- 0:00Vox Liturgica: The propers of the day according to the 1962 Roman Missal. A Feria of the Seventh Sunday after Pentecost, July 17 in the year of our Lord 2026.
- 0:22Saint Alexius was born at Rome towards 03/1950 of a wealthy family. His father being the senator Euphimean. Guided by the Holy Ghost, he renounced his patrimony and piously visited as a pilgrim the sanctuaries of the East.
- 0:43He died in the fifth century under the pontificate of Innocent I. His body was buried in the church which bears his name on Mount Aventine. He is honored there with Saint Boniface to whom the church had originally been dedicated. In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy ghost. Amen.
- 1:14The introit. Clap your hands all ye nations. Shout unto God with the voice of joy. For the Lord is high. He is terrible.
- 1:28A great king over all the earth. Glory be to the father and to the son and to the holy ghost as it was in the beginning is now and will be through all ages of ages. Amen. Clap your hands all ye nations Shout unto God with the voice of joy. The Collect.
- 1:57Let us pray. O God, whose providence faileth not in its designs, we humbly entreat thee, put from us all that might be harmful, and give us all that will be profitable. A commemoration of Saint Alexios. O God, who dost gladden us by the annual solemnity of blessed Alexius, thy confessor, mercifully grant that we who celebrate his heavenly birthday may also imitate his example through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages. Amen.
- 2:50A lesson from the letter of Saint Paul the Apostle to the Romans. Brethren, I am speaking in the language of common life because nature is still strong in you. Just as you once made over your natural powers as slaves to impurity and wickedness till all was wickedness, you must now make over your natural powers as slaves to right doing till all is sanctified. At the time when you were the slaves of sin, right doing had no claim upon you. And what harvest were you then reaping from acts which now make you blush?
- 3:40Their reward is death. Now that you are free from the claims of sin and have become God's slaves instead, You have a harvest in your sanctification and your reward is eternal life. Sin offers death for wages. God offers us eternal life as a free gift through Christ Jesus, our Lord. The gradual.
- 4:17Come children, hearken to me. I will teach you the fear of the Lord. Come to him and be enlightened, and your faces shall not be confounded. Alleluia. Alleluia.
- 4:36Oh, clap your hands all ye nations. Shout unto God with the voice of joy. Alleluia. A continuation of the holy gospel according to Matthew. At that time, Jesus said to his disciples, beware of false prophets who come to you in the clothing of sheep, but inwardly, they are ravening wolves.
- 5:08By their fruits, you shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles? Even so, every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, and the evil tree bringeth forth evil fruit. A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit neither can an evil tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that does not bring forth good fruit shall be cut down and shall be cast into the fire.
- 5:48Wherefore, by their fruits you shall know them. Not everyone that says to me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. But he that does the will of my father who is in heaven, he shall enter into the kingdom of heaven. The offertory. Let this sacrifice of ours be so made before thee this day as to be acceptable in thy sight no less than a burnt sacrifice of rams and bullocks, no less than thousands of fattened lambs.
- 6:37Surely, those who trust in thee, oh lord, can never be disappointed. The secret. Oh god, who has justified the variety of sacrifices of the law by the perfection of this one sacrifice except the sacrifice of thy servants who are dedicated to thee and sanctified with a blessing like to that which thou didst bestow upon the gifts of Abel that what each one of us has offered to the honor of thy majesty may profit us all unto salvation. A commemoration of Saint Alexios. In memory of thy saints, O Lord, we offer thee the sacrifice of praise by which we trust to be freed from both present and future evils through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy Son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God through all ages of ages.
- 7:54Amen. The common preface. Just it is indeed and fitting, right and for our salvation, that we should at all times and in all places give thanks unto thee, o holy lord, father almighty, everlasting god, through whom the angels praise thy majesty, the dominions worship it, The powers stand in awe. The heavens and the hosts of heaven together with the blessed Seraphim joyfully do magnify. We entreat thee that thou command it be permitted us to join with them in confessing thee while we say with lowly praise.
- 8:47Holy, holy, holy, Lord God of hosts, The heavens and the earth are full of thy glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. The communion.
- 9:15Bow down thine ear. Make haste to deliver me. The post communion. Let us pray. May thy healing work, o Lord, both mercifully free us from all our waywardness and lead us to all that is right.
- 9:40A commemoration of Saint Alexios. Refreshed with food and drink from on high, we humbly beg thee, our God, that we may be guarded by the prayers of him in memory of whom we have received this sacrament through our Lord Jesus Christ, thy son, who liveth and reigneth with thee in the unity of the Holy Ghost, God, through all ages of ages. Amen. In the name of the Father, and of the son, and of the holy ghost. Amen.
