- 0:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, you ultimately have to understand why you keep repacking the same thing in order to finally get a chance to make any real choices.
- 0:07[SPEAKER_00]: So, I love this because, like, I feel like some people think that they're self-sabotaging or they're in the same spiral.
- 0:13[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, what you kept packing the same stuff, expecting a new result.
- 0:17[SPEAKER_01]: You know, you're carrying around the old shit.
- 0:19[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but in you just keep repacking the old shit, and that's why you don't get anything new.
- 0:24[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome to the be it till you see it podcast where we talk about taking messy action, knowing that perfect is boring.
- 0:32[SPEAKER_00]: I'm also Logan, prize instructor, and fitness business coach.
- 0:35[SPEAKER_00]: I've trained thousands of people around the world, and the number one thing I see stopping people from achieving anything is self-doubt.
- 0:44[SPEAKER_00]: My friends, action brings clarity.
- 0:47[SPEAKER_00]: and it's the antidote to fear.
- 0:50[SPEAKER_00]: Each week my guess will bring bold, executable, intrinsic, and targeted steps that you can use to put yourself first and be it until you see it.
- 1:00[SPEAKER_00]: It's a practice, not a perfect, let's get started.
- 1:07[SPEAKER_00]: Welcome back to the video till you see it in every recap where my co-host and life Brad and I are going to dig into the unraveling convoy I had with Sherry Tigman in our last episode.
- 1:15[SPEAKER_00]: If you're having yet listen to interview, you can pause this one and then listen to that one or you can listen this one here we have to say we've got some fun stuff to talk about and then go listen that one but you cannot miss it.
- 1:24[SPEAKER_01]: It's an epic episode.
- 1:26[SPEAKER_00]: I should be friends with her.
- 1:27[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, she's badass.
- 1:28[SPEAKER_00]: I do.
- 1:29[SPEAKER_00]: We should tell her we're in London.
- 1:31[SPEAKER_00]: I don't like, I really don't know how we're going to fit in another meal, but like, she can meet me for, I don't know, she's great.
- 1:38[SPEAKER_01]: Anyways, she might be in New York.
- 1:40[SPEAKER_01]: She lives between the two.
- 1:41[SPEAKER_00]: She does live between the two.
- 1:42[SPEAKER_00]: And you know what, then if she does, and at least we reached out.
- 1:45[SPEAKER_01]: But you know, at least we reached out.
- 1:47[SPEAKER_00]: This time that you have ADHD is that you want to hang out with someone and then you hope that they're not available.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 1:53[SPEAKER_00]: Today, while you guys are listening to this is April 30th, 2026, and today we're bringing awareness to two things.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: Two things.
- 2:00[SPEAKER_00]: So, well, purgist night.
- 2:02[SPEAKER_01]: Well, purgist night.
- 2:03[SPEAKER_00]: The mass of Saint, while purga, or while purgist night, is observed on April 30th and parts of Northern and Eastern Europe.
- 2:09[SPEAKER_00]: From Sweden to the Czech Republic, it is known as while purgist, in German speaking nations, Valborg, in Sweden, and Caroden,
- 2:19[SPEAKER_01]: Good.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: Good job.
- 2:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm really impressed.
- 2:21[SPEAKER_00]: There's a J in and connects it to each other.
- 2:23[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't,
- 2:38[SPEAKER_01]: Vaughnburg.
- 2:39[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 2:40[SPEAKER_00]: Vaughnburg.
- 2:41[SPEAKER_00]: While per just night is also known as the other Halloween.
- 2:44[SPEAKER_00]: For example, on April 30th, a traditional while per just night ritual involves the burning of an effigy of a witch on a campfire.
- 2:52[SPEAKER_00]: In Sweden, this is a bonfire night once thought to ward off evil spirits, but it's now fun way to get rid of excess gardening trash.
- 2:58[SPEAKER_00]: I'm here for the gardening trash.
- 3:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not here for burning fucking witches.
- 3:02[SPEAKER_00]: So Brad, you sold me this wrong, because I didn't realize we're burning a witch.
- 3:07[SPEAKER_00]: It's set an F of G of a wish, that's burying a wish.
- 3:12[SPEAKER_00]: This is, we are a set is we're rejecting.
- 3:15[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, it's the sculpture or model of a person.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 3:17[SPEAKER_01]: Well, we're getting rid of those witches.
- 3:19[SPEAKER_00]: No, no, the witches are the healers, Brad, look it up.
- 3:22[SPEAKER_00]: So the witches, actually, were the women healers, had all the information and they kept it and they pass it down to the other women about all these different ways to heal from different illnesses and aches and pains and also how to do periods and they had these wonderful, wonderful informations and when they
- 3:39[SPEAKER_00]: made those healers, which is those women became people that no one could talk to, they could be came untouchables.
- 3:45[SPEAKER_00]: And so after three generations, you now no longer have history.
- 3:49[SPEAKER_00]: And that is how they control you ladies.
- 3:51[SPEAKER_00]: That's how they do it.
- 3:52[SPEAKER_00]: So anyways, now that I've fixed that day, why don't you go on with the holiday that sounds way better?
- 3:59[SPEAKER_01]: Oh yeah, we're not for Burning Witches.
- 4:01[SPEAKER_01]: International Jazz Day, this is Brad's excitement here.
- 4:04[SPEAKER_01]: Join with people around the world as this day promotes jazz's roots and our intercultural influence every year on April 30th.
- 4:13[SPEAKER_01]: All that jazz.
- 4:14[SPEAKER_01]: Many considered America's classical music.
- 4:16[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, maybe.
- 4:17[SPEAKER_01]: After all, jazz began in New Orleans over 100 years ago.
- 4:20[SPEAKER_01]: Legendary jazz pianists and composer, Herbert Hancock, along with the UN,
- 4:29[SPEAKER_01]: We don't for a musical look, distinctly American art form and dumbass out on a list of four cool jazz sub-genres.
- 4:35[SPEAKER_00]: Well, Brad, what are those four sub-genres?
- 4:37[SPEAKER_01]: I have no idea, they rest of that whole book.
- 4:41[SPEAKER_01]: But what I can tell you is that this is something I love, a passion about, I grew up listening on the way home from soccer practice with my dad.
- 4:50[SPEAKER_01]: We would listen to 90.1.
- 4:52[SPEAKER_01]: And it was Temple's jazz.
- 4:54[SPEAKER_01]: Temple filled out via jazz stations.
- 4:56[SPEAKER_01]: So it really left an impact on me as a youngster.
- 4:58[SPEAKER_01]: I got really into the music and my dad wasn't really playing like performing jazz, but he does play the trombone and was playing the trombone at the church.
- 5:07[SPEAKER_01]: Never playing jazz.
- 5:08[SPEAKER_01]: He was always playing, you know, hymns and choirs, stuff, whatever.
- 5:10[SPEAKER_01]: But, you know, I got really into that.
- 5:12[SPEAKER_01]: And that was an inspiration as a kid to play the trombone myself.
- 5:16[SPEAKER_01]: And then all through high school, I got really into jazz and then I went to college for it and I studied the trombone playing jazz there.
- 5:22[SPEAKER_01]: And when I moved out to LA, I set all that down and I started playing rock and roll with my bass guitar and singing and all that stuff and it was fun.
- 5:29[SPEAKER_01]: But coming to Vegas, just down the street from where we live, is it lovely.
- 5:33[SPEAKER_00]: Less than a mile.
- 5:34[SPEAKER_00]: It's like a half mile.
- 5:36[SPEAKER_00]: Maybe three quarters.
- 5:37[SPEAKER_01]: It is a bar that hosts a live jazz night, every Monday night, and it's fantastic.
- 5:43[SPEAKER_01]: Like the musicians are either grads or they're going through UNLVs, jazz programs.
- 5:49[SPEAKER_01]: Some of them are doing their masters in music.
- 5:51[SPEAKER_01]: And these guys get together and they jam every Friday, every Monday, sorry, every Monday, and I have been very intentional about making sure I'm there.
- 6:00[SPEAKER_01]: I just love listening, and I literally am like the super dork.
- 6:04[SPEAKER_01]: People think I'm the manager or the owner of the bar.
- 6:06[SPEAKER_00]: If he has this computer out you guys because I take my laptop and I work in the back corner like 10 till 2 10 p.m. till 2 a.m. Yeah, one.
- 6:14[SPEAKER_01]: I'm leaving around 1115.
- 6:15[SPEAKER_01]: But it's three hours of live jazz.
- 6:17[SPEAKER_01]: They do three sets and the third set is my favorite because talking about shop sub genres they always start with like a little bit like.
- 6:24[SPEAKER_01]: you know, lower, more palatable as it were.
- 6:27[SPEAKER_01]: And by the end of the night, they're playing like huge like intense fusion crazy like like driving music and I eat that up.
- 6:37[SPEAKER_01]: I love that.
- 6:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's it is also my ADHD brain.
- 6:40[SPEAKER_00]: Are we going to tell them where to go for this?
- 6:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, it's not the hard hat.
- 6:44[SPEAKER_01]: The hard hat bar.
- 6:45[SPEAKER_00]: Are you trying to give it to yours though?
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah.
- 6:47[SPEAKER_00]: That's not how the go.
- 6:48[SPEAKER_00]: I have my spot on the corner.
- 6:49[SPEAKER_00]: So also, if you're in Vegas on a Monday night, there's not a lot to do.
- 6:52[SPEAKER_00]: This is the thing you can do.
- 6:54[SPEAKER_00]: And it's one of the oldest parts.
- 6:55[SPEAKER_00]: It's not the oldest part.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: But people think it is.
- 6:56[SPEAKER_00]: It's one of the oldest parts.
- 6:58[SPEAKER_01]: It was in the, it's starting in the 60s.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_01]: And it's 60s.
- 7:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, of course.
- 7:01[SPEAKER_00]: Two lost, they get city guests.
- 7:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's the third oldest part.
- 7:04[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but we love it.
- 7:05[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 7:06[SPEAKER_01]: Leslie's been there once, I think.
- 7:07[SPEAKER_00]: Zero time.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: Zero time.
- 7:08[SPEAKER_00]: You've never taken me.
- 7:09[SPEAKER_00]: No, that's why it's not.
- 7:10[SPEAKER_01]: I haven't taken you.
- 7:12[SPEAKER_01]: You, there's never a chance for your a wait.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 7:14[SPEAKER_00]: Zero.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Zero chances.
- 7:15[SPEAKER_00]: Zero chances.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: Zero chances.
- 7:16[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, I'm on Monday night.
- 7:18[SPEAKER_00]: But I, here's the thing, guys.
- 7:19[SPEAKER_00]: I got to go because.
- 7:21[SPEAKER_00]: Gotta go rad.
- 7:22[SPEAKER_00]: Doesn't really under like he didn't really understand what like signals.
- 7:25[SPEAKER_00]: He was putting out one Monday night.
- 7:26[SPEAKER_00]: He, these people were at his table where he has this computer.
- 7:28[SPEAKER_00]: So he can watch and be on this computer.
- 7:31[SPEAKER_00]: So just kept looking at the people at this table.
- 7:33[SPEAKER_00]: Over and over and over again.
- 7:35[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I kept glancing me and like how many drinks these people going to have?
- 7:37[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, like dinner they can eat during my corner.
- 7:40[SPEAKER_01]: I like little spot.
- 7:41[SPEAKER_00]: And then he like had a finally sit down with his back to them.
- 7:44[SPEAKER_00]: So then he kept turning around and looking at them.
- 7:46[SPEAKER_00]: And so they bought him a drink thinking he was hitting on them.
- 7:51[SPEAKER_01]: It's true.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: Definitely.
- 7:52[SPEAKER_01]: I apparently got caught looking and I realized, oh, yeah, okay.
- 7:57[SPEAKER_01]: That happened.
- 7:58[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, I'm just trying to get a table.
- 8:00[SPEAKER_00]: Although I, this would happen to anybody like us because it's like, you're my table.
- 8:03[SPEAKER_00]: That's my spot.
- 8:04[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, I'll get to the heart hat one of these days.
- 8:06[SPEAKER_00]: One of these Tuesdays, I won't have to get up at five in the morning.
- 8:08[SPEAKER_00]: So I'll check it out.
- 8:09[SPEAKER_00]: But go listen to some jazz, go just play on your Spotify today because it's International Jazz Day.
- 8:15[SPEAKER_01]: If you want some recommendations, I'm a big fan of a US-based group.
- 8:20[SPEAKER_01]: They're from DC area.
- 8:21[SPEAKER_01]: They're named Snarky Puppy.
- 8:23[SPEAKER_01]: And it's a really cool group because they are like a mix of different musicians that will come in and leave.
- 8:29[SPEAKER_01]: So sometimes the band might be four people.
- 8:32[SPEAKER_01]: Sometimes it might be 20 people.
- 8:33[SPEAKER_01]: right and they and they just wherever they do concerts they pull in all these locals and they and they have like the the the the the band director effectively is a brilliant composer and he he composed with other people but I've really enjoyed listening to uh snarky poppy so if you're wondering you know what are we talking about here check them out
- 8:52[SPEAKER_00]: people have an idea of jazz, but like, you know, like this is going to hell.
- 8:57[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, especially hell, if you have not heard some jazz.
- 9:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, but I'm not listening to like Kenny G. Elevator jazz, like that's not why you know.
- 9:03[SPEAKER_01]: I want something that has definitely got more, you know, juice.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:08[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 9:09[SPEAKER_00]: Well, thanks, babe.
- 9:10[SPEAKER_00]: Thanks for, I love your holiday, but I'm going to say, I'm going to show one more.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 9:14[SPEAKER_01]: So Stan Kenton's Cuban Fire Suite is a journey and it's worth just sitting down with a glass of wine and listening to it from start to finish.
- 9:23[SPEAKER_01]: I love it, have so much fun, enjoy that.
- 9:24[SPEAKER_01]: All right, here's what's coming up.
- 9:26[SPEAKER_01]: So Leslie is super busy tomorrow, starting all day because we have a whole bunch of people coming to the house that's actually been coming through all day today, doing private sessions with Leslie and tomorrow.
- 9:37[SPEAKER_00]: She's kicking off the Cadillac weekend.
- 9:39[SPEAKER_01]: So third weekend, a five weekend.
- 9:44[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_00]: And you're wanting to know more information about 2027's elevate.
- 9:48[SPEAKER_00]: There are a few spots left.
- 9:50[SPEAKER_00]: We actually on the date recording this accepted two more people.
- 9:52[SPEAKER_00]: So from between, they may have already put their deposit in, which means we really like have three spots left.
- 9:58[SPEAKER_00]: But don't be like, I'm never going to get it.
- 9:59[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you want it, but right, like we can talk about it.
- 10:01[SPEAKER_00]: The application is really easy.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_00]: It's mostly so I can make sure it's right program for you.
- 10:05[SPEAKER_00]: I don't, I don't want to sell you something that's not what you're looking for.
- 10:08[SPEAKER_00]: So let's look at.co slash elevate.
- 10:10[SPEAKER_00]: A7th through the 10th will be in faint.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_00]: We'll Scottsdale actually, Brad.
- 10:15[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 10:16[SPEAKER_00]: We're Scottsdale at POT.
- 10:17[SPEAKER_00]: So we hope to see you there.
- 10:19[SPEAKER_00]: We'll have a booth.
- 10:20[SPEAKER_00]: I'm not teaching at it, but we'll have a booth.
- 10:22[SPEAKER_00]: So come by say hi.
- 10:23[SPEAKER_00]: I think we're going to have the dog.
- 10:24[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, we're going to bring by our own.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_00]: We're driving in and we're taking the dog.
- 10:27[SPEAKER_00]: We're driving with.
- 10:28[SPEAKER_00]: It's a Campton.
- 10:29[SPEAKER_01]: So we call the net and they were like, oh, yeah.
- 10:31[SPEAKER_01]: We're totally dog friendly.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: They're totally.
- 10:33[SPEAKER_01]: Heck yeah, let's do it.
- 10:34[SPEAKER_00]: So we're bringing our dog because it would be so sad.
- 10:36[SPEAKER_00]: It will have been home a month and we have to leave them again.
- 10:38[SPEAKER_00]: Spring training is right after we get back.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_00]: It is May 12th of the 17th.
- 10:42[SPEAKER_00]: It's about getting upside down.
- 10:43[SPEAKER_00]: You know, overhead.
- 10:44[SPEAKER_00]: It's really like all the OPC teachers and I are using the workouts on the OPC spring training.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_00]: We're using the workouts on the mat, reformer, tower, and when it's here to help you understand the connection you need to actually do upside down overhead exercises with control and strength.
- 11:01[SPEAKER_00]: So you don't have fear about hurting your neck or or also you think like I can't do these exercises.
- 11:06[SPEAKER_00]: I have belly abundance or chest abundance or whatever.
- 11:08[SPEAKER_00]: Now, there are people that they're not.
- 11:10[SPEAKER_00]: ideally for but well you'll learn the replacement exercises for yourself so that you can be in any of these classes because i do not believe to be an advanced practitioner you'll do upside down stuff to be an advanced polarized practitioner you have to have connections so you could be doing non upside down stuff and be an advanced practitioner or some extent.
- 11:27[SPEAKER_00]: I'm excited for you for that.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_00]: So OPC.me such events.
- 11:31[SPEAKER_00]: And then some are tour is literally going to be announced at any moment.
- 11:34[SPEAKER_00]: And if it hasn't already.
- 11:35[SPEAKER_00]: So OPC.me such tour.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, thank you.
- 11:37[SPEAKER_01]: It's not coming at the end of May or beginning of June because it'll basically be after.
- 11:41[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, yeah, yeah, but right after.
- 11:44[SPEAKER_00]: So we are going to do we are doing and then we're doing a route we've never done before.
- 11:48[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, I know, I'm excited.
- 11:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're gonna be going straight across the middle of the country all the way out to Knoxville and then we're gonna loop back around and hit North Texas on the way back.
- 11:59[SPEAKER_01]: And then I think we're gonna do two sun because we haven't been there in a really long time.
- 12:02[SPEAKER_01]: So, yeah, so, yeah.
- 12:03[SPEAKER_00]: So, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 12:04[SPEAKER_00]: Give it another city of Arizona some love.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_01]: But go to OPC-D slash tour.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_00]: Oh my god, we've already seen the merch.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's really fun.
- 12:11[SPEAKER_00]: You guys even know every year, every tour, we're like, that's so great.
- 12:14[SPEAKER_00]: How could it get better?
- 12:15[SPEAKER_00]: It gets better.
- 12:16[SPEAKER_00]: It gets better.
- 12:23[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, we have to get into Sherry because she's so great, but before we do that, we have a question.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_01]: We sure do.
- 12:29[SPEAKER_01]: Laura T. 92, 66 from YouTube asks, hey, would you ever consider a springboard for home use over the one-to-chair or spine character?
- 12:39[SPEAKER_01]: I am gonna jump in right now.
- 12:41[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, tell me, what do you think means?
- 12:42[SPEAKER_01]: They do completely different things.
- 12:43[SPEAKER_00]: Great job, Brad.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_00]: Thank you.
- 12:45[SPEAKER_01]: Thank you.
- 12:46[SPEAKER_00]: Like yeah, I don't have both and also like a springboard it just hangs on the wall takes up almost no space So you could still have room for a little bit.
- 12:55[SPEAKER_01]: You clearly need a reformer to do the springboards.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_00]: So you just need a wall
- 12:59[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, you don't even need a springboard is like a hat.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_01]: I was thinking the jump board.
- 13:02[SPEAKER_00]: You are thinking and jump board.
- 13:04[SPEAKER_00]: But also still different.
- 13:05[SPEAKER_01]: They still do different.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 13:06[SPEAKER_00]: So the springboard is like what you see on the walls with it.
- 13:09[SPEAKER_00]: It's like my wall unit, but like half of a wall unit.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 13:12[SPEAKER_00]: It doesn't even stick out from the wall.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 13:14[SPEAKER_00]: It's just got a couple hooks in it because I don't know why you're considering these three.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 13:18[SPEAKER_00]: Like it sounds like space might be a different like what we're talking about.
- 13:22[SPEAKER_01]: But maybe also cost.
- 13:23[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, or it can be cost.
- 13:24[SPEAKER_00]: Springports can be expensive, you guys live.
- 13:27[SPEAKER_00]: They are almost the same price as my tower, my tower because I bought the high map with it.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_00]: It's like $2,200 full price, so like a springboard, it's like $1,700.
- 13:34[SPEAKER_00]: I'm, you have to look at these things, and also who knows because of all the shit's going on.
- 13:38[SPEAKER_00]: So, use my discount, we'll put our, we'll put our bounce body, control the discount in here, but here's the thing.
- 13:45[SPEAKER_00]: It depends on what you need.
- 13:46[SPEAKER_00]: So, if you are someone who has a bit more asymmetries and you're more building your connections up, then a springboard or I prefer my Control G wall tower to be honest, because it has the push through bar, and it's a way from the wall, so it actually provides you the opportunity to do monkey,
- 14:08[SPEAKER_00]: And also, there's some things you can hang off the polls, but there's just stuff you can do that you can't do with the springboard.
- 14:12[SPEAKER_00]: So I prefer that if you're using that, that's can be a great way to take your map practice to the next level reform, perhaps the next level and develop the connection, you need to advance your practice when you look at equipment when the space, the surface space gets smaller.
- 14:26[SPEAKER_00]: the more advanced it gets.
- 14:28[SPEAKER_00]: So the one to share, if you look at the service base of a one to chair, compared to a mat or a former or catalac, the springboard would you be using a mat.
- 14:36[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to be a more advanced piece of equipment.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_00]: It's going to challenge the connections you have.
- 14:40[SPEAKER_00]: There's definitely a lot of uses for it to teach exercises that are more advanced on the reformer in mat.
- 14:45[SPEAKER_00]: It's just inherently a bit more of an advanced piece of equipment.
- 14:48[SPEAKER_00]: It requires strong balance and connections.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_00]: It has a lot of great work for asymmetry
- 14:53[SPEAKER_00]: Not easy, it's definitely got its challenge.
- 14:56[SPEAKER_00]: I love it and I think it's wonderful for home use.
- 14:59[SPEAKER_00]: Also, you can do like five, six exercises and jump off.
- 15:02[SPEAKER_00]: It's great.
- 15:03[SPEAKER_00]: The spine character is a whole different modality.
- 15:06[SPEAKER_00]: So if you were to get one only one thing, I would say if you access to doing matwork or going to a studio for other stuff, get a spine character because there's very few spine character classes and every single person is podcast should be on a spine character.
- 15:19[SPEAKER_00]: Every single person.
- 15:20[SPEAKER_00]: There is a plethora of exercises on there, but there's two series on there that everyone can do almost daily without overworking themselves and that is the arm series and the leg series.
- 15:31[SPEAKER_00]: So I really love a spine corrector of the control of you and mostly, but if you have an arc, and you can check out my videos, I have tips on how to do that.
- 15:38[SPEAKER_00]: So I would just say, like, it really depends on what your goals are, Laura.
- 15:43[SPEAKER_00]: And then it's from there, you'll pick, but you could honestly have all three of these in the same space.
- 15:49[SPEAKER_00]: because like the spy and character can hang on a wall, the springboard's on a wall, the one in trick can be pushed up against someone, it's not news, you could pull it all out.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_00]: So that's, you know, get them all.
- 15:58[SPEAKER_01]: If you want to know which control of spy and character she's talking about, just go to opc.me slash spy and character.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_01]: Opc.me slash spy and character and you'll be able to find that over there.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so great question.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: Thanks for asking.
- 16:12[SPEAKER_01]: If you have a question, just text us at 310-905-5534.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_00]: Go ahead.
- 16:18[SPEAKER_00]: You can submit it through bapod.com slash questions where you can leave both the wind and a question or one or the other and you can also any time you want to buy anything from Mount's body or contrology like reach out for our affiliate link because if you if you can get it just count you should and if you can't we'll even there's reasons why you can't But you always just talk to me and we'll figure it out for the works, but like why not try
- 16:42[SPEAKER_01]: doesn't hurt.
- 16:43[SPEAKER_01]: Why don't try?
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Love it.
- 16:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, stick around.
- 16:45[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 16:47[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 16:49[SPEAKER_01]: Let's dig into this conversation with Sherry Tegman.
- 16:52[SPEAKER_01]: Sherry is a dynamic performance coach and creative business strategist who empowers driven individuals to break free from conventional expectations and unleash the Maverick within.
- 17:03[SPEAKER_01]: She specializes in guiding ambitious professionals and high achievers who are exhausted by the status quo and currently navigating life's major transitions, such as midlife identity shifts and perimenopause.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_01]: Using her bold unconventional approach, she house clients authentically unpack their emotional baggage, resolve internal contradictions, and intentionally designed lives guided by their own rules.
- 17:27[SPEAKER_00]: we could have had her for three episodes.
- 17:30[SPEAKER_00]: Like she's just phenomenal, has so much to share.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_01]: I enjoy her transparency.
- 17:35[SPEAKER_01]: I think it's really funny to me to listen to someone who is willing to be transparent.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_01]: So that people don't judge them.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_01]: because I know I do that like I build the caveat into the statement with what the things that I say and I was listening to her do it and I was like, and then she acknowledges she's doing it.
- 17:53[SPEAKER_01]: I was like, oh, that's really interesting.
- 17:55[SPEAKER_01]: I get that.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_00]: I also think that we both do it and I never acknowledged it.
- 17:59[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes I do.
- 18:00[SPEAKER_00]: I'm like, I'm about technology.
- 18:01[SPEAKER_00]: This is going to have a critical but like,
- 18:02[SPEAKER_00]: I don't know like I understand like I like to say those things not to be judged, but like so people know that I don't sit here on my pedestal like I haven't got it all together You know, I think we all have to be human.
- 18:12[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, that's not what I love.
- 18:14[SPEAKER_00]: I loved she said in our lives, we walk around carrying everyone else's red shoes pile of crap and you walk around a wheel in it with you because you call it identity you call it belonging and she said the first piece to finding yourself as to unpack
- 18:30[SPEAKER_00]: And I just, I was like, oh, it's a brilliant visual.
- 18:34[SPEAKER_00]: What a visual.
- 18:35[SPEAKER_00]: And really.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of visual.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_00]: We wield this power crap around because we mistakenly call it our identity, belonging, culture, religion, family, like all these things.
- 18:45[SPEAKER_00]: And I've got a guest coming up that I've interviewed.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_00]: about like good dottering and like I think especially the women listening to this can understand like you're like taking on this stuff like I have family members are like oh do you want Ramaz this and great grandparents this it's like oh my god this is so much I don't why do I have to be responsible for carrying on the legacy of this pot you know like that right and it's not even that's not even the emotional stuff it's like just like but a visual of what things things are and she said this bag is fills with things that aren't yours and so you have no room for
- 19:18[SPEAKER_00]: and that is like so powerful.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_00]: Like if you're struggling to try new things, do new things, find yourself, it's like you can't because I can't buy new a new coat with this closet so full of like I get rid of some stuff.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_00]: of which the blues and were laughing is because we're packing, like as we're growing this we're packing for Europe and it's gonna be so cold that I love coats and I can only bring one coat and they're like buying another coat I'm like I don't need another coat I have great coats I can only dig what so you ultimately have to understand why you keep repacking the same thing in order to finally get a chance to make any real choices so I love this because like I feel like some people think that they're self sabotaging or
- 19:58[SPEAKER_00]: they're in the same spiral.
- 19:59[SPEAKER_00]: And it's like, yeah, we kept packing the same stuff expecting a new result.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_01]: You know, carrying around the old shit.
- 20:05[SPEAKER_00]: Yes, but in you just keep repacking the old shit.
- 20:09[SPEAKER_00]: And that's why you don't get anything new.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_00]: Like, we had Brad Bizcheck on.
- 20:12[SPEAKER_00]: And I'm pretty sure it was in his episode.
- 20:14[SPEAKER_00]: We talked about like, to get to the next level, you have to have a new backpack of stuff.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_00]: You know, so anyways, like, I think there's some physical and mental unpacking.
- 20:24[SPEAKER_00]: A lot of us have to do if we want to be until we see it.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_01]: That's episode five, 89.
- 20:28[SPEAKER_01]: If you're wondering, Brad Bizjack, it was a fantastic episode.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_00]: I've stopped guessing, it's beyond.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_01]: It's all right.
- 20:34[SPEAKER_01]: We're at 674.
- 20:35[SPEAKER_01]: Not 47.
- 20:37[SPEAKER_00]: I'm gonna keep going, guys.
- 20:39[SPEAKER_00]: It would have been like this thing if you've been a long time listener that like, wow, she keeps doing it.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_00]: But now, new listeners, I used to just feel like, I used to just get them right.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_00]: This one, that one.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_00]: So, now.
- 20:48[SPEAKER_01]: Well, I really loved when she was talking about the next step after the Red Shoes, where she was talking about,
- 20:55[SPEAKER_01]: making space for new things like the unpacking part of it.
- 20:59[SPEAKER_01]: She said in order for you to okay, hold on.
- 21:03[SPEAKER_01]: How much joy do you actually want?
- 21:04[SPEAKER_01]: How much joy do you want in your life?
- 21:06[SPEAKER_00]: Okay, you're asking how much joy do you want?
- 21:08[SPEAKER_00]: It likes all the joy.
- 21:09[SPEAKER_01]: All the joy.
- 21:10[SPEAKER_01]: All the joy.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_01]: I want all the joy.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 21:12[SPEAKER_01]: Do you want all the joy?
- 21:13[SPEAKER_01]: Of course.
- 21:14[SPEAKER_01]: Why would we not say, I want joy?
- 21:15[SPEAKER_01]: I want happiness in my life.
- 21:17[SPEAKER_01]: She said equal to the level of joy and fulfillment and peace that you want in your life.
- 21:22[SPEAKER_01]: You have to be willing to go as deep internally.
- 21:26[SPEAKER_00]: Oh, I see.
- 21:27[SPEAKER_00]: I forgot.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 21:28[SPEAKER_01]: So if you want massive amounts of joy, you have to be willing to go massively deep into yourself.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 21:34[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 21:35[SPEAKER_01]: And so she was talking about unpacking and letting go and she said, you know, when she discovered some of the things she said letting go of those things, it wasn't like an overnight thing.
- 21:46[SPEAKER_01]: And she said it was actually she had to go through a grieving process.
- 21:49[SPEAKER_01]: Of course she was letting go of some of the things because, you know, you've embraced this worldview for your entire life or you were like someone to hurt, you know, you were hurt in some way by someone or something or whatever or something failed and it really, you know, scarred you, you know, she said during the process of unpacking, it actually created a lot of grief.
- 22:12[SPEAKER_01]: And she said,
- 22:13[SPEAKER_01]: But if you don't do it, that emotion will sneak up on you.
- 22:17[SPEAKER_01]: And it will come back and bite you in the ass when you don't want it to.
- 22:20[SPEAKER_00]: Right.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: You have to do it anyways.
- 22:21[SPEAKER_00]: You're going to have to do it.
- 22:22[SPEAKER_00]: You may as well do it in a time when you're in control of it.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 22:25[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, it's part of the process of making space or something new.
- 22:28[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, if we feel trapped, how we get out of that is we release, we go deeper in and then and then we can come out the other side.
- 22:36[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, if you're feeling stuck right now, it has to be looking internally.
- 22:42[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, and that's going to be how we work like I don't want to do a little bit of work.
- 22:47[SPEAKER_00]: Just have a little bit of joy.
- 22:48[SPEAKER_00]: That seems like an annoying amount of effort.
- 22:50[SPEAKER_00]: I'd rather do a lot of work to have a lot of joy.
- 22:52[SPEAKER_00]: Like that feels like I'm in it to win on that.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: 100%.
- 22:54[SPEAKER_01]: We'll stick around.
- 22:55[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 22:56[SPEAKER_00]: I want to go up on a tangent.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 22:57[SPEAKER_00]: Go up on a tangent.
- 22:58[SPEAKER_00]: So today, the day we're recording this, Margaret Margarita, Margarita, Magnusyn died.
- 23:05[SPEAKER_00]: She got people excited about or aware of something called the Swedish death cleaning.
- 23:09[SPEAKER_00]: And the Swedish death cleaning is that you, it's a Scandinavian decluttering method that is about removing unnecessary items before you die.
- 23:19[SPEAKER_00]: So that you're not
- 23:22[SPEAKER_00]: leaving your fucking red shoes for someone else to back around and the idea is like it's not supposed to be like more but it's actually supposed to be like you invite people over they take that you tell in the story about the things and the things that nobody wants and you can like let go of and someone can take so that when you pass one all those things are gone and two like in your living days tell people how important that was or what that thing meant or what the history of that thing was so they can have it and then when you pass they don't
- 23:52[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, it's does stoddening.
- 23:54[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: I love it.
- 23:55[SPEAKER_01]: That's actually brilliant.
- 23:56[SPEAKER_01]: And as long as you're not guilt-tripping people and taking your shit.
- 23:59[SPEAKER_00]: Right, don't you know what?
- 24:01[SPEAKER_00]: We all know who those people are in our lives and we don't have to go.
- 24:03[SPEAKER_01]: So yeah, it's called does stoddening.
- 24:05[SPEAKER_01]: And it works as long as you're not guilt-tripping people and taking your shit.
- 24:10[SPEAKER_01]: But there's a book about it.
- 24:11[SPEAKER_01]: It's called the gentle art of Swedish death cream.
- 24:14[SPEAKER_00]: Do you think if I send that to my mom, it would be considered passive aggressive or just aggressive?
- 24:23[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, that she should be doing this?
- 24:25[SPEAKER_01]: I think that, I think that that means that we have to go.
- 24:28[SPEAKER_01]: Like, everyone goes to the place, and that's like a ceremony.
- 24:31[SPEAKER_00]: And people go, I already took what I need.
- 24:34[SPEAKER_00]: But she should do it for other people.
- 24:36[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, no, I mean, I think this is wise.
- 24:38[SPEAKER_01]: I think this is more of a process of actually the telling of the story and the stuff gives things meaning.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 24:44[SPEAKER_01]: Right.
- 24:46[SPEAKER_01]: My grandfather didn't quite do it this way, but while he was alive, he let the kids, my parent, my dad, and his siblings go through everything and get rid of it.
- 24:56[SPEAKER_01]: So, by the time, when he did pass away eventually, the cleanup of his estate was done immediately.
- 25:04[SPEAKER_01]: Everything was already ready to go.
- 25:06[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, so I saw that, and that was really helpful, but not going to lie.
- 25:11[SPEAKER_01]: Even with being diligent,
- 25:15[SPEAKER_01]: years.
- 25:16[SPEAKER_01]: Even being diligent.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: Yes.
- 25:18[SPEAKER_00]: And I, he didn't do it.
- 25:19[SPEAKER_00]: But I do feel like the things, some of the things we took.
- 25:21[SPEAKER_00]: We got the history of it through the family members.
- 25:23[SPEAKER_00]: But like, I just, but this is just on the tangent of like, share it, like, in the physical and emotional space of like, what can we do for the people around us so that they don't feel this need to carry on?
- 25:34[SPEAKER_00]: Because I do think some of the listeners, like, I have family members who like won't let go of stuff because like, that was my, like, I feel, I've even heard your friend.
- 25:41[SPEAKER_00]: But that's great grandpa's stuff.
- 25:44[SPEAKER_00]: We are going to need bigger homes, not just like, physically, but like, we're making our own exams.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_00]: Mentally, because like, you, it's hard.
- 25:53[SPEAKER_00]: It's just anyways, we all want to be better people on have joy and sometimes we're gone.
- 25:56[SPEAKER_00]: And we don't have that because we got a bunch of other people stuff in the way.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_00]: That's all.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah.
- 26:00[SPEAKER_00]: Anyways, just another way of thinking about it.
- 26:02[SPEAKER_01]: Wait, one, one last way to be trapped.
- 26:05[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because, because trap.
- 26:06[SPEAKER_01]: Now I'm like, see, because trap is two things.
- 26:10[SPEAKER_01]: You can be trapped by keeping this stuff yourself.
- 26:13[SPEAKER_01]: You can also be trapped if someone dies and they do a bunch of shit you got to deal with.
- 26:16[SPEAKER_01]: So, you know, like, it's definitely challenging.
- 26:18[SPEAKER_00]: And when they, and if they do, I was red shoes, she's talking about, I'm just thinking about, like, when people die suddenly or they die and there's unanswered and from emotional, like problems and stuff, like you then feel like you've to protect the red shoes.
- 26:31[SPEAKER_00]: And so I just think that there's some things we could be doing.
- 26:33[SPEAKER_00]: As we be until we see this, we change our lives.
- 26:35[SPEAKER_00]: We become better than the people like we want to wear.
- 26:38[SPEAKER_00]: I think it 1% but whatever those things are, how could we be making it so that the people around us don't carry our fucking red shoes?
- 26:44[SPEAKER_00]: I don't want anyone carrying.
- 26:45[SPEAKER_00]: I mean, you might like them, but I don't want anyone have it feeling they have to.
- 26:48[SPEAKER_01]: All right, well, stick around.
- 26:49[SPEAKER_01]: We'll be right back.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_01]: We're going to dig into those be it action items with Sherry Tegman.
- 26:54[SPEAKER_01]: Welcome back.
- 26:55[SPEAKER_01]: All right, let's talk about the be it action items that you have with your combo with Sherry Tegman.
- 26:58[SPEAKER_01]: What bold, executable intrinsic or targeted action items can we take away?
- 27:02[SPEAKER_01]: She said when it comes to being trapped and going deeper and trying to figure that out, how do we do that?
- 27:07[SPEAKER_01]: She said,
- 27:08[SPEAKER_01]: However, you need to punch it out, punch a pillow, cry a new pillow, write it out, burn it out, whatever your ritual needs to be, dance it out, bang it out.
- 27:15[SPEAKER_01]: She explains that we have to tell the truth to ourselves.
- 27:18[SPEAKER_01]: We cannot pretend that like only having the high real light real, and then that that's okay and it's got to allow us to feel like a human.
- 27:25[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah, because otherwise it will still sneak up on you, right?
- 27:28[SPEAKER_01]: If we don't allow emotion, the emotional sneak up on you when you don't want it.
- 27:32[SPEAKER_01]: And she said, emotion is just emotion, it's not good or bad.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_00]: this goes back to Dr. Bender, like her second interview.
- 27:40[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, we always are trying to, like, you're at the reason why we fill an emotion, but she's like, just let it go by.
- 27:45[SPEAKER_00]: Sometimes it's a emotion your body wants to feel.
- 27:46[SPEAKER_00]: It has nothing to do with what you're thinking about right now.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 27:49[SPEAKER_01]: She, she, she, she views this active emotional release as essential.
- 27:53[SPEAKER_01]: Basically, she said, I'm going to grieve because it's part of my process of making space for something new.
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: So,
- 28:00[SPEAKER_01]: Yeah.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: I thought that was great.
- 28:01[SPEAKER_01]: I mean, I think, especially acknowledging that emotion is just emotion.
- 28:05[SPEAKER_01]: It's not good or bad.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_01]: Don't judge yourself.
- 28:07[SPEAKER_01]: You know, I mean, don't, maybe don't break a window.
- 28:10[SPEAKER_01]: But like, you know, if you have to be loud, be loud, it's okay.
- 28:13[SPEAKER_00]: When I lead breath work for the agency members, I'm like, you could laugh.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: You could cry.
- 28:17[SPEAKER_00]: You could do.
- 28:18[SPEAKER_00]: You could want to like scream into a pillow.
- 28:19[SPEAKER_00]: You could need to get up and dance.
- 28:21[SPEAKER_00]: You can need to shake your hands.
- 28:22[SPEAKER_00]: Like, you don't need to figure out why you need to do that.
- 28:24[SPEAKER_00]: Just do the thing.
- 28:25[SPEAKER_00]: Because it doesn't, like, it's just where we're trying to release what's inside.
- 28:30[SPEAKER_00]: Okay.
- 28:31[SPEAKER_00]: Yeah, what about you?
- 28:32[SPEAKER_00]: So many good things.
- 28:34[SPEAKER_00]: But this is brilliant.
- 28:35[SPEAKER_00]: She said, clean up the internal contradictions, which, by the way, as an ADHD person, this is like, like, I'm like, walking internal contradiction, but she don't understand.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: I like people.
- 28:46[SPEAKER_00]: I want to be away from them.
- 28:48[SPEAKER_00]: She's like, you're, as she said, if you're saying, you want to have a bigger life, but you keep making micro choices, you're lying to your nervous system because you're answering the old version of yourself.
- 28:57[SPEAKER_00]: You're not actually doing the work.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: You're not doing it.
- 28:59[SPEAKER_00]: Be it to see it.
- 29:00[SPEAKER_00]: This is basically what you're doing.
- 29:01[SPEAKER_00]: So she says, the identity you want for the life you you want is going to require a line actions to that.
- 29:07[SPEAKER_00]: So what you want, you have to make a line actions for that.
- 29:10[SPEAKER_00]: It sounds common since a
- 29:14[SPEAKER_00]: What are you doing?
- 29:15[SPEAKER_00]: Um, that's not a sale line.
- 29:17[SPEAKER_00]: So she advises to choose your actions intentionally instead of making excuses.
- 29:22[SPEAKER_00]: And I, I think this is, you know, really important.
- 29:24[SPEAKER_00]: I remember like trying to figure out an excuse for why I was late for things or not able to do stuff.
- 29:30[SPEAKER_00]: And honestly, it's so much easier to go.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_00]: I just didn't do it.
- 29:33[SPEAKER_00]: I screwed up like instead of I think it's just a lot easier and you can just move on and think go from there.
- 29:37[SPEAKER_00]: So I agree with that and then she said Once you clean all this up the questions you ask will become much more clear and much more honest and then you'll get those like answers that align with that.
