- 0:01Hey everybody, welcome to the good morning from the Chicken
- 0:04Coop podcast. My name is Kim Johnson and I am
- 0:07a mastermind, set coach, creative strategist, and also
- 0:09happen to be a farmer. This is my chicken coop and I
- 0:12come out here every day to record a podcast to teach
- 0:16distinctions, possibilities, new ways of thinking, and just bring
- 0:20some joy into the world. So welcome to the coop, and
- 0:23let's start your day off in a fantastic way.
- 0:27Hey everybody, good morning. So little food for thought
- 0:31today. Things don't happen by accident
- 0:34to us. And we kind of love to say, Oh
- 0:39well, I picked the wrong person or Oh well, I picked the wrong
- 0:43job. And we kind of go into this
- 0:46modality of looking at our life like things happen by accident.
- 0:52But here I sit to tell you I don't personally believe that
- 0:57I'm willing to take responsibility for the fact that
- 0:59the things that are in my life are here because I tolerate
- 1:03them. I let them happen.
- 1:04I choose certain things and then those have repercussions,
- 1:09whether it's a dinner, like let's just use something simple
- 1:12like you go out to eat and you you eat something that you know
- 1:16is going to bother your stomach. There are going to be
- 1:18consequences from that. Yet we do it all the time.
- 1:21I know that when I eat ice cream, my nose is going to run
- 1:25and I'm going to have to blow my nose a lot for the next few
- 1:28hours because the dairy that's in the ice cream is usually not
- 1:32dairy. That's particularly going to be
- 1:35effective for my body and it will cause my nose to run.
- 1:38It will it will just be an uncomfortable hour, maybe 2.
- 1:43And I have to decide if I'm willing to do that.
- 1:46When I decide to have ice cream, it's a it's a simple procedure.
- 1:50I feel like having ice cream. OK, great.
- 1:52Do I feel like blowing my nose for an hour?
- 1:54Not really. So I'll skip it.
- 1:55And I've come to discover that certain spots have more of that
- 1:59certain types of ice cream have more of that than others.
- 2:02So I could say, all right, yeah, I could have ice cream, but I
- 2:05got to know what shop to go to. Now I know that sounds it's
- 2:08crazy, but it's really true. If I go to 1 certain shop here,
- 2:13I know it's going to be hours of me having this problem as
- 2:17opposed to if I go to this little custard place, it's not
- 2:20nearly as bad, ironically. So it's something in the
- 2:23product. Obviously it's an allergy to it,
- 2:26but point is it it didn't happen by accident.
- 2:30I'm there's a reason behind the scene.
- 2:32So when we are having all these conditions in our lives that
- 2:36show up and irritate us and we get frustrated and we're like
- 2:40this sucks. There's often 90% of the time
- 2:45high, high percentage 90 at least, if not 100%.
- 2:49I, I just don't like to give absolutes and say 100% of the
- 2:52time we are responsible because sometimes we could look at it
- 2:56and say, I'm not responsible for this.
- 2:58And I wouldn't disagree to this point of like, you get up in the
- 3:01morning, you walk out the door and something happens by
- 3:04accident. You get in a car accident and
- 3:06we're not always responsible. Someone bangs into us and we
- 3:08could say, well, spiritually we were on that path and we left
- 3:12and you know, we attracted it. And, and again, I don't
- 3:15disbelieve that, but I also believe there are things that we
- 3:18can't, can't comprehend in our human brain that's so puny
- 3:22sometimes. So we have to say 90% of the
- 3:25time we're responsible for this. So I'm a big believer in looking
- 3:29at the things we tolerate so we can learn from them.
- 3:32And those things have an effect. So when you decide that you're
- 3:39going to get angry about something, you have to stop and
- 3:43say, what was my participation in this?
- 3:46Did I allow it? You might not have allowed the
- 3:48specific situation that happened, but you did allow
- 3:51this. The person in your life, you,
- 3:54you might not have allowed the specific incident in the
- 3:59beginning, but if you hear a noise in the background, just
- 4:02know I'm, I'm getting ready for the girls breakfast.
- 4:06They're getting peanuts this morning back to this anyway.
- 4:08But you, you, you might not have allowed the specific incident,
- 4:12right? Like you, like you didn't say
- 4:14that, but all of a sudden you allowed the conditions.
- 4:18We teach people how to treat us. So that shows up and then all of
- 4:22a sudden it's like you let someone get away with something
- 4:24once and it becomes OK. And then they're they're going
- 4:27to go for that. They're going to keep going back
- 4:29to that. So we have to stop ourselves and
- 4:32say, OK, I need to stop allowing this.
- 4:35And the best time to do that is when there's nothing happening,
- 4:39when you know that it's calm and you can make a clear headed
- 4:43judgement. So if you are in a state where
- 4:46that is the case, where things are tend to be copacetic right
- 4:50now, nothing good, nothing bad, just right in the middle of the
- 4:53road and it's the middle of the year.
- 4:55So it's a great time to do this and look and say, OK, I'm going
- 4:59to clean up a lot of the things that I've been tolerating in my
- 5:02relationships, in my world, in my emotional world.
- 5:06This is an emotional clean up place.
- 5:09Stop, pause and look and say, what do I need to clean up?
- 5:12Look at it hard, my friends, because it is a really great
- 5:16exercise to do when you're not emotionally tied to it one way
- 5:20or another, angry or exuberant. It's a wonderful exercise, so I
- 5:26hope that's helpful. I hope you guys have a blessed
- 5:29day and I will see you all tomorrow.
- 5:31Bye.
