- 0:00Hey guys, in this video I'm going to go through some.
- 0:01Essential autism gifts that I think you are going to
- 0:04definitely need. Guys, what's going on?
- 0:05Welcome back to the aspy world. My name is Dan and I have autism
- 0:08and ADHD. I make weekly videos all about
- 0:10this stuff. So if you want to come and be on

- 0:16you can get notified by clicking the notification bell when I
- 0:19upload a video. So gifts are a huge thing when
- 0:22it comes to like people wanting to buy gifts for people on the
- 0:25office spectrum. Want to buy gifts for people who
- 0:27may have ADHD is all thing right?
- 0:29And so I put together a lovely list of seven items which I
- 0:32think are just perfect for like you know, gift ideas that going
- 0:36to get you thinking, stimulating.
- 0:38If anything I recommend that I can find a specific item for.
- 0:41I will have linked it down below so make sure to check the
- 0:43description of this video. But also if you want my free
- 0:46Autism Life Hacks PDF book completely free for sure to go
- 0:49to autismhacks.net or click the link down below the links there
- 0:53as well. So guys, in terms of the first
- 0:55thing I want to talk about is century toys and tools.
- 0:57So Century Toys and tools are kind of like gadgets and gizmos
- 1:00that are like fidget spinners, you know, fidget boards,
- 1:03anything fidget related. These things are like century
- 1:05seeking types of of ideas or gifts.
- 1:09Now this also comes under the umbrella of like tube bubble
- 1:12lights and kind of like strip lights and lights like this one
- 1:15in the background. Anything that's century seeking
- 1:18it even could be slime or putty. Those type of toys, textures and
- 1:22colours and movement based which are really really helpful for
- 1:25sensory seeking dopamine hungry autistic individuals.
- 1:28So if you're thinking about a gift, anything central related
- 1:31is awesome. Now here in the UK there is a
- 1:33toy manufacturer called Smith's or a toy warehouse called
- 1:36Smith's or Smite. Now they actually have a home
- 1:38fidget toy section. So if you are in the UK or
- 1:41Ireland you can go to Smite's or Smith's toys and actually look
- 1:45in there. Fidget toy section.
- 1:46Super awesome. Recommend it and then I'll leave
- 1:48a link down below to my best fidget kind of toys.
- 1:52Ones I think are the best. There's quite a few independent
- 1:54ones on the Internet. I think they're amazing.
- 1:56So yeah, just check out the links #2.
- 1:57Is visual. AIDS.
- 1:58Now, visual aids are for communicative issues, right?
- 2:02So people on the office spectrum need help with everything from
- 2:06from daily life organization to going to bed to getting dressed
- 2:08and all those things I would highly recommend using as a gift
- 2:13using things like visual aids. Now this could be things like
- 2:15visual timers, communication tools, it could even be a a
- 2:18poster, like a schedule chat or a picture grid.
- 2:21And you can get a lot of these off Etsy as well, which is
- 2:23pretty amazing. Or you can go on like Pinterest
- 2:25that find go on download it and print it off yourself, laminate
- 2:28it and you can make the whole gift yourself.
- 2:30I'm going to leave a link to Etsy for some of the stores I
- 2:32think are pretty cool. But this is the kind of gift
- 2:35which is not only awesome, but it's like super practical.
- 2:38Like it's really fun because you know that the person taking
- 2:40interest you know in you, if you're a gift receiver and some
- 2:43give you a gift is going to help you in ways that you didn't
- 2:45expect, then that's cool. But thinking about you in all
- 2:48the right ways. OK.
- 2:49So if we get any further, try to say thank you to.
- 2:51Today's video sponsor, Brilliant.
- 2:54Now Brilliant is a non prescription homeopathic
- 2:56medication I use specifically for ADHD, but you can use it
- 3:00mainly for things like anxiety and stress and reduced feelings
- 3:03of restlessness, irritability and impulsivity, which is also a
- 3:07really good bonus. Now the cool thing is that this
- 3:09actually helps increase focus and concentration, which I think
- 3:11is awesome and it's completely like there's no nasties in it.
- 3:14This is not addictive, super supernatural, right?
- 3:16So you can get your hands on this from the link in the
- 3:19description down below and I will give you a discount which
- 3:23you can use the code Ask B-15 to get 15% off your first purchase.
- 3:27If you are thinking about taking brilliant, consult with your
- 3:29doctor first just to make sure that everything is kosher.
- 3:31Okay guys, let's get on with the video Okay so #4 is adaptive
- 3:36clothing. Now what I mean by this,
- 3:37Autistic individuals have sensory processing disorder,
- 3:40typically Comorbidly Co occurring with the diagnosis of
- 3:43autism, which means not all clothing is made equally.
- 3:46So they'll be like seams and and and tags and stuff that's really
- 3:49going to annoy autistic people. You can get sensory adaptive
- 3:51clothing that are kind of like seamless socks.
- 3:54You can get, you know, no tag T-shirts, really comfy trousers.
- 3:59There's a bunch of different ones and I actually have worked
- 4:02with a bunch of different brands.
- 4:03What I'm going to do is link down the top of three that I've
- 4:05worked with sensory socks. There's one.
- 4:07A new one that just come out. That I did on my Instagram, so
- 4:10if you haven't already followed. Me on.
- 4:11Instagram Highly recommend checking me out on Instagram
- 4:14right now I upload videos every single day on Instagram and
- 4:16Instagram Stories. And there's a couple of as I've
- 4:18worked with in the past, so definitely check out Adaptive
- 4:21clothing. Really good, Super helpful.
- 4:23I'm very practical again. OK, so #5 is therapy or
- 4:26education apps. You know, if I didn't have an
- 4:28iPad or iPhone, my life would be a whole lot different.
- 4:31Actually it would be much more complex and I would hardly get
- 4:34anything done. But with the use of certain
- 4:35apps, I'm able to expand my relationship with schedules
- 4:40because the apps will remind me that apps will keep me on track
- 4:42of how much medication I've taken, how much water I've been
- 4:45taken, You know, all of these things.
- 4:46There's a bunch of different apps out there, some amazing
- 4:48words and not only that, there's communication apps like Pro Alto
- 4:51to Go which is an amazing app that you can use.
- 4:55It puts the other visual stories of little kind of like graphics
- 4:58and then you press them and it speaks for you.
- 5:00So may say somebody is a non speaking autistic person, then
- 5:03you could use this gift to really just change their whole
- 5:06life. So I'm going to leave a link to
- 5:08some of the apps and recommendations that I have
- 5:10double as well. So you can definitely check
- 5:11those out. But it's a great gift idea and
- 5:13you can always gift apps. So if you're an iPhone user or
- 5:16an Android user, you can go to the store, the App Store, go in
- 5:19it and say gift this. As long as you got the person's
- 5:21e-mail address that you're going to send it to, you can gift them
- 5:23the app and then you pay for it and they receive it.
- 5:25It's a great digital awesome gift, especially for your long
- 5:27distance. Number six is art and creativity
- 5:31kit. Now artistic individuals love
- 5:33different types of hands on play.
- 5:35Kinesthetic learning which is like using paint to make like,
- 5:38you know hand paint drawings or or pencils and colouring things
- 5:42and even colouring is therapeutic in itself.
- 5:44So always think about creativity and art kits.
- 5:46These things are going to be awesome for artistic
- 5:48individuals, but make sure the person you're getting these for
- 5:51is OK with paint, or is OK with it and their hand's dirty or is
- 5:53OK with felt tip pens. Or you've got to make sure that
- 5:57the needs of the person is met also when you're doing gifts.
- 5:59But this is just an idea. I'll link down below.
- 6:01Some of the ones I think are very creative.
- 6:03There's an amazing company called Lucky Kid from the United
- 6:06States and they do a lot of this kind of creativity type of stuff
- 6:08but for autistic individuals. So I'll link you to those as
- 6:11well. And #7 is a no brainer.
- 6:13Everybody in the autism spectrum will have a topic of special
- 6:16interest, right? So that they're obsessed with
- 6:18that they just want to talk about all the time.
- 6:20Yeah, I know, mums and dads, watch this video.
- 6:22You get what I'm saying, right? But in this specifically, if you
- 6:25know what your kid is into, or you know what your loved one or
- 6:28your friend or cousin or whatever, whoever is on the
- 6:29spectrum you're buying for, if you know that they're really
- 6:32into cars, they're really into, like, I don't know, snakes or
- 6:34something like animals or whatever, get them something to
- 6:37do with a specific special interest.
- 6:39It will always pay off in dividends.
- 6:40It's something that will treasure forever.
- 6:42And you might think, oh you know, they may have this already
- 6:44and blah blah blah dude, I can never have more Fight Club
- 6:47stuff. Like I have Fight Club stuff
- 6:48like all over my office right now.
- 6:49I'm obsessed with Fight Club and if anybody want me duplicates
- 6:52I'd be like, well, thank goodness I've got a duplicate
- 6:53because now if one breaks, I got a backup.
- 6:56Guys smash that like button if this is helpful and share this
- 6:59video if you think it's going to change somebody's life and how
- 7:00would give me ideas. Love you always.
- 7:02Peace out. See you in the next one.
