Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Gentleman announcing yesterday it's going to force all con Council
- 0:02Speaker 1: to allow new developments of at least fifteen stories next
- 0:06Speaker 1: to key stations for the City rail Link. The new
- 0:09Speaker 1: rules will apply to developments within walking distance of Munga Foe,
- 0:12Speaker 1: which is the new station, Kingsland Morningside. A ten story
- 0:16Speaker 1: limit would apply around Mount Albert and Baldwin have stations.
- 0:19Speaker 1: Campbell Dunoon is head of network at L J. Hooker
- 0:22Speaker 1: and with me this morning. Campbell, good morning, Good morning Ryan.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Is this what people want?
- 0:29Speaker 2: Well? Well, hopefully. Look, I think it's a positive move
- 0:33Speaker 2: by the government. We need to do something to address it.
- 0:36Speaker 2: But I think we have to accept we need consultation
- 0:39Speaker 2: here and we need to I guess a balanced approach
- 0:41Speaker 2: to the development.
- 0:44Speaker 1: What do we need to consult about? I mean, does
- 0:45Speaker 1: it not make sense to go up? Given the traffic,
- 0:48Speaker 1: given all the problems we've got in this city. If
- 0:50Speaker 1: we're going to build spend billions building a city rail link,
- 0:53Speaker 1: then you know it doesn't not make sense to have
- 0:55Speaker 1: big buildings to house people next to them.
- 0:58Speaker 2: Yeah, look it does. I mean, yes, you have to
- 1:01Speaker 2: go up. There's not the land to go Sideway so
- 1:03Speaker 2: to speak. But I think people and our research shows
- 1:07Speaker 2: this is the key. We certainly want to have living
- 1:09Speaker 2: accommodation that gives them some sort of green space and
- 1:13Speaker 2: practical amenities and so on and so forth. And I'm
- 1:16Speaker 2: also slightly concerned about the parking issue as well, because
- 1:19Speaker 2: you don't want cars all parked during the evening on
- 1:23Speaker 2: what is it, New North Road. So it'd be interesting
- 1:26Speaker 2: to see what sort of the detail is in these plans.
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yeah, and whether the government will force the council to
- 1:32Speaker 1: do that, because if you leave leave it up to
- 1:33Speaker 1: the council, they don't like car parks, do.
- 1:35Speaker 2: They No, they don't. But look at the end of
- 1:38Speaker 2: the day, it's about, you know, do you want to
- 1:40Speaker 2: force this on people do you want to work with them?
- 1:43Speaker 2: And I would prefer to see the latter. But all
- 1:45Speaker 2: in all, I think it's a pretty good idea and
- 1:48Speaker 2: it's something we need. We just have to be pretty
- 1:50Speaker 2: careful how we manage the implementation of it.
- 1:52Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, Campbell, appreciate your time this morning. Campbellton noonhead
- 1:55Speaker 1: of network at l J hockat.
