- 0:01Speaker 1: Minnesota basketball fans, Welcome back to the Living and Loserville Podcast.
- 0:08Speaker 1: He's Aaron, I'm Chris, and.
- 0:10Speaker 2: We're going to talk about the playoffs obviously, right, it's
- 0:16Speaker 2: nice to have Aaron Beck on the show. It is
- 0:19Speaker 2: playoff time, and of course Timbrels fans know the matchup
- 0:24Speaker 2: with the Lakers all too well. Here we are Lebron Luca,
- 0:31Speaker 2: not as good a Biggs as Dallas had. We did
- 0:35Speaker 2: at least, you know, get the week off and have
- 0:38Speaker 2: time to practice, and we did see the effect that
- 0:41Speaker 2: had against Phoenix in Denver in the reverse effect it
- 0:45Speaker 2: had in the Dallas series having to go game seven
- 0:49Speaker 2: right to a series, So that's gotta help. Obviously, we'll
- 0:52Speaker 2: kind of break down the matchups, the key stuff.
- 0:56Speaker 1: We'll do a little bit of a season rap in
- 0:59Speaker 1: a sense for Star the regular season.
- 1:02Speaker 2: I do want to kind of mention how we got here,
- 1:04Speaker 2: considering we could have had a different seed. Shit, we
- 1:08Speaker 2: could have been playing on Tuesday night and maybe Friday
- 1:10Speaker 2: in the plan, right, but we also could have been a.
- 1:14Speaker 1: Higher seat, you know. So it is what it is.
- 1:17Speaker 1: It's been kind of an all over the place type
- 1:22Speaker 1: close to the regular season. You know that Milwaukee game
- 1:25Speaker 1: really is tough to swallow. Although it was nice to
- 1:29Speaker 1: turn right back around and beat Memphis and to be
- 1:32Speaker 1: able to get this week off, you know, at least
- 1:35Speaker 1: they accomplished that. So we're gonna preview and predict. We
- 1:39Speaker 1: were just talking how we'll probably let four games go
- 1:42Speaker 1: by and not this Monday, but next Monday do a show.
- 1:47Speaker 1: But you know, if it's one to one, we'll probably
- 1:49Speaker 1: do one next Thursday. You never know, and that is
- 1:53Speaker 1: key right there, right to be one one. So we'll break.
- 1:56Speaker 2: This this series all the way down. We'll do our
- 1:58Speaker 2: predictions as well, like we did last year. It's funny, Aaron, like,
- 2:04Speaker 2: you know, the same vibe in a sense was the
- 2:08Speaker 2: Phoenix series kind of for different reasons, because I mean
- 2:12Speaker 2: that both teams had small lineups, right, but Phoenix had
- 2:16Speaker 2: beaten us every time and quite handedly at sometimes, and
- 2:21Speaker 2: remember the close the year, they just kicked our ass,
- 2:26Speaker 2: and so it was kind of gloom and doom. You know,
- 2:29Speaker 2: it was like, man, it's a small lineup and they
- 2:31Speaker 2: just kicked their ass and they beat their ass all
- 2:33Speaker 2: year and then we.
- 2:35Speaker 1: Swept them because we got these four days off. So
- 2:38Speaker 1: it is kind of interesting how This all maps out,
- 2:42Speaker 1: but we'll break it down in just the second. If
- 2:44Speaker 1: this is your first time listening to the Living Loser

- 3:54Speaker 1: includes over one hundred and sixty channels, it's one O
- 3:57Speaker 1: nine ninety nine for the first three months.
- 4:02Speaker 2: Okay, so you basically gotta throw out this damn the
- 4:06Speaker 2: regular season.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Obviously, it's the playoffs, right, Aaron. You gotta throw it
- 4:10Speaker 1: out though, because when we faced them earlier in the year,
- 4:13Speaker 1: Luca wasn't there, and then we did play him with
- 4:17Speaker 1: Luca and Lebron and all that, but we didn't have
- 4:20Speaker 1: Randall or go Bear. So you gotta throw it out,
- 4:24Speaker 1: you know, first and foremost. How's it going, Aaron, How
- 4:28Speaker 1: you've been?
- 4:29Speaker 2: Like I said, it's nice to have you back on
- 4:30Speaker 2: the show, talking a little Timberwolves basketball.
- 4:33Speaker 1: My friend.
- 4:35Speaker 3: I'm doing well. Nice to be back on the Living
- 4:37Speaker 3: and Loserville podcast. Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Man.
- 4:39Speaker 3: So you know, you were talking in the intro, and
- 4:41Speaker 3: it made me think about last year and where I
- 4:43Speaker 3: thought about the Phoenix series, and I was like, man,
- 4:46Speaker 3: this is you know, Durant. They just kicked their ass
- 4:50Speaker 3: and this doesn't look good. And it kind of made
- 4:51Speaker 3: me feel better about this series, although obviously you're looking
- 4:55Speaker 3: at a different animal with broun And and Luca again.
- 5:00Speaker 3: But you know, like you said about the regular seasons
- 5:03Speaker 3: kind of up and down, and uh, there's a lot
- 5:07Speaker 3: you know, injuries and problems and then just trying to
- 5:10Speaker 3: get two guys acclimated, you know, into the into the
- 5:13Speaker 3: team after the trading cat and you know, and I
- 5:17Speaker 3: feel like for the most part that kind of happened,
- 5:21Speaker 3: and like you mentioned off air real quick that it
- 5:23Speaker 3: was you know, they kind of got integrated and then
- 5:25Speaker 3: they got hurt, and then you know, kind of had
- 5:28Speaker 3: to reintegrate him again. And then the one game that
- 5:31Speaker 3: the one game the forty nine could have been fifty,
- 5:34Speaker 3: you know with with Milwaukee, which you know that hurts
- 5:38Speaker 3: a little bit because of change you's seeding. But do
- 5:40Speaker 3: you really want to see Denver again? I mean, obviously
- 5:42Speaker 3: we played Denver fairly well, so you'd want to on
- 5:46Speaker 3: that note, you want to see him, But I don't
- 5:48Speaker 3: know if I want to watch another series like that again.
- 5:51Speaker 3: But yeah, a lot to go over. I think that,
- 5:55Speaker 3: you know, just being out of the plane, which was
- 5:57Speaker 3: kind of a fear all season, is a good thing.
- 6:00Speaker 3: We managed to get the sixth seed and and get
- 6:03Speaker 3: a little break. You drew the Lakers. You know, I
- 6:06Speaker 3: have reservations and we'll get into a little bit of
- 6:08Speaker 3: that when we talk about it, but just you know,
- 6:11Speaker 3: it's mud season, so it's it's playoff basketball. And it's
- 6:15Speaker 3: nice to say that after you know, you and I
- 6:17Speaker 3: did this show for god, probably three four five years
- 6:21Speaker 3: of you know, just talking about how to get in
- 6:23Speaker 3: the playoffs and what happens we get in the playoffs
- 6:26Speaker 3: and man, and it's gonna get us to the playoffs.
- 6:28Speaker 3: And now I think you mentioned it four years in
- 6:30Speaker 3: a row. Now, yeah, the playoffs. So it's it's been
- 6:34Speaker 3: a roller coaster and then you trade Cat and you
- 6:36Speaker 3: start to think, well, easy, Randall. I mean, I had
- 6:40Speaker 3: my reservations about that trade. So a lot has happened
- 6:43Speaker 3: back in the playoffs. Good to be back on the show,
- 6:46Speaker 3: La Lakers. You know, it's it is what it is.
- 6:53Speaker 1: It is what it is, no doubt about it. It's
- 6:57Speaker 1: kind of crazy that, like no one would have guessed
- 7:00Speaker 1: that Luca would have gone traded, you know. And you know,
- 7:06Speaker 1: I'm not trying to wish for injury, but Kyrie's hurt,
- 7:09Speaker 1: you know, and they had that team stayed together. That
- 7:15Speaker 1: was like that the hardest matchup for us in that team,
- 7:19Speaker 1: the hardest matchup for us. It felt like during the
- 7:23Speaker 1: season before the trade, that team doesn't exist anymore. It's gone.
- 7:28Speaker 1: It doesn't. It doesn't exist anymore. And but now Luca,
- 7:33Speaker 1: same guy is in La What wouldn't you know?
- 7:37Speaker 2: Now, obviously they don't have the bigs that they did
- 7:40Speaker 2: last year. They're still gonna do lobs and all that,
- 7:44Speaker 2: but I don't think they're gonna get you know, fifteen
- 7:47Speaker 2: to twenty some points out of the out of the
- 7:50Speaker 2: bigs as much as she did prior.
- 7:52Speaker 1: But yeah, you're right, man, Like it's funny because on
- 7:57Speaker 1: the on the surface like not to talk about the past,
- 8:03Speaker 1: but Kat would be a great player to have in
- 8:06Speaker 1: this uh, in this one, I'm just I'm just saying it.
- 8:10Speaker 3: But then I was like, I'm not gonna say that,
- 8:13Speaker 3: you know, but it's true. I mean, who's gonna because
- 8:17Speaker 3: who's gonna stard.
- 8:18Speaker 1: Him in this exactly? You know?
- 8:20Speaker 2: And obviously he can stretch the floor floor. The funny
- 8:24Speaker 2: thing is, though, you know, analytically efficiency wise, we are
- 8:32Speaker 2: one of four teams that are both offense and defense
- 8:36Speaker 2: in the top ten. I believe it's seventh in offense
- 8:40Speaker 2: in eighth in defense. Maybe that's flip flop, I don't remember,
- 8:43Speaker 2: but either way, like it's kind of you know, they
- 8:46Speaker 2: did the train to try to because Dante is a
- 8:50Speaker 2: big factor in that as well.
- 8:52Speaker 1: And on the surface, you look at the starting line,
- 8:55Speaker 1: but like, how do we hit more threes and take more.
- 8:58Speaker 2: Threes because Rooty don't take him obviously, and please don't
- 9:01Speaker 2: take him in this series, Randall's kind of wishing washing
- 9:05Speaker 2: from the line. He takes them, McDaniels takes them, but
- 9:08Speaker 2: they're wishy washing. You know, they can get hot, they
- 9:10Speaker 2: can go six or eight or four eight or four six, whatever,
- 9:13Speaker 2: they can go, but they're not on average that good. Right,
- 9:17Speaker 2: Conley on fire again and then Ant, you know, led
- 9:21Speaker 2: the league in three point makes by one over Beasley.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But then if you look at Nas, you look at Alexander.
- 9:30Speaker 2: Walker, and you look at Devincenzo, all three of those
- 9:32Speaker 2: are knocked out three point shooters.
- 9:34Speaker 1: So it does kind of make sense we do.
- 9:38Speaker 2: It did improve our offense, not the same we couldn't
- 9:40Speaker 2: have improved with Cat, but it did improve our our
- 9:44Speaker 2: offense somewhat. We do have a power forward that's quicker
- 9:47Speaker 2: footed in Randall in a little bit more physical, a
- 9:50Speaker 2: little different style.
- 9:54Speaker 1: But yeah, it is crazy.
- 9:55Speaker 2: How like right when they figured it out, Aaron Boom,
- 9:59Speaker 2: Dante got hurt, he got in the lineup, like for
- 10:01Speaker 2: five games in the starting lineup, I think they're four and.
- 10:05Speaker 1: One or five and one or something like that. And
- 10:08Speaker 1: he gets hurt and then we're like on a five
- 10:10Speaker 1: zero run. We won five straight.
- 10:12Speaker 2: It was our at the time, it was our longest
- 10:14Speaker 2: winning streak. And then you know, Randal gets hurt. But
- 10:17Speaker 2: when he came back, we won eight straight. So it's
- 10:20Speaker 2: nice to be fully healthy. I think even Shannon might
- 10:23Speaker 2: be healthy. But going back to that Milwaukee game, you know,
- 10:28Speaker 2: just real quick, like it's.
- 10:30Speaker 1: Ninety five to seventy.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Nine with nine minutes left, and really even when you
- 10:36Speaker 2: hit the ten minute mark, you're up five more than that,
- 10:39Speaker 2: and just the spurt of like sloppiness super early.
- 10:43Speaker 1: I think we had four or five early falls in
- 10:46Speaker 1: that fourth quarter, and Milwaukee you know, goes from like
- 10:50Speaker 1: eleven to five run to fourteen to five to seventeen
- 10:54Speaker 1: to five and then you look at the overall pitcher
- 10:57Speaker 1: it literally got to twenty three oh run and we
- 11:01Speaker 1: were like, oh of six. You know, just bad.
- 11:05Speaker 2: Possession after bad possession, turnovers, you know, just jacking threes.
- 11:13Speaker 2: The zone was just killing us. It's like they just
- 11:16Speaker 2: couldn't figure out the zone whatsoever it was. It was
- 11:21Speaker 2: just disappointing to give that up. Now there's the funny
- 11:24Speaker 2: thing is there's only been two comebacks like that in.
- 11:27Speaker 1: The league this year. One of them happened against us
- 11:30Speaker 1: in the Milwaukee game where we gave up a twenty
- 11:32Speaker 1: four point lead, and the other one was when we
- 11:35Speaker 1: came back against Okac. So that really puts it in
- 11:40Speaker 1: the nutshell. But yeah, it got to a thirty to
- 11:42Speaker 1: three run. I mean, it was ugly and I was
- 11:46Speaker 1: down at that point. I was like, dude, what are
- 11:48Speaker 1: you serious, Like, we can't You're just playing so well
- 11:53Speaker 1: and you let your guard down.
- 11:55Speaker 2: And that has been an issue, not just this year,
- 11:58Speaker 2: but that's been an issue of let your guard down
- 12:01Speaker 2: and up we got it, you know, we got in
- 12:02Speaker 2: the bag. And so I was wondering, you know, how
- 12:05Speaker 2: they would bounce back against Memphis when you knew if
- 12:10Speaker 2: we beat Memphis and we went out against two teams
- 12:13Speaker 2: that don't want to win because of draft order, then.
- 12:17Speaker 1: You know, we'll get in the sixth seed at least,
- 12:20Speaker 1: you know.
- 12:22Speaker 2: So that was that was nice that they did pull away,
- 12:25Speaker 2: and it really it was kind of matched the game
- 12:28Speaker 2: all of a sudden we're on this, you know, twenty
- 12:31Speaker 2: four to two run and we're up big, and.
- 12:34Speaker 1: You're like, all right, dude, let's see what we do here.
- 12:37Speaker 1: You know, we got a nice lead. Do we comfortable
- 12:39Speaker 1: again or do we close this thing out? And it
- 12:44Speaker 1: was just weird to like feel timid when you're up
- 12:49Speaker 1: even you know, one twenty six to one eleven. You know,
- 12:54Speaker 1: it was like, oh, dude, here they come.
- 12:56Speaker 2: And we went like we had a stretch of like
- 12:58Speaker 2: one of nine from three and you know, they they
- 13:02Speaker 2: did cut into the lead, but not enough.
- 13:05Speaker 1: And Randall had a nice back down fade and he
- 13:10Speaker 1: had a three point a three point dagger really and
- 13:13Speaker 1: put the game away.
- 13:14Speaker 2: So I will say that bounce back was nice, no doubt.
- 13:20Speaker 2: But and I do think that they'll be, you know,
- 13:24Speaker 2: plugged in and turned.
- 13:25Speaker 1: On and ready to go the whole time.
- 13:27Speaker 2: And I remember and during the playoffs last year, there
- 13:31Speaker 2: was that clip of him saying, put your foot on
- 13:33Speaker 2: the pedal, do not let up. And obviously sometimes he
- 13:36Speaker 2: can look in the mirror and say to himself and
- 13:38Speaker 2: he's admitted that. So there's no more nothing like that,
- 13:44Speaker 2: you know. And in that second quarter, there was just
- 13:48Speaker 2: multiple plays, multiple players that were just defensively not there.
- 13:52Speaker 2: It's like, dude, you guys realize that you don't want
- 13:55Speaker 2: to be on a plan.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Right. So on one hand, you know that's four seed
- 14:00Speaker 1: against Denver.
- 14:01Speaker 2: I gotta admit I would like to play them because
- 14:04Speaker 2: they don't have a rimp protector and we beat them
- 14:07Speaker 2: all every game this year.
- 14:08Speaker 1: In fact, we're six to zero.
- 14:10Speaker 2: Run on them based off Game six and Game seven
- 14:14Speaker 2: in this year.
- 14:14Speaker 1: So I would much prefer to have the home court
- 14:18Speaker 1: and to play Denver in the first round. But that's
- 14:21Speaker 1: not gonna happen. But you know, if you're ever gonna
- 14:24Speaker 1: play the Lakers end, this is when you want to
- 14:27Speaker 1: get them because next year they're probably gonna be a big.
- 14:30Speaker 1: They're probably gonna get a big, and they're gonna be
- 14:32Speaker 1: more fine tuned. So there is something to say about
- 14:35Speaker 1: that as well.
- 14:36Speaker 2: They don't have the multiple bigs that are long and
- 14:39Speaker 2: athletic and give us fits as much. I will say
- 14:44Speaker 2: that as Dallas. You know, I think it's an upgrade
- 14:47Speaker 2: from Kyrie to Lebron. But we discussed this before. In
- 14:50Speaker 2: that series, Kyrie did go crazy and hit some crazy shots.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So it is what it is. We do perform better
- 14:59Speaker 1: randomly on the road and as the underdog, as we
- 15:02Speaker 1: saw those first two series.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Being the underdog and then you know, losing to Dallas
- 15:08Speaker 2: as the favorite.
- 15:11Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean my point was with the Denver thing
- 15:13Speaker 3: is of course you'd want to see them, because for
- 15:16Speaker 3: all the reasons that you lined up, the only thing
- 15:19Speaker 3: is that I thought was just like, do you want
- 15:21Speaker 3: to watch that series again? You know in it's Minnesota
- 15:24Speaker 3: sports too, so right, And it was a good series,
- 15:26Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, but it's like, if you feel
- 15:28Speaker 3: like we've gone over the Denver hump, I want to
- 15:31Speaker 3: get into something else, you know. And then you mentioned
- 15:34Speaker 3: that stretch of games with the Milwaukee disaster, which you know,
- 15:38Speaker 3: you get up that much, maybe it's salted away a
- 15:41Speaker 3: little bit, and then they come back and they hit you.
- 15:43Speaker 3: But you gotta be able to stop the bleeding, which
- 15:45Speaker 3: is something that last year defensively they were able to
- 15:48Speaker 3: do a lot easier and we're kind of missing that
- 15:51Speaker 3: this year. And to let a team go on thirty
- 15:53Speaker 3: to whatever run is ridiculous. And then you get into
- 15:57Speaker 3: the Memphis game, like you said, which is always been
- 16:00Speaker 3: sort of a tough matchup for us, and you know
- 16:03Speaker 3: this one would kind of I won't say we cruised
- 16:05Speaker 3: through it. We had some up and downs, but you know,
- 16:07Speaker 3: Jaws basically one man show. At this point. They've lost
- 16:10Speaker 3: a lot of guys. They saw Bane, they got a
- 16:12Speaker 3: lot of things. But I think the big intimidator guy
- 16:15Speaker 3: forgot his name, but I think he's not there anymore,
- 16:17Speaker 3: seeing Houston or something. I forgot his name, Canadian guy. Anyways,
- 16:22Speaker 3: so they did bounce back and they got that and
- 16:26Speaker 3: then you know, the two games against the other team
- 16:28Speaker 3: to get in the six So you know, I'm happy
- 16:29Speaker 3: about six seed. Yes, Denver would have been a nice matchup,
- 16:32Speaker 3: but now you got to face Now you talk Luca
- 16:35Speaker 3: slash Kyrie, which is a better you know, I think,
- 16:39Speaker 3: And I kind of argued off the air that was like,
- 16:41Speaker 3: you know, I think Kyrie is a tougher against us,
- 16:45Speaker 3: but then you know, you said Lebron, and yeah, Lebron,
- 16:47Speaker 3: you know he's the Lebron, but he's forty not taking
- 16:51Speaker 3: anything away from certainly not before the series, but you know,
- 16:55Speaker 3: Kyrie's just tough when he's on and he was on
- 16:57Speaker 3: that series.
- 16:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yeah, Ow, you're facing you know, Luca for whatever it is.
- 17:03Speaker 3: You know, the guy makes shots, he's a good offensive player. Owen.
- 17:10Speaker 3: Then I also wanted to before I get into the
- 17:12Speaker 3: whole Laker thing. You know, the problem I thought that
- 17:16Speaker 3: this team has, and it really showed its face in Milwaukee,
- 17:20Speaker 3: and it's kind of been there all year, and you
- 17:23Speaker 3: really hope they can do something about it, you know,
- 17:25Speaker 3: in the next week or so. Is turnovers. You know,
- 17:29Speaker 3: it's a lot of turnovers this year and obviously untimely ones,
- 17:34Speaker 3: kind of regressing back to where pre playoff Wolves, where
- 17:38Speaker 3: they would you know, just just dumb, just dumb turnovers.
- 17:41Speaker 3: You know, if they're all on and in it, you're
- 17:43Speaker 3: not going to get those turnovers. But when you have
- 17:46Speaker 3: some issues, you know, or or the game gets a
- 17:50Speaker 3: little complicated, you tend they tend to rise, you know,
- 17:53Speaker 3: and you say, okay, you can't afford these turnovers and whatever.
- 17:57Speaker 3: So you know, and playoffs things start to tighten up.
- 18:00Speaker 3: I think people get more a little more focused, so
- 18:02Speaker 3: maybe the turnovers go down. But back to Lebron, I mean,
- 18:07Speaker 3: we kind of discussed a little bit and we were
- 18:09Speaker 3: going back and forth and it's like, well, you know,
- 18:11Speaker 3: you're looking at the same body type with both Luca
- 18:14Speaker 3: and Lebron just different delivery. Lebron's been more athletic, Luca's
- 18:18Speaker 3: got playmaking ability, which is surprising, you know, and then
- 18:23Speaker 3: obviously he's a great shooter, great offensive player. So you're
- 18:27Speaker 3: looking at these two forwards and do you match him up?
- 18:31Speaker 3: And how do you match him up? I think, you know,
- 18:32Speaker 3: the Vincenzo's going to be the wildcard for us. He's
- 18:35Speaker 3: got to be on and shooting well, and I think
- 18:38Speaker 3: he can. If he is, we stand a much better
- 18:40Speaker 3: chance to win. But obviously, but I mean it goes
- 18:46Speaker 3: up with saying that within the flow and getting into it,
- 18:49Speaker 3: and he'll probably get more minutes in the playoffs. You know,
- 18:52Speaker 3: what do you think about the bench? Chris, Like, just
- 18:55Speaker 3: to divert for a second, how deep are we going
- 18:57Speaker 3: to go? We're gonna go down to I mean, because
- 19:00Speaker 3: you're talking about the starting five, then you got nah
- 19:03Speaker 3: Devincenzo nas is Hena cut it to like eight or nine.
- 19:09Speaker 3: I mean, what are we looking at for a bench?
- 19:11Speaker 3: He're because you can't. You want to run bodies at
- 19:15Speaker 3: Lebron and Lucas, so you want to collect fouls, but
- 19:18Speaker 3: you can't go too deep into your bench because you
- 19:20Speaker 3: give up stuff. So I just had this thought. It's like, well, yeah,
- 19:23Speaker 3: you'd like to go deep, like maybe down to like Clark,
- 19:27Speaker 3: but you know, maybe even down to the rookie uh Gillingham.
- 19:33Speaker 3: But then again, you know, uh, do you want to
- 19:36Speaker 3: go with your with your vets and stay you know,
- 19:40Speaker 3: probably seven to eight in that maybe nine.
- 19:45Speaker 1: Sure.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it's just one of those things where
- 19:48Speaker 3: it presents so many different wrinkles depending on what Lebron
- 19:53Speaker 3: you see on what night. I think you're gonna see
- 19:55Speaker 3: some really great adjustment stuff going on with in this series.
- 20:00Speaker 3: It's you know, the thing, I'll just get it off
- 20:02Speaker 3: my chest right now. I'm kind of holding it back.
- 20:04Speaker 3: But the thing that bugs me about this series the
- 20:07Speaker 3: most is just officiating. And I know that's nobody wants
- 20:11Speaker 3: to hang their hat on that or say that's a
- 20:12Speaker 3: big thing, but you're talking about the Lakers playoffs, TV markets,
- 20:20Speaker 3: all these things that go together, and it's just hard
- 20:22Speaker 3: for me to think that they're gonna get to the
- 20:26Speaker 3: You're gonna get to the line more than they are.
- 20:28Speaker 3: You know, that's gonna be an issue, and it's just
- 20:32Speaker 3: kind of lingering, you know, in the back of my head.
- 20:34Speaker 3: It's like, Okay, even if you play really well in
- 20:37Speaker 3: LA and you're winning, you know, it's just are you
- 20:41Speaker 3: gonna get whistles that stop the flow and you know,
- 20:46Speaker 3: keep the game in in hand so that the Lakers
- 20:49Speaker 3: have a chance to come back. It's questions like that
- 20:50Speaker 3: that are just kind of lingering in my mind right now.
- 20:55Speaker 1: Yeah, and for good reason, no doubt about it. And
- 20:58Speaker 1: you know, both those that's top players know how to
- 21:01Speaker 1: draw a fall and they just make the right plays
- 21:04Speaker 1: over and over again.
- 21:05Speaker 2: They do, you know, like you said, they do it
- 21:07Speaker 2: in a different style. Obviously, Lebron is moral purpose because
- 21:12Speaker 2: he could play defense. Now at forty he can't play
- 21:15Speaker 2: as much defense throughout a whole game as he could before.
- 21:17Speaker 1: But he's getting a week off too.
- 21:19Speaker 2: He didn't play on Sunday, so he got a full
- 21:21Speaker 2: week off, so he's gonna be about a fresh as
- 21:25Speaker 2: a forty year old could be.
- 21:27Speaker 1: But yeah, it's a good point, and I got and
- 21:29Speaker 1: some in some ways, I kind of feel like.
- 21:35Speaker 2: If it just came down to a fishing and the
- 21:39Speaker 2: officials like tiki tack all of a sudden, lets you
- 21:43Speaker 2: play for a while, then tiki tak and they just
- 21:45Speaker 2: kind of leaned into you know, like you said, the
- 21:49Speaker 2: politics right, you want La and you want him to
- 21:52Speaker 2: go further and all that, and you know La and Boston,
- 21:56Speaker 2: the renewed rivalry once again would do in the ratings.
- 22:00Speaker 1: But honestly, it came down to I would be pissed,
- 22:05Speaker 1: no doubt, but I would I would.
- 22:09Speaker 2: Think that that's some form of an accomplishment too. And
- 22:12Speaker 2: I say that because of the way we play in
- 22:18Speaker 2: clutch time. So if if we did.
- 22:23Speaker 1: Buckle up and tighten up and have more structure and
- 22:27Speaker 1: make the right plays down.
- 22:30Speaker 2: The stretch, you know, the clutch time has been such
- 22:32Speaker 2: a big deal stat in the recent years. You know,
- 22:36Speaker 2: within five points either team five minutes left, and we're
- 22:39Speaker 2: really bad at that. We had the most, we had
- 22:45Speaker 2: the most games in that category, and we had the
- 22:48Speaker 2: worst record, and so on one hand, and led the
- 22:55Speaker 2: league in clutch points, but if you look at his
- 22:58Speaker 2: numbers compared to the guy was a point behind him,
- 23:02Speaker 2: he definitely wasn't great in the clutch, you know, and
- 23:05Speaker 2: our whole team, not just to put out ant, but
- 23:07Speaker 2: you know, on social media, they did make it a
- 23:09Speaker 2: big deal like he's the number one clutch player and
- 23:11Speaker 2: if you've watched the games, you know.
- 23:13Speaker 1: That's just not true.
- 23:16Speaker 2: But having this this practice time, I think will really.
- 23:22Speaker 1: Help ant to get out the ball when they blit
- 23:25Speaker 1: some and it just to know to make the right play.
- 23:27Speaker 2: And then it's up to his teammates and knock down
- 23:29Speaker 2: the shots as well, even if it's a hockey batch
- 23:32Speaker 2: from him.
- 23:33Speaker 1: We just get the ball going and move it and
- 23:36Speaker 1: then we'll see, you know, where it goes. But if
- 23:38Speaker 1: we're able to, I think we'll be in most of
- 23:42Speaker 1: these games. And that's the thing about last year and oh,
- 23:46Speaker 1: Rudy exposed or Rudy was exposed by Luca. Luca does
- 23:51Speaker 1: this and James does They're just they're just waiting to
- 23:55Speaker 1: put up thirty, ten and ten, dude.
- 23:56Speaker 2: That's just what they do. And so it's not it
- 23:59Speaker 2: didn't just come down to that, it really did. It
- 24:02Speaker 2: came down to we weren't executing.
- 24:06Speaker 1: On the offensive side of the ball, but when push
- 24:09Speaker 1: came to shove. So that does kind of worry me.
- 24:12Speaker 1: And that's why I'm saying there's no moral victories. But
- 24:15Speaker 1: if it just.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Came down to a tick tag ball, but we were
- 24:18Speaker 2: right in it and they hit two free throws and
- 24:20Speaker 2: that's how they win. I'd still be like, well, we
- 24:23Speaker 2: did make a jump, you know, we did make elite there,
- 24:25Speaker 2: and I'd want to try to keep this team together
- 24:28Speaker 2: at that point probably, But yeah, you're right.
- 24:30Speaker 1: I mean, both those guys know how to control a game,
- 24:34Speaker 1: especially offensively. And on the flip side, you know, Bron's
- 24:39Speaker 1: not the defender he was.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Of course, he's forty. Like we say, he's not as explosive,
- 24:45Speaker 2: but man, sometimes he'll go down the lane and just
- 24:47Speaker 2: put a windmill dunk.
- 24:48Speaker 1: You're like, are we sure he's not explosive, because that
- 24:51Speaker 1: sure looked explosive. But I think having Luca is gonna
- 24:55Speaker 1: give him time to do.
- 24:57Speaker 2: More stuff off ball and not have to, you know,
- 25:00Speaker 2: bring them all up every time, set up the offense
- 25:03Speaker 2: every time, and so I think that actually is gonna
- 25:05Speaker 2: help Luga. But on the flip side, something we couldn't do,
- 25:09Speaker 2: speaking of offense and all that and execution, we couldn't
- 25:14Speaker 2: take advantage of Luca on defense. And you saw some
- 25:20Speaker 2: of it before our series, and you definitely saw it
- 25:25Speaker 2: in that.
- 25:25Speaker 1: Series with Boston.
- 25:27Speaker 2: Now Boston was the better team, but they literally had
- 25:30Speaker 2: a lot of people call them ball handlers now because
- 25:32Speaker 2: you don't have as many true point guards, but really playmakers.
- 25:35Speaker 1: They have about four guys that can make plays and
- 25:39Speaker 1: that they just they hunted Luca the whole series and
- 25:43Speaker 1: they're a better team, but that had a lot to
- 25:46Speaker 1: do with it.
- 25:48Speaker 2: If we don't do some of that and make Loco
- 25:51Speaker 2: work on that side of the ball, it's gonna be tough.
- 25:54Speaker 4: And then I mentioned how they don't have the same bigs.
- 25:57Speaker 4: They don't have the same leticism and size and length
- 26:02Speaker 4: and all that. They're a big small lineup, if that
- 26:04Speaker 4: makes sense. But they're bigs aren't big big.
- 26:07Speaker 1: So Rudy who's been dominating, Randall who's been really solid,
- 26:13Speaker 1: and Nos and Nas has been kind of up and
- 26:17Speaker 1: down lately. But those three have to produce.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I'm not saying we need seventy points out all for it,
- 26:24Speaker 2: you know, I'm just saying they all have to really
- 26:27Speaker 2: because if we're not, if we're gonna play big, we
- 26:30Speaker 2: have to punish them.
- 26:31Speaker 1: We have to punish them. Now. The cool thing is
- 26:34Speaker 1: Aaron we can go small, and Dante Alexander.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Walker and Nas is a He can small ball really
- 26:42Speaker 2: right because he could shoot.
- 26:43Speaker 1: So it may be a time where we have half
- 26:46Speaker 1: aunt Dante, Alexander Walker, McDaniels and nas Or mc nas
- 26:53Speaker 1: and Randall. You know, we saw that when Rudy was
- 26:59Speaker 1: out with his backage for a while early in the season.
- 27:02Speaker 2: It looked pretty bad defensively. I'm not saying it's great defensively,
- 27:06Speaker 2: but it got better and the ball was moving. The
- 27:10Speaker 2: ball was really moving in there. So we're more prepared
- 27:14Speaker 2: to shoot threes and make him this year. And I
- 27:18Speaker 2: do kind of feel like this is gonna be an
- 27:21Speaker 2: offensive series. And you know, I say it in football,
- 27:25Speaker 2: I say it in basketball. Say it nowadays, great offense
- 27:29Speaker 2: generally beats great defense.
- 27:30Speaker 1: Nowadays, it just does. And so back to my point
- 27:35Speaker 1: about everybody thinks Luca was just cooking us.
- 27:38Speaker 2: Yeah he was, but he cooks everybody. So we have
- 27:42Speaker 2: to perform on the offensive end. It's not just and getting.
- 27:46Speaker 1: Out the ball.
- 27:47Speaker 2: It's also his teammates either making the right pass. You know,
- 27:51Speaker 2: they broke it down on the Dayan Moore Show the
- 27:52Speaker 2: other day. Really well, if he makes the pass early,
- 27:55Speaker 2: you got Randall there with a four arm three.
- 27:58Speaker 1: He's really good at that. If they don't draw.
- 28:01Speaker 2: As much attention to Randall, he's been really good at Okay,
- 28:04Speaker 2: I'm taking in the post it, you know, so it's
- 28:07Speaker 2: gonna be interesting.
- 28:08Speaker 1: And you look at like.
- 28:10Speaker 2: A rankings, you know, Lebron, Luca, I think you put
- 28:12Speaker 2: them on top of Aunt Randall, Rudy McDaniels is right there.
- 28:18Speaker 2: Like as far as better players, Austin Reeves is a
- 28:21Speaker 2: pretty damn good player. Having Lebron and Luca really helps
- 28:27Speaker 2: him really show off what he's really good at. If
- 28:30Speaker 2: he had to be dependent on to be a number
- 28:33Speaker 2: one point guard, I don't think he'd be as as effective.
- 28:36Speaker 1: But you know, man, I don't know. It's a tough
- 28:40Speaker 1: one man. And then Conley. You know, Conley had wasn't
- 28:44Speaker 1: healthy in the conference finals, and you could see it
- 28:46Speaker 1: last year, had an injury to the point where he
- 28:51Speaker 1: couldn't really play basketball in the offseason, and you could
- 28:54Speaker 1: see it early in the season. But for a while
- 28:58Speaker 1: now he's been lighting it up.
- 29:00Speaker 2: And when Gabe Vincent's out there, that would be a
- 29:02Speaker 2: good matchup for him.
- 29:04Speaker 1: But you know, can they exploit Conley. They exploited Conley
- 29:08Speaker 1: on defense.
- 29:09Speaker 2: Last year Dallas did, but he also wasn't healthy, so
- 29:12Speaker 2: that that will be kind of interesting and maybe Dante
- 29:15Speaker 2: and Alexander Rocker would play more down the stretch. So yeah,
- 29:22Speaker 2: and I think we'll go eight deep maybe. And you
- 29:25Speaker 2: mentioned this before we hit record Clark. I would say
- 29:28Speaker 2: Clark has a good chance of playing early second and
- 29:31Speaker 2: early fourth.
- 29:34Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 29:34Speaker 2: You know, if we got in a real buying with Biggs,
- 29:38Speaker 2: we'd probably just go small instead of putting guards in Dyla.
- 29:42Speaker 1: I don't think Rob's gonna get in because you.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Have Conlee, you have Dante, but you never know if
- 29:49Speaker 2: Shannon's healthy. He had his best game against the Lakers,
- 29:51Speaker 2: and he is a really good small ball.
- 29:54Speaker 1: So to me, you know, I feel like we gotta
- 29:57Speaker 1: win one of the first two games to be one
- 30:01Speaker 1: in one going back home, as long as we deliver
- 30:05Speaker 1: at home. Mareon right. We have an issue with the
- 30:07Speaker 1: last couple of years in the playoffs at home, which
- 30:10Speaker 1: kind of makes me feel like we're gonna be one
- 30:12Speaker 1: in one going home because we play so damn good
- 30:17Speaker 1: on the road. And I don't know, I mean, I'm
- 30:19Speaker 1: not getting in my prediction just yet, but like we
- 30:22Speaker 1: can talk about how good can Jaydeen be on Luca
- 30:26Speaker 1: or will the size take him over that just that
- 30:30Speaker 1: sheer strength and size of Luca that was an issue.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Maybe Randal on.
- 30:34Speaker 2: Luca for a while. Who's gonna cover Lebron. Maybe it's
- 30:39Speaker 2: Randal on Lebron. Maybe it's ant on Lebron. There are
- 30:43Speaker 2: a lot of different matchups. That's going to be interesting, man,
- 30:46Speaker 2: And that's when it comes down to the playoffs, right Mac,
- 30:49Speaker 2: some adjustments.
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, we're gonna see in game one a
- 30:52Speaker 3: lot of how the game flow is gonna go. We
- 30:55Speaker 3: don't really know right now what's gonna happen, but yeah,
- 30:58Speaker 3: I mean there's a lot of good things. Let's you know,
- 31:00Speaker 3: you made a lot of great points there, trying to
- 31:02Speaker 3: keep tracking them in my head. Let's start with Rudy.
- 31:05Speaker 3: It's interesting now because you know, all the talk is, well,
- 31:09Speaker 3: the Lakers are gonna run Rudy off the court and
- 31:11Speaker 3: all this other stuff, and you know that's great, but
- 31:14Speaker 3: we're able to adjust to that. So you know, you think, well,
- 31:18Speaker 3: you can use Rudy in spots here, almost off the
- 31:20Speaker 3: bench type of thing. Yeah, you'll probably start him and
- 31:23Speaker 3: then pull him and playing for two minutes to get
- 31:25Speaker 3: him on bench because we're gonna be running with a
- 31:27Speaker 3: smaller lineup here most likely. And I would say Randall
- 31:30Speaker 3: had probably switched to the five on that at least preferably.
- 31:34Speaker 3: I'd like to see that maybe NAS in some different
- 31:36Speaker 3: situations like you mentioned. But and then you can put
- 31:39Speaker 3: Rudy in for like, let's say, closing halves where you're
- 31:42Speaker 3: up five and you want to just stay that way
- 31:44Speaker 3: you can play defense or to close a game. He
- 31:47Speaker 3: can help close there. But it feels like he's gonna
- 31:49Speaker 3: be very versatile here and when you use him and
- 31:52Speaker 3: how you use him. And then I think you're right
- 31:55Speaker 3: about the bench here. If we can get run out
- 31:58Speaker 3: of the bench consistently and throw you keep running these
- 32:02Speaker 3: guys because they're not as deep as us, and if
- 32:04Speaker 3: you can get them tired of me, you might not
- 32:06Speaker 3: see the effects in game one.
- 32:08Speaker 1: But game four.
- 32:10Speaker 3: You start getting down to like, okay, some guys are
- 32:13Speaker 3: getting a little winded. And then you know, I think
- 32:17Speaker 3: you're right about game one. You know, the first two
- 32:19Speaker 3: games you got to I mean, you have to come
- 32:20Speaker 3: back one and one. If you don't, it's it's not over.
- 32:25Speaker 3: But man, it's it's not gonna be a fun show. Yeah,
- 32:28Speaker 3: And then you know, so which kind of leads to
- 32:30Speaker 3: the next point is like you got to get game
- 32:32Speaker 3: one because you know you're in l A and you know,
- 32:37Speaker 3: with what I already brought up earlier, it's like you
- 32:39Speaker 3: don't want to get in a hole. If you can
- 32:41Speaker 3: get up game one, you know, set the tone, so
- 32:43Speaker 3: to speak. It kind of changes the way things go.
- 32:46Speaker 3: Now is that can be easy to do. No, but
- 32:49Speaker 3: you can throw some things at them. Who can guard Aunt?
- 32:52Speaker 3: I think we talked a little bit about that. Yeah,
- 32:55Speaker 3: they're gonna run the trap at IMF he can adjust
- 32:56Speaker 3: to that, throw out of it, deal with it, recognize it.
- 33:00Speaker 3: That'll change the course of everything. And then just straight
- 33:04Speaker 3: up who can guard Ant? They don't have anybody who
- 33:06Speaker 3: can stay in front of him. I don't think Bron
- 33:08Speaker 3: can do it. Bron can get handsy with him, but
- 33:10Speaker 3: as far as foot speed, you're not gonna find anybody.
- 33:13Speaker 3: So get Ant running almost like what Curry does. You
- 33:16Speaker 3: might wear Ant down a little bit, but keep him moving,
- 33:18Speaker 3: keep him going, keep him cutting constant movement. Whoever's guarding
- 33:22Speaker 3: him is gonna get tired, so you just keep running him.
- 33:25Speaker 3: And that's kind of what they did with Kyrie Dallas
- 33:27Speaker 3: last last year. And you know anybody you do that too,
- 33:33Speaker 3: is gonna be tough because it's not really the way
- 33:35Speaker 3: the game's predicated anymore with cuts and slashes. And I
- 33:38Speaker 3: think Ant can do that, although he doesn't want to
- 33:40Speaker 3: shoot the three quite a bit and we need him to.
- 33:42Speaker 3: So so that's the thing. And then again I mentioned earlier,
- 33:45Speaker 3: Devincenzo's gotta be hitting shots enough. He's got to hit
- 33:49Speaker 3: enough shots to make it almost like he should be
- 33:52Speaker 3: in the starting lineup. I mean he's got to be
- 33:54Speaker 3: hitting shots, yes, and Nas has got to play consistently.
- 33:59Speaker 3: Na to make good plays, has to hit shots and
- 34:02Speaker 3: just don't turn the ball over for any of these guys,
- 34:05Speaker 3: but for the bench itself, because the bench is either
- 34:08Speaker 3: gonna have to hold lead or or extend one. So
- 34:13Speaker 3: so that's the thing. And you know a lot of
- 34:16Speaker 3: people are talking about Lakers coach name escapes me at
- 34:20Speaker 3: the moment. Jick JJ Reddick. That's it. You know, how
- 34:24Speaker 3: creative and inventive and and all this stuff that he is.
- 34:28Speaker 1: You know, yeah, yeah, he's he's a genius.
- 34:33Speaker 3: He's got all the answers, you know, learning from coach
- 34:36Speaker 3: k No. But it's just you know, the players play
- 34:41Speaker 3: the game, and yeah, you can get him in spots.
- 34:43Speaker 3: You're right, and I want to harp on this point too,
- 34:45Speaker 3: because we talked a little bit off here. You did
- 34:47Speaker 3: bring it up. I brought up a little bit. And
- 34:49Speaker 3: recognizing where the play is is going to be huge
- 34:53Speaker 3: because that's what JJ is gonna test him on. They're
- 34:56Speaker 3: gonna test him on his recognition. Has he read?
- 35:00Speaker 1: So they're gonna get gimmicky too because they don't. They're
- 35:02Speaker 1: not like a stalwart defensive team.
- 35:04Speaker 3: Sure, and they're gonna throw the kitchen sink at him
- 35:07Speaker 3: to see what he can do and what he can't do.
- 35:10Speaker 3: And so if you can manage to get away with
- 35:12Speaker 3: Game one through all of that and then let Aunt
- 35:15Speaker 3: lay the precedent of look I can handle eighty of
- 35:19Speaker 3: the things you throw at me, Yeah, that'll change the
- 35:23Speaker 3: whole way the series goes. I don't really fear Braun
- 35:27Speaker 3: and Luca, but I do in the sense that drawn
- 35:32Speaker 3: fowls tricky stuff, vet stuff that doesn't seem like Aunt's
- 35:38Speaker 3: really quite gotten his hands on yet. I mean, obviously,
- 35:42Speaker 3: Broun's been in the league for twenty years, he's he
- 35:44Speaker 3: knows his way around the unspoken stuff. And then Luca's
- 35:49Speaker 3: also picked up on quite a bit too, So you know,
- 35:52Speaker 3: that's the stuff that kind of that kind of gets
- 35:54Speaker 3: me a little bit. But then I also think back
- 35:57Speaker 3: of like, okay, but we thought this going into the
- 36:00Speaker 3: Phoenix series with with with dr Ant last year and
- 36:05Speaker 3: and Booker, and we thought, you know, a lot of
- 36:07Speaker 3: the same kind of bugaboos. Yeah, and you know, Aunt
- 36:11Speaker 3: kicked it up a notch. Nobody saw it coming the
- 36:14Speaker 3: way it was it was delivered, and you know, that
- 36:18Speaker 3: series wasn't anything to worry about, not saying that that's
- 36:21Speaker 3: gonna happen, because I think there's a multitude or reasons,
- 36:23Speaker 3: some of them already pointed out. While this series is
- 36:25Speaker 3: probably gonna go I mean, if you're gonna win the series,
- 36:28Speaker 3: it's gonna be no less than six and probably seven games,
- 36:32Speaker 3: and you're gonna fight every freaking one of them. You know,
- 36:35Speaker 3: you're gonna fight the officials, You're gonna fight the Lakers,
- 36:37Speaker 3: You're gonna fight scheduling, You're gonna fight everything to win
- 36:41Speaker 3: the series. If you win the series, I think you
- 36:45Speaker 3: got a wide open door to the Conference finals and
- 36:47Speaker 3: possibly possibly the finals. But you have to you have
- 36:50Speaker 3: to win this one, and that starts in Game one
- 36:53Speaker 3: and I think it's just you have to get game one, Chris.
- 36:55Speaker 3: It's that's my point here, just you gotta get game one.
- 37:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, you're right, you know.
- 37:02Speaker 2: I mean, obviously being one to zero does take a
- 37:06Speaker 2: lot of pressure off because then game two is not
- 37:08Speaker 2: you know, you.
- 37:09Speaker 1: Get down oh one, you're like, man, we gotta weak
- 37:11Speaker 1: game two or you know.
- 37:12Speaker 2: So, yeah, I agree, And I wouldn't be shocked, honestly,
- 37:16Speaker 2: because that's just how we do it, you know.
- 37:18Speaker 1: And I wouldn't be shocked if it was, you.
- 37:21Speaker 2: Know, we're up one zip and then it's two to
- 37:24Speaker 2: two going to game five, we lose a game at
- 37:26Speaker 2: home two, you know, I mean, it is what it is.
- 37:28Speaker 1: I agree with you. I think the you know, game
- 37:32Speaker 1: six would be the earliest, and it might be like
- 37:36Speaker 1: last year where we got up.
- 37:37Speaker 2: To you know, it would not might be, but it
- 37:39Speaker 2: would have to probably if we close it out in
- 37:41Speaker 2: game six, we'd probably have to win the first two,
- 37:46Speaker 2: just because that's just how it feels like it. But yeah,
- 37:50Speaker 2: to win the series that I really feel like it
- 37:52Speaker 2: does have to.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Be one one. I think, you know, we're on the
- 37:55Speaker 1: same page with that, and.
- 37:56Speaker 3: I think to win game one Chris you're gonna probably
- 37:59Speaker 3: need overtime. It's just it's gonna be an uphill battle
- 38:05Speaker 3: every single even your home games you might have a
- 38:07Speaker 3: better chance, but I mean game one and game two
- 38:10Speaker 3: in this series, uh, talk about uphill battle for a win.
- 38:14Speaker 3: It to me, the way I'm seeing it, uh, just
- 38:19Speaker 3: the way it's being painted in the media, the way
- 38:22Speaker 3: you know, uh, the bright lights of LA and all
- 38:26Speaker 3: that stuff. To me, it just feels like, Man, I mean,
- 38:30Speaker 3: it's gonna be to get one win out of there.
- 38:33Speaker 3: Who That's why it's gotta be. It's gotta be Game
- 38:36Speaker 3: one and you gotta win it o t or you know,
- 38:38Speaker 3: I don't I don't think any team. I don't think
- 38:40Speaker 3: you're gonna win that game ninety nine ninety seven. I
- 38:44Speaker 3: mean I think it's gonna be you know, one twenty
- 38:48Speaker 3: you know, one twenty five to one, twenty two overtime,
- 38:52Speaker 3: overtime win. I mean just that has to be that.
- 38:57Speaker 2: Yeah, And it just it really comes down to like,
- 39:00Speaker 2: can we play make enough? Can we take advantage of
- 39:04Speaker 2: what we have on our team? Like we said, trying
- 39:07Speaker 2: to expose Luke at times. I don't want them to
- 39:09Speaker 2: getting stuck with that because you don't want to go
- 39:12Speaker 2: ISO too much either. We know if off Randall and
- 39:16Speaker 2: ant sticking to the io too much. Now, if it's
- 39:19Speaker 2: one on one with Randall and he's like twenty feet
- 39:23Speaker 2: in the basket, I like that. He's really pretty good
- 39:25Speaker 2: there and he either draws the attention or it takes
- 39:27Speaker 2: into the hole and he usually at least once or
- 39:30Speaker 2: twice the game he'll get a fouled on an offensive rebound.
- 39:33Speaker 1: But we're more equipped to shoot threes. We were top
- 39:37Speaker 1: seven in three point attempts and makes, and we were
- 39:41Speaker 1: also top seven in defending the three in the three
- 39:47Speaker 1: point percentage.
- 39:49Speaker 2: So and they like to take a lot of threes,
- 39:52Speaker 2: you know, drive and dish, and you know they basically.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Have two tall ass point guards. Is what it comes
- 39:58Speaker 1: down to, Lebron, Luca, And.
- 40:01Speaker 2: I gotta admit, like I do think it'll be a
- 40:04Speaker 2: six or seven game series. Like you said, the free throws,
- 40:10Speaker 2: I think that'll be really just fouls and general fall problems.
- 40:14Speaker 2: But if we do get some bigs and fall problems,
- 40:16Speaker 2: if Randal gets a problem, fall problems, we got nast
- 40:19Speaker 2: if Rudy, you know, so, I mean we're good to
- 40:21Speaker 2: go there. But I just hope we don't try to
- 40:26Speaker 2: like as much as I want to take, you know,
- 40:28Speaker 2: advantage Luka, but I don't want to overhunt them either,
- 40:30Speaker 2: because then all of a sudden, it's six seconds left
- 40:33Speaker 2: in the shock.
- 40:33Speaker 1: Clock, and you know they're gonna be in the lane.
- 40:36Speaker 1: You know they're gonna be that's the thing They're gonna blitz.
- 40:39Speaker 1: They're gonna play zone. I mean should if they can
- 40:43Speaker 1: play faster.
- 40:44Speaker 2: It's not that they play fast as far as get
- 40:47Speaker 2: the rebound and run, but it just hit Luca and
- 40:51Speaker 2: Lebron are really good at pushing that ball, like they'll
- 40:54Speaker 2: get the rebound and throw it right down the court,
- 40:56Speaker 2: you know, and so that that's something that we're gonna
- 40:58Speaker 2: We can't give them easy buckets and all that. But
- 41:02Speaker 2: I just hope the structure of the offense making the
- 41:06Speaker 2: right decisions and getting the best shot available, you know,
- 41:11Speaker 2: in the last couple of minutes. We can't have the
- 41:14Speaker 2: toughest shots down the stretch man.
- 41:17Speaker 1: It just it's so much harder to do with it.
- 41:21Speaker 1: I don't know. I just I gotta admit my prediction
- 41:26Speaker 1: is Lakers and seven. I just don't know if we
- 41:29Speaker 1: can overcome from.
- 41:30Speaker 2: A playmaking offensive efficiency, you know viewpoint when you have
- 41:37Speaker 2: Luca and Lebron that said, you know, like like we've
- 41:42Speaker 2: talked about we did in those two series when we
- 41:47Speaker 2: had time to rehearse this stuff. Basically it really helped
- 41:51Speaker 2: the whole team in especially AMP, because that's been like
- 41:55Speaker 2: you mentioned, that has been the biggest thing is when
- 41:58Speaker 2: they blitz them and it's a denner deifying it, identifying it,
- 42:01Speaker 2: and they're gonna throw different.
- 42:02Speaker 1: Stuff at them.
- 42:03Speaker 3: They're gonna have their they're.
- 42:04Speaker 2: Gonna be in a lane. They're not just gonna give
- 42:06Speaker 2: drives away because they know they don't have a rum protector.
- 42:08Speaker 2: So my prediction though, is a fun series, but just
- 42:15Speaker 2: offensively not being able to get it done, or just
- 42:19Speaker 2: you know, just playing a great series. We let's say
- 42:22Speaker 2: we do match him offensively, but they got Lebron look good,
- 42:26Speaker 2: you know.
- 42:27Speaker 1: So that that's my prediction Game seven. Unfortunately, I'm going
- 42:32Speaker 1: against my temperness. You know.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Another thing we have to mention is responding. That's a
- 42:39Speaker 3: thing like responding to adversity in the series, particularly Edwards
- 42:46Speaker 3: because he's on thin ice. I mean, if he misses
- 42:49Speaker 3: a game in this series, that's that's a forfeit.
- 42:52Speaker 1: He already said, I'm not saying anything.
- 42:54Speaker 3: It's like, and they're gonna take advantage of that, and
- 42:57Speaker 3: they're gonna I'm at that dude, you know, and try
- 43:01Speaker 3: to get in the rafts, will try to get in
- 43:02Speaker 3: his head. Everything's gonna show.
- 43:04Speaker 1: All about him. The last time they played, they were
- 43:07Speaker 1: pushing and Shoven I think pushed Vando.
- 43:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and that's gonna be huge. I mean, that's
- 43:17Speaker 3: the thing to you know, I hate to say it,
- 43:18Speaker 3: but it's like, you gotta you've got to watch the
- 43:22Speaker 3: flow of the officiating. You know, football, sometimes we know
- 43:25Speaker 3: the crew. You know, you might want to get familiar
- 43:28Speaker 3: with the crews for the different games because man, it's
- 43:32Speaker 3: gonna be I'm predicting it's gonna be roller coaster as
- 43:36Speaker 3: far as that's concerned, and probably not in our favor.
- 43:38Speaker 3: So there's another part of the uphill battle that you're
- 43:41Speaker 3: dealing with. As far as predictions. I kind of see
- 43:44Speaker 3: it going like, you know, you can win game one,
- 43:47Speaker 3: let's say, you know, I just see kind of the
- 43:50Speaker 3: ebb and flow of it. The flow of the series
- 43:52Speaker 3: is going to be like, you know, high hopes Wolves
- 43:55Speaker 3: come out and either lose by two points, in game
- 44:00Speaker 3: one and then maybe get game two, come back home,
- 44:04Speaker 3: you know, all the excitement in the world. Probably drop
- 44:07Speaker 3: one that you know, and then it's a toss up.
- 44:10Speaker 3: You get to to two in this series, which you
- 44:12Speaker 3: know during your prediction probably that it's gonna probably get
- 44:15Speaker 3: there two, two, three, one. Definitely see that. You know
- 44:19Speaker 3: it's huge. Each game is gonna be huge at that point,
- 44:22Speaker 3: So i'd like to get game one. I guess overall prediction,
- 44:27Speaker 3: I gotta probably I'm with you, man, I don't want to,
- 44:31Speaker 3: but I think Lakers six, Lakers seven, And if you
- 44:35Speaker 3: have gone to my head, I'll probably say Lakers and six.
- 44:38Speaker 2: Yeah, I can see that because we're not a good
- 44:40Speaker 2: home team either, right, and I can.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Just see there's always a home stinker, man, Like, yes,
- 44:47Speaker 3: you know all the series and it's unfortunate and hopefully
- 44:52Speaker 3: that changes this year. But game three or four it's
- 44:55Speaker 3: gonna be I'm not gonna say it's gonna blowout, but
- 44:57Speaker 3: just it's not gonna be what we think we hope
- 44:59Speaker 3: it would be. So yeah, I'm saying Lakers in six.
- 45:05Speaker 3: Obviously we don't want that, and you know, I think
- 45:07Speaker 3: this will know a lot more next time we talk. Yeah, obviously,
- 45:12Speaker 3: because we'll be four games in or you know, if
- 45:14Speaker 3: we go up two oh, maybe we we hit it.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Really, we're gonna do a two hour show.
- 45:19Speaker 3: If we go up to it, we're rolling. Uhuh. But
- 45:25Speaker 3: I mean even if we do get up two oh, Chris,
- 45:28Speaker 3: it's we're still gonna be, you know, biting our fingernails
- 45:31Speaker 3: because in this series, a two game lead now three
- 45:37Speaker 3: zero different story, but two os is not going to
- 45:41Speaker 3: be all that, you know, confetti and and champagne. But
- 45:45Speaker 3: it would be nice to lay that down. But yeah,
- 45:47Speaker 3: that's that's my prediction. Lakers six. I would like to
- 45:52Speaker 3: see the Wolves get Game one and let game two
- 45:58Speaker 3: kind of being experal, you know, Okay, you know, how
- 46:03Speaker 3: are the Lakers going to come out after a loss?
- 46:05Speaker 3: You get to see a lot of stuff that you
- 46:07Speaker 3: wouldn't see if the Lakers win Game one, because they'll
- 46:11Speaker 3: just do the same thing they did in Game one.
- 46:13Speaker 3: So I'd like to see that that. I'd like to
- 46:15Speaker 3: see the series flow that way and kind of give
- 46:18Speaker 3: us a better idea of exactly where where we have
- 46:23Speaker 3: advantages and where we don't.
- 46:26Speaker 2: Yeah, and you know last year they tried to put
- 46:29Speaker 2: or they not try. They they they did put Luca
- 46:33Speaker 2: on McDaniels, and what he has to do is not
- 46:37Speaker 2: just be the corner three. We've seen them. You know,
- 46:40Speaker 2: when those injuries happen. In the middle of the season,
- 46:43Speaker 2: he did start to thrive, and it was he's still
- 46:46Speaker 2: not hitting threeason, but he started to.
- 46:49Speaker 1: Be able to drive.
- 46:50Speaker 2: He started to be able to cut and get an
- 46:52Speaker 2: easy bucket. He started to get to his mid range game.
- 46:54Speaker 2: He's so long and lanky. He got a lot of
- 46:57Speaker 2: confidence off of that. So if you look early in
- 47:01Speaker 2: the season, even the first couple of months, our starting lineup,
- 47:04Speaker 2: like Ant was playing good, but that's about it.
- 47:09Speaker 1: You know, Conley was trying to shake the rust off.
- 47:12Speaker 1: But man, ever since like late December early January, he's
- 47:15Speaker 1: been shooting the lights out. If you look at Aunt's
- 47:17Speaker 1: already been in playoff mode in April twenty nine and
- 47:21Speaker 1: a half points, so he's ready to go, and you
- 47:25Speaker 1: know it is nice for him to get these five
- 47:27Speaker 1: days off so he can really, you know, leave it
- 47:30Speaker 1: on the courner. We've already seen that, Like you said
- 47:32Speaker 1: about the playoffs. Ant in the playoffs, he just he
- 47:35Speaker 1: does bring it to that next level.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Now we just got to in the coming years have
- 47:39Speaker 2: him do that, you know, at Washington on a Tuesday
- 47:43Speaker 2: night back to back.
- 47:44Speaker 1: You know, he's got to be able to do that.
- 47:46Speaker 1: But that's neither here or there. And then Roody since
- 47:52Speaker 1: he's been back, has just been freaking solid. Man. He
- 47:56Speaker 1: really has the same with Randall. He's played phenomenal, whether
- 47:59Speaker 1: you know because he was I'm Wired to score in
- 48:01Speaker 1: New York that he had to get that out of
- 48:02Speaker 1: the system, and he's just making the right play now.
- 48:05Speaker 1: And the Daniels is finding the group. The starting five
- 48:09Speaker 1: doesn't seem like it be all that great, and.
- 48:12Speaker 2: Maybe analytically you could find it not being but they've
- 48:15Speaker 2: played a lot of minutes together and they're all playing
- 48:19Speaker 2: really great right now the last chunk of weeks months.
- 48:23Speaker 1: And then the only really guy like Na's been playing
- 48:26Speaker 1: awesome lately or Na has in Dante. We just need
- 48:31Speaker 1: now Nas to act like it's mid January when he
- 48:35Speaker 1: was just shooting that thing like fifty two from three.
- 48:38Speaker 3: You know.
- 48:39Speaker 1: So we have the deeper team. We are very underrated.
- 48:44Speaker 1: I'm not like you said. We do have a path,
- 48:47Speaker 1: whether it's Golden State or Houston. I think we can
- 48:50Speaker 1: beat him. We match up great with Oka. See you know, so.
- 48:54Speaker 2: It does feel like that hump. And remember us saying, man,
- 48:57Speaker 2: if we get past Phoenix, bro, you know it enough.
- 49:00Speaker 2: You know so I think that that that confidence.
- 49:04Speaker 1: That we'd have to take out Luca and Lebron. I
- 49:09Speaker 1: I do agree. I would bet that we would be
- 49:13Speaker 1: in the conference final. And then when we get.
- 49:15Speaker 2: There, it's not that exact matchup like it was last year,
- 49:20Speaker 2: you know.
- 49:21Speaker 1: Okay, See damn good team.
- 49:22Speaker 2: They've been getting together for a while now and they've
- 49:25Speaker 2: earned their spot, no doubt.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Their point differential is nuts. The record was nuts. But
- 49:31Speaker 1: I'm not afraid of them, like, oh man, they'll beat
- 49:33Speaker 1: us five to one or five zero or you know,
- 49:36Speaker 1: I'm sorry, four to one or something like that. That's
- 49:40Speaker 1: a hell of a series. So it does kind of
- 49:42Speaker 1: open up if we could just somehow get over the hump.
- 49:47Speaker 3: Yeah, that's and it's a big hump, dude, I mean,
- 49:50Speaker 3: you got I mean, it really is. It's it's not
- 49:53Speaker 3: like it's it's I'm trying to think of something. No,
- 49:58Speaker 3: it's not. It's the Rocky Mountain. You know, we got
- 50:01Speaker 3: some nice mountains here.
- 50:02Speaker 2: You know, they're nice, you know, nice, nice elevation, but
- 50:06Speaker 2: they're not the Rocky.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Mountains, right, No, And to beat Luca and Lebron in
- 50:12Speaker 3: a premier series with the world watching, you know, that's
- 50:22Speaker 3: where I kind of go Lakers in six but ant
- 50:28Speaker 3: is rising, and you know, I was gonna ask you
- 50:31Speaker 3: a little bit. I seem to think that the Vincenzo
- 50:35Speaker 3: is kind of the X factor here. But then you
- 50:38Speaker 3: got me thinking a little bit about McDaniels defensively in
- 50:46Speaker 3: make Luca work hit threes. McDaniels, can he hit threes consistently?
- 50:53Speaker 3: That will help him? Rebounding is going to be huge
- 50:56Speaker 3: the old forgotten art because Rudy probably is not gonna
- 50:59Speaker 3: be like I don't assume he's gonna be on the
- 51:02Speaker 3: floor as much. He'll be in spots, So you're gonna
- 51:06Speaker 3: need rebounding on Randall McDaniels, you're gonna need it out
- 51:11Speaker 3: of nas Any.
- 51:14Speaker 1: Really don't think you think you'll play at least thirty minutes.
- 51:16Speaker 2: Though I don't know this is true. If if they're
- 51:21Speaker 2: killing us with a small lionep then I agree, but
- 51:23Speaker 2: I don't know. I think we'll see him more than
- 51:26Speaker 2: at least twenty.
- 51:28Speaker 3: I don't know because I think that's the thing. If
- 51:31Speaker 3: we put Rudy on the floor, that's gonna light the
- 51:34Speaker 3: Lakers up. I think they're gonna stretch it with the
- 51:39Speaker 3: two forwards they have. Uh, it's gonna be hard for
- 51:42Speaker 3: Rudy to find. They're gonna pull him to one side
- 51:44Speaker 3: or the other and shoot from the other side. So
- 51:48Speaker 3: you're gonna have interesting defensive matchups with him in there,
- 51:52Speaker 3: whereas if you had a smaller lineup who could stick
- 51:55Speaker 3: physically with those forwards and.
- 51:59Speaker 1: It's not as a deep defensive series. You're all right
- 52:02Speaker 1: about that, you know, you know.
- 52:05Speaker 3: I'm thinking twenty high twenties probably for minutes.
- 52:09Speaker 1: But yeah, we're right pretty close. Then.
- 52:11Speaker 3: Yeah, but he's not you know, he's not going to
- 52:13Speaker 3: play as much, especially if you get yourself into a
- 52:18Speaker 3: running situation or or they go really small on you.
- 52:21Speaker 3: So I think you're gonna need rebounding from guys who
- 52:25Speaker 3: don't usually you aren't called.
- 52:26Speaker 2: On to be you know that is mccaniels has improved
- 52:30Speaker 2: on these last couple of months.
- 52:31Speaker 1: He's really make jumps. Man, It's pretty crazy, but he has.
- 52:35Speaker 3: And then you got to decide also, oh, I gotta
- 52:38Speaker 3: go back to my X factory. To me, it's those two,
- 52:40Speaker 3: but mostly Devincenzo off the bench, yeah.
- 52:45Speaker 1: Instead of Conley. And then if you're gonna be in there, Conley,
- 52:49Speaker 1: if you're gonna get picked on by Reeves or whoever,
- 52:53Speaker 1: you better be knocking down your shots too.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Buddy, I agree, and defending the perimeter to the best
- 52:59Speaker 3: of your ability. And then the other point was uh
- 53:05Speaker 3: oh with uh, I think you know, let me think
- 53:09Speaker 3: about it. You going on for a second. I think
- 53:11Speaker 3: I forgot my point.
- 53:13Speaker 1: I mean, I don't really have much much left. It's
- 53:19Speaker 1: I could see, you know, like you said about the
- 53:21Speaker 1: small ball, I could definitely see we're ready to go
- 53:25Speaker 1: with it. And we have three guys off the bench
- 53:27Speaker 1: that you know, all or even gonna be in the lineup. Uh.
- 53:32Speaker 2: But we don't necessarily need to be some of the
- 53:34Speaker 2: best lineups. The best defensive lineup actually has uh now, competition.
- 53:43Speaker 2: You have to see who we are playing to with
- 53:45Speaker 2: these stats, I will say that, but Rudy, Nas, Nah,
- 53:51Speaker 2: de Vincenzo and uh not an ant those our best
- 53:57Speaker 2: defensive lineup. So and Nas has played so many minutes
- 54:02Speaker 2: with Rudy these last couple of years.
- 54:05Speaker 1: So it is a nice fit. That's why we generally
- 54:08Speaker 1: have done.
- 54:08Speaker 2: At least okay, if not very good when we do
- 54:11Speaker 2: have a power for it out because we.
- 54:13Speaker 1: Can just plug and play. But like I said, Nas
- 54:16Speaker 1: has been so up and down since January that you know,
- 54:20Speaker 1: he really has to get together. And they did make.
- 54:23Speaker 2: A really good point on the Dane More podcasts of
- 54:26Speaker 2: even getting off the ball early and moving it, something
- 54:29Speaker 2: that he did better than Cad sometimes.
- 54:33Speaker 1: When he's frustrated like this. He hasn't even been doing
- 54:37Speaker 1: that lately.
- 54:38Speaker 2: So yeah, I mean when you can go eight deep,
- 54:42Speaker 2: like for sure eight deep, and I do like how.
- 54:48Speaker 1: Finch does say, hey man, this lineup's working. We're gonna
- 54:52Speaker 1: go with it for the next four or five minutes
- 54:54Speaker 1: through it, you know, so it could be any three
- 54:56Speaker 1: of them, It could be all three of them in
- 54:57Speaker 1: the lineup, you know.
- 54:58Speaker 3: Yeah, to remember my my point was also a rooty point,
- 55:01Speaker 3: was they're gonna go at him, uh to gather fouls.
- 55:06Speaker 3: They're gonna go at him offensively, driving to the to
- 55:11Speaker 3: the bucket and try to get him and foul trouble
- 55:15Speaker 3: if you try to play him. So I think that
- 55:16Speaker 3: also reduces minutes a bit. But yeah, that was that. Yeah,
- 55:22Speaker 3: that was the other pint I was trying to say.
- 55:24Speaker 3: But yeah, I mean, on a positive note, you can
- 55:29Speaker 3: win the series by playing good defense, not turning the
- 55:33Speaker 3: ball over, recognizing what they're throwing at him and reacting
- 55:39Speaker 3: to it well, shooting the ball well, and just stick
- 55:44Speaker 3: to itiveness, just refusing to lose because you're gonna need
- 55:47Speaker 3: to do that. And you gotta keep your head. Obviously
- 55:49Speaker 3: we brought that up, but you got to keep your
- 55:51Speaker 3: head through the through the down times, because there's gonna
- 55:54Speaker 3: be throughout courses of every game, there's gonna be questionable calls.
- 55:58Speaker 3: There's gonna be you know, ton of stuff. So yeah,
- 56:01Speaker 3: they got to keep their head and and and and play,
- 56:04Speaker 3: you know, the best of their ability. And maybe you
- 56:07Speaker 3: get an off night from from Luca or off night
- 56:09Speaker 3: from Lebron, or maybe they're not playing well together, or
- 56:12Speaker 3: maybe you can cast some kind of friction between them
- 56:14Speaker 3: throughout a series. You just never know.
- 56:16Speaker 1: But yeah, stuff you can too, you know, like at
- 56:20Speaker 1: least make it a tough shot. Both those guys can
- 56:23Speaker 1: make tough shots, but let's make them make them, you know,
- 56:26Speaker 1: instead of just not you know, making it tough on them.
- 56:30Speaker 3: So if they're going to win it and make them earn.
- 56:32Speaker 1: It, Yes, exactly, And that kind of comes down to
- 56:36Speaker 1: how you.
- 56:37Speaker 2: Described the free throws in the in the penalties, in
- 56:41Speaker 2: the falls.
- 56:42Speaker 1: I do actually kind of feel like that's how it's
- 56:45Speaker 1: going to turn out as well, where we played up.
- 56:48Speaker 2: To their standard, and you know, I still think that
- 56:53Speaker 2: would be a positive as long as we executed in
- 56:56Speaker 2: the last five minutes a game and in the two
- 57:00Speaker 2: Just like Aunt has gotten better at the Adobe stretches
- 57:04Speaker 2: this year where he got to the get you know,
- 57:06Speaker 2: to the.
- 57:07Speaker 1: Line fourteen times sixteen times, and shit he even had
- 57:11Speaker 1: one that he I think he went to twenty or
- 57:13Speaker 1: twenty one. But the way he he draws a fall
- 57:17Speaker 1: going into a crowd and getting hit a lot, whereas
- 57:21Speaker 1: he doesn't jump and always draw the fall. Sometimes to
- 57:25Speaker 1: get the shot off, he'll go away from the defender
- 57:29Speaker 1: to get it off. So he doesn't he doesn't flop,
- 57:32Speaker 1: and he doesn't, but he doesn't draw content considering how
- 57:38Speaker 1: like big he is as a as a guard, he doesn't.
- 57:42Speaker 2: That's not his game per se, to draw falls the
- 57:46Speaker 2: way the top say five to Chris Paul's and the
- 57:50Speaker 2: hardens and all these.
- 57:51Speaker 1: Where they can just pick you apart and they know, hey.
- 57:53Speaker 2: We're about to be in the bonus, all right, do
- 57:55Speaker 2: if you put your hand there, I'm just gonna raise
- 57:57Speaker 2: the ball and that's a foul.
- 57:59Speaker 1: Like he know, they know how to control.
- 58:01Speaker 2: The game, and that is something that if we can
- 58:04Speaker 2: get aunt to the line eight times a game, that
- 58:08Speaker 2: would be huge too.
- 58:11Speaker 1: But just so the audience knows, to be honest with you,
- 58:15Speaker 1: if it is one to one, right, there's a good
- 58:18Speaker 1: chance we'll do a game because they spread these first
- 58:20Speaker 1: series out so everything could be televised. So there's an
- 58:23Speaker 1: outside chance we come back next Thursday, but more than
- 58:28Speaker 1: likely it'll be not this Monday, but the Monday after that.
- 58:33Speaker 1: I didn't want to say that before we before we
- 58:35Speaker 1: shut this pubby down. Sir.
- 58:38Speaker 3: Yeah, sounds good. I think that's a good plan. And look,
- 58:40Speaker 3: let's hope we can get game one and and work
- 58:44Speaker 3: on a game two. A. You know, I'm not expecting
- 58:48Speaker 3: to come home too and oh here, but if that happened,
- 58:53Speaker 3: If that happened, I'd have a lot more optimistic outview
- 58:57Speaker 3: on the on the series. But yeah, we'll talk to
- 59:00Speaker 3: you guys either Thursday or Monday, depending on how life
- 59:03Speaker 3: and how the series goes peace
