- 0:00Speaker 1: What is Golgatha, the hill that shook the world. There
- 0:03Speaker 1: are places on Earth where history does not simply happen,
- 0:06Speaker 1: it bleeds. One such place as Golgatha, a barren hill
- 0:10Speaker 1: outside ancient Jerusalem, a place of execution, a place of shame,
- 0:14Speaker 1: and yet, according to Christian belief, the place where eternity
- 0:19Speaker 1: itself was altered. Today we answer the who, what, when, where,
- 0:24Speaker 1: how and why of the most consequential hill in human history.
- 0:28Speaker 1: This is Golgatha? Who where the people? At Golgatha. At
- 0:32Speaker 1: the center stands Jesus of Nazareth, a carpenter turned teacher,
- 0:36Speaker 1: healer and prophet to some, he is a blasphemer to others,
- 0:41Speaker 1: a revolutionary to his followers, the messiah. Surrounding him are
- 0:45Speaker 1: Roman soldiers, hardened men trained to kill without hesitation. Crucifixion
- 0:50Speaker 1: is routine for them, mercy is not. Nearby stand religious leaders,
- 0:55Speaker 1: men who fear that jesus growing influence threatens both their authority.
- 0:58Speaker 1: In Rome's fragile tolerance, there is conscious pilot, the Roman governor,
- 1:03Speaker 1: who believes Jesus is innocent, yet condemns him anyway, choosing
- 1:07Speaker 1: political survival over justice. There are two criminals crucified beside him,
- 1:12Speaker 1: one mocking, one believing, And there is the crowd. Some
- 1:16Speaker 1: had cheered Jesus days earlier, Now they shout for his death.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Above them all, according to Christian theology, stands God himself,
- 1:25Speaker 1: allowing the unthinkable to unfold. What is Golgatha? Golgatha is
- 1:29Speaker 1: not a battlefield, It is not a palace. It is
- 1:32Speaker 1: an execution site. The name comes from the Aramaic word
- 1:36Speaker 1: meaning place of the skull. Whether it resembled a skull
- 1:40Speaker 1: or was littered with bones, the meaning is clear. This
- 1:43Speaker 1: is where people come to die. Crucifixion is Rome's most
- 1:47Speaker 1: brutal punishment, reserved for slaves, rebels, and traitors. It is slow,
- 1:52Speaker 1: it is public, It is designed to humiliate before it kills.
- 1:56Speaker 1: And here on this hill three crosses rise. On the
- 1:59Speaker 1: s center cross hangs Jesus. When was Golgatha? The moment
- 2:03Speaker 1: in time the crucifixion occurs around AD thirty to thirty three,
- 2:07Speaker 1: during the Jewish festival of Passover. Passover commemorates Israel's liberation
- 2:12Speaker 1: from slavery in Egypt, when the blood of a lamb
- 2:15Speaker 1: spared households from death. The symbolism is impossible to miss.
- 2:19Speaker 1: As Jerusalem fills with pilgrims. As Lambs are sacrificed in
- 2:23Speaker 1: the temple below, another sacrifice is being made above the city.
- 2:27Speaker 1: Timing Christians believe is not coincidence, it is orchestration. Where
- 2:33Speaker 1: was Golgatha located? Golvitha lies outside Jerusalem's city walls. Rome
- 2:38Speaker 1: never crucified inside the city. Executions were warnings, visible reminders
- 2:43Speaker 1: of who held power. Anyone entering or leaving Jerusalem would
- 2:46Speaker 1: see the crosses. The message was unmistakable. This is what
- 2:50Speaker 1: happens when you defy Rome. Yet Prophecy had long foretold
- 2:53Speaker 1: that the Messiah would be rejected, numbered, with the transgressors
- 2:57Speaker 1: cast outside the city bearing shame. Even the location fulfills
- 3:02Speaker 1: ancient expectation. Before Golgatha, Jesus is scourge whip with a
- 3:07Speaker 1: Roman flagrim embedded with bone and metal. Flesh is torn,
- 3:11Speaker 1: blood flows freely. Weakened, he is forced to carry his
- 3:14Speaker 1: crossbeam through the streets until his body collapses. At Golgatha,
- 3:19Speaker 1: soldiers nail his hands and feet to the wood. The
- 3:22Speaker 1: cross is raised. Gravity does the rest. Crucifixion kills slowly.
- 3:27Speaker 1: Victims must push against their wounds just to breathe. Jesus
- 3:31Speaker 1: speaks seven times from the cross, words of forgiveness, words
- 3:35Speaker 1: of anguish, words of completion. Darkness falls at mid day,
- 3:39Speaker 1: the earth shakes, the temple veil tears in two, and
- 3:42Speaker 1: finally he cries out and dies. A Roman centurion, witnessing
- 3:47Speaker 1: it all, declares, truly, this was the Son of God.
- 3:51Speaker 1: Why Golgatha. From a political view, Jesus is eliminated as
- 3:55Speaker 1: a threat. From a religious view, he is silenced for
- 3:58Speaker 1: challenging authority. But from the Christian perspective, Golgatha is the plan,
- 4:03Speaker 1: not a tragic mistake, not a failed mission, but a
- 4:06Speaker 1: willing sacrifice. Christian doctrine teaches that humanities sin demanded justice,
- 4:11Speaker 1: and God himself absorbed the justice Through the Cross. Love
- 4:15Speaker 1: met law, mercy met judgment, life met death and death
- 4:19Speaker 1: blink Rome thought Goldetha ended a movement. Instead, it ignited one.
- 4:24Speaker 1: The Cross, once a symbol of terror, became the most
- 4:27Speaker 1: recognized symbol on earth. Within centuries, Christianity spread across empires
- 4:33Speaker 1: because followers believed Golgatha was not the end. Three days
- 4:37Speaker 1: later they claimed the tomb was empty, and that is
- 4:40Speaker 1: why Golgatha still echoes through history because if the cross
- 4:44Speaker 1: is true, then suffering has meaning, forgiveness is possible, and
- 4:48Speaker 1: death is not final. Goldetha was meant to erase a man. Instead,
- 4:53Speaker 1: it defined the world
