- 1:13Speaker 3: Patreon dot com slash Megan and Wendy.
- 1:16Speaker 2: That's right, let's hear a synopsis of Love on the Amazon.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Claire travels to Brazil and hires Danny, a riverboat captain,
- 1:25Speaker 3: to help her deliver an important message to her sister Emilia,
- 1:29Speaker 3: a marine biologist studying pink dolphins on the Amazon River.
- 1:34Speaker 2: Colin Thays directed Love on the Amazon and if you're
- 1:36Speaker 2: thinking this guy knows a destination movie, you are right.
- 1:39Speaker 2: His resume includes a Machu Piachu proposal, Polar Opposites, a
- 1:43Speaker 2: Costa Rican wedding, and a Greek recipe for romance pattern
- 1:47Speaker 2: very much established.
- 1:49Speaker 3: The screenplay comes from Julianna Wimbles, who longtime Hallmark viewers
- 1:53Speaker 3: will recognize as Lisa from the Hannah Swinson Mysteries. Writing wise,
- 1:57Speaker 3: this marks her ninth credit, with previous projects including A
- 2:01Speaker 3: Machu Pichu Proposal This Time Each Year and Love in
- 2:04Speaker 3: the Maldives. J C.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Elliot stars as Clare, while she has just eight acting credits,
- 2:08Speaker 2: including Hallmark titles like My Southern Family, Christmas and Joya
- 2:12Speaker 2: No Well. She is best known for her role as
- 2:15Speaker 2: doctor Terren Helm on Grey's Anatomy, where she's appeared in
- 2:19Speaker 2: nearly one hundred episodes. Man, I did not make that connection.
- 2:24Speaker 3: Wait do you watch that show? Still? No? But I
- 2:27Speaker 3: know exactly who she.
- 2:28Speaker 2: Is and I have seen the seasons in which she
- 2:31Speaker 2: is in and.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Or clips on TikTok.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Maybe a little bit about.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Raphael D. La Fuente plays Danny. He has fifteen acting
- 2:40Speaker 3: credits and previously appeared on Hallmark in Letters to Santa
- 2:44Speaker 3: in twenty twenty three. Outside of Hallmarky has had a
- 2:47Speaker 3: long run as Sam Jones on Dynasty, as well as
- 2:51Speaker 3: appearing on Fire Country.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Persephone Bartera Redman plays sister Amelia. This is her one
- 2:57Speaker 2: and only acting credit.
- 3:00Speaker 3: When I was putting these notes together, I was like,
- 3:02Speaker 3: is she a friend of somebody? Like? How do you
- 3:04Speaker 3: have one and nothing else?
- 3:06Speaker 2: She's been busy in the Amazon.
- 3:09Speaker 3: Maybe she's a real person. Maybe maybe Race's Xavier plays Millie.
- 3:14Speaker 3: This is her thirteenth acting credit, and she did appear
- 3:17Speaker 3: in last year's Polar Opposites.
- 3:20Speaker 2: We're gonna take a quick break and come right back
- 3:22Speaker 2: with our first impressions. Hey, Wendy, what was your first
- 3:34Speaker 2: impression of love on the Amazon?
- 3:37Speaker 3: Okay, go with me here. Okay, Hi, folks, welcome aboard.
- 3:41Speaker 3: Please keep your arms and legs inside the boat at
- 3:44Speaker 3: all times. We are now entering the most dangerous part
- 3:47Speaker 3: of the Amazon. Don't worry. This script says, We'll be
- 3:50Speaker 3: just fine. Now, is it giving jungle groops?
- 3:55Speaker 2: I was gonna say for those of you who are
- 3:57Speaker 2: not Southern Californian eighties, Look, I love the Junkle Cruise.
- 4:04Speaker 2: And I also feel so bad.
- 4:06Speaker 3: For the people who work on the Junkle Cruise because
- 4:09Speaker 3: they just have to like read that script of puns
- 4:12Speaker 3: the entirety.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Do you think they like living in Dad Joe Gland
- 4:16Speaker 2: their entire workday?
- 4:18Speaker 3: I think there is a person perfect for that job,
- 4:21Speaker 3: you know, like the kid who was like the theater
- 4:24Speaker 3: kid at school who just you know, like they're playing
- 4:26Speaker 3: a part. Yeah, I think they don't cringe about it.
- 4:30Speaker 2: The backside of water. Look, I like it. It works
- 4:34Speaker 2: for me much less creative over here. My first impression
- 4:37Speaker 2: is what an email and a docu sign have solved
- 4:39Speaker 2: all of this?
- 4:41Speaker 3: That is something I had not thought of. I do
- 4:44Speaker 3: have some thoughts about, like, this woman is out in
- 4:47Speaker 3: the Amazon. She needs to be you know, like contacted.
- 4:50Speaker 3: There has to be some sort of communication available.
- 4:54Speaker 2: Claire had a satellite device. Amelia couldn't have had one.
- 4:58Speaker 2: Of course she does, of course she does. She needs
- 5:00Speaker 2: two for emergencies.
- 5:01Speaker 3: Come on, I know, I know, I know, but yes,
- 5:05Speaker 3: you're right, a docu sign would have easily taken care
- 5:08Speaker 3: of this, let's talk what we liked, Okay, if I
- 5:11Speaker 3: can start. Yeah, Raphael de la Fuente as Danny Welcome
- 5:15Speaker 3: to Hallmark. Welcome easily a standout for me. I thought
- 5:19Speaker 3: he was charming, warm, easy to watch, very believable as
- 5:23Speaker 3: a riverboat captain, I thought, even though I don't know
- 5:26Speaker 3: anything about riverboats. Oh yeah, boat captains, but it felt
- 5:32Speaker 3: natural to me, like he knew what he was doing.
- 5:35Speaker 3: And also, if I may add, and I do think
- 5:37Speaker 3: this matters, I truly believe Hallmark needs more Latino leading men,
- 5:43Speaker 3: and he would be a great addition. I would happily
- 5:46Speaker 3: watch him in a movie again.
- 5:48Speaker 2: Yeah, absolutely, I agree in several pieces of my notes
- 5:52Speaker 2: here today, I'm going to take a little help from
- 5:53Speaker 2: our friends because I was reading our Facebook group comments
- 5:57Speaker 2: and several people said exactly what I was thinking in
- 5:59Speaker 2: one of those moments. I would like to read a
- 6:03Speaker 2: comment from Michelle who says this was not typical Hallmark,
- 6:06Speaker 2: but I enjoyed the storyline. However, I may be biased
- 6:09Speaker 2: because I'm all about conservation and this movie put a
- 6:11Speaker 2: focus on research and conservation with the romance a subplot.
- 6:16Speaker 2: I agree with that. I think the romance was a
- 6:19Speaker 2: subplot in this movie. I think what this movie does
- 6:22Speaker 2: differently is they are trying to shine a tiny little
- 6:26Speaker 2: light on life in the Amazon and environmentalism and conservation.
- 6:32Speaker 2: There's a little like peak at the schools, and I
- 6:35Speaker 2: appreciate those bits and pieces that we're getting in the
- 6:39Speaker 2: same vein that I feel like last week's Australia movie
- 6:43Speaker 2: shined a light on Melbourne. Did you know? I have
- 6:47Speaker 2: the most exciting news for you?
- 6:50Speaker 4: What?
- 6:51Speaker 3: Wait?
- 6:52Speaker 2: You don't know? For the listeners, I've been sick. My
- 6:56Speaker 2: brain is not fully here. But I had big plans
- 6:59Speaker 2: to surprise you with this at the top of this episode,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and then they didn't pan out. Well, hold on, we
- 7:07Speaker 2: got a message about Melbourne.
- 7:09Speaker 3: Yes, Oh, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. I'm excited. Oh
- 7:13Speaker 3: I'm scared too. Who is it from. It's from Shannon, Hi, ladies.
- 7:18Speaker 4: I thought i'd send you a quick note about a
- 7:21Speaker 4: Melbourne match. I'm from New South Wales, where Sydney is,
- 7:24Speaker 4: and we say Melbourne. And I double checked with a
- 7:27Speaker 4: friend who lives in Victoria, which is where Melbourne is,
- 7:31Speaker 4: and she also says Melbourne.
- 7:33Speaker 3: So for Ossie's I guess the general consensus is Melbourne,
- 7:37Speaker 3: not Melbourne or Melbourne.
- 7:40Speaker 4: And as for holding the koala, in certain states, it's
- 7:43Speaker 4: illegal for conservation laws. I know in New South Wales,
- 7:47Speaker 4: where my sister used to work at a zoo, you
- 7:49Speaker 4: aren't allowed to hold them there, but you can pat
- 7:52Speaker 4: them or have a photo taken with them. We went
- 7:54Speaker 4: on our honeymoon in Queensland, which is up north, and
- 7:58Speaker 4: I am going to attach a photo my husband actually
- 8:01Speaker 4: held a koala. I made him do it because I
- 8:03Speaker 4: was too scared it was going to pay on me.
- 8:06Speaker 4: But you are allowed to in certain states, but some
- 8:08Speaker 4: you're not. Anyway, I have a great day.
- 8:10Speaker 5: I love it. That's so exciting, that's amazing.
- 8:14Speaker 3: Thank you so much, Shannon. I feel like vindicated. Right,
- 8:19Speaker 3: Nobody told me that's not how it's pronounced, but you know,
- 8:22Speaker 3: I'm I'm just feel happy to be right, that's all. Well.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Also, I was like, she really is Australian.
- 8:29Speaker 3: Oh my god, where that she has an accent? Yeah?
- 8:33Speaker 2: Anyway, Look, I think I liked this peak into the Amazon.
- 8:37Speaker 2: I don't know anything about life on the Amazon. My
- 8:39Speaker 2: point was, I think that's what some of these movies
- 8:42Speaker 2: have done for us. A tiny hallmarkified peak into Life
- 8:47Speaker 2: on the Amazon with potentially cgi jaguars walking down the banks. Yeah,
- 8:53Speaker 2: I wore like a bull jaguar maybe.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Oh yeah, go look at that there he is. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:01Speaker 3: I agree with you. I think this setting here does
- 9:04Speaker 3: a lot of heavy lifting because it's somewhere we've never been,
- 9:08Speaker 3: and it is kind of like cool to be like, oh,
- 9:11Speaker 3: look at that. I know that sounds like the more,
- 9:14Speaker 3: you know, but I just thought like the movie did
- 9:19Speaker 3: benefit from its location. It was filmed on location in Equitos, Peru.
- 9:26Speaker 3: According to IMDb. It's not the Brazil Amazon, but it's
- 9:31Speaker 3: still the Amazon, right, so it's kind of cool to
- 9:35Speaker 3: like get a peek into that. I agree, And I
- 9:37Speaker 3: did think like the river shots were like genuinely interesting
- 9:41Speaker 3: to look at. I think it was cool that they
- 9:44Speaker 3: were on an actual river, you know, not green screen.
- 9:48Speaker 3: We've been talking about green you know, like boats on
- 9:51Speaker 3: water the last couple of months, so I appreciated that
- 9:55Speaker 3: those shots were actually genuine Yeah.
- 9:58Speaker 2: I mean it's a little it's it's mildly eye opening.
- 10:01Speaker 2: It's like, oh, look at that. This is interesting. This
- 10:03Speaker 2: is something I know nothing about Life on the Amazon,
- 10:06Speaker 2: about the Amazon River. It did have a mild jungle
- 10:09Speaker 2: cruise vibe to it in that moment when the piranhas
- 10:12Speaker 2: just like pop. But it kind of was like, yes,
- 10:15Speaker 2: there are piranhas in the Amazon River. Yes there are
- 10:18Speaker 2: howler monkeys living in the Amazon. It was just notice
- 10:22Speaker 2: these things, be aware of them, open your eyes beyond
- 10:26Speaker 2: travel in your typical bubbles.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Fair, Now, let me ask you about this. This was
- 10:33Speaker 3: an acquisition right for me. I did think it was.
- 10:37Speaker 3: The story was better than I expected going into it.
- 10:40Speaker 3: I had super low expectations, honestly. Yeah. Well, with that said,
- 10:44Speaker 3: I the plot wasn't groundbreaking, but if I did think
- 10:48Speaker 3: it was watchable, so that alone earns a like from me. Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 2: If I may steal a little help from a friend
- 10:55Speaker 2: of ours, mailman Steve. He speaks to that and he says,
- 10:58Speaker 2: if this movie was aired in twenty fourteen, twenty seventeen era,
- 11:01Speaker 2: it would have been well received. Airing in twenty twenty
- 11:04Speaker 2: six it is still very watchable. Your word as well,
- 11:08Speaker 2: But over the last several years, Hallmark has raised the
- 11:10Speaker 2: bar for movies of the week. I found myself constantly
- 11:13Speaker 2: looking at the clock to see how much was left.
- 11:15Speaker 2: Jac Elliott did as much as she could, but the
- 11:17Speaker 2: rest of the production seemed to drag the movie down.
- 11:20Speaker 2: A good film, not a great film, And I think
- 11:22Speaker 2: that really captures my thoughts about this. It was better
- 11:26Speaker 2: than I expected it to be. It didn't meet the
- 11:29Speaker 2: level that had been established with the first two January
- 11:31Speaker 2: movies for me, but I did also find it watchable.
- 11:36Speaker 3: Yeah. I personally think this is a sandwich movie. We
- 11:40Speaker 3: got like two really good movies and we have this
- 11:42Speaker 3: middle hair, and then I think we're going to get
- 11:44Speaker 3: two pretty good movies to end January as well.
- 11:48Speaker 2: Yeah, this movie costs less for them to acquire than
- 11:51Speaker 2: they will make in advertising revenue while airing it.
- 11:55Speaker 3: Yeah, They're like, man, January's got five Saturdays, we need
- 11:58Speaker 3: to fill it with something. Yeah, right. Speaking of J. C. Elliott,
- 12:02Speaker 3: I did enjoy Claire's connection with the kids, showing them
- 12:07Speaker 3: the books and like speaking English with them, and her
- 12:11Speaker 3: also having like a mutual exchange learning the language there
- 12:15Speaker 3: as well. You know, I thought those were meaningful moments.
- 12:20Speaker 3: It showed this character of Claire outside of this rigid,
- 12:27Speaker 3: structured life she had back home.
- 12:30Speaker 2: I agree with that, and I also I liked that
- 12:32Speaker 2: they we finally got to a place within the boat
- 12:35Speaker 2: crew of a We're all in this together or high
- 12:37Speaker 2: school musical vibe. I didn't love the path we took
- 12:40Speaker 2: to get there, like the manufactured drama prior to that,
- 12:43Speaker 2: but I did like that we get to the point
- 12:46Speaker 2: where they are working together to help each other out
- 12:50Speaker 2: towards their own goals.
- 12:52Speaker 3: Yeah, are you ready to move on to wishes?
- 12:55Speaker 2: Sure?
- 12:57Speaker 3: Sadly, my wish list is longer than my likes scheme.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I wanted a different romantic pairing here.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Okay, as I'm.
- 13:06Speaker 3: Watching this movie, I truly thought the story was headed
- 13:09Speaker 3: towards Danny having passed or unresolved feelings with Claire's sister. Yes,
- 13:17Speaker 3: because it seemed like he spoke highly of her. There
- 13:20Speaker 3: was obviously history. We didn't quite at this point where
- 13:23Speaker 3: I'm like, oh, is that what is what? Yeah, that's
- 13:26Speaker 3: what's happening, Like we didn't know like he like bounced
- 13:28Speaker 3: out on their research projects. You know, he had a
- 13:32Speaker 3: family obligation. I think he didn't go about it the
- 13:35Speaker 3: right way. But my point is I kind of thought, oh,
- 13:40Speaker 3: I would like that better. I liked that idea better,
- 13:43Speaker 3: that Danny and the sister had some sort of reconnection
- 13:48Speaker 3: and then Claire meets somebody along the way because between
- 13:51Speaker 3: Danny and Claire, ad did not see it. There was
- 13:54Speaker 3: zero chemistry between these two.
- 13:56Speaker 2: I agree, and I like the idea that if it
- 13:59Speaker 2: were Danny and Amelia, that gives it time to build.
- 14:02Speaker 2: It's not three days on the Amazon where these people
- 14:04Speaker 2: are forming a relationship. It's over time and working together
- 14:07Speaker 2: and forming our relationship. And it feels more believable than
- 14:13Speaker 2: three days on a sweaty, buggy, humid boat where you
- 14:16Speaker 2: don't even have.
- 14:17Speaker 3: A place to sleep or sit down.
- 14:20Speaker 2: Yeah, for me as a person who doesn't like discomfort. Look,
- 14:27Speaker 2: I'm never going to go camping. It's not for me,
- 14:30Speaker 2: and this is a me thing. But I have a
- 14:32Speaker 2: hard time finding the romance and the sexiness in a
- 14:35Speaker 2: uncomfortable environment. I mean, I think they would admit life
- 14:39Speaker 2: on the Amazon is not easy. This was not luxury travel.
- 14:43Speaker 2: It was hot and humid and buggy. There was likely
- 14:45Speaker 2: no running water on this boat, so there're certainly weren't
- 14:48Speaker 2: showering regularly. I mean, maybe there was some sort of
- 14:52Speaker 2: toilet situation. I don't know.
- 14:54Speaker 3: Oh, these are details I had not thought of, But
- 14:57Speaker 3: I just.
- 14:58Speaker 2: I'm not going to feel romantic when I feel sticky. Yeah,
- 15:02Speaker 2: I hear you, and I'm swatting away the mosquitoes. It
- 15:06Speaker 2: doesn't bring it for me.
- 15:08Speaker 3: I'm sorry. Yeah, well, your point is valid because as
- 15:12Speaker 3: a viewer the movie makers, I'm gonna trademark that the
- 15:17Speaker 3: movie makers need to create an environment for the viewers
- 15:22Speaker 3: to feel those feelings while watching, right, And if you're
- 15:26Speaker 3: getting that's hot and sticky and buggy and I'm not
- 15:30Speaker 3: into it, they haven't done their job to sell us
- 15:34Speaker 3: on the romance. So yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, you know.
- 15:37Speaker 2: Can I wish for more character development for Claire in
- 15:40Speaker 2: the sense that she's clearly bright and capable. She's successful,
- 15:45Speaker 2: she's got a good job, she can organize like the Dickens,
- 15:50Speaker 2: but we're led to believe that she's this major disappointment
- 15:54Speaker 2: to her family because why she bought flowers for her
- 15:58Speaker 2: sister and somehow that her in traffic and made her
- 16:01Speaker 2: late to the graduation. I didn't fully understand she felt
- 16:05Speaker 2: like she had this big thing to prove to her sister,
- 16:08Speaker 2: and it wasn't fully clear that that was who she was.
- 16:13Speaker 2: She's a person who reads a lot, and somehow that
- 16:15Speaker 2: makes her not dependable.
- 16:17Speaker 3: I know, she's a vice principal at a school. I
- 16:22Speaker 3: mean that's not an easy job. That job takes brains
- 16:25Speaker 3: and management and all kinds of know how. So yeah,
- 16:30Speaker 3: you're right. They did paint her as sort of this
- 16:32Speaker 3: kind of incapable, which was like a huge pet peeve
- 16:37Speaker 3: of mine. In last week's movie, Yes, when our lead
- 16:41Speaker 3: was like, I can't how do I get out of
- 16:42Speaker 3: the airport? You know, it's the same sort of thing.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I'm helpless, But they are a paint They did paint
- 16:48Speaker 3: Claire as kind of like, oh, she's smart, but she's
- 16:53Speaker 3: also not like street savvy or I don't know, I
- 16:56Speaker 3: don't know what it is exactly, but you're right, you're right.
- 16:59Speaker 3: I did think it was a little bit unrealistic that
- 17:01Speaker 3: she goes on this adventure. I don't think she intended
- 17:05Speaker 3: it to be an adventure to find her sister to
- 17:08Speaker 3: get these documents signed, but it turns into a low
- 17:12Speaker 3: key adventure. M hmmm. That feels like exciting to her.
- 17:16Speaker 3: So therefore she's like, I'm gonna walk away from my
- 17:18Speaker 3: stable job and the life I've created for myself at
- 17:23Speaker 3: home to live on the Amazon.
- 17:27Speaker 2: They need teachers out here, oh, and there's just an
- 17:29Speaker 2: abundance of teaching jobs available to her to support herself with.
- 17:32Speaker 3: Come on, yeah, that does not feel realistic at all.
- 17:38Speaker 2: And like Danny lives this very transient life, like he's
- 17:41Speaker 2: constantly on the move, So how is that going?
- 17:44Speaker 3: You know, Danny.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Delivers like he's got to be delivering, So how is
- 17:48Speaker 2: that going to further your relationship?
- 17:51Speaker 3: Well, I to me, it read as like she was
- 17:55Speaker 3: going to do that with him, But then how is
- 17:57Speaker 3: she going to teach kids too?
- 18:00Speaker 2: I don't know she's gonna be a drop in teacher.
- 18:03Speaker 2: Let me read you the story while he unloads the
- 18:05Speaker 2: boxes and then by.
- 18:06Speaker 3: Yeah, that's what it sounds like. And if I may,
- 18:11Speaker 3: I touch lightly on ed Venture and my last wish.
- 18:14Speaker 3: But this movie to me, like there was no danger,
- 18:19Speaker 3: make it exciting for me, as if you were like, okay,
- 18:23Speaker 3: they have some rappids fine, And I could not help
- 18:25Speaker 3: but think like this is the Drake's passage of the
- 18:28Speaker 3: Amazon here, you know.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yeah, I kind of like that scene where she's like
- 18:32Speaker 2: rocking and rolling like she sold me.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Oh my god, I would be like, throw me over
- 18:37Speaker 3: this thing and put an end to my life. Tall
- 18:40Speaker 3: me to the Piranhas I could not. I get so
- 18:44Speaker 3: motion sick. There's no way, no way, but they.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Only do it once. But also, can that boat handle
- 18:51Speaker 2: if it's that many rapits, Like that boat's gonna capsize.
- 18:54Speaker 3: On a rock. Yeah, I don't know. I don't know.
- 18:57Speaker 3: But like every obstacle just felt like inconvenience instead of
- 19:03Speaker 3: dangerous threat.
- 19:04Speaker 2: It did feel like the jungle cruise of the Amazon.
- 19:06Speaker 2: They're like they were not concerned enough about sleeping in
- 19:10Speaker 2: the open in the Amazon. Although I did appreciate Danny
- 19:12Speaker 2: was like bootstay on, but yeah, I did feel like
- 19:16Speaker 2: there could have been a little bit more danger. Every
- 19:19Speaker 2: problem is so mild and handled rather quickly.
- 19:23Speaker 4: Right.
- 19:25Speaker 2: Also, I do think she was entirely too confident in
- 19:28Speaker 2: her plan to find her sister deep in the Amazon.
- 19:31Speaker 2: She arrives without much of a plan. She's found some
- 19:33Speaker 2: guy on the internet. I kind of assumed she had
- 19:37Speaker 2: made arrangements with him, and then all she had was
- 19:41Speaker 2: she just knew that he existed. She's like, oh, you're
- 19:43Speaker 2: Danny delivers and he was like, yeah, I'm not delivering you.
- 19:47Speaker 2: And then they had it. Just they kept talking like
- 19:51Speaker 2: all he needed to do was get her there and
- 19:53Speaker 2: then she's like, yeah, I'm just gonna stick around for
- 19:55Speaker 2: a week and then I'll head out on What do
- 19:58Speaker 2: you think there's just like regular boats passing through that
- 20:02Speaker 2: you can just hop on and traverse your way. There's
- 20:06Speaker 2: no plan, make a plan, yeah, logistically, like how how
- 20:12Speaker 2: are you getting there and.
- 20:13Speaker 3: Getting back exactly? Do you not have an airplane ticket
- 20:17Speaker 3: like waiting for you at some point to go home?
- 20:20Speaker 2: Yeah, that's going to be real expensive to book a
- 20:22Speaker 2: same day plane ticket when you decided to go back. Yeah.
- 20:26Speaker 3: I didn't. I don't understand it well. And even at
- 20:29Speaker 3: one point she says goodbye to Millie the chick on
- 20:34Speaker 3: the chick on the boat, the other chick on the boat, right,
- 20:37Speaker 3: And I was like, wait, are they just dropping them
- 20:39Speaker 3: off here? Like they're like, how are they supposed to
- 20:42Speaker 3: get back?
- 20:42Speaker 2: I know, I was like, aren't they gonna need the boat?
- 20:45Speaker 2: I didn't understand that at all.
- 20:47Speaker 3: Not at all.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Like they had to teach her how to do everything
- 20:50Speaker 2: on the boat because the other guy had to get
- 20:53Speaker 2: off the other guy, right, but now Millie's just going
- 20:56Speaker 2: to handle the whole thing on her own by herself.
- 20:58Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, no idea.
- 21:01Speaker 2: Let's talk to you to see that.
- 21:03Speaker 3: Okay, I have just two. I know you're a reader,
- 21:07Speaker 3: but do you bring a suitcase of books with you?
- 21:10Speaker 3: No to the Amazon. You don't have a kindle.
- 21:14Speaker 2: He even said, he's like you ever heard of a
- 21:16Speaker 2: re reader?
- 21:17Speaker 3: Right?
- 21:17Speaker 2: I think Chase stay charged for a while. She'd be, okay,
- 21:21Speaker 2: something who brings.
- 21:22Speaker 3: A book, like a suitcase full of books. Yeah, and
- 21:27Speaker 3: special books. Yeah. No, I don't get it. I don't
- 21:32Speaker 3: get it. I know. We talked about like dangerous scenes.
- 21:37Speaker 3: The scene with the big snake. Yeah, okay. First of all,
- 21:41Speaker 3: when I saw a sake, I'm like, nope, nope, Like
- 21:43Speaker 3: I have no desire to go anywhere that has big
- 21:46Speaker 3: snakes like that. Nope, especially when they're just out in nature.
- 21:50Speaker 3: But this scene where they're.
- 21:51Speaker 2: Like, okay, you have to like don't engage.
- 21:55Speaker 1: So Jimmy pasted it then wide old, say it's wide
- 21:59Speaker 1: old in space. She could walk the per like you know,
- 22:03Speaker 1: like outside of its perimeter there, like to get to
- 22:07Speaker 1: the boat.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Like I'm like, why are you shimmying? Has a snake?
- 22:11Speaker 3: And I don't know, do snakes like that like jump
- 22:13Speaker 3: up mid air and like attack you if you're like
- 22:15Speaker 3: walking by I mean, I don't know. In my head,
- 22:18Speaker 3: I think that's what they do, but I don't know.
- 22:20Speaker 2: I would be giving it a wider berth, and there
- 22:24Speaker 2: was space to do that the entire freaking Amazon. Yes
- 22:27Speaker 2: she could, yes, yes, Okay, that's all I got though. Well,
- 22:31Speaker 2: writer Giuliana Wibbles does make a cameo in this movie
- 22:34Speaker 2: as one of the tourists on the Amazonian cruise. I'm
- 22:37Speaker 2: sure you noticed, but that was nice. I'm glad she
- 22:39Speaker 2: got to be there.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Mm hmm.
- 22:41Speaker 2: I have a question m these people. It didn't occur
- 22:45Speaker 2: to me until the end of the movie, but in
- 22:46Speaker 2: the beginning of the movie, we see Claire watering her
- 22:49Speaker 2: sister's plants. At the end of the movie, we see
- 22:50Speaker 2: her dad watering her sister's plants. No no, no, no, no no.
- 22:54Speaker 2: If you're going to be gone for months and months
- 22:56Speaker 2: and months, we need to make a new arrangement for
- 22:58Speaker 2: these plants because I'm not coming to your house every
- 23:01Speaker 2: single day for months on end. I guess maybe they
- 23:03Speaker 2: only need to be watered once a week. I was like,
- 23:07Speaker 2: if you have this full living jungle situation inside of
- 23:11Speaker 2: your house and then you're gonna leave, that's a big
- 23:14Speaker 2: commitment to agree to water those plants.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Talk to me about you plan to leave? Who's paying
- 23:20Speaker 3: your rent, your car payment, your utility bills? Like, who's
- 23:23Speaker 3: doing that? Yeah?
- 23:25Speaker 2: I thought their treehouse was quite nice. I would really
- 23:29Speaker 2: love to know what research in the Amazon accommodations look like. Also,
- 23:35Speaker 2: I do think there should have been mosquito netting over
- 23:37Speaker 2: their beds. I don't think they'd be sleeping in the open,
- 23:39Speaker 2: open air, as pretty as it is.
- 23:42Speaker 3: Yeah, I have no idea. There's got you gotta not survive, no,
- 23:47Speaker 3: get eaten alive by mosquitoes here in Orange County.
- 23:50Speaker 2: So no, I will donate to their conservation efforts, but
- 23:55Speaker 2: I will not be boots on the ground in this
- 23:57Speaker 2: particular situation.
- 23:59Speaker 3: Oh have any other did you see that?
- 24:02Speaker 2: Just two funny things. I loved Claire's Titanic moment in
- 24:05Speaker 2: the beginning on the boat.
- 24:07Speaker 3: I laughed out loud, me too, Yeah, yeah, that was funny.
- 24:10Speaker 2: I also loved the line I didn't realize they had
- 24:12Speaker 2: catfish in the Amazon when she's clowning Danny for his
- 24:16Speaker 2: old photo in his Danny delivery.
- 24:19Speaker 3: Oh yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, great, Yeah, that's funny,
- 24:23Speaker 3: very funny.
- 24:24Speaker 2: What did you rate love on the Amazon.
- 24:27Speaker 3: I gave it two point seven five starts.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Oh, I gave it two and a half. All right,
