- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to artists on artists on artists on artists.
- 0:08Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, what's that sound? What are all these
- 0:11Speaker 1: people doing? Oh no, it's a flash mob. That's right.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Today we sit down and talk to former flash mob artists.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Once a craze of the early twenty tens, people jumping
- 0:25Speaker 2: out in public to perform surprise dances, has since gone away,
- 0:30Speaker 2: but this truth is reuniting today.
- 0:34Speaker 3: You've seen them in malls, you've seen them in airports,
- 0:37Speaker 3: you've seen them in malls. But now you're going to
- 0:40Speaker 3: see them together reminiscing on some of their favorite dances,
- 0:44Speaker 3: some of their favorite flashes, and some of their favorite mobs.
- 0:48Speaker 4: So gather around, Uh oh what's that? And listen up.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Hodavers three because it's a beautiful night.
- 1:06Speaker 5: We're looking for something.
- 1:10Speaker 3: Hey, I think I'm getta marry you. Yes, yes, oh gosh,
- 1:20Speaker 3: oh one and two and three and up and down
- 1:24Speaker 3: and up and over over up and smile and fans
- 1:28Speaker 3: remember that?
- 1:29Speaker 1: Yes, yes, I remember?
- 1:31Speaker 5: Oh is everyone?
- 1:33Speaker 1: Oh god, Oh my gosh, h hello everyone.
- 1:39Speaker 6: I freaking miss you, bitches.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I miss you bitches so freaking much, miss bitches.
- 1:45Speaker 5: But I think about this time all the.
- 1:49Speaker 2: Time, over over up and two hands, one hand right
- 1:53Speaker 2: pop left pop, Think I'm gonna marry you?
- 1:57Speaker 7: Yes?
- 1:58Speaker 3: Remember remember when we did that for Ramon and Diego's proposal.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Oh my god.
- 2:04Speaker 1: What a magical performance that was, and what a magic.
- 2:08Speaker 2: Thing because they were in the group and we were
- 2:11Speaker 2: able to give what we do for other couples.
- 2:15Speaker 5: Back to them.
- 2:16Speaker 1: The only fundamental problem that I thought was is that
- 2:19Speaker 1: they expected it. It was really hard to flash mob
- 2:23Speaker 1: was coming.
- 2:24Speaker 6: They look.
- 2:25Speaker 3: So that was what was so crazy about it is
- 2:27Speaker 3: we had to do so much work so they wouldn't
- 2:30Speaker 3: expect you remember the prosthetic.
- 2:32Speaker 5: Remember the car accident. We don't know.
- 2:37Speaker 4: A flash mob within the flash mob community is just
- 2:41Speaker 4: I mean, it's the cream of the cross.
- 2:43Speaker 6: It's inception.
- 2:44Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 2:44Speaker 3: We paired with that group that does junk driving assemblies
- 2:47Speaker 3: as well, so they thought it was a really horrible
- 2:49Speaker 3: accident and then yeah, and.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Then surprise, it's it's a proposal.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Actually dead here, nobody's drunk, we're just dancing. It was
- 3:00Speaker 1: also a blast.
- 3:01Speaker 2: The flash bob community is you know, they're it's it's
- 3:05Speaker 2: pretty inside baseball, and they're pretty hypercritical of their own
- 3:09Speaker 2: you know, they'll they'll if they smell, a burnt lead off,
- 3:14Speaker 2: a burnt tip off.
- 3:15Speaker 5: They're done, They're out there, I mean no longer in.
- 3:19Speaker 4: We have so much to talk about because just that,
- 3:22Speaker 4: even just that, maybe like I was in a Wells
- 3:24Speaker 4: Fargo yesterday and the music was a little bit louder
- 3:27Speaker 4: than the last song. Number one, I went where are they?
- 3:31Speaker 3: Number one place that triggers me Wells Fargo's number two
- 3:34Speaker 3: grocery stores and then number three water parks because those
- 3:37Speaker 3: are the songs we used to use for flash mobs.
- 3:39Speaker 4: And number four malls with a fountain.
- 3:42Speaker 1: Oh yeah, Oh my gosh. If I ever see a quad,
- 3:47Speaker 1: if I'm ever walking through a quad, it's like came
- 3:50Speaker 1: on from me. It's like I get the tangling. I'm like,
- 3:53Speaker 1: where is everybody where? Get me away from the quad?
- 3:55Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 3:56Speaker 5: Absolutely, guys, I haven't been to a quad since.
- 3:59Speaker 1: Guys.
- 3:59Speaker 3: We're getting into our old ways us crazy mofos.
- 4:02Speaker 6: I miss you so match, guys.
- 4:07Speaker 3: I do.
- 4:08Speaker 5: It has been so long. I'm losing my mine think
- 4:13Speaker 5: about how fun this fucking time was.
- 4:18Speaker 1: Guys.
- 4:18Speaker 3: We have to introduce ourselves because we know who we
- 4:21Speaker 3: are and.
- 4:22Speaker 4: We have to Like, I think it'll be fun for
- 4:24Speaker 4: people like let's talk about who we were and who
- 4:26Speaker 4: we are now. Like let's just yeah and maybe.
- 4:29Speaker 3: Give a little res a little resume of the types
- 4:31Speaker 3: of fake people you used to play when you're in
- 4:33Speaker 3: the mo.
- 4:34Speaker 1: That's good, like you're type casting, give me a res.
- 4:40Speaker 2: Okay, Well, I'm I'm Shandra D and I was.
- 4:49Speaker 4: She loves Greece. She loves Greece.
- 4:51Speaker 5: And I love Greece. I am obsessed with Greece. That
- 4:56Speaker 5: was kind of my big reveal. Most of the time,
- 4:58Speaker 5: I would go.
- 5:00Speaker 2: From balloon animal, pushcart operator or like ice cream truck
- 5:07Speaker 2: pressure like I was like a vendor. I chose park
- 5:11Speaker 2: vendor as my alias. And then as soon as those
- 5:15Speaker 2: beats started, I ripped off my jumpsuit of whatever it was,
- 5:21Speaker 2: and I was full sandy for grease in underneath, and
- 5:27Speaker 2: I busted out moves and I got addicted to dance
- 5:32Speaker 2: ever since my cousin's Bob Mitzvah I was in. This
- 5:38Speaker 2: is sad for you, you know, I know, well I
- 5:42Speaker 2: did get sad thinking about it.
- 5:44Speaker 5: Was the happiest I've ever been on that dance floor.
- 5:47Speaker 2: I was like fourteen, and my cousin, you know, was
- 5:51Speaker 2: just dancing and all of our family members and all
- 5:53Speaker 2: of our cousins were just doing the Cupid shuffle and
- 5:55Speaker 2: it was, I think, the happiest I've ever been.
- 5:59Speaker 5: And hold on actually thinking about them.
- 6:02Speaker 1: She's crying, but go ahead. What do you want to know?
- 6:04Speaker 5: No, no, I loved it. I'd love for you to
- 6:06Speaker 5: go ahead, because I'm so sorry.
- 6:08Speaker 4: I did not know you were even cry. I didn't.
- 6:12Speaker 5: It's happy though, it's happy.
- 6:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I just wanted to say. I didn't realize. Are
- 6:16Speaker 4: we all only children?
- 6:19Speaker 1: Wait?
- 6:20Speaker 6: Wait?
- 6:21Speaker 1: Yeah, wait what?
- 6:22Speaker 6: Hold on a minute, Well, but wait, I want to clear.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I want to clarify only children, but we have cousins
- 6:27Speaker 3: we consider siblings, yes.
- 6:29Speaker 6: Yes, yes, wait really what wait? No?
- 6:35Speaker 1: What?
- 6:36Speaker 6: Wait?
- 6:36Speaker 4: No way, how.
- 6:37Speaker 1: Many cousins do you guys consider siblings?
- 6:40Speaker 6: Seventeen?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah, but my whole dad's extended family.
- 6:44Speaker 3: Yeah, it's just like I had siblings like a normal
- 6:46Speaker 3: person would have siblings.
- 6:47Speaker 6: I had seventeen of them. Well, I'm just normal like you. Yeah,
- 6:51Speaker 6: I'm just.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Like anyone with siblings. I'm super close. I see my
- 6:55Speaker 2: siblings four times a year, and I can check out
- 6:58Speaker 2: from the relationship any time I want.
- 7:00Speaker 4: Said, and I'm so sorry and rended you Shandred. I
- 7:04Speaker 4: just realized.
- 7:04Speaker 5: I was like, I've already forgotten about it.
- 7:06Speaker 4: I was like, I was like every okay, great. I
- 7:11Speaker 4: was like every flashmob artist I've ever met my life
- 7:13Speaker 4: is an only child but has so many cousins. And
- 7:16Speaker 4: you said you were at that dance with cousins.
- 7:20Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, it was exactly like that.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And know it's spurred this, like it's spurred this. Dare
- 7:28Speaker 2: I see sort of dare I say sort of like
- 7:31Speaker 2: dancing Ben say it?
- 7:34Speaker 6: Yeah, you can say it. We can say it like
- 7:37Speaker 6: we're we're flash mob. We can.
- 7:40Speaker 4: We can say it if anyone can, it's us.
- 7:44Speaker 6: Everyone and anyone can. I think I think there's nothing
- 7:47Speaker 6: kind of wrong with that.
- 7:48Speaker 2: Dancing Bee anyway kept me dancing and I and I.
- 7:53Speaker 2: It wasn't until flash moobs became popular that I felt
- 7:56Speaker 2: like I really was able to actualize that like mean
- 7:59Speaker 2: or that like pumping heart that I felt ever since
- 8:02Speaker 2: that day and then all of a sudden it was like.
- 8:04Speaker 5: Whoa, you two and we can do this anywhere.
- 8:10Speaker 1: This is there's a market. There's a market, there's a market.
- 8:13Speaker 1: It kind of like came around in twenty ten and
- 8:15Speaker 1: it was huge. It was absolutely huge that market. That's
- 8:19Speaker 1: what was so exciting about it.
- 8:20Speaker 6: It's incredible. You know.
- 8:22Speaker 1: Well, tell us who you are, though, Okay, I'm my
- 8:26Speaker 1: name is Deacon Brown. I am a big I was
- 8:32Speaker 1: huge flash mobber. I was kind of the characters that
- 8:35Speaker 1: would be you guys can probably tell by the way
- 8:37Speaker 1: I look. I played a lot of the professors or
- 8:41Speaker 1: businessmen running late. Yeah, because I kind of have an
- 8:45Speaker 1: energy all the time of what am I doing in
- 8:47Speaker 1: this quad? You know. So it's a bl and you
- 8:51Speaker 1: had a whole life as a professor. Well, yes, thank you.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So I am a deacon and a professor. Professor Deacon Brown,
- 8:59Speaker 1: I use two things. I work at the Episcopal church
- 9:03Speaker 1: near my house, and I also teach at a a
- 9:08Speaker 1: two year university. It's a fantastic university. I teach Arts
- 9:13Speaker 1: administration and Becoming One with Yourself. It's a fun class.
- 9:17Speaker 1: I just started this semestery and I want to give.
- 9:19Speaker 6: A shout out to you. Did you say becoming one
- 9:22Speaker 6: with yourself?
- 9:23Speaker 1: Yes? Becoming one with yourself. It's a fun little class.
- 9:28Speaker 1: You guys have to sign up.
- 9:29Speaker 6: I want to take your class. I want to take
- 9:31Speaker 6: your sign twelve dollars.
- 9:34Speaker 1: It's twelve dollars to sign up for my two years.
- 9:36Speaker 6: Not even go where twelve dollars. You know, I'm not sure.
- 9:41Speaker 1: I'm just a professor.
- 9:42Speaker 3: Deacon, Okay, I have to say. I mean the way
- 9:47Speaker 3: that you use ministry in life. I mean some of
- 9:49Speaker 3: my favorite kind of deacons and and the way you kind.
- 9:53Speaker 6: Of emphasiz favorite deacons. Yeah, one of my favorite deacons.
- 9:56Speaker 5: They favorite deacons.
- 9:58Speaker 6: Go okay, well, Deacon you stop.
- 10:01Speaker 3: You are so Deacon Taylor who lives over on Central Avenue,
- 10:06Speaker 3: I know him, He's fantastic. Deacon Williamson, who is New Orleans,
- 10:10Speaker 3: deacon kind of a funky guy.
- 10:13Speaker 6: Fun uh Dinkin, Deacon Dinkin.
- 10:18Speaker 4: Deacon Dinkin's a drunk.
- 10:20Speaker 6: He's a drunk and he's really funny.
- 10:22Speaker 1: But he gets on that pulpit and he goes.
- 10:26Speaker 5: And sometimes drunk are better.
- 10:28Speaker 3: And Deacon William aspra Cream of Boston, who we don't
- 10:32Speaker 3: need to talk about.
- 10:35Speaker 6: But what I wanted to say, Deacon is I.
- 10:38Speaker 3: Love the way that you I love the way that
- 10:42Speaker 3: you embody like this spirituality.
- 10:45Speaker 6: And I have friends that went to the spirituality club
- 10:51Speaker 6: that used.
- 10:51Speaker 3: To run at that community college, and it's so fun
- 10:55Speaker 3: because I know you really commit to these people, but
- 10:57Speaker 3: they're only there for two years, so you have to
- 10:59Speaker 3: kind of you have have to like really impress.
- 11:01Speaker 1: This religiousness, has got to really push it on them.
- 11:04Speaker 1: And I take any chance I can because we have
- 11:06Speaker 1: open arms at the Episcopal Church. We are welcoming anyone, anytime,
- 11:10Speaker 1: and we're just so happy that if you're interested, come
- 11:13Speaker 1: on down. And you know, I'm not allowed to really
- 11:16Speaker 1: proselytize from my classroom because I'm a professor and I'll
- 11:20Speaker 1: get fired. But I just try to give them a
- 11:23Speaker 1: warm energy and if they're interested and open, they'll come
- 11:26Speaker 1: to me. And and my favorite time is some of
- 11:28Speaker 1: your friends come up to me and they go, you
- 11:30Speaker 1: do the dance mobs? Yes, do the dancing mob?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Yes, because my as you guys know, my friends came
- 11:36Speaker 3: to all the flash mops.
- 11:38Speaker 6: They weren't in the flash mob. You just would let
- 11:39Speaker 6: them in, but they came to all of them.
- 11:42Speaker 1: They gave it away every time.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Yes, I had to be like, be chilly, chilly, chill,
- 11:47Speaker 3: this isn't a theater performance.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Well, you introd people don't know.
- 11:51Speaker 4: You can't have fans as a flash moob because.
- 11:55Speaker 6: Well I'll introduce myself.
- 11:57Speaker 2: The only way that they could be is if they
- 11:59Speaker 2: are in a way part of the performance, exactly, if
- 12:02Speaker 2: they're pretending that the performance is not about to happen,
- 12:05Speaker 2: just like we are.
- 12:06Speaker 5: They're effectively in the group. And that's kind of what
- 12:08Speaker 5: we kept trying to tell you.
- 12:10Speaker 6: Yes, well, and if you would have let them in right.
- 12:12Speaker 3: It was a little bit of a standoff because I said,
- 12:15Speaker 3: these guys are going to spoil this unless you let
- 12:16Speaker 3: them in. And I said, that's extortion. That's what you
- 12:18Speaker 3: guys would say to me. You guys are getting in.
- 12:22Speaker 4: It's definition, it's the definition of it.
- 12:25Speaker 6: But I will introduce myself.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Hi, everybody, my name is Bunton Crisworthy, Guilfoyle Mount and
- 12:30Speaker 3: I am so happy to.
- 12:32Speaker 6: See you guys here today and it is so fun to.
- 12:35Speaker 3: Talk to everybody. I got involved. I was the youngest
- 12:40Speaker 3: member of the flash mob. I answered a crigslist ad
- 12:43Speaker 3: for a part time job.
- 12:45Speaker 1: I was.
- 12:45Speaker 3: My parents said, you can't grow up to be a
- 12:48Speaker 3: musical theater guy. It's not going to happen. You need
- 12:50Speaker 3: to get some sort of job to learn some skills.
- 12:53Speaker 3: And I said, well, I'll turn that back on you.
- 12:55Speaker 3: Mummy and Diddy and I'm going to go ahead and
- 12:57Speaker 3: get a part time job as being in a flash mob.
- 12:59Speaker 3: And so that's how I got involved. I was the
- 13:03Speaker 3: only one in my high school working at the flash mob.
- 13:05Speaker 3: I was the youngest guy in the flash bob, so
- 13:07Speaker 3: I was playing a lot of this student. I was
- 13:09Speaker 3: playing a lot of the young guy.
- 13:10Speaker 1: I actually ate it so well. Yeah, and I played
- 13:13Speaker 1: it so well.
- 13:14Speaker 5: You know, we hacky Sack were insufferable.
- 13:18Speaker 6: Thank you.
- 13:19Speaker 3: And I also, you know, it's funny because you know
- 13:21Speaker 3: we're I was a little younger. I was seventeen at
- 13:23Speaker 3: the time when we were part of it, but I
- 13:25Speaker 3: was I was seventeen, but I could play.
- 13:28Speaker 6: I could pass as eight. So I was playing a
- 13:30Speaker 6: lot of little boys.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I was playing a lot of big lollipop children, you know,
- 13:34Speaker 3: as kind of the technical term you were.
- 13:36Speaker 1: It's what we say a flash mob eight, where it.
- 13:39Speaker 3: Was a flash mob eight where you don't realize you
- 13:43Speaker 3: should be looking for me, but if you were to
- 13:46Speaker 3: look at me, you would say, something's a little off about.
- 13:48Speaker 6: That eight year eight year old.
- 13:50Speaker 1: But I was really clearly look seventeen.
- 13:52Speaker 2: Well to delay in the city too, because there are
- 13:56Speaker 2: new York eights, but those are more like Chicago.
- 13:59Speaker 5: Seven year olds.
- 14:03Speaker 1: Is such a Chicago seven it's so easy.
- 14:07Speaker 4: What you do so well, and what you do so
- 14:10Speaker 4: well is like a flash mob child needs to be
- 14:16Speaker 4: convincing by itself, like in the mall walking by itself,
- 14:19Speaker 4: but it can't look alarming, like that's a kid by himself.
- 14:23Speaker 4: It has to look like a kid, but you can't
- 14:26Speaker 4: be like, why is that kid alone? It has to
- 14:28Speaker 4: be like, like really convincingly almost an adult. So you
- 14:31Speaker 4: just kind of understand that the kids alone because it's
- 14:33Speaker 4: well kind of an adult.
- 14:34Speaker 3: Because we needed a kid, but we didn't have the
- 14:36Speaker 3: cast to give me a mummy or a Diddy, so
- 14:38Speaker 3: it was really difficult. Very frequently, it had to look
- 14:42Speaker 3: like it's okay that this little kid's alone, because we
- 14:44Speaker 3: don't want the mark, the person that's going to be
- 14:46Speaker 3: surprised with a flash mob to worry so much that
- 14:49Speaker 3: they're going to call the police, who are also flash mob.
- 14:51Speaker 6: At that point.
- 14:52Speaker 1: There's such a risk of being shot when you're doing
- 14:55Speaker 1: a flash momb.
- 14:57Speaker 3: It's a huge problem because it's a harming. What we're
- 15:00Speaker 3: doing is unnatural and also ungodly in many ways. So
- 15:03Speaker 3: it's alarming and it's scary and and you have to
- 15:06Speaker 3: make sure that it's the right environment.
- 15:09Speaker 6: But it was so fun.
- 15:11Speaker 3: I was the eye of everyone's envy in high school
- 15:15Speaker 3: because everyone wanted to be involved and I tried to
- 15:17Speaker 3: get them involved and you.
- 15:17Speaker 6: Wouldn't let them. And that's okay. And I look back
- 15:20Speaker 6: and I actually burned all.
- 15:21Speaker 3: My friendships with them, So I'm glad that they're not
- 15:24Speaker 3: here because it didn't work out well.
- 15:26Speaker 6: They all ended up being toxic.
- 15:29Speaker 3: Yeah, like everyone in high school was toxic.
- 15:33Speaker 6: I look back and I'm like, every single one of
- 15:35Speaker 6: them was toxic.
- 15:37Speaker 5: And that's so sad to hear, because I hear all
- 15:39Speaker 5: your girlfriends were toxic too.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Yeah, all my girlfriends are toxic. I finally found a
- 15:44Speaker 3: non toxic wife and I'm so happy with her.
- 15:47Speaker 4: It's hard to find not toxic people when you are
- 15:49Speaker 4: attracted to just like a toxic people.
- 15:51Speaker 3: Well, and I'm I'm attracted to passion, and passion is toxic,
- 15:56Speaker 3: so that's what's kind of hard.
- 15:59Speaker 4: That is so relatable. Yeah, hi, guys, I'm sorry, that's
- 16:05Speaker 4: so relatable.
- 16:07Speaker 6: Yeah, thank you for taking that again. Go ahead, I'm.
- 16:13Speaker 4: Breed Josephine Wilder, and I am just I don't I just,
- 16:19Speaker 4: I just I miss you guys so much. I love
- 16:21Speaker 4: you guys so much. I'm so grateful to be here.
- 16:24Speaker 4: I have since I was working at the Self Tanner
- 16:27Speaker 4: Bar in Tampa, I have Now I am general manager.
- 16:32Speaker 4: I basically run the whole place, which is huge. That's yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 4: thank you so much, thank you so much. Yeah. So
- 16:39Speaker 4: I'm basically like like the head honcho at that the
- 16:43Speaker 4: Self Tanner Place, and I really am so thankful for that.
- 16:46Speaker 4: And on my resume as the an our little mob,
- 16:49Speaker 4: I usually played the bitches sometimes the girls that would
- 16:53Speaker 4: like spill a drink on the person or I mean
- 16:57Speaker 4: there was a while where I was always like when
- 16:59Speaker 4: we did like a couple like engagement ones where I
- 17:02Speaker 4: was like trying to be like the the hot girl
- 17:04Speaker 4: at the beginning that was like or like the boss
- 17:07Speaker 4: or somebody that was like.
- 17:08Speaker 1: What's going on here, going like I don't like this.
- 17:13Speaker 4: I would start dancing yes, yes, because I think, like
- 17:16Speaker 4: what was really good about me is I have like
- 17:18Speaker 4: quite the grumpiness that comes out every once in a while.
- 17:21Speaker 4: And I use that right because it like to be
- 17:23Speaker 4: such a grumpy authority figure and be like either a
- 17:26Speaker 4: cop or a boss or like a mother and go
- 17:29Speaker 4: like what's going on here? And use my grump and
- 17:32Speaker 4: then start to dance. Has always been like a huge
- 17:35Speaker 4: part of it.
- 17:35Speaker 6: Oh my god, use your grump.
- 17:37Speaker 3: That was that bumper sticker that you were trying to
- 17:39Speaker 3: get sold, and then the badge and the and the
- 17:42Speaker 3: T shirts and the mods you sold sell those.
- 17:47Speaker 4: Well I made them. No, I made them out of
- 17:49Speaker 4: color me mine.
- 17:51Speaker 5: So I was like, this is a yeah, yeah, And
- 17:55Speaker 5: that's always because it just kept it kept balling off.
- 18:02Speaker 5: I was talking about the mrugs.
- 18:03Speaker 4: I was talking about the mugs, but also, well, I.
- 18:07Speaker 2: Don't know if you're aware of this, the bumpersickers were
- 18:09Speaker 2: made of play as well.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Because and this is the first time hearing of it,
- 18:13Speaker 4: do you have.
- 18:14Speaker 2: Some some supply chain issues? And I said that, and
- 18:18Speaker 2: I said that in twenty ten, and I stand by
- 18:20Speaker 2: supply chain.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I don't do that.
- 18:23Speaker 6: Grumpy.
- 18:24Speaker 4: I know, Grumpy do like grump.
- 18:27Speaker 6: This is the first time you're hearing this. I heard
- 18:28Speaker 6: you got blacklisted by car Max.
- 18:30Speaker 1: I heard that.
- 18:32Speaker 6: I heard that someone tried to sell a car back but.
- 18:34Speaker 3: They found out that you put a bumpersticker on their car,
- 18:37Speaker 3: they wouldn't buy the car.
- 18:39Speaker 4: Wow, I can't help if your car can't hold a
- 18:42Speaker 4: heavy bumper sticker.
- 18:44Speaker 1: Well, this is so this is what I loved about
- 18:46Speaker 1: you for. It was so interesting because you really used grump.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Grump was kind of your label. But you wouldn't. You
- 18:52Speaker 1: weren't ever actually grumpy as a person. You kind of
- 18:55Speaker 1: had a great face for grumpy, kind of like you'd
- 18:58Speaker 1: scrump it up. That's what it is.
- 19:00Speaker 4: Yeah, I just naturally, but yeah, you naturally do that.
- 19:04Speaker 1: You what's going on over there?
- 19:06Speaker 2: You laid the groundwork for Grumpy Cat to be as
- 19:10Speaker 2: successful as he was. You know, Grumpy Cat's owner came
- 19:13Speaker 2: to one of our flash bobs in the early days,
- 19:16Speaker 2: early days.
- 19:17Speaker 1: They were jud accidentally. It comes to you, It comes
- 19:25Speaker 1: to you.
- 19:26Speaker 6: I didn't want to ask how that lawsuits going.
- 19:29Speaker 4: It's it's pretty impossible to prove that I was doing
- 19:32Speaker 4: this before that cat did it. But I we won't
- 19:36Speaker 4: give up.
- 19:37Speaker 6: We won't give up.
- 19:40Speaker 4: It's been really hard and it's humiliating. Every time I
- 19:44Speaker 4: see that cat make that face in court, I go,
- 19:47Speaker 4: I did that face burst? Yeah, because they leave the
- 19:54Speaker 4: cat to court because they say this is the face
- 19:56Speaker 4: naturally right, And then and then when they put on
- 20:00Speaker 4: the stand and I smile because it's bre it's me Bri,
- 20:04Speaker 4: like I'm just like being normal. And then like they say,
- 20:07Speaker 4: like there's clearly you didn't invent this, and then it
- 20:10Speaker 4: makes me grump the.
- 20:16Speaker 5: Lawsuit because.
- 20:19Speaker 1: If you.
- 20:21Speaker 4: Guys have any tips on how I could prove that
- 20:24Speaker 4: I made that face up before the cat did, it
- 20:26Speaker 4: would help. But it's just it's pretty impossible.
- 20:29Speaker 6: Do you have Have you shown videos of our flash mobs? Yes,
- 20:33Speaker 6: but that for some reason, what's up?
- 20:40Speaker 4: They're not admissible into court because of copyright laws with
- 20:44Speaker 4: Bruno Mars songs, No.
- 20:49Speaker 1: The US that they can't use songs in court anymore
- 20:52Speaker 1: as evidence because they can't.
- 20:55Speaker 2: Play more than seven seconds of it and it takes
- 20:58Speaker 2: a few seconds for you to like get into Grubb
- 21:01Speaker 2: character court.
- 21:02Speaker 4: The court will then get demonetized on YouTube. Are making
- 21:05Speaker 4: all their money on you?
- 21:07Speaker 1: They make money? Yeah, it's crazy.
- 21:08Speaker 5: That's how the courts make money.
- 21:11Speaker 4: You know, and now we know, and now we know
- 21:17Speaker 4: we know, but can say I really wish I remember
- 21:20Speaker 4: there was a while where our troop was doing non
- 21:22Speaker 4: copyright songs and I missed that.
- 21:24Speaker 6: I really do.
- 21:25Speaker 1: Oh well, we were all kind of pitching in and
- 21:28Speaker 1: writing some songs. I had a couple originals and they're
- 21:31Speaker 1: so fun. It just didn't work as well because people
- 21:34Speaker 1: didn't know what the heck was going on.
- 21:36Speaker 4: Because people thought it was like like a regional music,
- 21:39Speaker 4: like a band.
- 21:40Speaker 5: Well that's what they think.
- 21:41Speaker 2: It's something original. Then they think they're supposed to like
- 21:44Speaker 2: watch as opposed to like let it happen to them.
- 21:48Speaker 3: So this is something that we used to learn from
- 21:52Speaker 3: our guru, God Rest her soul, the woman who started this,
- 21:55Speaker 3: the woman who was in charge of it, Everly, everly
- 21:59Speaker 3: and mount.
- 22:00Speaker 1: She was ever.
- 22:03Speaker 6: We loved her.
- 22:04Speaker 1: She was our queen.
- 22:05Speaker 6: She bear move bear and yeah, our rest and fees.
- 22:12Speaker 3: She gave up working for Wayfair and we consider her
- 22:16Speaker 3: dead because Wayfair is not where dreams happen.
- 22:20Speaker 1: So we just kind of where furniture happens. And she's
- 22:23Speaker 1: made that very clear to us.
- 22:24Speaker 3: And I think I think furniture is the opposite of dreams.
- 22:27Speaker 3: Like yeah, she's like she stopped she literally stopped this
- 22:31Speaker 3: because she was like.
- 22:32Speaker 6: I have to make money somehow, and she.
- 22:36Speaker 5: And she wanted enough.
- 22:38Speaker 1: The heart thing about a flash bob is who do
- 22:40Speaker 1: you pay? You pay? You pay everybody that was there,
- 22:46Speaker 1: and who pays for Where does the money come from,
- 22:50Speaker 1: who's paying who, and how do they have money.
- 22:53Speaker 4: I hate that those malls would be like, this is
- 22:55Speaker 4: really putting a lot of work on our sound guys
- 22:58Speaker 4: because they have to hire a sound guy just set
- 23:00Speaker 4: up a whole sound like and.
- 23:02Speaker 1: A lot of the time the last thing of them
- 23:04Speaker 1: all once is a flash mob. They know they are
- 23:07Speaker 1: and we say, could you give us some money for
- 23:09Speaker 1: that for that performance? They go absolutely not. You're on
- 23:11Speaker 1: private property.
- 23:12Speaker 6: You need to leave the red tape.
- 23:14Speaker 4: Yes, oh, the red tape because then they say, we'll
- 23:17Speaker 4: hire you if you could bring people into the mall.
- 23:19Speaker 4: So we will need to use this promo. We don't
- 23:22Speaker 4: promote and you can't know.
- 23:24Speaker 6: It's obviously you can't.
- 23:27Speaker 2: I can't remember because they had me on admin work
- 23:29Speaker 2: for like a while when I was put on administratively
- 23:32Speaker 2: from the flash bob and so I was doing a
- 23:35Speaker 2: lot of the scheduling and it was like.
- 23:40Speaker 6: And you took leave.
- 23:41Speaker 5: Yeah, I had to take leep because I felt like
- 23:44Speaker 5: it was my child, like my daughter.
- 23:47Speaker 6: Almost hear it so much. You said yeah, I heard
- 23:50Speaker 6: it so much.
- 23:51Speaker 2: That was practically my daughter like, I have to take administratively.
- 23:54Speaker 2: We're also going to go crazy.
- 23:55Speaker 4: No mothers are born in the ears anyway, keep going.
- 23:59Speaker 2: Exactly and I uh uh oh. It's you know, it's
- 24:05Speaker 2: like explaining to a baby when they're like, can you
- 24:07Speaker 2: bring an audience and it's like, obviously not.
- 24:11Speaker 5: Do you want a flash mom or do you not?
- 24:12Speaker 2: And so we ended up having designated gigs, like there
- 24:16Speaker 2: were different types.
- 24:17Speaker 5: Of gigs we would take. Some were US pay and
- 24:22Speaker 5: some were we pay.
- 24:24Speaker 2: As in, sometimes we had to pay to do the
- 24:27Speaker 2: gig in order to get the permit from the city.
- 24:29Speaker 1: To do it, US pay.
- 24:32Speaker 6: So was us get paid and then we paid, we paid.
- 24:38Speaker 1: It was just a shorthand US pay or we pay.
- 24:40Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean it just gets you get in the
- 24:42Speaker 4: weeds and you're like, we need a shorthand.
- 24:43Speaker 1: Those emails was great because it would say, you know,
- 24:46Speaker 1: like huge funeral flash mob, US pay or huge mall
- 24:50Speaker 1: flash mob we pay exactly do you guys remember saying huge?
- 24:54Speaker 4: They finally stopped saying why did you guys know?
- 25:01Speaker 1: It was over?
- 25:01Speaker 6: When they were advertising the gigs to us. That definitely
- 25:04Speaker 6: felt like it was like, oh, because they know that
- 25:06Speaker 6: it's going to be harder for us.
- 25:07Speaker 4: Yeah, I think it was over for me when like
- 25:09Speaker 4: I felt like administrative admin was like putting pressure on
- 25:12Speaker 4: me to like post on my Facebook wall and be like, Hey,
- 25:15Speaker 4: I might be at the Vans Off the Wall store today,
- 25:18Speaker 4: come right.
- 25:20Speaker 6: Yeah, that was weird.
- 25:21Speaker 3: And then there was there was this weird agreement that
- 25:23Speaker 3: we made with the twin Stone Mall in Pittsburgh, which was, uh,
- 25:28Speaker 3: they advertised that we that there might be a dance
- 25:31Speaker 3: sometime in the next year, and it was this really
- 25:35Speaker 3: weird thing where then like people were kind of showing
- 25:37Speaker 3: up and then they weren't expecting.
- 25:39Speaker 6: It, but they weren't not expecting it, you know what
- 25:41Speaker 6: I mean.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So it became this thing where you go to the
- 25:44Speaker 3: mall and I remember I was just there to pick
- 25:46Speaker 3: up a sweater.
- 25:47Speaker 6: From Zoomi's is a hoodie that zipped all the way
- 25:49Speaker 6: up through the hood and where those to go. Yeah,
- 25:52Speaker 6: you could order hoodies to go back then. I mean,
- 25:54Speaker 6: it's so different.
- 25:55Speaker 3: And and so now I was walking around the mall
- 25:58Speaker 3: and you walk in and it's everyone looks like a deer,
- 26:00Speaker 3: Like everyone's like looking at each other.
- 26:02Speaker 6: And it felt so conspiratorial.
- 26:04Speaker 3: It ruined the vibes of the all missus field shut
- 26:06Speaker 3: down because no one was hungry for a cookie.
- 26:08Speaker 4: It was holidays. It's a hostile environment.
- 26:12Speaker 6: Oh my god. Yeah, well there are times.
- 26:14Speaker 5: You didn't know who to trust.
- 26:15Speaker 6: But yeah, I think.
- 26:18Speaker 5: It was too much.
- 26:19Speaker 1: And two things really like cemented, like one Hamilton coming
- 26:22Speaker 1: out came over because it is just one giant flashbob.
- 26:26Speaker 6: It feels like that was that was d Day for
- 26:28Speaker 6: flash mobs.
- 26:29Speaker 2: Like you can talk about it and you actually trace
- 26:33Speaker 2: the end of it right to the premiere of Hamilton
- 26:35Speaker 2: in a way. We can talk about how Broadway took
- 26:38Speaker 2: influence from.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Us absolute and I've wanted to talk about this. I
- 26:42Speaker 1: actually am trying to get us class going because I'm
- 26:44Speaker 1: a professor. If you forget, I'm trying to get a
- 26:46Speaker 1: class going kind of studying how flash mobs influenced live theater.
- 26:50Speaker 4: Oh wait, I actually have to say. I wanted to
- 26:53Speaker 4: talk to you guys about joining my class action lawsuits
- 26:56Speaker 4: suing all of Broadway to so that they stole intellectual
- 26:59Speaker 4: property from Flower's interesting going to do it with the
- 27:02Speaker 4: It was my lawyer's idea who thought it was a
- 27:03Speaker 4: good idea to sue grumpy Cat.
- 27:05Speaker 3: Well, here's here's where I think I'd love to talk
- 27:08Speaker 3: about that at a later date.
- 27:10Speaker 4: Okay, we'll just pin it.
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, thank you so much, brain and one person class
- 27:15Speaker 1: action lawsuit.
- 27:16Speaker 6: I'm a hard ba I'm a hard maybe lawyer.
- 27:19Speaker 3: What I will say is, so if the death of
- 27:21Speaker 3: the flash mob was Hamilton, I would say the peak
- 27:23Speaker 3: of the flash mob was of course, and say it
- 27:26Speaker 3: with me the movie enchanted, How do you know?
- 27:29Speaker 6: And how does he know?
- 27:30Speaker 1: You love her?
- 27:31Speaker 6: Whatever the name of that fucking song is. I wasn't
- 27:33Speaker 6: listening to it. I was fishing it.
- 27:35Speaker 1: How do you know?
- 27:35Speaker 6: How did you know that you left?
- 27:37Speaker 2: For?
- 27:37Speaker 3: That?
- 27:38Speaker 1: Was they were?
- 27:39Speaker 3: So that was directly taking the flash mob lifestyle and
- 27:45Speaker 3: showing it to the mainstream in a way that we'd
- 27:46Speaker 3: never seen before.
- 27:48Speaker 1: Well, but also, I will say, because this kind of
- 27:50Speaker 1: leads me to my second point, because it does does.
- 27:54Speaker 1: But what it did was it gave the groundwork. It
- 27:58Speaker 1: gave the groundwork for regular people to do a flash
- 28:01Speaker 1: mob without us.
- 28:02Speaker 6: And that was the problem.
- 28:04Speaker 2: Yes, when they started doing their own and when brides
- 28:08Speaker 2: and Grooves and their and their bridal parties and I
- 28:10Speaker 2: see a.
- 28:11Speaker 1: Grandma genuinely start dancing to It's a Beautiful Night, But
- 28:16Speaker 1: I think I want to marry you. I ripped up
- 28:18Speaker 1: every single assignment that was in front of me, and
- 28:20Speaker 1: I had to give all the student bees because I
- 28:23Speaker 1: didn't know what to do because I had just ripped
- 28:24Speaker 1: them all up.
- 28:25Speaker 3: They don't know there's so many dangers to doing a
- 28:27Speaker 3: flash mob amateur, like you need professionals for this, And
- 28:30Speaker 3: we were trying to tell people because now we see
- 28:33Speaker 3: what happens, and you look outside and you see on
- 28:35Speaker 3: TikTok and all these people are doing these dances, but
- 28:37Speaker 3: for what, for who? And there's no fanfare, there's no joy.
- 28:40Speaker 3: They're so humdrum. I feel like I walked down the
- 28:42Speaker 3: street and I just see people doing flash mobs and
- 28:44Speaker 3: it's like there was no enjoyment like there used to
- 28:47Speaker 3: be because it's too commodified.
- 28:49Speaker 1: Well for me, it's become flashbombs have turned into mean
- 28:53Speaker 1: YouTube pranks, and I just cannot get behind you.
- 28:56Speaker 4: It's not who we are.
- 28:57Speaker 1: It's just not who we are.
- 28:59Speaker 5: It's not a culture of optimism.
- 29:00Speaker 2: And I feel like I felt the death knell when
- 29:03Speaker 2: we started that program where we would try and find
- 29:08Speaker 2: couples who felt like they were secure enough to get
- 29:11Speaker 2: engaged soon and try and persuade them to have a
- 29:17Speaker 2: flashbab proposal.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Well that was big, right, That was connected to that
- 29:20Speaker 3: MTV show we were trying to sell with that producer
- 29:22Speaker 3: that from Next and.
- 29:23Speaker 6: He was like, he was like rough.
- 29:26Speaker 4: That guy was rough.
- 29:27Speaker 6: He was he was physically rough. He was rugged, hug bleed. Yeah,
- 29:32Speaker 6: it's crazy, yes.
- 29:33Speaker 4: But you know I remember the nail on the coffin
- 29:35Speaker 4: for me was I think when we did that deal
- 29:37Speaker 4: with the guy who plays bad Grandpa, he's.
- 29:40Speaker 3: Bad ass, Johnny Knoxville badass, he's a jackass.
- 29:44Speaker 6: He's not badass.
- 29:45Speaker 4: You're so right, And that's.
- 29:47Speaker 2: When we started to be folded into the prank tent
- 29:50Speaker 2: and the tent became too big.
- 29:52Speaker 5: Because that's not who we are.
- 29:53Speaker 1: No, we're not prank'.
- 29:56Speaker 4: And suddenly I'm trying to find the door out of
- 29:58Speaker 4: the tent and I can't get.
- 30:00Speaker 1: Out of the tent. I didn't like that that badass guy.
- 30:04Speaker 6: I didn't like him jackass.
- 30:06Speaker 1: I didn't even like him one bit.
- 30:08Speaker 4: Wonder ass or something like that.
- 30:11Speaker 6: Tennessee, I don't Knoxville.
- 30:14Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, Timmy Idaho.
- 30:17Speaker 1: He didn't like that. I met up with him and
- 30:20Speaker 1: he said, oh yeah, we're doing a flash mob and
- 30:22Speaker 1: then he made me just drink a bunch of bad
- 30:24Speaker 1: milk and I didn't understand why, and I didn't like it.
- 30:27Speaker 6: Class big ass guys.
- 30:30Speaker 3: It's important we know his name because he is evil
- 30:33Speaker 3: and people need to be warned of him. So know
- 30:35Speaker 3: his name so mistakes don't happen again.
- 30:40Speaker 4: Okay, let's talk out what's really important. How are your guys'
- 30:43Speaker 4: bodies dancers?
- 30:45Speaker 5: Dancers? And I.
- 30:48Speaker 4: Like they say like that, I just like want to
- 30:51Speaker 4: check in with everyone's knees, how like as we get older,
- 30:54Speaker 4: Like I know, I went to a wedding recently and I,
- 30:58Speaker 4: I mean uptown funk came and I started doing one
- 31:01Speaker 4: of our routines just to like, you know, just to
- 31:03Speaker 4: do it and feel alive. And I was like, wow,
- 31:05Speaker 4: I am not the woman girl I used to be, right, Yeah,
- 31:10Speaker 4: you know, after my elbows.
- 31:11Speaker 3: Don't have that yeah, like yeah, after we stop flash mobbing,
- 31:16Speaker 3: I was like, you know what, I'm going to listen
- 31:19Speaker 3: to my body and I'm going to let.
- 31:20Speaker 6: My body do whatever it needs. And what my body
- 31:22Speaker 6: needed and loved was Nerds ropes and I love those things.
- 31:26Speaker 3: Yeah, it's been really nice. I've just been eating so
- 31:29Speaker 3: many Nerds ropes. You can catch me on the street
- 31:32Speaker 3: just one hanging out of my mouth like a freaking
- 31:34Speaker 3: whorm out of these seals nose. I love Nerds ropes.
- 31:38Speaker 3: Those things are so fun and they make me feel good.
- 31:41Speaker 5: Would you say that's like your main hobby since that
- 31:43Speaker 5: all this.
- 31:44Speaker 3: Ended, O'd say, number one thing I've been up to
- 31:46Speaker 3: is eating Nerds ropes and just kind of hanging out
- 31:48Speaker 3: watching TV, eating Nerds ropes and just kind of goofing
- 31:51Speaker 3: off to the max with my one.
- 31:53Speaker 4: That's crazy. That's interesting, Button because when you were younger
- 31:56Speaker 4: and we used work together, you were a big fun
- 31:57Speaker 4: dip guy.
- 31:58Speaker 6: I was a big fun dip And I said, you
- 32:00Speaker 6: guys can have them if you want. And you would say, no,
- 32:02Speaker 6: that's really gross.
- 32:04Speaker 1: You've been licking that. You've been licking the spoon of
- 32:08Speaker 1: the candy spoon stick.
- 32:09Speaker 3: I would say, I would say, here, you can borrow
- 32:11Speaker 3: my stick. There's still some stick left, and there's still
- 32:13Speaker 3: some powder left and lapsticks.
- 32:15Speaker 4: It's not bunt in.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Yeah. Now I gave up that that was a phase,
- 32:18Speaker 3: and uh, it was an interesting you know, I'm not
- 32:22Speaker 3: ashamed of my funded phase, but it's definitely not something I.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Go back to.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, I I personally, you know, I've kind of hung
- 32:31Speaker 2: up my dancing shoes for the most part. I do
- 32:34Speaker 2: a zoomba class here and there, But honestly, anytime like
- 32:37Speaker 2: Dynamite by Tyer Cruz.
- 32:39Speaker 5: Comes on, it's just like I get that feeling where
- 32:42Speaker 5: I want to do it again.
- 32:43Speaker 2: But I know, like I'm powered by a mob dancing
- 32:48Speaker 2: with me and on my own, it just feels sort
- 32:51Speaker 2: of like what's going on? But I you know, I've
- 32:55Speaker 2: put so much time and energy into my business that
- 32:57Speaker 2: I barely even have time to.
- 32:59Speaker 5: Think about it.
- 32:59Speaker 2: I'm I'm doing am I'm sure you guys have seen
- 33:04Speaker 2: me post about this a lollipop vending machine. I'm trying
- 33:08Speaker 2: to get lollipop vending machines, yeah, you know, airports and malls,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and I give you a little note.
- 33:14Speaker 6: I think they're just I think they're too small.
- 33:16Speaker 1: I think they're too just so small, those lollipops that
- 33:18Speaker 1: you're selling are so small too.
- 33:20Speaker 4: Sorry, because the videos understand the videos you post, the
- 33:24Speaker 4: claw can't even hold it. The vending machine claw can't
- 33:27Speaker 4: even hold the stick. It looks like it's trying to
- 33:29Speaker 4: like grab onto something thicker.
- 33:31Speaker 2: Right, It's about being precise, and you kind of have
- 33:33Speaker 2: to get really good at it.
- 33:35Speaker 5: So I'm hopeful.
- 33:36Speaker 1: I'm trying to build eight dollars a claw, three dollars
- 33:39Speaker 1: a claw. You don't call it a lollipop because legally
- 33:42Speaker 1: you can't. I just don't know if that's.
- 33:44Speaker 3: And is it a vending machine or a claw machine.
- 33:46Speaker 3: If you're putting it next to these vending machines, and
- 33:49Speaker 3: you know, I could just grab a bag of chips,
- 33:51Speaker 3: or I have to pay three dollars to potentially get
- 33:53Speaker 3: a lollipop, it's just not lucrative.
- 33:55Speaker 1: I think you.
- 33:56Speaker 2: Vending to buy a claw. You're vending to buy the
- 33:59Speaker 2: claw all that. Yet the lollipop these are like, these
- 34:03Speaker 2: are artisanal lollipops. They're like fresh sourced from like a
- 34:07Speaker 2: lollipop maker.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Fresh source meats. That's not fresh, freshly sourced, is it.
- 34:17Speaker 1: It's not that you bought it from a you bought
- 34:20Speaker 1: it fresh from a lollipop maker.
- 34:24Speaker 2: I'm so confused with what you're trying to tell me.
- 34:26Speaker 2: I don't I don't think you're making any sense, Sanja.
- 34:29Speaker 4: I also want to say you have to call them
- 34:31Speaker 4: suckers as someone who like understands legal stuff a lot.
- 34:35Speaker 4: If you call it a lollipop, those people are going
- 34:37Speaker 4: to come after you in.
- 34:37Speaker 1: A big, big, big.
- 34:42Speaker 6: So why would they come after her.
- 34:44Speaker 4: Because she's she's taking the word. No, it's their property.
- 34:49Speaker 1: That's what you have to get rid of, your lawyer.
- 34:53Speaker 1: You do have to get rid of your.
- 34:56Speaker 2: You have been traumatized from the legal system. And I
- 35:00Speaker 2: because lollipop is the generic term.
- 35:03Speaker 5: You have to.
- 35:05Speaker 4: If you don't call it a soccer, they're going to
- 35:07Speaker 4: come after you.
- 35:08Speaker 2: So soccer is also not a brand. Soccer is like
- 35:10Speaker 2: an older slang term for a lollipop. I just know
- 35:15Speaker 2: this because I've been researching this a ton, because I've
- 35:18Speaker 2: gone into this business.
- 35:19Speaker 4: But call me when your subpoena comes in and I'll
- 35:21Speaker 4: tell you. I'll tell my lawyer.
- 35:23Speaker 1: Okay, guys, I've got a good question, deacon.
- 35:26Speaker 6: I want to know what you're up to now that
- 35:28Speaker 6: you hung up the shoes.
- 35:29Speaker 1: Oh you know, I've just been taking a couple of
- 35:32Speaker 1: little silver sneakers classes here and there to get the
- 35:36Speaker 1: old hips going again.
- 35:37Speaker 6: Super Sneakers, Ye.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Trying to get my daughter into a good high school
- 35:41Speaker 1: that's really fun.
- 35:45Speaker 5: To public. O.
- 35:46Speaker 1: No, I would never ever send my daughter to public.
- 35:50Speaker 6: Oh I think schools are just fine.
- 35:52Speaker 1: Well no, not for me.
- 35:55Speaker 4: Okay, okay, you are going to community anyway, you two
- 36:00Speaker 4: year college that has twelve dollars classes public school. Okay,
- 36:08Speaker 4: be careful, don't do too much grumpy cat stuff. He'll
- 36:10Speaker 4: come after you.
- 36:11Speaker 1: I don't know what you sued them. You sued them,
- 36:15Speaker 1: So guys, let's talk about it best and also worst
- 36:19Speaker 1: flash mob.
- 36:20Speaker 6: I want to talk about memories. I hear them all.
- 36:24Speaker 1: Okay, okay, we'll just rapid fire. The best one was
- 36:27Speaker 1: definitely when we did I'm Sorry Miss Jackson in the
- 36:33Speaker 1: middle of the glen Field Aquatics Center in that pool.
- 36:38Speaker 5: Yeah, cast so funny.
- 36:41Speaker 4: We owe so much to outcast. I mean they they
- 36:44Speaker 4: so much of our work.
- 36:46Speaker 1: Was just yeah, it was. We were supposed to do
- 36:48Speaker 1: either Roses or Hey y'all, but I don't know who
- 36:51Speaker 1: decided it. We started to do I'm Sorry Miss Jackson,
- 36:54Speaker 1: which is such a quick, fast song, a difficult rap tempo.
- 36:58Speaker 1: It was a blast.
- 36:59Speaker 6: Well it was was Janina and she was on the
- 37:02Speaker 6: She was the janitor for the episode for the for
- 37:05Speaker 6: the dance.
- 37:05Speaker 3: Like APIs Comle episodes, Janina was in charge of the
- 37:10Speaker 3: radio because it's very frequently a janitor walks out and
- 37:13Speaker 3: has a radio and then touches the radio and.
- 37:16Speaker 6: Janina hit the wrong fucking button on the radio. So
- 37:19Speaker 6: we were doing Starry Miss Jackson.
- 37:21Speaker 3: But we found out that the dance to hey y'all
- 37:23Speaker 3: fit to sorry Miss Jackson perfect, such a happy one.
- 37:27Speaker 2: Of those perfect, perfect synat your synergy moments because a
- 37:31Speaker 2: lot of times you do have to improvise in these things.
- 37:33Speaker 5: You do have to like on the fly maybe adjust
- 37:36Speaker 5: to the circumstances.
- 37:37Speaker 2: Like I remember, we started uh a proposal to Bob's
- 37:42Speaker 2: Airplanes air Ye, and then the proposal went south, so
- 37:50Speaker 2: we sort of like had to change the choreosity.
- 37:52Speaker 1: Started flying away.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It's like, it's not just about the couple, it's also
- 37:58Speaker 2: about the people walk like around who are now in
- 38:01Speaker 2: the performance as well, so we have to make that
- 38:03Speaker 2: entertaining for them.
- 38:05Speaker 6: And then that happened. That happened during the bo b section.
- 38:07Speaker 6: Take me back to the day before. It was a
- 38:09Speaker 6: job before I got paid, so.
- 38:14Speaker 1: Really well, because we kept on going, he could really
- 38:16Speaker 1: use a wish right now, you're saying no, he could
- 38:19Speaker 1: really really use a wish right now.
- 38:21Speaker 6: And he was there crying.
- 38:22Speaker 5: Stay there. Yeah, they stayed.
- 38:24Speaker 3: Yeah, they stayed, and she was listening and he was
- 38:26Speaker 3: crying and we were kind of and then we did
- 38:28Speaker 3: try to move for away.
- 38:30Speaker 6: I thought, you know what, fuck this girl, and I
- 38:33Speaker 6: started trying to move for a way. I did think
- 38:35Speaker 6: that because we never curse, I know, I know, I
- 38:38Speaker 6: thought at the time. You know, I didn't say something.
- 38:41Speaker 1: You can't.
- 38:42Speaker 6: You know that we get penalties if we speak. I did.
- 38:44Speaker 6: I don't know if you guys did.
- 38:46Speaker 4: It's a non speaking art form. You can't do that.
- 38:48Speaker 6: Yeah, but I was like, my character would say something
- 38:51Speaker 6: lollipop boy. You know, it's like too much.
- 38:53Speaker 3: I also think, honestly, now that I'm thinking about listening
- 38:56Speaker 3: to myself, this is the job that got me addicted
- 38:59Speaker 3: to candy and I and I might need to talk
- 39:02Speaker 3: to you, Breed. I might need to talk to Breed
- 39:05Speaker 3: because they might need to sue Moubar because it's like
- 39:08Speaker 3: really crazy.
- 39:09Speaker 4: Or you can sue candy. You could sue candy for
- 39:11Speaker 4: making you addicted to it.
- 39:12Speaker 6: I'd rather sue a person than a thing.
- 39:13Speaker 4: I listen, I am just saying I'm going after opioids.
- 39:20Speaker 6: Okay, cool, that is noble.
- 39:24Speaker 5: That is noble. I'm just thank you for doing that.
- 39:26Speaker 5: I'm sure that's a huge issue in this country.
- 39:29Speaker 4: The same way I'm gonna go after candy. Mister Deacon Brown.
- 39:32Speaker 1: What step was to you?
- 39:35Speaker 6: That's professor to you.
- 39:37Speaker 3: Okay, but wait, what I want to say is I
- 39:39Speaker 3: just pushed her away, and then they got mad at
- 39:41Speaker 3: me because they're like, no, they're still they need to
- 39:43Speaker 3: talk it out. But it's so tribal, like we get
- 39:45Speaker 3: so into If you hire us, you're part of the team.
- 39:48Speaker 3: If you ever engaged in us with the flash I
- 39:50Speaker 3: remember we did a flash mob for flash Mob Night
- 39:53Speaker 3: at the Minnesota Twins game, and that was so fun because.
- 39:56Speaker 4: I hate that he made it a flashbob night. They
- 39:59Speaker 4: just teat it up too.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Well.
- 40:00Speaker 3: What's funny is everyone that was in a flash mob
- 40:04Speaker 3: was told that the theme was normal night. But then
- 40:06Speaker 3: everybody else that didn't know they were in a flash
- 40:09Speaker 3: mob was themed it was flash Mob Nights.
- 40:10Speaker 6: So they actually ended up being won.
- 40:13Speaker 3: How they coordinated that and so all of a sudden,
- 40:15Speaker 3: we all got up and started doing it. It turned
- 40:17Speaker 3: into a bit of a war because we were all
- 40:19Speaker 3: doing these flash mobs and we were seeing a flash
- 40:21Speaker 3: mobs from all over the world, and we are fighting
- 40:24Speaker 3: with each other.
- 40:24Speaker 6: It became a brawl. I did lose the tooth.
- 40:27Speaker 4: But I also mean, like, if you tell a group
- 40:28Speaker 4: of flash mob artists that it's normal night, they know
- 40:32Speaker 4: some things up.
- 40:33Speaker 1: That's true.
- 40:33Speaker 4: Yeah, when a theme is normal. Anytime I see theme normal,
- 40:37Speaker 4: I'm like something.
- 40:38Speaker 1: There's something we can we talk about. Unfortunately, one of
- 40:42Speaker 1: the worst flash mobs we did, it's a disaster when
- 40:45Speaker 1: we did Timber. Yeah, and we decided to cut those
- 40:49Speaker 1: trees down, those big cypresses, and they fell all these
- 40:51Speaker 1: well that's when I.
- 40:52Speaker 4: Think, that's when I think it wasn't about the dance anymore.
- 40:54Speaker 4: It was more about the props.
- 40:56Speaker 1: And that's about the spectacle. We got too much into
- 40:58Speaker 1: the spectacle.
- 40:59Speaker 6: We didn't know those saws would work.
- 41:01Speaker 5: About the change. Yeah, we should have asked people about
- 41:03Speaker 5: the chainsaws.
- 41:04Speaker 6: And we didn't know they'd work, you know, And I'll take.
- 41:07Speaker 5: I'll take I'll take responsibility for that, Like this one.
- 41:10Speaker 1: Is on me.
- 41:10Speaker 2: I didn't I should have asked more people what a
- 41:16Speaker 2: chainsaw actually does.
- 41:22Speaker 6: We didn't have asked. We all should have looked into
- 41:25Speaker 6: what chainsaws do, and we didn't do that.
- 41:27Speaker 1: We just didn't do it.
- 41:29Speaker 2: The finn diagram of of of flash model performers and
- 41:33Speaker 2: people who know woodworking are two very disparate circles. They're
- 41:37Speaker 2: very far away from each other, and so it's it's
- 41:39Speaker 2: almost like, how do you even know what questions to ask?
- 41:43Speaker 2: And that's sort of what what we fell into. And luckily,
- 41:47Speaker 2: you know, those those kids lived and they and thank
- 41:50Speaker 2: got But it did.
- 41:53Speaker 1: It did change the environment. Morale changed the environment.
- 41:56Speaker 5: It was.
- 41:57Speaker 4: It was bad, but it was I'm sorry, but I
- 42:00Speaker 4: will say it did get us On Hoda and Kathy Hoda.
- 42:05Speaker 3: To us.
- 42:07Speaker 1: It was we watched the video and ripped us apart.
- 42:10Speaker 5: It was a hard hitting morning show interview. Really ever happened?
- 42:14Speaker 6: It was crazy.
- 42:16Speaker 1: They really grilled us. They grilled us for four or
- 42:18Speaker 1: five minutes, just non stop.
- 42:20Speaker 3: Even the producers weren't ready for it to be so
- 42:23Speaker 3: hard hitting.
- 42:24Speaker 6: They gave us swag bags at the end.
- 42:25Speaker 3: Have you do you think anybody who's ever been grilled
- 42:27Speaker 3: on sixty minutes walks away with a swag bag?
- 42:30Speaker 7: No?
- 42:30Speaker 2: We weren't expecting it, and we weren't equipped and we
- 42:32Speaker 2: are not we are not media trained enough for that.
- 42:35Speaker 2: And then we made it worse because we tried to
- 42:37Speaker 2: do a flash bob at the hospital to forward the
- 42:41Speaker 2: kids to make it up for them.
- 42:43Speaker 3: But yeah, I think you single handedly undid all of
- 42:48Speaker 3: their ivs with one swoop of your hands.
- 42:50Speaker 6: Chandra.
- 42:51Speaker 5: Yeah, it was part of the you know, it was.
- 42:55Speaker 2: Part of the lead up to the chorus of club
- 42:57Speaker 2: can't even handle Me right now. Like we thought it
- 43:00Speaker 2: was gonna be immersive and that that would trigger the
- 43:03Speaker 2: kids to then get up from their beds, like that
- 43:06Speaker 2: kind of would be a c to be like, okay,
- 43:09Speaker 2: stand now, now, move yourself to rise.
- 43:12Speaker 6: But they didn't.
- 43:13Speaker 5: They didn't take the queue.
- 43:14Speaker 4: I mean, Chando, you just kept yelling at them.
- 43:16Speaker 3: Get up, get up, get up, get up, get up,
- 43:20Speaker 3: but in the way DJ.
- 43:22Speaker 2: Would like, get up, get on the floor, you know.
- 43:25Speaker 2: But but they they did not take it that way.
- 43:27Speaker 2: They did not interpret it that way, and ran.
- 43:30Speaker 3: A fucking Janner's card into the plasma machines, brained plasma everywhere.
- 43:33Speaker 6: That was so crazy.
- 43:34Speaker 4: I could get that flask. Maybe Crumpy made me so crumpy,
- 43:42Speaker 4: but plash plasmas. Ah, my jeems, plasma's on my caprices.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Oh my god, you're so grumpy. You gotta be careful.
- 43:55Speaker 2: Favorite flash mob when we did Billionaire in the.
- 44:01Speaker 1: Pier and we had to do the radio edit, so
- 44:05Speaker 1: we went I want to be a billionaire.
- 44:07Speaker 5: So was it flipping or freaking?
- 44:12Speaker 4: I can't even remember now, we probably don't remember because
- 44:15Speaker 4: the confetti cans were so loud on that part.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It got the sharks.
- 44:20Speaker 3: The sharks well, and we had to come. We had
- 44:23Speaker 3: emerged from the pier from under the pier.
- 44:25Speaker 1: It was terrified and I got cut up by all
- 44:29Speaker 1: those clams.
- 44:30Speaker 4: It got coral all over my caprich made me grumpy.
- 44:34Speaker 4: I had disgusting ocean water on my Capriche made me grumpy.
- 44:39Speaker 6: But at least they washed off the plasma. Those were
- 44:41Speaker 6: Those were back to back.
- 44:43Speaker 5: It was back to back, so honestly, the water was
- 44:45Speaker 5: like kind of a nice splash and a big reset
- 44:48Speaker 5: if you will. For the vibe. It was like, oh,
- 44:51Speaker 5: this also is bad, but like in a different way,
- 44:54Speaker 5: in a new way. So that's why it was my favorite.
- 44:56Speaker 4: I think there's like some common misconceptions with flash mobs
- 44:59Speaker 4: and they think we're like similar to dance troops. We're
- 45:01Speaker 4: providing our own costumes.
- 45:03Speaker 1: Like those are all our own own lunches.
- 45:04Speaker 4: Second of all, we don't rehearse. We get a video
- 45:08Speaker 4: of the choreo and then we rehearse on our own time.
- 45:11Speaker 4: Like we're not like like in like it's because we
- 45:15Speaker 4: have to be low key about it.
- 45:17Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, but it is real job.
- 45:19Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:20Speaker 6: There was a month where we were all salaried and
- 45:22Speaker 6: it immediately did it work?
- 45:24Speaker 1: Oh my god, it was the best month of my life.
- 45:27Speaker 1: Oh my god, all of us. I made it. Yeah.
- 45:31Speaker 1: It was with health insurance and in a month they
- 45:37Speaker 1: took on two hundred employees eight K month.
- 45:40Speaker 4: We each got paid leave.
- 45:42Speaker 6: Well, remember because because Moubar was like, we're going to
- 45:45Speaker 6: go public and so there were stock options for a second,
- 45:48Speaker 6: it was so crazy.
- 45:50Speaker 5: Did you guys buy in? Did you guys? Yeah, yeah,
- 45:55Speaker 5: I bought in a little bit. And well we know how,
- 45:58Speaker 5: we know how that turned out.
- 46:00Speaker 6: Yeah, that's they don't tell you if you buy in,
- 46:03Speaker 6: they can buy you out. And that's what was kind
- 46:05Speaker 6: of hard, and that's.
- 46:06Speaker 4: What was hard to get sued for that. That's so
- 46:08Speaker 4: fucked up.
- 46:09Speaker 1: Well, guys, this has been so fun.
- 46:13Speaker 6: You have anywhere to go?
- 46:15Speaker 1: Yeah, I actually do have to I think I do
- 46:18Speaker 1: have to run unfortunately, Wait, what's that sound I hear?
- 46:24Speaker 1: I got a feeling. Oh gosh, that tonight's gonna be good?
- 46:31Speaker 6: What nice gonna be?
- 46:36Speaker 1: That tonight's gonna be a good goodnight?
- 46:40Speaker 4: These people doing outside on this suit for a podcast?
- 46:44Speaker 5: Right pump.
- 46:51Speaker 1: For work?
- 46:54Speaker 6: Swimming swimming, swimming, swimming, swimming, Okay, swimming, swimming swimming. I
- 47:03Speaker 6: don't want to leave miss such.
- 47:06Speaker 1: A good flash ball. I want to perfect.
- 47:11Speaker 4: I want to stay.
- 47:13Speaker 6: I want forever.
- 47:14Speaker 4: I want to stay.
- 47:15Speaker 5: Can we stay here for five more minutes? Can we
- 47:18Speaker 5: freeze time and stay here forever?
- 47:21Speaker 6: I don't want to go back to my life. I'm
- 47:23Speaker 6: so underwater with so many nerds ropes.
- 47:25Speaker 7: I have to eat today, I know, And I have
- 47:28Speaker 7: nothing to if my if my, if my, my lollipops
- 47:33Speaker 7: don't fit in the claw machine.
- 47:35Speaker 5: It's almost like I have nothing to fill the claw
- 47:38Speaker 5: machine with. I don't know what to fill it with,
- 47:40Speaker 5: and I don't know. I think I made a mistake.
- 47:45Speaker 1: No, I should have never become a deacon.
- 47:49Speaker 4: Oh I'm sew And I should have never gotten in
- 47:52Speaker 4: any of this legal stuff. I'm buried in paperwork and
- 47:57Speaker 4: my lawyer has a knife to my head every morning.
- 48:00Speaker 6: Do you guys ever think their life isn't as good
- 48:03Speaker 6: as when we were in that flash mob?
- 48:06Speaker 1: It was like a different reality. I could be just
- 48:10Speaker 1: an old timey professor or a businessman running late. All
- 48:15Speaker 1: my problems were just dance.
- 48:17Speaker 2: I could have sold ice cream to strangers in the park.
- 48:22Speaker 2: I could have done that in real life. Everyone needs vendors.
- 48:26Speaker 2: That's a medieval job that always could have been.
- 48:30Speaker 7: But no.
- 48:31Speaker 3: Should have been a boy when I was an actual boy.
- 48:34Speaker 3: But no, I was obsessed with reading books instead. And
- 48:38Speaker 3: then I went out as an eighteen year old boy
- 48:40Speaker 3: licking a lollipop, like I could have done that in
- 48:42Speaker 3: public as a.
- 48:43Speaker 6: Kid with the little spinny hat.
- 48:46Speaker 3: What was I doing?
- 48:48Speaker 4: I was always so worried about shutting it down, shutting
- 48:51Speaker 4: it down before it could get anything, before I could
