- 0:03Speaker 1: Matt Flynn.
- 0:04Speaker 2: Let's go.
- 0:05Speaker 1: Let's go from a championship backfield to your morning drive.
- 0:08Speaker 3: Ham's Day. Hester and Hester got it five out a five.
- 0:12Speaker 1: You're locked in to Off the Bench Destrip Control the
- 0:19Speaker 1: Live from Downtown Baton Rouge. Here's Jacob Hester and Matt Flynn.
- 0:49Speaker 4: Work man o TV here on this Monday, Monday Monday,
- 0:53Speaker 4: Jake Flynn alone, are Aday Day all here with you
- 0:57Speaker 4: for the next three hours. And Tat had a couple
- 1:02Speaker 4: of fumbles there in the open.
- 1:03Speaker 3: But you can't blame him.
- 1:06Speaker 4: You have to say he finally switched to a team
- 1:11Speaker 4: that wins games on Sundays, and maybe he doesn't know
- 1:14Speaker 4: what to do with himself.
- 1:15Speaker 3: His Buccaneers won.
- 1:17Speaker 2: I know, in dramatic fashion in the situation that normally
- 1:22Speaker 2: when you go down, his team normally goes down. They
- 1:24Speaker 2: can't find their way back to win. Sure, but I'll
- 1:27Speaker 2: be darned Baker Mayfield and crew. They found a way
- 1:30Speaker 2: to win it. So good job would have switched by Taylor. Yeah,
- 1:35Speaker 2: his team won, I don't know, but like he my
- 1:38Speaker 2: team won.
- 1:42Speaker 3: And do not great. They got quote unquote embarrassed by
- 1:47Speaker 3: the Seahawks.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Yeah, it depends on who you're asking, you know, Yeah,
- 1:50Speaker 2: what about your team map? The best thing that could
- 1:53Speaker 2: have happened to him? They might be the greatest team
- 1:56Speaker 2: ever assembled. They just need a little slice of humble
- 2:00Speaker 2: pie packers. They lose to the Brownies. A mistake by
- 2:04Speaker 2: the Lake and a pretty wild one. Some embarrassing stuff
- 2:10Speaker 2: from him though, Jordan Love makes some crucial mistakes. What
- 2:13Speaker 2: are we doing? Yeah, we lost Taylor. I'm just wondering
- 2:16Speaker 2: if was there like a power surge that came through
- 2:18Speaker 2: the building. Knock those three TVs up?
- 2:21Speaker 3: Now, Okay, just off, They're just all off.
- 2:26Speaker 2: It's Monday. It's Monday. We're figuring it out. We hadn't
- 2:28Speaker 2: been in studio in like four days, no true, longer
- 2:33Speaker 2: than that. In a minute, and I feel like it.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I mean it feels like two weeks. Glad to be back.
- 2:38Speaker 4: Though, look I am not going to It's already Monday.
- 2:44Speaker 3: People are already trying to get back into.
- 2:46Speaker 4: The workflow, the flow of going back to school, a
- 2:50Speaker 4: case of the Mondays.
- 2:52Speaker 3: I am in no way.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Three minutes into the show, you're gonna start talking about
- 2:56Speaker 4: the New Orleans Saints that I am not bringing the
- 3:00Speaker 4: vibe down that quickly. Will we talk about it, of
- 3:03Speaker 4: course we will, but I ain't doing it three minutes
- 3:05Speaker 4: into the show.
- 3:07Speaker 3: It might be one of them situations. We just cropped
- 3:09Speaker 3: ust a little bit. Today. We're gonna maybe touch on
- 3:12Speaker 3: a little bit, sprinkle some water on there. Yeah, I
- 3:17Speaker 3: don't know.
- 3:17Speaker 2: I don't even really want to talk about LSU either.
- 3:19Speaker 2: That game is born noo. I'm fired up.
- 3:22Speaker 4: Actually talked about that game because I wanted to see
- 3:25Speaker 4: certain things, and I think I saw most of them.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I really got a lot of takeaways from it.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I think you do. I think you really do. From
- 3:33Speaker 4: the first team and the second team. I love a
- 3:36Speaker 4: game like that where you get the second team in
- 3:38Speaker 4: there and hey, don't raise your eyebrows, sir. You and
- 3:41Speaker 4: I have both been a part of the bomb squad
- 3:42Speaker 4: going in there and getting some valuable reps.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Absolutely, but I never really liked going in there at
- 3:48Speaker 2: the end of the game. What else were you going
- 3:50Speaker 2: to get in there?
- 3:51Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 3:52Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sitting there out you know, I'm playing fullback,
- 3:54Speaker 4: and then it's like, hey, bomb squad, you get to
- 3:56Speaker 4: go play tailback.
- 3:57Speaker 3: Let's go yep, carry the rocky Man to teach their own.
- 4:01Speaker 3: You know, we all have different opinions.
- 4:03Speaker 4: I mean, if you didn't get in, then like when
- 4:05Speaker 4: we're going to get in young in your career.
- 4:08Speaker 3: I know, it's just one of those sisuess.
- 4:09Speaker 2: I'd never like going in at the end of the
- 4:11Speaker 2: game because like there's no juice to the game. You've
- 4:14Speaker 2: been standing there for like three hours. You go in,
- 4:17Speaker 2: run razor rub, You run razor rub, you get like
- 4:20Speaker 2: base base calls. It's like a no win situation. You
- 4:26Speaker 2: get a little bit of experience, but that experience doesn't
- 4:28Speaker 2: really do anything for you. That experience didn't really counts.
- 4:31Speaker 2: Maybe for me, it doesn't make you better.
- 4:33Speaker 4: From my perspective, Like I was actually playing a different position,
- 4:38Speaker 4: so like that was the only real experience I was
- 4:40Speaker 4: going to get.
- 4:41Speaker 3: Sure, so like maybe that experience was different for me
- 4:43Speaker 3: than it was for you. Yeah, it was probably good
- 4:45Speaker 3: to hit the hole, get some contact a little bit.
- 4:48Speaker 2: But I mean you played, you played as a freshman,
- 4:50Speaker 2: like yeah, yeah, but mostly fullback, right yeah, But but
- 4:56Speaker 2: when you go in there, you do have to do
- 4:58Speaker 2: well because you're supposed to do well. You're going against
- 5:01Speaker 2: the backup for Southeastern at that point. Anyway, it just
- 5:08Speaker 2: one of it was one of those things that I
- 5:09Speaker 2: never really as a quarterback. It's like, all right, I
- 5:11Speaker 2: gotta go in there. I better look good because we're
- 5:14Speaker 2: blowing this team out. You have to do it. It's
- 5:17Speaker 2: a no lose situation because if you like, if you
- 5:21Speaker 2: look bad, then it's like.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Oh, this guy really the pick for us? Is he
- 5:24Speaker 3: really the backup? Is? Uh? Do we need to start rethinking.
- 5:27Speaker 2: It's like when I'd go in the when I'd go
- 5:29Speaker 2: in the game in the NFL or something, I'd be like, oh, gosh,
- 5:32Speaker 2: my job's on the line if I go in, If
- 5:33Speaker 2: I go in and mop up duty, I think.
- 5:36Speaker 3: I feel like my job's on the line.
- 5:37Speaker 2: Yeah, because this is the one situation you get to
- 5:39Speaker 2: go do it in a game.
- 5:42Speaker 3: Didn't feel that way in college.
- 5:44Speaker 2: I mean I did a little bit. You still feel
- 5:47Speaker 2: like your backup jobs on the line, and again in
- 5:50Speaker 2: a situation that's got no juice to it. No in
- 5:53Speaker 2: sich Well, anyway.
- 5:56Speaker 4: LSU did take care of business fifty six to ten.
- 6:00Speaker 4: Garret Nesmayer twenty five of thirty one, two seventy three
- 6:04Speaker 4: eight point eight yards per attempt three touchdowns, no turnovers,
- 6:08Speaker 4: and I think more importantly, the air yards went up.
- 6:12Speaker 4: Some of the throws that he made he hadn't been
- 6:15Speaker 4: making over the last couple of weeks, some spreating to
- 6:17Speaker 4: his left, across his body. Am I saying that it's
- 6:22Speaker 4: fully back to normal. Maybe not, but we did see
- 6:26Speaker 4: them do some things they haven't done in the first
- 6:29Speaker 4: three games of the season that they did here in
- 6:30Speaker 4: this fourth game.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they did. And he threw the ball really well.
- 6:35Speaker 2: Early in the game. He did not look like he
- 6:37Speaker 2: was throwing it very well. I noticed, like pushing the
- 6:40Speaker 2: ball to the sidelines is when when you're putting a
- 6:42Speaker 2: lot of stress on the core and your abs and
- 6:45Speaker 2: your and the twisting made some very some what it
- 6:51Speaker 2: looked like pretty weak throws. Now, it could have just
- 6:53Speaker 2: come out of his hand wrong. I mean, it could
- 6:54Speaker 2: have been early in the game, ball was sweaty something
- 6:56Speaker 2: like that. It might not have had anything to do
- 6:59Speaker 2: with the potential of that pain or whatever it is.
- 7:02Speaker 3: But most of his.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Air yards that were over, Like we talked about, the
- 7:05Speaker 2: easiest throws.
- 7:06Speaker 3: On your body are over the middle.
- 7:09Speaker 2: Because everything's lined up perfect, You're not having to like
- 7:11Speaker 2: twist and turn, and I think a lot of those
- 7:13Speaker 2: throws were of the middle dimes, like spinning it really well.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So answered a lot of questions there as far as
- 7:19Speaker 2: is he better is he healthy?
- 7:22Speaker 3: Now? The question I think that I.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Would still have is like was it still that necessary
- 7:26Speaker 2: to do all that and to risk all that?
- 7:30Speaker 3: I don't know, is he one ndred percent?
- 7:31Speaker 2: I don't know, Like you saw some you saw some
- 7:34Speaker 2: throws toward the sideline that were that were not Nussmeyer
- 7:37Speaker 2: esque as far as like arm strength. But every other throw,
- 7:41Speaker 2: of course there air yards on attempts, they went up
- 7:44Speaker 2: something just we haven't seen which was which was good
- 7:47Speaker 2: to see. But I think it's easy to get a
- 7:51Speaker 2: little too overly confident, overly excited about, you know, when
- 7:55Speaker 2: when you come out of these games, it's just people
- 7:58Speaker 2: are open that normally aren't gonna be open, right yeah,
- 8:01Speaker 2: And still you know they're they're the other teams trying
- 8:03Speaker 2: and the effort there, and the windows are you know,
- 8:06Speaker 2: they're not like wide open, but the windows are, and
- 8:09Speaker 2: the windows and the gaps that you're thrown to are
- 8:11Speaker 2: just unrealistic for going forward.
- 8:13Speaker 3: Uh.
- 8:13Speaker 2: But it's good to see him let it loose. He
- 8:16Speaker 2: still has arm talent. I'll be Doinged can still spin it. Yeah,
- 8:20Speaker 2: and that that was gonna be my biggest takeaway. That
- 8:22Speaker 2: was gonna be the thing that I was watching.
- 8:23Speaker 4: I mentioned on the broadcast like ten times, like Okay,
- 8:25Speaker 4: I want to see what he does. I want to
- 8:27Speaker 4: see how he looks, and I, like you said, I
- 8:29Speaker 4: mean some of those dos to the sideline. But I
- 8:31Speaker 4: did feel like as he got into the game flow,
- 8:33Speaker 4: as he got stretched, as he got warmed, as he
- 8:35Speaker 4: got juiced up, like it did continue to go up
- 8:38Speaker 4: a little bit, and we did see things that we
- 8:40Speaker 4: haven't seen in the first three weeks. And they spread
- 8:42Speaker 4: the ball to a lot of receivers. That was another
- 8:45Speaker 4: good thing in this game. Bower Sharp has five catches,
- 8:48Speaker 4: Baryon Brown has five catches, Kyle Parker had for Aaron
- 8:50Speaker 4: Anderson had three. And then I mean you got a
- 8:53Speaker 4: host of tigers that had multiple underneath that as well.
- 8:56Speaker 3: So passing game the receivers your core.
- 9:00Speaker 4: I mean, Michael Van Buren comes into the game, He's
- 9:03Speaker 4: ten of twelve, one hundred and twenty two yards ten
- 9:05Speaker 4: point two yards per attempt, had a touchdown on the
- 9:08Speaker 4: ground and through the air. Nest Meyer also had one
- 9:10Speaker 4: on the ground. Another sign I think you know of
- 9:14Speaker 4: maybe him continuing to get healthy. He had his career
- 9:17Speaker 4: long run. Wow, twenty six yards.
- 9:20Speaker 3: He let the people know too, he did his previous
- 9:23Speaker 3: career long.
- 9:24Speaker 5: I won't take guess thirteen, all right, Landra won't take
- 9:27Speaker 5: guests ten Taylor like currently or before tonight, before dust
- 9:33Speaker 5: Meyer's twenty six yard run, his career high before that,
- 9:36Speaker 5: fourteen yards.
- 9:37Speaker 4: It was fourteen yards, Taylor, listen, nerd alert. So he
- 9:41Speaker 4: almost doubled that you were close if he wouldn't have
- 9:45Speaker 4: said fourteen.
- 9:47Speaker 3: He knew it. Yeah, he knew min was just a guess. Yeah,
- 9:50Speaker 3: it was a guess on my part.
- 9:51Speaker 2: Guys.
- 9:51Speaker 4: Oh yeah, he said that too confidently. So, I mean
- 9:55Speaker 4: he almost doubled his career long run. Those are good things,
- 9:59Speaker 4: and he was very excited. He was letting people know,
- 10:01Speaker 4: you're twenty six yards. He's very excited. What do if
- 10:05Speaker 4: he got would have gotten in the end zone? Would
- 10:07Speaker 4: he have stepped over like Arc Manning did? But he
- 10:11Speaker 4: stepped over over as Sam Houston player or a same
- 10:13Speaker 4: Houston player up Probably not pathetic.
- 10:16Speaker 3: Yeah, he's just going to give him a weekend loser
- 10:19Speaker 3: for that that was pathetic. He didn't even run over
- 10:21Speaker 3: the guy. The guy came in late and like kind
- 10:23Speaker 3: of like touching on the hip a little bit. Big boy.
- 10:26Speaker 3: In Texas social media.
- 10:27Speaker 2: What if he would have done that, he would have
- 10:30Speaker 2: put the short guy, yeah, too little.
- 10:32Speaker 6: I saw that the Texas social media probably worse though,
- 10:35Speaker 6: because first off I saw one that said arch Manning
- 10:39Speaker 6: back to his old self?
- 10:41Speaker 3: What's his old self? Which is another dumbine, And then they're.
- 10:44Speaker 2: Like playing playing inferior opponents like a nice gools.
- 10:48Speaker 6: True, he did, he did, really did it once last
- 10:50Speaker 6: year too, Like you're standing over a Sam Houston player.
- 10:55Speaker 6: They don't even spell bearcats correctly.
- 10:57Speaker 3: Sure, what the hell are we doing here? Yeah, that's
- 11:00Speaker 3: your people.
- 11:01Speaker 2: That yels people like, I'm not gonna I'm not gonna
- 11:03Speaker 2: blame Mark on like the adrenalines pumping. You got a
- 11:06Speaker 2: lot of all this, you know, all this stuff like
- 11:08Speaker 2: whatever I mean, But to put it out there like that,
- 11:12Speaker 2: that's pretty rough.
- 11:12Speaker 3: Luck. Yeah, multiple angles, multiple times. Yeah.
- 11:16Speaker 2: Look, what if Garrett would have tried to big boy something,
- 11:19Speaker 2: I'd have been like, you can run cool, cool, But.
- 11:23Speaker 3: He dean it was good.
- 11:25Speaker 2: Look, I'm not going to like, get too excited about
- 11:27Speaker 2: him running for twenty yards against Southeastern. I'm not going
- 11:29Speaker 2: to get too excited about him completing some good passes.
- 11:32Speaker 4: Well see, but I hear, yeah, I hear. I do
- 11:36Speaker 4: hear what you say. And we've been through those games
- 11:38Speaker 4: aka the purple Jersey games. But I do think you
- 11:40Speaker 4: can get excited the fact that you know, he showed
- 11:43Speaker 4: he can run.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I'm talking about health wise. He has a quarterback sneak.
- 11:46Speaker 4: They don't call that if they you know, I feel
- 11:49Speaker 4: like they're putting him in harm's way. And he did
- 11:51Speaker 4: make some throws that we haven't seen him make yet.
- 11:53Speaker 4: So I don't care about the result. I really don't.
- 11:57Speaker 4: I just care about, Okay, he's progressing and doing things
- 11:59Speaker 4: we haven't yet. You don't think so, well, yeah, I'm
- 12:05Speaker 4: I'm I mean, it looks really good.
- 12:08Speaker 2: I'm not going to consider he get too excited and
- 12:10Speaker 2: trying to like wax poetic about like our offense is back.
- 12:15Speaker 4: I wouldn't say that either, but I would say that
- 12:17Speaker 4: at least we saw things physically from him.
- 12:20Speaker 2: Tell like the competition difference there is like in high
- 12:25Speaker 2: school terms, it's five A versus two A. The competition different. Now,
- 12:28Speaker 2: like would you get like how much do you look
- 12:30Speaker 2: into this? Yes, you can, like we can knit like
- 12:32Speaker 2: with a like a magnifying glass and be like, but
- 12:35Speaker 2: he's made good throws this year over the middle, he's
- 12:37Speaker 2: made he's done this or that. Yes, And the game
- 12:39Speaker 2: plan was a lot different. So the woes before this
- 12:44Speaker 2: weren't necessarily the throws he could or couldn't make. It
- 12:46Speaker 2: was having a game plan around yeah, what they thought
- 12:50Speaker 2: the throws that he couldn't make. So it was like
- 12:54Speaker 2: clear and obvious that they were trying to like prove
- 12:57Speaker 2: a point this past weekend and push it and do
- 13:01Speaker 2: a quarterback sink and like do all those do a
- 13:03Speaker 2: couple of different things. What game plan's got to open
- 13:07Speaker 2: up against real opponents. So, oh, and you got one
- 13:10Speaker 2: this week and you got one in five days, you got.
- 13:13Speaker 3: Well, we got an opportunity, big opportunity. It is. We'll
- 13:16Speaker 3: get to the rushing attack.
- 13:18Speaker 4: Now, the total numbers because in college I still just
- 13:22Speaker 4: hate that we do this, but would take sack yards
- 13:25Speaker 4: away from the rushing total, but still it is what
- 13:27Speaker 4: it is. So you had thirty five carries, one hundred
- 13:30Speaker 4: and thirty five yards, three point nine yards per attempt
- 13:32Speaker 4: four touchdowns on the ground again though they take that
- 13:36Speaker 4: Gary Nesmyer sack yardage away, so his stat line is
- 13:39Speaker 4: five carries for ten yards, even though he did have
- 13:42Speaker 4: you know, twenty six yard run alone. He had the
- 13:44Speaker 4: longest run by the way of the night. There's still
- 13:48Speaker 4: some things there that's for sure, that need to continue
- 13:51Speaker 4: to get cleaned up, continue to work on. I did
- 13:55Speaker 4: think Juwan Johnson was a bright spot. I didn't think
- 13:58Speaker 4: he created on his own a couple of different times.
- 14:00Speaker 4: He ended up having two scores eight for forty three.
- 14:03Speaker 4: But there's still.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Knt Durham the way he continues to not be like
- 14:07Speaker 2: he's I don't think he the the outside zone stuff.
- 14:10Speaker 2: I don't think he does real well at this point.
- 14:12Speaker 2: Is he didn't see it right now, doesn't see it
- 14:14Speaker 2: right now. I think we pointed out there lip was
- 14:17Speaker 2: the last week was the last week?
- 14:19Speaker 3: Who is it against Florida? Yeah, it was against.
- 14:21Speaker 2: Part where it was corner, a little bit stretch and
- 14:24Speaker 2: didn't push it. And he did it again this week
- 14:26Speaker 2: a couple of times where he just didn't couldn't push
- 14:28Speaker 2: it enough.
- 14:29Speaker 3: And he had some big openings too.
- 14:31Speaker 2: If he just kept he keeps wanting to cut back,
- 14:33Speaker 2: which he's He's like an inside He's an inside zone guy.
- 14:35Speaker 2: That's where he's comfortable. He's running. He's comfortable in the
- 14:38Speaker 2: A and B gaps, and he'll get there. That's just that,
- 14:41Speaker 2: that's a repetition thing. He's got to see it, got
- 14:43Speaker 2: to continue to see it on film and see what
- 14:44Speaker 2: he's doing wrong and learn his learn his amy points,
- 14:47Speaker 2: how to press it, where to press it, so he'll
- 14:49Speaker 2: get there. He's just not seeing that outside zone real
- 14:51Speaker 2: well yet.
- 14:53Speaker 4: All right, we'll be back more OTB here on one
- 14:57Speaker 4: four five ESPN Benterroute, which all right, hopefully you enjoyed
- 15:04Speaker 4: some ice cold do Sechis during the tailgate this weekend.
- 15:07Speaker 4: It is always a great time to go for dose.
- 15:10Speaker 4: When you're getting your tailgate package together, you gotta have
- 15:13Speaker 4: the essentials. What are the essentials, Well, you gotta have
- 15:15Speaker 4: the tent, you gotta have the TV, you gotta have
- 15:17Speaker 4: the generator, and of course you gotta have the ice
- 15:20Speaker 4: cold do sechis. One of the cool things walking around
- 15:22Speaker 4: tailgates over the last couple of weeks, people are letting
- 15:25Speaker 4: us know that they are going for dose. They have
- 15:27Speaker 4: made the change. If they were drinking something else before.
- 15:30Speaker 4: They are now on team do seqis, you should be
- 15:33Speaker 4: as well.
- 15:33Speaker 3: Go for dose.
- 15:35Speaker 2: How about you, Javien dose seconds? Did you delete a
- 15:38Speaker 2: couple of beers this week? See I had to work
- 15:41Speaker 2: on Saturday. I leave all of that to you, sir.
- 15:43Speaker 2: Well we didn't have to. Uh we didn't go to
- 15:45Speaker 2: the game this weekend. Big shocker, I guess, But I
- 15:48Speaker 2: guess what. I was at home watching some college football
- 15:51Speaker 2: at the house, going for dose, drinking dose secings.
- 15:54Speaker 3: That's what I do.
- 15:55Speaker 2: That's how I enjoyed myself. So if you're gonna drink
- 15:57Speaker 2: a couple of beers, make sure it's a dead secis.
- 15:59Speaker 2: Stay thirsty, my friends.
- 16:05Speaker 3: Sure day.
- 16:25Speaker 1: From players to Legends, Hester and Flynn breakdown l s
- 16:28Speaker 1: U football like only champions can.
- 16:31Speaker 3: Oh you.
- 16:33Speaker 1: Mean the boy.
- 16:40Speaker 3: Is broken? Wednesday from down the joke?
- 16:49Speaker 7: All right, welcome back you know TV Monday morning taking
- 17:07Speaker 7: looking at LSU.
- 17:08Speaker 3: We'll get to the Saints again. I am not this
- 17:11Speaker 3: too early.
- 17:12Speaker 2: Imil early for all that I want to apologize or
- 17:14Speaker 2: if I really feel like I brought that first segment down,
- 17:17Speaker 2: I wasn't really trying to be that negative.
- 17:20Speaker 3: You're a negat tiger.
- 17:20Speaker 2: I'm just trying to pump the brakes on everything a
- 17:23Speaker 2: little bit. I just don't get as excited as other
- 17:29Speaker 2: people do about winning a game about forty six. I mean,
- 17:35Speaker 2: I don't think I've been bashful about not liking those
- 17:37Speaker 2: types of games. I don't think you'd get better at all.
- 17:40Speaker 2: But anyway, I regrets. I'm so happy we won. Nobody
- 17:44Speaker 2: fires back. Nobody asked you to do that.
- 17:48Speaker 3: What what you just did. If you didn't like it,
- 17:51Speaker 3: you didn't like it, That's true. It was kind of
- 17:53Speaker 3: a sarcastic apology.
- 17:56Speaker 2: I just didn't want to bring the interview down in
- 17:57Speaker 2: the room because I felt like everybody was just kind
- 17:59Speaker 2: of like snarling at me a little bit.
- 18:04Speaker 3: Actually, never matter. I don't really care what you'll think.
- 18:07Speaker 3: I mean, I'm kind of with you, so I'm not
- 18:08Speaker 3: snarling over here.
- 18:12Speaker 4: Some of the tail of the tape, LSU had thirty
- 18:14Speaker 4: two first down, Southeastern had ten. On third down, LSU
- 18:17Speaker 4: was nine of fourteen, Southeastern was one of ten on
- 18:21Speaker 4: fourth down, LSU was three of three.
- 18:22Speaker 3: Southeastern was oh four one total yards.
- 18:26Speaker 4: LSU five thirty Southeastern two O five, rushing one thirty
- 18:31Speaker 4: five to eighty nine in favor of LSU. You did
- 18:34Speaker 4: have seven penalties, they only had five, and you did
- 18:37Speaker 4: control the clock thirty four forty four.
- 18:39Speaker 3: To twenty five sixteen.
- 18:41Speaker 4: What about the defense, mat You're going to interest you
- 18:43Speaker 4: in the defense again?
- 18:45Speaker 2: Being dominant, it looked like the better defense out there.
- 18:48Speaker 2: They were great, They look great, they all, I mean,
- 18:53Speaker 2: but they've looked amazing every week. They gotta be best
- 18:57Speaker 2: defense I've seen obviously in a while, a long while here.
- 19:02Speaker 2: It's just the energy that they play with that we
- 19:04Speaker 2: were watching like wit Week's playing And how does a
- 19:09Speaker 2: man go out there play that hard every single play,
- 19:12Speaker 2: no matter what the opponent is. It's impressive to watch,
- 19:16Speaker 2: it's inspiring to watch, and they just feed off each other.
- 19:21Speaker 3: Man. So from the top down we keep saying it.
- 19:24Speaker 2: I mean, how many times can we wax poetic about
- 19:26Speaker 2: Blake Baker and the leadership there. But man, they just
- 19:29Speaker 2: they are a full and complete defense, and you know,
- 19:36Speaker 2: I watch it and very impressed with it. But I'm
- 19:39Speaker 2: impressed we can weak out. So it really doesn't matter
- 19:41Speaker 2: the type of opponent they're playing, how good the opponent is,
- 19:45Speaker 2: they play with the same energy, which.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Is really really hard to do.
- 19:48Speaker 2: It is hard to go into those games right there
- 19:50Speaker 2: and play with that much energy every single play.
- 19:54Speaker 3: Yeah, you can.
- 19:55Speaker 2: Do it like usually you see it, like on a
- 19:57Speaker 2: third down passing the situations, guys will get at it
- 20:00Speaker 2: because they know it's time to eat a little bit.
- 20:02Speaker 2: They know they can get some sacks and get some stats,
- 20:04Speaker 2: get a pick, whatever it is. But every single play
- 20:08Speaker 2: really great to see. So that's that DNA that the
- 20:11Speaker 2: foundation of that defense is going to continue to get
- 20:16Speaker 2: better because they have proven now for four weeks that
- 20:19Speaker 2: they are going to play with that tenacity, that energy.
- 20:22Speaker 2: But the more weeks they have to play together in
- 20:24Speaker 2: gel a little.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Bit more and get more and more chemist weeks they
- 20:27Speaker 4: already got three of them.
- 20:29Speaker 3: Sorry, that was good. That was great.
- 20:37Speaker 2: Yeah, the more they get to play with each other,
- 20:40Speaker 2: the more the better this defense is going to get
- 20:43Speaker 2: so excited to see how they continue to grow in
- 20:46Speaker 2: their progression. You know, knock on wood that they continue
- 20:49Speaker 2: to stay healthy. But from the energy standpoint and how
- 20:52Speaker 2: they play, man, I love it, absolutely love it.
- 20:58Speaker 3: All right.
- 20:59Speaker 2: So and no, the star is not my favorite position, Scott,
- 21:02Speaker 2: you love it. It's not a position it is, it's
- 21:04Speaker 2: a mindset. We've talked about this.
- 21:06Speaker 4: You know, I get the starting lineups from the broadcast,
- 21:09Speaker 4: and it's like every week, starting to see that star
- 21:11Speaker 4: position pop up. Okay, starting to see it at star
- 21:17Speaker 4: you know, whatever number in the player's name. But I
- 21:20Speaker 4: say it a lot.
- 21:21Speaker 2: After the Clemson game, I told you I admitted that
- 21:25Speaker 2: the star was real. It's not a real position, but
- 21:28Speaker 2: it's a real mindset. Okay, all right, So I want
- 21:32Speaker 2: to do this.
- 21:32Speaker 4: I want to take a break and when we come back,
- 21:35Speaker 4: maybe pick your brain a little bit on how you
- 21:37Speaker 4: think lane Kiffin might try to attack this defense. This
- 21:41Speaker 4: defense that has been really good. They have not given
- 21:44Speaker 4: up more than ten points to any opponent this year.
- 21:46Speaker 4: One of the best defenses in the country. Obviously, little
- 21:50Speaker 4: miss lane Kiffin score a lot of points. They house
- 21:53Speaker 4: a good two lane team over the weekend. And we'll
- 21:56Speaker 4: do all of that. When we jump back here. It
- 21:58Speaker 4: is OTB the bench.
- 22:01Speaker 3: I go to Central Plumbing dot Org.
- 22:04Speaker 4: Remember though, it's not only in Central, it's the entire
- 22:07Speaker 4: greater Baton Rouge area.
- 22:08Speaker 3: We are talking to you.
- 22:09Speaker 4: They can help you with any of your plumbing needs,
- 22:12Speaker 4: and it's not just in emergencies, and they can help
- 22:15Speaker 4: you in an emergency, but we're talking about it. If
- 22:17Speaker 4: you're looking to upgrade at your home, at your business,
- 22:19Speaker 4: whatever it might be, it can be big, small, everywhere
- 22:21Speaker 4: in between. If you're looking to go tankless with a
- 22:23Speaker 4: tankless water heater and never run out of hot water again.
- 22:27Speaker 3: You get home late, it's okay.
- 22:28Speaker 4: You gotta do laundry, you gotta do dishes, you still
- 22:30Speaker 4: got a shower, It is okay. You don't have to
- 22:32Speaker 4: wait for the water to heat back up because you
- 22:34Speaker 4: went tankless with central plumbing Central Plumbing dot Org.
- 22:37Speaker 3: That's right.
- 22:37Speaker 2: If whatever your project is, like if you're about to
- 22:40Speaker 2: start a project, maybe it's a little bathroom renovation, maybe
- 22:44Speaker 2: it's a whole new house, or maybe you just have
- 22:46Speaker 2: a toilet that it running in it won't stop. Whatever
- 22:49Speaker 2: it is, they can handle the job, big or small,
- 22:51Speaker 2: residential commercial, give them a call. I know, yeah, twenty
- 22:55Speaker 2: four to seven emergency service, so you can call them whenever,
- 22:57Speaker 2: no matter the day, no matter the time. If something's
- 22:59Speaker 2: in is she called two two five nine eight five
- 23:02Speaker 2: two Central plumbingment dot or.
- 23:19Speaker 1: I'm holding on your road gutment some feet off the ground.
- 23:27Speaker 1: You know, tigers turn talkers. This is off the bench.
- 23:35Speaker 1: You tell me that your need Evin, you go and
- 23:38Speaker 1: come me down, wat.
- 23:43Speaker 3: Tell me that you're sorry. Didn't you think a turn around?
- 23:49Speaker 6: Sh child?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Yeah, Matt, it's too late to apologize for that weak juice.
- 23:59Speaker 2: You brought this more I didn't bring the week. You
- 24:01Speaker 2: know about the weak juice. Whoever scheduled LUs shoot in
- 24:05Speaker 2: Southeast take that weak.
- 24:08Speaker 3: Stuff out of here. Would you like the schedule? I
- 24:11Speaker 3: don't know.
- 24:12Speaker 2: I'd like everybody to schedule real football. Not okay, I
- 24:17Speaker 2: am throwing shade, but not to throw a shade. Just
- 24:19Speaker 2: everyone play at the level that they that they're supposed
- 24:22Speaker 2: to play at, play at your level. I'm with him, Sorry,
- 24:26Speaker 2: but it looks great, Garrett. That about Wow, he looks
- 24:28Speaker 2: healthy and percent. I like that you went for one
- 24:32Speaker 2: hundred and twenty. Then you're like, that's too much, too much.
- 24:39Speaker 2: I didn't want to be I didn't want to come
- 24:41Speaker 2: up too sarcastic. I'm just excited. I'm excited that he played,
- 24:45Speaker 2: decided that we risked it for the biscuit.
- 24:48Speaker 3: We're back.
- 24:49Speaker 2: That chemistry we got from this past game is going
- 24:52Speaker 2: to lead us to the national championship.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Yeah, let's go.
- 24:57Speaker 4: Is there anything we can change about your mood here
- 25:01Speaker 4: or is it just our face?
- 25:02Speaker 3: It's just yeah, okay, all right your face? Can you
- 25:06Speaker 3: do that job? Everybody's having fun, so much fun. Yeah.
- 25:10Speaker 2: Look, it's gonna be so much positivity on this on
- 25:14Speaker 2: this station all day long. It's gonna be positive, positive, positive.
- 25:17Speaker 2: So somebody's got to counter punch a little bit.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Right, I mean, I don't know. I say you the
- 25:21Speaker 3: Saints will.
- 25:22Speaker 2: Come up about l s U positivity. Yeah, that's a
- 25:26Speaker 2: good point. Saints do have to be talked about at
- 25:28Speaker 2: some point.
- 25:30Speaker 4: To your point earlier though, like on the strength of
- 25:33Speaker 4: schedule Clemson, Oh my god, good.
- 25:36Speaker 6: Ye Florida, we all we all need to be cheering,
- 25:40Speaker 6: not good like they win.
- 25:44Speaker 3: Lose?
- 25:45Speaker 2: Do we have the weakest strength of schedule so far
- 25:47Speaker 2: this year of any team in the country.
- 25:49Speaker 6: Still break Like I know, somebody, all the two fans
- 25:52Speaker 6: are like Clemson lost again, Like you should want Clemson
- 25:55Speaker 6: to win every game?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Right, why do you want? I do hear what you
- 25:59Speaker 3: are saying.
- 26:01Speaker 4: But also LSU's gonna have five opportunities to have a
- 26:06Speaker 4: resume builder coming up. All of it doesn't matter you're
- 26:11Speaker 4: number four in the it doesn't matter you're in the SEC.
- 26:14Speaker 4: So like, I get what we're saying about Crimson, but
- 26:17Speaker 4: that's gonna take care of itself.
- 26:18Speaker 3: If you win your games, you're in. I feel like
- 26:20Speaker 3: laughing at Dabo in the demise of Clemson. I do.
- 26:23Speaker 3: It's it's funny to me, he says.
- 26:25Speaker 6: Seeing this week that he said last week like almost
- 26:27Speaker 6: of Herbatam, did you all hear his press conference?
- 26:29Speaker 3: No, I mean it was.
- 26:31Speaker 6: He basically could have just replayed the one from last
- 26:33Speaker 6: week and win again.
- 26:35Speaker 2: And he's gonna melt again this week at some point, right,
- 26:38Speaker 2: he'll melt in a press conference. And so like, I
- 26:41Speaker 2: agree with you. I always want to cheer for the
- 26:43Speaker 2: people that LSU beats, or cheer for people at LSU's schedule,
- 26:47Speaker 2: just for that, because the optics. I want us to
- 26:49Speaker 2: be better, and I want to play good opponents, and
- 26:51Speaker 2: the people we beat, I want them to be good.
- 26:53Speaker 2: But I was cheering against them this week, just because
- 26:56Speaker 2: the meltdowns of Dabo are pretty funny. Coming out a
- 27:02Speaker 2: couple of days before. It's like he's telling everybody, well,
- 27:05Speaker 2: if they want to stop winning, then they can get
- 27:07Speaker 2: rid of me. No, they just want to stop losing,
- 27:10Speaker 2: so stop losing. But I'll tell you what. That man
- 27:13Speaker 2: it's got knees of steel. I've watched him run down
- 27:16Speaker 2: that hill purposefully because I wanted to witness if he
- 27:19Speaker 2: was going down that man attacks that hill and respect
- 27:23Speaker 2: to him and his knees.
- 27:25Speaker 6: I could see on the Clemson game watching the runout.
- 27:28Speaker 6: You're like, all right, he didn't do it, change handle.
- 27:30Speaker 2: I did, Oh yeah, well okay, So I have I
- 27:32Speaker 2: have my I have a TV, and then I roll
- 27:34Speaker 2: in another TV. Right, so I have like and so
- 27:38Speaker 2: my big TV I'll put it like on like four boxes,
- 27:42Speaker 2: and then my other rolling TV I'll have it on
- 27:45Speaker 2: a big one game. So my one game is the
- 27:47Speaker 2: one I like watch intently a lot, and so I
- 27:51Speaker 2: had it on the main TV, my main TV. And
- 27:54Speaker 2: so after he ran down the hill, I did change
- 27:55Speaker 2: it from the main TV to just kind of the
- 27:57Speaker 2: background TV screens of you have I got two, but
- 28:01Speaker 2: I got the got the four box in the I
- 28:03Speaker 2: got the four box on my big TV.
- 28:06Speaker 3: And then I have a roll in TV that I
- 28:08Speaker 3: put just one game on.
- 28:09Speaker 6: You watch games like your Tony Stark.
- 28:11Speaker 3: It's right, this is my job now, guys in hands
- 28:15Speaker 3: in hands in hands.
- 28:17Speaker 2: So five games I got five games going at once,
- 28:21Speaker 2: regardless if Clemson continues to win or not.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Again.
- 28:26Speaker 4: For LSU, you just have to go out there and
- 28:28Speaker 4: continue to take care of business. Like you've got everything
- 28:31Speaker 4: on your schedule that's going to be like resume builders.
- 28:35Speaker 4: So for you, you just had to win an opening game,
- 28:38Speaker 4: which you did. You had to beat a rival in Florida,
- 28:40Speaker 4: which you did. Like, I don't know what those teams
- 28:42Speaker 4: are going to look like at the end of the season,
- 28:44Speaker 4: but you got to control the controllables. You got to
- 28:47Speaker 4: control what is on your schedule, and that's what you've
- 28:49Speaker 4: done so far. Well, now here it comes, it's going
- 28:52Speaker 4: to start to heat up, and this is a great
- 28:55Speaker 4: opponent coming up this week.
- 28:57Speaker 3: You have a team that certainly is high offense.
- 29:00Speaker 4: They losto a lot of their defense, and we saw
- 29:02Speaker 4: Arkansas have a lot of success against them on the
- 29:06Speaker 4: on their defense and offensively for Arkansas like they had
- 29:09Speaker 4: a big game. Now you've got South Carolina after this one,
- 29:14Speaker 4: and we'll see where South Carolina is a couple of
- 29:17Speaker 4: weeks from now. But the focus being on Old Miss
- 29:19Speaker 4: and this one it's on the road. The last two
- 29:22Speaker 4: games you've had against this team have been crazy games.
- 29:25Speaker 4: I mean we remember Jayden and Malik and BTJ and
- 29:29Speaker 4: that offense going to Oxford, and I mean they did
- 29:32Speaker 4: every possible thing that they could to try to win
- 29:35Speaker 4: that game. The defense just could not come up with
- 29:38Speaker 4: a stop. Couldn't come up with the stop, and you
- 29:41Speaker 4: still had a chance. They're in the end zone. You
- 29:43Speaker 4: had a receiver with the ball hit his hands, and
- 29:47Speaker 4: you almost won that game even though you couldn't come
- 29:49Speaker 4: up with a defensive stop. And then you have last year,
- 29:53Speaker 4: Kyron Lacy catches the pass and overtime and lsu wins.
- 29:57Speaker 4: When it looked like Old Miss had controlled that game
- 30:00Speaker 4: through out, you come back in the fourth quarter, Garrett
- 30:02Speaker 4: Nosemeyer makes one of the best throws all year to
- 30:04Speaker 4: Aaron Anderson to tie it up, and we all know
- 30:06Speaker 4: you win in overtime. Like I said, they've been crazy games,
- 30:09Speaker 4: They've been great games. You might get something now. I'm
- 30:12Speaker 4: not saying the score line is going to look the
- 30:14Speaker 4: same as those games, but you're probably gonna get something
- 30:16Speaker 4: very similar to that. Right now, the ESPN matchup predictor
- 30:21Speaker 4: has Ole Miss with a seventy three point three percent
- 30:24Speaker 4: chance to win this game. Wow, seventy three point three
- 30:28Speaker 4: percent chance. Old Miss right now, they're the favorite. This
- 30:32Speaker 4: game opened up LSU minus one and a half, it's
- 30:35Speaker 4: now Ole Miss minus two and a half.
- 30:37Speaker 2: Yeah, and I'm I was, I'm looking at that and
- 30:40Speaker 2: I'm trying to figure out.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Why that.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean both teams are four and zero, and
- 30:48Speaker 2: Taylor you'd mentioned it too, like LS you got jumped
- 30:51Speaker 2: in the rankings by some of they didn't play, And
- 30:54Speaker 2: it has to do with the computer strength to schedule, right,
- 30:57Speaker 2: the strength to schedule of our win verse is forwarda.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Clemson doesn't look very good anymore so, and the way
- 31:06Speaker 2: we want them, it wasn't like a blowout or anything
- 31:08Speaker 2: like that. So that strength the scedule has got to
- 31:10Speaker 2: be the reason for a lot of this stuff, the
- 31:11Speaker 2: reason for us being an underdog right now at Ole
- 31:14Speaker 2: Miss and getting jumped by somebody that didn't even play
- 31:17Speaker 2: after having a blowout victory. So yeah, the strength of
- 31:20Speaker 2: schedules probably adjusting a lot of this. But like this
- 31:23Speaker 2: is LSU Ole Miss, this is a rivalry game. You
- 31:28Speaker 2: never really know what's going to happen. Lane Kiffin. I mean,
- 31:31Speaker 2: they go out there and they beat a really good
- 31:32Speaker 2: two lane team with a backup quarterback.
- 31:35Speaker 3: So they have a team they got.
- 31:36Speaker 2: I mean, we all know that they lost a lot
- 31:38Speaker 2: of talent ft from last year's team, but they've reloaded
- 31:42Speaker 2: and I'll be durned to flank of it in a
- 31:45Speaker 2: good head coach and can field a good team. So
- 31:47Speaker 2: this is going to be a test for both teams
- 31:50Speaker 2: to see how good each of these teams really is.
- 31:53Speaker 2: I think there's a lot of question marks I guess
- 31:57Speaker 2: that we have where the public has on the like
- 31:59Speaker 2: how good good is LSU really after the two big
- 32:03Speaker 2: opponents we lost have turned out to start out one
- 32:05Speaker 2: and three.
- 32:07Speaker 3: So we'll see.
- 32:08Speaker 2: So if I'm the big the big tail of the
- 32:11Speaker 2: tape is going to be Lane Kiffin on what he
- 32:13Speaker 2: is going to do, how he is going to attack
- 32:15Speaker 2: this dynamic and this just brutal LSU defense that they're
- 32:19Speaker 2: going to be facing.
- 32:22Speaker 3: So how is he going to attack?
- 32:23Speaker 2: And now he's got four weeks of film? Now yeah,
- 32:27Speaker 2: now I understand Clemson had no answers. They didn't know
- 32:31Speaker 2: what they were going to get Florida. You know, they
- 32:34Speaker 2: had a couple of weeks of film. But now Lane Kiffin,
- 32:38Speaker 2: a good offensive mind, has a couple of a couple
- 32:40Speaker 2: of weeks of tape to go off of, and so
- 32:42Speaker 2: how is he going to attack it? So that kind
- 32:44Speaker 2: of remains me seen And can you actually honestly think
- 32:48Speaker 2: that you can devise a game plan that will consistently
- 32:51Speaker 2: move the ball or do you have to just rely
- 32:53Speaker 2: on hitting a couple of really good big plays. So
- 32:56Speaker 2: I think that might be what this LSU team is,
- 32:58Speaker 2: this LSU defense is. If you're an offense going against it,
- 33:01Speaker 2: they are so good and so dynamic, and you got
- 33:03Speaker 2: so much talent and so aggressive that you might have
- 33:06Speaker 2: to rely on taking advantage of hitting a couple of
- 33:10Speaker 2: big plays and then holding, you know, then holding LSU's offense.
- 33:14Speaker 2: But if I'm Lane Kiffin, what I'm trying to do,
- 33:16Speaker 2: If I'm attacking this LSU defense, you have to be
- 33:20Speaker 2: a counterpuncher. So LSU's a big, big heavyweight. They want
- 33:24Speaker 2: to come out swinging, They want to put the pressure
- 33:27Speaker 2: on you, make you make decisions quick. So as an offense,
- 33:31Speaker 2: you got to be a counterpuncher. You have to adjust
- 33:33Speaker 2: to the pressures. You have to make mike adjustments, you
- 33:37Speaker 2: have to make hot route adjustments. You have to throw
- 33:40Speaker 2: into the blitz, you have to throw into the pressure.
- 33:43Speaker 2: You have to take what they're gonna do because they're
- 33:45Speaker 2: gonna LSU is gonna have haymakers. Yeah, you have to
- 33:48Speaker 2: be able to CounterPunch that with quick shots. So it's
- 33:55Speaker 2: like if we always were taught with the teams at
- 33:58Speaker 2: pressure a lot you throw right into the teeth pressure
- 34:01Speaker 2: because where they come from, they lead voice, they.
- 34:03Speaker 3: Lead voids LSU.
- 34:05Speaker 2: The safeties are doing a really good job of filling
- 34:08Speaker 2: the gap or filling that void when linebackers leave it,
- 34:11Speaker 2: but they fill it from pretty high up. So you know,
- 34:16Speaker 2: in a college you don't get it a lot. But
- 34:18Speaker 2: in the NFL, we wasn't really hot routes we would run.
- 34:21Speaker 2: It was just called peaking.
- 34:23Speaker 3: Yeah, so like it doesn't matter what rout but you
- 34:25Speaker 3: peak to see if the quarterback throws it, yeah you peek.
- 34:27Speaker 2: If so, if someone comes off your face or they
- 34:30Speaker 2: blitz from the slot and you're the slot receiver, you
- 34:34Speaker 2: you peak, You peak your first.
- 34:35Speaker 3: Couple of steps.
- 34:36Speaker 2: And so that was like the most dynamic thing that
- 34:38Speaker 2: we could ever do against the pressure thrown into it.
- 34:41Speaker 2: So I have to believe that Lane Kiffin watching this
- 34:45Speaker 2: film is figuring out how to design an offense and
- 34:49Speaker 2: calls and audibles and check with mes and things like
- 34:52Speaker 2: that that will be completely counterpunching. Not necessarily hard play
- 34:56Speaker 2: action fake throwing it over the top, But how can
- 34:59Speaker 2: we get how can can we get quick throws over
- 35:02Speaker 2: the middle, How can we throw into pressure? How can
- 35:04Speaker 2: we throw screens into pressure? Whether it's a number three
- 35:08Speaker 2: receiver running a flat route in the outside two blocking,
- 35:11Speaker 2: or the number one running a one step slant and
- 35:13Speaker 2: the inside two receivers blocking, those are all ways the CounterPunch.
- 35:17Speaker 4: So one of the things that I think LSU does
- 35:20Speaker 4: really really well speaking of like bringing the pressure and
- 35:22Speaker 4: different things. And I was watching it closely this weekend.
- 35:25Speaker 4: You know, it's a different game flow, and so you
- 35:27Speaker 4: get a chance to maybe hone in on a couple
- 35:28Speaker 4: of different things, and they do a really nice job
- 35:32Speaker 4: of disguising who's coming. And you might be like, wait
- 35:34Speaker 4: a minute, I see them inching up all the time.
- 35:36Speaker 4: If you go back and you watch the tape, like,
- 35:38Speaker 4: let's just say that we're the offense, we're looking at
- 35:40Speaker 4: the defense. Well, the lineback on the right side, he'll
- 35:43Speaker 4: keep inch and inchine, And oftentimes in college you're like, okay,
- 35:45Speaker 4: well this guy's coming, but he'll do it and then
- 35:48Speaker 4: he'll drop into coverage, and then all of a sudden,
- 35:50Speaker 4: here it comes from the left, and they do a
- 35:52Speaker 4: really nice job and then you know, both guys kind
- 35:54Speaker 4: of walk up and back up and walk up and
- 35:56Speaker 4: back up, and then here it comes from the place
- 35:58Speaker 4: that you're not expecting. You get that a lot in
- 36:00Speaker 4: the National Football League. You don't get that a ton
- 36:03Speaker 4: in college. A lot of times in college, it's like
- 36:05Speaker 4: if a corner's coming on a corner cat, he is
- 36:07Speaker 4: stiff as a board, he's press coverage, his head's not moving,
- 36:10Speaker 4: his arms aren't moving.
- 36:11Speaker 3: It's like, Okay, that guy's coming.
- 36:13Speaker 4: He's It's kind of like in college you can tell
- 36:15Speaker 4: when a running back's about to get the football too,
- 36:17Speaker 4: because it's the same situation. Elisha does a really nice
- 36:21Speaker 4: job of disguising where they're coming, and they also do
- 36:23Speaker 4: a nice job of disguising to simulate that they're going
- 36:27Speaker 4: to come like that.
- 36:28Speaker 3: That's very difficult to get at the college level.
- 36:30Speaker 4: So like, that's what I'm intrigued by that chess match
- 36:33Speaker 4: from Lane Kiffen Blake Baker and where Lane thinks the
- 36:36Speaker 4: pressure is going to come from Kim Blake Baker confuse
- 36:39Speaker 4: him and maybe trick them enough one time to turn
- 36:44Speaker 4: into an interception.
- 36:45Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 36:45Speaker 2: And one of the ways that they disguise really well
- 36:50Speaker 2: is something that the quarterback looks for is rotating safeties. Ye,
- 36:54Speaker 2: so you know, if the safety's coming down, he's either
- 36:56Speaker 2: coming down to fill a gap in coverage or he's
- 36:59Speaker 2: coming to place somebody that has left to go blitz
- 37:02Speaker 2: the quarterback. Our safeties have done a really nice job
- 37:05Speaker 2: of staying in like a two shell look and dropping
- 37:09Speaker 2: at the snap of the ball kind of like I said,
- 37:11Speaker 2: like when you try to CounterPunch, like we're dropping, but
- 37:14Speaker 2: it's like the old school, like how like Cam Chancellor
- 37:18Speaker 2: used to drop. He used to drop and it was
- 37:20Speaker 2: like a three high or one that shell, but he
- 37:22Speaker 2: was still like ten yards deep. Like, so they they're
- 37:24Speaker 2: not like dropping down into the box to where it's
- 37:27Speaker 2: like clear and obvious to the quarterback, but it is
- 37:30Speaker 2: a single high safety look. So sometimes even at the snap,
- 37:33Speaker 2: we're dropping so slowly and like for a purpose slowly
- 37:37Speaker 2: because they're trying to disguise it. So they're dropping so
- 37:39Speaker 2: slowly that it still looks like cover two or a
- 37:42Speaker 2: two shell, but in reality and the theory we're playing
- 37:46Speaker 2: at cover one and our safeties are good enough to
- 37:48Speaker 2: be able to react up. So like if normally a safety,
- 37:52Speaker 2: if he drops down, he's got either a hook or
- 37:55Speaker 2: he plays a curl to flat, well, he's We're able
- 37:58Speaker 2: to play the hook or the curl flat from a
- 38:00Speaker 2: depth because they're able to react up so well.
- 38:04Speaker 3: So it's just they are.
- 38:07Speaker 2: And you don't see disguised like that a lot in
- 38:09Speaker 2: the college in college because it takes eleven guys that
- 38:13Speaker 2: kind of understand the goal of everything and where the
- 38:16Speaker 2: weaknesses are and where you can disguise. Because some people
- 38:21Speaker 2: like the disguise way too much and it leaves them
- 38:23Speaker 2: very very vulnerable, right, so they can't get to where
- 38:27Speaker 2: they want to get to exactly.
- 38:28Speaker 4: So now fully expect ole miss to try to use
- 38:32Speaker 4: LSU's aggression against them. Like anytime that teams have had
- 38:37Speaker 4: any success against this LSU defense, that's what they've tried
- 38:40Speaker 4: to do.
- 38:41Speaker 3: They try to attack the aggression.
- 38:42Speaker 4: Now, it doesn't always turn into a big play for you,
- 38:46Speaker 4: but I'm saying, like, run a screen into the pressure,
- 38:49Speaker 4: run a running back screen or our tunnel screen, or
- 38:52Speaker 4: somebody try to use their aggression against them.
- 38:54Speaker 3: That's what I think Lane's going to try to do.
- 38:57Speaker 4: He's going to try to see the pressure, and it's
- 38:58Speaker 4: going to You'll see a ton of screens out, some
- 39:01Speaker 4: quick throw, some of the stuff that Matt was talking about,
- 39:03Speaker 4: which basically turns into a screen when you throw a
- 39:06Speaker 4: slant kind of behind the pressure.
- 39:07Speaker 2: And that's why I say, like having four weeks of
- 39:09Speaker 2: tape for an offense going against US is it's invaluable
- 39:14Speaker 2: because when you do that, it's a lot of check
- 39:17Speaker 2: with Me's right, a lot of offenses the college are
- 39:19Speaker 2: check with me. They get up there, they do the
- 39:21Speaker 2: fake collapse or whatever, and they look to the sideline
- 39:23Speaker 2: to see what the new call is right, or the
- 39:26Speaker 2: coach will now, I guess he can he can tell
- 39:28Speaker 2: the quarterback now then they'll change the play. Well, when
- 39:32Speaker 2: they do that, the defense can also change. So we've
- 39:34Speaker 2: seen the LSU defense. If the offense is trying to
- 39:36Speaker 2: change a play, the LSU defense change the play and
- 39:39Speaker 2: they go like hands coverage or they hand signal and
- 39:41Speaker 2: they change they change everything up. So now you've got
- 39:44Speaker 2: four weeks of tape, there can see kind of like
- 39:46Speaker 2: what hand signals mean. They can see what dummy calls
- 39:48Speaker 2: means Like it's just a little chess game right there.
- 39:51Speaker 2: So ken Lane given dial up the right play versus
- 39:55Speaker 2: and a lot of it's a lot of it's calculated risk.
- 39:58Speaker 3: A lot of it's like I.
- 39:59Speaker 2: Believe, based on this look on film that when they
- 40:02Speaker 2: do this, or when the safety lines up here, when
- 40:04Speaker 2: they're in an overfront instead of an underfront, when the
- 40:07Speaker 2: linebacker is shaded a little bit to the back, they're
- 40:10Speaker 2: looking for all those different things. I need to call
- 40:12Speaker 2: this tunnel screen. Yeah, I believe the strong doc's coming,
- 40:14Speaker 2: so I want to run a tunnel screen right into
- 40:17Speaker 2: that pressure.
- 40:18Speaker 3: Now.
- 40:18Speaker 2: He might call it two or three times during the
- 40:20Speaker 2: game and they don't do it, but they're looking for
- 40:22Speaker 2: just one time, one time to hit a big play.
- 40:25Speaker 3: And I've seen it watching the.
- 40:26Speaker 2: Film with Elishi's defense, we are so aggressive in an
- 40:29Speaker 2: awesome way, but it does leave yourself vulnerable like anything.
- 40:32Speaker 2: But it's calculated risk on Blake Baker's part. He's saying,
- 40:35Speaker 2: I'm creating so much chaos. I know I'm vulnerable here,
- 40:38Speaker 2: but I think we can get to that quarterback and
- 40:40Speaker 2: confuse him before he can dissect it, decipher it.
- 40:43Speaker 3: And make a decision, get the ball out of his
- 40:45Speaker 3: hand yep.
- 40:46Speaker 4: And just like Lane's got that four weeks of film,
- 40:48Speaker 4: Blake's got that four weeks of film on old mess
- 40:50Speaker 4: And I'm looking forward to the chess match between those
- 40:53Speaker 4: two are certainly going to be the storyline for me
- 40:55Speaker 4: throughout the game. All Right, we'll take a great more
- 40:57Speaker 4: OTV when we come back on the.
- 40:58Speaker 3: Other side the bench. All right.

- 43:32Speaker 4: your Goodwood dot com. All right, So the uh, the
- 43:39Speaker 4: individual matchup says we're gonna continue obviously throughout the week
- 43:42Speaker 4: previewing Ole Miss and LSU. That I'm looking forward to
- 43:46Speaker 4: is the Old Miss running backs versus the LSU linebackers. Now,
- 43:51Speaker 4: a big misconception of Lane Kiffin's offense is that he
- 43:54Speaker 4: only wants to like.
- 43:55Speaker 3: Throw the football, throw the football, throw the football. No, no, no,
- 43:58Speaker 3: they're just up tempo.
- 43:59Speaker 4: Don't use up tempo with wanting to just throw the
- 44:02Speaker 4: ball forty five times a game.
- 44:04Speaker 3: That is not who they are.
- 44:06Speaker 4: They are a team that wants to run the football.
- 44:10Speaker 4: He told me, let's see, it was that mediaday of springing.
- 44:15Speaker 4: It doesn't really matter. So we're having a conversation and
- 44:19Speaker 4: he talked about their running game. He said, we lost
- 44:21Speaker 4: two games, one to Kentucky one to LSU because we
- 44:25Speaker 4: couldn't close out the game in four minutes. We gave
- 44:28Speaker 4: a good offensive ball back against LSU. They made us pay.
- 44:33Speaker 4: They are at their best when they can run the football,
- 44:35Speaker 4: and they've done so so far.
- 44:37Speaker 3: This year.
- 44:37Speaker 4: They've got a couple of nice running backs. Their quarterback
- 44:41Speaker 4: has been really good in the run game as well,
- 44:43Speaker 4: and that's who they are. They ran the ball forty
- 44:45Speaker 4: two times against Tulane. They threw at twenty seven. So
- 44:48Speaker 4: it is going to be the matchup. It's those running backs,
- 44:51Speaker 4: the running quarterback, you know, ability versus LSU's linebackers.
- 44:55Speaker 3: And look, if you're LSU, you're.
- 44:57Speaker 4: Like, I'll take that. I'll take that matchup. It's your
- 44:59Speaker 4: best group. You've got multiple players. You got three really
- 45:03Speaker 4: good ones and some young guys that have gotten some
- 45:05Speaker 4: action over the last week.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Yeah, the yeah, And I know Lane Kiffin's big thing
- 45:11Speaker 2: always has been running. Now he looks like this big,
- 45:13Speaker 2: aired out guy I want to and that's the misconception
- 45:15Speaker 2: part you're talking about. But he knows just as well
- 45:18Speaker 2: as most good offensive coordinator that you cannot rely, you
- 45:21Speaker 2: cannot throw it sixty times a game and expect to
- 45:24Speaker 2: consistently win. Being able to run the football opens up
- 45:29Speaker 2: your past game tremendously. Like some most good quarterbacks that
- 45:33Speaker 2: throw for a lot of yards have a very good,
- 45:36Speaker 2: or at least a very manageable, a scary running game.
- 45:41Speaker 2: It doesn't have to be the best in the world
- 45:42Speaker 2: or best in the conference, but they have something that
- 45:44Speaker 2: can they can consistently rely on keeping them in good
- 45:47Speaker 2: down and distances.
- 45:47Speaker 4: So yeah, something we'll talk about throughout the week is
- 45:50Speaker 4: that rushing attag versus your strength, your linebacking corp.
- 45:54Speaker 3: We'll talk about it here on OTV.
- 45:56Speaker 1: Off the bench.
- 45:58Speaker 3: All right, your season at yours shot.
