- 0:10SPEAKER_00: I've got a new mystery for you today, and I can't wait for you to solve it.
- 0:15SPEAKER_00: Listen closely, clue by clue, solve the mystery.
- 0:19SPEAKER_00: Who are you?
- 0:20SPEAKER_00: Welcome back to Mystery Mirror, a Jewish guessing game for kids.
- 0:24SPEAKER_00: I'm sorry from that Jewish moment, and in each episode of Mystery Mirror, you will become a mystery person, place, or thing from the Jewish world.
- 0:35SPEAKER_00: I'll give you clues in three rounds.
- 0:37SPEAKER_00: Round one, tricky clues, round two, getting closer, and round three, almost there.
- 0:44SPEAKER_00: Your mission is to guess who or what you are before the big reveal at the end.
- 0:50SPEAKER_00: Are you ready to look in the mystery mirror?
- 0:54SPEAKER_00: Alright detectives, let's begin.
- 0:59SPEAKER_00: Round one, you are a thing.
- 1:03SPEAKER_00: You can sit in one place for a very long time, and you can help people without ever leaving your spot.
- 1:11SPEAKER_00: You might be colorful, plain, fancy, you might even be homemade, and you could be made from cardboard, metal, wood, plastic, or other materials.
- 1:23SPEAKER_00: You can hold something that doesn't really belong to you.
- 1:28SPEAKER_00: Do you know what you are yet?
- 1:33SPEAKER_00: Round two.
- 1:35SPEAKER_00: You are a kind of container.
- 1:38SPEAKER_00: If someone shakes you when you're empty, you are silent, but if someone shakes you when you're somewhat full, you make a lot of noise.
- 1:48SPEAKER_00: You might be opened when someone is ready to use what's inside you to do a mitzvah.
- 1:54SPEAKER_00: Now, do you have any idea of what you could be?
- 2:00SPEAKER_00: Round three.
- 2:02SPEAKER_00: You can be very valuable even if you are very small.
- 2:06SPEAKER_00: You can usually be opened at the bottom, but you also have a little opening at the top.
- 2:12SPEAKER_00: You might make a little noise when something drops inside of you, and you might have Hebrew letters written on you.
- 2:20SPEAKER_00: You help people remember to give to others, and your job is to collect money.
- 2:28SPEAKER_00: Now do you know what you are?
- 2:30SPEAKER_00: Are you ready for the reveal?
- 2:33SPEAKER_00: Look in the mirror.
- 2:35SPEAKER_00: You are it's a ducca box.
- 2:41SPEAKER_00: Mosle tove, mystery solved.
- 2:47SPEAKER_00: Did you know a dime is smaller than a nickel, even though it is worth double?
- 2:55SPEAKER_00: And the word dollar comes from an old German word for a type of coin called a taler.
- 3:02SPEAKER_00: Even though we call them paper money, American bills aren't actually made from paper, they're made from a blend of cotton and linen.
- 3:11SPEAKER_00: And did you know the Hebrew word tzedaka is related to the Hebrew word tzedek, which means righteousness, doing what's right.
- 3:22SPEAKER_00: Did you know that giving tzedaka is a big mitzvah even if you only give a little bit?
- 3:29SPEAKER_00: It's really good to practice being a giver, even when you can only give a small amount.
- 3:35SPEAKER_00: Did you know a tsedaka box is sometimes called a pushka?
- 3:40SPEAKER_00: That is a Yiddish word for a charity box.
- 3:44SPEAKER_00: And some families put coins in a tsudaka box every day, some do it before Shabbat or on special occasions, and Jewish teachings tell us about different levels of giving tzidaka.
- 3:58SPEAKER_00: And one really helpful and important way to lend a hand is to give someone tools they need to help themselves.
- 4:08SPEAKER_00: So let's say teaching someone how to do a job so that they can earn money.
- 4:14SPEAKER_00: And even though it's great to put money in the Tedaka box, you don't actually need a box.
- 4:19SPEAKER_00: You can just give the money to an organization or someone who needs it.
- 4:26SPEAKER_00: Get ready for game time.
- 4:29SPEAKER_00: Let's play Finish the Pattern.
- 4:32SPEAKER_00: I'm going to name a few coins and bills that you might put in a Tsadaka box, and your job is to figure out what comes next in the pattern.
- 4:39SPEAKER_00: Ready?
- 4:40SPEAKER_00: Listen carefully.
- 4:41SPEAKER_00: Round one.
- 4:43SPEAKER_00: Penny.

- 5:27SPEAKER_00: Nickel.
- 5:34SPEAKER_00: And now it's time for your mystery mirror mission.
- 5:39SPEAKER_00: Your mission is to find a way to collect tsadaka by doing something you love.
- 5:45SPEAKER_00: Do you love baking?
- 5:46SPEAKER_00: Maybe you could bake cookies and sell them to family and friends.
- 5:51SPEAKER_00: Or do you love art?
- 5:53SPEAKER_00: You can create a beautiful picture and sell it.
- 5:56SPEAKER_00: And then take the money that you earn and donate it to an organization that helps people.
- 6:02SPEAKER_00: Ask a grown up to help you plan your project, and please let me know what you come up with.
- 6:09SPEAKER_00: Ask a grown up to send it to mirror at thatjewishmoment.com.
- 6:14SPEAKER_00: Thanks for listening.
- 6:16SPEAKER_00: Until next time.
- 6:19SPEAKER_00: Keep your minds sharp, detectives.
