- 0:47Speaker 1: Welcome to today's edition of Reflection on the Word with
- 0:50Speaker 1: Richard K. I'm Chuck Christie, and today we are asking
- 0:54Speaker 1: you to spend a few moments of your time with
- 0:56Speaker 1: us each day, as Richard shares from God's work with notes, quotes,
- 0:59Speaker 1: and stores, along with some of his own personal experiences,
- 1:02Speaker 1: to confirm for you God's great love for us, that
- 1:05Speaker 1: his compassion for us never fails, and that he has
- 1:08Speaker 1: a great faithfulness toward us in every regard. In Lamentations,
- 1:12Speaker 1: Chapter three, verses twenty two and twenty three, we read,
- 1:16Speaker 1: because of the Lord's great love, we are not consumed,
- 1:20Speaker 1: for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Great is your faithfulness. Now, if you miss a portion
- 1:27Speaker 1: of today's broadcast or would like to recommend it to
- 1:29Speaker 1: a friend, you can hear this program anytime online at
- 1:33Speaker 1: Talknetwork Radio dot com. Well, now, here's Richard with today's reflection.
- 1:39Speaker 2: Whatever's true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever's pure,
- 1:45Speaker 2: whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, Think about such things
- 1:52Speaker 2: Philippians or verse eight. Today's reflection comes from a writing
- 2:01Speaker 2: in our daily Bread called accidental Wisdom. A few years ago,
- 2:07Speaker 2: a woman shared with me a story about finding her
- 2:11Speaker 2: preteen son watching news coverage of a violent event. Instinctively,
- 2:19Speaker 2: she reached for the remote and changed the channel. You
- 2:23Speaker 2: don't need to be watching that stuff, she told him,
- 2:26Speaker 2: rather abruptly. An argument followed, and eventually she shared that
- 2:32Speaker 2: he needed to fill his mind with what is right,
- 2:36Speaker 2: whatever is pure, whatever is lovely. After dinner, she and
- 2:43Speaker 2: her husband were watching the news when suddenly their five
- 2:47Speaker 2: year old daughter burst in and turned off the television.
- 2:52Speaker 2: You don't need to be watching that stuff, she declared
- 2:55Speaker 2: in her best mom voice. Now think about those Bible things.
- 3:02Speaker 2: As adults, we can better absorb and process the news
- 3:08Speaker 2: than our children. Still, the couple's daughter was both amusing
- 3:13Speaker 2: and wise when she echoed her mother's earlier instructions. Even
- 3:20Speaker 2: well adjusted adults can be affected by a steady diet
- 3:25Speaker 2: of the darker side of light. Meditating on the kind
- 3:29Speaker 2: of things Paul list in Philippians four eight is a
- 3:35Speaker 2: powerful antidote to the gloom that sometimes settles on us
- 3:40Speaker 2: as we see the condition of our world.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Richard will be right back in a moment to wrap up.
- 3:46Speaker 1: But if you've just joined us, you've been listening to
- 3:48Speaker 1: reflections on the word with Richard k. You can hear
- 3:51Speaker 1: this message innis entirety again online as well as Richard's
- 3:55Speaker 1: entire archive at Talknetwork Radio dot com. To acknowledge our
- 4:00Speaker 1: theme song, how Great Is Thy Faithfulness from the America's
- 4:04Speaker 1: twenty five Favorite Hymns album and Let's otherwise express. Scriptures
- 4:09Speaker 1: are read from the Homan Christian Standard Bible, which is
- 4:12Speaker 1: published by Homan Bible Publishers in Nashville, Tennessee. Additional resources
- 4:17Speaker 1: used for Reflections on the Word with Richard KA include
- 4:21Speaker 1: Great Is Thy Faithfulness by Our Daily Bread and printed
- 4:24Speaker 1: by Discovery House Publishers. Again here is Richard to wrap
- 4:28Speaker 1: up today's message.
- 4:30Speaker 2: Making careful decisions about what bills our minds is an
- 4:35Speaker 2: excellent way to honor God and guard our hearts as well. Father,
- 4:43Speaker 2: open our eyes today to what's beautiful, teach us to
- 4:49Speaker 2: meditate on you. What we let into our minds shapes
- 4:55Speaker 2: the state of our souls. Written by Randy Kilgore in
- 5:02Speaker 2: Our Daily Bread, and that is today's reflection on the Word.
- 5:09Speaker 1: Thank you, Richard. Join us again tomorrow when we continue
- 5:12Speaker 1: with the next edition of Reflections on the Word with
- 5:15Speaker 1: Richard K. Or Richard and the entire team This is
