show I've seen in years.
- 29:29It is Harrison Ford as Jason Segel.
- 29:32They are therapists.
- 29:34The premise of the show is
- 29:35that Jason Segel's character...
- 29:39his wife is killed by a
- 29:40drunk driver and it,
- 29:42the show opens in the first season,
- 29:45first show, um, about where he is, uh,
- 29:51not in good shape because
- 29:52of what has happened.
- 29:54He has a daughter who has
- 29:56been affected and their
- 29:58neighbor has essentially
- 29:59taken over raising the, uh,
- 30:04has taken over raising the
- 30:06daughter while he is in this bad shape.
- 30:11And the reason it's called
- 30:12shrinking is Jason Siegel
- 30:13is actually a therapist.
- 30:15Harrison Ford is a therapist.
- 30:17There's a third black woman
- 30:19who is a therapist and they
- 30:20share a practice together.
- 30:23And it's,
- 30:25it's initially like how all
- 30:28of this has affected Jason
- 30:30Siegel as a therapist and
- 30:32the therapy he's trying to
- 30:33do to get back on track.
- 30:37It's on Apple plus Denise.
- 30:40it's actually a comedy um
- 30:42yes it's a very dark um
- 30:46opening to what's happened
- 30:48but it actually turns into
- 30:50a comedic thing um but
- 30:53again a lot of heart with
- 30:54the characters all of them
- 30:55are very lovable um highly
- 30:58recommended I just finished
- 31:00season two last week
- 31:02And it's a great show again, Harrison Ford,
- 31:04Jason Siegel.
- 31:06Um, and then there's a lot of, uh,
- 31:09I just finished season two
- 31:11and there's actually a,
- 31:12how I met your mother,
- 31:14many reunion at the end of season two.
- 31:17I won't give any spoilers
- 31:18away if you haven't seen that.
- 31:20Um, but Jason Siegel, uh,
- 31:22was on how I met your mother.
- 31:24He was Marshall, the big, tall goofy guy.
- 31:27And, um,
- 31:30yeah he uh there's a little
- 31:32mini how I met your mother
- 31:34reunion uh at the end of
- 31:35the show but definitely the
- 31:38the best show I've seen
- 31:39this fall did it win some
- 31:41emmys I'm not sure if it's
- 31:42one I know harrison ford
- 31:44and jason siegel both have
- 31:45been nominated for golden
- 31:46globes just within the week
- 31:48um but I don't know about
- 31:50the emmys jeff uh but again great show um
- 31:58And those are my top five.
- 31:59Again, five Tulsa King, four Lioness,
- 32:01three High Potential, two Landman,
- 32:04number one Shrinking,
- 32:06and then the worst show.
- 32:11worst show ever is fire
- 32:13country if you have watched
- 32:16fire country or if you're a
- 32:17fan of fire country I'm
- 32:19really sorry but I think it
- 32:20is probably the laziest
- 32:22writing I've seen on
- 32:23network tv and I've come to
- 32:26the conclusion that the
- 32:28writers have a misery meter
- 32:33and if a character's misery
- 32:34meter goes below eight
- 32:36they've got to do something
- 32:37to that character
- 32:38to get them back above eight
- 32:40so everybody is always in a
- 32:43bad mood fighting for
- 32:45something um it is awful
- 32:48and I heard a rumor or I
- 32:51read somewhere that they
- 32:52are going to spin off two
- 32:53shows from this and I'm
- 32:55like how in the hell can
- 32:57they spin off two it's in
- 32:58its third season there's um
- 33:03How are they going to spin
- 33:03off two shows from this
- 33:05when this one is so bad and
- 33:07the writers are so bad and
- 33:08now you're going to split
- 33:09up the writing into three shows?
- 33:11Oh my gosh.
- 33:14Please don't.
- 33:14Please don't.
- 33:15Just put it out of its misery.
- 33:18It's awful.
- 33:19Awful, awful, awful.
- 33:24Denise says FBI international sucks too.
- 33:27I never got pulled into the FBI shows.
- 33:29Uh, so, uh, thankfully there,
- 33:32but I wish I'd never my, so my mom,
- 33:37my dad passed away a couple of years ago.
- 33:38My mom calls me quite a bit
- 33:41and she watches fire country.
- 33:43And the only reason I even
- 33:44started is so that we'd
- 33:44have something to talk
- 33:45about and I can't do it anymore.
- 33:47I just can't.
- 33:51I can't.
- 33:54One surprise thing I did want to point out,
- 33:56I talked about Christmas
- 33:57movies on Monday.
- 34:00I ended up watching Dear
- 34:01Santa on Paramount Plus the other night.
- 34:05And the premise of this movie is,
- 34:07it's a Jack Black movie,
- 34:10but the premise is that a
- 34:11kid with dyslexia goes to
- 34:13write his letter to Santa
- 34:15and accidentally,
- 34:16because of this dyslexia,
- 34:18writes a letter to Satan.
- 34:21And Jack Black plays Satan,
- 34:23and he comes to the kid's
- 34:25bedroom to give him three wishes.
- 34:29It turns out to be a very
- 34:30heartwarming and funny movie.
- 34:33I think my bar was set pretty low,
- 34:36and it cleared it by a mile.
- 34:37It is funny.
- 34:39It is endearing.
- 34:40It was a really surprise,
- 34:42fun movie to watch.
- 34:44So if you're looking for a
- 34:45different Christmas movie,
- 34:48Dear Santa really hit a home run for me.
- 34:51So awesome to that.
- 34:53And then just one news clip
- 34:55I wanted to talk about,
- 34:56and that is Kirk Cousins
- 34:58was benched overnight.
- 35:01I woke up this morning to
- 35:02the news that he'll be
- 35:02benched for the Atlanta Falcons.
- 35:04He's thrown nine
- 35:05interceptions and one
- 35:06touchdown in his last four games.
- 35:09Those are not numbers that
- 35:10keep you competing as a quarterback.
- 35:15I do have a small rant about it, though,
- 35:17that, like,
- 35:18Kirk Cousins was the best
- 35:20play-action passer in the NFL.
- 35:22Goes to Atlanta,
- 35:23and they don't run any play-action pass.
- 35:26Why would you sign a guy
- 35:27that does something that
- 35:28you're not willing to do?
- 35:30Makes no sense to me.
- 35:32But he signed for a lot of money.
- 35:34If they cut him,
- 35:36they're still going to owe
- 35:37him ninety million dollars.
- 35:41And one thing that Kirk
- 35:42Cousins has been amazing at
- 35:44is earning money.
- 35:46His, for a second,
- 35:48maybe even third tier
- 35:49quarterback in the NFL, I'd argue second,
- 35:52second tier quarterback,
- 35:54his career earnings are two
- 35:56hundred and ninety four million dollars.
- 35:59two hundred and ninety four
- 36:00million dollars.
- 36:01And I don't think that
- 36:02includes the ninety he will
- 36:04get if he gets cut.
- 36:06So then we're talking three
- 36:06hundred and eighty million
- 36:07dollars in his career to be
- 36:10a second tier quarterback in the league.
- 36:15Hey,
- 36:16I'll be a second tier anything if you
- 36:17pay me three hundred and
- 36:18eighty million dollars.
- 36:20Wow.
- 36:21Good for you, Kirk Cousins.
- 36:23But dang.
- 36:24Wow.
- 36:24Well, with that,
- 36:28it's about time to get back to work,
- 36:29guys.
- 36:31this has been uh lunch hour
- 36:34with the clydesdale don't
- 36:36forget to like and
- 36:36subscribe to the channel
- 36:38hit that notifier uh so
- 36:40you're the first to know
- 36:41when we got new episodes
- 36:42and if you're listening to
- 36:43us on spotify or itunes or
- 36:45amazon music or any of
- 36:47those podcast platforms uh
- 36:50go ahead and uh leave a
- 36:52five-star review tell tell
- 36:54us what you like about the show
- 36:57Yeah.
- 36:57We appreciate you as always.
- 37:00And if there's anything you
- 37:01want to talk about on these shows, again,
- 37:02this is a,
- 37:03we'll just talk about anything
- 37:05that's on our mind lunch,
- 37:06but it's just to hang out
- 37:07at lunch with everybody and
- 37:10break up the day a little bit.
- 37:12Don't forget to tune in to
- 37:13Sunday Night CrossFit Talk.
- 37:16And the roundtable will be
- 37:17in this time slot tomorrow.
- 37:19So the whole crew will be here tomorrow.
- 37:21Then Sunday Night CrossFit
- 37:22Talk with Carolyn and Jamie on Sunday.
- 37:25And in that show,
- 37:26definitely we're going to
- 37:27talk about the Carolyn
- 37:28Lambre interview and the
- 37:32clip that went viral for sure,
- 37:34among other things.
- 37:35The other thing is Carolyn
- 37:36has a topic that we keep having to skip.
- 37:39But it is,
- 37:40High Rocks has a traveling
- 37:44version of their sport
- 37:45where they go to Houston, Chicago, LA,
- 37:49Australia.
- 37:50And people can then come
- 37:51sign up and participate
- 37:53together as a community.
- 37:55Is that something that
- 37:57CrossFit could put together?
- 38:00And how should it be laid out?
