Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: It's your early morny craze party. I am a Sherry
- 0:03Speaker 1: Mackie at its time, right now. Four Today's word Sleeping
- 0:08Speaker 1: through the Storm. Sleeping through the Storm, Acts twelve six
- 0:14Speaker 1: through seven says the night before Herod was to bring
- 0:18Speaker 1: him to trial, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, bound
- 0:22Speaker 1: with two chains. Suddenly, an angel of the Lord appeared
- 0:26Speaker 1: and a light shone in the cell. He was struck.
- 0:29Speaker 1: He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. Quick,
- 0:33Speaker 1: get up, he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrist.
- 0:38Speaker 1: You know, Peter was in what we would consider or
- 0:43Speaker 1: what looked like an impossible situation. He was chained, he
- 0:48Speaker 1: was guarded and scheduled to be executed the next day.
- 0:54Speaker 1: His close friend Jane's, had already been killed. There was
- 0:57Speaker 1: no logical reason to believe would survive. Yet when God's
- 1:02Speaker 1: in an angel to rescue him, Peter wasn't crying. Peter
- 1:06Speaker 1: wasn't paysing back and forth, he wasn't panicking, y'all. Peter
- 1:09Speaker 1: was sleep. That's not natural peace, that's supernatural peace. That's
- 1:17Speaker 1: the kind of peace of God promises that goes beyond
- 1:20Speaker 1: our human understanding, the kind of peace that lets you
- 1:24Speaker 1: rest when everything around you says you should be worried.
- 1:27Speaker 1: The kind of peace that allows you to trust God
- 1:30Speaker 1: when the outcome looks uncertain. The kind of peace that
- 1:33Speaker 1: doesn't depend on circumstances changing, it depends on God being
- 1:38Speaker 1: in control. Peter had learned something powerful. Anxiety doesn't change anything,
- 1:45Speaker 1: but trust changes everything. He knew he couldn't fight his
- 1:51Speaker 1: way out of that prison, wreasing his way out of
- 1:54Speaker 1: the prison, or stress his way out of the prison.
- 1:57Speaker 1: The only thing he could do was in God. See
- 2:01Speaker 1: That's why later he wrote cast all your anxieties on him.
- 2:06Speaker 1: He wasn't quoting theory, he was sharing experience. He had
- 2:10Speaker 1: learned that when you release the weight, God releases the
- 2:14Speaker 1: power Come own Jesus. So often we stay awake, worrying
- 2:20Speaker 1: while God is ready to work. We rehearse worst case
- 2:24Speaker 1: scenarios while Heaven is arranging solutions. We carry burdens God
- 2:28Speaker 1: never asked us to carry. But peace comes when you
- 2:32Speaker 1: finally say, God, this is bigger than me, but it's
- 2:36Speaker 1: not bigger than you. I don't understand it, but I
- 2:39Speaker 1: do trust you. I'm done trying to control what I
- 2:44Speaker 1: cannot fix. But you can see. That's when chains fall,
- 2:49Speaker 1: that's when doors open, that's when angels go to work.
- 2:53Speaker 1: You may not see it yet, you may not know
- 2:56Speaker 1: the answer yet. But if you can sleep in the
- 2:59Speaker 1: middle of the storm, woo, you already winning. You're already winning.
- 3:04Speaker 1: You're already ahead of the game. Peace is not the
- 3:07Speaker 1: absence of problems. It's the presence of God. Come on, Jesus,
- 3:13Speaker 1: and when God is with you, you can rest anywhere,
- 3:16Speaker 1: even in the middle of the prison. Come, Oh, Jesus Father,
- 3:20Speaker 1: thank you for the peace that doesn't depend on our circumstances,
- 3:23Speaker 1: but on your presence. Thank you that we don't have
- 3:26Speaker 1: to understand everything to trust you God. We choose to
- 3:29Speaker 1: release every worry, every fear, every burden into your hands. God.
- 3:33Speaker 1: We declare that we will rest while you work. God.
- 3:36Speaker 1: We receive your peace and passes all understanding in Jesus' name. Hey,
- 3:41Speaker 1: now that's your word for today. Take an applied to
- 3:44Speaker 1: your everyday life, and you contee to be encouraged and inspired.
- 3:47Speaker 1: It's early what he praise party. I am Sherry Mackie
