- 0:11Hello, friends. Oh, it's Shawn.
- 0:16Here. And it's Yvonne, too.
- 0:18Happy Friday. Wow, apparently when you're here
- 0:22I'm just looking for you to do all the heavy lifting.
- 0:26It is indeed Friday. It's the 27th of February, the
- 0:292nd last day of the month. And what is the important thing
- 0:33that is happening today? Today is my last day.
- 0:36After more than 10 years of getting dressed and going to my
- 0:41hospital, it's the last day there.
- 0:44Wow. It's the end of an era, but an
- 0:47exciting new chapter awaits. Yeah, right.
- 0:50And when I say my hospital, it's not actually my hospital, but
- 0:53it's where I've gone to work for a long time.
- 0:54So yeah, big changes, new things, great opportunities in
- 0:58ministry. So cool.
- 1:00I am dead set excited. Yep, that's it, and I'm excited
- 1:04to get stuck into some proverbs today.
- 1:06OK, let's do just that. We are continuing on our
- 1:10Proverbs journey through the year, and today we're continuing
- 1:14reading through Proverbs 21 Reading chapter 19 to 24.
- 1:30It's better to live alone in the desert than with a quarrelsome,
- 1:34complaining wife. The wise have wealth and luxury,
- 1:41but fools spend whatever they get.
- 1:45However, pursues righteousness and unfailing love will find
- 1:49life, righteousness and honour. The wise conquer the city of the
- 1:54strong and level the fortress in which they trust.
- 2:00Watch your tongue and keep your mouth shut and you will stay out
- 2:04of trouble. Mockers are proud and haughty.
- 2:09They act with boundless arrogance.
- 2:14And again. It's better to live alone in the
- 2:18desert than with a quarrelsome, complaining wife.
- 2:25The wise have wealth and luxury, but fools spend whatever they
- 2:28get. Whoever pursues righteousness
- 2:32and unfailing love will find life, righteousness and honour.
- 2:38The wise conquer the city of the strong and level the fortress in
- 2:42which they trust. Watch your tongue and keep your
- 2:47mouth shut and you will stay out of trouble.
- 2:51Mockers are proud and haughty. They act with boundless
- 2:56arrogance. Well, there's a few gems in
- 3:09there today. You know how much I love the
- 3:11verses about the quarrelsome complaining wives.
- 3:14I love the look of disdain you gave the Bible as you had to
- 3:17read that. Do you know, I'm sure there's
- 3:21something in there for all of us of all genders about being not
- 3:26someone who's quarrelsome and complaining.
- 3:28Which Which are the gems that hit you today?
- 3:31Oh my goodness, I'm verse 21. Can we just stick that on?
- 3:36I don't know, posters? Yes, we can.
- 3:38Can we make that? You know, let's put it up in our
- 3:40house. Whoever pursues righteousness
- 3:42and unfailing love will find life, righteousness and honour.
- 3:48And the only place we're ever going to find unfailing love is
- 3:50in God, right? Absolutely.
- 3:52Like whoever's pursuing God is going to find life and
- 3:56righteousness and honour. Isn't that beautiful?
- 3:59Oh. So beautiful.
- 4:01And it it contrasts that with the following one which those
- 4:06who rely on a fortress, you know, trust in a fortress to be
- 4:10their strength, they will be conquered.
- 4:14And it's the wise who will do that conquering, because they
- 4:17will be pursuing God. So let us put everything else
- 4:21away to the side and pursue our God.
- 4:24Ah, our holy, wonderful God, who is worth pursuing.
- 4:28We come before you, and we thank you that in you lies
- 4:34righteousness, true righteousness, and the only
- 4:38source of unfailing love. What a wonderful God you are.
- 4:45Let us not trust in any fortress, but let you be our
- 4:50strong foundation and You be our castle in which we choose to
- 4:54live and spend our days. Lord, I pray that in each
- 5:01decision that we make that we would pursue you, that we would
- 5:04put aside our own selfish desires and what the world tells
- 5:08us is a good idea, and instead let us wrap our desires around
- 5:12You and around Jesus in everything that he tells us and
- 5:17shows us about your nature. Our wonderful God S we pray this
- 5:22in his precious name, Amen. Amen.
