- 0:00Happy Thursday morning everybody.
- 0:04I'm right back in my comfort spot and even Louis the legend,
- 0:08sitting right there like the king he is.
- 0:12Song of the day, When the sun goes down on my side of town at
- 0:20a lonesome feeling comes through the room and the whole world
- 0:27turns blue. You know, that's a really good
- 0:32song. And I could keep singing it.
- 0:34But I know you all are going to stream through the phone.
- 0:37You're going to say, Wallace, what'd you do with all that
- 0:41singing lesson money? Well, OK, we're at the end of
- 0:48the week, and there's been a lot of NASCAR news.
- 0:52And I sat here this morning, got my little blanket on.
- 0:58Temperature just been up and down.
- 0:59Now today it's cold. Yesterday it was 80°.
- 1:03Now it's cold today. So well, here, there you go.
- 1:09Says 50° in Arnold, MO. But I swear it was 80 yesterday.
- 1:16So all right. Breaking news in the garage
- 1:22area. Congratulations to Steve
- 1:26O'Donnell, the new NASCAR president.
- 1:30Steve is actually a friend of mine.
- 1:34It's so it's so funny, you know, as you grow older, some friends
- 1:38that you hang out with, I can't tell you how many crew chiefs
- 1:41that were like engineers of mine, like, man, I don't know.
- 1:47You just name it there. There is.
- 1:49There is a lot of guys that were just normal, you know, crew
- 1:54members and, you know, they just ended up going on and and being
- 1:58bigger and better. So congratulations to Steve
- 2:01O'Donnell. I've always thought Steve was
- 2:04very worthy. One thing I like about Steve
- 2:06O'Donnell, he he looks like a football player.
- 2:11He looks like a lineman. So if Steve is going to, you
- 2:16know, be the president of NASCAR, he's going to run it.
- 2:19First of all, let me back up. I don't think anybody is looks
- 2:26as bad ass as Mike Helton. Like the the great thing about
- 2:29Mike Helton being the NASCAR president, he looks a little
- 2:34mean. Hilton, Hilton, chew your ass
- 2:38out and you're like, yes, Sir, 'cause he's way bigger than
- 2:40everybody and he's got a little girth to him.
- 2:44And same thing with the new president, Steve O'Donnell.
- 2:48I kind of think that's, you know, one of the, the resume
- 2:52skills you should have if you're going to be a president to any
- 2:55company, anything be a little big because it's sad to say, but
- 3:01when people respect you, things go a little better.
- 3:04You get things done. So congratulations to Steve
- 3:07O'Donnell. I texted him, he responded.
- 3:12And so Steve Phelps, the the, the man that was the president,
- 3:17Steve, has gone on to take care of international affairs.
- 3:22In other words, NASCAR has been screaming that they want to go
- 3:26global. So NASCAR assuming they're going
- 3:30to go global. I mean, we have been racing in
- 3:33Mexico for years now. The Cup Series is going back to
- 3:38Hermano Rodriguez this year. We've raced up in Canada, up
- 3:44there at Montreal, and the trucks have been running up
- 3:46there somewhere. And so we've been on both sides.
- 3:49We've been to Mexico, we've been to Canada.
- 3:51Remember, I raced in Japan with NASCAR two of those three years.
- 3:56So NASCAR went to Japan for three years and I raced in two
- 4:01of them. OK.
- 4:04So Steve O'Donnell is your new NASCAR president, I think.
- 4:08I think he's going to do good. He's been with NASCAR forever,
- 4:12so he should know what's up. OK, Remember, we've been talking
- 4:19everybody, all the, all the NASCAR heroes of the past.
- 4:24Mark Martin was on Dirty MO Media.
- 4:28You know Mark Martin's like EF Hutton.
- 4:31When Mark Martin talks, everybody listens and we all
- 4:35respect Mark the Kid Martin out of Batesville, AR.
- 4:40I just love saying that because when I was a kid, the announcer
- 4:43would go, ladies and gentlemen out of Batesville, AR, Mark the
- 4:48Kid Martin. We need announcers like that
- 4:51again, damn it. Announcers.
- 4:53Announcers make all the difference in the world and they
- 4:56they put an aura about the racetrack.
- 5:00OK, so NASCAR announced some fines and penalties.
- 5:06Looks like Sammy Smith, the man that you know, you know, started
- 5:12all this chaos. Sammy has been they, they give
- 5:17him 50 points. They took 50 points from him and
- 5:21a $25,000 penalty now on Herman Schrader.
- 5:26Herman Schrader's been up. Go there.
- 5:29I like what Kenny Schrader says. Schrader says Herman, they spend
- 5:33$6 million a year. That ain't going to do nothing,
- 5:37he says. Schrader says they need to set
- 5:39them all out. And there's a lot more to that.
- 5:43I'll never forget They set Kevin Harvick out.
- 5:48And by the way, it's over there on Herman Schrader.
- 5:50But you know, Kevin Harvick would probably hold a record
- 5:54right now. But they, they set Kevin Harvick
- 5:57out a race and I drove the number 29.
- 6:01Yours truly. I was the one that drove Kevin
- 6:05harvick's #29 GM Goodrin Chevrolet when he drove for
- 6:10Richard Childress. I'm the one that drove that car
- 6:12at Martinsville when old Harvard got in trouble with NASCAR.
- 6:17Simmer down, simmer down. Cleaning ladies coming today.
- 6:25That's what it is. She probably coming through the
- 6:29doorbells are going off Louie, look at him going like a hot dog
- 6:34running around. So the penalty to to Sammy Smith
- 6:43was $50,000 and and 25 points. So, all right, so it's been the
- 6:56the new NASCAR president, it's been the penalty for Sammy
- 7:00Smith. They they also find Jeb Burton
- 7:05and Taylor Gray 5 grand for getting in a little fisticuff
- 7:08there out of the NASCAR in a little hospital there inside the
- 7:14Martinsville Speedway. 5 grand is a lot of money, but it's
- 7:19almost like a side note, right? My God.
- 7:22OK, so tomorrow, I believe on Friday, the NASCAR Xfinity
- 7:30Series director, he said he's going to hold a meeting with
- 7:37those drivers in the Xfinity Series.
- 7:40So it's kind of like one of these breaking news in the
- 7:44garage area. NASCAR Xfinity director is going
- 7:50to hold a meeting. All right, if you're watching
- 7:54this boss, man, you better get aggressive here.
- 7:58You can't be doing like this. OK, here's my advice.
- 8:01When you have a meeting with these drivers, you don't stand
- 8:04up and you go, gentlemen, first of all, they're not gentlemen
- 8:09right now. They're ass holes.
- 8:11I'd start out by saying listening, you ass holes, y'all
- 8:14driving like it. Don't.
- 8:16Don't give them any respect. That's the wrong foot to get off
- 8:20on because they haven't given you any respect.
- 8:24You got to treat them like children that just like Mike
- 8:27Elton did me when, when NASCAR fined me 10 grand, 'cause I
- 8:31didn't listen to them. They were black flagging me at
- 8:35Phoenix and I didn't listen. I did.
- 8:37Later on NASCAR, Mike Elton called me and he, he was
- 8:43screaming at me, screaming. Mike Elton was screaming at me,
- 8:46fined me $10,000. So Mr. Director, the new
- 8:52director, I have a lot of respect for you.
- 8:55I forgot your name because you're new.
- 8:57Wayne Alton's been there forever, but now we got a new
- 9:00director. Do not give those children any
- 9:03respect. Start out stern and tell them
- 9:07how they're making a fool. And you and they and and you,
- 9:10you act like it's your series. And you say to those drivers,
- 9:14boys, you have embarrassed my series.
- 9:19My series, that's the way old Gazaway used to do it pissed me
- 9:23off. I'd be working on that, that
- 9:26Levi Garrett car and he'd say, boy, get in my car hot higher.
- 9:32And I'm like, it's not, I wanted to say it's not your car.
- 9:36But he made his point. He pissed me off right away.
- 9:40So that's what you need to do. And you give this speech.
- 9:42Don't think you'll, oh, I'm gonna talk nice to him 'cause
- 9:45they, they won't listen. You threaten them, I'm going to
- 9:50leave you with this. Steve Bird, one of the greatest
- 9:52crew chiefs of all time, You know, he came out of there
- 10:00quicker than John Force. Louie came out quicker than John
- 10:05Force. Bow is gone.
- 10:07Great reaction time. Steve Birdie said they need to
- 10:10put him in the penalty box. I was like, damn, Birdie, I
- 10:14remember that. So NASCAR, bring back the
- 10:18penalty box. And for all you fans, respond
- 10:22right here. If you start getting rough, park
- 10:25them. Park them for 10 laps, put them
- 10:27out of the race. If they want to pull off, then
- 10:29that's your point. But you park them.
- 10:34But they got to stay in their car.
- 10:36Park them 2-3 laps, you know, start rough.
- 10:41They start driving like fools. Park them, put them in the
- 10:45penalty box and we used to have that bring the penalty box back.
- 10:51All right, everybody, I think we broke down all the NASCAR news
- 10:54today. You have a new president.
- 10:58I told you about the fine and I told you about the new Xfinity
- 11:03director. Are you going to give a meeting
- 11:05tomorrow? If those drivers come out
- 11:07smiling, you know the meeting didn't work.
- 11:12Have a great Thursday.
