- 2:50Sunny mornings send you. In local news, the Gasoline
- 2:56Alley Foundation has sold its property on Albany
- 2:59Street to Frank Roberts, president of Roberts
- 3:02Energy, a longtime petroleum business. Plans
- 3:06include expanding Roberts Energy into the Gasoline
- 3:09Alley buildings at 250 and 270 Albany Street.
- 3:14while maintaining the area as a hub for small
- 3:17businesses like Nush Restaurant and Cafe, Monsoon
- 3:21Roastery, and Corcello Butcheria. Currently,
- 3:24there are 17 businesses on site, including a
- 3:27towing company. Joe Sibelia, founder of the Gasoline
- 3:32Alley Foundation, noted that his decision to
- 3:35sell was influenced by his satisfaction with
- 3:37tenants and his upcoming 70th birthday. The property
- 3:42sold for $1 .13 million on June 25th. Now on
- 3:52to sports. Executives from several major league
- 3:56baseball teams are reconsidering their trade
- 3:59deadline decisions, believing that more time
- 4:02could help them decide whether to be buyers or
- 4:04sellers. As of August 17th, some teams already
- 4:09appear to wish they had a mulligan. The Pittsburgh
- 4:12Pirates, for example, have struggled, currently
- 4:15sitting at 61 wins and 65 losses, while the Detroit
- 4:19Tigers traded two -time Cy Young Award winner
- 4:22Tarek Schubel, potentially regretting the move.
- 4:27Similarly, the Baltimore Orioles traded Taylor
- 4:30Ward, raising questions about their commitment
- 4:33to competing this season. Lastly, the Kansas
- 4:36City Royals might have benefited from trading
- 4:39veterans Michael Wacha. and Seth Lugo for future
- 4:42gains. In local sports, the Rent Sox took care
- 4:47of business last night hammering Arizona 11 -1
- 4:51at Fenway. Brian Baio picked up the win while
- 4:55Wilson Contreras and Mickey Gasper both went
- 4:59deep. Gasper stepped in after a surprise lineup
- 5:03scratch for Jimmy Jones, now considered day -to
- 5:07-day. Boston is back at Fenway tonight for Game
- 5:102, 7 -10 first pitch. Rangers swore is on the
- 5:14mound against Arizona's Merrill Kelly, looking
- 5:18to wrap up the series before Wednesday's finale.
- 5:22Meanwhile in Foxborough, Drake May and Ajay Brown
- 5:25connected on a 70 -yard bomb at Camp Monday,
- 5:29the clearest sign yet their chemistry is coming
- 5:31together. Christian Gonzalez remained out. but
- 5:35Christian Barmore returned in limited fashion,
- 5:38and the kicking job stays wide open after Andy
- 5:41Borigel's rough preseason debut. On the ice,
- 5:46Bruins restricted free agent Matthew Poitras
- 5:49still hasn't signed his qualifying offer with
- 5:52Camp under a month away. Where does he want a
- 5:55one -way deal after splitting time with Providence
- 5:58last season? Over at the Celtics, Paul George
- 6:02made his first trip to the Auerbach Center meeting
- 6:05Jason Tatum face -to -face since the Jalen Brown
- 6:08trade, and calling the moment surreal. In top
- 6:14news, at a time when the impact of climate change
- 6:17is undeniable, some researchers suggest we need
- 6:21to start work on far more ambitious approaches
- 6:24for tackling these problems. These proposals
- 6:27are often referred to as geoengineering. Science
- 6:31correspondent Miles O 'Brien looks at one such
- 6:34concept to deal with the melting of glaciers
- 6:36and sea ice. Mathematician and climate researcher
- 6:40David Holland of New York University studies
- 6:44Greenland's Jacobsham Glacier, which moves at
- 6:46about 150 feet a day. Holland hopes to gather
- 6:51synchronous data to better understand glacier
- 6:54retreat and its impact on sea level rise. Critics
- 6:58question the feasibility of geoengineering solutions,
- 7:02but Holland emphasizes the need for data to inform
- 7:05future decisions. In business news, Synchrony
- 7:11Financial, the credit card issuer for brands
- 7:13including Amazon, Walmart, and Lowe's, is working
- 7:17with OpenAI to allow shoppers to buy products
- 7:20directly inside ChatGPT using their store cards.
- 7:24This deal marks one of the first major moves
- 7:27by a United States consumer lender to integrate
- 7:30financing, payments, and rewards into an artificial
- 7:33intelligence chatbot. Marin Nalaswamy, Synchrony's
- 7:38Chief Strategy Officer, stated that ensuring
- 7:41transactions occur smoothly within this ecosystem
- 7:44is a priority. However, integrating private label
- 7:48store cards into chat GPT will take months. as
- 7:52negotiations continue with brand partners. Synchrony
- 7:56is also launching a ChatKeyPT plugin for browsing
- 8:00marketplace deals. In crypto movement, Bitcoin
- 8:04is up 2 % to just over $64 ,000. Ethereum is
- 8:10up 1 % to just under $1 ,900. And XRP is up half
- 8:16a percent to $1. Moving on to a more local vibe.

- 9:08Let's talk science. Tech talk and social media
- 9:10can sometimes lead to exciting discoveries. In
- 9:142024, a team of scientists in northern India
- 9:17identified a new colorless subterranean eel named
- 9:21Gangesthes zendone palicus after watching a short
- 9:24TikTok video. This eel, the first Stygobitic
- 9:28fish recorded from the Gangetic Basin, is only
- 9:311 .5 inches long and adapted to total darkness.
- 9:36Scientists face challenges procuring specimens,
- 9:39manually pumping thousands of gallons of water
- 9:41from local hand pumps. The genus name Genghachdes
- 9:45means fish of the Ganges, reflecting the river's
- 9:48significance in India. The species name in Don
- 9:51Palikis highlights its discovery on the Indian
- 9:54-Nepal border. And in entertainment news. In
- 10:01a remarkable achievement, Sony and Marvel Studios'
- 10:05Spider -Man, Brand New Day has crossed the $2
- 10:08billion mark worldwide, becoming the second fastest
- 10:12film to reach this milestone in just 17 days.
- 10:16This puts it behind Avengers, Endgame, which
- 10:19accomplished the feat in 11 days. Currently,
- 10:24Brand New Day has amassed $786 .5 million, domestically
- 10:29and $1 .238 billion internationally, totaling
- 10:34$2 .024 billion globally. Meanwhile, the Odyssey
- 10:40has also performed well, generating $123 .4 million
- 10:44over the weekend, bringing its total to $1 .294
- 10:49billion. Well, all righty, folks. It's time for
- 10:54the quote of the day. And today, our quote comes
- 10:58from the American suffragist and women's rights
- 11:00activist, Susan D. Anthony. And she said, There
- 11:05never will be complete equality until women themselves
- 11:08help to make laws and elect lawmakers. And that's
- 11:13a wrap for this morning. You can check out our
- 11:16Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok for some captivating
- 11:20aerial videos with local news and the weather
- 11:23reports. Have an amazing day, my good friends.
- 11:27We'll see you tomorrow with another episode of
