- 0:02Speaker 1: Some of the content of Patriots Unfiltered may not be
- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:11Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. He missed Agalore wide open on the numbers
- 0:17Speaker 1: on Tuesday. That might be his bill blast? Is that
- 0:20Speaker 1: the guy Steve Steve bats Steve blasts, But I started
- 0:25Speaker 1: throwing the ball to the wrong team. That's bad. Yeah,
- 0:27Speaker 1: that was bad. The timing on his blocks time. Lord
- 0:31Speaker 1: huh what they call him? Jesus? What is wrong with you?
- 0:34Speaker 1: For the love of God, can you please stop saying
- 0:36Speaker 1: plus every other sentence? Do I know? I got your tweet?
- 0:40Speaker 1: Let it go? Sorry you had to hear me say
- 0:41Speaker 1: plus a few too many times. Not only that, but
- 0:44Speaker 1: in addition to as well as well, I will say though,
- 0:47Speaker 1: if you're in the playoffs, screw the hole. Everybody gets
- 0:50Speaker 1: to play go for the way. Why did that? I
- 0:53Speaker 1: always wanted to go into comedy, right, I liked it
- 0:55Speaker 1: and I'm funny. That's true. They used to remember that
- 0:58Speaker 1: Jack Craig. I think is name was not Jack Craig,
- 1:01Speaker 1: not the goalie, No, not the goal No, what about
- 1:03Speaker 1: Jim Jim Craig? Who's Jim the goalie? Was he a critic?
- 1:08Speaker 1: It was funny. He was right outside he was he
- 1:10Speaker 1: was right outside your office. Yeah, John bon Jovie, Yeah, Robert.
- 1:15Speaker 1: This is Patriots Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan. All Right, welcome
- 1:22Speaker 1: the Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Gillette's Stadium,
- 1:26Speaker 1: and we'll be here for the next two hours talking Patriots,
- 1:29Speaker 1: probably a little Celtics. Oh we're gonna talk Celtics. Oh yeah,
- 1:32Speaker 1: and whatever else. But um, it's Deuce, it's Paul, it's me,
- 1:35Speaker 1: it's Matt and the booth. But we also have Alexandra
- 1:38Speaker 1: Francisco for the first time. I've been waiting to get
- 1:42Speaker 1: you on air. Let me who had that pronunciation proper?
- 1:45Speaker 1: I don't know. I've never heard fred Nayli. I would
- 1:47Speaker 1: have lost a lot of money on that bed. What's
- 1:49Speaker 1: so hard about Alexandra Francisco? What's so hard about Jim Craig.
- 1:52Speaker 1: You couldn't handle that last show. That's just the wrong name. Yeah,
- 1:58Speaker 1: put you put your mic one. We're gonna call you
- 2:01Speaker 1: alex by the way, everybody calls you out. Now, let's
- 2:03Speaker 1: flift the microphone up a little bit. You would think,
- 2:05Speaker 1: with your extensive experience on like the Greg Hill Show,
- 2:08Speaker 1: you'd know that you need to speak into the micaf
- 2:14Speaker 1: Now Alex is on our staff. She's our lifestyle writer,
- 2:18Speaker 1: but also, you know, writes all kinds of stuff, a
- 2:20Speaker 1: lot of features on players um and has her eye on,
- 2:24Speaker 1: you know, the zeitgeist of social media. Whenever the players
- 2:28Speaker 1: do anything, she's all she's all over it. But you
- 2:31Speaker 1: were also a finalist on for the Greg Hill Morning Show. Right,
- 2:35Speaker 1: certainly not a finalist, but I was. We're going with finalists,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and I know the reason why they didn't choose you
- 2:42Speaker 1: is because you would have automatically been the smartest one
- 2:45Speaker 1: on the show. And I'm not kidding, that's not I
- 2:48Speaker 1: was getting that sense. It's not a joke. They did
- 2:50Speaker 1: say on a radio show after I went on that
- 2:53Speaker 1: they wish they had invited me back because I probably
- 2:57Speaker 1: would have done better than some of the people they
- 2:58Speaker 1: did invite back. But whatever, they're loss now, you guys
- 3:01Speaker 1: got me right, absolutely, And it kind of feels like
- 3:03Speaker 1: we're ambushing her today because the Celtics lost last night
- 3:05Speaker 1: and she's a very passionate Celtics fan, not just passionate,
- 3:08Speaker 1: but very knowledgeable. So we're gonna talk some Celtics and fashion.
- 3:13Speaker 1: She's gonna school us a little bit. She likes a
- 3:16Speaker 1: guy that I don't really like him, and we're gonna
- 3:18Speaker 1: argue about him. Are you not a market smart guy? Oh? Boy,
- 3:22Speaker 1: waiting for this, come at me. One of Paul's things
- 3:28Speaker 1: is Paul doesn't like try hard guys. He's not a
- 3:31Speaker 1: try hard guy. Like, he doesn't try hard. You keep
- 3:34Speaker 1: painting him out as being Jeff Fry. I don't like
- 3:37Speaker 1: Jeff Fry's better than Jeff Fry exactly. Yeah, he's talented,
- 3:41Speaker 1: he just doesn't play to his strengths. He thinks he's
- 3:44Speaker 1: different than he is. He thinks he's an elite offensive
- 3:47Speaker 1: player when he's wide open, shoot the ball. Yes, and
- 3:50Speaker 1: that's what he does. No, okay, anyway, we'll talk about
- 3:53Speaker 1: that all right. Um, So Alex is going to be
- 3:57Speaker 1: with us, and you know, probably more often than not.
- 4:00Speaker 1: I hope, yeah, you know, yeah pressure, Yeah, hopefully I
- 4:03Speaker 1: don't blow that. Yeah, Tamara, if anyone's wondering, Tamara's gonna
- 4:07Speaker 1: be sidelined for the revs tomorrow night. So that's cool.
- 4:10Speaker 1: How did that all come about? Well, Um, the regular
- 4:14Speaker 1: sideline person, Elizabeth no not go for IAmA. Yeah. Oh,
- 4:22Speaker 1: she got a job that she worked for the Revs,
- 4:24Speaker 1: worked for us. Well, she was a freelance. Yeah, she
- 4:27Speaker 1: did that, but she got a channel but Channel five.
- 4:29Speaker 1: Yeah that during the finals. Of course, all our games
- 4:33Speaker 1: are on Buzy or thirty eight, which and so yeah,
- 4:37Speaker 1: that doesn't work out so conflict. So yeah, go Tamara. Yeah,
- 4:41Speaker 1: so Tamara's gonna be on the sideline. So she's prepping. Yeah,
- 4:46Speaker 1: catch up on the on the Revs and and every said,
- 4:48Speaker 1: the Celtics and the Red Sox. She's done stuff with
- 4:50Speaker 1: the Bruins, the Patriots and all the revs. So that's
- 4:52Speaker 1: three of the yeah, the Major five. Yeah, and she
- 4:54Speaker 1: did some college hockey too, so she's all over the place. Yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 1: it's great. Another one that passed me by du so
- 5:01Speaker 1: tomorrow night, um check her out on TV thirty eight Revs. Yeah,
- 5:06Speaker 1: who we got who they play? Manny? Oh my god.
- 5:10Speaker 1: That's okay. Yeah, that's good team. So this is where
- 5:14Speaker 1: we grew Alex, right, we find out you know, wishes
- 5:17Speaker 1: from Yeah, it's done. Yeah. So are you make your
- 5:20Speaker 1: comments that are you know, kind of borderline on insensitives? Sure,
- 5:23Speaker 1: that's okay, you know, HR violations yea, So tell us
- 5:27Speaker 1: a little bit about yourself. Alex Okay born and raised
- 5:30Speaker 1: here in Massachusetts. I'm from the Springfield area, small town
- 5:33Speaker 1: called Ludlow, big soccer town for those who are familiar
- 5:37Speaker 1: out in western mass went to you mass studied sports
- 5:40Speaker 1: journalism their internship at Nesson doing Red Sox production. From there,
- 5:46Speaker 1: I wrote for mass Live covering high school sports, a
- 5:49Speaker 1: lot of high school football and basketball particularly. Kind of
- 5:53Speaker 1: worked my way up there. What happened was the athletic
- 5:55Speaker 1: came to town and poached, like all of our writers
- 5:58Speaker 1: at mass Live, so I got some reps on Celtics,
- 6:02Speaker 1: did okay enough job to get more opportunities to cover
- 6:05Speaker 1: the paths cover the Red Sox and that led to
- 6:07Speaker 1: me going back to Nesson as a content writer. Um,
- 6:12Speaker 1: where I have been was the last two years before
- 6:15Speaker 1: I came here. How is Ludlow a soccer town? That's
- 6:18Speaker 1: how they got a huge facility? What are they house?
- 6:22Speaker 1: I didn't. I wasn't aware that's like the biggest tournaments
- 6:24Speaker 1: or in Ludlow. Really so actually funny enough, Ludlow was
- 6:29Speaker 1: the reason why m IAA has state tournaments, believe it
- 6:32Speaker 1: or not for any sports. But what happened with Ludlow
- 6:36Speaker 1: is just there's a huge population of Portuguese people there.
- 6:39Speaker 1: They all immigrated in, right, so as a means of
- 6:43Speaker 1: keeping these guys in school and not dropping out to
- 6:46Speaker 1: go work construction because language barriers, whatever the reason may
- 6:50Speaker 1: be for an immigrant in the United States, one coach
- 6:54Speaker 1: Jack Curty kind of legendary, and Ludlow brought them all
- 6:57Speaker 1: onto the soccer team because it's universal, universal language. Right.
- 7:01Speaker 1: So from there the teams were just like incredible. Had
- 7:06Speaker 1: a huge rivalry with New Bedford. But what is it
- 7:10Speaker 1: twenty twenty two. I think they have like eighteen Division
- 7:13Speaker 1: one state championships. My dad's won state championships with Lubo.
- 7:18Speaker 1: It's like it's like a crazy tradition. But they also
- 7:21Speaker 1: have the Western mass Pioneers out there, big so Lustano Stadium. Yeah,
- 7:27Speaker 1: I don't know, the youth, the mb why whatever, the
- 7:31Speaker 1: youth soccer. They built this huge facility out there. It's
- 7:34Speaker 1: got like eighteen fields. You know, I had no idea. Yeah, yeah,
- 7:38Speaker 1: it's crazy. Yeah, it's pretty cool. It's a really cool
- 7:40Speaker 1: culture to grow up in. It's like it's like Friday
- 7:42Speaker 1: night Lights on a smaller level, but with soccer really cool.
- 7:47Speaker 1: It's like a weird place to grow up with because
- 7:49Speaker 1: you're just as likely walking down the halls of your
- 7:52Speaker 1: school to see a kid wearing a Ronaldo or Messy
- 7:54Speaker 1: jersey as you were a Tom Brady jersey growing up.
- 7:57Speaker 1: So definitely us a really interesting counterculture there. But it's
- 8:03Speaker 1: definitely why I got into sports. I started covering the
- 8:06Speaker 1: boys soccer team for my high school paper, and it's
- 8:09Speaker 1: just like you get wrapped up in it. It's such
- 8:11Speaker 1: an exciting atmosphere, and that's a lot of my friends
- 8:15Speaker 1: loved sports, and I wouldn't be surprised if that's why.
- 8:18Speaker 1: How long ago was this legendary coach that he did this?
- 8:21Speaker 1: It decided so Jack Curtie, that must have been in
- 8:24Speaker 1: like the sixties through the seven Yeah, so it goes
- 8:27Speaker 1: all the way back. I did my senior thesis set
- 8:29Speaker 1: you mass on this actually, just because when I was
- 8:32Speaker 1: in high school, the boys team went to States I
- 8:36Speaker 1: think three or four years, and one twice they won
- 8:39Speaker 1: the Western Mass Tournament. Like the five years that I
- 8:42Speaker 1: was in high school and had just left or was
- 8:45Speaker 1: about no, I'm saying like for five years I was
- 8:50Speaker 1: in high school four years and then the year after
- 8:52Speaker 1: I left, they won Western mass I believe, and before
- 8:55Speaker 1: I got there they were winning too. So just that's
- 8:59Speaker 1: little dynas out there. Yeah, and so what sports did
- 9:02Speaker 1: you play? Did you play any sports? I played soccer, basketball,
- 9:04Speaker 1: and I ran track. Yea. What is your favorite sport now?
- 9:09Speaker 1: To cover? To cover? I like cover in the Red
- 9:13Speaker 1: Sox because you just hang out and it's party, You're
- 9:15Speaker 1: talking to your friends pregame. It's definitely the most laid
- 9:18Speaker 1: back and relaxed. Um. Yeah, but they're the most arrogant
- 9:22Speaker 1: crew though, And it used to be the best access.
- 9:25Speaker 1: I don't know if you know, but it used to
- 9:26Speaker 1: be those that cover baseball for a living. We're a
- 9:30Speaker 1: little bit better than everybody else. Yeah, but I like
- 9:33Speaker 1: all the boys I covered baseball. It's a long season.
- 9:36Speaker 1: It is a really long season, and that's why there's
- 9:39Speaker 1: so much downtime, and it's it's relaxed. That's why I
- 9:42Speaker 1: could never do it. Like to go cover an NBA game,
- 9:44Speaker 1: I blink in the first half's over and you're like
- 9:47Speaker 1: turning out a notebook and it's like how much can
- 9:49Speaker 1: you actually pay attention to the game because it's all
- 9:51Speaker 1: so quick? But that is true. You can write while
- 9:54Speaker 1: the game's going on in baseball better than any other sport,
- 9:57Speaker 1: Oh for sure. I can't tell you how many times
- 9:59Speaker 1: I've had to rewrite an entire gamer in one inning,
- 10:02Speaker 1: right because something happens and all of a sudden, the
- 10:05Speaker 1: Red Sox are winning now and they're going to extras
- 10:08Speaker 1: and lost in the four in Miami when they like
- 10:13Speaker 1: Brady through that pick. Oh yeah, oh hell broke loose,
- 10:16Speaker 1: and I was like, I thought, you want to say
- 10:17Speaker 1: Super Bowl fifty one, but well, the same thing, but
- 10:19Speaker 1: I'm not it's not the same. Writing after the BA game,
- 10:22Speaker 1: I think it was Eric Eric talking about I think
- 10:24Speaker 1: he had something written that just had to be blown up.
- 10:27Speaker 1: Oh yeah, everybody, It happens everybody. Yeah. Yeah, So welcome aboard. Yeah,
- 10:33Speaker 1: how long have you been here? Two years? Who are you?
- 10:36Speaker 1: I think I'm going on my fourth or fifth month,
- 10:40Speaker 1: might already almost five months? Yeah, time flies. Yeah, but
- 10:44Speaker 1: you've been doing a great job. Thank Yeah, I'm impressed.
- 10:48Speaker 1: So I've been waiting for the chance, I have to
- 10:50Speaker 1: say that. Yeah, I've been waiting for the chance to
- 10:52Speaker 1: get you down here, because I know, I know you
- 10:54Speaker 1: got the chops. So we'll see about that. Yeah, I
- 10:57Speaker 1: hope I can prove you're right a smart portion. I mean,
- 10:59Speaker 1: you know, we're not the Gregg Hills Show. But you know,
- 11:02Speaker 1: but people actually listen to this show, right right. We
- 11:05Speaker 1: don't need captive audiences in their car. People people actually
- 11:09Speaker 1: choose to listen. Yeah, well, Roasted, Well, I mean you
- 11:13Speaker 1: should tell her about the history of the show, because
- 11:15Speaker 1: I mean, if if she's not aware, I mean, this
- 11:16Speaker 1: show has been dates back twenty plus years right now,
- 11:19Speaker 1: and it's this is and I'm not I'm not kidding.
- 11:24Speaker 1: I believe in no one's yet to prove me wrong
- 11:27Speaker 1: that this is the longest running internet based radio show
- 11:31Speaker 1: in the world. We were a podcast before there used
- 11:35Speaker 1: to be uh it was called Velvet or the Velvet
- 11:38Speaker 1: Underground something. Well, it wasn't Velvet, it was Velvet something
- 11:42Speaker 1: and that was the first but it stopped. And so
- 11:45Speaker 1: we've been doing this since ninety nine or two, I
- 11:49Speaker 1: think it was two thousand two, Yeah, and continuously, so
- 11:54Speaker 1: you know, and then podcasts happen in two thousand and
- 11:56Speaker 1: four with the advent of that device, so they weren't
- 12:00Speaker 1: called podcasts until then, but we were, you know, on
- 12:04Speaker 1: the internet doing a radio show for now twenty two years.
- 12:09Speaker 1: It's crazy Fred and Knight are original members because no
- 12:12Speaker 1: one else will take us. Right, Have you guys received
- 12:15Speaker 1: any awards for that or is that I don't know
- 12:17Speaker 1: if there isn't an I've tried to go on Wikipedia
- 12:20Speaker 1: and update the podcast page, but you know, Wikipedia, it's
- 12:24Speaker 1: all like these they have to pay for it, you know,
- 12:26Speaker 1: Nazi editors and like give them a little donation. You
- 12:31Speaker 1: have to prove it, you know, Yeah, people have, so
- 12:35Speaker 1: it's like I'm the source. Growing up, people and professors
- 12:38Speaker 1: and teachers were always like with Wikipedia is not a source,
- 12:41Speaker 1: but like you can learn a lot on Wikipedia. No,
- 12:44Speaker 1: But the way Wikipedia works is that you can't put
- 12:47Speaker 1: in a fact a statement without citing the source. So
- 12:50Speaker 1: unless your sources weren't like like for example, a Boston
- 12:53Speaker 1: Globe article could be wrong and that's your source, but
- 12:57Speaker 1: you have to cite sources high probability of that. Yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 1: you have to cite sources on Wikipedia in order for
- 13:02Speaker 1: it to stay up on more of the high profile pages.
- 13:06Speaker 1: Like if there's the Paul Parilla page, nobody cares. You
- 13:10Speaker 1: can put anything you want on there, but like if
- 13:12Speaker 1: it's careful you know, for example, Robert Craft's page. If
- 13:18Speaker 1: you put something up there and it's wrong, it will
- 13:21Speaker 1: come down within minutes because people are watching the page. Well,
- 13:24Speaker 1: sometimes it's crazy, like it gets announced like somebody signed
- 13:26Speaker 1: with the Patriots and you're like, who's this guy? And
- 13:28Speaker 1: you just type it in real quick and it's somebody's
- 13:30Speaker 1: already put it into Wikipedia. Yeah, I don't know who
- 13:33Speaker 1: These people are out there just waiting on news to
- 13:35Speaker 1: break so that they can enter it into somebody's Wikipedia page.
- 13:37Speaker 1: But if that's the case, if you need a source,
- 13:40Speaker 1: how come like after a sports of like say someone
- 13:43Speaker 1: gets like donked on in a game, and then like
- 13:45Speaker 1: people will go in and edit their Wikipedia like right away,
- 13:48Speaker 1: right like fright away and change. You can do that.
- 13:52Speaker 1: But if someone if someone objects and says that's incorrect,
- 13:57Speaker 1: and there's no they can, it will be deleted. Did
- 14:00Speaker 1: in the editors, you know, the people who actually work
- 14:03Speaker 1: for Wikipedia will say, unless you have a source, it's
- 14:07Speaker 1: not going back up strenuously, you know. And again this
- 14:11Speaker 1: is for the more of the high profile pages. Um,
- 14:14Speaker 1: but yeah, it's it's not it gets a bad rap
- 14:18Speaker 1: because of some of the garbage that goes up. But
- 14:20Speaker 1: for like you know, um, it does it's it definitely
- 14:23Speaker 1: has a purpose. It does its job. Yes, it does
- 14:26Speaker 1: well when you compare it to like growing up, we
- 14:27Speaker 1: had the actual encyclopedia, the World Book Encyclopedia that was
- 14:30Speaker 1: made in like nineteen sixty and like if you had
- 14:32Speaker 1: a question about something, that was the only place you
- 14:34Speaker 1: could really go. When I was a kid, you know
- 14:36Speaker 1: all my records I did well. Yeah, like funking Wagnial,
- 14:40Speaker 1: It hasn't been confirmed since I had a great teacher.
- 14:42Speaker 1: His favorite response look it up in your funking Wagnals
- 14:45Speaker 1: my favorite all times, which was like, oh I loved it.
- 14:48Speaker 1: I still remember it to this day when all time
- 14:50Speaker 1: class you get him at like the supermarket. Yeah, all right,
- 14:53Speaker 1: So what do we got any Celtics news? I mean,
- 14:56Speaker 1: we have Patriots news before we get into the Celtics
- 15:00Speaker 1: because that's depressing. Yeah, so the way they played the
- 15:02Speaker 1: last two games, so Quinn Nordine out Tristan Viscaino in um.
- 15:07Speaker 1: But Quinn Nordine is still with the Sorry, so he
- 15:10Speaker 1: cleared waivers and is now still But I mean, what
- 15:12Speaker 1: happened to him? I don't know. He's got the leg
- 15:15Speaker 1: right and I don't know. I don't know what's hurt,
- 15:17Speaker 1: but we haven't seen him. I know he did do
- 15:19Speaker 1: some good kicking, but um, that's this came this guy
- 15:22Speaker 1: who's been around a little bit, I think, but I
- 15:23Speaker 1: think he missed like some like five extra points before
- 15:27Speaker 1: he got cut. Yeah, so maybe a little competition for
- 15:29Speaker 1: Nick Folk. And then you know Pauls thing. Uh Jacobe
- 15:32Speaker 1: Meyers signing his his tender yesterday, Um, which he had
- 15:36Speaker 1: to because otherwise he risks losing like three million dollars.
- 15:40Speaker 1: So word is that there's still talk. We'll still talk
- 15:43Speaker 1: about you know what extension, but there's no rush for
- 15:46Speaker 1: the Patriots. Now, was that weird all rush for anything?
- 15:49Speaker 1: I mean, do you usually guys sign those tenders quickly?
- 15:51Speaker 1: Was it strange that he held off this long time
- 15:54Speaker 1: sign No, there was another one that was signed yesterday.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I forget now around the league there was another restrict
- 16:00Speaker 1: did free agent. I think it's to each his own.
- 16:02Speaker 1: But the one thing to keep in mind with that
- 16:04Speaker 1: Freddie like there's still no urgency because it's not guaranteed,
- 16:09Speaker 1: so the Patriots might not want to pay him. I
- 16:11Speaker 1: think it's like three nine six something like that. Yeah,
- 16:14Speaker 1: So the Patriots might not want to pay him that much,
- 16:17Speaker 1: and Jakobe Myers might say, well, fine, do you want
- 16:21Speaker 1: to lower that number, Let's make an extension. That's where
- 16:25Speaker 1: it works. And I think for one year Myers is
- 16:29Speaker 1: probably fine with three point nine six, but the Patriots
- 16:32Speaker 1: might want to lower that. So the the whole trade
- 16:35Speaker 1: Nixon thing is part of this. From mini camp. I'm
- 16:38Speaker 1: sort of intrigued by, you know, might they have given
- 16:42Speaker 1: all of those opportunities to trade Nixon in mini camp
- 16:45Speaker 1: to try to say, see, we have a guy who
- 16:48Speaker 1: might be able to work out in the slot and
- 16:50Speaker 1: he had a great Mini camp and he did right.
- 16:52Speaker 1: Do you think I mean, do you think the team
- 16:55Speaker 1: was holding him out of practice? Is that potential or
- 16:57Speaker 1: is it? I don't I don't know. I mean, I
- 17:00Speaker 1: thought it was his comments I think to Mike right
- 17:04Speaker 1: to Reese, who were a little strange. It was like
- 17:06Speaker 1: two weeks ago when you talked about, Yeah, you know
- 17:08Speaker 1: they the big coach, you know, meeting Bill. You know,
- 17:11Speaker 1: when the big coach speaks, you listen. You know, he
- 17:13Speaker 1: wanted me to stay off to the side. But he
- 17:16Speaker 1: said nothing, nothing major, just the normal bumps and bruises.
- 17:20Speaker 1: So like I interpreted that as no, I don't have
- 17:23Speaker 1: any injury. They chose to kind of sit me out.
- 17:26Speaker 1: We should also tell you, Alex, Jacoby Myers dad listens
- 17:28Speaker 1: to the shows and we love Jacoby Myers and his dad.
- 17:32Speaker 1: I just feel bad talking about like contracts with him
- 17:35Speaker 1: because he's just I mean, he's when I started, that
- 17:37Speaker 1: was my first dar. He's kind of like one of
- 17:39Speaker 1: those like original guys that like made that first push
- 17:42Speaker 1: to get on the roster, and so he's always got
- 17:44Speaker 1: a special place. But We're at the Jets game and
- 17:47Speaker 1: I'm in the parking lot and we had a bunch
- 17:50Speaker 1: of people, you know, people with camera crew gear and
- 17:52Speaker 1: all that, and I hear this guy going Fred Fred
- 17:55Speaker 1: and I turned around as this guy with like a
- 17:57Speaker 1: Jacoby Myers jersey, and then I'm like and then it
- 18:00Speaker 1: just dawned to me, Oh, that's his dad. It's like, hey,
- 18:03Speaker 1: how you doing. I got him out here. I was
- 18:05Speaker 1: walking before one of the games that it was just
- 18:07Speaker 1: like Patriot's unfiltered. He's like yelled that at me. I'm like, oh,
- 18:10Speaker 1: mister Myers there. It makes it so hard to say
- 18:14Speaker 1: anything critical. I know. Well, luckily it's it's not hard
- 18:16Speaker 1: with with I mean, Jacobe a guy who's done and
- 18:18Speaker 1: said every everything right, but you know he's just he's
- 18:22Speaker 1: in the gauntlet right now trying to you know, this
- 18:25Speaker 1: last year contract. It's a crowd. Hour's gonna go forward crowd.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Who's the receiver on the bike In Nashville, Philter set
- 18:33Speaker 1: Philip to set. Yeah, so Mike, Mike has no use.
- 18:36Speaker 1: He hates Philip too set we can. It's sort of
- 18:39Speaker 1: an it's an abnormal fixate, like he just didn't like
- 18:42Speaker 1: Philip doo a set. So we're in Nashville at Tennessee
- 18:45Speaker 1: Joint Practices and we're doing our show live right on
- 18:48Speaker 1: the field and there's a bike like right here, like
- 18:51Speaker 1: literally ten feet away. Philip Dore sets on the bike.
- 18:54Speaker 1: It Mike is a misery and I'm like, oh, oh,
- 18:58Speaker 1: Paul's like no, I mean I think I think he's
- 19:00Speaker 1: got a He's gonna I don't know, dude, cantor in.
- 19:04Speaker 1: He's on the bike, just fuming. In my defense, though,
- 19:07Speaker 1: Derrick Henry had walked right in front of our table
- 19:10Speaker 1: about two minutes earlier, nothing but like spandex shorts, and
- 19:12Speaker 1: I like was jaw dropped, like I was like, no
- 19:15Speaker 1: one else even broke stride, Like Morrell was the only one,
- 19:18Speaker 1: and he was like kind of producing where he is
- 19:19Speaker 1: right now? So Derrick Henry just walks by and him like,
- 19:22Speaker 1: holy what who is that? And then I just lock
- 19:25Speaker 1: eyes with Morrell and he's like, no, and these guys
- 19:27Speaker 1: don't even like break stride. You know, it's like Eric
- 19:29Speaker 1: and Paul that Megan didn't even look. But I was
- 19:32Speaker 1: another moment of the show where where yeah, we discovered
- 19:35Speaker 1: my love of Derrick Henry. But but yeah, he's a
- 19:38Speaker 1: he's a big boy. I would not want to try
- 19:39Speaker 1: to tackle that man. No, and and neither with most
- 19:42Speaker 1: NFL players. So yeah, what else? Anything else? Patriots? Yeah? No,
- 19:48Speaker 1: I think I think, you know, just wrapping up Mini
- 19:50Speaker 1: camp and now we're kind of entering that. Mike and
- 19:53Speaker 1: I did a now just so people know, just it
- 19:56Speaker 1: was supposed to be just Ota access for the me
- 20:00Speaker 1: media yesterday, but after the mini camp Bill canceled everything. Yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 1: I mean we got what three less sessions with three
- 20:07Speaker 1: less that we thought we were going to see them
- 20:09Speaker 1: that they canceled it right one OTA at the end
- 20:11Speaker 1: before mini camp. No, No, there wasn't one we got
- 20:14Speaker 1: all the last day of mini camp and then yesterday
- 20:17Speaker 1: would have been one. So two. Yeah, too fewer practices
- 20:20Speaker 1: than we were anticipating. Um, I don't buy the whole
- 20:24Speaker 1: like there was bad weather last Thursday. I don't buy
- 20:27Speaker 1: then that practice was canceled because of weather. Absolutely not.
- 20:29Speaker 1: I mean everybody keeps saying it rained like so what, Yeah,
- 20:32Speaker 1: I've never seen Bill cancel a practice solely because of yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 20:38Speaker 1: I just I don't buy. I mean, Bill has his reasons.
- 20:42Speaker 1: I don't know why. And it's not the first time
- 20:44Speaker 1: they've either canceled the last day of mini camp or
- 20:47Speaker 1: shortened it, So it's not out of the ordinary. They've
- 20:50Speaker 1: done it before and there's always some reason. And like
- 20:53Speaker 1: we said last week, maybe you know, they had that
- 20:55Speaker 1: extended practice, maybe they got done what they needed to do.
- 20:58Speaker 1: That was a long practice on Wednesday. It was about
- 21:01Speaker 1: two and change, probably at least it was. Yeah, it
- 21:03Speaker 1: was about two and a half or two and a half. Actually, no,
- 21:09Speaker 1: that was the day after that, and they just kept
- 21:13Speaker 1: going overplaying. They they did another whole set of eleven
- 21:16Speaker 1: on elevens that I think was extra yea, So maybe
- 21:19Speaker 1: he just felt like, you know, we got everything in
- 21:21Speaker 1: that we wanted to get in. They just wanted to
- 21:23Speaker 1: keep repping it a little bit. I don't know, they
- 21:25Speaker 1: have their reasons. Yeah, yeah, I still felt I mean,
- 21:28Speaker 1: even and it wasn't the rain. Yeah, I just there
- 21:30Speaker 1: wasn't a whole lot to look at this year. I
- 21:32Speaker 1: feel like like last year it felt like there was
- 21:34Speaker 1: there was more competitive periods quarterback. Yeah. I mean, and
- 21:39Speaker 1: I'm probably combining some of actual training camp with what
- 21:42Speaker 1: I'm remembering, but I just I seem to remember being
- 21:45Speaker 1: like mac Jones was getting into some competitive situations here,
- 21:47Speaker 1: and it never really felt like they were never doing
- 21:50Speaker 1: down a distance work. It was always kind of at
- 21:52Speaker 1: the same spot. And yeah, so I think you're probably
- 21:57Speaker 1: confusing training camp a little bit, because I do think
- 22:00Speaker 1: that they're remarkably consistent with what they do. Yeah. Yeah,
- 22:04Speaker 1: I just wanted more. I guess I wanted more. I
- 22:06Speaker 1: left wanting more, all right, kind of like Marcus smart shots.
- 22:11Speaker 1: So that's I only took twenty six tonight. I needed more.
- 22:14Speaker 1: That is Patriots. Um, you know, obviously, uh follow Patriots
- 22:19Speaker 1: dot com. If any news breaks, we'll have it on
- 22:22Speaker 1: Patriots dot com. Yeah, but this is kind of the void, right, Yeah,
- 22:25Speaker 1: this is the body kind of shuts it down. And
- 22:28Speaker 1: these are the DONA get your ducks in a row
- 22:30Speaker 1: for previews and you know, thinking about where's the competition
- 22:34Speaker 1: going to be in camp? What are we gonna be?
- 22:35Speaker 1: There was an NFL announcement that I am just I'm
- 22:39Speaker 1: not happy with oh Little Caesars as the official pizza.
- 22:44Speaker 1: I mean, isn't that trash that place? I don't think
- 22:47Speaker 1: I've ever been there. I've never I've ever had it,
- 22:49Speaker 1: so I shouldn't say anything. But like the third place too,
- 22:51Speaker 1: I read that on the announcement that their third behind
- 22:54Speaker 1: what Pizza Hut and Dominoes. I mean I had those two,
- 22:56Speaker 1: but Pizza Hut is the top pizza and the country
- 23:00Speaker 1: for France, you know, Faschise franchise, Pizza Pizza Time. You
- 23:05Speaker 1: know that's true, bred I, yeah, we'd be remiss with
- 23:08Speaker 1: Pizza Time Pizza Hut over Dominoes though for me, yeah,
- 23:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I know. Domino's really up their game,
- 23:16Speaker 1: like over the last not even a food company anymore.
- 23:18Speaker 1: They're like a tech company. Yeah, everything's just automated, but
- 23:22Speaker 1: they were. They used to be awful when I was
- 23:24Speaker 1: in college, Dominoes was Carden but it's better now, and
- 23:28Speaker 1: it was pretty good, but it also was like the
- 23:30Speaker 1: first one around us that delivered that. Yeah, that's how
- 23:33Speaker 1: that's how they bring the pizza to you. Then it
- 23:36Speaker 1: got horrifically bad for a while and I just kind
- 23:38Speaker 1: of stopped going. I've heard it's better now, but I
- 23:40Speaker 1: haven't been a Dominoes two in college. It was I think,
- 23:44Speaker 1: to U two pizzas to coach two orders of bread
- 23:46Speaker 1: sticks for like, I don't know, twenty bucks or something.
- 23:48Speaker 1: That was our go to in college. But I don't
- 23:50Speaker 1: think I've eaten domino since throw a twelve pack. I like,
- 23:53Speaker 1: I like pizza, huh, pizza huh. That's more of the
- 23:56Speaker 1: Chicago of pizza, the Chicago style, right, it's a little
- 23:59Speaker 1: more of the deep dist little deeper, but it's not
- 24:01Speaker 1: deep dish, yeah, but not officially like they I like
- 24:04Speaker 1: the crust. It's like airy, you know, yeah, buttery yeah yeah, yeah, greasy. Yeah.
- 24:11Speaker 1: This conversation is coming after so like two weeks ago,
- 24:16Speaker 1: random spontaneous idea to drive to New Haven and try
- 24:19Speaker 1: the three majors all in the same day and compare them.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Frank Peppe's salad. I like, Frank, I've heard I've heard
- 24:27Speaker 1: of them, but I haven't. I've had pizza so much,
- 24:30Speaker 1: from Costco Pizza to like buying one of those ooney
- 24:35Speaker 1: pizza ovens. Oh yeah, So just gave one of those
- 24:37Speaker 1: to my boyfriend for his birthday this past weekend and
- 24:40Speaker 1: so that you could use it for me. I'm not
- 24:43Speaker 1: even the biggest pizza person, but I've I don't know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: it's just fun and just coming out of the fire.
- 24:49Speaker 1: There's something about cooking with fire that's like you like
- 24:52Speaker 1: a pretty big pizza person right now. From your what
- 24:54Speaker 1: you're saying, this is new, this is like all in
- 24:56Speaker 1: the last three months, I've been on a pizza kick.
- 24:59Speaker 1: I probably had more pizza. And last year of the
- 25:01Speaker 1: Big three, which was the best, Frank Pepe's, Yeah, Sally's
- 25:06Speaker 1: is my number two, I think, and then Modern was
- 25:08Speaker 1: the third two greasy. We're gonna get some strong opinions,
- 25:11Speaker 1: I feel, yeah. I mean for people who aren't from
- 25:12Speaker 1: New England, new Haven Pizza is supposedly like the mecca
- 25:17Speaker 1: of pizza. I didn't know that. Yeah, I'm learning these
- 25:20Speaker 1: things left and right here today on the show because
- 25:21Speaker 1: of it. I didn't know it was like, considered it
- 25:23Speaker 1: the best, but I have heard of those places. Yeah.
- 25:25Speaker 1: When we went for one of the trips last year,
- 25:28Speaker 1: I think we had to take a bus down to
- 25:30Speaker 1: New York because you know, with COVID we couldn't you know,
- 25:33Speaker 1: fly and all that stuff. So we're all on this
- 25:36Speaker 1: like minibus and we're like, let's order ahead. You know,
- 25:41Speaker 1: I forget which one and let's go. It was a
- 25:43Speaker 1: three hour wait for pizza. We were like, all right,
- 25:46Speaker 1: forget it. So I didn't run into that issue, but
- 25:49Speaker 1: I can imagine, Yeah, you had to order three hours
- 25:52Speaker 1: ahead of time. I had no idea. And I've driven
- 25:54Speaker 1: through New Haven plenty of times and if I had
- 25:56Speaker 1: only known, I would. Yeah. And then the one that
- 25:58Speaker 1: gets the most publicity missed. Dick isn't even up there.
- 26:01Speaker 1: I haven't have you. I've I've eaten there. It is good. Yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 1: it's good. Yeah, Yeah it was, Yeah, it was pretty good.
- 26:08Speaker 1: A couple of years ago we went down there there
- 26:09Speaker 1: we'll play in a tournament and missed a Connecticut for
- 26:12Speaker 1: baseball and we stopped there and it was really good. Yeah,
- 26:15Speaker 1: you go to the Great Wales. Wales, We're missing the
- 26:20Speaker 1: underrated part what was that now, Oh, food in general
- 26:23Speaker 1: and mystic Mystics are really underrated New England town. It was.
- 26:27Speaker 1: It was a good trip. It's better than the games.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Good all right? Five five five hundred is the A
- 26:32Speaker 1: sick a houtline. Web radio at Patriots dot com is
- 26:35Speaker 1: the email address. We do need to talk about the Celtics.
- 26:38Speaker 1: I mean, after all, uh, they're one of our teams
- 26:42Speaker 1: and now down three two. Paul, you know, doesn't think
- 26:46Speaker 1: they're that good a team that's ridiculous. Don't don't, don't
- 26:49Speaker 1: do that. Well, the more people say that they're a
- 26:52Speaker 1: good team, the more Paul fights bat here's what I'm
- 26:55Speaker 1: fighting back on. Okay, and Alex will be part of this,
- 26:58Speaker 1: I think. So everybody is pretty much universally in agreement
- 27:03Speaker 1: that the Celtics are superior in talent, right, yeah, So
- 27:08Speaker 1: this is the third series in a row that the
- 27:10Speaker 1: Celtics are faced elimination, and they've been clearly more superior
- 27:15Speaker 1: in talent than all three of their opponents. Because they're young. Okay,
- 27:20Speaker 1: I want to know why it doesn't show if they're
- 27:22Speaker 1: so much better now. I would say without Middleton, they
- 27:25Speaker 1: were clearly more talented than Milwaukee and without hero and
- 27:30Speaker 1: with a crippled Jimmy Butler, they were clearly more superior
- 27:32Speaker 1: in talent than Miami. I don't think they're clearly more
- 27:35Speaker 1: talented than Golden Stead. I think this is a dead
- 27:37Speaker 1: even series. I think the points four and against were
- 27:40Speaker 1: dead even at two two. Going into last night, it
- 27:43Speaker 1: was like four twenty one to four to twenty. I
- 27:45Speaker 1: haven't seen any superiority in talent with one team or
- 27:48Speaker 1: the other. I don't think Golden States better than the
- 27:51Speaker 1: Celtics either. I think they're evenly matched teams, and I
- 27:54Speaker 1: think the more experienced team is playing better for longer stretches.
- 27:58Speaker 1: That's where your youth thing comes in. But Tatum has
- 28:02Speaker 1: not played as well as Curry in the five games.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Brown has not played as well as Wiggins in the
- 28:06Speaker 1: five games. Fact like they just haven't. So I don't
- 28:12Speaker 1: know how you can say you are so clearly. If
- 28:14Speaker 1: you want to say I think the Celtics are a
- 28:15Speaker 1: little better, fine, I agree, I think the Celtics are
- 28:18Speaker 1: a little better. So who are the people saying, Alex?
- 28:22Speaker 1: Can you back me up? You listen to some of
- 28:23Speaker 1: this craft, don't you? Yeah, have you ever heard anybody
- 28:27Speaker 1: in Boston not say that Celtics are clearly better. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 1: especially when it comes to depth. But what we're seeing
- 28:33Speaker 1: is all of a sudden like the thing about them
- 28:35Speaker 1: being clearly better is that it's a different story once
- 28:39Speaker 1: Andrew Wiggins like actually has something like he doesn't really
- 28:42Speaker 1: like basketball. That's always been like one of his biggest
- 28:45Speaker 1: faults against him. But when he does care, when there's
- 28:48Speaker 1: something on the line, this is the type of player
- 28:50Speaker 1: he can be. And he's been the best player of
- 28:53Speaker 1: the series arguably. So there's a lot of things that
- 28:56Speaker 1: weren't factored in. Um. I think, just to piggyback on
- 28:59Speaker 1: your point too, I think like coaching has been an
- 29:01Speaker 1: underrated advantage that Golden State has had that start to
- 29:05Speaker 1: show up, especially in the last two games. Adjustments, Yeah, adjustments.
- 29:10Speaker 1: I don't. I've never really liked Emay's rotations in his lineups.
- 29:14Speaker 1: I don't think he has I don't think he has
- 29:17Speaker 1: a good feel for that. I think the change came.
- 29:19Speaker 1: I think Emay gets a lot of credit for the
- 29:21Speaker 1: turnaround they made, but I really think it's Brad Stevens
- 29:24Speaker 1: trading away half the rotation he was using and forcing
- 29:28Speaker 1: him to just like I don't know. I went from
- 29:31Speaker 1: knowing every single I was covering the team obviously half
- 29:34Speaker 1: the year, and I went from knowing every single guy
- 29:36Speaker 1: even at the end of the bench, and now Brad
- 29:38Speaker 1: Stevens made it so I don't know. Those guys can't
- 29:41Speaker 1: play because their rotation really ends with Grant and Peyton,
- 29:46Speaker 1: and I would even like to see Grant and Peyton
- 29:48Speaker 1: getting less time. Emay rolls out this lineup every game
- 29:51Speaker 1: with Derek White, who I can do no wrong, but
- 29:57Speaker 1: when he's also in a series since game, when he's
- 30:01Speaker 1: also in a lineup that has Grant and Peyton, and
- 30:04Speaker 1: then maybe Tatum is anchoring that lineup but is not
- 30:07Speaker 1: producing any offense, Like, where are you getting offense with
- 30:11Speaker 1: this lineup? Grant and Peyton should never be on the
- 30:13Speaker 1: same floor, on the floor at the same time. Yeah, personally,
- 30:16Speaker 1: so I would say I strongly agree with Alex's point
- 30:20Speaker 1: about Brad Stevens's trade. I do think that eliminated some
- 30:23Speaker 1: guys that were playing. Richardson and even Langford a little
- 30:27Speaker 1: bit when he's healthy. Shrewder, he got those Oh Shrewder,
- 30:30Speaker 1: I forgot about him. Those guys were gone, so he
- 30:32Speaker 1: couldn't use them anymore. That was a big part of
- 30:35Speaker 1: the genesis of the turnaround. And the other part, to
- 30:38Speaker 1: me is the players deserve all the credit. Tatum decided,
- 30:43Speaker 1: I can keep scoring as many points as I want
- 30:45Speaker 1: by pounding the ball into the ground for eighteen seconds
- 30:48Speaker 1: and taking a turnaround fall away three, or I can
- 30:51Speaker 1: move the ball and get other people involved. Marcus Smart,
- 30:54Speaker 1: as much as it pains me to say, started to
- 30:58Speaker 1: become an actual point guard as opposed to what he
- 31:00Speaker 1: thought he was, which is like the third member of
- 31:03Speaker 1: the Big three, right, and he started saying, if I
- 31:06Speaker 1: take ten shots a game, we're a better team than
- 31:09Speaker 1: than we are if I take twenty shots a game
- 31:11Speaker 1: and consistently in the regular season he did that. He
- 31:14Speaker 1: sort of morped back into his old ways when things
- 31:16Speaker 1: bogged down. He's always the guy that thinks he has
- 31:18Speaker 1: to get them out of it. Yeah, I think they,
- 31:20Speaker 1: the players themselves, deserve credit for playing in a different style.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Tatum became less selfish and a better player as a result.
- 31:28Speaker 1: And this is where our guy NBA Kenny as you
- 31:30Speaker 1: like to call him, wiz kenefa Ye Kenny Keller, who
- 31:33Speaker 1: knows as much about the Celtics as anybody because he's
- 31:36Speaker 1: a psychotic. The first half of the year, Tatum just
- 31:39Speaker 1: wasn't playing very well. He was shooting like crap and
- 31:42Speaker 1: not playing well, and the biggest problem with the team
- 31:44Speaker 1: was they have a guy who was one of the
- 31:46Speaker 1: ten best players in the league who's not playing like it.
- 31:48Speaker 1: Right since then, since January ish, he's been one of
- 31:53Speaker 1: the ten best players in the league consistently every night.
- 31:56Speaker 1: One of the things that Frustrata the Celtics is like, okay,
- 32:00Speaker 1: moving the ball, but they're moving the ball consists of
- 32:03Speaker 1: driving the lane, getting guys converge, and then dishing it off.
- 32:08Speaker 1: And a lot of these passes are like with both
- 32:10Speaker 1: feet off the ground where you have no choice. Now
- 32:13Speaker 1: you have to pass it like they're not. It's not
- 32:15Speaker 1: like movement type of moving, you know, like type of offense.
- 32:20Speaker 1: It's like one guy does something and then dishes off
- 32:23Speaker 1: when you know he can't you know he has nowhere
- 32:26Speaker 1: else to go, and it's you know, you're you're passing
- 32:29Speaker 1: as a last resort. They're passing the ball, but it
- 32:32Speaker 1: doesn't seem to be structured enough, you know, where the
- 32:36Speaker 1: last two games has been too much sloppiness on they
- 32:41Speaker 1: set a record for um. Tatum alone has set a
- 32:44Speaker 1: record for turnovers by an individual. Oh, I know, but
- 32:47Speaker 1: the last two games has been a lot of Like
- 32:49Speaker 1: even last night in the first quarter, they didn't have
- 32:51Speaker 1: a tremendous amount of turnovers. They had too many, But
- 32:55Speaker 1: how many passes did they have that deflected off a
- 32:57Speaker 1: guy and then like tam would have to recover forty
- 33:01Speaker 1: feet from the basket. Now we're resetting. There's like eight
- 33:04Speaker 1: seconds on the shot clock, and now you're you're resorting
- 33:06Speaker 1: to hucking something up or even a guy getting getting
- 33:10Speaker 1: a hand on like Looney almost picked Tatum's pocket, Like
- 33:13Speaker 1: kame on, Looney should not be picking Jason Tatum's pocket.
- 33:16Speaker 1: He knocked it off his leg. He had to chase
- 33:17Speaker 1: it down. He ended up getting bailed out because Looney
- 33:19Speaker 1: pushed him out of bounds. You got a foul that
- 33:22Speaker 1: was otherwise that was a lost possession. They have a
- 33:24Speaker 1: million of those where they end up with a terrible
- 33:27Speaker 1: shot because they're sloppy with the ball and they end
- 33:30Speaker 1: up not getting into their office. But to me, that's
- 33:33Speaker 1: that's passing out of desperation, Like, oh, you know, how
- 33:37Speaker 1: many times have we seen it? You drive and they
- 33:39Speaker 1: have both feet off the ground and they're like throwing
- 33:41Speaker 1: it across the court to somebody, and most of the
- 33:43Speaker 1: time it gets there. But that's a dangerous pass because
- 33:47Speaker 1: if the guy, if someone you know, all of a
- 33:50Speaker 1: sudden gets in the path of the ball, you have
- 33:52Speaker 1: no option because both your feet are off the ground.
- 33:55Speaker 1: You either have to throw it or it's a travel
- 33:57Speaker 1: you know, up and down. So I just don't like
- 34:00Speaker 1: the way they move the ball, you know. I just
- 34:02Speaker 1: as somebody who obviously doesn't watch send a basketball, I
- 34:04Speaker 1: just should make it past twelve ten. I was, well,
- 34:08Speaker 1: it was like twelve to four. I think, yeah, I'm
- 34:10Speaker 1: checked out. But it's I mean, basketball is such an
- 34:12Speaker 1: interesting game because it's you're shooting right away and you
- 34:14Speaker 1: kind of have a sense right away for how are
- 34:16Speaker 1: they going to come out? Not you know, not that
- 34:17Speaker 1: you can't can't turn it around, but I mean, just
- 34:19Speaker 1: for me, as like kind of a basketball lay person,
- 34:21Speaker 1: I just look at Steph Curry and I'm like, this
- 34:22Speaker 1: guy is awesome, and he's the best player on the
- 34:25Speaker 1: court right now, and you know, to me that that
- 34:28Speaker 1: seems like the biggest difference. And I mean I see
- 34:30Speaker 1: everything you guys saw with you know, watching the highlights
- 34:32Speaker 1: in some of the games that I have watched the
- 34:33Speaker 1: full game. But it's just, uh, it's an interesting team
- 34:36Speaker 1: because they seem so hot and cold, and that can
- 34:39Speaker 1: go from quarter to quarter, game to game, and I
- 34:41Speaker 1: could definitely see them for two games getting hot again
- 34:44Speaker 1: and making the shots. Like to Fred's point, that's the
- 34:47Speaker 1: way they play. They're gonna drive, they're gonna kick it out,
- 34:49Speaker 1: and if the open guy makes the shot, they're gonna win.
- 34:53Speaker 1: And you know, we go back to the Draymond green scoffing.
- 34:56Speaker 1: You know when when Smart White in al Hafed as
- 35:02Speaker 1: Mark Jackson, McCall him went combined to go fifteen for
- 35:05Speaker 1: twenty three on three pointers in the first game, Draymond
- 35:08Speaker 1: Greene added that up and sort of said, you know,
- 35:10Speaker 1: Smart White or it's not gonna happen. He goes okay,
- 35:14Speaker 1: and the inference was clear, we're gonna let them shoot
- 35:17Speaker 1: those again, and when they're not going to make enough. Well,
- 35:20Speaker 1: in the last four games, they're nineteen for fifty one
- 35:23Speaker 1: on threes those three which is not a terrible percentage,
- 35:26Speaker 1: but it ain't sixty five percent, which they needed to
- 35:30Speaker 1: storm back and win the first game with Smart and
- 35:34Speaker 1: White in particular, aren't going to make enough. They've they've
- 35:36Speaker 1: limited al but but four games five for eleven on threes.
- 35:44Speaker 1: They don't want him taking wide open threes because he'll
- 35:46Speaker 1: make them the other guys. They'll say, yeah, it's like,
- 35:49Speaker 1: you know, like Derek White was, you know, fifty five
- 35:53Speaker 1: for fifteen in four games. Again, thirty three percent on
- 35:57Speaker 1: threes is not terrible, but that's not gonna that's not
- 36:00Speaker 1: going to be enough to beat you, right, you know
- 36:02Speaker 1: when they go like a game like yesterday where how
- 36:07Speaker 1: many miss threes did they have before they finally hit one?
- 36:10Speaker 1: They missed the first twelve and then they made their
- 36:11Speaker 1: next point where you're just like praying for the mid
- 36:15Speaker 1: range jumper and you're just like please, because if the
- 36:19Speaker 1: team that has outscored their opponent in the paint during
- 36:23Speaker 1: this series has won every single game, and I guess
- 36:26Speaker 1: don't why they don't realize that during the game, just
- 36:30Speaker 1: like go to the hoop, you have the size advantage,
- 36:33Speaker 1: especially when Adoka finally is playing that double He had
- 36:37Speaker 1: that double big lineup with Rob and Al that came
- 36:40Speaker 1: out in the third quarter and instantly they ate the gap,
- 36:44Speaker 1: and it was Horford that I think hit that first
- 36:47Speaker 1: go ahead three yep, And you just would like to
- 36:51Speaker 1: see more of that style of play and just like
- 36:55Speaker 1: go to the hoop or well and pull back in. Exactly.
- 36:58Speaker 1: That's one major they have Rob Williams. It's like, you know,
- 37:02Speaker 1: I sort of went player for player and I think
- 37:04Speaker 1: it's pretty easy. Like Rob Williams is the one spot
- 37:07Speaker 1: that they're significantly better than Golden State in He's way
- 37:10Speaker 1: better than any big whether it's Draymond Green or Looney
- 37:13Speaker 1: whoever you want to say, is the the five for
- 37:17Speaker 1: Golden State. There's no comparison. Robert Williams is far superior.
- 37:21Speaker 1: That's the one spot that I hate the Celtics. He's
- 37:23Speaker 1: hobbled a little bit, he is he is, but he's
- 37:25Speaker 1: played really well. I think, such a presence. I mean,
- 37:28Speaker 1: you know, I joke about but discovering him this spring
- 37:31Speaker 1: for the first time, Like wow, this guy is just
- 37:33Speaker 1: such a monster in the middle and just has MICUs
- 37:36Speaker 1: like you're you're like your eight year old nephew who
- 37:38Speaker 1: just decided, you know, playing the finals. I'm gonna watch this.
- 37:41Speaker 1: What's this all about? Exactly? You heard of the Open
- 37:46Speaker 1: Timelord is that what they call Timelord is that who
- 37:48Speaker 1: that is? Yeah, and he's not joking. He has no idea.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Now I only know two things. What is it? What
- 37:54Speaker 1: do I know? I know? Sorry, Patriot's very specific and
- 37:57Speaker 1: a little bit of college hockey. You're gonna that's all
- 38:00Speaker 1: I'm good for, you know. And everybody gets on Marcus Smart,
- 38:05Speaker 1: but not everybody. I'm on an island. No, you're not
- 38:09Speaker 1: on an island of the year on his team. The
- 38:14Speaker 1: young kids. The young kids don't like Marcus Smart. They
- 38:17Speaker 1: think he's like a chaos. They think he's like a
- 38:20Speaker 1: tornado out there. I just think when he plays a
- 38:22Speaker 1: certain style, he's very effective. When he like last night
- 38:27Speaker 1: in the fourth quarter, when the offense is bogging down,
- 38:31Speaker 1: he thinks it needs to be me. I'm am his
- 38:35Speaker 1: biggest fan. But I will say that all of them
- 38:39Speaker 1: in general yesterday in the fourth quarter were really reverting
- 38:41Speaker 1: back to all those really bad habits they have, just
- 38:44Speaker 1: chucking up threes and it's it's frantic. They're not playing defense.
- 38:48Speaker 1: They're flopping and therefore not able to play defense because
- 38:51Speaker 1: they're falling to the ground. And like that was a
- 38:53Speaker 1: big issue I had with Marcus yesterday. I think he
- 38:56Speaker 1: typically gets more shade than he deserves because I think
- 39:00Speaker 1: he'll try to overcompensate when the team's not playing well
- 39:03Speaker 1: and when no one's shooting well, which we saw the
- 39:06Speaker 1: entire first half of the season. That's when he's like, Okay,
- 39:09Speaker 1: if no one's hitting it and I'm wide open, I'm
- 39:11Speaker 1: gonna shoot my shot and see what happens. And he
- 39:14Speaker 1: got a lot better at not doing that once if
- 39:18Speaker 1: you see, like the rest of his team started making shots,
- 39:20Speaker 1: Tatum and Jalen started actually scoring as a season progressed,
- 39:24Speaker 1: so he could fall back into that facilitator first role.
- 39:28Speaker 1: And then yesterday, I don't know what happened. They all
- 39:31Speaker 1: forgot how to play basketball in the fourth quarter and
- 39:33Speaker 1: it was just like, you're, very typical collapse that we
- 39:36Speaker 1: would have expected to see in November, except it's it's June.
- 39:39Speaker 1: I mean, did you think you thought they were past
- 39:41Speaker 1: this kind of stuff? Like did you think this year?
- 39:43Speaker 1: I mean, I know that this has been building where
- 39:46Speaker 1: we've been a young team, but now they're ready, Like
- 39:49Speaker 1: is that I predicted Celtics in six? Like was very
- 39:52Speaker 1: confident about that. I've watched the Celtics the last four
- 39:56Speaker 1: years play the Warriors really well, ever since Tatum's rookie
- 39:59Speaker 1: year and league. Um. I think going into this series,
- 40:03Speaker 1: ever since Tatum's been here, I think it's like two
- 40:06Speaker 1: and seven or seven and two, the Celtics have the advantage,
- 40:10Speaker 1: and I don't know. I was really confident and to
- 40:13Speaker 1: see them revert back to these old habits is just
- 40:16Speaker 1: so discouraging because I just had to sit and watch
- 40:19Speaker 1: through all these games, the first half of the second
- 40:21Speaker 1: and let's face it, if we were Warriors fans, you know,
- 40:24Speaker 1: which they're kind of like the modern days Patriots, and
- 40:27Speaker 1: you know we know its pages as well. You know,
- 40:29Speaker 1: we've got Belichick, well, they've got Kurr, We've got the experience.
- 40:33Speaker 1: You never count us out, you know, when it comes
- 40:35Speaker 1: down to it, we're gonna We're always a tough out.
- 40:38Speaker 1: And that's the way they are. You know. Steph Curry
- 40:41Speaker 1: is like taking Brady, you know, which I could deal
- 40:44Speaker 1: with if people analyze that. You know, in full disclosure,
- 40:47Speaker 1: I did the same thing that Alex did. I picked
- 40:49Speaker 1: the Celtics and six I was actually on as you know,
- 40:51Speaker 1: holiday fill in time on Memorial Day. That was my pick.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Celtics and six. But no one talks about Golden State
- 40:59Speaker 1: like that. They they talk about him like that. That's
- 41:01Speaker 1: the only thing they have is like this guile, like
- 41:04Speaker 1: they're getting by on like guts in in pedigree. Yeah,
- 41:08Speaker 1: they're good. See, people forget Clay Thompson was hurt. You
- 41:12Speaker 1: know now, if Clay Thompson was fatally healthy, first of all,
- 41:15Speaker 1: the series probably should already be over if not for
- 41:17Speaker 1: an epic collapsed by Golden State in the first game.
- 41:20Speaker 1: I know the Celtics shot out of their minds, but
- 41:22Speaker 1: I'm sorry. You gotta at home Game one with a
- 41:25Speaker 1: double digit lead in the fourth quarter. You got to
- 41:27Speaker 1: close that out right, and they didn't. They you know,
- 41:30Speaker 1: they're kicking themselves that this series is even still going.
- 41:33Speaker 1: But if Clay Clay Thompson is nothing compared to what
- 41:36Speaker 1: he was. He's a really good defensive player who at
- 41:39Speaker 1: times has looked awful defensively in this series. He can't move,
- 41:43Speaker 1: he's completely lost it. Yeah, now, maybe he'll get it
- 41:46Speaker 1: back next year when he's, you know, a little bit
- 41:48Speaker 1: more time removed from all of the injuries. But he
- 41:51Speaker 1: does not look good at all to me. Well, he's
- 41:53Speaker 1: starting to heat up a little bit. You know, he's
- 41:56Speaker 1: better than he was the other one game that they lost, Yeah,
- 41:58Speaker 1: the game three, that was the only game. But still,
- 42:00Speaker 1: especially when you like watch him on Jalen it's just
- 42:02Speaker 1: he doesn't have it and he's a good like he's
- 42:05Speaker 1: a good defensive playoffs and he was like, okay, so
- 42:08Speaker 1: let's take that. Okay, should Jalen Brown be doing better? Yes, yes,
- 42:13Speaker 1: you know, better than five for eighteen? Yeah right, something
- 42:16Speaker 1: like that. Duce what you have Brown last? Because he's
- 42:20Speaker 1: on the Celtics, because he had a couple of games
- 42:23Speaker 1: in the other series, like he was the man Jalen Brown. Yeah,
- 42:27Speaker 1: and he's had his moments in the finals. I mean,
- 42:28Speaker 1: he's the one that won the first game with the
- 42:31Speaker 1: way he started the fourth quarter. But he's also had
- 42:33Speaker 1: some like really like, Jalen, do you know how to
- 42:37Speaker 1: dribble a basketball? Like this is your rookie year. Handle
- 42:40Speaker 1: your brick hands. I call them brick hands. But yeah,
- 42:44Speaker 1: I just think like sometimes he thinks like no one
- 42:47Speaker 1: can take the ball away from me, like he underestimates
- 42:50Speaker 1: the defense. It's funny, you know. My perspective on this
- 42:52Speaker 1: is that they have these guys and each one kind
- 42:54Speaker 1: of takes turns being good and bad, like you're gonna
- 42:57Speaker 1: be sucking right now now it Tatum's good right now,
- 42:59Speaker 1: Brown is trying to dribble it through everybody and turning
- 43:02Speaker 1: it over like that that seems to embody it too,
- 43:04Speaker 1: like and that's why I think like they can never
- 43:07Speaker 1: really rely on the two Jays, Like the most important
- 43:10Speaker 1: thing that makes them this team go is your Horford
- 43:13Speaker 1: Smart and Throw Derek Whyden and and Rob. It's those
- 43:17Speaker 1: role players that as long as they are on, they
- 43:21Speaker 1: can get the Jays to Like what happened to the
- 43:26Speaker 1: was it theusy? Like he he contributed? Now he doesn't
- 43:32Speaker 1: even play. Yeah, I don't like. I don't think a
- 43:35Speaker 1: Dooga likes Tyce for some reason, but I think he
- 43:38Speaker 1: there's definitely a reason Brad brought him back. I thought
- 43:42Speaker 1: he plays really well. He's had some games where he
- 43:45Speaker 1: like contributed, which one was that early? Yeah, And to
- 43:50Speaker 1: be fair, like it's hard to just come in for
- 43:52Speaker 1: your first time playing and be lights out. But Tyce
- 43:56Speaker 1: has been an absolute impact player for the Celtics in
- 43:58Speaker 1: the past. Him and Tatum play great off each other. Um,
- 44:03Speaker 1: I don't know why they haven't used him as much
- 44:04Speaker 1: like I would have rather seen him trying to impact
- 44:07Speaker 1: games in Peyton Pritchard, I just think he can't hit
- 44:10Speaker 1: some shots. But lep out of bounds. Oh that's that
- 44:14Speaker 1: bugs me, you know, And I always think awareness the
- 44:17Speaker 1: referees blow those calls. I never think they're out of bounds,
- 44:19Speaker 1: you know, I know. But like, let's happened more than
- 44:21Speaker 1: once with him. You're right, Yeah, you're right. It happened
- 44:23Speaker 1: at least two or three times in the last two games. Yeah,
- 44:25Speaker 1: And what other job does Pritchard have. Yeah, he's not
- 44:29Speaker 1: on the corn right if he can't hit. But that's why,
- 44:31Speaker 1: like I agree with the DOCA taking him out. I mean,
- 44:34Speaker 1: five minutes he had three open threes. He missed them.
- 44:36Speaker 1: All all right, you go sit over there, because you're
- 44:38Speaker 1: of no value to us if you're not hitting open threes.
- 44:41Speaker 1: He can't play defense, And that's what they need to
- 44:43Speaker 1: get back to, is defense, Like they need to just
- 44:46Speaker 1: don't even worry about scoring. They did have that stress
- 44:48Speaker 1: defense first six minutes of the third quarter. I thought
- 44:51Speaker 1: was the best defense they've played in the whole series.
- 44:53Speaker 1: Because to me, I got to be honest with you,
- 44:55Speaker 1: when Golden State has struggled offensively. I just feel like
- 44:58Speaker 1: they missed open shots in the first x minutes the
- 45:00Speaker 1: third quarter, they weren't getting anything good. They were getting
- 45:03Speaker 1: smothered everywhere. They were overplaying the ball, doubling and trapping
- 45:07Speaker 1: it everywhere. But I think that's hard to sustain, and
- 45:09Speaker 1: obviously it was because they eventually got it back in
- 45:13Speaker 1: the last half. And then the brick at the buzzer was,
- 45:16Speaker 1: I know, it's you know, down two to up. One
- 45:19Speaker 1: doesn't see him like that big, but Jordan Pool, did
- 45:21Speaker 1: you see the you know, you know who Jordan Pool is, Mike,
- 45:24Speaker 1: that guy he shouldn't know who he is? Off the
- 45:31Speaker 1: glass um at the buzzer as the third quarter from
- 45:35Speaker 1: half court, after the Celtics had kind of come back
- 45:37Speaker 1: and the Cultics had, the Cultics are up to and
- 45:40Speaker 1: they end up they end up going into the fourth quarter.
- 45:42Speaker 1: After completely dominating the third quarter, they still end up
- 45:45Speaker 1: going into the fourth down even though it was only one.
- 45:48Speaker 1: Then Golden stayed open the fourth quarter on a ten
- 45:50Speaker 1: all run. All right, you got out of the game tomorrow.
- 45:52Speaker 1: Anyone got a ticket for me? Out there hustling? All right,

- 45:59Speaker 1: Lots of emails come in, We'll get to them right

- 55:06Speaker 1: now great moments in history Back in the day when
- 55:12Speaker 1: Eric was still a mediator, Right, we went to Arthur's
- 55:15Speaker 1: and wanted to get a steak well done, and I objected.
- 55:19Speaker 1: He did. I objected, He voiced an opposition that's ridiculous. Yes,
- 55:22Speaker 1: told the service that don't you dare, don't you dare?
- 55:25Speaker 1: Bring him a cooked steak about five minutes later. He
- 55:30Speaker 1: doesn't need a good cut, is what I'm saying. You
- 55:33Speaker 1: don't need to waste the money on someone who's gonna
- 55:36Speaker 1: have you all done. It's a waste of money because
- 55:39Speaker 1: you don't. It'll taste the same as what I'm saying.
- 55:42Speaker 1: He won't even know the difference. Of course, you know
- 55:43Speaker 1: the difference between cuts of meat. Not when you do
- 55:46Speaker 1: it well done, not when you cook it well done.
- 55:49Speaker 1: Just give him a hook. It loses all the flavoring.
- 55:52Speaker 1: It loses all its flavor on. That's another great moment

- 56:03Speaker 1: five past five hundred, taken outline web radio at patriots

- 56:11Speaker 1: you guys didn't hear the what do they call it?
- 56:15Speaker 1: The rejoin the rejoint? Yeah, yeah, I gotta check it
- 56:18Speaker 1: with him. Sew do you like your steaks? Cook? Alex
- 56:22Speaker 1: um medium rare, medium, rare plus. Okay, all right, we
- 56:26Speaker 1: had Eric, you know, Eric well done, And I was
- 56:31Speaker 1: back when he was eating meat, and I told him,
- 56:34Speaker 1: you're not allowed to sit at this table in order
- 56:36Speaker 1: a well done steak. It was do you ever sniff
- 56:39Speaker 1: the cork or the wine before you taste it? No good,
- 56:43Speaker 1: it's another all Eric weird, weird corky Eric King. Wow,
- 56:49Speaker 1: there's a lot of being. There's a lot of things
- 56:53Speaker 1: Eric claims to be. Um. In Eric's defense, there's a
- 56:57Speaker 1: lot of people who sniff the cork, but they don't
- 56:59Speaker 1: know what they're doing. Yeah, you know, I don't know what.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I could have no formal artistic training, we know. Yeah,
- 57:07Speaker 1: so yeah, yeah, anyway, how was the steak and cheese?
- 57:10Speaker 1: Pretty good? All right, pizza time, pizza time to live
- 57:13Speaker 1: another happy customer. Yeah, all right, let's get to some
- 57:17Speaker 1: of these emails that are coming in. Joe in Huntsville,
- 57:22Speaker 1: Alabama writes in Hello everyone. He says, maybe Jason Tatum
- 57:27Speaker 1: should stop watching Kobe highlights and modeling his game after
- 57:30Speaker 1: him and start watching some Kevin Garnette tape. That's what
- 57:33Speaker 1: his build and play play speed more resembles. Anyway, guy,
- 57:37Speaker 1: isn't Kobe, never will be, never was, And for the
- 57:40Speaker 1: love of God, keep your feet on the floor and
- 57:42Speaker 1: pass the ball without just giving it to the Warriors.
- 57:44Speaker 1: That's my thing, you know, Kevin Garnett. Yeah, it seems
- 57:50Speaker 1: I mean, I I understand why, but I don't really
- 57:53Speaker 1: not a lot of similarities between Tatum's game and Kevin
- 57:55Speaker 1: Garnett's game. An interesting point, though, I think that a
- 57:58Speaker 1: lot turned around for this team when they made them
- 58:01Speaker 1: watch kg's jersey retirement oh after that loss, because I
- 58:05Speaker 1: know Robert Williams was like tweeting like inspirational or something
- 58:09Speaker 1: right after that, and I think that they kind of
- 58:12Speaker 1: locked in after that. Well you talk about I mean,
- 58:14Speaker 1: you know, from my point of view of just how
- 58:16Speaker 1: up and down they've been, like a guy like Kevin
- 58:18Speaker 1: Garnett with that intensity, like that's like some kind of
- 58:21Speaker 1: protection against this kind of young team, A veteran who
- 58:26Speaker 1: understands the moment and how important every single second is.
- 58:31Speaker 1: And I mean maybe that, you know, maybe that's what
- 58:33Speaker 1: they're missing. I mean, was there some kind of discussion
- 58:34Speaker 1: of like we need that. I mean, I guess it's
- 58:36Speaker 1: all Al Horford in a way of having a veteran
- 58:39Speaker 1: presence like that, but there's no killer instinct. Yeah, like
- 58:42Speaker 1: KG would kill you before he lent to a loose ball. Yeah, yeah,
- 58:46Speaker 1: that's what I need, which which and I mean to
- 58:48Speaker 1: be fair though, like you know, for me coming into
- 58:50Speaker 1: the Celtics, Like, I'm like, this team plays defense, like
- 58:52Speaker 1: I just the energy that that you know when they're
- 58:54Speaker 1: good played the play defense. They played even the worst moment,
- 58:58Speaker 1: energy every I mean easy teams Like I think Grant
- 59:01Speaker 1: set a backscreen during one of the first wins and
- 59:05Speaker 1: dre it just it got called for a foul, but
- 59:07Speaker 1: Draymond went flying, and that's what you need. The problem
- 59:11Speaker 1: with Grant Williams he gets two fouls for just walking
- 59:14Speaker 1: on the court. Yeah, I mean it's not the one
- 59:17Speaker 1: they called him last night himself. He did kind of
- 59:22Speaker 1: push him before. He did not trip him at all.
- 59:25Speaker 1: There was no there was no it was like there
- 59:27Speaker 1: was but there was no crossing, there was no trip,
- 59:30Speaker 1: There are no no But I think he lost his
- 59:32Speaker 1: balance because he got pushed no way, and you could
- 59:35Speaker 1: see is the bigger problem with the boy is a
- 59:38Speaker 1: nutter lack of talent. But that's another dogum. Well except
- 59:41Speaker 1: for the last game against Miami where he was like
- 59:43Speaker 1: on fire Milwaukee but Milwaukee. Yeah, all season I just
- 59:47Speaker 1: waited for Grant to regress back to the mean. I
- 59:50Speaker 1: didn't think, yeah, he's finally happening, and I'm just like, no, please,
- 59:57Speaker 1: he's that guy though, like as a casual basketball f
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: and when you come in just from the playoffs and
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: you know who the stars are, but then there's always
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: like somebody coming off the bench that's a little spark plug.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: In every playoff run when it's kind of successful, you
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: have one of those guys who comes in and makes
- 1:00:10Speaker 1: those big shots and has an unexpected big game. I'm
- 1:00:13Speaker 1: forgetting who's some of the games Eddie House. That was
- 1:00:16Speaker 1: the one I was trying to think of. Eddie House.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: You know those guys who you've never heard of until
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: this and then all of a sudden he's like, you know,
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: plays a key role in a couple of games, and
- 1:00:25Speaker 1: Boston just loves him because that's you know, those those guys.
- 1:00:28Speaker 1: That's what happens. I mean, I don't care what sport
- 1:00:30Speaker 1: it is. Guys emerge and they have that game that
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: you know Aaron Boone, Uh you know Dent, Yeah, that
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: would dip in another territory. David Tyree, sorry football. Um.
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Chris with a T. I A. N writes in unbelievable
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: incredible Really, Paul busts out the stats for Celtics unfiltered.
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: Ask him what happened after Patriots lost and will tell
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: you they just didn't execute you, my friend. You know
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: that that is complete bs. He says, he's just kidding.
- 1:01:09Speaker 1: But good, good, Christian good. I mean I noticed on
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: the flip side of Paul's notebook from the notes he
- 1:01:15Speaker 1: was reading off was Patriots at Falcons, like from December. Oh,
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I don't know if it hasn't been used since then,
- 1:01:21Speaker 1: but it really is the first page of the notebook.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: So on the back of the first page was myself
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: the stats. There are three collective pages filled out in
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: that notebook. And just so you know, that's Browns at Patriots,
- 1:01:33Speaker 1: all right, I thought it is al Falcons. Tony Wright say,
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: so you know Mini campus in here too. If you
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: want to get more reasons that two spars. It's an
- 1:01:42Speaker 1: electronic age. You don't need the notebook anymore, you know,
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: I like to grow up. It's funny. Big Jim Murray
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: made fun of Dan Shaughnessy today because Shaughnessy wanted to
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: make a point, and to make the point he took
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: a picture. Well, first he took a page from the Globe,
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: a paragraph and outlined it with pen and then took
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: a picture of it. And Big Jim Murray's like, not
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: only is it a newspaper, he's outlining it in you know,
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: and pen to make the point. That's that's old school.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: That's how I have to you used to have to
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: do it. I gave him credit for knowing how to
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: use his camera phone. I mean, you know, hey, old
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: man River, Yeah, you mean outlines here if he to
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: read a lot of these guys to really navigate the
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: pandemic and like learning how to use technology to do
- 1:02:28Speaker 1: their jobs, Celtics not playing to the potential. You know,
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: Bob Craft sitting in the fresh after that fourth quarter
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: the first game, Who do talk to Celtics be pacient elimination? Yeah,
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: I can I mute myself on this zoom call here?
- 1:02:42Speaker 1: That's our friend. Does it really good? And then we
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: try to do you know, our version of Babe Ruce.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: She's turning over his grave. You know, well you miss
- 1:02:52Speaker 1: Eric though, that was the only thing Eric brought to
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: the table good in person. Maybe I can fill that seat.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: I had a decent Bruce Cassidy. Oh well but he's gone.
- 1:03:03Speaker 1: Now does that start with Yeah? We really needed to
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: save there. We could use more from Jelly Coil, Like
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: that's Bruce Cassidy every game. I can't think of my
- 1:03:15Speaker 1: like my ear now, like what he sounds. I sat
- 1:03:18Speaker 1: through a few of his press conferences. I guess that's
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: when it was. It was the zoom covering the Bruins
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: during zoom and just his voice every night, and the reporters, hey,
- 1:03:26Speaker 1: but you like it's just oh no, you got Joe Haggerty,
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: but has what are you in your living room? Like
- 1:03:34Speaker 1: you're on a call here? What are you doing? Buddies Joe,
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: I know my old buddy Jimmy Murphy would be like coach.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: I loved it, though I love I loved covering. It
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: was interesting to see how like the different teams navigated
- 1:03:47Speaker 1: zoom coverage and how different it was from team to team.
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: But the Bruins calls were always so pleasant. Bruce Cassidy
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: just good guy. I wish him well. Okay, so you
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: were on a lot of the different teams, call of them. Okay,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: Connecticut Son too, So did you have like good morning? Butch,
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: you know, thanks for thanks for doing this, Oh thank you.
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: Every single person on every single Patriots call had to
- 1:04:16Speaker 1: thank Bill Belichick and say good morning to him until
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: he said something back to them. Then they could then
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: ask a question. It was the most infuriating waste of
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: twenty seconds for every question. If you're the first person
- 1:04:28Speaker 1: on the call to ask a question, you say, hey, Alex,
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: how you do When you say I'm doing good, every
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: everybody after has to ask the same question. It's ridiculous,
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: nous Like he just told you know so and so
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: he's doing well, but everybody had to have that. Also,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: just curious and I'm just curious. I'm just curious. But
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: I'm just kind of curious, just curious. This movie isn't
- 1:04:51Speaker 1: the most important thing in the world, but I'm just curious.
- 1:04:53Speaker 1: I just I'm curious, and I'm just curious. I was
- 1:04:56Speaker 1: just curious. And that's that's a SAE. We we love
- 1:04:59Speaker 1: to make fun of the Really, you're just curious. You're
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: not writing a story, you're not trying to get him.
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: You're just curious. You know, that's why you're asking the question,
- 1:05:08Speaker 1: just out of curiosity, not because you know you need
- 1:05:11Speaker 1: to do anything with the information. Yeah, oh god, yeah
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: there we go, man, We'll be I always enjoyed listening Cassie.
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: I did a little bit of a blog work for them.
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: But but just he would tell you stuff, you know,
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: And I think that was what was interesting. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: I know, or like, is this the best thing to
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: be saying? But you know, somebody who loves well, I
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: think everybody kind of feels that way, right, I mean
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: I haven't really seen anybody come to the defense of
- 1:05:39Speaker 1: Cam Neely and Don Sweeney yet. I mean, as I
- 1:05:42Speaker 1: said to Paul, I'm like, it's these two guys who
- 1:05:44Speaker 1: never could quite get you a cup and now you're
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: kind of well, just seems like the knives were out there. Yeah,
- 1:05:49Speaker 1: you know, it was like a scapegoat, you know. Yeah,
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: And I think Bruce is an easy one when you
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: have like the Krug stuff. I think it was it
- 1:05:59Speaker 1: Krug last year. I forget who it was that had
- 1:06:02Speaker 1: left the team before this season and made some comments
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: about not really vibing with Well, he's the one that
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: said he wanted a trade, right, Yeah, No, he was
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: a free agent. Oh okay, yeah, yeah, he got megabucks.
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: But he might be he might have had things to
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: say that could be wrong. It's surprising the player that
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: didn't even play in the NHL and they went overseas
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: this year that was on the Bruins. I'm blanking it's
- 1:06:24Speaker 1: only been a few months. Yeah, crazy, Yeah he wanted
- 1:06:27Speaker 1: to go back home. Yeah, but now he might come back.
- 1:06:30Speaker 1: Oh yeah, I don't know. I'm not up to date
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: on my heart. Nothing. Nothing says rebuild like getting out
- 1:06:36Speaker 1: of the thirty eight year old senate, back from the
- 1:06:38Speaker 1: check Pro League. But we do like to make fun
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: of the me so we have our little pet peas
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: like but and zoom started it. You know, like if
- 1:06:46Speaker 1: you're sitting in the media work room and Bills up there,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: no one's like, hey Bill, how you doing? You just
- 1:06:50Speaker 1: ask your question? Yeah, and no no other Yeah, it's
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: not That's why I was asking if the other teams
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: did the same kind of stuff. Yeah, the Celtics. The
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: Celtics are pretty average. It's not really anything groundbreaking. The
- 1:07:02Speaker 1: Red Sox ones were awesome because Johnny Miller would start
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: every call everybody love Johnny. Before the calls would start,
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: it was just open, like you didn't need to be
- 1:07:11Speaker 1: unmuted by a moderator. So it was just like Johnny
- 1:07:15Speaker 1: run in a chat before Alex would come on to speak,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: and Johnny was just a gem. Who's Johnny Miller? W
- 1:07:22Speaker 1: BZ long long time A right? You really do tell
- 1:07:27Speaker 1: nothing about anything. I got in some Bruin's territory was second.
- 1:07:32Speaker 1: You know if you heard his choice, you might know
- 1:07:34Speaker 1: because he would come in every day, Hi, Alex, and
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: like he's got like, yeah, what is he has some
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: Affyeah I could be wrong, Okay, yeah, but I mean
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: just the best. I've never ever heard anybody say a
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: bad word about him. But he was great because he
- 1:07:53Speaker 1: would always ask like really tough questions. It'd be like,
- 1:07:57Speaker 1: you know, they'd be like one and two to start
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: the season. Uh, tito, is is this a must win?
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: The best question to be ever asked last year was
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: it was before Hunter Renfro started really playing well. Hunter
- 1:08:11Speaker 1: back in my day, betting ninth meant you're the worst
- 1:08:14Speaker 1: hitter on the key. How do you feel about betting ninth?
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: You can't say anything to him, it's you know, um
- 1:08:24Speaker 1: Tony writes it. I stand by what I wrote last week.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Jalen Brown thinks he's a great player. He's not. He's
- 1:08:31Speaker 1: a good player. Uh five for eighteen, oh for five
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: from the three five turnovers. Someone tell him when he
- 1:08:40Speaker 1: dribble drives one on three, a teammate will be open.
- 1:08:44Speaker 1: He'll make one spectacular one spectacular dribble drive and seven
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: stupid ones every game. And I love Marcus Smart. Do
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: we great point? Everything is correct? We might have had
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: something where we talked about Jalen Brown last week. I
- 1:09:00Speaker 1: don't remember turnovers. I don't remember m delving this this
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: far into something couldn't because I'm out of my depth
- 1:09:06Speaker 1: of that kind of situation. So now that we oh,
- 1:09:10Speaker 1: twelve thirty two says the book, he's got the minutes. Yeah, okay,
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: don't question the Bible. All right, Um, let's see Nathan
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: from northeast Pennsylvania writes in, since we're in the dog
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: days of summer and there isn't much Patriots news to discuss,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: can we get an update on the renovations taking place
- 1:09:29Speaker 1: a Gillette? How does it look? They're really plowing through it.
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: They really are working fast. Everything is down, that the
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: lighthouse is down, and the framing has already started to
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: connect from one side to the other. So I mean
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: they're they're going gangbusters on there. I mean it's a
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: whole construction site, but that who the north side of
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: the stadium is going to look like a brand new stadium. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: especially even just standing like in that little atrium next
- 1:09:54Speaker 1: to like the pro shop and stuff. I mean right there,
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: it's gonna you know, have a whole new kind of
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: look and feel to it on the glassland. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:10:01Speaker 1: look really really cool. I mean I guess it went
- 1:10:03Speaker 1: twenty twenty three. That's what it's supposed to be, Yeah,
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: for that part of it. But I mean it's it's
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: like everything. I mean, there's construction going on everywhere. I'm
- 1:10:11Speaker 1: always just amazed, Like you know, places you drive by
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: and then it's you can't get somebody to mow my lawn.
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: And they get like full construction crews working three shifts
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: right right, just tearing things down, Lighthouses falling to this ball,
- 1:10:23Speaker 1: I don't know, not using the app plows and most
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: actually I do have a good place that does my lawn. Well,
- 1:10:32Speaker 1: do they still have your every other? Do they still
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: have your snowblower that you gave them? And I got
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: that back. I got that back in the spring, just
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: in time, you know, for it to sit there and
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: not be ready for nextbody. It's gonna crap out now
- 1:10:43Speaker 1: before next year. I actually get a couple uses out
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: of it. This one. I'm rolling the dice this year.
- 1:10:47Speaker 1: I'm not getting it, you know the maintenance, No that
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: I usually do, so I just know the first storm
- 1:10:52Speaker 1: next year, get yourself a snow joe. Remember we were
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: intrigued by the snow joe. It's good for like one
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: inch of snow. It's good for the back deck. Guy,
- 1:11:00Speaker 1: but like, really I think it would be you can't
- 1:11:03Speaker 1: shovel it your deck out yourself. You need a contraption
- 1:11:06Speaker 1: to do that. It's hard, guy. That's what I usually
- 1:11:11Speaker 1: make will do. If it's if it's like he doesn't
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: do it the way I want to die. If it's
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: like those snow jos are no good to you anyway
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: when it's hard, those don't aren't any good. I got
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: no faith in that snow joe. Yeah, anything past four inches,
- 1:11:24Speaker 1: I didn't buy it. No, no, But we're always it
- 1:11:26Speaker 1: always comes up and we're all like, hmm, you know
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: that doesn't lookin might yeah, be too bad for the
- 1:11:33Speaker 1: back deck. Uh, let's see Nathan from Northeast. He also
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: says also Paul said that Fred pronounced Alex's name perfectly,
- 1:11:42Speaker 1: but it is her full name, Alexandra or Alexander. Because
- 1:11:46Speaker 1: I'm ninety nine percent. Fred mentioned introducer as Alexander, I
- 1:11:49Speaker 1: didn't I that did not go to Sandra. I always
- 1:11:54Speaker 1: listen to the last part because people always say Alexandria
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: and I hate oh Virginia. They add in a letter,
- 1:12:03Speaker 1: or they'll butcher Francisco and they'll think my first names
- 1:12:07Speaker 1: like Francesca or something like. People just don't read. Right.
- 1:12:11Speaker 1: We used to have a Paul Francisco that played for
- 1:12:13Speaker 1: the patient. She's got a future, She's got the edge
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: that I'm looking for. So yeah, you have to have
- 1:12:20Speaker 1: pet peeves here, pet peeves opinions, yea, and in thick skin.
- 1:12:25Speaker 1: That's the that's the other part. You have to have
- 1:12:26Speaker 1: thick skin, right, Like if you have any grammar pet
- 1:12:29Speaker 1: peeves like things that people say, this is the place
- 1:12:32Speaker 1: to talk about them. This is where we are all creepances. Okay,
- 1:12:35Speaker 1: so this is like my therapy session, right yeah, uh
- 1:12:40Speaker 1: Neil and New Brunswick. It's the dog days for football
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: for sure. Just like to say, alex has already made
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: me laugh out loud twice. I hope I can make
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: it a third time. Right, Um, I have nothing football
- 1:12:54Speaker 1: to say other than it was good to hear positive
- 1:12:56Speaker 1: reports about Mac. Let's just remember Mac is entering his
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: second pro season. That is the same point Brady took
- 1:13:03Speaker 1: over in OH one, which means nothing really other than
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: I still think we won't know the truth about Mac
- 1:13:08Speaker 1: for the next twenty four months. Wow, two more years.
- 1:13:11Speaker 1: We don't have that amount of time this time twenty
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: twenty four, that's when, well, you can have an honest
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: debate about him. I hope there is no debate and
- 1:13:19Speaker 1: we're all sold that he's the QB one for a decade.
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: I mean, I like the way that they're at least
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: saying it that it's not written in stone from above.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: But you better have an idea to year four. You
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: better have an idea. I mean obviously everything you have
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: to put it in context, as we always say. And
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: you know, if he never has the opportunity to be
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: in those clutch game big games, that's that'll be too bad.
- 1:13:45Speaker 1: I mean again, what do you mean if he doesn't
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: have any more opportunities to be in clutch games because
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: he had opportunities to be in clutch games last year? Okay,
- 1:13:54Speaker 1: playoff games are clutching, my I mean just yeah, I
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: know I have sometimes I have weird opinions due I
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: think playoff games are how we performed a lot of
- 1:14:02Speaker 1: close games Bachasm Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, But that's why
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: they call me the Great White Snart. But it's it's
- 1:14:07Speaker 1: the situational football that is important, and how does he
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: perform in those situations? Yeah, you know, because there's a
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: lot of quarterbacks in the league that can throw for
- 1:14:15Speaker 1: three hundred and fifty yards a game, form d yards
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: a game, they do it all the time. It's how
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: do you perform in pressure situations. That's where Brady. We
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: didn't need twenty four months to figure out if Brady
- 1:14:27Speaker 1: was a good quarterback. You knew you knew, you know,
- 1:14:31Speaker 1: And that's where I would disagree with that email. You know,
- 1:14:34Speaker 1: twenty four months means thirty six now because he's already
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: been here, you're entering year four. You better have an
- 1:14:39Speaker 1: idea he's the guy. Otherwise you're in like Cleveland territory
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: with Baker Mayfield, right Like, we're gonna do we give
- 1:14:46Speaker 1: him the if you if you're not sure you're going
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: to pick up that fifth year extension, you're in trouble. Yep. Yeah,
- 1:14:52Speaker 1: I just think let's see how he plays out this year,
- 1:14:55Speaker 1: and he's got a lot of options. There's a lot
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: of different kind of players, different weapons. I don't think
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: all these guys are going to be on the roster
- 1:15:01Speaker 1: between the wide receiver at the tight end, the running back,
- 1:15:04Speaker 1: that all that group. I don't know who's not going
- 1:15:06Speaker 1: to be here, but they feel heavy there right now.
- 1:15:09Speaker 1: I think he's got a great opportunity. I just think
- 1:15:11Speaker 1: the bottom line for me is that he's done everything
- 1:15:13Speaker 1: you could possibly ask from the kid. You know, is
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: a dedication. The way he's you know, taking the things
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: around here. I wouldn't want anybody else to do it
- 1:15:21Speaker 1: any other way. But we'll see, Like it just doesn't
- 1:15:23Speaker 1: necessarily mean that in those clutch situations that he's going
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: to be able to deliver. And I want him to
- 1:15:28Speaker 1: and I'm hoping that he can, but he's gonna have
- 1:15:29Speaker 1: to do it to really prove himself in you know.
- 1:15:32Speaker 1: But I think after this year, you're gonna know, you
- 1:15:34Speaker 1: might say, hey, we got to get him this kind
- 1:15:36Speaker 1: of player. Maybe we're talking about the slot receiver thing
- 1:15:38Speaker 1: again next year, or you know, real coordinate him. Yeah yeah, yeah,
- 1:15:44Speaker 1: Well that's that'll be built in excuse that's part of it.
- 1:15:47Speaker 1: You know, that's part of it. And you know how
- 1:15:49Speaker 1: much credit in success? Does does Mack get all the credit?
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: You know? Does does he get the majority of it? Who? Who? Who?
- 1:15:55Speaker 1: Who gets credit for a successful offensive season? Well, I
- 1:15:58Speaker 1: think we've watched enough football we'll know we'll be able
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: to see through the BS, right, Paul, So who got
- 1:16:06Speaker 1: it last year? Credit for what? The success? I think
- 1:16:11Speaker 1: Mac doesn't, and Josh had some too. I thought we
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: would be able to see through it, figure it out.
- 1:16:15Speaker 1: We were experienced watching that. So I just told you.
- 1:16:18Speaker 1: But I mean, so everybody gets to stop. But this
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: year is different. I mean, you know, like like Paul
- 1:16:23Speaker 1: said it, you know a lot of people, if Mac
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: has a down year, they're gonna blame it on the transition, right.
- 1:16:29Speaker 1: And that's why to your point about seeing it in
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: all seriousness last year, I would have credited more with
- 1:16:35Speaker 1: Josh because I think the games where they had the
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: most success where games where plays popped wide open and
- 1:16:42Speaker 1: like a lot of quick hitting stuff, and you could
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: look at it and say, great scheme whatever, you know,
- 1:16:48Speaker 1: great game planning, great execution, whatever it was. Now there
- 1:16:52Speaker 1: were times where and I always fall back on the
- 1:16:55Speaker 1: Cleveland game dues where there was a lot of tight
- 1:16:57Speaker 1: window throws too, so Max's not without credit. But I
- 1:17:00Speaker 1: think if I had to divide it up, yeah, be
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: a much bigger piece. I think. I think it was
- 1:17:05Speaker 1: a short leash last year with Mac. You know, I
- 1:17:08Speaker 1: don't think that that. I think this year, I think
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: it's time to lengthen that leash a little bit, you know,
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: and and open it up now. I just but people
- 1:17:18Speaker 1: who were saying, Oh, they're gonna be running a whole
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: new offense, I'll believe that when I see it. Yeah,
- 1:17:26Speaker 1: I just where you get it? Where are they getting
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: this unless some little unless, some little birdie is telling
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: them that we're going to have a new offense installed
- 1:17:33Speaker 1: this year. Like I said, I'll believe it when I
- 1:17:36Speaker 1: see it. Is it a new offense or is it
- 1:17:38Speaker 1: just a few of Kendrick's comments at a charity golf
- 1:17:41Speaker 1: tournament being like wildly taken out of context and blown
- 1:17:45Speaker 1: out of proportion. Well, I think that's what we don't know.
- 1:17:47Speaker 1: I think is every year. Yeah, I was sitting next
- 1:17:50Speaker 1: to Kendrick when he made those comments at that tournament,
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: and I left thinking nothing of it. And I got
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: back to my car and to see Twitter, and she
- 1:17:58Speaker 1: really can be one of us. How might you know,
- 1:18:00Speaker 1: we come from a press conference that we're all at
- 1:18:02Speaker 1: and you're like reading, I didn't read. I didn't. I
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: didn't hear that that way at all. Right, you know, yeah,
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: maybe that's why I worked for the team instead of
- 1:18:10Speaker 1: one of the real it becomes, it takes on a
- 1:18:12Speaker 1: life of its own and each year, how many how
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: much tweaks do they make to the offense? You know,
- 1:18:17Speaker 1: I think terminology and I heard they're installing a new offense. Yeah,
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: well that's ridiculous. No one's really said that. I mean,
- 1:18:25Speaker 1: like in my no one in quotes. Okay, okay, because
- 1:18:29Speaker 1: I heard it, because Reese wrote the original thing that
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: Alex was talking about off because I think Mike was
- 1:18:34Speaker 1: talking to Mike came to the tournament and Mike was
- 1:18:37Speaker 1: just sitting in the It was called Kendrick in the cart.
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: It was like they're in the golf cart and just
- 1:18:42Speaker 1: a few like softball questions. It wasn't anything, and and
- 1:18:45Speaker 1: then it was a little side comment, do you have
- 1:18:47Speaker 1: the common pot? No? No, I remember you telling me though.
- 1:18:50Speaker 1: It was like learning terminology or loosens up first. He
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: loosens you up first with it with a little personal
- 1:18:56Speaker 1: question and then in my last one and then he
- 1:18:58Speaker 1: gets that last one in of some kind of a
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: little bit of football. But I just I wanted to
- 1:19:02Speaker 1: bring up Breer who wrote about it yesterday, which is,
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: you know, saying that they were kind of detangling it
- 1:19:07Speaker 1: from Brady. You know, I just think logically, it's not
- 1:19:10Speaker 1: all that crazy. Like Josh left, Josh certainly had a
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: shorthand with the offense and the way that he liked
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: to coach it. So I mean, I think some change
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: was inevitable, But I'm with you talking about the changing
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: the whole offense that that's not Can I just tell
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: you this is just my opinion and this is not
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: fact by any means. This is all about the coaches.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: You have two guys that have never done the offense
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: and Joe Judge and Mapet. That's why it's even a question.
- 1:19:34Speaker 1: That's why they have to do something different because they
- 1:19:36Speaker 1: don't know it at that level. They have to go
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: back to one on one. Yeah, they know no other way, right,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: And I but it's the same offense, you know. Yeah,
- 1:19:45Speaker 1: But I think they have streamlined things, as they've said,
- 1:19:48Speaker 1: and they've they've all admitted when they've been asked questions
- 1:19:50Speaker 1: is some of the terminology is different and in some
- 1:19:53Speaker 1: of the that, but I think that the schemes and
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: the ideas that they want to do are all the same. Yep.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: And based on what we saw my right, Yeah, the
- 1:20:01Speaker 1: concepts and all that stuff, same kinds of plays that
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: we've we're used to seeing, you know, the combination routes
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: and the natural rubs quote unquote picks and whatnot. Those
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: are big staples of all NFL offenses. But the Patriots
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: have used though as extensive, right, And I just feel like,
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: and I said this a couple of weeks ago, I
- 1:20:18Speaker 1: think that's why Ivan Fiers is still around. I think
- 1:20:20Speaker 1: Ivan Fiers is helping Matt Patricia and Joe Judge learn
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: the offense. You know, one guys spent predominant ented almost
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: entire time on offense on defense, and the other guy
- 1:20:31Speaker 1: was almost all of his time on special teams. They
- 1:20:34Speaker 1: don't know the offense well enough to help. That's why
- 1:20:36Speaker 1: Mac Jones has been so heavily involved with the receivers
- 1:20:40Speaker 1: breaking down the actual routes and whatnot, because he probably
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: knows it better than the coaches do. Right, But that
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: kind of proves the point if it wasn't a continuation
- 1:20:49Speaker 1: of last year. Mac wouldn't be able to do that
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: with the receivers because he'd be learning it too. It's
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: it's obviously a continuation of stuff that he learned last year.
- 1:20:58Speaker 1: And to this point, you changed terminology every year. You
- 1:21:01Speaker 1: assume that they're listening to what we say at the
- 1:21:05Speaker 1: line of scrimmage and elsewhere, and you always, you know,
- 1:21:08Speaker 1: change your terminology a little bit. I mean, not to
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: the extent that they did it to Cam Newton, the
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: poor guy, but but you know, you know, you do
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: change your terminology from year to year and sometimes even
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: from week to week, you know, if if it's necessary.
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: But I'm telling you Mac Jones is and all of
- 1:21:27Speaker 1: a sudden going to become Lamar Jackson. He's not gonna
- 1:21:29Speaker 1: be running around, you know, naked bootlegs and all that stuff.
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: It's still gonna be a drop back, quarterback type of offense. Um.
- 1:21:38Speaker 1: You know, there might be some option, you know, a
- 1:21:41Speaker 1: little bit more option than they've had in the past,
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: but you know, it's it's we're not going to open
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: up week one. Oh my god, I don't even recognize
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: this offense. It's not gonna happen yeah, and I think
- 1:21:53Speaker 1: you made a good point about him, you know, being
- 1:21:55Speaker 1: a little bit protected last year. I mean, I think
- 1:21:56Speaker 1: in the Tampa game, you know, like Alex brought up,
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: you know, having that opportunity to let him go for it,
- 1:22:01Speaker 1: and it was funny rewatching that game and it was
- 1:22:03Speaker 1: like I went through it all again and I'm like
- 1:22:05Speaker 1: he was playing good, Like let them go for it,
- 1:22:06Speaker 1: you know, like I had the same kind of reaction
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: as I did. So maybe they'll make those decisions. I mean,
- 1:22:12Speaker 1: I also do kind of agree with Paul's point that
- 1:22:15Speaker 1: some of the plays that we saw in Mini camp
- 1:22:17Speaker 1: were by design to say, hey, this is what we're doing.
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: You know, Hey, you guys have been talking about the
- 1:22:21Speaker 1: deep ball. Here's a play to trade. You know, let's
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: those things seem like they were I'm glad you just
- 1:22:26Speaker 1: brought that up because you know, forget about Randy Moss.
- 1:22:28Speaker 1: But when Brandon Cooks came in, Okay, Cooks is a
- 1:22:31Speaker 1: fast guy, Let's use that speed. And whether it was
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: actually catching the ball or drawing a pass interference, we
- 1:22:38Speaker 1: saw more of that stretch play than we had the
- 1:22:41Speaker 1: year before. Brandon what Cooks was here? But that's normal
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: that's good coaching. We got a guy who can beat
- 1:22:46Speaker 1: the guy, let's use it. But I'm also going to say, like,
- 1:22:50Speaker 1: I think there's a chance that they're vastly improved in
- 1:22:53Speaker 1: the deep passing game just because of his experience, Like
- 1:22:56Speaker 1: he was really bad down the field last year. I mean,
- 1:22:58Speaker 1: the numbers spoke themselves. That doesn't necessarily mean they're gonna
- 1:23:02Speaker 1: be incorporating more deep balls into the offense, like the
- 1:23:06Speaker 1: offense is changing, they're gonna be doing. No. I think
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: it means that they could be better at it, which
- 1:23:12Speaker 1: was what Mike Reese rode over this weekend. Um, you know,
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: because he had all the numbers downfield last year which
- 1:23:17Speaker 1: were all abysmal, you know, on balls throwing twenty yards
- 1:23:21Speaker 1: or more. Blah blah blah blah blah, catchable rate, the
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: win right, win weight, the win rate for the wide receivers.
- 1:23:29Speaker 1: That's a tough one for me. Win rate for the
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: wide receivers. Yeah, it was like twenty eight or something
- 1:23:35Speaker 1: like that, you know, And that's like establishing more than
- 1:23:38Speaker 1: a yard of separation, like not asking for a whole
- 1:23:41Speaker 1: lot on a deep ball. You know, on a fifty
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: yard pass, you should be opened by more than that,
- 1:23:46Speaker 1: and they weren't consistently open. He was wasn't consistently accurate
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: throwing it. It wasn't a big part of the game.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: I think that they'll probably be better at it, just
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: because Mac Jones has more experience. Ye, and the same
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: goes for Nelson Aguilar in any of those deep targets
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: and Parker, I mean, that's Parker's thing. Parker, you know,
- 1:24:03Speaker 1: throw him some some fifty fifty balls. I mean that's
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: you know, maybe a little bit asking a little bit much,
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: but that's what he does. You know, we saw it
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: in minicamp yep uh spiin Fresno. Welcome Alex. Any word
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: on why Dan Daniel lay Quality probably should have added
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: that Patriots it's suspended for the first two games now,
- 1:24:24Speaker 1: but probably so it's not peed because that's more than
- 1:24:27Speaker 1: two games if you get caught with that, right, I
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: believe so, Yeah, But I don't know. I didn't see
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: anything other than field Yates's original tweet. I mean, kind
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: of a roster bubble guy anyway that this might you know,
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: I mean, these are those weird situations though, where like
- 1:24:42Speaker 1: it's kind of a good thing for the player because
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: he can make the team and not caught cost the
- 1:24:46Speaker 1: roster spot. So if they're even thinking about it, just
- 1:24:49Speaker 1: keep him around for a couple of weeks. Anyway, saw
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: the new terrible Jurassic World movie. At this point, I've
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: seen some bad I've seen some bad things. Who was, um,
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: it wasn't born one of our Adrian Phillips. I think so, Yeah,
- 1:25:01Speaker 1: he said. The only reason, like we didn't walk out
- 1:25:05Speaker 1: because we were laughing so hard. And how much money
- 1:25:07Speaker 1: we spent on this terrible movie? Yeah? Which is it?
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: Looked good? I was. I guess I'm tapped out. Anyway.
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: I think the first one with Chris Pratt. But once
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: you start making too many movies, this is like the
- 1:25:21Speaker 1: sixth one, right, Yeah, I was by. I think I
- 1:25:24Speaker 1: saw two of them and I liked it. I like
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: the original. I liked the first one was awesome. Anyway,
- 1:25:29Speaker 1: Not only was the movie bad, but my schmuck friend
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: got tickets in the first row and it was in
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: four D X. In addition to catuitous use of three D,
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: the chair jostled around and pounded in your back, hair
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: blow was implanted in the seat, puffed against your head
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: and feet, Flashing lights scented vapors. It's the most gimmicky
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: and distracting movie it's experienced forty X. It's like all
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: this stuff going unique and maybe kids would like it,
- 1:25:58Speaker 1: but the cinema industry is over compensating for the advent
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: of the home theater. I like that the lobby has
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: a bar now, but it's twenty twenty two and still
- 1:26:06Speaker 1: take fifteen minutes to get through the popcorn line. Be better, yeah,
- 1:26:10Speaker 1: peep better. Yeah, it's like our thing. We talked about
- 1:26:13Speaker 1: a couple of weeks ago. Get the Disney movies, put
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: them in the theater. We'd be there. Actually, you were
- 1:26:18Speaker 1: out that day. I think Matt, we we had that.
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: That was the day. I think you're out. We had
- 1:26:21Speaker 1: a whole conversation about what do you think. I don't
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: listen back to the show. Oh you do minutes Calvin
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: Coolidge Theater in Brookline they always play old movies. Yeah,
- 1:26:32Speaker 1: well it's the Coolidge Yeah Coolidge Corner, Coolidge Corner. Yeah no,
- 1:26:36Speaker 1: I don't think it is it named after Calvin Coolidge.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: I thought I just think Calvin Coolidge, that was yeah corner.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: I thought she was learning me something. For a second.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: I was like, oh, I didn't know that A lot
- 1:26:46Speaker 1: of cool that's a good airage corner Brookline. I used
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: to live there in coolest corner down down a ways
- 1:26:53Speaker 1: by Cleveland Circle. Yeah yeah, well I say in between, oh,
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: in between, I would say, yeah, do you ever go
- 1:26:58Speaker 1: to Peanuts Cleveland Circle, the good steak and cheese, don't
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: think so? No, to Anthony's, to Anthony's And then they
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: had the what's it city? What's it? The other bar there?
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: Our house? No, no, next to no, not not in
- 1:27:12Speaker 1: Cleveland Circle, the big one with the balcony. Yeah, city squares,
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: City Square. I have been there. Yeah. I had a
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: good night there. I had a bad night there. Gold
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: slag are all together why, I don't know. Doing shots.
- 1:27:27Speaker 1: It was awful. I literally gunther. I literally kicked a
- 1:27:32Speaker 1: guy out of the bathroom because I had a just go,
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: go go. I opened the doors and get out. Never
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: been sicker. Yeah, oh my god. Yeah. And I was
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: supposed to play golf the next day and they came
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: to get me and I was like, no way, what
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: a gold schager and yeager myster that always like that's
- 1:27:49Speaker 1: like you're right in the family of like it's one
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: of those nights and like you don't say no to
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: that stuff for some reason, like they always kind of
- 1:27:55Speaker 1: get piggyback together. You're like, what am I doing? Awful? Um,
- 1:28:00Speaker 1: let's see a stick at hotline eight five five past
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: five hundred. Eldred's in North Carolina. What's up Eldred? Hey, fellows, ladies,
- 1:28:08Speaker 1: how y'all doing good? What's up? I'm disappointed them Celtics,
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: But Paul, I got to disagree with you on some
- 1:28:15Speaker 1: of that man, some of them that was a legitimate file,
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: but they never got him. You know, but we always
- 1:28:21Speaker 1: get what are we talking about? Celtics and the Warriors. Oh,
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: it's a it's a it's a flop fast on. Both
- 1:28:28Speaker 1: teams should be ashamed of socer. Really, both teams should
- 1:28:32Speaker 1: be ashamed of themselves the amount of times they've thrown
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: themselves on the floor for no reason. With Jordan Poole
- 1:28:36Speaker 1: didn't even get hit last night. He threw his head
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: back like Marcus Smart. Yeah, after Marcus Smart's arm. That's
- 1:28:45Speaker 1: what I'm talking about. That's what I'm saying. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: and then you know what called in the back and
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: then uh, I think Wheels got got the file. I'm like,
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: you gotta be kidding me. Yeah, but they did. Yeah,
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: you know, I don't blame the stuff we've been upset,
- 1:28:58Speaker 1: but I'm with you, Fred. They're a little bit young.
- 1:29:00Speaker 1: They don't have that kills yet, you know. But Golden
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: State they did like the Patriots. They've been one didn't
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: want what about three or four with with Urry and
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: Thompson and all and Green. So so they like the
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: veteran croop so they know what to do. So let
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: me ask you something. If we're using this Patriots comparison,
- 1:29:18Speaker 1: because I think it's a pretty good one. Yeah, would
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: you say the Patriots? I don't know, forget old one,
- 1:29:26Speaker 1: because I think everybody would agree that the Rams from
- 1:29:28Speaker 1: more talented the Patriots, and no one right in any
- 1:29:30Speaker 1: of the other Super Bowls, you think the other team
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: was substantially more talented than the Patriots. No, So why
- 1:29:36Speaker 1: are we saying that both the Celtics they're substantially more
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: talented than than Golden State. I don't know. I don't know. Man,
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: Curry carries another beat. I know Curry Curry is Brady
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: in this in this analogy. Yeah. Yeah, and then Pool,
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: then Pool, Like I said, Pool with the number three guys,
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: So you know, if he gives hearted moments, he had
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: to even play like. That's the other thing everybody tells
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: me about all the bench dominance that the Celtics have.
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: Golden State has guys who been playing better than the
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: Celtics off the bench too, like and Pool has been
- 1:30:11Speaker 1: kind of awful, but he's still contributed more than Grant
- 1:30:14Speaker 1: Williams and your boy pritcher Man. He's been a non factor.
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: They pulled together the nixt time they played, and then
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: you know, we don't get sweat four two. I just
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: hope they make it three three, and then at the
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: last game fight it out. Well, yeah, I think they will.
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: I think they're gonna win this game. I really do.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: I'd be stunned if they lose Thursday night. Really, if
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: the Celtics, I won't be stunned. But I really think
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: they're gonna win it. But I don't know if I
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: can handle a Sunday night and no come in, I
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: won't have anybody to talk to you, because all right, Aldred,
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: thanks for the call. Eldred drives a truck, so when
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: he calls an he gives us the beep and one
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: time I think he caused a major accident and No,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Eldred Um hates all patriots wide receivers, thinks they don't
- 1:31:02Speaker 1: have any good ones. Moss right was the one since
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: Randy Moss. Uh, and he always thinks the secondary is
- 1:31:07Speaker 1: and in need of an overhaul. He calls it the
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: secondary right there. Yeah, but he's he's he's one of
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: actually Eldrid Aldred which we called him Eldridge for years,
- 1:31:21Speaker 1: fifteen years. Yeah, and then he finally corrected us. Uh.
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: Justin and Alabama writes in Let's talk about music, says
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: last Thursday show, towards the end, you all got into
- 1:31:32Speaker 1: a little music discussion, and it got me thinking. Since
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: we already have something in common, such as we are
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: patriots and fans and tend to agree with Mike Paul,
- 1:31:43Speaker 1: I like to see where we are musically. I grew
- 1:31:46Speaker 1: up on my parents music and not to make Fred
- 1:31:48Speaker 1: and Paul sound old, but I think you guys listened
- 1:31:51Speaker 1: to the same music my parents did. So here we go,
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: all right, trivial, No, it's just I think it's just opinion.
- 1:31:59Speaker 1: What did you like at Doobie Brothers before or after
- 1:32:02Speaker 1: Michael McDonald? Oh? Before, No, with Michael McDonald, is that before?
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: I don't know, like I love Michael McDonald. Yeah, I
- 1:32:11Speaker 1: had no opinion on this. I mean I liked the
- 1:32:14Speaker 1: Doobie Brothers' Greatest Hit album. That was like a good album,
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: you know, But I would say, what's happening episode where
- 1:32:20Speaker 1: they had to go to the Dewey Brothers concert and
- 1:32:22Speaker 1: they they made him try to tape it and they
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: got in trouble. No, they were getting arrested. I did
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: not see that. Um, who's better of this? Toucher and
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Richard and this one's easy, this one's easy. Who's the
- 1:32:32Speaker 1: better van Halen line up? David Lee Roth or Sammy
- 1:32:35Speaker 1: Hay David Lee rof course, And I like Sammy Hagar,
- 1:32:38Speaker 1: but David David Lee Roth was better. Your parents would
- 1:32:42Speaker 1: That's like I was in like high school. Oh no,
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: I went to I went to a Van Halen concert
- 1:32:50Speaker 1: where they were the opening act for the Rolling Stones. Wow.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: I mean it was awesome. Crushed by a bike fence,
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: it was. It was the start me up album for
- 1:32:59Speaker 1: the Star. Yeah. So it at the Tangerine Bowl in Florida.
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: It was unbelievable. Between acts, it was like Jacksonville. I
- 1:33:08Speaker 1: don't know where it was. Between acts, it was the
- 1:33:11Speaker 1: It was the biggest trash fight I've ever seen, Like
- 1:33:14Speaker 1: people throwing garbage at each other, like the whole stadium.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: It was like a war zone. It was the best ever.
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: It was the best thing. I remember that more than
- 1:33:22Speaker 1: the contest. Yeah, my concert daser long gone. Who got
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: their start as Linda Ronstat's band? Who got their start
- 1:33:34Speaker 1: as Linda before Paul the Eagle? Really before? A just
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: ideas that will know the because I know music. What
- 1:33:47Speaker 1: I know a little bit of older music? Okay music?
- 1:33:51Speaker 1: Who was Dylan? A great documentary on the Eagles, And
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: that's the only reason why I knew that. Who was
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: Dylan's band when he went electric? Oh? The band? The
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: band is correct though? Yeah? And finally, who was the
- 1:34:05Speaker 1: studio band on Michael Jackson's album Thriller? Well, Eddie Van
- 1:34:10Speaker 1: Halen did guitar on beat It. I couldn't tell you
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: anything else. Yeah, Toto was the studio BANDA did not
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: know that. Last, but not least, I'd like to welcome
- 1:34:21Speaker 1: the newest addition to pu Alex with a question, can
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: you name a popular female singer from the decade you
- 1:34:29Speaker 1: were born in Atlantis? Morrisset? Wow, Okay, that's big that's
- 1:34:37Speaker 1: a big one. That's a big one, right there. I
- 1:34:40Speaker 1: love like Fleetwood Mac. I really do like older music.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: I just mean, yeah, see the like to me in
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: my childhood, like even before, and Van Halen would be
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: like right in my wheelhouse high school. I think Fleetwood
- 1:34:57Speaker 1: Mac was great. But all you need is the Rumors
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: album and that's all you need, no tusk. Yeah, there's
- 1:35:03Speaker 1: a few, a few songs on other albums. But if
- 1:35:06Speaker 1: you get Rumors and you get like one of their
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: greatest hits, lives. Yeah. I really really liked Stevie Nicks
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: and I liked so much stuff too. I don't really
- 1:35:14Speaker 1: like and well I do, but just if it's not
- 1:35:17Speaker 1: Stevie era, like Leather and Lace, right, tremendous, all right?
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: Right right? Uh? Leather and Lace was a good song,
- 1:35:25Speaker 1: um Age of seventeen. It's a good song stand back,
- 1:35:30Speaker 1: a little cheesy, but a good song like that raspy
- 1:35:34Speaker 1: plan she was great. Might might just be one of
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Moost Paul things. Let's get back to the Ace ticket
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: hut line, John's and Ducksburry. What's up? John? Stop dragging
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: my everybody? Um Paul, Please don't call Jason Tay and
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: one of the time best players in the league. I'm
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: gonna be ill if I hear that one more time.
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: He isn't one of the Tampa players in the league. Okay,
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: I mean, can he not be playing? As? Can he
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: not be playing? Had a bad game and he had
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: twenty seven points. He's a good player, Fred, he was
- 1:36:12Speaker 1: a minus thirteen. He shot three year balls. He shot
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: two p six from the three throw line. That wasn't
- 1:36:18Speaker 1: a good game. Yeah, but we also can't really saying
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: he had a bad game and he cannot give actual
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: credence to plus or minus ratings for a single game.
- 1:36:26Speaker 1: I agree, But why does everybody in the media have
- 1:36:28Speaker 1: to do it? Yeah, it's ridiculous. He's having a good show. Fred,
- 1:36:34Speaker 1: your family hired someone with talent and Paul, I want
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: to ask you, did you down at the camp? Yes,
- 1:36:43Speaker 1: I haven't heard any talk about that. The god they
- 1:36:46Speaker 1: got from the Canadian Football League. He was with the
- 1:36:49Speaker 1: second group. I will say that, Um, he was playing
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: guard um with the second group with Yeah, I think
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: he was playing left guard. Yeah. Okay, And what free
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: agents do you think I have a chance of possibly
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: making the team? If any I mean undrafted free agent,
- 1:37:09Speaker 1: undrafted free agents. The who's the Texas guy with the hair,
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Brennan Schooler, him and another linebacker guy. They were doing
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: a lot of special Marcus s Mitchell Is that him?
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: This is where I need Dust to tell me what
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: I'm thinking? Yeah, yeah, tell me. Yeah. But usually, like
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: like we've noticed undrafted free agents, it's like, Wow, that
- 1:37:31Speaker 1: guy's popping. But usually it comes in training camp when
- 1:37:35Speaker 1: you realize, oh, this guy has a shot. Yeah, and
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: that was a lineman. It's hard to I'm looking at
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: more of special teams type guys, and those guys were
- 1:37:43Speaker 1: working with Slater and Bethel. Yeah yeah, I mean if
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: there was a cornerback on the roster that was kind
- 1:37:48Speaker 1: of around the ball like Jack Jones was, I mean,
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: those are the kind of guys that stand out a
- 1:37:51Speaker 1: little bit in these kind of camps. You might think
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: Jack Jones was Malcolm Butler. Yeah, like he was around
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: the ball a lot, you know, and you were like, whoa, yeah,
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: but Jack Jones was a fourth thrown pick. One other
- 1:38:04Speaker 1: question do you think he's got a Jack Jones is
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: how many games do you think he's gonna live for? One? Five? Yeah,
- 1:38:10Speaker 1: they're small, Yeah, that's a that's a that's a good question.
- 1:38:14Speaker 1: I mean he's Chris Jones, Jack Jones and Taekwon Thornton
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: or all worrisome in terms of their size. Yeah. I
- 1:38:19Speaker 1: mean when I think to that, I think of the
- 1:38:21Speaker 1: Shawn Jackson. Know, talented, but you know he could never
- 1:38:25Speaker 1: stay in the field. Yeah, and that's I mean, you
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: gotta tackle to a cornerback. It's not like you just
- 1:38:28Speaker 1: run down the field. I mean, I think Jack Jones
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: is a little bit more striking to me in terms
- 1:38:32Speaker 1: of how kind of skinny he was. Marcus Jones, although
- 1:38:36Speaker 1: he didn't really do anything and he's got shoulder issues, Like,
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: he seemed a little bit thicker and stout, and I
- 1:38:40Speaker 1: think he would play inside. But I mean it seems
- 1:38:42Speaker 1: like Jack Jones is on the outside, and I mean
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: he is small for that spot. But again, he just
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: seems like he has instincts. So can he overcome the
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: size thing with anticipation? Right, have a good weekend, everybody, Okay,
- 1:38:55Speaker 1: thanks ja John. During the draft, John threatened to jump
- 1:38:58Speaker 1: off a bridge just so you know, Fred Fred's safe
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: to life. Yeah, so we had they were gonna draft
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: a guard. What is that what he called it? If
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: they draft a guard I'm gonna jump up, and Fred
- 1:39:09Speaker 1: was like, you don't want to do that. Talk to
- 1:39:11Speaker 1: him off the luge and then makes a cold stranger
- 1:39:15Speaker 1: and we were like, oh no, go back, close off
- 1:39:20Speaker 1: Optimistic River Bridge through uh Todds to North Carolina, Hate
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: todd Since this seems to be in Anything Goes show,
- 1:39:28Speaker 1: I want to pick the brain of Deuce, people like
- 1:39:34Speaker 1: Vin Diesel, Stephen Colbert, Joe Manganello. How many nerds are
- 1:39:37Speaker 1: there really in and about that whole Hollywood scene and
- 1:39:42Speaker 1: are you one? What do you mean nerds? What do
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: you mean nerds? Well, you know kind of Fred, you know,
- 1:39:46Speaker 1: like things are a little different Star Wars stuff like that,
- 1:39:49Speaker 1: kind of everybody. Fred is as far away from a
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: nerd as I can think. I'm a nerd. So you're
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: a Star Wars nerd, but you're but you're into like no,
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: but I'm into everywhere. I love science fiction, I love everything.
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: The nerds are everywhere, The nerds are everywhere to be
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: ned now, yeah, yeah it is, yeah, Yeah, there's I'm
- 1:40:08Speaker 1: gonna want to be nerd. I'm not cool. Look at
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: my Look at my T shirt today, I'm wearing an
- 1:40:12Speaker 1: Abbey Road Star Wars t shirt cool cool with stains on.
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: It can't believe I defended this guy with stains. You
- 1:40:21Speaker 1: don't understand the nerd from Paul, And that's okay because
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: we need some of you to kind of come around nerd.
- 1:40:26Speaker 1: It's about herds. Yeah, and Deuce is not a nerd,
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: by the way. We asked. We asked Paul. We asked
- 1:40:33Speaker 1: Paul what does he consider the greatest invention of the
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: last five hundred years? And he said the remote control
- 1:40:39Speaker 1: for the TV, not the TV. So that that tells
- 1:40:42Speaker 1: you if your ability I thought it'd be married with
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: childer response and you say, you know, the toilet or something.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: All right, yeah, all right, Um, let's go to Christian
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: in La. What's up Christian? Hey, same thing as always, guys,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: just getting back watching and listening and having some fun
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: this morning. So thank you guys. So what you do,
- 1:41:07Speaker 1: you're always entertaining and at least you take the edge
- 1:41:09Speaker 1: off when the day he's not going that grace, So
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: thank you for you do. There you go, thank you
- 1:41:14Speaker 1: for listening. Yeah, you're welcome. You're welcome onto onto football. So, um,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: when Mini camps starts, right, is there sort of a
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: a pre set up? Um? Rotation lap these guys because
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: they're new. Do they start hearing these guys started hearing
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: these guys starts there, or do they try to get everyone?
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: So this year's idea of a game plan like what
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: we're trying to do. But how does that work in
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: specifically in Mini camp? Yeah, well, like when you get
- 1:41:42Speaker 1: to Mini camps training position. Yeah, No, I mean I
- 1:41:49Speaker 1: I think that there's usually a pretty clear demarcation of
- 1:41:52Speaker 1: the guys that are in the mix with the starters, um,
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: even when they're not playing, they're kind of watching that side,
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: and then they have the rookies and the new guys
- 1:42:02Speaker 1: and the unproven guys, and and even some of the
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: veterans you know, like maybe at James Ferns or somebody
- 1:42:06Speaker 1: who has been around a little while. So yeah, I
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: mean I think that's one thing, and you can take
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: it from Mini camp too. You can kind of see
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: the guys that are in the mix getting a chance
- 1:42:14Speaker 1: with the starters and guys who are kind of in
- 1:42:16Speaker 1: the I don't want to say remedial, but the guys
- 1:42:18Speaker 1: who are still learning it on. It fascinates. Yeah, I
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: think it's fair to say that, like if a guy
- 1:42:23Speaker 1: doesn't get his opportunities in training camp, he never really
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: right And it fascinates me how, you know, to answer
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: Christian's question directly, they start their first day that we
- 1:42:33Speaker 1: see practice, they have like, as an example, Cole Strange
- 1:42:37Speaker 1: is at left guard right like sight Unseen has just
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: gotten here. He's like the very definition of plug and play.
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: And you know, you might have another guy like Ronnie
- 1:42:48Speaker 1: Perkins last year who never got any chances to do
- 1:42:51Speaker 1: that with any of the frontline guys. And I just
- 1:42:54Speaker 1: I'm fascinated by that process. So what could they do
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: behind the scenes to earn not and and throw mcgron
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: in that mix. I think mcgrone's a great guy to
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: bring up because all offseason people kind of considered him
- 1:43:08Speaker 1: the great hope at linebacker and he's in the learning group.
- 1:43:11Speaker 1: You know, he's not really in that mix at this point. Um,
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: But again it's hard, you know, like how does like
- 1:43:16Speaker 1: what what is Sam Roberts, a defensive lineman going to
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: do in mini camps? I mean where they are you know,
- 1:43:24Speaker 1: like even if they're just out there, you know what
- 1:43:27Speaker 1: I mean? Like why you know, why one guy and
- 1:43:30Speaker 1: not another? Why not just smart? More rotation? You see
- 1:43:34Speaker 1: a lot of rotation in the secondary generally, like you'll
- 1:43:37Speaker 1: see a lot like Jack Joe, usually Jones, you know,
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler, Terrence Mitchell. By the way, Malcolm Butler, I've
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: read something by Bernard about maybe not wanting to buy
- 1:43:46Speaker 1: green bananas. Oh really, Yeah, we knew that was a possibility. Yeah,
- 1:43:53Speaker 1: And so god, I guess my question looking, you know,
- 1:44:00Speaker 1: he gets the report from the guy who's working with
- 1:44:02Speaker 1: running back and this guy says, hey, Brumby gave a
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: you know, this guy a few more arrest tomorrow. Who's
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: in charge of each of those effectives? And it is
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: upfully Bill that have to make all those decisions on
- 1:44:13Speaker 1: I'm sure it's collaborative and what we're talking about right now.
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: I'm sure Bill does lean on his position coaches for
- 1:44:19Speaker 1: that type of stuff. But he I mean, there's also
- 1:44:21Speaker 1: videotape every single practice too, So if he wants to
- 1:44:23Speaker 1: go back and look at stuff, was evaluating the talent. Yeah,
- 1:44:26Speaker 1: but it's but you know the I mean, and I
- 1:44:28Speaker 1: think this kind of goes to the organization and we
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: talk about offensive coordination and all that stuff. And I
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: mean another thing that I thought the oh nine documentary
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: was good. It's just showing behind the scenes of here's
- 1:44:38Speaker 1: the table. You know, they go around the room each guy,
- 1:44:41Speaker 1: I mean even not just the Patriots too, like the
- 1:44:43Speaker 1: you know, hard Knocks. I think you get a good
- 1:44:45Speaker 1: sample of all right, the running back coach now is
- 1:44:47Speaker 1: going to run down that his group and where he
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: thinks every guy's at. And yeah, it's the head coach
- 1:44:52Speaker 1: to get through all that and push what buttons he
- 1:44:55Speaker 1: needs to to get. But I think the organization's always
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: that was good in the nine documentary. I saw you.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: You were listening attently, and then you took a note,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: and then he was probably using this very same Nope. Uh,
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: let's go to Dreg in North Carolina. Hey, Dreg, Hey, guys,
- 1:45:13Speaker 1: I mention Star Wars earlier any of you show, of course,
- 1:45:18Speaker 1: I am Are you kidding me? Oh yeah, oh yeah,
- 1:45:21Speaker 1: I do cosplay when I watch it. I do. I'm
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: it's a it's maybe a little right now, a little
- 1:45:31Speaker 1: too campy. I'm not I'm not in love with the
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: little girl who plays Leia. She's not good enough. Yeah,
- 1:45:39Speaker 1: I would never like complain and say it's terrible. Um,
- 1:45:42Speaker 1: but I don't like it as much as I liked
- 1:45:43Speaker 1: Mandalorian yeah, which I really thought captured everything. There's moments
- 1:45:47Speaker 1: and there's certainly great moments in this too. Curious how
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: it ends, how they wrap it up. I mean, I
- 1:45:52Speaker 1: I'll give it a solid A minus. It's just great
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: to be back in that world, you know. Um, but
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: like yeah, but so I love watching it, but I
- 1:46:02Speaker 1: have some issues. Yeah. And then my football thing was,
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: I haven't heard you guys talk about Damien Harris that much.
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: Do you guys think were signed him? We talked about
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: him a lot last week. M Damien Harris. Yeah, Um,
- 1:46:19Speaker 1: there's a you know, I think he could be a
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: surprise cut. I think he got on that list trade
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: yeah or trade right, he won't get cut? Yeah, but yeah,
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: I don't think yeah, surprise trade probably. I do think
- 1:46:32Speaker 1: that that he'll be here, And I like I said
- 1:46:36Speaker 1: that last week. I like that combination of Stevenson and Harris.
- 1:46:39Speaker 1: I think them together is a good solid backfield. I'm
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: not sure one of them by themselves would be as effective.
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: But Kevin Harris could have something to say about that,
- 1:46:48Speaker 1: because I do think he has that that size and
- 1:46:51Speaker 1: that profile. Don't you think he kind of fits that
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: shorts and stuff? Yeah? But I mean there's a lot
- 1:46:56Speaker 1: of bodies at running back, and I mean, unfortunately, I
- 1:46:59Speaker 1: hate to bring this up, but like what makes Damien
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: Harris special to earn a second contract as a running
- 1:47:04Speaker 1: back with this team? Like it's hard enough for anybody
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: to get a second contract with them at that position,
- 1:47:09Speaker 1: especially and at that position, especially where they already seemed
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: to be one step ahead with the two guys that
- 1:47:14Speaker 1: they brought it. Yeah, I mean we thought we have
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: you know, and Montgomery. I mean just thanks driving the
- 1:47:19Speaker 1: mix too, you know. Yeah, I mean we loved Harris
- 1:47:22Speaker 1: and then Stevenson came. Now we love Stevenson, and now
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: we got these new guys. Harris is here. It's it's
- 1:47:27Speaker 1: it's kind of weird because in like one regard, I
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: feel like Damian Harris is really kind of emerged as
- 1:47:33Speaker 1: one of the real faces of this new generation of
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: the Patriots. But I also think that that could be
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: a bad thing as far as you know, he's showing
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: up at every celt probably on purpose, you know, is
- 1:47:46Speaker 1: that something that they're like, yep, all right, you're you're
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: you're the you know, the media guy now and now
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: you're out and we'll just turn it over to Stevenson
- 1:47:53Speaker 1: and Strong and you know, I mean, honestly, I just
- 1:47:55Speaker 1: think it's a question of does it happen in August
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: or does it happen in March. Yeah, let's go to
- 1:48:01Speaker 1: William and Phillham. What's up, William? What's going on? Good? Okay?
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: All right? Yeah, I were just speaking about Damis Damien Harris. Yeah.
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: I'm a fan though, And at the same time, just
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: like why everybody want Damie has to be traded. It's
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: nothing wrong, and it's the it's the all season. This
- 1:48:24Speaker 1: is his time to do what he wanted to do.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: So if he wants to be and you know, to
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: stop his game or he can see him everywhere. I mean,
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: it's the off season. I mean it's time. I mean
- 1:48:34Speaker 1: you te him because it ain't no, no, no, no,
- 1:48:36Speaker 1: anybody that would be looking to trade him. And I
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: don't know that anybody quote unquote wants to trade him,
- 1:48:41Speaker 1: but they're wondering. He's entering the last year of his contract.
- 1:48:45Speaker 1: Last year at this time, Sony Michelle was entering the
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: last year of his contract, they felt like they had
- 1:48:50Speaker 1: enough depth in the backfield and they traded him. And
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: I think people are looking at the two out great.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: They had a great running game last year with Stevenson
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: and Damien Harris. They didn't miss Sony Michelle at all.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: And I think if you look at what as you
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: often say, Fred that I taught you, watch what they do,
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: ignore what they say. They drafted two running backs in
- 1:49:11Speaker 1: the middle of the draft after trading and running back
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: going into his last year of his contract a year ago.
- 1:49:17Speaker 1: So people are connecting the dots. I don't think anybody
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: has any um problems with the fact that he goes
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: to see Alex might look to see if she can
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: go with him. I went to the Bruins with him
- 1:49:26Speaker 1: and matt him up. I want to go. Let me
- 1:49:29Speaker 1: know if you have the plug he needs a TikTok.
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: I had one more question and um the name like,
- 1:49:37Speaker 1: uh yeah, okay, So I want okay. So I see
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: everybody want him to put on weak and what if
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: that dimensions speed? Then that's right, that makes a question.
- 1:49:50Speaker 1: The way he just spit you know what I mean,
- 1:49:52Speaker 1: that's just plane and that's what he's talked about, you know,
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: trying to put on some muscle, not necessarily bulk, but
- 1:49:58Speaker 1: getting stronger. That's what he talked about in the last
- 1:50:01Speaker 1: day of or the first day of mini camp. I think, yeah,
- 1:50:04Speaker 1: one of them, maybe it might have been. I don't
- 1:50:06Speaker 1: think it's gonna be noticeable. I don't think he has
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: the frame to handle it. I mean, just be what
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: you are. Be what you are. You're tall and skinny,
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: but your fastest. Hell, so use him in that regard.
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: It's just a question of how well can he hold up,
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: can he go over the middle, can he take those hits?
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: And it's protecting yourself. It's like when you go over
- 1:50:22Speaker 1: the middle, knowing when to get down, you know, like
- 1:50:24Speaker 1: what's his name, Branch, You catch the ball and like
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: just before the guy was about to put his helmet
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: and he just collapsed down to the grounds. An art form,
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: and the young guys don't really understand it, and a
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: lot of times they get injured and then their careers
- 1:50:37Speaker 1: is screwed. But I mean the veterans, they seem to,
- 1:50:39Speaker 1: you know, get out of balance. You don't need to
- 1:50:40Speaker 1: take an extra hit. But I mean, I I just
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: want some spot duty for Thornton this year. A couple
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: plays here and there, you know, maybe you can get
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: him twenty to thirty catches. Maybe makes a couple big
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: plays and gets you some excitement for going into a
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: second season. Thanks William. You know who was a great
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: at like never taking a straight on hit and he
- 1:50:59Speaker 1: was a running back was Curtis Martin. Like he always
- 1:51:02Speaker 1: managed to like not ever get hit straight on, you know,
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: which is weird because he's a big guy, like kind
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: of long, like he wasn't a short little water bug
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: that would jump out of the way like Barry Sers,
- 1:51:13Speaker 1: just like he just moved his shoulder or you know,
- 1:51:15Speaker 1: NESTI lasted a long time, you know, like Emmett Smith.
- 1:51:18Speaker 1: I mean, I know they're different but similar. Emmett Smith
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: never really seemed to take take it. It's it's a
- 1:51:23Speaker 1: good it's a good comp ye great running backs. Um
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: Dan in New Hampshire has a question for German fans,
- 1:51:32Speaker 1: fans of Germans or German fans anyway. I love Germans.
- 1:51:36Speaker 1: Hey everyone, I have a somewhat non football related question.
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: My friend is stationed in Germany right now and he
- 1:51:42Speaker 1: told me on Sundays everyone has to keep quiet because
- 1:51:45Speaker 1: it's a family day. So my question is, is my
- 1:51:48Speaker 1: friend a messing with me or be telling the truth?
- 1:51:51Speaker 1: But then what if you're if you scream or cheer
- 1:51:54Speaker 1: for your team. Oh wow, I think I don't think
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: that that's a thing. It's gonna Germany. Never been to Germany,
- 1:52:02Speaker 1: so big Sundays everyone's football teams. Like, don't they'll be
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: too loud though, quiet quiet, um um, just eat your Schnitzland.
- 1:52:13Speaker 1: Shut up. No, I I it could be. You know,
- 1:52:15Speaker 1: like there's a lot of people in the United States
- 1:52:18Speaker 1: on Sundays a day of rest, and you know, I
- 1:52:21Speaker 1: was just thinking of that. Yeah, I had, like Sunday
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: dinners were a big deal, and you know my Italian
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: house and I just can't even imagine like Sunday dinners quiet,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, like shut up, yeah, just you and
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: your the loudest part of the week, right, yeah, especially
- 1:52:39Speaker 1: before when my grandparents were still alive. You know, it's
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: one of those houses, you know, we all lived to
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: generational sure, there was seven of us. My grandmother used
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: to the dinner is ready, shut up, get over, shut
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: up and eat. What was what was your going out?
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: What was your favorite your favorite of those meals? Yeah?
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: Yeah with me to them right, No, god, no, that's
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: not a raviolis what please stop the kota. Yeah, meat,
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: Ravioli's the only way to go. Oh God, you put
- 1:53:09Speaker 1: ketchup on him too. No, you put sauce on it though,
- 1:53:12Speaker 1: by ragu whatever. I'm sorry we didn't have like, you know,
- 1:53:16Speaker 1: homemade sauce. For every embarrass He's gonna ask you about
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: the gravy. But you don't like meat ravioli? No, what's
- 1:53:22Speaker 1: wrong with it? It's not ravioli, matt or a thousand
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: percent ravioli is gonna have cheese cheese only. Wow. I
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: will allow you to call it sauce, although it bothers me.
- 1:53:35Speaker 1: You'll allow it's it's not gravy. It's gravy. I'll allow
- 1:53:38Speaker 1: you to call it sauce, definitely, But don't give me
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: the meat. Don't give me the meat ravioli. Oh, come on,
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: I take a short voli all day? Can you Italiortuguese?
- 1:53:48Speaker 1: I think you said that already, didn't You bad listening
- 1:53:52Speaker 1: by me? Jack writes in he says, As explained in
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: Stephen Johnson's superb book Extra Life, the toilet was one
- 1:54:00Speaker 1: of the most important inventions in the history of human health.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: The toilet caused huge improvements in public health by removing
- 1:54:06Speaker 1: human waste that is a culture for disease, causing microbes.
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: Historical data shows that in the neighborhoods that first could
- 1:54:15Speaker 1: afford to have toilets, life expected expectancy grew by ten years. Okay,
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: it's crazy to think about people like not even that
- 1:54:25Speaker 1: long ago in the context of human history, like we
- 1:54:28Speaker 1: weren't brushing our teeth like at the beginning of the nine.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: But the funny thing is the toilet extended life for
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: ten years. The remote control decreased life for ten years. Station. Yes,
- 1:54:40Speaker 1: why are you so getting fixated on the remote control?
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: Because you told me you're a wizard with it. I
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: told you I was a wizard. I told you I
- 1:54:47Speaker 1: don't watch commercials. Right, you never said I'm a wizarow
- 1:54:50Speaker 1: You're like hitting a button does not make want a wizard.
- 1:54:53Speaker 1: You are? You are a remote control. I don't watch commercials,
- 1:54:55Speaker 1: I know, and you're very and every once in a
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: while that burns me because I missed something and I
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: don't get back in time to whatever. I was very
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: desert with the misfinal jeopardy. See now now I kind
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: of run an know the story of when Paul first
- 1:55:08Speaker 1: used to talk talk into remote which I find amazing
- 1:55:11Speaker 1: love that I don't even know what. I use that
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: only for things that I completely don't know what station
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: they're on, or like streaming. If I want something on Netflix,
- 1:55:20Speaker 1: I'll just you know, that's the way I'll open it. Yeah.
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: I love it because you need it now. You need
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: it for that stuff. You need it for all your
- 1:55:27Speaker 1: streaming coming. Everybody has like nineteen streaming services now right right,
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: you can't remember right in Prime and HBO, Max and
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: Netflix and you go to strange of things. It's not
- 1:55:36Speaker 1: a number, it's not a number. It's Anthony Wright. Don't
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: have that. But that was good. Thirty dollars a month,
- 1:55:46Speaker 1: that's good. It's more people. Do you have any episodes
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: of The Mad Fishermen available in that? Perhaps you know what?
- 1:55:52Speaker 1: They don't have on enough, Charlie Moore. They need a
- 1:55:54Speaker 1: lot more of that every episode. Um Anthony writes in
- 1:55:59Speaker 1: I agree with Paul, she probably likes. I agree with Paul.
- 1:56:04Speaker 1: I agree with Paul and Ravioli only cheese inside. But
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: Paul responds that meat sauce is acceptable. Correct, Oh, yes,
- 1:56:11Speaker 1: meat sauce. Oh you can deliver, yes, But I told
- 1:56:15Speaker 1: you it's not it's just sauce. You can call it gravy.
- 1:56:19Speaker 1: First of all, yeah, yeah, absolutely, Yeah, it's not meat gravy. Yeah,
- 1:56:25Speaker 1: you're talking about a different thing that no, I'm talking
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: about saying, yes, it's a different thing. But yes, that's
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: perfectly accepted. I don't mind if you call it sauce.
- 1:56:35Speaker 1: I don't. I call it gravy, but I understand that
- 1:56:37Speaker 1: a lot of people don't. Anthony says, I'll never call
- 1:56:40Speaker 1: it gravy because I'm a civilized Tuscan. But the sauce
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: must have meat. Oh yeah, I would agree with that.
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: Why do you call it gravy. It's just it's an
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: old it's an old school Italian thing. Listen, We've had
- 1:56:56Speaker 1: enough Italian people tell you Fred that they all it's stubborn.
- 1:57:00Speaker 1: Eric was the same Garoppolo was the same she as
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: we got Jimmy Garoppolo involved in this conversation once. Anthony's
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: from Tuscany, Toscana. Yeah, that's so, that's what he calls it.
- 1:57:10Speaker 1: He calls it sauce. Right, So why are you from Tuscanna.
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: You're from Everett Evelino. But okay, so he knows anyway,
- 1:57:21Speaker 1: you know, Tony Soprano is from Yeah, I was just
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: gonna say that, and I told you that I have
- 1:57:27Speaker 1: no problem if you call it sauce, you like it
- 1:57:30Speaker 1: the sauce? Do you like it the sauce? To me,
- 1:57:33Speaker 1: it's like barbecue sauce, so like you know Berne's and
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: gravy is like its own thing though. That's why. So
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: in Portuguese we have a word called moyu. There's no
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: I don't know if there's an English translation, but it's
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: basically like the marinade that the meat is cooked in
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: that you then keep for the flavor, and it's the
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: moyu as you right, But it's like at the same
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: time kind of like can be a sauce or can
- 1:57:58Speaker 1: be whatever. But so, I guess is the word. To me,
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: gravy is an extract of other things and you put
- 1:58:05Speaker 1: flour in it and you make gravy and all that. Right, sauces, sauce. Yeah, again,
- 1:58:11Speaker 1: I'm not arguing with you. That's what you call it sauce.
- 1:58:14Speaker 1: I call it gravy, just like the brown stuff that
- 1:58:17Speaker 1: I put on roast beef. That's that's gravy I have.
- 1:58:20Speaker 1: I have. There's a lot of different words in the
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: English language that mean two different I would never have
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: mashed potatoes and sauce. I'd have mashed potatoes and gravy. Right,
- 1:58:28Speaker 1: it's gravy, gravy. I agree. Um, let's see Dan in
- 1:58:34Speaker 1: Michigan and from Virginia. Given that Paul's love of gays
- 1:58:37Speaker 1: and boys is well documented, that's Adam Gays and Josh Boys.
- 1:58:41Speaker 1: It's surprising that he doesn't like other guys working on
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: his decks. Really like that one. So you know, now,
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: it's just to give I know we're running short on time,
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: but just to give you a quick background. You know,
- 1:58:59Speaker 1: before everything was was deemed offensive and inappropriate. I used
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: to intentionally say I like boys when they drafted Josh
- 1:59:08Speaker 1: Boys obviously, you know, tongue in cheek. And we had
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: Andy Hart here with that pearl likes boys, and I go, yes,
- 1:59:15Speaker 1: I do like boys. And Adam Gase when he first
- 1:59:18Speaker 1: was the coach of Miami, I think, um, it was
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: pretty good. It's very first year. I like gays, I
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: like Gase, I like boys, and it stuck. That was
- 1:59:28Speaker 1: like what ten twelve years ago. Yeah, but now you
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: can't say stuff like that anymore. Well, this apparently made
- 1:59:34Speaker 1: it through cancel cultures. Yeah, yeah, it's only we had
- 1:59:38Speaker 1: to have We had to put a disclaimer disclaimer on
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: the front of every show because we did have some calls.
- 1:59:44Speaker 1: Oh um, I don't think on that, because I think
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: everybody knew I was talking about it boys, but it
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: was about me. Really. Yeah. It was a religious guy
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: called the front office. Oh I remember when you yeah,
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: and then no, I don't know what it was star.
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: So the guy was told, if you don't like it,
- 2:00:01Speaker 1: don't listen. Yeah. Yeah, so hen he listens every day.
